Very useful for me. This is a great app if you want to get things done and you’re a busy person. Take the time to learn how to record with a threshold and it becomes super productive.

really great. super simple & works great

This is a keeper for versatility.. I am a profesional voice actor, a creative writer and a musician. Mobile audio recording plays an important role in my life. I've been looking for years for an app that gives me the flexibility of high quality recording, idea recording and editing tool all in one. This is close to be perfect for me. It has replaced 6 of my previous recording apps already! I can record high quality auditions and send them to my agent in both of the industry standards .WAV and MP3. Kudos for that. I can record ideas very easily while I'm driving or away from my desk and organize them later for easy review. That's one of the big pluses of this app IMHO. I have used it also to record a guitar recital in combination with a Zoom iQ5 mic for iPhone 5 with outstanding results. The only things missing for me are: 1) Ability to monitor recording with headsets. (The iQ5 mic has an input jack for headsets but it requires the app to allow monitoring which I don't think this app has or it is so hidden I haven't found it yet.) 2) Ability to display text on screen to read while recording. I know this is too much to ask but just think how many rappers, poets, actors, teachers, narrators etc. would benefit from this. (check an app called iSaidWhat? to see what I'm talking about) Other than that very good app. Keep it up.

Stable, somewhat non-intuitive. This program works well once you get used to its non-standard buttons and user experience. I think with a few tweaks they could make it something that is in alignment with normal apps. The instructions could also probably use some expansion, for instance to make it easier to understand how to switch to MP3 output rather than WAV. Finally, the ceaseless demands for a Review were pretty annoying, and I’m sure tends to depress the ultimate ratings people give. It would be smarter if they asked less frequently.

Accessible and powerful!. This app is absolutely accessible and powerful!! Love it’s recording capabilities, especially it’s voice activated recording function. The overall accessibility is a win win for me and the blind community, it’s going to get better with every update. Works fully 100% with VoiceOver!! I love it, and it’s my go-to every day recorder!!

Better than 10 apps I've tried. I needed a replacement for the stock Voice Memos app (iTunes started multiplying my Voice Memos recordings every time it synced). So I tried a new voice recording memo everyday for the last couple weeks. So far I like this ALON Dictaphone best. It has: the best quality of sound, options for varying levels of quality & formats, ease of use, and variety of syncing options (Google Drive, Dropbox, and others) It has other features some people my value, but the ones I've listed were particularly valuable to me. Definitely worth the money.

Very reliable. I use it to record song ideas on the fly. Extremely useful for this.

Being asked to rate the app is annoying. The app is fine, but you will be asked to rate the app every single time you open it, and then multiple times throughout the day. I am using this to dictate patient charts while our regular system is down, and I get a new "rate our app" pop up after EVERY dictation. That's about 20 times per day. For $5 purchase price, I expect not to have a ton of pop-up messages during use. They are very frustrating.

Rate this app. Done, now quit asking.

Dont buy full version. When i updated to full version for 4.99$ all my recordings are gone. They were really important to me

It's Awesome!. Very nice app. Use it to record class lectures for my students. It interfaces nicely with other apps (eg DropBox) for upload. Sound quality is good. While the recording dashboard is clear. The developers made some key improvements in its upgrades. My go to audio recording app these days.

Confusing. Excellent at long recordings. Had a meeting 2 1/2 hours long recorded with no problem. Sound quality, excellent. Use of software, not very user-friendly. Trying to transcribe my notes hitting pause in between, brings me to the beginning. Attempting to use bookmarks, gives the option to name the bookmarks, I do, and bookmark names don't show up, just the times. Finding it a bit confusing. Took me a long time to figure out how to go from the recording screen to the list where I could find on my recordings and then to find all of the bookmarks. So, excellent to record and listen all at once, not so user-friendly to transcribe.

Basic functions are puzzling. I like the recorder. It has good sound and it allows me to slow the speed if I want to transcribe. However I am having issues with very basic functions. I can’t play back and listen to the recording I select. Instead it scrolls to the top and only lets me play back the most recent one. I cannot find a manual, only what looks like an ad with photos.

Response to 5/17 review.. I reviewed the app in 5/17 and want to change my review to 5 stars. The support team reached out to me promptly and showed me how to perform the functions I reported were not available on the 5/17 review. I give this app now a 5 star and the support team a 6 star!

Didn't really feel like writing this review!. I like this app but I was coerced by its creators into writing this review. Their request for a review has two options, 1. Rate the app now or 2. Remind me later. The "Remind me later" option means that they will keep on asking you to rate them over and over again, ad infinitum. So, I'm really rating them only to stop that annoying little white window from popping up practically every time I open the app. For me, this is a five star app, but until they add a third option of "don't ask me again" as most other apps have in their review requests, I will take away one star for their lack of know-how and another for not knowing the meaning of finesse.

FTP sync. After you have synced the file to server, no way to know which one has been synced. There should be option of color change or check mark or something else to know some of the files have been synced and some are pending. Clicking support link on their website goes to middle of nowhere.

Stable, flexible & feature rich. This is the only stable app I have found in the App Store that enables you to record at 44.1 kHz or higher and 32 bit depth. It also gives you the ability to bypass the iPhones internal audio circuitry. I have literally tried every recording application in the App Store and this is the best. There are no longer other features to buy to have the full Alon app. There are also now no advertisements. I use this app on a iPhone 6s+ and have not experienced any of the problems mentioned in the other reviews. I use this app with my Shure MV88 stereo mic for impresive CD-quality music recording. With the Shure Motiv app running in the background and set up the the way you choose the Alon app Records with the settings in both apps when the MV 88 is used. This is an excellent combination. Customer support is the best I've encountered.

Dr. Two complaints. 1. Inability to delete recordings 2. Prompts to "rate the app" after each use Otherwise, works as expected.

PERFECT for Songwriters! ⭐️. This app is perfect for Songwriters! I love how I am able to record quickly, and to listen back to my ideas, and have them flow and play automatically, one right after another. I also appreciate that the creator of this app made two apps that we can use. I use one for songwriting, and the other to record my piano improvisation. Both are basically the same app, and I use both apps every week. This app helps me to write a song every week! I highly recommend this app! Great little app for recording. The UI takes a little getting used to but these guys have made a great app for recording lectures or whatever. Lots of integrations with cloud storage tools. They have responded to feedback and made improvements based on our email exchanges.

Awesome!. I have MANY voice recorder apps but only use this one. It does everything I need it to. Records in lots of formats, can easily add an afterthought to a note anytime after recording it, can organize recordings into groups/folders which is a necessity when you have a LOT like me, the list goes on. Sure, it's not much to look at display-wise... I'd rather see an old-style meter w/needle moving as I record, like other apps, & some more eye-pleasing colors like tan with blue, black or red. Gets a 0 for it's display but 10 for it's content & that's what counts most. Best yet!

Good but could be easier to do edits. For years I used Olympus dictation. It was a bit easier to edit and to switch from insert to overwrite mode.

This application literally does everything it should.. I only use it to record daily audio logs. I sent those over to Google drive. Don’t do much else.

Title. Everything comes back the way I dictated it🥳 That has not always been the case with other systems.

Frankly, I wish others could have this app.. I have mostly used this app offline. The only time I used while connected to the internet, it asked me to give it a review. I was not prepared for this and so I don’t actually know what to say. Hence, I’ve appreciated the app in all manner and so I give a 5star.

Thanks for the stereo options, but nix the rate reminder every time I launch the app. I’m visually impaired, and love the accessibility of the app. Nice work on the 2 finger double tap for voiceover users. Please though get rid of the rate reminder every single time I launch the app. it is starting to get a bit annoying. I’ve seen reviews offering this suggestion as well. One other thing, the manual could be better written with headings and more detailed explanation of what the tools do. for example the conjunction item appears to do not a thing, unless I don’t really understand. The manual has screen shots, but not enough text explaining what things do. This would help those of us who are blind understand key aspects of the app. over all I give this a 4 out of 5.

Don't keep asking. Since I purchased I would expect that I do not have to rate the app if I prefer not to rate it.

It's pretty decent. The rate app pops up every time so that's annoying besides that it's good.

Lots of great features but memory hog. This app has almost every feature you might want in a memo app. I've tried lots of them (about 15) and this has the best combination of features and usability. I've noticed, for instance, that sound quality when recording memos can be a problem with other apps but the sound quality here is great. Drawbacks: The user interface is a bit clunky and outdated but doesn't take too long to master. Also, this app is a huge memory hog, which is the main reason I don't use it nearly as often as I would otherwise.

Not as good as I thought it would be. A little bit immature as yet. Need simplicity and a guarantee that your recording will actually work. Uploading to cloud repositories is still laborious. R

Excellent reliable program. I have been using this program for at least 18 months and have found it reliable and efficient. I send recordings to dragon dictation for automatic transcription. I recently had a glitch with my dropbox settings and the online support was virtually instant and efficient. Thank you Alex.

Something with bookmarks happened. I use Iexplorer by macroplant to do file management. However deleting recordings causes the app to crash. Now when I uninstall and reinstall alon the data is deleted and works again. I record hourly on my phone and this deletion problem causing crashing is very annoying to me

Very useful. This is a great little app. I use it everyday for work recording my counselling sessions. Very easy to step up and use.

Very responsive developer. Was looking for an MP3 recorder rather than M4a and struggling to find an app that allowed easy review while dictating, as a hardware dictaphone does. This app now works very well - provided one selects “without reverse” under “rewind recording time” in settings. This setting allows overwriting from the exact point you have paused the review, rather than the point you initially returned the slider to. The developer was very responsive to feedback which led to this setting being introduced, and the Pro app has everything I need.

Works mostly well. Works well for me over last 6month for dictating letters. The slider functionality is confusing - on pause it returns to the start of playback. Would be easier to be able recording from where playback paused to overwrite previous recording. Otherwise happy with different revording qualities and email funtilnality.

ALON Dictaphone version 1.3. This app is a treat!!! In this app there is options which I was looking for in other apps and could not find: a possibility of bulk deleting of recordings and playing a list of files, one track or random files. Highly recomend.

PhD life saver. Absolutely loving this product. Have it on both phone and iPad to back each other up. Have done so many interviews already without one hiccup! Love the fact it's easy to use and save in any online cloud server as additional backup! Thanks so much.

Unhappy user. This app is complicated and has a steep learning curve. It has too many options and settings. For anyone who has used a real professional handheld dictaphone, this app is very frustrating. It is nowhere near a replacement for a real dictaphone. One of the greatest frustrations is that from the moment you start using it, you are constantly bugged to rate it, before you even have a chance to learn it. The developers would serve their users (and consequently themselves) much better if they put more time into making it user friendly and less time into bugging users for a rating. I gave up.

Excellent. Excellent, well suited to purpose. I like the wide choice of recording qualities. File management is a little unintuitive but works well once I am used to it. I would like to see more control over naming of new files. For example, maybe a template such as [text].[date code].[more text].

Professional layout & easy to use. This app stands out amongst it's competitors. The layout is easy to use and straightforward and uploading clips from the app is a breeze. I use with with a lav mic and get studio quality recordings.

Messy UI confusing functionality - ultimately infuriating. Like so many apps I was forced to purchase the full version in order to send the sound recordings outside. It's quite a simple thing they need to get right. Simply create a recording and then edit it, adding new sections, deleting others. But they have this obscure sliding system where you're forever clicking various buttons to try and edit sections, merely just creating more and more new recordings instead of editing the one session. A waste of six dollars and my Sunday night.

Ok. iPad sound control display disappears after using the app. Also getting nagged continuously to rate the app detracts from using it, otherwise it seems to do the job ok

I fully functional sound recording application. This application does what it says it does and it works very well. It has a large array of options for sending audio where you need to go.

Email. Cant email files, wants to break them up. Pretty annoying. Would prefer not to have that. Otherwise all these products are the same.

Good. Not as many features as what I see in their manual for other devices but it's early stages (v1.3) I can record, edit recording, name file and organize easily, email function works. Would be good to remove portions of the recording instead of only record over (quite sections) Email function currently seems to only send one file at a time (although will have all files selected come up one after the other to be sent) needs to have them able to be sent in one email My recordings are currently displaying 30min instead of zero start time (do final recording will be 31min instead of 1)

Intuitive and stable. No crashes yet and figured it out effortlessly. The one area that did take a sec was how to delete recordings. Just slide it to the left to reveal the delete button. Simple!

Good - flexible. User friendly and allow to upload to various cloud based applications. Was very annoyed however that it kept asking me to evaluate the app every three seconds !

Auto pause works.. Stop demanding ratings because look what you're getting as ratings, useless forced polluted ratings just to get rid of nag screen that don't tell us anything true about the app. It's still buggy. includes the automatic pausing feature but it's useless without a low cut filter to take out low frequency rumble the slightest breeze or office fan triggers it to record. Now I have noticed after writing a review, it's bugging me again! Down to two stars soon to be zero for that. Especially because it asks for a rating in the middle of a recording I just started

To Clarify. For anyone looking for a program that transcribes audio to (written) notes, or if you're looking for the ability to dictate notes, such as Dragon Naturally Speaking, this is NOT IT. I just purchased this and already have two recording programs that work beautifully. So I'm going to rate this a 3, because I can't leave a review without assigning a star rating. I want to clarify that is is not a true dictation program, it is an *audio*. recording program with a good filing system and editing abilities. It does not transcribe as indicated by the dictaphone name.

Flipping amazing!. It is solid and does as advertised. The only drawback to me is deleting files is not obvious or easy like in many other applications. I believe it to be more user challenges than product design. I go to many meetings and seminars and see people frantically taking notes missing the essence of what is being said. I sit back and give it the attention it deserves and simply click play to refresh on what is needed. Quality is impressive considering the distance some of these speakers are at.

Nice quality dictaphone. Cool dictaphone app. The quality is superb. Very easy to use and intuitive. It's better with the add bookmark feature. I tried it on my apple watch a and it worked great.

Excellent Voice Recorder. I really find this app useful. I have used many recorder over my lifetime. I mainly use them for dictation to advance my education. One feature I'd like to see on your next update is the a means of arranging the order of recordings in a list

Works simply well. This app works simply well, that is what I was looking for in sound recording. The downloading of sound recording is also very easy to do. Over all this is a very usable app for recording voice.

Excellent!. I bought the app to use for dictating material for my students in my iPad. The sound quality is excellent. And the fact I can upload directly to our FTP for posting directly to our website -- bonus!!!

Excellent and worth the money!. But the "Please Rate" pop-up window was a little persistent and won't leave you alone until you rate it and/or write a review. So I can only hope it will start showing up after this review is written and product rated. Thank you though.

Much better, than iphone voice recorder, BUT needs some improvements. Great recorded sound quality, categories are useful, transfer between apps is great. Here are some downsides: When increased gain level, it adds distortion to sound, when sound is too loud. Needs realtime mic normalization. The cut, paste interface is hard to use. It hard to set cursors precisely at right position. It would be better, if bookmarks could be utilized for it, so we can preset section to be cut or worked on. Otherwise it's almost useless. It would be great to add convertion between mp3 and wav.

Very Nice. I think this app will more than meet your needs. There is certainly a learning curve with regards to the interface. I like all the export and backup options that are available. I don't think you will be disappointed. Give it a try.

Good note taking app. This app is recommended for anyone studying that needs to take verbal notes. It allows you to take notes and also set up bookmarks for easy access. The app now works with the apple watch. It's amazingly easy to use with it.

Excellent service support. All and all I like this better than the basic voice record on the phone. There were some minor issues on uploading but the server support really was helpful.

Good useful app, legit review. It's a very useful tool, you just have to take the time to learn. If your actually good with maneuvering through tech stuff, it shouldn't be any trouble at all... Import and export features are top notch, above and beyond any other app I've worked with (audioshare is nice too). Makes adding voice overs to audio, very easy, which was a difficult app to find.

The most fully featured voice recorder for iPhone. In a category littered with freemium junk, this app stands out as a clean feature filled voice recorder and dictaphone that is worth paying for.

Excellent. I've used only one other similar app. Still, this deserve 5* because of ease of use, simplicity, excellent quality of record, versatility of record.

Seems like it will do what I need. I used this for a couple of weeks and it worked pretty well. However now it constantly crashes 10 seconds after start up. It is now useless to me. What I need is for an app to record in MP3 and to automatically update to dropbox. It seems like it will do that nicely. I am writing this review to get rid of the pesky reminder to write a review, which I don't need when I'm about to record.

Good for class, with one drawback.. This is great for recording lectures. I like the ability to store recordings to drop box. I only wish that you had the option of playback speeds at 1.3 or 1.5 times, as 2 times is usually too fast to really understand what any person is saying.

Waste time. The worst purchase for $ 5 ever made me. Illogical and inconvenient interface, each function - a puzzle for the mind. I am sure that mobile apps have to do our lives easier, not more difficult. Them should be for us, not us for them. Them should save our time and not waste it. I regret the wasted money and time.

Great Recording App. I needed a simple App to record the intro and outros of my podcast and this just fit the bill, it allows tons of different ways to transfer the files over as I need to merge them with the actual interviews and recordings and I'm able to match the quality of the Audio from my desktop. maybe too many bells and wistles for what I need but I rather have the options than having to buy multiple apps for the options.

Use all the time. Love it!. I teach piano, and to help students practice ensemble music, I record and send both the Primo and Secondo parts. I use the metronome so they will know exactly when to come in. After recording, it is very easy to type in the name of each part along with the metronome tempo. It is just as easy to send directly to them through email.

Great recording app!. This is a useful app for note talking. It has many tools for recording and editing, making it perfect for work. It allows you to send your records and the interface is very easy to use.

Very good. If you have to record something is simple with this app. Sharing it's also a future very helpful and easy to use. Notes never be easier.

Truth seeker. This app is really great at getting the truth. Meaning you can hear many different sounds. You can even hear sounds from more than 10 feet away. You can also keep them and file a name for them for future use.

Amazing... This is what apples (voice memo) should have been. The ability to jump to next recording by pressing the arrow and also list/recording loop is exactly what I needed.. Very important feature that I can't believe voice memos does not have. And iCloud backup. Extra silly 2 cents....The interface looks a tad bit childish as far as the Ui is concerned. But this is really a great app.. Make the buttons look a bit more professional and I'll give it 100 stars...

Best recording app. Best App for the money! But they bug with asking me to write a review every time I open it! Why do so many apps do this!? Why would you want to annoy me before I make a review about you? I'm knocking one star off for that. Oh and I wish naming the files was easier. Other then that, all the other raving reviews are true.

Works good especially from Apple Watch. It takes s masters degree in engineering to figure out how to get everything to work but then it works good and has replaced my mini recorder. It could use a longer recording period because I rarely record conversations under 45 minutes. I do not like the constant request to be rated every time you open it or change something. Dump it guys if you want 5 stars. I took off 1 for that hassle.

Easy, once you experiment. I use this app often, and it is better than the app my tablet came with. The microphone picks up even softer voices. After you experiment with the tools, this app is very easy to use. You can categorize your recordings and move them around within file folders, if needed.

AMAZING!. Alon lets me record notes, just like voice memos, but better. I can now convert my notes onto my computer easier, because the files are compatible now. This is super awesome! Thanks Alon

Great app. Recording is simple and there is no time limit on how long you can record. I haven't yet delved into learning how to organize my recordings, but so far this app is excellent.

Super Note Taker is super. Over the years, I have used several different note-taking apps for my extensive writing and reporting responsibilities, and this one is probably the best: I'm hedging a little because I've only used it now for about a week, however, that includes a keynote address and a day-long conference. It performed flawlessly, and I particularly made good use of the footnotes capabilities. Later, I found the ability to regulate the speed of playback very helpful for transcription purposes.

Best Voice Note Taker. This app is a great voice note taker. It has very good quality when playing back the recordings, it is great at recording anything from lectures at school to meetings, etc. If you really need a good app to take audio recordings, download this one.

Fantastic Recording APP!. I am currently sending my recordings from another app - it had issues with saving & that is the main purpose. User-friendly & the FULL APP is affordable & has everything I need! I am using this particularly because of a NASTY NEIGHBOR - police need evidence, next time she is messed up & yelling absurdities at me out her window or in the hall - I got my Evidence! So easy & clear. Good for remaming & settings for quality too!

Fantastic App!. Great to record long meetings or short memos to myself. I especially love it during training meetings, so I can go back over my notes while listening, and see exactly what I missed, or play back any time I have a question. I can share the files with others on my team, so we ALL have the same recording. It's a great tool for professionals, as well as for personal use. I wish I had this when my little girl did her singing performances for me-- I'd have a great CD to enjoy now!

Good app, but a little confusing. This is a quality app, I only use two apps for audio notes and this is one of them. It can be a little confusing at times, the layout felt a little odd at first. However, as I am using the app more nowadays, things are starting to fall in place.

I like it very much. Alon recording was my second choice up until now. With today's update you got number one spot. I like the additional new features especially the start recording on launch. This was a badly missing feature. Thanks and keep up the good work. I recommend this app to everyone.

Great tool. I have tried a variety of recording apps and found this to be the most practicaland easy to use. The dropbox sharing feature is seamless which adds huge value. I use the tool for lectures and meetings and am highly satisfied

Just so far so good. It is such a convenient way to make recordings, i often make a lot of records in class, and repeat when i have free time or need to make my lesson more clear. So powerful tool

Amazing. Worked like a charm😊 Used this app to create a voiceover file to add to a documentary. Sound quality was better than my lapel mic. Was able to use it on the go and send myself the files via Onedrive. Very rare that an app exceeds my expectations.

Great App and Support. Finally, a versatile app with thoughtful options on storing and organizing your files. Also, many apps don't allow you to import files from other applications. This one does! I like being able to review recordings of meeting notes on my phone and not have to carry a separate device like a recorder. Tech-support was great they got back with me immediately on my questions and were very thorough. I would really like them to add cuing to incrementally go forward and backward in recordings.

It's Okay. Purchased before 9/15 update, fairly good then. After "update", lost .5 speed and can no longer delete anything. New combining feature only allows certain files to be combined (still have not figured out how it chooses which files can be combined). Customer service is almost non-existent, and still no on-line help files. Be very sure about what you want this app to do before purchasing.

Recording a book. I am using this app to record a book which I will then transcribe into a manuscript for my publisher. The only annoying thing is that the app is asking me to rate it. Other than that the Bluetooth microphone that I'm using is working really well with the app and I'm pleased overall with my purchase.

Excellent. The UI was hard to navigate, but once I figured it out it was great. I don't use this for dictation. I use it to record band rehearsals. Love the ability to adjust recording level. I had a recording app on my iPod touch 4th gen but it couldn't take advantage of new hardware in my iPad Air. Still not near the quality as my Zoom H2, but it's ok for capturing an idea or getting a rough take to practice with.

Very reliable!. I had a different app that I liked, but it crashed so I tried this one. It has been much more reliable, and allows different playback speeds which is great if you have a professor who is a slow talker. I like that you can rename the files with pretty long names, and it organizes them. I liked it so much that I upgraded for more features. Highly recommended!

Reliable, but.... Worst interface of any app i own. No intuition allowed. Symbols mean nothing, muliple gestures needed for the simplest tasks. How to discard? Where to save as? Good luck. Just getting to these tasks takes multiple search and fail attempts. A massive improvement would be if the symbols and page flow were designed as if no instructions were needed. It shouldn't be this complicated. It's a simple recording app.
