- I AM IN MY GLORY.....!

Since yesterday, when I discovered this app...I have watched, back to back a TV SERIES that I had resigned myself to miss. It’s happened before; if I cannot afford it...it’s not for me. Dispute intense regret, I waved good bye to the ad on my ipad. When I saw the ad and went further into it, I was amazed. No kidding....at 67, I’m still a child of the universe and STAR TREK arriving in my life in 1966, was a “me’ changer. I literally covered the back of my bedroom door with photos from the TV GUIDE AND ANY I could con from Desilu..I attended the New York CONS! There is way more to this story, but that’s not for here. HERE, I will sing the praises of finding EVERY STAR TREK MOVIE, SHOW, TRAILERS and something called STAR TREK SHORTS. Short, wonderful pieces that bring you back to your (mine,too) first stunned, breathless moments when your realization that there COULD be something better for the Human race. If you are a TREKKIE, TREKKER, OR just watch for fun...you understand. The 100,000 of fans are not just good luck....we understand. If YOU DON’T understand; here is where you will! Oh, there are a ton of other shows I intend to ‘exploit’ when I need a break from the Federation....come and see!

- Great app. I wish I could give it 4 1/2 star rating instead

I love this app! Especially bc my tv tends to not always record every episode or sometimes someone will delete it before I get a chance to watch it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because there are a lot of commercials & if you don’t finish the episode that day or even the same day and decide you want to go back and finish it you have to go back to the beginning and fast forward to wear you left off, which doesn't seam so bad. Except you have to watch all the same commercials that you already watched before the show will begin (so say you watched an hour of the episode and only have 20 minutes left till the end, it will make you watch however many commercials it played during that hour you already watched) I mean It could be a lot worse and you couldn’t fast forward at ALL! So I don’t mind having to watch 6 commercials in a row because that’s how many were played up until the point of the show I exited it at, and they aren’t that long either . I just wish the app could remember where you left off and start it from the same place. That’s really my only complaint! But honestly it’s not a huge deal. The quality is great, it never skips or has issues pausing to catch up or loading issues so if there was a 41/2 stars that’s what I would give it. But for an app that you can get on your phone and not have to pay for its amazing! I highly recommend it if you are a CBS watcher!

- HORRIBLE TIMES INFINITY.

I have never written a review on here before but I felt that it would be a disservice to everyone if I didn’t write one on this app. I would have given this thing 0 stars if it would have let me but of course you can’t. I’m seriously considering calling my bank for fraudulent activity and having them refund me the money for this app because having to pay for this monstrosity of an app is definitely against the law. I tried this on my Apple TV, my iPhone, my iPad. Just a HORRIBLE app. I feel bad for the TV shows that have to rely on this app for ratings because I genuinely could not spend another minute of my life battling with this app to continue my show. Every 5 seconds the sound goes out. I have to press the 10 second back button to get it to work. Then it will go to a commercial in the middle of one of the most intense scenes and when it comes back it’s 5 minutes ahead of where it left off. Then when I try and rewind, I have to watch the ads again and then when I get back to the part I want to watch, it makes me watch the ads AGAIN. Then still will skip some of the scene again so basically I keep missing key parts of the show- on top of seeing some parts 17 times because I have to keep hitting the rewind button to get sound. I genuinely wish that I could get the time I spent messing around with this app back. For sanity reasons mainly. Hours were wasted and thanks to this app I now probably need therapy. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS.

- No longer connects to TV app

Worked pretty well for my multi-device family until it recently stopped integrating with the TV app. Now the app no longer shows in Up Next, and it’s not even an option in the How to Watch section of a search results screen (e.g., what you get after doing a search with Siri). With multiple devices in the family, it was the TV app for each device/user that kept track of which episode everyone was on, and now that we all have to use the app, and the app doesn’t even have profiles of its own, that tracking is gone, making for a lot of frustration. That CBS doesn’t let you turn off the horrendous feature that is auto-play on the Apple TV version just makes things worse if someone falls asleep while watching or just dares to tread too close to the end of an episode. Ultimately, this will force me to either re-sub through the Apple TV app (which will hit CBS financially) or drop my sub. It’s just that frustrating. Plus, just as Netflix’s refusal to support the TV app has led me to dramatically curb my watching of its offerings to the point I may soon cancel my 20-year old sub there, the same would happen with CBS and my commercial-free All Access sub. Without shows showing in Up Next — the starting point for TV for me — I simply forget about shows not listed there, and I rarely get around to checking the apps because I always have something queued up in Up Next.

- Frustrating

This is ridiculous. When the app works it works fine. But it freezes a lot. Then the app needs to be closed to restart. The download should be a true download. Some episodes simply stop and there is not resetting that position. The only thing to do is remove the download and the re-download. Now if I had consistent WiFi, then why would I need to download? It is like the developers have never traveled nor used the other online apps like Prime or Netflix or ITunes. I paid for it. I should be able to download the episode, with error correction, see the episode and then delete it. Simple. But not on this app. When I am on a plane or train and wi-if is spotty, that should not even matter because the episodes are downloaded! And I am traveling overseas now and can’t watch because I am out of the country???? Ridiculous. I downloaded the episodes in the USA, I should be able to watch them overseas. Same as the other apps. CBS, if you want me to pay full price then make Season 2 of Star Trek Discovery on iTunes and I will pay it. But if you want me to use the CBS app and pay you directly at least give me an app that works and works for travel. Not every user is a 20 year old sitting on their mom’s couch. Some of us have jobs, money, choices and are aware of other apps and how this CBS app should function.

- Truly Terrible

I really hate writing bad reviews, I work in customer service and bad reviews are the worst! However! Because you have to purchase the service to see Picard, and there is no other way, this makes having a terrible service even worse. To create an amazing show, to make it available only if you pay monthly for this service, and then have said service be incredibly slow and glitchy to the point of being practically inoperable is truly a way of showing you care little for your subscribers beyond their money. This is truly the most poorly functioning streaming service I have encountered and I struggle through Prime Tv often. Not only is it incredibly slow, when I watch shows it will get stuck on a commercial loop. It will go to commercial break, go back to the last two seconds before break, then back to a commercial break stopping to try to load for several seconds between each commercial. This will repeat endlessly until I restart completely. At that point, even if I check for updates, turn it of and on again, turn the entire system off and on again, all basic troubleshooting, if you attempt to resume the show it goes strait back into the loop. I am truly frustrated and disappointed and despite my absolute love of all things Picard and Patrick Stewart I will sadly chose to no longer toss money into something that does not work.

- Horrible!

I’m beyond frustrated and angry! For several yrs., I’ve been paying to watch CBS shows and all I get is constantly frozen episodes! It takes 2 hrs SERIOUSLY to watch an hour long show. Every minute, the app freezes and I have to close it and start over. If I try to resume, I have to watch all the commercials and then it freezes again. I’ve been through the whole customer service thing and they just want to blame it on Verizon. I’ve had Verizon to my home. They’ve checked everything and are sure it’s on YOUR end! Why can’t you fix this problem that apparently a ton of other customers are having? You’re the only major network that charges to watch their shows and I can’t even watch them This is disgusting!!! **UPDATE EVEN MORE DISGUSTED I posted my review a week ago and you replied saying the app had been updated and as far as you were concerned, all problems fixed. You asked that I post a new review after I used the new updated app. Well here I am and more annoyed than the first time! You app freezes constantly! I have to close the app, reopen it and start my show over FROM THE BEGINNING including the million commercial! What am I paying for?????? ABC, NBC and FOX don’t charge and their apps work perfect! Please fix this app or I’m done paying. It looks like I’m not alone either so keep your eyes open for a ton of cancellations!!!

- Champions League and Europa League

Just wanted to provide some details about the terrific CBS All Access coverage of both Champions League and Europa League football. In particular, I greatly value 1) access to all matches on replay, 2) landing pages that do NOT provide match scores (no spoilers), 3) no score updates displayed from other matches while watching replays, 4) ability to advance or go back in time to manage my viewing as I see fit, and 5) match feeds with British announcers that longtime fans have come to know and like best; there is no need to replace the British feeds with "Americanized" broadcasts that include overly talkative play by play announcers and/or poor commentary, or analysts that are compelled to develop story lines for the sake of creating drama; we've seen this done from other networks [ever watch an MLS match?]. And so in summary, I am most appreciative that the critical aspects of football broadcasts listed above are part of the CBS All Access coverage. You should be very proud of the offered service, and I for one am a very satisfied subscriber. Keep up the great work!

- The author should be ashamed

This app is pretty sad and CBS should be embarrassed. I can understand why they want to charge for vintage CBS programming but why should you have to pay to watch free programming from last month. Apparently the advertisers feel the same way as you can see they are few and far between. Every 10 minutes you get to see the same ads over again, some shows have only three different commercials which they show 2 and 3 times during one break. It’s no wonder they want to charge you to watch free tv, the advertising isn’t covering the cost. But besides that the app is flawed. It doesn’t keep track of the shows you watch, maybe you have to pay for that too. And it doesn’t have the ability to rewind 10 seconds back or forward during a show. Other video apps have this ability so the technology clearly exists. You can use the slider to move fore and aft, but that is not the least bit precise. Often it will bring you to a commercial break which you have to sit thru again. Which is hardly necessary as I’m sure you have the commercial memorized buy this time. So needless to say I rarely use this app and perhaps if others follow suit then maybe they will make an effort to improve the situation.

- Ill Conceived

I signed up for the 1-week trial because I've been a Star Trek fan for 17 years and I wanted to watch Discovery in quality and also to support everyone's efforts (after all, they're using Trek as the flagship of this new streaming service and to heavily promote it). Unfortunately, the service has some serious issues. Even for the $6.99 a month, there are still commercial breaks set up as they would be on TV. That's one thing, and maybe it wouldn't bother everyone -- I understand that. But I have also had a very frustrating time getting Discovery, as well as other shows, to play without issue. Often, an episode won't start (the commercial beforehand plays flawlessly, however...) and instead hangs on a black or green screen. Other times, I get an error message saying CBS servers are unavailable. I understand this service is relatively new compared to the other streaming options out there, but since its launch, there has been plenty of time to work out the kinks, and it boggles the mind how CBS, considering the size and experience of this company, cannot successfully implement what several other companies have been doing for years. It just goes to show how far behind the times the people in charge are.

- Great App

I am enjoying this app immensely. My one-week trial is now over and subscribing to CBS All Access has been a great investment for enjoying the content offered. I am internet-only through my cable company—no TV (and loving it). You get many TV shows with this app—current, new, and old—special presentations, news, and the livestream of CBS broadcasts; including affiliate news casts for your local area. If you cannot catch regularly scheduled CBS shows on the livestream, you can alway watch CBS shows on YOUR time. Very convenient. Picture quality is good to excellent on the TV shows I’ve seen. Audio quality is also good to excellent. I have no buffering issues on my end or their end—I have 100 Mbps internet. The variety of content is excellent. Only a few movies are available for streaming; this is mainly an app for TV shows, news, and CBS special presentations more so than for movies. Anyway, I am very satisfied. The subscription price is reasonable and the content is highly enjoyable! I use this app on my 12.9” iPad Pro, iPhone, and AppleTV-4!

- Finally CBS has fixed the crashing problem!

I feel that I owe it to CBS and their app design team to say thank you for fixing the issue of the app freezing and crashing every 3 to 5 minutes after watching a program. This started after the last format change and was extremely frustrating. I ended up canceling, then deleting the app, then redownloaded it and paid for the limited commercial fee to make sure that the problem was fixed. Much to my surprise it is working better than ever!! I then upgraded to commercial free, and now can enjoy my favorite programs again!!! Thanks CBS for fixing the problems! My faith has been restored in your network. The following is my written review from when I was extremely disappointed about the app. Just within the past month the app just crashes every 5 to 7 minutes. It happens while watching live TV, or pre-recorded shows. What is causing this? It started right after the last update/format change. Is anybody else having this issue?

- Great

What’s not to like? I get 120+ television shows I can watch across multiple devices; access to all Star Trek series, including the Animated series; soon to be All Trek All the Time(woohoo); Picard is back; New Twilight Zone coming; smooth streaming on my pad or Mac; the list goes on. The only issues I’ve seen, so far, is with cursors remaining after advertisements while watching on iMac and sometimes the “Done” top left stays after while watching on iPad. If you’re still unsure about Star Trek: Discovery, then take the time to look up House Kor. Notice this isn’t the first time an albino Klingon has been in Star Trek. Find the link between the two and you’ve discovered what makes the Klingon story in this show almost poetic. Discovery is canon Star Trek. It surrounds the Federation and adheres to those same values, just not right away. You have to watch to the end. It’s a great story, and one of the only ones in a long time to make me think *wow, I can’t believe that just happened*. Plenty of those moments; give it a try.

- Not worth the money-Pray you never need customer service

After an update when set to auto play this app started playing random series and skipping all over instead of staying in the same series and just playing one episode after another. After struggling with customer service for two weeks I turned off auto renew. All customer service does is copy and paste form typed responses asking the same questions over and over again and never deals with the issue. They don’t include the email thread in their responses and don’t appear to share any information with each other when they escalate the issue. Nothing gets resolved during first contact and every time you correspond you have to re-explain every single detail. It’s not worth the money! ADDENDUM: received a copy & paste response by the app developer asking me to call them again. If I’m not happy with the first nine times why would I want to ruin my day by dealing with them again? My last three correspondences were them prattling on about how they can’t find my subscription and never dealing with the issue I contacted them about. Duh?! When I saw how crappy their app and customer service was I canceled the subscription. I’m not about to pay for crap service. That’s foolish.

- This app is so bad they should be paying ME for having to use it.

Having to pay for this crummy app is insult to injury, because it is garbage. It feels like creating it was rushed, then totally neglected after being launched. Trying to navigate it is anything but simple. (Hey CBS! The public already knows how these apps are supposed to feel, how they’re supposed to work; this one is counterintuitive and anything but smooth.) That’s only where problems begin with this app. It continues to forget that I’m a subscriber, and it actually locked me out more than once. (I don’t share my password.) The commercial traffic system the app uses seems constantly confused. It will misfire, break into shows at the wrong time, and often the viewer will have to watch shows as the PAUSE symbol displays over the action for reasons only a meth-fueled A.I. could understand. I could put up with this nonsense a little easier if I weren’t paying for this dumpster fire of an app. The developers should be embarrassed and CBS should set a higher bar. Come on, CBS. This is your face going forward, you’re capable of better, and sadly it’s a stain on your reputation. To the viewer, Hope you don’t care much about the viewing experience, or you’re going to be disappointed.

- Love the update. But

Love the new look of your app. But would love it even more if it wasn’t so glitchey. It plays for a few minutes and shuts off. Please fix this issue. And yes before you ask I’m running the latest Apple software and I have turned my phone off and back on. Hasn’t helped it. I’m updating my review to a one star. You have got to fix the issue with it shutting off in the middle of playback. This is ridiculous. I don’t want to because I enjoy Seal Team and Star Trek but it’s not worth the hassle this app has become. Yes the previous version was old and clunky but at least the dang thing worked and I could watch a complete show. You need to force your programmers to watch or attempt to watch a show and see how frustrated they get. Don’t they check to make sure it works before they send out an update? Or is that just too crazy to ask??? Update big thanks to Skfor. I deleted the app and reinstalled. It seems to have fixed the issue. Still giving it one star do to the fix came from a user and not CBS. plus have you tried the forget password link? That’s a joke you have to have your old password to reset a new one. Luckily I found my old password or I’d be back to square one

- Unmatched Quality

This app has allowed me to watch my favorite show’s episodes a few hours after it aired, which is supreme if you miss TV episodes when they air, especially if you miss it due to something you can’t control such as a breaking news announcement interrupting the show or completely taking up the slot that your show was supposed to be on air. For example, I enjoy watching “The Bold and the Beautiful”, which comes on at 1:30 pm EST. But because of the current pandemic, Covid-19, live governors’ updates concerning the novel coronavirus are aired during the slot that “The Bold and the Beautiful” comes on and takes up the ENTIRE slot the show is supposed to be on air. A few hours later (specifically at 5:30 pm EST), the episode is also uploaded to CBS. This has been really helpful in me getting to watch my favorite TV show when I can’t see it on air during its usual time. The visual quality of said episodes on this app is also great, which I sincerely appreciate.

- It’s ... something

The service gives you access to some things the question is... do you want it? In my case I want to watch Star Trek: Discovery and the app says they are available on Thursday... which they are but you’ll be waiting until prime time (for some unknown reason) in order to watch it. Why? Either let the episode fly first thing Thursday or tell us it becomes available Friday. Other successful streaming services figured this out years ago. Also, access to Big Brother cameras? How about those feeds NOT be the first thing I see when I go to watch an episode? I’d rather you not spoil my experience because I’m watching the show after a few episodes have aired. I have to cover my eyes as I try to navigate to the episodes. I don’t want to see who is still in the house on week 4 while watching episode 1. Other than these gripes, I’d say 90% of what is offered with this app I don’t use. Daytime T.V.? That’s a thing of the past, we’ve unplugged. Use that money to make shows that aren’t geared to get bored people to the next commercial break. Make shows that get people to want to pay for your service.

- Sooooooo frustrating!!!

The poor function of this app is so irritating. At first I thought it might be our internet connection but I don’t see how it could be. It takes an hour to watch a half hour episode because of the frequent stopping and loading. We stream directv now and Netflix using our Apple TV with no real issues. I could see if we were streaming a live episode but we’re watching a previously aired episode on demand. What is the issue with getting an episode to load and play through??!! I can’t believe that I’m paying for such a crappy service, but I have no other choice if I want to watch the show I want to see because CBS is not even available on directv now. At least they fixed the issue we had previously when the app would crash after one episode and would not load anything else. We were limited to watching one episode a day. Anyways, planning on canceling the subscription after the season ends next month anyway so I’ll only be out $18. Hey CBS, if you are going to take people’s money at least give them a quality product. ABC app works great and I don’t have to pay extra to use it! Unless you are a CBS super fan and just HAVE to have this app I would not recommend it.

- 6 bucks is a cup of coffee a month...

As a cord cutter this year, I actually prefer the cbs app to the nbc/abc apps. Most of the shows I watch are cbs, so I did the trial for a month. I watch maybe 3-4 stations on cable and my wife and additional four. I don’t mind paying 10 bucks for directvnow, 11 for Netflix, and 6 for CBS, instead of 89 dollars for cable for 125 channels of junk. For now this is as close as ala cart we can get. What I have learned as a cord cutter is that I watch less tv, so that’s a good thing. Binge when I can and spend more time with family, volunteering, and professional development. Watch less, live more, and make beautiful memories. Cut the cord today! App had some connection issues last night other than that no issues when I am binging at odd times. I wouldn’t mind paying 8 dollars for no commercials but I guess that means I value the 10 mins of commercials per hour at 2-4 bucks. I really should upgrade to no commercials now that I think about it, my time is worth more than 2-4 bucks for 10 minutes.

- Irresponsible app and trash service

WOULDN’T RECOMMEND THIS TRASH TO ANYONE, doesn’t even deserve any star but this system won’t let me 🙄 I signed up for the app, it gave me 1 week of free trial BUT it wouldn’t let me sign in right after I made my account, it kept stating my email ID and password were invalid so i reset my password and IT STILL DIDNT WORK (all 3 times) I called their customer service, they told me I can’t have special characters in my password so I had to reset my password without using special characters and it worked, but the next day I couldn’t access my account yet again it still gave me the “invalid ID and password” 🤷🏻‍♀️ so I reached out to them for the millionth time and they kept telling me to reset my password. A week passed they charged me for the subscription when I couldn’t even get into my account 😪. And finally they told me my password should be under 10 cases (whats with all the restriction in the password and why wouldn’t they state that from the VERY beginning, hmm suspicious) SOOOOOOOO I finally got into my cbs account and unsubscribed from this day light robbery 🙃 Oh I forgot to mention they have “no refund” policy so with all the password hassles I can see why the no refund policy exists 🙂

- I was missing CBS, I’ll I found the CBS App,

I grew up use to seeing the usual network news & TV shows. Then the internet came along, Cable TV and on demand programming. TV choices were everywhere & it became hard to find a single station with consistent quality program. Then, The New CBS App came out and Everything got much better. The New CBS app allows it so I can watch my favorite CBS programming, including the #1 rated CBS Network News, whenever I want too. Shows from Magnum, Hawaii 5-0 to the FBI, Blue Bloods, 60 Minutes and thousands of past quality programs and tons of sitcoms, Dramas, contemporary programming and the worlds most honored & independent News network. Walter Cronkite would be proud. My family and I can now watch once a week, or if we choose, power watch our favorite programming. The CBS app is intuitive, making it wash to figure out and use. If you want a combination of old school TV along with state of the art, New programming, available on demand in a simple platform, I highly recommend the CBS application. Yeah CBS and your New Application. Watching the CBS brings home to me how CBS and its programming is a part of my family, we all turn on day to day to watch, Love and enjoy sharing with our family. We Love CBS and watching TV content on the CBS Application. Yeah,,,

- Where to begin ...

The app itself on the iPhone and Apple TV is super buggy. It never recognizes my subscription and every time I want to watch anything I have to delete the App and reinstall it and then restore my iTunes purchase. Super convenient. The app will also buffer every few minutes for anywhere from a few minutes to indefinitely. This is only an issue on CBS, all other apps stream fine and my internet speed is testing at the normal levels. Frequently, it will buffer so long that the app quits and sends me back to the home page. I’ve tried on three separate nights and wasn’t able to finish a single episode because of all the buffering. When I try to restart the show it makes sure I first watch all the ads again. This leads to the best part ... ... the best part about CBS All Access is that if you purchase the “commercial free” option, you still get commercials. At least four commercial breaks in an hour long show. On other streaming platforms, if certain programs in the commercial free plan will still have commercials they let you know ahead of your purchase so you can make an informed choice as a consumer, but CBS just wants to surprise you. So thoughtful!

- Please read

I have never taken the time to write a review before, but only the extreme incompetence of this company could have motivated me so. Aside from the complete slap in the face to fans about their policies (such as not sharing Star Trek to even people who pay to watch cbs on TV), this media platform that they want to herd us into is total x!:&)!!! It always jams, every single time. It doesn’t download, which is a feature u have to pay more for. And the interface is 5 years behind every other platform, including Netflix and Prime. I have never had any of these problems with either of those companies and I strongly recommend u only use the free trial to watch Star Trek and not pay a penny for this horrible platform. It’s clearly designed by a bug of power hungry snobs looking to promote themselves who have no clue what user experience means. In this world, the key to growth is to win customers loyalty first, and then leverage profits from that loyalty. Here, CBS knows nothing of what customers want. They just try to buy shows that already have a loyalty and then use it as hostage. No originality in creating incentives. No satisfaction for the customers. I don’t know how these people take pride in their work.

- Can’t watch shows with headset paired, ANNOYING

I got the app to watch Star Trek. Fine. On my TV everything works fine. Until I tried watching it on my phone ( Where I watch it 90% of the time) I would love to watch the show with my headset paired, that way I can hear the sound effects and have some privacy. BUT I CAN’T. Because the stupid big message “now playing on Airplay” right in the middle of the screen won’t disappear every time I have my bluetooth headset paired, it keeps thinking my headset is a TV, seriously?. I already talked to my friend who works at Apple and I tried everything to fix this on phone settings but it’s an app bug. FIX IT PLEASE. ALSO, the show crashes frequently when going from one episode to another and a message “Fatal Error, due to licensing, it’s not available on your location” keeps displaying, requiring a phone reboot or app uninstall/ install. This app is a disappointment, worst app on my phone by far, you guys do not praise customers. Can’t believe I’m paying 10 dollars a month to have an app that doesn’t work with a modern Iphone with a bluetooth device paired. It’s ridiculous. Before charging people and having an app MAKE SURE IT WORKS. Cause so far it’s a scam.

- UPDATE Paying for CBS aside, the app is awful

It’s been many months since the original review. And, it gets worse. I cannot begin to understand how DOWNLOADED episode exhibit streaming / buffering artifacts. And, the fact there is no PIP or jump forward even after all this time is an insult to paying customers. Streaming services and apps have been around for a decade. Picture is picture about half that. Why is it every streaming app can handle the basics except for this one? No PIP means you are locked into a video and no way to do something as simple as responding to a text without exiting. And, upon return you have to spend a fair amount of tine finding the correct episode and position within the episode. For example, I am binging on a show now, when I enter the app, the Recently Viewed section shows episodes from a season I a am done with and had watched days earlier - having watched several others since. The scrubber doesn’t work. You can move the slider, but it does not change the position in the video. I don’t necessarily mind paying CBS for commercial free. But, the full back catalog should be available, and the app must not be aggravating and user hostile.

- Fairly typical TV app, but occasional freezes

The CBS all-access works fairly well, can be used to find network programming and watch it and watch live TV. I e had a couple of issues I’d like to see fixed, though. First, after playing a downloaded show for a while (~30 min), the show video will freeze for about 3 seconds while audio continues. Everything work again and the video will start again properly synced with audio, but advanced to the current audio position. Then both will work for a few seconds before the next freeze a few seconds later. I’ve only been able to fix this by killing the app (swipe up) and restart and that doesn’t always work. The second issue is that I have trouble with some shows. For example, I received a push notification that CBS Sunday Morning’s latest episode was available, but when I go to watch, the app says there’s an error and it cannot find the show. Not sure if this is a transient to more serious problem.

- Not worth the hassle!

We got the app on our Xbox to watch local news. We have had the app over a year now and at first it was great! The last 3 months have been a joke!!! I turned it on one day and the local was a town 4 hours south of us. I spent over 2 weeks trying to contact someone to get this fixed- what a joke that was! Over 40 phone calls, 25 emails and finally got someone that fixed it - for 3 weeks. Now every time we want local we have to unplug the router uninstall the app plug in and re install and hope we get some channel close to us! Depending on the time of day depends if our local channel is 3hours northeast or 4 hours south of us. We have yet to hear from someone about fixing this. We tried it on our new Xbox and the same thing happens- I have quad cities on one Xbox and Madison on the other! How does this happen??? No one has an answer and it takes forever to get help. I do have a free month - but am still getting charged as the free month has yet to come. It was great at first, but these last few months it’s been a joke! Will be deleting the app and going with a different channel.

- Bug fixes

I’m a big fan of CBS and all their content which is why I have All Access. I cannot write a reviews on pre-released versions of iOS (but I can on other devices with released iOS!), but I want you to be aware that your video player crashes on BOTH iOS 13.0 and 13.1 betas. It doesn’t matter if it’s streaming on WiFi, streaming on cellular or from downloaded content - videos crash after 2-3 minutes. And even if ~3minutes does play prior to crashing, the CBS app (and AppleTV app) will not update its new time stamp of where to resume. It seems like this issue appeared once v7.0 was released in conjunction with an iOS 13.0 beta. I even hopped on the unexpected iOS 13.1 beta in hopes that this issue was fixed but the same app crashing in the middle of video playing kept occuring. Just a FYI that we are days away from iOS 13 being fully released to public and would be a shame to not have a fix in place, especially those who paid. I know I run my own risk of testing beta iOS releases but I enjoy giving the necessary feedback.

- Worst App

I have this app on Roku and my phone. It’s the worst app I’ve ever seen. I don’t write reviews, it’s a waste of time. But when some greedy company is trying to force me to upgrade because of constant commercials, I retaliate. I feel it is my civic duty to let the world know. Precursor, I can handle commercials, but when it promises to play “4 adds” and it plays the same “Real Real” add four times, “Duracell” add three times, and “Revelon”make up two more times in the same promises “4 add” time allotment. There is something wrong. Worst yet, after all the adds play, the video reloads at the wrong spot often a portion of the video you already watched, before the adds, This often results in an infinite loop because the commercials are then re-triggered. I wish I was joking. After seeing the same commercials nearly 10 loops in a row. This actually does the opposite affect, I want nothing to do with any of the advertisers. Way to go CBS. Instead of sending people to prison let’s make them watch a show on the CBS app. CBS has invented a new form of torture. Very unhappy. Will end subscription soon and encourage everyone I know to do the same until this issue is fixed.

- Crashes, loses spot, makes you watch unnecessary commercials

If I could give this app 0 stars, I would. When I use this app with Chromecast, it constantly crashes and not only does the app crash, it causes my Chromecast to crash as well. Then when everything comes back up, it doesn’t start your show at the same spot AND makes you watch commercials before it even starts at the wrong spot, then chances are you’re gonna have to fast forward thru a scheduled commercial break and then you’re gonna have to wait for those as well. It’s ridiculous. Such a horrible bug needs to be fixed and be fixed NOW. Then there’s the horrible lack of certain content. If people are paying for this service, ALL of the CBS library should be available. I imagine a lot of people want a CBS service so they can watch shows like The Big Bang Theory. Welp. Sorry. YOU ONLY GET 5 EPISODES. Are you kidding me? One of their most popular shows and you can only watch the last 5 episodes?? Do your fans a favor and give them the content they want instead of asking for more money on top of the money you already ask for the streaming service. Horrible.

- Not at all what I expect from CBS

I subscribed to this app because there are some past shows that I would like to watch. Imagine my disappointment upon learning that only some episodes of shows are offered. Really CBS? You want me to pay for an app that the other broadcast networks offer for free, then limit the episodes available? Plus, you haven’t taken the time to redo the shows that are offered to play clearly in HD! The quality of shows from the 80s and 90s is laughable. I’m talking about freezing video, pixelation of the video, etc. I am actually glad to be able to find some of these shows that aren’t offered anywhere else. But I’m not sure the lack of a full episode offering and the low quality of the video offered is worth the expense of a paid subscription. And while it’s true that the cost is not high, it’s the principle that a broadcast network would be money-grubbing enough to only offer a paid subscription service, then not actually take the money received from those paid subscriptions to do the necessary remastering of the shows to bring them up to current quality standards. Shame on you CBS!

- What’s the Point

I am extremely disappointed with the CBS app. The only reason I purchased it was to watch and support the new Star Trek Discovery series. I really have no significant interest in streaming other CBS shows since I can watch them in prime time. It is not an exaggeration that this is the worst network app available. Not only am I paying a monthly premium to use this app because it’s the only way to watch this Star Trek series, but for this particular series, the app often stops, pauses, freezes and at times only audio is available. For six episodes, I have been dealing with this and my frustration is now at its peak. Like so many who have commented on the App Store, I am completely fed up and will be dropping my subscription and deleting the app. And it’s truly a shame because this Star Trek series has been very entertaining. However, I can no longer support it because a 45 min episode takes over an hour and a half to watch since the streaming stops so often or I am forced to reboot the app. Honestly, CBS should just air the show in prime time and save the series which will likely lose viewers due to disgruntled, fed up fans.

- UPDATE to post, Very disappointing!

I have included an update to this post below. The application fails to load episodes in a timely fashion if at all. The episodes often skip back one or two seconds repeatedly during regular viewing. The episodes often freeze and stop playback stuck on the loading wheel. This problem is not resolved if you purchase the commercial free plan. Use of this application was very, VERY frustrating. Commercial free access worked on my computer without a hitch on the webpage. This application needs very serious work done to it. UPDATE. I received an immediate response to this post from the developer thanking me for my patience, and assuring me that the bugs had been resolved. They were correct. So far the bugs have been resolved and the application works well. I am changing my review to 3 stars for now. If the application continues to function well when my internet is under load this weekend I will most likely raise my rating to four stars. I do appreciate prompt courteous responses.

- Why Pay For Network TV?

I've been impressed with all the other network apps but was sorely disappointed with this one. Considering there are commercials and they don't have full runs of many shows, it seems even more ridiculous that it's a paid subscription. Even the cable apps don't force you to pay extra if you're already paying for cable. I could see - MAYBE - having a separate subscription app for commercial free full run classic shows and new material like Star Trek Discovery. But honestly, all the other networks are streaming full run classics for free in their main app. CBS has nearly always had my least favorite programming and making people pay on top of it, well, it's too much. I very much wanted to support the new Star Trek - especially considering the cast and crew involved - but unfortunately CBS has made it so I can't without supporting far more than I think is right. My only hope is that CBS will see their failure is in their delivery and not in the content of the first show in over a decade I've had any interest in on this channel that always seems to be directed at someone's grandma or maiden aunt.

- This is my least favorite streaming app

I don’t like to write negative reviews but my wife and I have been using this app to watch some of our favorite shows recently and it has quickly become our least favorite streaming app. First off, it is hard to find shows period. Then if you are in the middle of a series, the continue watching section doesn’t allow for you to watch the episode you’re on from the beginning or to view more episodes. To do that you have to search for the show, go to the show homepage and scroll through all the episodes to find the one you want. Also fast forwarding and rewinding is nearly impossible. Or if we resume an episode that we had turned off at a commercial break it will always play about 10-15 seconds before the commercials then make you watch the commercials all over again. Recently it’s also been freezing mid-commercial and anytime we close the app and restart it, it does the same thing. The only fix is to use a different device. And it’s not happening on the same device each time. Overall, I loveCBS shows but nothing their app.

- Double charge did not provide Service promised through AppleTV and iTunes

I bought the limited commercials version in February through my Apple TV and iTunes account. It worked fine, enjoyed the new Star Trek series And decided to upgrade to the commercial free. I thought it didn’t work because I never got it commercial free until May 1. It turns out that I was being billed for both the limited commercial and commercial free but was only getting the limited commercial and still having to sit through ads. I discovered on May 2 that I had a billing set up for $5.99 and around $10 for June 2 For both commercial and no commercial services. I had signed up around February 11. Take me about an hour to chat with my tunes Representative to get the 5.99 removed And today I have to sign up for the whole service again on my AppleTV. No wonder I was getting double billed and not getting the services I requested and paid for for four months. Tried to call CBS no luck. I think I’m gonna skip the service and just figure I’ve spent My time and money and unwisely and learn from it. Good luck if you go for the service.

- It does have good content

I have had cbs all access for about 8 months. It’s ok. I however assumed “all access” meant all the shows. But it only has the latest season on some or first couple seasons and the last one. I really would like to be able to watch the whole series. On another note, when I first started watching there was a continue watching list at the top, it is gone. Most annoying for me,however, is it used to have a restart option now that’s gone. If you happen to get distracted and it auto plays next episode you can not rewind it because it will start in same place. You have to back out and select that episode play it then you can rewind to restart. Please bring back restart option. I like the cbs shows and like that I can stream when I want. Just need it to be more friendly. Would also like to be able to watch all the past seasons if the shows that are on there.

- So I apparently can’t restore purchases from Apple’s App Store...

I wish I could use the app to rate it but it keeps telling me I used to be a registered subscriber (which is odd since this is my first time using any subscription service) and it insists I set up a new subscription that I just paid $9.99 for through Apple. Also when I got through the web to try to validate my Apple subscription there, I get the same message: subscribe to a service I already paid for. So I’ll watch what’s available the the Apple TV app and cancel it so I’m not being billed for a service that doesn’t allow me full access from a third party app that’s apparently not able to access the app as advertised. I can always get whatever it is I want to see at some later date when it comes out as home media on DVD’s and Blu-Ray. There’s no point to subscribing at the full monthly price for limited access to the service. The two stars are for the little available on Apple TV which isn’t everything in the CBS library’s catalogue if I’m looking for reruns over original content.

- Downloaded episodes don’t stream offline

Wow this app needs some work! First let’s talk about how a season of a show just disappeared by the time I subscribed for the service (within a few days), especially after I subscribed for the sole purpose of watching that show. Why isn’t there more than one season of certain shows available? I think this needs to be included if you are paying for all access. Second and the most annoying part of this app. The download and watch offline function. If an episode is downloaded and watched from the “download” section it should not be using data to play this. Well this app definitely doesn’t have that part built in correctly. In fact even though I downloaded and watch only from the downloaded section, my cell phone carrier tells me I used up all my data for the month within a matter of days and in fact went over my data limit. This never happens with any other streaming service. In addition, I tried to go to my settings and turn off cellular data so my data wouldn’t be used for streaming and then went back to the app. The app then says you are offline and can watch downloaded content. I click on the view downloads and it take me to my downloaded episodes page. I click in on episode to play and it gives me the same error saying I am offline and can only watch downloaded content. Isn’t that what I am doing??! This is very frustrating and this needs to be fixed ASAP. This app needs a lot of work.

- Unfortunately this app unstable on iPhone 6s

I signed up for CBS All Access primarily for UEFA soccer, but also since my Mom really wanted to watch The Good Fight. The app does allow casting to a larger screen via Apple’s Lightning-to-Digital adapter, which was a must-feature to stay subscribed. But unfortunately this app crashes repeatedly on my iPhone 6s. This occurred both before and after upgrading to the latest iOS. It is particularly frequent when watching UEFA soccer highlights; the odds of completing a 10 minute match highlight video without the video stopping abruptly due to a crash is maybe 60%. Crashing commonly occurs while watching longer drama series episodes but perhaps one typically gets 40 minutes of viewing in before the next crash. Of a dozen or more streaming apps on my 6s, CBS is in its own class of instability and crashing. Nothing else comes close at all, a crash is exceedingly rare for other apps. Disappointed at such bad quality from a major network. My iPhone 6s still works great for everything except this CBS app.

- Shuts off by itself during shows

I only use the app for the free shows that I miss on TV. I have not been able to complete a single show on the CBS app since the new fall season began as each time I'm watching, suddenly the app shuts off and I’m on my home screen. When I open up the app again, there is no memory that I made any progress into the show and have to start at the beginning. I see in the reviews that people who pay for the app are having trouble too. Not impressed. UPDATE: After not being able to complete a single episode (I’ve only tried half-hour shows so far) I decided to uninstall and reinstall the app. Since the re-install, I was able to watch two full half-hour shows without the app quitting. I’m holding at a tentative 3 stars (up from 1 star). I will raise my rating if I am able to watch, later in the week, the few full-hour shows I did not give up on for this season.

- Don't get if you don't care about Discovery

I don't write reviews but in this case I absolutely had to. I subscribed because I'm an avid Star Trek fan and I wanted to catch the new series. That being said, if you like any of CBS's regular network shows, don't expect to watch much of them. I like The Big Bang Theory. Imagine my surprise when I find that you only get to watch episodes from the current season. This is the case with many of their shows, some of which aren't even on the service. Add to that the fact that Discovery is released on a weekly basis and not dropped an entire season at a time and you have a business model that says, "Hey pay us at least $7 a month (with commercials) to watch your show that you can't binge in it's entirety." At least in other countries you can watch Discovery on Netflix. Hey CBS, thanks for the slap in the face. The worst part, I'm probably still going to keep paying it until the season is over because I want to watch my show. Better not ever cancel Star Trek again, because you won't have any subscribers. I'm ashamed to be giving you my money.

- Horrible App

I never write reviews, but I feel compelled to share feedback on this one. There are a lot of apps for watching streaming and downloaded movies and shows. This is by far the WORST app I’ve used. I downloaded and PAID to use this app so we could watch older episodes of Survivor. I waste at least 10 - 15 minutes every single time I want to watch an episode. The app will not play any video. I’m connected directly from my iPhone to my TV via an Apple HDMI adapter. I have to disconnect the adapter, reboot my phone, launch the app, kill the app, try again two or three times and if I’m lucky it will play one episode. 5 minutes into playing it pauses. Every single time. And yes, when we’re done with one episode, I have to repeat this entire process to watch another. Any of my other movie or TV apps, I can open them and instantly use them. I’ve tried deleting my downloads and deleting and reinstalling the app. No joy. Hopefully the developers will fix it at some point. For now, if you can find your content with a different app provider I recommend you do so.

- Nothing Loads

Now I love CBS for the shows and everything they offer, but the app bothers me way more than it should. I have a subscription with cable that has CBS so naturally I linked the accounts expecting to watch live TV as if I was at home when I wasn’t. Well that’s not the case I have to pay for All Access on top of cable. Not to mention that there’s an absurd amount of ads on the app while watching shows. They seem to never end. Ignoring all of that though there’s the prime issue that nothing ever loads. I’ll watch my shows a day late since apparently watching live (even when watching live is advertised) isn’t possible. However, I go in to watch my shows and they’ll play for about 10 seconds then freeze then play for another 30 and freeze and I can never actually get through an entire show because the first 5 min take about 20 min to get through between freezing and ads. The ads seem to load and play better than the actual shows. It’s a shame that such a great station can’t even make a functional app for people to use without issue.

- CBS AllAccess

Sluggish UI/UX. While scrolling through titles, many instances where it freezes momentarily before catching up and then it passes by intended selection. Frequent crashes but most of the time it needs to be zapped completely in order to resume sluggish scrolling. Once selected title starts, it's fine, haven't experienced any crashes mid-show. Unlike Netflix (and every other streaming service), everytime I continue watching a series, I must select the next episode. Next, if I watch 10 minutes of a program and decide I don't like it, it os added to "shows you watch"? why?? even worse, there's no simple way to remove title from this section. ridiculous. Please address these issues. For $10/mo, I expect a good experience with an intuitive interface. This isn't what this household is getting. //EDIT: please do not reply with a recycled, generic reply asking to contact you. that shows you really don't care. just fix your buggy app and address the experience (or I'll cancel and download the shows from Kodi). you owe that to all your paying customers.

- Like but need help keeping the app working

I’ve had the app for awhile and have paid for no commercials I use this on my iPhone X. Loved being able to watch current and past shows especially some that are no longer on tv I wish the other stations had the option we have cable but can never get our cable to hook up with the apps to sign in so I can always watch cbs. About three or four months ago I could get on the app and watch the shows then it would exit out of the app for no reason I’ve had to stop watching since it plays for a few minutes then quits on me including live tv or downloaded shows I’ve tried sending message for feedback but exits out for that also I’ve sent one message but can’t get response wish I could get it to work again like it did before and I would give it 5 stars especially if they would put all seasons of current shows and past shows back on

- Not getting what you pay for

I have chosen to “cut the cord” so watch shows using network apps like the CBS app is the way to view network content. The Apple TV CBS app is very buggy. When you finish watching an episode it displays suggestions to watch next. If you go back to the menu, these suggestions stay on screen. Even if you leave the app to go to the TV app to select a new show using the Up Next feature. I regularly have to force close the app and restart to correct. The app doesn’t have good connectivity with Apple’s Up Next. All other networks want you to sign in to your TV subscriber to activate their entire lineup. And if you pay for limited commercials All Access subscription CBS still makes you wait 24 hrs to view new content. And their impression of limited commercials seems to be about the same as if you were watching live. I guess they figure they already offer limited commercials on their network. Live Streaming has its limitations and the video quality is not the great.

- Missing picture-in-picture on iOS 14!

This app is fine. Most of the time I can watch what I want. Picture-in-picture (available on all devices with iOS 14) is a really missed feature though. So many competing apps have it, so I’m really looking forward to this being added. 🤞 Bugs take too long to fix though. Lots of paying users (including myself) spent a good portion of the last few weeks with the text: “Now Playing On Airplay” across the center of our iPad and/or iPhone screens, when connected to wireless headphones. Support initially acted like they cared (after I contacted them) but went radio silent until the fix was in and pushed to production. So many complaints were logged (here in the app store reviews) and the developers pretended that it wasn’t really an issue. I don’t think it was even acknowledged. Scroll back a couple of weeks and you’ll see what I mean. I have also noticed that many of the reviewers that report issues or have suggestions are ignored by the developers. It seems like they only comment on the reviews with praise for the app. It’s understandable that they can’t reply to every review, but here’s to hoping serious issues (if they do come up in the future) will be addressed quicker. Minus one star for my less than desirable CS experience and one more for no picture-in-picture. Will gladly update review if/when these are addressed.

- No geolocation No live stream

If for any reason this app can’t determine the geolocation of a device it will not stream live video. In my case I’m using a WiFi only iPad Air G3 in a rural area. The Apple Location Services, for whatever reason, can not determine the geolocation of my device. Instead of live streaming based on my last known geolocation or defaulting to my home location, the app pops up a screen which tells me to enable Location Services which are already enabled and ironically have told the app the geolocation can not be found. Have called there Customer Service and sent numerous emails hoping they’d tell me the issue has been escalated to there App Development team and fixed in a future release, but I’m told over and over again that I need to enable Location Services for the App. Use to be TV broadcasters would fight for eyes on the screen, but CBS with this app is telling me to go watch SYFY because they don’t know where I am... CBS app and their customer service needs some major improvements if they ever hope to make it in the streaming world....

- Still my FAVORITE TV app!

The CBS TV app has become my most favorite of all TV apps out there. The only downside is commercials but I can handle that since everything else is so good. I love it because it is not conditional to have cable or a subscription to access it. I can watch all my regular CBS shows remotely. No other network (ABC and NBC) allows me to do that. Since dropping our cable and going to streaming services, CBS rose and remains at the top for allowing me to watch my favorite shows. *PS. Awhile back there was an issue with this app, delaying and not allowing me to watch easily. It caused me to be frustrated and write a less than positive review. I received a personal response from the one who designed the app. Most impressive! I have since taken down the negative review. THANK YOU for paying attention and consistency to detail!

- Disappointing service with all access

Like many others, I am unimpressed with the streaming reality of CBS All-access. I used to not have the same issues but of late, not an episode goes by without having to stop & wait, hoping that will initiate it starting again. I’d been told (by CBS person chat) that I should restart my modem, so I did. That may have worked for about a nano-second or 10, but I find it interesting that none of my other streaming programs on other apps have that issue so if it was a modem issue might it not translate to them as well? Anyway, I enjoy some shows so I continue to muck about with it but not impressed with paying for this type of service. Please work it out, CBS or at the very least don’t charge extra for the service!

- ROKU and CBS app problem

I was having difficulty getting ROKU to let me log in to my CBS All Access account which I have had on my iPad for several months. ROKU chat person “Jasmine” (doubt it was her real name) was not helpful. She kept asking the same questions and didn’t seem to understand my issue. Next I tried CBS, and after about 40 minutes on hold, “Bruce” tried to help me. He was very nice and we tried several things but to no avail. Finally I gave up. I decided to logout of the CBS app, delete it and load it again. This time when I logged back in to set it up I found a setting for “other devices” and with a drop down menu and selected ROKU. I then went to ROKU and this time I was able to successfully complete my sign in. I now have CBS on both my iPad and my TV via ROKU. So I solved my own problem. Too bad the tech support people at ROKU & CBS couldn’t have figured out what a 71 yr old woman managed to do all on her own! 🤦🏼‍♀️

- Password entry at signup and login not very user friendly

Just about every app has a password verification step in the process of setting up a password, you enter it once, then again and the app makes sure they match. For some reason CBS decided to skip that part. Naturally the password I thought I typed in was not what I actually typed in and I needed to immediately do a reset. In this day and age when ‘abc123’ is really not a good password and you now have these long archaic passwords, the extra step to make sure you did it right the first time would be nice. Second thing, why disable the ability to PASTE in a password? My bank, credit card and just about every other app lets me do a paste, why must CBS be so secure that they disable this? Very annoying and not very customer friendly. I believe my 5 minute lock out has now expired, lets see if I can now log in to the app and start watching programs...

- Riddled with issues and poorly designed

The main issue I have with this app is that it will sometimes say I do not have a connection or just completely freeze requiring me to close it out and then restart it which may need to be done multiple times. The bigger issue is the design. Nothing is intuitive. I am trying to watch one show: Star Trk Discovery. The app doesn’t learn. It doesn’t put that as a top show and it took me about a week to realize I could set as part of my cbs. This should be front and center. If I am in the middle of an episode sometimes it will let me “continue watching” but not always. I often have to go searching for it again (before I figured out the my cbs setting). Overall it would be nice to be able to set favorite shows that I have easy access to more intuitively. I will watch what I want then cancel and resubscribe when I find something else I want.

- Star Trek:Discovery is AMAZING, unlike this app

First things first - Star Trek: Discovery is INCREDIBLE. Though I'll have no need whatsoever for this app once the show goes on hiatus and will definitely cancel my subscription. HOWEVER (1) Yes I bought in. I wish I didn't have to in order to see something I love. From you, a NETWORK. The government gave you the airwaves for free and you've profited off of that for decades. Now you're making us pay extra to subscribe to your content. That's disgustingly greedy. Oh - and if you don't pay the premium amount, the ads are AWFUL and NUMEROUS. Message received, CBS. (2) In terms of playback, this is literally the worst streaming app I've ever used. When you switch from chromecast back to phone to go check your laundry, it loses your place. The progress/scan bar BARELY works if you want to skip ahead or forward (doesn't keep track of how much you're scanning ahead, so you have to guess - that is, when it even works at all). With Apple TV, it either hiccups or shuts off completely when you leave the video screen on your phone. This app is maddening. AND I have to pay for it. So - corporate greed, plus crappy streaming. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a network trying to gauge us for extra profits. If it weren't for Star Trek (god knows the rest of your unrealistic cop-show lineup is godawful), this review would be less than one star. That's how good Star Trek: Discovery is.

- Falls short of the other streaming services.

I would upgrade this rating to five star as I enjoy a slew of CBS prime time shows BUT the inability to remove programs from “Shows I Watch” is incredulous. If I try a new show and don’t like it there is no way to remove that show. This seems to be a way that CBS will manipulate their viewership and pad their stats. I’ve had CBS All Access since it’s inception and they originally had a method to remove them. Ive also taken their survey where they asked if it would be an added benefit but still no change. Make the app more personalized and I’ll probably try more shows instead of reviewing them elsewhere to avoid loading up shows I Don’t Watch in the Shows I Watch section. Update: The app continues to underperform. The inconsistencies in the experience between platforms is also poor. I’ll be canceling soon. I’m hoping HBO Max has the content to compete w CBS and actually that’s probably not going to be a problem. They also don’t seem to respond to any suggestions...

- Doesn’t work, no tech support - updated

Update: it's been almost 3 weeks, cbs tech support does not attempt to help if you are subscribed through iTunes. and if they can't get their app to work, I can't trust cbs' security with my credit card info. --- previous review: Always problems with this app, freezing, buffering, crashes, skipping last segment of show so have to watch all the commercials again. Waiting 2+ years for them to fix it. Finally decided only “fix” would be to upgrade to the “commercial free” option. No. still getting 3-7 ads, 4-5x every episode as is in the “limited commercial” plan. The app can’t figure out how to process an upgrade even though same app “confirms purchase”. Hours wasted going through all of the troubleshooting steps to confirm it is not a problem with my devices or account. CBS support could not figure out how to help. All the other apps can figure out how to stream and process iTunes purchases, you’d think a big company like CBS could figure it out too. Not yet.

- Great Programming - App interface Needs Improvements

I love the programming on this app. I don’t really like the app interface. I really want a favorites or watchlist instead of relying on the the recent episodes list. I also don’t like that when you chose a recent episode, it takes you right into it instead of the shows main page. E.g. Sometimes I can’t find the show i want in any of the quick lists. I would like to see shows main menu so I can watch any missed episodes before the most current one listed plays. I would also like a row of recently added shows. The top of the app scrolls some new shows, but it would be helpful to be able to find all new shows in order of most recently released. The most important request is to add a watchlist/favorites on the main screen that I can control, and I’ll be happy. Thank you:)

- Entire series not available

We stream everything with Apple and Fire tv's, so the only way we can watch The Big Bang Theory is by subscribing to this app. We weren't able to watch the last three episodes of season 10 while we were moving to another state, and found it very irritating that when we were able to finally catch up, there were no episodes available. For a paid subscription, it sure would be nice to be able to watch all of the most recent season so you can catch up before a new one premiers. Also, it would be nice to have access to college football games from this app. We tried last season and ended up having to subscribe to some other CBS service for $10mo, and it never even worked. Aside from content, I've never had a problem with streaming and it was easy to change my subscription to no commercials from the Apple TV app settings.

- DO NOT DOWNLOAD!

I downloaded this app on February of 2020 for the sole purpose of watching Picard. There was a one month free trial and then it was supposed to be $9.99 a month after that. I tried cancelling this account after the free trial ended - and I thought I did because I could no longer access it on my Apple TV to watch anything. It’s now OCTOBER of 2020 and I have been billed $9.99 every month since March. I cannot get ahold of customer service, trying to talk to someone from apple support (who supposedly developed the app) is impossible with all the hoops you need to go through on their site (why do they think a series of a million questions about ‘troubleshooting’ is easier than giving a phone number or email to an actual customer service representative?). I have tried to change my credit card TWICE but the purchase somehow is still going through. I actually got through to someone in MAY and had a case number opened to resolve my issue. I HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM SINCE. I cannot say whole heartedly enough - DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP.

- CBS app & website don’t work

All I wanted to do was watch one episode of 60 minutes that aired on June 16, 2019. Should be simple, right? Think again. Started by trying to login to my cable provider on the CBS firestick app. App Did not allow that and wanted me to subscribe to CBS to view content, even though I pay for it through cable. Tried accessing it via CBS website and had the same issue. Tried the iPad app and it allowed me to connect my provider but still forced me to subscribe and pay for CBS separately to view the content. Finally gave in, created an account and started a free trial in order to watch the episode. Clicked to view the episode in the iPad app and the app crashed every time. Went back to attempt to watch the section clip or the full episode on the web browser and both failed to load — even after multiple refreshes and new browser sessions. 45minutes of my life I will never get back. It’s almost as if CBS is wanting to keep people from viewing their content. Such a waste of time.

- Almost totally amazing

I love this app. I love CBS. I love, love, love Star Trek: Discovery. Why are the subtitles so bad? They’re almost always so far behind the quick-fire dialogue that it’s easier to pretend I know what space-opera technobabble words they’re saying than to see it on even a 5-seconds-too-short-delay. It’s soo much to read before it disappears. Seriously, tho, the subtitles need lots of work and I’m sure it isn’t easy. Otherwise the app is amazing. Thank you! To those who want to “punish” this app by boycotting Star Trek. Grow up maybe? Digital streaming media is the future (really the present) and CBS is blazing new trails with Star Trek. If you want to see more Trek, you need to pay for the app. Don’t cut off MY nose to spite YOUR face. If you love Trek, this is how you get it. How many of you donated money to keep Enterprise alive? I mean, c’mon. And DISCO is a prequel that’s actually worthy of the property.

- Long time CBS All Access Subscriber, until now...

I have always had the commercial free CBS All Access since it was announced, and it has been pretty good, until now. Just the other day, they have stated airing CBS-promo commercials every 5 minutes or so during my previously commercial-free programming. Want to know the worst part? The commercials play at 5 times the volume of the show I was watching, scaring my dog, waking up my neighbors, and requiring me to be constantly adjusting the volume up and down every couple of minutes. The BLARINGLY LOUD commercials are the end of the road for me. Cancelling my subscription and done with most CBS programming. I’ll go back to buying the one or two shows I *need* as a season pass on iTunes, which saves money on an annual basis, and most importantly, less revenue for CBS! I encourage all of you on the commercial-free plan to vote with your wallets and do the same. They could have left the volume the same and I probably would have put up with it, but 5x louder commercials are totally obnoxious. Bye!

- 4.5 stars?

My wife and I were excited and looking forward to watching Picard. Signed up for CBS All Access, downloaded the app, downloaded episode 1, and... 10 minutes in it froze and went black! Deleted, re-downloaded, 10 minutes in froze and went black. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, downloaded the episode, and guess what? Ten minutes in it froze and went black. Tried streaming and we only made it 8 minutes in before it froze and went black. Tried episode two. This one played for 5 minutes then the screen froze while the dialogue continued. This continued for 10 minutes into the episode before it froze and went black. What’s funny is I see there’s a lot of these same complaints from all the way back to CBS All Access’ launch in 2014. What’s also funny is the App Store says reviews average to a very satisfactory 4.5 stars, but all I’ve been seeing are two stars or less with a lot of the same complaints I’m listing here. Save yourself the frustration. Wait for your show to come out on Blu-Ray.

- Horrible

Update 2- missing my regular shows due to impeachment hearings. I can’t get those back because I refuse to pay twice for CBS. I pay for it with my cable, why should I pay for it in the app? NBC and many others don’t charge. I can log in with my cable info. Even premium channels. Come on CBS. Update- I am a little over a month behind on Y&R due to moving. Watched where I left off yesterday, log in today and those episodes are gone. Only less than two weeks available. Really don't like the fact that I had zero notice. Not like anyone at CBS cares as no one every responds to support. I only give 1 star because 0 is not an option. If you read all of these "reviews", I am apparently the o my person on the planet that dislikes this app. I have it on an iPad, iPhone and Samsung tablet. I even try to use it on my laptop. I can. It even get through one episode without there being some kind of issue. CBS is having technical difficulties, my video is temporarily unavailable, etc. please fix.

- awful and glitchy

I downloaded the CBS app simply to watch Survivor and Bug Brother, and that’s about it. My experience with this app has been horrible. I can’t go one episode without a glitch. The latest problem I’ve had to deal with is the episodes CONSTANTLY pausing for no reason, and I can’t do anything except wait for it to unpause. Before this, the app would’ve received maybe 3 stars, but now it’s unbearable and if it weren’t for the fact that this is the only way I can watch Survivor, it would’ve been deleted from my phone by now. What pisses me off even more is that it works perfectly when playing a commercial. I don’t mind having to deal with commercials, but when I can barely go 30 seconds in an episode without it pausing like I mentioned before, it’s a little annoying when I can sit through a minute’s worth of commercials without trouble. I don’t know what to do at this point, because I’m getting awfully tired of the constant problems that just seem to get worse. Please do something.

- So much wrong

1 - CBS advertises the ability to see old episodes. They don’t tell you, some - not all. If you want to start a show, Young Sheldon for example, from the beginning, you cannot. You can only watch the current season. Other old shows are missing episodes. Buyer beware. 2 - This app crashes on the regular. I have great WiFi and up-to-date tech, so that is not the issue. They will say it’s a “you” problem, it is not - my guess is that things were done on the cheap to maximize profits. Their flagship original programming should not be showcased on such an embarrassingly underperforming app - remember you are paying for the privilege constantly restart the app. 3 - I was interested in new Star Trek content. Meh. I gave it a shot, they are just ok. I get that people love it, blessing to them, I was unwhelmed. Obviously an opinion, see for yourself. 4 - In the early days of television networks were given the use of the airways for free. CBS broadcast all there original shows for free, and made money from advertisers. Now they are making double money to charge you to watch the shows and see more commercials - or pay more to skip them. Seems wrong somehow. I gave a fair shot against my better judgement. 1 month was plenty of time to find out that it’s just not worth it. I hope your experiences turn out better than mine. There are a lot of 5 star ratings so many people must like it - either that or CBS employs a lot of people who rate themselves!

- Wish other networks would follow suit

I gave up cable/ satellite 2 years ago. At first it was frustrating to see how little I could find for network tv to not see the growth in streaming content ... and then came CBS All Access. I LOVE it! Yes, there has been times where glitches and bugs were an issue, but they have always been handled... unlike NBC (ugh let’s not get me started down that path). I love the live feature and have yet to find a major network offer live feed that actually works and doesn’t crash. Star Trek is a bonus but other great shows keep us coming back for more. If I had one complaint.... it would be that certain shows full seasons aren’t available. But I can look past that considering the consistency of CBS verses others.

- Stunningly bad

$5.99 a month is not a lot of money in general. It’s a real lot of money for a single tv channel though. So if CBS is going to charge that kind of money, surely they should be able to provide an app to support it that is more than a piece of crap, which is what this app is. It is problem after problem. Sometimes it just won’t stream content at all. Sometimes it stops streaming in the middle of a show and just freezes. Then in order to get it started you have to back out and resume, and it doesn’t remember where you were so it takes you back to the beginning of the show. This I suppose is good for them since you are then forced to watch all of the advertisements. Again. I can draw only one conclusion, which is that CBS simply doesn’t give a crap about their customers. Otherwise they would provide an app that made entertainment enjoyable, novel concept, right? It’s sad because I like their shows, after about a year of constant frustration, I’m throwing in the towel.

- Pay to watch?!?!

Ok, so let me get this straight...CBS is a network that I can watch for free on my TV. For several reasons there are some times it is inconvenient to watch live however. So I download the app thinking I'm still going to get free over-the-air network TV like usual. Instead I find out that I have to pay $6 a month AND watch commercials to see regular network TV. Yeah, to some people $6 is only a coffee, but for me $6 is money I don't have to waste on something that should be free. I could see paying $6 for the option of commercial free viewing, but paying to watch commercials seems like CBS just wants to get paid twice. That's just greedy and ridiculous. The crap that CBS generally puts out means they should pay ME to watch their shows and support their advertisers. However, they expect me to pay for the privilege of watching the one show I like of theirs. I'll just wait for the seasons to come out on Netflix or something similar. I definitely won't pay to watch free over-the-air network TV.

- Numerous errors & reinstalls, zero support

This app is great when it works. But every time I return, I get this error: “Video unavailable - due to licensing restrictions, video isn’t available for streaming outside your country”. It makes little sense, since I’m not outside my country. I’ve tried logging out and back in, checked all my settings for something that might be blocking my location. There’s nothing. The only thing that works is to delete the app and reinstall. Then it works until I stop watching. Come back the next day... lather, rinse, repeat. I’m not changing any settings in between. More frustrating is that the support tab only leads to a “send feedback” link that yields “No Mail Accounts - please set up a mail account in order to send email.” On this same error screen, my email address is clearly visible in the background. If there were some sort of support available, I’d have left this info there instead of in a review.

- Pay to watch ads

I signed up for the free trial (to watch Star Trek - bravo to CBS for a well made and entertaining show) and I’m now being charged for the app, however there are too many issues for me to currently consider keeping my subscription; The landing page needs improvement as it’s hard to select the last show/episode you watched, or to pick up where you last left off on a show. I’ve had some video glitches but overall nothing too bothersome as the picture and sound is usually good. I don’t like that the player has no forward or rewind buttons (e.g. 10 seconds) as trying to do it manually is difficult and annoying. The biggest issue though is that the paid app has ads, and a ridiculous amount of them at that. If you get an app for free, you live with the ads, but to show so many ads in a paid version makes no sense.

- Playback program is terrible

How can one of the biggest TV companies with one of the best lineups have such a terrible performing app? I like a lot of shows on CBS and when I can’t watch OTA I try to use the CBS app on iPad. Try being the key word. Sometimes I’m lucky and it will stream, but if the internet is slow in the slightest the playback freezes and I have to close and restart. Usually 6-7 times for a 1 hour show. I decided to pay for a subscription and download episodes so I didn’t have to worry about internet speed. What a mistake. It can take numerous tries to “successfully” download an episode and then when you try to play it may never start or give a critical error. Some times it takes downloading, deleting, and downloading again a dozen times before I get a working download. What a waste of money. CBS should take a look at the CW network’s app. It is easy to use and no matter how bad the internet connection is it always plays. America’s number 1 network, with the worst app.

- CBS invested wisely in App Development

CBS has developed an intuitive, fluid app to create good end user experiences. Apparently the other big television networks depend solely on their content libraries to draw in new subscribers to view their ads. It is apparent to me that unlike the others( NBC, CW etc) CBS also invested in app development to create something that works as expected. I’ve had bad experiences with other free broadcast networks streaming services; crashes, buffering, ad systems causing crashes, for example. Leading me to believe the actual platform for streaming their huge libraries of content were afterthoughts. The CBS app is smooth and easy to use. Ad free version is my favorite, also it looks like they intend to expand into productions made for streaming.

- Vote with your wallet.

I envision the executives at CBS laughing at all of us idiots who pay them for the privilege of using a terrible app. And because of that, we're actually paying to watch the same amount of commercial minutes as tv, when you consider the universal complaint below.... The app fails, constantly, and requires us to watch commercial breaks over and over and over and over, just to get through an episode. It's sad that we are still here posting the same failure time and time again, yet we continue paying. If enough people (or everyone) canceled the $5.99 fee, and maybe even cable tv (making sure to cite CBS's failure as a reason), maybe they would pay attention. But as it stands, they do not care... at all. And as long as we pay, they never will. In fact, the fee will most certainly increase someday. That's not to say reviews are completely useless. Just not solely useful. Vote also with your wallet, and your word of mouth. Bump. No changes.... at all. Terrible app.

- More CBS related than the app

I got the one week free subscription, and with about three hours to spare, went to cancel via the app...no dice. Then the website...no dice, then I called. I was only hold for about five minutes, but then it took 10 minutes to find my account and have them offer a month free. I got it to binge watch Star Trek Discovery, and there was nothing else there to make me want to stick around, so I cancelled. A few hours later, I got my paypal notice that I’d been billed for a month. I called CBS the next morning, and was told that they were very sorry for the misunderstanding and that the good news was that I’d get cbs all access for another month (since they weren’t refunding my money!). 6 bucks isn’t bad for 15 great eps of Star Trek, but I have to say it’s a bit annoying...plus now I guess I’m not eligible for the free month? As far as the app, it was adequate for me to watch on my iPad and iPhone, and I appreciated that when switching devices it remembered my place in the episode.

- Great app!

Just 2 things I don’t like, the fact it takes a whole day for new episodes to be available is super annoying. Even the HBO app makes new episodes available same day. The last thing is that if your watching a show and need to stop for whatever reason, close out the app, when you return you don’t know where you left off. You should be able to tell from the app where you are in a show. There is a blue bar at the bottom sometimes, but it’s not all the time and it’s soooooooo small you can’t see it. If the show your watching isn’t on the main page, you must search again for that show every time you go into the app. So in my opinion there should be a much easier way to be able to tell what show, what episode and see exactly where you left off in that episode.

- Your app is awful

Your app is getting awful each and every time I open it. You have no favorite section to put in the shows I watch regularly. I can’t find my shows unless I do a search. When I do find my shows they list the episodes of the previous show that I was watching before and do not refresh to the current episode of the show I want to watch. If I’m going to pay $9.99 a month for your service I expect a little more out of an app than this. It is very frustrating to want to sit and watch my programs and take 15 minutes to locate them find the one I last watched it because you no longer show which one that was. Do you plan to update this app so it’s at least 80% better than it is now or do you plan to just keep this piece of crap the way it is?

- Great content / poor user experience

I’m going to have CBS All Access because I’m a huge Big Brother fan. However, when watching any show or the BB Live Feeds on this app it will just randomly shut down and close the app, right in the middle of the show I’m watching. I haven’t been able to finish Love Island Season 2, episode 1 because this has happened so much I get too frustrated and go to a different, more reliable streaming service for content. Also; as I’m watching The Challenge Season 11, at the end of the episode, it goes back to the 20 minute marker of that episode(?!). I have to exit out and select the next episode. It’s not my internet or device as this happens on all 3 devices I watch on and whether I’m at home or out and about. Why are you ok with having an app that does this? Finally; if you’re looking for areas to improve, I’d love to be able to remove a show from my recent watches list.

- The ABSOLUTE WORST APP!!!

I wouldn’t even recommend this app to anyone if is was a “free subscription” let alone for $10 a month. I can not get the app to work on my Xbox, my speed test is WELL above the speed needed to run this app according to CBS help page. It took me installing, rebooting and uninstalling a solid 5 times before it would even open, let alone signing in (took another 4 times to get signed in; even using my browser). After finally being able to launch the app and log in, it won’t play anything, AT ALL. I followed EVERY trouble shooting step, still getting an error 3304. Then CBS said to contact my Internet Provider 🤦🏽‍♀️. My WiFi is strong enough to stream 4 online gaming consoles, stream TV & have all of our devices connected (we have 2 separate WiFi connectors, a 5G connection and a “regular” WiFi connection) and it wouldn’t stream on either connections. My Internet provider literally laughed & said it’s definitely not my connection, it’s the app. Its absolutely TRASH!

- So Disappointing!

But, oh what could have been! Performance issues... Glitchy video even on new shows. Some older shows are darkened to reduce bandwidth usage to the point they can't be viewed well. Overall I'd compare the video quality to streaming services of the early 2000s. Inability to turn off auto play next episode. Yes, it's there under settings, but has no effect. Content issues... Some shows are a moving window of episodes. No binge watching to start a new show and catch up here! Other streaming services have a better selection of older CBS shows. I expected to find 'em all here. Usability issues... No watchlist! It only shows what it thinks you are watching. There is no way to browse and add shows to a watchlist like most other apps. Results... This was critical for me continuing to view CBS shows. It's no longer worth being forced to pay traditional providers $$$ for 100+ channels and only watching six! Good bye Blue Bloods, Hawaii 50, all the NCIS's and my so called local CBS affiliate. I would like to say I enjoyed the trial, call my peeps and tell them it's great, but I can't. Needless to say, I cancelled at the end of the trial. Recommendations... Stay away so CBS will be motivated to step up and fix this mess. If they don't get with it soon, they might just find competitors win the audience from this and their traditional over the air services.

- Offline Downloaded Episodes Stopped Working

I spent 3 hours downloading my limit of Star Trek Discovery at my brothers house this week. Initially, I thought this was an incredible app and the option to download up to 25 episodes and watch them any time over the next 30 days was very appealing. It worked fine at first, watched the first 4 episodes without a problem. Awesome, I thought. Fast forward 2 days, I return to the app to continue on episode 5...”FATAL ERROR 5304”. Ok. Episode 6. Same thing. Click through all the episodes I downloaded and I get the exact same message. “FATAL ERROR 5304”. I go to their website to get help. The recommendation: Check your internet connection or reset your router... To fix watching offline? I couldn’t find ANY information for getting this error on watching downloaded episodes offline, it only addressed streaming issues. So, I literally subscribed for a month of commercial free programming specifically to download and watch episodes offline and that is LITERALLY THE ONLY PROGRAMMING ON THE ENTIRE APP I AM UNABLE TO WATCH. To make matters worse, the 30 day limit reset after 2 days. I now have 1 day to watch the downloaded episodes instead of 27-28 days. And due to the fact I cannot watch what I downloaded, I wasted my time and money on this app. CBS your app is garbage. Refund my subscription. I did not get the service I paid for and feel like you have stolen my money.

- Needs work and less ads.

I haven’t read any other reviews to prevent a biased comment. I got this app to watch celebrity big brother. The app itself isn’t bad and there are a decent amount of good shows on it. BUT, almost every time I watch a show. The show just stops playing randomly and brings me back to the menu l and I have to watch a zillion ads to get back to my place. This has happened on my iPad and phone. My second issue is the ads.... if I’m paying you $5.99 a month, there shouldn’t be ads. I can tolerate a few, but there’s an atrocious amount and I’m sorry but $10 a month for less ads is silly. It’s no different than live tv that I’m already paying for? I purely installed this app to watch the 24/7 live feed for celebrity big brother and I will cancel my subscription when the series is over. It’s just not worth it when there are other ways to watch your shows with no ads.

- ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

This is the first review I’ve ever written. If I could give this negative stars I would. You’re gonna put commercials in, but then have them skip after having people pay??? Then in order for me to try to continue the show I’m forced to click learn more about your stupid ads? That makes no sense. With the amount of great technology and apps these days, I expect WAY more from CBS. I think this is pretty embarrassing that your app could be this bad and the fact that this app even has 4.5 stars is ridiculous. I’m almost sure people are paid to write good reviews because I find it ridiculous that anyone could even like this app. I wanted to watch the price is right and it’s taken me almost 2 1/2 hours to even watch an episode because your ads skip the entire time. If you ever download this or want to pay, AVOID AT ALL COST. I’m sitting here on my couch furious that someone could make an app this awful. Please fix this problem or you will lose customers.

- Why even download?

I love CBS, don’t get me wrong. I downloaded multiple episodes of a show for my trip out of state since I know I have bad service so I could still watch my favorites. Well, wouldn’t you know that apparently my internet connection isn’t strong enough to watch the shows I downloaded before I left. Why did I take the time to download the episodes of it still requires internet connection to watch? All it did was take up room on my phone and slow it down. And to make matters worse it stopped half way through an episode and for some reason then expired the episode on the same day so even if it started working I couldn’t watch the episode I was on. I just want to know why have the option to download if it still requires internet connection to watch. Other than that SUPER irritating aspect of this app, it’s great.

- Crashes every few minutes

This app crashes every few minutes, and has been like this for months. I tried it again today hoping that it’d be fixed after two or three months but the CBS app still has this same problem. I can only watch a few minutes of a show at a time before it crashes again. The problem is entirely the app, because I have an iPhone Xs Max and I‘ve also tried restarting my phone but it doesn’t fix the issue. My phone is fine, my WiFi is fine, except the app still crashes. Why has this critical issue not been fixed yet? Edit: You have now replied only to say to call your customer support number. Is your only job to copy/paste the same response to all the critical reviews? Why don’t you take the problems we have with the app, submit it to the developers, and then say to us you have done so? I think we would all appreciate if a little effort was put into supporting the customers of your own app.

- Version upgrade

Very unfair to owners of older iphones who were made to upgrade and there’s no way to get around it. I couldn’t use the app without upgrading and my old iPhone did not allow for an upgrade due to an older IOS and I didn’t want to upgrade the IOS because I didn’t have enough space on the phone. So I couldn’t use the app at all even though I have a CBS subscription. So for several months (until I got a nee phonE) I couldn’t use something i paid for. What of I couldn’t afford to get a new phone? But i guess with the small percentage of people that would have been in the same situation, it is not worth your time to implement a feature to not have to force people to upgrade the cbs app. Thanks for listening to me vent. Sometimes programmers don’t think about these things.

- CBS All Access Review

I’m on the CBS free trial and plan to keep my subscription to the ad-free plan. It allows me to have live TV access to a local affiliate station so that I can watch sports and news without having to pay for an expensive streaming service with a bunch of filler channels that I would never watch. The library is large with a good back catalog of classic shows and quite a few movies that I want to revisit. I mainly watch on my TV with a Roku but it’s nice to have the ability to watch off line or on my tablet with the iOS app. All in all, this is an affordable option for me. The only thing I would like to see added would be the ability to create a watchlist. Otherwise, I like the setup with the thumbnails instead of a channel grid. I’m looking forward to being a CBS subscriber.

- Why am I paying for this???

Why am I paying for an app that shuts off every two minutes when I watch it on my phone, and the sound messes up 30 seconds before or after a commercial? It takes 2 hours to watch a show on my phone because it shuts off every two minutes and then I have to get out, get back in, watch the commercials over, then watch the show, and then I get to repeat the process in 2 minutes all over again. When I am at home, watching it on tv, either the sound stops right before a commercial break, so you miss “all the important stuff” going into a break. Or the sound comes back 30 seconds before the picture comes back, so after 30 seconds of this, I have to hit the “back 30 seconds” button, where it will start the segment over with the sound correctly synced. It is a waste of my time and money, but unfortunately CBS has most of my favorite shows and this is the only way to watch them.

- Remember what all access is

Yes their are commercials (no more than on their tv network) Yes they have all the shows (normally on their tv network) I have Xfinity and bought the CBS All Access with commercials (Commercials never bothered me) Pos: Star Trek (and more then just Discovery) Access to a lot of extra content (tv shows old and new) Access is available anywhere on my device with internet If you hate paying for cable this is a decent alternative if you don’t mind paying for each network you want (HBOgo similarity but with commercials and basically just tv shows) Cons: You do pay for a lot (not all)that you already have access to via Xfinity Very little movies (4 to be precise) If you want no commercials the price goes from $5.99 to 9.99 which is similar to Netflix price. This means you are paying Netflix prices for tv shows. All in all this come down to a personal preference of who you wish to pay for CBS: CBS or Xfinity (cable) Since our last cable and internet bill with Xfinity was over $200 this is looking to be a viable option for us. Best of luck to all of those checking out this product. Remember this will not work for all people but will be a great way to escape high cable bills.

- Re-review

App is working better than it had been previously. The 4 stars is for the functionality of the app itself. It falls a star short simply due to the lack of quality the original programming has. I’m a huge Star Trek fan. Love TNG and I was TOS from time to time. Discovery is the greatest disappointment. It’s all action and the wrong type of fan service (ie young Spock). One of Discovery’s biggest Execs, Alex Kurtzman, should be Hollywoods enemy having tanked 3 major franchises: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Dark Universe and OH YEAH JJ Abram’s Star Trek films. This dude should definitely stop getting hired. I also love the original Twilight Zone. The writing was pitch perfect. This new one has the most on the nose messaging it treats it’s viewers like children. The final episode however was better than the rest. CBS needs to put more faith into truly original programming

- The bold and the Beautiful soaps

I’ve watched it on my iPhone fir a few years now. But as of now I’m having to pay to watch it. No I guess I’ll be signing off or the CBS CHANNEL. I feel like if I wanted to pay to watch it I would keep this app. But I won’t so I say my goodbyes here. It’s been nice watching your channel. Well here we go again. Having to pay to watch our shows just like on tv. We pay for service to our house and now the phones. It’s crazy. I love Channel 3 but I can’t afford to pay for it at home and on my phone also. So I guess I won’t get to watch from my phone on the day times shows. Only at night while at home. Thanks for the service on my iPhone. But I will be signing off your channel on my phone.

- Survivor seasons missing

I’m a survivor superfan, and when I wanted to start catching up on older seasons, I subscribed to cbs all access to avoid having to spend too much on DVDs of individual seasons. I was in the middle of watching season six just a couple days ago, and now I have discovered you only have 10 out of 38 seasons available, most of which (south pacific, Nicaragua, samoa) are some of the worst seasons of all time according to most of the survivor community. I was planning on watch many very soon that are now off the app. Would you at least consider putting all of them back on? I know a lot of fans are very disappointed in this decision and many of the greatest seasons of all time (heroes vs villains, cambodia, cagayan, micronesia, even David vs Goliath) aren’t available anymore. I used to adore this app and I even bought a smart tv to watch survivor on my tv. I will be cancelling my subscription until you fix this.

- Very flakey on Apple TV

I found this app to be very unstable and flakey on the Apple TV, far more so than any of the other (many) streaming video apps I’ve used. The simple act of watching a show, then leaving the app and returning and trying to resume playback (of the same episode or even a different show) often causes the app to fail in this way: clicking play or resume in a menu gives a brief playback buffering indicator and then sends you back to the menu screen you started with. No error message is shown. Rebooting the Apple TV resolves the issue, and playback will again work as expected. (Actually rebooting the Apple TV via the settings menu—I’ve never had to do this for any other app to restore functionality.) I had to do this many times to get through a season of the show I was watching. This app needs some serious work to compete with the other players in this space.

- Tired of it

I definitely understand why the creators of this app wouldn’t want any outbreak of copyright or any type of infringement to the network’s name, but in regards to big brother, these live feeds are crucial to dedicated and proud fans of the show, and the decision to prohibit screenshots from the app has hindered any chance of enjoyable viewing during these live, only seen once moments. I’m not the only one who feels this way, and I know a lot of people have had complaints on this since the update that introduced the change, and it would definitely be appreciated by the show’s fans to go back to how it used to be. At the least, make some change where it’s possible to take screenshots of only these features. Like I said, I understand why the decision was made and other major companies have done the same, but it’s a huge inconvenience and disappointment to committed fans across the nation.

- What gives?

I suddenly was not able to watch tonight/this morning after several weeks of paid subscription. I had to go through resubscribing and I wanted to finish watching episode 14 of season 2 of NCIS which I had paused to help my wife get in bed. (When I came back it was frozen and refused to start. I tried to restart the program all over on my Roku, but there was a problem. Then finally I was able to go to CBS All Access but I had to sign in again, and when I tried to watch the end of the episode I as greeted by this warning: “Due to [sic] licensing restrictions, video is not available outside your country.” Now I am not outside my country. I am in the United States of America. Whenever I close this page I’m brought back to the watch page and when I hit the watch button I get the warning again. What’s going on?

- So many BB problems

So I signed up for CBS all access so I could watch old seasons of Big Brother and it’s been a pretty great expletive, except for a few things. In season 7 of the show the wrong episode was uploaded, like episode 3 was uploaded twice but labeled 3 and 12. In season 17 I’ve found at least 6 episodes so far that the sound has started to become out of sync with what’s happening on screen. I have tried quitting the app and also completely restarting Apple TV, and since I’m subscribed through my Apple account I can’t watch it on other devices like Roku. I wouldn’t care if it only happened a few times, but the issues seem to be happening more often as I watch more. I do hope this gets fixed, because to be charged 9.99 a month for something that’s not working correctly is kind of ridiculous.

- Yet another streaming service, and a bad app to boot.

There isn’t enough content to warrant the monthly fee... then, let’s go to completeness of that content. The app won’t show you much of the Brady Bunch without an All access but if you look over the episodes you’d get, you’ll realize they’re missing several episodes peppered in and the entire fifth season and the last several episodes of the 4th season. But then there’s the quality of the App. It’s really annoying that the app will back out of playback if you flip your phone vertical or just tilt your hand a little. It’s super obnoxious and just trying to watch one episode I’ve had it dump out to the episode list several times because of this. And repeated requests to enable push notifications? If you don’t want push notifications and don’t want the app to keep badgering you about it, you have to click “yes” at the prompt and then click “don’t allow” at the actual iOS prompt.

- Only purchase this app if you plan on using (and paying for) it FOREVER...

If you, like me, just want to watch those crazy kids in the big brother house, knock yourself out. But be warned that once an all access customer, always an all access customer. It's incredibly convoluted to try to cancel that pesky subscription. So much so that you'll undoubtedly swear more than Paul in the three hours and five attempts you try it. And don't even think about trying to watch feeds you missed while you were working. Or sleeping. Or whatever. Because messing with the time settings on the live feeds will inevitably plunge you into a twilight zone time warp wherein you'll never be able to watch anything but the same 20 minute loop unless you restart the app completely. The camera screenshots rarely match up with the actual live footage, so that heated argument you think you're about to see was actually an event that happened hours ago. Too bad for you.
