BrainHQ App Description & Overview

What is brainhq app? Train your brain with BrainHQ from Posit Science—the most rigorous program available for better brain health, and the only one backed by more than 100 scientific papers showing benefits - including the breakthrough NIH-funded ACTIVE study. Now with new features that contribute to your brain fitness success!

BrainHQ represents the culmination of 30 years of research in neuroscience and brain health. Top scientists from around the world helped to develop and test the BrainHQ exercises. The result: a training system that comprehensively improves brain performance, from the most basic elements of perception through the most complex elements of memory, attention, and cognitive function.

No other brain fitness program can match BrainHQ in scientific proof. More than 100 publications from independent, randomized controlled trials have shown that the exercises and assessments in BrainHQ drive real change. These changes include:
• cognitive improvements, such as better memory and faster processing speed
• real-world improvements, including safer driving and improved quality of life
• physical brain changes, like healthier white matter and more coordinated neurons.

All of this means that BrainHQ works—in laboratory studies, and in the lives of everyday people:

•"BrainHQ is a no-brainer must-have in my book…This training has expanded my visual, fine-tuned my audio and even my reflexes seem to be getting faster. BrainHQ is fun and gives me the challenges I need to keep my brain working out on a daily basis." - C. MacDonald

•"Only a few months into the BrainHQ exercises the difference is clear, this isn’t left to speculation, I saw drastic improvements…and my family has noticed a strong improvement." - A. Amitrano

And leading publications agree: “Our testers concluded that Posit's product—one of the few so far to undergo clinical trials and peer-reviewed research—had the firmest scientific grounding.” - Wall Street Journal

The BrainHQ app helps you set and achieve your brain training goals—so it not only works, it works for you.

Each exercise adapts to your performance and gets more challenging as your performance improves, just like a personal trainer for your brain.

The training is designed to fit into your life: train for just 5 minutes in your spare time, or do a complete workout in an hour.

Beware because you can’t talk with this company. Dr Bredesen recommended this for his patients. So I bought it. Can’t use in my iPad but can use in my phone. I need it on iPad so I can see it better. I’ve worked with Apple to resolve this but unable to do so. I’ve contacted BrainHQ with no help. Can’t talk to them apparently which is what I need to do. Hello I have some brain problems this is why I bought the app. I will be getting a refund since no one seems to care. I would prefer keeping this as Dr Bredesen’s recommends but I need help I’ve tried deleting off of my phone and put only on iPad no luck. I’ve paid and I can’t use it on my iPad Please help me

Truly Amazing Customer Service! :O. This product is fantastic and is the only ‘brain training’ application backed by science and has been used in the publishing of many different research papers showing benefits for a myriad of different kinds of people for example those with brain injuries. To top of their high quality product, their customer service is top class. I accidentally paid an extra $100 for an additional year of their premium subscription that I did not need, and customer service replied back to my inquiry within a day with extreme kindness and promptly refunded my purchase in full even though it was my mistake for forgetting to cancel before the automatic renewal. If you want a brain training product that you can trust more than any others to actually be effective in delivering on it’s promises and want to support a wonderfully ethical and caring company BrainHQ is the app for you!

Review if Brain hq. I, after doing a session until the end can actually sense the difference in my driving after after doing a brain session in Navigation. My driving became really good and cognitively very aware. I caught myself checking all mirrors, and driving much more consciously. Also, after other brain sessions I was able to adapt and adopt whatever the Brain hq session was about. For short term memory I was able to remember telephone numbers right after seeing the telephone numbers and was able to recall without any deterrence. I am going to subscribe soon. Everyone should do so. Sure helps me!!! Thank you and hope to get really good at the sessions.

Would like a lifetime subscription option please.. These trainings are pretty awesome and I know they are challenging me because I need the same type of motivation to do them as I do to attend a really hard Spin class or Pilates session. They are not easy!! I decided recently to do the first couple games and if I’ve had enough, to not continue with the full 1/2 hour training. That should get me to do more sessions. Also, my dog hates the hear-hear-hear ‘game’ but she just gets up and goes to another room so boing-on!! I’m in a driving study and that motivates me especially for the 2 weeks before. At the study the team tests me cognitively.. and I like to ‘perform’ well. That’s another motivator. Please offer a lifetime membership.

Games GREAT. App UI is atrocious. I’ve been participating in the games in this app for about a month. I find the games and the training quite useful and helpful. I also like the statistics that it provides based on my progress. But the app, though good in its ability to render games accurately, has little bugs all over the place that make it feel like it’s a half done product. Four instance, today is marked off as completed, and when I swiped backwards to see how I did last week, it changed the date to January 2012. That is obviously not last week. That is just one of many little things that make the app annoying. I will continue playing the games because I can put these little annoyances aside, however for a company to have an app that basic functionality does not work properly is ridiculous. If it can’t do it correctly, simply remove that feature from the app. Make it so that to see your progress you have to go to the website. I would much preferThe app to do what it does well and leave everything else off rather than having an app that does somethings really well and others ridiculously poorly.

Hard to use. Many of the challenges are good but there are some that just don’t work .. tracking the fish is impossible . When you tap on the fish you are following they occasionally react but generally don’t . I agree with the other reviewer. It’s not clear when you have completed a level and when and how you are supposed to move on to the next . I bought this for a year and it was quite expensive .. I would expect a much better program for my money .. it’s very helter skelter . But ... I will say again , not a bad start , many of the challenges are good .

Needs improvement. 1.- Please offer Live Activities widgets on the Lock Screen to encourage users to engage more. 2.- Please, please, please create a companion Apple Watch app that delivers BrainHQ content. I struggle with focus/attention issues and I feel like Apple Watch apps enable me to be engaged more. I find that I’m able to accomplish more. I imagine this would be a great way for users to learn more skills by having the skills available on the watch. 3.- Please create an Apple TV app so that users can access the content. it would really mean a lot if I could access content on devices that I use the most.

Anyone with a Brain needs this app. I don’t care how smart, fast thinking, accurate you think u are. We are all in decline and we can all be better. This app is the one with more science and studies supporting cognitive improvement in areas beyond just getting good at the computer screen test. The gains earned here translate into real and practical areas of our daily life.

An Unexpected Aid to New Life. After a stroke about a year and a half ago, I was introduced to BrainHQ. At the time it was a nuisance, one of many new things I started doing to accept what I felt was my responsibility for my life, including my wife, my family and my own future. I stuck with it over time and, today, while I claim no expertise in these matters, I feel I have benefitted significantly. Sadly, I know some folks who passed up BrainHQ and the subsequent onset of dementia has been marked and noticeable. I would recommend BrainHQ to anyone who experiences a stroke and recognizes I want to work my way—not back to the life I had (which may or may not be possible), but forward to a better life as I move from ER, Rehab and on through my recovery to the gift of the good future I have been given. There is no sensible way around the truth: The brain is like a super-dupper muscle that functions best with regular exercise and challenge. Either I engage in a disciplined, regular BrainHQ activity schedule or I accept the sure and certain consequence. It’s my life, my choice. And I strongly suggest that may be true for you also: It is your life, your choice. And I hope you choose wisely. Best wishes, Fran Buhler age 78 Tallahassee, Florida

Needs improvement and better customer service!. I’ve been using these programs since Posit Science launched the CD versions back in the Dark Ages. The iPad version is more convenient, but some of it is virtually unusable—esp the auditory exercises, which often are too garbled to be useful. Yes, even with headphones. And, no, additional “support”will not resolve these issues, only improving the app. Some exercises never have been very good, e.g. (1) the facial recognition and (2) the conversations among people sitting at a table supposedly talking about friends—both annoying and too inane to remember. These need redesign. That said, the exercises overall do make a difference, which is why I return to them every 3 years or so. Next time, though, I likely will try a different company unless these issues are resolved and the whole thing gets a refresh. Anyone who needs help is pretty much out of luck. Responses are canned and it doesn’t seem to matter if they fit the problem (as the developer response below makes clear). At this price, support should be much, much better. And, a picky point, they will send reminders but only using standard time, not Daylight Savings Time—really?!

My TBI's. I had three Traumatic Brain Injuries(TBI's) during my military career. Back then we called them confusions. I had two Grade 3(loss of consciousness for less than a minute) to close-in RPG strikes and one Grade 4(loss of consciousness greater than 1 minute) in a helicopter shoot-down. These didn't affect me very much and I attended and graduated from a Pyhsician Assistant college. However in 2008, I had a fourth TBI and lost both long and short-term memory. I had to give up medicine. This App although difficult to follow the first times of use, has made huge jumps in my memory capabilities. Be patient.

Not for everyone inclusively. I have encountered at least 3 of these activities that require you to “Listen carefully”. Well, those of us who are deaf and/or have moderate to severe and profound hearing losses can’t “Listen carefully”, especially to computerized voices. However, we do have a greater chance of loss of some cognitive functioning due to social isolation. It would be helpful to have a version that doesn’t include listening skills for people who can’t do those or an alternate choice when those types of activities are presented. I certainly wouldn’t use the subscription version due to not being able to fully utilize it.

Makes my brain & eyes wastage in shape. I love the challenge presented by most of the games. There are a couple that stress me out if I can’t win them each time they are the game of the day. I like the ability the change my focus when ever I want. I’ve played a few of my favorites to the end of the gold level. I went away for several months when challenged with home life. Today I’ve promised myself that I’d play at least every other day. The life projects still interfere some days. I told my ophthalmologist how much the program keeps my eyes strong.

Challenging but..... While I feel challenged with most of the daily HQ tests, at least 1 of 4 directions just aren’t clear. Most of my results fall within 65-80% of my age group so I’m not all that dense. Random answers are obviously going to give poor results so I hope the designers review such outliers and take it upon themselves to clarify the required answers for the particular quiz. Also, auditory challenges that entail silly, teenage-type conversations/interchanges I find so dumb I simply block them out no matter how hard I try to focus. I reported it but got an equally generic/canned response. Most people taking these brain challenging tests are way beyond teenage and pre-teen conversations and our brains have become more tuned to adult interchanges. Too much of that and most of us older quiz takers will simply drop the app.

Disappointing. I’m using the free version to try it out. I am disappointed in several of the exercises. The differentiating between colors is so subtle (and dependent on quality of the screen) that it is impossible to answer correctly. Some exercises flash so quickly that it gives me a headache and, even though I don’t answer any correctly, the flashing doesn’t slow down so that I can at least have a starting point to improve upon. I thought this was supposed to adapt to current abilities and then gradually increase complexity so one could improve rather than being stuck in failure mode.

It can be fun, but requires practice. I definitely need it!. I started this over a year ago, but I must admit, I’ve been slack and not consistent. I definitely enjoy it and feel like I’m treating myself when I brain train. However, so many other things have diverted my attention and I stopped altogether for several months. However, a close cousin just two years older than me was diagnosed with dementia. Upon visiting him already committed to a facility, I decided to get back with the program. I’m in!

Don't understand scoring. This is supposed to be the only app with proven effectiveness. I find it very frustrating to "do well". Could offer more encouragement! But my main problem with it is I just don't understand the scoring. The bar on the top shows explosions - why? Also that bar is distracting! And am I supposed to move on when the next level is unlocked, or only when I have achieved all the stars on the current level, or what???? I get very frustrated and put it away.

Fun and I guess it helps. I do this every morning as part of my warm up for the day. The game/exercises are fun and require your full attention; I can tell you from personal experience that you can’t do this while you’re eating breakfast. And, while I haven’t read the published scientific journal articles to see how firm the evidence is for each game, at least those articles are available. So there’s a good possibility that your brain really is getting sharper while you’re enjoying the games.

Great - but not if you are colorblind. Love this app. I can feel myself getting sharper mentally. My only complaint is that in several of the exercises, you are asked to differentiate between things quickly based on color. An example is which of the birds in the flock is different and where was it In the sky? The developers use very subtle differences in colors that anyone with Red Green Colorblindness will have trouble seeing. I cringe when I get to these exercises because they are basically impossible to complete.

Good software needs hardware calibration. The software is fantastic scientifically. However the software team needs to improve calibration for hardware that cannot keep up as the speed increases. When the visual or especially audio effects get faster (to below the 100ms range) the visuals and sounds get noticeably randomly clipped. Especially if I’m reacting quickly and not giving the phone time to process the next batch and catch up. This makes it impossible to read my true ability because the app is not outputting a true full signal. It is faulty for people who operate at the high end of human ability like myself. This isn’t a problem I would imagine for a plus one sigma deviation of the population and below. But for the small minority of us at two or three sigma plus who want to have an accurate assessment it is annoying. Graphics and a fancy interface are popular but they sacrifice too much processing capacity. I would suggest at faster speeds (sub 100ms) to cut graphics more and allow time for the next module to load before executing it on the standard predetermined GUI time table. If I have a 32ms ability (so far) I expect this app to keep up.

Doesn’t appear to support Bluetooth audio.. I think this is a pretty good app, but I’m not sure of its worth. I’ve only used it for 3 weeks, but a couple of of gripes. If you just follow the course, Brain EQ makes you play the same game multiple times ‘for practice’. For me it gets a little boring. I guess I could deviate some. For some reason the audio doesn’t play via Bluetooth. Am I missing something? It plays all my other apps through the headphones. This would be nice if I wanted more privacy.

No fun, no help, impossible to cancel. This app becomes tiresome after a short while. Other logic games are much more helpful and much cheaper. What is most difficult is trying to get the maker’s help in trying to cancel a subscription. I was very disappointed in them and the repetition of their games and lack of challenge and variety after a certain point. Not enough customer input was allowed. They lock you into a contract with no easy way to cancel and hasn’t upgraded to the latest release. I feel ripped off, and I want out. They maintain I’m on the hook till 8/18. Apple needs to help. Catherine S. Payne, now using my third iPad with ios 11.2

Worth the time and money. This is an updated review from my earlier 3 Star one. Great idea, with good data behind it - tons of interesting research available through the app. Wide variety of exercises. Instructions have improved a lot though there may still be new user frustration- eg if you get the right answer but BHQ determines you were too slow, it’s the wrong answer. Response times to user questions also have improved though I really haven’t had any issues recently. Most mental challenges are still pretty easy for me at 70 and this is NOT - which is exactly what I wanted.

What’s it with the arrows in an out (short term memory) game?. I have no idea how to do the arrows in and out game. Somethings wrong I’m doing well on ALL the other games but this one doesn’t make sense to me. Perhaps they’re supposed to be LIT up (and you try to remember which ones were lit in the previous sequence). But mine are NOT, in fact they look exactly the same every time they’re on the screen. So somethings wrong. Any ideas? Because if if this type of presentation is going to continue I’m will drop out. Others games I’m doing fine. Why is it not working for me? And why is it the only game that’s not working for me? I’d really like a an answer to my question.

It Helps and is fun. I’ve been using this program as part of my brain therapy for over a year. Although, I still have a long ways to go towards improving my memory and other critical brain functions I lost while in the service. It’s hard work but worth the effort of getting better versus daily frustrations. Frustrations such as inability to follow conversations, forgetting faces, names, things to and other critical daily functions. I had to combine another program to help with also improving other parts of my brains. But Brain fitness is well worth the time.

Fun app, but horrible to navigate. I came across this app after reading a news article that said it’s one of the few brain apps that research has shown to be effective for its intended purpose. Different games within the app are fun to play and after limited use I believe they do improve my mental skills. In that regard I’d rate the app five stars. However, I rate it one star due to the frustrations involved with navigating through the different training sessions and getting the app to work like it should. One shouldn’t need to call an app’s tech support to get the audio to work on an iPad. Also very irritating is the subscription box that often continuously pops up and won’t go away when I try to launch a new game. Seems like the developers of this app got the hard part right by developing games that are entertaining and effective, but failed on the easy part of developing a user interface that facilitates easy navigation through the app. At times I wonder if this was done intentionally by thinking users might pay for the subscription in hopes that the user interface problems will go away under the paid subscription mode. Unfortunately I like the app enough that I’ll likely test this theory.

Face2Face needs some work. I’ve been using this for a while in the mornings to help with my cognitive flexibility, however I have a recommendation to make for the programmers for the Face 2 Face game: there’s really no reason every person we “meet” should be a white man. A) There are simply more people in the world than that. B) I know many people with racial bias actively struggle with discerning between multiple Black individuals, multiple Asian individuals, etc. This type of game has the potential with helping people with their subconscious bias by forcing them to recognize people and remember things about them, but instead it is only used to help reinforce that white men are the standard. C) Most of the people I interact with are not white men (I am very much not alone in this experience) and this is simply not as helpful of a training by limiting the subject pool in this way. D) It’s also just kind of unpleasant to feel forgotten and unrepresented by the app developers. It feels as though women and people who are not men of any race, and men who are not white were not on your mind at all when generating this program. That realization definitely soured my otherwise favorable experience. If y’all get the chance to rework that section I think it could be beneficial, both in terms of inclusion and in practice for collective brain development and societal improvement.

Enunciation Problem. So far, I have been using the games daily and am finding that some of the syllable and pronunciation games to be terrible. One woman’s voice I can barely understand because it is difficult to decipher which word she is saying. Another I just played was just as bad. The words come quicker and the first letter of like words is omitted so all you hear is the second and third letters of the word, which are identical. I wind up getting everything wrong even when using earphones when the game speeds up. Maybe it will get better once I am used to playing them, but right now I am having real difficulty with the speakers’ enunciation, not to mention some of the words themselves being used.

Needs better performance for auditory training. On my iPad Air 5 and iPhone 12 pro, the audio/video component stutters, making those audio training tasks harder, and some like Rhythm Recall impossible. I need auditory help, so this is frustrating. Video-only tasks are OK, but the performance makes me wonder if the games get unintentionally too hard to train on. I think performance needs to be improved before I can take the iOS versions seriously.

I have a PhD in psychology and this is the best brain training app on the market!. I’ve tried most of the others, but this is the best. Here are my reasons: • It’s really based on science. They have the research to prove it. • Mike Merzenich is one of the top brain scientists in the country. This is based on his work. • It addresses a wide range of brain functioning, again consistent with the research. • Even though it’s fun, it addresses real life issues, like reaction time and peripheral vision. • Results are demonstrable: I had some peripheral vision loss which has been partially restored due to my use of this app, in my opinion. And I have years of data to prove it.

I have Alzheimer’s!. I have Alzheimer’s, it killed both my dad an my mother! Now it is my turn! I constantly look for things to slow down the progression. I love my life, wife, family, kids, grand kids & great grandkids! Daily Spark has helped me greatly to slow things down. I am a disabled combat veteran from Vietnam. My insurance changed and they will not longer pay for it. These very smart and kind folks give me one puzzle everyday free! I am so very grateful for it! These exercises are much more than a game! They actually help our minds to learn and develop new skill sets! These programs are so much more than just a game! They improve how our brain functions! It is a wonderful program and it really helps keep our minds learning and growing! Thank you so very, very, much!

Super way to upgrade yourself!. This training program is not for a sissy! It is for someone who seriously want to keep his/her brain upgrading. There are so many distractions and opportunities to dumb-down ourselves on a daily basis. Downgrading our thinking abilities is a direct result of living in our media-mucked world today. This remarkable app allows us to reset and improve. Thanks so much, Posit Science team! I am humbled three times a week, but I keep improving...if only a bit! It's in the right direction.

Negative 1 Star. If you have version 6 of brain HQ I do not recommend upgrading to version 7. I was a paid subscriber and unfortunately I upgraded my version of the Brain HQ app via the app store for their so called bug fixes. I am now with version 7, unable to downgrade, and unable to access the original better versions of Audiory Ace, Card Shark and other games. It’s been now over a month I’ve submitted multiple tickets to the team and never have been given a response as to how to fix this. I’ve also noticed that when you go to select a game the developers now added a completely useless / unproductive 2 to 3 second animation. I’ve also noticed that after you complete a level the developers added a significantly longer animation that shows your result. This all causes more time on the app with less levels being played. I’ve also noticed that when setting a weekly goal the new maximum is 3 times lower than then previous. So I am assuming the developers don’t want you to have high goals. The developers have also gotten rid of the Brain HQ widget that helps to track your progress. This app is now becoming annoying frustrating and unproductive and defeating its own purpose. Version 6 of Brain HQ was a good app with no bugs. Now version 7 is behaving like a -1 star app. Since these issues haven't gotten resolved I’ve received a refund for the rest of my subscription but would rather just have version 6 back.

Love the app-don't give up if you are frustrated!!!. I am a 66 year old female who didn't start using a computer until a little over 20 years ago. I got my first cell phone around that same time, as well. In other words, I did not grow up with the ability to use a computer and/or smart phone hard wired into my brain in the ways that younger people have. That said, I am able to navigate the app quite easily. And, after initial frustrations with customer service, I have since found them to be extraordinarily helpful. Moreover, I love perusing the website, when I have time, and find this helps me mentally organize my understanding of how all the pieces fit together. One thing I particularly like about the website is how it shows me where my deficits are and which exercise to focus upon in order to improve.

Can be a source of frustration. This program is supported by research and recommended to me by my doctors to help my cognition. I have found it both tedious and frustrating. I try to approach it like taking medicine, but I still find myself giving up after a very short time. While I enjoyed Lumosity, I dread this. It would be more engaging if it started more at my level and increased difficulty gradually according to my improvements. I made the mistake of paying a year subscription and recently discovered it had renewed for another year.😩

Meh!. I have not purchased the subscription. That said, the free version exposes too little of BrainHQ’s available functionality for me to take a chance on putting money on the table. I’ll probably go with a competitor. A major flaw with the free version, there is no feedback as to how well you did, other than you passed. The second major flaw, you seem to always pass. I wonder if you purposely tried to fail if you’d still pass. I questioned support about this and they basically said, “we don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings!” What the hell, are we in second grade here?

Problems with Reminders. There are problems with the Reminders in BrainHQ. I get reminders around the clock every day. When BrainHQ sends me a reminder, it sends 2,3, or 4 reminders at once. I asked BrainHQ for help. Their scheduling for my reminders also failed. Now I get reminders in my email, although I chose reminders by text. The trainings and app are great, but the problems with the reminders causes interruptions my sleeping and lowers my motivation to use the app. This should be an easy fix. but Brain HQ needs to handle what appe

Too inconsistent. Not optimistic about app improving.. Update: They have updated some exercises now, and the website UI was updated (hopefully soon the app UI). So I upped to 3 stars. You can at least test it a little yourself. I wish they had some sort of full 3-day or 7-day trial, as the Spark is lacking. I’m a paid subscriber and have (tried) using this for months. Each day, it gives me 4 different exercises to do. This should be a well-oiled machine, considering the company has been doing this for ten years, but it’s not. Some exercises, especially the audio ones, are horrible. What really makes this a 1-star app to me is that I don’t foresee the app improving anytime soon. If you write to Customer Service they are polite and fast. But nothing changes. No new exercises come. Old ones are neither improved or retired (like if they are lame). I can’t justify recommending this app to anyone, as it would enable the company’s poor behavior. I’ve written to Customer Service several times, but again I’ve never seen a single change in the app since I started. Hence this public review.

BEST BRAIN GAME EVER. This brain game is the best brain game I have ever seen! The way it works how it starts off slow sees your skill level and slowly gradually builds up WHILE IT BUILDS YOU UP TOO! It’s just simply and purely amazing I can already tell that this game is gonna help me a TON! I have recently gotten multiple traumatic brain injuries and have really been on a decline mentally, But this game I think and can already tell is gonna build me up BIG TIME! Thank you so much for making this game to help out everyone that uses it! And thank you so much for making it free! I can’t pay for anything currently given I am 16 and don’t have a job, but this app will allow me to build up my cognitive skills and be able to get a job! Thank you so so so so sooooooo so much! I really appreciate this! This is just so amazing! Thank you! I love it! And I love you! ❤️💞💗💖💕❤️💝❤️💕💖💗💞❤️

WONDERFUL PRODUCT. I’ve been diagnosed with MCI, Mild Cognitive Empowerment, and through a program at Emory called Cognitive Empowerment Program which is like no other program for MCI in the nation, I was introduced to Brain HQ. Apparently Emory did a study and determined that this was an effective program and could be beneficial for those with MCI. The program starts out slow and then picks up speed. One looks at two different cars and a highway sign. These items are flashed on the screen and then you select which car and the location of the sign. Sound easy, nope, not for someone with MCI. One is being challenged with peripheral vision, short term memory going to long term memory. There are so many other different exercises which are so very challenging to memory. Items such as several sea birds, one of which has a slightly different wing and after seeing all the birds briefly and then attempt to remember the location of that bird which was among all the others.. Very tough to do. It’s taken me a while typing this as I struggle to find the right words. I still have very limited driving privileges and I’ve noticed I’m more aware of objects in my peripheral vision. Brain HQ in my opinion helps me to be more aware of my surroundings but as good as the program is, it will never cure MCI but it will help me to be more aware which hopefully will help me to more independent.

False advertising. Although it seems possible that the app will do what it claims for my brain, it certainly does not follow through on its claims. It offers “Daily Spark - a free daily exercise for your mind”. I got 3 of those limited exercises on days that were separated by months, not even enough to assess whether it would be worth paying for the app. But now everyday that I try to get my free exercise, I get the following message: “Subscribe to unlock! You have completed your free daily exercise. Come back tomorrow to get your free daily exercise or subscribe to access more training now!” So I don’t get a free daily exercise and when try again a few days to weeks later and I get the same message. Don’t bother trying this app. You won’t get what the developers promise.

Exercises good, user-interface terrible…. … I paid for a full year as a neurologist suggested it, had it one year before, but will try hard after 2023 to find something else. The exercises are challenging and I really like that BUT it is one of the most unintuitive apps I’ve ever run across! And that has not changed in 3 years though many people have the same comments in these reviews! None of how all the options work, or why you’d choose one over another, is explained clearly. The FAQs say the stars indicate how well you’re doing compared to others. But what others? There is no data provided on how many “others” are currently training using the app! And who are the others? Everyone? Or just those in my age range (which IS the comparison to make). How does it change the Virtual Trainer exercises steered to you if you change your “Focus” selection?- not explained! At the beginning of each game, the slider across the top moves around, numbers and stats display, none of which is explained. Too many examples all throughout the app like this to even take time here to mention. No excuse for this.

BrainHQ. I enjoy these games in spite of their challenges to me. I sometimes get frustrated by them but then feel elated when I come back at another time and easily handle the challenge. I’m growing, improving and strengthening my brain power, wow 😲... Update: they say that all these games do, really, is to allow you to improve at the games you play, nothing else. I get all that, but would counter that my walking three times a week does make me a better walker, able to increase the miles I walk over time. But, walking has so many side benefits that I don’t even want to list them all. Playing these games has similar side effects I feel. Yes, I get better at playing them and that feels good. But there are also many side benefits that aren’t readily apparent. Thanks

Repetitive. Hi should say that I am not paying for this. I am using the free version which gives you one exercise a day. I am surprised at how often they make me do the same exercise. And some of the exercises I don’t want to get better at like noticing everything really quick I already do that, so they don’t seem to gear the exercises to what I am bad at. Also, the exercise where you have to match up shapes and say whether they are the same or different has images flashing really really quickly. I have a neurological problem with lights flashing at me really quickly so it is very uncomfortable and I think it might be not a good idea for me to do

Awesome Program!. I’ve been reading Dr Merzenich’s SOFT-WIRED book & came across this in one of the chapters & knew I had to get it. At 68, still in the workforce with 30-& 40-somethings I know I have to be as sharp as I can be to stay in it. I was hooked on the free trial in 1 hour & took the leap for a subscription immediately. I get on it every night for 1 hour & I’m amazed at where I am vs where I think I am! This will definitely help me stay sharp not only in my work but in life issues too. Love it! Get it if you’re on the fence. You will be very thankful you did.

Quality app that could use some finesse. I’ve had BrainHQ for over a year now and while I love the easy access to scientifically backed ways to keep my brain sharp, I wish the user experience was a little better. When I’m using the app, the stars and points are meaningless to me and don’t provide much motivation. (Compared to DuoLingo—which has a very intuitive format to demonstrate progress through lessons) I wish I could customize the text reminders, the automated ones just get filtered out by my neurodivergent brain. (No need to get as sassy as that Duo owl though) Idk what happened to my original review from awhile ago, but I appreciated the prompt response from the BrainHQ team re: the lack of diversity in the facial recognition challenges. I’d love to know if updated images are coming soon, I’d like to be adept at recognizing people of all races, not just the white people currently featured.

Very engaging. This is one of the few brain training apps that actually has been scientifically tested. It does a good job of adjusting the difficulty level so that it’s intense but not crazy frustrating and there’s a huge variety of games. I keep this app on my main screen so that when I’m bored, I open this one first. FYI, if the price is too high for you, check to see if your local library provides free access.

Amazing program but I find it punitive. When you get something right, it advances. When you get something wrong it takes more points away than when you get something right. Twice I have complained to them that right and wrong answers should be weighted the same. They say they will pass the comment on to the developers. This is why i think it is punitive. They are very creative at changing things so it remains challenging and when I am having trouble with an exercise they slow things down until i can get it. That I appreciate. One new exercise was impossible for me and I called them and they explained that the difference was in the tail feathers of the bird I was to identify from a similar group if birds. This was not apparent to me until they pointed it out. Still difficult to spot but now I had a chance. I have to say they are very responsive to any call or email for help. The exercises are interesting.

Awaken my brain. I have to contend with multiple issues with my brain function, I had given up on getting better brain function then I herd Dr on PBS and BrainHQ. I have seen results even though I can’t do as many of the little games as I want because of my brains physically gives out. I am seeing my ability to read longer and hold thoughts longer. I can follow directions and take actions on a timely basis. This program has made me work at getting better because I see the progress I have made and the coaching from the sites staff encouraged me not to give even when I can only do a little. Thank you Alinda

Great app. When I first used this app which is daily I felt like I needed a nap afterward. At 77 I have been using brain apps for over a year and a half and still use several every morning. I started this one a couple months ago after reading that Tom Brady uses it daily. I do the sports program and I think it is awesome. Frustrating yes, challenging yes, but certainly effective. If it helps Tom Brady it can certainly help me.

Assets. Assets often won’t load

Too much pressure. Tried the beginners challenge and found it irritating as it speeds up more and more. Didn't realise for a while had to add games with + tile then added efficiency which included 3 games, I found them all irritating because they went on too long I got better to a point then as the game sped up I got worse and it annoyed me. It offered me 2nd level of each of the 3 games but I just wasn't interested. The games in lumosity and elevate are more engaging and rewarding.

Maybe paid version is better?. I’m currently trialling the free version of this app and so far it hasn’t been that great. I don’t understand what benefits I’m meant to be getting from the games and the instructions are quite vague. Maybe the paid version is better but the free version doesn’t inspire me to fork over my money.

Not bad but so sad.. So sad. If everything HAS to be a subscription service that only means that I HAVE to miss out on things like this app. The app itself is excellent. Consistently challenging without being overwhelming. Used daily it is a great workout for the brain. If you can afford to add it to the list of things you already subscribe to that you shouldn't have to.

Ms. Very occasionally, exercises within the app do not pick up your response - either the timing is out or it doesn't sense the response. Other than that the app is excellent.

The only Real brain exercises based on science. Fantastic! As a user of the computer based Posit Science programs I am thrilled to have access on my IPad. This program has measurable results, is fun and NOW portable as an app!

Trying it out. It’s great to be able to try out one exercise a day without paying. I’m getting a feel for whether the exercises will help me and whether I’ll be able to commit.

BrainHQ BY Posit Science - Affordable, Genuine Scientific Base, Validated Results. Recommended by eminent neuro-scientist Dr Norman Doidge, this software product has provided me with very positive results. I can highly recommend Brain HQ as the brain exercise software of choice. I love knowing that brainhq trains my brain where I need it. I am so glad that I discovered brainhq. As a lifelong learner, I have found it easy to keep my brain agile and fast in areas of interest which have developed into my strengths. However, now that I’m in my 50s, I notice that I need help to strengthen other brain functions I have not focussed on, I guess because I know I have weaknesses in these areas. I feel confident that my personal trainer in brainhq will help to retain capacity in my memory as it changes with age. The after sales support is excellent and I have bought gift subscriptions for my children so they too can build capacity in overall brain function. Thank you to all the researchers and entrepreneurs who have made this possible.

Reduce the cost!. A very good application for exercising your brain with a wide variation of games. However the cost of the application makes it prohibitive to buy. A pity as I am sure a lot more people will buy this application if the price was significantly reduced. It appears that the maker of this application does not understand simple economics. They would probably make a lot more money if the price was reduced as this would increase demand and generate extra profits. A pity!!!

Too Expensive. I got Brainhq on sale for an annual fee of $48($4/mth). The usual charges are $14mth or an annual fee of $96. In my opinion this is way to much after using it, this is extremely expensive for an app that isn't a service, it's just an app. The app itself is very good and I do recommend it, however let the market speak and don't pay these ridiculous prices, they'll get the message!

Great program. Very well thought out and executed. Have only just started using it but impressed so far

Good mental exercise without being tedious. All of the exercises have done so far a all challenging in some way and quite pleasant to do. The only complaint I have is that when you start a new one you've never done before, the explanation about how to play it and what to do is not at all good, I have to just keep playing and getting appalling scores until I figure out how it works. Otherwise I think it's a great app.

Comment.... It is good that we can make a free account for this game and we can play them as much as we want without having to pay which is what makes the game better than most other brain training games.

Extraordinary!. I can feel my brain kicking after a couple of months of training here!

Why oh why?. You have to send them your email address. I can only assume it is marketing.

Really?!. No useful feedback. Maybe purchased version better but unpaid introduction is wanting.

Great - “The medium is the message” - these games are the VERY BEST!. Simply “The BEST!”!

Limiting. I understand that the company needs to make money, but not everyone has enough spare money to pay for subscriptions. If you try and use this without subscribing, you basically don't get anything! Just a single level per day! This is really annoying as it seems like a great app. I think that there should be more access for free version

Intrusive junk. You literally cannot even turn this app on without first giving it your email address. Not going to happen.

I really enjoyed it!. I am not sure how to measure if I am using more of my brain or not, but I defiantly get better with each time I play these games. It's also a lot of fun! Would defiantly recommend it to people to play!

Excellent, but.... First reaction was that this is brilliant (partially because I love Todd), and I certainly need the exercise. However, reading the review about spam.. If I get a similar experience I'm gonna be cross and make noise.. If I don't then I'll happily pay the pittance due for the rest of the levels.. Be thankful, it's not Candy Crush 😖.

This app will keep your mind sharp. This app is the equivalent of going to the gym and having a personal trainer, there's lots of different games to target specific parts of cognitive capacity it's great. Play it for 20 minutes each day and you will see the results.

You get what you put in. This is no walk in the park. The exercises push all our cognitive buttons, they are frustrating at times, but with diligence and application will render results. Sometimes I would like to get some strategic advice on how to best approach some of the exercises, but perhaps these would only suit some folk as we have different ways of processing information. I give this 5 stars because it is meticulously designed and far reaching in its scope.

Fantastic Brain Exercises. Have only started using the this app. I really enjoy their challenge on thinking. However, I'm concerned for when my 'beginners' phase ends and the only way to progress is via subscription. I think people already have a lot of monthly bills to pay and don't need an app subscription on top of the pile. If it were a one off cost, I'd likely pay for it.

Free exercises only as yet but intending to subscribe.. Most impressive. One unnecessary difficulty is the strong regional accent in the syllable exercise. An Australian finds it difficult to quickly distinguish between "dish" and "dash", "nut" and "not", and there are others. This reduces the value of the exercise which is important to we hearing-impaired.

Think about the way you think!. Great challenges, like the way it is progressive and keeps you on your toes. Can feel improvements in clarity of thought.

Great but buggy. I have been having a lot of trouble getting BrainHQ to listen to what I consider a bug. Frequently the app gets frozen on the logout, meaning I cannot save my work. I have to delete the app and reinstall. I have the latest IPad and run the latest updates. I have been using the website previously but the app is an easier way to work the application. Looks like I am back to the computer version. Fix the bug and I would give it a 5 star.

BrainHQ. Extending, sharpening and rewiring my cognitive ability. Working for me anyway! Nat.

Extraordinary!. It is simply incredible, in a short period you will start to feel different, see things differently, it is definitely a must have program. My entire family is in love of it. I can't wait to see what happened after a longer period of training time.

Do the exercises every day?. Hi Michael, I really am a big fan. Thank you for Brain HQ. Thank your colleagues too. So good to know you have my back. Or is it my brain?! I promise to do the exercises every day. I promise. From today. Deal. Stay safe and well. All the best, Jane

Plasticity. I used this app plus Lumosity and Active Memory for 1 1/2 hours per day in the hope that they might help to combat my Brain Noise. ( No, not tinnitus nor ototoxicity) After about 2 years I stopped because they had made no reduction to the noise. Approximately 10 months off, I noticed that my mental alertness wasn't as sharp. Now, 3-4 months back doing Posit Science and Melbourne University (Flory Institute) apps my mind seems sharper with the bonus of a more positive outlook on life. It works. David

Software issues. There are a lot of software issues. My progress keeps resetting so for the past week I’ve had to do level 1 7 days in a row

Brain Training.. I saw an excellent program on ABC here in Australia and it really got me interested in training my brain . This app is convenient and fun. Keep up the great work guys and gals.

Buggy. Mixed signals exercise is buggy as all getup. I agree with previous reviewer that brainhq do not respond to issues or problems (I have a subscription and have emailed a few times about issues with the web version). I will still keep this but I wish they had better service and they need to seriously look at bugs in the mobile app.

Amazing app. So impressed with the combination of scientific rigor and game like usability of this company and this app. 3 weeks in I am already noticing significant cognitive and memory benefits.

Extremely Worthwhile. This program is valuable to stimulate my ability to learn... thanks

Restricted. Would be good to have access to trial full app for a week to decide if one wants to pay for the subscription as the minimal access for non subscribers does not give enough insight to make that decision. - WHY BOTHER TO ASK CONSUMERS TO CONTACT YOU IN ORDER TO OFFER A CURT REPLY IN RGDS YOUR SERVICE...WONT BE PURCHASING AFTER CUST EXPERIENCE.

Not a lot of care put into development. The content is good but the way the app delivers it is not. Lots of graphic bugs. Animations that take way to long to complete. Doesn’t appear to have been optimised for use on newer iPhones (graphics cut off on rounded corners of screen).

If you only ever get one app, this is it!. Well structured, clear directions, gradual progression. Highly recommended!

Great but expensive. Really challenges brain & reflexes. However it’s pricing is rediculous unless for specialist training use.

Love this app. Brilliant app that’s backed by solid science and research

Keep trying to challenge myself and get to improve. Enjoying the different ways of thinking that I am able to challenge myself with.

Not knowing. I have never played this game I’m excited to now start

Amazing app. Really helped me with my auditory problems, while other brain training apps did not have that option. Best training app I've tried so far.

Personal trainer for your brain. Great news for people with sub-clinical (and clinical) neurological processing issues. Objective and creative with emerging science backing. Works best with a brain personal trainer to direct your training.

Does NOT offer "in app purchases"!. This app claims to offer in app purchases, but does not. In an attempt to evade Apple's fees for in app purchases Posit Science uses a very clunky system of purchasing subscriptions through their website. This means that you cannot purchase in the same currency if you are not in the country of your App Store. Once you have signed into the app on a device, there is no way to access the website with that email address. All you get is login errors. For an app that is supposed to be by brain experts, they should have thought about it a bit more. I am very disappointed with the app.

Brain wave, second review Be Aware!. This is the best of this type of app that I have tried so far. It actually tires me which I know means that I am working areas of my brain that are neglected. I do some of the exercises over and over and I can see the improvement in certain areas. It is also fun! I would have given 5 stars but there is area to improve, I would like to see some more variation in games and there is no provision for poor vision which does not mean you are not smart enough, just physically impaired. I have discovered that this app is very buggy! I subscribed but still can't get into a lot of games and it keeps asking me to subscribe. Have emailed my concerns which have been ignored! Not going to pay any more until I get what I have already payed for.

Science good, pity about the graphics. Yes, so I'm sure the science IS good, but after doing the exercises for a few weeks, a few things are starting to irritate me intensely: 1. The horrible garbled American accents and the nonsense words. 2. The lack of any colour or style in the graphics - grey on grey, boring! 3. The repetitiveness of the exercises as you progress- determining the difference between "ad" and "ads" 30 times in a row is just way beyond a joke. Having said all that, I do think it's helping my mental clarity. But not enough to make me want to keep playing

Brain Stimulation. I find the problems very interesting and it helps stimulate my brain I am 75 years old and have through laziness and indifference allowed my brain to hibernate This has caused me a lot of shame and pain I hope by going through these exercises I would be able to regain some of the intelligence I had when I was younger and full of hope for the future Stanley Lee

Easy to use. I like how easy it is but still cannot access progress report without going on to main site.

This not a game, it’s training!. I read several books about the brain, among them, two from Normand Doidge M.D. that’s where I heard about brain training, and specifically the one here, developed by Dr. Merznich and his team, and I’m totally delighted to have access to it so easily! Thank you very much for that app! I know it will change my life,

WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!. I liked the intro game but then I tapped the plus and found out they wanted $20/mth-- absolutely ridiculous. Super disappointing.

Why I don’t like BrainHQ. I like it because of the ek... ik... too hard! Stuff like Scene Crasher.

Challenging. Really like the different 'issues'....not always good at all of them, but they are fun.

A real workout. My husband started training to help with his hearing so I joined in to be supportive. It really challenges your brain and continually gets harder as you improve. I notice an improvement in memory both in speed and recall, and just feeling my mind is sharper. You can tailor your program to suit your needs, well worth the money.

Hm. So I’ve been doing the daily sparks for free for now, I wont be continuing to use this app as it’s wayyy too easy and I’m bored playing these. You don’t even get to do anything when it’s free. And even if I did buy it, why are the lessons so easy and unchallenging? I’m 13 years old. maybe I’m just smart, or maybe this app is useless.

Lousy interface on iPad. For the price, you'd think the iPad interface would be better. It is very frustrating and not at all intuitive. I'll stick with lumosity, heck with the brain science...

Tom Brady’s cheat code. I was recommended this game by my old pal Brady, and I have to say i’m impressed with what it is. I’ve been using the trial version of this game for about a year, meaning I can only play once per day, but that doesn’t limit its help to my days. I cant say whether I feel smarter because of this app or not (as i’m a student still), but it definitely can jump start the day in terms of precision. I recommend this to anybody, it helps with driving, conversation, video games, memory, and is backed by years worth of scientific research. Great find!

Creative and Quick!. Impressed with the challenges and diversity.

It works!. Enjoyable, challenging and it really works.

I like it. quick and challenging

No audio in the audio games. The audio for the audio games do not work on mobile. I’m forced to exit about 4 of the exercises early because they do not have sound... without this the app feels very incomplete. Please fix this because I feel very ripped off

BrainHQ App. The app is terrible a lot of the exercise’s don’t work properly. If this is how BrainHQ is going to be now I won’t be renewing my membership.

Would have given 5 BUT.... I would have given five stars but... The voice on the to do list training is pitchy and has feedback or something no matter how I adjust the volume it causes my ears to hurt. I love the app but every time I play that game my ears hurt and I try to rush to make that game go faster just to move on.

When I train I fail badly. I find that the exercises are too fast for my eye/ coordination skills. Can you add more time ?

Be Patience, consistent and have a positive outlook. This app is the only one ( not Lumosity) based on true scientific research. It is really excellent even if you don’t see the results in front of your face be certain that they are in the background of your brain.

Hate the new update. The new update is very annoying to play. Too many repetitions of the same exercises day after day.

Thanks for this app. I ❤️❤️❤️👍👍 this app

Functionality. I use this on my iPad and find that some of the programs do not function properly.

Des professionnels. DD

Bad news. It will only allow me to use one challenge. It doesn't matter how high my score is, I can't move to another challenge. When I try to move to another challenge it crashes. Not made for ipad! It won't even let me select a star, not that I would give it one.

Highly Recommended Program. I find Brain HQ to be well worth the money. I've been using the program consistently for several months and have noticed significant increase and sharpness in memory. I've also noticed difference in speed and efficiency in reacting to situations unfolding around me. Thanks to the team at Brain HQ for your research and development of a product that works like they claim.

Great app!. Don't miss this app. It provides quality testing and exercises.

Feeling that may not be a good site.. Cost keeps going up as American dollar against the Canadian. Never had this done before, cash grab!!! Want to cancel but no place to do that, have text you and if no reply will notify my credit card that you refuse to allow me to cancel and to prevent you from any further charges plus will go on social media and let people know not to allow you access to their credit card or bank for charges because you abuse it and do not allow cancellations!!!

Only Works if made use of. I read, any amount of BrainHQ training helps. Impressive! I will in good time reach 30 minutes each session three times per week. This stuff is amazing. It has really helped me feel better through improved function in every day. I use to feed anger in my gut through aggressive responses to stress. These were triggered by my mind, which only made me feel worse. I also had a tough time keeping my thoughts CLEAN. As in visualizing unreal events in my head. These made things worse as it separated imagination and reality by a very close margin. Meaning I would experience minor events that did not take place. As in someone telling me something I felt anxious about. Those are done with. No more wobbling of between la la land and reality. I also began taking better care of myself. An example of this is the fact I enjoy looking good again, in better then house clothes- I finally buy clothes with my Wife because I chose to. No longer am I penny pinching till it hurts- worrying about- ever running low on resources. My talking is a lot better in the sense I stopped beating round the bush. I was diagnosed with mania after starting talking to random people in public. Now I realize enough to see how messed up I felt prior to Good Treatment- which helped- the form of brain training through Brain HQ. I’m excited to review this software after doing it intensively for 4 weeks of 40 minutes per session. 5 days a week. I’m in love with my Brain since beginning to care for it through some software resistance training. My sense of humor is a tidbit better, my laughter being more natural compared to hysterical explosions of forced out moaning. Now I feel comfortable in my own skin- being proud what who I am. My physical exercise routine got a tweek also. I workout to feel good while fitting into pant sizes I wore in high school. A couple years back My physical Workouts are no longer suicide reflections of pouring sweet n feeling complete exhaustion followed. My heart rate dropped by 20-30 beats per minute during moderate stationary bike routines. I sleep better but also take time to rest during a busy day. After the motorcycle accident I was always wound up. So much so that I’d choose to walk 7 km to work just to feel calm. I also walked to save $6.50 per day on bus fare. Remember I mentioned money. One of the reasons I’d feel calm about running low on money was my anxiously about ending up on the streets one day. My state of mind was silly to say the least. How would spending six and a Half Canadian dollars be the tipping point of homelessness. It was anxiety that kept me away from a better way of living. Now I am here. In our own house, driving a nice car. Two child seats taking up seating space in our 7 seater. I really don’t know where to draw the line here. Wow I am alive again...happy at that. My Wife is happier since my noggin works enough to accompany her in most of life’s adventures. Thank you Dr. V for prescribing me BrainHQ It saved us tons of gloom

Could be better. Hi, this app is being used to help someone who is recovering from dementia (yes there is hope through Dr Bredesen's protocol) and I am finding it moves just a little too fast in some of the exercises. Some are ok. But the sound one and the sight one where your choose if it went down or up, for instance, is just too quick! I am definitely needing to guide the activities as 80 year olds generally don't know their way around technology anyway. Will keep trying. Thanks

My favourite. Thi

Amazing app. This app is well worth the investment if you are interested in improving your brain health. The free version gives you enough to start with, but there is an incredible amount included in the paid version so I would highly recommend it.

Expensive. This game is expensive. I would have preferred spending my money on other things that are free or half the cost. I would not recommend this training to anyone. Save your money. I have not noticed any increase in my memory.

Very good. I’m really finding this app to be helpful during PCS. it’s exactly what I needed.

Why oh why. It once was a smooth running app for the visual sweeps portion of the app, but now is very choppy and hard on the eyes. Many reboots and deletions have been attempted, but nothing works on this iPad, and two iPods. Any suggestions?

Brain Training. I love this app.

Pricing really?!. It’s clear that you target those who heard about this through books or articles, because who else would be willing to pay a subscription more than twice the price of Netflix. Subscription based are usually for apps that will continuously provide new contents... It’s not appropriate for a brain trainer app which at some point, you have what you came for, no need of additional games. You’re probably losing a lot of new coming user because you are too greedy.

Cured my friends ADD. I let my cousin in Bulgaria use this program and he said that it cured his ADHD in 3 months with 2 hrs of daily training. He mainly focuses on double decision, divided attention, card shark, mind bender, right turn, target tracker

Great. Really interesting brain work.

Sometimes the app doesn’t work. It will say come back later and you come me back later and it still won’t work. When it works it’s great

Challenging. I find the Daily Sparks keep me on my toes. Some of the instructions are vague, but overall they an interesting challenge. My daughter introduced me to the App and we compare notes daily.

Brain Exercise. Enjoy the exercises, I hope they can improve my I Q. Thanks, Best regards, Harold

The Hq Brain Exercise. For my body I have Stewart McGill’s famous three For my brain, I have Hq Brain A multi exercise program Thank you, for the science And the benefits.

Chore. I was very enthusiastic when I first signed up. However, I find that not being able to start slowly and speed up on my own is preventing me from trying certain exercises. I get all wound up and frustrated and don’t enjoy it any more than working out at the gym! Catherine.

Too slow. There’s a delay in selecting the correct sequences. I’m not likening this new update at all. It’s way too annoyingly slow for me especially when I’m playing my favourite, “visual sweep” game.

Good, but possibly buggy. It seems as though you can trick the app by clicking the answer button in rapid succession, thus boosting your performance rating. With this fix, the app would be a solid four stars for me. Fun game.

The 1st level is boring. Thank you for trying to entertain me. The bird is simply easy. Trying to find out how to advance is the hard part. Signed by me...Sheila

TBI. There is more to the picture then meets the eye...that explains a TBI! This amazing app makes my brain relearn and learn! It is proofs the brain can heal from a Traumatic Brain Injury! Thanks

Terrible user experience and design. UI and UX needs a complete overhaul. Science may be solid, but they need let someone who understands user experience and design have a complete redo of this thing. It’s painful to use. Prepare to be confused and frustrated every time you use it.

Not as good as it used to be. I've been using the Brain HQ for several months. I've always found that accessing through the "reminder" email gave me a far superior management of the program. However, I've also accessed through the app. Over the last week it just gets worse every day. Today, I get a low battery message every 2 minutes but my iPad battery is at 99%. The App definitely needs a lot more work.

That's it?. That's it?

Sound bug on iOS - Please Fix Now!. There is a bug with the sound when using the app on the iPad (or any iOS device). Sound only comes in one ear when using headphones. This makes training on the iPad difficult, not to mention disorienting and annoying. If one doesn’t use headphones it’s annoying for anyone who is in earshot. Signed up over a month ago and this hasn’t been fixed. I expect much better customer service, especially when I’ve paid for a subscription.

I like to compete with myself.. Sometimes it actually feels like it hurts. Strange. Often, I feel as satisfied as I do after effective stretching. I am grateful to be able to keep my brain sharp even in my 70’s.

Fun Brain work. I love going on to this app and doing the exercises. It’s fun but more than that after only a week I feel like my brain is looser (or tighter) details are crisper, I can think quicker. I’m more relaxed. I can’t really place the words for it but there is a positive change and I definitely recommend anyone spending time with this program

Brain HG. We do not recommend this program. The Explanations for the brain exercises are so poorly written you have to figure out how to do the exercises on your own. Additionally, they speed up and go do fast ( often while you are still trying yo figure out how exercise works) that the program becomes frustrating and undoable. We use many other brain exercise programs and have never had this trouble before. Brain HQ is so poorly designed it is stressful and upsetting. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!

So difficult but just what I need!. As my memory diminishes and my brain processing time deteriorates, this exercise — though it sometimes literally stops my brain — is less daunting than when I started. I feel that I am slowly improving. Bravo to whoever created this wonderful series of exercises!

Brain Training for Excellence. This training challenges us to grow and strengthen our brains including areas that we never considered ourselves competent in. Because of my experience in BrainHQ I’ve started learning French despite my life long inability andor lack of confidence in learning languages.

Take care of brain now so it will take care of you later. This app has very creative games that stimulate various aspects of brain function. Enough uniqueness to each day that it never gets boring. Having seen many cases of dementia in the past, I feel exercising your brain is important to stave off hopefully or at least decline of mental acuity as we age.

What I Need. Memory is all about focus. And for a musician and writer, it’s hard to leave the right brain world and pay attention. Hopefully this will give me the ability.

Recommended. I am a speech therapist in a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. I use this program with my patients and recommend it as they return home. It’s been a wonderful way to challenge my patients.

Boring, tedious games; poor customer service. The games may be beneficial to some, but they are boring, tedious and repetitious. I bought the full version (about $97) because their web site offered a 30 day money back guarantee. When I asked for a refund, I was informed that they were unable to fulfill their guarantee because I purchased it through the App Store (which is how most people purchase their apps). Have you ever tried to get a refund through the App Store? Good luck! Don’t waste your time and money.

Brain HQ. This is is a program is a must to have if improving your memory is important to you. I’ve been using it for 3 years.

Brain work out. I feel my brain working. I believe the exercises help to keep me sharper. Trying to keep my body strong by diet and exercise. Why not work out my brain a bit as well. And it’s fun!

Not for the hearing impaired. Interesting brain training app but the puzzles that ask you to match sounds are inaudible if you have a hearing problem. Turning up the volume on the phone doesn’t work and I can’t seem to find a place on the app to turn up the sound. So I guess this isn’t the app for me.

Newcomer’s experience. Just started the trial app. I have enjoyed it. Waiting for audio exercises. Only had visual and memory so far. Been about five days. I would purchase the app after trial.

Get this app!. GRATEFUL my health insurance company offers this vital program to exercise the brain! This program is just as important as physical exercise. Best part about it is you won’t feel like it’s exercising at all just playing a couple of awesome games! BrainHQ FAN!

My goal. I turn 79 in June. Last year I happened to get an MRI. I am interested in some sort of list of what parts of my brains are being helped by the individual units. For example, if I am interested in improving short-term memory, on which units should I concentrate? Thanks

App is frustrating!. Love the games but app continually is a problem. Tap on icon often just have a gray blank screen. Contacted company followed their directions delete app reinstall etc. works great for hours and sometimes days then have to do the same thing again. Contacted them many times last was instructions that could not be completed on a blank screen. Very frustrating cancelled. Never had this problem with any other app!

One of the best apps for your brain. I can’t believe that you can actually increase your cognitive power with the help of exercises. This app is a really good starting point in your journey to cognitive excellence 🙂thanks to everyone who is and has worked behind the scenes for the app

So far, hard but interesting. This almost feels physical. I hope it makes be smarter!! Some of the directions (and I’ve only been at this two days) could be improved, but I can certainly see how it forces a person to focus.

Challenging. I am very happy with this app. I have only used 3 different types but will continue to try different types and then make a decision on the overall subscription. It seems more like a fun game than an app for improving my brain

Is it really helping?. I have no idea. I've been using this app for around a year, and the exercises are fun, challenging, and not infrequently frustrating. Also, the app can be rather "buggy." The developers support their assertions that it will promote brain health with research that is published in scientific journals. So I continue to use it, but I'm taking it on faith that brainhq is really doing me any good. I don't feel especially smarter, quicker, or more confident. Thus, the three stars.

To many useless screens.. I’ve been working with the app for several weeks. There are too many pop up screens that make you wait for the exercises to start.

I would give it five stars.. It’s a great app except the screen only works from left too right. Not up and downward. I have an IPhone normally I can just simply turn my phone in any direction🤷🏽‍♂️ I do not have that option, also some of the brain trainings the items are way too small too view.

Helps calming down. Im about a month into doing regular training so I can’t be sure of the benefits with increased brain training I guess results might need more time however it helps me distract from daily stress of life

Just started. I just started using it on my iPhone To see if i should consider a membership. Well the game im desperately trying to finish today doesn’t work. No matter how much i touch the bubbles, only sometimes it registers. Very frustrating. I don’t think i want to spend the money.

Browser app has a better experience but lots of bugs. I much prefer using the browser app in chrome, but there are so many bugs it doesn’t work half the time. The iOS app’s user experience is highly inefficient, you spend more time watching the app move between exercises than you spend doing the exercise. I enjoy the exercises when they work, and really don’t need to watch confetti explode as I move from one to the next.

Enjoying a break in my day!. I look forward to taking time to challenge my mind, my eyes. My patience with my self. Thank you for making this available as both enjoyment and refreshing work for my focus, my intelligence, my alertness in all the games.

So far so good - but not on iPad!. I downloaded the app on my iPad for use on the larger screen, and the introductory test didn’t make sense at all - it seems my only choice was to do a forced exit. I downloaded it onto my phone and it was a while different experience - I was able to do the exercise, which was fascinating! I will subscribe - but it would be great to use my iPad. Model: iPad Pro Model #MLQ62LL/A (9.7 inch) iOS 16.1

This truly wakes up your brain!!. I do this as often as I can, and I feel it truly helps my memory. You have to remember to do the best you can, no pressure to win. I sometimes have to fight that mindset.

Restoring my mind from TBI. Got into a car wreck 6 months ago and thinking, focusing and talking have been difficult. My therapist referred me to using this app and it has helped quite a bit. Slow process to get back to where I was, but this app will do the trick.

Love BrainHQ. I am a senior citizen - worried about mental decline. I have bee doing this program for a couple of months and I have noticed improvement in my daily life. In driving. My reaction times are faster and I feel more secure in noticing other cars and distractions. Thanks HQ for making my world a bit safer. Any suggestions for helping me remember where I put my coffee cup or eye glasses?

Helps with peripheral vision. I see an improvement in my driving especially on freeway. I am seeing all the lanes not just my lane. I am able to drive in a space with no cars immediately beside me. Thanks for helping me become more aware of my surroundings!

Yashara Price. I had a stroke four years ago, and I had to relearn everything: talking, walking, spelling, typing, cooking, counting money, I could go on, but you get the idea. Anyway, this is the best app I could find - and I’ve tried ALOT! Thank you, Dr Mercola and BrainHQ!

Finally get it. This app actually helps develop your brain’s capabilities. I thought brain games were a waste of time. This one measures how you are improving and makes you do things that it first make your brain hurt and then hum.

Game the people that make’s the game is not fair ?. I told you before you are not fair. When are we make a mistake you take too much off the points off ??? It is like we have too started over again .

It could be better …. Unfortunately I like and find helpful and fun only three games of the many offered . The star system they have to measure progress is very confusing for me. I’ve been working for several years with different brain games apps because I like them and find them very useful . BrainHQ is not so good for me compared to many others apps that are very fun and less expensive.

Just Starting and Hopeful. Although I am at this point, doing poorly on the exercises, I can certainly give you a five-star response. I am doing a “smigen” better each time I do an exercise. And I look forward to the next test.

Best site ever. I have used a few brain game sites over a few years and BrainHQ is by far more “bendable” to suit my desires and needs as well as an exercise routine that requires no changes. Competing with myself is challenging AND fun. With a brief bio on the researchers included, I am satisfied that real science is improving all areas of my brain. Two thumbs up!

Keep on trying!. I had a small stroke a month ago, and they said I should try this site that is used by our town’s Senior classes. I’m amazed how hard some skills are, but I am grateful to have this. I know they are touching skills I need; I know I’ll be stronger. Lots of people keep coming to the class each year; I think I’ll use it for a long time!

Sherry Rebar. So far I have enjoyed the brain games except the one that I can’t figure out. It is frustrating to think you can’t even figure out how to complete the lowest level of a game.

Very effective when used regularly…. I’ve noticed significant improvements when I train consistently. Many exercises are frustrating (at first), but when I persist, improvements come and it gets easier. Keep up the good work BrainHQ!

Love the challenge. I had this app, quit but came back because none of the other were as good. One thing I really like is the ability to stop and come back. Some things I still need to master but always get another chanc E

Can only access free stuff even though I bought the subscription. So, I bought a monthly subscription and it still won't grand me full access. I keep getting the prompts to subscribe even though I got charged. uodate: I was able to restore the subscription using the FAQ on their website. In the app, it's under account -> about -> restore subscription

Disappointed😢. Although the concept is good and I have enjoyed the training, I am having a terrible time swiping. Swiping does not always work. Would a stylus work better? I am also utilizing another brain app and the swiping is never a problem. Also, the app will just quit all of a sudden. I’ve deleted the app and retrieved from the cloud and it continues to malfunction.

Challenging!. Dang, Brain Training will not give you a false sense of confidence or achievement! You do have to earn it which is good and makes it effective. ✌️ I hope to be doing it more consistently to help with the improvement.

I didn’t think it would work, but .... ... it does. I’m 57 and my cognitive abilities and reflexes have absolutely deteriorated. I’ve just done the free exercises for a week, but I can see and feel that my performance is getting better. I’m signing up for a year subscription today. Incredible. Thanks for creating this life-changing app.

Great workout for the brain.. I’m so glad I hear about this app. I’ve downloaded several others in the past but failed to continue to use them. This one is great and doesn’t take that long. Great job! 👍

Brain HQ. This is game is an excellent way to nourish your thinking capacity. The individual games are challenging and it is fun to see your progress. Certain games that you struggle with initially can actually become fun eventually.

could be better. the graphics feel like something from the late 90s, which isn’t cute. maybe that’s a “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” mentality, but honestly it just looks like like brainHQ is broke (monetarily), since it doesn’t look like it has been updated since the conception of this company/app. also some of the instructions on the games could use better instructions. but other than that it’s okay, i guess.

Fun and effective!. Been training for a week and a half and already notice a much easier time remembering things. My texting speed has also greatly improved! It’s so much fun I have no trouble finding time to train.

Loading issues. I have a TBI and can’t afford the app but I play the one free game daily. Lately though, I cannot get the app to load correctly. It says “something has gone wrong”. I have deleted the app off my iPhone and iPad and reinstalled but it still won’t work. Disappointed as I really like the games.
