Great photo and file backup app. I love b being about to back up my files photos to my ftp server. I can stream/modify/and favorite anything there. Keep up the good work. Also, love the auto backup feature, leaves little for me to do to keep everything backed up.

So ready to buy... This is one of those free apps I have lost myself in! Yes it’s super limited but I only have one laptop so it’s been very entertaining & a massive learning experience! I enjoy this app & the FTP app very much - they teach you a lot if u dk what the heck you’re doing and helped me clean a huge amount of trash hidden away in the icloud. $11 or so for such great control over whatever file or folder u can think of? You got it!

Fast forward next button. Video viewer could be better. Why is it so hard to include a video viewer button that fast forward 15 sec or 30 sec at a time when you tap it. Videos are long so this is a good way of searching. No one uses the fast forward next button to go to next video anymore. They back out and go to next video on list, that option should be absolute. Include that button that forwards 15 sec and I will buy this program.

Awesome app. I got this app to delete & move files on a remote Windows-based NAS on my network from my iPhone. It's works great for deleting the files. Setup was very easy and the UI is extremely simple and easy to navigate (unless your a brain washed Windows user). I was deleting files within 2 minutes after downloading! However I cannot seem to move files from one folder to another. Until it can do this simple function I cannot give it 5 stars, but otherwise a gem of an app! Well done developers, well done!

Good but doesn’t really “transfer” files. File Explorer is the best file manager I’ve found to work with my NAS. However, it doesn’t really “transfer” files to the NAS, it can only copy them leaving me to remember which files I copied in order to manually delete them. It doesn’t even leave the selected files “checked” after the copy process is done (not the best solution but better than my memory)! I’m still waiting for an update that will transfer pics and files which is absolutely necessary in order to manage storage on my iPad and iPhone! When that is done I would happily give this app 5 stars!

Much better than native Files app. This allows me to browse my samba NAS much better than the native Files app. Files has massive problems loading large folders of photography, making it basically unusable for me (Yes, I have samba’s Mac compatibility module running). This app works quickly, and thumbnails work quickly, great!

Best App Ever. The best NAS file explorer I ever found. You guys did a wonderful job created this app. Works amazing and even the music stream continues on off screen and songs can be changed using air pod or Bluetooth controlled device. Just amazing. Thanks so much .

Needs improvement. I brought the Apple TV version of this app. There are two things that I do not like. First, you cannot open any pdf file. That is not a big deal for me. Second, you cannot use the remote control to forward 10 seconds when you are watching movies (avi or mkv format). That feature is only supported for mp4 or mov files. If you can fix it I will give you 5 stars. Other than that, I love the iPad version.

Way better than Files app. This app is so much faster, more reliable and easier to use than the Files app built in to iOS. Really good app, would recommend. Only complaint is that once you complete an action in the select menu, it doesn’t exit the select menu automatically.

Simple and effective!. I really love this app. I just wish the UI when playing videos would look much more nicer on iPh X. The top and bottom bars don’t reach to the sides of the phone and it’s a bit uneasy to look at on X. Also the subtitles will just stuck there when you fast forward a video. If i want the subtitles right,I had to close the video and forward it to where i want. I could get to add subtitles back on only after that Other than those issues, it’s a great app. I’ll upgrade to pro version anyway cause i find it convenient and really love it.

MAJOR Security Flaw. Ive been using this app for a couple of years now. I really like that i can password protect the app, but only recently found out that I can access the files & folders i created in this app using the built in Apple “Files” app without having to enter a password! I thought the files/folders were stored somewhere else -or- maybe be encrypted -or- had diff user permissions than the “Files” app, so at least i’d get a “Permission Denied”, but, nope. there they are. Without the password truly protecting folders & files, this app accomplishes nothing more than the built-in “Files” app.

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!. Spent 2 hours trying to figure a way to offload my videos from my iPhone onto my NAS. It’s a sad realization that we’ve come to a point where even the simplest capabilities afforded to us by decades of operating systems, like local network file sharing, has been taken away and or made difficult, so that we have to subscribe to a service. This app asks for nothing and lets you deal with your files as you wish. Super fast, intuitive, and clean. Just like the old days. Dumped about 20 gigs over my WiFi. No errors.

Powerful, and solid support. I was using this as a replacement for Music app because Apple Music doesn’t do what I want it to do, and VLC sometimes won’t show my music. But I washabing trouble in Owlfiles playing back AIFF files. The support team was able to help me fix this issue by adding it as an associated filetype in Settings! I’ve also grown more and more impressed with the app as I’ve used it. It’s had very few glitches and had a nice built in server which makes transfering files to and from my iphone very easy.

Smooth and Efficient. Connects and moves files seamlessly between my phone and my home network storage drive. No need to use a computer.

Apple TV app needs video or audio loop functionality. I bought a paid Apple TV version of this app. That version needs to have a loop functionality added to it for music and video files so that the file would repeat play itself after it ends. There are other options to favorites, rename or delete a file when you long press it but no option to loop it which is a pretty basic functionality. Please add that functionality to the Apple TV app as soon as possible.

Great for accessing home NAS server. To save Internet data usage, I have a private 'cloud' on my Buffalo NAS server as well as my backups. I use it to move files between 3 Win 10 PCs and 2 iPhones. It's trivial to set up the share in Windows, but FileExplorer is the best I have found to let the iPhones join in.

Opened PDF files from a shared Win10 folder.. I was able to open files across the network using my old iPad running iOS 12.5.5. I was surprised it was so easy. No learning curve, it simply worked.

Great for managing network files and playing MP3’s. Very nice app. I use it to move and manage files on my Windows server and to play MP3’s. Only a few things make it a 4, not a 5. 1. It’s too easy to move a folder or file to a folder. Very similar to the scroll flick. Wish it gave an “are you sure?”. 2. I wish it remembered where I was playing a song or where I was browsing for the next time I open the app. A resume or even a “most recent” file/folder list. 3. I wish there was a “play the next folder” continue option along with repeats. As it is, I can’t play more than an album at once from the folders. Other than those three issues, I have no complaints. In fact, if those three were fixed, I’d probably pay for the full version. As it is, I’m still searching. But, those are nit picky... If you need network file management, this is worth the download. Great app with minimal nags!

This is a good app.. Though I haven’t had a chance to use the upgraded version, this app has some potential and overall is a good file explorer. It could use a few more features like file conversion or codecs for reading Windows Media but maybe that’s just an idiosyncrasies of IOS, just a thought...

I would rate this 0 stars if I could. They took what was a very good app and completely destroyed it, changed the name, and took what had a very fairly priced and worthwhile “Pro” upgrade and turned it into subscription-based nonsense. They changed the name of the app and updated it instead of just making a new app so the people who were already using the old app would lose access to everything. NO THANKS!!

Love the app. Love the app i just wish that there was an option for larger thumbnails and when you go to rename a file it would be nice if the cancel and ok options were moved further down. It might be just me but I’ve accidentally canceled renaming my files tons of times just trying to drag the cursor to the beginning of the file name. Other than those small gripes everything works and it looks nice

Bait and switch. I paid for the pro version of FE File Explorer. Now they've changed the name to Owlfile and are charging a subscription instead of the one time fee I paid. FE File Explorer Pro doesn't receive updates anymore. What a crock! Edit: In response to the developer's reply, the latest update was a minor bug fix. If I purchase the pro version, I expect to get pro level support. You simply renamed the app so I no longer receive new features. What a scummy business model. You're simply forcing customers to pay for the app a second time through a subscription model.

almost perfect, but. I want to backup my camera roll to a pc folder in a regular basis. it contains more then 2k photos and videos in total, but only a few are newly added. this app can’t skip duplicate items automatically, can’t continue automaticity after network temporarily disconnected.

Use free version only! Beware!. This worked great for 25% of my files, so I paid the five dollars for the pro version, and would still not list all of the files in my folder, it did play some of the files that it did not, with the free version but they are heavily interlaced and cannot even watch them. These were recorded from a Sony 1080i Camcorder, not a no name camera. Stick with the free version for what it works for. The pro version added nothing useful. The free version even opens my Sony raw files, so why pay the 5 bucks?????

WOW. Needed a file manager that would access my home shared folders from my iPhone that was different than the built in “Files” app that iPhones have. This program is amazing. Such a great design and layout! Couldn’t ask for a better app for what I needed. Yes it is $2.99 a month (there is a yearly fee or a forever) but it is worth it. Great job.

Fallen to the almighty dollar. This app was admirable, about a year ago. I could add NAS music to it and play files with a great interface. Like most iPhone, they could have decided between ads or crippling usability until you pay upfront. Given the choice, I would have chosen. Now you can buy Pro or get zero functionality. For now, I use it to access my previously added shares, before the patches removed this 'feature.' Given the options - 'pay us or your NAS is inaccessible' - I will find an alternative. Until then, an admirable attempt was made.

Great app! I use it a lot.. I haven’t used tons of its features, mostly just using it to connect to my samba server. It works great, and I love the audio playback features! I don’t usually review apps, but I decided to for this one!

Amazing App. I was confused at first when this got on my phone but then I realized it was a update of file explorer but it’s a amazing app it’s still different from file explorer but it’s a little easier to use

Easy to use with Network Storage.... I tried as many of File management programs I could find and even the Free version of this program exceeded all other programs I tried to access my NAS setup. I don't hesitate giving it 5 stars it's in a class all by its self. For my use it is the best ❗️👍

The best app I ever installed in my phone. Much better than other apps. Easy to use, and filled with all the features i need. I no longer need to connect my iPhone to transfer files thanks to this app. I would add one more star if I could because of the developers’ privacy policy. Compared to other apps, this app respects the user’s privacy.

Supports Files app and HTTP server. I tried several apps and this is the only one that supports the Files app and has a built-in HTTP and FTP server, so you can easily upload and download from any device on the wifi network. The servers are hidden in the settings menu but they work.

Inability to move or copy files from remote external directly to ipad.. This app is good for viewing external files by wifi on PC but cant copy them directly to local device, must 1st copy to Owl files on local device then use Apple file manager to move them to local device. Apple file manager can do that in one step, so why need this app.

The free version is useless for me. Maybe the paid upgrade works better. I installed this app, hoping I would have the iOS version of Windows Explorer on my iPad. I really want this function to keep up with files, etc. What I discovered is that the app appears to only keep up with files loaded AFTER the app is installed. It shows nothing of what is already in my iPad. When I selected “contact us” to ask about this, it told me I had to first set up my email, etc, in the Settings. When I went to Settings, there was nowhere to do that. Based on this, I sure don’t want to spend money on the upgrade, not knowing if it’s any better.

Great for using file shares. This is a great utility for what it claims to do: browse and use files on file shares. I use it with SMB (Windows) shares, although everything works so well I have no reason to think that the others wouldn't work great as well. Only problem with it is I see little reason so for to upgrade to Pro other than getting rid of the nag message. I am inclined to though just to support the author for putting out a solid utility!

Fix video playback. Overall great app. Would recommend to everyone. However when playing video over NAS the screen can dim and then turn off. Please fix.

Got it working.... For whatever reason it wouldn't connect at first. Tried the app the next day and it worked fine, and has been ever since. Not sure what's up with the original hiccup but now that it's working it's all good. 4/5, would be 5/5 if not for the initial issue.

Excellent App. I have Synology NAS and I wanted an app that could display thumbnails and full pictures on both the NAS using my own directory structure as well as on my IPAD. I tried at least six different apps and none of them filled the bill. I also have a lot of music stored on the NAS and I can quickly search my music to get anything in the title. I had also always had the artist in the title so I can quickly search for the artist. The app plays the music or will automatically stream pictures to my IPAD or television through my IPAD. I truly think I have found a great app. Thank you developer.

Allows File Transfer from Nas to Ipad. This app allows file transfer from your nas or other network connected device to the iPad. Other apps require you to be at your desktop computer to move files between the iPad and the desktop computer or Nas. This app allows the iPad to initiate the file transfer, which is great if your desktop is on another floor from where you use the iPad. I use it often. As another reviewer said it will also play music files outside of iTunes.

Took features away and put them behind a pay wall. Just so you know, most of the positive reviews are from back when the apps free version had a lot of functionality. The high reviews do not accurately reflect the new app. I downloaded this before it was called Owlfiles. A visually unappealing but functional app. Had this app all set up to back up my photos. It was clunky but it worked fine. Then suddenly the app gets a new name, logo, and subscription paywall to access any useful features. There are much better paid apps out there that are one time purchase.

Excellent bridge between file systems. Provides an excellent bridge between iPad and other cloud and OS file systems. Browse and read supported files, share files between other native reading applications

Great App to Access network files. I have several word and excel files on a Dell desktop that I reference. This app allows me to view those files on my iPad. It works seamlessly without a glitch. I highly recommend this ap.

Consistent problem. It’s a good app allowing me to transfer files from my phone iPad to my Windows file system and lets me manage the files on my network but it has a consistent problem when I rename directories on my network where after renaming the directory I get a subsequent message that the directory can’t be found when I try to take subsequent actions like deleting the directory or copying it. I now have many directories that show up that I can’t get rid of. Very weird because I can copy the files contained in the directory to another location but can’t rename or delete the directory even when I access the directory directly from file manager in Windows.

Good experience. Very good and simple app to use. Easy to navigate to save my files from other apps. The only issue I have with the app is playing audio file. When you open an audio file to play, the app doubles the time. For example, if the audio is 5 mins, when you open it, the app will present it as 10 mins and when the 5 mins is reached on the play mode, the audio stops and runs the other 5 additional mins with no sound, later before it changes to the next file. You could imagine what happens a 50mins, 1hr, 1:30hrs file; it would double up the time as 1:40mins, 2hrs, 3hrs respectively. It really distorts putting the play on an automatic changing of audio. I would be glad if this could be worked on asap. Thank you.

The perfect app for browsing network shares. I have been searching for a good one for forever and this is it. Because this is the free version there are some limitations and I completely understand, and depending on how often I end up using this app I’ll buy it. My one feature request is for video and audio files, for the app to remember where you left off and ask if you would like to resume from there or start over.

I don’t get it. Working on a iPad trying to manage and move photos and videos to a NAS. Why can’t I just access files or photos directly to move to another location? I need to copy from “photos” to another management app? I copy to “Files” and then FE can't see to work with them there either. Am I supposed to copy again over to FE? Why can’t I use multi select? This seems like basic stuff. Does the pro version do something different? The app doesn’t tell you.

Good for network files, but not local files. VERY limited support for accessing local files, only access is manuals and photos. Cannot access downloads, documents or other local content. I give it 3 stars for network access especially for my NAS, but I'd really like to be able to copy local files to network servers. Not very intuitive to use, but you get used to the dumbed down Apple interface soon, especially if you are coming from a PC environment.

Changed from the old app. My phone updated and my FTP app was replaced by this These reviews are for the old FTP app. It was simple and easy to use. This should have been a new app The old one was simple and it took a while to know how to use this. It works well but was a learning curve

Sagm4657. Almost perfect! The file management is fast and fluid, one of the best I've seen on the App Store. I would just like to see the ability to have the video player repeat a single video on loop, in addition to auto-playing the next video. That would make it a 5-star for me!

MacOS Connection Issue. Installed the App on my iPhone 12 Pro and iPad Pro, configured the file sharing on my MacMini. iPhone’s Owlfiles works perfectly to connect the MacOS share without any issue. However, my iPad cannot connect to the host for some reason. Kept having host cannot be reached/resolved issue. (I have the same Apple ID, WiFi across my iPhone, iPad and MacMini) Tried to troubleshoot this by reset my iPad Network but no luck. I tested from another SSH app on my iPad which has no problem to reach the host (MacMini) of the same IP, which means the IP routing is correct.

An Indispensable Tool for Routine Activities. I have been using File Explorer for 4 or 5 years and have really gotten a lot from it. I have a home based server on which I have music, videos and documents and I have File Explorer on my iPhone. I can be anywhere in the world and access any of those files. One of the best features is to pull up a video and airplay it to a TV. I have a VPN and File Explorer has a link which allows me to make a connection easily without having to remember logins and passwords. If airplay isn’t available then I can connect an HDMI to the phone and connect directly to the TV. File Explorer is very stable and I can’t recall anytime that it hasn’t worked flawlessly!

File Explorer - dream app. This program is so intuitive and real lifesaver linking my iPad to the work and home networks. This should be a given feature on apple products.

No problems at all!. I was able to connect to my samba server from my ipad. That is one great thing that would make your ipad forget problems about storage!

Works. Full version works great, though for the free one, well you get what you pay for.

Ask to pay for opening files on network. Doesn’t allow to open video on remote share in free version. Sad... and delete.

Scam app. Stole information from my other apps! Scam scam scam do not download

Not as advertised. Says allows assess to one network device in free version. It does this only once. If you want to access the same device again you have to pay.

Waste. Can't even stream MP4 files and play those and they want you to pay for mkv and other formats. File Browser is way more reliable and works.

Deleted most of my ebooks without warning. Couldn’t find FE File Explorer on my iPad. Gone. Noticed Owlfiles—and deleted it at once. Of course. Strange malware appearing for no reason. Later I discover the RENAMING of my FE program! Most of my books now missing and unrecoverable. What’s wrong with this picture? I have contacted the developer but my expectations are low and my disgust is high. Very high. I have to wonder what they were thinking…maybe it’s just me.

Good start... Started off well but for the last few updates it hasnt been able to stream to Apple TV, if that could be fixed it would be back up to 5 stars easy

Nickel-and-dime operation.. Everything that could make this app worthwhile is behind the pay wall. The free version just showcases all the things you can't do. It's not a reasonable request, it's a shameless money-grab by the developer. Nothing works! If you don't want to offer a free version, don't. Otherwise, make it usable.

Works well. Works well for me. I use when dlna media player doesn't see new videos that I have uploaded. It's also good for easily uploading books onto the iPad.

One of my fav apps. Allows easy access of home network. No need for icloud

Best of the free file transfer apps. Only criticism is it sometimes opens an old version of a file first rather than the current version. Adequate for my needs connecting to my corporate Windows file server and viewing documents.

Renamed FE app. Renamed app. All the release notes show that this is just a rename so that everyone has to pay again and also enter all server login info over. I paid for the pro version of FE. Now EOL? Check out the release notes for both apps and you will see that FE seems to be EOL and owlfiles is just the renamed app with a total break from FE Pro going forward with new payments required and no migration of settings, etc. Just read the developer response. Rather bizarre. Just look at the release notes of both this app and their other app. This app, despite being “Free from day one” has a subscription model. The older app, which has the same version history, except for a few of the latest ones, also has a Pro feature, which I bought. So I paid for the app already, but they claim they have made so many wonderful changes that they have to change the name, and charge us all over again for the “Pro” features. I have no problems supporting s/w. That is why I immediately purchased the Pro add-on for FE. This current behavior seems unethical to me, to clone the app I paid for and was supporting with my Pro purchase, claim it is now so wonderful I have to a) pay for it again and b) lose all my server settings and sync settings, re-entering them in the newly renamed “new” app.

Plays my mp3's great from my windows network share.. I downloaded this to try, and just put in my computer name, hit connect, typed in my pc's user/password and presto! I was browsing my pc file system. Great for playing music (mp3) around the house while I do chores etc. recommended.

superb tool. I use to work remotely on my Mac files and it performs flawlessly.

Love it. Easy to use. Great

Great app but... Great app, however you should purchase the full version from app store not upgrading within the app as it would not appear as purchased in app store. For this reason I give it a 3 star instead of 4.5

Easy to use, reliable, does what it says. Does exactly what I want and supports a wide variety of storage and transfer protocols

Good but.... I was looking for a Windows style file manager. Not quite there yet.

$8 for the full app, are you insane?. Bottom text

Works well. As an IT professional it's really good to be able to access files on servers/NASs. This allows me to test the full version, before getting it. I liked it, so I've upgraded.

Best of breed. After having downloaded a number of ios file browser and management apps without a doubt this is the best. Usability it is good, maybe no different from any other. In terms of file formats that it handles this has no equal. I can't find a video for at it can not handle. I can load it up with all my docs, PDFs, videos and music, and it can push the through to what ever program I whatnot to view or manipulate them in. I was a little sceptical at first after I was burned buying a number of other apps that failed to live up to their claim.

Paywall app. Clickbait. Everything is behind a paywall. No support for network drives.

Fantastic and too easy to use.. Instantly allowed me to connect to my smb server via hostname and credentials on the wifi at home and copied images to my nas instantly. As if this level of file sharing support isn't in and iPhone UI natively.

Easy to use. Very handy app that allows you to connect to networks and organise your stuff. Would be nice if the default page wasn't blank with only tiny drop down arrow, but this is a minor consideration.

Be aware of app limitations of Pro version. While the free version works on both iPhone and Apple TV, with expected limitations, the Pro version for one device does not work on both devices (unlike other similar apps). You need to purchase a Pro version for the iPhone AND a Pro version for the Apple TV if you want it on both. Otherwise I would provide a higher rating.

SCAM BEWARE FAKE REVIEWS. You have to pay to use it you can download stuff but can't watch them till you dish out the cash scam

Great networking support. I am long time Linux fedora user who recently purchased an iPhone for the first time. This app allows me to easily connect to my samba shares, supports Dropbox, Googledrive, OneDrive and FTP file transfers. The app removes the apparent apple ecosystem constraints by allowing me to access my data on my Linux server in a nice easy to use graphical interface. I noticed the app supports own cloud. I hope the developer will add support for nextcloud in the future. Cheers

Not a bad app. Still requires some more support for different movie codecs. However works very well for the majority that I have tried. Works very well with pdf files and as a general file browser. Makes connecting my iPad to the Nas server a breeze.

I Love You FE File Explorer!. I Learnes how to blueprint edit in Spaceflight Simulator Thank you!

Excellent tool for WHS network. I downloaded this app to see if it would stream media from my WHS PC. Upgraded to full version to unlock media playback formats. The only configuration was to enter the WHS user password! Video and audio stream well, HD content gets abit slow and jerky, but im only using ipod touch 2G. Good options setup, and very simple to use. Very Nice app.

Excellent file management app. I have been using this app for around a year now, I've tried a few apps and found file explorer to be just about the best, it connects to my NAS box, I can stream or download any video format, play music, read PDFs etc, or just use it for file storage. The ability to upload and delete/modify files on my NAS box is very handy. Awesome app!!!

Very good. Used to connect to my NAS. Easy setup. Ended up buying the full version for all the file features.

Oh no. Before you use this app install it and then delete it and when you delete it it takes everything that you’ve ever stored in it with it.

No longer support Chromecast from the iPhone app. Shame

Still the best of its kind. Purchased the pro version in-app quite some time ago, used it nearly daily, love it, now it’s demanding I pay for upgrade AGAIN! 5 stars downgraded to 1 until this is fixed.

Great access to files and docs. This app gives a very handy feature for saving the files and maintaining them locally in iPad and iPhone with ease. You can create your own local folder structure and manage your own docs, images, audio files etc. There might be other limitations, but I have not come across them. It serves my purpose well. Wish Apple had provided a native app like this.

Loved it. I just love this app, it amazed me like nothing else could do. Just amazing

Crappy. Nothing works on my iPad Pro 11 inch

Handy App. Seems to do a few things well for me like create txt files which I can then email or send locally. There are other apps that do the same fn. I only have the free ver. so I don't know if it does streaming as it claims to do.

Works exactly how I wanted to use it.. It works great for copying stuff over to my 2DS XL’s microSD Management. The only annoying thing if after leaving the app it’ll go “socket error 2” until you restart it.

Awesome!!!. Was looking for something to copy video files in the background from my T5 SSD to my iPad Pro and this app does just that plus much more! Needed to move files for video editing...the built in file manage on iPad kept crashing, this one is perfect! Works with shared drives and a lot more! Definitely give this App a download!

Was happy paid customer until they disabled restore purchase!. Loved the product, having paid for the pro version via In-App Purchase, was very disappointed to see that the restore purchases option no longer exists, forcing one to buy the product again (ie: Pro version).

Rubbish. Zero stars is too good. What a serious load of rubbish. Sure you can see your files, big deal. To do anything with them from a NAS you have to purchase the pro version. You cannot even transfer to local device. The developer is too greedy.

needs better PRO SUPPORT. sick of constantly having to remind you that I HAVE ACTUALLY PAID for the "pro" version! once, I can understand... twice, getting annoying... but OVER AND OVER AGAIN - particularly after having to reinstall or upgrade - this is simply unforgivable

99% perfect.. You fix the issue with USB/cable audio (having to have iTunes music + a song synced to be able to get the phone to be recognised in a car, dock etc) and I’ll happily pay for the full version.

Impressive. Checking out free version and very impressed. Very clean and works really well accessing my file off my NAS. Finds my PC shares straight away without having to jump through hoops to access files. The way you hope it would work but often disappointed with other apps. I'm fussy and expect a lot from free apps, but tired of crippled or lame apps that claim a lot & fail to deliver.

Ahoy!⚓️. Thar be dragons 🐉. Enforced licensing method fraught. Promise of cross platform appears only redemption. Privacy statement has no basis in reality. Years of goodwill lost.

Best file explorer app. This is the file explorer app Apple should have included with its iOS suite of software.

A must have. I use this app to backup my files to an external SSD connected to my router. This app does a great job. The developer support is also amazing and responds quickly with answers and solutions. I highly recommend it. Well done!

This app is amazing!. If I ever forget to export anything to my iPad, I can easily hop onto the app and click on my PC, navigate through my PC files and save the picture or whatever I was looking for. Plus, I don’t have to keep sending emails to myself anymore. This app is amazing, would recommend 100%

Need pro to be useful. Used to be able to access network shares. Now needs the paid version. Would have tolerated ads in free version but now is useless.

Great app!. Works great for file management etc. But watching an .MP4 file is absolutely unusable which is why I’m giving this app 4 stars. Setup my Windows connection in seconds. But the network neighborhood selection lies under the keyboard which makes it hidden. Great app! 👍🏻

Nice - simple - works. Needed something to access my time capsule - works perfectly!! connection to view pics wirelessly was fast and will be upgrading to pro for video access. Hopefully its just as fast

So far so good. Works great. Can use it to see files on my windows machine. Works fast and easy.

Great app, could be enhanced. I wish it was possible to ad/save a bookmark when playing a long video, at least in the Pro version. I run FE Pro on all my Apple TVs but not on iPhone so I cannot write a review for the Pro version

This > Apple's File App. So you can connect your SMB server to Apple's file app, pretty cool right?! But 90% of the time it shows "content unavailable due to unknown reason". This app, works like a bauss! Also has its inbuilt video player, if you are a student, and have lectures, books, pdfs download this app, worth it.

Nice. Built in servers are very useful to allow older devices to transfer to and from iPhone. Happy to see it available, job well done!

Fonctionne parfaitement pour les fichiers audios. Parfait

You are a file explorer but you can’t open .apk files. ..

Works but Limited for free. I’ve been looking for an app to access my WD NAS and this does the trick. The free app only allows connecting to one device (lots of nagging to upgrade), but so far it’s doing the job adequately on my local LAN.

A million limits. Looking for a freeware to push photos from my pad to a has and back... nag windows and bs limits are why I've uninstalled this and will keep looking

Newest version still crashes a lot. Not as often as the previous version but still quite often

Make sign in by email. Not everyone uses or enables iCloud or uses Google add sign in by email.

Need some improvement on the Apple TV app. On the IPad and IPhone we can access Google drive, One Drive, Dropbox..... This is not possible on the AppleTV version. Can you had this option on the next revision?

The best file manager for ipad. This is the best file manager app for ios, thanks Good job!

Good documentation but limited functionality on iPhone 6plus. Above average user documentation but limited in terms of finding documents on my iPhone and iPad. Which sucks because that's why I purchased it! Apple introduced a file manager on its new IOS 11 so won't be using this product unless vendor makes some major updates to the file management functionality - i.e. make it useful...

Great. I haven’t found a flaw in this yet. I like how I can access different cloud storage services and connect to my network storage.

Ugly player. Does the job. I’d buy it if the music player was nicer.

Add Files support. It would be great if you could add support integration for iOS Files

Inessantly demanding upgrades. Purchased as an upgrade of the free version FE pro now demands further uograde for basic function. Decidedly misleading marketing!

Good app!. Very useful and handy. Plays .mp3 audio files nicely but doesn’t support .m4a files.

Great. Allows access to synology drive on old iPad. iPad is first gen stuck at iOS 9.3. This app gave it new life as a reader

i like it. apparently doesnt like to open yml files but does it anyways. except for starred files. this app will not open those files if they are yml. please fix!!!

Great app. Needs just a little bit more extentions in free version.

wonderful…wonderful…just wonderful. Its very good to transfer files from ipad to a windows laptop wirelessly. Only disadvantage is its slow and it can be very tricky to connect at first. I always have a hard time connecting them and that’s very inconvenient, but nonetheless its a very good app.

Good App!. I like the app, it’s simple and functional, you can edit text files right from the app. Thanks for fixing IPv6.

So far is working very well thanks. Yea

Perfect for accessing your files. I primarily use FE to access the music stored on my NAS (it even has a built-in player), but it’s also very easy to get to documents and other information. Definitely recommend! :)

Great app. The best so far I tested. Easy to use, very stable.

Update But installed. This is Showing up in my available updates list even though I do not have it installed.

File size info absent. So, how do I see the file metadata - info such as the size? Do I miss something here or this is one more app that follows the apple’s non sense?

Inline Editing Doesn't Work. When editing a file upon saving it the app attempts to upload the file but it renames it as [name].[extension].upload.[timestamp] and the file becomes useable even after changing the name back. Do not use this app if you value your code or time. It's a good thing I had backups!

NAS not work. Try to connect to a synology NAS , Everything is correct since I can login use http page. 192.168.0.100:5000. But return error with this app: socket error 2. Tried many times not work.

Very functional app, network, play movies. very good app. It can access my home network via wifi, and play movies

Worst rebrand ever. They took something that worked well, rebranded it and removed basic and necessary features.

Ice711. Hello and welcome today we will be finding Planes Crash

Works good. Easy to use and quick Would love to see these suggestions: larger thumbnails for portrait phots (landscape okay right now), ability to sort photos by date taken not modified , ability to hide filename and date while scrolling for larger thumbnail, schedule auto backup at night on wifi and plugged in

Works. It works, take a little bit to set up

V11.0 not working. Old version works good.

Essential app. I’ve been with iOS for 10 years. This is the first app I install on new devices. Great file manager, allows you to play networked music and files, manipulate them. And once I had a question for the dev and they got back to me. Truly impressed. Highly recommended.

Excellent app. Just needs a properties option. This is an excellent app. The only suggestion I have is to add an option to view the properties (showing the size, # of files/folders etc) of a folder.

Annoying. The fact that this app constantly bothers you to upgrade is the very reason I refuse to buy it, otherwise I would consider it even not being perfect.

Excellent app!. Excellent app

Not as it was FE File explorer. Everything changed no free connection to local network. It was best when it uses to be FE File explorer. No connection even if you sing up. Just another app converter to paid version only.

Best app I've used for file management. 5 stars

Problems with login. Funny that host name and credentials that get me into a read-only SMB share on my MacBook Pro using the Files app, don’t get me in using this app.

Hug. Open open OPEN OKIE OMG OKIE

love it. sftp works fantastically, and there are no annoying subscriptions. amazing.

Works as designed with Linux file server. This was so easy to set up and it streams video with ease from a file share on Linux. And it’s free!!

Terrible - we will be looking for a better option. The good reviews are mostly from when this app was called FE File Explorer. I paid for a pro version and now they are trying to move the useful features to a subscription. The old app was so popular because it simply worked, there was no need to change what wasn’t broken.

Great app!. Would love to see an “upload from camera” option while inside a network folder. This would be the cherry on top for me for sure!

AMAZING. It is amazing what Pro FE can do. Try basic version first if you feel you must but believe me, the PRO version does what is says it can do. Great APP. Simple and intuitive.

tricky to use with Kaspersky. it took me about 5 hours of trying everything under the sun on my 3PCs to get this to work .. i finally guessed and turned the firewall OFF on Kaspersky Internet security to get this to work as advertised .. this needs to be addressed in the instructions

Bugs ftp video playing experience issues (v 9.4). I tested several time between free ftp client app and this update version to ensure that neither ftp server bug or my device error. After testing many time, this update took longer time to play video and progress (gesture) is not functional. When I skip to time I want to play, it loop in loading and can’t play almost every time. Sorry for my bad English.

A profound pleasure to use. The utility of this app cannot be stated clearly. It can access files on nearly any system. I wish I could pay for it!!!! Amazing.

Works great. Easy access to SMB shares plus some nice unexpected extra features like internal FTP & HTTP servers. Also ping and port server functions that work better than some other standalone apps. Even has wake on lan

Works really well with SMB server. It solves the problem to stream from SMB server, and it can play almost all different video formats.

Error message when exporting to camera roll. I keep on getting a error message when copying files from downloads to camera roll. I just bought the paid version thinking it was a file size limit of the free version but still the same issue! Cocoa error 1.

Issue with password protected ZIP files. There seems to be an issue with extracting files from a password protected zip file that I believe needs to be fixed. If that gets fixed this apps deserves 5 starts and I may even buy the Pro version.

Cool but bug. hey uhh i kinda need a help with smth. this app is great an all but when i try to transfer large size videos from my pc to my iphone it like uhh the video is 8 minutes but when i save the video in my iphone the video become 30 minutes cuz it like gives slowmode thingy pls fix this and if its smth with my iphone pls reply this message with the solution

Software is not a service!. Why would anyone be stupid enough to pay monthly for something that should be a simple onetime purchsse? Especially a software that doesn’t feature scheduled regular updates on a specific timeline? Stop being dumb. Don’t subscribe to software. It’s not a magazine.

Some network folders don’t show up. I love the interface and the simplicity of the app but some sub folders on my network drive won’t show up. They show up in other file management apps, so I don’t think it’s an issue with my drive. Hopefully this issue can be fixed soon.

Useless. NAS has never worked. It only detects my Windows 10 laptop and none of my drives on NAS. There is no option to scan the WiFi network. Waste of money.

Works well. This is a great file transfer app. Read the instructions. It works well if you follow the manual. Best I have seen.

A well rounded file manager. Thanks for making file deletion in the search results a reality!

Awesome app to transfer files from/to my phone. Awesome app to transfer files from/to my phone

Blind. I was hoping to access ‘my’ files on my iPhone and iPad to basically have a utility to bring the files from the dark cloud to my iPad; but this app cannot even see the files. Why do ALL the tech giant’s want to isolate individuals from what is their’s. Remember when the world needed a warrant to access ‘your’ data? I guess now we need a warrant. Bottom line, this app does less than the files app you already have.

Disappointing from good. Owlfiles took a decent project and broke it. Dozens of favorites gone. Fisher Price icons in 2022. The developers need to do what they need to do, but input from users or examination of why things would be changed as opposed to seemingly random decisions would have been appreciated and likely led to greater monetization.

I didn't know it but it's just what I was looking for. I've used FTPNSFTP servers often times for work never as A NAS. GUI is much more intuitive then the Brennan software. I want to use it a few days or so far so good.

Awesome for work NAS. I got this to connect to the NAS we built at work, it works perfectly! Simple connection via SMB, login worked first time, and I see all the files I need. Great free option!

Great app. Really good app. Very convenient to use and works most of the time to transfer files to NAS. Sometimes queueing up multiple files fails but overall a useful application

iOS 14 app crashes. When I play ogg and m4a on iPhone Se with iOS 14 it crashes. I converted to mp3 for better luck because I noticed ogg files would crash after a few songs or skips in my playlist. Can you guys fix this? I love having this connected to my network share. Thanks

It works!. First attempt to open remote files fails, but second click works. Using this for a massive D&D library I have on PC but can’t fit on the iPad. Grateful for this app.

Version 10.1.1 broken. The latest update broke both free and paid version. The app will no longer cast a slideshow. They were notified and say it will be fixed next update.

Yes very nice. This is good, the free version is more than enough but if you need more shares than you can get the paid for $6.00 very worth it in my opinion

Free version limitations. Can’t do much with the free version so I don’t know if it’s worth paying to upgrade to pro so I’m sticking with Documents by Readdle which is free and has full functionality. Suggestion to developer: let us actually connect to the cloud in File Explorer in the free version so we know if it’s worth upgrading to pro.

works great!. a lot better than stupid Apple file! be able to connect to my raspberry pi samba share without any problems! Great!

great on old ios. vlc was crashing so i tried and now love FE. thanks dear author(s) for this gem of an app that make an old ios do better.

Feature request. Very nice app. Just a request for the next update: I store music in my smb shared folders. After I use the search box to search a singer, I get a list of mp3 songs from that singer. Sweet! But then I tap on that mp3 file, I could listen to that song only since there is only one song in the playlist and the song keeps repeating. Is it possible to add all the songs from the search result to the playlist? Thank you!

Plays movies from my home computer on my phone. Works great on my home network. I'm using free version and it plays movies from my computer flawlessly

Great Network Browser. Once set up, it sees all the shared folders on my Windows 7 media server. Plays Wmv video files seamlessly. Wish it could access the RAW ios file system, but that's an Apple issue.

Opinion. I don’t see nothing more than what my iPhone explorer has to show. Not sure where the “demo phone” files are coming from on the first review of the program...not even close to a Windows Explorer in order to show hidden files or folders...

Finally able to access files!. Great to be able to view and manipulate files on iGadgets, but no instructions or help menu caused some extra time when first using the app.

Works well. File explorer is responsive accurate and easy to use and understand Thanks for a stable and usable product.

Built in web server. Gets the cross-platform job done. No more fussing with Apple’s iTunes/Windows abandonware!

Great App. Please feel free to enjoy shared folder experiences across all devices. It helped me sync all my media files with desktop. Much appreciations.

Works great. I can see all my network computers and view the files contained within. Very helpful.

Files not saving. I used this app to access my network connected usb and when I downloaded a file, I couldn’t see it in the files app. I have no clue where those files were being saved, but due to this issue, I will never use this application again.

Won’t open network file. This used to work but now it won’t open my network file. It asks for a user and password however I don’t have one. I can open the same network file on my computer and other apps so I know it is this app that isn’t working. Used to like this but is worthless now.

Doesn’t appear to support iXpand drives. I wouldn’t be able to move from FE Explorer - not that I want to, it works beautifully - because there’s no support in Owlfiles for iXpand drives, unless I’m missing something.

Finally I can have s smooth home cloud workflow.. It makes syncing with your home cloud a more pleasant experience — Full stop!

Great app! It worked with my NAS file drive flawlessly.. I have a WD Cloud drive. After installing FE File Explorer, I was able to access my pics and other files. No issues, it just worked right away.

Does what iOS files should do. Like…it fully supports SMB. I can’t wait to find out what else it can do.

Connection problems. When it connects it's great, but usually it times out and doesn't connect more often than it does. Tried rebooting, resetting network connections, reloading the app... sometimes it connects most times not. It was great before it became "Owlfiles". Now not so much.

Much improved but is it secure?. Recent versions have been pretty solid and handle the basics well. but due to lack of transparency regarding security and password management I only use it behind my firewall. Developers should document security measures.

FE Explore works great. Great tool for cell phone accessing of files (pics, music, video, docs etc.) from a NAS drive or computer on your home network.

Move files. Excellent for moving photos and small files back-and-forth between a PC and an iPhone.

Doesn't play nice with iOS "files". I can't figure out how to move files from FE to another folder on my iPad (which is visible in files). FE is not visible to files either so can't do the move from that side. Really well done app otherwise
