Wooly for Ravelry Comments & Reviews 2024

Had promise, but failed. A total waste of money and time! Do not get this app if you have a large stash. I've had this app for probably a year now. When I first got it I loved it...but as updates were implemented and my stash grew larger, it hardly functions. If it does open my stash, it doesn't open all the stash, but opens only 2/3 of the stash. Upon trying to open the rest, it crashes. I can't load pics for any yarn after that. It crashes all the time regardless of what i try to do with it. I've patiently waited for updates since their successful kickstarter campaign, but haven't seen any improvements.

Good App, Has potential!. I'm so happy to have found an app that syncs with my Ravelry account!! I've been using KnitMinder for a couple years now, and while I like it, I hated having to enter my projects in two different places. This app solves that problem nicely! That said, the app has crashed on me a number of times, which is why it only gets 3 stars from me at this time. I'd like to see that fixed, and then there are a couple things I'd love to see added: 1) Row/repeat counters. KnitMinder has the ability to add multiple row and/or repeat counters for each project. Would be cool to incorporate that feature into this app; not sure if it's possible with Ravelry's APIs, but it's the only thing I'm keeping KnitMinder around for at this point. 2) Ability to see more details of the yarn, needles and patterns being used - either in your own projects lists or that of a friend's. Currently you can't get any more info unless you go to the Ravelry home page. 3) Ability to add new items to your yarn stash or needle inventory from the app. Currently you can edit existing items, but would be great to be able to add new ones too! 4) Ability to edit your "queue" list - or at least delete items you'd like to remove. Again, I'm excited about this app, and hoping it continues to improve!

OK and getting better. I was asked whether I love Wooly and was given two choices for an answer - no or yes. There needs to be a third choice - at least. I love the idea, I use it to upload photos, the execution is improving, the search function works better (but I still can't select a project after finding in search (maybe others can)). It's getting there an improvements over the last several weeks are noticeable. It is getting better, but needs a bit more improvement before I can really say I love it.

Disappointed. I bought this app which I considered to be pricey a few years ago to upload pictures on my Ravelry account. There have been updates, but the new features added are limited and the existing problems are not fixed. When I pull up a project it says "needles used" or "yarn used"....which ones? Why has the camera never been updated? I see now there is a premium package for an annual fee, which really offers no worthy purpose other than to upgrade the one thing I bought this for in the first place. What I have been hoping for all along was ease of access to my projects and queue, better pattern searching abilities and an upgraded camera. I believe it's heading in the right direction, however the fact that an annual fee is charged for something I already paid for, for features that should already be offered, is disappointing. I will continue to use this app for pictures and keep the Ravelry website pulled up on my browser for everything else. This app at this price, should offer more value.

Old features now locked behind a subscription. I went ahead with the Facebook login to see the changes in this update, and boy was I disappointed. They made the decision to take away the in-app photo editing and place that behind the subscription as well. Instead of being brought directly to the dash, you're now brought to the Discovery page of new patterns, a redundancy of Featured Patterns. The first one you can see for free, after that, you need to a premium account. But you can share them on Facebook! /sarcasm It is not worth $9.99 a year to see patterns that are on other websites like a knock off Pinterest. Or to upload photos from the app when I can already do it directly through the Rav site or through the #ravelry hashtag on Instagram.

A suggestion. This is a great app, and is great in that it allows me to quickly access my stash and needles. I have a suggestion though. There isn't any option to view the patterns of projects that are in progress! I can view the pattern if I save it to my queue, and then click on it from there, but not by clicking on the project within the project tab. It would be great to be able to access the pattern within the project tab because I have to scroll down a long list of projects in my queue just to see the pattern.

Performs as described!. Wooly provides a convenient one-way interface to view projects, friends, stash, etc. that you have in your ravelry library. I use it on my iPad. The wooly graphics are not very good at 2x (but look great at 1x); the uploaded pictures typically look great at 2x. The interface is very intuitive. The download speed was excellent on both networks that I used. It doesn't work at all without a connection to Ravelry (as you would expect) which greatly limits my use of the app since my LYS doesn't have wireless - but the places my knitting group meets does have wireless. I really liked the friend interface -- it encouraged me to look at my friends' projects, which I rarely do. Seeing a friend's ravatar made me want to click on it and there were her projects! I am normally very cheap about buying apps, but supporting the knitting app community is important to me. I hope to see improvements soon to allow 2-way ravelry interaction.

Too expensive for such few features. App allows you to: View your existing projects and change some features of them, like progress, add photos, notes, etc. You cannot however create new projects or even finish one (I can mark it as 100% and even add a completion date, but that doesn't mark it as finished) View your queue (but not start a project based on a queued pattern) View your stash (but not update it) View your needles (but not add or remove any) View your friends. $2.99? For basically a way to browse your already finished or in progress projects, with no actual pattern detail? That's a joke. I wish I haden't taken the risk. I wanted something with a mobile interface to Ravelry, since it has no mobile web site version, but should have dealt with using it in the browser with a lot of zooming. If this app was free it would at least encourage people to download it and provide good feedback on changes, as opposed to getting annoyed at the lack of features and just leaving bad reviews. Now, since the devs asked for constructive criticism and suggestions, here we go: Provide access to ravelry pattern search! Allow access to patterns in general, even the ones in the queue don't show the pattern. Allow access to patterns in *library*, not just queue. Allow creation of projects, based on pattern in library or queue or just free-form.

Wooly is great. I love this app. It’s my go to when I want to see beautiful work. It functions great and there is plenty of eye candy to give me new ideas and keep me motivated to try new projects.

Not for crochet folks. Great if you knit, but still difficult to get around all the areas of Ravelry. I crochet and don't knit, but appreciate how pretty and well laid out the app is. Just for a certain segment of the yarn folk.

Another winner!. I just updated to version 1.4 and decided I'd start fresh instead of adding to an already-too-long missive. The thing I like best about Wooly is the developers' attitudes. This app was good the day it was first released. Now it includes the features actual users asked for. My stash is now sorted by family. It could be sorted by weight or brand just as easily - a simple choice. I'm not at a point to upload a picture for any of my projects today but when I am it will be easy. Right in the app, either before or after I edit my notes, I can take a picture, balance the colors, include arrows, text, funny stickers (or arrows) and upload to Ravelry. Now, with this update that picture will be the first in line and show up when my friends browse my projects.

The "improved" version is worse than before. My phone just updated to the latest version and to say that I am disappointed does not even begin to cover it. Sure, I can order projects more efficiently and do some editing of them, but one of the big features before was the ability to easily edit and upload a photo, without worrying about it being upside down when it shows up on ravelry. For some unknown reason, they have completely removed that part of the app (or at least made it hidden), which basically makes the app now useless to me. Also, they need some major editing. The number of spelling errors (including the "dashborad" is appalling and speaks poorly of their overall quality control.

Awesome now, can't wait to see what's next!. I currently own nearly every iPhone knitting app available since I check every month or so for the new knitting app that will change my life. I use exactly none of these knitting apps since I am always mad at the data entry required for info I already put on Ravelry! Today was the day I see my wish has come true! Finally an app that can pull my Ravelry data! I don't want to sit on my phone and key in all the details, I just want to either show off a project on the fly, or check my stash on the go. This does it. I would love to be able to do the following with this app in the future: upload pictures of my WIP/new stash yarn, add new Ravelry contacts, view forums and search for patterns. Also, I'd like to view my library to avoid buying books I already have. (I'm dumb and have gotten excited and done this...)

Nice, could do with a little improvement. I like this app for the photo editor. It makes posting quick photos really easy. The needle list is also good to have at the store. As another user mentioned, I wish it would show yardage in the stash list. The number of skeins isn't enough and I have to go to Ravelry in my browser which defeats the purpose of the app. Unfortunately the app quits sometimes and has lost photos I was posting. I wrote the developer but there have been no updates and the app is still crashing periodically.

Not very helpful. There's really not much you can do with this app. The main thing I would like to be able to do with it is add to my stash. You can't do that. You can only edit existing yarn in your stash, not add anything additional. Not only that, but my stash is not updating properly. Yarn I added yesterday online is not showing up on my app, even though it does show up online. I was hoping to be able to add a photo of the yarn in my stash but I can't even do that since it's not updating properly. About the only thing I can see that it is really good for is to have access without going online, but that doesn't help much if it's not updating properly.

Get it!. As this is a new app, with much planned. I went ahead and gave 5 stars solely on the basis that what it does do, it does well, and the authors are activelye adding more and more features. It does not crash, the app is clean in format, intuitive, and does just what it says - allows you to view most of your notebook in a nice, clean, mobile format as well as (now) allowing stash and project page photo updates (including options to balance the picture, add text to it, crop, re-orient, stickers and more). The designers have a list of things to add, and are putting out updates quickly - this app will only get better (they are also active in their Ravlery group - so you can find out what's coming and what's 'on the list').. I bought it, told others, and bought again for my daughter. I can not wait to see what all it can do in 6 months, but happy with the abilities it has now. If you're on Ravelry and use your notebook for your projects/stash, etc - Get it :)

Just use the Ravelry site. After loving Wooly 1.0, and supporting a huge Kickstarter effort to fund the 2.0 development, then waiting nearly a year after it was supposed to be delivered, this app was the biggest disappointment in the iOS realm. Nothing worked and it was terrible. Now, after 2 years, I've returned to the app to see if it has finally at least been brought back to the previous versions functionality and sadly it has not. What this most recent update touts as fixed isn't and the very best thing anyone can say for this app AFTER 2 YEARS is that, "it's pretty...". In the meantime, Casey at Ravelry has provided excellent mobile support. So, just use the website...

The best is yet to come - but it's building on something gret to start with. I love these guys. :) They keep adding awesomeness to Wooly. The developers are always working on it, and feedback via the Ravelry forums is darn quick. I can't wait to see what they come up with next! As for the program itself - ADORE having my stash and projects in my pocket. Ever since the first basic version of this app it's been golden. :)

My go-to mobile app for Ravelry. I love Wooly. I mainly use it for adding and updating my stash. Yes, there might not be every single feature that’s on Ravelry, but you can easily get to the webpage in Ravelry from within Wooly, plus it’s easier than the full browser Ravelry on my phone. Image editing is only available from the paid version, and that’s about right to me. It’s only $9.99 a year, people, which for the convenience, is so reasonable. I like to support the developer(s) who created it. I am a Web developer, myself, and I know the work that goes into programming. Way to go, Wooly people!

Patterns, patterns and more patterns. I have found lots of cute projects here. Just so much fun to explore.

Can’t login anymore. I don’t knit a super lot, but liked having the app to access Ravelry when I was out and about. But now I just can’t login anymore. I do have a new iPhone 11 with all the latest updates. So I’m wondering if Wooly has kept up with the iOS updates???

Ravelry has become my yarn addiction enabler. This app is going to be hazardous to my wallet. I can't tell you how many times I've walked into my LYS for no good reason, found yarn I cannot live without and surreptitiously pulled out my phone to find a Ravelry pattern in my queue I could justify buying the yarn for. This app just cuts down on the load time. Can't wait to see how it gets developed further! If I can use Wooly to eventually search for patterns like in the website I'm going to be at the yarn shop a LOT more!

Crashes. I have an iPhone 6 plus running iOS 8.1.3 and after installing the update the app constantly crashed while trying to just open it. I deleted, restarted and reinstalled and then I could at least open the app. But now the app continually crashes and closes whenever I attempt to just view my stash. I can enter a new stash okay but then I can never view it. I had really hoped this version would at least make the app iPhone 6+ compatible and resolve the previous photo upload issues. Back to the mobile Ravelry site via Safari.

Wooly. Very unhappy with this app. It crashes every single time I try to search. Please fix this. I should've spent that $3.99 on yarn instead. Update on my previous review: my contact with wooly support fixed the crash problem and also helped me with uploading pictures on my iPhone. I wish I would have contacted them before I wrote my previous review. It is a fun and helpful app! Another review update: I love Wooly 3.3. Very user friendly! Excellent customer service for questions—very good response time.

Finally! A Ravelry app for me! :). I have long been waiting for this and bought the moment I was notified of its availability. It is great. Easy to use, and nice to look at, it is perfect at what it does - which is allow you to view your Rav project page, your stash, your queue, and your friends projects. However, it is only for viewing your Rav stuff, and not for any inputting or changing. Also, there is no access to the project database, the yarn database, or the forums - three very good things about Rav that I don't like to live without. I knew this when purchasing, but still wish... :) This is the reason that I give four stars. Otherwise, an excellent app and worth the price if you are looking for a way to view your Rav info. Well done, Wooly people!

Great App with Fantastic Customer Service!. I was using this app this weekend, finally able to easily and seamlessly add beautiful pictures to my Ravelry page. My projects and stash now have lovely photos attached to each. It was all so easy to do. And best of all the app was Free!! I sent a question/comment to the powers that be at the app. I only expected to maybe get a note saying they received it and thanks. But no, I got a response from the developer today, in less than 24 hours. I really like that I can have this app on my iPhone and use the stash section while in my LYS. No more buying and re-buying the same items, forgetting that I already own that particular color. Great App!! Give this one a try!

A great start. . .. and it's just going to get better from here. I'm another of the Ravelry fiends who have been stalking this app since it was announced. Wooly has pretty limited functionality at this point, but a) the developers have made clear that there's a lot more to come, b) they're super receptive to user feedback and guidance, and c) this app is already quite elegant and well-thought-out. I am so excited to have my projects and queue available offine. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Removed features-why??. One of the main features I used on Wooly before the update was to see which needles I have without searching through drawers and jars of needles. Why would they take this feature away?? I haven't been able to use/try any other features yet because the app crashes every time I try to do anything. This happened with the old version when I tried to edit a pic, but now it happens all the time! And I don't even know what to say about the typo. I mean, REALLY??!! Lazy! Please please fix this or put it back to the old version. It's useless to me now.

Won't even let me login.. What is this whole Facebook nonsense. I go through the time consuming process of activating some Facebook link via my email so that i can log into the app. But .... It only circles back to the same process over and over. "oh you want to log in? Let us send you an email link to link you to face book. Go to your email, open page in Safari, link your email to Facebook, go back to Wooly app, attempt to login, attempt to find the right place to login because you are still on the same screen telling you to enter your email so that you can activate Facebook, waste some more time ....REPEAT the time wasting!!!!

Good, but needs more features. Would like more features like to be able to search more specifically or for free patterns.

Excellent for managing projects. This is one of the most useful apps on my phone. Wooly allows me to create new projects, update them, and add photos - all on the fly from my phone. I love that I can take a few photos of WIPs or FOs and upload them right away. I, too, am confused by the negative reviews. The app is stable, easy to use, and does exactly what the description says. This is a well-designed tool to manage projets and it works great. I'm also really enjoying the ability to edit my photos before uploading them to Ravelry - the effects are fun and I love that I can crop images.

Mediocre. The app is pretty, but the functionality isn’t as robust as I would like. 1. You can upload photos, but if you want to edit them, you need the pay version. 2. You can’t get more information on the patterns in the Discovery tab without paying, either. 3. The pattern search has been advertising that filters are “Coming soon!” since I downloaded the app... and they still haven’t come. That means that, since I don’t knit, I can’t make 75% of what the pattern search tab shows me. Verdict: I’m unimpressed.

Quit promising and deliver. For a long time this app functioned well for me. Especially since I primarily used it for uploading iPhone photos of my projects and stash. November 2014 an update removed that functionality and provided nothing of substance other than an updated GUI. Now following resounding denouncements, we get an update that promises to fix what was ruined by the November update and what do we get? Random crashes. My project listing also includes those of my friends, more maddening misspellings (come on, guys!). No photo upload (don't believe the planted reviews here -- there is no photo upload!) and more lies about functionality in the sales description. I honestly don't know what was updated in this version because it is the same as the November "update". I'll reiterate what has been stated by so many. Please bring back the original, un-updated app!

Update the update, pronto!. Agree with the other reviewers: I used to love (and recommend) this app because I could quickly look at my Ravelry stash, queue, etc. when I was out and about. I paid for it mainly because of the photo-upload feature, which has now completely disappeared! Why?? Also, I can now see only a small percentage of my stash: the stuff that starts with “A” or “B”! I can only hope another update is coming soon, because this one wasn’t ready to be released and renders the app pretty useless.

Very useful. This app is worth the money just for the new photo feature. It allows you to take a picture, edit and then gets uploaded to your ravelry project or stash page. The developers are very responsive to the users and each update will get better and better. Don't just buy this app for what it does, buy it for the potential too.

Helps me make good use of my time. I can plan projects while on the go, allowing me to jump right in when I’m ready to sit down and start. Still waiting for better search filters, so 4 stars for now.

Why wooly, WHY?. Like everyone else, would use wooly to upload pictures to Rav. Projects. My mac is so old and slow, it's so much easier to do on the iPhone. The best thing about this new update is the mammoth in the app's icon. And that's about it. Unsure why on earth they'd consider fb sign in AND you have to have a subscription to do the most basic of tasks. I get the idea that it would be easier to share projects and stuff on fb, but, I don't see Ravelers doing that unless they have a shop. So, basically, I get to remove this from my phone and I can use the new space for something better, like pictures of my awesome stuff...

Just not functional enough.... I bought this, thinking I could edit projects while on the go. While some editing functionality exists, you cannot add new projects. Worse, when I added the new project via Safari I couldn't see the new project in Wooly. A similar problem exists with the queue. You can't search patterns. If you do the search in Safari and add something to your queue, it doesn't show up in Wooly. The product has great potential but just isn't ready for prime time. This is the first time I've got to say that the Droid world is farther ahead in developing Ravelry apps.

Worth it!. I just got an iPhone and debated whether or not to go with Wooly since I have a generous data plan. The photo feature is what made me decide to go for it, and I am THRILLED! It's just so easy! Snap a picture and it zooms right into ravelry for you! Well worth the price right there. But additionally, it is also a lot easier to look through my queue and my projects than going to ravelry to do it. You know, that tiny screen, and all. So if you are wondering whether or not to buy Wooly, my advice is to go for it. It is great right now, and only going to get better!

Great app! Could use some other features.... Overall, I am very happy with this app. I love that you can take pictures and add them to ravelry projects, plus update how far you are and project notes. However, the queue could use some work... For instance, being able to start a project from the app would be great, and being able to see or download a pattern would be a big help. Also, there are some notes I know are on the project page which don't show up. Some of these are important, like different project sizes. A tiny bug fix would be to be able to classify a project as "done" instead of just "100% complete" because it would move the project out of the WIP area.

Incredibly Disappointed. I've been eagerly anticipating this app for months, and am super disappointed to find it nothing like what was advertised. $2.99 for read-only access to those components of the Ravelry Notebook that are only useful because of their interactivity? That feels like a rip-off and worse -- a breach of trust. Comments from the developers on Twitter indicate that there's "more to come". If the ultimate goal is to have an interactive app with the ability to upload a photo, add a yarn to one's stash, access and add to one's library on the go, or queue up/cast on from an LYS -- it would have been far better to actually build those features in advance of launching. If you're looking for an app that provides a useful gateway to Ravelry from a mobile device, you won't find it in version Wooly 1.0.

Love this app!. I love being able to access my projects and find patterns easily.

Wooly - An awesome WIP. Wooly has become my favorite way to use ravelry when I just don't feel like using my computer. While Wooly is still in the early phases and has limited functions, I know that the creators are working hard to on version updates that will transform this simple app into an exceptional app. This app is so simple to use and works so well. I can't wait to see how much better it can get in future versions!

Very handy, glad to have it. I wanted an easy way to upload photos of my yarn for my online stash, and this app did just that. It even has some photo editing functions, which is nice. It's exactly what I wanted and I can see how I will be using it frequently for it's other functions too. It would be nice to be able to add new yarns or projects, but it's still very useful without that function. It's great to have a quickly-accessible reference when you're out and about, and they ease of uploading stash photos alone is worth every penny to me (even if it was only 99 of them...).

I'm in love!. I always have two items in my possession: my knitting and my phone. The Wooly app has brought the two together! I've had an account on Ravelry for four years but have never entered my projects online. I like it, but when I'm at my computer I never think about knitting. I've been waiting for a Ravelry companion, and after reading Ravelry's blog update recommending Wooly I'm convinced they are here to stay! My only regret is wishing I had it years ago so I could see all my projects from my phone. Love, love, love this app!

What the &!$%! happened to this app?. Don’t believe the raving, positive reviews you see here. None of it is true. I updated this app in November 2014, and a few weeks later, found myself in my LYS, checked this app to check what was in my needle stash (so I don’t buy things needlessly), and it was no longer accessible. So I was back to old days of hoping that I had the correct needles because I don’t want to buy something I don’t need. Later, when checking to see if I had just missed that feature, I found that NOPE, it was the app. And camera feature? What camera feature? Upload photos? You’re kidding. Also, I no longer have the ability to view what type and amount of yarn, needles, etc. are needed for a particular item in my queue. And, there are some weird typos in there. “Send us AND email?” Also, “New Project and “New Stash” still flash the message “Coming Soon”. Yes, I’m running the most updated version for iPhone. Yes, all these features were available before the crazy November 2014 “update". Did the developers sell this app to some big Yahoo!-type company whose main goal is to take what was a wonderfully-developed app and turn it into garbage??!! Can we "upgrade" to the old version? It was far more useful.

Not useful. From reading some of the good reviews, I thought the app would be more useful than it is. I thought I would at least be able to read patterns in my queue. Instead I can just see a list of items in my queue and a handful of details about it, but not the actual important details. The library is not present at all, so I guess I'll continue to put my pattern PDFs on my phone to look at while I'm crocheting. As others have said, this app really needs to incorporate pattern searching. For some reason the hook/needle area is very prominent and yet you can't add any to your list. I like that I can add pictures straight from my phone camera, but I don't like that I can't seem at edit the yarn in a project. Having the friends area prominent is a nice idea, but I'd much rather be able to search or see my library, or any other aspects of my account or the site. I was hopeful that this app would give me an easier window to the site to use, but it turns out everything I want to do, I can't seem to do on the app. Sad that I wasted the money even after reading the bad reviews. I hope they add more features soon.

Already love it - looking forward to updates!. This app is a great little tool already, and I understand the developers are working on further capabilities. I love having the ability to see my projects and queue from my phone - no wifi at the yarn shop? No problem! The look is very nice. The project/queue photos look great. Right now it is read-only, which for me is fine, but being able to update from the app would be fabulous. Hope that is coming.

Smooth interface with room for expansion.. I have waited SO long for an easy way to access my Ravelry account on the go. While Wooly gives a limited amount of access & ability edit, I will say this: what it does, it does well. Just from the way they designed the app, it's clear they plan on increasing capabilities. Also, the top reason for wanting a Ravelry app was having access to pattern requirements on me at all times. If you are actively working a project, or have added it to your queue, you have access to pattern requirements. I do hope they will build in more accessibility, and am more than happy to pay the small fee of $2.99 if it means they will continue developing!

About Time Someone Got There!. An app that works hand in hand with the amazing knitting & crocheting site Ravelry has been needed for a long time now, and Wooly is proving to be definitely worth the wait to get. Quickly access your Ravelry account, update projects, as well as making it easy to 'fancy up' photos of projects as you go. This is an excellent app and I've already started harrassing all my knitting friends with smart phones to hurry up and purchase it. Wooly is quickly becoming just as important to keep in my Grab & Knit kit as spare stitch markers and a good darning needle. I never leave home without my Iphone and my knitting, so this is a perfect marriage of the two.

Very excited for the new features to come. Really looking forward to being able to search patterns. In the meantime, you might want to fix the spelling of Dashboard. ;)

Disappointed. Thought I could actually access the patterns :(

Love this app for on the go ravelry yarny goodness!. Love it!

Disappointed. Wish I read the review. Disappointed to be unable to access patterns. That was the only point of download to have access to all things in my notebook!! Do not recommend this app.

Awesome. Love being able to access the rav basics. Love the photo feature that lets you upload photos straight to ravelry.

This app does less than free apps. Can look at a list of your projects, queues and stashes, can look at pictures, that's about it. Only half the info revelry lets you upload exists in app. Can't actually view your patterns, and can't upload much other than pictures. Pretty much useless for anything other that browsing, which you can do on an actual browser.

Facebook - srsly. Why is it that I can only login through Facebook!! Not everyone wants to give up all privacy. Most apps at least give an option. Can't believe I paid for this!!

Crashing. Have just bought app and was able to sign in but now app is crashing every single time I open it. Can't get past the login screen.

No longer works on iPhone 7. Amending my review. Loved this app. But doesn't even open anymore. How about some product support and updates and fixes? It's now a sad icon on my phone that does nothing.

Waste of money. Why didn't I read the reviews before I paid $2.99 for this. It's pointless? I can't search for patterns and I can't see things I've favourited. I hope there is a major update.

Disappointed. Very disappointed that I cannot access my patterns or browse the ravelry library. This is what I was hoping for in an app of this type and price.

Ravelry on the go. Brilliant for uploading snaps from your phone directly to your ravelry account and showing off your work when you're out.

A Ravelry User Must Have. This app has made accessing my Ravelry projects and queue easy. I can alter project details, check out my queue and research what I need to buy or alternatively check out what I have in stash already. It has the function to view your needle stash and also check out what your Ravelry friends are making and have made. I do all of this using this app on an iPod Touch. Imagine how awesome it'd be on an iPhone or an iPad? If you craft, and you use Ravelry at all you'd be foolish to pass by this app. Go on, do yourself a favour ;-)

Log in with Facebook? Seriously?. Strangely I thought this app was meant to connect me to Ravelry. Yet I can't get past the home screen without connecting to Facebook. Dear developers...wrong social network!!

Still the best. I've been using this since the early days and have loved watching it develop. Keep up the good work!

Poor app. Since the update unable to add pics to stash....was an excellent app before the update.,,,,and being a paid app it is very disappointing, this was the app I used to add pics to all my Ravely stash and projects without the upload feature its a useless app

Ugh. Wish I read these reviews before paying for and downloading this app! You're better off using the browser for ravelry. I was hoping I could access my favorite patterns from this app and search on this instead of the browser. Very disappointed!!!!!

WORST APP. This app sucks. It crashes all the time, and I paid money for it. I emailed the company asking for my money back, and nobody ever got back to me. Don't waste your money.

Read only app. 3$ for a read only app is a shame

New doesn't mean better.. Just loaded up the update. The App will load to the first page but will not load my projects. If I try to move to another page like my stash it crashes. Finally started working a day later. No longer has the camera options. Not sure why. That was one of it's best features.

Useless and uses a Facebook service to log in. Was happy there was finally an upgrade as I had uninstalled this app a long time ago. Uses something called Account Kit to sign in which is a Facebook app. Apparently my FB info isn’t shared (and wouldn’t be since I used a different email address) so I gave it a shot. After confirming my email address was told I was logged in and directed back to the app which stayed on the same confirm email screen. Closed the app. Opened again. Same issue. Useless. App developers should know that more and more people don’t want to use anything related to Facebook and now with the data privacy issues this is more of a concern to those who are more careful with their info. I’m uninstalling this, again.

Really coming along!. I had this app a while ago and wasn't using it. Now with a new phone and some people talking about ravelry apps, I tried it again and it's better! It would be nice to have a quick view of needles though! Be a great feature to have on the go with the ability to look at your stash and have the additional yarn information that's not always clear on labels (weight) is great!

Not very useful. Use a browser instead of buying this app. It's only good for displaying content you've added to the Ravelry site. You can't add project notes, a new project, or read your digital pattern. If you take a lot of pictures you might like that feature, though it's longer to add them than if you just use your browser. Wanted to love it, but it doesn't have value for money.

Knitters little helpers...wooly. I did not see anywhere this app was connected with Facebook. I never use anything to do with Facebook. I bought this a few hours ago and have deleted it. I’m very disappointed that facebooks connection wasn’t made clearer

Very disappointing. This review is done after my first use of the app, so it may change after more uses. I'm very disappointed by this app. I purchased it because I taught the new version would fix the bugs and the complaints mentioned in the other comments. But not really. First, we cannot add more than one picture at a time, which is annoying. Also, we cannot see or modified the information about the needles and yarns used in the projects, which is a problem for me. Secondly, we cannot see where the yarn in your stash is stocked. But, it is easier to see the information than when using the browser, so that's a positive point. I'll be using the app more in the next day to see if I can find more positive points.

Please keep working. I look forward to the add-ons they are aiming for. But until adding pictures to my stash is back, I am a very sad wooly user. Also is anyone else having the problem where only a fraction of your stash is showing up? If the yarn name doesn't start with A or B, I can't find it in wooly!!

Organized amazing. I love how easy it is to use Wooly, and how pictures instantly link to my Ravelry account! I've never before been so organized with my projects, and so active on Ravelry since using Wooly. Thanks, Wooly!

Email login doesn't work. I had Wooly before on an old phone and liked it. The new version requires using more than just a ravelry login. I don't want to use my Facebook, and the emailed login didn't work so I deleted it.

Needs More. I like to look at other projects done with the same pattern when I use Ravelry. I also store a lot in my Ravelry library and this app doesn’t seem to allow access to either of those important functions.

Impressive update. This app was useful before and it keeps improving. Now possible to see and do more in a more intuitive way.

Feb 4/15 update only slightly improves app. Still gone is the fantastic photo editor that allowed you to rotate, crop, add text etc before uploading to ravelry through the app. This update seemingly only makes photo uploading a little easier at best. App is still a pale comparison to what it was before they broke it.

Facebook only. App crashes on start up for last 4 months+. No word from developer. Facebook only login locks out the majority of Ravelry users. This is a terrible choice.

Great App!!. Wooly does everything the creators say it does. I love the camera -- snap! and your pic goes right into your projects page.

Amazing Potential. I'm giving this five stars for the potential. So far it does just what it claims to do, allows you to view your notebook, add pictures (awesome), and edit your projects There are still quirks that need to be worked out, but the developers are really accessible and help you with any problems. They're always looking for feedback and developing new features. It's still in its infancy, but I think it will be a very valuable app for Rav users.

Meh.. I'm a bit disappointed by this app. There's no search function for the pattern library, you can't look at any pattern you have in your projects.. I'm feeling like I wasted $2.99. I really hope the developers add on more usability to the app.

Crashing with iPhone 5C. I just bought the app for my iPhone 5C and the app will only open for one brief moment and then crash. The screen briefly reads “No internet connect” and then glitches out. Very disappointing.

Update Ruined Excellent App - Pls Fix :(. This used to be a great app, much of the useful functionality is now gone. You can't take photos of your projects, you can't even see what needle size you used, it just says, 'one needle used.' Very sad. Developers claim to have a better version for iPad, but I can use Rav just fine on my iPad using a browser; what I really need is an easier way to navigate Ravelry for my iPhone - which this app used to be. The call is out for a new app compatible with Ravelry, as this one is so sadly defunct.

What happened???. I was excited to see the new version of this app, and the iPad version too!! What a disappointment!! I can't upload pictures with my phone anymore, which was the main reason why I bought this app !! I also can't see my needles stash, which is also really annoying. Yes, it's pretty, but NOT functional!!

Deleted. I enjoyed using Wooly for accessing my Ravelry projects, but have deleted the app now that it forces a Facebook login.

Simple & Efficient. Simplifies uploading pictures (love the built-in editor!) and I love being able to update my project notes while on the go. I'd like to see a bit more ability to edit project details, but I'm sure that will come in time - the developers are doing a GREAT job of adding functions as Ravelry makes them available. I've been using this app for several months now, and am impressed by how quickly any glitches/bugs are fixed. Well worth the $ if you're a mobile Ravelry-based knitter!

Bait and switch. So I’ve had woolly for a while, paid for the app. Now I see you have to pay again for features that were once free. Total bait and switch, and even though I paid for it it’s now worthless. I’m deleting it from my phone. Just stick with the Rav website - don’t bother purchasing this app for less usability.

This app is awesome!. It does everything it claims to. So convenient. I love it.

Good mobile quick app. Nice to quickly upload a photo!

No stars now. Used to be really handy to add pics to Ravelry. Sent out an update and now looks like the camera feature is gone? The new features are things you do in Ravelry anyway and don't need this app. Really disappointed. Paid app. Boo.

Does what it promises to do. Works well. It doesn't let you access the massive Ravelry pattern database, so it doesn't have the potential for endlessly, joyfully wasted hours of knitdreaming...hoping that's the next step.

Best App Ever. You definitely need to be going on the Ravelry site, too, in order to use this but it's awesome. There are a lot of things you can update on this app, and the developers are working hard to make everyone happy. Remember you can upload PDF patterns on to your iBooks. This is probably the most used app on my phone and I recommend it everyone. If you're not happy with it you're probably just too hard to please.

Great update. Love having the ability to navigate my Ravelry data with such an easy to use app. From an aesthetic point of view, would prefer the clean colours of the website and the option to go directly to my dashboard but that's wuibbling

Not happy with update. Prior to the update it was a good app... Could use a little more functionality but worked well. Now since the update it won't even open on my phone, am not a happy user at all!

Update ruined App. This app worked great before the update. Most of the previous features are missing or say ‘Coming Soon’ when you tap the icons. There is no help or contact info within the app either!

My Ravelry on the go... Mostly awesome.. UPDATE; as of Jan 2015, the app looks flashy but doesn't do what I need it to do. It was my go to to load photos from my phone to Ravelry. Now when I try to add pics, I can't use full screen and it refuses to save the pictures. It just keeps spinning uselessly. -------- -----This app does everything that it claims and it does it well... smoothly cleanly and attractively well. I can't seem to save a project as completed and there are a few minor issues but it has been invaluable so far to me.

Good and Getting Better. A nice app and well worth the price. Developers are responsive and open to suggestions. Each version gets better and better. Recommended. Good layout and usability interface. Wooly v1.3: New photo-adding option is terrific. No more excuses for not having a project or stash photo when it's so easy to take a picture, edit, and upload it to Ravelry within minutes. Edit your project info, status, and notes from your iPhone -- priceless! (but not needles or yarn... yet.) Stash view has issues (default view is not sorted into any obvious order, and the search doesn't find all the entries it should.) Projects view also has issues (again, no obvious sorting order, and NO search at all.) When the Stash and Project issues are fixed, this app will earn five stars from me. Charming mascot. :-) Updating my previous review for v1.50. My title still stands: "Good and Getting Better", and Better. The Stash search issue I reported earlier has been resolved. I'm still looking forward to sorting options for both Stash and Projects, and a search for Projects.

Wooly is view Ravelry stuff only.. I was one of the first to buy this app through iTunes. Wow ravelry on iPhone seemed such a lure that I just didn't read the whole description of this app in detail. I hope others do not make the same mistake. It is a great app if you need to access your notebook and friend notebook details on the run, however, it does just that for now. No editing is possible at all. And I tried every possible link so far. In your notebook, you can browse through your projects and your pictures, and read your notes, that's it. If you have added links in your project notes, they do not work. You cannot click through let's say the yarn you used, to see more information on its yardage, weight etc. You have to go to the stash page to see that if you have that yarn in your stash. Forums & Library are not accessible. I would like to say there is a lot more I would like to see in this app before it justifies it's price to get a portion of ravelry in read only. I would rather go to ravelry through safari instead. At least this is a start.

Great app!. I love this app. It works great with my Ravelry and now I can add pictures straight from my phone! Keep up the great work!

Wooly. Coaches me through the steps to keep my projects up to date easily.

Crashing with an iPhone 4. I expected it to be a little glitchy since it's 'optimized' for an iPhone 5. But I can't get the app to open for longer than a few seconds before it crashes. Hoping the approaching update makes it more stable and usable since it otherwise seems like a great app.

Pretty Cool!. I was hesitant at first to spend $4 buying this app but I'm glad I did. MUCH easier to add photos to my projects and can easily update on iPhone. A few updates with making projects completed would be nice but I'm sure they're coming.

Nice app. This app works well with voiceover. Almost everything is clearly laballed. it would be nice if we could create projects on the go using the app, though.

Waste of money if you don't use Facebook. Purchased and haven't been able use it. Emailed for support since I can't receive a verification email to set up an account and received an auto reply. Problem not solved, still no way to log in and connect to my ravelry account. Very disappointed wish I could get my money back

Flat-out doesn't work. Never got past the login screen, the app crashes instantly!

Great Rav companion. I love how the people complaining don't bother to read what this app does. This isn't intended to be a complete Rav on the go! Read what it is capable of. It does everything stated. I use it mostly to add pictures to projects. Sure, it would be great if it did everything Rav does but that just isn't realistic. For what this app is, I like it.

Horrible. If I could give this less than one star, I would. Wooly was never a fantastic app, but it was useful. Now it is trash. Doesn't always show all of my WIPs, crashes 85% of the time, not so user friendly. I like that there should be more options on the app than there used to be, but they don't work at all because the app just crashes. I just want a Ravelry app that works!!!

Room for improvement. While I do appreciate having the ability to see what yarns and needles I already have quickly and the requirements of a queued project, I really wanted the ability to see my patterns for quick reference. I currently use scraps of paper and am waiting for a feature that let's me see the whole pattern and keep track of where I am.

It doesn't do what I need it to do anymore. What happened to the access to my needle records? That was the whole reason I paid money for this app. That and it HAD the best interface to search my stash. This was my favorite knitting app before, but now it's useless. What were they thinking? This upgrade basically threw out all the best parts. I've never heard of an upgrade where the developers actually REMOVE something it used to do. Makes no sense. Can I get my old version back?

Completely Useless Now. I know that everyone wanted this app to be improved with the capability to add projects, yarns, etc. but why add that capability and take away all previous functionality that was needed and loved?! This new version is horrible. I would never have updated if I had known how useless the new version is. I would even pay to get the old one back!! If I can’t, I will delete and use someone else’s app. It’s that bad!

Love this app. I love Wooly. It allows me to quickly upload photos of my projects and stash. And, I can easily update my progress and make notes without dragging out the computer & all that entails to boot it up, login, etc. Keep up the good work guys!

WAS the best Ravelry App.... Ever since the update that removed all photo upload functionality, I have completely stopped using this App. They really should not have updated without having this function ready to go. Save your money until they bring this function back, everything that this app does you can do through Safari anyways.

Finally!. I am so happy to have an app that works with Ravelry because I am certainly not entering in all of that information again. I love being able to look up patterns and projects as well as adding pictures of my stash. I am looking forward to watching this app evolve!

i give it two needles up!. was so excited to hear there is an app to connect to ravelry. i love ravelry but using on phone has been slow and awkward. i would find myself in my yarn store wanting to look up something and it would take forever! app is simple yet gets me right to what i want to see. glad i get to easily connect with friends....often looking to start similar projects to something they just found. look forward to later releases and where they go with it but for now thrilled to have a great way to access ravelry! thanks!!!

Meh.. This app is almost useless. It's great for keeping track of my stash when I'm buying yarn, and what project info it does provide is handy, and it looks nice, but it's SO limited and lacks SO many potential features. And this is a paid app, for god's sake. It also crashes constantly and hasn't been updated in two years. Wish I could get a refund.

Waste of Money. This app does not show amount of a yarn stashed, date and location of purchase, or color family. All this information is on my Ravelry page. I received a quick response when I contacted the developer about this and was told it would be looked into later. Months later it hasn't been addressed so I have deleted the app and look at it as a waste of money. Stash2go is much better!

Only getting better!. It's still a new app and doesn't have all the features I would like, but the ability to easily add pictures to a project and check out yarn requirements on queued projects are really helpful to me.

Fantastic!. I love being able to update my project page directly from my iPhone. Especially since I am lazy and take most of my photos with my phone. I've been using the app for quite some time and have yet to have a problem.

Pretty useless. Aside from the ability to add photos this app is worthless certainly not worth 3 bucks! You can't search patterns, you can't see your favs. The only things you can see are your queue, projects, stash needles and friends and even then you can't actually see the pattern only the details you have added. Why can't anyone make a ravelry app worth having? Unless you really want to add photos from your phone DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Improved my sex life. I lust after yarn. I want to have lots of yarn. But I have problems remembering exactly what yarns I've already added to my stash. With this lovely app, I can see the pretty faces of my in-stash yarns so that I don't forget a name. It's a good little app that will keep getting better. The developers are rock stars!

Argh. So sad to lose Wooly. I've loved the Wooly app for years and find it super for adding project photos, actually it's the only way I've done that for the past year or so. So I was not happy to see that I can no longer use the app as it no requires a Facebook login. Sigh...... I've never had a Facebook account and do not intend to ever start one. Do now I will have to figure out alternatives to Wooly. Off to purchase alternatives........

LOVE Wooly!. Just learned of this and downloaded. Great access to my projects and stash in Ravelry. Now all you need to add is access to my needles and hooks so I can check to see if I already have that size when I'm out shopping. Love it!

Does not load Projects. The interface is awesome; easy to use and pretty. But, it does not load all of the projects that are in my Raverly Account. It only shows one. I wish you could browse patterns through this platform but you can't do that either. I feel like I wasted my money. It is much easier to log into the website via safari then to use this app on my cell phone. I hope there is an update. Total bummer.

Previous Version. Please re-release the previous version and give us the option of downloading the version we need. Not everyone has the new iphone5 with the 6.0 operating system. I lost Wooly when I downloaded the update because it does not work with the iphone3GS with ios5. I am now waiting for the Knitkapp to be released. The support site contains no information and is worthless. Surely Ravelry can do better than this. I don't appreciate being ripped off.

Totally worth the price. for the ability to upload photos directly from my phone! I always set aside time on weekends to shoot things on my porch. No longer necessary. This is a great app for a great site.

disappointed. i just bought the app with the thought of searching for patterns and accessing the ones i had downloaded to my library -- two very basic and important functions-- but realized, after purchasing, that you cannot do either. Please add those functions... would make this app wonderful- as Ravelry already is :)

Great app for Raverly!. This is an amazing app! I love it! It makes it so easy to view my queue and stash on my iPhone without fumbling with the website. The interface is beautiful. I love the wollymamoth in icon, so cute! Oh and viewing project photos with app is awesome!

Take your Ravelry With You!. I love being able to update project notes and photos on the go. Upgrades keep enhancing functionality. I have had some trouble scrolling in the notes field, but overall I am really happy with this app.

Finally!. I needed to be able to upload pics from my phone and at the time Ravelry didn't do that. I was so happy to find Wooly. I love the site and how great my pics look! Thanks guys, great app. I use it all the time.

Okay. This is good for checking my information quickly if I have Internet access. I was hoping for an app that would let me access my needles, stash, etc. Even if I didn't have internet access. I wish the screen would size cleanly for the iPad. Even though it says it works on the iPad, it doesn't size correctly.

Love It!!!!. Just found about this app and so I read the reviews and bought it. I have to say I'm very happy with it. I have an iPhone 4, 3G and it works perfectly fine. Not sure what the other complaints are about. Very excited that I can access all my projects to add to and show them offf at a moments notice :)

Developer feedback. I was disappointed that the application was read only and felt that the description of the app did not reflect that. After some feedback the developer changed the details to make it more specific. They are also working on enhancements to make the app more interactive - so it will be a multi step process. They are interested in feedback so tell them what you want to see!

A Great Beginning. This is a great start. I'm glad I can "show" what I have made. I didn't realize it was a read only app since it didn't mention it in the description. What I really need more us a way to access my patterns. It would be great to click pattern in this app instead of always using Springpad or e-reader. I hope the updates mentioned on Ravelry comes very soon as summertime is my "mobile" time!

A good start!. I like that you can view this without wifi. I like that you can easily scroll your projects to find a picture to show someone instead of having to wait for the projects to load. Do not like that the stash is not in alphabetical order. Waiting for promised improvements to this app and more options.

Great start. Looking forward to future updates to add more features, but this app is a great start! Developers are very active in the rav forum for Wooly and show a genuine interest in what features users are requesting most often.

Nice Quick Reference. Very nice and easy to use...gets 4 stars from me for now but will get 5 soon with updates for editing. One thing to add to stash- can we please see yardage? It would help when traveling not to have to look up the yardage for each skein...

Great app with MARKED IMPROVEMENTS!!!. Keep up the great work! I've had this app from the beginning and am really glad to see the update and improvements. This is my GO TO app for accessing my Ravelry and I look forward to additional improvements!!

Worthless! Can't access patterns or add new projects !. I should have read the other reviews before spending money on this worthless app. I wanted to upload finished projects straight from my phone, and search for new patterns. I can't do either with this app. I don't really want to see what I've already finished, I want to upload newly finished projects and search for my next project. Don't waste your money. I'm really disappointed by this app.

Meh. I'm sure for people who take full advantage of ravelry, this app is fantastic; but I, the limited user, who just searches for patterns, is thoroughly disappointed. It's my own fault for not reading the reviews. This app shows me what patterns are in my queue, but won't let me actually open a pattern. Or search for other patterns. So there isn't much else for me to do with it, besides chat at the nice wooly mammoth and hope that their future upgrades include pattern options.

Great update. I was an early adapter of the app and I really enjoyed it. I drifted away from it for awhile and have now come back with this latest update. I really like it! The app is easy to use and though it is an add on, I really like the photo editing tool. This update is great. The app is clean and smooth and easy to navigate. It is great to have Ravelry in my pocket!

Works great for adding pics to projects. I don't use this app for much more than adding the occasional picture to a project I'm working on or possibly doing a quick search in my stash and for that it's worked great. Never had an issue.

Disappointed. I wasn't going to leave a review because as someone who contributed to the development I said how I felt on the Ravelry group a year ago. Now that it's released I can't help it. Had to check it out. No ability to browse yarns or patterns. Or even see the name of the yarn? No ability to see forums. No ability to add photos. What is the point of this app? And "Featuring" patterns that appear to be from a sponsor without disclosure? Not cool. I can only guess the developers got in over their heads.

Not worth it.. The app is okay in terms of seeing what's in your stash and what equipment you have at home, the only time I would find that useful is if I suddenly had the urge to pick up some extra yarn or replace missing needles while I was out. The number one thing I'm disappointed about is that there's no way to view patterns or even find links to the PDFs via the Ravelry site via the app. You're better off going into a web browser and logging in. I don't want to pay three bucks for a list of yarn, needles, and projects I already know I'm working on.

2/1/18: Can’t log in—only send “Confirmation Email”. I’m a long standing customer. Since the most current update I am no longer able to log in. If the Facebook login is “optional”, why does the email login conveniently lead in a circle of no access? There is no way to contact customer support—“page not found.” I’ll wait a few days, and if no customer service response, will delete.

Can't even get in!. I can't even get past the page that says allow Wooly to access you Ravelry account. It says I'm signed in as my name though underneath! Send me an email developers of you want to walk through this on Skype or something. Shut down the app and reloaded it and now it will let me get past that screen.

Helpful, Efficient, Elegant. Wooly is the iPhone app for Ravelry I have been waiting for. It is clear that the developers John and Dave know what we knitters want and need from this app, and they are working hard to provide it all. The interface is clean and attractive; the photo editing and uploading capabilities are excellent; project editing is smooth. Well worth the (very inexpensive) cost!

Failed to meet expectations from previous version. I loved this app and recommended it to everyone with an iPhone or iPad. The best feature of being able to upload photos is the biggest let down :( I hope that another update to fix the new bugs and reinstate the lost features comes sooner than later!!! I have faith that a fix will come - please & thank you. PS the email icon for app support is broken as well.

Ridiculous. I used this app for years and found it frustrating. Frankly it barely worked and most of the time I couldn't believe I paid money for it. Now it expects has all the features I used behind a "premium" subscription and expects me to log in with Facebook. I'm not paying a subscription for app features I already paid for when I bought the app. I'm not giving them my Facebook so they can mine it for data to sell. I'm done. It will be deleted.

Why? Why? Why?. By FAR, the best thing about this app was the ability to upload photos directly from my phone. Without that, it's hard to imagine that I will use it. The spelling errors - which people have been telling you about for days but still don't seem to be corrected - make you look pretty unprofessional, but the real issue is the functionality. Bring back the photo uploader, please!

OK, and pretty, but pretty limited. I find this to be a very attractive app, and it’s functioning reasonably well for me, but it doesn’t have all the features that some of the others do - there is no access to the forums, for example. So, it’s ok, and I do like the interface, but it doesn’t quite do it for me.

Great app to access Ravelry info!. Love that I can update my projects without having to get out my pc or log in via the web. The ability to add photos to projects is great, as I can do it whenever and wherever I want. These guys are continuing to improve the app and are always open to suggestions.

Awesome Ravelry access app!. This is a great app. The photo uploading works quickly and easily. Access to friends projects, your own projects and stash are great! My wish would be for the ability to search all patterns in Ravelry from within the app - patterns that are not in my queue or a friends' queue.

Pretty much a waste of money!. Thought this would be a great companion app for Ravelry. But it isn't! I don't understand why there is no way to add needles and stash yarns and add photos! I can't really see why spending anything more than .99 cents on an app that just let's u look at snippets of your projects is a good idea. For the price of this app I'd like to see it have the capabilities of adding yarns and photos! Adding needles! Searching new projects! A way to view the project instructions! Without those improvements this app is pretty much worthless!!

I'm disappointed. I hesitated buying this app for a while due to the higher price. But I figured having a mobile friendly format for my ravelry account would be worth it. And it would be if it wasn't missing crucial components. Inability to add new projects or yarns and not being able to access the pattern database severely handicaps this beautiful application. Please consider adding these features. Thanks.

Update has removed valuable features. Before the update, I used the Wooly app for only three things: to add pictures, write notes, and update my progress meter. Unfortunately, the first two of the features have been removed. I had originally been sad that the app didn't have more features (like pattern browsing and making a new project). Now that the basics are gone, there is nothing left for me to use.
