Fun and simple. Very simple game that is still challenging

A pretty exciting game!. Don't worry, I have the original Circus Atari through Atari's Greatest Hits app, but this is a really exciting game! Good thing I made 6000+ about a week ago, because they added monkeys to the game! I have to say, one of the sounds is EXACTLY like the one those "creepy 'Wimpanzees'" make in the Tiny Zoo Friends app!

Fun game, but.... Please fix the stuttering music during the load screen. I am getting this on the latest iPad and while it doesn't ruin the game, it lessens the experience. Fix it and I'll give it another star.

If you’re looking for the original Atari 2600 game.... ...it’s available on Atari’s Greatest Hits. As for this game, it’s not a bad idea, but on my iPhone 4 it’s virtually unplayable. Slow loading, unresponsive (tap Play, nothing happens; tilt, nothing happens), bad frame rate, even after a reboot.

Fixes in 1.2 makes it worth a download. Despite being called Circus Atari, it's basically a reskin of the various "jump higher" games out there. It's like if someone took Angry Birds, changed the birds into frogs, and called the game "Frogger". You play as a clown whose goal is to fly up, bounce off balloons and springs, and collect coins. Version 1.2 looks like they're working on fixing things, which is nice to see. Chests and keys now appear in an order that makes sense, the alternate clowns now work properly, and the layout of the sections has been altered greatly so there's a lot more treasure to pick up, making it feel much more rewarding to continue on upward. There's more ways to get coins in general, including a "daily reward" for opening the game at least once every day, and sponsor rewards commonly seen in free iOS games, which seems to replace the full screen ad that was bothering everyone. But it does lead to the game's remaining problem. There still isn't much to actually spend the coins on! Probably we'll be getting this in the next release.

Haven't played it yet.. I haven't played this game yet, because it always crashes 15 seconds after I start it up. I've never gotten past the loading screen.

Lag! Lag! Lag!. Horrible lag! Graphics look great and concept is cool but HORRIBLE lag. Music freezes up and terrible delay on gameplay -- this is with every program closed out and the iPhone 4S restarted! Fix it!

Craptastic. I was hoping for a lot more from Atari. Crashes constantly, yes rebooted after install. Full screen forced ads that easily draws young children away.

Fun to play, hard to master. The tilt control is really fun and the degree of difficulty ratchets up as you get higher

V1.1 not worth the update. I find it very dishonest and misleading not to disclose the update introduces in game ads. it seems the bug that was fixed is that Atari forgot to put the ads the first time around.

Crashes. This app always crashes so I had to delete it. I wish it would have loaded.

To glitchy. Funnish game. Basically like mega jump. I wouldnt get it though cuz it glitches too much.

Slow and unplayable. Loads slowly and the menu is unresponsive. I wish atari test these games with latest iPod, iPad, and iPhones before uploading.

Fix it. Keeps crashing and won't open. Uninstall.

Needs Improvement - Could be a Winner. I like this game. I don't love it. 1. OpenFeint? Yuck. Keeps telling me I have a friend request when I do not in the middle of gameplay. Atari included Game Center support, so this layer is borderline pointless. 2. Can't disable / buy-out of ads. They throw something in your face after EVERY GAME. Not cool. I'm ready to give you my money of you promise to stop annoying me. 3. You have to suffer through simple instructions before EVERY GAME. Dude. I get it already. I'm a fan of the original Circus Atari. Can't say this version is anything more than a Doodle Jump knock-off, but it's got potential (if they fix the aforementioned annoyances).

Sad For Atari. This is not "Circus Atari." This is "Bird Strike Gold" with a different graphical skin, and the ability to buy your way up the leaderboards with real cash. Enjoy production values that recycle the one, assumedly public domain song anyone associates with the circus, and super-generic character and object clipart. It's like a five-dollar budget landed in a Gamesalad factory.

No Splat = No Fun. This game makes you jump through all sorts of "freemium" hoops before you start playing. No, I do not want notifications from "Circus Atari!" The game bears little resemblance to the Atari 2600 version, and when you finally die, the stupid clown doesn't even land on his head and go splat! Uninstall.

Nice game ruined by freemiums. The game itself is fun and unique, but words of warning: 1) don't be misled by the title; this is NOT the same Circus Atari that you played on your Video Computer System. Totally different game with different game play. 2) It's a "freemium" game. Yuck.

Fuzzybear01. This is the worst game ever don't get it if you want to change circus clowns it doesn't work my opinion to you is don't get this game it stinks. The first I played it was fun but then I had it for a awhile and now it's horrible.

Atari reinvents their Circus. In the ever growing library of vintage game reboots. This game is most satisfying primarily because it's free. Sure, it's a Doodle Jump clone, but it's fun. The updates are cool, whether the different clowns enhance the gameplay, I can't tell, but the novelty fun is there. The only fault, besides occasional crashing, is the sound design. First on the clown selection screen, there is too much sound which results in an audio mess. Second, during play all the clowns sound the same while vocalizing umps crashing upward through balloons.

Light fun. Circus Atari is good light fun. Takes only a few minutes to play, so it's a good option for something quick if you have only a few minutes. It's like Atari's version of Doodle Jump.

Crashes. I was so excited for my son to play this game and it crashes before it ever gets started! FIX IT!

Fun Game!. Easy to play and enjoyable family fun.

Good concept but.... The actual Atari 2600 game "Circus Atari" would have been a great iPad app but this is not that game. Also, the lack of control in this game is such a large problem that it's complete failure on what it is trying to be.

Good for a play or two.. An okay game that suffers from very loose controls. There's not much depth to the game either. It is the same thing every play and no upgrades are available at the moment. Like some of the other Atari games, this one pushes the IAP a little too much.

Hate ragging a on a free game, but.... Don't call it "Circus Atari" when it isn't "Circus Atari". When I first saw the title, I was super excited. The original Atari 2600 game, which required a paddle controller, would adapt perfectly to touch mechanics. For those unfamiliar with the original, you controlled a see-saw, moving it back and forth as two acrobats jumped as high as they could to pop rows of balloons floating overhead. Your job was to make sure the falling acrobat landed on the empty end of the see-saw, which would catapult the other acrobat into the air. Not only was it an original idea back then, but I miraculously haven't even seen anyone rip off the idea. But instead of updating the classic, the lazy programers create yet another Doodle Jump clone that has absolutely nothing special about it. Lame.

Super annoying.. Would be fun if they didn't try to get you to buy every 3 seconds. You can't let your small kids play the game due to all the spammy ads they throw in your face. Deleted.

Boooo. When I saw this title come up I downloaded it on the spot without even looking at the screenshots... I figured even if they revamped the original they'd include an alternate "classic play" option or something. How much space could that take up as part of a larger app, anyway? This is nothing like the original. It's a rehash of a zillion other new iPhone games. Circus Atari WAS an original. Why do companies have SUCH a disconnected view of what their fans want??

Unplayable on iPod Touch.... This game will not run on an iPod Touch (4G). It crashes right after the opening splash screen. Seems to be a communication error with OpenFeint. It DOES load, and play on iPhone 4S. BUT, I'm not all that fond of the game anyway. How many of these "freemium" pay to play games must we deal with in the app market? I'm hoping a great (& moral) developer realizes the market potential here. Paying for a game, with no added expenses, should be the standard -- not the exception. Apple (iTunes) and all these greedy developers will regret this trend one day. Maybe it's time for a customer boycott?? ...enough of this FREE, but very expensive garbage, eh?

Really horrible. Takes forever to load, terrible lag, and horrible controls. It's almost impossible to steer your clown after you've hit him a half a dozen times to take off. Once they get these issues fixed it could be a fun game (only reason it gets 2 stars instead of only one)

Has potential!. It has audio problems and the loading is too slow. if they add online multiplayer like Doodle Jump this game could be in the top 25.

New and improved.....Now with in game ads!!!!. This game has sunk to a new all-time low. As if the pay to win in-app purchases and slow glitchy game play weren't bad enough, the latest update adds in-game ads. Don't waste your time. Move along there is nothing to see here!

Eh.... I don't normally complain about free apps, but I downloaded this one to see if it would be fun for my kids. I tried it out for a day on my iPad2 and it worked wonderfully. BUT once I loaded it on our kids' iPod Touch 4th generation and iPod Touch 3rd generation, it would kick them out before it finished loading. The app is useless at this point because it was for them and if they can't play it then there isn't much sense in having it. One the glitch is fixed I'd love to reload it on their iPods.

Addictive game, great for kids. Its a really fun and addictive game that I can also lets my kids play. It keeps that entertained for hours!

COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER!. For those of us old school Atari fans who love the classics this is nothing like the old version we all loved and missed. This could be a good game but the mechanics are just too slow and the lag a killer. I'm really hoping for some updates because it could be good but it just needs more than a bunch of balloons. I'll be watching this one and hoping for more. Not too happy with the update. It still has poor controls and what is with the ads all of a sudden? COME ON!

Hmmm would be good but in. Desperate need of an upgrade as very laggy. Not smooth gameplay at all. Shame actually. Also have to press play bout 4-5 times just to get it work and b4 u know it the games started. Pls update and I'll change my rating, have iPhone 4 with latest software.

Meh. This is a remake not the Atari 2600 classic. This is just another endless runner from what I can tell. They should have just brought Circus back. I wouldn't suggest this game the audio is annoying and there is nothing that hasn't been done a million times by other devs.

Doesn't work. Unfortunately after the recent update the game still won't even load up on my iPad 1 with iOS 5.1, even after a device reboot. It gets to the Open Feint screen and crashes. Hopefully the devs fix this in a future update.

Needs Work. The game runs fine enough, but there needs to be some more in-game info about all the objects and especially the safety nets. No matter what I do I can't seem to deploy them. I can't tell if it's a glitch or if I'm just doing it wrong, but it's frustrating to keep losing when I have available safety nets. Also noticed that I lost my most recent coin winnings when I exited and returned to the game later.

Not your fathers Circus Atari (or your mothers). Being a HUGE Circus Atari fan on the 2600 I was so excited to hear about this game coming. However, I set my expectations low and knew without a paddle there's no way Circus Atari would ever play right. So Atari took a different approach and based the game on the Doodle Jump style "how high can you get" type of game. Not very creative but in this case it works. Sort of. Basically you bounce, bounce and bounce higher and higher collecting coins as you go. That's about it. They added a safety net feature which allows you to save yourself in case you fall and miss a balloon. Now this is where it goes sour. They start you off with 5 nets. Nice! Well not really, because that's all you get. If you want more you have to cash in the coins you collect and buy more nets at the in-game store which can take a long time to do. Or you can purchase coins via an in app purchase and with those coins buy more nets. I don't mind so much the store concept but really Atari at least give us 1 net as default each game. I hate playing 10 times just to maybe be able to buy 1 net. Also alternate controls would be nice. You play tilting the device. You can't change it to buttons or anything else. I actually found it easier to play my iPad upside down for some reason. Another in game store purchase you can make is for different clowns. Male and female are free. The others you must use your coins to buy. Is there any advantage to purchase other characters? It doesn't say. I would think it would be an upgrade as the new characters are expensive, like you can jump higher, fall slower, etc… but something tells me it's just an aesthetic change. More add-ons are to come as of this review the game just shows question marks for future upgrades. We'll see! The game is free, and it's fun, but way too similar to what's out there already. Could be better.

Disappointment in update.. So, the update says that it fixed the bug, WRONG very MAD...

Bad. Not worth the time to download - old idea, poorly implemented to try and get you to play more with IAP's.
