Incredible content on a horrible platform. If I were rating this app on the content alone, I would give it 10 stars if I could. This app’s classes and features include EVERYTHING that I am looking for in a yoga software. Than comes the absolutely abysmal platform and customer service. Subscription gives access to the promised features only sporadically, which, when one is trying to use a workout app on a routine basis during a very limited free time is unacceptable. The app does not allow to either create an account (even after following “Create Account” link), or reset purchases, or even exit the pop-up window without shutting down iPad, which indicates poorly executed backend. Contacting Support doesn’t help either as the only response I have received after waiting for a few days was that I might be using an older version of the app (which was not the case) followed by silence. Overall I find it incredibly sad when a developer creates an outstanding application, but fails to follow through on the promises it have made to its customers.

Want my original version back!. I paid for the original version many years ago and was very extremely happy with this app and I have always rated it high. However, now there are more options to choose from but I have to pay a monthly fee which I am not interested in - would want to only see the classes that were included with the original purchase so I don’t see the other options. If you want me to be a beta user for any new classes you are introducing, offer it to me as a free trial and I will provide feedback, but for now I would love to have my clean original version of the Yoga Studio App back. Previous review: It has been years now that I have been using this app and still love it. I have built strength in the process and now am able to follow the Advance collection. I am amazed by how well this App is designed and the transition from one pose to the next is flawless. I would love to see more options under the Advance Collection that are harder but shorter. Please add breathing exercises as well which will take this already awesome app to a whole new level. I thank Yoga Studio for guiding me and helping me become a better Yogi. This app is highly recommended for all individuals at any level in their Yoga Quest.

Grandfathered subscribers lose access with latest update. Edit: version 4.0.4 seems to have fixed my inability to restore my existing purchase. ——————————— I purchased this app prior to version 3.5 (when the subscription model was introduced). Since then I was able to access the app with no problem (I assumed I was grandfathered in to a free subscription since I had already purchased the app). The most recent update has cause me to lose all access to Yoga Studio unless I pay for a subscription. The pricing seems reasonable for the content that I’d be getting, but I will not be subscribing on the basis that I believe it is wrong to try to transition app purchasers into app subscribers. Imagine buying a movie, putting it on the shelf for a year, then when you go to watch it you’re prevented from doing so until you pay for the movie studios subscription program. It’s a dishonest business move and really unfortunate because I really got a lot out of this app and I’ve recommended this app to friends many times. Not anymore.

Don’t love endless requests to buy subscription. I am a long time user, and must say that this app has helped me to practice yoga at home with short lessons. I was really irritated when they went to a subscription model and that they locked me out of the classes that I had bought, but that has since been fixed. I am a pretty simple user and don’t really need all the new content that they have posted, so I have stayed away from subscription and just kept what is working for me. I must say that every time I click on new content that might be interesting, the app takes me directly to offering the subscription model - doesn’t tell me what the class is or what it is about. It just begs me to convert to a subscription. Since I am such a simple user, I might be interested in buying a series - maybe desk yoga, but don’t need 90% of the new content offered. I was going to recommend this app to a friend of mine, but didn’t feel comfortable because I didn’t want her to come back and tell me that she was hounded to buy a subscription. It was much better when you could just buy the app at one price like I did, or if you could buy what you needed and not have to pay for stuff that you won’t use via a subscription. Too bad - it was such a nice app at one point.

Beginner essentials.. I started w Rodney Yee when he first started about 10 yrs ago. Now have been practicing w Instructor in purple tank. Basically yoga studio saved my life. I was in a hit and run. I was the hit. I was thrown 30 ft into a snow bank. I broke both my legs and ankle and sustained a serious head injury. I believe that dueto my many yrs of practice with Transcendental Meditation taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and my dedication to yoga I had the flexibility that allowed me to “relax” into the fall. Rather than stiffening up I floated inside my body. I was in PT for four months and they could not believe how fast I recovered. They had never seen anyone with that much physical control that came from the inner harmony I experienced w my body and mind. I was very disappointed to see the Hip Hop yoga. It is a bastardization of all the principles of yoga. I only do this wonderful instructor in the purple tank and Rodney Yee. They seem to understand the inner relationship of mind and body. The whole nickname thing ruins participation in the reviews.

To the point application. I suppose it all depends on what you’re looking for but if the point is to spend some time working through routines, learning poses, and/or creating your own routines without distraction than this app is perfect for all that. If you’re looking for an overly commercialized, and modernized approach toward yoga try any of the others. They’ll be sure to inundate you with commercials and additional charges without end and dilute it to nothing more than another workout routine unless of course you try Asana Rebel, in which case you’ll spend a lot for a great app that honestly isn’t any better than this one in my opinion. I’m happy with this app. Gaiam, if you’re reading this, don’t mess this up by trying to keep up with the Jones’. It’s not been missed by some of us the potential to tank this app into the commercial abyss that the others quickly sink in when they get greedy. Please stay true to you’re roots and don’t forget what it’s all about!

Best yoga app I have found thus far (and trust me, I’ve tried many). After using the app for about 1 week, I subscribed for the annual subscription. I have now been using the app and its various classes and features for about 2 months. This perfectly supplements my in studio classes. You can customize your classes by selecting from a very good number of poses (not all, but A LOT). Custom classes are seamless. The “pre-loaded” classes are a great selection and the sequences are well put together. They break down the classes by levels (Beginners, Intermediate, etc.) and then those categories are broken down into various classes like Strength, Flexibility, Relaxation OR a combination class! There is even a section you can go to to review the poses and their variations, almost like a study flip card. I find when I am not on the mat, I am reading about new poses and reviewing poses I already practice well. Very well thought out app. There are a few advancements I think they will make in the near future, including adding more and more poses (at least I hope!) but as the app stands it is very well done. I suggest it to everyone I know, even the technologically challenged because it is so easy to use!- Namaste

Amazing. Educational. Motivating. **update: The subscription fee isn't my problem. If you charge for new classes and features, fine. But, it's basically bait and switch on the app I already bought. I should be refunded my purchase or allowed to continue with original functionality. I did not update anything and this automatically has killed the app and is unusable without a subscription. I love this app! Here's what I like: the beginner studio takes you rough a variety of poses and gives you tips as to proper positioning and things to do to enhance the moves as well as what to watch for to avoid injury. I love that the moves graduate to intermediate and then to advanced, though I'm not to that level yet. I love that there is a bank of positions that you can wTch and try individually without doing a whole class. I like that there are classes of different length which encourages me to yoga even when I'm short on time. The music and calming voice is perfect for allowing me to calm my mind nd spirit. I like that there is a calendar that tracks my yoga days and classes performed. I have been doing the beginner classes for about 2 months now and I definitely feel better, more flexible and stronger. The classes download quickly and don't take up much space on my iPad. This app is phenomenal. I have never Been happier with an app purchase than I am with this.

Disappointed. I was really excited to try this app, but deeply disappointed when I did. You can only search classes based on “focus” (strength, flexibility, relaxation, etc.) and “level” (beginner, intermediate, advanced). There’s no search through styles (Hathaway, vinyasa, yin, etc.) This was the really disappointing part for me because I’ve been looking for a good online subscription yoga service that offers prenatal classes due to the lack of them in my rural community. I decided to give it a shot and do the intermediate relaxation course, but didn’t even make it halfway through before I was told to lie on my back for a pose (which is a big no no for prenatal). The other big disappointment that could probably be an easy fix for the app developer is the lack of a chrome cast option. If you expect me to pay for your subscription service, I expect to be able to send the picture to a screen bigger than my tiny phone. Overall, I’m sure this app is great for people who are new to yoga. But for people looking for a more intensive experience, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Great for exercising in privacy and at your own pace.. I love this program, it has literally changed my lifestyle. I can easily practice at home daily and the progression from beginner to intermediate is well designed because the intermediate classes build on the beginner skills and you can always go back to the beginner set. Once I had used the program (that I paid for) and it had all of the data for the number, type and duration of classes I had taken, it unexpectedly and with no prior warning, required me to move to a "subscription" model and it would cost me more to keep using it (in my case $20/year). If I didn't, all of my previous data would be lost. I think the price is very reasonable, it was just a surprise. I don't know if they planned it that way or not but I did feel like I was the victim of the old bait and switch (or, it's free until you're hooked) scam. They should make that more clear up front when you first acquire the program. It would add considerable integrity to what truly is a great product. Scott Parker, using Yoga Studio 5-6 days a week since January 2017.

SNEAKY $100 CHARGE. I just want to alert everybody that this app automatically charges you one year subscription ($100) even though you were NOT given a choice on the subscription detailed page in the app. You can only select it in the App Store page AND you have to do it 24 hours before the ending date of the trial period. I was okay with the basic classes it offered, until it decided to auto charge 100 dollars. on the app itself: offers basic practices (“Essentials”) that fulfills the need for yogis of all levels, and they’re well done but not much more than that. So routine gets a bit boring after a while. Rodney Yee’s videos offer a bit more variation in guidance and movements, but there are only three videos for medium and advanced level. I’ve been practicing yoga since 2016. It feels like the app doesn’t offer enough in targeted exercises or varied exercises.

Not... so disappointed. I’ve used the product for years precisely because it didn’t use subscription as a business model. I was under the impression this company was better than the others who jumped on the greed wagon of subscription but I was wrong. I’ve lost trust for this company and no longer believe their message. For those of us who have had this product, the least they could’ve done is grandfathered us in for a complimentary year. I feel let down and ripped off. Sure they’ll continue to obtain customers but I won’t be one of them. It’s my understanding that even when you subscribe, if it is at the lower tier, you will see ads. If this is true, it confirms the motivation is greed and not a desire to make a great product. Surely, there was a better way. Ugh. UPDATE: Well, I’m eating humble pie. The app listens to its customers. For that, I’m changing my review from 1 (grumpy star) to 4 stars. Going with 4 stars as I haven’t actually tried a session yet but I am cautiously optimistic. The developer explained that they did indeed grandfather-in their previous customers. I am so so happy to have my yoga app back. Thank you.

Love it. I have used and loved Yoga Studio for years. Twice now it has locked me out and wanted me to pay a subscription. While it is worth the money, it just burns me to have to pay for something I’ve used for free (and frankly, there are other free yoga apps out there, although not as good). But both times, eventually YS let original users restore after some time and continue using it for free. The locking me out is the ONLY complaint I have. The app itself is fantastic, a true life-saver. So many different collections and routines, for just about any situation or length of time. Awesome for when you’re traveling and can’t get to your yoga class or for when you’ve had a long day and drop to your living room floor or back yard to release stress. Great for beginners and experienced yoga practitioners. If you aren’t an original member, I urge you to pay the monthly fee to try it out. I think you’ll find it worth it. But thank you to YS for allowing original users to be grandfathered in when you started charging.

Love the classes and flexibility of doing yoga anytime, anywhere. I absolutely love this app! The options are perfect because I can select how I’m feeling and how much time I think I have. If I’m feeling like I should do something, but I’m not energetic, then Beginner Relaxation is just right. If I need to work on a problem area or challenge myself, then I’ll look for something about flexibility or strength. The instructors are clear and I can always see what they are doing. You don’t always get the type of workout you need, enough personal space, a convenient time, AND an engaging instructor when you try to find an in person class. I really like yoga, but didn’t do it much for years because finding a class at a convenient time where I didn’t have to jockey for a spot was really hard with a busy schedule. Now, I can do yoga after the kids go to bed, before everyone else is awake, or for a few minutes at my desk, depending on how I feel. This app is easy to navigate, and I have no suggestions for improvement. All from a respected company and the maker of my first and current yoga mat!

Update destroyed trust in the brand. First, like other reviewers have said, this used to be hands down the best app on my phone. I recommended it to literally anyone who would listen. I paid a flat fee for it up front, and used it on a regular basis. But then at some point they forced an update that locked me out of my account for several weeks. After loads of emails and updates, they finally have the app functioning again, but I have not been able to recover my custom classes. I’m really frustrated with this whole experience because they made a very similar transition on their meditation app but without all the nonsense and without blocking you from using it for any length of time. I understand asking us to pay for content, but you can’t change the terms of your purchase agreement without some kind of advance notice. Based on our original agreement, I owned the app as it previously existed on my phone. The original app experience made me think quite highly of Gaiam - a brand that really wasn’t on my radar before. But after this whole mess, I’m really disappointed and feel like they don’t work with integrity to spring this kind of change on a product that’s already been purchased without requiring opt-in agreement prior to any changes. I won’t be buying any other Gaiam products anytime soon.

Stole from me-- but gave it back. When Yoga Studio first moved to a monthly subscription model, it locked out all its previous buyers who had paid a flat fee expecting to have their purchase for keeps. After having happily used it for years, I was furious when the app automatically updated and locked me out, hence the review below. FWIW, Gaiam seems to listen to its customers: They eventually allowed previous buyers to access their purchase again via the Restore function. I am therefore changing my rating to a cautious 4/5 stars. While I am a fan of this product, to some degree I am still wary that Gaiam may try to pull the rug out from under me at some point. PREVIOUS REVIEW - 1/5 stars I paid $3.99 as a one-time purchase for this app back in January 2015 and have happily used it since. With this newest update, it has moved to a tiered subscription model that forces even existing users who have already paid for the app to select a monthly plan to continue using it. It's like charging a new monthly rental fee to someone who has already paid for a movie years ago from the iTunes store. I would like the developers to either help me downgrade my app to the previous version that I had already paid for - or to refund me my money, thank you.

Disappointed. App seems purposefully designed to make it difficult to figure out subscriptions because there doesn’t actually seem to be anywhere in the app to look at the different subscription models and what you get access to. You have to be prompted for a subscription by the app by trying to access a paid resource. I looked everywhere in settings on the app and the closest thing they have is the Subscription Info section which basically tells you how a subscription works but doesn’t actually provide details or give you an option to select one. The only place you can actually do it is through the Purchases section of your iCloud settings AFTER you’ve already signed up for a trial subscription which conveniently is not explained anywhere on the app. They defaulted me to the yearly subscription so I am grateful I found it before my trial ran out. Wasn’t satisfied with the courses either. I am new to yoga so I started with the beginner courses that did a pretty good job of explaining the starter poses in 10 min sessions but then after a few classes jump immediately into stuff I’m not experienced with in a 30 min session that went way too fast for me to figure out what I was supposed to be doing and added tools to the workout I conveniently couldn’t find out would be used in the next class until after I got my subscription. I’ve cancelled my trial and will be seeking other resources.

Enjoyable classes. Update: After a few weeks they were able to fix the bug and restore my access. I liked the old layout better but I know you can’t please everyone and that they are listening to other feedback, hence the changes. The original classes are worth five stars but after being blocked out of the app by a ‘bug’ for two months in a year, I will reserve the fifth star in the hope to see some improvement in future updates. It would please me to add that fifth star back in after some time of consistency. Original review. The latest update has again brought me to the subscription page and the restore button does not work. I tried to do a workout yesterday and again today but am unable. I am a legacy user and you have assured us not to be weary of future updates. Please fix this bug as soon as you can. Thank you for your time.

Incredible app - Poor Customer Value (Legacy Users). Let me start off by saying that this is the absolute best yoga app on the market! I've used these classes for years, almost religiously, and could not be happier with the smooth interface, plethora of focus-specific classes, and overall simplicity of the app. It is very user-friendly and guides you through each pose, indicating specifically how to mantain proper form. That being said, as many others are, I am extremely disappointed to see that your company does not see the value in their "legacy" or "long term" customers. This is pretty unethical and has truly destroyed this lovable, iconic app. I would've been more susceptible to donating if prompted to keep the app free; it was such a success. I purchased the app in one of the earliest versions and have used it ever since. I would love to see you guys show your appreciation to your original legacy customers by giving us full access to the app without paying for a subscription, or at the very least offer a permanent subscription discount. However I know that I, personally, will not change the company's decisions and reasons for doing so. Just sharing my thoughts. Thank you for an amazing app and I sincerely hope you can once again share your love for your long time customers.

They got greedy😢. I’m a Chiropractor with a private practice in a Yoga Studio. For years I used and LOVED Yoga Studio. I recommended it to all of my patients as well as everyone in the studio as their go-to app to use at home or while traveling. The original cost was very justifiable for the quality of the content you received. Unfortunately for the new version I cannot say the same. Honestly I feel robbed, if they gave the option of having access to the original version, which I paid money for, as well as an option to do the new subscription version then I would still highly recommend this app. But not only did they steal my money, they also stole one of my favorite apps. The volume of content on here now is minimal compared to what they had before. The flow of the app is a lot less efficient. In general the app just lost what made it special (cost, simplicity, efficiency) just because another company saw how great it was and knew it’d be easy to monetize. At the current price points I can not recommend this to my patients or fellow yogis and it breaks my heart because it was really sooo good.

Difficult new layout for original owners of app. So my initial review left me upset due to me loosing access to my content, which I purchased at a fixed cost, once they updated their app with a ton of more premium subscription based content. There was no notification of the changes to the owners of the application and when I submitted a review, like many of the other upset reviewers for this app have stated, they notified me to update the app which still did not resolve my issue. However, I did fix the issue by deleting the app and reinstalling it. My current complaint with the app is not the new content but the cluttered presentation I have to sift through to get to what I purchased years ago. Being an early adopter and buying the original app leaves me feeling like I’ve been dusted in the red carpet to get walk on by customers shelling out monthly subscriptions. To the developers, first of all, I appreciate your communication to the not so happy customers such as myself. It would be great if you could separate the Gaiam content vs you original content in such a way that makes it easier for finding classes and organizing content.

Restore doesn't work.. I paid for this app before the subscription model was implemented. I redownloaded it this morning after a few years and was faced with the "give us more money" rigamarole. I went to the dev website (which is broken and difficult to navigate) and to the FAQ, which says that people who previously purchased the app on iOS can restore functionality by, quote, "Please utilize the restore button located on the subscription screen (top right corner) to gain access to original collections." Friends, there is no subscription screen in the top right corner, either on the developer website OR the app! On the app, under settings (top LEFT), there is a "Subscription Info" tab that contains instructions on how to purchase a subscription, and finally, at the bottom of settings there is a "Restore Purchases" button! Problem solved, right? Except the button is dead. You click on it and literally nothing happens. Like, am I being gaslit right now? This feels like an elaborate runaround to make people think they can't get a refund because they still have access to the original app, while also preventing them from having access to the original app at all!

Used to be My Favorite App. Update: I love this app but am disappointed in the new subscription change. I first got this app a few years ago and paid for it then and have had no problems. However, with this new update (4.0) it requires you to pay a monthly subscription, and while I understand this, it’s frustrating considering I paid for the app when I got it and have been using it for years, so I feel disappointed as a long time user. I have tried to restore it, but it keeps telling me “restore failed”. Yet to decide if it’ll be worth it to pay for a subscription. Original: I did yoga petty regularly a few years ago, but started to do it less and less as I got busier. Having this app is so convenient because there are so many things you can do with it! Whether you want to go through a whole class, just try out some poses, or even meditate, this app has you covered. It's relaxing, pushes me, and is an enjoyable addition to my day. I LOVE this app!

Not the cleanest upgrade. I’ve been using the app everyday for the last three months. It’s one of the better yoga apps for sure. The upgrade from version 3 wasn’t that clean. I had previously purchased the “full content upgrade” early on in version 1 and that would restore all the original yoga programs through version 3. With version 4, that purchase will not restore, so I was forced to sign up for the subscription model to access the app content. I also had all my yoga sessions tracked in the calendar for the last three months, which was nice to refer to to track my consistency. That data did not make it through the upgrade from version 3 to version 4, so now I have an empty calendar view. I’m assuming that data is now lost for good. It would be nice for the developer to honor my original upgrade purchase and unlock the content, but they may be forcing everyone to the subscription model; many developers are doing that now so they have a more sustainable revenue. The new version of the app seems to work well with the exception of a few rough edges in the fit and finish department – some of the images used in parts of the app don’t look optimized for large Retinal displays like the iPad Pro 12 or the iPhone X. Given the issues with the upgrade and restoring pervious purchases, I’m lowering my rating to 3 stars (from 5)

Best yoga app we have tried... but disappointed with the update. Purchased this yoga app years ago (like many others) and have loved using it. My wife and I have done 100s of classes at this point and they are still our go to for relaxing yoga at home. I love how customizable the app has been with respect to classes, poses, and even music. I recently updated the app and was very sad to find that they had moved to a subscription model for all new content. This would not be too bad on its own, as I have wonderfully benefitted from updates over the years with new content, and I've long thought the developers of the app deserve to be paid for their new work. However, I am particularly disappointed that I am unable to download any of the content that I previously had access to, unless I had already placed those classes in my studio. This is particularly frustrating as there are certain types of classes where I had not progressed to intermediate or advanced, and it now seems I will not have the chance to. I hope this can be rectified in future updates, as I have been a huge fan of the app previously and have recommended it to others.

Keeps getting better. I think I began using this app roughly 4-5 (maybe even 6)years ago. There was nothing as awesome as this for free then and even for the new price point, there is still nothing that much compares. I do look out of curiosity but I am astounded that this app still leaves a lot of other yoga apps in the dust especially when it comes to clear rich and straightforward instruction . I've started this review several times and realized, I think I have sent it and haven't. I continue to rely heavily on this app and only one other that is more pricey but is worth it. I had generally liked the direction of things until the hip hop yoga. I am a fan of hip hop but I am not sure this was the best matched instructor or best use of innovation. Despite that, I do look forward to some of the other things that are coming. We are overdue for some pranayama. So thanks! In my humble opinion, I'd hoped to see some expansion of the various essentials, like a 15-minute intermediate essential practice for balance or a deeper dive into the the different kinds of sun salutations. I am a big fan of the earth salutations(noting there are a lot of balancing poses in those practices) and earth meditations. Overall, keep coming with the great offerings. We are all growing. Great Yoga App. Update 6/4/20: I bought the yearly membership and was not able to access my account for a few hours. I still like the app but hopefully they’re able to fix the calendar not registering classes that have been taken. I use this app in sync with my Apple Watch and sometimes I will take a class and the app won’t register the class as taken. Other than that, it’s a good app with lots of fun yoga sequences to explore. ——————————————————— I absolutely love this app! I was using it as an alternative for a yoga membership and it works perfectly for me. It has features such as scheduling, class combinations with different levels and classes to choose from for different categories such as flexibility, strength and combinations which focuses on the entire body. It's very easy to follow as I use the mirroring option for the Apple TV. I saved $80 on my yoga membership by buying a $3.99 app. Well worth the money 👌🏼

Best yoga app. It was devastating to suddenly find out about the subscription system after having used the app for years. I tried the restore button several times but it kept failing. And finally I gave in out of frustration. The subscription is still much cheaper than going to local classes anyways and I love love love the original classes and routines. They are so calming and well structured. Yoga Studio really has been a stellar app for home yoga. But it was disappointing to find out that there isn’t much of new content yet. I understand the need to expand the content and the app but wish it were done more gracefully with significantly better platform or content. Before the update I was satisfied with the same classes over and over because i thought that was what I paid for as a one time purchase package. With the new subscription system, i expect more classes and routines to be updated frequently and continuously. But still, Yoga Studio has been the best home yoga app and I hope this update will help the app to keep the best title.

Not much here. Although there’s more content here than Pocket Yoga, it’s still just about three months of content (at your level of expertise) if you do a session about once a week. And even then, at least 50% of the sessions are just sun salutations. So save your money and just do a million sun salutations on your own. In response to the developer’s response, I was a subscriber for a few months and I have no idea what they’re talking about. As far as I know, I did almost every intermediate class above half an hour and almost all of them featured some version of Sun salutations. I tried the custom class creation thing, and although I love the idea, the technology’s just not there yet. The class is choppy and weird if you do it without transitions, but if you do enable transitions, they’re too long and boring. It’s also very difficult to make changes once you reach a certain number of poses, and the poses don’t contain instructions on how to do them. Maybe it’s possible to make a good custom class, but it would take hours of work.

Consistently good fitness and wellness tool!. I’ve used this app here and there for several years. When I started, it was free! But when I came back to the app after a short break, they had started charging for it. While I wished I could have been grandfathered in, I paid for the app because it’s totally worth it. The instructors and instructions are great. Just enough to get your form right, not too much to feel too out there or hippie dippy. There are tons and tons of options for classes, difficulty levels, focus areas, and amounts of time. The options have increased tremendously over the years. This app is a great way to get in some restorative fitness at home or in your hotel room with whatever time you have. The time always flies by, no matter how long of a class you choose and you always feel refreshed and amazing when you’re done!

Good for building classes. Another update: After the latest app update (to 4.0), the restore button again doesn’t work. I tapped it; it said it wasn’t working and to try again, and then automatically tried to sign me up for a subscription. Seriously? Update: The restore button finally works and I was able to use the app again. I do wish the pose library was a little bigger, but overall this is a good app for designing classes for teaching and for trying new personal practices. Previous review: I used to really like this app; I'm a yoga teacher and I use it to build routines and try them out on myself. Or at least, I used to. Now I suddenly cannot access my saved classes or build new ones without paying. Supposedly you can use the "Restore" button to regain free access, but that does absolutely nothing. I already paid for the app; no way am I paying for a monthly subscription to be able to use said app. What a shame.

Stole it but gave it back only to take it away again..... The new content should be under a new app. The original content should stay with the original app for people who obtained this app years ago and have been using it successfully and happily as it was. Now you’ve taken away any other option other than beginner or 10 minute classes which is so unfair. It was perfect just the way it was and I didn’t need or want anything more or extra. I already subscribe to an online service for yoga and do not need this app for that. This app was great for when you are short on time but don’t want to do the same practice each and every session. Now you have successfully ruined it by updating and “upgrading “ it. Really weak and lame by all involved- extremely unhappy and dissatisfied. I did as was suggested in your response but unfortunately the same still exists as there are no advanced classes at all like there used to be and there are one or two 20 minute classes but there are no 30 minute classes etc. it’s 10 minutes beginner or intermediate relaxation -quick yoga fix – the rest of the good stuff is gone.

Good Yoga, Poor Tech. After researching and trying several apps, I chose Yoga Studio to help me start with the basics and progress at my own pace, my own way. It works well for me. On one device. What Yoga Studio fails at is cross-device syncing from iPhone to iPad. In 2020, this is basic functionality, not an aspirational goal of software development. 10/09: I received a message from the developers, which states "custom classes can be shared" and this is true. I have to manually share a custom class from my iPad to my iPhone. Further, if I make any changes to the class on the iPad or iPhone, I must delete it on the other device and share it again. I believe everything should sync between devices automatically. Upon reflection, I changed my review to 3 stars to 4 stars because Yoga Studio is excellent for its intended purpose. It is well worth the subscription price to me, despite the lack of a proper sync feature.

Years of use. I originally got this app many, many years ago when Starbucks used to give away the cards with codes to get apps for free. I’ve used off and on for many years. Always saying even though I got it free I would have paid much more than they were charging at the time. I recently “ upgraded” to the paid subscription to access more classes and am very happy with it still. I am in my 50s and seem to wake up stiff almost every day. I started doing just one round of sun salutations each morning and it’s been an amazing help! I’ve been going outside each morning and doing sun salutation and then one of the other 10-15 minute classes. Perfect way to start the day and I don’t feel like my shoulders are up near my ears after sitting at a desk all day. Had it for years already and I’m sure I’ll keep using for many more

Yoga Studio is incredible!!!. This is the only app where I can find yoga classes to suit my speed, which is really slow. I have issues with lower back pain and hip pain due to several bulging disks in my spine. Lately the pain has been pretty bad and the only thing that relieves the pain and tightness is the class for lower back pain. I do the morning stretches each morning, then inwalk for 30 minutes, then I do another yoga class in the yoga for back pain group to stretch out after I’ve walked, and I am free from back pain and a lot of stiffness for most of the day. I am looking forward to adding more Beginner Essentials to my routine soon. There are plenty of classes on Yoga Studio for anyone and everyone, the selection is so vast I’ll be doing yoga with this app for the rest of my life! Quite worth the monthly fee which hasn’t increased in years. I love Yoga Studio! It’s the best yoga app and has the best classes I have ever found. Thank you for creating it!!

The best and fare pricing. I never give 5 star to any app since it’s mine. But this is by far the best app for yoga. With fare pricing and great instructions. So many classes that you can pick. Suggestions: would be great to categorize classes for buddy parts like shoulder, neck, upper back, calf and etc as you have it for back pain which is great. Nothing releases my back pain but this in the very first session. Also the voice over gives some instructions that video is not following. It might be optional but better to say so. And last thing is that it would better to give some graphical instructions for doing some actions since it’s not clear from the videos considering beginners. It gets confusing following so many close by instructions. Overall thanks and great job. Keep it fare and don’t raise the price ever like other ridicules apps do. Some apps charge more than classes. A+++++++

Great for people who have busy schedules and can’t make it to classes. I’ve tried a lot of yoga apps I this is the best one I have come across so far. I have the monthly subscription and what you get for the price is honestly a really good deal. There is different levels of classes which I like because I have progressed so far in the app, and there are different lengths of classes so you can choose whichever goes best with your schedule. I also really like that you can copy a class and customize it to your needs of what you prefer. Very user friendly and even though I don’t use the hip hop yoga I thought it was fun when I tried it the first time, lol. If I were to say anything I wish this app would improve on is the time you have to relax or be in corpse pose towards the end of the class: it’s like 15-30 sec (I can’t remember) and I personally like a longer mediation after the class to get mind in the right place. Thank for the app, it’s awesome!

Excellent alternative to live studios. ***UPDATE***. Still 5 stars, especially as new content is coming so fast! I love the full body flows and continue to use the legacy runner stretches. I will say that the video can be glitchy, making the instructor seem like they’re pausing in the flow, which is confusing at times. But once I figured out what was going I listened more than watched and it all worked out. The glitches don’t make me hate it though! This app is a fantastic alternative to in person studios! My mother gifted me this app, and it actually took me a while to try it out as I was using a studio near my home. But I got increasingly tired of the fees and the rigid schedule. So I opened the app. I was so pleasantly surprised! There were a range of classes from beginner to advanced and even a range of times. Sun salutations for when you're really running late, 20, 30 and 60 minute classes. I like that the offer flexibility, strength or a combination as well. I was pleased with the update of "Earth" classes, but haven't seen any new content since then. I would really like some new content as well as more varied poses. The app as it stands now would get you pro at plank and dancer, but leaves a little much to be desired for other poses. I'm still incredibly happy with the app. I'm thrilled Mom found it and gifted it to us. Even if she hadn't, this app is worth paying for.

Thank you!. I have had this app for many years. I purchased it back when it was purchase only with no subscription. I used it off and on then let it fall by the wayside. Until I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After my final reconstructive surgery, I felt driven to not only return to my previous level of health, but to push myself farther and stronger. I returned to Yoga Studio to find it had changed. I was very glad to be able to restore my purchase and retrieve the original free classes. (Like many others, I don’t want a subscription service). I worked my way through the beginner classes and moved on to intermediate. I quickly realized that I needed to add in some weight training to strengthen my core and muscles for the more challenging poses. I am now using yoga and weight training to feel stronger, more balanced and more at peace with myself than ever before. Thank you, Jules, for gently guiding me through the classes. If I had any suggestions, it would be to please add a few more free classes for the “old school” yogis.

Still here!. I discovered and downloaded the free version of Yoga Studio in 2015 and created a regular practice because of it. As a novice it let me go at my own pace and over time I built strength and stability. When the first big upgrade took place, I was happy enough with the app to subscribe. But then as new upgrades occurred, I frequently found myself locked out of the app. I even lost my entire history on the app and all my custom classes in one of the updates. I was advised to register solve the problem. My subscription is paid through the Apple Store—I haven’t registered with Gaiam as it seems as though there are too many steps to take to be given access if one is already a loyal customer. I recently gave the app a 1 star rating out of sheet frustration. Long story short: my access has been restored and I’ve been able to upgrade without losing it again. I haven’t got back the history I lost but since that time the app has remained stable. I still use it regularly, and appreciate the new classes. Thank you.

Infuriating. **UPDATE: 4.0.4 appears to have finally fixed the restore function as I’m now able to access the content. Have no idea what took so long. I’m still quite upset with the developer and have lost faith that it will continue to function since this is the second round of being locked out for weeks at a time. We’ll see what happens, but for now it seems to be working.** **UPDATE: still unable to restore after 4.0.3 update, but the app no longer crashes instantly. Just can’t get past the forced subscription page. It’s like this: you pay cash for a car and a couple years later the dealer disables it and tells you they decided you now have to lease it - in perpetuity.** (Original review): Another legacy user who can no longer open the app - it simply crashes every time. Where else can you purchase something for an agreed upon price only to have it disabled (stolen) by the seller at a later time?! This is the second time this has happened with their “updates.” Whether it’s incompetence or greed or both, this company has managed to infuriate many customers. This used to be a great app (and hopefully will be again), but at this rate I’m forced to look for an alternative and ask for a refund due to commerce fraud.

Great App Needs More Levels. I love this app and all that it offers. I only have two suggestions that would make it better for me to be able to give it 5 stars. One, I feel there is too big of a jump between beginner level classes and intermediate. I do not know about the jump from intermediate to advanced because I am not ready yet but from what it looks like it doesn't look like as big of a jump. There needs to be a more gradual building from one level to the next. Maybe a beginner 2 or advanced beginner before moving on to intermediate. I would like more instruction on how to gradually build to the next harder version of certain poses. The second suggestion I have is to add the option for a different voice instructor. Maybe a male voice and maybe have a visual of a male instructor to go with it. Other than those two suggestions I highly recommend this app for anyone wanting to get started in yoga that cannot go to a class.

Used to love it now I am just angry and cannot recommend.. This used to be one of my favorite apps and some thing I used on a continual basis. They updated it now after I paid for the original which I loved. Rarely do I take the time to write a review but this one was worth it. Now they changed the app and took away the classes I have been using and want me to pay for it again and again in a monthly subscription. They added more functionality which I did not need. Perhaps there should be a more premium subscription service but I would like the original app that I paid for along with the classes that went with it back please. Very displeased. (Old review) Love it, can't think of anything to make it better. I don't write many reviews but this is an app that I continue to go toand I love it sometimes more than some live yoga classes. I love the way you let me customize things and I love the way I can use so many different classes and fit them into the time schedule that I like. The music is good; the voice and cadence is good. This is just really well thought out and put together. Thank you. Namaste.

Paid legacy users now required to pay more.. Review edited: they’ve fixed the functionality to allow previous purchases to be restored. Love this app and will continue to recommend! Original: I paid a one time fee for this app several years ago. Once the app moved to a subscription model, legacy users weren’t grandfathered in and are now being asked to pay about 5x more than the flat fee for just a year of service. The subscription should’ve been forced on new users—not the long time users who helped promote and build up your following. Or perhaps increase your revenues through ads. But this decision was in poor taste and I don’t seem to be the only one who is dissatisfied. Also the restore feature that the developer has claimed in other responses as a fix is NOT working. I keep getting an error that it failed. Moving on to other apps.

Robbery. EDIT: See my review below which I initially gave one star. They responded! I love this app and find it to be the best yoga app I’ve used. I’m so glad thankful they’ve honored previous subscribers’ memberships. I had started using another app which I didn’t like as much. This one is great due to the interface being so simple and logical. You can find classes easily that fit your needs and the moves are varied within each routine. The other one I used had a lot of reputation and the explanations were t clear so I had to pause a lot. I also like the voice abs music options. Thanks!! SUGGESTION: it would be nice to have different duration options for each of the classes. For example, one of my go to options is beginner balance and there is only a 30 minute option. I have to choose other routines if I want 60 minutes. It would be nice to have 15, 30, 60 minutes for each routine. Honestly, I preferred the look of the previous app. Much more intuitive to have the categories all visible on each page and then have trees under each. I already paid $5 for this app and now you’re charging me for a subscription?? Unethical. I love this app but guess what - you lost my business.

Good app, except for sensual whispers. This is a very clean app with easy to navigate and find the right exercises for you. This app has little to no social media elements and I count that as a huge up side. The exercises themselves are well planned and intuitive which is good, because I have to turn off the instructor. Now, I appreciate good instructors in health apps like these. They usually make the exercises feel faster and give helpful tips. I don’t know how good this instructor is because I, personally, am grated by the instructors voice. She speaks in a soft ASMR voice right up on the mic so it feels like she’s behind you whispering into your ear at all times. I’m assuming this is to help relax the user, but it just makes me. So. Uncomfortable. If the narrator spoke in at a clear and normal volume, that would make me feel so much more comfortable than the sensual whispers. I hope that new narrator options are introduced in the future.

Let me tell you why this app is 5 Star worthy. First, I have a personal hatred of subscription apps. When your subscription ends, you have nothing. 😡I’d greatly prefer to pay for it outright, even if it’s a steep price or if I have to pay again for new content. However, I’ve been wanting to get back into yoga and was dead tired of the DVDS I bought way back when. (I also have a personal hatred of yoga classes, so that’s out.) I decided to give Yoga Studio a try. I figured I’d know within 7 days (the free trial) if I liked it. And I do! It actually only took three days to decide I love it. I love that there’s something for my years away from yoga self that makes me feel I can do it again but is challenging, too. The variety is also impressive. In over month of practicing at least three times per week I’ve only repeated classes because I particularly liked them. There is plenty of content to do a new class every day. I also like being able to create my own class “mixes” from other classes. The teachers are clear and calm and the music is not intrusive. I like that it syncs with Apple Health automatically, and I like the calendar that tracks your sessions and allows you to schedule classes for reminders. I really do love Yoga Studio. The only thing I’d change is switch from subscription to purchase.

No mistakes?!?!. This app has some pretty decent classes...but I was doing the Yoga Nidra class, which was classed as a mental health practice, and the guide kept saying over and over again- “no mistakes! If you make a mistake, start over” in reference to breathing exercises. It wasn’t like ‘there are no mistakes, you can’t make a mistake because because there are no mistakes’ it was ‘don’t make mistakes, if you make a mistake you will mess it up’ Who on earth thinks it is a good idea to promote a practice as a mental health practice for anxiety etc, and then make a mantra out of telling people over and over not to mess up the breathing in negative language? Literally, i would be in a rhythm and the guide would say “no mistakes, if you make a mistake start over” and of course my breathing would get disrupted at that moment and I would start to feel stressed about not messing up the breathing. There is an obvious lack of training here on the part of the instructor. All she has to say is ‘if you lose count, don't worry, just start back at the beginning’ and the importance of the counting is conveyed without a reprimand or judgement statement. I think this is a huge oversight and the yoga nidra practice should be re-recorded without the unhelpful negative language.

Too bad they lied. Update: thank you again for your reply. Turns out the 42 sessions were removed from the studio by the next to last update. I did find them with your tip, so thanks for that. Perhaps steps can be taken to ensure future ‘updates’ do not remove existing classes from the original users. Took almost an hour to restore the 42 missing sessions. Have upgraded to 2 stars based on customer support. Update: thank you for your reply. I have NO 60 minute classes remaining in the studio and only one 30 minute class remains. I purchased this app in 9/13 and loved it for years! Then they started having problems with updates screwing up the app, and then went to subscription based services and didn’t grandfather in any of the original purchasers. They said they weren’t going to mess with any of the “old” classes, only that we wouldn’t get any of the new additions or subscription updates. They lied. Now every time they do an update, they remove a couple of the original classes from the studio. Today’s update removed the last of the 30 minute classes, previous updates removed all the 60 minute classes. I’m going to stop doing any updates to this app before I lose all of my originally purchased features.

Love this app but the search function is wonky. *** After reading a lot of people’s troubles re:signing in after update: I had that problem a few times but haven’t had that occur in about a year. I honestly don’t know what I did, but I don’t have to sign in every time it does an update now. I’m not a huge fan of subscription based apps but this is one I break the rules for. It’s not as good as an actual class but I can subscribe for three months and pay slightly more than the same price I’d pay for a class in a studio. There is a good variety of classes for all levels. It doesn’t replace the in studio experience entirely but it gives you a flow to follow and that makes it easier than figuring. One out on your own because sometimes you just want to yoga without having to worry about what pose you should Do next. I noticed that there isn’t a restorative focus search when you are looking for classes. They have relaxation. So when doing a search the Rodney Yee restorative class doesn’t show up which is kind of ironic, since his hip opening beginners sequence does show up.

Perfect for me.. Fantastic app for those who are busy and prefer to workout at home. I love how it provides variety of levels, time and types of classes to suit your schedule. I’ve used it for 2 years now, since pre, during and post pregnancy! With my 8 weeks old son, I’m appreciating this app even more as I get to practice anytime, anywhere. Totally recommend this to others, as I have been!

Paid full price for this app and now they changed to subscription without any notice. I bought this app and paid full price for it because I knew I didn’t had to sign up for a subscription. Last year they decided to change it to a subscription plan, and without any notice they upgraded the app. You expect that at least they will advise old costumers or provide unlock access for those who already spent money. But instead errors pops out saying that I was unable to sign up, obviously they want me to pay for the monthly subscription. Very disappointed with how this was done. Lost another costumer and will not recommend this app to any of my friends. I wish I could give 0 star rating. Karma is a bit*** and I believe their greediness will come back to bit them.

Great app, but needs more intermediate and advanced classes. I have been using this app for over 6 years and have brought a lot of friends on to it with me. Only issue is that you keep adding new beginners classes and don’t reward your longstanding customers with more content. The new Kimmy classes are a good addition, but for every new series you add please think of you long term clients. Sales theory is that it’s cheaper to keep than to acquire ….

Able to practice everyday. I love being able to do a yoga class a day without leaving my home or paying hundreds of dollars a month. The classes are challenging, restorative and deeply relaxing and fulfilling at the end. I'm in my third week and currently my 8th day straight and have already seen a change in my body - physically and my mindset. My strength, flexibility and rotation in my chest, shoulders and hips has already improved. Cannot rate this app enough stars!

Definitely recommend this app!. This is such a great app. Lots of choice in terms of time and focus area (eg strength, flexibility) & ability level. Very good video instructions. I especially recommend it to practice in between yoga classes or for people who have a little foundation and can monitor themselves to some degree. But I’m sure absolute novices would also benefit it just helps to have some human guidance along the way. I use this for a quick session in the morning and it makes such a positive impact! Thank you to the makers :] But I’m wondering what happened to the warrior one’s in the beginners 1 cycle since the update.

Update a rip-off *EDITED*. If you are like me and bought it a while ago, you might be unable to reach new content. DON’T PANIC. Make sure the app is completely up to date. Then go into a combination. When the add pops up asking for a subscription, click ‘restore’ in the top right corner. Then you can once again use all of these wonderful classes. Original message: I paid for this app a few years ago, and love its classes and combinations, but with one of the more recent updates I now have to pay AGAIN for a subscription based service. I only have access to some of the combinations which I had already downloaded, while those that I was saving until my skill level improved are now inaccessible. Quite upsetting.

Been using it for years and still love it. I simply love this app. It’s helped me improve my practice so much and it’s so convenient to use, perfect for a long one hour session or a for a quick yoga fix. The video quality is top end, the voice tracks are really useful (and can be switched off) and even the music options are spot on (can be switched off too). You can download your favourite sequences so you can use the app offline, and you can even design your own sequences. There are options for duration, focus and now even yoga type.

This is a really great app. I’ve been using this app regularly for a number of years now and I reckon it’s great. You can design your own practice, starting from scratch or adapting one of the existing ones. There are a range of instructors and different types of yoga, so you can find a practice that suits what you need for the day. Something here for everyone at any level

Awesome app. I use this every morning to get my yoga fix at home. Also during rainy days. The poses is explained well and the classes developed at good pace for beginners. Highly recommend. I have again come back to this app although it's through higher subscription now. However it is the best yoga app and all poses explained well and posture sequence well planned. I like the ten minute yoga poses too as they fit in well when short on time. I am using this everyday now.

Best yoga app. This is such a great yoga app. I was initially disappointed when I re-loaded this app (that I’d previously paid for) onto my new ipad as everything seemed to be subscription-based. I persevered though as I was so impressed with the app previously, and I’m glad I did. Reading through the other reviews, it seemed as though the developers had listened to feedback from other people in the same situation, and now provided a restore function to re-enable download previously accessible classes.

Yoga Studio. I’ve never done yoga before, I’ve alwaysss done martial arts throughout my entire life! I had a spinal fusion when I was 13 and recently discovered I have heart problems so I’ve had to give up martial arts. I figured I’d give this a go, it’s $2.99 a month as opposed to $6.99 a week from other apps. It’s still cheaper than attending classes and it’s so unbelievably relaxing! I’m feeling good, my body is looking good and I’ve even started to crave water! I feel more in touch with myself over these last couple weeks than what I have in my entire life! I love yoga and I absolutely LOVE this app.!

Fantastic!!. My husband & I do a yoga session 5 times a week & we really love it. It has improved his golf swing & flexibility & I’m getting more flexible & we are feeling more energised each time. Just love the different sessions & how you can keep challenging yourself. We live in the country & I was tired of traveling to classes so this Yoga Studio is a blessing. Thank you so much to the people behind the app.

Best yoga app. For the cost of a yearly subscription I can do a comprehensive yoga class as many times I like, whenever I like for as long as I like which would have cost me hundreds of dollars at my local yoga school. These are excellent classes, clearly explained and shown. It helps if you are already familiar with yoga but I like that you have plenty of classes to choose from so you can go at your own pace. I love that I can do a 20 minute class or grab a 10 minute class in between doing things, or do a relaxation at the end of a busy day. The choices are excellent. I highly recommend this app, it’s worth every penny.

Good value for money. There’s some more expensive apps out there that I feel you get less out of. This app has solid 30 minute sessions or shorter ones if you prefer. There’s also targeted sessions for your back which I like. Different levels too depending on where you’re at. I like the sounds, the voice is relaxing and the flow of the videos are easy to follow.

The perfect yoga app. I've been using Yoga Studio for a number of years and have found they have a good range of classes, from post-run stretches; combination classes; to winding down at night. I was originally annoyed when they changed to a subscription service, since I had already paid for this app, but having looked around at what else was on the market, Yoga Studio is well worth the money. Luckily for me, they soon rectified the app for original purchasers but even if they hadn't, I would have paid for the subscription.

Unethical. It’s wrong to ask existing user base who paid and supported the app when it was less popular to now be unable to use the app unless they subscribe. If you change your revenue model to subscription rather than a one time transaction fee that is fine, however please don’t disregard the fellow community who has paid for the app previously. *edit* I just want to edit this review and say thanks for listening to user feedback and changing it so that previous users who bought the app can now have access to their previous videos. Appreciated.

Wish but no luck. They entice you with a too good to be true annual or monthly subscription deals only to find out they are in US dollars (very fine print at the very bottom of the page) and there are actually 7 other subscriptions deals to confuse you with. So you play safe and subscribe to the cheapest to make sure you’re not being taken for a ride only to get billed twice for the same amount. I bring up the issue up with iTunes and then find I have been unsubscribed by them in the process. Total rip off and customer service were arrogant to deal with.

Robbed, terrible communication. Purchased this app full price however it has been updated as a subscription service. The restore option is greyed out. I've emailed and messaged the app for tech support or money back with no response. I shouldn't have to pay the subscription when I paid full price to purchase the content outright. At no time was I informed that my purchase had an expiry. UPDATE my last issue was finally resolved however it has happened AGAIN at last update. Tech support asked for screen shots which I have provided and restore purchase does not work. Unethical and unprofessional app. Once screen shots were sent there was no further follow up. I’ve been trying to use the app I paid for for three weeks without success. It’s theft!

Love it but also a bit bemused by having to buy it again. Bought this app a few years ago and love it, but was also surprised by having to buy it again via yearly subscription after having already bought it outright. Like other commentators I understand that the environment is changing and maybe they need yearly subscriptions to finance growth ... Perhaps they should consider a reduced fee for ‘rollover’ subscriptions from year to year. Also be good to see more female beginner classes, rather than just Rodney Yu.

One of my essential apps. Love this, from the flexibility to choose level to how much time I’m able to schedule. No excuses not to do something every day. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. It’s helped me physically and emotionally (relaxation classes are wonderful). No regrets in investing the small yearly amount each year. The returns have more than made up for it.

Still the best Vinyasa App. A couple of years ago, I wrote a long review to praise Yoga Studio (see further below for original post). And it continues to be my favourite workout app. They have added a collection for runners, which I use religiously after every run; and a collection called Quick Fix, that has helped me include some stretches even when I oversleep in the mornings. It syncs the workout data with Apple's Health app and -for those brand driven- it is now own by Gaiam. Fantastic. Still the best app ever. Wish they would develop the Apple Watch app though. **original review** I've been looking for Vinyasa classes in my city with no luck. After reading a magazine article I decided to try websites and apps for iPad. I downloaded five of them and Yoga Studio is the best one ever! Pros: * different durations to fit with your busy schedule * different levels to suit your expertise * syncs with your iPad calendar - so you can set a reminder and/ or track your activity! * my classes functionality - if you don't like the Studio classes, you can build your own * you can change the background music to your own playlist! * if the class is going too fast and there is a pose you don't really get, you can review each pose, with easy to follow instructions * if you live in North America, you earn rewards! Cons: I don't live in North America so I don't earn rewards! It's definitely worth the money - I don't regret it! :)

Disappointing change to business model. It’s disappointing that the developers has ostracised the people who supported this app by paying the full price for the app. When they changed the business model and added levels of purchase, sections that were once free were no longer accessible. I understand the need to be sustainable, but you shouldn’t forget those that supported you when you were starting out. There much better yoga apps that are reasonably priced and offer a lot more. These are more in keeping with the values of yoga, which is much more that a cardiovascular workout.

Yoga Studio. I have really enjoyed this app since a friend recommended it to me. I use it after bike riding, skiing and any other exercise where I know my body will protest afterwards, along with everyday yoga practice. It’s great to able to choose based on the time you have and the area for focus. It was a little distressing when it changed to a monthly charge, I was very happy with the response for those not wishing to take up the new fee structure.

Excellent - very comprehensive and you can tailor classes. I love the way you can mix and match poses and it'd be great to be able to design your own blocks. The mix of customisable and set classes are fantastic. I am also astonished at the greed and ignorance displayed by some recent users (who are supposed to be yoga practitioners!). This is a very comprehensive app for its kind. Do you know how much it costs to even set up an app and how many, many hours and more money that it takes to program and maintain it? This is why some developers are moving to subscription - it is just costing them too much. The developers have been very generous. There are other lesser apps than this that cost more.

Great app!. As a beginner to yoga for just on 12 months decided to try this app as I found it hard to attend classes regularly. Love this app and most moves I have learnt I have found very easy to follow. Some are out of my ability but I'll get there with this app. Because it's so good I have found I have no problem doing it at home. I have tried other yoga apps but they don't flow like YS. Disappointed it has now gone to subscription , but what can u do? You do get what you pay for which is a bonus and I like the new meditation section. I do wish this app could be used on a laptop. My daughter loves this app but only has a laptop so can't subscribe.

Just right for me....... I Love Love Love Yoga Studio. Very handy having a programmable yoga teacher in my pocket. Great functionality, runs smoothly...... Since I often live and work in remote communities, there is no access to yoga teachers, this app is great to support my practice! Much gratitude to it’s creators. I would love to see a section added that shares yogic philosophic quotes from masters such as Patanjali, Yogananda, Iyengar, Yogi Bhajan etc., maybe even a feature that you can switch on and off that shares said yogic quotes in a daily notification..... just a thought. Or I could just keep looking at books!

Such a great yoga app —one of the best!. I was one of the lucky ones who got to purchase this app when it was in development. So I don’t have to pay for a month to month or yearly subscription to get really lovely yoga workouts from beginning to advanced levels. It would be a 5 star rate if subscription prices weren’t so high. Would I pay for the subscription if I had to? That’s a good question. No, I believe the subscription price is way too high! But it is an excellent app. Perhaps the developers will consider getting more subscribers at a smaller fee. The other features added since I purchased are very appealing!

Love it!. Just recently started to do some yoga and wanted an easy at home thing. Started with the GAIAM starter kit and wanted more of an option than the cd it came with. I remembered reading about the app while researching prior to my purchase, downloaded it and haven't looked back. Extremely happy with the different lengths of classes and also the options of different types of classes with the chance to move up in difficulties when I'm ready. I only purchased a short subscription but at this rate I will definitely be considering a much longer subscription next. :)

Most Grateful, have been using the app for years and it has helped with my overall well being. Many thanks for a wonderful app. It has helped me in so many ways, especially with my back pain as a nurse & after a severe shoulder injury. I have shared your app with many of my friends, family & chiropractor.

I can’t restore my purchase. Can’t even open on iPad Or iPhone.. With the last major update they made everyone pay for a subscription. The outcry made them restore the original content for previous owners. Now they did it again with 4.0. I can not restore my original content. Or even run the app on my iPad Pro 10.5 or iPhone X. Update: version 4.0.4 fixed it. Had to reinstall apps on iPhone iPad and Apple TV. Working well now. Thank you

My favorite yoga app. This app just gets better with each update. It features a range of classes to suit all levels and now includes meditations, pranayama and specialty classes. Teachers are easy to follow and have pleasant tones of voice. I don’t usually bother to leave reviews but this is the app I most recommend to others. Both to those starting their yoga journey or for seasoned yogis who can’t access a group class in their area.

Sorry too see it succumb to subs. I'm another long-time user who paid for this outright. I get that the only real way for an app developer to make money is to either sell more apps, or move to subscriptions. And once you've largely sold to all potential customers, that really leaves subs as the only alternative. But...the folks behind this app don't rely on this solely for income. Or at least, they didn't. They owned a well-regarded and successful yoga studio in California. Maybe things have changed. Maybe Gaiam pushed 'em out, and it's just a money-hungry corporation pushing the change. I'd like to see the option of retaining the original level of access I bought, OR choosing to subscribe for new content. But locking me out of what I bought seems churlish. I will be looking for a new yoga app.

Best ‘Go-To’ Bedroom Yoga. I’ve been using this app for years. I had never even been to a real yoga class before using it, but I found the directions in these classes were enough for me to learn each position. The range of class levels, styles and time frames are really diverse, from 10-mins to full hour long at beginner through to advanced and has everything from slow grounding meditation to groovy hip hop yoga fusion. Highly recommended, it’s worth every cent🤩

Heart felt thanks. Living in a tiny fishing village on the eastern coast of Australia, the opportunity to attend yoga instruction is limited, especially with Covid-19. I have gained more than fitness. Aged 62 and having an implanted cardiac device and some associated problems, I am happy to report my cardiologist was completely pleased with my fitness level after practising yoga. It is very handy too for travel as one can take the classes wherever you go even where there is no internet (after they’ve been downloaded from the site.) Thank you.

Frustrated. Having discovered this app long before it became trendy or dared to become a subscription based model, I could not say anything bad about it. As a blind user the way it seamlessly integrated with Apple’s voice-over was particularly valuable, not to mention how well done the narration of the classes themselves - allowing the user not to have to watch the screen while practising their poses. Which when considering the true functionality of yoga, is what makes this app stand above the rest. However after recently changing phones, The restore button not working, and several unanswered emails regarding my purchase I have nothing good to say about this app. Not only is the customer service appalling, but the app doesn’t work quite as easily with voice-over as it once did. Don’t update and definitely don’t buy it.

Enjoyed but getting bored with interface. I’ve had this app for some time and am now paying the subscription fee. It needs updating though to appeal more to those of us who enjoy yoga but are not going to use most of the experience yoga routines. Or the ones that are person based. Perhaps if I wasn’t a mum with a full time job also doing other exercise I would feel differently. But then I would probably go to a class! I’m starting to shop around.

Best yoga app - user friendly for beginners or experienced alike!. I’ve tried a number of different yoga apps and this is the OG. My favourite feature is the custom classes with high quality graphics, recommendations for link poses and seamless joining interface. It makes for recreating great face-to-face classes a breeze to change up your practice, particularly if you have exhausted the in-app classes (which I find of varying quality, sorry Gaiam!) I love the in-depth explanation of each pose, with traditional Sanskrit name, and also suggestions on how to progress or advance into certain asanas. Wishlist for this app: 1. additional poses in the yoga pose list 2. adding additional classes for yin & restore styles of yoga 3. adding yoga sequence blocks for meditation to add to custom classes (such as body scan, yoga nidra or alternate nostril breathing).

Restore function working - yay!. I was one of the early purchasers of this app and was really frustrated when it changed to subscription as the restore function didn’t work and simply because there are too many subscription services these days, which end up costing an arm and a leg. But they’ve fixed the restore button which I’m really happy about as I love the original app. The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that, due to the subscription model, I will never get any new content. It is still a great app but I don’t think I would subscribe to get the added content.

Me time. Love this app the variety available is amazing. From relaxation to hip hop yoga, from beginner to expert. Focus on all different parts of body, different stages of your life, and what mood you are in. I occasionally try intermediate but I must say as a 65 year old I’m comfortable in the beginner section also love the instructor’s calming voice. Best value for money yoga app I’ve sampled.

Subscription now? Really?. I purchased this app years ago and like other people have said, loved it so immensely that I ended up recommending it to everyone I knew! It’s easy to follow routines helped me gain flexibility and strength at home. The fact that it is now subscription based, with absolutely no acknowledgement of the previous fee paid for the app or the fact that it ever was non-subscription, is ridiculous to me. And the subscription is not even on the cheap side! Just seems silly and manipulative, especially considering the large popularity it had accrued in its first incarnation. Needless to say I do not recommend this app to friends anymore.

Love it!. One of the best apps I have. I can’t always get to yoga classes & this is a great substitute. It contains a lot of poses I have learnt in class & comes with great instructions & guidance to ensure you are holding the poses correctly & not hurting yourself. I love that you can choose the length of workout you would like depending on time available. There should be no excuses for not practising yoga everyday now that I have YS.

Nice routines, a bit lacking in variety. I purchased this app back in the day when you could buy it outright. It’s been great, and even though I can’t access new content, I really like the basic routines. Having said that, there is a bit too much repetition of the same moves across supposedly different routines. The music is soothing and the voiceover is calming. I always feel relaxed afterwards Would I pay the subscription now? Probably not. I think it is too expensive for a grouping of prerecorded routines, especially when compared with other subscriptions on offer.

Fantastic app. My favourite app. I love the calm speaking voice and clear instructions, also the variety of classes, time lengths and the option to create your own. I've been using this app for a year now 2 x per week or if I can't get to my live classes. The instructor’s poses are perfect! Even though I've been doing yoga for many years, there are some extremely advanced poses here so I still do all of the beginner classes as well. It’s well designed and clean layout too. I love it and am still using it regularly for 3 years now!

Yoga Studio or Big Banks. Dishonest, irresponsible, lack of accountability and transparency. Yoga Studio has gone from being a beacon of what a Yoga app should be to a major disappointment and empty promises. My iPad can't update to Yoga Studio 10 so I, as do many people, have no access to the App and lessons I purchased when the App was a fledging marvel. I am continually being reassured ' we are looking into restoring access and thank you for your patience'. I've been waiting a month and the problem hasn't been rectified! I am concerned Yoga Studio will also increase subscriptions because just like Big Banks they are able to do so without impunity. Very Disappointing.

Love this app. This app givthe flexibility this app gives me. I can tailor my practice to what is happening for me and my body. I can practice at anytime anywhere… the flexibility this app gives me. I can tailor my practice to what is happening for me and my body. I can practice at anytime anywhere… commonly use, mainly beginner but aspiring to improve. While travelling I can practice yoga whether a 15min session or an hour..it's so versatile and fits within everyone's lifestyle. Thank you

I love this app. I was wanting to do yoga but the classes were too expensive for me. I found this app about 3 years ago and loved it straight away. I practised yoga every morning and felt great starting my day. I was asked to pay a subscription and did because I never wanted to stop. I still love it and love all the new classes that have been added. A very cheap alternative to attending classes multiple times throughout the week. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.

Newbie. I am a lazy exerciser and also know very little about yoga. I’ve used the app over the past few months, starting from beginner classes, just 15 minutes or half an hour and I am now on intermediate classes. I haven’t hurt myself once, find the videos super easy to follow and feel incredible after each session. Even when I’m offline I can use downloaded classes. I love this app.

Great for the frequent traveller. I travel constantly and am always in and out of different hotel rooms where a routine is hard to find to keep yourself in shape. This app is the first time I’ve managed to establish a routine and stick to it. I am particularly hopeless at yoga, nevertheless my mornings in my hotel room I now look forward to with a minimum of one of the quick sessions before heading to work. If you’re on the road all the time then give it a try

If you get one yoga app make it this one. I've had this app for maybe two years now and I still use it a few times a week and love it! I'd never done yoga before downloading it, and found the videos and the beginner classes perfect. I love the more advanced classes now too, especially the flexibility ones, they are a great workout! If you will get one yoga app, whether you are new to yoga or more experienced, make it this one. It's a paid app but totally worth it!

Paid for app it does not work. Total rubbish app. STILL NOT WORKING after doing the RESTORE as suggested. I'm still not happy. Paid for app that is useless. Are the developers working on fixing this? NO STAR RATING. Despite having received an email from Apple I still can't restore this app. The subscription section does not come up for me nor does the RESTORE option. I can't even get that far. I can only get app as a guest. How long will that last? As I said previously paid for this app and can't use it. I'm not happy. App still not worth ANY STARS. The 1 star is too much. Paid for this app and now they want more money. Not happy. Now they say you can restore from the subscription HOW!!!!!! Don't bother getting app, very disappointed.

Can’t access new content. I would like to give this a 5 star review but I paid $16.99 CAN to purchase the new content to try for a month such as Rodney Yee. Unfortunately I can’t access the new content even after I paid 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Terrible for old customers. I have had this app for years. Used to have access to all the content. Went to use it and have access to nothing now. Went to “restore” and it no longer works. Terrible for one of the longest standing customers such as myself.

App crashing. Since the last version upgrade; my app keeps crashing and I can’t watch any yoga classes

Meilleure app de Yoga. Après en avoir essayé plusieurs, je reviens toujours à Yoga Studio. Les entraînements sont variés et stimulants.

Back issues. I have been using this app for a few years and it has helped release my back pain. Before I would wake up in the morning I was barely able to move. Now practicing every day the pain is very minimal or gone completely. Together with walking a mile each day, I have been able to do all the activities I need to do each day. This app changed my lifestyle.

Good app. It’s easy to navigate the app and the workouts are good

Paid user lose all the content.. I bought the app years ago and the basic content are no longer accessible without subscription. No way.

Restore purchases vanished. I tried to get the app connected to apple health app, but settings was no where to be found. I tried a fresh install and now my purchases are gone and not recognized by the app. I had this app for 5 years and now it’s gone …AGAIN. I see the “restore purchases” but it does nothing. Boo!

IT staff need to admit the limitations, cannot get all the classes on MacBook Pro with the M1 chip. I have been using Yoga Studio (YS) since 2017 and was really happy receiving it on my iPad until my iPad filled up (YS files along with others were big) then January 2021 I got a MacBook Pro with its M1 chip. To my horror I discovered that YS on the MacBook was missing at least 40 classes. I wrote to customer service and some classes were made available. Then I noticed that the moving banner on YS site was advertising classes with Kimmy. I couldn’t get these so I wrote again with no success. Very recently I noticed Warmup classes for Walkers. I cannot get them either. No amount of writing to customer service seems to work. I suggest that it is from the IT department I need to get an answer. Last week I got a new iPad and guess what? I can get all the classes on that device! Please customer service, admit that not all devices can deliver your classes.

Don’t waste your time!!! This app is SCAM. Customer service does not care about helping you. Don’t waste your monies here!! Was a good app, had good ppl running it years ago, but the good people are gone as they must have sold it. This is the lowest of yoga apps. Move on. It’s a joke. No support from gaiam. Will be making a full report to Apple to boycott this app. updates changes your access, app crashes when you click settings. What more can go wrong.

Old customer CANT restore purchase. I also can confirm, if you bought this app before the changes, you can’t restore it! They say click restore on pop up page, it does nothing! Don’t support crooks!

A really great yoga app!. This yoga app has encouraged me to practice yoga daily. The voice over is really pleasant to listen to and easy to follow, please don’t change it! I enjoy the daily classes and being able to see what I’ve done on the built in calendar as well.

Happy once again. November 2022 I’m still using the original classes prior to 2017 and still loving it. January 8th 2018 I cannot stop loving this app, I've had it for many many years and always encourage others to buy it. I will forever use it as it is a vital part of my daily life. XOXO August 24/17 Message to GIAM: We old original users are the ones that made this app popular! We shared it with our friends and families and they bought and downloaded it. I'll give you 4 stars because I haven't forgiven you for trying to make me subscribe to something I bought years ago. With that said I fell in love with this app many years ago and continue to use it daily. I'm a grandfathered user and once I chose the restore option in the app, it brought me back to the interface and classes I had previously download before they offered subscriptions. I'm still happy with the app but extremely unhappy with how many of us old users were tossed aside. June 21/2017 Unethical! I paid for this app originally and now with this new update I can't access my classes because they want me to pay again to subscribe. For all of us that paid our access should be grandfathered into this new update. You went from 5 stars to 1.

Paid for it and it stopped working. I bought this app a long time back and suddenly it stopped working and is asking me to pay again. Restore purchases link does nothing.

Don’t waste your time. Used to be a great app but now everything is subscription and no option to do the basic workouts. Head to YouTube instead.

Was great but not anymore. Long time customer, the app used to be great. Now I cannot access without a subscription this is terrible. I read a response by developer that says you can press restore to go back to use the app without subscription but when I tried it says restore failed. Why ruin a great app very disappointed

Great when it works. Lately the app has been acting up more and more. Try to install, delete it, reinstall and it just keeps closing out on Apple TV 4K. Can this be addressed please! Needs an update on the Apple TVOS.

Yoga review. I have been using this app for about two years now. I really love it. Despite regular use I find there is enough variety in the classes to keep me interested. My favourite classes are with the woman in the blue outfit; her voice is very calming and her pace is great. I would like to have names for the instructors. I also really like that I can see the serious of moves in her classes, before I start the class. You can’t do this in any of the newer classes, which means I am less likely to try them. I also like the class specific themes like: yoga for runners or back pain. I hope they develop more like this. They do seem to regularly add to the app. Overall, highly recommend. I would also love to see a yoga for perimenopause or menopause.

Génial pour personnaliser ses flows de yoga. J’utilise cet application version gratuite depuis plusieurs années, et je la trouve géniale notamment pour créer et enregistrer mes propres routines (flow) de yoga et pouvoir y accéder facilement partout! Merci!

Great guidance!. I started as a beginner and the guided sessions and pose examples really helped me to learn and work on perfecting my body positions.

Misleading pricing. I was disappointed to find that it shows as a free app with in app purchases... until I installed it, created a password & account. Then it tells me how much it’s going to cost me :( There are so many poor apps out there that I won’t purchase anything until I’ve tried it commitment free If you’d been upfront with cost & offered a free two week basic access (BEFORE forcing me to choose a plan) so I can see if it’s as good as advertised I might be a client.

Started well, then went downhill. At first I loved yoga studio. It began as a free app, then it became full of commercials. I moved to the paid version. Now they want you pay additional fees for every class within the paid version! What a hoax!

Great yoga app. Love this app, it reminds me when I’ve scheduled time for a session, there is variety to pick from, and it is easy follow the instructor. Their narration and music are soft and relaxing. I love waking up to yoga with this app!

Hips lower back and glutes. So relaxing and helpful.

I'm out. While they have made tokenistic changes to their instructors, this is still a highly culturally appropriated skinny white chick exercise yoga platform. I got tired of the same old. My body is not represented here. Had enough. After several years being a user, I realized that this was damaging to me. I am out. Cancelled my subscription.

Great yoga app!!!. So easy to use even if you have never done yoga before. The videos are great and the voice over allows you to follow the routine even when you can't see the screen or have your eyes shut. They are regularly adding new routines to help keep your workout interesting. I have recommended it to many people. Well worth it!

Most practical yoga app. I’ve used it for a couple of years now, before and after concussion. It’s been fabulous in helping me to healthy life and body. The focus series keeps getting better and better! This helps you with it all and now I’m able to gently restore flexibility and balance. Would love to see classes for aging and menopause changes.

Something for everyone. I love this app. I’ve been using it for years. I love that it has beginner through advance level classes, and focus-specific classes. Not many yoga apps or studios can help a beginner get physically prepared before jumping into downward dogs and chaturanga. Even after I’ve been away from my practice for a while I can adjust and then work my way back to where I want to be at my own pace. It’s all I need. Highly recommend.

Love this app. Do yoga every day with this app. My only request is to update the videos to put in a few different poses.

Does it’s job well. I’ve been using this app for years to practice yoga. It’s great for those time you cannot get to an actual studio. It’s very straight forward and easy to get into a rhythm. You can edit the standard classes and tailor the poses to what suite you. I don’t use the PRO but imagine it to be a continuation of this already solid app. Unfortunately, as a male, I find some of the balance poses difficult for a beginner nd intermediate. I simply fast forward through those or edit them out of my class.

Unethical. I had purchased this app before and now I have to pay to use it! The restore option does not work as indicated in your response to other reviewer. You should have launched another app for your subscription instead. This is unethical! It’s a shame to see this in the yoga business.

Great app for getting into yoga at home. This is the only fitness app I regularly come back to again and again. I like the studio practices where I can pick something appropriate to the time and needs I have at any time of day.

Not impressed. Not a well written app. Most of the features do not work. Editing info is inconclusive… overall unhappy .

Decent free features. I’ve had this app for a few years and never actually used it until September 2021. I have used it daily since and really like it. It has helped with my chronic back pain and I find that I sleep much better as well. The free features are pretty good, allowing you to explore some classes and learn about various poses. The best aspect of this app is that I was able to peruse some classes and then create my own, personalized class using the asanas that I enjoy and work for my body. It is best to have had some experience in practicing yoga with an in-person instructor before using the app, so that you do the poses correctly and don’t injure yourself. For a free yoga app, I highly recommend.

Yoga studio app. My one complaint is the classes do not download easily

Missing poses. Wanted to like this app but it was missing too many basic poses to be of any real use for building my instructor sequences. Even that would have been ok if there was an option to add custom poses, but that’s missing as well. Had to use a different app in the end.

Meh. If i download one more “free” app that tries to get me to buy a membership the moment i open it im going to throw my phone into a vat of acid then set that vat of acid on fire

Meditations don’t work now. Click to use the mediations, they close the app, they don’t work.

Angela. The best out there- for years!

This app is the best. I’ve been using it almost a decade !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Great app. I’ve subscribed for many years and I love this app and how the practices continue to evolve and challenge me. The three levels of practice would be enough for the yearly fee but the addition of new practices is inspiring and challenging and in some cases eye-opening

Yoga and meditation for my every occasion!. I have been using this app for years now and

Why?. I have been using this app, happily, for over 3 years now. Then today, it’s making me pay for a subscription... as per your responses to other reviewers, I tried to ‘restore’ without success... so disappointed

Garbage for old customers. I bought the app a while back. Now I have to pay a monthley subscription to continue accessing what I payed for.

Love it. Great variety of classes and instructors. Also like how they have some shorter and longer classes.

Lots of Options. It’s not too expensive for what you get if you stick with it honestly! I’ve spent way more on classes and this is pretty solid and I felt like I was in a proper class without the atmosphere essentially lol

Love this but sometimes too fast. I love the classes and have really found them helpful for my general fitness, balance and low back arthritis. My only complaint is that sometimes the poses move too fast from head-up to head-down. I have inner ear damage and a history of vertigo so those movements make me very dizzy. I have to slow down or skip those sequences altogether. Could you develop classes for people with vertigo?

Fantastic Daily Yoga Routine. Yoga Studio has become part of my morning routine. Great classes that haven’t become stale over the last 5+ years of use.

Using my account on more than one device. Love love love this app, have been using it for about 8 years and as a yoga teacher I would never recommend another app to my students. Price has gone up but worth it in my eyes. One question tho .. I have it on my phone but would like to use it on my Mac. But can not figure out how to sign into my account ?? Please please help. This is the only issue I have but would Love some help

Yoga studio. A great app!!!

No pressure and lots of options. As a 53 year old who has struggled with back problems most of my adult life, I have often been advised to practice yoga to maintain my back health. However i have had numerous problems finding a class that fits my needs. Either they were too advanced or at the wrong time, etc. Yoga Studio has given me the opportunity to fit in a workout when it’s convenient and then allows me several options to tailor my workout to my needs. Sometimes it’s just a quick 15 minute beginner sequence, other times I utilize the morning stretch for back health, a short core routine or maybe one that focuses on balance. I highly recommend this app for anyone who is looking for a convenient way to fit yoga workouts into a busy life.

Best yoga app available. I’ve been using this app for years and have continued to be pleased with the updates for various versions of iOS and iPadOS. My favorite feature is the option to customize classes, and my only complaint is that a few features are missing. Pose “blocks” are extremely helpful in building custom classes, but I wish there were an option to edit the blocks. Similarly, you can copy an existing class and then make changes to customize it, but there are some shorter classes that I’d like to be able to string together into one longer class and I haven’t figured out how to do that without building one from scratch. It would be great if you could select a sequence of poses from one class and copy them into another class, merging the two together. Nonetheless, still a robust yoga app and I will continue to subscribe.

Poor Treatment to Original App Purchasers. I purchased this app well over a year ago before they began asking for a subscription fee. Although I am still able to use the apps original classes - all of their new updates are restricted from me even though I still have to update it and it says it would update the classes onto my app. I paid for the full version of this app when it was still new yet they are penalizing the people who supported them from the beginning by not allowing the new classes to be added. They now want us to purchase their app for a SECOND time and pay for it monthly on top of the fact we already bought it when it was still new. I restored it, deleted and reinstalled yet still no new classes. Sad they have become greedy like this. Hopefully they realize by treating their original customers that have been using their app for years poorly, they will lose the people who helped spread the word of their app in the first place.

My favorite Yoga App. This is my favorite yoga app. I’m using it since one year on my iPad, very user friendly and intuitive in using it, it also never crushed. I have my favorite classes downloaded, this is especially practical while traveling and unreliable WiFi. The poses are well explained and common mistakes are anticipated to protect your body. The videos are great as well. Two things I would recommend to improve still: - more variety of the same level class, like 3different classes of beginners combination 60 minutes. It’s getting a bit old after doing the same classes all over - a class on how to learn splits or inversions, its seems the existing classes assume in different levels that you just got there, but doesn’t explain how to. I think this App has the real potential for it! Keep up the good work :-)

Update: restore button works now. Update: finally the restore button works, so everything is back to normal and I don’t have to pay anything for the workouts I had previously. I appreciate the company listening to so many customer’s concerns. Loved this app. Just got a new phone, opened up the app and are you kidding me??? Now I have to pay MONTHLY. I don't care about access to anything new I just wanted the old workouts I would do a couple times a week... As someone with anxiety/panic disorder this app WAS super helpful for me as another method of calming myself as well as strengthening myself. I guess I'll have to find something else now. As if Gaiam doesn't make enough off of all of their yoga products already--but whatever. It's completely unprofessional to just make changes like this without any notification to your customers. Give me a break.

Focused on a quiet, thoughtful practice. I’ve had this app for years and only recently bought an Apple Watch which comes with a year of Apple Fitness. I’ve done a number of their yoga workouts and they’re very good. But I always come back to Yoga Studio because I prefer a less “in-your-face” approach. Apple classes have distracting music and instructors trying to amp everyone up. I’m looking for the instructor to explain and remind me of proper form and gently move me through the practice, not yell poses at me as though I’m in Zumba. And it’s terrific that I can choose my own background sounds. I also love that I can choose classes for where I’m at in my practice and can look up alternative poses I can begin to incorporate. Love this app! Keep up the great work.

Yin?. I finally broke down and paid for the subscription, after vowing not to when Gaiam happened and they took away the app I had loved for years. So, I’m less mad and wanted some new classes, especially yin and restorative. I just tried the “yin for stress” - and wow - it makes me think they really don’t know what they’re doing. I’ve been practicing yin for more than 10 years. One does not do arm balances during yin! (Nor warrior poses, nor vinyasas) Yin is a passive practice, with long-held poses. There is one (short) yin pose at the beginning of this class and the rest is more like a modified vinyasa with props - one breath for every pose (including bakasana). I just don’t know, Yoga Studio. You keep letting me down. Maybe you should google and see what yin classes really look like? Cause that’s what I’m gonna do.

Cautious at updates. 7/13 Update: It appears Gaiam has finally released an update that works for users who paid for content prior to their subscription service. Although it took longer than I would have expected, it works none the less. Giving 3 stars until I'm certain future updates do not impose on my access again. Original: A few things I've taken away from Gaiam in regards to their business practices: poor customer relations, unethical business practices & corporate greed. I have a feeling this company has no real aspirations to resolve or do right by their long-term customers who have already paid for their content. There has been no urgency from Gaiam to rectify the situation - they've dragged their feet, all while promising resolutions but not delivering on it. The situation has left a bad taste in my mouth, I will never purchase another product or service from Gaiam & WILL discourage others from doing so.

Awful business practice. Like many others, I paid for this app years ago and absolutely loved it. I then saw all the reviews about it switching to a subscription model and forcing people to pay when they upgraded the app. Because of this, I postponed upgrading as long as possible, so I could keep enjoying the content that I PAID FOR. Unfortunately I just had to upgrade the app because it no longer worked with my version of iOS. I was worried about losing access to the content I paid money for, but I saw the developer responding to reviews saying people who upgraded would regain access to the content they had paid for. That no longer seems to be the case, however, as I was immediately prompted to subscribe when I opened the updated app. This is absolutely ridiculous, I paid for this app and now I can’t use it. I’m extremely disappointed and cannot support this business at all.

I want my yoga classes back.. I turned my phone to airplane mode one day and when I went back to Normal and opened the app again, there was a screen that wouldn't let me access all of my classes or any content at all (content which I PAID $4.99 for only a year ago. I thought that was steep in itself, and I would never pay more than that). The screen wanted me to either log in or create an account, which I had never had to do before, and select a payment option - a monthly payment option. This is insane and unjust. Why should I have to continue to pay each month for using an app I've had for over a year after I PURCHASED IT, period, for $4.99? This is unacceptable. Used to be my favorite yoga app and I recommended it to several people. Obviously never using it again and unless my app and Access to the classes is restored I will do my best to discourage others from ever trying it as well. Extremely disappointed and angry. Don't get this app, and don't update if you have it already.

Great yoga app with some reservations. I was also one of the folks that got this yoga app at the flat fee before it became a subscription. I’m very happy with the class selection and happy that after an initial confusion about what the subscription rollout would mean for legacy members, we were able to keep our original agreed upon purchase. However, I find myself reluctant to update the app because I’m afraid I won’t know how to get back to the original basic version without the subscription. That said, I would love me to try the subscription, but if I decided not to purchase it, I’m not sure how I could get back to my original setting. All in all, I recommend this app (at least the original version).

Basic Classes for Free. I am recently coming back to this app, after going through a year of subscription based, I was pleasantly surprised to find that all the basic yoga classes were still available to me! Yes having the subscription will get you some very cool focus based classes (prenatal, family, guru taught classes) but they don’t blast you not having it all over the app. If you want a class that is on the subscription it simply creates a pop up inform/sell it. Being someone who just needs a solid yoga app to create some good habits... this is it! The guided classes are awesome, well paced and clear in direction. Sometimes yoga classes use only the Sanskrit makes and one gets so lost, here is clear cut and fun!

Better now. I really really appreciate that previous purchasers are allowed to restore the old version. I understand the desire to do something different, but I feel it would have better to create a different app for that. Previous review: re:bait and switch. I paid for the app, and my 12 yo son and I used it daily. And then this is sprung on us with no warning. I can't believe previous purchasers don't even get time to think about what type of subscription they'd like. So much for our relaxing morning yoga session. I'm just glad I went into the app before my son did. This is not helping my neck issues today though. One of the things I liked best about this app was the lack of needing to sub. I'd have paid more to begin with in order to not need to sub. And it's not a horrible sub price; I just wish there were at least limited use for previous purchasers.

Lovely yoga, Mommy’s Savior!. This app has been saving me. I’m a new mother of a little boy and the recovery from pregnancy/child birth/having a new born has been very hard. I carved out some time for myself to do a yoga class every day and I am finally beginning to feel back in my body. It only takes half an hour a day to make a real difference. The mandala series is my favorite. Just the right mix of deep and challenging with soft and flexible. I get up at 6:00 to do it, and I look forward to it every day. I feel balanced, and energized. My mind is clearer. I’m losing weight and getting my body back. I am so deeply grateful for this app that helps so much to support my self care. Highly recommend!

Great yoga app!. I really like the intermediate essentials classes. At first I was worried the instructor’s voice might be a little too high-pitched and distracting but I’ve done about 5 of her classes so far and it does not bother me. Her voice actually sounds soft and relaxing which helps maintain a soothing feeling even in difficult poses. I moved to the mountains of NM from San Diego a year or so ago and it has been difficult to find yoga classes here that are similar to my classes in San Diego. I’ve really missed doing yoga 3-4 times a week, and this app has me back at it. Hooray for that! One suggestion is to allow us to choose our background music. The music that plays is relaxing but I’d love to alternate in some other new age, flamenco, jazz, or classical music to get some variety.

updated review. finally am able to use the app again after being locked out of member status for a couple of days. it would be great if this didnt happen in the future as i do love the app, as an original user from many years back i just have the essentials and still use it all most daily, so its a huge disappointment when i cannot do mu daily yoga routine with yoga studio! the interface has changed a lot from what i am used to which isnt the best and it took me a while to navigate my way around to find my usual classes, but i will live! also wasn’t terribly pleased that i had to redownload all the classes - which doesnt cost extra, but time is money no? despite all this it still is a solid, if not one of the best apps for yoga. I would love to trial the classes for the subscription mode if there is a way.. previous review: as a previous user before the subscription model kicked in i have been using the app for a long time.. that is until about a week ago when the app did an update and it was crashing upon launch and after many deleting and reinstalling attempts it boots up but still wont let me restore my membership... so i can not use the app at all. hoping the developers will fix this issue soon

Love it. Update: all better! They restored my purchase. Whew! This teacher needs her yoga! Now that I'm back to teaching, I just need quiet and relaxation at the end of the day. I love the voice and all the options of yoga classes this app offers. Thank you! What did you do to your app?? Restore it to what it was. I purchased this app well over a year ago. Not happy. Previous review from over a year ago: I started this app as a beginner and now have been adding the next level to my routine. I am amazed how much you get with this app for the price! Yoga has changed my life (started with this app). My hectic schedule as a small business owner had me constantly stressed, unable to sleep, always on edge. Since I started using this app regularly, I've noticed a vast improvement. Thank you thank you!

Love this app, simple peaceful instruction. I’ve been using Yoga Studio for three years. I love the simple videos and the variety of practices, yogis, and themes. This app has me doing yoga almost every day because of its beautiful interface and high quality instruction. I had initially written the below comment as well, but in just two days the developer responded and the new update has fixed both of the issues I noted. I am really delighted by the attentiveness to users and the flexibility of the options. - - - However, the new features such as comments and likes on videos are really distracting. I use yoga in tandem with mindfulness for my mental health, and the comments really intrude on my calm self-care time. Please could you make comments optional? This app is a break from social media, not part of that crazy world! I’m also getting asked to turn on notifications every time I open the app, which makes me feel unrespected by the company. Overall, I am super loyal to the app and have bought Gaiam products too. I just hope that some features could be mindfully adjusted to suit quieter practices. Namaste.

Came back and love it. I've actually had this app for a long time back when it was just called Gaiam. I loved it then and was slightly disgruntled when they changed some things around and it fell to the wayside with me opening it back up once every few months when i remembered i had it. Now I decided to try it again with a fresh mind and I absolutely love it. There are so many classes now that I can try something new and can come back to my favorites whenever. I do yoga now every day, even if it's for a 5 minute period. Yes there is a subscription, but for me, It's worth it. I can workout when I want and support what this app provides.

Great for between studio sessions and travel. Long time practitioner and I find this app to be the right balance of spiritual and physical within confines of an app “made for all”. They do a great job of offering accessible practices up to advanced. Perfect when I’m traveling and need a relaxation session to help me sleep or prepare my mind for a big meeting. I like being able to practice as little as 10 or 15 minutes with the time I might have between meetings and feel like even these short practices are pretty balanced and don’t feel rushed. Great app in my opinion and helps me keep my practice consistent when I don’t have time to get to a studio. Plus knowing what I’m going to get, I can “dial in” what I need at that moment.

Beginner Yoga Classes. I like the combined classes and tried the 15, 30 &and 60min classes. I’d like a way to vary the postures to add some variety. I thought t he challenge was good though I’m a very experienced person in yoga & taught Hatha Yoga classes for almost 50 years. Then I decided I deserved to take classes myself instead of teaching! As I get older, I find I need to be gentler on my body due to arthritis. So far I’ve stuck with the beginner classes though next week, I’ll try Intermediate. I enjoyed being able to go to a weekly class for a year and then coronavirus hit so I’m trying to find ways to have classes at home. Mostly I repeat lessons from my classes, but it’s nice to have someone talk me through the class and to be exposed to some postures I never did when teaching. I don’t think I’ll renew next month as I’m still searching for a way to not repeat the same class each time I do yoga practice.

Best Yoga App for someone that needs variety. I am new to yoga but I like to be challenged. I found other apps to be very limiting by creating all the routines and being either too easy or way to difficult. I also am motivated by music in my workouts and no other app that I used gave me control of that. This app on the other hand, provides routines to choose from. Even more so, it provides a list of the yoga poses to choose from so that you can create your OWN routine. Genious! What’s more is you can also put together your own soundtrack for your routine. That sold me. If I had to make a small recommendation it would be to create more routines and to allow a way to create routines from the block menu (or make it easier to navigate).

Good app. Update: for existing users - the restore button finally works! Good yoga app great for all levels. I find the ready made yoga classes focus more on flexibility and relaxation (even the ones marked "strength") but you can build your own classes for a more strength-focused and intensive workout. Previous review: the restore button does not work. I would also like to echo the comments that pointed out that this app directly violates App Store Guidelines 3.1.2(a). "If you are changing your existing app to a subscription-based business model, you should not take away the primary functionality existing users have already paid for. For example, let customers who have already purchased a “full game unlock” continue to access the full game after you introduce a subscription model for new customers." Existing users who have already purchased the app can no longer use it without paying for a subscription - I find this extremely unfair. We should still have access to the content that we have already paid for rather than having to pay for them again! Will be deleting the app if this is not corrected. Such a shame since this was my favorite yoga app but the way they treat their customers makes me want to look elsewhere.

Favorite fitness app. I love this app and it has the best yoga practices I’ve found. The only reason for four stars rather than five is the expense. I paid a one-time fee for the app several years ago, so I have access to some basic content, but specialized content now requires a high annual fee. I’d really love to access the more specialized practices but I can’t afford the annual subscription. I prefer a one-time fee but I’d even pay a lower subscription, this one is just too high for my budget. It’s really disappointing given that the content is so useful and that I paid for this early on which supported their development. All that said, if you can afford it, I think this app is worth it and I’m grateful even for my limited access.

Love it!. I use this app all the time, and still I wish I used it more! Luckily, you can schedule alerts through the app to remind you to practice. I’ve had it for years and I still find it challenging and fun, there is so many different classes and through the years there have been many temporary featured classes as well. I do wish that I was able to access some of the content that subscribers can, like the inversions and desk series, but for now I am content with the classes offered. For me, yoga is so much about personal growth that I really prefer this to going to a class! I had an issue with the recent update, but customer service was nice and eventually the app restored my purchases.

New User. I only recently got the app (without reading the negative reviews on the subscription mess that apparently occurred recently). Well to all newcomers hear me well- the app is incredible. The subscription fee is well worth it- videos are great and varied, with the option to create custom classes yourself. There are also guided meditations and pranayama classes to take, and you can schedule classes that can remind you to “attend”. It is high quality, and well worth the price- which mind you is 10$ per month, which is far, far lower than any yoga studio or gym membership with the added benefit of being able to take it whenever and whenever you want. Highly recommend, especially those on a tight budget and/or with little time.

(Used to) Love it. I’m incredibly disappointed. Once again the company has decided to push the subscription model—without any warning—and block any access to functionality we previously had. I used to have access to dozens of videos for the flat one-time fee I paid. Now I have access to none of them unless I pay a monthly fee. Please fix the option to restore purchases—this worked the last time you did this to us. Those of us who have been long-time users need to be grandfathered in so we don’t lose the access we previously had. Like so many other users, I am seeking out alternative apps that won’t pull the yoga mat out from under me and leave me with a useless app. Original review 4 years ago: Incredible app. Prior to getting this app, I was not a fan of yoga, but the classes have turned me into a yoga addict. Classes are easy to follow, relaxing, and as challenging as you want to make them. Love the ability to make my own classes. This is my favorite fitness app, and it really keeps me practicing every day. Well worth it!

Good basic content, developer increases price exponentially for long term users. I’ve used this app for several years now. I originally purchased it as a higher priced, one time price app. Then the developer changed it to a subscription app for several times the price I had already paid, but now yearly. Now the price has increased again to more than four times the previous annual subscription. Although content has been added, the original content I paid for is what I use most of the time. I’ve tried some of the new content, but found the explanation or pacing was not as good. Although I like and use the app, I haven’t decided wether I’ll be renewing next time. There are just too many reasonably priced alternatives that make this one look overpriced.

Easy, accessible, and reliable. I appreciate the creators of this app for making an economically accessible path forward to good practices and improving health through yoga. I’ve been using this app for several years now, and while my practice may fluctuate, I know I can always return to the app and to my practice and to my saved classes. I use the app in a very simple fashion, but I see that there are many ways to expand practice, choose from a wide variety of teachers, and be as simple or challenging as you may wish. For me, the most important thing is being able to have an affordable path to a consistently available yoga practice. thank you!

Stole From Me...BUT GAVE MY MONEY BACK!. Update: after several days of not being able to access the content I originally purchased, the app was updated and my access was restored. Original Review: Originally bought this app years ago for a $3.99 fee. Gaiam has since locked me out of the app and is trying to force me to sign up for the subscription model. That’s like paying for a movie and then being charged a monthly rental fee for the movie beginning years later. When I reached out to them regarding restoring the access to the product I originally bought and paid for, this is what they came back with. tl;dr I bought this app standalone me and now Gaiam is trying to steal from me by locking me out and forcing me to sign up for the subscription model. Hello, Yoga Studio 4.3 recently, unfortunately, we have found that some subscribers are still unable to restore their access to the APP. We are working on a resolution to this issue and we will be pushing Yoga Studio 4.4 as soon as possible. We will provide an update once the new version has launched. We apologize that is taking so long to correct this issue. We appreciate your patience and continued support. YSA Support

Great Yoga App! (Just one tweak needed...). Really enjoying this app a lot! The music and voices are very soothing - and movements easy to follow. I find myself not needing to rely on the visuals much - since the verbal directions are so helpful and clear. I also really love that this app is 50% male-led – as most Yoga apps are very woman focused. (Yoga’s for guys too, right? I mean, it’s just awesome stretching, right?!) Also: Rodney Yee is a master. Only wish that my iPhone and iPad exercises would sync with each other (right now the calendars don’t sync). That way - if I do a yoga session on my iPad, it doesn’t register on my Apple Watch as part of my daily exercise goal. Gotta use my iPhone if I want to get credit! Not a big deal at all - but it sure would be nice! (The Fitstar Yoga app does this device syncing well.) Would love to change this review to 5 stars when that device/calendar integration is fixed! 😜

Former Customers Forgotten. Update: The restore button works for me, but the struggle to get the option and the poor service during that time is certainly worth noting. The app is otherwise a solid app and one of my favorites. (Previous) This was once a great app. It was my go-to yoga tool. Now I cannot access what I initially paid for when the app was a single purchase business model. The developer stole my paid content and is holding it hostage for a subscription. Well, then they can keep it. My loyalty to them is gone. I would've happily paid for a premium account or in app purchases, but they've lost me with this tactic. I also reported this to Apple since it goes against their policies. If you change business models, you need to keep the previously purchased content accessible (Developer Rule 3.1.1).

Very disappointed.. I’ve been using this app for years, and suddenly today couldn’t open it without having to subscribe. The restore button wouldn’t work, and in the process of attempting to restore again, a pop up appeared asking for my fingerprint, which I thought was to restore my purchase. Instead, it charged me for a subscription, and I don’t even know which subscription tier it was. Not only am I furious that I was charged for a subscription I don’t want, and that I’m doing so, I’ve now paid for this app twice, but the subscribed content looks awful. I’m not interested in hip-hop yoga. The interface is terrible, and difficult to navigate. The classes used to be sorted by ability and focus, now you scroll through “features,” and a few other categories, forcing you to have to use the search function, instead of being able to browse. All of my custom classes are gone. This is obnoxious, and I want my money back.

All levels welcome!. I have been using the yoga studio app since 2012. This app has guided me through strength, stretches, and relaxation, keeping my body and my mind strong. Any time I have fallen out of my personal yoga practice, yoga studio has been my go-to for getting back and giving back to my body. As a beginner, I recommend skimming through each class that interests you before physically starting it so that you are not constantly having to look at your phone to match the pose (though the instructors are usually detailed). I also recommend reading up on poses you may be struggling with for guidance and detail on executing a pose properly. For those looking for a new way to practice, yoga studio is challenging and calming and eclectic in its collection of classes—and it’s continuing to expand! There is a great pose library for new and used poses and a calendar for tracking your practice. The great thing about this app is that it provides a solid framework for trying new flows on your own. Promise I’m not a bot, just a lady on a budget who just really loves this app! Sending all you dedicated yogis peace and good vibes!

Back to yoga routine thanks to this App. I reduced the rating to 3 stars because after using the App for about 6 months I am disappointed that not more new sessions have come out. Paying regularly I would also expect that new sessions come out regularly. Not only specialty session like Yoga for coming mums (I appreciate the need, but as a man I struggle to profit from it). Just update the regular intermediate and advanced sessions every now and then with new poses, that would be fantastic. My earlier review that still stands: This is a beautiful app. This made it much easier for me to return to a (almost) regular yoga practice even though I don’t find the time to go to the studio as I used to before our child (not that I’m blaming her ...). It also allows me to do yoga on trips, which is important for me as I travel a lot. And I’m too lazy to come up with my own routine ... I haven’t done much shopping around. What I like about this app is that it is an actual persona and even though they pause the video when you hold the pose, you can still see the transitions, while in another app I tested you only see pose after pose. The subscription is very reasonable, especially if you compare it to a studio! Thanks and keep these new sessions coming!

We paid for the app, now it’s a subscription?. The restore function has allowed us to access previously paid for content. Thank you for making the adjustment. It’s really a fantastic yoga app. Previous Review- We purchased the app when it was for sale in the App Store a few years ago. Easily the best yoga app on the market at the time. Now, that payment is essentially voided by a new subscription model, which will bill us at least $20/year? This isn’t Netflix, where a customer initially signed up on a subscription model. We purchased the service when it was for sale at a flat fee, and now the company has eliminated that fee to generate more revenue on a subscription basis. It makes great business sense - for new customers - but existing customers who paid in full should not be forced to transition to a subscription model.

Needs a few more tweaks to be 5 Stars. To begin, this app is a great tool for starting and maintaining a yoga practice. The variety of classes is impressive and the yoga pose library is very helpful. But... 1. Needs better sync across devices. I have installed this app, on my iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV. The Apple TV app seems to know what my most recent class I Completed on my iPad/iPhone was. It also seems to know that I have the annual subscription by granting me access to the extras that come with the subscription. Yet my iPad/iPhone app does not know what I recently did on my AppleTV nor does it record my class in my calendar. This should be resolved so you can easily transition between devices and have your yoga log kept regardless of device. 2.The calendar should allow for manually adding classes done outside the app. For ea ole, the Daily Calm app records meditation completed with the app and allows for users to add meditation they performed without the app in order to keep a record of their meditation practice. 3. The newer classes do not provide a glimpse of what positions will be performed during the class like the older classes do. I find this particularly useful in order to determine what poses I will be doing and if necessary review how to do a pose that may be new to me. Nevertheless, this is a great app and I enjoy using it.

Meditation Sounds Not Working - Not At All. I tried again and again I couldn’t return to my yoga page to select a yoga class. I have scrolled up to view the top of page and just gray space but no return button. Then I scrolled down to view the bottom of the page and no back or return button. Unfortunately, I cannot and will not utilize the meditation musical section. Very unfortunate. Former message. . . . I have had a subscription with this app for a few years and have experienced a glitch here and there but nothing like the new meditation musical section. When I go to the meditation musical section, I cannot return to my yoga page. I have to remove my app and then reinstall to return to my yoga home page. It is really annoying to the point I am looking to remove my subscription and app permanently. This is so unfortunate because the meditation musical selections are nice. Good luck.

Finally!. I’m a long term user and the new update is what I’ve been waiting for! I’m a busy medical student who can’t afford the time or money to go to a yoga studio several times a week. I’ve loved doing quick 30 minute yoga sessions, but this new Yoga Flow is exactly the thing that has been missing on the app for so long! I don’t mind spending $20/yr as long as there’s more and newer content that I’m looking for. Everyone expects things for free these days, but like Netflix, you start paying for stuff and then start getting a lot of really great original content. Plus, $20 is like the cost of one yoga class, nbd. Going forward as a subscriber, I’d love to see so much more yoga flow / “workout” yoga. I really like being able to break a sweat, work on my core, etc. The hip hop music was cheesy at first, but you get used to it pretty quick and it actually seems to be a pretty good fit all things considered. Yet, it would be nice to have the option to select my own music. Maybe I’d like to flow out to some Glass Animals remixes, you know? Thanks for the update! I see you’re working on some chair yoga (my geriatric patients would love this), but please don’t forget about you Advanced users who want to push themselves!!

Unhappy. Restore function is working now, I can only access the classes that I had downloaded before this subscription service was put in place. I wish I had known all this was going to happen and I would’ve saved more of my favorite classes. They would’ve been better off handling this whole situation a lot differently. I don’t look at the app the same anymore, but at least they’ve resolved the issues they can. If you’re willing to pay for a subscription, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the app very much Previous review (1/5): Just like everyone else is saying here, I bought this app YEARS ago and used it quite frequently but now the restore button won’t give me access anymore. I recommended yoga studio to tons of people who also bought it. It doesn’t crash anymore when I open it, but that doesn’t matter because I can’t get to the yoga! Sooo disappointed

The Best App Ever - 💜. I have had this app for many years now and it is probably one of my most favorite yogaStudios in any form. From the music, to the movements, to the sessions: it is all done so well. You genuinely feel like you are in a yoga studio embarking on your daily moments of peace and relaxation as well as your wellness and workouts. I recommend it to all my friends all over the world as the must yoga app to have on your phone especially for those who are on the go like myself. No matter where I am I know I can take out 15, 30, 60 minutes and I feel renewed.I think one of the most important things I noticed there’s any time I feel anxiety I can literally do the 15 minute relaxation session and boom. Calmness. Thank you!!!

Back to being a good yoga app. EDIT AGAIN AGAIN (May 2018): yes after several weeks the content I paid for was restored. I am glad for all the customers. But this should not keep happening. During the break I explored a few other yoga apps and found that I really really love Down Dog. So... sorry guys. Now the app is 3 stars. The content I have here is good, but limited because I am not a full subscriber. I cannot judge the full content. I probably will still use what I have from time to time because they are nice routines. EDIT AGAIN (April 2018): once again after a recent update I am locked out and forced onto the subscription page, and the Restore button is not working. Two updates more which promised to fix the problem, and now it just crashes on startup. Seriously guys did you not learn anything from what you did last year?! I’m really tired of this crap. Guess I’m going to look at Pocket Yoga or Down Dog. I guess you don’t care because you already got my money. EDIT: the functionality is totally restored. THANK YOU. This was handled very badly but at least you have listened to your customers and given us back the content we paid for. All is well as far as I am concerned. 😊 I paid for your app (and I do love it and use it every day--at least I USED to!!!) and now we have to buy subscriptions to keep the prior content?! SHAME... SHAME... SHAME!

Minimal Apple TV functionality. I really like this app, especially the ability to design your own sessions using the pose library. Unfortunately, this and other features can’t be used with the Apple TV version - and that’s the way I want to use it! Trying to do yoga while referring to the tiny phone screen is awkward and difficult. If I try to use screen mirroring there’s intolerable lag and noise. It’s twice removed from regular streaming, because the phone has to stream from Wi-Fi and then the Apple TV has to receive from the phone. I can’t even “settle for” limited features using Apple TV because to use it on Apple TV requires a subscription — so you’re paying $9.99 a month for a drastically pared down version of the app. Gaiam, I’ve been your loyal customer ever since 1996 when I bought my first yoga mat and yoga VHS tape, but I love you less now. Please make this subscription app work fully on Apple TV - or at least make the bare-bones Apple TV version free!

Great classes, shady app updates. I’ve been using these classes for years and they are great. They offer different levels, different class objectives (strength, flexibility, etc) and also classes that vary in length. You can choose a shorter, more intense class or a longer relaxing class which is nice. HOWEVER. I am one of the people who bought the app when it was a single purchase for all classes. They have since changed to a subscription model, and with every update it seems that many of the long term users (myself included) are locked out for a time, with the restore button not functional unless we subscribe to the new version. It is a blatant attempt to get those of us who have been around for awhile under the old system, to fork out more $$$ for the new one. IMHO we should at least be allowed to continue with our old model. I question the ethics, as well as the customer service abilities, of a company that treats its long term customers in such a shabby fashion.

Locked out when I’ve already purchased. UPDATE: 1/5 stars. I had had this app for YEARS. the below update was made 2 years ago, and it was everything I’ve ever needed. Fast forward to now, and everything has been stripped from me. I can not restore any of my purchases and I am livid. I’ve deleted the app due to I refuse to pay for a subscription to something that I bought years ago. Good job guys, I’ll be finding a less money grabbing company to practice with. I had to give up the gym a few years ago, and this app has been my saving grace. I'm not the most consistent with my practice, but I love that this app is always there when I need 15-60 minutes to myself. The video that plays along throughout the flow that shows the pose as well as how to transition is so great, and virtually flawless. I've had this app since it was "All-In Yoga" and I've never regretted my purchase. It's basically like having a private yoga instructor in your pocket or purse at all times. Highly recommend.

Quarantine Exercise. So right now the world is going through the COVID-19 pandemic and I’m the kind of person who needs physical activity to function. I’ve always looked to martial arts or running to satisfy this need but right now I can’t do that. This app was recommended to me by a friend and after about a week of using it I already see a different in my posture, flexibility, and mood. The app does a great job or splitting sessions up by level, focus (flexibility, strength, etc.), and time. I try to shoot for 30 mins each day but you can also do 15 or 60. The classes are easy to follow and you can even make your own routines. I highly suggest this app for anyone trying to get into yoga or increase their flexibility and strength.

Finally received a response — still frustrated. Used to use this app daily. Then the subscription service was added. For a long time I could not access any content even though I had purchased the original app. After months of inability to use the app I deleted it. Now four months after my last review I finally received a response from the developer that bug fixes are in effect and I should be able to access content. At first, upon updating and restoring the app, I thought I was still being prompted to subscribe in order to access content. I see now that all the original content is still accessible; it’s just the new content that requires a subscription to access. I’m glad to be able to use the app again but I am still very frustrated it took so long to resolve the issue. I will only consider Gaiam’s services and products with reservation in the future.

Good App Gone Bad. Updated Review November 2017: I’ve increased my rating from 1 to 3 for now. Customers who had bought the app have since had their purchase restored after MUCH complaint to the developer and to Apple. This is a really good app and I’m glad the developer restored access to prior customers. Review June 2017: Updating app review to warn others. Developer updated app from one time fee to subscription service without notice to customers and locking out customers who've already bought the app. Developers have not apologized and after many complaints over several weeks they have yet to make a satisfactory resolution. This app was great until the most recent update. I paid for use of this app and had been using it for a couple of years. The most recent update changes the app so that you can only use it if you purchase a subscription. Not acceptable.

Restore Purchases now working after update 4.04. ***UPDATE: Version 4.04 fixed the issue with Restore Purchases. I look forward to resuming my nightly practice with this useful app! I purchased the app for a fixed price and previously could restore purchases to use the app after the app switched to a subscription based format. However, following the most recent updates (4.0 and 4.0.1), I can no longer Restore Purchase to access the app. I enjoy this app and used to use it nightly, but will have to do my favorite class from memory until this issue is resolved. This app has a terrific variety of classes for all levels. Please fix this issue so that users who already paid to purchase the app do not also need to pay a subscription.

Very good but audio needs work. So far I like this well enough, though I am used to videos with more tips and instruction and a more lighthearted human touch. Production quality is good, even though it took me a little while to get used to the static images not breathing! The routines are well pitched to ability, though I wish there were information about possible modifications, as on creaky days I’ve had to try to remember previous yoga experience to find modifications when I can’t manage the pose on screen. Finally, I am unable to hear much of Rodney Yee’s instruction over the terribly intrusive soundtrack on his classes. He has a deep, soft voice, and the deep thrumming noise on the soundtrack almost erases him much of the time. If I turn the sound up, it isn’t helpful because the music goes up much more. This should be an easy thing to tweak.
