Letterpress impresses. Thanks so much for the improvements. Love the bots as it's a quick play til finish. You enable chat and asking people to play. Finding out whether you have a playable word is way simpler. The responsiveness is much faster. Have been enjoying this game for years. Kudos to the redesign team!

Really????!!!. I love this game. But today i tried to play the word "colored" and was not allowed to play it because it was deemed objectionable. REALLY??? The girl opened the coloring book to find that her favorite picture was already colored. So she colored another picture. The criminalization of a good word that has many appropriate applications has colored my opinion of human wisdom. I have hundreds of screen snaps of common words the game does not recognize. MOST INEXPLICABLE DICTIONARY. TOTALLY FRUSTRATING.

Love this game!. I’m a word person and most word games make me roll my eyes. But this one is challenging and fun. I paid a dollar I think it was for the full version because the free version limited me to 3 simultaneous games at a time. Now there are times where I’ve got 13 games going at once. Some players only take their turn every few days, while others are near instant so I always have a challenge available no matter when I pick up my phone.

Problem. I like the game, and the new changes, but for the past few months, when I open the app it looks as if I had made the last move, although there had been an alert (before the app is opened). If I close the app and open it again the opponent’s game is there.

A fun game but needs a better vocabulary. The game design is simple and compelling. It makes for a challenging and competitive gameplay. However it can be improved with a better vocabulary. Some simple obvious words are missing and there are legal words that don’t make any sense in English even going by the most exhaustive of dictionaries. Please make your vocabulary public so the the great hive mind improves it for you.

This is a top 10 all time word game.. This Boggle meets Othello game is so polished and rewarding. Great to play against other people and the matchups work smooth. The bot option is nice when you're off-line/out of Wi-Fi range.

So Fun!. I love the strategy you have to employ to win! I'm not sure if I enjoy winning against someone who doesn't get the strategy of it more or someone who does and it takes forever to beat them lol - either way, a smart, fun game!!

Great for ongoing games with friends. Letterpress is an old classic, and I played it back in those days. I was pleasantly surprised to see the developers have kept working on it. It was already great for playing against your friends casually (make a move when you have time). The new polish for social features is a great plus. If you haven’t played Letterpress, you should check it out!

Score!. I’m really enjoying the game. However, instructions are unclear as to how to actually play the game. This includes scoring, letter blocking, and exchange. My queries to LetterPress resulted in a non-specific response. I’m muddled through and figured most of it out on my own. I have learned a lot by playing against the Bots. Alll that being said, it’s a fun and challenging activity.

Great game!. This game is lots of fun. However, we play to see how many words we can find, not to be the first to go out. At some point, the “words played” list goes black. I need this corrected so I can see how many words we’ve played. Please work on making this happen.

Two things please. This would be so much better if it used a real word-game list, such as CSW15. Currently the game allows a lot of fake words, and disallows a lot of valid words. Also, I think creativity and game play would be improved if the center tile was a wild card. And I’m sure many current players would agree AND disagree with that, so maybe it could be a variation? Please!

Don’t install 4.9.2 on iPad Pro. This update broke the app. Freezes upon launch on iPad Pro running iPad OS 13.3.1. Update: 4.9.3 was made available a day later and all issues with the app on iPad Pro seem to be fixed.

Great Game, But.... One of the most brilliant word games ever devised, but be ready to accept the poor dictionary connected to it. I have played this game daily since it was released in 2012. Since it’s such a fun game, I put up with the unnecessary comments that the current admins have added to it, such as explanations about why some words are not allowed. They can be a bit condescending. Also, if you don’t learn which word abbreviations are allowed, you’ll unexpectedly lose a few games. I’ll give you one that really comes in handy: QQ The stats are interesting, but lack a true ranking system. Those who play the most get listed. The personal stats are nice, though. If this wasn’t such a brilliant game, I’d have moved on long ago, but alas, I just love playing it!

Tricky at First. It took me awhile to get my mind around the strategy of this game, and I almost deleted it off my phone several times. But now that I understand it, I really enjoy it. One suggested improvement: a next game button. When you finish your move in one active game, it would be nice if it gave you the option to go to the next active game, instead of having to return to the menu every time.

Fun but dictionary limited. So many possible words are not accepted. Frustrating. Clearly not controlled by fluent English speakers. This could be fixed, and with all the complaints about this, it is surprising they haven’t tried to improve. In fact, when I complained that they did not accept so many, many words, they were exceedingly rude, and emailed me, calling me a racist because I questioned their familiarity with English words which I found in many online dictionaries.

Good gameplay. Interesting gameplay. It's not just about making the longest words, like most people think at first. I also really like that a purchase/upgrade unlocks the full game outright, unlike other games that still have stupid currencies, cool down timers, and whatnot *cough cough ALPHABEAR cough cough*

Classic and perfect. I love that this game isn’t full of unwanted options and challenges like everything from zynga (who I am boycotting forever based on their aggressive, annoying, self- interested tactics). I’ve convinced all my friends to switch to this great game that I somehow missed originally. We all love it! So many layers to think about and master. Super fun.

Great levels of challenge. I really enjoy this game! I love that the bots are ready to play anytime, and as soon as I start feeling smart in my bot-beating skills I can play a tougher bot and start over again. It is also fun to set up some favorite players and wait for their responses. Having limited letters really makes you have to work for some of these words.

Enjoying it!. One suggestion: some of the words the “bad word filter” catches are truly not bad words. You might cause a young person to want to know why he can’t write “fairy” and other such innocent words. I’d rather not needlessly plant seeds in kids’ heads.

Boo to the ads between turns,. Letterpress has been my FAVORITE game since I purchased the app years ago. I had deleted it (needed space on phone to take pics), and today reinstalled it. I've been updating the app whenever they are available, but for the first time ever, I am being subjected to ads for violent, distasteful apps/games. WHY????? Usually when one pays for an app, there are no ads!!!! I don't expect to be subjected to apps in a game that I've purchased. Either the ads go, or the app goes!

Ads are horrible... HORRIBLE!. The game itself is entertaining but after virtually every turn you must endure an ad. Recently, there is a 2 to 3 second lapse after you take your turn where the screen freezes and you can’t do anything until the ad plays. A few times I’ve unknowingly tapped the x to exit during this lapse and it automatically whisks me off to the App Store. Annoying, to say the least. I contacted their tech support who claimed they’ve made no changes to the ad format. Not sure I believe that. I feel this is a money making ploy, and I’ll be honest - I hate it. UPDATE: Today, May 14, I encountered a 30-second ad after one of my turns. It was a FRANKENSTEIN RISING HOUSE OF FUN SLOTS ad. Is this what’s coming now, 30-second ads? And of course there’s no way to click out of it, so we must endure it. Horrible. UPDATE: And I got it again 10 minutes later. UPDATE: you keep claiming the ad setup hasn’t changed but I beg to differ. Instead of continually claiming that, maybe more importance and attention should be placed on what players are saying. The ad placement and/or functionality HAS changed, regardless of claims to the contrary. Ads now have a timer on 5 second them, and occasionally longer than 5. They didn’t have a timer in them until recently. The fact that you don’t understand what I mean escapes me because I tried to detail exactly what I’m experiencing. UPDATE: I keep getting this scripted “not sure what you are talking about” response from the developer.

I agree, totally addictive. Have been playing nearly daily since 2012. Great for a quick break at work to clear my head. Love the graphics. New features continue to improve play. PolyBot is great for quick, challenging play; EvilBot thinks he's so smart but I love to out-strategize him. Love this game.

Clean elegant interface - way better than WWF. Super game- and responsive business, I love their gig - plus it's the best user interface in games today- both beautiful and intuitive - a fun break, 3 minute challenge and a way to 'connect' with a friend in just one word! Great fun, optional color schemes and chat options and upgrades so reasonable!

What happened to spanish?. I love playing this game with my spanish speaking relatives but it seems that the spanish selection feature was taken out. Why?!? It works amazing! To this day i can STILL play in spanish with those who added it to the app when you guys said yall released it for testing i think, but now anyone who is new to this game and downloads has NO WAY of accessing the spanish language version of this app. Truly frustrating and dissappointing. When i email the developers, they say they have no idea how i even have access to such a function even though i send screenshots of the game taking action in spanish 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great phone word game. Unlike other spelling games in this category, Letter Press feels great on the phone. No pinching in and out to zoom, no crazy power ups... Just one clean, responsive game board. Also, you can pay to remove the ads – hooray!

Love the competition. Love the strategies the need to be used. Forces you to think. Only drawback are those immediate pop ups after a game is complete. It becomes annoying at times.

I like the game but. For no discernible reason my in play games disappear and lately even my profile & avatar. The “bad words” filter is dumb. If you’re going to have one, check out the words considered “bad” a little more closely. “Knocker” is not really a “bad word.” And right now I am unable to submit this review because my personal nickname on this site is already taken (by me) and so is every other one I’ve tried so far. I’ll keep at it tho.

Play This Fun Word Game Daily. I love Letterpress! It is a fun, challenging word game and can be fast paced. I get frustrated when people start playing then quit mid game when they are losing. I have had up to 25 games going at one time but maybe only 9 active games. I like the feature that makes a player forfeit after 5 non-playing days.

Fave Game - some suggestions. I love this game and i play it with all my loved ones. easy to learn, but figuring out strategies is fun and rewarding. minimal ad interruptions are appreciated and can be turned off for a small and reasonable one time fee. some features i would love to see 1) view rotation. like if you turn your screen upside down the letters rotate so you can see your letters a different way without them moving place. 2) a timed game mode where you race against the clock for a quicker game than the standard daily move style. overall it’s a perfect little game and we really appreciate the devs. <33 :p

Why am I getting ads?. Several years ago, I bought the premium version of the game so I wouldn’t have to be bothered by ads. When the game recently froze, I downloaded a new version. When I subsequently stated on this site that I found ads on the app, admins made sure that the no ad feature continued. Thank you! I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of the game and the ease with which it normally works.

New owner is ruining it. This app is getting worse and worse with each new revision. The new owner does not have common sense. They logged me out of the app and won’t let me log back in again. I suspect this is because they didn’t like how Game Center keeps private user information like email address private. I guess they want to harvest email addresses. Usually companies do this so they can partner with ad companies to feed private user behavior and preferences into ad networks, for a payoff. Or so they can otherwise profit in some way from hooking into the tracking systems that are available to them once they get hold of the users email address. All this tracking is why Apple Game Center does not reveal the address to the game developer. I’d prefer it if Letterpress stuck with Game Center instead of taking this new route.

Have been playing it for years and love it!. My mom and I discovered this word game on a trip and played it back-and-forth many times. We live about 60 miles from each other, and have been playing it back and forth for about four or five years. If I don’t take my turn in five days or so, mom will actually email me and remind me to please take my turn. That’s how much she looks forward to it.

Letterpress review. I very much enjoy playing, but find the Letterpress Dictionary baffling and frustrating. Letterpress recognizes non-words while refusing widely-used words. Letterpress should adopt a universally recognized source such as Merriam-Webster. Also, LP considers “realtor” a proper noun, but recognizes “lawyer” as a common noun. Where’s the logic there?

Inventive, simple wi a few flaws. I rated Letterpress 5-Stars because it’s in the top echelon of app games. I don’t mean that it is without its design shortcomings, however. I will make the following 3 observations: (1) it’s fun, and as you play more you figure out alternative strategies to the initial attack & burrow-in approach which can be equally effective. I like the minimalism of its rules, format and operations. (2) the lexicon continues to baffle me. I still play words which are valid but disallowed. And the abundance of foreign words that are allowed are disconcerting (“zapateros” was a recent example and there are numerous Russian and Arab transliterations which are allowed). (3) I lose 10% of my games. Half of those are the result of a failure to foresee the favorable board I leave my opponent after submitting. A “preview” key would be nice but it detracts from the minimalism of the design and fosters laziness. Of the remaining 5%, half of those are bonafide words that I know and had not considered. The other half are walk-off winners which I have never heard of. Everyone has vastly different backgrounds and expertise so you can never be sure how they know these words. But archaisms and obsolete technical terms are a give away. And I bet there are a large number of players who are expert Scrabble players who routinely study word lists and unusual letter combinations. Thank you, Atebits.

Not just another word game. This is a genuine original, not merely another lookalike. Real creative thought went into the mechanics and design of this game - very impressive. So far I’ve played only against the bots. Bot 1 is pretty dumb, but Bot 2 requires thought, Bot 3 is hard for me to beat, and Bot 4 is probably unbeatable. I’ve had one game against a friend, but the bots are more challenging. One star off for the horribly intrusive ads, which sometimes can be dismissed only with difficulty, and the rather high price of getting rid of them completely, which is $5. I like to think I’m pretty good at word games. Of course I may be deluding myself, but I suspect that bot-based play will be too difficult for most people. Excellent app overall. I’m tempted to check out the creators’ other efforts.

Hateful new feature. I hate how suddenly when you remove a game it automatically starts a new one with the same player. I want to choose if I wish to continue or not. Now I’m forced to have to resign a game and it’s a time waster and definitely cuts into my enjoyment. Wish they would cut it out.

Fun and Challenging!. My favorite word game to date! The strategic element of the game is quite fun and unique, and pushes the limits of your vocabulary better than any word game I’ve played. Huge recommend! Developer Suggestion - Perhaps add a speed mode, where turns are limited to a few minutes. Fun feature in other competitive games. 👍

Upgrades are Worth It. I bought this games ages ago. I played it very frequently with friends and co-workers until it kind of feel out of sight for awhile. I recently picked it back up, got my wife to download it, and we’ve been playing for awhile. The new features are spot on while maintaining the older ones that were implemented fantastically. Keep the good work!

Love Letterpress. I've been playing this wonderful game for a couple of years. It's fun and it's good my mind. I also love at times playing with the Bots. Each game is fresh and new, and if you really don't like the board you have, you can exchange it. My daughter told me about it and now we play regularly. I really do love it. Thanks to the creators.

Broken on iPhone 12. When it’s my turn and I tap on different letters, the submit button is always highlighted even if the word is not valid. On my iPad, however, the submit button is dimmed until I enter a valid word. This just started happening last week. Please fix!

Thanks a lot!. Just received an answer to my complaint (see below). You are correct that app ads do not appear when you are playing the bot, but I am still getting a popup after every online turn. If this is not supposed to happen, please tell me how to fix it. Thanks. The latest update brings me to a possible app download after every turn. So annoying! At least Spider, and other games only do that after you have won. Please consider removing this annoying "feature." I am guessing there is a pay version that does not do that, but that's kind of a mean turn after providing a very nice free version for so long. My four rating will be downgraded to two stars if this is not changed.

Fun, addictive and just challenging enough. Best when I find an evenly matched player, and I've found quite a few. Then this is a fun brain teaser, just hard enough to be interesting but not so hard that it's frustrating. I love it.

Addicting to verbophiles!. Love this and my best friends do, too. I live in Hawai'i and hardly use my real vocabulary. Keeps my brain sharp and great while waiting for someone. I hate cheaters who don't rely on their own brains. But Dictionary is really limited. I have had many solid English words rejected. Hope they update!

The greatest game ever. I love this game, and played it all the time with my wife while we were both at work. She has since determined I’m too difficult an opponent and lost interest in playing against me, so the (presumably recent) addition of bot opponents has given the game infinite replay value, even among the antisocial types like me who would rather not play at all than be forced to play against random human opponents. Letterpress was always great, but the bot opponents now move it firmly into the realm of “my favorite mobile game of all time”. Keep being awesome, Letterpress (and maybe continue to introduce more bot archetypes over time)!

Not fair. If I open with a strong word and am auto matched to someone who decides to resign rather than play, why do I lose the opportunity to play with that starter word? Why not let that person choose to leave but let someone else join to play against me and my strong opening word? It isn’t fair that I lose the opportunity to play the game I started.

Fun game, but doesn't update. I've enjoyed this for a while. It's very different from other word games, and requires a new strategy. My one problem is that it doesn't update correctly. I get a notification (from the app) that my opponent has moved and it's now my move, but when I open the app, it still shows the game before my opponent's move. I have for close the app completely and reopen to get it to show properly. Mildly annoying. Update: the problem has (mostly) been resolved. Excellent customer support!

A clever game that will hook you in. Don’t start playing unless you have some free time. On the other hand, you need never fear being alone, or forgotten at the doctor’s office. When you’re tired it refreshes you. True, some people are better at it than I am. But there’s nothing like the little squirt of dopamine when I come from behind and use up those last 6 free letters.

Great Word Game!. I really enjoy this app! I like that I can play a quick moving game against a Bot, or play more leisurely against different people; even select favorite people a that I like to play against. It's also nice that there is a built in dictionary, so I can easily learn definitions of new words. It's a very fun way to exercise my mind a little!

Handicap for Second Player would make this 5-Stars. A great game that would be 5-stars if some kind of handicap was implemented for the player playing second. Right now the first player gets an overwhelming and often insurmountable head start. Some possible ways to even the odds: 1. Limit the length of the first played word 2. Limit the number of blockable tiles of the first played word. 3. Lower threshold for victory for second player and increase for first player. Maybe 11-14 is enough for second player to win but first player needs 14-11 to win. None of these would take away from the general enjoyment of the game and would make for interesting decisions at the beginning and during the game. Even without this though, LetterPress is a great game that I’ve played for many months now and continue to enjoy. A great combination of vocabulary and strategy in a very elegant app.

Love my coffee in the AM. I open letterpress the moment i fill my coffee. i always have a lot of games going. it pushes me!! i have about 30 games going. and with some contacts 5 or 6. different games. i loves that it’s in different time zones. there are always letters to fill during the day. what a great game!!! Thank you🥹🥹

Outstanding. I was just thinking to myself yesterday that the App Store was lacking a really innovative Async word game. 'Lo and behold, look what we have here - an absolute masterpiece of both strategic gameplay and wordplay, all wrapped up in a masterfully presented interface. Can't speak highly enough about Letterpress to all I come across.

Best Game. This is such a great game. Have played for years and years. Love it.... and the new features.

Cheats game. This is the most ridiculous game because if you bother to check words used by the lexibot you’ll find that lots of them aren’t in the lexibot or any other dictionary, but because the lexibot has played them, they are ALLOWED However, if you play a word not in the lexibo dictionary, it is automatically DISALLOWED, even if it ACTUALLY IS a word FOUND in another dictionary 😜😜😜 So the response to this was “Not true, the boys play from the same dictionary” Well, that’s NOT TRUE because when a word played by the boys is not found in the lexibot dictionary you are referred to three other dictionaries, but when you play a word not found, it is simply disallowed!!! So following on from this today the bot played the word “degenerations” which although was not in the letterpress dictionary was allowed, and although I checked all 3 dictionaries I could not find a plural of degeneration. And here’s another Linished, frantics, standardless. So the bot just won the game with Handjars. Not on o any of their dictionaries ‘AGAIN’ My last post with yet another word played by bot, but not in any of the three dictionaries they refer you to STRUPMETED This could be a great game if they just didn’t cheat

Brain tester. Longitude spelling - how refreshing. Test the old grey matter 👍🏻

Updates lost all my data. Very unhappy

Letterpress. I downloaded this game around a week ago, I actually thought this game was a great idea. Then I played a couple of games and it's now been days since any opponent has replied, then there's someone trying to start a Spanish game with me when I need English, can't something like that be fixed in a basic setting letterpress end? Because opponents were taking so long I tried to start another game, discovered that if have to pay to play more games. So, I did pay and honestly nothing has happening, just a couple of totally stagnant games that's now clearly un-fun, so much so that I would like my money back. Very unhappy.

Challenging and Fun. This game is a great way to get the brain thinking. By playing with another opponent on game centre it becomes more challenging, because many people know many different words. This is great for mostly all ages (except for babies of course). It also really helps me to widen my vocabulary. Awesome game. 5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Game but needs fixing. I am so addicted to this game but there are some problems that really need to be fixed. These problems include that sometimes i get a notification that another player has played on but when i open the app, they are not there even after restarting. also i was playing with a friend and they played on but it didnt show up on my app. PLEASE update and fix these problems. otherwise this is an amazing game. really addictive

Good fun.. It's a great game, fun and interesting. I wish there was a reward for winning a game, earning points towards new themes or a simple point tally against everyone's names. Maybe even special items that can be used within a game. Very fun game, it could be even better with the option for a large play field with more letters. I don't have any problems with bugs.

Great game but the ads spoil it.. Hate the ads love the game.

Great for couples. Would you like a good ios game to play versus your spouse? But something different than Words with Friends? Letterpress allows you take a quick turn, then your spouse does, then you take another quick turn, etc. It is easy to quickly to size up the board, and then it takes some thought to make your turn (if you want a chance to win!). The game's dictionary blocks what aren't words, which encourages you to experiment and try what might be words, with no penalty. Have two games going simultaneously with your spouse. The game keeps its interest, and your skills advance (both of you) with more play. The game remembers where you are at on its cloud, so you can play the current game from any of our ios devices. For example, I sometimes play from iPad and sometimes play from iPhone. This game has become a regular at this time for us.

Perfect Game. I love this game. It's simple, engrossing and smart. The one function I would like to see is the ability for the players to pick the pace they would like to play. In the quick pace if the player doesn't finish his/her turn in 5 minutes or something, they lose their turn. And you can have a slower pace for people who play one or turns a day. Someone suggested the ability to communicate to the other player. It's not a bad idea but some might prefer the anonymity, so it must be something smart that caters to individual preferences.

ReneePiab. Love the game which is totally addictive. It’s helped me to expand my word knowledge tremendously.

Well done!. Love the concept, although I think the dictionary needs some fine tuning. Have downloaded the full version but it is quite frustrating when players bale after two words played. Maybe the game should be terminated by default after a certain amount of time. Looking forward to further improvements.

One of the best. Great app. It would be even better if we could make suggestions to the developer and he/she listened. Please allow feedback - surely it would be to the developer's benefit too. Despite some annoyances it's still one of my favourite and most used apps- and many thanks for developing it. Here are my suggestions 1. I use valid words that get rejected as not being in the letterpress dictionary (maybe because they're not commonly used in the US). Could a "submit a word to developers for consideration" be added? So annoying when you know that real words are being rejected. E.g the abbreviated"fax" is accepted whilst the original word "facsimile" is rejected. 2. Concur with others, when an opponent stops playing, the only option is to resign the game. If they refuse to play there should be a time limit after which the app resigns them (maybe after 2 weeks - which allows for vacation, internet issues, emergencies etc) 3. I paid for the upgrade which works on my ipad, but still get the message on my iphone that I need to upgrade to access upgraded version. 4. I have a favourite player I've been playing for months, but continually get error message #8 "invalid player" on some of my rematch attempts. I don't want to lose this valued opponent, but I foresee the day that this may happen due to the #8 error glitch. Nevertheless, a great app.

👍. Simple, stimulating and addictive.

Brilliant letter game. It’s fun, strategic and good to keep the mind active. I learn and remember new words. And it’s quiet unlike many of the noisy irritating aps. I love it!

Can’t Wait. Excellent game. Can’t wait for Letterpress the musical.

My favourite iPhone game. The best word game ever. Looks great and so much fun. A couple of suggestions: - I would love some sort of messaging function to the other player, or at the very least a 'nudge' function - Pass and play would be good too Download this game and challenge me!

Great. Love it love it 👍

Bugs bugs bugs. Everyone I finish a game to win I get an error message. I end up having to close the app and re open it then I find I've win and the final score - very annoying. TODAY the letters I used did not change to my colour but the score reflected the correct word. Plus an opponent was able to win despite the fact that every letter she used was blocked by me ???? Can you pls look into this / especially the 2nd problem. AND PUT THE MOST CURRENT REVIEW FIRST!!!! who cares about 2012???

Fantastic Game. Perfect balance of turn–based, at–your–leisure gameplay, but I want to be able to plan out my next move for each game to use later when it's my turn, but the way the menu changes prevents this.

Very polished game, good fun, and no ads or Facebook!. A great game to play with others than have iPhones and iPads. Good for those who prefer not to mix up Facebook and Games. Addictive gameplay, fast to open, lots of polish, and works great with Game Center. Would love to see leader boards of win/loss tally per person. And the status bar when playing.

Surprisingly fun!. I thought this was one of those boring word games, it PROVED ME WRONG! I LOVE THIS APP! It's so simple and looks so good when I'm playing it on my iphone. Would love if notifications had the app icon and not game centre... App icon is not ugly compared to gamecentre! I bought the upgrade to support the devs! You guys are amazing!

Why ads tho?. It’s great, but I wish there was a way to play without the ads

Addictive. A wonderful game that helps increase your vocabulary as well as being lots of fun. My favourite game!

Better & better. Great game, great upgrades, stats are a great idea although some of the leaderboard info is confusing & hard to interpret. It's not clear what "unique words played" or "unique opponents beaten" mean. It would be good to have some metric that lets a player see the extent to which they have improved over time - that's motivating. Update - taking off a star bc the dictionary is becoming very poor. Yesterday it said "salicylic" (as in acid, i.e. Aspirin) wasn't a word, and now it says "cagoule" isn't a word either. Recently it has allowed an opponent to play a word that it earlier prevented me from playing, and after it had been played told me the word didn't exist, not that it had been played already!! Please sort this out!

Fun, strategic, well worth the download!. Great game! I never review games but this one deserves it. I like that it's original and isn't made by one of the big companies, which is why I'm considering purchasing the full version (plus I want more games!) A pass and play option would be great, it's always fun to play with your partner and not many games allow for pass and play. I'm not sure how much the upgrade costs, I read it was $1 which is a great reasonable price. Would love to hear about more games from this developer? Thanks for the app, good work!

Added feature. How about having somewhere to write a comment so that if you are going to be away for a few hours your opponent will know or you can congratulate them on a great word. How about a side panel alongside the game so you can see all you games at a glance. Just downloaded it and looks like another addictive game. What do the faces mean and the numbers under them. Maybe you could include these explanations in your next update.

Poor servers. This really is the most fun and original word game I've played in ages. But it no longer works... broken... dead... They failed to support this app with proper server infrastructure. Hopefully it gets better. Also the game has some teething problems with rechallenging opponents easily... and the 5x5 grid format means a huge advantage to whomever goes first when players with both good word making ability and tile capture strategy square off. Make it 6x6 or 7x7 or perhaps have variable grids... A good statistician/mathematician could tell them the optimal size for the board but 5x5 really means a certain victory for one. I almost hope Zynga rips this off. At least we know it will work.

Beautiful Design. Yeah, look, I'm just gonna have to say that this is one of the best word games available on iOS. It's sheer brilliance in design. The asynchronous style of play is great - I'm always excited when it's finally my turn again (hurry up, other player)! Thank you atebits; looking forward to future apps.

Great game - just a couple of issues. "Boggle" meets "Go". I upgraded to the paid version simply because I appreciate the gameplay so much - I am loving it! I also love the minimalist graphic design - all the better to concentrate on the game itself. Some bugs and suggestions: 1. It seems to have trouble connecting to the Game Center on submitting sometimes. The only solution seems to be to fully quit the app with the double tap home button trick and come in again. 2. Maybe related: sometimes I get a push notification of an opponent moving, but when I go into the game it still says waiting for move. 3. Suggest you add a "rate in App Store" button under "more" somewhere. So like I said at the start: love it.

Fun word game with a strategy. Have been playing this game for a few years and still really enjoy it. It is a great thinking game, that you can play at your own pace. All ages can play this too, even you kids learning to read and write.

Great game but.... My favorite game!!! but there's a few really annoying bugs to reduce it's five star rating to three: *Too slow to submit your word/turn - most times it takes ages then says 'error , retry', it takes an avg of three goes to submit the turn - frustrating!!! * wld be good to have stats about gamesets for each player, alternate who goes first if to rematch * identify if someone had chosen a rematch with you - I resign from games where it's obvious opponent using cheat app to get words or just adds an 's' or 'er' to my words and has no brains to find their own m * I suggest a 'back to top' button b/c when its scrolled to end of game list it takes too long to scroll back to top to get active games * needs an feedback email contact available in-app - I wldn't have changed my review from 5stars if it did b/c I wld have just sent an email first

Great but cheats. Love the game addictive as it is frustrating. Too many cheats and if you are way out front the other player just leaves. Game should be defaulted to you. Also need a scoring system for your and competitors reference. How many won, lost and forfeited. Great game.

Mme. For a replay I send a friend request. I advise the people who are saying that responses take too long to pay the $1 and play lots of games simultaneously. It is also fun when both parties avoid a possible win and just pit wits for the best words. The dictionary is a bit odd to say the least, with some real words out and some unreal ones in!

Advertising. The adds last for too long and you don’t make always easy to exit them

Almost great. Really is a great game. But Devs can I suggest two little things please? 1) a default forfeit after a set period of time as people leave games open for weeks with no activity. 2) some sort of way to track your win/loss average and, even better, measure it against the letterpress masses. Props though on a great game.

LOVE this game. Letterpress requires a real balance between vocabulary and strategy. It's much more competitive than scrabble-style games, because you and your opponent face off directly with exactly the same letter selection. There are cheats available, but cheaters are fairly obvious so it's easy to give them the flick. Game interface is very simple, sleek and user-friendly. This is by far my most-played game.

Needs fixing. I've loved this game for a few years now, but I rarely play anymore because it's so buggy. It never tells me when it's my turn, so it's easy to forget about it. When I do remember to check, it often doesn't open at all. Deleting and reinstalling did not help.

Classic game. This is an all-time classic game, with multiple layers of strategy and high replayability due to changing boards and opponents. Only drawback is that it doesn't have leaderboards - I would like to know where I stand in relation to everyone else! Would add motivation to play more too. Also, it needs a better way if notifying you when you've won or lost a game.

Great game, but one suggestion. Fantastic game! However... often I think of a great word or two for later turns but there is no ability to jot those words down within the particular game. How about a 'Notes' button in each game to allow me to do this?

The best of word games. I have been playing this game for 7 years. It is truly a great game. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to have a fun and often challenging game with friends and/or the bots. I prefer to play against my father and friends. Thank you for making such an awesome game and keeping it working well for so long ❤️

Innovative. Interesting and challenging

Hours of fun. Can't say enough good things about this app. Its design is beautiful and minimalist, with nothing cluttering up the screen other than the cool looking board itself. Gameplay is slick, fast, competitive and really fun. Other word games feel like Fisher Price toys after playing this! :)

Much improved. I've been playing Letterpress for a long time. There were a lot of issues under the previous developer. After a shaky start with the new developers, can now see marked improvements. Much more stable and some great enhancements coming through.

Beautiful. Beautiful game play. Elegantly simple rules and quite addictive. The only flaw is the propensity for opponents to refuse to complete the game, either be resigning or playing out the final move. Please, introduce a timed game (like speed chess) in which players must make a turn within 10 minutes or forfeit. And please don't add a leader board or score. That will only encourage people to cheat in order to climb the ladder. Finally, players should forfeit if they haven't made a turn within 24 hours in the current game style. I'm sick of waiting for opponents who never respond.

Easy to play, harder to master. I thoroughly recommend this game. It is deceptively simple, but offers some great challenges for strategic players. As others have said, it would be nice to have re-match function to allow you to jump straight back into a new game against the "friend" who just beat you by one measly point, but that's just a minor quibble. Much more engrossing that that other word game with the yellow tiles ;-)

Fantastic game. Have been playing for years. Very enjoyable.

Good game but waiting is annoying. This game is simple and fun but it's so annoying how it takes ages for the other player to submit a word. There really should be a pass button or an automatic pass if the other player doesn't submit anything. Once it took someone three days to submit a word!! Other than the waiting time, I think this game is really good and I like how you log into Game Center instead of Facebook.

Challenges. Stretches.. This game both challenges me daily & stretches me to find ‘the’ word that will keep me ahead or bite at the heels of my opponent. And, it has been my best friend during covid times!

Letterpress. My favourite game on my phone!

Addictive!. The only word game that rivals Scrabble. I can’t leave it alone.

Love this game. Great game , lots of FUN & certainly keeps my mind active as I get older .... love the game 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻Five thumbs up 😄

Annoying ads. I enjoy the game, but ads are annoying

Totally awesome 😎. So fun you really have to use your brain

Longest game?. I’m curious if you know what the longest game is to date ? My friend and I have been playing a single game of Letterpress for 5 months (started on Aug 29) and we are now up to 1178 words played. We have been stuck with 3 open tiles (z,x and g) for months and we are still finding enough good words that neither of us is willing to risk losing the game to go after those three letters. Weird and wonderful….

Best word game I've played!. Great game! This is, for sure, my favourite game.

Needs fixes.. Latest update removed block that keeps players from adding an s to your word, and it makes most games repetitive and tedious.

Letterpress. Simple is better? In this case it is. However, the game quickly gets more complicated as you learn new strategies and stretch your vocabulary. Good sport on rainy days.

Nearly 1200 games played with my pal.. Game never gets old. Play it with a friend online - takes a few days per game back and forth. Out of 1200 games I’ve won around 500 over the last few years. Yes he’s smarter than me. But I’m funnier. Request: allow non-words if opponent agrees. If opponent disagrees it’s a passed turn. Great for goofy words, slang, insults etc.

So good!. Great update! Such a fun word game.

Great Game, funny update notes.. I don't usually review, but had to give you props because of your latest update notes. It really is a fun game.

Absolutely phenomenal. Amazing game. Addicting gameplay, intuitive UI, great production value and the developer responds to emails within minutes. VERY VERY IMPRESSED

Lots of fun. Original and engaging.

Great game. Loving this game. Thanks. Also be sure to read the update comments. Best ones I've read so far 😀

So glad this is still around. I used to play this many years back with my wife. Today I saw it was still around with some pretty cool improvements. Thanks for keeping this game alive!

Keeper. One word app that has travelled from phone to phone to phone I still use it everyday.

Letterpress. Good game, but I would appreciate return of a game feature. I used to be freely able to check the history of words created in the current game. I have enjoyed this game for quite some time.

Awesome!!!. I am addicted too this game! My dad introduced me to it, and I love it!! So fun and addicting! Get this game it is so amazing!! And it’s great because you can play against whoever you want, and the bots have different modes of difficulty. This game is the best, you need it! Get the game!! Get it! Please! Get the game! (Ps. I I would rate 10/5 stars if possible)

Still Excellent. The quality of this game holds up after all these years and the developer is still providing excellent and immediate support.

Letterpress. Letterpress is kind of like SCRABBLE

5-Star until recently. This has been my favourite word game app hands-down…. until now. I’m on board with a few ads, which it always had, but lately the ads are all lengthy and there are too many. I have decided to break up with Letterpress through attrition. As each of my games finish, I won’t be starting a new one. I’m really sad about it, but I keep trying to convince myself it’s just a game. Bye bye Letterpress. I still love you, but you’ve gone overboard with the ads.

Good game but contains ads, no pay alternative. This is an interesting game but I’ve deleted it due to the mandatory ads. I’d be happy to pay for it, even if I end up not using it.

Great Fun. Along the lines of Spelltower but turn based. Great fun for families with multiple iOS devices.

Really fantastic awesome great.. Not only is the game superb, but, I know the developer put a lot of dedication into this app just by the way he describes the latest update; he (or she, how would I know) is a real person and is only concerned about delivering a quality app to the consumer. And the dev has done so.

Hate this app. Lost my username on the last upgrade, developer would not respond , poor poor poor

Lollypal. Love this game

Fun game, not sure what happened to it. The bot illustrations and naming seem out of place with the clean and minimal aesthetic. Would have loved to see more happen with new features and stuff.

Still got it!. By far my favourite word game!

My favourite multiplayer word game.. Best word game

Great game. And features.. Keep it up!!!

It’s been years of great play. A fun game, very minimal bugs, no in game purchases preventing ongoing enjoyment, no advertising from other apps. Just a fun word game... enjoy.

Sharp. Letterpress keeps one sharp. Play as fast or as slow as you like. Very simple engaging game.

Simple, yet addicting fun!. Love the game!! Like Scrabble, Risk, and War had a weird baby, and this popped out!! (Also: the dev seems like a cool person! Just check the update lists!!)

Claim Victory - NOT. This game is fun but very annoying as it pushes you to play at least every 5 days. There should be a option to not get reminded. Some people have busy lives and may miss some days

Awesome game!. Not only is this a fantastically fun game, I’ve made new friends all over the world while playing it, some of whom I now talk to on a regular basis. Highly recommended!

Better than Cat!. Meow.

Love. In love with this game, quite addictive

Loren is a warrior-poet. This game is great.

Amazing. Such a simple and fun app. A lot of mental fun too.

Slow motion. Love this game ❤️ and have played it for several years but lately it moves literally in slow motion. The speed of tiles moving up or returning down are are crawling very slowly, about 30% of the time. Thanks in advance for your response!

I play daily. Play when you have a moment, there is no pressure. I usually have 3 games on the go. With my mom, we aim to get as many words as we can per board. With my competitive friends, I play to win; capturing a corner and then expanding is a strategy. Have fun!

Awesome word game. But I agree.. annoying ads, I play this less often because of this. So unfortunate because it’s so good

Love it!. Updated to add that the more recent versions of this game have a lot of bugs - I have games I can't get rid of, games that I still have but my partner can't see, etc. I have a game I have tried to resign multiple times as it's stuck and I just can't get rid of it. Game count is off. Not sure what is going on.... An addicting game that can accommodate others schedules by allowing you to play a game with friends when each has time. I only gave it 4 stars because there appears to be a limit of 25 games at a time, and I find this frustrating because sometimes you are waiting for others to take their turn and want to start a new game!

Great game. Simple and attractive interface, and addictive gameplay. I almost wish the upgrade had been more than 99 cents, the dev deserves every dollar they make!

This game is good. Haven't played it long enough to judge the staying power of it, but so far it's pretty awesome. Strategic + wordy. And it all looks so so so good.

This game rocks!. A must-have app for all competitive word gamers!

Letterpress. Love the game but oh how frustrating is the rigmarole to check on who took the last move! Can’t you improve on that with just one tap or something!

This game is awesome!. Well done. Great innovation, I wish you all the success

Fantastic. Been playing back and forth with my wife for years now. The only puzzle game we've ever been evenly matched. Great for the little time we have these days.

My favorite game. Been playing for 7 years now. Can’t leave home without it

Brilliant game. Letterpress is a gem that deserves more attention. Seems simple at first but this game has a strategic depth that separates it from other word games. Really is remarkable and a joy to play.

Out of town. My Northern brother and I stay in touch playing letterpress. We alway have new words for each other.

Thoroughly enjoyable. Easy to learn. Adaptable to time constraints. Only drawback is that the player that plays first has large advantage. I am finally learning to spell.

Ruined. This used to be one of my favorite games, but I quit playing it a few years ago. I just redownloaded it but couldn’t even get through a game with one if the bots... the new owners of this game have ruined it. There are obtrusive ads, and the refined design, minimalism and typography of the old letterpress game is gone. Look no further than the bot graphics. How disappointing. Deleted again after ten minutes.

Awesome, Fun, Brain powering. This is a fun game that one can play against the AI brain, friends or random competitors across the world. Keeps the brain agile and provides hours of fun.

Excuse me developer, but. This is a good game except you should definitely be able to have more than 2 players in a game. Please fix this.

Highly highly addictive and FUN! BEST WORD APP!. Once I got the hang of it, which took me awhile, this became my most addictive game. I Love the language aspect as well spatial component of trying to capture letters. Love playing it!

Great game. I enjoy the strategy and thought required to be successful at this game. It is not enough to make up words. You have to decide what letters to use against your opponent.

Bots revived it - archaic/multi-lingual dictionary. I’m glad they revived this game with bots, because I really missed it. However, the addition of archaic, questionable, and foreign words is not fun. Examples include: worser and cocas which are words, not in current English though. Then there are gibberish “words” like chatties, splatched and personnels

Two issues. Bot Games are not auto refreshing When you remove a finished game it automatically starts a new game with the same player Please fix these

The most wonderful game❤️. I’ve been playing this since the pandemic & I’m certain it accounts for helping me stay sane. Thank you.

Fun game with great playing action. I've liked this game for a long while, and now that they've added bots to play (so you don't have to wait for people to take their turn) it's moving back into my top playlist.

There is a problem. I played clandestine as my first word. Later on my opponent played clandestineness and it was accepted eve though it begins with clandestine. How does that happen?

Long Words. At last, a word game where knowing all kinds of absurdly obscure three-letter words will be totally pointless. Anything shorter than eight letters is usually a bad play. Big, fun words! Hooray! And there’s a strategic component. Love it.

Just beautiful. This is one of the games you can play for years, and Letterpress is so polished and works great that it just never gets boring.

Strategy plus vocabulary!. The combination of strategy and wordpower makes this game far more interesting than usual word games!

Challenge. Endless fun and challenge. Some of the letter combinations are really tough to make words. Of course the computer has a huge supply of words at its disposal. Or you can play a human opponent, your choice.

Forfeited games???. This is a 5 star game and I love it, but for the last few days my on-going games show up as forfeited. And they show that I made a play only one day ago. What’s up with that? I don’t see any other reviews with this issue. Help please. !

Better than ever!. I love the bots to play games with. It's good practice and faster than waiting for people to take their turns. :D

Excellent Game. This is one of my favorite word games. It’s very well designed, challenging, and user friendly.

Still the best word game imo. I’ve been playing this game since it came out and still get more enjoyment playing it than any other.

Preview Page. This game would be much better if you could see a preview of what the board would look like if you played a certain word.

Fun and Challenging. ——————- Old Review: New Features are a Treat The simplicity of the word checking makes a great game even greater. It makes the game even more fun. Also, I've upped my speed.

Great game. Love it so do my friends Super game one of our games my friend and I have made more than 2000 words we keep going to see how many we can make on this one just for fun

Ads ruin it. Great quick game with options to make play more challenging. I would pay for an ad-free upgrade but it’s not an apparent option. Ads are long and difficult to navigate away from.

Limit some words!. Personally, the problem I have with games like this, and words with friends, is that words like “wrongers” and “zuke” (and many, many more like these) are acceptable. This just allows users to press letters at random and tah-dah some slang word you’ve never heard of works. Wack

Stop the excessive ads!!!. I have played Letterpress for years and enjoy it very much. However, this new development of forcing me to watch an ad after every single move is ridiculous! If it’s going to stay this way, I’ll have to find a new game. Please go back to the way it was before. No need to be greedy!

Recommend. Very fun, auto matches match skill pretty well and there are not very many glitches, and a lot is customizable. Ads do not affect much as they are not every 10 seconds unlike SOME GAMES.

Letterpress. I love word games and this game is unique. I'm amazed at the volume of words I can find. The ads are obnoxious. I'd like an option to pay to play without them.

Not easy. This game is a bit difficult to pick up until the light goes on! I play WWF and have it down, but this is more technique than spelling prowess. My humble opinion lol.

Positive Addiction. I love this game and have been hooked on it from the start. The lexicon is amusingly puzzling at times in what it does and doesn't include but it's always turn-by-turn fun.

Brain fun. I play letterpress against my husband every day. Set date. Great friendly brain challenge.

This Word Game is a Keeper!. Word games come and go. Letterpress, though, is like Boggle + Risk. Challenging rivals, riveting matches, and deceptively simple rules make this an instant classic. I've been playing daily since it was first released. Play me: LetsPlayASpell

Throughtful, fun game for word ♥️ers!!. Three years later I still absolutely adore this game. It’s like scrabble and chess had a baby. It’s simple, yet challenging and just super fun. I love the minimalist, clean lines and layout. Try it!

Letterpress review. I think it’s fun and informative, and I really enjoy it! The bots are fun, though I would rate them for how hard they are in list so we could tell. I mean, I figured it out, but...yeah. All in all it’s a wonderful app and I recommend it.

One of the best Word Games on iOS. I love this game. I am a huge fan of word games, including crosswords, but this game is my goto. New updates are fantastic - just realized there are bots! Excellent for word freaks!

Letterpress. Love this game. Thanks for adding chat! I've played for years and now I can meet my player friends! Thanks for new add of new board without resigning!

Fun game but please improve chat fxn. Lovely game, but the chat crashes way too often. Please fix this xoxo

Keeps getting better and better. Still love playing this game, and the new features

Button to accept words. This is a great game. What would make it better is allowing players to accept words played by their opponents that are not in the letterpress dictionary.

Love the game. I have been playing the game for several years and am totally addicted. My only suggestion would be that words that are legitimate would be in the letterpress dictionary

Love this game. I've been playing it for at least three years now and haven't gotten bored yet.

What happened was a great game. Ever time I try to play, I get a Game Center error bad suggestion to close and restart. Doesn't help. What's wrong? Addendum: Love the upgrades. Works all the time

Ad are dirty. I get that the app needs its advertising. But do the need to be suggestive of sex and cheating? The latest version seems to have new ads focused on other games that lack moral values. That is why I dropped the stars to 3 of 5.

Just need dictionary update. Terrific game, but many words that should be accepted are not. If that were fixed, it would be fabulous.

No response or extremely long response time. Either the bot doesn’t respond or it takes at least 5 minutes or more to respond. That is a lot of wasted time.

Ads!. Have played Letterpress for years snd today it quit working so I reinstalled it…. Now am getting ADS! Very disappointed!

Exceptionally annoying ads. I’ve loved this game for a long time. The new bots are great (though quite challenging). I just wish the ads weren’t so ridiculously invasive.
