Trial review. Signed up for the free trial to see how this stacks up to Audible. I like the user interface and main screen as it is a little easier to navigate and not as clunky as the Audible one. The display of my library is also convenient and easy to slide through and pick the title I’m looking for. The only downside right now which is why I can only give it 3 stars is the lack of books available that I am looking for. There seems to be no shortage for big author names and best sellers, but I have struck out with more book series and authors that I was looking forward to listening to. I just got through the 6 Cradel books written by Will Wight and wanted to go back and read his earlier series. No luck on this app for Will at all or a few other authors that I was searching for. Easy to use and pleasant experience so far, but the lack of titles and authors will likely lead me back to Audible until the library selection has had the opportunity to expand.

Happy Kids!. I have two tween/teen boys that found books they really enjoyed listening to during long car rides this weekend. They didn’t have any issues at all stoping and picking back up where they left off over the last two days. It was amazing how they were so quiet and no one was fighting. They couldn’t take their headphones off as we were running around, except for to excitedly discuss what they had listened to so far. One read Ghost by Jason Reynolds and one is still reading Ready Player One. They have to read so much for their school AR program, it is nice to give them the option to occasionally listen to a book. I think it will only encourage a desire for them to read more in time. I am also excited to use this service as I am in the car a few hours a day and love being able to use that time to take in new books.

Great Ap!. We downloaded My Inventions by Nikola Tesla for a book report for my teen who was having a hard time getting motivated to read (even though he is extremely interested in Tesla). What a great decision that was! The ap, payment (through PayPal), and downloading the book was super easy and super fast. We were halfway through the book an hour later. I really enjoyed being able to experience the book with him. It gave us lots to talk about and I learned some stuff too (that man was super-human. Wow). I can’t wait to download more books and listen to them in my car while waiting for kids at lessons or while I’m sitting in traffic. I have so many on my list. I’ve tried several other audio book type apps- including public library apps and the popular fall backs, but I have to say this has been the best experience overall in comparison.

Good app for audio books. I was looking into alternatives to Audible for listening to audiobooks. I signed up for Audiobooks free trial and have continued listening. I have listened to three Jack reacher books so far. I enjoy the genre. I’m not too impressed with the VIP selection so haven’t tried any of those. I noticed that the books are not broken down into chapters. This is not a big deal with books like the Jack reacher series, but might be an issue if I wanted to research in a non-fiction book there of course is the fast forward and rewind for 30 seconds I frequently have to do this because I’ve found myself drifting off and having to rewind. The free trial includes a selection from a VIP category. I haven’t really found any books and that selection to listen to, but maybe I will in the future.

Good service, lots of options to choose from... Just started using this app by subscribing to a free trial, so far having good time with the audio books app. It has a range of genres to choose from and has good selection of books in each genre. It also has VIP books per month where you can choose from a wide range updated each month. You can also be a part of book clubs and access all books from a club for one credit. They also have special deals like Under $10 and Buy 2 for 1 price which is amazing. You can start listening to various podcasts, magazines, book summaries etc which is free for members. All these for $15 subscription a month makes this app attractive. The app has the ability to change listening speed and can write notes or bookmark at any place. I feel adding a chapter wise listing within the app would be of great help to the listeners. I rate this app 4 stars.

Gets the job done for fiction - not for ease of use. The app is not very intuitive for controls which makes it feel slow to navigate and frustrating to use. The book selection seems okay. Though, some non-fiction investment books I read elsewhere weren’t there. I downloaded it because I read two books of a trilogy from one service and I wanted to read the third book (which was unavailable from the other service). The Audiobooks app pulled through in this case - and gave me a free credit to read it too! (MaddAddam by Margaret Atwood) Pros: 2x speed so you’re not stuck listening to books super slow Sleep timer up to 90 minutes Cons: 2x speed seems more distorted than other audio apps on 2x speed (maybe just the book I read or maybe my imagination) Sleep timer stops abruptly instead of fading out Controls are weird - no central menu, to access the menu on the left you tap a button on the right, the last book you were reading is always at the bottom (you can’t swipe it away), and in order to access the last book you were reading from the bottom of the screen, it’s not a simple swipe or a simple tap (honestly idk what it is, if you tap just perfectly it works and if you swipe just perfectly it works. But if you don’t do it perfectly then it just kinda teases you and doesn’t actually do what you would expect it to) All in all, it gets the job done and I’m happy I got to finish the trilogy I was reading for free. Thanks Audiobooks!

Great Functionality. Overall, this is a really good app. It has great functionality and I really like that, unlike Audible, I can use my credits within the app. I’ve also used the Scribd app in the past and whenever I adjust the volume in my car it pauses the app, which is really frustrating. I never have that issue here though, which is great. As I said the app has great functionality, but there are a few things in the UI that didn’t seem the most intuitive to me as I read Gregg Horowitz’s Out of the Dark. First, the “hamburger” icon on the top right opens the left side nav, which is both unexpected an unintuitive. There’s also kind of a high learning curve remembering where the wish list is. I expected this to be just another item listed within the side nav, but you have to tap on My Books to get to it. When you think about it, this is a very logical and useful place since it allows you to more easily compare what books you have now with what you want to read in the future, but I find I have to poke around almost every time to remember where it is.

Great App! You get what is advertised as well as what you want with no hassle and easy use!. Hesitantly did the free trial; immediately downloaded 3 books totally free. I was recovering from an illness & thought it would be a good idea to listen to one of my favorite series while bed ridden - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings. To my surprise, the books were available & included in the free trial credits. It was very nice to actually get what was advertised as well as what I wanted. Beyond that, the actual app was very easy to use, had the sleep timer I needed as well as a “bookmark” feature you can leave notes on so that when/if I fell asleep while listening I could easily find my place again. I have read that you get “free” credits for books each month as well. That will be great & I’m looking forward to using this app for a long time in the future. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves to read.

Great app for audiobook lovers!. I discovered audiobooks about a year ago. I would usually listen to them from my local library, however, often times popular books can take weeks- or months- to become available. This app solved that problem for me! It’s a bit of a “luxury” for someone with my income to use. I don’t have a lot of extra money to spend on subscriptions and apps, and there’s an endless supply of both these days. However, the hours of entertainment I get from listening to books is worth it. I absolutely love this new way of “reading” all the books I have been wanting to read but never getting around to it! I am currently about to finish “The Lady of the Lake”- the last book in the Witcher series… (other than season of storms), and it has been yet another great listen! Thank you for this app and the hours of job it’s brought me!

Solid alternative to Audible with one key negative. Like many others, I signed up when up when I saw the offer of 3 free credits during the trial. As others have mentioned, this is somewhat deceptive because the third credit is limited to VIP selections, but it’s still a good introductory deal. So far, the book selection looks fine to me - maybe not quite as extensive as Audible, but pretty close. I primarily read history and most everything f I searched for was available. My one key complaint is that the books download as one large block - no chapter headings or any way to really navigate the book outside of manually fast forwarding or setting your own bookmarks. I’ve been listening to Margaret MacMillan’s “The War That Ended Peace,” which is a 30+ hour book on the causes of the First World War. It’s a great listen and I haven’t had issues with it this far, but with a boom this dense I can see a situation in the future where I might want to jump to a particular chapter or section of the book and that’s going to be much harder to do without any sort of chapter links/headings. I assumed that chapter breaks would be kind of standard for streaming audiobooks at this point t, so hopefully those will be added at some point. That’s my main complaint, but otherwise a solid experience so far.

well written app designed to be the best on the market. it’s clear that this small audiobooks company goes out of its way to make the user experience the best in the industry. When compared to the audiobooks app offered by Apple and other competitors it has thawed out what makes a better product. The limitations of having one device to hold one audiobook by Apple is vastly Limiting in the age of 2018. The customer service offered by this small upstate New York company is superior to all other companies on the market. Whenever I have called with a problem they go out of their way to be helpful and find a solution, which addresses my problem even if they don’t have a design solution. whenever I’ve asked for an answer to a problem they have truly been helpful. It’s always inspiring when a small business tries hard to help their customers. Keep up the good work and positive business attitude.

Awesome, but needs bugs fixed and improvements. The Audiobooks player is packed with features and looks beautiful. However, the companion watch app on my latest IOS Series 5 watch shows left / right repeat buttons too small , too close to the lower side corners, and won’t register when tapped. Then I’ve had my watch freeze and I have to reboot watch. The shape of the repeat buttons isn’t right either as they should be fully round. The buttons on my iPhone 11 Pro Max show the adjustment i made to “15 seconds”. The watch app won’t update and still shows the default “30 seconds” before I changed It on my phone. Lastly, the watch app is missing next / previous track controls. I’m just now even noticing the watch app going to black screen and main app crashes. Also, while I appreciate the app downloads the book, there are other things I don’t like and have questions about : 1. MP3 Audio books are available all over the internet, why is it Audiobooks will not let us download and play on our own players? 2. Why were we not told clearly in advance that we aren’t going to download a mp3? 3. Why are we not told whether we get to use the downloaded audio without time constraints without purchasing the membership? I hope there is a resolution quickly , as I can’t use this product at work without my watch very well and seems little shady not being informed as a customer.

Love this app/service! Book club is amazing. I’m a big consumer of audiobooks, read them constantly and this is a great way to get them. I’m a huge fan of the book clubs they offer, I love that you can pick a genre from month to month and then see lots of different categories of that genre. I picked Romance and was treated with a great variety. I signed up for the free trial and the book club is what made me stick with it after that. I also appreciate the one free VIP book every month from the selection. The app itself is very well designed. (Only needs a dark mode to be perfect.) I love that you can take notes on a book and they get saved in their own little section. Also I appreciate that you can easily switch between how much is left in the book and how much is left in the chapter on the display page.

Frustrating!. It is so irritating that the books I listen to randomly stop and the app completely closes. I have done much troubleshooting and have asked customer support and yet nothing has worked. I have ignored these problems, but I’m simply just sick of them. I’ve had this app for years and over the past couple years a few silly, but ridiculously inconvenient things seem to keep reoccurring:1) the app randomly closes or the book just stops despite a variety of troubleshooting. 2) It will not allow me to listen to my book without a WiFi or cell signal, even though I have the book downloaded (I have done several troubleshooting attempts for this as well) and 3) It sounds garbled and unintelligible when Bluetooth devices are connected to the phone even though other apps as well as the internet seem to work just fine. Overall, it just is very frustrating because the point of listening to a book is to be in the story and enjoy it- this is ruining my experience and it is quite disappointing that simply ‘putting an IT ticket in’ is the answer.

For what I can’t get via my library. I would far prefer to check out audiobooks from my library, but the titles are limited. I am pregnant for the first time and wanted to read some books my friends had recommended, and I only found them here. It’s a good service for listening straight through a book, but since the books I’m listening to are informational, and I don’t care to listen to every chapter, as not all of them pertain to information I am seeking, I wish the book could be navigated by chapter. Instead I have to keep skipping ahead or back 30 seconds at a time and try to figure out where I am in the book this way. Other than that, the app is efficient. It leaves off at my last listening point and can easily be activated in a few seconds before starting my commute. I don’t experience loading times and gaps in playback when I leave the reach of home WiFi, so it’s completely seamless for me. I would recommend.

Great App. So far this app has been great. It has clear sound, isn't glitchy and it has not froze up on me. So far they have had every book I have searched that I would be interested in listening to. The app itself runs smootly and is easy to figure out. I started my trial by listening to The Chemist by Stephanie Meyer. It was my book groups book this month and I had started reading it but needed to listen to it while getting things done if I was going to finish it in time. That being said the one thing that I wish I could have done in this app is to jump to a different chapter easliy. I wanted to start listining where I had left off reading. I eventually found my spot but it would have been nice to just be able to pick which chapter to start on. But everything else so far has been great about the app so I am still giving it a 5 star rating.

Good but needs some work. The app isn’t as intuitive as it could be - fly overs would help a lot over icons at the bottom. It would be excellent if it displayed the chapter that is currently playing. Tracks aren’t very helpful in trying to sort out where you are in the app. I like the fact that I can boost or slow the speed. More control from a locked screen would be excellent or even better it would be awesome to add some SIRI controls when in the car or even at home showing the chapter. For instance, it would be excellent to easily pause the app from any app - widget for while doing other things when the phone rings. Similar to the small PIP of TV or video so control is offered no matter what screen or app I am in (transfer control to the widget to pause or speed up slow down) It would be nice to display on the Lock Screen (and the proposed widget) the sleep timer in effect and how much time remains before cutoff - you could EVEN offer the option to add X number of minutes easily to an existing timer. A quick add of a bookmark from the Lock Screen would be extremely useful if someone is using in the car - of course it would help if voice control could be implemented but a one button push for a quick bookmark would be excellent

There are much better apps for audiobooks. The WORST thing about this app is how unreliable it is. This app abruptly stops and cuts off requiring you to tap the screen to start playing the audiobook almost constantly(sometimes 4-5 x within one minute!) If you start a book and realize 20-30 minutes into it that you just do not like it or that the narrator is not someone you can listen to for 9-15 more hours, you are stuck with it. Audible lets you return books for credit in those circumstances. You cannot always tell in the short sample and by the summary and reviews if an audiobook is going to be to your liking. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I sure appreciate being able to swap it for a different book on Audible. After using this app for a couple of years, I am going to stop my subscription . It has not always had the problem of cutting out, but it seems to be getting worse. I think I’m going to have to find another way to finish my current listen. I don’t have the patience to constantly press play.

Dependable. Love the selection, all the newest and popular books can be found which is a big issue most services have. They are dependable as long as a book is downloaded you can access anywhere , if not it is easy to do and rarely has connection or download issues. I love this service and the app is easy to use across devices. It marks your place so if you change devices it will let you connect to the last place you were even on another device. If you want more you can change your subscription amount and it will give you-the option to change it right them where you will get the new extra credits right away or change it at your next date. Ive done that where i want more then but dont want to just buy the book i change my subscription from 2 a month to 3 and boom there it is. So easy to use easy to find help and selection is so awesome! Plus there are bogo deals every month too!

So far so good. I just downloaded the app and have been listening to Beautiful Boy for a class I'm taking. This app has really helped me get my reading in during small moments during the day. I've tried may other similar apps and this one works well. The reason for 4/5 stars (and it might be a user problem on my end) is because I've had pretty consistent problems with the audiobook starting over again at the beginning when I open the app later in the day when I try to resume listening. It's not a huge deal, but I don't always know the timestamp where I left off so I have to spend some valuable time trying to find my place again. An annoyance, but not a deal-breaker. Hopefully this is due to some small setting needing to be changed on my end. If not, this would be a great issue to address in future updates to make this app even better!

App is annoying. The product is great. Who doesn’t love audio books. And these guys have an ok selection. But the app functions like crap. I always download a book I’m listening to, never stream. And yet this app is nonstop trying to connect to the net. If you drive through a low signal area you will constantly be fumbling with your phone to restart your book and find your spot. This is very annoying and distracting while driving. The app has overlong pauses between saved files that are totally unnecessary, it really takes away from the flow of the story even when it’s a great reader. I have some 30 odd books from this company even tho I’ve stopped my monthly subscription. It always annoys me when I have to come back to this app. Wish I could listen to them through any of my other audio book apps. “Response” I have more than sufficient room on my iPhone. And this is every book every time. There is absolutely no reason your app needs to connect to the net non-stop whyle I’m listening to my book and yet it is constantly checking for a connection. It’s a shame, I entered the audio book world with this app and my Love for books made me overlook these issues. As I’ve branched our to other apps I’ve been shown how lacking this one is.

Good audiobook source. I've used audible before and liked it but I thought I'd check this one out as well since they had different offerings. Overall, I've had a very similar experience. They seem to give a decent amount of included credits for what you pay. I listen to books on my commute and am halfway through The Lost Apothecary. So far I've had no major interruptions or problems. I only have 2 complaints, and they are very minor. First, there doesn't seem to be an Alexa skill to directly play from this service. I can just run it from my phone on Bluetooth, but it's an extra step. The second is my GPS app (Waze) doesn't recognize this app as spoken words so it doesn't pause when the GPS speaks like it does with other audiobook sources. Again those are very minor things that they might address in the future. Overall I am enjoying the service.

Definitely a solid app!. I’m currently working through a free trial of this app and I’m digging it so far! It’s easy to navigate and find what you’re looking for when searching for new books. The main thing I would love to see is a “percentage completed” label on books as you’re reading them. Most reading tracking apps have a percentage option and it’s frustrating to not be able to just put that number in. As someone who’s really into audiobooks, I love that I can click on the narrator’s name to see what else they’re doing! I just finished Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail by Ashley Herring Blake, and it was so easy to just tap on Kristen Dimercurio’s name to see what else she’s read because I enjoyed her narration style. Note: if you’re thinking about using the free trial, just a note that it’s not 3 audiobooks to be chosen from whatever books you want. One of them is, but the other 2 are “VIP” credits and are chosen from a shorter list. Still worth checking out, though!

Wish you’d fix the bugs. I just typed a long review and it reset on me so I’m speaking this and if there are any errors I’m sorry anytime I leave the app and leave it on or the Wi-Fi goes out or go to another app this app locks and it’s splash refresh opening screen there’s nothing you can do you can’t reset your phone you can’t offload the app you can’t close the app and open it up again for it to come back you have to delete the app and all your settings offloading would be great because you don’t have to delete your settings but you have to delete the app I’ve already had to delete it several times I am reading Chris Duncan‘s I am not broken because it’s not an audible I’ve been a member of Audible since 2005 and have never had these issues I might have to cancel this and go with the Google version of ChrisDuncan‘s book if this doesn’t get fixed. I do love that you can do high-speeds because on audible for so long I only listen to books on high speeds now

Good enough, but could use work. Ok app, great service. Have only listened to one book so far but it was one of the 28 hour books in the Dark Tower series by Stephen King so I think I gave it a fair shot. I’d prefer if it allowed you to use chapter selections instead of choosing by track which just wasn’t the same since they aren’t labeled to give you an idea of what part of the book each track covers. Also the scrolling could use some work - it won’t allow you to simply drag to a different part. If I lost my place (used the book to help me fall asleep some nights) I’d have a hard time finding it again the next day - I’d screenshot the time I started and I’d then have to find the track that was closest then skip forward or backward in 30 second increments. There has to be a better way. But overall I like the app and they have a large selection of books. There hasn’t been a single book I’ve searched for that wasn’t available. Although the search function is also lacking. I don’t think it can find books through a partial title search. I tried searching for “Stephen king dark tower” and it gave me an error. Tried searching for “Stephen king song of” and got an error. He’s written so many books that simply scrolling through a search just for his name wasn’t finding the specific one I wanted. Finally searched for “dark tower vi” and found it. Maybe the coders don’t actually use the app, I don’t know, but I’m sure it would be better if they did.

Pretty good app!!. I tried out Audiobooks because they offered me some free books and a free trial period. I’m in my trial period and have been exploring the app. I LOVE the way I can trade a credit for free access to a large library of popular books in the Audiobooks Club. It offers several categories to choose from and one of the categories includes selections available from all the categories. I can binge listen for free to books that would require a credit to be used on another reading app I have. Also it is cool that each month I receive one credit for any book along with one credit for a VIP book. The VIP section has a limited number of books to choose from, but there are many interesting titles. Also there are so many news casts, podcasts, magazines and free books available. The Free Books section has newer edition books and a lot of classic literature available. I get really caught up looking at the entire list and viewing a number of books written by writers from the past - Jane Austen, Mark Train, Aristotle, James Fenimore Lewis, Lewis Carrol and many more! My first listen was The Vanishing Half: A Novel by Brit Bennet for my book club. This was a very interesting read! I rate this 4 stars rather than 5, because it was sometimes a bit difficult for me to fully navigate the app at first. After some trial and error, I have no problems now. Dfnurse777

Genuinely Satisfying. I’ve spent some time with the Audiobook’s app, listening to “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and let me tell you, it’s a long but entertaining dilemma mosts guys struggle to better. I mostly enjoyed the listening experience, b/c of the multi-tasking feature (one doesn’t have to have the app open) and the audio itself, leaving me with more time and attention to divert elsewhere! P.S. So I did a review before an immediate review that I did before this exact one you are reading. Now, both of the previous Reviews that weren’t submitted that I just mention, were b/c of the very two following reasons; First I clicked out of Apple Store and it so generously restarted the app and erased my 10 min. Long Review, then the second time I was disconnect from the wifi and didn’t realize and clicked the “send” button! So yea I’m a bit Stressed. Like reallllly Stressed.

Love this App & the book “Definitely Hispanic!”. Just downloaded the book"Definitely Hispanic" to listen to while I’m driving in my car and looking for a distraction during my physical therapy “homework”. It is touching, close to home & thought provoking all at the same time! I have anxiety & this whole isolation thing during this pandemic has done a job on me, so this book kept me calm & laughing long enough to forget the noise & continue to have hope for humanity! The interface of Audiobooks is so simple & user friendly to download books and get to listening, plus I feel like I get more of a feel for the story & the author when I get to hear their own voices narrating, their passion comes through their voices in a genuine, pure way that you just can’t feel the same way when reading on paper/device, plus you can be hands free!

App crashes constantly!. This app used to be a good app to use to listen to audiobooks that I couldn’t get though the library. However, recently I have come back to it to listen to a book and I can’t listen for more than 10 minutes without the app crashing on me. I listen to books a lot when I drive and when I work and it crashes at least 5-10 times each day as I’m trying to get through a book. Seeing as I’m paying for these books, this is extremely frustrating as I can’t just sit and listen to a book all the way through. Also, the bookmarks don’t seem to work. I bookmark a spot so I can come back to it should I fall asleep while listening but when I go back to find the bookmark, it is not there. It would also be nice if there were a way to navigate between each chapter rather than tracks of the book Overall, I’m extremely frustrated with this app and am seriously thinking of canceling my subscription!

Loving this app so far!. I’m a new user and signed up for the free trial bc I couldn’t find some audiobooks I really wanted to listen to through my library or library apps. I just finished listening to my first book (Man of the Family by Ralph Moody) and loved it! The app makes it so easy to download and listen to books, and the only thing I didn’t like is I don’t think tracks line up with chapters so occasionally when I wanted to restart a chapter (bc I had listened ahead but my kids, who were listening to the book with me, had missed a part when they weren’t with me) I had to just keep skipping through thirty seconds rewinds to get where I wanted to go. (In retrospect , I probably could have bookmarked the spot before going on, but didn’t think of that since I am new to audiobooks.) I like that I can see how much time is left in the book and have been very impressed at the fast download time and how easy it is to find books I am looking for.

Difficult to get accompanying pdf files. You always have to ask for the accompanying pdf/appendix or whatever additional documentation that is available instead of being able to just go to a site on the app and download it. This requires you to contact customer service, which takes a while before you are connected with someone. I always have to contact customer service to get these. The most recent one I have tried to obtain has been impossible. A notice popped up when I first began the book (about downloading the file) and the author says to see accompanying appendix in the book but since I was driving I ignored it. I was told that sometimes you have to go to the author’s website to get this (however I was unable to find anything). I asked if I could have whatever popped up when I first downloaded the book (so I could see if there was a website) and was told that they double checked for a pdf and the publisher did not send them one. NOT HELPFUL...and never got the file. Laura 249er

Poor App. Not ready for primetime, at least on my iphone 7 running 12.4.1. The basic problem is the thing is always looking for a network connection before it wants to play, even if you’ve downloaded the book to your device. Very often if you want to start listening when you don’t have a connection (and lots of us live in rural areas where the network goes in and out depending on where you are) the app just refuses to open, sticking on a spinning logo. Further, once it does open, and the books is playing, it will shut down again regularly if it goes through an area with no connection - again, this is trying to play books that you have downloaded to your phone specifically to get around the problem of spotty networks. Finally, when you’re back up and running, it will give you a dialog showing a choice between two saved bookmarks and will ask you which one of these you want to start playing from - usually neither of these bookmarks are within 10 minutes of where you actually stopped listening. I contacted the company once to see if I was doing anything wrong, and the nice young lady somewhat sheepishly acknowledged that the problems I outlined did indeed exist. There’s been at least one update since then, but it hasn’t got any better. It’s a shame, because I really want there to be a solid competitor to Audible, but Audiobooks dot com books can only be played on this app, and this app is really quite poor.

Audibooks App Review. Nice app once you figure it out. There’s a lot on the app so it can be a bit of an eye sore at first use. I found it a little difficult to navigate initially, had trouble downloading the audiobooks to other devices without downloading the app to each advice but I also didn’t read up on how to do it so I’m sure the information is somewhere in the app. I also wish there were more book options. I tried to transfer my wishlist from Apple Books app but several of the titles weren’t available in the Audiobooks App. But there was a book that Apple Books discontinued and I was able to find it in the Audiobooks app catalog so there is a pretty vast catalog. I’m still learning the app but I’m enjoying it so far. I didn’t understand how instacredits worked and because it’s not explained when the option is offered I accidentally purchased a book I thought was being given as an advance credit. So it’s best to google or ask customer support about certain features because it’s easy to accidentally select an option you didn’t intend to select because you don’t understand it entirely and little detail is provided during the transaction. Overall I enjoy the app and listened to 48 Laws of Power which I loved!!!

Audiobooks so far is the best!. I don’t have a ton to say just yet, as I am new to audiobooks. But I used to have audible for couple years and it was ok but audiobooks offers so much more especially with the use of their app. I really like the features much better for instance just to name a couple the sleep timer since I listen every night which last I checked audible didn’t have since I fall asleep during listening it makes it much easier to find where I left off instead of continuing to play only to wake up to see the book is finished and have to try and remember where I left off. Also like the ease of fast forwarding and track list. I decided recently to try and find audio app that better suited me so I decided to give audiobooks also another one a try to see if I liked them better or if I should just go back to my old subscription. And as of right now I’m definitely leaning towards audiobooks. I definitely like it best of the three I have tried.

Playback features need improvement: Chapter selection and scrolling. I’m halfway through my second book and continually lament the ability to select by chapter. There are tracks listed but don’t match up to chapters. This is especially painful when picking up my device during playback my thumb touches the beginning of the playback scroll bar and the book starts over! My last place was lost! And there was no “go back to previous place” option. Ugh! Other apps offer this option. I have begun to - almost frantically - use bookmarks just so I have some record of how far I’ve gotten. Make the graphic of the book smaller and use more screen space for added playback features, please! Beyond the playback screen, the rest of the app’s feature appear helpful and easy to navigate. I’m not giving up on the app yet just because there are room for improvements!

Good app, could be great. Downloaded the app because vision problems make reading difficult and audiobooks allow me to continue to pursue my life-long love of books. I’ve been using both OverDrive and Audible in the past. Chose Believing the Lie by Elizabeth George as my first selection because it is not available from my library. There is a nice selection here, which is very appreciated for future audiobooks. The app works well so far but I would recommend two areas for improvement. I fall asleep while listening and as many other reviewers have stated it is not easy to scroll back to find where I fell asleep usung either the total time Seekbar or the Track Seekbar. The second improvement I would recommend is related-I wish a dark mode of the app were available because the play screen is largely bright white and a dark mode or less white space on the screen would make restarting the audiobook more pleasant in the middle of the night, especially since scrolling to find my spot is more difficult using this app.

So much better then audible!. As I have gotten older and graduated college and began my life as a full time employee I lost my time to read that I loved so very much. As life goes it gets crazier. Now as a mom and full time employee who travels 30 plus minutes one way to work I only had my car time to myself. I finally tried to listen to some of my old favorite books before trying new things to see if I really liked listening to books, and obviously I did. I finished my first book on audible within days and couldn’t get another credit for another month! Well I didn’t want to wait and I couldn’t figure out (on the app) how to get more credits. So I started searching and found Audiobooks! And I have to say it is set up way better and the ability to buy more credits within the app whenever I want is so nice. That way I always have something to listen to on my long drives. Only down side is my “bookmarks” are off occasionally and I have to search or skip to the last part I was at. Otherwise I am very happy with the app!

More affordable, and just as good as competitors. What’s to say, I use a library audiobook borrowing app that is free but sometimes I have to wait weeks or months for my book to become available. Often it just doesn’t have the book I want. Audible is expensive and only gives you a book a month and their free trial is only one book. I’m on a free trial now and will likely keep this app, so far I’ve listened to The Infinite Machine about crypto currency Ethereum and also Hello, Shadowlands, an investigative journalism book about corruption and various underworlds across Southeast Asia. Both books have been great, the apps interface is intuitive and it’s more affordable than audible Also I’m going to get a free credit for writing this review, but honestly to me that shows they value their customers. No offers like that from their competitors!

Good but could be a little better. After recently downloading this app to try an alternative to Libby and Audible, I have been pleasantly surprised. The app functions similarly and has a mostly smooth interface. It’s relatively easy to navigate, it has crashed on me once but that was no big deal. My main issues are that the tracks on my audiobook aren’t named, only numbered by time which can make it a little confusing. I’d like to see chapter titles added in the future. Additionally, the bookmark function is a little clunky and not intuitive. Instead of accessing it from the main listening page, you have to navigate out using the waffle and go to “my notes”. While I do like the notes feature, I think it would be a better experience if you could just see all your bookmarks on the main book page while listening.

Credits expiring/pain to stop payments. While the app works well and has a good selection of books, the billing and credits I feel are not good service. There are several books that I personally enjoy but understandably aren’t popular enough to make it to their selection. At that point I find myself listening to other things and the billing continues regardless. That is a bit annoying but what I think is unethical and nonsense is the 15$ I spent is essentially stolen from me if I don’t use it. I think it was after about 3-4months which I think is just absolutely unfair and offensive. To stop payments I have to call in and deal with someone who in the past gently tried to prevent me. If there was an option to control on the app it wouldn’t bother me as much, but to have a business model that tries to have loss prevention measures by inconveniencing customers instead of make a quality model that works for them is wrong in my humble opinion. I give 2 stars instead of 1 because the app does work well, other than it draining money from me if I don’t pay close attention.

A solid alternative to Audible. I recently made the switch from Audible just to give Audiobooks a try. I’m very happy with the selection and found a bunch of treasures in their free section that I’m so excited to get to. My first book with Audiobooks is the second book in the King Killer series by Patrick Rothfuss, The Wise Man’s Fear. I’ve just started it and have 43 epic hours to go! The Audiobooks App isn’t as intuitive as Audible but is easy enough to figure out. Buying a book automatically starts a download, and I didn’t want each one to download right away so it took a bit to negotiate that challenge. Also there isn’t an intuitive “back” button in many circumstances; you have to access the menu to go back to where you were previously. If you’re thinking about trying Audiobooks, I recommend that you do. I think you’ll be happy with the selection and app once you figure it out!

So far so good. I just got this app yesterday but so far so good. There is one feature I can’t seem to find and am slightly annoyed by. However that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist, but if it does I wish it was easier to figure out. Here it is, it seems like you get to select a playback option in the settings (for example mine is 30 seconds) but after you choose it seems you’re stuck with just that option. Sure change it again but I’d like to be able to go back 30 seconds AND go back a chapter. There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to restart a chapter or select a chapter specifically. Now like I said I haven’t spent any time looking for any tips or instructions for using this app, so maybe it’s right there and I haven’t realized it yet. But if that’s the case then I’d say this app is quite similar to audible, but not as user friendly in that way. Still, I’d recommend this app for anyone wanting to listen to audiobooks. The playback thing is minor and may not bother most people so clearly they’re doing everything else ok, so worth a download if you’re interested in audiobooks.

Mom’s Best Friend!. After being a stay at home Mom for 10 years, I finally started working again. One thing I have missed about my quiet days at home when the kids are at school, is being able to read a book. Most of my days off are spent catching up on housework and running errands, so I rarely have time to read. I was told by a few friends to try audio books. I tried a few similar apps, but found some issues I didn’t care for. My wish list wasn’t easily accessible, the audio wasn’t great, selection was mediocre, etc. I decided to try Audio Books, and I found my match! I love the app! I’m currently listening to The Outsider by Stephen King (it’s one of my favorite books) and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The app is easy to use! I found some super great Podcasts I love, too! I turn it on when I’m cleaning, cooking, driving, even getting ready for work first thing in the morning.

Update: Audiobooks for the win!. Update: I was mislead at sign up with the 2 books per month, when you actually get 1 book of your choice and 1 VIP book which is extremely limited and had nothing I want to read. I chose audiobooks over Audible because I was under the impression when I read "2 books per month" that it was a much better deal. So I have cancelled my subscription. The initial sign up deal is great though! I just wish they were a little more transparent in their offer. Original review: "So far so great! I'm several chapters into my first book and I'm loving the ease of use. when I open the app, my book is there ready to play unlike some other apps I've used where I have to go to my book shelf and load it each time. I also love that you get 2 book credits per month rather than one, that's honestly been the biggest reason why I haven't stuck with other subscription services."

Great app, great books. This is an awesome app! I stumbled across it searching online for an audiobook I couldn’t find anywhere else, and wondered why I’d never heard of it before as I’m addicted to audiobooks. I honestly signed up for the free trial to get two audiobooks I’d been dying for, but have realized I like the app so much I might pay for it. I’ve found audiobooks I can’t find anywhere else. I also love their selection of free books - I immediately discovered an audiobook by my favorite author I was totally unaware of narrated by a voice actor I’d never heard of but is better than any other I’ve heard. I couldn’t find it in any other audiobook app or online bookstore. Not to mention the app’s interface is so easy to navigate, and I love the audiobook clubs idea. The one thing I haven’t figured out yet is how to remove a downloaded book from my device but I’m sure I will. I’m so glad I discovered this app!

It’s got some bugs but worth it. According to the app I’ve been a member for 1222 days. I’ve also joined the book club to have access to even more than just the ones I buy. I’ve listened to so many books that I started creating booklists for series that I want to listen to so I don’t forget about them. Sitting down with an audiobook going with some classical music playing in the background while I do my embroidery projects or when I’m typing away at work is the best stress relief. My only complaint right now, is that many multiple books series are not ALL available in the book clubs. It’ll be the first 4-5 then a couple not in it and then the rest of the series. Which keeps me from starting the series until I have more credits and creating a booklist to wait for later. Unfortunately now, when I go to create a new booklist, it crashes the app and I cannot create anymore so I know I have forgotten quite a few books I wanted to read later when I can afford to buy them. That’s a bug I would welcome having fixed.

Great overall experience. But synch problems. I have been using the app for a few days now. I am listening to “The 5am Club”. I love how I can use my credits directly within the app. I can’t do this with Audible. However, I have experienced two notable problems: 1) I have tried listening to my book both on my iPhone and on my tv (using Apple TV). For some reason, the app isn’t holding my place very well. A few times I have listened to the book on my phone, then come home and turn on my Apple TV to listen, and it is still at the place where I last stopped listening on the Apple TV, which could be an hour or so behind! To solve the synch problem I now just create temporary bookmarks when I stop listening. This is a bit inconvenient; 2) a few times I have hit the 30 second rewind and somehow the app had fast forward instead. I thought it was user error, but it happened several times. This seemed to clear up on its own, as it hasn’t happened recently. But I wonder if it will happen again

Good experience so far. I’ve just started using this app, but it seems to be everything you need and nothing you don’t. Not only does it have a good selection of books, plus an additional VIP book per month, the app function itself is ideal. It’s got a sleep timer, bookmarks for when you want to go back to something that really impacted you, plus the ability to change the speed which I usually bump up to 1.5 when I listen to audiobooks now. It helps me get so much more reading in, and you don’t sacrifice quality in the process. I also LOVE that it shows where you are in the book as a whole (like 1:55 of 7:42) but it gives you different tracks within that too! It’s really nice to get to see it broken down in little chunks in addition to your total progress. I first listened to the free VIP book “Nudge” and it was surprisingly good! Something I wouldn’t have normally picked to read but thought “why not” and I’m glad I did. We’ll see how things continue to go, but so far I think it’s a good service and a well functioning app.

Audiobooks Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I have about a 45 minute drive to and from work every day, so that’s 1 1/2 hours of listening to radio stations that get fuzzy or have commercials. I decided to try Audiobooks and much to my surprise, I actually get excited about my drive now. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the book. I’m not fidgeting with the car radio trying to see which station isn’t fuzzy. I’m currently listening to Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I just read the paperback versions of the 2nd and 3rd books in the series but didn’t have the first book in paperback, so I decided to use my trial credit to get the first book. I love this! The female voice who reads is amazing. She can change her pitch for each character and has a great quality to her voice. She knows just the right times to emphasize certain parts. It’s wonderful. If only the price was a little lower it would be perfect.

Good App, Could Use Some Improvement. After being a user/listener of Audible for a while, I thought I would give some other audio book services/apps a try. Not that Audible is not good, I just knew that some other services were available and decided to give them a try since my membership at Audible had ended. I settled on Audiobooks, as they appeared to have a pretty comparable selection and they also offer a selection of free titles along with membership titles. I am currently listening to ‘Girl, Forgotten’ by Karin Slaughter. The quality of audio and narration is excellent. The only issue I have really found is in the fact that you cannot easily rewind and fast forward to find your place. It jumps way back if you try to rewind. One night, for some reason, the app started playing while I was asleep for a while. When I woke up and heard it, I turned it off and attempted to rewind, but could not easily get anywhere near where I had been when I was last listening to it. I essentially had to listen to about 20 minutes all over again just to not miss anything. The app has been good and glitch free otherwise.

Excellent. Downloaded this app with a 30 day free trial and credit to purchase 1 book for free. This app was true to its word as I had downloaded previous apps that charged me just to look! Easy to use and will be sticking with this app! I chose Run Rose Run by Dolly Parton and James Patterson. The audio version is brilliant. Dolly Parton along with other country music singers are the characters and read the book. It really brings the book to life!

Love it. Currently I’m not allowed to spend to much time with screens or straining my eyes after having lasik surgery on them. So I found this app! It’s nice and simple to use and so far I love it!! The first book I have listened to was The pageant by Leigh Walker. Loved it. I just wish all of her books were out as audio books already! Never liked audio books in the past as I love reading but this is a good alternative when I can’t read to much yet!

All The Light We Cannot See. I’m new to the Audiobook App and am so impressed by the selection of books available, including the monthly free credit selections. I’m thoroughly enjoying listening to my first book choice, “All The Light We Cannot See” by Anthony Doerr - marvellous book, beautifully narrated. I’ve used a couple of other audio book apps but Audiobook is definitely superior - when paused, for however long - minutes, hours, days - the narration immediately continues at the press of the ‘start’ button, unlike the other apps I’ve used which have to “buffer up” before starting again. All around, couldn’t be better.

Excellent, user friendly. I was always dubious about audiobooks in general, thinking I needed a visual aid, but since trying this app I’m a complete convert. The quality of the recordings is incredible and so engaging. The app itself is also very user friendly and everything is seamless - unlike competitor apps which often also make you log in through a browser, with Audiobooks you can do everything right there through the app.

Excellent audio. I’ve only just started using this app but so far it has been superb! Very intuitive to use and some neat features that make it much better than some other apps I’ve used. Good variety of books available as far as I’ve looked and a good range of free items that I will likely listen to once I’ve finished my current book which is ‘men and women in church’ by Kevin de young. The audio quality has beeb excellent and same with the quality of the reading. Given I can’t even buy a physical copy of this book yet, only ebook, I’m pleased to have been able to get the ebook. Anyway, clearly a winner for me so far.

Recommended. I listened to 'four' by Veronica Roth and it was great. The books are awesome to listen to during free time and when your bored and don't feel like reading. I love the download feature. It was really quick and easy to listen to offline. It also saved where I was up to so I could come back and listen without hassle. They have plenty of titles too.I have to give it four stars because it's quite pricey.

Revolutionised my daily Commute. Audio Books has turned my previous frustration of the daily commute to & from my office or meetings into my new classroom. I actually look forward to getting in the car & digesting information from any manner of business & leadership related authors. Additionally, when someone previously recommended a book to me, more often then not I’d forget the title when it came to my next purchase. Now I say “hold on a moment” & immediately download or add it to my wish list. Cannot rate Audiobooks highly enough. Emily

Easy and practical. Since I have been walking a lot more I have been getting over listening to the same repeat music so I have recently changed to audio book. I don’t have a lot of time to sit and read so listening while I move around is perfect for my lifestyle There is a such a big range of books to listen too

AudioBooks a nice way to listen. This app is quite different to all other major audio book apps. I enjoy the aesthetic design and how easy it is to skip back or forward to specific chapters. Whilst there have been a few minor glitches in sound consistency, that may be due to poor internet connection. Overall a good app and holds a fantastic library of options

Why no chapter titles?. 4stars because I love books BUT I do find it extremely frustrating that there are no chapter headings that you can refer to. With all books but especially with nonfiction books where you might want to relisten to a particular idea and you end up wasting a LOT of time trying to find the right section. It seems like such an easy and useful feature to add...? What gives?

Easy to use. So many features.. Have loved using this app! First time audiobooks user and signed up for the free 30 day trial. It did not disappoint! Easy download of my first book, loved the functionality of turning the book off after a prescribed period of time (I’m known to read for hours on end!!) Loved the feature of being able to speed up the reading of required. Have recommended to my family and friends!

Super Impressed. This is our first time using Audiobooks and we are loving it. My 8 year old and I are sharing it and mostly using it for long drives- but.......we are so involved and captivated by the Warrior Cats series - we have to know what’s happening next - so it’s on in the background at home now- haha. The selection of stories is excellent the download is fast and there have been no complications with communication, payment and processing. Am very happy with Audiobooks and highly recommend this app.

Good deal. I have recently started using this app and can say with full certainty that I am quite satisfied with the overall features and experience that this app offers. I was initially interested in the 1 credit plus 1 vp title offer as it seemed like very good value for the free trial and subsequent monthly subscription fee. I was pleased to find that the VIP section wasn’t merely a collection of unknown titles, but rather offered a selection that spanned multiple genres (I myself read “Startup Nation: The story of Israel’s economic miracle” which I was able to finish much faster than a print book due to how convenient it was to fit it into my daily life).

My new best friend!. I was very pleased to discover the Audiobooks App, because it allows me to ‘read’ a book I’d had in a paperback version for several months that hadn’t moved from the shelf! I hadn’t had enough hours in the day to sit down and read the book, which was ‘Becoming Supernatural’ by Dr Joe Dispenza. Since downloading the App, though, I’ve have been able to ‘read’ the book while exercising, preparing meals, and shaving. I particularly like the large’Play/Pause’; ‘Rewind’ and ‘Forward wind’ buttons which facilitates great control. However, I was surprised the App doesn’t ‘righten’ itself when I turn my iPad upside down. But a feature I am impressed with, is the ability to pick up reading on my iPhone when driving, from the point I’d left off on my iPad back home!

Greggo. Found Audiobook couple of years ago and found them a lifesaver. I was always stopping and starting a book and found it frustrating at times. Always take me a while to get into a book but found Audiobooks and the reader would lead me off into the book in a different way and I enjoyed it far more each time I started a new book.

Amazing app!. I’ve been absolutely loving this app! The convenience and ability to chuck a book on in the background of doing other tasks or driving allows for my time to be better utilised as I don’t have the time to read a paper book. Such a great concept, I’ve been listening to the space in between and it’s one of my favourite books to date! Amazing app

Easy to navigate but it keeps losing my place.. Have recently signed up to this one and I am finding it really easy to navigate and I really enjoy the audiobooks. The more I have used it the more it drives me nuts though. I am not sure why but if I need to pause it for whatever reason, when I press play again it has lost my place and I end up back in the previous chapter. It is so frustrating. I have used Audible and BorrowBox to listen to books and have never had this issue. There are so many great features to the App but wasting my time trying to get back to where I am up to over 10 times a day just over rides them all. I am not no longer a fan of this App.

Convenience at my fingertips!. I’ve tried other audiobook apps and this one is by far superior. The selection of titles, authors and genres are exactly what I need to escape into a literary world of entertainment. I recommend it to everyone in my family before we take vacations and we can often all be found on a beach with different stories playing in our earbuds as the kids play in the sand.

So little time, such a great idea.. I’ve got a baby at home that has just started crawling. She demands all my attention and I’m happy to give her what she needs. It’s also nice to have something for me. Playing an audiobook in the background not only serves my intellectual needs but also provides soothing tones for my baby to listen to. The audio can be paused and restarted whenever convenient. No need to find your page. Currently listening to Unconditional Parenting, a great book on the misconception around raising children. A real eye opener.

Buggy. I grabbed a book on this app bc it wasn’t available on Audible. Downloaded it but when I started playing it, it kept resetting. Constantly getting messages of not being able to operate when there was no internet connection. Why did that matter when the book is downloaded? Was very temperamental and at times forgot where I last stopped reading bc I happened to be in garage hence no reception. So had to read some chapters a few times. This needs more work. I’d only ever use as a last resort if the book is not available anywhere else.

Mastering Your Mean Girl. Took me a while to get into this book - I downloaded and listened to a heap of others before finally returning to this one. Suddenly the timing must have been right because I can’t get enough of it. I’ve just listened to the chapter on self-worth affirmations and within 24 hours manifested a huge payout I definitely wasn’t expecting into my bank account. Can’t recommend it enough!! 10 out of 5 stars.

We’ll functioning app. This app has a clean design and works well. I have been listening to Judy Greer’s memoir I Don’t Know What You Know Me From. Easy to navigate and adjust speeds, and I have not had any issue with playback or retaining progress (like on some competitors). You can toggle between displaying time remaining in your current chapter and time remaining overall, though it would be good if you could view both at once.

Ultimate You by Andy Anderson. Absolutely fantastic and inspiring book. Pulls together concepts and quotes from so many of my favourite authors and ties each one in with practical steps that anyone can start doing right now to propel themselves forward along the path to becoming their ultimate selves. Loved the book and am already seeing the benefits from the small changes I have implemented from each chapter xxxx

Amazing Selection of Audio Books. To be honest I’ve used other audio books programs before but they were super confusing to use so I gave up and gave last chance to this program. It’s unreal. Has all the books you could imagine. I didn’t even think that I could find an audio book on a food disorder in this app!!! Amazing 😸

Rediscovering my love for books. Love this app, so easy to use with a wide range of book. After some recent health issues I have been unable to sit down and read a book like I use to, this app has given me my love of books back, making books accessible when I’m too unwell for traditional books

Two major problems - playback speed and offline access. Overall this app does what it advertises, and it has a good range of titles. However, there are two key problems that make this platform almost unusable for me. The first is playback speed, which only goes to 2x. I usually listen with a minimum speed of 2.5x, so the playback sounded painfully slow. (For comparison, audible allows up to 3.5x and Libby 3x. The second issue is that the app will not open when not connected to a network/wifi. This is very frustrating when I have purchased and downloaded the books - I should be able to listen when and wherever! Importantly, it means I cannot use this app when I am travelling/commuting - one of the main times I want to listen to audiobooks. I won’t continue after my free trial for these reasons. Would be happy to come back if these limitations were addressed.

Love this app!. I had found that I’d been reading less & less But wasn’t sure about the whole audio book phenomenon...until I downloaded this app & it has been a game changer! So easy to use & a great price for books which means can listen as often as I like! I’ve just started Sapiens & I am loving the narration which just brings the book to life! Highly recommend this app!

Keep me in the app!. I just finished ’Black Flags, Blue Waters: The Epic History of America’s Most Notorious Pirates’. Finally, an audiobook app that allows me to browse, buy, and download books directly to my device. Once you’ve found your preferred book, navigation of the app is simple and functions the way one would expect. However, taking notes while listening in the app is a little tricky. Its hard to tell if you’re viewing a note you bookmarked or if you’re still in listening mode as the app doesn’t just record the section you started and stopped on, it continues to play audio well beyond where you may have intended the note to end. Instead of an audio bite, I’d love to see the note transcribed. Then I wouldn’t have to stop and leave the app to write things down somewhere else on my phone. But if you’re looking for something fun and a little bit extra on your next car drive. Go to settings on your device and connect the Audiobooks app to the Waze GPS app. The integration of both apps into one is absolutely awesome and a much needed feature. Hint! Hint! Keep me in the app.

A whole new world. Time poor and attention poor, I’v missed reading books, however, the introduction to audio books has made me excited again about books. Being in the car often gives me fantastic opportunities to listen to the classics I want to revisit and the new stuff I have always wanted to get involved in. The books I have purchased have been fantastic. Features like sleep timer or narration speed changes are useful too. My only small problems have been 1. The free books have not played successfully, unsure though if there is something I’m not doing properly to make them work and - I’ll keep trying. 2. Not enough Australian author / history / local interest content. Other than that ... I’ve found it easy to use and navigate - changed my driving world and loving the ideas of books again

Rediscovering the magic of books. Having been an avid reader in the past, family and work and life in general left me with no time to read. Fast forward to Audiobooks - recommended by a friend - and wow - what a revelation. I can set a sleep timer, put the audio on my Bluetooth speaker and listen while I gently fall asleep. I can see books being a part of my life again. Thanks AB.

Works well, good options. I especially downloaded audiobooks to listen to Rebecca McLaughlins book ‘10 questions every teen should ask and answer about Christianity’. I wanted to quickly read/listen to the whole book to make sure it was suitable for my youth group and this was the only place I could find the audio book. The app works very well and the book was excellent.

Multi-talkers: rediscover books. So happy I found the audiobooks app! I used to read a lot and I definitely miss books. Just like most of us, I have limited free time, and hence never get round to the pile of books I have lined up to read. I was really keen to read “Breaking the habit of being yourself” by Dr Joe Dispenza, but after many months of barely touching the book, beside my bed, I had an idea. ‘See if I can get a hold of an audiobook for my phone.’ Now I can take advantage of those moments when I am free (but don’t have my book with me), and also make use of the time when commuting to and from work to squeeze in my “book time” via the audiobooks app. I especially love that I can now enjoy a book via the app whilst still doing my arts and crafts. Modern technology at its finest.

Review. Currently travelling around the world, I spend long hours on buses and flights with tired eyes and a restless attitude. I have for the past few days discovered the wonder of Audiobooks. I have been listening to Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, a book that is so large and intimidating that I have found so hard to commit past the first two chapters every time I picked it up despite loving it each time. I read all the time, some would say too much for my own good but Outlander has been a scary prospect. Not only is the first book a monster but the rest of the looong series is too. Reading it through Audiobooks as I am on buses, trains and the subway working my way around Taiwan has been an incredible experience. I feel so accomplished and don’t feel the same pressure as I did when turning the first few pages over with the looming chunk of pages in my back hand. The reading and accents is fantastic and really immersed me into the book with the impossible Scottish accent, much better than my own attempts would have ever been. I deeply recommend Audiobooks!

So efficient!. Only new to audiobooks and recently starting listening to a few and it has been amazing! I can get way more content accurately and efficiently while walking, resting, jogging, etc. A Million Miles in a Thousand Years by Donald Miller wrecked me so much, and I could go back to chapters or moments I liked and hear them again to absorb all the goodness, I’ve now started another book called Love Does by Bob Goff.

Easy to use, more free books offered. The audiobook app is easy to use. Compared with the Audible app, this app offered two free books during the trial time while the Audible app only offer one free book. There are many books in the book library. One thing that I think the app should have is the functionality of exchange of books if the user just listen to a small part of it but do not like it.

Compact app. This is a great audio book app as it has several features but is easy to navigate. I have been listening to Failure is not an Option by Gene Kranz of Apollo 13 fame. I highly recommend the book and app as I use it at the gym, jogging plus traveling to and from work. It is simple and intuitive. Plus you purchase books in the app. A big plus over some other apps.

Library on the Go!. This is a great little app with lots of titles to choose from. I listened to Poirot’s Early Cases and I was impressed with the clarity of sound and how easy the app is to use. I haven’t experienced any glitches or skipping during playback unlike in some other audio book apps. I’m a very happy customer! Download the app, sign up and choose a book. Then let your ears be delighted.

Could use some refinement of position control. There are two ways to control your position; skip 30seconds or drag the slider. Unfortunately the slider controls your position in the whole book not just the chapter. So a slight movement on the slider for a 14hr book moves you drastically. If you find you’ve left the book playing and have missed some of the book it is difficult to find your place again with either 30second movements or huge slider movements. It would be better if each chapter had a positional slider so that your adjustment options weren’t just MASSIVE or TINY

Makes commuting brilliant!. I love self help and development books however find it hard to "make the time" after a long day. I found audiobooks and haven't looked back. I listen when I'm commuting and now get to be inspired daily. Best of all I don't have to try and "make/find" the time anymore. Really easy to use app and lots of great titles to chose from. Highly recommend 'The Big Leap' if you like self development and haven't read yet :)

Audiobooks review. I recently signed up to Audiobooks. I'd been deliberating for a while about the necessity when I have a Kindle and read for hours. But oh how I wished I'd signed up earlier. It's a whole new wonderful world. Now my hourly drive to work is bliss. I don't need to stop 'reading' my favourite book when I leave the house anymore, I can take it anywhere. It's amazing! If you are deliberating like I was... Just do it! You'll be glad you did!

Love this app!. Recently downloaded audiobooks and it has been a dream! Simple and easy to use. A great alternative to listening to music when out for my daily walks or commuting to and from work! I have been listening to Give Them Lala by Lala Kent which I highly recommend. Can’t wait to listen to my next book!

Best audio book app out!!!. I’ve used many audio books apps on the App Store and I find this one the easiest to use and has one of best audio book and podcast catalogues. the apps look and design is great and functional and I’ve been enjoying my latest download Recovery of the inner child by Lucia Capacchione. Looking forward to listening to more book in the future.

Love this!. Great and very easy to use app that I’ve been utilising on my commute to work from my iPhone. I’ve always been a book reader but I’m now a convert to audiobooks. Started with the audiobook ‘The Subtle Art of Giving a F’ by Mark Manson, and I’m just really enjoying the whole process of listening to an audiobook rather than reading a physical book. The voice narration is really engaging and easy to listen to. With plenty of titles to choose from, I’m looking forward to listening the next audiobooks on my list!

Excellent alternative to other apps. I’ve been a long time listener of audiobooks, however I wanted to give a platform that wasn’t putting money in the pockets of trillionaires a chance. I love the flexibility and freedom that audiobooks give – I love my physical books, however I’ve been devouring books much more easily listening to them. I put them on while I’m taking walks, cooking, showering, doing work and it’s so much more convenient, versatile and more educational than listening music. I feel like I’m getting a lot of value out of using my time to absorb new ideas and books. So far Audiobooks is great, I love the feature of bookmarking with notes and the UI is very intuitive and visually pleasant. The library of titles also seems to be current, I haven’t had difficulty finding the books I’ve wanted.

Definitely recommend. Very easy to navigate compare to some of the other apps and provides what is promised by adds. It has a very wide selection of audiobooks and doesn’t cost a lot. I really enjoy audiobooks as I am not a fast reader an need a lot of free time (which I don’t have much of) to get through a whole book, therefor audiobook are great to listen to while walking, cleaning, cooking, gardening or travelling. Also I don’t have to carry around a book and possible ruin it while travelling.

So far, so good!. While I’ve only listened to one book so far, I don’t have any complaints. I was assuming that it would be like audible but with a much smaller library to choose from but I e found the titles of lots of books on here that I was assuming they wouldn’t have. I believe you also get two credits a month rather than the one that audible gives you. Can’t go wrong really!

Good app. I got this app specifically to listen to a particular book and it works perfectly and integrates with my car Bluetooth well. I struggled to find a “purchase” button on the book I wanted. I must have searched for 10 minutes on how to get more than a preview, and I didn’t want or need to download (happy to stream) it because I have heaps of mobile data. Eventually I gave up and decided to click “download” which I thought was a preview. But it was the whole thing. Ok!

Amazing selection. I tried a number of other audio book apps but absolutely love the fact that there is only a monthly subscription and you can receive more than one book - no doubling up on fees and charges!! They also have an amazing selection of books and I love the recommended reading section and the ability to take notes at points in time while I’m listening!

Beware monthly fees apply after 30 day trial. Signed up for audiobooks, thought it was a free forever app, after 30 days they started billing my account! 6 months later I check my credit card statement and they have been billing me for app without notification. Apparently they had been sending me monthly statements to my email but I didn’t receive any. When I contacted audiobooks each time there was no apologies for miss understandings. Not impressed with costumer service at all and the apps audio was to fast for me I couldn’t slow it down enough to take in the books I was listening too. I actually feel violated.

Awesome app. At my work i have the possibility to listen to books as i work by myself, i was So happy when i found about audiobooks, it has so many books that i couldn’t find in other apps and it is much more affordable. The only thing is the app could be a little more user friendly, there’s no way to make payment changes without going to the desktop version. Other than that, i’m super happy!

Beware free trial. Signed up and cancelled right away. Noticed that the book I chose wasn’t showing. Clicked reactivate (assuming that meant trial as that’s all I had signed up for). Was immediately charged $23. Will warn fellow book lovers about this. Wanted to try out their app before committing.

Love this App!. I love Audiobooks as it allows me to listen to my favourite books while performing my daily routine activities such as when going for my daily walks or while driving. Also, they have a great selection of titles to choose from.

Child’s play. First book and found the app very easy to use. Will listen to many more. Good library to chose from

Rude. Started free trial then charged me at the end of the trial without my consent

Great selection. This app has a great selection of books! Love it! It could be slightly user friendly, I found it hard to narrow search results the way I wanted but overall a great app!

App is amazing - lots of books to choose from. I love this app highly recommend. My first book was The Purpose Principles by Jake Ducey. Really inspiring book.

Not worth it!. I have used this app for years but I am very dissatisfied with it. 15$ a month no matter what- and then your credits expire! I think that is technically illegal; at least in Canada it is no longer above board to have gift cards expire and that is essentially the same thing. I have 100s of titles and yet I have can’t organize and file them in the app?!? If you want to find an old title you have to scroll through one by one. I use many other audiobook apps and in terms of keeping your book mark, this is the worst one. This app forgets where you were almost daily. Audiobooks.com- fix your **^# app!

Affordable. I recently started listening to audio books after being recommended World War Z and not having time to sit down a read it. I checked out audible but it was very pricy and only gave me one free credit while Audiobooks.com gave me two and gave me a month free trial.

Me like. I like it :)

Hate it. Horrible, u have to get full version to even listen to one book past 7 chapters

Highly recommend. Easy set up/ download. awesome selections too :)

Things no one else can teach us. Dope.

Love. Highly recommend

Great variety. There is a large variety of books and the sleep option is great for listening to podcasts as I go to sleep.

10/10. Love listening to audio books! Just got the app and so far so good! Currently listening to stolen by Lucy Christopher

Poor Subscription Model. Decent App for listening to audiobooks if you don’t want to support Amazon. Unfortunately, it suffers from a subscription model that cannot be altered from the app and must be cancelled, or paused, from a web browser. Pause options are limited, and cancellation immediately loses your membership privileges, even if you have paid for a month already. They are absolutely employing scare tactics to make subscribers stay, and hoping we will forget to cancel by waiting till the end of the payment period to maintain the usage rights we have already paid for. Would have been 4 stars if it wasn’t for this greasy practice.

Charges you for free trial. Went to try out the service and signed up for their free trial. I was charged $20 just to make sure your card is real? Seems so sketchy. I immediately cancelled. We’ll see how long it takes to refund me. I’d rather go with audible for $15 and get better quality books.

Love this app. So much better than audible I’m my opinion! I love this app and I love how I can listen to it at a faster speed then normal absolutely amazing and the Customer service team is a dream to work with.

App works really well!. Our only wish is that it would be great to leave a bookmark without having to leave a note'

Great selection. I use another audiobook app that has unlimited books but I keep this one for the many rare titles I want to listen to but that other apps don’t carry. Love the selection! Keep up the good work!

Unclear pricing and hard to use. App is really hard to navigate. They make it super difficult to cancel and the pricing is unclear.

Great app!. I started reading a book that I couldn’t physically get into (kept dozing off and noticed I wasn’t paying attention to what I was reading), so I thought I’d try audiobooks; it was great! I ended up getting through the entire book within two weeks and I was much more engaged.

Great even if a little pricy. I love this app! Easy to use and never crashes. I really appreciate being able to buy the books with a single click, unlike other apps where you have to buy the books online first. The only downside is the relatively high price 19CAD/book, as some books are not worth that much (eg. 30min story vs 20h novel). So i use it along with free audio books from the national library. I also wish they had a wider collection of recent novels in French, Spanish and German, but still they have some decent ones. I totally recommend it!

Great app. Awesome app for those who want to listen to audiobooks without giving more money to Amazon!

Poor quality app. Buffering on a downloaded book? Keeps pausing randomly. Would not recommend

I love this app. This is a wonderful resource for me. I use other audio and E book apps also. I have five apps for books and this is in my too two. I do not watch tv only videos online and radio and books for me.. that is my entertainment. I like it this way because it simplifies my life. So I really love this app it is very user friendly and has some great reasources of books that you cant necessarily always find on the bigger company owned audio book apps and that is really great ! 😊

Meh. It’s got the usual things like speed selector, chapter selector and even the ability to take notes however it constantly buffers and means I only get a little bit of reading time before its will pause every other second (you manually will have to unpause it )

Love this app. I love this app. I love to read but sometimes it’s nice to just listen. They have a huge selection of books which I absolutely love as well!

Wow amazing!!! Many many many choices of Audio books :). So glad I chose Audible I tried a couple of other apps and the selection we not as good. Definitely glad I switched!!!

Great selection. This is the best audio book app I’ve tried. Easy to use, great selection and a breeze even for my grandparents! I won’t be using any other app!

Essentially thieves. This app recently stopped allowing access to my purchases unless I am online. I work remotely so they essentially stole books I paid for.

Good!. I’ve just started my first book, and the playback features, and the bookmark/notes features are great. Looking forward to more new books! Would have reviewed it higher, but I found the navigation to and from the menu a bit non-intuitive, but I’m getting used to it.

Terrible. Literally does not have the book I need

Good app. I enjoyed using the app. Good selection of books. I love the option of speeding up so i can get through more books!

Better than audible. Great app, great collection, love their credit system, love their note system. Listened to Oxygen Advantage.

Great app for audiobooks. Purchased Ryan Holidays latest book Discipline is Destiny and have loved it so far. Highly recommend the book and the app itself. App is very user friendly.

Works well. I downloaded the app few days ago and I have been listening to Power from Jeffrey Pfeffer. It works well.

Not so easy to use. I have been fighting with this ap for a week. It seems to only download one book at a time, and I often listen to two or more stories, depending on what I am doing. Once I have finished a book, it seems to lwave my library. It is not at all intuitive or responsive.

Awesome. Im listening to Woman Code and I truly love it! I love to app too amazing! Thank you! ❤️

Amazing app. Love how easy it is to use and the selection of audiobooks!

How. Idk how to make a account it only says sign in

Fraud. After I cancelled my account I was charged and yet I was charged 21. 83. I tried to log into my account and they have no record of it. Their customer service is the pitch and compared to audible.CA their book selection is terrible.

Glitching. Has been good for over a year and with the latest update I can barely listen to 30 min sometimes without it glitching and just stopping. If this isn’t fixed soon I will be changing to a different service

Ride of a lifetime - Bob Iger. Was surprised at how much I loved this book, it gives you the illusion of being a “fly on the wall”. A good combination of a personal journey as well as a behind the scenes look into the entertainment industry along with some practical lessons in leadership. I find the app less confusing to use compared to audible.

Love this app!. Of all the audio book subscription services, this one is by far the best in my opinion. The user interface is very easy to navigate.

There’s no landscape mode for iPad. Please add landscape mode for iPad. It’s very inconvenient to switch between your app and other apps while listening audio books.

Poor Recordings. Does this company even have the rights to the audiobooks they post? The quality of the books are extremely poor. I hope the publishers of the books learn of this. How bad? I’ve gone to the expense of getting the same books on another app. The response from Audiobooks.com has been along the lines of “sorry, there’s nothing we can do. Here, have a credit.” The recordings are jittery. Some have long gaps in them. It’s like they’ve captured the files off of a poor CD play and then post them without checking for errors. Finial word: don’t use Audiobooks.com!

Annoying. I like the books but I hate the app and all the chores you have to do to get enough points to read. Just awful.

Amazing audiobook app!. Love this app! Quality is great and there’s a huge selection of audiobooks to choose from! I really enjoyed the book “Moscow Rules”. Definitely would recommend.

5 AM Club. Very inspiring book and a great app to listen to it!

Love my audiobooks. I love listening to audiobooks. If you’ve never listened to one, you’re missing out. It’s not just about someone reading to you. Today, audiobooks are a true vocal performance of the novel. The readers will often be in character. More and more, there are multiple readers, to give it even more of a performance feel. This App fills a void. There are just not enough audiobook subscription apps out there. Plenty of options for unlimited books, but not much for audiobooks. So, finding another service to use is extremely helpful and I’m glad I found this one. It’s well laid out. It’s easy to find what you’re looking for. It’s even easier to listen. Plus, if you do need an extra credit, the app makes it super easy to get one. For higher-priced audiobooks, this is an amazing value and worth every cent. You lose value on books that are under the monthly cost. But, you gain on ones that cost more Plus, getting the extra two bonus books each month is awesome. This is how you find books that you might not otherwise read. The selection is great in that list each month. I can’t recommend this one enough.

Decent and functional. The app is functional and easy to use and the audiobook selection is decent. I listened to The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu and found the controls easy to use and playback smooth. A couple of things that can be improved: 1) the buttons for various functions appear too small and too many on the same page, adding a bit of clutter to the appearance and making it harder to use on a smaller screen; 2) The titles for the tracks of the audiobook were missing. Instead of "Year 205 Crisi Era" or something descriptive they just appear as "Track 49", which makes it harder to navigate through the chapters. The latter should be easy to fix and would make the experience of using hte app much better.

Straightforward and simple. I listened to a book I’d read years ago, and I was glad to be able to revisit it with an app that made that process so easy. Audiobooks is very simple and user-friendly, and my favorite part is that it allows you to keep listening in the background if you leave the app or lock your phone (which was ideal for multitasking). There’s a free trial that includes a free audiobook so you can make sure it’s right for you, so there’s really no reason not to download it. My only complaint — and it’s a minor one, more of a suggestion for improvement than anything else — was that the only way to skip around the audiobook was by time stamp, I couldn’t select a chapter to start at or anything like that. But that’s not really necessary, it just could’ve been nice.

Audiobook. I was pleasantly surprised with this app! It's nice to have options when it comes to listening to audiobooks, I feel like there aren't many reputable ones besides audible. My only complaint is that the search option isn't as simple and the categories aren't as helpful/specific. I found audiobooks online by accident when searching for a specific book-but then finding that book within the app was very difficult. I found the book I wanted (that was advertised on the website) only after searching within the app endlessly...failing to find it and then using my credit on another book. The search feature should lead you right to it! I wasn't spelling the title or the author incorrectly and I searched both multiple times. Right now I'm reading the power of habit by Charles duhigg.

Super easy, great audiobook app. I really like the ease of use and look of the app. It makes it fun to use and is pretty clear on where to find things if needed. The only downside, and they’re minor, are the rewind and pause interruption. The rewind is 30 seconds which I thought I would like, but I think it’s a little too long. Sometimes it takes me further back than I anticipated and I get lost. The other is that if a call, text, notification comes while the audiobook is narrating, it doesn’t stop exactly at that point-it goes about a second or two longer, which also gets confusing. That may be my car’s Bluetooth but I think it’s the app since I haven’t had that issue with other audiobook apps. All in all a good app for listening to an array of books.

You will never know!. My brother is blind and a paraplegic from a MVA 49 years ago. He always has used books on tape that he would receive to/from the State Commission for the Blind. With that being said there library of books was limited. He also often at times was waiting days/weeks for new books because of the mail system. He currently is in Intensive care so I downloaded your app so he could continue to listen to books. He and I both were amazed at the number of audio books available! The ease of use of the app on my phone was great. We ordered him a Kindle Fire with Alexa so he can use the app independently by himself. Thank you very much on behalf of my brother! Most people don’t realize the “need” for audio books when it applies to a person who has lost their sights. Greatly appreciative, Renae Ward and John Curnutt

Great Content. I’ve been using other audio listening for quite some time. Recently I discovered my other providers wasn’t carrying a new book that I’ve been looking forward to. Audiobooks had it and as I’ve since found out Carrie’s a ton of other titles I’ve never known I wanted to listen to. My recommended books list has exploded and I’m super pumped to dive into them all. I’m currently on a bicycle ride from Canada to Mexico to raise awareness for mental health. Since downloading the Audiobooks app I’ve listened almost consistently everyday for the last 3 weeks. As a side note, Restoration Ride is the name of our journey and mental health documentary to be released when the ride is over. I will make note to mention Audiobooks in the credits for helping keep me motivated and entertained on road.

Free trial only gives one free credit not three.. They claim you will get three free credits during the free trial, which is not true. I do like the app, and planned to continue anyway, but after the first free credit, they make you pay for the membership. Then you get an additional free credit. And the last one is the loophole that you have to leave them a review in order to get your last one. So technically yes you do get three, but not three during the free trial so it’s a bit misleading. However as you can tell I will be getting my three LOL. It is a good app otherwise, very few bugs, and lots of free books in selection, as well asPopular ones that are worth the price.I would give it five stars just for the app, but I don’t like misleading and deceptive companies.

Pretty good app. I always get my audiobooks through my library app, and I love it and am used to waiting for holds at no cost. But I wanted to listen to a particular book recently and the copy my library had was expired! So I went on a hunt for a cheap online copy or a free trial to try. I’ve never understood the one book a month for $15 Audible thing. I found this site and ended up buying the book I wanted for like $4. After browsing through their catalog for the rest of the series, I found that low price was a rare find if you’re looking for a specific book, but I still appreciate that there are two books a month on this app for what I believe is the same price as audible. The app itself is a little clunky, but it’s not bad.

Decent audiobook platform. Full disclosure, I am leaving this review because audiobooks emailed me to offer a free credit in exchange for a review. This is still an honest review however. The interface is a little different than Audible, if you're familiar with theirs, but it's still pretty intuitive and user-friendly. I think the audio quality over regular apple plug-in earbuds is comparable to other audiobooks I've listened to on itunes and audible. It's not phenomenal but everything is clearly understandable. I have listened by proxy to a friend's download of A Game of Thrones and some of the sound was a bit crackly but nothing was difficult to understand or unpleasant. The book I am listening to is Stieg Larsson's The Girl in the Spider's Web and I have not experienced the same crackle, which is the sound quality I deducted a star for. Otherwise this is a pretty good app!

So far so good. No issues so far reading Shadows of Self by Brandon Sanderson. A lot of the complaints I read in other reviews seem to have been resolved. I had no problem searching for books by a partial title or by author name. And I can toggle between looking at a progress bar for each track and the entire book which I enjoy. Yes, it would be nice to see the chapter titles, but isn’t a big problem for me. I think my favorite feature is the “follow” option. Just click and you can choose between following the author, narrator, or series! I really like the narrator for the Mistborn series and wouldn’t mind looking into the other books he’s narrated and getting notifications if he reads something new.

The Socialist Manifesto: The case for radical politics in an era of extreme any inequality. I was skeptical at first. It didn’t take to long before he started explaining and giving clear examples of how governments would be participating with the people to assure a decent work place helping to insure a strong middle class. Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s I recall how we actually had a working cooperative along side of corporations. It made for very pleasant work environment. With the slow erosion of worker rights and benefits the moral natural dissolves. It’s only the ones who never realized what we used to have who don’t question anything anymore for fear of removal. Many Corporations today operate as bullies. That’s why the have monopolized and controlled Congress.

Good app, but needs a little work. I am listening to Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. I read the series about 6 months ago, but I like going back and listening because I’m finding that I pick up on a lot of details I didn’t get while reading. The app works well. Though I do think the search engine could use some work. You have to be very specific. It’s also very difficult to figure out where you left off if you fall asleep while listening, but I do like the sleep timer option. There was another series I read years ago the K.A. Linde called Ascension. I wasn’t able to find it on here, so that was disappointing. But I think there is plenty other audiobooks to keep me busy. I’ve never used any other audiobook subscription so I don’t have anything to compare to. Overall, I think it works well for what I need.

Great selection but annoying prompt. Good app, but the warning pop up every time you disconnect from WiFi and can only get full functionality being connected to the network is very frustrating. Every time I disconnect from WiFi while listening to an audiobook, it pops up this warning that I am prompted to close before I can pause, rewind, etc. It does this each time and doesn’t go away, just stacking on top of each other rather than showing only once. So if I disconnect 5 times during a span of time until I look at the screen again to pause or whatever, I have to hit ‘OK’ 5 times in a row to close all the prompts. Super annoying, and hope this gets fixed. Perhaps just a pop up banner on top that serves as notification that doesn’t interfere with the rest of the app buttons and goes away on its own without a prompt.

Good selection and easy functionality. So far I have not had any problems with the app. It is easy to use and I like that I can rewind 30 seconds by just pressing a button. I listen a lot while driving, so sometimes I miss things. This function comes in handy. I also like the sleep timer because it is sooo easy for me to fall asleep while listening in bed! This keeps me having to find my place the next day to a minimum. I have not found a driving mode that simplifies what shows on the screen, and I think that would be nice. I am listening to the Anita Blake series on the app. I’m currently on book 6: The Killing Dance. I read one review that said he/she has connection problems while driving even though the book is downloaded and not streamed. I have yet to have playback or connection problems since downloading books, even while driving the country roads of Arkansas.

Solid app. I’ve mostly borrowed audiobooks through my library before this, but The Poppy War wasn’t available. While searching around for options I just so happened to see the deal for 2 free credits for this app. It has a larger selection than I expected which I can appreciate, but I do think there are some aspects that could be improved. 1. An option to forward/rewind by 10 or 15 seconds instead of only 30. 2. Sometimes i’d start listening and the playback speed would actually be playing at the default instead of where I set it to (ex. playing at 1x speed when it says 1.6). This was usually fixed when i manually adjusted it, but slightly annoying all the same. All in all, a solid app.

Good but room for improvement. Using the free trial, I downloaded A Court of Mist and Fury. The book downloaded fine (although it seemed a bit slow downloading), the audio played smoothly, and I like the option to change the speed of the audio. I think this app pretty much functions as it should, but there are a few tweaks I would suggest. One, I wish there was a setting to pick the playback time when you return to your audiobook after pausing or stopping for a while; for example, I’d like to have the audiobook rewind 15 seconds when I restart from where I left off. Also, I wish the time remaining on the book would reflect the listening speed; when I increase the speed of the audio, the time remaining on the book stays the same, but I would expect it to shorten. As others have previously mentioned, the audio book should be broken up by chapters that mirror the book.

Teen Tested, Granny Approved. If you are like me, you love books but don’t always have the chance to sit down and read amidst the busyness of everyday life. With Audiobooks, you can listen on the go or whenever you have time (I’ve been listening to Call Me By Your Name in my car on the way to work, while I’m thrift shopping at Goodwill, and at night while I’m winding down in bed). The app is designed so that even the technologically challenged can maneuver it. In fact, I think I’m gonna download Audiobooks on my grandma’s phone to test this point... Anyways, 10/10 would recommend this app, it saves your bookmarks for you PLUS you get a free credit to download a book of your choice when you sign up (hence how I am able to listen to Armie Hammer’s dulcet tones read my favorite novel over and over... and over!)

I like the VIP rewards. I’ve always used another audio book app but recently found this app while looking for other audio resources, and decided to try it. So far it’s a winner. The price is average but I like that I get the VIP books because that will encourage me to choose titles I might otherwise skip over. I think this app has more sound clarity than other apps I’ve tried. I wish you could see the chapter progress rather than book progress while listening, but that’s my personal preference. Sometimes the headings on the app screen are a little confusing. So I could be listening to my book but the heading says VIP Books, even though what I’m listening to is not a VIP selection. It’s really just showing me the last menu I was in, but seems odd since there’s a menu toggle button. A keeper overall though.

Easy to use & great way to “read books”. The app is easy to navigate and set up so you get the best recommendations on your next book. It also allows you to listen to your book while doing other things such as walking the digs, cleaning the house, driving in the car, etc. I enjoy previewing books before buying as well as searching for the next one by seeing the reviews others have posted. It also recommend books based on what you have listed as your favorite genres but also on what books you have in your library. It also has sections for books on sale, best sellers, highly recommend, etc. really enjoy this app more than other audio book apps I have on my phone.

Only one problem for a professional driver. I’m an over the road truck driver and I like to listen to audio books as I travel down the highway. I had high hopes for this app but I’ve ran into a serious safety problem with it. While I’m driving and try to start or pause a audio book, I get a pop up message that my web connection is not strong enough to be able to stream the book, it says I need to download it. Then at the bottom there is a button to push labeled OK. I have already down loaded the book to my iPhone. However, even though I press the OK the message just pops back up preventing my ability to start or pause a book. I try multiple times but no luck. This is a very serious safety problem as I am paying to much attention to the problem with the app when I should be watching how I’m driving. As much as I wanted this to work, I am going to have to cancel my subscription, unless a solution can be found. I hope this review will be read by someone that can offer one.

Good enough for a month of my life spent. I have been listening to this app on my phone for a few years now and racked up over a months worth of listening time. The convenience of the app while driving or the ability to download the book and listen to on an airplane is great. The note features are nice if you like a particular part of the book or want to remember a quote later. I mainly listen to fantasy and larger than life stories and audiobooks has served me well. Especially the Wheel of Time series, the co-voices of that series are both fantastic to listen to and the trade off keeps things fresh. You can’t beat the convenience of being able to multitask and still enjoy your favorite books when life becomes too busy for the physical alternative.

It’s ok. I did a trial of this app/audiobook platform as I’m currently in a binge reading session of Janet Evanovich’s books and I’m not the only one as I have a 6 month wait list on Overdrive. You get two credits monthly which can break down to about $8/book. It’s doable. Finding books and adding is pretty smooth, categories are well organized and the search function worked (shouldn’t be an issue but I’ve been surprised before). Aesthetically I’m not crazy over the app. I also try to adjust speed of my narrator and found that more difficult than I wanted, as was rewinding a little bit to replay what I missed when I was interrupted with “where’s the milk and other important questions that only come when Mom has her EarPods in.” But it’s still doable.

Easy to use and great choices of books. I only recently signed up through audiobooks and love the large choices of books they have available as well as the different means that you can listen to them. Other audiobook apps only allow you to listen to a set number of books associated with your membership. Audiobooks does so free with the membership but in addition allows you to purchase additional books, a flexibility I really like. Overall the app is incredibly easy to maneuver, offers you lots of flexibility, have an amazing choice of books to offer in different languages, have some free books available that are a treat and the audio quality is much better than what I have gotten from other apps and stores. Of the different apps for audiobooks I have tried I so far enjoy this one the most!

Audio books App. I love this app. I have over 75 audio books in my library right now. I pay for the monthly audio book club as well as use my points to follow a series until the end. This app is very user friendly and the customer service is superb against any other audio book app I have used. I left audible and I’m happy I did. Honestly loving this app and glad I made the switch. The night time timer is amazing for me because I always fall asleep while listening to my books. It helps my mind focus on something other then my own anxious thoughts. Definitely a long time user and will continue to use. Thank you for this app!

My kids love the App. My two daughters attend different schools. The two schools are not close to each other and my home. We used to get bored on the way to school or home until I found the App. There are many interesting children’s audiobooks on the App. We are listening to the second book of The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns. The quality of the audiobook is very high and the App is also easy to use. My kids never complain about the traffic or weather any more because the story has fully got their attention. I learned from other reviewers’ comments that the audiobook downloaded won’t get expired even if the membership is stopped. It is good news to me because I will pay a month only when my kids are ready to listen to a new book. I highly recommend the App to people who need commute.

Solid App. This app is great and has lots of good functionality. It has settings that let you dial in to the way you like to view your user interface while listening and also the time you jump backwards and forwards. It also has a huge selection of books and has any book I plan on reading or have read in the past. The one thing I wish this app had is a “While Driving View” similar to the one that Audible offers. Because I primarily listen in the car, I would love to not have to look down at the phone to pause and rewind/move forward several seconds because the buttons are so small on the current app and instead have several large buttons that I can tap without needing to look to accomplish these basic listening functions - if they incorporated this, I would give them 5 stars!

Audiobooks App is functional and does what it’s supposed to. The first book I listened to on this App was the new Dan Brown book, Origin. As a frequent user of audiobooks I found this app to be perfectly fine. A few suggestions: there seems to be an occasional glitch with the skip back and skip forward button that could be fixed. It would be nice to a time and date stamp for when bookmarks are created. Finally, the app occasionally asked me which of two recent bookmarks I wanted to start at when opening the app. But actually I just wanted to resume where I had left off and not at a specific bookmark. Sometimes the “pick up where I left off” feature wasn’t exactly smooth. The book itself was pretty good. A tad simplistic for a Brown book. But that’s not a bad thing because I didn’t need anything too complex right now anyway.

Great interface. I’ve been testing out this app and Audible. I like how this one allows you to see the series that a particular book is part of and even follow that series, so you know if a new entry is released in the future. Also, the “book clubs” seem like an awesome feature. You can spend your credit to join one of these and gain access to all the books in that club (usually all part of a specific genre) for that month. So your one credit allows you to binge as much as you want for the month, as long as you like the books in that particular book club. Altogether, I prefer this app and this subscription service compared to the others I’ve tested. Excellent selection, good value, better interface.

Amazing app. I have recently found myself with a overwhelming amount of inspiration to find self improvement and self reflection in my life. My first stop in this journey is productivity and knowledge. I found that not only can I use this app to multitask by engaging my brain while doing usually mindless tasks while listening to books that I enjoy learning from. Whether that be a self help book or self indulging book. I became such a fan of this app because it is easy and accessible and has any book you could ever want to get your hands on. It is probably the best use of my time and I highly recommend everyone to use this app especially if you are a busy person as it allows your free time to be productive and you don’t have to sit and take an hour to read a book when instead you can listen to it.

Good app for audio books. I’m currently listening to The Blue Bistro on audiobooks. This is a good app to choose for audio books. The book selection is good and the app is easy to use and navigate. You can also purchase your audio books directly from the app, which you can't do in the audible app. Takes a lot of the hassle out of the process. My only negative feedback is that when I connect my phone in my car, the app takes a backseat to my music. I could be playing a book through my headphones, then go to connect to my car, and then book pauses and my music plays. Happens every time I plug into my car! This doesn't happen with the audible app. It's not a huge deal, but it is annoying.

App could use some work but great service. After a couple of weeks exploring the app I’ve noticed some clunky features. I’m listening a lengthy biography on George Washington by Ron Chernow and find the track selection to be annoying since you can’t select specific chapters. Also the layout of My Library seems a little cumbersome since the books are big tiles and not in the form of a list - I can see this getting annoying as my collection grows. The VIP selection also isn’t very large. That being said I find the actual service to fit my needs well and I think it’s a fair price for the content. There’s also a decent selection of free audiobooks to choose from and the member deals and audiobook clubs are great features.

A simple, but sleek app. My job has me on the road for over 25 hours a week. Nothing is more writhing then sitting in traffic and listening to ten minutes of music and twenty of commercials. I needed more substance so I turned to audiobooks. I just finished listening to The Gathering Storm, the 12th book in the series of The Wheel of time. It was a beautiful work of art that was incomplete by the passing of the original author Robert Jordan. Brandon Sanderson stepped up and did the book and the series justice. The readers, Michael Kramer and Kate Redding, are fabulous and convey the emotions of the characters and the author’s mind’s eye. Without this app I would be lost in a sea of traffic, with it I have some solace. Download this app, which is incredibly easy to use and superior to anything else on the market, travel to other worlds, and experience new perspectives.

Good audiobook service!. I’ve tried multiple different audiobook apps and I actually really like this one! I really enjoy the fact I can make notes after each chapter (track). I also like that I can set a timer for the audio book to automatically stop playing, good for when you’re listening right before going to sleep. I like the speed increment option as well bc it lets me choose, for example- 1.75x, I like how it’s more specific. I also appreciate that I can choose for the playing page to show the time left per track or the time left on the entire book. Overall I really like the small details in this app, and the audio is as it should be, clear and without any glitches. The first book I listened to was The Atlas Six, enjoyed it!

Pretty good. I’ve been reading the Witcher books through this app, and I’ve been fairly satisfied with it. Sound quality is decent, there’s never a book they don’t have, and the interface is fairly user friendly. I do wish they had a “car mode” that simplified the amount of buttons and made it bigger, like a lot of the music streaming services use these days. The app in general seems a little busy to me, there’s a bunch of menu options on the side that I never use, and make it more confusing to find what you want. My only complaint is how they use tracks instead of chapters. I use the app to go to sleep sometimes, and it’s hard to back it up and find my place again. Overall, a pretty good app, but it could use a few changes.

Lovely app!. I love reading, but I don’t always have the time to sit back and turn pages. That’s where audiobooks come in. I can listen while working, doing chores, exercising—there’s so many opportunities to tune into a good book! I’m trying out the free trial for this app and loving it so far. The audio is crisp and clear. I could make out every word even while doing dishes. I love that it gives you the options to speed up the tracks. Narrators sometimes are too slow, y’know? Most surprising, this is the best selection of audiobooks I’ve found outside of Audible. I’m currently listening to A Gathering of Shadows by V. E. Schwab, which I was shocked to find available. The only thing I would change about this service is to add more books, but they really do have a great selection as is. Give the free trial a whirl. It’s worth it.

Better than expected. I was searching for an app that I would love since I have just recently started to listen to audiobooks and so far I really enjoy it. I love how you can preview the book before spending your credit on it, I love how the authors are the ones reading it (not sure if that’s true for all of the audiobooks though), and how easy the app is to navigate. I have just started listening to Eat A Peach by David Chang and it’s been surprisingly enjoyable. I work at home, so I originally thought I would be listening to it just while working, but lately, I’ve found myself turned it on while in the car, running, or just doing stuff around the house. I’ve had a really good experience so far.

Good but could be even better!. I love being able to listen to my book while either in the car or doing things around the house. I just finished reading The Heart if Betrayal and I never had any issues with it. I thought this app worked very well. However, the one feature I wish it had was being able to see what chapter/page you are on. I like to switch between reading and listening to my book but it was very hard to know how far I’d gotten when listening. Lastly, I wish there was an app where you could either pay a monthly fee to listen to anything, or just buy each book individually instead of having to pay a monthly fee and then also buy each book on top of it. Overall a good app and a convenient way to listen to my books:)

Life saver. Okay, that might be a bit extreme. My life wasn’t at stake or anything, though I’d be interested in what kind of choices would bring me to a situation where an app would change the course of fate and spare me from such demise... Anyway, this app really has been wonderful. I sit at a desk all day, so I try to get out and about to stretch my legs when I can. I used to manage about a ten minute walk at lunch before getting bored. Now, I just put on my headphones and cruise, and am spending my whole lunch hour walking to and around a nearby park. I get some exercise, which has helped me make other healthy choices, AND I’m totally breezing through my reading goals and books that I’ve wanted to read for years. Win win win. This app has a great selection, better than my local library (which is how I found the app to begin with). I’ve only listened to a couple books so far. Right now I’m on Theft of Swords by Michael Sullivan. But the quality is good and I haven’t had any trouble with the app itself. My one critique is that there doesn’t seem to be any navigation tools for either figuring out where I am in the book, or skipping back and forth between chapters. Other than that, no issues!

Astonishingly Bad User Interface. I don’t normally rate apps, but this one has to be called out. The user experience is just atrocious. I think the biggest issue is nothing is ever explained. I couldn’t figure out why my books would randomly glitch and then stop playing. It turns out it was streaming the audio. Over cellular data. That I pay for. Once I figured that out, I had to figure out how to not do that, which was no easy task. I just bought a second book with my credits. I think. I sort of expected the book to show how many credits it cost alongside my credits remaining. Instead I had to press the button to find out. Once I knew how many credits it was, I cancelled to go find my balance. I gave up on that and clicked the download button again and hoped for the best. The button no longer worked. After relaunching the app, I went to find the book again. The hamburger menu on the right opens a menu on the left (lolwut). From there I still could not find my balance. I downloaded my book and tried to play it. It said I couldn’t since I shut off streaming. Not sure how to download it since the thumbnail of the new book doesn’t look like the other book and there’s no download button. I finally got audio to start playing. I’m not sure if that means the whole book is downloaded or not but I guess I’ll find out when I leave the house. Wish me luck!

Excellent for long drives.. I just listened to The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands. It’s the 1st of a 3 book series (so far). I actually listened to the 3rd book which is The Assassin’s Curse when on a 10 hour ride with a friend. I asked him how we were listening to it and he told me it was an app called “Audiobooks’. I drive 5 times a year to S. Florida from N. Georgia. Now that’s 10 Times back and forth. I immediately downloaded “Audiobooks” app and started listening to the 1st book of the series. I’m hooked! I can’t wait to get the 2nd book of the series. (I might not wait till the next trip!). Excellent book and author (Kevin Sands) of course the app is great. Easy to get around. You can download or stream. I prefer to download on WIFI so I have it in my iPhone.

The app.. I have had this app for a long while and I like it very much.. love the book clubs.. some things though need work.. if I try to skip around in my book too many times the app shuts down on me and I have to reboot to get it back on. How I know it has to be the app is because I also listen to other book apps and they don’t do this… I also have trouble navigating through the book clubs when I want to go from the book I was listening too back to the book list it’s too many steps to get back…. But I do always come back to this app because they do have several things others don’t have.. they are also very good about refunding my credit when I picked a bad book and just can’t finish it… I just wish I could surf around through books with out it cutting off!!!

Easy to Navigate & Great Features. I really enjoy the layout of the Audiobooks player - like the ability to toggle between the track or the full book to find specific sections. Plus, you can add notes to bookmarks, which isn’t typical in most other audiobook apps. One of the other features I love is the Book Club option. Using a credit to access multiple books within my favorite genre, allowing me to explore new authors? Even though it’s a predetermined selection of books, it provides potentially new authors and stories that I may not have convenient access to - or I would have to wait until my next credit is available. I think the Book Club feature is fantastic! Definitely one of the easiest audiobooks apps to navigate/use.

Loving the trial so far!. I thoroughly researched audio book apps. I still technically have audible but wasn’t using it and wanted a better option for less. These apps are similar but I am only using this one now! Audiobooks is great for anyone who loves books and wants to learn but doesn’t have time to read as much as they’d like. This is definitely me and this app is great for these reasons! I often multi-task and now I can listen to books! I was about to buy more hard copy books but realized I already had many books I haven’t had time to read! Also, you can choose from many different voices (to read to you), alter speed of reading, and stop, pause, rewind, or fast forward! This is great because sometimes I lose focus or need to hear something again! I recommend if any of the above applies to you! NOTE: I have only used this for a few days and have only listened to one book. And I’m not sure if they’ll have all the books I want. However, via my research, this app seems to have the biggest selection of free and paid books. Again, comparable to Audible. At least sign up for the trial! You can cancel if you don’t like it.

Decent alternative. Navigating owned books is very cumbersome and is in desperate need of improvement. Selection of books is fine, it doesn’t have any exclusives like audible does. Browsing the app is suboptimal, doesn’t provide a comprehensive way to filter books by languages or books that are on sale (sometimes there are books on sale not listed in their deals section). The one time I talked to customer service they didn’t appear to be very interested in answering my questions, so in a word, unhelpful. There are basically no perks that accompany a normal subscription, VIP-selected books are not available upon cancelling subscription. I like it as an alternative but I don’t see too many users being comfortable with the compromises made to have a decent alternative to audible.

So far so good. I recently downloaded this app about a month ago. Most of the free books are classics but some are new. The narrators are hit and miss as far as what you like to listen to - I’m quite particular about my narrators as I get bored easily. So far only one male narrator has a boring monotone voice and one female narrator has an annoying pitchy voice, but those are the free books and their narrators do the work for free so I guess you get what you pay for! The rest haven’t been bad. Also, you get to search based on narrator which is awesome. It takes a while for me to get through a book so one “free” book a month with membership may not seem like much but to me it’s just fine. I haven’t had enough time to really review a ton of books, so once I do, I’ll come back and adjust for time passed! As of right now though, it’s great! Enjoy!

So far I’m enjoying it.... I’ve been using Overdrive for years and some of the books I’m just impatient in waiting to get from the library so I decided to try Audiobooks. The first book I listened to on the app was Where the Crawdads Sing. One thing I found particularly annoying, and realized other users are experiencing the same thing.... when you pause the book, close the app and reopen, the book is minutes behind where you’ve left off. I noticed it multiple times. And I’ve always downloaded the book, never listen to it off the network. So the way I’ve got around the issue is to pause the book, hit play, and pause again for the time to catch up to where you’re actually at in the book. Then when you go to restart, you’re at the same spot. Or screen shot it and manually adjust your time. The only annoyance I see so far!

Free trial. I have recently started my free trial and downloaded my 2 free books, not 3! The third free book is limited to one of their vip reward titles, not any book you choose. So I am writing this review to get a free credit to download my third book! I am currently listening to my first book - Island of the Mad by Laurie R King. In comparison to other audiobook apps, i find it lacking on several features so far. I can not go back to last played if I accidentally lose my place and there is also no chapter list in case I need to go back to something, just forward and backward buttons. The app will also just stop playing occasionally, I have had this happen multiple times. It does tie in to Waze if you use that for navigation, however if you use a different app, it does not pause playing while that app directs you. It does have a wide selection and the features it does have are easy to use. I will not continue this service past my free trial.

Solid, with great customer service.. I had a minor issue with the app--which turned out to be my fault!--and customer service was on it instantly. I appreciate that they make it easy to reach out right from the app. The app itself is fairly straightforward, with clear controls. Two quibbles: I wish there were more speed options; sometimes 1.5x is too slow and 2.0x is too fast, and there are plenty of times when 2.2x or even 2.5x would be desirable. And the main menu button appears on the right, but then the menu opens on the left, which isn't a real problem but feels mildly uncomfortable/disorienting! So far, I've listened to Dopamine Nation by Anna Lembke (which is decent) and The Craving Mind by Judson Brewer (which has some useful parts but is deeply flawed).

Skeptical but worth it. I was skeptical at first when starting off the free trial with the extra credits but I found my experience to be amazing and easy on this app! I immediately purchased two books from the heroes of Olympus series and I have to say the way this app works and organizes your books is really really nice I’m able to go through the series and have it all in one go so when I finish one book the next one on the list is there and ready to be read. I found my experience on this app to be much better than I expected and I’ve been able to manage it much easier than other apps. For sure will be continuing my subscription and so far have seen a pretty good selection.
