Quality not what it used to be. I've been reading Analog since the late '60s. At one time, I couldn't wait to get my monthly SF fix, often reading it from cover to cover in one sitting. But, over the last decade or so I feel the quality of writing has slowly degraded. Stories have gone from wonderful explorations of new worlds to thinly vailed vehicles to promote some sort of political agenda. I now suffer thru each issue, which may take me a week to do now. And, I'm finding myself more and more skipping a story, something I haven't done since originally subscribing over 40 years ago as a kid. To bad. I mourn the loss of a great magazine.

Ripoff. I paid for a year subscription of asimovs and analog through magster and now I don't have access to any issues. It wants me to pay again. I tries contacting them twice but never heard back. Less than one star

Registration. Was asked to register AFTER PAYING for digital issue. Have provided all information asked for to register. App will not complete registration, in constant downloading phase. Please refund my purchase. Very disappointed in your service. Now I Have To Provide Nickname To Send You This Complaint Of Non-Service? You are a joke.

Love it. I can't resist buying a subscription when it is 50% off!

Great Content. Analog remains my favorite printed source for new sci-fi. I wish they could get the app out of Newsstand. Standalone apps are much easier to work with.

Content good, layout bad. The app isn't really set up for reading on the iPad. It's just a shrunk-down version of the magazine page itself, so you end up doing a lot of pinch-zoom and sliding-around gymnastics. Too bad.

Not great for IPhones. While I love the content and will continue to read Analog in on form or another, this version has two major flaws for iPhone readers: First, the insistence on the two column version means you will consistently have to stretch and zoom on each page. There is no way to simply move from one page to the next. There is no way to select a comfortable font size to read in. The other major problem is that the app won't automatically save your place like many other e-book apps. If you forget to bookmark when you stop reading, you are forced to search for where you left off. The developers should work on these flaws in future versions.

Still Needs Work. The app is formatted like the print magazine, which is not ideal to the iPad. The app does not remember your place in the magazine where you stopped reading, and bookmarks frequently just go away. Still, it's Analog. The content is great.

Old Friend.. I have been reading this mag for a LLONG time , and it is hard to find in print. Now I can carry it around and read when I want to

Great content, so so user experience. I wish I could highlight text and use Lookup as with many apps. It doesn’t remember my overwhelming preference for single page views. Clicking on a story in content pops up a useless dialog instead of taking me to the page, so I have to scroll through the page thumbnails at the bottom. Most annoyingly I keep getting prompted to share info I don’t care to share for capability I don’t want. I’m already paying for the content, so get out of my way and let me enjoy it instead of undermining my privacy for more money. Analog has great stories as it has had for decades. And I like consuming it digitally. Just wish interacting with the app was less annoying.

Difficult to use with no bookmarking. I was excited to see Analog in the Newsstand, but disappointed in the features. The table of contents isn't touch sensitive, you have to manually page all the way through to an article. But the biggest missing feature is any type of bookmarking or way for the app to remember where you were reading last. When you exit the app, all is cleared. Anxiously awaiting an update to make the app usable...

Much prefer Kindle app. This is my first try at reading something in Newsstand and I have to say I much prefer reading this in the Kindle app. I quickly tired of the Magzter app (edition?) not keeping my place and having to locate where I left off. The Kindle app offers better viewing and formatting options. I don't know if it is Magzter or Newsstand I am disappointed with but for now at least I will be sticking with my Kindle app.

Great magazine, terrible on the ipad. I love Analog but it's horrendous on the ipad. As others have mentioned, you can't adjust light or size through the terrible bookstore app and worse , no book marks so you have to search for your page every time you read. Just terrible. Update: I migrated over to the Magzter app and now I can enjoy Analog properly.

Just get the paper version. Analog publishes some great science fiction, but unfortunately it is very unpleasant to try to read any of it with their app. Like trying to read a photo of a magazine. Terrible, especially on the iPhone. Just get the paper version.

Great mag, very limited app. I changed my subscription from paper version to this app. The app is usable, but disappointing, because it's far behind iBooks in usability. (1) Can't set font size. You can magnify by stretching with your fingers and pan around the page, but you have to do it every time you turn the page. It's hard to turn pages if you magnify: have to pan to the right margin, then catch and pull the little black border behind the margin. (3) There are no bookmarks. (4) One great feature of iBook is that you can select a word and look up its definition; this app doesn't let you select. The very first issue I got (Jan/Feb'13) had a full-page ad covering what in the print edition is a half-page ad with a half page of text under it. The text was totally missing. Luckily, my print and online editions overlap by that issue, so I could read it on paper and go on.

Analog!. The app needs work, but the content is still great. Developers: check out the Huffington Post for a really good magazine app.

A great way to read science fiction. Although I loved buying copies at the bookstore, and holding the paper magazine version, now after subscribing and reading on the iPad for about 6 months, I'm hooked and there is no going back. I'm very happy!

Not for those who have already paid for print subscription. It is very disappointing that you have to buy a second subscription. Hopefully Dell will fire magzter and make their own app some day.

Magazine is excellent, app less so. This magazine has been around for ever, and is pretty awesome. Perhaps doesn't have the budget it used to have, but still has high standards for science fiction. The app is powered by Magzter however, and it it leaves something to be desired. My biggest beef: it won't remember what page I was on (or even what issue I was reading) if I haven't visited the app in awhile! That drives me nuts!,

Great content with an interface that is need of a serious update. I subscribe because I love the Analog content. On the basis of the content, I would give it five stars. However, I find the interface to be unbelievably bad. It's awkward and cumbersome to read the content on an iPhone or an iPad. Analog, please update the interface and make it easier for your customers to read and navigate. Thanks.

Nice app. I have been a paper Analog subscriber for a year and my renewal just came in the mail. I decided to purchase the iPhone subscription instead, since the 1 year iphone subscription was on sale for 20.99. I was a little hesitant to do away with my hard copies of Analog but now that I downloaded and read through the first issue using the app, I think I will get used to this format and eventually like it better. The app itself is easy to use and doesn't get in the way of reading the stories. The use is smooth and easy to zoom and look at the cover and pictures, which look great on the retina display. I also like that the table of contents is hyperlinked and that I can now read analog in bed without my wife complaining about the light keeping her awake. Only thing i wish is that we could subscribe once and get both phone and printed copies, like I can with the Economist. I called to ask about it but the Analog person said the subscriptions are separate so you'd have to pay the 20.99 for the iPhone subscription and another $35 for the print subscription...so I opted for iPhone only. I would even pay a little extra to get both bot not $55. I'm really happy with this iPhone app though, and highly recommend Analog for those sci-Fi fans out there.

Lose your page every time!!!!!!!. Magzter provides an absolutely terrible platform PDF like, but at its worst. Font size is fixed, can just zoom in as in PDF Cannot look up definitions Lose you page every time you come back Unacceptable Stay with paper or kindle versions

Super. Best feature for me is not having to try to hold the magazine open since the spine doesn't give easily. I can read one side of the page at a time on my iPad and it gives me several options her font size. It is literally perfect. The only downside in the app is turning pages. There's a trick to getting it in just the right place to turn the page which is usually at the bottom when you finish the first page but sometimes the pay just flip around and don't want to turn. I seem to have the trick of it now. Love love love the magazine in this format.

Thought provoking ideas. One of the few magazines that contains ideas and insights into sciences and situations most people have never experienced. If you are interested in the future, these stories will open windows to new vistas. Not every story lives up to that premise but in general, there is enough hard science to give the reader things to ponder.

A Tradition Now Digital. I have read Analog for years, ever since Ben Bova edited. It has always been a joy to read. But now, since so many magazine sellers have either gone belly up or gone for the sales of more large scale titles, it has been hard to find "in the wild" as it were. It was indeed a joy to find this and it's sister pub Asimov's in Newstand. Well worth it. If you enjoy sci-fi as it has been meant to be, thoughtful, informative and entertaining, give these titles a try. And then subscribe. They deserve to thrive.

Should be a more sophisticated app for science fiction. This app does a good job of recreating the print magazine but navigation is clunky, reformatting and exporting features are nonexistent and the subscription price jumped unexpectedly. So it’s back to the old dead tree bookstore for the next issues for me, and if I miss a few, that’s just the way it goes.

Great content. Buggy execution.. The bookmark function occasionally loses your bookmarks. Layout. It's okay. Same great content that it has always been.

The Only Reason.... …I rated this app a 3 is because of the content - Analog. I first subscribed to Analog when I was 12 - some 50 years ago! Over the years - changing addresses and other factors sadly allowed the print subscription to expire. Now with this app and a yearly subscription I will again enjoy the content - the interface - not so much. A modicum of 21st century app development would enable this app to do more than passively display text - but that's all it does. No bookmark capability, no basic TOC interactivity - you get the idea. The app itself rates a .1 star. Geez folks, hire a competent app developer for a couple days and at least get this app into the basic usability stadium instead of standing out in the street and wondering why it's getting savaged by users.

Highly Entertaining. I bought my first issue this month, very fun and entertaining read. Good Sci-Fi and a few factual articles.

Analog. I am delighted to have Analog available in digital format. It provides that wonderful mixture of factual science, art, and all the genres of Science Fiction in one volume. I am sure nobody truly likes all the stories, but we all find some which superbly fit our tastes. I have been a subscriber to the print version for over 30 years, but my eyesight has deteriorated to the point where I can not read the print version. There are minor irritations -- my pet peeve is that after i expand the page, i have to shrink it again to turn the page. But that is minor compared to the pleasure of reading again.

Buyer beware .. You pay for magazines & then they want to repurchase the magazine to download them.

Nice work!. Nice work.. as always.. and thank you for using my stock images for the cover! :)

Useless for Reading on IPhone. This is a great magazine but has just slipped back to the 19th century. We in Australia who read it on our IPhones have been abandoned. There is no reasonable way to read this mag on the iPhone anymore. How very sad to have a mag that pushes science boundaries but can't keep up with technology and globalisation.

App is awful. Doesn't remember your reading position on one device let alone sync across devices. Get the content through kindle. I wish I did.

True Sci-Fi with some facts thrown in. What I most enjoy about this magazine is the stories sometimes could be real life i.e., we could almost do some of the things described. There was one story written as a Poem that tried to describe the distance from the centre of our universe to its outside edge and it was written by an Astrophysicist it is just so inspiring. I always read the facts section which is written by subject experts which makes me think.

Signed up for 6 day free trial; got charged $47.99. What gives? I signed up for a free trial and got charged for the whole year. That’s not a free trial. Also the UI is very dated. Not that smooth. I should have known this would be buggy and rough around the edges, given that the “AndFact” in the App Store title is missing a space!

Analog magazine. Have subscribed for many, many years! Found my first magazine on magazine rack in high school! Since I graduated in 1958, this is how long I have enjoyed this first rate magazine! The editorials, alternate views & fact articles always make one think!

Great magazine. Good app, can preview magazines coming out each month. I got notification on special subscription price and have subscribed. A great magazine for hard science fiction lovers.

Vanishing subscriptions. Purchased two one-year subscriptions through Magzter, this one and Asimov's. Both vanished when Magzter implemented their new system of requiring users to have a Magzter ID instead of the Apple ID as had been used before. After several exchanges with their tech support, and I was glad to at least get an answer, they were unable to retrieve my subscriptions and unable to explain what the problem was. Very disappointing as yearly subscriptions aren't cheap. As with others I am moving my subs to Zinio where I've never had any problems.
