Good tool\ but still rough around the edges. Edited review from 2 to 3 stars. This is a raster based product, so don’t expect the crispness and retro-editability of other software like the Concepts app. Requires careful layer management in a photoshop style of working, which is complicated by the fact that the layers are designed to act like trace sheets. So if you hit the edge of the trace sheet your line might get pushed to a different layer. I’m cool with the trace sheets concept, it should really be an unlimited canvas though. Then again, big vector apps can get bogged down by large PDF’s and infinite canvases and this app wont. Once you get past the learning curve this app starts to shine. Still, while this app can be useful, it has some other quirks that I hope the developer polishes out. For example - the pen tool combined with the ruler is perfect for drafting crisp lines. But the eraser tool does not work with the ruler. So you can draw a straight line, but you can’t erase a straight line. I suppose you could use a stencil to get around this issue. Also, no ability to put in dimensions? This is the one missing feature that I am scratching my head over. Finally, avoid the undo button. It’s slow and buggy. Just use the eraser. Despite the issues, it’s very much worth learning.

Five stars means money. This is a favor I’m doing for this company, give them five stars. In truth it would be 3.5 instead of a 5. Why? The usability of the program is still a bit clunky. I must say however there is a massive potential waiting to be unleashed and if handled properly will give the established cad company a good run for their money. Speaking from an architectural point of view drawing objects like walls needs to be more streamlined with much less steps. What would be a big plus is if you could easily assign a dimension as you draw. Another great feature if they could get it to work would be to define an object and give the user the ability to stamp the object at will on the drawing. There is something presently, but it is a bit cumbersome to get to. On a whole this program is really not bad, I like it a lot and would encourage design aspirants to check it out for themselves. And by the way asking someone for a five star rating is unsavory and a bit distasteful in my book. Your rating should be organically derived on the basis of merit. Ok so maybe I could honestly give them a 4 instead of a 3.5. Apart from the versatility of the product the price / value ratio is extraordinary high. Go ahead and give them a shot. I’m already convinced.

Very poor customer service. The drawing portion of the app is good, no great. It is has its own particular limitations for architectural sketching and detailing, but so do the other sketch products out there. My issue is that there have been no visible improvements in several years and the customer service is non existent. Response to email sent though the app? Nothing. 4-5 messages sent to Morpholio and all have been ignored. The app can be buggy at times, and while this is rare, there is no recourse for solving tech issues. None. I’m a professional architect and I regret placing my trust in this platform. It’s won’t let you down all the time, but don’t think that it’s always going to function the way you need.

Yes! Almost…. I love this app! As an architectural designer I’m very familiar with the Sharpie on trace paper iterative process. And honestly, I find it terribly limiting. Sorry, boomer. Enter Morpholio Trace. It’s brilliant. An immediately available arsenal of hundreds of brush, pen and pencil styles/sizes in an infinite spectrum of colors, along with fill regions, scales, stencils and endless rolls of paper… again, brilliant. The one shortfall, and I think it’s a rather large one, is how Morpholio handles text annotations. First, the text controls are incredibly limited. Yes, we can control font type, size and color, but that’s about it. Additionally, each annotation consumes its own layer. If layers were infinite this wouldn’t be an insurmountable issue, but they’re not, they’re fairly limited. I’d like to see text applied over the top, but within any selected layer. Additionally, tools like bold, italics and underline as well as justification should be included, at a minimum. Leaders and boxes would be great, and the ability to save multiple preset text formats would be awesome. In all, this app is crazy good and I won’t hesitate for a moment to recommend it. That said, I am hopeful that its developers continue to identify its limitations and push its capabilities.

I'm beta testing the new Morpholio Trace. Im not a pro at it by any means but I gave it a five. It's a little complicated at first, in comparison to some others and I really don't recommend it for the iPhone because it is really a professional app that any designer could benefit from. There is a learning curve. There are more simple apps that are probably better for beginners. I give it five stars because it is great in the fact it is so clean in its ui and for the short time Ive been using it, I believe it is perfect for someone to hold their best work. I think it would be a wonderful add for someone that is a professional designer of any kind. It's has to be a little complicated in order for it to have the features that it is packed with. I think once I learn more, and can intuitively know all of the tools and changing them when I need to, I will pay for it with my design projects. So if you know Morpholio well, and have the app mastered, you will be just as happy with the up dated version. You have a lot to look forward to. I'm going to play more with this app. One thing I wish I knew how to send my stencils to creative cloud, or to render a Psd file. It probably is able to be done but I am a novice in that department. Such a beautiful app

I like it but please fix the toolbar!. I really do enjoy using Morpholio Trace, but the biggest issue I have with it so far is that the toolbar is very confusing and poorly organized. Some suggestions: - Please visually separate the three at the top (lineweight/dot-dash/color) from the pen palette options. Right now it just kinda bleeds into the next ones but I feel they are different enough to merit a separation. - The color option is kinda confusing also because if you have black selected as your color, it just looks like an empty box as it has a black background. - When selecting dot-dash and pens/markers buttons, the first option is actually IN the place of the main button, so when you click the main button twice, it automatically switches to the first option… does that make sense? It’s not a great design. Think about adding more separation horizontally to solve this problem. Otherwise, I’m having fun getting to know this program! Thanks! -B

Tools hard to use accurately. Interesting idea and examples look good, but tools are difficult to be accurate with, scale function is twitchy, drawing tools while them seem to be mimics of real tools do not perform like real markers (dry markers only are offered) , washes or pencils. The AR tool is still something I am trying to figure out what to use it on. The pen tools work well, except with very fine lines which make the line look sketchy not like a fine pen. If you want to perform a blended marker wash - the tool only seems to do dry markers. I work on large projects so the screen gets filled with the dense floor plan which by definition has a hard time making fine lines. So, I have to break the floor plan into sections to get enough resolution to use the tools as intended. If you work on different kinds of projects you Might not encounter the same issues. I encourage to look at the examples, they are all small projects.

Invaluable, simple but robust tool with support from real people. I own a design-build firm, so my team and I spend time both conceptualizing/developing designs as well as redlining plans. This app so quickly integrated itself as an essential tool for us. Marking up plans is easy, though we did have issues at first with the legibility of our markup upon export but just had to learn a few tricks. Equally as important, sketching over massing or just doodling is as simple or complex/refined as you want it to be. One of the most impressive things though is the customer support. I recently had a function I couldn’t get to work so I reached out. To my surprise a member of the team emailed me back shortly, conversed with me about the tool that had been removed, asked my opinion about reinstating it, and later even followed up just to let me know that an update was coming out that would restore what I was looking for. It was quite refreshing to talk to a member of the team who cared about the outcome instead of simply navigating some automated system of troubleshooting. Five stars guys, keep it up!

Great for work and for the kids. Have been using this for work as an architect but also now have been using it to do the at home learning with the kids pdf assignments. It has been really useful and easy for them to learn and use. Highly recommended. For architects it has everything you need to do markups and is especially useful on an iPad compatible with a pencil. The layers are great. The ability to export the trace overlays individually is useful, and now with remote work, even more so.

Most Productive Tool for Landscape Architects. This is by far the most productive tool for Landscape Architects I have to encounter. Here are some of the features I love. Within the app I can type in an address. It will take me to a map an I can began sketching a bubble diagram of my layout, and then go right into designing. I can import a construction document set and redline it on the fly much faster and more naturally like paper because I’m writing my redlines with an Apple Pencil. I also like that I can draw and sketch and because it has layers I can develop my plan quickly. It’s really a dream app! Thank You

Architect Approved and Recommended. As an architect, this is one of my favorite tools now. Granted, nothing will replace pen and paper but for what it is, it is the best tool ever to iterate designs. It has a small learning curve but overall a very very intuitive program to design with day to day, whether it be a small landscape project, or a large mixed use building, the possibilities are endless. Custom create stencils with a touch of a button, 1,2,3 point perspective tools that help incredibly, and allows for you to use a plethora of layers. The exported files are of beautiful quality and its just super helpful tool when dealing with clients, having discussions, and/or just for play.

Good app but only so far until you need more. I am an architect and have used the app daily for over a year. Obviously, if I have done so I enjoy the app and overall it is very useful. However, I have become less and less tolerable of all of its faults. As a raster based sketching app it lacks some basic features such as cropping/cutting/duplicating/moving portions of sheets. It is like real trace sketching but it should be even more like photoshop in my opinion. The biggest disappointment is the lack of development. Features have been requested for a long time and some have been “coming soon” for years. Also, support communication is three times what is typical. Last time I hand an inquiry during a time crunch it took them 15 days to respond, which in my opinion is unacceptable.

All-around great app for all types of illustration.. It is a jack of all trades and master of none, meaning that it does a number of things good but doesn’t have it spot on 100% for one in particular. It hasn’t had many updates in the last few years as compared to say, Procreate, but it does many things that Procreate doesn’t. Is it worth what they are charging? No, but with a few tweaks and updates plus some refining of what’s here it will be well worth the price they are asking.

Perfect app for Designers!!. I've used the app for the last 3 years and I can't say enough about it. I do all of our early concept sketching in the app and it is the best sketch app I have ever used. You can quickly iterate options and do it all while being in scale if you like. I can't stress how valuable the scale feature has been as it allows me to know I have real world proportions while not slowing up the sketching process. I start all of our projects in this app. I love it more and more and I can't recommend it enough!

It’s an ok app. First off, I am not an architect, but I work in the construction field and have to work with architects a lot. That being said, this app is definitely designed by architects. You can tell by the focus on the art rather than precision. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. If this app had the ability to draw lines from typed in lengths, snap dimensions and angles, it would be perfect. The sample plan is a fine example, there is no actionable info on the whole drawing, it covers the gap between client and construction plans, no dimensions or angles called out. I am still giving the app a better than average star count because it is a good app, just be aware that it is geared towards concept design more than anything that is accurate.

Awesome for helping client visualize woodworking projects. I am a cabinet maker / woodworker. My primary use of Trace is to snap an AR image at the customers house and then sketch onto the image the ideas we discussed. It helps me plan out the project and let’s them see exactly how the project will look in their space. It’s really great. The star I knocked off was because there are some quirky errors that can happen from time to time. I just experienced one such error that ruined my AR photo so I can not work on my project unless I return to the clients house to take the image again. There are also some issues with the app not properly displaying thumbnails of your projects so if you don’t remember to name them it might be hard to find what you’re looking for. ( this should be a 5 star app and with some refinement I am sure it will get there)

Incredibly powerful tool for design. I’m a 20+ year design professional and I recently decided to reevaluate my design apps to see if I could improve my digital workflow while doing planning and design work. I very quickly realized that this app would be my primary tool for design on my iPad. Very powerful, clearly designed by people who understand how designers think, and the instructional videos get you up to speed quickly. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that there is one particular function it needs for my workflow that would probably a simple addition. The good news is that it’s a small team and they’re actually pretty responsive with support and are open to update ideas, so hopefully soon enough it will be actually perfect for me!

Best design app EVER. As an old time designer in retirement, used to sketching ideas on flimsy paper, when I discovered this app I was stunned as to how easy it was to use and how incredible this app is. Until this app, it was very hard to be able to sketch over a pdf image and most of all it was almost impossible to do so to scale. I love using it and it’s been an incredible tool for personal projects as well as doing design sketches for friends looking to improve their homes or add to their vacation cottages! The BEST! Period!

I hoped for better... I’ll be cancelling. I think this app is way over rated. It’s really just a sketching app, nothing you can do any precision with, and Procreate is FAR BETTER to sketch with. Don’t expect any kind of precision measuring or drawing detail. Zooming in is terribly pixelated. The perspective tool is so frustrating due to lack of detail and raster images. Lines don’t snap so your perspective lines can be way off. With perspective turned on the apple pencil has serious parallax and lag. If zoomed in even a little the pencil won’t draw or draws on the wrong projection line while in perspective. This is completely unacceptable and makes the perspective function useless for anything other than very rough concept sketching. Procreate’s perspective is much better. Layers are really frustrating; you can’t merge layers or copy selections to new layers, if you want to draw on a lower layer you have to turn off the ones above rather than select the lower level. If you want a higher resolution zoomed in, you have to create a new layer; but then you can’t merge layers, so you end up with tons of layers.

Invaluable App. Im an architect who’s been using digital drawing /modeling tools for way too many years. I find Trace one of the most clever and useful programs (apps) I’ve ever used. The simple elegance with which Morpholio has recreated the intuitive and haptic experience of drawing is stunning. As someone who travels frequently the ability to draw to scale in a mode that echoes the free workflow of layering trace on trace has made my plane time my most valuable time. Ive been using Trace for a few years now so have Ive also seen how well tended the app has been. Improvement after improvement have made Trace even more useful and robust while not losing the simple elegance of the original. Trace is simply amazing. Ive tested many, many drawing apps available for Ipad and nothing comes close to Trace.

Pure Joy. This was my untold want...it was a joy to find trace. It is a joy to use. As a landscape designer I was craving a way to bring life to cad drawings as well as a way to quickly and elegantly propose concepts to clients using cad files. morholio trace does both. I just got it yesterday and already feel I can do the above. It is an intuitive and beautiful app. Cut and copy functions would be great..as some critiques have noted. Critiques wishing it were a vector graphic program are unclear on the concept. Note, really helpful to have as big a screen as possible, for me, it made springing for the 12.9” iPad Pro a no brainer.

Powerful Conceptualization App. Morpholio Trace is an amazing app that I’ve integrated into my everyday workflow. Being an architectural designer I am constantly asked to quickly produce visual ideas to help communicate ideas to clients and the pubic. Morpholio has allowed me to create repeatable styles, that in turn, has allow me to do even more professionally with the app. The power in it for me is the simple yet powerful tools and being able to easily switch between them, almost like using my analogy drawing tools. The Multi PDF importer is one of my favorite features, and being able to swap out individual background pages and update sketches is a huge time saver. In my opinion a lot of effort and thought has been given to how people think while using the app, it’s very intuitive. The subscription is also worth it in my option for all the features. Although I’m a millennial, I’ve had a lot of old school training in the architecture profession and Morpholio Trace allows me to think through that processes I’ve developed, while having the power of undo and digital sketching.

Lost work, non-responsive support. I downloaded the free version to see if it was worth buying. I started two different projects, putting in a few hours total. After noticing a recent app update, I went to check on my projects, and the pages are blank. The underlying original graphics are there, but all my work is gone. I notified Morpholio about this on March 18 (it’s now April 4). I received a pro forma email telling me to not delete the program, make sure iCloud storage is on (it has been and still is), and asked to make sure iOS is up to date (it is — I’m on an M1 iPad Pro as well). The said they’d contact me personally in 48 hours — it’s been 408 hours actually, with no response. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing the app. Hopefully my review will save others the frustration I have experienced.

I really want to like this app. This app looks really beautiful and has some great tools. I tried the free version to see if it would work to markup pdf drawings. I simply cannot import a pdf at a decent quality and it is definitely not anything I would want to share with a client. I have tried imported drawings printed at 1200 dpi. I don’t know if this is a limitation of the free version and if the paid versions import pdf drawing at full quality? Anyway, I was sad about trying this app as I was excited from the reviews and tutorials. Update: Although I cannot import PDF drawings at full quality, the drawing tools allow to quickly sketch floor plan layouts to scale. My favorite tool is turning on the ruler and having it on the side of the screen. I can quickly draw walls in ortho mode anywhere on screen, which works better than concepts and procreate drawing assist. I’m not entirely sold on the layer management.

Need to be able to scroll through pages. As an architect, I use the app all the time; multiple times daily. It’s generally great, but it does has one significant and highly annoying flaw. Morpholio will separate drawing sets into multiple individual sheets, requiring the user to close one drawing sheet to open another. The back-and-forth process has become so frustrating that I found myself searching for a replacement app today. Figured I should voice my complaint to the developers and give them a chance to correct the issue....or, if I am doing something wrong, please tell me. I can imagine two changes that would improve the product greatly: 1. The best solution I would imagine, would be to allow for multiple drawings to be open at one time on the tablet screen, the way I would lay out my sketches on an actual physical desktop, laying pieces of trace over each drawing, with the ability to transfer the trace and overlay onto other drawings. 2. Supply the option to create a continuous scrollable document that includes all sheets selected, similar to an Adobe PDF. Again, this is a very good app, but has some annoying limitations. My recommendation would be to survey architects and other designers who use your product to better understand how best to serve the design community....

Great sketching tool, still room for improvement. Being in the architecture industry, I started using this app after working from home. Overall, it is a great sketching tool, really enjoyed being able to sketch with ruler in scale. It saved lots of trace paper and ink :) On the other hand, there are some missing functions which really interrupts the work flow, especially when working with 10+ layers: 1. Merge layers. so easy to exceed max layer limit. 2. Copy content across layers 3. Work directly on the layer selected. It is huge time killer right now to either move the layer to the top, or turn off all layers above. 4. Assign color labels to the layers to help distinguish each layer. Right now the layer title does not help as it is not visible in the interface. Autodesk Sketch has this function. 5. When copying the content selected by lasso, the graphics gets blurry 6. The stencil is not as easy to use, especially for the furniture items. the lines are too thin, and the result is usually pixelated.

Good for me good for you. I was skeptical to be honest but I really needed an app/ program that could do if not all most and in this case about 85% which worked for me most of the app is skill based and imagination based how good you are to imagin the world and be on its on you skill base is using the tools and new innovative was to use a tool for one thing the to make something completely different . The only bad thing was using the 3D thing like the model the view with the 3 images in 3D , they did not have a 3D program or way of making a 3D model to then add so I had to opt out to us a third party which was lame and not compatible with trace , or it was super basic and I had to pay a rediculous amount for subscription so if they "trace" would have included this or added it with the premium version it would have been cool any ways great app thanx !

Best App for Architects. Wow.....It has been 2 years since I started using Morpholio Trace and I can’t believe I never shared a review! This app was created by architects looking for a natural way to use a tablet the same way we use tracing paper while sketching. Obviously, the physical differences between drawing on paper and glass are infinite but I think Morpholio Trace does an outstanding job on trying to replicate the way architects and designers communicate their ideas through sketching. Like any other app, at first, you need to figure out how it works, but once you get to it, the app becomes really simple to use. The use of layers like tracing paper and the capability to scale your sketches, makes Morpholio Trace a powerful tool for meetings with clients where you can make changes in real time. I know you cannot replace paper and pencil with a tablet and a stylus yet, but I think you can’t stop technology and Morpholio Trace makes the transition easier and more natural when it comes to sketching.

Morpholio Trace for Architecture, Just Do It!. I originally got the Morpholio App a couple years ago and just tinkered around with it, not giving it the proper learning time it required. Recently though, I had seen some work by an architect up in Maine that was using Morpholio for sketching and I got reinspired. I’ve now been using Morpholio now for about 4 or 5 months, and while I still have a lot to learn, it’s become an indispensable tool during my early design process. From very conceptual early design sketches to finished presentation quality elevations, we’re now using Morpholio on every project.

Highly Recommended!!!. 4.5 Stars - Very good, incredibly powerful and practical. Can make the lead portion of the design process very efficient. While the APP continues to improve (the AR additions with iPhone X are great!), there are still a few things that can be done. The file access between Trace in your phone and that on your iPad is not fully functional. How about taking a layer from one project and moving it over to another project? In spite of these comments, highly recommended for any Design Lead who is serious about making the creative process productive and effective!

I made the switch from decades of hand drawing to Morpholio Trace. A little over a year ago a landscape architect friend suggested I try Morpholio Trace. He knew I did only hand drawing and had expressed interest in ‘some day switching to digital if a program ever comes out that is as easy and natural as hand drawing’. I’ve drafted and sketched since in high school, decades ago, and just didn’t love the straight jacket that CAD or other programs put on the fluidity of the design process - especially for landscape architecture. If I was ever going to switch from hand drawing, the new way was going to have to just as easy, fun, inspiring, and precise, in order to entice me to devote the time and money to try it. The same day my friend suggested I look up Morpholio Trace I was sold, and so purchased an iPad Pro and iPencil and spent a couple of days diving in and testing in on one project design. From that moment I’ve never gone back to drawing or designing on paper, even to do site measures.

Love it- great for working at home. I originally got an iPad and stylus to improve my process working from home without a printer and scanner and this app has truly made all the difference. I can take a picture of my screen and start sketching over it and have a decent sketch showing my concept in less time than hand drawing. Plus who doesn’t like a 2-finger tap to undo?! :) It looks and feels very much like real drawing, even the marker “bleeds” into the “paper”. The stencils are also very fun, perhaps my favorite part. I love this app and wish I would have found it sooner!

Frustrating, not quite the pencil and scale ruler replacement. Been using this app for several months now. Although it’s great to sketch to scale that’s pretty much were it stops. it lacks many basic features, such as merging layers, copying between layers and files. Recently tried the new smart hatch tool for areas and the writes over every single layer rendering them useless. The hatches look cool but man they ruined my drawing. I now have to recreate an entire new drawing because of this and the inability to copy certain layers across into a new file. Honestly am quite disappointed. After much hype and fancy graphics this is still more of a beta, and very much frustrating. For its price, it is expensive. Come to think of it, from all the lack of basic features, and the very bad area fill pattern tool, it’s cost me a lot more in wasted time. Definitely not meant for schematic and professional presentation. Best to export a basic sketch into Adobe products.

Would love Trace w/ multiple pages. I enjoy Trace on my iPad Pro (w/ Apple Pencil) as well as other programs like Concepts, and AutoDesk’s SketchBook, but none support multiple pages. As an artist and product designer, I digitally sketch all the time and import photos, renderings, and maps, BUT having to create a new “Project” for every sketch is very cumbersome, time-consuming, and slows down my workflow. To me, a single sketch with layers isn’t a “Project.” A project typically has many “Pages” or “Drawings.” And while I use Morpholio Journal for day-to-day notes/sketching as well, it has very limited tools. Ideally, I’d like Trace and Journal combined, while still allowing both to act as their own stand-alone products. Imagine being able to flip through multiple pages in Trace, then be able to flatten and export the entire set of pages as a PDF to send to clients and consultants! It would REALLY be powerful. I’d use it all the time. Maybe one day. Until then, each sketch is considered a single “Project.”

The best drawing program for design professionals. As a landscape architect and planner, I’ve tried every drawing program for the iPad: procreate, sketchbook pro, concepts, adobe sketch, etc. all are good for artists but none of them duplicated the environment of drawing and sketching that architects, landscape architects, and planners need. Morpholio Trace is IT! Incredibly intuitive and all the right tools to create layers, scale, templates, import images and maps, render, create perspective sketches, it’s all there. This is currently the only program I use now to create plans and sketches for clients. Plus, these guys constantly innovate new tools and the support is phenomenal. As a design professional, I give Morpholio Trace my highest recommendation and I use it daily.

Good drafting app. Enjoying drawing in this app with the built-in scale tools. Animation artist designing my own house and just getting to know it for general drafting when not using procreate. I like that a year’s pro subscription was affordable. The version history update notes are identical and vague and with each update, I’m afraid I’ll lose the trick I figured out to copy/paste sections of drawings from one layer to another. If they “fix” that, I’m screwed. I use it constantly. Edit: Turns out I just discovered the new feature a few versions before it was advertised, so copy/paste is now a known advertised feature. Necessary and appreciated function.

Great app for concepts in the field!. No, it’s not “real” CAD: it’s raster based, for one thing. But then, this isn’t something I use for production. I create base plans with a laser and another iPad app, then import this as a base plan into Trace. From there, it’s like using trace paper: sketch out concepts, refine, illustrate, label and export. Plus there’s a nifty perspective drawing tool that you can use over a site photo. At the end, the client gets an annotated PDF file showing a concept, complete with annotations. Shortcomings: - The export function could use some form of layer sets to export plan and sketches without having to go back and turn off/on layers. - blending modes for imported images and paper styles, especially multiply with Kraft paper and grid textures - As far as I know, you can’t control page layout, and sometimes the app gets it wrong: vertical plan in horizontal layout with too much blank space on the page. There are workarounds, but it would be wonderful if these things were built-in. You can’t crop base images to control document aspect ratio or eliminate unwanted parts of a base plan, at least not in-app. Workaround: import pdf into page layout app and fix, so can’t do on iPad.

ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS MUST PURCHASE. Fourth year B.Arch student here. Downloaded to help expedite some early studio design drawings that I am sending back and forth to my professor over email for class. Hybrid learning due to COVID and access to physical studio isn’t reliable! AMAZING replication of hand drafting tools and it’s great to be able to have a thought and look at my design sketches anywhere! Smart organization filing systems to keep all the drawings for a project in one place. Trace layering while drawing mimics designing at a table with trace paper and I couldn’t be happier I had this app for this semester of design! THANK YOU!

Great app, especially for conceptual sketching. I’m still pretty new to this app, but it’s functionality is very user friendly and with the abundance of tutorials, I was able to pick it up pretty quickly. It’s been a time saver especially when putting together conceptual drawings for my landscape design clients. I had one frustrating issue that I couldn’t figure out so I contacted support, and instead of the 48 hour response window given, they got back to me within a few hours with the answer I needed. From what I can tell, they listen carefully to feedback/issues and make changes to the app as needed. I’m loving it so far and I’m glad that I was turned on to this app by another user.

Unparalleled tools, but... raster?. This is the only app to get anywhere near the experience of using a drawing compass. Their ellipse tool actually gives you a center point, and that is shockingly difficult to find in drawing apps! The perspective tools are fantastic as well. I’ve really enjoyed using this to draft geometry-based art. I’m less in love with the fact that it’s raster based. Make this thing vector, and it would really lock it in. At the least, it needs some kind of resolution management so if I want to make something printable, I can tell when things are the right size that it won’t come out pixilated.

Garbage.. I’m not an architect but I still wanted a simple app to help me plan a room in a small apartment. I thought this would let me rough sketch a scaled-down room, input measurements for furniture I own & find the most efficient layout. If this sounds familiar, move along. This horrid app is not user-friendly... unless you’re perhaps, a professional architect already familiar with similar programs. There are no instructions for use and no help tools. I tried to figure it out on my own. I used the ruler tool to draw a straight line (aka a wall), in trying to find out how to reposition the ruler to form a 90 degree corner, the ruler tool disappeared and tapping on the ruler tool button does not bring it back. The app developer should at least have included some sort of help section or include some sort of hint that this isn’t geared towards the average Jane/Joe just trying to map out a single room.

Cost. I’m an absolute novice when it comes to design. I am sure this app is great if that is your niche. All I want to do is have an app to easily draw possible renovations in my home. Sure I could take the time to learn the tools provided in the app. It might be just want I need. But in order to pay a monthly subscription to use all the features is greedy. For some it might be worth it. It’s not for me. Why not a flat fee up front? A pencil and paper would actually be cheaper and easier to use. An electronic app is nice if you don’t want to waste resources and storage space. I guess it would also help you better visualize a 3D environment.

Best app for Architects. I have been using Morpholio for two years and I must say it has certainly provided me with a platform to enhance my firms design process. I typically use the app during schematic design but I have increasingly been using it further down the line. For instance, it is great for marking up drawings for revisions or reviewing shop drawings and emailing them directly to the GC instead of scanning first. So so so so efficient! I would love to share a schematic sketch for our most recent project but I’m not sure I can do it here.

Why is this rental software?. This is a nice app, with nifty features that make it easy to generate professional architectural-style sketches. BUT... in order to access anything beyond the most basic features, Morpholio requires a monthly/yearly subscription. I don’t mind paying a one-time in-app fee for “pro” features, but subscription software smacks of pure greed. There are certain subscription-based services that make sense: streaming video, for instance, burdens the developer with ongoing costs, so it’s fair that users support that cost. But Morpholio isn’t offering anything in exchange for their subscription other than the right to use their standalone app. This isn’t a trend I want to encourage, so I won’t be using Trace.

A MUST for Landscape Architects. I am in the Landscape Architecture profession, and I must say: The more I use this app, the more I’m seeing its functionality and power. One of the foundational characteristics of our profession is hand-drawing, and this app definitely allows us to draw not just in a free-hand fashion, but also straight lines. It’s Ruler tool is superb, where you don’t have to just use it as a conventional ruler; instead, you can sit the ruler, say, in the corner of the iPad’s screen, and depending on how you toggle the features, you can draw straight lines anywhere on the canvas at 0, 90, 45, 30, and even 15-degree angles. This app is now becoming an integral part of my workflow, as I’m beginning to use it for not just marking up plans, but also to explore its use in the Site Analysis and Conceptual phases of the profession. I HIGHLY recommend this app to anyone who is in the design industry, as this definitely is of use for all who are in the Landscape Architecture and Architecture professions.

No better app on the market for Architectural workflows. I own a landscape design and archviz studio and we started using morpholio when we switched over from Microsoft’s Surface Pro to the iPad Pro for drawing/illustrating. We played around with several different apps until we landed on morpholio. Being able to produce scaled drawings on the go has been a huge game changer. We’ve become 100% paperless since and morpholio is a pillar for our workflow and collaboration with other companies/designers around the country all while maintaining the style we built on pen and paper. Love the app and highly recommend.

Great Product, Great Support. I use Morpholio Trace for archaeological illustration. This involves, for me, drawing with precision atypical objects that are often damaged. The ability to do precise scaling in millimeters is one of the most useful features of this product. I can easily proof the dimensions of my drawing against the object. Also, Trace, unlike Adobe Illustrator, isn’t a vector program so that the objects I draw do not have that computer-generated, super-smooth look. The line reflects the movement of the hand, bringing it closer in appearance to traditional archaeological illustrations. Until recently, archaeological illustrations were done my hand, first in pencil, then in ink, before they were scanned to a file at high resolution. Trace allows me to create a high resolution file immediately, especially when I use the 12.9” version.

Love it!!!. For the record, I’m a Landscape Architect and Planner. I’ve completely incorporated it into my daily workflow, now that working out of the office has become somewhat difficult (COVID-19). After this has come to pass, not sure I’d go back to actual trace and scales, unless necessary... that’s how well this works. Customer service (Joey) is outstanding! Assisted with a fairly significant issue within hours (I hadn’t updated my OS to the latest). Offered suggestions and they got back to immediately with dialog regarding it. Two items I’m hoping for improvement on: 1. Better ability for scaling PDF exports. The current scales are fairly limited. CS said they’re already working on this and to keep an eye out. 2. I’d like to see a pencil tool. It currently has technical pens, sharpies, markers, etc., even chalk... but having a drawing tool that reflects just a simple colored pencil, would be awesome. Other than those two items, it’s perfect IF you use it for the way it was intended.

Beyond my expectations!. Trace is an eye-opener and awesome performer! I downloaded on my iPhone just to give it a try so as to get the feel of the usefulness of this lean (and mean, in a good way) app. Was I ever amazed with its capabilities, it did all that I asked of it and did it in a field environment that was less than ideal. Trace just kept raising the bar for me as if to challenge me to do even more with it - and I did. I am now convinced that this nimble standout software can meet all my design and presentation requirements for my fast paced small projects - and best of all, it’s just FUN to use! So, get it, try it and you’ll be addicted to Morpholio’s Trace just like me - it works simply to impress and then some.

99% awesome. This is an app I didn’t know I needed. I work with a volunteer group for remodeling and updating buildings. One of the things we do is make sketches of the existing conditions. After much searching I decided on notability. However after accidentally running across this app, OMG it fits my workflow perfectly. Scaling, straight lines, layers, stencils, everything about this app is exactly what I needed. I do have one complaint, I hate to even mention it. It’s text… first of all each text is on its own layer which can add a lot of layers. Annoying, but I can kinda live with that. But when you insert text, then have to resize box to fit text. Then you have to accept text then try to move it, and resize it, which sometimes is very difficult. Edit/place/resize is different than rotate and move, so you have multiple steps to get it resized, rotated, and moved. Very time consuming….. If the text was improved, I would give this app a 20 star if I could. I did get the subscription, because all of the other features. Thanks for making a great app, and sorry I had to rant on the text feature…

Trace is indispensable in my estimating role. I love this app. I work as an estimator, and this app helps to mark up and communicate scope to subbies very easily. Even the architects are asking what is the app I am using as they are impressed by my work with the app.

Could not Cope with out it! THE BEST. As a full time design manager, and design director, this app is essential to my role; creativity and management wise it is essential!! Love the feeling to the features, and the scale functions! I struggle with the perspective tool, and could have better tutorials/explainations. Plus it could have better layers for image overlay tools (like their stencils) But it is a pure architect, engineering, interior decorator / interior architect tool! Love it - and amazing price. Must have for digital architecture design process. This is a great app which has it over any other iPad drawing app with scale tools and grids. It can easily become a complete paper replacement for the early sketching and design stages and makes layering and optioning really easy. It's still having some teething issues on usability but I've got faith that the team behind it will improve it immensely with time.

Excellent tool, great support!. A great tool for architectural design & drawing - the closest thing to using a natural pencil & tracing paper from producing rough sketches to finished presentations. Support was also immediate when I recently experienced size resolution issues migrating from my 2nd to 4th gen iPad. An upgrade to the very latest Trace version fixed the problem which means the Morpholio team are on top of things. Super happy!

Simply great. I have been frustrated with drawings apps for so long, not be able to trace and cut and paste. Morpholio has changed all that. I now use it daily including sketching but also issuing markups for site instructions. Cannot see myself ever not using it. Thanks Morpholio

The Best App for landscape designers. The app has been an absolute joy to use. Being a newbie to the whole world of digital drawing, the app has been so good to learn on. Each time I have used the app i learn something new. And even better, when the app gets an update it truly is an update. Great but there’s room for improvement. Just started using this app and it is great, but would love to be able to copy between layers, projects and merge layers. I can’t believe that these features aren’t standard already. I started a project with lots of layers and now it’s costing time as this clearly wasn’t the right process with the current limitations not realising and assuming I could do something as simple as copy between layers.

Excellent for Architects. This really is a great app and has helped our practice move right away from needing paper and toner cartridges. I have all my sketches and details with me all the time. However watch out for a few little bugs- lines disappearing and two finger pinch causing top sheet to rotate. Developer is generally quick to respond and always looking to improve, so I expect these minor bugs will be exterminated soon. And it’s price model is extremely fair- riffed to be accessible to a lot of people.

League of its own. Would be lost without it.. One of the best apps for a creative mind. Intuitive UI, lots for great features and doesn’t get in the way of productivity.

The app I’ve been waiting for. I am a commercial interior designer and Morpholio Trace has been a godsend. I do a lot of sketching but I hate wasting paper and using roll after roll of yellow trace. Morpholio has everything you need to produce a beautiful sketch. I especially love the ruler tools and the scale feature. I’ve gone from struggling to produce creative designs to producing half-a-dozen sketches a day.

WOW! This APP is great!. From the simplest sketch to quickly sell a concept on the fly to the most in-depth 3D walk-through design capability possible. With full tutorial step by step instructions & support for the complete novice to the most comprehensive tools available for the pro this APP has it all & still finds time to amazing. 5Stars. Simon

Fantastic Tool. Although this app is noted as an architectural app. I am a structural engineer and find this app indispensable for creating my initial concept designs. The app allows me to stack the architectural floor plans for multi story buildings and quickly check my structure through the tower by simply turning layers on and off. It is good to see the app is constantly evolving and the support is first class.

Revolutionised my methods. As a designer trained to draw landscape designs by hand this program is a game changer and so much fun to use.

The app I just had to have. This is the best app I’ve ever used for sketching plans, details and just getting ideas down on “paper”. Just like using yellow trace. The ability to set a and draw to scale means I can use a scale rule on my iPad. Awesome!

Complete Game changer!!. I run a design business and wanted something where i could simplify my sketching and move from paper to digital. since getting this app, i no longer have a paper folder system as i can manage all my plans within this app and i do twice as much sketching as i did before as its just so easy to do and access again at the click of a folder. The layering system for sketching makes looking at heaps of options an absolute breeze. Clients also love that you can sketch right in front of them, and then those sketches are ready to email back to yourself as soon as get home for filing. I had an issue where the folders didn’t open, so i got in touch with morpholio who responded the same day to say they would deal with it. I got multiple emails with progress updates and the issue was resolved via an update 2 days later. They also provided me with a work around to get the folders opening in the mean time. GET THIS APP!! It will change the way you work and the support is fantastic.

It gets better like my Tesla. Morpholio Trace is a boon to creatives wanting to quickly and graphically resolve concepts and commentaries. As an architect I appreciate its architects at the other end constantly making improvements. Just like my Tesla, when I get a new upgrade I excitedly try it out.

Loved at the start, can barely use now.. I used this a lot at the beginning, it’s great when you first start to use it with scale etc. But something ALL architects will no doubt need it for it cannot perform, I’m talking about exporting. I often will import a pdf plan, sketch over it and then export for a presentation, the exports are either insanely low quality or (if like me you use the roller brush tool to block out areas behind your sketch but above the original plan you’re sketching over) morpholio will export the pdf with border lines around all of the blocked out/masked areas. The program should take the pdf that as imported, take all the morpholio layers I have created and just flatten it all so it appears as it does on my screen when it’s exported. Can’t believe such a basic functionality is so poorly implemented.

Excellent. This app saves so much time in reviewing plans during the design development process of designing a building. Best app I have come across by far.

GREAT but..... This could be one of the best apps ever for anyone in architectural field. The interface and feel is simply awesome and with a bit of use becomes second nature. So intuitive its just like using real tracing paper but better. There is one MAJOR flaw. It will randomly dump all your work never to be seen again. They really have to fix this because at the moment what could be great is actually a liability.

Construction Manager. Quick, flexible only limited by imagination. The more I use it the better it works for me.

Good ideas, average execution. Overall the app is great and is an excellent tool but it could be so much better. There are a number of issues which really shouldn’t even be problems, such as: the selection tool lowers the resolution of the selected elements each time; the area tool very often misses the correct area it’s supposed to fill and there’s no way to adjust line weights with stencils (critical for drawing construction details). Additionally, the new plate has taken away features such as the ability to lock scaling of selections and to choose units for setting the scale (in metric, can only do metres; no option for millimetres anymore). Very frustrating.

Trace. Awesome app that I use every day in my role as a Landscape Architect/ Project Manager. Great for communicating design ideas or marking up changes on drawings.

I use Trace everyday. I use Trace everyday for my work. It is fantastic- was. It is getting buggier and buggier and there haven’t been any useful updates for a year. Are Morpholio at the limit of their coding abilities. Faults: Most of the time the lasso doesn’t turn on or erases the selection The lasso glitches lines it passes over Layers are unstable and deselect randomly There is no file name when working anywhere - you need to go back to the browser to see which file you’re working on An absence of any layer foldering or solo buttons make even simple image assembly difficult. I am an advanced and experienced user of Trace and am worried this landmark program is slipping.

Brilliant for architects. This an amazing app for architects. once you get use to the ecosystem and the way it works it’s really easy to use. The scale function is amazing!! I use this app on a daily basis. I’ve used this to draw 1:10 details and to drawing masterplans of city blocks, it works really well across all scales. My issues with the app are: 1) it’s not vector based. This makes it really hard to get the drawings to be beautiful when you need to rescale things. Other app have figured it out but this one seems to be taking its time.... 2)you can’t add sheets to PDF set If they resolved these two aspects I would easily give it 5 stars. In reality it’s not that big an issue having the drawings raster based, but it has caused issues when trying to present things to clients.

Great. I have found it has replaced pen and paper for my sketching work. I have used it with great success sketching at meetings with clients.

Top notch. Very impressed with this app

Disappointing. Pro subscription trial over 1 month generally disappointing. Buggy, lack of obvious features, options, I could go on and on. As an architect with over 10 years of Autodesk app experience I found Morpholio Trace to be severely lacking in the tools department, relying heavily on stamps. There are so many other flaws that I started sending to support that I realised I should rather just stop wasting my time and uninstall.

Graf design. Hi all I love this programme! Like having a drawing board in my pocket. Suits my methodology in designing concepts and have been able to draw plans and elevations within it too. Has been a great time saver but like all programmes there are always improvements one would like. If you haven’t tried it and you like using butter paper and hand drawing tools this might be for you. It isn’t hard to learn but I suggest you pay attention to which layer you are drawing in.

Best architectural app. My go to app, I can’t go into a client meeting now without my ipad pro , pencil and of course Trace .... it’s become a crucial part in my design process. Great app, great support. Well done, keep up the great work.

Struggles with large drawings. Fantastic app that I’ve been using in my landscape architecture studio for about 6 months in the pro version. However lately it is freezing and quitting randomly especially when large multi page PDFs are being sketched over. Seems to help to have no other apps working in the background. Hopefully the developers fix this issue. Otherwise 5 star.

Best design tool for Architects and designers.. If there is one reason why I would get another iPad Pro, is because of the trace app. I have been using it for the last 4 years now and it’s something I can’t do without. I take half the time in design and solving issues with clients then I would have without this app. Also like to thank the team and the developers - who have. Great support structure that respond to my needs when ever I have had an issue, so thank you. Great job to the trace team, well done and always looking forward to new functions that you guys keep adding.

Best Sketching and Drawing App. As an architect, who also loves doing some comics in my spare times, I have used Morpholio Trace app since 2018. It is the best app for me to do my work. The user friendly features and subsequent improvements allow me to work more efficiently with better outcome.

Just keeps getting better. I use trace on an everyday basis as an architect. It is a sensational app for iterative sketching. Very intuitive. Each new version has lots of new tools which increase its capabilities. Perspective grids and AR camera are very very cool. Feels like the developers spend a lot if time thinking about how to make the app do really powerful things but still keep it really simple to use.

Not reliable. I used it for work, taking photos and adding them to floor plans. kept crashing and at the end I couldn’t transport the drawing or images from this app. waste of time and money

I love this tool, but.... A lot of useful fonctions, especially the possibility to merge many documents while keeping the same scale. I totally love it, except for one function that I would like to be added: the ability to share a project between an iPad and an iPhone.

Great app!. I’ve been using this app for about a year and loving it! I’m an architect and I do all my sketching and annotations on this app.

The price is not. I used this app for about 10 minutes. The app didn’t allow me to use some tools to try. It seems good, but the cost... OMG, So expensive. I’m not an architector, but I like to use rulers for sketching. I don’t know why most of the app developers think that who has Apple products is rich!! I can’t buy this ever. unfortunately I have to delete this app, looking for another app.

Free Version is good. I’m the opposite of a power user, I just like sketching things with my Apple Pencil. Having a canvas that pans, zooms, has a couple pens works perfectly for me. I’m considering upgrading to the basic version in order to get the select tool, aside from that it’s way better than notes for basic drawings. - Very user friendly - Good free version

Free trial is a scam!. You are allowed 5 projects in basic trial mode. There are 4 projects that come preloaded, which count against your 5. So only 1 trial project which cannot be deleted. If an app developer cannot be honest, then see yah!

Over complicated and seriously lacking in basic functions. As a practising urban designer I purchased this the pro subscription version because of all its hype and supposed advanced features. Definitely lots of features, but unfortunately needlessly overcompensated and inefficient. There are so many better apps that produce the same results for a fraction of the price. I’m done with all subscription apps. So much greed and so little value.

Excellent business tool. You’re making a huge mistake if you were an architect and you were not using this app. It will really change the way you were. Massively beneficial

Trace Ignites creativity!. This app totally rekindled my love of drawing and drafting and the tools are intuitive. Almost immediately, because of their great tutorials, I was able to create professional and accurate drawings. It’s a well thought out app that can only get better!

App doesn’t warn me what would happen if I uninstalled it!! (And undo redo buttons stop working😡). (Scroll down for a very positive update!) ———Old comment (not that relevant anymore)———— Why didn’t the app warn me about what would happen if I uninstalled it!! It makes you signup for a account, my immediate assumption is it will backup my work. But noOo, only after I have worked for a good HOUR and had the undo redo buttons STOP working (especially when using the ruler), and I couldn’t find any help; that I uninstalled. Only to find out that it’s only on the Q&A PAGE where they mention that it saves locally🙄😡. ————Update—————— There team reached out to me and was able to formally apologize and respectfully compensate me for what had happened. Honestly haven’t seen such quick action and solutions quite like this (that’s a good thing for this company). Sure I lost my things but they even went as far as to add a variety of warnings to help others not have to deal with the same problem. And they are even considering some suggestions I have and may implement them into there app(I thing that really cool of them😎). All in all thing are really good, enjoying the app, and gave it that star rating bc I need to use it for a bit longer. Great app :)

Great App. Perfectly supports the architectural workflow. Very useful for conceptual sketches.

Overmarketed. In Apples desperation to cast the iPad Pro as a Very Good Pro Tool they have co-marketed this app and made it out to be a serious tool for serious architects. It can’t even import a drawing set, apply a scale, and take basic linear measurements at that scale, apart from manually reading off of a fake on screen version of a physical ruler. Totally ridiculous conceptually and practically. We were better off on PCs with AutoCAD in 1990 than we are today in terms of simple tools that actually do what they are MEANT for.

Essential.. Trace allows me to harness the tech and then forget about it — and just draw. The wide range of paper, pen, color and setup options is tremendously helpful, but the very best part is I can get into a drawing and just flow. That’s not always easy with digital tools. PDF markup, rulers to let me draw straight lines, and scalable output with title blocks and plenty of room for customization complete the package. I’ve tested a handful of iPad drawing packages and this is the one that makes me genuinely happy when I’m working with it. It feels like trace and pens once did. Thank you.

Absolutely Fantastic!!!. Morpholio has stream lined my rendering process. I was worried I wouldn’t be ever able to learn or use an app like this but I was completely wrong, it took me time to get used to but then I am a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to adopting things like this. I love hand drawing and with Morpholio I can still hand draw but with all the benefits that the app allows. It makes it easy to correct mistakes, keep track of all my ideas and it is easy to make revisions without having to start all over again. I thought I would hate drawing in my IPad but with Morpholio I look forward to it!

An Architects Tool. I’ve been using Trace for the past few months while starting up a small practice. It’s given me freedom to work anywhere with the iPad Pro booth on concept, visualization and clear concise communication with my clients.

Fantastic App. This is an outstanding app with many more features than you might think at first glance. For those who are rating low, I’d recommend you spend some time watching their YouTube tutorials first before giving a negative review. I use this app daily in my work for creating preliminary sketches, presentation perspective drawings, redlining PDF drawings, marking up sketches/drawings for collaborative design reviews with colleagues and even screen casting while teaching courses at the local polytechnic institute. Even as much as I use this tool, I still find new features that I didn’t know about which greatly improve my experience, and the developer continues to add new features that I didn’t even know I needed! As as another reviewer posted, you can make suggestions and the developer actually listens and implements them if possible. I pay for a Pro subscription and I have zero regrets as it has easily paid for itself many times over! Thank you to Morpholio for creating such a fantastic app.

Interior Designers Dream!. As an working Interior Design, this App is an integral part of my presentation/revision meetings. I don’t use paper any more!! I upload my Cad plans, and sketch away the adjustments, client changes, and make notes on site. I have the iPad Pro and it’s working great with Morpholio Trace. I want to get better at the perspective shots, and using a few more tools, but I will never go without this App. It sets me apart, and clients being part of the process. Thanks Morpholio!

SCAM. complete scams! I don’t know why these companies think it’s ok to keep milking consumers like this, not only is nearly every feature of this program blocked by pay walls, they want an annual subscription. Why do I have to keep paying yearly for a product! One time payment is fine. Please stop this subscription madness!

Perhaps I’m an idiot. I am not a novice when it comes to drawing/drafting programs. Neither am I an expert. I have used simple programs in my business for many years with good success. Morpholio’s advertised features were attractive to me so thought I’d give it a try on my IPad Pro. A program this difficult to grasp is not useful. After hours and hours of frustration I have given up.

They Listen!. So impressed with the team at Morpholio, they actually listened to me when I asked for a setting to allow for left handed controls. I’ve never in my life had such pleasant interactions and diligent feedback in response to a solution. Not enough. 30 years design build. Started using CAD on floppies. First impression, glorified doodle app. No CAD tools or controls, no draw line x long at x angle. The displayed advertising images present it as a technical drawing app. First impression is it has none of that and offers features I can have for free in other programs. Autodesk Sketchbook offers basically unlimited pens, colours, layers, perspective drawing, STRAIGHT LINES, without a fee (no I have no association with them).

My stencils are stuck. This is a fantastic app. I was having great fun right until my stencil got stuck in the upper right hand corner. Don't put the stencil there because you will never get it back. Will I pay for an app where I cannot rest any of my stencils. No I will not. Fix this issue immediately or give this app for free. Not worth paying for a glitch. Thanks!

Perfect Drawing App for designers. I've been using Trace for some time now and I can't say enough about it. Very useful tool with use of overlays and image import. The pen tools feel very natural, and you could swear you are using ink at times. I've tried many other drawing tools and for me this feels the most intuitive. Well worth the subscription.

Everything I hoped for and more.. This app exceeded my expectations by far. And now that they have added the ability to work with SketchUp models as well is fantastic. I love this app!

Awesome, but…. No courses or tutorials anywhere online. There are some broad view YouTube videos, but not enough info to actually get started using this properly, and no courses anywhere. Was excited to use, but unfortunately will have to cancel.

Laggy And Slow 10" iPad Pro. For $10.99 subscription based pricing I would expect and ongoing polished product. With only two trace layers down and a small-moderate amount of line work the app becomes buggy freezes and crashes. Will give concepts a try. would love a refund on this.

Horrendous. I couldn't even make an account. It was slow, laggy, and it would say, 'fail' after showing a loading screen for a few minutes. It didn't say why it was unsuccessful in making my account, it simply just refused to work. It wasted five minutes of my day trying and trying to create an account.

President, The Elegant Garden. Trace is helping me draw landscape plans on the iPad with ease. I’m trying to go paperless. Drawing the plan over a survey photo is convenient. The scaling tool is a game changer. Rendering the plan in my own distinct style is much easier than bringing out all my pencils and markers. I’ve just started and I’m hoping it will become second nature. I look forward to learning the AR to make helpful perspectives soon.

You have to pay to do anything. Just the first thing you see when opening the app is an ad to buy a subscription on it there was a chart guess what with “basic” (free) you get 5 projects and you have to pay if u want 20 but what if I wanted to do 24 then would I pay $20 a year!!! Just looking around I ran into ✨premium features✨not only that but it’s also very confusing and all the “examples” are 100% LIES and I should have to make an account with another password I’m going to forget unless I want to. Save you self the trouble and just don’t get this app!

The best by far from an architect perspective #1 program for iPad Pro. By far the best tool for any designer. I love it. I can be sketching traveling the world to my projects and send ideas along the way. Just like having my roll of trace with me all the time. Wish list: wish you could draw between layers more easily without having to reorganize layers. I.e. Move to top. Maybe there is a way but I don't know it. wish I could duplicate files. Wish it had a color wheel and more templates that auto scaled. Wish you could sketch in a 3D PDF. But in general fantastic.

Hate the V6 Update. I have been a loyal Trace user and subscriber for years! And I absolutely hate the new brushes! The Apple Pencil sensitivity is completely off. The nib sizes are nothing like before! I have active projects and sketch files that I can no longer recreate the same pencil strokes. Just looks awful. Please give us an option to use the old pen nibs. Also, the dashed line is totally hosed. Can’t even use dashed line options because the nibs scales are off. Just super bad. BTW we need more dash options and scale/size of dash. PLEASE! I’m using latest OS and Trace version on both an iPad Pro and iPad mini. Not happy with this release at all.

Enjoyable & Useful App. I very much enjoy this app. I use it for designing from scratch or over existing pdf drawings. It’s a great way to sketch various options for design. Simply sketch one version, add a layer and sketch another adoption. With some practice the sketches can be used not just for translating design within your design team but for client presentations as well. I use it often and enjoy it every time!

Couldn’t live without it. This App is a game changer! I have been using it for over 3 years and have been able to enhance my ability to completely work on my iPad. As an architect of the generation that always hand draws, I’m able to do amazing sketches and mark up drawings in a fraction of the time I used to do with actual trace paper (aka bumwad). the magic lasso is amazing and my favorite tool. coming back too!!!. I tried Morpholio a year or so ago and am now getting back to it. Great program for sketching anywhere. They have added a bunch of great tools and you can tell simply from the intelligent layout of it that they are not done by any means. This has more flexibility and sketchy-ness than other architectural apps I have tried. Good stuff --can't wait for more...and a bigger than Pro drawing surface.

Helpful support team. This app was very easy to familiarize with. The how to videos are great. The support staff responded quickly when I needed them & were very patient to re-explain when I didn’t understand the first time. Great app-even for the non-techy type, like myself.

Sketch is right, drafting it isn’t. I was a drafting pro for a couple of decades and now I was looking for software for a new home project. This would probably be a reasonable collaboration tool or great for working on top of pro drawings. For doing some serious precise vector not raster drawing I’d recommend looking for something else. Honestly I haven’t found anything close to the real deal without paying for real drafting software. In closing for the money involved this appears to have some great features, it’s just not what I’m looking for.

Subscription does not. Work with new iPad Pro. Confirm button at top right corner is not active within available screen area Ok, my mistake. New iPad Pro requires pressing the power button (on the edge of the iPad) to confirm App Store purchase, but the graphic icon looked like an on screen button that was partly above the screen edge. Apple tech support helped me understand what I was supposed to do—-but it puzzled them for a while too. I’m sorry for the first low rating. It was a moment of frustration. The new iPad is a stunning machine, but transitioning from a 6 year old iPad was way more work than I expected. As for Trace, I will need more time to assess its suitability for the work I do. That said I have no gripes at this point. I find it works as claimed. I had the free version on the old iPad but did not use it. It was akin to finger painting. The pencil is a world of difference.

An Architect’s Perspective. This app is fantastic. I use it extensively, for a wide variety of project scales. The interface is near perfect, the app runs without issue. I highly recommend it to any architect wanting to draw on a plane, in their living room, projected during a client meeting, or simply with the iPad on your lap kicking back in a chair. Mechanical drawing is freed up, and I for one am hooked.

Morpholio Trace. This app is absolutely amazing, especially for architects. It is intuitive, useful and FUN to use. The power tools (ruler, protractor & triangle) along with the Stencils makes this a unique app. The ability to have different opacities of trace is great too ! If you haven’t tried a digital sketch app, start with Morpholio Trace for sure ! I also use Morpholio Journal and Morpholio Board … can’t go wrong with any of these amazing apps !

Indispensable.. Morpholio Trace Pro, in combination with an iPad Pro, allows me the simplicity of developing new ideas with a roll of trace and the facility of being able to quickly share those ideas electronically with clients, contractors and consultants. The folks at Morpholio, however, haven’t rested on their laurels, and continue to develop Trace into a more powerful drawing platform by continuously adding new and innovative features. It’s one of the top indispensable apps on my iPad.

My pencils and sketch pad are in the drawer. I am a very untechnical person, and it has taken me awhile together semi fluid using this app, but any problems have been operator error. I am working on a large ranch, designing various gardens, field programs, animal structures, you name it. This is my go to tool and it makes everything easy to share, change, design on. Love it.

Fantastic App for an Architect. I have been using this app for about a month, which is about as long as I have my own office. This app is great. It really takes the power of iPad and Pencil and makes a tool that really is powerful and intuitive to use for marking up drawings and sketching out ideas. The big game changer is using PDFs with multiple sheets. Now every time I have a call or meeting I open the set in Trace and we make real time sketches, take notes and can send out a PDF of the set in seconds. With anything that is new and great this app will only get better as it grows. I have submitted a bunch of suggestions and hopefully they will get implemented. This really could be one of the few apps I will ever need to use. Thanks Morpholio!

The App of My Dreams!!. I’m a landscape architect and this app has changed my life! No more frustrations navigating between digital and analog drawing, diagramming, emailing, color correction, scanning, etc, etc., etc.. Everything I need is in the app for my design process. An absolute joy to use!

App crash. Recently I’ve been using this app as opposed to procreate for its tattoo design featuring but I’ve been having issues with it in the middle of my drawing the app crashes and pretty frustrating when I’m in the middle of tracing an outline and have to start over. Besides that I like the app an what it has to offer beside having to purchase the full add on.

Digital Tracing App for Designers. This is a fantastic app to replace the rolls of trace paper at my desk. I even use it in meeting with clients to discuss options for their projects. The updates have been very good. I am looking forward to getting better at using this tool as I learn to work with full features and become more practiced with the interface.

Powerful. Trace is a remarkable set of tools in a really small package. I’m an older architect, by no means facile with the current set of CAD-BIM tools, and I’m enjoying using this... although hardly to any high level. The tools take some work to figure out, and explanations of how to do so are not always clear. But, that probably helps internalize usage once you do figure it out. Trace is wonderful for conceptualization at scale.

great app, super support. have been using trace since jan 2018 on ipads, as building concept designers and planners totally inept at cad incl sketchup, this is the best tool we have found to give us ease of composing and configuring smaller parts of drawings, with sufficient accuracy on these components, to export into the 3 app we use most often in psd, indd and key, exporting individual layers is great, our production staff appreciates our trace assembled drawings and we can each do what we do best!! we have had our problems but all were resolved with the wonderfully responsive, esp fast, and polite, support

Great tool for architects. Great and intuitive tool to have. Definitely there is an area for improvement and it can get better and it will. I really appreciate that developers are asking users for suggestions. Customer service and support team is great. I had an issue with importing the 3D model and they got back to me within hours. Thank you and keep the great work.

Great Design Charette Tool. As an older architect in the digital world, this program is one of the best I’ve seen for flushing out design ideas with a group. It has also worked very well in web conferences at the early stages of design with Clients to mark things up and sketch on the fly.

Morpholio Trace. By far the most influential App I have used in a long time. It’s ease of integration into my work flow has been fluid and instrumental in achieving a higher level of productivity. Morpholio has brought me 360 degrees from my roots with yellow trace, but now amped up with an enhanced tool chest allowing me to do more than I ever could have previously achieved. If you’re not using Morpholio, you’re not performing to your highest levels. It’s a must have application.

LOVE IT. I love this application but not all is great. I am giving it 4 stars because I don’t find the videos necessarily helpful when I am trying to learn more about the software. I wish the developers would focus on developing user friendly training videos so the user can max out on the capabilities of the application and truly enjoy the experience.

This is a great asset as a designer. As a production and event designer I use this program daily. It is quick, easy to share designs from, intuitive, and I love that I can design with so many options. From professional to beginner this app is useful, fun, and provides great results.

New User—Already my favorite app!!. Closer to a 4.5 but, I won’t quibble…I have probably written 5 reviews since my first iPhone in 2007. However, as an architect and someone who grew up with LAYERS of trace, I LOVE this app. My two issues are that it does not utilize a Copy-Offset which would make measuring SOOO much easier. And let’s tighten the snap sensitivity. The snap to 0, 45, 90 degrees is a little loose. Otherwise, this is a great app!

One of the best investments made for my firm. I was very reluctant to move from trace paper to Morpholio. With remote workers, site visits, building documentation, and client meetings, Morpholio has changed the way I communicate with clients and staff. Specifically speed and reference as it is directly linked and saved on the server under the client project. It has made a world of difference with redlined sets, corrections, and notes. Great!

Game changer. My employees have been telling me for almost a year that I needed to get this program and start working with TRACE. It has been literally a game changer, allowing me to work faster, save costs on printing and scanning, and free up their time also. I have only been using it a few weeks and I can already see how it is going to change the way I work and allow me to do more in shorter time, especially once I start exploring some of the expanded functions in Pro. My Most Used App. This is my first app review, because I LOVE mTrace. I am an architect who travels a lot and using this app with the Apple Pencil on my iPad has been a game changer. I used the free version for several months and could have easily kept going with it. However, I decided to upgrade to the pro (paid) version b/c I enjoy the app so much and wanted to support the developers. One change I wish for: the ability to rotate trace layers without scaling. If these features were decoupled, the app would be perfect.

Love the 3d import, but crazy complicated to use precise measurements.. I use tons of other drawing apps (and have been for decades). They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Trace seems to be hamstrung on creating using dimensions. This seems so weird for an app like this. Why no easy way to create precisely in 2D especially when you can import LiDAR scans? It is also very difficult to adjust the pens/erasers in ways that are standard across most other apps - softness, precise size, paint fill, etc. how about simple shapes based on W x H? It seems almost designed to be intentionally frustrating…

Great Tool for Learning and Brainstorming. Fantastic and fun app. I can burn several hours just playing inside the app. Lots of great tools for people who are interested in floor plans. Also they have a great online and social presence. I am constantly learning née tricks, tips and methods for sketching. As a student just starting my arch tech degree, the work with the scale has been super helpful. This app is only going to continue to get better.

Morpholio is great for architecture and architecture students!. Morpholio is a great tool that I use in my professional practice. It’s an easy tool to quickly get your ideas drawn out but what makes it great are the tools within the app such as the measuring tools and many others.

Very useful, easy to use, and great customer service. I’ve been using Trace for a couple of years. As an architect, I love being able to do design sketches on my iPad Mini and save and export them. The customer service is excellent too - the best I’ve seen for an app. (I have no financial or other connection to Morpholio.)

Morpholio and the pencil. I used to sketch out things on pieces of paper to solve design problems, but one of the problems was not having the notes and sketches I made with me at all times. Since starting to use MoropholioTrace Pro, I find myself using paper less and less and getting more done because the iPad is usually with me and I can reference sketches and create new ones on the fly. There is still a lot I have to learn about using the app, but it is a real pleasure so far.

I love circle!!!!. I tried this app a few days ago was playing around till the circle proctor tool , it was exactly what I been looking for in a drawing tools over the years None of the apps could proved such simplicity, precise accuracy and easy to use in 2 Sec however I don’t know there a trial period for the app even with basic functions I Do love drawing circle with this app it’s help me to relax from over stressing

I have been looking for this for soooo long!!!. I never write reviews but I had to write this one. This is the app that comes closest to fulfilling the promise of the iPad for architects and designers. So simple and intuitive, so powerful, so good. Just the tools you need, with layers, SCALE (yes you can set a working scale to any drawing or sketch!) and full access to the cloud. Thanks for making my iPad great again.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have tried to contact customer service thru the app but no response. Things /features that should be easy step by step instructions are frustratingly not explained completely. There is no phone number to call for support. So if you get stuck you are S.O.L.! My question that no one ever responded to was , “how do I create my own stencils?” They act like it’s a simple thing to do, and it should be but it appears there is something missing on my PAID version. Lol. Also , I use this app on my iPad Pro but you can’t see your work on your iPhone!!!!! It’s like 2020 app should work seamlessly across devices.

A “must” for architects and designers. Started using the app recently, and got the subscription right away. This is a very useful tool for designers used to sketching with trace paper. And now available on the iPhone makes it a lot better. Thank you, Morpholio team...

First Rate!. Fantastic software. Enormous number of amazing features with simple, clear interface. Great for architecture, but works for all types of sketching & product design. Works great with Apple pencil. Truly the experience I wanted 8 years ago for digital sketching, finally it all works at a professional level. Just try it - protractor/ruler is quick and easy to use. Imports photos nicely and just all works. Bravo!

Exceeds My Expectations. This app truly amazes me. I’ve only poked around the edges and used it for minor miscellaneous drawings projects, but found it to be very good and really resembles drawing by hand. The drawings I created were architectural plans and details. You can draw as technical and accurate as drafting by hand. I highly recommend this app.

Would be better without subscription. Usually nowhere days, u cant use a app without a subscription. But this amazing app is just not worth with subscription. U see, games such a xplane just need to pay ones. And thats it, but when it come to mobile , u need to pay $1000 EVERY MONTH. Its not worth it ok. I just wonder why did this app got so many rewards when u have to pay $19 every month. Please, make the pro version cheaper at least.

Slick program. Love this app- use it frequently for conceptual and preliminary design. The only addition I think would be nice is to be able to insert a trace layer between other layers already developed- that way one could go back to work out design details then be able to finalize the presentation on the outer layer. Nice work!

Best design tool for me. As a non professional with a need to draw up woodworking plans and other projects Trace has allowed me to improve my drawings and plans 1000 percent The ability to start with a single element and then set the scale based on that first part of a plan makes for accuracy I was not able to achieve before. The saving from my greatly reduced waste and errors has more than paid for the annual pro subscription Pack full of many tools I continue to discover and master thanks to their continued supporting emails and training segments. Thanks and highly recommended.

Great Tracing app for all levels. This is a great app for lots of people like graphic designers, architects, draftsmen, sketchers ..etc. The amazing thing you’ll find its good for all levels from beginners to professionals and its very friendly to use. Low resolution pdf. This is a great program and I will give it five stars once they fix the issue of low resolution PDF imports. When I bring a PDF drawing in to start a project, the imported PDFs low resolutions with lines and text blurry. The Morpholio website says they are working on a fix. This is needed to produce hey quality presentation, in my case.

Perfect for my scope of work. This is a great tool that has been gaining relevance lately with my partners. I constantly develop conceptual designs and love the ability to modify and redesign as I am going back and forth with clients to ensure we all are on the same page. Will definitely recommend giving it a try!

Nudged tool. I really like morpholio I use it a lot and because I was looking for something that suited my needs I got it. It’s great but the once thing I wish it had was the nudged tool like the concepts app I’m sure the developer have seen it. I think for curves it would be even better without having to erase your curves That’s my only wish for them to added it.

Morpholio Trace Support. We are architects and mostly use Morpholio Trace for schematics and redlining. We had an issue where we had difficulty exporting and sent a request for help. This is a game changer.... As an architect, our office burns thru rolls and rolls of bumwad trace during the design of our projects. With the combination of the iPad Pro/pencil used with Morpholio Trace, our workflow has drastically begun to shift to design on the iPad....the quick ability to sketch/overlay/present is really useful. We look forward to using this in our firm, and are excited to see how Morpholio will continue to improve in the future!
