Stopped working correctly no response from developer. I started using the free version, liked it quite a bit went to the paid version and it was working fine for many months and then all of a sudden stopped taking transcriptions longer than one minute. It just give me an error. I contacted the developer twice via their email app and still not have heard back after several weeks. frustrated that is not working correctly and no one will respond to my request for help.

Works well, when it works. It does fine translating a couple of sentences, but I need something that’s going to allow me to dictate as I drive. The app seems to lose everything it’s recorded every time I change cellular towers — about every 5 minutes on the freeway. The translation is pretty good, but the app is useless to me.

Great app. Amazing dictation app that transcribes audio lectures in over 1 minute! (Just be sure to have your phone auto-lock on "never" so the screen stays active while dictating. Was using dragon dictation on iPhone for a year but this is so much better

Faster than notes or messages. I wanted an app to translate spoken word to text so I could record things I thought about while driving. Note pads were a distraction while driving and having to negotiate the message or note apps on my iPhone was also more distracting. This app gave me easy to access and precise control for instantly recording my thoughts. Even with heavy traffic noise.

Loosing text. I am loosing text If I do not save it and there is no way to get it back. There is no warning that memory is full or close to be full. Please a warning must be sent!!! Is there any way to get the nost recent text?

One of my most used apps!. This is far and away the best voice to text app I have ever used. It is simple, fast, and accurate. There is really nothing more I need from an app like this. It does exactly what it was designed to do, quickly and efficiently. It is one of the most used apps on my iPhone.

Excellent. I love this app One of the most accurate apps in recognising my voice.

Frustrated.... I just bought the app. $9.99 - so not cheap. I record a few short test sentences and all went ok. Fairly accurate. But then I recorded what I really needed to (likely about 5+ minutes of talking), and talked less than 2 minutes, and every time, I get an error message and everything I said was lost and didn't get recorded. Nothing. What happened? It's impossible to even find out or ask questions. There's no instructions link. There's no troubleshooting link. There's no contact for support link. Nothing. As a disabled person, I was excited to find this app. It would help me immensely. But right now, I feel I got screwed. $10 may not be a lot to some, but to others, it's can be everything and can change their lives immeasurably.

Indispensable. As my blog activity grows and I generate more and more posts in order to stay up to date, I find that this app is absolutely indispensable. My iMac is an older one (2014) so the equivalent app won’t work properly on it anymore. This was a happy find, seeing that it works almost perfectly on my iPhone 8 Plus. I’m very happy with it!

Sometimes it works…. I paid $10 for this app and I have gotten about five dollars or somewhat less worth of value. When it works, it does a reasonably good job of translating my voice, about 90 to 95% accuracy. But three times in the past week I have dictated A fairly long note and at the end received a message “ Error in cloud transmission“ and the whole message was lost. I see that Nuance company is a contributor and my experience with them has been abysmal. Think PaperPort and Dragon Dictate. Both of these programs had much promise and started out well but the customer service was so poor and the lack of progress in the company Was so invisible that I had given up on both. Am I going to throw away my $10? Probably.

I want my money back. Had high hopes for this app but was disappointed as the voice to text failed multiple times. Paid the $8.99 to transcribe and then submit weekly reports without having to write it out. Attempt after attempt I was received “null” errors and finally gave up. There’s an app on my phone called voice recorder that said it something similar to what I was looking for if I upgraded (with a free trail period) which I did and that worked perfectly. So I’m out the money for Activate Voice but at least I solved my new. Buyer beware of this app!

Omg!!!!!. I love this app is very convenient for me to talk my dictation into my phone and email it to myself. The type of job I have requires me to do very heavy documentation and to be very detailed in my documentation therefore this app is awesome I highly recommend it. The turnaround time is within seconds of me sending the email to myself ever seen the dictation to immediately copy and paste it into our system.

Nuance Active Voice. Great app! Dictation is very accurate and the option to save to other apps is a big plus.

Lost notes because of error messages. Works well most of the time, but I have lost several important notes after an error message appears and nothing is saved or able to be transcribed. This has been extremely frustrating. Fingers crossed for an update, because this technology is essential for my work. Please update!!!!!!

Siri are you listening. This is what Siri should be like. The dictation in this app is mostly flawless. It’s so much better than Siri. I wish there was a way to integrate this in the apps and replace Siri on my phone with this app. Rather than copy and paste

Love it, but one suggestion. I love the app and it's simplicity. However, I was five minutes into a transcription when I got a notification which canceled the five minutes of idea I had. One suggestion is an option to go in airplane mode when you go to transcribe.

Extremely useful but freezes and crashes. The app is extremely useful as my job is busy and fast paced. The more you use the app the another it becomes as in terms of dictation and voice recognition. However, 1/4 times of its use the app freezes then crashes deleting what was already dictated. I’m using a iPhone 7plus. Hope this issue gets resolved as it has the potential to be a 5 Star application.

Working Perfectly!. It dictated exactly what I say perfectly. I'm also learning Spanish so it's great that I can easily translate my sentences and paragraphs to Spanish and it has done so perfectly so far. I love the simplicity of this app and that it allows quick and simple forwarding to texting, email, etc. and a copy feature if I want to paste it somewhere else. I highly recommend this app!

Active voice. Sound translation is great, I wish there is a way to break up the sentences.

Perfect!. Best voice to text app available that I have found it and I have gone through pretty much all of them. This actually picks up everything clearly and dictates it correctly. This app unlike others rarely if it all messes up words or phrases unlike others where I have to constantly go back and correct them which defeats the purpose of voice to text (and it's frustrating to fix half of everything that you’ve dictated). It's nice to that it works with commands for dictating text that That are for dictating text on Mac but also work for iOS. Some of the commands I'm still figuring out and they might be because of enhanced dictation but overall they work. With iPhone 8 I don't have an option for enhanced dictation but on X there might be an option for enhanced dictation. Don't waste your money on any of the other dictation apps. They're completely useless and will frustrate you to no end. I have wasted way more money than I would care to admit on those and this has been best app that I have found and I always come back to it.

Lying sacks of sh**. Icelandic my a**! Y’all are liars. In the description list it says Icelandic, but once paying for this and looking, it was not an option. I’m looking to be able to voice to text Icelandic, and you just took my money for nothing. There are free apps that do better. Disappointment.

Mixed emotions. I love the app and it’s functionality. I like speaking and seeing what I said on screen. Then being able to edit any mistakes or mis-interpreted words, then being able to continue. However, the app easily loses connection then freezes up and loses everything you have written. I learned this the hard way losing my daughter’s whole wedding speech that I had written. It was a masterpiece if I do say so. I never had a bigger kick in the gut then when the app froze and I lost everything. Fortunately, I had most of it in my heart and I winged it. I was told it was beautiful. But I still feel the one I wrote was better. I was bitterly disappointed. There needs to be a save feature as you write so you don’t lose everything if you are accidentally get disconnected. It could be an awesome product if this could be done.

Not for me. If u constantly want your train of thought interrupted every 3 seconds or so to restart this thing.... go for it! If u are serious about recording your thoughts to ward off writers block later get a DIFFERENT APP! I have to find the on I had before that I could talk and actually have it convert to a written document. 3rd grade level

Poor. Downloaded this app in hopes of using it for work. The first time I used it and it worked great. The second time I used it- it would continue “recording” and the when I clicked done it said that it hadn’t finished recording at all. Instead of letting me know beforehand that it wasn’t receiving it at all. It simply crashed each time. Now I use notes app from Apple to dictate what I need for work. I tried to get a refund from Apple and they didn’t allow it. Lame. Don’t buy this app- waste of $9.99.

Disappointed. I used the old app until iOs 11. I did so because it saved my text. This one works great except that missing feature and the time limit. It’s okay if you are just going to record a few prepositional phrases. Nuance, you did great on the speech recognition but poorly on the features. This makes your product a ‘fail’! I cannot recommend it.

Only one thing is wrong. Only problem was that I was 5 minutes in to a text and the phone fell asleep and deleted my 5 minutes of rambling.

Low functioning app. I’ve been very disappointed with this app. I used Dragon for a long time and I loved it in every way. It never failed to understood my speech, get the spelling, punctuation and grammar correct. This app has been very disappointing. This app offers very little considering the time it takes to correct the errors. I could’ve manually typed the piece. I’ve found it to be undependable and too much effort to edit all the errors.

Amazing, gray for school.. Whenever I have written an esssy and need to type it, I just use this app. I read my essay, it typed it down, and I copy and paste it into my document. Saves me like 1 hour.

Falls a bit short. This app takes decent dictation, but not great, probably not as good as Siri although I'd need to use it a bit more to be sure. The reason I haven't been using it is that it doesn't allow the user to save the texts as a file, not save it to an existing file. I bought this app so I could easily take notes as I review properties for sale, then file the notes for future reference. The extra step of having to text or email to myself, and then compile it, nearly defeats the purpose of this utility.

Needs Update for new IOS.. This is the best voice to text app ever. I gave it one star because it seems to need an update in order to work with the new iPhone IOS. It simply won’t record and reports problems with the cloud. I’ve used it for years and love the app, so its very discouraging that it stopped working. I’ve become dependent on it to do all my writing work.

I agree with Faqueeto. It is nice for me because it gives me a chance to "jot" thoughts, and reminds me later. For instance if I want to find out about"who starred and what movie", if I'm driving especially, I tell the app. It's that kind of thing. Just wish you could port stuff to Evernote, or reminders, that would be icing.

Good at it's core, rough on the edges. The speech recognition in this application is good. For me, it seems to be some of the best I've used. I particularly like that it will process large blocks of speech, rather than halting in the middle when I pause to gather my thoughts. But, saving text is precarious. I've accidentally deleted long passages by closing the application or just the document. I must be very diligent about saving blocks of text promptly. It's like the olden days of hitting CMD-S every few sentences when writing in Word so that a crash wouldn't wipe out much work. And, "yes, I walked five miles to school uphill both ways... in the snow. So you kids better stay off my lawn!" Yeah, the aspects of this application for saving text do make me feel like the grumpy old man I've become. And, even though this application is updated frequently, this significant downside has not been addressed. The core speech recognition function is great.

Awesome!!. This is an amazing app! It might need some finishing touches like adding some cool pictures or taking a picture to put in the background of the text.

Totally worth the price. I also have an app called Nuance Dragon on my pc and it costs $300 but now this $3 app can perform literally the same for everyday tasks.

Bill is not happy. Very crude and basic. I can't believe they charged even 3 dollars for it. It works ok for a while but then it freezes up and you loose everything. Grrrrr. When you send your text, that's all you send. You lose all spacing, titles, paragraphs etc. like I said very crude and basic and not useful at all to me.

You R the Best. I have been useing your software for over three years... IT IS THE BEST PROGRAM I HAVE. Your system has always been 100% and it is a +A rating!!!!!

Please update this app.. I’ve used this app for 2 years now. It came it handy for writing blogs and important stuff. Now I’m mad that this app stopped working for like the past two weeks now. But who ever runs this app. Do use a favor and please just update it. Honestly I’m tried seeing the “Cloud transactions reported an error” popping up on my screen. Plus you deserve one star for not updating this app and for paying attention to what your users are trying to tell you online.

So much more accurate than iPhone’s basic.. This is my go to app for dictation. You can’t see the text building while you’re dictating, so it’s a leap of faith to keep talking. I’d prefer to see the text but... such is life.

Wasted 2.99. This app is no better than the voice to text function already included with the iPhone. In fact at least the iPhone lets me see the text that is being transcribed as I’m speaking. This doesn’t even show that. Fail.

Worked great for a few days. I though this was just what I needed to be able to talk to my mom, who can no longer hear without having to type things. Worked great for a few days and she loved it. It was more like having a conversation. Now I continue to get a cloud error message! I’ll be looking for a different app.

Needs help. I paid for this App so I feel I should use it. It has a hard time recognizing the same words time and time again. There is nothing on the website listing the commands used for dictating, example; "new paragraph" works but so many common sense commands don't. Finally, when you get the document formatted and spaced the exact way you want it, it clumps everything together and you end up re-format the document a second time.

Excellent App. Voice to texts and then you can share on social media or as text messages. This app made my life so much easier.

Couldn't do without this app!. I have to make notes and record all conversations I have with clients. Just the fact that I have to stop and do this every time slows my day down and makes it virtually impossible to be highly productive, but I do understand the significance of it. I used to just email myself and record my notes, but I found this app to to be much quicker and I very rarely have to go back in and change the words. I talk with a deep southern accent so you can only imagine what gets put on paper. Anyway I just love the app and it is invaluable to my business. Works great every time!

Functionality - poor; speech recognition - poor. Product was purchased due to experience with nuance dictation in the past. This app is not very good at all. Tough to use. Can’t see at the transcription. You’re better off using the native speech recognition app that is on your keyboard from Apple.

Love the app!. This app is great for dictating memos when typing is too long or not practical. I use it a lot and it is indispensable!

Excellent. Tapping the screen with my finger results in numerous mistakes. I would much rather dictate. It is much faster and, with Active Voice, it is much more efficient. I have often compared Active Voice with the native Apple dictation and found that Active Voice is, by far, more accurate.

I loved it until it let me down horribly. Why the functionality on this app is fantastic, it’s tendency to loose connections and lose large patches of text me that it is simply not worth using it until they find a way to properly buffer or stop you from recording if the text is not going to be recorded.

Not all it's cracked up to be.... Was free with App of the day so downloaded to give it a try. Works better than most but I was speaking as clearly as I could and it was getting words wrong.

Works for my Australian accent. Hey this is great but it would be a five star app if it could record for longer. Stopping and starting too often breaks my chain of thought

Seems effective. The first sentence I said while wearing my mouth guard and it picked up what I said! It even turned "I am" into "I'm". Impressed so far, haven't used it much but seems to do the trick, and effectively too!

Too short. Does not record for anywhere near long enough. Deleted and installed dragon dictation for free.

There is no auto save. I’ve had to restart 5 long projects because there are no easy save options or automatic save options available... If you want to save what you’ve recorded it needs to be shared somehow. And to save further you need to keep sharing it each time you add more to what you last recorded.. this can be rather challenging and even annoying at times for instance if you are trying to write something for work, studies, lyrics, and happen to accidentally touch the X button with your face... start again.

Average app, no better than Siri. Average app that is no better than Siri when it comes to a Fair Dinkum "Aussie Accent" but I'd you speak American or plumb English it may get it right, who know? I'm an Aussie through and through, so the app didn't work that good for me.

WoW amazing. The best voice app ever, believe me I've seen them all. Deleting every other voice app on phone except this one. I am so amazed at the accuracy, it worked for English and Turkish perfectly. U can even stop then continue verbally then use same app to send via email whatsapp etc

Great App. Very cool. Possible Upgrade Ideas...to include a translate function and having a choice of using the text in other communication apps eg Viber or Tango.

Waste of money. The free app Dragon is just as good if not better. I'm not sure who could be writing these 5 star reviews. Very limited functionality and frequent misinterpretation of words which I'll grant at least can be quite comic. This is by no means a pro app. Don't bother.

Thrashes Siri hands down for accuracy. This excellent app has amazing accuracy and thrashes Siri hands-down for accuracy. As a lawyer I do a lot of dictation and as corrections take time I find myself turning to this app rather than Siri if I want to type something on my iPhone.Strangely Siri's accuracy on my wife's iPhone 5 S is more accurate than on my iPhone 6 I can't work it out and have not been able to fix it. I Highly recommend this app for accuracy particularly if you have an Australian Accent

Great. Good app but text should be black on white rather than blue to make it clearer to read especially for color blind. If you choose to continue recording and press the small mic button the "Please start speaking" is covered by the menu pop up and cannot be read. Would be good to make this visible when pressing the small mic button to see the prompt. Would be great to have a character count on the message before it is shared.

Needs a little getting used to then its great!. The more you use it the better it gets. I use it in French and in English. Tips for people who complain about it: use it with a microphone close to your face (like earphones), ideally in an environment that doesnt have too much ambiant sounds, music or other noises, use your best pronunciation and when the app doesnt get it right, try emphasizing a little differently. It doesnt work perfectly but it saves me 80% typing time. Its a good deal compared to the « best » apps that cost a lot more.

Extremely useful. This is an excellent app. For those who want to really dictate voice onto their iPhone or iPad, this is the app that you need. I have been using Dragon dictate for many years on the desktop and this is every bit as good in terms of quality even though you're speaking into your iPhone. If you are looking for voice dictation to get you past the frustrations of Siri, this is the app. (Incidentally, I dictated this entire review without one edit) .

Pretty good overall. If anyone has problems with it, just remember to speak clearly and enunciate everything properly. It will ignore sounds that it doesn't recognize as words. I wouldn't rely on it as a translator, but it's decent for at least writing down what you've said to it. I also thought it was interesting how you had to say your grammar out loud, aka "comma" and "question mark." Also, how in the AMERICAN accent, "full-stop" creates a period but in BRITISH accent "period" writes down the actual word. Psst: although a Canadian accent is very close to an American one, and there's no real need for a second language filter thing, it'd be cool to have the flags mixed at least.

Very Useful. I use this app to practice Spanish. It is very helpful for correcting my pronunciation. One item on my wish list for this app is that it would display what I am saying as I am saying it. Many other apps do that. With this app right now in order for it to display what I have said I have to press the stop button.

Mms. This is the best app I have on my iPhone. My 88 year old mother who is deaf can communicate with me by reading the screen. Thank you!

I would give a zero. I got this thing for free. Otherwise, had I paid 9.99 I would be having a fit. This thing only catches the odd word if any at all. You’d have to hold the device to your mouth and enunciate, and still a crapshoot as to whether or not it’ll properly translate speech to text. Uninstalled.

Doesn’t Work. Not accurate at all. It jams up and crashes if you do anything long eg 5 minuets.

Great app - but needs some improvements. I just started using this app, just for voice to text *no translation, and it works great - very few typos! There does need to be some improvements: 1) It records less than 1 minute of text (it needs to be *much* longer - that's only a couple of paragraphs of an email!!) & then it abruptly ends without warning you. So, besides making the length longer, they also need to add a beep sound when it stops recording so you know it's ended, especially if your multitasking & are not watching the screen...like we all do. 2) there is no way of saving your text if you have not finished & all can be easily lost! 3) there's no way to pause it if you get interrupted or need to collect your thoughts. 4) there needs to be a way to teach it your pronunciations or common words (like other voice recognition software) or allow it to save common words you use - like your family names.

Barebones speech to text app that lacks basic features. Translating speech to text is fairly accurate and fast (American English) but overall this is a very barebones app. Curse words (I had to try) are sta**ed which is silly but not a deal break by any stretch. The app lets you send text to e-mail, SMS or iMessage and Twitter, Facebook and WhatsApp, but there is no way to easily save your text other than copying and pasting it into a Notes.app note or another text document. When the app is closed the recorded text is deleted so you can't take a break and continue where you left off. Built in iOS dictation offers more features than this app and I wouldn't pay money for this product (it was a free promotion when I obtained it).

Wow! Congrats to the genius behind this.... Finally an app that does exactly what it says it does! I am very impressed by the fact that I can use it in French and the spelling is right. It even understands the punctuation signs verbally. What a great tool!

So useful!!. Really great app. I can easily make lists of things to pack for a trip or for grocery shipping --faster than using those apps that are tailored for those things. Being able to speak thoughts into my phone at night instead of turning on the light and writing it down is also useful. Multiple options on where/how to use the note afterwards too. Well done

Not usable. I haven't been able to use this app fo far. In some cases, the app doesn't record anything. In other cases, it seems to record..: only to error out after I’m done talking, indicating that the input is too long, and it won't process it. The app also takes too long ”connecting” before I start talking and then ”processing” after I’m done to be usable. I reached out to customer support using the contact form of their website (under construction) and didn't get any answer. I don't recommend this application.

Great app!. It's an awesome app! It would be nice to have Filipino on the talking part though...

First shot works perfectly and easily.. But when you want to record a second round and press the square button again, the language changes back to English and the jibber jabber makes no sense anymore

Not what I expected. Cannot record to text more than 1 min. At a time. Does not recognize correct words. Sadly. Only good for texts. I should have reviewed better before paying $.

Terrible. This is a terrible dictation app if you are looking for something to dictate emails or notes and have it converted into text.

Please fix new line bug. Any ideas on how to resolve the cloud transaction error. I keep getting this error. Keepers typing the words new line when prompted to go to a new line

You get what you pay for!. Needed this app to transcribe a speech longer than 1 minute. Practiced with short speeches, then went to do the important one only to find out it quit after a minute... what a piece of junk!

Not as good as Siri or Google. It doesn't work that well for me. I think these other reviews must be fake, because the accuracy is not even close to Siri in my experience. I would say save your money.

Really Bad. The app fails often and I tap stop only to get an error and lose everything I just said. I'd return this app if I could it's useless to me.

Okay but no pauses allowed. Does a good job of capturing what I say, but only if I speak without pausing. A slight pause will cause the app to stop recording.

Bought to record classes to notes. Kept getting iCloud error. At best pickup 2 words in a 1 min recording

Not accurate speech to text. Bought this to record interviews but the transcriptions are rarely accurate. Always have to go back and edit the text which defeats the purpose of the app. Wasted my money :(

What’s the point of this?!. Most smart phones have a dictation feature and works many times better than this app. I don’t understand why someone would need this app?

Starting Shutting Down. I used this app often in the past, but hasn't even been opening up on my iPhone and my iPad for months. Don’t waste your money on this app. It should be removed from choices of apps for purchase😡.

It misses all the connecting words!. I see a few words of what I transcribed, but it is missing a ton of them. Can I get a refund???

Active Voice. Just wasted $8.99 on the worst dictation app I’ve come across and I’ve tried dozens. Don’t waste your time or money with this garbage.

Does what it says it does.. I am very pleased with it.

Unstable. So far after an hour of ownership, I am less than impressed. Twice it failed to retain the data I input, giving the message “cloud transaction reported an error.“

RECORDING FAILS!. Just downloaded the app. Tried to record my notes twice, and on both times got "error connecting to cloud"! $&@;#€{££ Not trying the 3rd time, will request refund.

Error. I tried numerous times to make this app work. It repeatedly gave me an error about cloud transaction error. When it did work the transcript was totally inaccurate.

Waste. This app gives a "cloud error" for anything over a couple minutes. I bought this app to transcribe hour-long interviews so it is a complete waste of money for me.

Negative experience. First of all i have purchases the app at 9.99 and underperforms apps obtained for free 1/ does not work for interviews using the two microphone. 2/ does not record long conversations (for short notes i do not need a ten dollar app!). 3/ no tutorial 4/ no phone number to call for support I have tried the above functionalities elsewhere and frankly i cannot hold my disappointment in using such an expensive app.

Email does not work.. Tap on email icon and nothing happens. Message icon works. Need email icon to work.

Couldn’t be unhappier. Recording a great speaker and being able to read dictation from the video presentation(s) is crucial for my learning curve. Every time I record, the app says’ “cloud transaction error” and I loose everything that’s been said. I’ll be calling for a refund. I can only hope Apple will support me after this mistake. Thanks for reading. And good luck to the developers for this App. It really is a Stellar idea and would be terrifically useful in my career field.

The app keeps turning off. Very disappointing I have not been able to complete one assignment without the app stopping mid sentence. A waste of money

Apps. Love the app! My Granddaughter is taking Italian in College And she and I converse with each other.

Needs more work. This should “ideally” know when a sentence ends. It should recognize if a said a question and place a ? at the end. You really need to make a product that’s useful before you launch it. Try again!

Crashing on open iOS 12. Crashes every time for me on iOS 12, can’t even open the app.

Awful app. Can’t seem to dictate more than a handful of words at a stretch. Seriously. Unless this was meant for tweets only, it’s a waste of money in my opinion.
