Kill Switch (Vigilant Bear) Kills All Internet Traffic. Been a long time user. Was excited to see the introduction of Vigilant Bear, but sadly enabling it results in “No Internet Connection” for my devices (phone, desktop, & laptop all). Tunnel Bear claims to be connected, and I have an IP address assigned by my ISP (WiFi and Cellular), so the issue is clearly Tunnel Bear. Turning off Vigilant Bear everything works as intended. You just never know when the connection might drop and leave you exposed. On top of that, on iOS at least, Vigilant Bear doesn’t actually work as a kill switch. Several times I’ve had a page that says I’m not connected to the Internet suddenly load. But then looking at Tunnel Bear it says “connecting” and as soon as it connects again, my device says “No Internet Connection”. So basically Vigilant Bear is totally broken. But if you turn it off the VPN is still easy to use and has good geographic coverage of servers. As a Canadian company I doubt they’re log-free, so “fine” is how I’d describe them at this point.

[update] Love it! Latest update w/iOS 11 stopped auto connect. The company responded to my concern within about 24 hours, very timely, especially over the weekend. They informed me that they were aware of the issue and a fix was already in place, pushed to an update: 2.7.1. I updated and voila! it appears to have been resolved. Thanks for your positive and timely response! Very happy with the performance of the app, as well as the ethics and care from this company so far. I absolutely love TunnelBear. After researching a ton of VPNs and their behaviors and perks, I decided upon TB. No logging. Excellent encryption. Auto connect. No speed loss that I’ve noticed. I only have one gripe with the latest update / move to iOS 11. The VPN never seems to auto connect anymore. Every time either the device loses or sleeps the connection, or switches between cellular and WiFi, TunnelBear disconnects and never attempts to reconnect like it used to. Please fix this. It’s now incredibly frustrating to have to manually go to the app to reconnect to VPN every time this happens. And it happens way more often than I thought or ever noticed. Thanks.

Default settings use a ton of battery. I tried to use this app over the past couple of months but finally had to delete it. The problem is that on the default setting using openVPN it used over 20% of my daily battery capacity, causing my phone to run out of battery before the end of the day. By switching to IKEv2, it could use much less, but performance was a problem, taking far longer to connect. Sometimes it would never connect and I’d be on plain WiFi. And at the same time the app still showed up in my list of apps using the most battery (albeit only at 1%). The last update before I deleted it had a bug that kept switching back to the unusable openVPN. Now I use the free version of a competitor VPN app on iOS, and that app always connects, does so fast, and doesn’t even show up in my list of apps using battery it uses so little. TunnelBear support was great and responsive, but there must be a serious problem with their iOS app development process.

Affordable, fast, and user friendly.. The title pretty much sums it up. I am not a techy nor am I 100% technologically challenged. I live on the internet, but not doing anything that requires Tor or anything that I don’t even pretend to understand the meaning or function of. If you want fast affordable and easy to use protection simply because it is nobody’s business what you are doing on the internet or where you are while you are doing it, then TunnelBear is the VPN for you. I used the free version to begin with, just to check it out. Worked great but kept dropping signal. I signed up for the Grizzly account for a year the beginning of December 2018 and never looked back. Highly recommend. Update December 2019: I renewed my Grizzly subscription through TunnelBear directly instead of Paypal. Hasn't worked correctly since. Causes iphone XR to drop wifi when it is connected, but most of the time it disconnects. I've contacted vustomer support.. we'll see.

Better all the time!. Now with auto-connect (among other great features), Tunnel Bear is indeed a very friendly app whose developers and “bears” really seem to care about their product and their customers. Thank you! Re your 3rd party audit: Very impressive and appreciated! Thank you for undertaking this process and sharing the results. I only wish your service was consistently faster than it is, swinging from very slow to very fast. Usually slowest of three VPNs I've tried. Disappointing and frustrating because I want to use TunnelBear exclusively.

Great app! One thing:. I love using TunnelBear, it works consistently and well across all my devices. I love having a bear with an expansive tunnel network around the world protect what I’m doing online. I would like not to be prompted to remove a network from my trusted networks each time I start using my Bear, or alternatively asked if I’d like to add a network to my trusted list when I stop using my Bear; I would prefer to be able to turn TunnelBear on and off at will, depending on what I’m up to at a given time. Does this dialogue prompt have to do with the way Apple sets up a VPN profile, or could the prompt be toggled through the in-app settings depending on their preferences? — A grateful Bear owner

Horrible. Paid this for over 2 years, nothing but problems .. rarely connects, otherwise just spins and spins.. their technical support is virtually non existent, you have to email and wait for over 48 hours like a moron. Their help instructions don’t solve the problem either.. they tell you, the same old stupid solutions, reinstall the app, reinstall the vpn configuration, make sure no other vpn is running, and in the end, guess what, it just spins and spins and spins.. randomly one day, it’ll work, and I’ve had the same results on multiple networks and devices.. wanted this to be decent and gave two years of my money for crap.

Unsubscribing after McAfee acquisition. TunnelBear was great, but I do not trust McAfee to not run it into the ground, and more importantly now that they have a US parent company they will certainly be required to hand over all of your browsing history to the US government without a warrant and without informing the user. I will be unsubscribing, uninstalling, and with any luck getting a pro-rated refund. Edit: I understand that Tunnelbear as a company would like to continue operating independently, and maybe you will. That does not change the fact that you are now subject to US law as your parent company is based in the US, and no matter how much you don't want to surrender browsing data at some point you'll either do it willingly or the Feds will just come take it. I have reached out to support regarding a partial refund but I have not received a response yet. I guess after Tunnelbear gets your money they no longer care, which doesn't inspire much hope regarding your future.

Review. Please keep in mind my review for tunnel bear is a customer who is used it for years. I never rate this high but honestly I feel tunnel bear deserves this high rating, any problem I’ve ever heard with their services has always been resolved. They have the best customer service I’ve ever experience for software product. You can use their services for free however keep in mind the data is limited. It’s not one of these apps where the free service is terrible, it’s actually not bad and their vpn has never doubted me. I hope tunnel bear continues down this path, from what I’m witnessing they are only getting better and better day by day. I strongly believe they deserve far more recognition than they get

Working now!. Unfortunately bought a yearly subscription as I had read great reviews. It works on my iPhone that has AT& T, but I don’t get it for my iPhone. I got it for my iPad that is WiFi only so I could use my iPad on public WiFi such as hotels, coffee shops etc. The app either goes wild (on my home WiFi) and the switch starts going on and off every 1/2 seconds or when on a public WiFi, I just can’t do anything on my iPad: can’t check e-mails, can’t get onto ANY websites using Safari etc. I turn it off and immediately I can surf the net. I contacted support and their solution could not even be done on the iPad. Do not bother getting this if u have an iPad or PLEASE only get free one and do a long trial first! Updated review: The technical staff worked with me non-stop till it worked. Moreover, the update so far works well with iOS13. So far TB has worked on public WiFi and at home. Hopefully it will work next time I go to s hotel.

No customer service. I accidentally bought a year long subscription to TunnelBear instead of buying the monthly subscription as I did not realize the portrayed monthly price was for a one time year payment. I immediately contacted customer support through their email after finding out they have no phone customer service and asked to be switched to the monthly plan and a refund for the year subscription. After a week of receiving no reply at all from tunnel bear even though on the site in says up to a week of wait time, I contacted them again. After contacting tunnel bear at least 10 times I have gotten no reply from customer service. I’m very unhappy with the service and as I am a student the price for a year subscription was a big loss for me. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

Very simple working VPN. TunnelBear has to be the first VPN I downloaded on my phone that actually works. It stays connected, and unlike the other ones I tried it has a option to connect the VPN on demand instead of having to reconnect it yourself when it disconnects. It never disconnects, and when it does it turns its self back on, it has fast service, and doesn’t take awhile to connect unlike some others I tried, actually has more than a few options to choose from when you want to connect than just 3-4. I currently have been using it for only a few days, but I am loving it so far, and I am going to continue to use it.

great VPN. this is my 2nd year/2nd device using TunnelBear VPN & i really do like it. it has an awesome macOS app for my MacBook as well, so that’s great. i pay for the Yearly Unlimited (2nd year now) & i do love it. the only complaints i have is that i can’t use the VPN switch inside the Settings app, i have to open the TunnelBear app. there isn’t even a widget for the Today View to easily turn it on. also, it doesn’t offer any type of ad blocker at all. it has BlockBear as a little brother, but that’s more of a content blocker that works only within Safari. i would give it 5 stars & recommend it 100% , *IF they added an Ad Blocker (iOS-wide/all apps, not just in Safari) feature within TunnelBear like other VPN’s have. we pretty much have to chose whether we want privacy or want to block ads. why can’t we just have both? TunnelBear doesn’t seem to work simultaneously with other adblocker VPN’s like AdBlock by FutureMind for example. only one at a time. please consider adding this, so we don’t have to choose anymore. that aside, i really would recommend it. it’s pretty great otherwise. 4stars for now!

Doesn’t work, slows or stops Internet. Sadly this just doesn’t work well, it might for a minute or until you leave the app but after that in the background it doesn’t work. I want a refund honestly because it’s $60 which is ridiculous but Apple won’t refund it even though it’s a year subscription to a completely broken service. Slows Internet down or stops it completely and I’ve tried it now with 3 different routers, also I have excellent internet speed without it and I always have. Tested it across multiple devices too, same thing. The other very annoying feature in the app is not allowing you to just turn off the VPN, it forces you to put the network into your “trusted” section and then to re-enable the VPN you have to remove it from the trusted status. Ridiculous, just let me switch it on and off so I can try to fix this app which barely functions as it is.

Works better than any I have tried. I have used a bunch of vpn servers. TunnelBear has worked better for me. I am usually out of the country and most of the others really don’t totally disguise that I am out of the country. Problem is that a lot of sites will not allow connections from outside the USA. I have not had the problem with TunnelBear. I have used Norton Vpn and the sites often realize I am on a vpn and block me. It also happens when you try to log into local tv channels you pay for in the states, no problem with TunnelBear.

Good if you only use a VPN very intermittently.. I mean if this is your training VPN. I spent two years on this app getting kicked off of Netflix and every other site I tried to use with a VPN running. I tried a completely different service and it immediately worked with iPhone on every site I used except for anonymous large secure data transfers. I ended up buying a year with a different service after one afternoon. This app doesn’t work with a myriad of sites. It works. When it works. Which was incredibly frustrating to find out after two years of paying for it. I rarely felt like I was getting anything of value from this premium service.

A Must Have VPN!. I never leave reviews but I love this app. It’s the only genuine FREE VPN that works. A friend of mine told me about it and I figured I would check it out. I was fully expecting it to not work or for it to somehow try to charge me a monthly subscription. I was surprised that it didn’t even ask me for a credit card and I was even more surprised that it actually works. I highly recommend for everyone! I’ve wanted to have a VPN app for when I need an American IP Address and to say I am pleased with this app is a major understatement. It’s really convenient and simple. Thank you for making such a great app!

Easiest 5Star review in yrs.. The VPN bar has been set very high with the exit of Opera VPN. I can wholeheartedly say, TunnelBear, has exceeded my needs and expectations. I started on the free trial, that ‘YES’ does limit the data to 500mb, p/month. A. I have yet to find ANY TRULY FREE, VPN, and I mean free of ads that interfere with my experience directly.{Especially the speed and ease of integration of the VPN client within iOS’s feature utilizing a VPN Service. As well as free as in ,’no cost ever at any point’, so tunnel bear for my needs, is my, highly scrutinized decision, #1 choice. BONUS NOTE:* Spread the Tunnel Bear word on Twitter and receive a Gig, of EXTRA MONTHLY DATA =1500mb!! If you need more, their subscription service is again, priced more competitively than any other “COMPARABLE” VPN. Tunnel Bear, ‘Ballistic VPN’, that is THAT.

Victor K. My bear has problems connecting to some apps. I have to turn it off when that happens. Apparently some spammers know how to force popups or even change vpn and claim l need a secure vpn to continue. The bear needs to connect better and maul these bad hunters on the apps. I may get into trouble stating this but Google is a hunter itself because they know what’s phishing and spamming us but like a bad prosecutor ignores these baddies and may actually get paid by these robots. My Chrome gets high reviews but l have connections problems. Google even goes over any apps and vpns l believe. I am an American. I believe in the freedom of speech. We seem to have lost much on internet and Congress knows it. We have baddies insiders. Thanks TunnelBear for trying. But there’s still room for roaming the internet Forest.

Not working, customer support?. I used the free service and happily found that it solved problems I was having with my previous well-known VPN. So despite still having a few paid months left on that service, I decided to switch to Tunnelbear and paid for a long-term subscription. Unfortunately, after using it successfully for a few days, it then failed completely. Just won’t sustain a connection. I’ve not been able to figure out how to get customer support either. At this point, I feel like I’ve wasted my money. I now have two paid subscriptions - one which is slow and oversubscribed - and Tunnelbear which is inoperative. I realise that there may be issues with how it’s configuring but in the absence of customer support how can I address those? Where can I get assistance? Or failing that, a refund. After all, I’ve paid my dues and the clock is ticking on my subscription but but I am getting absolutely nothing for it, except frustration.

LIES. The app works as expected, it’s a simple VPN. If you go with the free plan, and run out of data you are given the option to download on a computer for an extra 1GB of data. Except they only give you half that amount. They also say to tweet at them for another 1 GB and they will reply and reward it within an hour. It’s now been two tweets and days later with no reply or extra data given to me. If you’re going to pay for a VPN, there are ,ich better ones (basically all of them) that won’t lie to you about what they offer. If they lie about the simple amount of data you’ll get, why would you EVER trust them to keep your personal information safe? Update for the developer response: obviously nothing is stopping the data from going to my account because I still received HALF the amount promised. If something were preventing me from getting data, I wouldn’t have gotten any. TLDR; the app lies, don’t expect any of your information to be safe because what they say isn’t true.

Trust 🤞. so I trust that this, as a VPN, is doing its job. I haven't seen a particular decrease in spam activity or performance (maybe I'm not aware of it), but I also haven't had any issues with fraudulent activity 🤞. Four stars bc the app turns itself off regardless of my device frequently. I glance up and the VPN has been turned off when I switch connections like at home or work, and I have to manually turn it back on multiple times per day. Not a deal breaker for me but also not ideal. Edit june10,21 - hey team, thank you for your initial responsiveness. The same problem above is actually worse now than in my original review. The VPN is disconnecting more frequently and with more difficulty reconnecting.

This app? Meh.. I have had this VPN installed for over 6 months and I’m not a fan. I mostly use this app on my iPhone. When I’m on a public network, the app just blocks all traffic. My phone shows I’m connected to cellular data, but nothing works until I turn off wireless. The app also prevents my security camera feed from loading, even if it lets me connect to the WiFi. It only allows the camera feed to work if I’m on a trusted network. On my laptop, I have to turn off the VPN or add the network as a trusted network to get online, pretty much defeating the purpose. After I’ve added a network to the trusted list, it tells me to turn on the VPN, like its not running. I was excited for it, but I think there are better choices with less complications. I’ll find out soon enough.

Just add one feature. The app is overall great, connection is generally reliable and fast. However, the way the app manages Trusted Networks is clunky and often downright annoying. Instead of prompting a user to add a network to the trusted networks when they try to turn off the VPN while connected to that network, please add the option to temporarily disable the VPN for the network. Unfortunately, many web developers either intentionally or unintentionally make it difficult to use a VPN with their site, which ends up forcing me to turn off the VPN occasionally. That said, just because I get forced to turn off my VPN to have a feature/site work does not mean I necessarily trust the network forever in the future. There would be a few ways to implement temporary VPN disables (time limit, session limit, etc), which I leave to your expertise, but please change this and I will give 5 stars and not switch to another VPN when my subscription expires.

Terrible VPN, terrible support.. This VPN has never worked properly since I’d purchased it in February. The biggest issue being it doesn’t allow communication from my five iOS devices and two Mac OS devices to Google search engine. And customer service is pretty much redundant. You know, “is the app current?” or “did you turn it off and turn it back on again?” Okay, the latter is something Apple does. Be advised that TunnelBear does not refund one bloody zinc Abe’s head (US) for this alleged VPN. They politely guide you to Apple, and Apple has become the largest money grubbing, fraudulent, don’t give one half a care about their customers. So one has to fill out the “report a problem” on the Apple site. And, suspiciously, at least in my case, the “refund” portion is greyed out. And then Apple responds with brilliant links to forums, etc. Gosh, why didn’t I think of that? I asked Apple to stop jerking me around and refund my $63 and some odd cents USD. I was told it would have to be elevated to the BoD because, clearly, Apple and their crony developers need the money. EDIT: As suspected, Apple denied my refund request. As far as TunnelBear goes, I just tried opening a .PDF email attachment and after 15-20 seconds, I was greeted with the all too familiar “no connection” banner. This happens when TB is active. Turn off TB and BAM! The doc opened immediately. No sense in contacted TB no-support.

Perfect for Warzone!!!. Genuinely a good ahh app to play the beta version of Warzone, but I highly recommend you only play like 2-3 battle royale modes, and 4-8 multiplayer mode, because you start with free 2.0B and Warzone will slowly but surely take some away, and the cool thing about this app is that if you don’t use it after like 1-2 weeks your 2.0B comes back!! It’s worth the wait if you get bored of the same and then suddenly wanna play again, but it’s better to make a new account and not log into a new tunnel bear one because the new one starts with free 2.0 obviously, so overall in my opinion it’s a really good VPN, even better then nordVPN because they charge you money for the first time and that’s just dumb. A whole subscription is useless, tunnel bear is just better because you start off with free gigabytes 💯💯💯, so it’s a 5 star for me

Disappointing. I wasted my money on an annual subscription, and I’m finally moving on after being frustrated with this service for 6 months. TunnelBear disconnects multiple times on a daily basis without notifying me. I want a VPN that reliably runs quietly in the background without having to worry about forgetting to check if the service I’m paying for is actually working. Sometimes TunnelBear runs seamlessly, but more often it slows or even completely prevents browsing and downloads. Additionally, TunnelBear is detected as a VPN and doesn’t work with streaming. The interface would be user-friendly if it actually worked. The bear is cute, but that’s about all this VPN has going for it.

The new map/map colors are weird... and why it crashes?. So, been successfully and proudly using Tunnel Bear for years now, minor hiccups here and there, got used to how it works but now since the recent update of few days ago like June 19th or 18th 2019 where supposedly there are redesigned maps (..) it crashes..like I open the app, the weird color (in my opinion awful..) map appear, there's a sheep now in the middle of nowhere, I click on connect, the map turn of bright colors again, the sheep turns to a bear and everything is working smoothly. Then after a while I want to get back to the app and it simply crashes. It won't open anymore so that in order to disconnect for instance I had to literally delete it from my iPhone and install that again... Mh... why is that? Fix this annoying bug please... and maybe I get that the "visual of a no-color map" turning bright when you're connected and "dark" again when not, might be appealing but I don't personally like that :-/

Voiceover friendly. This gets a five star because it works excellent. It does exactly what I needed to do. I don’t use it on an ongoing basis but if I did I would gladly pay for a subscription to upgrade beyond the amount of data allowed each month. Also most applications do not tell you whether they are friendly for VoiceOver/or other screen reading technology or not. This one does work with VoiceOver… I am blind and I have an iPhone 7. It works perfectly and is extremely easy. There was no learning curve at all… It just took a couple of minutes to figure out the interface and voilà… Done and working great. I am using iOS 13.1.3 with no problems.

Clumsy and poorly designed. They do update regularly-that is the good. They do not notify you of the update, they just do it. When they are done the app is turned off so you are unaware that you are unprotected until you figure out from problems that something needs to be fixed. That something is you must login to TunnelBear to enable it. You must go into the options and reset them because these people have not figured out how to carry settings forward to the update. In short, they update with no notice, turn the application off, and throw away your option settings. Clumsy is generous.

Not worth it. Gave it a try for 3 months and used across PC and ios under iPad and iPhone, and used across Germany Kuwait and turkey...just not up to par. Can’t stream any service that is uses ip location like amazon-video Disney+ or Netflix. PC program crashes all the time, though chrome extension worked fine. iOS app would go possessed and cycle through connect/disconnect continuously until I force end the app. VPN’ing would go through spells of dead slow speeds, Europe vpns were a bit faster but US was like snail mail slow. There was also spells were I would go hours without being able to connect to any vpn location. I was lured by the low price and bitten by a cobra. I ended up I switching over to NordVPN and all issue disappeared. Would not recommend TunnelBear at all, and if TunnelBear is listening....it would be awesome if you could refund me the annual subscription price I paid.

Nice and speedy. I first tried TunnelBear because The New York Times Wirecutter recommended it and I appreciated the strong privacy policies and security audits. After a few days of trying it, I’m loving it. I’ve gone through a handful of VPN apps and none have been perfect. Some get slow or disconnect after using them a bit. With my TunnelBear app, it can sometimes take a bit long to connect when I turn it on… several seconds to several minutes. Another drawback for me is the kill switch not being compatible with WireGuard. Also, there’s an issue I’ve encountered is if I activate airplane mode on my iPad, and later turn it off, Tunnel Bear seems to break and never reconnect. I tried switching it on and off, even force-quitting the app. No luck. The only solution was deleting the app and reinstalling. So if you use airplane mode, you may want to turn Tunnel Bear off first.

VPN for the non-technical. I’m a technical person, but if I was setting up a VPN for someone who wasn’t, this is what I would use. Everything that CAN be put into Grandma-friendly language is, and it Just Works. The feature that I probably use the most on iOS and macOS is the option to automatically connect on anything that isn’t your home WiFi. (On iOS, you can even connect automatically on cellular.) It’s literally the “set it and forget it” option. I wouldn’t mind if the app supported larger font sizes, but that’s about it. I also use ProtonVPN for when I need more granular control, but this is a good option for 99% of the population.

Most carefree/reliable VPN. I’ve tried a few VPNs (Norton, Nord, Windscribe). TunnelBear fits my needs best. I’m using it to secure my data on public WiFi and to have a US connection when traveling abroad. I like that it connects automatically on unknown networks and I can choose safe networks when it isn’t needed at home, etc. I’m currently at a resort roaming from WiFi hotspot to hotspot. It does a great job connecting with each move from access point to access point. This is where the Norton product failed me in the past. I’ve been using the pay version for several months. It does its job without much fuss.

Thank you tunnelbear ❤️🌸✌🏽. I use tunnelbear a lot and was confused by the new icon- I came here to read the reviews after seeing it was for BLM and honestly I love you guys, whoever decided on this and whoever has been writing reviews thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’m a black woman and the ALM stuff in the reviews truly disheartened me but the responses were so supportive to BLM that I wanted to finally give you the five stars you guys deserve. I’ll support this app until the end of time. Even IF this was a stunt, the responses mean so much and I wanted to day thank you. I love you guys so much, thank you for this wonderful app!

Not keeping up. I’ve been using Tunnel Bear for years and have been extremely happy until recently. I don’t feel that Tunnel Bear is keeping up with the changing Internet landscape and customer needs. Recently Tunnel Bear started pushing my VPN connection point to San Francisco, but I live in Central Time, which means you can’t watch prime time streaming shows as they come on after I’m in bed. Previously my connection point was always NYC area. Tunnel Bear’s response? Log off and on until you win the lottery and get NYC. I do that now, but after 10 attempts, I usually give up. Other VPN services are cheaper with user-selectable connection points. Tunnel Bear also doesn’t offer smart DNS and has given up on outsmarting Netflix and other services. Basically, Tunnel Bear grew a huge customer base, but now they are resting on their laurels and have forgotten us.

Great app and supports BLM. I appreciate how you are in support of Black Lives Matter. I read some of the bad reviews and I’m disappointed to see the negativity this app is getting for simply supporting human rights. Regardless of a person’s opinion an app doesn’t deserve a one star rating for supporting human rights. It’s sad that you’re losing revenue over this. Thanks for not backing down after the complaints. With that aside this is a great app and doesn’t make you pay immediately to use anything like most other apps for VPN. Very satisfied and I like the bear theme too, it’s cute.

Not for us but might be perfect for you. This VPN didn’t have the speed we needed, but the customer support, easy user interface, and attractive design make it ideal for most people. I sent in a customer request and had an answer in less than 20 minutes. The program was easy to download, install, and set-up. That said if you need something with more speed, like for online gaming, then this isn’t the VPN for you. Otherwise it’s cute, they have solid ideals, and are very helpful & responsive. Would definitely recommend to most users.

Great VPN. Makes it look like you are somewhere else in the World. Interesting how different web searches are in different countries. Easy to use on both iPhone and MacBook Pro. The only problem I had on the MBP is the background processes chew thru the free data quickly. I didn’t have this issue on my iPhone. Also, on MBP, at one point I think I forgot to turn it off or I closed the app and it was still running.....I think you have to shut it off in the app on MBP and then quit the app. Great free program. 500mb/month free and 1gb free to put on ur computer and 1gb free monthly for tweeting about Tunnelbear. Frickin’ awesome

Works Fairly Well, But, ... Update, 12 Jan 19. ... like most VPN’s I’ve tried, if the bandwidth isn’t big enough, it’ll block WiFi access until you turn it off ... But for the most part, very little hesitation experienced for its automatic operation when joining WiFi networks ... Developer has to work on settings access: I have to either turn-on or turn-off VPN operations in order for the settings node to highlight and become available for access ... - don’t know why ... (???) ... it just doesn’t work very well for public WiFi’s. I’m sure it’s a bandwidth problem that prevents VPN activation and internet access ... works great at home, and in other household/private locations. But if I end-up using cellular service - which I trust - then why bother having VPN service ? ...

Pretty good. So far I’m using the free version and it works pretty well. I previously used CyberGhost’s free trial and between the two I like CyberGhost. TunnelBear sometimes take a little longer to connect, and it’s missing the crucial option to turn on a connection WITHOUT removing my home WiFi from the trusted networks list. That’s a big plus of CyberGhost. Also, I wish TunnelBear had more pricing options. For example, I can get CyberGhost for 3 years for only $99. On the other hand, TunnelBear costs almost $60 just for one year. That’s a big difference! Overall, TunnelBear is a decent VPN and is great for the very minimum, or a beginner VPN service. I appreciate that they still have a free tier available.

Simple, fast and secure. I've tried dozens of vpns but tunnel bear makes using a vpn quick and easy. I'm able to use my account across multiple devices and have never run into an issue with anything software related yet. The interface is polished and clean which I like. The performance is what I like best: I get the security of a vpn without any compromise in wifi or data speed. I appreciate that they share how they're audited and very throughout in their description of how and what they collect data wise (which btw is not a whole lot) from users. I bought the $10 a month plan and have zero regrets. Well done tunnel bear 🐻!

Completely stopped internet access. So for the past day I was completely without internet access, even with WiFi. I was really confused, so I tried deleting TunnelBear and that’s exactly what it was. The app only allows you to use 500MB of VPN use per month, which lasted me less than a day. The app does not even notify you when you have ran out. Even when you have the VPN disconnected on the phone it still doesn’t allow internet use, you have to completely delete the app. This VPN is useless, the free version only allows you 500MB which lasts less than a day and then it forces you to put in your password to purchase the premium version. I will never use this app again and I recommend it to no one.

Easy to use but periodic connection issues. Have had this VPN for couple of years and overall satisfied. Easy to use but at times does not always automatically connect when open iPads or iPhones. Have all the correct settings on. More an issue with iPads. Wish it was more seamless as have to double check that VPN on especially when traveling and many times have to go into app and manually connect. Gets to be a pain as we have 5 devices using the Bear. Have reinstalled but still have periodic issue. Did contact customer service but not great response. Looking at other VPN options though appears none are perfect and have other problems. Hope this can be resolved as prefer not to change.

Great App. Now I don’t normally write reviews but this app deserves one. Honestly, as someone who knows absolutely nothing about VPNs I can thankfully say this app is probably one of the best. It’s completely free and makes using a VPN so simple! It’s very easy to use and pretty self explanatory, (it also doesn’t use huge words that I tend to not understand.) On top of this app already being great, it’s also pretty cute, the whole theme is quite adorable and pretty easy to use/understand! I would definitely recommend this app! Good job devs :)

Great but.. please read. Great app. Number 1 VPN that I use & will always go be my go to. I do not pay for the app though, oddly enough because that it is so essential to my daily. The reason being that there isn’t enough features. There are free VPNs with more features, why would I pay for less accessibility? I would love to subscribe annually to an app I use as often as this one but for the price. The app does not meet $50 worth of goods. (Not to compare) essentially the thought is - I can buy a video game for $60 that can be bad & you can get a free game that is amazing. In the sense that getting your customers to pay shouldn’t be the focus, it should be what’s actually available for purchase. ( right now there only being one feature, the VPN) That is the only reason I won’t pay as of right now. I will be looking to in the future! As a wise man said. “If you’re not innovating, get out!”

Frustrating connection issues. Several times in the month I’ve had TunnelBear, the connection is made and immediately broken. Then the process of connecting to the server starts over again. This happens during the early evening more than any other time. This leads me to believe there are too many users and not enough servers to handle the traffic. This will prevent your computer from closing the app, and from turning off. Additionally, the 176 Mbps service I have gets chopped down to 20 or less during high traffic hours it was under 5 mbps. I expected a slowdown but not that degree. Update. After a constant run around with the same recommendations from tech support and answering the same questions multiple times, I’ve decided just to give up on this app and uninstall it from my computer.

Everyone should be using a VPN!!. I work in the technology sector. When I talk with people about using a VPN on their mobile device or computer, I get a naive response that they aren’t doing anything that requires privacy. So does that mean you are willing to have cameras installed in your house where people can see what you are doing 24/7? I understand the leap in that logic but EVERYONE should be concerned about their privacy and do everything they can to protect it. Once information is “out there”, you don’t get to take it back. TunnelBear is so easy to use and there service is fairly priced. Their service is great. Please get this app and use it.

Outstanding. Overall a wonderful service. Affordable, easy to use, and support is available quickly! When I first set up my account I encountered an issue but the support team responded to my help request almost immediately and helped resolve my issue quickly & professionally! So if you need help they’re there to help! The app itself is fun and easy to use! Watching the bear tunnel to a new country is adorable and satisfying. The connection to sites is as fast as without a VPN enabled which is a huge step up from other platforms!

Baffled. I don’t know if it’s Apple iOS downloads that could be causing problems or this app but I thought the reason to have a VPN was to be protected while using unsecured WiFi; well quiet the opposite is happening when it comes to my iPad Mini. I’ve updated this app and update it whenever it’s needed so I don’t know what else can be done to keep this app from not automatically turning on when I turn my data off and use WiFi. Sometimes it will not turn on when I use data and turn WiFi off as well. This happens all to often. Am so frustrated .

Issues with TB. Currently rating this 3 stars as since th last two updates, TB hasn't worked on my iPad and I have no idea why it doesn't, despite being compatible. I'll change my rating to 5 stars when it's fixed. Additionally, Tunnel Bear is the best VPN I've ever used. It's compatible with iOS devices as well as the PC. Even if you are unsure about it, you can try it and get up to 1.5 gb a month (you start up with 500mb and I you tweet, you get an addition 1gb). Thank you Tunnel Bear team!

Great App, works as expected. Great app. It’s a pretty decent VPN. Loving the art style you guys have going on. Really makes the whole experience of encrypting my data much more enjoyable. That being said, I’m yet to see any data leaks from them which is comforting (unlike another unnamed VPN 🤨). It’s easier to have data leaks happen than one would expect, so I feel like my data is pretty safe with them. Pricing is reasonable, it not a little premium, but you really do get what you pay for here so it’s fair. Devs gimme a shout if you see this. I would love to know if you have anything on planned on the roadmap.

TunnelBear. I enjoyed using this app a lot. VPN worked perfectly for what I use it for. Not once did I get the typical ‘IP address hidden ‘ error message from any servers or site unlike majority of VPN apps and nor did I have to put up with lagging either. Definitely 5 star rating & yes it’s worth paying monthly fee to have it at my disposal. 😋

Best free offer. This vpn is one of the best!! I personally used it to play Warzone mobile because it is not available where I live and when I connected the vpn to Chile it worked flawless!!! Recommended!! You get two Gb sadly for the free version but I think it is worth it purchasing this vpn!!!

Best vpn!. This app is extremely easy to use, and has a wide range of options available for free. Overall, it’s the best free vpn I’ve ever had and tried (out of many, assure me), and I highly recommend it.

Constantly have to re-install vpn profile. When the app connects, usually it works well but waiting for it to connect to a tunnel is a genuine chore. Sometimes I’ll wait well over 10min for a tunnel but then still have to stop the attempt and re-install the vpn profile which takes another 3-4min. I’m over it, and I’m abandoning ship.

Drop outs a drag. Sometimes drops out when using which can be annoying but otherwise good.

Unnecessary political agenda. Tried the app out for free on mobile and PC. Was impressed at the functionality, privacy policy and ease of use. Subscribed. Went to the icon change option in the settings and saw it full of options including BLM and LGBT propaganda. Completely unnecessary from a VPN service. We are all entitled to our opinions on these subjects. However, it doesn’t need to be front and centre in this service. Unsubscribed and uninstalled. Shame because the app itself works flawlessly.

Coolest VPN in App Store. Tunnel Bear is really easy to use and extremely beautiful designed VPN. Everything works fast and smooth, I’ve never had any problems with this app. Highly recommended!

Had issues with internet connection. The app was working fine for me for awhile until one day my phone could not connect to my wifi or use my data which is why I had to uninstall the app

kind of good i guess. Since it works for other people, ill give it a two star. For my mobile, i downloaded it but it kept saying “did it verify” or something like that, it didnt do anything on my mobile niether did it go in anybodys mobile that mine is comnected to

Want to be SJW campaign fodder?. I noticed my app icon had gone monochrome and was concerned something had gone wrong. I checked if connected, checked it seemed to be working, gave up, came back next day to worry a bit more, then thought maybe there was a critical update I had not applied. Checked updates and received a BLM message. Still no explanation about why my icon was monochrome and no apology from TB for my wasted time and worry. What next month? Maybe pink, maybe rainbow? If the app is to be used as a social media platform this should be clearly stated in its promotional material so potential users are warned. We are paying for a VPN not to be social justice campaign fodder.

Glitchy. <12mnths use. Amazing, fast and reliable at first. Now constant glitching, bad connections, internet stops working, connection stops. Could be my network provider but it’s happening on two devices with two networks. Customer service are great! It’s just too irritating for user ability

4 star for easy and simple interface. I will give 5 stars if I can use it in China, unfortunately I can’t, just tried it a week or two before. Probably will not continue the subscription due to this problem.

The geniuses need to rethink it. I bought this virtual provider to book flights so carriers don’t charge me high Australian prices for flights I know I can get cheaper off shore. Every time I tried to book using this the airline site jammed and refused to work. Turn it off and bookings at full Australian prices worked. Airlines obviously have built in a detection system into their sites.

Working perfectly. I’m in Australia and sending photos to companies in America that by them thinking that I’m living And working in America. I don’t need them to know my real location and this is the perfect totally free app 🧸🧸 that works for me.

Best VPN. I have been using TunnelBear for a number of years now. It has always performed well and seemed to trick my location effectively. Definitely download the app and try for yourself, it is totally free and effective. jhw00 May 2018

THIS IS THE BEST APP EVER!!. My dad has a block on the wifi, so if i want to use social media i have to buy my own credit. Anyway, i ran out of data today and i wanted to do my streaks so i was googling for like 3 hrs till I came across this app and its like the only free one and it works so dam well!! like this app deadset saved my 200 day streak. THANKYOU!

Auto connecting unreliable. TunnelBear offers at least 50/20 speeds in Australia, can’t speak for high speeds or elsewhere. Great, user friendly interface. Wish more tech firms were so relatable & approachable instead of using meaningless tech jargon. Only thing that could be improved is the service’s automatic engagement of VPN when connecting through untrusted connections.

Very unreliable. Frequently fails to connect, at least for me. The app UI hangs completely, while settings shows connection getting stuck on either “disconnecting” or “connecting”, the former more often than the latter. I’ve tried everything from changing servers, reinstalling the VPN profile and the app to rebooting the device numerous times. Other apps like 1.1.1.1 seem to have no problem connecting so I’m sure the issue is exclusive to Tunnel bear.

Creating an account. Turns out the email was not popping up when it was getting the email everything is good now and thanks for responding.

Polished. Great quality, fast and easy to use VPN with decent pricing. The whole bear element is heavily integrated and the app has clean and fluid animations along with a simple yet elegant GUI really drive the purchase into that quality/polished product market. Two paws up.

Great. This is awesome but it would be nice if it gave you more data from the beginning. However it is completely free so I’ll give it that.

Very Nice App. Totally worth getting the subscription! Servers are fast and secure. You have a lot of servers to choose from. I love this app and the bear sounds are so cute! 🧸❤️

Perfect value. The app works 100% and allow me to connect Spanish radio with no trouble at all

Works fine.. Still using free version but as it's working well I'll probably go for paid. Using it to watch OZ shows from overseas. Try it free to see if it does what you need.

Impressive app. Very impressive app have to say, attracts my attention. Compared a lot of vpns, and this one kept me the longest. I don’t usually come up and do reviews for random apps

Tunnel bear does not work on my iPad. This VPN used to be OK although very slow data through put. Now for what ever reason every time I try to run the VPN on my iPad it will not connect and the Tunnel Bear disconnects my WiFi on the iPad. Makes the VPN useless. I’m not impressed.

SO AMAZING!!. This is by far the best vpn I’ve ever used. Its fast, easy and works so well. I love the idea of having a free option with an understandable amount of use per month rather than having to annoyingly switch from free to money after a certain amount of time like other apps. Awesome!

Only thing missing is a macos App Store app!. Great vpn, I always reccomend it to my non tech friends looking for a vpn recommendation. I personally have stopped using it due to there being no Mac version that can be distributed via App Store, but apart from that I only have good things to say about Tunnelbear.

Easy to use. Great for those times when you read an article on a website and the embedded video you just read about and want to watch says you’re not in region.

Good range of payment options. I am very impressed with this app and the helpful team respond to queries very quickly. The app is simple to set up and works well. They offer a good range of payments, including a 3 year deal with a single one off payment and no ongoing subscription for people who don't want to sign up for any recurring payments - a very fair choice of options.

Review. Overall a decent app, however, will often take a lengthy amount of time to connect or require multiple attempts. Sometimes it will DC mid use, often it will connect to a very slow server making things not load and requiring me to turn it on and off. It doesnt let you download torrents with it on.

Was soo :))), then soo :(((, NOW SOOO :))))). Used to be *****, worked splendidly :))), then some issues in iOS 12.4, Customer Support was immediate!!! and successful on first try!!! Would give 10 stars but only found five :)))

Easy to use. I haven’t noticed any difference in speed and have been really happy with how Easy it was to set up and how simple it is to use.

There’s a problem. I love this app but there’s one problem I can’t watch Netflix without an error message showing up I’d like to know if there is a fix for this it would be a big help thank you

Super. I’m using the free version since almost a year now and I really like it. It is super easy to use and work perfectly. I recommend it.

Great VPN. First when I saw this on the App Store, I was like another one of those “free VPNs” again? but then I read some of the reviews and decided to download and test it out. Then I googled that if this vpn actually hides your ip and it resulted that this vpn creates a new ip which isn’t your actual IP address and I decided to put that to the test by doing a google search of what is my ip with and without the vpn. And with the vpn, it actually creates a new IP address and with that ip I did an ip lookup and it wasn’t the same location without the vpn

Great Security Access As Travel. We travel overseas for more than two months yearly. Many countries, Asia, South America, Europe and accessing free wifi, airports, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants, hotels and I am so pleased to have the security of Tunnel Bear, works brilliantly. Also enables me to access the Australian sites barred to me when I am away from Home. Try it you you will be pleased.

Connection issues. Hi I have using this app since last update I have been facing whole lot of issues like logging in take longer and even getting server omg which takes forever just keeps connecting very disappointing might need to look for something better now!!

Troubles with connecting automatically. The app works great when everything is connected, however in its current iteration I have to disconnect then reconnect manually before I want to use the internet. Extremely frustrating, especially when opening push notifications. If this problem still exists when my subscription needs to be renewed, I will probably give another provider a go

Strength to strength. Servers seem to get faster every few months. I’ve noticed that TunnelBear can often circumvent VPN blocking on a lot of a public wifi services that my other VPNs can’t. Fast, reliable and often times more capable.

Help. It’s very easy and good and FREE! But does it work on Apple Music and if it does how to I change it because it still says I’m in Australia, and does it work on Netflix if there are accounts in Australia?

very slow connection. Browsing internet on safari to book flights with loading page took for ages . Gave up and remove the apps

Awesome VPN but…. tunnel bear is by far my favourite VPN because it is so reliable, Lightning fast (in Australia) and easy to use. The only problem with is that it is to expensive to commit to over its competitors such as nord VPN etc. Even though it has a free version, that is not enough for a month so if it was made a little bit more affordable I would definitely commit to it over its competitors. Also I would like to ask why people think it doesn’t work with Netflix and other streaming services because it works perfectly for me.

Staying connected on iPad. TB keeps dropping out when using iPad at home. Bummer. Don’t understand options

It's great 😎. Works so well, ez interface, and good endpoints (not banned by companies so vids with regional blocking etc work). It would be amazing if you could buy a data block for those months where you only want to look at a few things.

VPN. First I'll start with the fact I appreciate this VPN as it is free and easy to use. On the other hand... this VPN configuration through Apple is not steady. Half way through searching on safari browser it will disconnect sometimes within the first 30 seconds and sometimes 1 min - 1hr ( completely random ). I've tested this on 3 different devices using 3 seperate wifi networks. Now for people using this VPN to remain anonymous I would definitely say this is a problem....... Please work on this

Exceptional VPN. I’ve been using this VPN since the early and it really has come a long way. Easy, dependable and simple to use, highly recommended.

Every phone should have this. I was literally looking for a free VPN but all of them were scams. I clearly advise that this application shall be in every phone every now and then. Special thanks, Your friendly reviewer,

They are stealing your money !. This app is cancel since 4 months and they still taking my money on my expired credit card ! Very hard to cancel membership, be aware !

Malo cuidado.

Make it better for Warzone mobile. Now

Unfortunately doesn't help whatsoever. I'm out of my country of residence (Canada) and currently in India, and unfortunately tunnel bears VPN doesn't give access to any services currently blocked by ISPs here. For example: tiktok, crunchyroll, twitch, and many websites. After trying many servers on the app from around the world I've come to the conclusion that for the end user all tunnelbear is doing is slowing down my network and providing any of the services a VPN claims to offer. Would give 0/10 stars if I could.

Lacks good servers. Had this got rid of it when I discovered Windscribe and got 60 gb’s a month free, this you wont get even 10. Deleted it . Not worth it.

Boo!. This app never works anymore, and it never sends me my free data for tweeting.

Used it from USA to canada. It seems like TunnelBear is into censoring websites. I went to the advocate.com site to read the news, this is a gay website on issues. It was blocked. I turned off the VPN and was able to access the site. Its not blocked in usa and not in canada. Only on this VPN

Poor connections. Toronto and Montreal always have a shotty connection

Simple & Fast. Pure VPN experience :D easy to use, Fast, simple, No Ads ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow. Super et gratuit

amazing!. best vpn ive got, 10/10 recommended :)

Paid To Get More Data. The Ping is Kinda Decent But Can you Make it More fair Than paying money for more data? Becuase I couldn’t find any vpn apps that are free but can’t change the app to a cheap app or free?

Length of time waiting for data to return. the time to wait for bandwidth to return is way too long

roblox. i used it for a display name. works if you instal do what you need to do then delete.

Got Political. TunnelBear got political. It doesn’t matter who you’re supporting nor why, just for the love of all that is holy, shut up and stick to providing a service. Politicizing yourself is off-putting to say the least. In response to the developer’s response: You don’t understand. By taking a political position (and when there are riots and public disagreement over such a movement, it’s definitely political), you have undermined your position of being a neutral actor. You are no longer a company providing a service, you are one with a political position. It means you cannot be trusted; where will it end? Will you convince yourselves in future it is okay to curate and censor what people can see and say online? What IPs they connect to? Sorry, but no thanks. Taking a political position, *any* such position, means you aren’t a neutral actor and should not be trusted to be one. Oh, and by the way, this update which presumably should have just changed an icon broke using your VPN on cellular networks for me. Great job.

Free and fast 😎. The fact that you get 1GB every month is amazing! This VPN is different then the other VPNs I tried using! Also I love the cute bears 🥰

It’s okay. My favourite moments are when the app logs me out for no reason or when it refuses to connect to the vpn server

Sort of ok vpn. Always have to manually activate this vpn when i close down airplane mode (which i use while travelling). Shouldn’t Tunnel Bear automatically reactivate when i reach a destination with wifi? 3 ⭐️

Update not working. Updated the app Not working anymore Paid a full year subscription Ends in a couple months

Excellent. Easy to use. Fast. Works EVERYTIME. Never had an issue while using. Works for streaming!

Amazing love it. Wonderful experience

Why dors it have usage data? My other vpn app doesnt not have it. Should not have to need usage data?

Great, but doesn’t work well in china. I know the government censors information and blocks the usage of vpns, but the point of vpns is to bypass that. So I wish you could improve the chances of it being completely unusable (like mine, and I even paid for a month). Other than that, it works great in other regions of the world.

Best VPN ever!. It gives me free VPN, and even data! 1GB every month! This is the best.

Great little VPN. Easy to employ.

Noovo. Difficultés à me connecter avec Noovo

No sirve. No sirve te corta el internet

Keeps logging off and supports BLM. Keeps logging off of all my devices!!!!!!! Seriously a big pain ..would not recommend. And supports a terrorist group called BLM

It’s doesn’t work. This really got my hopes up then crushed me down. There is like no shows available in Canada so when I saw this app and it’s good reviews and how it was free I thought it was to good to be true, and it was.

Used it and it got 27 users using my network. After using this i tried to connect something to my network and it said that it was overloaded and i got help with it and it said there was 27 users using my network and the cause was a VPN. A vpn is supposed to prevent this not cause it.

Slowest VPN I've ever used.. What's the point of this? This is the worst service ever. Ping is decent No where close to my max bandwidth ***Can't select city*** USA and Canada are pretty big countries there's no reason to be connecting to California when you're in NY Pretty expensive compared to others - Find a different VPN!

w vpn. probably one if the better if not best free vpn’s i could find

Works, very good. Everything is great.

Nice. The connection was really good but I wish there was more than 2GB for free

Question?. I have three star because it’s more of a question, it’s my first time using vpn so I just pressed a random state/country I’m I good to go now?

Horrible. Why would I pay money to play games at school and have to pay so much money worst app ever 😤

Great protection. I loved the fact that you can add up to 5 devices who doesn’t have just a cell or computer and cheaper than others.

Okay. Not bad vpn overall. They do support several woke causes which is why I quit.

Amazing. Free vpn

Won't work on multiple devices. I wanted this to use on two of my IOS devices. Only works on one and wants a second purchase for another device

Deleted. Now owned by a company known to give away privacy info. Now owned by Mcafee a company known for giving up information about its users with very little pressure from government agencies. Your choice if you still trust this app to protect your privacy.

Review. Steller VPN

Generally ok. Sometimes the app freezes and I have to re-log-in to see show. Pretty frustrating. Shows freeze. But on a good day when it works, it works

I love my tunnel bear. I don’t know why this isn’t the top vpn , they do an amazing job without charging you an arm and a leg

Nice app but... I don't understand why you have to wait for data to refresh over a span of 15 days. What if you're on vacation or visiting family in a country that most texting apps are blocked there? 15 days seems too long, in circumstances where you're in a country for less than 15 days, I don't seem to find reason to just wait instead of using a different one. Not only that, my internet stops working when I try to connect. it takes at least 5 tries to actually connect. Even after connecting, I still can't use apps that should be available in the country I've connected to. Overall, it's a good vpn with a few flaws that I'd definitely look over. Would recommend if you aren't on vacation or anything for a long time.

Very good. Like it Easy to use

Do not buy. It use to work however now does not enable access. No customer support.

Great speedy free vpn. This’s the one if you just need to do some light browsing

Works in some countries, not others. Tunnel Bear does not work in Vietnam. Nor in Spain. Nor in Sweden. GhostBear is unavailable for iPhone. This app doesn’t have along shelf life.

Get another VPN. I purchased this VPN and it doesn’t work. My apps stopped working because it knew I was in a different location. If it does work, it’s short lived because it will stop your internet from working. It worked better when it was free. Spend your money on a VPN that works and don’t make the same mistake as me by purchasing this for three years.

VoodooScience. Incredible app. Just the thought that they would hire an independent consultant to find “holes” in their software and then release the results shows they are serious about the quality of their product. This app also always works for me unlike another highly rated app which would show “VPN” while displaying unprotected when going to their website. My experience has been great. Highly recommend.

well it caused issues. I downloaded this so I could use Germany and get a display name in roblox, and as I did that and downloaded it, there was issues with my Disney+?? Then (not being in the app) just the big growl came on out of nowhere and scared the heck outa me. It still wouldn’t let me connect? And I was scared so badly, so I decided to DELETE the app. Right as I did, Disney+ went right up. I think it might be that this doesn’t have enough wifi to help it, but idk about the growl. It just came out of my sound and really creeped me out. idk anymore, but I’m scared to redownload this

Not working on iPad with iOS 13. It’s not working. Having the same problem as Natquebec on Nov. 2nd. In a hotel with a public WiFi and Tunnel bear won’t complete the connection. If I turn it off I can surf. If there is a solution, please god post it somewhere someone can easily find. I could not find it. Read Natquebec’s problem when I went back to the App Store to see if I actually had the right app. After trying for an hour, I’m turning in and don’t have time to contact App Support to work through it. If I knew it was an issue I would have done it hours ago. If I can’t get it to work soon, I’m removing the app. If I can’t use it, which I haven’t been able to, it’s useless.

Seems good except. While I have it connected in auto, I go to a store and then the vpn disconnects. I got this so it would add some protection while out. So does this mean there was data leakage? If I’m connected in tunnel bear, I want to stay connected until I disable it. So just downloaded update so not sure if this issue has been fixed, but seems like bug, maybe not, just seems that way. Really don’t want data leakage in public place. Whole point of vpn is to protect data. So update does same thing. It does not stay connected so guess data leakage. One unhappy camper.

Regular disruptions of service, not recommended.. This app seems to perform better on my iPhone than on my laptop, where it continually disconnects and reconnects (sometimes several times within just one minute). This has caused several disruptions in my workflow which can slow down productivity significantly. I have notified TunnelBear about these issues and submitted error reports with zero response thus far. If I don’t get a response (or a miraculous improvement) soon I will have to request a refund and try another app.

Left me out in the cold. From day one this app slowed down my data on my 7S until I had to turn it off most of the time just to connect. Finally last night cellular data on my phone WOULD NOT WORK at all while I was stuck downtown late at night alone in the freezing cold and needing Uber to work to request a ride! I tried turning off VPN, removing Tunnelbear as a VPN, and deleting the app, rebooted my phone like six times, finally had to do a hard reset on my entire phone and wait while shivering and freezing on a street corner to re-install my apps to call a car. Data finally worked again after that. I will never re-install this app nor trust it for my loved ones to use either. Just too risky losing data at the worst possible time.

Highly recommend TunnelBear...but. I have the annual subscription going on my second year now and find it to be super user friendly and great to VPN on wifi and data. However, it seems lately it is taking longer to connect, which is not a huge inconvenience but a minor frustration when simply trying to look something up or refresh my email inbox. Overall, I find it’s worth the annual subscription for unlimited data and having the product itself.

Really good! Just one problem.... I have been using this app for a year now and can say that it is really good! The reason I started using this app is because it CAN be free. I was on a free VPN frenzy, anyway the one problem is that there is such a small data (500mb). I know that there is options to get extra data, but that still dosnt make that big of a difference, it only gets you 1mb (well one of them not sure for the other one). But even when it’s out of data, it still protects your phone, and it’s still reliable.

TunnelBear (Seems To Word As Advertised). TunnelBear is a neat VPN app for iOS that makes using it a breeze (which is ironically part of its problem. With an interface–that I like–that looks like a hipster video game it takes the guesswork out of using it to such a degree I am not always sure it is doing anything). So while I don't want it to become overly wonky, I wouldn't mind if it displayed an IP address (though as imagine you can find the data in the iOS settings) along with the country your signal is seemingly being sent through.

Subscription not working. When it works it’s fine. I used TB years ago but stopped my subscription when we stopped traveling during lockdown. Now I’m on the road again I installed, used up the free trial data, upgraded and I do see that apple has charged me for the sub, but TB still says I’m on the free trial and have run out. It’s not seeing the sub. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, same. When I try a restore, it says I already have an active sub, but it is talking about my sons email add, not mine, and I can’t see where it’s getting that from.

VPN doesn’t Auto-Connect on Mobile. Tunnelbear has served me well over the years, however, lately I can’t keep my VPN to stay connected. It seems like every 15 minutes I have to go to the Tunnelbear app and manually turn it on after it abruptly turns off. This shouldn’t even be an issue; a VPN should never allow you to connect to a website until it’s turned on. Yet lately this has been the case more often than not. Please fix this issue, it’s a relatively recent one (didn’t happen in the past) but it’s really making me consider switching to a different VPN provider.

Recent abnormalities. The app is very good and user friendly however lately it seems like rogue or fake apps are taking its place and causing behaviors that a unlike it. For example after paying for multiple devices to be covered, I’m unable to put my product on iPhone. It has also created bears and are affiliated with Marxist organizations which many of of us want politics left out of the product we use. If TunnelBear seeks to alienate certain groups in favor of other, then it needs to create a list of who is welcome and who is not.

Needs option to turn off without having to log out while streaming video. When trying to stream video content (Netflix, etc.) I attempt to turn off Tunnel Bear but a window pops up that asks if I want to add that network to my trusted networks or cancel turning off Tunnel Bear VPN. But I want to do neither. I want to be able to stream my content and merely flip Tunnel Bear VPN back on once I'm finished. Instead of being able to briefly turn off Tunnel Bear I have to log out. That's a hassle. Otherwise it's great.

Great vpn. Great app. But the new update(3.01) has a bit of an issue when shutting down TunnelBear. When I disconnect it’ll show a loading icon that never goes away so I get out of the app thinking that it’ll disconnect eventually. It doesn’t. On the top left of my screen it’ll show the vpn icon again. So I’ll go back on the TunnelBear app to shut it off and close the app only for it to show the vpn icon on the top left of my screen. After doing this dance for a while longer I’m finally able to turn TunnelBear off.

Worst VPN l’ve Ever Used. I gave TunnelBear two stars because it is fast- but the connection is very unreliable and drops constantly. Doesn’t matter what you are doing- music, video, games, email, FB- anything the connection drops. Also I have been blocked from numerous web sites because of problems with the TunnelBear assigned IP addresses. Support only allows one issue per hour so if you have have multiple problems you are out of luck. The bottom line is I don’t have time for wonky apps and crappy support. The worst of the four VPNs I have used to date. I deleted the app after a week- 60 bucks down the hole. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

Great app, very secure but one flaw.. Personally, I love the TunnelBear app, hackers have threatened me and it secured me from them. I get content that I can’t get in the United States and TunnelBear has the best connections so it doesn’t give me poor internet like other VPN’s do. But when I set the country to Australia and go to Netflix to try and watch Harry Potter or Fantastic Beasts, it detects that I am using a VPN. And this is the best Free VPN and in order for it to not get detected I need NordVPN or another paid one. Can this please be fixed? Thanks!

Honestly The Best [FREE] VPN. Been using this VPN for almost 4 months now and they’ve only gotten better. Started at 5GB a month for free (which never seemed to run out or go down for that matter) and then they’ve recently upped it to 15GB a month….STILL free. Connects instantly and has a ton of spots for free that others will normally charge for. Doesn’t have every spot but it’s more than worth it for what they offer. Beyond solid app, if you’re looking for something that doesn’t charge you after a 3 day trial period.

Love it. It is wonderful to have this app at my disposal when trying to conduct private business within my work or other open wifi environment. I cannot count the number of times I've used this at work so the 'nannies' cannot track every move I make. It's fast and it's discreet. But most of all, it's free if you don't need to use it all of the time. Even then, it's a bargain and customer service was very prompt and respectful when I had a question. Can't think of a reason to go anywhere else! Stlricky

Updated- wait until next version (Easy to use, fast and reliable. **Update*** Don't download the September 18th release, has bugs. Wait until next update before getting this. I have tried several VPNs and this one has the best interface. With all the VPNs there is often a lag with the initial connection. Tunnel bear is no different. However running speed tests with other VPNs tunnel bear seems to always perform better than others.

Simple mission and philosophy. I had worked with their engineering team on issues my phone had staying connected months ago, and nothing was resolved - I was quite sad about that. Knowing the simple philosophy and mission of TunnelBear, I wanted to use it... here I am trying it again and it’s working! A couple days ago I wrote the engineer again and while we’re unsure what caused the change for my device to work with it, I’m just glad it does.

Passive Aggressive Bears. I was a paid subscriber for over 4 years. They had a hiccup with there last update. VPN just completely stopped working. So for the first time I had to use their customer service bears. They lived up to the name of bears. Initially I received canned responses telling me to do what I had listed in the email that I had already completed. After a week of nonsense I cancelled then they charged me for a month (really two months they are not too good at math either must be the claws). The email I received was very passive aggressive and blamed me for their failure. Great service unless you have to use customer service the unprofessionalism will make you cancel TunnelBear.

I love the bear. I was looking for the best Free VPN, because I’m not always connected to a public WIFI, then this bear was in the app store. The bear give 500Mb for free in the start, I invite a friend so we can have 1Gb more in the account, making a total 1.5Gb permanent for the account for me and my friend, if i make tweet every month the give 1Gb for free, making a total of 2.5Gb and that is very very good!!!!!! For me. The bear is here for me for my secure connection i can use the bear for every situation Is the best VPN. i love this bear Rawr. I like if the bear make this 2.5Gb permanent pleases hahaha.

Ehh. I have been paying VPN every month for a year now, as I am confused about which vpn really gives me the service I want, but I am still subscribed to bear tunnel. but this time I see a lot of changes, not every page in google chrome is working properly, I choose the New York location, everything is fine in the vpn, but when I check my location online, it shows me New Jersey and for Australia, the location appears in India. this is the last month that I subscribe and I would suggest you to choose another vpn, not this one, if you are going to use it with a fixed location like me, for example, I am interested for New York or Sydney

Perfection. Sometimes it takes waddling through the ‘free vpns’ out there to realize you’ve had the best to begin with. Compared to the other ones that show your ads and interrupt your connection just so you can go back to the app to see me re ads, this is a breath of fresh air. P.s when it’s connecting why not say ‘cleaning the tunnels, dousing them with honey, bear sliding blissfully’ or smt idk Thanks guys

Does Strange Things. Just purchased a 1 month subscription as I am travelling and using some public wifi. TB worked at first but I have had 3 unusual experiences that made me delete the app. First as I was tunnelling from the US to Canada the map suddenly showed my location just off Africa. A second attempt worked briefly but then my location was moved to the Bermuda Triangle. The kill switch did not work! Finally as I attempted to turn the service off it simply cycled back on repeatedly. Don’t trust it. Won’t use it. Deleted it! Developer reached out (3.5 months after the fact) and provided an explanation for the Bermuda location. Perhaps this should have been noted in the app or certainly when Bermuda popped up. It is a valid explanation. Still unsure if i would use the app again in a hotel public wifi setting. In fairness the developer has now reached out twice in the last several days to provide info on the “Bermuda “ issue and to notify me that direct email contact contact to their support service would solicit a faster response. That is a good sign.

Issues with WiFi connection dropping when tunnel bear is activated. For the past few weeks I’ve had consistent issues with my home router WiFi WiFi disconnecting each time I try to activate tunnel bear on my iOS devices, including the latest version. I have been using the product with no issues for about 5 months. The ookla vpn on the same devices run with no issues. I will try deleting and reinstalling, but am not hopeful this will resolve the issue. Update: changing the “tunneling protocol” from “default” to “IKEv2” resolved the disconnection issue, but it would be nice to know what triggered the issue - after several months of trouble free VPN coverage.

Trustworthy works easily reliable. Tunnel bear is the most recommended VPN by those who are in a position to know. Many “free” and many paid VPN’s are shams and really do not protect you, Tunnel Bear does protect your real location every time. No one can find your real ISP with it , unlike others. Tunnel Bear also protects against “leakage” Many VPN’s leak data that can be used to find you, this app doesn’t. I do a lot of things online that I shouldn’t . I have to have a VPN that is 100% reliable and works

Depends on the device.... On my Windows computer this is awesome, I’m in Peru and it provides great protection. It would get a solid 5 out of 5 if this was just talking about computer protection. I wish it would completely hide but I guess I can live with it minimized. On my IPad it gets -1!! It actually doesn’t work on my iPad or iPhone. It starts up, runs and then proceeds to block the internet from use, it asks if a provider can be accepted and then will ONLY accept no for answer. It is sooooo frustrating, I would very much like to use it on my apple devices but it is muy muy no bueno for those. Sorry big bear you let me down when it comes to these devices

Worst app. I think they are fishing me. (I only gave five stars so u guys can see this) So I first downloaded this app to set my location to watch certain shows in Netflix. When I typed my password to log in without the vpn it was working. But when I got the vpn and tried to log in guess what.. it said incorrect. And I typed both passwords correctly. Terrible. If u don’t want to get hacked I don’t recommend this app. Terrible. 🙄😤

Buggy. I was trying out the free tier and the app said that I had earned an “achievement” (I couldn’t tell what the achievement was for - it said something about a bear...) and the achievement gave me an additional 1GB of data. Then when my remaining data hit 1GB left, the app said I had used up all of my data and the remaining amount instantly went from 1GB to zero. I know I probably shouldn’t complain about not getting something that was free in the first place but the whole experience kind if irritated me. First because there was know way to know how I earned an additional GB and then because they took the additional GB away abruptly with no explanation.

Good but not 100%. I got it to get a display name then I ran out of powers so I couldn’t go anywhere and deleted the app because I didn’t want to pay to get free power. But then I got so I can change my display name so I logged in and it would only let me connect to the US and no where else. If I tried to go somewhere else would say connection unstable or something along the lines of that. It was really annoying so I might have to make a new account just to change it back. But before this it was a really useful app so it still gets a good score

Great but sometimes have to close application. Really like TunnelBear vpn. Having some issues with using on some sites where the site just won’t function through the vpn. Even with TunnelBear vpn turned off, still won’t work and I have to manually close the TunnelBear application to get the site to work through WiFi. So, defeats the purpose of a vpn. Happens every other day or so to me on public or home WiFi and I can’t tell a pattern. Always with safari or iOS though since I’m always on an apple product.

Just leave it on all the time!. This app is almost 5-stars for its easy interface and fast speeds, I just wish that the VPN doesn’t turn off every now and then. There is no warning of the VPN turning off other than manually checking yourself. Defeats the purpose of having a VPN, especially if I’m paying the monthly subscription! Other than that, it’s not expensive, and when it is connected it is hardly noticeable, which is a positive! Just please look into my gripe!

So just *** Trusted Networks, I guess. Had a feature called Trusted Networks where you could add a Wi-Fi connection which TB would ignore. That was the theory, at least. The feature was replete with bugs. Numerous bug reports. Never got fixed. Assuming they couldn't get it figured out so they just ripped the feature out of the product. Not a good look. Not a wise decision by "leadership". Connections seem stable enough and glad they dropped India, but come on, guys. Get more experienced developers, fix the feature, and add it back.

Great app. I use the free subscription plan. I’m fine with it since I only connect to public WiFi once in a while. But you could give a little more if your using a free plan. I know the payed plans are affordable but I just don’t want to pay for privacy when I think you should have privacy at no cost. But you gotta make money somehow. Anyways, great app for the occasional use of the public WiFi at the coffee shop.

Best App VPN For Roblox!. I downloaded this app because it would help me with roblox About the troubles with display names I would like you to add a feature to the app where you have to play a mini game to get data it would be a fun app if you do that I don’t know how to get more data I don’t know what to do please tell me how I can get data ether I wait or do something thank you hope fully you understand!

Seems good app.. Seems good but not sure if they sell data to the bloggers like lifehackers who uses that data to send update deals on their websites. Though they wrote privacy policies no data sharing but who knows so removing app until they don’t tell in written that no data is given to any blogger or supporter. Mostly bloggers spread words for such services and in return they get users data to update deal etc on their blog pages, not sure if that is anonymous or open sharing but matter of concern of privacy.

I’m here for the bear. VPNs are boring. Just a basic utility that you need sometimes. But the branding and UI/UX of TunnelBear makes what would normally be a forgettable VPN app into my favorite app experience of all time. It works great, and the sound design and graphics are 10/10. Sometimes I turn it on, even when I don’t really need it, just to hear that satisfying “click” and “RAWR!” - please bring the sound effects to desktop :) Props to this awesome creative team, happy to stay subbed for my daily chuckle.

A great app overall - no question - but pesky connection issues for me, at least.... Re iPhone and iPad Pro: This is a a very fine app/service overall. But, I do think there is an issue with ***staying*** connected (24/7) without having to constantly re-check one’s connection status (and frequently reconnecting). I have tried the various tech assistance suggestions to no avail. I’m hoping an update will fix things. If so, I’ll bounce back in and give a 5-star rating. [I don’t do anything “different” connection-wise and I have “current” (only a generation behind) Apple devices - with all available updates.]

Travel Security. I am a traveling nurse practitioner so I’m from hotel to hotel and I never felt comfortable joining the free WiFi at hotels, until now. I use a tablet with a secure VPN for patients to keep their health information and personal identification confidential and now I have the same security for my personal computer. Now utilizing free WiFi is no longer a Worry!!! I finally feel secure that my personal and financial information cannot be obtained during my travels. Thank you Tunnel Bear for my peace of mind!!

Works great n is very easy!. I m of senior age n pension funds no COL so as with other retirees quite frugal n always asking if senior age is there a sr rate n sr annual? I m trying out the free version got from app store so ios version? Iphone 5s battery issues with ios 11.2.5 i have only one device... seems to add to ios iphone 5s battery issues....battery only lasts a day with this running So on ios phone... N what is difference with other 9.99 plan? So 4.99 or 9.99 monthly iphone 5s n would b 4,99 each ios device ie ipad?

Its okay, could be better. I switched to Tunnelbear after ProtonVPN's new awful update, which removed the ability to manually choose one of three regions and instead you had no choice but to go with the "fastest" (often American servers, which is concerning due to the amount of privacy violations and laws they can have) I switched to Tunnelbear since it was the opposite, it let you pick from basically anywhere, and i love it, but i have a few issues. The amount of time it takes for free data to refresh is a big one, but the subscription is a reasonable price (definitely not cheap, but ive seen far worse from significantly worse services. Im looking at you, Adobe.) The other issue is that it frequently disconnects, at first I thought it was a wifi issue but now, i dont think it is. It seems to be some sort of bug, but hopefully it can be fixed soon.

Frequent Drops & Frequent Inability to Connect. Cancelling my yearly subscription. A year ago, tunnel bear was great & worked well. Gradually, service has deteriorated. Slowing speeds. Frequently drops the connection and won't reconnect without rebooting the wifi or ipad. Lately, periodically refuses to work, requiring deletion & reinstallation of app. Moved to PIA VPN which has none of these problems + the speed is faster + allows me to choose which U.S. location to use and displays location speeds (which tunnelbear never did). My guess is tunnelbear's routing server (that determines which U.S. VPN location you will be at) is spazzing out. Maybe you guys should allow us to choose which U.S. location to run from like PIA does.

Best VPN For Consumers/Businesses. There are a lot of VPN’s out there but majority of them share and sell your information browsing information to third parties. I decided to utilize TunnelBear due to its stellar reputation and my geek friends which always believe in ‘trust but verify’. They are what brought me to TunnelBear having that they checked TunnelBear out fully. Read TunnelBears privacy policy (it’s easy and understandable, unlike the competitors) and TunnelBear does not collect nor share you information.

100% secure - owned by McAfee. I am extremely vigilant when it comes to the security of my information. I can’t believe that people use VPNs owned by foreign companies (I am feo the U.S.). Your information travels on their servers! I trust AT&T more than some foreign Govt. Tunnel Bear is owned by McAfee. The product is easy to use, 100% secure, and audits it’s security, with the audits published. I am a private business person. I was not paid and have no incentive whatsoever to write this review. The product received 5 stars from me. Each star is well deserved.

Updated info for renewal, VPN stopped working within minutes!. This is weird. So I updated my info since renewal on yearly Grizzly account is due in 2 weeks and shortly after updated info was provided it doesn’t work anymore?! No connection no matter what ?! Really?! I don’t see how this would be connected but it is strange that within minutes of updating info everything stops working! Renewal? I don’t think so!

A great service but not stable on iOS over wifi. I’ve been using TunnelBear for over 5 years and have found the service to be great, simple and fast! But there is one major problem. The iOS setting to connect automatically on wifi does not work. It will work for a day or two and then you’ll discover that your connected to wifi without TunnelBear 😣. Other than that it’s a perfect service and works seamlessly on a Mac. Please guys, would you get your paws to fix that one flaw? 🙏

Works great for us.... As advertised easy to try no cost version! Many “free” trials want your C.C. And are so limited it is not a trial. I tried a few & Tunnel Bear’s IP worked where other VPN’s IP were blocked by my finance app. We cruise by sailboat to some very remote international places that have IPs that are generally blocked by all our financial apps. Finance apps seem to get savvy and block suspect VPN IPs as well. Tunnel Bear just works all the time, I hope they can keep their IPs “clean” and unblocked! By the way I used Tunnel Bear to write this review since iTunes is blocked from our current location.

Beware free data limit!. It is a very good VPN until you reach the limit of free data. Then it asks you to upgrade and you lose all access to data until you do. I was not getting email for a couple of days until I deleted Tunnel Bear. On iPhone, you can’t turn off VPN in Settings while it’s trying to connect and it won’t connect until you upgrade. I don’t have any problem with people making money but it should turn itself off until you upgrade, instead of sitting there blocking your data. Thus the 3 star rating.

Great VPN that's simple to use. I've been using Tunnel Bear for over a year and never had any issues. It's simple to use and does what a VPN is supposed to do! I've used several other VPN (paid and free) and the free version of TB works just as well as the paid versions of others. However, the big downside is that if you're looking to do some major streaming you'll have to pay to upgrade because you only get 500mb for free (but can get an extra 1gb if you tweet about them).
