Bibliophile Superpower App. Blinkist helps me blow through those NF titles that look interesting or cover a topic I'd like to learn more about without committing the reading time. I get the info I'm looking for and can use the time saved to spend reading good writing (and absorbing those powers). In other cases, reading the Blinkist gets me to commit to the full book experience. I like that I can save and recall books as needed, too. Good selection on a variety of topics. Now I read Blinkist when I have ten minute pockets of time instead of mindlessly surfing the internet. For real, I hope this app is around til I die bc it's really helping me achieve my life reading and learning goals!

Blinkist-Great Product!. Blinkist is a supporter of a Podcast I listen to so I tried it. I’ve been reading Blinkist “Blinks” for a little over a week now. Already it is clear that I am better informed about a whole range of issues. I’ve actually read Blinks from some books I already read and found the accounts to be highly accurate. The premium version allows me to send Blinks to my Kindle. This is highly valuable for avoiding eye fatigue from reading the iPhone screen. Blinkist has enabled me to read eleven books I would not ordinarily have time to read. A Blinkist typically takes between 10 and 20 minutes to read. If you are curious by nature, get Blinkist. Highly recommended!!

The best. I have to be honest here, I’ve tried a few of these apps and Blinkist is the best in so many directions. First they always are giving away a free book of the day; and it’s always on the subject of the day. During the Impeachment process the book was on impeachment, during COVID it was about viruses, and as the crisis with systematic racism moves to the forefront in the nation’s collective conversational consciousness, those are the books highlighted and free. You couldn’t find a better way to be well informed if you tried. If someone rates this less than 5 stars that’s just a picky person and not related to this app. Some people just can’t be happy. Even with an amazing app like this. Maybe they need a house plant. Or a hobby.

Be careful! They take your $100 and won’t refund. I thought I’d give this 7 day free period a go and see why it was about. I unfortunately had to leave town and got busy that week and didn’t get a chance to really look into it. I had it scheduled in my diary that day to cancel the renewal but arrived home a few hours too late it seems. As soon as the week expired I got charged $100 and put on an annual plan. No more than 2 hours after this happened, I contacted Blinkist and asked for a refund as I simply hadn’t seen that I’d be signed up for a $100 annual plan if I missed the cancel date. Most of these kinds of apps are monthly at worst and I would have swallowed the monthly fee If I’d missed the cancel date. They told me that they couldn’t do anything and suggested I try iTunes. I’ve contacted iTunes 3 times now and have not had one real response other than an auto response stating it’s not available for refund. I’m furious as I simply can’t afford it right now and you should always have a window after payment for something that as it’s simply a use as you go type of arrangement. Now I don’t even want to use it because it’s left such a bad taste in my mouth. If it’s such a great product, then they shouldn’t have to prey on those that forget to cancel their trial on time to then charge them $100. Pretty unhappy.

The Genius Who Struggles to Read. I’m a member of Mensa, the society for the geniuses, but have a block when it comes to reading. Go figure! Growing up, I got by in school by reading Classics Illustrated, the comic book version of the great books. Now, couple my disability with the fact that I’m an information addict and you can see the challenge! Well, problem solved once I downloaded the Blinkist app. Now I can cruise through the highlights of “pages” of books whose ideas and stories are endlessly fulfilling. I’ve been listening as I walk and now walk about 20,000 steps a day! Lol. Get it…it’s an investment you won’t regret.

Highly recommend. Before I download the app, I was reading a few reviews and I saw a few negative ones. For this reason, I have decided to write a review. I never write reviews but this app deserves the exception. A complete app with meaningful information. An app with the possibility to read and listen accurate blinks. What I like to do is read the blink in the morning and listen the audio at night; getting the full context of the blink is key to increase knowledge. Perhaps, reading the full book will give you a deeper understanding; however, the blinks will give you key insight in short period of time. I would like to say thank you for those that crear the app. I am a very active reader. In fact, I read around 3 books per month; now, I can consume one book per day. Great app, I love it!

Blinkist gives me a wide range of choices. I do love reading real books, but sometimes I just can’t commit to plow through 500 pages. A Blinkist version gives me a strong sense of what the book is like, and if I really am motivated, I can go back and actually read the original. Otherwise I’m fine just reading summaries. I am able to become familiar with the contents of books that I would otherwise never bother to open. I even read blinks of books that I actually have read just to see how good the summaries are. They are as good as you can squeeze in to 20 or 25 minutes. I do wish that sometimes they would give a deeper treatment to some titles, maybe make them 50 minutes or an hour to read.

Not very transparent. I recently attended a conference where a previous employee spoke, I was really impressed with what was expressed and decided to check out the app. I signed up for the free trial of premium with the idea that this company was going to remind me before any charges were made to continue the premium subscription. Today was the last day of the trial and I did not get any kind of reminder, if it was a notification it was not obvious. I presumably had today to cancel, but nope was charged $99. The app itself is fine. It was definitely glitchy at times when trying to both read and listen. I checked out quite a few that I had already read just to see and the blinks were accurate. With that I can see the selection getting old pretty quickly. So with all the new AI out there you can get book summaries for free. Plus there’s always the library. I’ll stick with them.

Great App for Discovering New Books. 5-Stars because the app works well and it does what it advertises. Also, customer support helped me resolve my hardware issue I was having (not due to their fault). Review: 15 minutes is too short of summary for an entire book, but it gives you a good idea about whether that book is an ideal read for you or not. I think I may prefer a 1-3 hour summary. A 1-3 hour “summary” may be short enough to listen in a day or two during commutes, but long enough to gain a better understanding about the true contents of the book. I switched over to audible because for me, I’d rather listening to a full book for 10 hours, than listen to a 15 minute synopsis.

One slight problem might keep me from staying. Edit: also, the people they have summarizing the books have a problem with keeping their own personal opinions out of the summary, which begs the question as to what else they might be adding or removing to these. I’ve changed my review to 1 star due to this because I’d really rather just read the actual book and know the author’s actual thoughts than be preached to by a second-hand source. I decided to try this since I’ve been hearing about it everywhere right now. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money for a subscription right now so I’ll have to make due with the one free that’s unlocked daily. The only problem I have is that if you add the daily free blink to your library under a free account there’s no way to delete it the next day because it goes back to being just another premium locked into your library. This makes it really hard to want to stay with this service if you can’t remove things after a lapsed payment since these short form “blinks” could really start to clutter up after awhile. Having a delete option, even if the blink is currently locked due to no being a subscriber, would be a nice improvement. Without it, I’m not actually sure I will continue using this, or even suggest that others use this service.

Big library but poor quality summaries. I really wanted to like this app/service. I read a lot and having access to quality book summaries would be very valuable. Unfortunately Blinkist doesn't deliver. Pros: there are a lot of books in the library...I was surprised that nearly every title I was interested in was available in the app. Cons: the book summaries ("blinks") are really subpar and don't provide a good overview of the book. I read several and they just skim the surface often missing the main idea of the book. I read blinks for books I've previously read and they never covered the big ideas in the book. Instead, they tend to focus on one or two themes in the book often missing the big picture and never providing a good synthesis. These are more like long book reviews rather than executive summaries.

Excelente reading source. Since I was born I found the habit or reading kind of stressful, and always that I tried to focus on reading it consume many of my energy. While using blinklist,I have enjoy each of everyone of the audiobooks that I have listened. Therefore I found this art of reading more like listening a movie. I recommend this app greatly to everyone and most,to how want to find any knowledge, and enjoy learning. There are thousands of books by any topic. If you are someone trying to making reading a habit and lack for some motivation or simply someone looking for specific information in short time, this is your app.

I have a list of 100’s of books to read and this saves me so much time…. Now, you might think that Blinkist has replaced reading books in their entirety for me. If you thought this, you would be wrong. I do not consider reading a blink (Blinkist summary of a book) to have a read a book. I also don’t use Blinkist to be able to post on social media that I read 50 books in a month. Just like any tool, it serves a purpose and you have to know what that purpose is. I read books to be able to input knowledge, frameworks, principles, and be able to quickly and consistently implement those into my life. Blinkist is amazing for this! I have a list of hundreds of amazing books that I would like to read that will probably change the way I think, feel, and act. I can read a Blink, quickly understand the framework and implement it in my life. But, Blinkist serves another very useful, time saving purpose… It allows me to very quickly get an idea of whether reading a book in its entirety would be worth my time for the depth of insight and knowledge it would provide. I use it as a filter to quickly weed out books that are not worth my time, so I can have time to read the books where every sentence deserves my attention regardless of how long it takes me. This is why Blinkist is amazing!

Speed up the film montag. Don’t want to spend the time to you know, better yourself? No need! I don’t like this app. It works fine. But I hate subscription models. You can spend as much money ( a little bit more monthly) and get an online library. Don’t like this app at all. If you want to read a book sit down and read it. Don’t let someone else read it for you and just regurgitate ideas but in a manner far inferior to the art it was ripped from. I believe this is a result of the iPad toddlers and tik tok generation having their brains melted, being incapable of complex thought and just fills the need quick stimulation. I work full time and i go to school full time and I still have enough time in my day to read whole books. Digests digests digests. It’s a terrible trend. This app is redundant. Unnecessary. I think this app only serves people who want to say they read but they don’t actually. They only know enough to have a casual conversation without any deeper knowledge of the art itself. Because why spend the time when you can just get the key ideas and move on. Terrible absolutely terrible.

I love this app, but I wish there were more languages. I think this app is wonderful in that it allows for you to be introduced to a variety of books in greater detail than you would normally be if you were to just read the synopsis/summary blurb on the inside cover. I also love the fact that it has options in English and in German— it’s great for those who are bilingual in those two languages if you select either German or English language options in the settings. What I wish the app did have, though, were more language options for us who are polyglots or who want to get better at listening to other languages. So maybe introducing other languages such as French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Korean, etc. I think would make this app better.

The best app I've ever downloaded. I've had this app for just a few weeks. In that time I've read nearly 40 blinks, and I can tell you without a doubt it is THE BEST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT!!!!! I've learned numerous amounts of information in various different subjects: science, psychology, self help/ improvement, and read the biographies of countless individuals. I truly feel in these last few weeks I've become wiser and learned more about the world than I probably have in the last 2 years (I'm an 18 year old college undergrad just for context). It's changed the way I approach my life too. I feel more secure, happy, and go about life with a much more positive and confident attitude. I reflect on myself more, actively seeking new experiences and love meeting new people. It's just made me so happy in life. Endless thanks to all the people who made this app. It's the best thing I've ever paid for!!!

Why We Love. I am a psychotherapist with a 25+ year career. I am constantly seeking tools for myself and my clients as we continue on our personal growth journey. I stumbled across this app and purchased it immediately after perusing it’s content. I have recently divorced after 31 years, 4 kids, and 1 granddaughter of being married to a Narcissist. I am an empath and even though I am a trained and licensed clinician, I have struggled to understand how I could have possibly have stayed in such an unhealthy union for so long. As I prepare to share my story in whatever format that will be, I must continue my life long journey of learning and this app is PERFECTION! It will continue to empower my daily commitment to become my BEST self!

Pandemic. Very informative. Thinking about origins and the chain of infection I developed thoughts relative to vectors within vectors. Almost sure SARS 2 would not have spread exponentially worldwide without air travel both internationally and across borders. It might be interesting to trace infected cases by traveled routes of origin and destination points and overlay on maps. This would give a new meaning to the phrase “fear of flying”. Cruise ships have long had problems before SARs2. Similar to confined spaces on airplanes only thousand instead of hundreds in close proximity with vectors disembarking and reembarking at several ports of call. This is scary. Control of vectors with international ground stops and docking and quarantining cruise ships and vectors might give timely preventive intervention to trace the source and slow the spread.

From 1-star to 5!. I originally posted a review because I was charged on the app despite picking their trial period. I emailed them and I got a response within 2 hours. In that time I read 2 book summaries and already highlighted parts of my life that I want to improve, and set out the system to implement them. You can tell I read Atomic Habits by James Clear. So I decided to keep the subscription because reading does bring me a lot of joy but busy life doesn’t allow me to sit and read as often as I’d like. Blinkist allows me to take away the salient points and it’s app is easy to use too. One improvement I’d love is to be able to highlight and add your own notes. This would really elevate the app for me but already I’m loving it. Podcasts are fantastic especially when an author is on them but reading their content allows thoughts to turn into action as you have to sit and read as opposed to multitasking whilst listening. Fantastic app! Thanks again for your quick response!

I wanted to Hear the wisdom of men.. I Got this app, to see if the wisdom of the world was worth hearing. I listed to wisdom, and self improvement as the types of literature I wanted to check out. Every book I listed to, through its summary, said one thing, put the Bible down and listed to the wisdom of your inner goodness. I thought to myself, if I wanted to teach people to stop eating vegetables, fruit, nuts and grains… and legumes. Things God has made for us to eat and enjoy. But instead, I wanted to convince people to eat pig excrement. I would first have to convince them to stop eating the sweet fruit, the savory vegetable, and the rich flavors of nuts and legumes so that they would forget to recognize that the pig feces is not for the mouth of men. This app kept send me these book reviews with these types of wisdoms. It was a burden, I care not for. Now that the subscription has expired, I am grateful.

Practical and Thought Proviking. Some times you are so immersed in situations it hard to see past the immediate situation. The tips listed in this book provide a different perspective and really make you think about your own situation giving realistic and sound advice to start making positive and pro-active change . I really like the advice about keeping a gratitude journal! You don’t realize how good your life is until you mast a list and write it down. Things happen for a reason and sometimes you have to be flexible, adjust and go with the flow. Counting your blessings goes long way and learning to say “NO” is a good thing!

Blinkist Does Not Support Apple Family Sharing. As of today, the Apple app store states that Blinkist supports Apple Family Sharing - it does not. Tech support for the app store was kind enough to spend an hour and 20 minutes with me trying to get our family members signed-in as Premium Blinkist members. They referred me to the developer to fix the issue. Blinkist, based in Germany, offers e-mail support. No phone support. With their help, I was successful in getting an additional member added to the primary Premium membership. All Premium members, whether they have Apple or not, have the ability to add an additional Premium member attached to their account at no additional cost. That’s nice, but it is not Apple Family Sharing which “makes it easy for you and up to five family members to share purchases of some of your favorite apps”. Our family participates in Apple Family Sharing and although we are pleased that an additional person can benefit from Blinkist Premium, we are disappointed that others are excluded.

Love it!. Blinkist offers me time to go through the important parts of a book (I tend to wander and have difficulty focusing understanding books when authors tend to overdo) It also gives me enough idea whether or not I should purchase the whole book version or not. I like the other contents that are added: the motivational snippets, interview of notable people who I am not familiar with. It is easy to use. I like the fact that I can choose between reading or listening to it. The price I paid is reasonable to what I get fr the app. I just wish I could figure out how to repeat a a part of the book (or a chapter blink) than repeating fr the very beginning of the book. If you are after novels to transport you somewhere else, this is not the app you would like to have.

BORING - NOT EVEN WORTH THE TRIAL. First, the way each book is summarized is incredibly boring—even for books with engaging and funny prose. Each summary is written and read without mimicking the original author’s style or voice. It’s as if Blinkist is trying to shorten every book into an excerpt from a second rate dictionary. The “audio” option Blinkist provides makes this even worst. Each Blinkist summary is read in a monotone voice , with little to no inflection, and absolutely no enthusiasm. I thought that maybe—just maybe—I had just been choosing each Blinkist summary poorly, and decided to stay past the trial to find out. Horrible decision. Each summary is written in such a monotone and uniform fashion, I have to force myself to finish a minute-long summary. Second, the audio only works if you have the Blinkist app open—no scrolling through other feeds or doing anything else. When I decided to finally cancel my subscription for the following month, I realized my fatal mistake. Although Blinkist advertises their monthly subscription, with the trial, you will automatically be charged for their YEARLY subscription. Even the company has no hope that their content is enough to keep customers coming back month to month.

Blinkist is a fancy, expensive time waster. I opted out of the free trial, since I read the reviews and thank goodness I did. Be wary of any app that won’t show you what you are purchasing before they take your credit card number. I can’t even tell if I want a free trial because I have no clue what is behind the locked gates of this app. I was curious but I’m protective of my credit card digits. I asked around to my friends about this app and heard some mumbles about increased productivity but once I dug deeper I realized that none of them actually used the app after the first week but were all charged the $100 because they did not cancel in time! So when blinkist says they’ve got tons of memberships sold it should read, “We tricked a bunch of busy people out of $100 by counting on their inefficiency in canceling within the first week.” HBO does the same thing and no one is mad about it. Just be smart and turn back on this app. There’s nothing to see here without giving them your credit card number and hoping you remember to cancel in time (which you probably won’t because you’ll forget this app exists long before the first week is over).

The service is amazing. The app. Not so much. I like Blinkist. It changed my morning routine entirely. Now i get to listen to the main ideas of a book instead of listening to same old music i used to listen to on my way to work. It couldn’t get any better. As a service it’s amazing and well worth the money. But the app. It’s a whole other thing. It does not have any bugs. It works fine. But many of the functionalities are not easy to access. For instance downloading a blink is not easily done. ( i had to look for it. Then i found out i should play a blink. Then change it in play list then i can download it. Just why?) or the fact that I cannot play a blink and browse the app. It’s just not possible. All these functionalities are implemented but poorly. That’s the only thing keeping this app from 5 stars

I’m “reading” 2-3 books a day. I love the idea and the execution. The narrators are engaging and the blinks get to the core concepts fast. There’s also some music and sound effects here and there that help you keep entertained and even push the story forward. What I like about Blinkist is that I can listen to a whole book on my way to the swimming pool and to another one on my way back! I would love though a feature to highlight or search words from books I’ve listened to, and to have links to a full store where I could buy the full books for books that have enticed me, but that I want to read in their entirety. Overall, fantastic job!!!

Perfect bite sized book snacks between Audibles. I listen to an Audible book 3-9 times a week and alternate between fiction and nonfiction. Sometimes I am traveling or have business meetings or jet lag and cannot keep the attention and focus to keep 20 characters or dates or concepts in my mind. By playing Blinkist books at 2x normal speed I can squeeze in a book while standing in line, riding in an Uber or as a bedtime story. These short and predictable burst are nice complements and I can always buy the Audible version if I like what hear on the Blinkist version. I also like the 3rd person referring to the author. Listening to so many audiobooks, I get weary of hearing the personal pronoun “I...I...I...” hundreds of times a week. I just want the information, not to be the author or be forced to see through his or her eyes, especially when the author is a whiner or complainer or bragger. There is a cool dispassionate neutrality to the Blinkist summaries. So, I’m a happy customer and hope my friends all sign up and raise the number of books they absorb the key messages of by one or two orders of magnitude per year.

Looking for more Balance and less Bias. I love the idea of this app, but after two and a half months of reading the free books almost every day the unacknowledged bias present in the types of books offered and the ways that the summaries are written is getting old. Certain world views (which I imagine naturally mirror the creators/ writers own) are written about in incredibly positive lights, for example Eastern religion and philosophy with titles like “Why Buddhism is True” without a balanced (let alone positive) look at really any other spiritual or religious world views. I can’t say I blame them, it makes sense to me that people would naturally select books they like and agree with to offer in a service like this, but because of what the platform is, I feel like they need to find a way to be either more neutral or more honest about the bias they are bringing in to these summaries. Hire some people who don’t agree on the big questions of life - then offer books from a wider variety of world views and I think there is a 5 star idea here.

So good, so much potential. The content and the wisdom that I’ve been finding in the blinks have been indispensable. I I love the power behind the brevity of the contents, but the downside is that you can go through so many of these blinks that some of the lessons can be forgotten. It would be great if there was more interactivity or actions and follow ups, that can be taken over the course of time. I do most of these while out for a walk, and I would love if there was a way to get reminders or notifications on follow up actions in the future. Even having something like workbooks or notes that could be collected as sort of like a personal library of notes, actions, highlights, or reminders.

Fantastic Concept, App Needs Work. I love this idea. A lot of nonfiction books can be distilled down to some key concepts. This is a way to gain a lot of information and ideas efficiently. The narration is good and I like that there is both written and audio options. My main frustration 2 days in is that I cannot figure out how to manage the order of my playlist. I would like to be able to prioritize the order of listening. It would also be nice to manage different playlists, so I can shift between topics. Overall I think the product is worthwhile, I would just love to see this improvement. The other feature I would like is to add notes about individual books. There is an option to highlight. That’s good if you are reading the printed version, but not as great for audio. Just a small text box for a few take away would be nice. Looking at other reviews, there are a lot of complaints about getting tricked into an annual trial. I am in a trial period and recall the charge and timeframe being clearly explained when I signed up. Maybe this is a new process in response. In any case, I don’t feel like it is in an intentional scam. The price seems fair for an annual- if you actually use the the product.

Don't Waste Your Time With Podcasts & Reading Entire Books. If you're an intelligent and a "motivated-lazy" millennial (like me), you're probably familiar CliffsNotes from life in academia. Why waste your precious will power in astute reading comprehension on literature read by thousands? Some gotta be better at it than you (despite you scoring 780 in it on your SAT) and have shared their findings. Here's what you've tried so far: *Searched Audible for book summaries from sketchy companies (where ironically English is their second language). *Tried Medium post summaries. *Followed those self-help gurus that rehash established material in their podcasts only to deceive you. These podcasts are actually made up of 30% sales talk about their sponsor and/or their products and 50% about their guest and 20% about the material in their podcast's title. It's a for-profit show, not PBS. Let's be honest with yourself. None of the above options helped you or made good use of your attention and time. Blinkist makes good use of your time and makes you think. Oh but I have to pay them! The horror! Well tally up all the time you wasted on your attempts to get here over the past year or two and multiply that by your hourly rate. Can you afford Blinkist now? Bet you can and a gift subscription or two! Don't fall for the free stuff - you get what you pay for! Class dismissed!

Yes, get it!. I’m finally getting caught up on all he titles I wish I could read. This app is awesome. The “blinks” are well written and embrace the message of the full versions of the books. I’m really enjoying broadening my knowledge and have found a couple titles I plan to read in full. Let me be clear, this app is not to review or sell books. It’s well written pages highlighting the important ideas in books. I was hesitant to purchase the yearly membership, but the week free trial convinced me, and I’m looking forward to diving into more titles. Thanks for offering this unique app for those of us who love to read and maybe don’t have quite the time to devote.

Perfect blend of an audiobook, spark notes and a podcast!. This app is amazing. It’s the perfect blend of an audiobook, spark notes, and a podcast. I have already recommended it to a number of my friends and family. I work in a time intensive role and used to love reading and constant learning, specifically nonfiction. I’ve found audiobooks are great - but I don’t have much time or attention to dedicate (and sometimes I want to drive and workout in silence to decompress). Then podcasts have a lot of extra ‘fluff’ sometimes. Blinklist gets down to the points in a concise manner, just like our favorite spark notes growing up. I love walking away with new information and insights with only ~15 minutes spent. It’s definitely worth the price. The only downside is it doesn’t have an Apple Watch app version. I’d love to be able to download to my watch and listen while out for runs/walks without having to bring my phone.

Great Customer Service. I downloaded the app as part of the 7 day free trial I signed up for. The app works great and the product is exactly as advertised. I just won’t use it enough to justify the subscription, and surely enough, I forgot to cancel in time and was charged for the year. I sent an email to customer support and they quickly canceled my subscription and refunded my money no questions asked. I am giving them 5 stars and definitely considering subscribing in the future. I’ve had so many bad experiences from companies acting deceptively and inconveniencing refunds to squeeze out pennies that I wanted to give them a shout out. Great company.

My absolute #1 go-to app for education and inspiration. Indispensable for daily commutes, house-cleaning chores, wind-down time before sleep and many, many other occasions. I tried the free version and loved it, so I decided to go premium and now there is no going back. Apart from the value of the Blinks themselves, I am especially captivated by the calm, reassuring voices of the narrators, such as Amanda Marr and Master York (hope I got their names right). The premium subscription is a bit pricey in my opinion, and this keeps me from giving away more of them as gifts, as I’ve already done with a son and a good friend. It seems to me that it would be both in Blinkist’s best interests and ours that gift subscriptions be cheaper, since this would help build the listener community faster and make sure we keep getting the quality app and content. It would also be nice that the available language options widen in the future, to include Spanish (in my case), so then I could recommend Blinkist to even more people.

Overall, the contents are so monotonous. I've been using this app for several month, and I realize that it should be explain there are a lot of self development book. I think more than 90 percent of book of here, is self development things. They should have said that. I only recommend this app for the person who extremely like self development book and wants listen only self development book. The reason I purchase this app, is to listen the book. novel, essay, or history, or information book. Sometimes I prefer to read self development book. If I search 'history' on this app. There aren't any history of world. Ah, only one I found fistory of Nigeria. Anyway Ioften come here, because I already purchase 1 year plan, but now, I'm so tired of listening only self development things. Of course self development things are good things, I agree with that. But this app should change their name SELF DEVELOPMENT things like that. I mean, the contents are so cofocused on self development. The contents are so monotonous. I don't usually upload my review on here, but I just stop by here and upload my review just after stop listening self development book again.

App needs work. The content is good and worth subscribing, but the app is very frustrating in one way: when listening over Bluetooth, the Bluetooth controls don’t work at all. I have tried with multiple different brands and types of Bluetooth audio devices, and none of them work. Example: Let’s say you have on some Bluetooth headphones or are connected over Bluetooth to your car. If you try to pause, the app doesn’t pause. If you try to go back or forward, that doesn’t work either. It’s maddening, and the developer needs to put this basic feature at the top of their to-do list. After they get the basic ability to play/pause and forward/back Bluetooth functionality working, they also need to let the user choose whether Bluetooth forward/back causes the app to skip forward/back between Blinks, or to seek 15 or 30 seconds, like many podcasting apps do. I always set my apps to let me seek back 15 or 30 seconds when using Bluetooth controls, so I can easily go back with one tap of my headphones to catch something I just missed. Developer: Please fix Bluetooth control of your app’s audio!

Needs better filter-ability. Loving this product! I think it’s providing an invaluable service to people who don’t have enough time to read full books. However, what needs serious work is the filter possibilities for my added books. I need semantic and qualitative filters, like what subject areas the books belong to, what topics they cover, and/or how welled rated they are by readers. Blinkist tries to “solve” this by allowing for manual tagging, but this does me no favors if I’m looking for something to read and haven’t read any of my books yet. Moreover, the overhead of adding tags is cumbersome. A better UX, such as auto-tagging and/or tag suggestions on adding a book to your list, could alleviate the issue. Regardless, Blinkist needs to be “smarter.” For a service seeking to simplify reading tons of awesome content, Blinkist sure makes it overwhelming to ultimately choose your book from your own list.

Needs more books but overall a great app. I’ve been using Blinklist for about 3 weeks now, and in my short time using this app, I don’t have many criticisms. As an avid book reader myself, sometimes its hard to find the motivation to read one. Some unfortunately just drone on and on, without presenting the underlying message in a easily digestible manner. This app provides a shortcut for users who simply just don’t have the time and or patience to sit and read for hours on end. The book summaries, provide it users with the authors main points, and while relatively short, are quite insightful. If I had one criticism with this app, it’s that it NEEDS MORE BOOKS! The content of the app is encompasses a lot of subjects, but at times seems “limited” in quantity. (I use that word sparingly). Overall I think that blinklist has the potential to be a groundbreaking app, but the developers need to refine it more and add a lot more content. In conclusion, it’s a great app, totally recommend!

Missing a lot of good books.. I’ve been a member for about 5-6 months now. I subscribed for a year when they had their Black Friday special. I love the concept of this app, I’m picky and I’ve only recently in the past two years gotten into reading (now I read everyday). This seemed like the perfect subscription for my dilemma of wanting to purchase and read many books, but avoid wasting my time with those that I weren’t what I was looking for. Also, for those I was only mildly interested in, I could listen to the Blinkist and get the general idea without wasting my money on a book I didn’t feel was worth the purchase. Anyway, the reason I’m only rating it 3 stars is because it’s missing a lot (I mean a lot) of books I’m interested in. Many of the books I’ve looked for aren’t obscure either. Most of what I’ve been reading and looking for are books on minimalism and some personal growth. They are also typically books I’ve seen reference to several times in multiple other minimalism books as well. I’m not sure if others have run into this problem with other genres or subjects but it’s been kinda disappointing. I won’t be continuing my subscription after this year is up. Not in a petty kind of way but it’s more like this subscription is not very helpful to me when hardly any of the books I’m interested in are on it. *Sadface*

Double billed, login errors, poor cx exp. I reached out to customer support to let them know that 1) my login would never work and there was a bug. Finally I got it to work on my own. Then, it showed I had 2 accounts. I emailed support and they said they would look at it. No response until I was double billed. Then they mentioned I needed to contact Apple as if it was their fault, which doesn’t make any sense because if I was double billed they could have refunded the one they saw. I even provided a screenshot of the 2 accounts it was showing. Blinkist has tons of potential, especially once they provide the option for full audio and digital text (read along with audio is something that would really be neat), going further would love to see multiple languages so you can learn new ones and read along with the voice, while cross comparing to the other language.

Horrible Experience. I submitted the request for support below and the response I received stated that they were unable to assist me because my purchase was made through apple not directly from them. However my request (if they really read it) was really asking that the app that I paid for actually work. I would love the concept and love to free blink or two I was able to read but cannot rate them well because I did not get full use of the product I paid for. "I signed up for the trial. Asked to to cancel subscription on the day you charged me for the full subscription. You would not cancel and refund my money, however the subscription has not worked for me for the entire time. When i attempt to read an article it prompts me to subscribe again. Please ensure that i have access to my subscription (and extend it for free) or refund me my money. I will report this to apple and write a review describing how terrible my experience has been with the app and service from your company." Alison, Troubled customer

Love the service, but the app could use a lot of work.. I absolutely love this service. The combination of written and audible summaries, just the perfect length, make it a great annual investment. Really disappointed, though, in the app. Couple of things that drive me nuts. Newer titles stop until you read them. I get it. They want people to repeat titles and by forcing you to dig your phone out of your pocket when you were exercising, you begrudgingly offer a review. However, when I’m trying to listen to a few books in a row while exercising, I find it very annoying. Also, the flow of the app is clunky. For instance, I struggle with the difference between the library, the queue, saved, favorite, etc. It could really benefit from a UX overhaul.

Great content, but has a few flaws.. Overall I love the idea. It’s essentially Cliff notes with an audio book option. However, I don’t love the constant plugging of blinks. “In this blink…” “ the next blink…”. It’s distracting, ruins your flow of thought, and very cheap feeling for such a nice app. Second, I wish the ‘Librabry’ would let you organize your saved books into categories. Tags, themes, etc… Lastly, the audio feature is not great. Gaps between the ‘blinks’ are long, and the app occasionally loses connection all together. Lastly, the ‘Follow’ feature for blinks is laughably bad. You have to choose to get notifications in order to follow. What?!? Overall wonderful idea though, but app could certainly use improvements.

Saved items auto save text but not audio. I saved 63 items and I was trying to download them all for my travel on my iPad so I could read them on the plane. The audio is cool but I’m a faster reader and like the highlight option. I didn’t realize that the text is automatically saved when I save the item! This is an amazing feature that I recommend Blinkist call out. (Maybe a “text saved” icon vs “audio saved” option?) Audio download wise, I tried download one item at a time without issue. Trying to download multiple items at a time fails 90% of the time. Trying to download all the items at the same time fails 100% of the time.

Finally a way to read the books I want in the time I have. I love reading. I’m also neurodivergent. I tend to get overwhelmed by large books, especially self help books because I don’t know if I’ll have time to get through the whole thing. This app solved two problems. It’s allowed me to read the books I want to read and get the takeaways I want to get with the time I have. It’s also allowed me to improve my relationship with my phone. Instead of scrolling through social media, I can now improve my mind and get back to work feeling motivated and not dragged down. I really appreciate this app. I’d love a wider selection of books about science or history, but as someone who really loves reading about self improvement, there’s more than enough here to keep me engaged. Big thanks to the whole Blinkist team for reading all these books and giving good notes on them.

Service is Good, App not so much. While overall I like the content they provide. The app as a lot of annoyances. To start off they don’t respect your push notification preferences. They have an option to turn off “recommended reading” notifications as well as other options. It turned it off yet still got notifications, had to turn off notifications for the app completely in the system settings. Second the nagging in the app is obnoxious. It constantly pops messages in the app to use different features. For example the spaces feature, if I have dismissed the message to start using that feature for the hundred time. The odds are I know it exists and that I don’t have and use for it. So stop nagging me about it alight! Sorting is also lacking. Why can’t you see recently added items that are also “unread.” It’s annoying to see already read/listen to items keep showing up in different lists. I want to easily see content I haven’t already seen. Why does the app make that so difficult? Again I like the summaries they provide, but the app hampers the experience. I hope they work to improve the experience.

Becoming Enlightened. Wonderful to have so many ideas, views, and knowledge at my fingertips. I find myself stopping the blinks and taking notes. These are books that I wouldn’t normally purchase because I could not afford them monetarily or time wise (not enough time to read). Probably the most important thing I have learned this past year plus has been to listen to people whose opinion differs from mine. I am learning why they have their beliefs. That they have them for many different reasons. You know we all are just trying to find meaning in our lives. We are trying to understand the world. Just like everyone else who has been alive. I also will purchase a book whose blinks I have listened to if I want to go deeper. Thank you for adding meaning to my life! I usually listen when I am doing something else like cleaning or cooking.

Expensive and shallow. I have read through a few “blinks” of recent books I have read. Not only do the blinks miss key concepts, they are also shallow and leave a lot to be desired. Some writers, like Michael Pollan, write very beautifully. The writing is just as much of an experience as the actual information within the book. The blinks capture none of this. This is essentially an expensive version of the free website “sparknotes. Don’t waste your money. If you are a busy person and don’t have time to sit down and read, try audiobooks. You still get the full concepts, and will be able to interpret them in your own way- not through some other writer. For people who spend the $100 on this app- try to think back to a blink you read over a month ago. Do you actually retain any of the information? My guess would be no.

Love it!!. I love this app so much started a monthly subscription so as to see how much I use it! I love the recommendations of books for me very reflective of my likes! I do like reading or listening to snippets of information to see wether the book is one I would like to read in entirety. Some I haven’t loved so know need to waste precious time and read the whole book. Others after reading the blinks wanted more, so purchased it! I have audible also but I love how tailored it is and how much more I am reading about a range of topics rather than getting stuck on one book and then losing interest in it and then reading! Highly recommend! Bought my mum a subscription too! Highly recommend! Quite addictive!

Audio issues and blinks and concepts sometimes don’t align. I’m enjoying the app but I’ve had some issues with audio. I’ve found sometimes a blink will stop playing halfway through and just go silent. It looks like it’s still playing but there’s no audio. I have to scrub the audio and it re-caches and continues playing. Another issue I’m having is when blinks are in a playlist (example the Elon Musk one). Personally I’d rather all of the links to keep playing one after another but they seem to stop at the end of each book. Lastly I’ve found some of the blinks are either too short or the key concept at the end of each blink doesn’t make sense with the edited chapter of the book. Some more work needs to go into this.

Thank you. I have been enjoying a free subscription to Blinkist for several months, which has allowed me 1 random ‘blink’ per day. I can’t quite afford the premium service, but the good people at Blinkist have offered all users a Premium Subscription for the month of April to promote health and well-being during these challenging times. It was always a great app - worthy of 5 stars. But this recent offer has encouraged me to write a review and encourage others to jump on board!

Great app supported by AMAZING customer service!. Blinkist is a fantastic app. By far the most detailed and accurate blinks (summaries) of some fantastic non fiction titles. The library grows every day and has intuitive suggestions after you have listened to a book. The audio is clear and precise - no important points are missed. Even more amazing than the app (if you can believe it!) is the customer service team. I recently had a payment query for them and Colin and Stefanie from Blinkist Support replied within minutes to each of my emails and resolved all of my queries. Fast, friendly and professional. If only all customer services teams were the same. Thank you Colin and Stefanie!

Great to preview books to read, and refresh ones read already. The app is simple to use and with a UI focused on the content. The daily blinks and the Simplify podcasts are great sources of inspiration. Highlighting freezes the app on my iPad Air on iOS 11.4 every 3 or 4 attempts. Other than that it’s a great app. Totally worth the cost of the subscription even if you listen to a blink per week.

Love it!. It’s awesome to get these bite sized chunks of info each day. Not too overwhelming, full of actionable advice and a whole range of topics that I’d probably never look into myself. I honestly feel Blink is helping me grow as a person, one step at a time. I get so excited to see which Blink is being offered as the free Blink of the day and it energises my drive home.

Highly recommend download!. I’ve always loved reading and learning new things, but with today’s busy life I don’t really get the chance to read as much as I’d like. This app was recommended to me so I thought I’d give it ago. The first few hours into the free trial I love it! I prefer reading my books but having them as 15 minute audio books is fantastic. I’m able to do my work, drive, cook and listen to all these fantastic books hitting the key points of the book. If you don’t like listening to the books you can read summarised versions of them. The best part is, once you pay for your membership you don’t have to pay for each book you download!

This is a top ten favourite apps. The decision to buy the subscription is one of the best decisions I ever made. I am in love with this app. It’s exactly what I need to absorb key information quickly, listen to something interesting, or get the key ideas from a book before I buy it so I can have a better understanding of if it’s what I’m looking for. Life changing!

I’m really liking this app so far…. But I really wish there was a way to save collections in your library. Whenever I read the blinks of the first book in a certain collection, the collection then disappears from the home page and recommended, so I have to search for it again.

7 day trial. I really wanted to sign up for the 7-day trial, but to do that they want my payment information. Uh, no. You can have my payment information IF I enjoy the 7 day trial and decide to continue, not before. When you ask for financial information during a trial, that behaviour screams “dodgy” to me. You’re making money off people who forget to cancel after the trial. If there is a way to sign up for the 7-day trial without payment information I will amend my review. Why on earth would a 7-day FREE trial trigger a payment process. It’s called a FREE TRIAL? Charge me after that if I want to continue.

Saves me time. I appreciate being able to get a sense of a book, without the full investment of having to read it. Through reading the blink, I can decide quickly whether it’s worth devoting more time and energy into reading the whole book.

Good but need more options. When I signed in I was only given the option of buying a yearly membership. I would rather if the service was offered weekly or monthly, so that I could use it during periods where I had the time to read. (Like during my holidays or after my current work project finishes) I’d really like a user pays service so that I don’t have to subscribe to an entire year, but just when I’m going to be using it.

Enriched. The unbiased knowledge that I have gained on different topics, throughout this app is refreshing. The format of this app is very clever and a useful tool available to anyone, who has a passion for learning. This app when exposed to an open mind, puts the reader in a better place. Than before reading the blink. Thank you, who ever created this app, as it will help the betterment of humanity. God knows we need it now as never before.

Love this app!. As a senior in high school, this app is perfect for me as I can read a free blink every day and it only takes a few minutes. I always look forward to what I’ll be reading each day, due to the variety in selections and the relevance and currency they have within what’s happening in the world as well as timeless, interesting perspectives on subjects such as stress. Seriously...love...this...app!!!

Really cool idea just a bit greedy with the price point.. Had to delete because it seems so expensive to me, for what it is. You can google the same info for free. The app puts it in a lovely package and it’s all easy to use, looks lovely etc, but it’s just too pricey for what is essentially free, easily found information. Sorry developers, not meaning to be negative but I’m sure you guys need feedback good and bad to further your business.

Doesn’t seem to work with new Apple iPhone 14. Unfortunately doesn’t seem to work the new iPhone. Tried everything to reconnect but wants me to buy a new subscription. When I try that it says I’m already subscribed. Please fix as soon as possible

The start to my day. I have been using Blinkist for about 3 months now - it is an essential part of my morning routine. I enjoy it as I read blinks of books that I would have never normally chosen for myself. It also provides inspiration to go onto read the original book. The App itself is easy to use and clearly laid out.

Brilliant idea but... I absolutely enjoyed the free trial - two things stopped from subscribing - the prices of the plans are fairly high so you’d have to be sure that you’re invested, and that you’ll be using the app enough times a month before you pay. So it’s not for someone like me who’s trying to pick up a new (reading books) habit gradually. - I loved listening to blinks while commuting or driving, but unfortunately if I’m playing my saved blinks it doesn’t play the next one automatically even though in the setting i have ticked the box to do it so it just stays on the screen that asks for rating. So when I’m driving every time a blink ends I’ll just switch to music or wait for a stop to play another blink which is a tad bit frustrating and I’ve only used it for few days.

Convenient tasters. It’s great to read from Blinkist. If I want to buy the whole book after reading the short version I can. I enjoy reading whole books and savouring the process and also enjoy having a solid idea of what the book is about before purchasing. It’s like going to the bookshop and browse reading before buying.

Good idea. After hearing a few books it gets quite annoying to only have 1% of the book. Update 1 I think my review was unfair so I am updating it. Even though the blinks are short and only provide a brief snapshot of the whole book, wether summarised knowledge is more harmful then the full is for you to decide. I am inclined to say that the app can still be useful in many ways. For the amount I paid for a yearly subscription, to expect full book’s worth of knowledge for so many books is unreasonable. I believe the Blinkist team have put together a very good app, the interface is highly intuitive, the narrator's are pleasant to listen to, lots of bright minds have put in effort to summarise these books. I appreciate the highly talented people that were involved in making this artful, exciting experience that keeps on delivering.

Love it. Really good for the time poor person who loves to learn. Constantly being told about this and that book and this app lets me get the key points of the book in less than 30 minutes. If I want to know more than purchasing the full edition of the book is always an option. Thanks!!

Misleading and Buggy. During my free trail,I have been unable to access any content. Without signing up to more conditions. What’s the point of a free trail if I cannot actually try any of the content. This is a 35 million dollar startup and their price point is way off, for the services they are offering. How can you legitimately offer a 15 min condensed synapses of a “self help” book. Seriously isn’t personal development dependent on the individual. I don’t think correlating the most highlighted texts and condensing them into a 15 minute review is actually worth your subscription price. I do understand that is “one” of your genres, and does not mean the same throughout. More or less I didn’t actually see many books that were backed up with facts and static’s, more so of the pseudo psychology vibe. Also I don’t trust this app, I got offered a 20% discount because I haven’t finalised my subscription. So what is the real price point here? If your just handing out this discounts to people who are actually thinking about their purchase. Overall this app could be very beneficial to the collective and humanity, But as it stands right now I feel Blinklist is just trying to ride a wave in the “self improvement field” and cash a big check at the end. Feel it out for yourself, something is off with the integrity of this app.

How have I not found this sooner????. For all of you who learns best through reading - but find yourself not having the time to digest one whole book, omg this will change your life!! I have always found an aha moment in every blink I've read- it's that powerful!

Waiting for CAR PLAY compatibility. Love the app, listening to blinks. I have found the time I am doing this the most is in the car. My only wish is to be able to select my blinks when I get in the car, not before. Most times I don’t and then end up listening to other content on the PODCAST app which is car play compatible.

Great for time poor readers.. I'm enjoying reading the key points and highlights of a diverse range of books on Blinkist. I've learned so much without having to read many pages of the book. I'd rather read other books all the way through - such as fiction - although there are some books I'll probably read in full, now that I've read the key points on Blinkist. The only thing I'd like to change is the American voices reading the points. I find them a little annoying at times. Maybe it's because I don't live in America. (Sorry to any Americans out there!).

Best subscription ever!. I love this app. Love this subscription. All those interesting titles that catch your attention, capture your imagination, but you know you’ll never have time to read in their entirety. Read or listen (great if you spend a lot of time in vehicles), you’ll find yourself looking forward to your next blink!

Don't touch it. You will be charged after free trial even if you cancel.. This is a scam. Don't go anywhere near it. I signed up for the free trial, decided I didn't like it at all, so tried to cancel on the same day. Of course they make it very hard to cancel so I tried and tried and checked with Blinkist to make sure I had really cancelled. It said that I had on my profile and the representative stated "then you must have cancelled" when I sent her a copy of that page. Nevertheless, sure enough, they whacked me for $120 once the "free" trial was over. I am disputing it with PayPal but Blinkist are digging their heels in. Appallling business practice. Avoid like the plague.

Used to be good, don’t waste your money now! (April 2020). This app was good for the past couple of years. I have been a premium subscriber for that time, however now suddenly there are all these audio books listed in my home page that I have to buy? I just want the blinks! That I have already paid for! Also all the blinks in my library now default to audio. I want to read them like I always have! Cancelled my subscription as this is a huge change and not what I signed up for. Not sure if this was a massive UX fail or a greedy company, I was already paying for what was a great service. Why did you break something that was so good? So disappointed. Guess I’m back to reading book synopsis on the Kindle store now :(

Absolutely love it!. I was put onto Blinkist by a friend of mine and WOW! I honesty couldn’t thank him enough, it really has allowed me to synthesise information and learn far more efficiently than before. Obviously, reading a book from cover to cover is the best way to maximise your understanding of the material it’s just not feasible sometimes in this day and age with work, gym, the family, social responsibilities, etc. Having Blinkist really gives me a short, reliable and enjoyable avenue to keep learning daily! I love it!

Excellent content. Terrible audio listening experience.. I want to consume more of the content from this app. But as it stands, I simply cannot because of how badly audio listening experience has been designed. When a blink is playing, using the headphone remote to rewind a few seconds simply takes the user to start of the blink, which is infuriating. This would be a simple enough fix to make, but this hasn’t been done in months after reporting the issue. Also, when attempting to pause audio playback while using AirPods simply pauses for a second and continues along. Whereas I could use Blinkist in all the times I would be listening to Podcasts while in transit or running or walking, those use cases are completely dismissed because of the above issues. As it stands, I have used the service a fraction of how much I would, and would not be renewing the sub.

Bills you $124 after 6 days. This is deliberately misleading, you’re offered a 7-day trial, but are billed for a whole year of subscription if you don’t opt out 6 days before the 7 days ends. Change it to monthly like other services. Content looks varied, but a lot of it looks like the standard ‘self help’ drivel - emotionally and personally written instead of objective and statistical. Knowing that the items are so short I would put my money toward Audible instead - it’s a bit more expensive, but the content is more diverse, and you can chip away at better things like ‘The Great Lectures’ in your 15 minutes. Consistent learning will be better retained than slipping into the warm bath that is modern short attention span anyway.

First time listeners. A real time saver and brilliantly summaries on the key note from the books. Importantly though if you want read the full book for more deep and wider info so you can learn more this make it easier to make that decision moving forward to do that.

Just want to subscribe. I love this app and I have been using it for the all free month of April. Received an email telling me that it is over and I can now pay for a year subscription for 50% off which I would love to do. Bad luck the email and app are not in sink and for some reason I need to give my credit card details again. No I just want to pay thought the app with my Apple Pay. Please help. If I can t. I will refuse to pay for a full year subscription normal price and you will loose a costumer.

Not worth it. I forked out the $124 for a year subscription as I thought it would be worth it. Personally I found the short summaries of books to be Luke warm versions of what the book is actually saying. The strong American accents on some of the books is really off putting. I stopped using this app and moved over to Audible which has been a life changer. I deleted Blinkist and forgot about it until they hit me with another $124 a year later with no warning! My fault for not unsubscribing, but after a few months I had forgot all about it. Don’t waste your money here, spend it on an Audible subscription where you can listen to the entire book and absorb everything the book offers. I’ve tried to get a refund for this product that I don’t use but I’ve had no luck yet, I don’t think this is fair.

Misleading but a great idea. I found this app to be extremely misleading which has lead to my low rating. I saw the app advertised in a game I play and it grabbed me straight away, the concept is fantastic! And to be honest the ‘blink’ I have consumed since downloading was amazingly in depth and so interesting. The part I didn’t like was the app is promoted as a Free App but all content inside is paid, although it does mention you can access the full library for a subscription I would expect more than one ‘blink’ in the free daily section given the vast content available. Granted there is a very high chance that I will eventually purchase a full subscription, but two things for sure are that 1. I will not be doing so from a single ‘blink’ I will make an educated decision based on content relevance and interest and the utilisation I get from the app. And 2. I don’t intend to do so at a up front payment of $125ish dollars. Hoping more features are offered to free users in the future and better options for subscribers so as not to be hit with a years worth of fees upfront, that is non refundable. As a consumer I tend to prefer subscriptions that are paid for on a ‘monthly as used’ basis or even at times a month in advance so that if I don’t see value in maintaining the subscription I don’t loose out financially (at least not an overly large amount)

UX. First time I used great platform!!! One minor thing that can be improved is the UX (user experience). When you read it you need to chose the section. That is great!!! because you can come back or skip but it should be also a function that allow you to read continuously one section to another automatically and also be able to pause it and continue. The reason for this function is that sometimes you open the same section you are reading and you need to go back an pick the subsequent. It is a minor task but distract the flow of your learning. However, congrats!!!! I will recommend the app to all my students and friends.

Perfect for busy dad.. I went from reading books to audiobooks to Blinkist and couldn’t be happier. I’m usually strap for time to sit down and read so Blinkist is a welcome change. Love that I get the “essence” of the book and avoid the fluff. If I need a reminder of certain techniques, it takes me 15 minutes to refresh my memory. As a busy dad who loves books, I couldn’t recommend it enough. My new daily app.

Better off getting an audiobook subscription.... Traffic is not getting any better!! With an hour a day you can get an in depth understanding on the subjects your really interested in. While the app is very user friendly and has high production value, I feel the concept is wrong. Fifteen minutes might be enough for an update on the latest Hollywood gossip but this format only allows for a very superficial understanding of more complex and nuanced topics. Word of the day! Noun. pseudointellectual (plural pseudointellectuals) A person who claims proficiency in scholarly or artistic activities while lacking in-depth knowledge or critical understanding. By all means try it for yourself but set a reminder to cancel in time😉 “It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.” Mark Twain

Good idea, good content, terrible CarPlay. I love Blinkist, and have found many good books on it. I like the intro and summary added by the narrators. I like that you can request other books be added, although this could be improved by linking to a wider source. The biggest problem, and my reason for not continuing my subscription, is the terrible CarPlay experience. Listening in the car is when I usually have the most time. Using CarPlay, Blinkist stops after most blinks, requiring the phone to be unlocked and the app brought to the foreground, go to the now playing screen and play or advance to the next blink. You can’t do that while driving! Also sometimes stops sending audio - the play progress keeps advancing but no audio until the app is forced closed and reopened (s in the car). Once CarPlay is fixed, this will be a great service.

Fabulous. Ever pick up a book and think I’d love to read this but how am I going to find the time? Or make the time only to discover that it really isn’t giving you what you were looking for? I’ve just read so many blinks in this app and it has made it so much easier to find authors and content that I really relate to and want to explore further. I set aside time each day to read two or three blinks and it is really helping me shape my move into running my own business and improving my quality of life. I am now able to expose myself to many more authors and content effectively and expediently and choose those which are most beneficial for me. Love it.

Brilliant summaries!. I’ve been loving having Blinkist and discovering so many different books that I normally wouldn’t have time to explore. Most of the narrators do an excellent job and are easy to listen to as well. It’s also great to have a recap of books I’ve already read or listened to in full.

Just loving it.... My life has changed for the better, and it only took a simple step. Each morning while taking the train to work I listen to a new book on Blinkist. I find it not only educational but inspirational, but most importantly it put me in a happy and motivated frame of mind before I enter the office and the busy day that lays ahead. Sapiens. I started reading the physical book a couple of years ago. I put it done and never got back to picking it up again . What a wonderful tool Blinkist is to extract the main ideas of such books . I now have a better chance of keeping pace with the latest & not so latest ideas. Even though I am retired I find that I am short on time to read. This app wil certainty mitigate that problem for me. Thanks guys

My favourite subscription app. Obsessed with this app. It’s liberating. I’m a working mother of 2 preschool children and as much as I would love to have time to read books, I just don’t. Even audio books can be hard work to focus on for hours. I only have 20min pockets of time to focus on listening to something and this makes Blinkist audio just perfect. I consumed 30 books in my first month. I also normally find books a bit wordy just to fill up the pages and create perceived value without adding value, so having the books summarised to the points that are key take aways that you’d remember anyway is just perfect.

Hate reading, love learning - perfect. For someone who hates reading but loves learning - Blinkist was made for me! All the books I’ve wanted to read but just couldn’t are summarised so well and give me just enough information to understand what the book is about & more... The audio version available with some books has changed my life! Thank you

Dunno yet. Apparently I’ve been a paid up member since august … over 5 months… and while I knew I had the ap- I had no idea if paid $119 for the year till I was casually going though my subscriptions. Maybe I accidentally selected free trial. Who knows!! I had lockdown brain in august. This is why I don’t do “free” trials. Edit… so I reached out to support and they said they can’t help and I should speak to apple??? Zero help And I still have not been able to listen to one single blink.

Best app ever. Full stop.. This app has helped me in both my personal and working life. Not only is my brain full of meaningful life changing knowledge which helps guide me towards self improvement on the daily - but it also has helped me impress bosses and colleagues, validating my expertise in a myriad of fields. The app even motivates me on a daily basis - injecting energy into my mornings. I wouldn’t be without it! Now just have to work out a way to not be an irritating know-it-all 😂 thanks blinkist!!

Great way to read books and stay up with what you want to know!. Been wanting to read more but just can’t seem to find the time, just read a whole book I’ve been curious about in less than 15mins! Amazing! It was succinct and covered everything I needed to know , well done Blinkist!

great app. I’ve been enjoying this app but i wish it had a little more depth in the summaries. I’ve compared the summarised versions to the actual books I’ve read and I worry insights are not completely captured in the summaries. Also a feature that would be fantastic is text tracking with audio narration (similar to kindle) to engage both the auditory and visual inputs for greater memory and learning.

Would Have Been Five Stars But…. Not enough female readers. There’s something a bit off putting about hearing a woman author’s work read by a man all the time. The book summaries are excellent and Blinkist is really worthwhile for anyone who reads a lot. I tried it out on a couple of books I know quite well first. I’m pleased I gave it a go and I’ll be going for the paid version. The missing gender balance thing is the only disappointment and I hope Blinkist can remedy it.

Cool idea, poor performing app. I love the idea behind the app and the blinks themselves are absolutely great - I really enjoy listening to them. It really frustrates me though with the poor offline syncing of the blinks. Blinks marked as downloaded won’t play without Internet. Some blinks can’t be deleted, or keep reappearing as downloaded. App very regularly “syncs” downloaded blinks which can take upwards of 3 minutes while users must twiddle their thumbs and wait before they can proceed to listening to a blink. (This is the reason for the low rating).

Beware Not for Nomads-Criminal Organization. Beware as now that GoTo owns Grasshopper they no longer support nomads and will take down your account without notice or refund. After 1.5 hrs on the phone and on hold, going through 4 agents. No answer as to why my account disappeared. Finally I did get a refund, but not in full! Look like the stole a month of charges. After mentioning to the last agent that, I wasn’t interested in trying again and was just going to try RingCentral (Not that they are better). He offered a wonderful discount. So i tried again (I know, my stupidity!) only with a monthly payment plan and bang within 48hrs. Account vanished again, no email, no call, no refund. Do not trust them! I hope they enjoy their stolen money

What the hell do people have to do to protect their banking information. I’ve read through the comments of people that tried this. Every comment states the same thing, they take your money unauthorized for a year. With no refunds available🤯 people are stating that these are a waste of time and the voices on the books are very annoying. The content is not even any good. What the hell consumers should be able to contact BBB and have these sites taken down and the people on this account should be charged. MORE SCAMS OUT THERE THAN NECESSARY THIS IS FRAUDULENT AND PEOPLE NEED TO WIRK TOGETHER TO TAKE THIS SITE DOWN.

Misleading. Not free, took the time to delete stuff to download it. Wasn’t free as it said it was. Scummy marketing tactics

Beware- Scammy way to get your subscription. If you choose to try out the free trial, beware. The subscription defaults to a yearly subscription and you will be automatically charged $112.99!! There is no mention of this when they offer the free trial. I feel totally scammed and ripped off. Will be telling everyone I know about this scammy company. I want a refund.

Beware of free trial. I tried Blinkist on their free trial and let the subscription renew, thinking I would keep it for an extra month membership but it auto renews for a full year and since I was under the assumption it would renew for a month I did not realize within their 2 week refund period. I am now out $100 for this app and feel scammed. Why is it set to auto renew for a while year and not monthly like other apps? Feels deceitful and shady.

Regularity. Blinkist helps me reach my goal of reading every day in a smooth and effective way. I particularly appreciate being able to listen to the blinks when time is tight and I don’t want to sacrifice my daily stretching for example. Thanks for this great APP! Michel

Liked it!. I enjoyed the 7 day trial, but unfortunately I cancelled as it appears the only option is an annual subscription for Canadian users. If there were a monthly option I would pursue it further.

Heavily biased material. Top search results are a bit on the woke side. Would like to see some alternative content

Careful: they still charges after you unsuscribed. Wasn’t able to have a refound. Hope they won’t steal another 100$ from me next year but apparently there is not much i can do.

Free Users Only Get 1 Pre-Chosen Read Per Day. Well Set Up, Easy To Use. Free Users Only Get 1 Pre-Chosen Read Per Day (Kinda Sucks, If You Miss A Day You Don’t Get To Go Back To Hear It), Paid Users Get Unlimited Use.

DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. For an app I barely used, it automatically subscribed and charged my account $160 dollars. It’s criminal to charge someone without their consent! I WANT A REFUND!

Deceptive. Signed for free trial then upsold to a $100 annual subscription without my awareness. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SCAM.

Not the best. I couldn’t find the book I wanted to read and the app was very confusing would not recommend

I want my money back. I tried the 7 day free trial and then was charge 172$ for the annual subscription!!! I would have paid for one month, since a 7 day trial is not enough time to determine if I want to use the app for a whole year. But I got charged for one year and I'm really mad and having trouble with Apple getting my money back which is causing me even more irritation towards this app. I'm in disbelief that they charged me 1 year and have never used an app free trial that has charged me such an amount. I don't want to ever hear another Blinkist in my life so please give me my money back for a service that I will not use.

It’s a paid app. Be aware! It’s free to download, but everything in this app is locked unless you pay a subscription.

⚠️Do not give your credit card info⚠️. I’ve gone through this several times. Free trial! Give us your info and we’ll let you know when your free trial expires. I never got any emails and got charged $16. This is a typical move to get your credit card information and leaves a sour taste in a customers mouth when they see “free trial.” If you say you’re going to send out a motivation to say your free trial is ending, at least honour that. This is frustrating and happened all the time to people.

Remember to cancel your trial period. App claimed that it would remind you when trial period ends, but obviously it lied. Remember to cancel your trial period, or it automatically charges you an annual subscription fee.

This company scammed me. Gave me a week free trial, but when I cancelled it, they still charged me and went into overdraft on my credit card, charging me an extra 100$ and now messing up my credit. Absolutely disgusted at how they did this to me. Appalled at customer service too. Terrible and insidious workers and company. Stay away

Cancelling. It’s is impossible to cancel this automatic renewal. Does not matter how good the app is if they don’t let you cancel it!!!!!

Time consuming to cancel membership. In the app they print that the app will expire on a specific date and will not auto renew. Guess what? It’s not true they will charge you $104 anyways. Very dishonest company. Membership cannot be cancelled in app...they make it very time consuming to cancel.

Cant try the app.. Sorry I’m not signing up for $120 plan because it’s the only way to get a free trial. If there’s no other way to try out the app, then all that reading isn't making these developer any smarter. Waste of a download.

Horrible customer service. I had bought their service from the website. Right when the pandemic hit, I got recharged for full price for the whole year. I requested a refund immediately explaining the situation. But never heard back from them to this day (Jan 2021). Due to this, I’m never subscribing again with a company that would ghost customers like that.

Scam!. I signed up for a 7-day trial, didn’t like the app, canceled subscription within only TWO days and still got charged on my credit card.

No Notice of Charge. Blinkist did not give me notice before the end of a free trial and charge me $99 for a year subscription. I wouldn’t have signed up because there’s a very limited leadership selection of book titles.

Tried it with 9 titles. Yawn.. Dear Blinkist, Thank you for the trial. I have now tried Blinkist about a day and listened to close to 9 blinks. I am unsubscribing. Maybe there is a good intention somewhere in the business mission, but I don't see it. I found very irritating the voices of the nine blinks I heard. It’s my impression the format of this "blinks" cheapen, minimalize and demean what is contained in full-length books. It's tasteless and forgettable. Imagine you're in a restaurant and you order a plain or gourmet meal and you receive a meal in a capsule. You direct your surprise to the waiter who replies, "Yes it’s tasteless, but take it with water and it will give you what you need." I find Blinkist encourages a lazy grasp for wisdom and cheapens principles of literacy, so all I can say again positively is... Thank you for the trial. Alan .

No words to express!!. Great app as I can read one condensed book everyday for free!!!!

Expensive & bad practice. A free trial that comes with an automatic annual subscription enrolment is unacceptable practice.

Not worth it. Read lots of blinks. Not smarter for it. Reading someone’s summary of a book is not nearly as effective as reading an actual book. An annoying feature: If you ever read the same blink twice, it will remind you of how stupid you are and poor your memory must be by saying “you had to read this blink twice”.

“Free” trial becomes a $99.99 charge. Had to insert my credit card info to get a 7-day trial. Did not like the product, tried to cancel the trial, deleted my account, sent 2 emails to Customer Service but still was charged $99.99. Still did not managed to get my money back

New Library Design Is Terrible. The old design was very functional and simple to use. The new design is user-hostile: - There are choices for saved, read, and downloaded. But not unread which is probably the most often used choice. - The choice for saved and see all (beside recently added) do the same thing. - The favourite option (heart) at the top right really should be lower, along with the other choices mentioned in the first point. - There is no sort options - There is no search Altogether this makes the library almost useless. I guess that with the increased focus on "discovery", "shortcasts", and "learning paths" the original use for the app is no longer important. This abandonment of the original utility of the app is reminiscent of the Evernote follies. I won't be renewing.

Free trial?. When downloading the app, I was informed that an app reminder would be sent prior to any charges. Got billed for an annual subscription days later without any prior notice.

Good app. It’s a great project - let’s me listen to books while waiting for son at karate. Each his class means, I can listen to couple books. Four books a week is a great result.

The Cliff notes/ Coles notes of audio books. Since using this app over the past year and a half, I have listened to over 800 books. And cannot recommend it to anyone who listen. Everyone at my company uses it now as well. I implemented a few playlists of books as onboarding/tutorials for new hires. This app is fantastic for commutes, while walking your dog, or to replace your podcast. It’s also a phenomenal price for its value.

Beware. BEWARE - I never accept auto renew; I purchase this after a trial a year ago and opted out of auto renew. So yesterday a get an email saying they have charge my credit card. Unacceptable!! They are crooks!

It’s so worth it!. Access to a wide variety of CONDENSED useful information. It’ll help you to keep evolving, totally worth it 🙂

Yes but... I enjoy this app but too many titles are on personal development...

Completely sucks. Despite engaging the full year subscription at the enrolment phase, and a flurry of welcoming messages from “Emily”, I was unable to login to my “free trial” on either the site or app before being forced to change a password I had just created! Then I started getting pop-ups telling me my payment had been cancelled. After the 4th attempt including deleting and reinstalling the app I gave up. Great idea but execution sucks. And now I have manually CANCELLED payment for the renewable one year subscription. The thing is I’m one of those people who won’t be back. So, “Emily” you might want to rethink this years vacation! Who needs this kind of hassle? Back to Kindle for the “full story”.

No Carplay control. I have this app for the purpose of listening to audio books on my daily car commute. It doesn’t have any CarPlay controls. Using Siri to RWD or FFW results in app lock up and app often locks up as well as continuously loses my place where I left off reading. I like the idea but not the execution

Love This!. Blinkist is amazing! I want to read more, and Blinkist makes that easy! For the price of a few books, you get a years worth of access to everything in Blinkist!

Refund - Unauthorized Payment. Hey guys, I did cancel the subscription on time and still got charged $114 which I would like to have back. Unfortunately, the content is not as advertised. These are not audio books, this is just articles of two pages or three pages someone wrote about certain things. Also, the content is repeatedly and not to much to offer. Aside from this, I strongly suggest to work in your UI/UX and content with titles that are understandable. The titles are really vague and takes up to 10 mins to pick something you could like to then realize it only last 12-mins. It’s like having “medium” app but in audio. For these reasons and more, I would like my reimbursement for a purchase I didn’t authorize.

Narration is disappointing. In my experience used to giving a five out of five or 10 to 10 review, unfortunately I find the narration consistently annoying to listen to which feels distracting, even frustrating. Narration should be so easy that one focuses on what is being said not How. Basically a synopsis of the books in five short paragraphs; it does not equate to reading or listening to a podcast, YouTube videos by author.. Cost is expensive at 100+ a year, interesting marketing tool tho. I did miss requesting my money back before the end of the 7 day trial & was willing to pay for up to a month used, however they would not refund the annual fee -buyer beware!

I didn’t know mean to extend the trial. I wanted to try out the trial, and didn’t mean to extend it. They’ve charged me for a whole year. Not able to get a refund

Valuable Insights. Be a life long learner in a blink! This app gives you access to summaries of the latest non-fiction books & podcasts. They can be read or listened to while on the move, in 15 mins or less. I listen while, exercising, driving, and doing the dishes. This app will ignite your curiosity and has boundless ideas and valuable insights to share. Highly recommend!

Ode of love to Blinkist. Concise , sharp, informative, quick overview of facts and history, inspiring, poetical, superb, technical, scientific, amusing, what an endless list ,,, all my best wishes to the wonderful team behind this project!

Crap service from refund Dept. I just want to post again what I posted over a year ago. I saw an ad for Blinklist and had 30 days to cancel for full refund. Didn’t but at first. Someone told me they bought Blinklist because of what it is supplying be able to do so I decided to buy too. Found another ad and bought but didn’t like it and asked for a refund on day 8. Apparently the ad I saw and bought from had a 7 day refund even though after looking further I found the 30 day refund was still out there. Apple said my issues for a refund are with Blinklist. Blinklist said I went 8 days so too bad no refund. BLINKLIST HAS A CRAPPY PRODUCT AND THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. DONT BUY IT

Waste of time.. I listened to the blink for the book Sapiens, which I have already read. The depth of information given is not useful. The theme and flow of the book is totally absent from the summary given, and as a result blinks sound exactly like a conspiracy theorist rambling on with no coherent pattern of thought. The overarching message of the book is gone. Not worth 100$ per year. Not worth it for free either. The app is 100% functional, it’s just how they’ve implemented this idea of book summaries is honestly a waste of time.

Great app. Grrat short audio book app, great customer service , recommanded for change ur life and mindset, its best investment on yourself

Limited source by anguage. I enjoy the concept, seem book are limited to original language of publication. So far all title where publish in English by English speaker Good book translated from other languages should be consider.

Good app, but different voiceovers. Good book summaries. Some narrators are great, while other narrators are really hard to follow and understand. It’s annoying they couldn’t just use the same narrators for books by by the same author like Newport, Taleb, others

Would be awesome if audio. So when I first signed up, the books that I listen to were an audio. But after having it for a week, I’m discovering that many of the books I want to listen to you do not have an audio version. Really big bummer. Because it’s a great concert. But anybody who doesn’t have time to read books, certainly doesn’t have time to sit and read books. Really need to have all the books available on audio for those of us on the go or there’s really not much value in the service. I recommend not subscribing if you are an ideal listener, it’s very frustrating

Heaven!. I just downloaded Blinkist today and I feel like I have died and gone to heaven! I have several thousand books on my Kindle app which I have never had time to read; many of these books on BLINKLIST I own. Now with Blinklist, I have the time to read everything my heart desires. It saves me a lot of money because instead of impulsively buying every book that I want to read, I can simply read it in 15 minutes! Some books I definitely want to read the full version of; Blinklist gives me that choice and makes me feel like superwoman of reading.

Bait & Switch or Glitch. A friend sent me a link to a book last night by email. When I clicked on the link, Blink offered $99 ($8.34 monthly) for a one year subscription after a free 7-day trial. It was late and I didn’t pull the trigger. I went back to the link this morning and it had $8.34 per month crossed out and $6.67 per month in its place. (Good marketing!) I thought, “what the heck?” And pulled the trigger. After putting in my credit card info, it offered me an option to “to continue in the browser or download the app.” Having just paid, I downloaded the app, at which point it offered me the $99 deal with no reference to the discount through the Apple App Store. Either the company has technology problems or ethical problems. I’m guessing the former, since angering new customers is never a good policy.

My favorite 15 minutes a day.... Blinkist has become my weekly go-to for over 2 years. Four to five times per week I take my fresh morning coffee outside to my personal greenhouse porch, and submerge myself into a meaningful drift defined by my impulse selection of another Blink for the Day! Allowing me to have a daily fresh breath of cerebral air allows me to set up my day by equalizing my mood, and percolating the grey matter into being ready to engage the world. Thank you Blinkist for being that trusted departure that allows me to warm up my mental engine each day. I’m driven to listen to as many blinks as possible, and if I don’t have time to read an actual book, I am complacent to know that I got 15 minutes for myself, before donating my life to the world. Keep up the good work, as I will always appreciate daily to listen to a good blink, and look forward to my next literary adventure. Olé! EMS

Interesting material in a condensed format. They have topics on everything it seems like, you can read into whatever suits your fancy. They take a book and give you the spark notes version, but don’t strip out all the good stuff. It only takes 10 minutes or so to go through each one, which isn’t too long but long enough that the material can sink in a bit. I suggest not jumping from book to book too fast or you’ll forget what you read after awhile.

For the Ages!. I mean the “aged” like me, almost. Really love the selections and quality. Topics well organized, like a great librarian in my phone, or pad, who’s read everything and knows me well. I’ve one complaint though, and it’s the cost. Things are tough on a fixed income, and I and other older folks would dearly love a discount. Recently I’ve had some tough months and had stopped most all my subscriptions. So when Blinkist came due and I’d missed it, the $99 for the year hit hard. If it had been $39 or even $69 I’d have not felt so crushed. Makes me seriously consider whether I should continue or not. A suggestion? Since I’ll turn the Great Seventy this December, how about a “gift” to the old, and somewhat wise, with a lifetime subscription for everyone upon their 69th birthday!? Of course I respect your needs and desire to find your own retirements, so maybe just a steep discount to say…$29? Since it’d be nice to imagine being so young, and rich, and healthy, again.

Sharpen the Saw. One of the first books I read in my late teens into early 20’s (yeah... it took me a few years to finish a book back then) was ‘7 Habits of Highly Successful People’. It was incredibly enlightening and transformative in my thought process. I’ve since read/heard it many times over. It’s been over a decade and a half since the last time I even thought about that book and reading Blinklist’s summary brought on a rush of ideas, memories and accomplishments, new and old, dating back to my late teens that I can directly attribute To Stephen Covey’s book. Blinklist is a great way to revisit old reads and start new one’s.

Great app. Love it!. I have been using Blinkist for the past couple of years and find it very useful. You can quickly get a sense of what’s a book is all about, get the gist of it and the main takeaways, without spending too many hours on it. And if I find a book really interesting I just buy it and dive deeper into its ideas. I use it every day during my commute to and from work and usually listen to two books a day. Really like this app and the summaries it provides me. I’d love to have for some books deeper summaries - especially for classical managerial books - but other than that five stars!! Cheers

Not worth it. My expectation was that I will read well written book summaries. It looks like they are making reduced versions of books by slapping together first pages of each chapter in the book whether they reflect what the author tried to say or not. A very poor quality product. The most of positive reviews seem fake. This app has 3.2 rating on Trustpilot. Users are complaining about unfair card charging practices. I turned off automatic premium subscription on the second day of the trial period. I had to do it in two places since they are charging my Apple account. Three days later the app turned auto renewal back on. If you decide to give this app a try but don’t purchase the subscription, check your account every day and take a screenshot for your bank to dispute the charge later.

Latest update crashes app - but they fixed it ASAP. UPDATE: I’m changing my 2 star to 4 star. I contacted customer support notifying them of my problem and the issue was fixed within 24 hours. They even emailed me apologizing and telling me the issue was on their end. I respect that and appreciate it. ________________________ I really like Blinkist and have used it a lot. But the latest update has caused my app to open and then immediately crash over and over again. I’ve tried uninstalling it and installing it again with the same result. Now I can’t even use the service I have paid for. 👎

Phenomenal ❤️🔥🤗. This app is an enormous blessing. For someone who has a voracious appetite for learning and discovery, there is never enough money for books. Enter Blinkist: an app that enables me to explore 10 times the number of books and ideas and gives me the flexibility to save up for my favorites. This is an invaluable tool I anticipate supercharging my learning and discovery process with moving forward. Wish I had this much sooner and I’m excited to cultivate the skill of effective communication using this product as the launch pad (i.e., the ability to concisely summarize material and encapsulate main ideas for faster implementation). Thank you, Blinkist!

Easy Breezy and a Perfect Preview for the Busy Executive. I love this quick and easy way to review books; it’s not a replacement for reading or listening to the full book but it’s a great way to preview on the go and refine your larger reading list. I hate to read half a book hoping it’s going to get better or reach a subject I want to focus in on - blinkist gives me just enough of a feel for the content and more importantly the tone and perspective of the author for me to make a decision whether I want to wade into the pool fully - It’s better than perusing in the bookstore because I can listen on the way to the office etc.

Great way to checkout a lot of different books to determine what you want to read.. I use Blinkist to quickly review a lot of different books to see what I am really interested in before buying them to read. It is also a great way to get the key points of a book of general interest that I would otherwise not have the time to read or listen to on audible. I am a busy entrepreneur running a company and managing employees, culture, product, sales and clients. I have gained a lot of great leadership, management and communication skills from Blinkist. Incredible efficient use of time to explore a lot of ideas.

Excuses, excuses. Blinklist is a great tool! As more busy tasks crowd our day, it is easy to push aside that book with helpful suggestions and ideas. With Blinklist’s summaries, I can gain the most important highlights of a book in a fraction of the time it takes to read the book. You will still fight the excuses-I’ll get back to it later; I don’t have time right now. But those are just excuses keeping you from taking the short amount of time to gain insights you can use in your business and for personal growth! -Joy Kilgore, President, Executive Business Approach

Desperately need playlist/queue directly. The app has a queue/playlist, but I’m order to access it, it seems you need to be currently playing a blink. I want to be able to load up the queue so I don’t have to interact with it so much, and I want to be able to do that more easily and directly and also more intuitively. For instance, there are 7-day learning paths, but no one click button to add those blinks to your queue. Right now, I have to go into each title and begin playing it to add it to my queue individually per title. This extra work disincentivizes my daily and automatic use. I’d love to add a bunch of titles or learning paths or suggestions all at once and then just open the app daily and keep playing from where I left off. Once my queue was done, I could add a whole slew of new stuff. This would make my use frictionless and easily built in to a daily routine. Right now, it’s effortful to manage the queue, and I know that over time I will use it less and less. Hope this reaches someone.

Worth every penny!. Let’s face it, we are expected to do more with the consistent increase of diminishing time. Simple things like reading a book a week might not be a realistic goal for us. If you want to to grow personally and professionally and still take in what bestselling books are offering us in less time, then this app is for you. Listen to a book on the way to work, or cap off a challenging day with some uplifting insights. Whatever you need, this app will provide it to keep you going forward in life with passion and conviction!

Great service. Needs an archive function. Absolutely love this app. With so many non-fiction books hitting the shelves every week, it’s hard to keep up. This service allows me to glean what I need from a book in about 15 minutes and move on. Or if I really like the ideas and want to learn more, I can just purchase the book later. Blinkist is a great way to sample the material at the very least. With that said, I would like to see the developers add some kind of archive function, so that I can save books that I liked and come back to them later, while keeping them separate from blinks I haven’t read yet.

A must have for anyone with a brain.. There's so much nonsense out there it's great to read something usually more reliable... Something that came from an actual book. For those of us waaaay too busy to read, this app gives us a way to stay abreast of important and useful information. Their free daily picks will be invaluable to the common person, and if you have a defecit in one area, subscribing is an invaluable way to get up to speed on a wide range of topics - and classic books and conversation starters - really quickly. Bravo. Best non-essential app out there.

Developers: RESPOND (ACTUALLY). Okay, enough. The overwhelming feedback is this: STOP CHARGING FREE-TRIAL USERS $100 FOR AN ANNUAL PLAN (the default setting when you opt in. We know exactly why you have the app settings this way - we are not stupid, just a little scatterbrained when it comes to managing the virtual tsunami of personal data management we have accidentally signed up for, thinking “this is really going to help me live my best life “... LOL. And the fact that you have Apple do the dirty work so you can keep responding with “it wasn’t me! I’m not authorized! I really feel ya tho!” PLEASE, Blinklist. This is officially a staring contest. Change the default subscription level for free-trial users NOW. Do the right, ethical, morally responsible (less financially gluttonous) thing and scam forgetful users out of a monthly subscription. That’s all we ask. I’m not blinking.

Bad service. The product is ok, but the support service is disappointing. I subscribed the membership for free trail at first, when it ended, I bought the premium membership from their website at a discount price. But Apple does not know it, and subscribed the membership again, with full price. When I found it and contacted them to fix it. They assumed I activated another account using Apple Store without checking if “The account” exists or not, pushed me to Apple to solve the problem. I understand the payment from Apple Store should be refunded via Apple Store. But the attitude they solved the problem which is obviously a bug in their system, is intolerable. BTW apple gave me refund without giving me any hard time, the service between these two companies are way far away.

Dripping with liberalism. Update: I had decided to try the free daily pick, however each book was full of Leftism. Glorifying drug use, racism propaganda and the last straw was today’s pick. David Hogg, the anti 2nd Amendment media Ho. I’ve deleted the Blinkist app. Previous comment: When I read other reviews about bias I thought that person surely must be exaggerating. However, the liberal/leftist bias is clear, though sometimes subtle. I’ve grown tired of the Leftism that has ruined social Media, schools, Hollywood... I do not know if the bias comes from the summary or if the books are written with a bias. I’d be more than happy to purchase this subscription if there was a library of work from conservative authors and summarized by a conservative. I just don’t trust people who cling to a liberal/leftist ideology. Also, for a number of the books, the summary was way to short. I’d rather have a 30 minute summary than miss too much important info in the book. Lastly, I was quite unhappy when I clicked on Free Trial and I was immediately setup to be charged automatically after one week. I would have been fine if they had first made it clear that I’d be automatically charged and give me a choice whether to continue. I feel it’s a deceptive practice. Grrrr....

Fun App Horrible Software. The Good: Lots of content, great for a commute. The Bad: Terrible/Horrible software. I use with CarPlay and is just awful. Crashes often. If you lose cell signal, sometimes resets itself, but often you have to go on your phone and force quit the app to reset. Can’t skip, or go back to chapters. No way to look at the queue and skip to the next “Blink” you want to hear. No way to just skip a book to go to the next. No way to rate Blinks to have the software suggest books that you like. Speaking of that, I have the software set to following History and Science only, and I get flooded with self-help books! O.k., that’s enough, really hope they will update the software.

Reading at night. Who could resist brief opportunities to learn at night I wake up about three times a night, and sometimes all I want to do is go right to sleep. And sometimes all I want to do is think about something interesting. Blinkist is my answer to the letter I love learning, I love listening, and I’m astonished. how these summaries give me the full picture. The readings are well done. The readers are not the stars. Clearly, the subject matter is the star. I find myself reading and listening to more and more Blinkists.

I love to read. I read 2-3 books a month and always wish I can read faster. I see some readers suggesting skimming thru a book and reading just the highlights of non-fiction so you can read at least 1 book a week. Well, this is it. Of course having the entire book is still the best, but this will help you decide if you want to get the entire physical or audio book after listening or reading from Blinkist. Just try it for 7 days to see if you like it. Try to get books that you’ve read so you can see for yourself.

Always wanted an app like it. I only remember key ideas of books and find the repetitiveness unnecessary. This app is perfect for those who share this type of thinking. What would make it a true 5/5 is the ability to annotate highlights, but admittedly not being able to, at least the moment, has encouraged me to consume more. Plus, if I really want to save and speak on what I highlight, you can send highlights to Evernote manually or automatically. So it’s 4.5, but I’m rating 5 because this app has saved me from the often mediocre articles of Medium.

A lifetime reading goal achieved. I have and always had a busy schedule all my life. With this, it made it almost impossible to read through an entire book right off the shelf for leisure. However, Blinkist has become my ultimate go to. In short periods, I can read up to 2 or 3 blinks and retain the key points and summary that they make so easy. I especially love that there is such a vast collection of blinks to choose from! I am extremely goal oriented and reading more has been one of my lifetime goals. Blinkist truly has helped me accomplish this and for this, I am forever grateful.

Awesome!. I love this- I travel about 90 minutes each direction for work. I have been listening to audio books and podcasts, but this has been the best of both worlds! I love books and love reading them, but I feel overwhelmed by the vast amount and sheer number of books I want to read and the lack of time to do so. This gives me the highlights and important parts without losing the overall big idea of each book. I actually own some of the books in here and prefer the Blinks.

Wow!! Game changer for learning and personal growth. I’ve been guilty of starting 15 books, and finishing one… Sometimes… A voraciously read through content, but often jump to another resource prior to completing my learning… I just listened to a big potential, and feel like I could retain the summary of the information provided, and thus apply it immediately see changes in my life and the lives of those around me today!! Super excited to continue to work through a lot of these books I’ve started, but I’ve never completed!

Excellent for Aspies Especially.. Been using the app, off and on, for years now. Love the ability to listen and read simultaneously which aids with my full comprehension. Getting an overview and light bite of the content let’s me know if it’s a book for a deeper dive by reading in its entirety. Especially good for exploring or researching special interests. Works great with Evernote. Excellent community of contributing writers. Excellent narration. It’s definitely an investment. It would be ideal to be able to pause a subscription with a “pay to pause” feature during the month/s (similar to a gym membership model) when I know I won’t be using the app for a short period of time. Consumer retention would increase and more people would share. If the first complimentary week would allow for use of the app (rather than website only) BLINKIST would undoubtedly lead to more new subscribers and super fans. Once I started with the app it’s been too good to cancel. :)

The perfect solution for those who desire knowledge but don’t have the down time. I am a proponent of nurturing my mind, keeping ideas fresh and forward thinking...this app tailors to that. I can maximize efficiency in doing the things I have to do, meanwhile, giving myself the time to do the things I WANT to do. Running a regional financial advising firm and being the head of household with three little ones, maximizing efficiency becomes a lifestyle. I feel I can enhance growth personally and professionally with this tool. This app is a perfect part of my solution for keeping a balanced, efficient lifestyle.

Info is good, execution is bad.. The amount of books that can be read or listened to is astounding. However the use of the app to listen to them continually is not so good. Basically it has to cache the data for each “blink”, which is fine if you have a constant connection. But not everyone does and it seems that the smallest things can stop the playback. Such as going to outside of the playing of the book you’re listening to as to see other books that are available. Also the use of speeding up the audio has quirks that cause it to sometimes not play at all until 10-15 seconds later, which is a big loss considering the content of the blinks. This needs to be fixed or this app won’t be profitable for long.

Great Idea, but my history goes away... I love the idea of actually burning through books like this. Direct and to the point! In my first sitting, I went through 4 blinks. I want to understand ‘what’ I’ve read and keep them for reference. So I added them to my Favorites. I also wanted to determine which of the blinks I had added to my library I had already read, but that’s not easily determined. Sure, if I open it again, it knows... But how about a ‘read’ indicator in my library? So I started to add a ‘read’ tag to those that I finished. Then, as my library started to grow, I figured I could delete those that I had read already to ‘clean’ things up a bit... and ‘boom’, they’re gone from my favorites, highlights are gone, etc.. Would be great to ‘keep’ my history of a blink, even AFTER removing it from my library. Because I don’t want to look at the first page of my library of hundreds of blinks every time. The general management of blinks needs a little more work.

Horrible Scam. Absolutely horrid. While registering for this app, it crashed and I had to delete it and reinstall it. I was unable to use it despite working with Blinkist customer service as the login/password combo didn’t work and they could not find my account. Then they charged me $106 for a year’s subscription via Apple Pay for a non functional app. Blinkist customer service then refused to refund me the subscription fee. It is horrid. Don’t download this scam of an app and company. I would give it negative stars if that was an option. Also, it can never substitute reading a whole book, no matter what they say. Save yourself the trouble and get audible, you can blow through books by listening to them in your spare time instead.

Cancellation policy is a joke. App is cool, but not worth $16 a month (I’d value it at $3 a month). Figured I’d give it a try because I love to read. Didn’t go back to it enough to justify paying more than Netflix or HBO. The worst part by far is the way they handle cancellations. I was skeptical when they ask for a credit card for the 7-day “free” trial. But you have to dig deep to figure out how to cancel and then it’s all handled through Apple Settings. It’s 2020... If people want out of a subscription, make it easy for them. Or provide enough consumer surplus that they don’t want to do so. You clearly have the product development chops to execute. I feel sorry for all of the dead accounts out there that are getting charged because they think they cancelled. I’d hate to take a look at your MAU/downloads. Be better.

Great way to get preview and learn pointers. I’ve been enjoying Blinkist for many months. Much better alternative than going back to social media apps every time I pick up my phone. One note though: not sure when they made this change but it’s kind of annoying that it defaults to audio version for me every time I come back to the app. I don’t want to “continue listening”, but I have to click that and then stop it and then click on the readable version. Not sure how to turn off the audio side completely (I never download the audio version of the blinks to begin with, so I don’t understand why it does that)

Great summary with only one flaw. Update: still the best app. Way better than any other book summary apps out there. However, there are two major problems I notice: 1. The sync between devices is terrible. A lot of times, my saved books from my ipad don’t show up on my phone 2. The home page can be improved. It sometimes still recommends books that I have already read. But I am keeping the 5 stars simply because it is too good :) ———————————————————————- I think all the summaries are amazing. I am thoroughly impressed how they can condense everything into just an excerpt. I definitely love it. The only flaw is the pricing. Maybe it would be better to have different plans based on the need. For instance, maybe only unlock 5 books everyday at a lower price. I would totally pay for this amazing service but the price is definitely beyond my reach

Okay-ish Compromise App. Short version: You’re better off with normal audiobooks played at 2x speed. This app is a severe compromise, not a substitute, for actually reading the books you can access. Remember that it’s a 15-minute representation of maybe a 7-hour book, and no amount of careful summary will capture all of the important things in 1/30th the time. The reason is that many books – anything by Malcolm Gladwell is a good example – have much of the value in the stories, not just the headings and chapter conclusions. The approach within Blinkist is one that will make a person superficially conversant with the contents and structure of a book, but not the substance of it. This may be fine for casual conversations with no real depth, but this app will fail you as soon as you migrate to the nuance and implications of the ideas within any book. This also is very poor way for students to hack their reading assignments, akin to the grownup version of just reading the back cover. If this is all you can do to learn about some of the big ideas in nonfiction and you haven’t found targeted short form podcasts that that better fit your needs, then go for it.

Read a Book Every Day!. This platform is the best way to amass lots of knowledge in a short period of time! This is the best investment a lifelong learner can invest over the course of a year!

Tiny Habits by BJFogg. Firstly thanks to Blink for the wonderful concept it is. Someone told me an hour ago about trying this for free . I joined and my first book was Tiny Habits by BJ Fogg. Talk about excitement. I stopped in the middle of reading , assembled a peddling contraption I have been meaning to do for days and started on my fitness goal immediately! One minute of peddling and 2 wall push ups. Tiny habits. I Even established my prompts. Thanks for the gift BLINK. And thanks for the great list of books to read. I adore reading but can’t read fast enough - so many great books not enough time! This app is going to be a fabulous support!

New perspective into investing. These articles are giving me a brain-jolt towards my investing. Instead of merely focusing on profit & making money, I can now shift my investing focus onto areas that are aligned with a different set of goals while still being in-step of my original goals relating to just making a profit. I will still continue to pursue my investing as I have the past, but now will include investing in areas that have a primary focus on the environment & sustainable resources. I feel by doing that, I can help myself & help my fellow-mankind. Good luck in your quest for financial freedom. Mark B.

No fact-checking. This app summarizes an author's main points without fact-checking any of their claims. In today's infuriating free summary of book 'Live like it's 9/12,' the app reports the author's thesis that 9/11 united Americans across religion, race, and other identities without criticism, despite the fact that this claim is blatantly false - hate crimes against Muslims, Sikhs, and racial minorities, skyrocketed after 9/11. I wouldn't mind if the app included the author's argument with a disclaimer that it was not accurate, but sharing his ideas without correction is equivalent to spreading misinformation. As for the free features in general, the app only offers one free summary a day (which you don't get to pick) - it would be more appealing to me if you could pick what summary you want to read for free (even if it was only one summary a week.)

Like eating the menu instead of the meal. I listen to a lot of audio books but am often dissapiinted by how many I can listen to because of the time it takes. So I thought I’d give this app a try. While the summaries seemed competent enough the experience was empty. A good audio book even on a factual subject can still be emotionally engaging and draw you in. In contrast, the summaries were more like listening to a dry, lifeless lecture. I say no thanks. I’d rather take the time to enjoy the meal than have someone describe it to me. I’ll resist the te temptation to debate whether rapidly listening to a lot of information produces and real competency on the various subjects other than making for good party talk. HINT: I don’t think it can.

Thieves. Sketchy Business Practice.. I had no idea this was a forced auto renewal situation, and missed charges coming in for the last 2 years. I requested a refund for at least my most recent renewal from just over a month ago. They know I haven’t used the app in over 2 years, but I was just told by customer service that they can’t offer refunds if it’s been over a month since renewal. This is criminal, and now I’ve paid for an app that I have zero interest using (I haven’t even had the app on my phone for over a year). I could understand if there was some actual loss of product (i.e. a steak from a restaurant that didn’t get eaten), but we’re talking about a digital product that has zero inventory loss, meaning zero lost dollars. Shame on you, Blinkest, for your sketchy customer service, especially during a time of global economic challenges.

Great to occupy your time if you are waiting.. I love this app because I have difficulty reading and get impatient trying to comprehend several pages of text because of my learning disability. It is great to be able to read a novel and probably get more out of it than spending hours trying to wade through the book only retaining a little bit of it. It is a great app to use to take your mind of of anxiety provoking situations like flying or waiting for a doctor or dentist appointment. It is much better for you to help get a handle on anxiety than taking benzodiazepines, safer and healthier.

Easiest and fastest way to read books - and I love it!. Blinkist is my easiest and fastest way to find new books summaries from a vast and diverse treasure of knowledge that it (Blinkist) is. Currently I have a free subscription and enjoy listening to one, 15-20 minutes, book summary almost every day. Imagine, reading / listening to around 300 book summaries in a year! And if you get paid subscription, you can choose from hundreds of book summaries available in the Blinkist library. As I mainly listen to the book summaries, I must add that the presentation is of high quality, consistently.

Mostly self-help and personal finance. If you like self help books (i.e 7 habits of highly effective people, Good vibes, good life, personal finance, etc.) then you will get a lot of value and mileage out of Blinkist with its current library selection. Personally, I find most self-help books useless, so my review might not apply to your preferences. While I was pleased to see some philosophy books like Manufacturing Consent, given that I mainly got this app for philosophy/history/science texts, I feel the content is lacking. I understand that philosophy and science texts are substantially more difficult to interpret or “blink” so maybe with time these genres will grow. In its current state I am a little disappointed with the current selection.

Shady business practices. Be advised that what they call a seven day trial period is actually a six day trial. I was planning to cancel on day seven (even had it in my calendar) but was charged on day six. On Wednesday Aug 24 I received an email reminder saying I had two days left in my free trial. How nice they send a reminder I thought! But then the next day, Thursday August 25 I find I was charged!! One day later. They lied and they are doing this purposefully to trick their trial subscribers into paying. I listened to several of their summaries and just found they were too short to be helpful, and quite frankly boring. I had no intention of signing up and now I want my money back. Luckily I send screenshots of everything to PayPal and they were able to get my money back.

What a brilliant app!. Say goodbye to spending $20 on a self-help book only to realize it could have been easily condensed into 15 minutes of audio… Blinkest also provides an ability to preview more in-depth books, then you can buy the book to gain further detail. The idea of readers digest is nothing new but this makes it easy via audio (and text) and they cover a solid amount of books on many topics (fiction and nonfiction). The narration is good and they pull out the main points, then summarize those at the end.

Blinkist in general. I have read 10 books or listen to 10 books through your system ( inside a week )and I think that the material is really grand. I have had opportunity to sample books and get through them to determine if I want to go deeper into the subject matter or just skim across it as general interest. I really do love the concept and having it audio version where I can listen to the stuff in my car is wonderful. I have a short commute to my office every day and even in a six minute ride I can get through the bulk of the material and determine what I choose to do it. Thank you Blinkist.

good stuff. nice for busy people. lot of materials and nice controls. Only tiny stupid thing is they don't count the introduction blink in the narrative but they count it in the user interface so you always get this stupid thing where the reader says "blink number five" but the user interface says you are on blink 6. This would be extremely easy to fix and they should because it is a stupid bug to hang around for so long. No functional issue but for a company about cognitive media it is just irritating to experience the cognitive dissonance.
