I need to know why this app crashes everytime I try to open it. The app used to work pre-12.2, but now it says it will use an older version which crashes the system. I shouldn’t have to update my phone just to use your app when it worked perfectly fine before. And I’m not jailbroken so it’s not that. I’m on 12.1.4. And before I had to restore my phone to its current firmware, DM1 ran fine. Now, nothing. And that’s a shame because I paid for all the extras and now I have to pay for it again for my iPad mini 5. iMPC never gave me these problems. But when this app worked, I used it 20x more than the Akai app.

In love.... I am thoroughly in love with this drum machine. The kits are awesome. The randomizer is super fun. Tons if tweakability. If you're into this kind of thing, just buy it! Lots of unused screen real estate on the iPhone version. Seems the iPhone 4 (and earlier) versions was just stretched to fit. Not a big deal... doesn't detract from my enjoyment... but it would be cool to make use of that empty space by exposing some of the other awesome features.

Amazing value. This app has such a wide array of sounds and options available, and is a great addition to any musicians collection of music apps. Personally, I find it very useful in creating looping music. Would recommend to anyone.

Almost better than a toy. The interface and many of the sounds are pretty great in a lot of ways. It's highly useable but there are a lot of little ways it could be so much better. It's almost professional quality but not quite. Some features I most want access to: at least 2 effects (isnt that the way it is on iPad version?), a mute button on channels in addition to the solo button already included, channel effect bus sends, reverb, a save button; *the ability to select any sound in the bank on any channel*, maybe even to rename channels; ability to load sample sounds. More sound banks, (I would pay for them), particularly covering acoustic drums and percussion. Maybe I am just looking for a different app. I still use it, but mostly just for fun. The amount of time spent scrolling through individual drum sounds looking for something useful is only barely worth the effort.

App resize for iPhone 12. Please make the update to resize this app 🙏🙏🙏. It’s literally the best drum app out there, without question.

Latest version eats the battery. While not active in the background it killed my battery in 3 hrs. As a big fan I’m a but disappointed.

Nice. Used this on some recordings and it sounds great. Maybe add faders instead of virtual knobs for the iPhone. Tempo, volume and pan are tricky to dial in. A fader that goes the length of the screen would make this killer. Also, an option to assign sounds per sequence if one felt the need to change it during a song and would it be to much to ask for a "revert to last save" and "save" function? I can't tell you how many times I opened the perfect beat and changed the whole kit when I only wanted to tweak one sound. Still awesome.

OSX=😄 iPad 1=😄 iPhone 6=😒. No automation??? Why not?!? This makes it not a full on experience and CRIPPLES an otherwise excellent product! Also, can we have a "Save" button, instead of just having any change you make saved? Ive lost a lot of great beats because it will open on the last project, and I will create something new, which will automatically overwrite the previous one, unless I tell it to "new project". Every music app has a save feature, this just assumes whatever changes you make as saved. Terrible method.... **Edit/Update** I hate to say this, cause this app isn't really all that bad, but every time I use it, I like it less. I was quite excited to see an update finally arrive, but bummed that it didnt really change much, or add any real features. Audiobus is nice, as is In App Audio. 12 new drums is like getting the interior of your car detailed, when you actually need an oil change. Can we have automation? Can we have multiple effects? Can we have an easier, more user friendly method of saving??

Great little drum machine. Great little drum machine with lotsa features I really enjoyed the different drum machines available for slection. Only thing I’d add is an Ok button after I make a selection Great product excellent work guys!

User Kit option?. No option to create your own kit. Can’t upload samples. iPhone version at the moment is limited.

Great app for beginner drummer. My drum teacher turned me on to this app and it has been great in helping me maintain my tempo while also helping me build up my speed. LOVE IT! The only complaint is the BPM is terrible. I really wish they would figure out how I can simply type in the desired BPM and be done with it instead of swiping left or right or using that insidious bar. WOOF! Also, I wish it had the three toms along with the various cymbals.

Great app love it. Love the samples the best but does it ableton?. Anyway to have it ableton compatible. Through link or anything

bad reviews = user error. I'm baffled by the bad reviews of this app. all the things mentioned work flawlessly for me, including audio paste. the review saying there is no way to manually set step length is inaccurate, it's clearly listed on the main song menu. as far as people wanting extra sounds, this is an homage to classic drum machines, and as such it has, you guessed it, drum sounds. if you need synth sounds, get a synth. this is a DRUM MACHINE. when they drop the update for adding your own samples, dm-1 will be unstoppable. this is in my top 3 music apps, it's the drum machine I have always wanted, hardware or otherwise.

Needs An Update, Unfortunately Still On Hold. This app deserves a 4-star review. The iPad version deserves a 5-star review. The DM-1 has been a solid facet in my music making and it's been nothing but amazing. It sounded incredible and was very simple to program an entire song, using that amazing interface. Sadly, since iOS 8's release, this app would rightfully earn a 1 or 2-star review. There's a big issue with the pan (as well as various clicks, distorted blurbs, and what-is-this-even?) and its rendered this even less useful than those bottom shelf drum apps available. Even Fingerlab's communicative response has been minimal since late September (last I heard it would be hopefully fixed by "mid-October") However, we must not slam this app with impulsive 1-star reviews. This really is a wonderful app, WHEN ITS WORKING. So until then, we can only wait. As excruciating as it may be.

Fixed finally. This is a very fun to use drum sequencer with an nice full sound and great fx options. Very easy to get lots of patterns going.

Best Drum Machine App. Period!. I’ve used this app for 4-5 years now. You don’t use something that long if it’s not good. Like other drum machines you do have to play with in certain boundaries, but this app is limitless compared to all other apps. Is straight forward and easy to use. No cartoon colors or in app purchases every time you open up the app. First off you have every type drum kit imaginable. From dub bass to Led Zeppelin type kits. I believe it’s a 100+ kits. Then you can pick your favorite pieces from any kit to create a custom kit. All perimeters are tweekable. Level, pitch, length, pan and you can even reverse any piece of the kit. Once you have your kit, I usually play in the boundaries of the 32 step model. Placing kick drums, snare and high hats in place to help start the beat I’m going for. By placing the snare in different spaces of your beat, allows you to change tempos during your song. Granted these tempo changes between beats are stricked to a 1/2 time up or 1/2 time down of your selected song tempo. After I have your intro, verse, chorus, bridge and alternates of those beats completed, you can build your song up in the apps SUPER EASY to use sequencer. This sequencer is honestly the best out of all the other drum machine apps out there. Once you have your song, you can adjust the tempo, and swig, plus add delay, reverb, compression and other effects to your song that you can adjust in real time with easy sliders. I could go on for hours on how much you can do with this app. Just know that if your a guitarist/bass/keyboard player and have no drumming skills, this app allows you to easily create drum tracks that you can call your own. It gives you an authenticity of creation that pre programmed drum loops will never have. Even better, the sound quality is studio worthy in comparison. If your like me and can’t afford the over priced drum software out there, this is next best thing(in my opinion).

I want 3/4!. DM1 is an excellent app for the price, on both iPad and iPhone. I really love its ability to be so quickly programmable and that it can run in audio background mode so you can jam with another instrument you may have on your phone!

10/10 best drum machine app. Buy this . This app will do odd time signature , you can step sequence or play the pads in real time . You can sequence lots of parts that make whole songs in the app .Works with inner app audio audio buss and every other app I've tried . Works on iPad and iPhone ( on iPhone it can not do odd time you are Limited to 8 or 16 beat sequences only but I believe it has all the same sounds ) . Lots of amazing sounds all the classic rap drum machine as well as modern ones . It has acoustic sounding drums and even tabla. I make nine inch nails sounding music and its very easy to do with the built in effects . This app should cost more money it's too cheap . I would pay $20 for this app its amazing . Zero crashes or bugs!i thank you developers for making such a great app

Very well developed. This app is amazing and fun. You can export as .wav or .aac for use in many DAW’s on iPhone or on computer of transferred. There are so many settings to play around with. I am surprised how well the app is designed. Very easy to use and I am still finding out new things I can do with the app. It’s fun to play around with while you explore and navigate through all the menus. VERY WELL DONE developers. Hope to see more apps like this in the future. Thanks!

Great drum app, but.... I love the functionality of this app. The interface, the sounds, it's all intuitive and top notch. The only reason this isn't a 5-star review is that the tempo is not true, at least not when exported out to other apps like Fourtrack. It's not even consistent with itself when you export the same track multiple times. Does not line up with GarageBand either which makes it all but useless except for jotting down ideas. Kind of ridiculous that a digital drum app can't get the tempo right. I'd use a real drummer if I wanted that. Otherwise, great app and lots of fun to use.

app doesnt work ios 12. stooped working just get black screen so sound no visuals.

Great app!!!. Only thing missing is individual track export via AudioShare on a zip file

This new update is not an update at all. This app used to work completely fine and I actually just decided to use it for a performance I'm about to do and I have plenty of patterns saved onto it and after an update now it doesn't work at all on an iPhone 6s. How is it that this app has just been updated if it doesn't work on one of the newest iPhones on the market?? Surely you guys can't be expecting everybody to go buy an iPhone 7 just to use one app. Also this app is not free so this is completely unacceptable, I'm expecting this to be fixed very soon

Gestures to move between patterns. Hey guys! I really dig your app as a drummer. Everything is on the high level. But I have one wish: can you put all patterns in one line to move between them with swipes. Cause it will helps in the situation when your drum part takes few patterns for a complete picture and you must draw it right, it will helps to put markers in the right place more easy. Current realization is a little bit uncomfortable when you need to tap patterns bar and switch between them. Anyway thank you! Right app for the people who know how to make more cowbell! AND WHY THERE IS NOT A "LOOP SONG" button in iPhone version? Please add it! A lot of thanks.

iPhone 5 optimized tolex. I like DM1, but the claim that this update is optimized for the iPhone 5 by adding faux tolex on the top and bottom of the standard display is a pretty silly claim. How about using that real estate for some actual functionality like larger pads, moving the instrument selection buttons on the Steps view from the side to the top/bottom allowing for a larger steps workspace, or more FX displayed on the XY Pad instead of having to scroll, more visible slots on the Song view, etc.?

Love it! But where is DM2?. I love this app and have used it for many years. I have DM2 on my ipad and I am always wondering why they don’t bring it to iPhone!? Also, if it ever is brought to iPhone, I don’t want this version to be discontinued, I want both versions on my phone! I never use DM2 simply because I rarely have my iPad with me, but I ALWAYS have my phone. Please bring a version of DM2 to the iPhone! <3

Good but has memory leak. I like this app and functionally it's Probably the best drum app in the store. However, it's had a memory leak for quite a while now and you have to quit the app every time you use it otherwise it kills your battery. This memory leak has killed my battery a few times. It's not bad just don't forget to stop the application from running when you're done.

Many thanks. I’ve been waiting for this, and it’s very promising. Thank you to the developers. I’m hoping for at least 3/4 and 5/4 time signature capability. The addition of a tap tempo would likewise be really helpful. Interaction between open and closed hi-hats would be the icing on the cake. Thanks again.

Great drum machine sequencer!. I’ve had this app for a few years. It’s got some fun effects and samples, isn’t too complicated to use and is perfect for my every day needs. Good show!

Needs a little work. I recently purchased the $9.99 version and downloaded it to my new MacBook Air only to realize it doesn't have the "swing" beat function the free version use to have. Most all my songs have some sort of swing and now I can't get them to sound in the pocket like I want. Also the app plays the beat but stops visually showing(following) then pads get stuck and don't respond. I have the relaunch the app to start over. I'm hopeful these issues ca be fixed with an update. A few new acoustic kits would be nice for paying customers as a bonus. Thanks.

Not sized for the iPhone 12. The developers did not resize the app for the iPhone 12. Many of the buttons are off screen with no way to get to them. Typically they check functionality on all platforms before releasing. Fail.

DM2 AUv3?. 🙏🏼🥺🖤🖤🖤🖤 pleaaaaase 🖤🖤🖤🖤🥺🙏🏼

Great sketchpad. I love how easily I can switch between patterns and sounds. There are some quirks about switching between two bar and one bar patterns. It seems to switch between their relative positions as a whole instead of related to a single bar. The app on its own is very useful. The dream came true for me when Ableton Link was implemented, or so I thought. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because Link does not function as expected. If you turn Link on mid-play and have an app join they do not sync unless you start DM1 over. There is always a slight latency in DM1 (always), and it always inevitably drifts. This is not how Link is supposed to work. If it can be fixed, this will for certain be a flawless app.

Great, but.... I was impressed with the multiple sounds and how easy it was to make a drum beat on my phone, and then copy it to GarageBand and make a full drum track, all using my iPhone (still am impressed). But now, out of nowhere, the app became a huge problem for me. Now, I can't export the audio and copy to GarageBand, or anything, and I'm using an iPhone 6S, so the RAM and processor shouldn't be the problem. I still love the app, but I really hope an update can fix this nightmarish bug.

Destroys My Battery. The app itself is really cool, I have no issue with it except I would like to see reverb and to be able to put effects onto single channels. One can do this on the iPad version. I had to delete the app through because it absolutely destroyed my battery. In 8 hours it had managed to zap 38% of my battery with background activity. Why on earth does a simple drum machine need to perform background activity? It's totally illogical. The simplest solution is to just quit the app. But, I didn't use it enough to justify killing what is already an abhorrently weak battery for a smart phone. Fix it and I may be back.

Tempo. I am presciently embarrassed by the almost certain ease of the solution to my problem. First, this app is nothing short of spectacular. A clever operator could work an entire live (PA) performance with DM-1 alone and it is ENDLESS fun in creation-mode in your environment of choice. If you are as obsessed with drum machines as I am or just like an effective sketch pad, pick this immediately. My problem is that I MOSTLY USE the iPhone version of DM-1. I never noticed before today, I CANNOT LOCATE TEMPO CONTROL. The experience is akin to thinking you might have seen something supernatural; I can’t get my head around it. So again, I am preemptively embarrassed by how stupidly easy this answer will be.

Always loved this app. It’s fun and easy to use. Very cool that the Korg Volca Beats are now on there, but you’ve got a picture of the Volca Bass!

Well designed. Exceptional craftsmanship. Don't really use the app, but it is definitely worth the money.

iPad version?. First off - dug this app, it’s so much fun. The iPad version looks identical to this iPhone app, but you have to pay $4.99 for it? Why not just install the iPhone version on an iPad?

Fix the tempo problem!. Rant alert: I hate to complain but this app is, at the moment, a frustrating waste of potential. Whenever I've tried render to wav and export to Nano Studio or DAW, the tempo is way off. Like WAY OFF. Like 15 or so bpms off. Unacceptable. It turns it into something that is virtually unusable. Am I doing something wrong? Every other app I export from (Electribe, Rebirth, NLog) has no problems at all. If they fix this, it will be one of the best drum machines for iOS. I will grudgingly give it 3 stars because it is so good otherwise and I have faith that unless the programmers really don't care, this will be fixed. If not, his is a MAJOR FLAW and you should know that going in. It's especially odd because even lesser apps with far less thought put into them than this are able to achieve this basic task. Please correct this. It's such a great app and it does not need a glitch like this.

Major bug to fix. This app is a great mid level drum machine for song writers! One can go as crazy with time signature changes in a single song as one wishes to (7/4 to 17/8 to 23/16 etc), however I have experienced problems repeatedly with the “song loop” switch not responding. Many times it reads “off” when it is on which could be a disaster live. A five star product (for an iPhone drum machine) aside from this major bug. I am deleting this app and calling it a five dollar loss like sooo many other poorly designed half assed iPhone “would be”useful musical apps.

Awesome drum machine.. A couple more features would put this one up top. I like the interface. It's easy and looks great. I like the sounds. Great classic sounds and nice updated kits, as well. I wish I could importy own sounds, though; or, at least, edit the pitches of the library sounds on a per measure basis. Right now, changing the pitch of a sound in one measure changes it for all measures. Also, being able to put the beat through at least two effects would be nice. It's not too big a deal, though, if you have the Moog Filtatron or some other effects app. Finally, the synth sound packs are great, but why are we allowed to have TR-808, 909, and Glitch kits without a TB-303 sound pack? That's just cruel! ;-) Update: this thing is finally working again. Thank goodness.

Am I missing something?. Yes, I was missing something. Upon further investigation it seems there was, indeed, an "Audio Export" button. So, now I raised the rating from 3 to 4 stars because, 1) yes there are 99 pads but a lot of them are worthless and 2) Unless I'm missing something, once again, it seems you cannot adjust multiple effects. Meaning, when put the tab on "Delay" and put the little circle in the bottom left corner, for example, and then I go on the "Compression" tab and for that effect I want to put the circle in the top right corner, well that not only takes away the "Delay" effect, but when I go back to the "Delay" tab the circle is where I put it on the "Compression" tab, causing me to lose my place. (I learned to screen shot everything once I have it how I like it, but that does not solve the problem).

Simply amazing. For starters the price point for the quality of this app is amazing. I would clearly pay more for the app. But I love the layout, took a min, like literally a minute to get a familiar with it, but soon after I was on my way to making some beautiful house music. My only gripe, which may not have anything to do with the app, but more so my fat fingers is that some of the buttons and/or knobs didnt respond to my action. Other than that I look forward to spending my downtime making music.

Best mobile drum machine, hands down.. This is an amazing app. More developers should take note.

Love this app but not working on IPhone X. Recently got an iPhone X and opened up DM1. The screen is zoomed in way too far and no way to go into landscape mode. It is unusable this zoomed in.

good. but i wish you could disable the metronome sound when recording with the pads. a visual metronome might be useful however

iOS 6 required?. I don't want to be a douche but I'm rating this app 3 stars; 3 because ever since I play with this app on a friend's iPod a got hook by how amazing, simple and well-looking was to make music with it. I was hoping to cross the border this weekend and make me with one of those 10 dlls iTunes gift cards to buy this app, and yesterday I almost sht bricks when I saw it went free! Only to find it now requires iOS 6 to run... You can't get 5 stars when you force me to have the worst iOS to use your app. Why is it necessary, can't it be compatible with the previous OS like it was befor the update? I really want to use this app but I'm not willing to "upgrade" my OS just for it. Haven't you see the new iPod app? it's 💩 😣

Good app but have to pay twice for extra kits. I will start by saying this app is incredibly easy to use, as is the iPad version. I didn’t like that I couldn’t use the additional drum kits I’ve already purchased on the iPad with this version without buying them again.

Almost great. This thing is really great for quickly putting together rhythms for demos. HOWEVER, the limited functionality compared to the iPad app really makes this not worth buying. Why remove the option to change the time signature and step count? I don’t only want to write songs in 4/4. Please add these features to the iPhone app.

Doesn't work.. iPhone 4S. iOS 5.1 Complete rubbish. Application will not launch. I want my money back.

Bugs!!!!!!!!!. Latest update introduced 2 bugs; 1) audio is distorted even at default mixer volume. 2) when panning instruments in the mixer, virtually no audio is coming from the left hand side. Please fix these as soon as possible as they render the app USELESS. Here is a very old big that has been around since v1. And still not fixed; When switching between drum kits and saved kits, the volume/pan/length parameters are not updated!!!! When saving a user drum kit the volume/pan/length parameters are not saved either, so when I open a user kit or load a new kit, the volume / pan/ length parameters are carried over from the previous kit. Super annoying, please fix. This app had won a design award but it consistently riddled with bugs, otherwise it would be so good!!!

Good app for version 1. Presentation is great. Sound are awesome and big collection too. Agree with the review by Mark H on the bug. Tempo input can be improved, very difficult to set accurate tempo with a slider.

GREAT!. This is an amazing app but it needs dubstep drums do make it perfect

I never feel the urge to write a review usually but.... This is a very polished and comprehensive music app. I can, and do, spend hours fiddling with it! Looking forward to see how they can possibly improve this app in future updates

Brilliant!. Just @#%^ing brilliant!

Good app. It's a great drum machine app! Might I suggest the option to customise your drum kit ;)

Awesome. Great app! Swing function could be a little better though

Awesome. Dm1 for iPhone works really well. Heaps of sounds and samples to mess with and the interface makes everything super easy to use. Recommended

Great app!. This is by far the best drum machine on the App Store! Looking forward to more improvements in future! Buy it!!

One of the best drum app out there. Great sounds, intuitive, and gorgeous interface. What's not to like? One of the best iPad apps is now on your iPhone for only $1. GET IT! Ps: to the developers, iCloud sync-ing please:)

🔫. yehhhh it's pretty cool would be 100x better if I could actually make decent sounds out of it hahaha

Awesome!!. It has heaps of samples including synth sounds which are awesome. The sequencer is simple but great. Definitely a step ahead of existing drum apps in my opinion:)

Get it now. Intuitive design. Flawless functionality. Best drum machine app I've used.

Absolutely Awsome. Great app if u love making beats,I haven't had this much fun for 99 cents in years great job

Great. This app is worth buying it is great to make music.

Please fix issues. The audio is all distorted - drums sound intensely bitcrushed on startup. Tried reinstalling and restarting my phone but still there!

DM1 not working!. Drums are distorted, unusable, I have iphone 5s Great program otherwise.

Great interface. Fantastic

Good sounds, could go further. It would be great if this app had an intuitive "tempo learn" function. As in, you jam on the pads and it calculated the tempo. The tempo set and tap functions aren't great as is.

beware. beware i bought this and then realised that my ipod didn't have the right software you need ios 5.1 DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not good. Wasted of money it won't even work

Nice!. Yeah it's mean wish there was a fruity loops app?😊😊😊

Review of DM1. Nice little app. Love my iPad version. When u play around with it you really get a bit out of it.

Great!. Really fun app but can I suggest an option to adjust velocity i.e volume on individual notes similar to Reason. This will allow the creation of more intricate patterns.

Awesome!. Best music app ever

Don't buy. I brought this and no audio comes threw my speakers at all audio works fine before going into the app then the app doesn't play audio and then my phone doesn't so pretty disappointed with the app need to fix it so it runs with iOS 8

so much fun!. best drum app I've come across, the sounds and effects are top notch

Wow!. So surprised that you get so much from this awesome little app!

Great features. But.... looks really good, nice sounds, great features. I love how you can set any time signature from 1/16 to 11/16 to 4/4. Unfortubnately the pads don't work always, and the timing of the pads is really inaccurate for recording (improve the quantisation!). the swing needs to work for quavers as well as semiquavers, there should be an option or something.

Great. Almost perfect little sequencer. Lots of control and a nice interface. Things to add - 3/4 time signature grid in step mode. Also import of your own sounds is pretty dicey. Taking the quantising variance feature from FunkBox would be good too. Good work

Good but very crashy. It's potentially a great app but crashes heaps and still most times I start the app the sounds don't work and it has to be restarted and killed over and over.

weird bug. the app is very good, i like it. but today the app some how didnt respone, i went on the app and it doesnt do anything. and then i went back to the menu, when i slide to change page on the apps, my phone starts lagging and it randomly stops halfway when i slide to another page, as well as i cant go to any other apps. i have to reboot my phone again. also the same thing happens again when i launch the app. i dont know if its like this for others or on my phone, but it gives me a weird bug everytime.

Why won't it work on Jailbroken iPhones?. Anyone know?

Pretty fun!. Would've been nice to have a bigger diversity, but overall it's a fun game!

Great App. Best drum machine I have found for a dollar! I could play with it all day.

Fun to use but.... Still need some improvements

Love it, but iPad features please?. This is my go-to drum machine. I love the sounds, functionality, and interface. Pair it with Loopy and an Apogee Jam, and you've got a song-writing power-house. I'm disappointed the iPad features (version 3.0!) are not available on the iPhone version. Please update!

Enjoyable. Full featured drum kit for sure. I enjoyed playing this. Would be great with more pads and if there's one thing I'd DEFINITELY like it's a 64 step pattern option.

Do yourself a favor and buy this app while it's only a dollar. I honestly wasn't sure at first if I would care for this because I've tried actual drum machines and didn't think much of them . But this application is legitimate lots of kits to choose from with great sounds and an easy interface . I will probably use this app in recordings and possibly live . If your reading this and the price for the DM1 is still 0.99 cents id get it now . That being said I would have payed more now that I know it's potential .

Really nice, but where is the metronome button.. Have it both on my iPhone and iPad, but can't find the metronome button on the iPhone…

Drum pad request. Can you make the drum pads compatible with midi support?

Doesn’t work anymore. It doesn’t fit in the screen since newest update I paid for this and it’s my fav app ever Fix it!!! Please haha

Very complete!. All the options you want and need in a drum machine.

Superb app but.... The iPhone version lacks several important features available on IPad, like automation, custom kit, individual tracks export etc. I really hope the developers will include those features for iPhone as they’re really important

iOS 5. Please make a legacy version for iOS 5 so itunes stops bothering me with an update I can't have.

Awesome clean fun. For a buck it does not get any better, great fun when connected to my 150 watt 7.1 home stereo. Hearing the bass from my 12" sub is way cool.

Fun to play!. Just a dollar that makes my day :-) Great work guys

Doesn't open. This app doesn't open on my iPhone 4... Wtf?

Awesome. The sequencer is awesome. Great app!!

MIDI broken. With the new V3.0 update the midi send and receive no longer works.

Needs Midi. This app needs midi, please add midi just like the iPad version!

Unbelievable fun for a loonie!. If you like mixing beats this app is for you!

Un 5 étoiles !. Enfin une app qui peut m'occuper pendant des heures !

Great app. I love when people complain about an app that costs under a buck.

I like it. The only thing that takes away from this app is I can only use 1 drum machine per beat

Simply put: dm1 is by far the best. I've tried many other apps and dm1 remains my go-to app for quick, intuitive, of the moment beats/rhythms. It's versatile, programmable and just all around fun (also super easy to use-terrific UI design and functionality). I've been using it for a coupe years now and have stuck through with all updates as of the time of this review (April 04, 2016). It always seems to work glitch-free (and barely noticeable latency to boot-at least with my current setup->iPod touch gen5&6, iOS 9.1-9.3.1). Love it, thanks fingerlab!

Nice kits. Great kits but needs to be AU3

Best iOS drum machine!. Awesome for capturing beats anytime, anywhere.

Nearly perfect but.... This app is fantastic, its well designed, easy to use, responsive...but kinda useless. You can only use one "instrument" at a time. So youre stuck with 9 sounds and that's it. If they can fix this problem, (same thing goes for the fx), this could be a 5 stars without any hesitation.

Meh. Pretty good , hopefully more updates in the future :)

Great app but please fix it.. Ever since I updated to iOS 8 it's been having an error saying it's having troubles connecting to audiobus. It doesn't work with or without.

Great for experimentation. This thing is great for playing with beat ideas. It's a fully fledged drum machine with step sequencer, missing only the ability to load your own samples and per channel effects. The built in samples cover classic drum machines like the 808 and 909, to bleepy bloopy sci fi like sounds, to acoustic kits. It has a good effects module that can be applied to a pattern as a whole. The interface is quite intuitive and if you're at all familiar with drum machines you'll pick it up in no time. At current time of writing the app sells for $0.99 and at that price it's an absolute steal!

Unreasonably good app. In the top 4 on all iOS for me.. Love this app. It’s great, don’t dilly dally. Just get it. I can’t find a way to contact the dev so I’d like to ask for a feature here. The bpm controls are laid out in a less than ideal way and limit how I’d like to use the app. Could the folks of fingerlab consider making some feature enhancements? I’ll try to break it up into priority. If it’s a big deal but you’re up to it, maybe revamping it could be an option? The most vital change to improve usability is the bpm resolution. 1bpm increments is way too course, 0.1 would be a step in the right direction but 0.01 is preferable. Second is the bpm slider. What I’m about to ask for may be redundant after my next request/suggestion. Can we either set to bottom of the bpm scale 60 and upper to 200? Or allow the user to set those points? Next one could be prohibitively cumbersome to implement, but I’ll ask anyway. Would it be possible to put a technics style pitch fader along the side of the global UI? -8% to +8% would be very cool, but bpm change is perfectly serviceable. (Perhaps redesign the transport to include play pause, tap tempo, bump up and down and a fader along the right side of the UI? More specifics below.)Maybe hide or ghost it most of it but try to use the whole screen’s length? A pitch bump ‘up’ and ‘down’(like on digital mixing controllers) would complete this and allow me to use this app for live performances. And finally a ‘tap’ bpm feature would round this off to being a easier tool to play with. I love this app. I use it as an example when I’m showing my musician friends how powerful and useful iOS can be for making fresh and exciting music. Keep up the work fingerlab, you’re great and all your apps are beautiful and functional. Thank you.

Excellent!. Great stuff. Enjoy!

Save?. I just made a beat, but it didn't save. Only half of it that I made earlier. I was a bit disappointed, but other than that, the app is great.

Ringtone. Make it so that I can save my song as a ringtone!! Plz.

Great drum app. For less than the price of a coffee this app has a surprisingly huge amount of options for awesome drum loop creation fun. Not only that it is beautifully designed and well thought out. Easily worth the money. Great work to the developers and designers of this app.

Surprisly good!. I didn't expect it to be that good! Lot of feature/sound , sound good on quality speaker! I really like it, worth it

Crashes when launching.. Just updated to 1.1.2. and no longer works. Hope the next update fixes it.

Unusable - Timing is wobbly, inaccurate. When you open the app for the first time, then solo the HiHat track, you can hear the timing isn't accurate. It changes and wavers over time. I don't know what they're using for a timing system, but this sounds really bad and it makes it irritating to make music with when my ears are constantly picking up the timing wobbles. Ideally this would be sample accurate, but if that's too CPU intensive, then at least something better than the current system. There also doesn't appear to be a way to record any changes made while using the XY pad in effects. You also can't edit the level/pitch, etc over time like you can in the iPad version. I hope they change/fix these things. Be happy I change my review.

Good. Stuff

DM1 Is the BEST Drum Machine. I’ve been playing and recording music for decades and originally found this app for my iPad. If you want a high quality sound for ez beat creations, get this app. You can easily scroll through the amazing selection of kits while your beat is playing to find the right sound.

Crash. Crashes on startup, anyone else experience this? Iphone 4. Emailed fingerlab and was told to wait for an update.. awesome.. wouldnt have bought it if iI had known

Should make it so you can make dubstep. Its good but needs dubstep

An I missing things?. In the picture that you show on the effects screen it shows texturizer and robot effects. There is also an fx1/ fx2 beside the effects. Maybe this is a glitch and you could fix it or maybe it's in a future update but if a glitch please try to fix iPod 4g 32g 5.1.1

Excellent. Nice sounds, huge variety. I have it on my iPhone and iPad and use it often. I would like to be able to save patterns. That’s the only thing on my DM1 wishlist.

Very fun. I would recommend this app to anyone. Works perfectly, and has tons of different features. Could not go wrong, especially at ¢.99! I think the last person to review this is having trouble with their device, or do not know how to use it, because I have not experienced any of the problems stated in his/her review.

Awesome !. For 99c, this app is simply great ! Lots of sounds, endless possibilities! Youll waste a lot of time on this

Great app, but limited. I love this app, because its great for coming up with ideas. But it has a few issues. 1. It doesn't allow exporting to Dropbox like the iPad version does. 2. Sometimes when I export a song, it doesn't export correctly. 3. Where's the option to export your project? If I want to start working on something on my phone and finish it on the iPad or OSx app, I have to remake the entire thing. I wish the makers would give this app an update.

Confused!?!?. Bought this app looks like a great concept but it does not open, I clicked on the app it takes me to the opening page and then closes out. Please help! Thanks

Great drum machine, but... I use this app every day. The interface just makes sense to me, more than other step sequencers on the App Store. However, I'd really like the ability to import my own samples like in the iPad version. I've fully explored the possibility space made available by the included samples and I need something new.

Great drum machine. A well designed interface and a lovely set of features and kits has made this my go-to app for percussion in my music. Excellent work on fixing bugs. I have DM-1 for both my iPhone and iPad.

Inter-app audio trouble. The app is good and fun on its own, but there seems to be difficulty connecting to other apps via inter-app audio. Every time DM1 opens through the connection app, such as DAW or GarageBand, it crashes and the connection is not established. Thoughts on how to fix this? Thanks for your work. - Devin

Awesome App!. Great job on the UI design, coming from the iPad version, DM1 for iPhone is supremely usable and easy to get around on the smaller screen. Get it while it's on sale, it's the best 99 cents you can spend for a wicked cool drum machine with WIST sync, AudioCopy, tons of programmable legendary sounds, and more. Looks great, too!

DM1. So far, so very good. I had cool things happening in a ridiculously short amount of time. A larger palette of sounds to choose from would be nice - but I'm in old school beat box Heaven! Well done Fingerlabsters :-) BTW: I'm using this on an iPhone 4.

Best music tool!!. This app is the best tool for music creation!! It gives you the freedom to make your own beats anywhere and export it later to refine your idea. The only bad thing is that the iphone version doesn't have the sampler feature :(. I hope that in a near future update a sampler will be implemented :D

Import broken?. It's been years since I've really used this app. Every time I install it on a new device and try to import an existing .dm1 project file (e.g. from Dropbox), the app opens but the file does not. I still use the iPad version, which seems to be the only way to open old projects exported from the iPhone version.

Glitch. I've been using this app for a long time and it's great but lately when I try to play patterns they don't repeat and the sounds glitch. I had to delete the app and download it again to get it to work before and it worked fine for a few days but then started doing the same thing again. I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm using the app on an iPhone6s plus.

Unbelievable Steal. I can't believe the capabilities you can get out of this $2.00 app. Easy interface, the ability to mix and match samples, and pretty darn good sound quality for an iPhone. I thought it would be a toy, but it's actually a versatile and usable instrument.

What I've been looking for..... Not perfect, but a huge improvement over what I have been finding for apps like this. I would like to see the pages a bit more simplified insofar as changing individual instruments can only be done on the knobs page. I'm learning this art of drum machines and mixing and modular synths via these apps, so for what it is, as a simulator, it is awesome.

Great app!!. The options on this app are outrageous! Not only are the possibilities endless but its free and better than any other beat maker program I've used! Thank you for making an app that keeps my attention!

Fixed by latest update. A delicious little drum machine with an astounding array of sounds. And it runs in portrait mode on the iPhone so it's great for sketching beats while standing in line and such.

Almost perfect. Still 5 Stars.. This app is amazing, about everything you could want to do is in here. I trust that it will only get better as it gets updated, especially by adding live recording of the mixes, effects, etc. in your Patterns. Randomizer does a decent stand in, but is a little unwieldy at times. There're also lots of other smaller details that can be a little frustrating... but don't be fooled, this is an amazing app, probably the best of its kind!

Best drum machine app for iPhone. I use this to program rhythms for playing guitar over. In my opinion this and garage band are the two best apps out there. The only thing else I would like would be more sounds.

Best Mobile DM; Odd time signatures easy. Great sounding. Easy programming/tweaking. Yay. Setting up Odd or uncommon time signatures is intuitive. The BEST PART is that each pattern can have a different pattern count. That means you can switch time signatures every measure!

Seems cool.. I have messed around with it a little. I really haven't had time to figure out how to use the app. It appears to have a lot of features. Some of the drum tones sound a bit off, or unrealistic. The one coming to mind as I write is the Tom. Other than that great job. And price.

Update. The recent update does not work at all. Hopefully they fix it soon. I enjoy this app but now I can't open it. Been using it for 2 years

Crashes Too Often. Now don't get me wrong, the app is totally great for making creative beats. My biggest issue is when I switch to go to the FX panel the app has never failed to crash on me. Now if I were able to fully use every aspect of the app sure it would probably get 4 stars, but since it crashes without allowing me to use all the features I paid for then I just can't give it more kudos points. Maybe my rating will improve if there's ever a fix.

Optional Quantization On/Off..... This is a solid app. It has a decent set of samples and good FX. I really dig the interface as well. Quantization should be optional though, it's the one limitation that makes this a 4 star app in my opinion. Developer, please consider this for future updates.

Outstanding sound!. Absolutely love this app! I use it all the time both in the studio, and out. Only one issue I have, it makes the volume in my 4S super low. Have to close the app completely through the active app list. Besides that, I love it!

Best beat maker and only a buck.. Not bad at all. Fun to play around with. Best one I found yet. Only wish you could mix other sound in your beat or lay tracks on top of each other. Maybe you can? Perhaps I'm asking to much from a phone app? Lol

Can't export.. Everytime I've tried to export a song to soundcloud it doesn't work. Can't sign on through Facebook to my spun loud account and when I enter my soundcloud details it says it's incorrect when it's not. Other than that it's pretty amazing. Easy to make beats. Just fix the export problem. Also I can't even see to export as an email. I've tried two different email addresses and still nothing.

Have it on the iPad & Now my iPhone!. I'm glad you guys took your time with this app! You guys definitely approached it's look for the iPhone, tremendously well! It's beautiful and easy to use! However I gave it 4 stars because I have yet to find the metronome button. Did you guys forget to include it?

Works flawlessly on iOS 5 iPod touch 4G. It is great for a first version, it doesn't crash. Creative interface, solo/mute on different samples in kit, and great new interface design. Would recommend this to anybody into producing electronic music.

Great App but.... When used in conjunction with Garageband, the beat seems to go out of sync for some reason. I have timed the tracks perfectly but the DM-1 tracks always go out of sync. I'm not sure if the BPM is off for GarageBand or DM-1 but some uniform BPM cross platform would be a tremendous help.

Almost there. Had this app on the iPad and it was one of my favorite apps. This one has a couple of bugs, but I'm sure they'll get it fixed soon. I'm just glad to see it on the iPhone.

Worth the measly $2. For such a lightweight app, this can actually do quite a lot. Set your BPM, choose from so many sets, mix & match, keep tweaking and adjusting, add effects, and then export to your favorite software or keep as is. Intuitive. Useful. Fun. Trade make that $%!+

tempo is off. bad tempo clock. hasn't anyone else noticed this? i can't possibly be the only person who has tried to copy from dm1 and paste into another app. the tempo is never really correct. so far ive had to adjust either dm1 by 1 bpm just to get it to sound decent as a loop in garageband or beatmaker. otherwise the app has some really cool sounds to use and good control layout, but come on. it's really a shame. makes it almost useless to make a real song with. also, no help from developers, report a problem link just goes to their site to buy this app or some dumb games. please fix!

Best Drum Sequencer In App Store!!. To fully appreciate what this app can do, you have to invest a little time. Some of the features are amazing! 32 beats per measure when others offer only 16 alone is worth buying this.

Works great Plz fix audio copy. Everything works great but the audio copy paste does have an issue where the last note is cut short's making it hard to use and other programs. It is a great app and I really hope that updates keep coming. Another thing that might help is more tutorials on some advanced features and how they work since it's not very clear.

$2.99 now?. Tremendous drum machine app. Simulates the classic drum kits very well. I'm glad I got it when it was only 99 cents, though. lol. Can't wait for that big version 2.0 update they promised to come out.

Awesome. Within two minutes of playing around with it, I found that this is an invaluable tool. For the money you get way more than you should, and the sounds are professional.

Best Drum App. Making beats will never be easier than this. DM1 is a dream to work with. Nothing beats hearing a beat on the radio, replicating it in DM1, altering it to make it original, and using it at home for an original song. Also, this app makes beats totally visual. It changes your perspective on how to view beats. My only wish is that the beat loops could be longer, but the developers here have packed enough into the app as it is. If you like making beats, get this. Lots of great drum machines and good ways to alter with reverb, echo, crush. But I wish the reverb sounded cleaner! Keep up the good work, guys. Lots of support from me.

Totally worth more than a buck. Could use slight UI tweaks like sliders for volume and tempo, but great work packing in tons of options and different sounds to mess with. Spent way too much timers sing around so far. Nice integration with soundcloud and fb too. Closest thing to a kit in a box. Highly recommend

Great app but...... There is an annoying ringing sound in the tr-808 bass drum whenever you change the pitch. I also think there should be more drum pads .( high Tom low Tom). And why not allow different effects for every track?

Great!. If you can't figure out how to program on this (like one user below) then you should probably take up another hobby. This has got to be one of the easiest to use drum machines on the iPhone. The sounds are quality over quantity!

Great little app. I'm really impressed with the options and the sound quality , I can play with it for hours... Some of The samples are not too similar to the originals but , hey ! This is free , fun and has a lot of other voices effects and what not...

Love the App, but needs alphabetize. Have been using live for three years. Have at least 60 songs... Can you please make an alphabetize option to keep songs ordered and easier to find? Thanks.

We've been patient.. I'm still giving your app 3 stars because it's amazing. A bonafide multipurpose drum machine that syncs with Garage Band via Audiobus that fits in the palm of your hand? Unreal. Problem is this bug or glitch or whatever. We want to use your 5 star app again. Please fix this. We've been patient.

Upgrade. Love the app, but since the Jan 2017 upgrade I seem to have lost all my presets. Is this going to happen every time there is an upgrade? Not cool, folks.

Fantastic App. Does exactly what you would want a drum machine emulator to do. Easy to figure out, SOOOO many options, such as stringing patterns together to make a songs, good effects and exporting options that work, this is impossible to beat for the price. Well done guys.

If only.... The app is great! But if only we could change the sounds on different parts. It's a pain when I can't put the sounds I want without changing the whole sound for the beat. Fix that please!

Great App.. As a drummer, it's an excellent app to jot down ideas. You can customize each element of your 'set' with different sample libraries. Fun for creating and playing with polyrhythms. Would like to see the addition of triplets.

Audio not working in iOS 8. Ever since upgrading my iPhone 5s to iOS 8, DM1's audio no longer works. Not only that, but apps launched after DM1 also will no longer have working audio (tried other drum machines, several metronomes, and some games). Going into the Sounds list and playing a soundfile seems to restore sound to the other apps, as long as I don't re-launch DM1. Hopefully it won't take long for this to be fixed.

I like, but disappointed. It's cool so far. It takes a while to get use to. I just wish it had at least a 7 band eq, that would make it so much better, please make a update for that. Update I tried the audio copy and paste it works, but the beats I make is so much lower in volume pasting in another app. Also does not sound right when matching tempo together and it makes a popping noise at the end of the beat I make from dm1 pasted into another apps arrangement. So I'm very disappointed so far from this app. I got it to make drum loops for other beat making apps. PLEASE FIX UPDATE PlEASE

DM1+. This is such an old app, time and time again, it proves to be one of the most intuitive enriched drum machine apps to hit iOS market! Hook this up to my buddies looper workstation and he's blown away that a phone can do what I can crank out! I'm confident that this is one of Thee best drum machines money can buy! Kudos fingerlabs well deserved 👏👏🤘

Great drum machine. Unfortunately, it doesn't have effects automation like the iPad version. And yes, it only does 4/4. But what this app does, it does *very* well. And — bonus — the developer is quick to fix bugs! :)

Needs a more in depth tutorial, more sounds. The app so far is quite good, except a few nitpicks. First, the tutorial helps, but some things aren't explained in it, like what certain buttons do. I had to figure most of it by myself. Also, I would like to see more sounds, or the ability to record your own sound and use them as an instrument. More pre-made beats please. I would love to see a similar app with other instruments like piano or guitar.
