Old version was better. ### May 20, 2018 ### The app seems to be draining battery, so I try not to use the app when battery level is low. ### Original Post ### I liked the old version of the app much better than the new one. The old one allowed me to download small data without downloading the data for navigation, and the old one did not ask me to turn on the location service every time when I launched the app. The new one forces me to download large data and keeps asking me to turn on the location service. If this map can be used offline, I do not know why the app keeps asking me to turn on the location service. I am very disappointed with the new one (1 star), but it may be still better than other offline map apps (+ 1star).

Pretty worthless for a nav app. Unable to search for a specific address. It will find a street. But where on that street you want to go is up to you. So you have to know where you're going and perhaps use the app for routing and turn by turn. Even that is a pain for data entry as you need to enter a cross street. Well, again you have to know where you want to go before you can enter the cross street it's near. As the GIS maps I'm familiar with have address capability, my curiosity got to me. Seems apps that use GIS addresses are widgets or plug-ins, computer based and require the internet (not off-line). So don't expect this app to be updated for address capability. 2 stars is somewhat of a gift. For me, the app is useless. I frankly don't get the favorable reviews.

Great but not perfect. This is a wonderful app for travelers! Download the maps for the areas you need, and forget about a data connection, all the info needed is stored on your device. Update, download, and delete maps as you need. Set waypoints / pins at your location and never get lost agin (hopefully!). I like it particularly for walking. I would give it 5 stars if not for one little problem. Once a route is started an arrow appears that points in the direction to head. Driven by the compass this feature works even when you are not moving. If it worked properly this would be a 5 star app, no question about it. Even without this feature I’d give it 4 stars. But the arrow ALWAYS points in the WRONG DIRECTION. it did that years ago on my iPhone 5; it did it with my SE, and now it’s the same on my 7 Plus. It’s not a feature, it’s a bug that has persisted across many updates and several hardware changes. So, 3 stars. It’s still a great mapping app, though.

Best offline navigation app. This is an awesome app. I would give it 5 stars if they change one thing. The navigation is terrible in one aspect. It tells you to turn at every curve. Where there’s no alternative option. Which is really annoying and potentially confusing. Especially when it tells you to go around a curve that’s just a few feet away from a possible turn. Everyone knows you keep following the road you’re on until you need to turn. They need to avoid extra directions that aren’t needed and focus on giving clear turns when you actually turn. I end up not paying attention especially on curvy roads and then miss a turn because it always says to turn to go around a curve. Also a direct 90 degree turn is NOT a slight right/left.

Suddenly subscription. This is my in case staff map application. I never really use it but like to have the maps downloaded because it will work off GPS with no cell service, previously had downloaded over 12 GB of maps of North America. With the latest update, all of a sudden I am over the allowable limit of maps, and it requires a ongoing subscription to download more than 10 Mabs, California alone has more than 10 maps the way they’re broken up. I like the app and I don’t mind paying for an application, but I am NOT paying in perpetuity, especially for some thing that ideally wont meed to use. I would love a one time purchase version, more stripped down and bare bones like this used to be years ago without the extra fat. No voice guidance would be fine with me, just an address search, wouldn’t even mind planning out my own routes, some long as I can search for my destination, like A map as if I pulled it out of my glove box would be great. I have no problem paying a one time fee, or buying maps for a one time fee.

Fabulous Travel App. Saved me so many times when not able to access wireless and use maps. I stored destination maps onto my phone before heading out each day and was able to track location and progress as I wandered around small villages in Provence. It is possible to drop a pin to find your way back to a location (think rental car) which is a major relief. After the trip I had pins saved in all the villages to correspond to my photos...that helped. It was fun to watch the little arrow navigate along the road and spin in confusion around the traffic circles in France. Best travel app ever!

Handy. This app is, for the most part, easy to use—although I should probably remove a star for the part that isn’t easy—except that I wanted a map that was always ready to go, knew where I was, and could find my destination and plot a route when I didn’t have WiFi available. And this does just that. Very handy when walking around in a city. If you’re driving a ways, it’s best if you download maps for where you’re going before you leave WiFi coverage. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but I’ve not gotten lost yet!

Poor navigation. I tried this app both offline and online in a pretty rural area that I know well of Connecticut and I really am not convinced I could trust it when abroad. First, the directions are very basic, no indication of any kind about the exit numbers or general directions to follow, no indications about stops and sometimes, it got very confused with curved roads telling me to keep left or right for no reason. It just says turn right, turn left, that’s it. You better keep an eye on the screen to understand where you go. Second, it does not choose the shortest route. When on my way home from point A, it told me to exit then instead of turning right, it was going straight, back to the highway I just left?????? And finally, searching an address should be simple bit within this app, it is just a nightmare, you never know what to input first: state? Town? Street? Number? Who designed this? I mean, I entered my home address, it did not find it the way it is recorded by the postal services! Why not guide the user in how to input the address? Now, given the poorness of navigating in a “rural” area, I don’t think this is going to work in Paris, France… I grew up in Paris’s outskirts and this thing is going to lose me.

Best travel app, can’t get lost. This is by far the best map app I have ever used. I’ve used it frequently for international travel (South America, Europe, and North America) and in remote places where I don’t always have a cell phone signal. You can download the map of the area ahead of time and use it in airplane mode. It even navigates in airplane mode! The maps are really detailed and you can zoom in to see anything, even things like small hiking paths, monuments, historic ruins, waterfalls, in addition to the usual street names and building names, etc. It’s easy to add pins of various colors so I use it both as a planning tool, and I also mark the places I’ve been and liked and may want to come back to, such as restaurants, shops, natural parks, etc. The interface is easy to use as well. Highly recommend.

Used to be good. The app over the last year has had a lot of glitches and been crashing a lot but since it was free I never complained since this map app has saved many times where I didn’t have signal but I had downloaded the maps for offline use ahead of time. But now they are limiting the amount of maps you can have for offline use and the app still crashes consistently when updating maps and it has a hard time centering when initializing and finally most annoyingly the syncing doesn’t work at all, I have multiple devices and I have to add bookmarks on each device separately and re-add them all every time I upgrade. Even with all those complaints, it was free so I was happy. But now … It still has a clunky interface. And the amount they’re asking for the Pro subscription I would rather buy a legit map program at a cheaper price. Very disappointing to see this app go paid.

Completely ruined from what it used to be. This used to be my favorite map app, but now all of the added features have considerably slowed it down. You’ll notice that many of the 5 star reviews are several years old. When I open the map and it searches for my location, it often takes me to the middle of the ocean before it gets confused and freezes. Searching usually causes it to freeze and when you just want to do a quick search, there are too many hoops to jump through to see what you’re looking for. If you don’t type fast enough, the search will ignore the first letters you type and only search for the last letters which is completely useless. I used to be able to change the color of a pin with one click, but now you have to hit at least 4 clicks just to change a color. I have ignored all of this annoyance and the fact that many locations are missing making it inferior to other similar maps anyway, but now they want you to pay for a lower quality map seems like pure greed. With the unpaid version, you can only download 10 maps at a time, but the maps seem to be smaller so if you’re on a road trip, good luck being able to download all the maps you need without being asked to pay. Not to mention that I have deleted maps several times only for them to automatically redownload so that it appears I have reached my map capacity again. As a long time user I can say it used to be much better before they tried to turn it into a paid product.

Offline capabilities are great but a few problems. I like this app. The ability to download offline maps is really great. The only problem is that you can’t search for street addresses, only for attractions, recreational areas, etc. You can add a custom pin on a map in which it will navigate to you, but if you don’t know where it is, you can’t. Also the ETA to certain destinations can be off, especially offline. Unlike Google Maps, biking and walking directions are available offline. The navigation system is not the best but works. Unless you walk or bike a lot, or want to download a very large area (like an entire country), I would recommend downloading an offline map with Google Maps, but in any other situation I would recommend this app.

Good app but…. I have had this app pretty much since it came out. Was great for offline navigation. It was free, a bit lacking in information, but very easy to to use all around the world no matter the language. This year, 2023, they suddenly limit users to only 10 maps. If you want more you must pay more than $50/year. I had paid for another app a one time price of $50. It is much more accurate AND you can download by country - yes, a whole country. Sorry, but I cannot afford to suddenly pay monthly/annual fee for each app I had gotten for free. A one time reasonable price may be worth considering. This is why the 3 stars.

no ads and in-app purchases! and yes it's really free.. This free app is already at the top of the heap simply because it has no ads and in-app purchases. But moreover, it's actually useful! You can use this without an internet connection. This means if you're a cheapskate like me and don't have a data plan, you can still use this. After downloading this app at home, just download the maps you need. The maps are detailed with many POI's included. It'll also create a route from your current location to a destination on the map. It's better than CityMaps2Go which I used before until it started charging a fee. There are a few things I wish they change. First, the name. It doesn't conform with other app names. Second, the icon color. Green is usually for chatting apps like Message and FaceTime. And third, either the arrow color or route color need to change when trying to follow a route on the map. Both the arrow color and route color are the same color blue and it's difficult to see where you are along the route. Other than these things, this app is perfect.

Very good offline map. Used this in a recent trip to Italy, including several smaller cities. Downloaded “the entire country”. Worked great at navigating around the city/village including the smaller ones. Also has a pretty good database of hotels, restaurants, destinations, etc. Some points for improvement (though this is still by far the best offline map app I’ve seen): GPS struggles a bit when “between cities” ie it thinks you are still in the previous city. We were using trains, boat, etc so not really an issue but it might be a problem if you are driving yourself. The search engine for the database of restaurants could use some improvement. It’s very specific on spelling and word order ie “ristorante simbiosi” vs just “simbiosi”. It doesn’t like navigating to a “street address” or “point on the map” which was sometimes a problem in smaller cities where the database didn’t include a restaurant that a guide recommended. Still overall the best offline map app that I’ve used, especially as it includes maps/data for an entire country not just the biggest cities.

The international companion that saves you money. Do you like saving money on international trips? If so, this app is a must. I found it before our 2 week trip to Chile. On that trip, we rented a car and drove 2100 kilometers. In all of that driving, we encountered one waypoint the map didn’t have, and another that was off by two blocks. Because of the completely offline nature of maps and waypoints and directions, we only had to enable cellular once in that two weeks to find that waypoint that was off by two blocks. So just $10 to Verizon for travel pass, instead of the $140 we likely would have paid. One complaint is the turn by turn directions. They could use some tweaking. As is, they sometimes cause you to blow past turns and take a U-turn. Not because of the diver, but because the route did that. It was weird. Also, the voice wasn’t too good at announcing the turns, but luckily my wife was.

Monthly Subscription Not Acceptable For Infrequent Need. The original simple version was outstanding. As long as I had GPS reception I could track my location anywhere on Earth without a cellular signal. That is all I want it for. I am more than willing to pay a reasonable one time fee but I will not pay continuously for something I only use a two or three times a year. I am also not willing to pay for a ton of features I would never use. I just want continuous GPS offline map tracking down to sufficient detail to locate nearby cities, towns, etc. and major roads. Although not in original version, speed, altitude, and direction, simply overlayed in a corner of the map, would be a really nice feature.

I need other features, .... Darn, thought I had found the map I need, ... guess not, ... this is missing things that a number of other maps already have, ... but is “supposed” to have stuff for hikers, outdoorsmen, (kayak fishing), ... like the location of “all” boat ramps, put in/take out points, marina repair, etcetera, ... for canoeing, kayaking, or float tube drifting, ... And I also need a marine version, that would include specific features, like area weather reports, current flow, depth charts, & user feedback notations for waypoints, ... in addition to including time of day moon/sun rise charts, ...Sure! Having hiking trail info would be great, I guess, but being able to also camp, fish, clean, & cook, plus places to rest overnite, including temporary shelters, would be a max enjoyable experience, ... maybe the developers could actually manage something of this magnitude? But then maybe not, I’ll have to stick to my Google maps for now I s’pose, .., great, but not detailed enough for me, ...

Ruined in update 14.6.0, and all for money!. This app was ruined during most recent update and the new version 14.6.0, and the new “in-app purchase.” Only 10 maps in “basic” (free) edition - which originally had no limit on maps to download - and now you have the the nerve to try to charge $48 a year. If you kept all the unnecessary new “on-line” gizmos and gadgetry out of the app, you still would have had a great app. But as you have tried ( so many times) over the course of “updating” it it has proven only to be actually less functional or attractive for what was originally designed for as the best “off-line” use map. Guess I will just download the FREE Google maps when required for vacation travel purposes. Your “new” $48 app is not worth it in the least.

GREAT idea but needs LOTS of work. I love the idea of this app - especially as a NYC dweller who always finds myself needing to look up destinations on the subway with no internet connection. I downloaded the NYC map and then tried searching for a destination. Even though I had internet connection, it couldn’t find ANY locations for names of businesses I typed in... frequent destinations that show up #1 on a simple Google search. So I tried to type in the address, which is extremely annoying in an age where no one memorizes addresses or phone numbers anymore, but it literally couldn’t find ANY address. Not a single one. Finally, your nail in the coffin was that there’s zero support for subway directions, which is the only way I get around. A LOT of people in NYC could seriously benefit from this app (since lack of internet on the subway drives us all nuts) but not without transit directions, and DEFINITELY not if you can’t find anything. I’ll revise this rating if you get functionality, because I want this app so badly and would even pay for it, but honestly it’s not ready so I’m deleting it.

2* just for how useful it used to be. Frankly, this app is useless now without paying the massive yearly subscription fee. I have sworn up and down for this app and have gotten probably hundreds of people to use it, and they’ve ALL loved it. Until now. Now you only get a small amount of map downloads, meaning if you don’t have the right map downloaded at the right time, you’re screwed. This app’s use has always been when out of cell data range for the sole purpose of the offline maps. Offline as in a one time download then periodic update of the map. For the new price, it would cost less to buy a nice GPS with unlimited maps than just to use the app. At least add a true offline mode so the app is still useable for its original purpose. Sad to see this app go this way, I’ve always loved it

Stopped working with Apple CarPlay. I installed and tested this app and it worked properly on both my iPhone 12 and in my car using CarPlay, but I updated the app and found it would no longer work in my car. After the update the icon appeared in the CarPlay display, but starting the app caused it to load and then terminate. I have tried this in two different vehicles and it failed in both. I wrote to the support line telling them of the problem but have not heard back yet. Since I use navigation software in my vehicles through CarPlay and since this no longer works through that display I have removed it from my iPhone. It still works on the phone itself so for those who use it on the phone and not through CarPlay this is still an OK app and I will reinstall it if they fix the CarPlay issue.

This app saved us.. I just got back from a 3 week cycle trip to Iceland and nothing was more helpful in that time than this app. We found out about it from a couple after we bumbled through our first few days using other downloaded maps. The fact that you can download an area and use it to give directions offline is amazing. Things are labeled on these maps so well. If you’re going to travel I would highly recommend this. Even for around town it’s replaced google maps for me. If you’re on the fence just take the jump and try this out, you’ll love it.

Great app!. This app is wonderful for traveling! With it, I was able to find everything I needed and get where I wanted to go. The ability to put pins on the map was invaluable and well worth the cost. It also told me how far it was to certain places, which was nice. It also helped me find restaurants and gas stations, which was really helpful when traveling in an unfamiliar area. The ability to access maps offline was extremely useful. In sure I'll be using this again in my future travels. Unfortunately it does have some problems. While using the navigation function, it misled us while driving. Also, navigation using public transportation doesn't work at all.

Good app. Has its ups and downs, like any, but useful!. My family and I recently traveled to Aruba, where only I was able to have reception. Being on the (beautiful) island before, my fiancée was aware of the app, which has you download the entirety of your locale/destination/local map and then uses GPS. So even if you can’t make calls, texts, or such, it will work. Lifesaver, really. The only real downsides were that it: 1: Seems to be off by about 50 feet or either measures the turn exactly, so no doubt, before one realizes this a few turns may be missed. However once you notice it, it’s not a problem. 2.I think (not sure) it gives the time to destination as if there were PERFECT conditions. Everyone going the speed limit. No problems/sudden stops, raining pigs, etc. Makes sense, honestly, as it can’t update in real time, so 🤷‍♂️. No biggie! 3. Now the one annoying thing is that sometimes the app just spins like a top, and you’re thinking “well I’m definitely going to miss my next turn 565 ft in-front of me, and then suddenly 75 feet before you turn it’ll act “normal.” Haven’t figured out why it does this not how to “fix it.” Sure that others have noticed it and there’s a patch coming out. Ultimately, if you’re going to a place that you won’t be able to use you preferred GPS of choice (aside from satellite), I would recommend this! Just wanted to give an honest assessment so one knows that the experience will be like! 4/5 for me! Thanks! -R

Apple Maps. The Maps app that comes with every Apple phone is a pretty normal navigation app, you have your different views of the map, walking, driving, and more forms of transport. But, that’s it, it’s just a normal maps app with not much added to it, which is disappointing. It will definitely get you where you need to go with a very ordinary display, that isn’t too bad and with pretty good recommended routes. Now, there are some unique features to the Apple maps, you can do a flyover tour, which will show you a view of your desire from a view that resembles that of one you would see from a plane. The Apple maps app is useful and good enough for everyday travel, despite it’s very ordinary features, I recommend you use it if you have no time to download anything else.

Unsure who this app is for. I’m not sure who this app is for, but I guess it isn’t meant for me. I read an article singing it’s praises as a Google Maps alternative, but from that lens it’s not anywhere close. Not even an Apple Maps replacement. On opening it downloaded maps for Los Angeles, which was fine. But when I typed in a city I plan to drive to soon, it couldn’t find it. Maybe it needs the maps downloaded for that city? But no prompt, just a list of suggestions that vaguely sound like that town. Okay… so I checked out the “sights” section, it gave a random list of parks and churches nearby. 0 reviews listed for any of the places. Okay, I’ll write some for them to help this app out. No way to submit a review. Are there any existing reviews, or where are they being scraped from? There’s also some sort of crypto wallet I guess? Why my map would need that, I don’t know. I tried to look at it but couldn’t without signing up with my phone number. The ruler thing is a cool idea, you can drop pins and get a measurement of the distance. That’s a cool idea. However I tried to measure my neighborhood run of 2 miles and after 9 pins it just ends. It couldn’t even measure a 2 mile run. This might be a cool app for travelers based off other reviews, but if offline maps is the main attraction, Google maps also does this.

Updated: Latest update resolves the horrible prior release. Update: Most recent update seems to have fixed all of the issues including switching back to OpenStreetMap for data instead of MapBox. Not sure what happened with the previous release, but the devs seemed to have had a mea culpa. — Version 2.0 is frustratingly buggy. Search seems to be broken. Searches for addresses never find any results. More embarrassingly, searching for cities and towns is hit or miss, even major centers. If a city shows up on the map, why doesn’t search find it? Switching between layers inevitably results in a blank map that may or may not resolve itself without restarting the app. The ability to download offline maps for entire states or countries appears to be gone. You have to select every map individually. New design is fine, but is overshadowed by functional problems. A shame since this was my go to app for offline maps.

Life saver!. I live in New England. My husband and I traveled to Vietnam for two weeks. We didn’t have a phone plan and we were able to connect to WiFi everywhere we went. But for the times we didn’t have WiFi this app was a life saver! It didn’t use any of our data and it gave us such great directions. We actually had more fun and seen more things because of it. With this app we purposely got lost because we knew that we can use it to get back to our hotel. It allowed us a more carefree travel experience. I recommend this app to so many other tourists while we were away and my own friends before they went on their trip. Love love love it!

Starting to go downhill…. This app was by far a 5 star app for a long time. Over the past year or so, we’ve gotten a lot of ads shoved in the app. The implementation has been a bit annoying and in your face. At the same time, there’s been no fixes to long-standing issues or annoyances whatsoever. (Labels and lines on map are kinda small, dark mode’s map is basically unreadable thanks to the map colors, etc…) I don’t want to move away from this app, as it really checks all the boxes. But paying for the app seems silly with it being a very expensive subscription, and that the “Hub” section is entirely an ad sheet that I assume won’t go away when you buy it.

Doesn’t work with Apple CarPlay. Was recently on two trips where I’d lost WiFi and cellular data. I’ve downloaded many state maps and all of those I was traveling through. But when I tried to use this app with CarPlay, all I could get was a blank screen. Thankfully, I had a route designated through Waze and Google Maps. Received a response from the app developer stating to open the app on my iPhone before opening it on CarPlay. I did this and it worked. I’d become so accustomed to not having to do that with other map apps that it didn’t occur to me to try it. The app developer said this issue will be resolved in later update. So, I’m changing my review from 3 to 5 stars.

Search box in the way on Carplay. The search box takes up half the screen on Carplay when not in navigation mode ie. not routing to a destination. Sometimes it’s nice just to have the map displayed, but half of it is lost with the search box. Can’t they put a small icon or field at the top of the screen that says “Search” that would open up the search options? Also would be great to have live traffic displayed. Another snag is that on Carplay when selecting display mode to auto, it goes to night mode! Another snag is sometimes the current position doesn’t automatically update and leave the map frozen. Lots of snags to work on guys!

Make sure you always have data available!. I've had this on my phone for a long time. However, recently I was in an area with no service. I decided to use it to find my way since it doesn't require service to work. But, unless it already has the local detail map downloaded, it will always pop up a notification box asking you to download the local map. Thus making it absolutely useless. If you zoom out far enough it doesn't ask, only if you zoom in does it require the map to be downloaded. I recommend that if there's no data at least allow you to say not now or select no service available and continue on instead of having to give up and use the sun as a reference point.

WAS the best app - “improvements” have ruined it. I have used this app for over a decade. The offline access has been lifesaving more than once. It has let me follow hiking and skiing trails in the backcountry of the US and Europe that don’t show up in anyone else’s map app, online or offline. It has helped me navigate driving through confusing roads where offline was the only choice and nothing else would work. I don’t mind paying but to go from free to full pay is a slap. While I do appreciate that the free version still offers some map access, many new features recently added have slowed it down and make it crash sometimes, so I am hesitant already to pay for something that is becoming unstable. This was an elegant lifesaver for me for many years. Now I can’t rely on it online or offline anymore. I hope the developers can get back to basics - i.e. ensure it WORKS - and also consider offering either monthly (not just annual) subscriptions or graded subscriptions (e.g. 10 maps free, 20 maps for a year for $20, all maps for a year for $50).

Used to be best offline navigation map. This app used to be the best offline navigation map. Now guess what they did? They ask for money if you want to download more than a certain amount of offline maps. It’s like $4.99/month? WHY? They already had other ways that they made money through other in-app purchases like their eSIMs, etc. I don’t want to have to delete maps if I want to download more. They even have their own credit card. I have been using this app for 6-8 years, and on multiple domestic and international trips. Only now did they decide to do this. It’s only a matter of time before they start charging for other features. Besides this major annoyance, this app provides turn-by-turn directions (it actually talks!), and good offline biking, walking, and driving directions. The walking directions used to not have speech, though they might have fixed that since I last tried to use it. I mainly the directions feature for driving and biking. They have all the hiking and mountain biking trails mapped that I’ve needed so far. The maps are more detailed than Google Maps, yet somehow manage to use less storage.

Not worth it. I’ve used this app for years, and it’s been buggy for a long time. I don’t recall ever being able to type in, for example, a residential address with a house number and the app be able to find it. I had better luck just typing in a street name instead or zooming in on the map to find the approximate area that I was looking for, which is not really ideal. I was surprised to find the app was suddenly changed to a subscription model. I am for developers getting paid, but the yearly subscription price, to me, is not worth it. I mainly had this app in case I lost my cell service when traveling. For the cost of the subscription, I could just buy a used GPS device even if the maps to it might not be up to date and use that if I lose my cell service when traveling. If the subscription cost was A LOT lower or if it was a one-time app buy, then it might be worth it to me.

Update makes it worse. Removing features from the base version doesn’t make a “pro version”. Why can I only download 10 offline maps now? The offline maps was the main reason to use this app, and a $48/year “upgrade” to restore the features removed in the last update is just not worth it. Yes, the pro version adds a new color scheme and some new GPS navigator features, but the real change is having that arbitrary map limit restored. Shameful that the developers have chosen to use this route to make a “pro” mode rather than introducing actual features that make it worth it to pay for, or at least making it a one-time purchase rather than a repeat subscription (and a relatively expensive one at that).

Really Good. I never write reviews for apps, but I really love this one! I use it a lot when i am travelling in countries that i don’t have cell phone service in and, for the most part, it has done its job. The only complaint that I have is that the last time i went to use the app i noticed that it no longer provides historical information about certain places, which happened to be my favourite part about the app. I don’t know if there is any way that we can bring this back, but it really helps me plan my trip and i love using it to learn while i travel :)

Probably the best offline map!. This app is perfect for me when I travel to Mexico to see my family because my internet over there is very slow and maps don't load quick enough and is very laggy this might not take you to a house but is perfect for searching up cities all you have to do is to download the map which surprisingly did not take up as much space as I thought it would take this is the perfect app for traveling really recommended

Amazing Trip saver map app. I read about this app on trip advisor regarding traveling. I was going to Cuba where there is no phone service or internet for travelers. I downloaded the map of Cuba prior to my trip and saved all the points of interest. I used it every day it was my GPS. One time we were walking the wrong way and since it shows us walking we were able to right away turn around and head the right way. This offline map showed us everything where the hotels were, the restaurants and places of interest. Going to Europe next month and taking this app with me!! It is amazing and free wow!!!!

New version destroyed the app. I wish there were a way to go back to the prior version. While the new version (11.0.0) may have "pretty" maps, it has removed the ability to navigate with north up, so now the map spins around crazily while driving. Also seems to be 3D navigation only, not flat map, so you can no longer judge distances by looking. It no longer downloads maps if the screen locks, so you have to babysit while downloading, constantly tapping the screen to avoid auto lock. Downloads take forever - I am at a location with high speed fibre optic internet, and each map takes 15-20 minutes to download. Prepping for a road trip across South Africa where many routes have no cell coverage and the app does not let me download three of the nine provinces. The app no longer tells the download sizes, so I cannot make an informed decision about downloading over data vs wifi. The developers seem to be living in some sort of wonderful bubble with lots of wifi and complete cell coverage, unlike much of the real world. Disappointed.

Seems to be getting worse, not better. I’ve had the app for several years. It once helped a friend and I find a remote trail on a Mexican volcano. I’ve used it several times in remote areas without cell service. While the turn directions were almost too many at times, I appreciated that the app could get me somewhere until I had service. As of late, however, I get no more voice from the app, it keeps telling me to turn on location services when it already is turned in, tells me to backup bookmarks, and hasn’t played well with CarPlay - not updating time nor distance and often locking up. I considered a subscription, but not if it’s like this now. Today, just to see how much the Pro subscription is, I tried to look by pressing the button in the app. It says there’s no internet connection, even though I have allowed cellular data, am on wifi, and every other app I’m using is working.

Don’t leave home without it. This has saved me multiple times. It is the best offline map app I know of. It can be a little finicky when you are searching something, for example you have to make sure you spell everything correctly and phrase it exactly as it appears on the map but everything from highways to hiking trails are perfectly mapped and if you get lost in a foreign land and took the time to download a map before you got there, this app will not lead you astray.

Great for travel. I used this app for Southeast Asia last November for 7 weeks, it made my life much easier I never once needed cell service I was able to download areas over WiFi easily and then I was set. I highly recommend this app for the traveler. I also used it on a couple occasions as a tracker, while kayaking In Hua long bay I left the tracker on and was able to navigate many miles and still find the boat in the middle of a hundred islands ( probably would have never found it) and made me feel very confident I could find my way back many times throughout my travels. Thanks maps me.

Off-roading or city travels - this is the best app. I've been using this app for years, since I read it as a recommendation in a travel blog. I now use this with my husband and kids to explore new countries and random backroads. We have had incredible experiences and painless travels thanks to the dynamic options and stunning accuracy of these maps. I don't use anything else and never worry about whether or not I have cell reception. Just remember - zoom in on your potential locations and download all maps ahead of time, just in case!

Great when you don’t have data service. I originally got this for overseas travel when I would have my phone in airplane mode most of the time due to data costs. This app got me back to the hotel in Albacete, Spain when I got lost. I now live in a rural area that does not have full cell coverage, and I’ve come to love it even more. The search functions are not great for common vernacular place names, but are getting progressively much better. It works pretty well for standardized, formal place names. The routing is not traffic-aware, but when you can’t get a cell connection, traffic is probably not a problem.

Love this app. So handy to use, can mark spots like landmarks, restaurants, your hotel, metro stops, etc. Love the fact that it works offline- no internet or cellular connection needed when walking around a city, and it still provides your current location. Also provides an optional metro map on top of your saved locations, so you can see what metro stop to get off of and what metro rote to take. Saves you from downloading a metro map of every city you are visiting. Also provides directions from one location to another(say your hotel to a restaurant). It shows estimated time and walking or driving directions (so if renting a car you don’t need a GPS). Totally recommend wherever you may be!

Musician / Driver / Outdoorsman. It's great to have stool like this while traveling and being able to search ahead for new locations. The details on the city maps, such as places of interest and restaurants makes this an essential travel companion. I have also used this app for tracking my location while hunting and hiking. However, when you open the app it DOES REQUIRE a WI-FI signal and you will be able start tracking your location when WI-FI is no longer available, so you can mark a location and retrace your steps or simply find where you started without getting g lost. 👍👍

I love this app. I just got back from a two week road trip in Norway. I live in the US and was not wanting to buy an international plan for data. I downloaded this app after I read that it doesn’t use WiFi or data. The minute that we got into our rental car and we’re trying to find out how to get to our hotel I turned on this app. I put in the town name and a bunch of option popped up, including hotels, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. Still being new to the app I was waiting for an error message to pop saying I needed to connect to a server. Fast forward to the last day of vacation. We traveled over 3,500 miles in Norway, Finland and Sweden and every time this app took us to the place we wanted to be. This entire vacation was stress free and we didn’t have to worry about using the gigantic paper maps when we got lost. If your planning on traveling to a country or location that you know you won’t have service or your like me and does not want to pay extra charges for an international plan download this app.

AWESOME APP!. I looked for an app that I thought would work for our trip to Europe. Well, I am thoroughly blown away at this one. We have been driving in many remote areas and it has been spot on the whole time. It shows even the smallest of roads in the Slovenian countryside in villages that are maybe 10 houses. It's hasn't let me down once in 2 weeks. We are now in Venice and it's a godsend with all of the information that is packed into the downloaded files. Being able to still know where you are offline is priceless. I highly recommend this app.

A gem. I have used this App widely for three years for both national and international travel. I find it responsive for searching and quick and accurate for route planning. I prefer it over my TomTom for planning and whenever I have any form of conflict. It’s offline feature is a bonus when recording personal POI’s. It would be even better if it could track.

The Ultimate!. I am an outdoor enthusiast and an avid traveler off road where I rely on accurate, reliable navigation in remote areas where mobile internet coverage is either poor or nonexistent, this app functions persistently well and is so functional that I no longer use a traditional dedicated GPS device..Prior to my explorations I plot my intended routes and various way points on google maps or Oziexplorer and them simply transfer the data to this app. Accuracy is outstandingly accurate and the beauty of it all is that it requires no internet. If you don't use this app then I hope you carry a ERB ...

Great app. Took a while to find favourite features after your major upgrade but now worked it out. Use constantly when travelling and tracking is useful when bush walking so you know you’re returning on the correct path. Have told many friends about to travel overseas and they have greatly been impressed as well, especially being able to use offline.

11.0.0 update downloaded maps useless. This WAS one of my absolute favourite apps until today’s update. Every week I use all the offline maps I have downloaded - I travel to places without mobile signal - but now my downloaded Australian maps are USELESS. All now require mobile data to download any detail at all. Australia has some remote places and this app could get me out of a tricky place but I now have no confidence in it at all. It was my survival back up when out bush walking as well. Now no longer. I have recommended this (previously) amazing free offline app to many, but now I’m very sad, frustrated and unhappy with update, and I can’t roll it back. It’s like losing a best friend.

Question that I need answered. I would like to be able to get in touch with these people rather than ask my question by feedback but that seems unavailable. Question: I paid for add removal on my ipad. When I attempt to manage my subsctiption on my phone it says there is no subscription. So does this mean I have to subscribe on both devices separately?? Also can I suggest you make your instructions on how to use the app a lot slower & stop that moving screen in the non video part. Those of us who are not so tech savvy have to actually read & have time to comprehend the directions. I’m not stupid but I can’t understand how to work these maps other than the very basic stuff.

Now wants money to access maps I have used. I have used this App for years. I have tagged places all over the world that I have photographed and place I want to photograph and have made notes on the best conditions. Now Maps Me wants me to pay to access these maps as I have downloaded more than 10 maps! I can’t open the pins to recover the information I spent hours researching each place! I was given no warning that they were changing the rules and making users pay to use their App. I didn’t even get to choose which 10mins I was allowed to “keep” using! Really poor customer service! If I could give ZERO stars I would!!!!!!

Must have companion. Have been using for more than 5 years and in 10 countries. Cannot fault. Helped/saved us many times. We plan our trips by saving transport spots, accommodation and sites we want to visit. Frequently use the routing options. We share our bookmarks by exporting between about 4 devices so we can use our phones for directions and have all our places of travel on our iPads.

Pos- Don't ware your time!. I thought about trying a new offline maps. Never used anything so bad. Won't find a street address when I'm connected to the internet at home. When I search a street with the suburb it show the closest first and not the suburb I put. What is the point of an app that is to be used when you have no data, but can't even find the right suburb, let alone an address. And the route it eventually found is the worst and slowest one. Maybe it's just because it's Australia and no one gives two stuffs about doing a good job for a small market. Deleting.

a travel necessity. absolute life saver! used in japan with all the streets and underground travel. Was great at tracking location, however sometimes there was glitching, but this was minor. loved how it didn't need wifi and worked beautifully when routing and finding places. if the maps doesn't find a specific location just search on google and personalise your map instead. app was very handy, used everyday!

A travel must!!!!. We are from Australia and we have been traveling around England & Europe but are currently living in Spain. This app has been a lifesaver on many occasions for us. I can download maps, pin attractions in the towns we are visiting & refer to it while walking around places while off line. It has got us to where we needed to be when our Sat-Nav has dropped out. We have used it as our main reference when booking accommodation as we can see exactly where the hotels are in relation to the sights we are wanting to visit, plus the added bonus when connected to wifi we can view all hotels available in that area. We wouldn't be without it.

Great Mapping - not phone signal dependent. Awesome way to find your way around the planet. The fact that you don’t have to be connected to a phone network to use it is great. From finding a hotel location in Stockholm to making sure a Russian taxi driver isn’t taking you to Siberia instead of your chosen museum, it just works. Highly recommended and currently being used to find my way around Sydney Australia

Offline maps saved me many times. My main gps navigation failed due to system failure and operator error a few times. It is a godsend to have offline maps on the phone with path planning for when my main gps system is not working as it should, and it is not using phone data constantly.

Excellent for Bike Riding. Used it offline for 6 weeks in France on an iPad held with Velcro to my handlebar bag. Did direct us onto some dodgy tracks and unnecessary diversions but overall was excellent. Useful features are the automatic rerouting if you take a wrong turn and route planning without an internet connection. Only criticism is the interface for planning a route is not intuitive. It should have “from” and “to” boxes like most other apps.

Irritating constant repeated pop-up.. The maps are fine, but I just tried to update 4 maps. I had the same pop-up appear repeatedly every few seconds after I repeatedly closed it. “Travel Essentials Travel Kit.” Update: This problem no longer seems to happen. The app is quite good, but not perfect. I’m sure it will continue to develop, and hopefully become more user friendly.

It crashed. It crashed when updating maps and would not open so had u To uninstall and reinstall and download maps again. Fortunately I had bookmarks on another device so was able to airdrop. Otherwise generally find it a useful tool as has walking trails and other points of inr Terse to combine with other material to plan great trips. Would use Google maps to navigate in larger cities as this one does not tell you what lane to get into nor about tolls but useful navigation in other areas

Great App - Does everything it says. Perfect for travel, I have used this app in Japan, NZ and the Middle East. Download the maps you meet while wifi then away you go. Has all the points on interests etc and you get turn by turn directions for walking, driving or public transport. Great App

Bread crumbs. 1. So simple and effective. Overnight taxi in Egypt in middle on nowhere between the Red Sea and the Nile with security post all along the way and could keep posting our location to family when in GPS range people could see where we had been and where we were going. Even hiking map allows going back when lost because of breadcrumbs. Unlike Google Maps direction arrow is instant and correct. Just get it. Mac only! 2. Please place names are too smal;l to read and then when you make the map larger the font further reduces. 3. Downloads are sooooo slooooow - 10 minutes for a 100mb file? Love it!

Used to be great off-line maps choice. Looking for another product since limit of 10 maps within paid subscription introduced recently - Australia only downloaded 10 of 11 maps after deleting and reinstall. Still plagued by low download speeds and downloaded more likely to fail. Have used for years and loved the ability to place pins on places of interest. Disappointed with changes.

Number of maps eg 10. I have been using maps me for years and will soon delete as the new feature of only 10 maps allowed at one time is not very useable as it rates regions of a country as one map eg Australia is 6 maps it has been a great product until the feature was enforced I am soon going overseas an for the first time will no be using Maps me

Better than a printed map. Went to France with some excellent AA maps - never used them as this app is so much better as it tells you where you are on a map and direction. GPS is great and this enhances it. Wife would give different directions to GPS and she proved to be better - shortest route is not always the best!

Used to be great. I used to love this app. I used it all over the world for many years. As a person who gets lost easily or really gave me freedom to wander in stage town confident I could come back to my hotel. But now it seems to get stuck and freeze, so much so that it have been unusable . I haven’t been able to use it for the last few years… I hope this update has fixed the issue as it is a great app and I have recommended it to many people.

Latest update was a disaster but developers have listened. Initially, this major update 2.0 but it was a total disaster. To their credit the developers have listened and responded. Missing functionality has been restored and the app is responding not freezing, as it was with the initial upgrade. Kudos to the developers for their response and restoring this to the excellent app that it has always been.

Used to be the best offline maps, but horrific design choices have ruined it. No complaints about the mapping data, this is just a platform to display open source map data. This used to be an efficient, lightweight, good user experience. I’ve used it for many years and recommended it to heaps of people. The last few updates have completely ruined that. Why on earth does route planning now take up half the screen? I want to see the map not a bunch of empty space surrounding meaningless descriptions of weigh points. I can’t even hide that menu like you use to be able, trying to dismiss it cancels the route entirely. Buttons have grown in size astronomically, maybe the designers think they look prettier but they are so much worse to use. Click on an object on the map and you get another pop up screen that takes up absurd amounts of useful space, this used to take up maybe a 5th of the screen to display two lines of information and had identical functionality, now you can’t even fit all the buttons in that window despite the same two lines of information taking up twice as much space. Design should complement functionality, not just add useless blank spaces everywhere. Look at how you did it a year ago, it was so much better.

Don't get lost again!. Set up Map me to travel around Scandinavia. It is fantastic. With the GPS setup it is better and easier than the in car navigation system. Lost in a new city? Turn it on, the little arrow appears and with a couple of quick taps you are heading in the right direction. We are seniors and we manage it easily. Thank you for an App that does what it says.

Used to be good. Switched to Organic Maps.. Initially this was an excellent app. Easy clean interface and surprisingly responsive support (eg for resolving a super-sluggish zooming problem when using KML files with over 10,000 track points). It’s been my go to navigation app for years and I’ve loaded hundreds of KML files for tracks and pins. Maps are very easy to load. So all that’s good. However… it has become bloated with ads and useless clutter and worst of all does insidious tracking. Back in 2017 I found a log file from which I was able to extract a complete route of a multi-thousand kilometre cycle journey. Literally every single instance of where I’d checked the route was stored indefinitely. Recently I have discovered Organic Maps which is exactly like MM less all the garbage. It imports the same KML files that I have crafted for MM without alteration. So there’s no learning curve or barrier to entry. Happy to have switched.

Good but could be better. I’ve used this app extensively around UK and Europe and it works well - except in areas where there are narrow roads (Scotland, Ireland, Etc) it always directs you over the shortest/quickest route). This can put you into some “interesting” places. The ability to select the road class(es) that you are happy to drive on would make this app unbeatable. It would also save a few friendships/marriages.

New Glitch on iPad. This is by far the best App out there. I have been using it for many years. Not needed the internet after installing maps is a huge bonus. After the new update I have not been able to search for a please after typing the first letter it just spins and spins leaving me to shut down left and not able to find a location. I ended up resorting to typing the location in another place and had paste it in the search bar. Not ideal and very time consuming. Could you please look into this. Thanks your continued supporter.

A must have!. Travelling from Australia and this app was amazing! Saved us travelling around Cuba where there is no reception from any other outside country’s network or any real good tourist maps. We also used it for the Route 1 coastal drive from LAX to San Francisco and all around San Fran. It had all major attractions and always directed you the quickest route all without having to have any internet or wifi connectivity. High recommend for any traveller.

Free and you can use it anywhere. Just be sure to download the map while you have service. Then when you don’t have service you can access the map. Super handy for when you’re overseas. Maps me never change a thing you’re perfect!

What the hell has happened to this?. Some years ago I used this app on overseas trips. It was very handy to have offline maps downloaded. After not using it for a long time (while still having the app on my phone), I’ve come back to an assault of messages about Pro options combined with telling me I only have 10 free maps left, but trying to make me start by downloading a city I don’t want or need. So far I’m stumped about clearing the maps I used on previous trips and selecting what I’d want for my next trip, and nearly every message about a pro “feature” suggests that the makers of the app have become so focused on adding bells and whistles that it’s unclear whether this app will still do the basic job. So many computer programs fall into this trap.

Fabulous App. Have used this several times in Bali as well as Canada & Japan, best travel map app there is - in my opinion! Especially liked it downloaded on the phone, used it as a travelling talking map when driving to unknown places, brilliant, easy to use, accurate, - just type in your destination and off you go!

How is this a real thing?. I just downloaded this app expecting the worst like all the other 'offline maps' that I've tried over the past few days. BUT THIS ONE IS AMAZING! Maps are easy to find and download, they take up minimal space (most maps are equivalent of one album in your music library if that puts it into perspective) and are completely reliable when I turned off all data roaming, all cellular data and put the phone into airplane mode just to be sure. Location services still work and therefore you can have a play-by-play without the internet! Can't wait to drive through Europe and Africa with this app. I don't know how there are still profiting, ridiculously expensive GPS companies like Uniden and TomTom when there are apps out there like this one. Thank you so much to the people who developed this app. Fantastic!!!

Town Names. We use maps me often when travelling. One suggestion to improve the app. The town names need to be in a larger font, bold font or underlined so that they are more noticeable when we are reading the maps. Thank you, Geoff McLean, Ballarat. I would appreciate you making a special effort to enlarge the town/city names, maybe print them in color so that they stand out better! Regards, Geoff I have been looking out for this suggestion of mine regarding town names but have not seen any changes. Come on I think it’s a great idea. When can we see this idea being used on your maps? Geoff McLean

Some great features, but go with Google maps. Doesn’t work in landscape mode on M1 iPad. Frustrating since that’s the orientation I have it with a keyboard attached. Massive amount of work needs to be done on all the dialogue boxes on the side, the pop up and disappear and you need to start again constantly for the task you’re doing. You’ve got to work out how to allow downloading maps in the background. I’m on the brightest iPad screen setting, the maps are so dark. Heaps of detail on the map, they’re great. Can I share my pins and mail with someone? Doesn’t look like I can. Can’t sign in to the same account on 2 devices and see your pins etc. what’s the point of an account???!!! No, you don’t need my phone number.

Maps with Me. I travel to different parts of the world every 3 months from Asia in the Southern Hemisphere to Europe in the northern hemisphere. Have been using this app for more than 7 years now and it is excellent. Currently residing in Burkina Faso and use this app for my weekend exploration trips in my time off... Recommended..! Problem is now they have changed my subscription and charging me more than Tomtom app. So I have cancelled my app and deleted it. A shame as it was a good option to have on my phone as I am a global traveller

Can’t always search for a street address in maps you’ve downloaded. Great GPS app, only two point. First, is that the search doesn’t find an address, it only seems to find points & places of interest ie hotel names (I wonder if development is funded from that as advertising). Second, I would be that some of the controls and functionality isn’t that intuitive but it not of great concern. I would initially give 5 stars but have held one back for those point ... would still highly recommend

Works Fine Until It’s Needed. I’ve been using it regularly for the first time in Europe because I haven’t got mobile data here. It works fine, until your a distance into the route and make a wrong turn, at this point it has hung every time. The app has to be killed and then you have to reset the route and it will then after an age reroute. Exactly the wrong thing. Are the beginning of the trip it seems to reroute more easily, but after an hour. Completely useless. The turn navigation is also pretty average for highway driving. Told me to keep straight on the Highway and complement missed that the Highway split. Will tell you to trim right, but miss that the highway splits and then has two exits. This last bit can be overcome by carefully looking at the map , the road signs and using your judgement. It would also be handy if it told which exit of a highway to take, because it just says exit right, with no indication in which direction, exit etc you are supposed to take.

Undocumented changes limit functionality. App is ok, better than other offline mapping products I’ve used, but the developer is not honest about the changes they are making in the version history, such as a recent change to implement a hard limit of 10 downloaded maps in the non Pro version, so after app update I’m suddenly well over the limit and can’t download anymore unless I upgrade to Pro. The version history doesn’t say they implemented a limit, and in fact most of the versions have the same notes, so they just a copy and paste from previous version, which makes no sense and means the developer is not being honest about the changes they are making. Not good enough 🤬

Not really sure. I don’t know how well the app operates in other nations but for me i only use this app in countries that have poor infrastructure that can’t provide wifi with a cheap enough price. And i did use it in Vietnam. Got to say the map can use a lot of improvement with the search option. The app probably can’t update fully enough to have everything with a name on it so I suggest you make it so that the search can find intersections between 2 roads or 2 streets. That will really save us a huge amount of time. I give it 3* because it functions as it suppose to be but it need improvement to be 4* and you simply can’t have a perfect 5* without bias.

This app works awesome!. This app saved me on so many occasions. Just download for where you’ll be ahead of time and you’ll be able to see where you’re at. You can drop a pin on the address of where you’re staying, something you want to visit, etc. and it can lead you to it. It sometimes had some issues with helping us find public transport, but I didn’t even realise this was a feature until nearly the end of my trip so when it did work it was a pleasant surprise. Sometimes it also seemed confused when streets were very small (in cities like Genoa, where the streets are more like paths) and it can have trouble if you are amongst a lot of tall buildings. But I would highly recommend this app for anyone travelling!

Beats All Other Contenders. This is the best maps app out there. None of the notoriously incorrect navigation to be found on either Google or Apple's contribution to the market. It works offline (using satellite coverage) with accuracy and speed, and shows tracks as well as major roads. Have used it for the past five years in some very remote areas of Australia. Can't rate it highly enough.

Non existent survey. Every time I open the app I have a full page splash screen asking me to do a survey. I also get a push notification appear asking me to do a survey. There’s a notification on the wallet that pops up the full page splash page for the survey. But the survey doesn’t exist! When I click on the button to do the survey, an alert message pops up to say there’s no survey available. This means I get bugged multiple times to do a survey I cannot complete which is quite frustrating.

Such a great app with two recommendations. Have used this for some years now, it accompanies me on all my travels and now I also use it for work - being able to import and export tracks / lines/ polygons is very useful. I use it a lot now for tracking off road motorcycle routes - I’ll import a track created on my gps watch, Mount it on the bike and use it as a point of reference. Works well. Offline functionality is one of its best features. I do have two asks please - no 1/ it would be so good if there was browser compatibility to view routes/ save pins in the cloud - I keep losing my data with phone swaps - yes I should back up but sometimes a phone dies or a phone gets swapped out without asking (cheers apple). No 2 - how about an aerial base map? Honestly I’d pay for that option - and the one above .... thx and keep up the good work :)

Fantastic to see where you really are!. Maps Me was introduced to us by a friend in the travel industry and we have NOT been disappointed. It is useful on and off road including bushwalking as it shows roads and walking paths! Just as fantastic in Scandinavia, Britain and at home in Australia. We’ve even got our kids using it!

Helped us navigate New Caledonia. We were so happy that our accommodation provider recommended this app. It worked without us having to pay for data usage back in our home country (AUSTRALIA) as it works without an internet connection. It even helped us locate ourselves on walking tracks!!! Will now try it in New Zealand...

Please change the way you show elevation. I actually really like the app. However, in the latest update when planning a route between two points say for walking or bike riding rather than showing the actual elevation change you now get the highest and lowest point above sea level. This means you need to use the map to try and workout what the actual elevation changes will be. Any chance you could go back to showing the actual elevation gain and loss for a given route? Or show both? Or give an option?

DOES NOT WORK ON IPAD. KEEPS FREEZING. Hello, After writing 3 emails, waiting 6 months for a reply I have given up, but as the title suggests the app keeps on freezing when using an IPad. I’ve tried everything deleting the app, re starting etc etc. While it works well on the IPhone, for some reason it doesn’t on the IPad and the company will not answer any emails. It is such a shame as in general the app is fantastic. But its not much use if: A. You can only do one thing, then the app freezes, and you have to close the app totally and re start it. B. If the company will not even communicate with the public when there are problems to help the betterment of the app.

Great App!. This is a fantastic App for traveling overseas, using maps offline is easier than google maps. I tested how much data was used, downloading the maps will obviously use data but actually using the maps uses no data which is what you want when exploring in other countries. I would have given 5 stars however I have found the voice guidance hit and miss, sometimes works sometimes doesn’t and I have checked all the settings on the phone and the App. It does not have any recognition of my street, completely missing off the map.

They Broke It Through Greed. The app worked fine in the past with unlimited offline map downloads. Now they charge $100/year for that feature. And if you already have more than 10 “free” maps downloaded from prior to the change in policy, you cannot use this app to look at any other place in the world with having to delete your own downloads. The app has now lost its number one feature. Another app trying to squeeze money on a monthly basis from their users.

Wanted me to go the wrong way around a roundabout lol. Route choices are far from the best. Tested it in my hometown and it tried to send me the wrong way around a large major city roundabout lol!! Also, it took a non-logical route you would never take if you knew the town. Tried a common dirt road I’ve driven plenty of times (50km/h) and it said it would take 8hrs to drive 15km. Double lol. Functionality is nice though. Wouldn’t rely upon it in Australia though for above reasons. Google maps has offline maps and going back to them.

Tellement pratique. Application à avoir dans un voyage! Au portugal, la map était pas mal complète. Génial!

Maps.me 2 is 2 fail.. Please bring back the old version.

Great App. Has saved me more times than I could count. I use it while travelling all over the world. It has never failed me.

Review. We’ve used maps.me in many countries and find it to be an invaluable tool wherever we go. It’s our go to navigation app….

Pro?. Pro? Good job ruining what used to be a great app. Edit: the app is so bad now I had to knock it down to one star and cancel my old subscription, it’s really sad to see nice things get ruined.

Used to be great. They're trying to shove the paying sub down your throat. What used to be free with occasional ad is now a "pro" feature. Essentially gutting anything useful out of the app. Feels like I'm going to have to find a new offline map app

Disappointed in this app waste of money. When I bought the upgrade, it said I had three days to cancel in settings. I cannot find where in settings it is to cancel. The app is not working properly. I don’t want to be stuck with another useless app…..please cancel my upgrade.

Excellent. Excellent site surtout sans wifi et aucune donné cellulaire excellent

Sadly have removed the app. After years of use, Maps.Me is now too unpleasant to use with the obnoxious pressure to go pro. A sad farewell.

Sharing bookmarks feature doesn’t work. Great app, but the feature to share bookmarks with limited access doesn’t work anymore. It says file upload failed. Also the public access sharing of bookmarks doesn’t work.

Fabulous. Works great for me. A big help. And no cell reception required in the remote areas of BC.

Inutile. J’ai supprimé l’app. A part vouloir se mettre à jour tout le temps ,ne sert à rien ,quand vient le temps de s’en servir ,il trouve pas une adresse .INUTILE .

Great App!. So great when you’re travelling and you don’t have data. This app is a lifesaver!

Subscription not usable on new iphone. New iphone .. will not sign me in as original account holder and use the subscription i paid for. Beware

Used to be great. This used to be my favourite offline maps.. but now if you have more than 1 city- they make u pay money for it with subscriptions.. i just want some maps downloaded to my phone for places i travel to so i can quickly check the streets without using data.. not worth anymore, so sad :(

Way too expensive. It used to be great then they got greedy. $60 a year! I would pay $10 no problem. So they get nothing from me.

Greedy developer. App is no longer the maps.me we all loved years ago. Ruined by greedy developers.

Audio doesn’t work sometimes. It was a good before but when the PRO kicked in, the app didn’t work so well as the audio which tell me when to turn or how far to go , sometimes work and sometimes doesn’t and it happens randomly. I have tried restarting, even stopped the car and restarting the car entirely, sometimes get back on and sometimes don’t. I really need to audio to help me when I am driving. If keep happening, then I have to find another GPS app for directions

Love this app. Travelled Europe and North America, I just love this app. Data free GPS tracker.

Wow. This is so nice I DONT NEED WIFI

They Ruined This App. This app was amazing. I honestly used it daily. I spent years travelling around the world, meticulously bookmarking all of my favourite hikes, places I’ve stayed, restaurants, etc. And now none of them are accessible. I literally can’t zoom in to see any of the bookmarks I’ve created because they are all hidden behind a paywall now. It’s infuriating. My cousin is going to South Korea (where I lived for 3 years), and I can’t see any of the places I pinned to share with them. I recommend this app to EVERYONE back in the day. Seriously got me out of so many jams when I didn’t have data or cell reception. Probably saved my life. And now it’s garbage, unless you’re cool with shelling out a chunk of change every year. There were always a bunch of good offline map programs that you had to shell out for - that’s what made maps.me different. Now it’s just like the rest of them. I’m sad, infuriated, frustrated, and annoyed. You NEED to remove all the reviews that were made when this app was free, because I feel like it is completely misrepresenting what your app is now.

10 maps limit. This used to be a great app, how many of us in the travel industry got around the world without Wi-Fi/data. Now new users are limited to only 10 maps and the latest update only allows you to update 10 maps regardless of the number grandfathered previously. This app now stinks and forces me to download Google maps off-line.

LOCATION. 459 Hugel Ave is NOT Available! Building is 5 years old???? Nik

The most reliable offline maps for phone.. Get ready for the adventures ahead. Preparations are important, download the maps do the points of visit during and good luck.

Now just a money grab. It is with great dismay that I am writing this review. I’ve been using maps.me for years on end and across the world, made a plethora of contributions and edits to the maps, and it was a great all round offline map for navigation and venturing out into the wilds. Now the so-called pro version has a monthly or yearly subscription, which for $7 is not a cheap feat. Moreover, the 10 complimentary free maps is a joke. It used to be that each province served as one whole map; now each area of the province, and major cities. serves as one whole map. Very shady and dishonest tactics aimed at generating profit unfortunately.

Rip off time has begun!!!. I have used this for years and it was a really good program, didn’t require being on-line to be useful. Not always accurate but always free. Now the new name for this should be Maps.Fee. I will be removing this as soon as I can and I recommend that you DO NOT DOWNLOAD unless you have lots of money to throw away! Dear Developer….don’t bother answering with the cookie-cutter, boiler plate crap you usually add to any criticism. Nobody believes you!

Was great. Now the open add sits full screen for 5 seconds before giving you a close option. Geez I hate going back to Gaia but guess were being forced that way.

Cancel subscription.. Not working for me. It gives different directions all the time. Very confusing. Please unsubscribe me. Thank you

Unlimited no more. I bought this app a few years ago, I work in the airline industry and travel extensively. What I purchased was unlimited map downloads. Now, I no longer get unlimited without a subscription?? Not what I paid for.

developer really?. everybody calls this app bad cuz of someone that changed it and The only thing the developer can do is cry about it

Super app for travel I’ve been using it for years. I’ve been using this app for years travelling across the globe, but mostly I use it at home when I am travelling in the remote areas. No cell service needed. GPS satellites works all the time wherever I am.

Great app - use on airplane mode. Doesn’t use data if on airplane mode GREAT app for travelling

Used to be the perfect app. The app used to be the best for travel and offline maps. I was using it since 2015. Unfortunately, they recently limited the number of free offline maps which is the main use of this app compared to google maps or other application. Should definitively review this decision as you will loose a lot of your users. Add advertisements for every map downloaded or other means of monetization but don't limit the number of maps.

Can’t download maps. Paid $60.00 in Belize and another $50 and Maps.me is not letting me download anything

Terrible. This is a terrible driving map. It constantly wants you to exit the highway just to go right back on. You can’t trust it when it says to exit because it always wants you to exit. If you have lots of time and gas then this is the app for you.

A shadow of its former self. This used to be an excellent app. You could visit a city like Paris, zoom in on a landmark and get all sorts of useful information about it, along with further links. Sort of like having a tour book in your hand. It was also possible to purchase reasonably priced add-ons like walking tours that would display a route with recommended stops and info about each. All of this is gone, despite the fact that guides are mentioned in their write-up. And don’t bother to contact the developer who bought Maps.me. All you’ll get is a form response that promises much but delivers little. Too bad this app changed hands. It was a sweet tool once.

Good. ✊🏼

Best map especially if on airplane mode. This map works amazing in any country. Once you have access to wifi, it recognizes which country you are in and you can download the local map and then use it on airplane mode. It’s amazing.

wrong address. The first address i entered and the map keeps showing me the wrong place. Both Airbnb and google map show a location over a kilometre away. Their location matches the street name. Maps.me location doesn't match the location name.

Used to be good. This used to be a really great application but now, every time I open it, there is a banner urging me to upgrade to “Pro “ that basically makes the app useless. If it were a one time purchase that would be okay and worth it but a monthly subscription- not a chance.

Greedy company. Terrible UX

Mapme. Excellente application. Fortement recommandée!

Noooot !!. J’ai changé mon avis de 5 étoile vers 1 étoile. Depuis que Maps.me a été vendu… et que supposément c’était « Open source », ce logiciel a perdu tout intérêt de ma part depuis que c’est rendu payant. Maintenant Maps.me est à éviter. Un cas d’abus … c’est un cas parfait comme celui-ci. Utilisez Organic Maps à la place et faite un don !

Not the same and less information. Some POEs disappear. No adresses and categories of commerce for some. Cannot edit them. Not very happy with 2.0. Hope there will be upgraded with the features that we added before and more new ones.

Was fantastic, now a scam. Stay away!. This was a fantastic app, cross platform off-line. Paid for the premium version. As we are leaving on a trip, they deleted all of my maps and want a huge annual fee to get them back. Was trapped in the wilderness with extremely limited cellular coverage, and no map. Complete betrayal. Every screen, click, move it nags you to pay $70 PER YEAR to continue.

Thanks. Accurate application easy to use

Greedy scammers. What once used to be free for lots of year is now a subscription either monthly or annually! Really? 10 free maps! Are you kidding me? I so hope every user will give you 1 star rating! Money grab!

We can’t have anything nice. EDIT: February 2024 - Not recommended As per usual, what was once an excellent, vital resource is now a money grab. And not only that, but every single time you open it, you’ll be pushed to pay for it no matter how many times you close the ad. 10 free maps is an absolute joke, especially when every province/state is broken up into a bunch of different little maps. I definitely won’t be recommending this app to friends for their travels anymore, and I highly recommend anyone who reads this find something else. My use of it will be a lot more limited from now on, which is a massive shame considering I’ve spent the last decade researching, double checking locations, and compiling bookmarks for thousands of hiking/camping and travel locations for which offline maps are vital, since I venture into areas with no cell service often. I know this app used to be vital for the travel industry all over the world. Previously, I have seen it recommended to visitors on tourism websites in different countries, but I doubt they will continue to recommend an overly expensive paid app with laughably limited free maps. Do not recommend.

Carte payante. Application géniale. Je lui ai mis 4 étoiles car du jour au lendemain , devenue payante et perte de mes cartes déjà faites

Aruba. You need to adjust your map. When traveling from Aruba’s Natural Bridge, you CAN NOT get to the Blackstone Beach coming in from the northwest. The road has been blocked because of private property issues. Your app took us down a 30 minute path only to find out we couldn’t get there. We could see where we were trying to go but the road is terminated. Then we had to travel back the 30 minutes to get back to a route that would navigate us around the closed road. Apparently everyone else on the island is aware of the closure. Other than that the app worked great. It just cost us a lot of time. We never did get to Blackstone Beach.

DOWNLOAD THIS APP. I’m traveling in Paris right now and didn’t want to turn on my data, so I was looking for a good maps app to use while here. Well folks look no further. This app has very detailed and accurate maps, great walking directions, the ability to search for different things, and the great this is I haven’t had to turn off airplane mode the entire time I’ve been here. If you are going to Europe and don’t want to spend money on international data, this app is 100% the best offline maps app out there!

Used to be close to perfect. I have been using the app since 2016. I liked how simple it was to use and that I could download lots of map data without filling up my phone. It was also free and offered the tools I needed for travel and long bike rides and nothing too technical that other paid services offer. Recently with the pro version being released, I’ve been limited to the amount of map data allowed on basic. I will not be paying for the pro version as much more powerful mapping tools are available for the same cost.

Horrible changes. The new version 11 is horrible. It seems like most of the former philosophy can been abandoned. The tool is now very slow and non-reactive. It takes ages to gain online access - which is now apparently required for many of the new and unnecessary features. Oofline maps only contain incomplete information - this was much better before. Map download is now awckward - apparently new sub folders with maps have been created. One needs to go to NOSTALGIC to see a decent distinction between main roads and smaller paths. This has once been a wonderful tool for offine navigation, precise and more informed than others. Now it is a gimmick for shopping and money making. Shame on you.

Best offline map!. Best offline map! You may get into a trail head with Apple map or Google map, but they might not able to navigate you back home, because you are not online when you start to go back home. Download the maps for the whole state or even possible nearby states. Storage needed is nothing compared to the videos recorded during the trip. Smaller than Google offline map.

Excellent for a free app. Due to COVID-19 I have had to go to a bare bones cell phone plan and I have used this several times to get home from various places. I use the iPhone maps app to download directions on WiFi at home and the use this app to get me most of the way home. No, I can’t tell it to take me home but I can tell it to take me to my local grocery store and once I am that close to home I can just take the route I know. So far I haven’t had to turn on cellular data and use the iPhone maps app to get headed in the right direction.

Good to have downloaded maps, non intuitive enough. I appreciate that it will preload map data. It would be nice if it had overhead photo views of the maps even if only when connected to the internet. Direction and routing is frustrating to use since one has to save the destination first with a star. Then routing between two “starred” points is not intuitive to get selected. No way appears to be able to “flip” them either. But overall, if this program continues to be developed, it should be good.

Indispensable on a trip especially using no data. This app has saved me so many times. I don’t know how it does it but it can find me anywhere even with my data turned off. Even on airplane mode. It finds landmarks. It routes them. It is a compass. I can watch us walking down the street. And we can find where we need to go. Indispensable app for trips especially outside one’s data range if trying to save money by being offline.

So useful!. So I’m not sure exactly how they make money, but this app has the best privacy policy I’ve seen for a navigational app. I hate how much apps like google maps track you and gather a ton of unnecessary personal information. Plus you can use this one offline (download the maps first!) which is super handy when you’re traveling out of the country or in areas with bad service. It’s free, useful, and seems like it’s from a good company. What more could you want?

Travel Essential. I have visited more than 70 countries, and this maps app is an absolute life-saver! It helps when you have no internet connection, when other online maps don’t know the route, when you need to find good sightseeing spot on a picturesque road, when you need to find the district with lots of restaurants or cafes, when you need to go hiking outdoors, e.g. in some national park (the app shows pedestrian trails). Just don’t forget to download offline maps before going abroad :)

No longer free. This app was great because I could download offline maps and not worry about connectivity. The app was free, now it is not. 10 maps to download before you have to “subscribe” to pro… screw subscription models and companies that switch to them. In the end they offer what was already available for a premium price and poor support. Especially considering the one issue with this app is if you don’t keep your maps updated when you go offline, you can’t use them. Perhaps they fixed that, perhaps they’ll have that as a premium “feature”, either way I no longer use their app and won’t return.

None better than this. Great detail, often more useful than (even when available) Apple maps. More attractive than Google maps. Takes up very little space. Enough landmarks and restaurants/hotels to help identify different kinds of neighborhoods. Have used the app in upscale cities, back country wayfinding, third world ratty places and have not found any reason to complain. Caution: as with ALL mapping ‘ware, don’t bet your life on it. Have found some places marked way off base.

Essential tool for travel, trails, & navigation. Is this app still maintained? I have not received app or maps updates in several months. Cannot log into OSM account from app. Map tiles when traveling in Oman did not render properly. The app is essential tool when traveling any where in the world for offline use, trails, services, & points of interest. I save in the app trails that I want to walk + all the points I want to visit for easy reference.

Lifesaver when on a trip to Berlin!. I saw this maps app recommended on TripAdvisor, so I downloaded a map of Berlin for a recent trip there, and lemme tell you, it never failed me!!! I had very limited WiFi access in Germany, so I relied on this map app heavily. I was not able to download a Google offline map for some reason. By this app gave me no technical difficulties whatsoever. I found restaurants to eat at in Berlin every night based on the map from this app. Highly recommended!!!!!

Sometimes good, sometimes bad. I have found that this is a great app to use in Europe when you don't have internet connection. It can make finding your way, on foot, though medieval town and city centres so much easier. True in Cairo as well. BUT, i REALLY wish that it would be better at identifying the NAME of streets when youare looking at a more close up of the map. A major failing is when using in the US in highways. It will take you off every highway exit (off ramp) and then immediately put you back on to the same highway on the first on-ramp. Crazy and frustrating.

Best off-line navigation! With Bugs!!!. This is great for trekking across country. Follows your every move while being offline and can track your path the last 24 hours. But, while driving to some spots, even traveling between two large cities with avoid dirt roads I have found some interesting paths that are supposed to be paved. No problem for me, but no way to edit or warn others that there is a 12 inch plus drop off as the road ends or to designate a narrow 3 wooden board wide pedestrian bridge that’s shown on the map as a paved road.

Can't bring back the list of search results.. When I search for a starbucks for example: A list comes up with all the shops. I select one from the list and it displays it on a map. After I select one from the list, I can't go back to the list of search results. Please fix! And also, if possible, when in search results list view, to include a compass arrows in each row which will point towards all these particular locations. Just like the compass arrow that shows up on the bottom right corner after I select an item from search results.

Where has this program been all my life.. I have been looking for an app for your offline nav for a while. I was satisfied with Google maps offline features till I figured out it can't download about 50% of the world. This program solves all of that. Another person reviewing had said that it had no ads or in app purchases. This is inaccurate, but the ads are very unnoticeable, and for a price of $4 a year or seems like a good deal to support an app like this.

Unusable in Australia. I love this app - when it works. But lately it has been completely useless because it always refuses to display the current map, saying there is a newer map available. Even if I’ve downloaded that map in the last few months, which means the older map is still 99% correct. Most of the time when this happens I have no cell service so it’s impossible to download the latest update, which I don’t want anyway. I can’t believe they don’t make the update optional and let you use the map you have. Worthless. Don’t bother.

Great once you learn how to use it!. This map has better detail than Google maps so it’s easier to read streets and use it more like a paper map. The navigation pointer also turns as you move, showing which direction you are facing. However using the map offline is sometimes frustrating, waiting for it to “catch up” with where you are. And sometimes it can’t find a place you type in which Google maps finds easily, so then I have to switch mapping sources.

Very simple and useful. Very useful app for offline maps. I have 2 suggestions: 1- add feature map so that when moving we can see the orography or any other features. No need to be very heavy map, even as background. 2- the recorded track if possible to be saved directly in the application itself with the ability to share them later. Thanks for the useful and reliable app Hilal

Search doesn’t work. Annoying warnings.. This app is becoming more and more of a marketing platform, while obvious improvement requests by users are simply shunned. The infantile location services warning, for example, has been plaguing the app for years now, and for absolutely no good reason. Despite many reviews calling to remove this and despite writing the devs on several occasions, this silliness persists. Search, the second most important feature after graphical map display, is nearly useless. It displays results that are hundreds of kilometers away AND don’t match the typed term, above those that are clearly there, are a better match, and are way closer to you. This has been pointed out to the devs a hundred times, and with every other update they claim to “fix” or “improve” the search, yet nothing. Zero progress. Instead they are working on monetizing this thing and displaying ads related to places and businesses. Typical money grabbing team with zero regard for the end user. Stay away. Five star reviews are probably from their own employees and friends.

Always Evolving & Helpful. I’ve used this app from time to time over the years in United States and in Europe. Always helpful and a great backup if you don’t have local information. I am a bit disappointed that I lost all my bookmarks on one of the last updates. There is a backup option now. (Still exploring latest update and redesign. I do know that the grey text is very difficult to read. Usability of navigation should be as easy as possible for everyone)

This app saved my trip. Dark, rainy night in Palermo. Car GPS was not working and we lost the caravan of cars we were following. I thought we were doomed, but I pulled up this app and the downloaded map also included gps! We were able to navigate our way to our destination and my family was saved from becoming street people left to wander the streets forever!

Excellent App. I frequently travel across the globe and have used your App without any difficulty. I usually download map(s) of any country/city before I start traveling. The App has been so helpful in finding my ways, destinations and areas while traveling by car, train or on foot. It is very accurate and the best offline app I ever found. Thank you for your hard work to create such an App.

Love this app. Love this app. I use it on vacation and it keeps us from getting lost when there is no WiFi. The maps do take up a lot of memory, but I don’t care about that because I usually have memory to spare. It gives you walking, driving, bicycling and transit estimated travel times. It allows you to mark and name your own places, such as ‘our hotel’ or ‘flea market’ or ‘dress shop’. It has saved us so many times that I can’t say enough good things about it. We use it extensively in Europe and at home.

Remarkably accurate and rich with info. We downloaded and used the Cuba version of the app, given the issues with internet access. It was excellent - always at the ready with nearby cafes, restaurants and historical sites, complete with user ratings and reviews. Super accurate, and was somehow able to know my location using some sort of location aware system even though my data was completely off. I used it with Cuban Taxi drivers who didn’t exactly know their way to certain addresses. Great tool!

Record Your Travels. Changed my 5-star opinion. This app was a great way to record your travels as precisely as you wanted. Later you could see and show the routes you took. The one feature I would like to see added is a time stamp along with the date. Recently the option to save “My Position” has been removed. To record one’s location one must find a nearby visible or invisible spot that is recognized by the app. This nearby location might be good enough when retracing a road trip, but it could be disastrous when retracing a hike. Please reinstate the ability to save “My Position”.

Totaly broken now. They did a major redo of this app n now it doesnt work at all. Update erased all the maps i had installed. Tried downloading states again n they dont even have montana. In idaho they only have south idaho 1 small part of the state. I use to have whole state coverage for multiple states and when i try to go to bookmarked places there arent maps for them. Crashes constantly. They went to something called mapbox and links to sell u things n broke its purpose which was to have offline maps that worked. It doesnt now. I guess someone bought it and decided to break it so people wont use any longer. I used for years and now its useless.

Amazing resource. Used this everywhere from rural Ethiopia, DR, and upstate NewYork to New Jersey, France, and Ireland. It has never let me down. An essential product for those places that still don't have wifi, GPS, or phone signal--and that is more than you think. But even if you can log into those Other maps, why would you? This one has a clean design, easy interface, and the advantage of crowd sourced sites that are not commercially funded!

Needs some base functionality. Used this app for two days driving in England and several things became apparent. Presenting the next road information is important for roundabouts and timing before the turn would help! Several times I was notified about a turn at the turn. And even road information in large scale is hard to see and an hour later that information stopped displaying. Information about the roundabout’s name is completely pointless as it doesn’t help the driver while navigating in the roundabout. And lastly speed of the current road helpful especially when approaching a speed camera.

Good in some . Bad for others. This app is great as a walking guide. If I find a location, it would find the shortest route and reroute if I deviate from the recommended. It doesn’t need WiFi. I was in Córdoba and Seville and without it, I wouldn’t have been able to find my AirBnB . This app is bad because of lack of up to date restaurants and hotels. Google is far better. The app uses a lot of energy/ battery to operate. The app doesn’t know the location . It just put a destination in the middle of the building and I often ended up in the wrong side of the building and I had to walk all the way around it.

Wonderful!. Sometimes you have to do a little research (know more than one name for areas or regions) to hone in on a specific road, or venue, but it’s SO wonderful to be able to see yourself move, walking a block, or zooming along in a TGV, in relationship to the map, large or small scale, wifi and cellular free!! Be sure to download ALL the maps you need and checkout the setting-options (thank you zoom-in font-size, and suggestions in the area!) This program is a must-have when traveling!

Pretty good!. My biggest complaint with this app is in smaller places, you can’t directly enter the exact address you want to find. You have to sorta pinpoint an estimated location and find it which can make things kinda confusing. Besides that, it’s really helpful for people who are trying to either save on data, or don’t have a data plan at all and need help navigating! The layout is very well planned, everything is very easy to look at and understand without instructions, and many more pros!

Really Handy App With Odd Ideas About Navigation. I love having this; I first downloaded it before a cross-country road trip, so I would always have a map and navigation if I had GPS. You can add custom locations, and the search function is quite good. On the other hand, the directions the app gives make absolutely no real-world sense, and on top of that, the estimated travel times are delusional - 57 minutes to travel 65 miles, driving solely on state highways and back roads, for example. It wold be wonderful if it could deliver on its promised travel times... Anyways, well worth downloading despite that.

Great free maps for offline use.. This makes a great map that works when you have no cell service. Download just the areas you are interested in for detailed maps. The base US map has major cities & roads and works fine for general location when the phone is in airplane mode. I’ve gotten good enough gps reception from a window seat in an airplane to know where I am. It is also a great backup to online maps for loss of cell service.

Amazing, must have. I used this driving in Scotland. I had Zero cell service and it worked amazingly to get me where I needed to go. I couldn’t have made it thru the trip without it. I just had to be sure to download the right maps. It also provides some details on where to find gas and food which was also helpful. I will use it now anytime I travel internationally.

The app is quite unusable now.. Several issues after the last update: - When tapping on the bookmark button, the app freezes. - Navigation. Before this update, you were able to navigate by clicking on any location, choose “route to/from”, then tap another location to choose “route from/to”. But now, once you choose a location to navigate, you can only enter the other field by search box…which does not make any sense at all considering many locations in the wild are unnamed, or generically named places like “parking” or “trail” etc. - the app also crashes when updating maps. Please, test the app before releasing to all your users. This is not the first time happening with this app unfortunately, and just starts to show a pattern of poor product management. Hope y’all find a way to let the hard work pay off! A personal opinion but I don’t particularly appreciate the new interface either. The old one was great!

Greatest map app. Best offline app there is. Almost as good as Google maps but no internet needed to operate. I use it all the time when overseas and my data is shut off to save money. It uses gps so you can walk around any city and never get lost. I won't leave home without it. You can put pins in locations before you travel and locate monuments and restaurants. It knows where all public toilets are even in remote villages in France.

10 Year User Annoyed by Recent UI Changes. This app is excellent, but the latest UI changes are not! Some specifics: 1) When selecting a pin, the map appears to always center on the selected location. The jump to the new location is new and quite jarring. It disorients me and distracts me from whatever I was trying to do. I request to restore the original function that did not center the map on selected location, or at least give us an option to turn this off. 2. When a location is selected, I must swipe down multiple times to hide the detailed information. This is also irritating as it basically doubles the amount of swiping I have to do. My review will go back to 5 stars if we are able to change away from the above defaults! I love this app, so it is disappointing that the UI has suffered in this recent update. Don’t fix what isn’t broken

Latest update broke core functionality. This is my favorite map app but the latest update just broke the main feature that I use it for. I regularly import .kml route files to display on the map. If the file does not contain saved bookmarks (many of mine contain only the route), there is no toggle to show the .kml data because there are “No bookmarks in this category.” This means that I essentially no longer have access to my dozens of saved cycling routes. Please update to put toggles on every bookmark, regardless of whether it contains saved bookmarked points! I’ll update this review when I can load routes again.

AWESOME APP-DOWNLOAD IT .... My son used this app when he was traveling throughout Asia last year. He loved it and it is so useful. He strongly recommended it for our current trip to Greece . It’s a godsend. On Santorini it showed the small unnamed walking paths ; The points of interest , shops and restaurants. Best of all , good places to watch the sun setting while drinking wine and eating dinner. We used this on Crete while driving . It gave us estimated time of arrival, length of trip and mileage. Did I tell you I love this app. 😊 My new best friend for road Trips.

Largely amazing, but device sync is disappointing. True to its word, this app is pretty much a wonder, completely offline mapping solution. From locations to routes and bookmarks, it’s got the full slew of things you’d likely want. My only gripe is that device sync is awful. I’ve been traveling Southeast Asia for the last three months, and really wanted to do my planning in the evenings at the hostel on my iPad, and have everything all set for the next day to access from my phone. As it stands now, even overnight isn’t a guarantee for bookmark syncing. In 2019 that feels silly.

Best app by far in this category. The ability to see maps in Europe makes this an indispensable tool for finding all kinds of sites and services and interesting things. It is also an extremely valuable tool to make sure you don't get lost and to find the shortest way from one point or the other including walking directions. It's turn by turn directions for vehicle routes is also very good.

Simply Stupendous. While I’d like to see a visually more appealing map, such as GoogleMaps, and wish this were the standard everybody uses (so more shops, restaurants, hotels and more were easily identifiable—and I could leave reviews here rather than on GoogleMaps—this mapping app gives me a combination of information for walking trails and dirt roads, and more, that I find nowhere else, and still also provides quite a lot of useful detail for business establishments—all offline. A marvelous traveling companion. Well done!

Was Amazing! Now overpriced.. Updated: I have been a loyal paying customer for years. I thought it was worth the $8/year to support this app. Now the price has climbed so much - they have gotten greedy. I have cancelled my membership and deleted the app. I downloaded this app before we left for Italy. It can be used without using any DATA as long as you have just your cell service on. You do have to download each map and they are fairly large files but they are also very detailed. The app will route you to your destination and reroute you if you miss a turn. I will never go anywhere else without it!

Great flexibility, needs customer support. This app is great. I use it much more than Google Maps, particularly for the ability to easily and reliably save and edit pins I place on the map while traveling in areas without a good cellular network. The search function is lacking, though, as it uses an engine that is propagated by data added mainly by users, so often times it won’t find places I search for. This doesn’t keep me from using the app constantly, though.

Freezes constantly. And untested for now. Got this for my ipad as a sort of electronic map just incase in a last resort situation where internet won’t be a option anymore. I haven’t tested it yet with the offline maps but I definitely will soon. Main annoyance with this is the fact that it freezes. Constantly. After I do 1 tinker in settings the entire thing freezes and I have to restart the app again which is a pain. Until they fix it. I can’t really recommend this for full on use other than “ hey guys check this out as a backup just incase “

great maps. i have been using mapsme since 2016 when i was living in New Jersey i use it for biking only, the latest was when i use it for my Bike Across America Tour in 2019,,whenever there is no Wifi service i relying on Mapsme, since Google Maps has better feature than Mapsme, but Mapsme wasn't that bad either, now that i'm back to my country,Indonesia i use mapsme a lot than using Googlemap so,Mapsme Team Thank you,Keep up your good work hopefully its get better in the future..

Stop sending notifications. An otherwise great app that doesn’t stop sending you insipid notifications. Today’s had a cat-with-hearts-for-eyes emoji. This was mostly useful while traveling in Southeast Asia, but even with data on, the point of interest and address search frequently failed to find the right spot while google or Apple maps succeeded. But if what you need is a generally accurate map of streets, including small streets, while traveling abroad and trying to stay off data roaming (or unable to use wifi/cellular data), this app fits the bill.
