Best material when the app works. App

Great Magazine but.... I enjoy reading this magazine, always has good info. But the app needs some help. It either won’t up 100% or freezes up and then ask you to update the app. It also won’t buy/ download new issue of the magazine.

App is now terrible. Can no longer view issues offline, which is huge for me. Has been this way for sometime.

Awesome. Love this magazine first off guns are cool but often gun magazines are not. Recoil has an awesome look and feel. It is well written and informative and I like there is a wide verity of subject matter. I also love the DYI articles. Recoil also seems to be balanced and doesn't seem to specifically endorse on brand or another. I get the impression that they go "That's cool lets write about it!"

Disappointing. When I first found Recoil magazine I was amazed, I thought the industry finally had a great gun life style magazine. Those thoughts quickly diminished after reading an editors strange views, which I found to sound very anti second amendment. They have since tried to mend this mistake by publishing an article about the second amendment and how important it is.... This magazines editors and publisher don't share the same love for guns and the second amendment as us real Americans do. This is just another corporation trying to milk money out of us gun owners. I'll stick to the boring old NRA magazines, at least they share the same views I have.

The update is disapointing.. After the update I lost access to my older issues from my digital download subscription. I no longer have or know the email I used when originally signing up. Lost all the early issues. I was able to restore most of the issues since I converted to subscribing through iTunes. They are now asking me to pay for the special issues even though I had them before. Very disappointed in loosing all of the older issues.

Good content poorly presented. I really like the magazine but their putting it on the iPad seems an afterthought. Crashes frequently, slow movement, and requires a lot of zooming in and out. What irritates me most is the low resolution of the gorgeous photos. They simply weren't made for the retina display of the new iPad. This is basically a PDF slapped together so they sell a few extra subscriptions digitally. They got my money this year but I'll not renew unless they start taking this medium seriously. There is just too much potential for them here.

Poor image Quality. When I first picked up Recoil in a bookstore, I was immediately enthralled with the vibrant design and image quality. When I found the ios app, I was excited to pick up the back issues for a fraction of the print edition price. While still a great magazine, I soon found that the magazine consists of fairly low-res scans of the print version (which is over-sized). If you zoom to 100% of the print version, you will be disgusted with pixelated ugliness instead of the beautiful detail you should have. Popular Science gets it right 100% of the time with sharp images, so I know its possible. Fix this issue and 5-stars, plus I would definitely subscribe, otherwise I may just stick with the print version (maybe....)

Value Fading. Recoil started with a bit of inconsistency, but improved slightly. Now, with the latest "Unavailable" listing of an issue just released, I'm disappointed. I'm beginning to question what value I'm getting compared to other e-zines that are more reliable and consistent. If Recoil wants to keep me as a subscriber and compete with other magazines they need to sack up and at least to deliver. Even better; deliver on clearly communicated schedule. Don't make us question you Recoil, make us echo how great you are.

Extremely Disatified. I have been a recoil magazine subscriber on iPhone several years. It seems like the app is always broken and I’m unable to access any content whatsoever. It consistently asks me to subscribe to become a member if I want access to view the digital magazines, however, I already am. When I try to re-pay and do it again in hopes of accessing any content it tells me I’m already a member and displays my next renewal date. However, I still cannot access any of the content whatsoever. I’ve tried to restore my subscription dozens of times and never works. This is beyond frustrating and it seems like there’s not a fix anywhere.

One month later, still fails. OK, the app is handy to use... but restoring purchases from the earlier version still fails to deliver results. Apparently all the back issues have been re-coded for the new version, but that disconnect in service keeps them out of reach. At least I have an old iPad on the shelf to comfort me. Hint, sometimes one bad feature can be a deal breaker! They will get more stars after the next bug fix. Maybe it's not the app.

No Zoom/ Blurry pages. At least in the other magazine Recoil produces, OffGrid, I can zoom and the pages are not blurry. For example in Recoil on page 36 of issue 9 I can't even read the reviews!! The words are to blurry and I can't zoom. Plus some pages don't even appear if you are not in landscape mode. But when you go into landscape mode you can't zoom so the words are to small and blurry!! Please fix because I did buy a subscription and will cancel if not fixed by next issue.

App is usually broken. Most times when I try to use the app it will not reinstall my iTunes subscription. I just cancelled my subscription. Save your money and the frustration.

Great Magazine, Great App. Recoil has very quickly become the industry leader with innovative & fresh presentation and groundbreaking content. With several new firearm titles every month on the racks, it's not easy continue to stand above the competition month after month. But Recoil, with both it's printed & app presentations, delivers with each new issue.

Can’t download my issues. I have paid for subscription, but I can’t download any issues

Solid App; Solid Magazine. At the heart of this app is a truth telling real deal magazine. The people that work there know there stuff. They are focused on the culture of the gun community and what that means from the civilian shooter all the way up to the pinnacle of operators. Great read every time. The App lets you know when the next issue is available and manages your subscription. Could not recommend more. Only negative is that it takes a few weeks for the app to get updated after a version upgrade to iOS. Once it was done, however, everything was golden.

I would give it zero stars if I could.. this upgrade screws you. The app removed previous purchases which either needs to be fixed or refunded... It also deleted all the concealment issues... They don't mention these problems until you upgrade you're app then they recommend you use the old app.... Do they understand how this works? There's no going back with Apple! In response to the reply... Yes... Thanks Captain Obvious... Of course I entered my iTunes info and restored the issues you decided to make available. My point is this... Did anyone from the company actually used the app before foisting it on the users? If so maybe you would have waited until ALL the purchased content was available. I don't pay to be your beta tester... Quick follow up... you should ask for your money back from the Cub Scout troop of Bayonne NJ, their web skills just ain’t cutting it... this version is just as F’d up as the previous. Really, you guys need to get serious...

Great publication but crappy app and app support. Save yourself the trouble and DO NOT subscribe via apple. Zino apps has made this app horribly buggy for years and I just lost all my mag issues for about the 6th time and I have no interest in dealing with Zino apps support again. Canceled subscription and requested refund. Recoil, you’d be making a great business decision if you’d go with a different app developer...you’re losing subscribers that don’t really want your content.

Update still awful ...lost back issues. In fairness they have responded but everything they have told me to do so far doesn't work. They keep telling me to use a log in I had for a different publication ...doesn't work. Current recoil log in ...doesn't work. The back issues are in the zinio app but it wants to charge me. I already paid for them. I have been told they would be ultimately put back in the recoil app and then told they wouldn't. So far no one has explained why they can't simply be put back in the recoil app. What I don't think they realize is much of the content is stuff you want to refer back to. Judging by all the one star ratings many others feel the same way.

Great content. I first started getting the hard copy magazine in the store and was pleased to see it available as a digital download. The magazine is of the highest quality and offers content of the same regard. The stories are well written and are focused on being informative. I did see in the store that there is a target pack with the latest issue. I wish digital subscribers would get these emailed to them to print. Also the archive function is a little glitchy. Not a huge issue though. You've got a life long reader in me. Thanks. Chris Cleveland Ohio

Really nicely done.... I've only had this subscription for about 24 hrs, but I'm thoroughly satisfied! I've loved this magazine since it's first publication. I think I'll continue to pick up the hard copy... I'm a little old fashion and I love holding an actual book or magazine while I read it. That being said, you can't beat the ease of having several books and magazines on your iPad for travel. The app is nice too. Go to the table of contents, click on the picture of the article you want to read, it jumps to it. One of the top tabs brings up a drop down menu of the articles; no need to see advertising. Another tab allows you to "scroll" through multiple pages until you find something that catches your eye. It's really well thought out. I'D HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MAGAZINE AND THIS APP AS A READING TOOL.

Horrible!. After many attempts to "restore" my purchases and multiple charges showing up on my iTunes account for each "restore" I am contacting the company about refunds for all purchases. This is completely unacceptable from a company charging so much money and continuing to produce a written magazine that they charge upwards of $12 for each issue, that they cannot solve this problem and make sure everyone has the the access they have purchased. If I ran this company, I would be completely embarrassed at the negative reviews and would try my best to recover the few loyal subscribers left...

The best magazine but not the best app. Unfortunately, the app always seems to have issues. Recoil is by far my favorite firearm magazine but the app is often broken. Especially lacking the ability to read the magazines offline, which is often the entire point of having a magazine reader.

Mag is a 5, app is a ZERO. Love the magazines and it’s great content, but the app absolute crap. Crashes constantly. When it does run many issue are blank. I can see the pages in the across the bottom but when I tap on one a blank page is all I get. Have worked with customer service over and over again. They do keep trying but the issue never is fully resolved. Latest issue is I can not see any of the content at all, it keep asking me to subscribe again. Fix was to log in direct and not use the iTunes connection. Works now but shouldn’t be this difficult. Even when it is working there still is banner ads asking you to subscribe even if you already do. Those got to go away!! Come guys you can do better.

Excellent Magazine. Articles are very informative and have lots of logic to them even though you can't purchase all of the items reviewed in the Magazine much of what they talk about is applicable to many different firearms. Each review is looked at from a logical point of view which is something that has been lost to journalism in the past 25 years. Excellent Magazine I will continue to buy and continue to support Recoil.

Great Magazine !!!. This is an awesome magazine, great articles and pictures. Lot's of how to and do it yourself sections is a great addition. The other really cool thing is this mag tells you where to get every part that they have on the guns and all the other featured items with price and website,and even better with the iPad on any page you can tap on the items website and it brings you right to it. My only gripe with the digital version is like other reviews have stated when you zoom in the words get nice and clear but the image stays blurry and pixelated other then the fact the paperback issue comes with a pull out target all and all not bad on the iPad. (Just fix the pixelation on zoom)

Recoil, you are letting us down. The new versionof this app doesn't work correctly and that is putting it mildly. I've been waiting over two weeks for the back issues I paid for to appear and I still don't have them. I have three Apple devices that are less than 6 months old and updated to the newest version of the OS and it still won't work on any of them. You need to fix it quickly, refund our money if you can't and post a link where we can contact you by email regarding refunds for purchased copies we can't access. A post on the progress you are making to rectify thiswould be nice, too. Recoil is only a great magazine if the readers can get to their issues. How about stepping up here and getting this fixed? Thank you for finally updating the issues. I think most of the bad reviews could have been avoided if you had kept everyone informed about what was going on and not just as a reply to one person who posted a review. Recoil has been great from the first issue, but you need to keep your followers in the loop.

Was great, but is now horrible. I would not recommend buying this right now. The App keeps crashing and can't find a way to uninstall and reinstall. Frustrating and they automatically bill you for something you're not getting (bought the 1 year Subscription and it auto-renews). If the Developers are honest and credible - they'll issue an email to their Subscribers telling us it will be fixed in the next few days!!! What's up with this App?? DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE (Moved to 2 Stars instead of 1): Finally got it to work again for a couple of days by deleting my two Issues, then restoring my Purchases - then it locked up again until I repeated this. Oh well, at least it works for awhile. Next Question - "When is Issue #3 going to be available for those of us that purchased the 1 year Subscription??? It's been out at the Stores (Hard Copy Magazine) for over a week now ... I would hope/think that the DIGITAL Issue would be available to us first!!! What the Heck Recoil Magazine? Get it together - you have a great Publication, but your Credibility is being ruined by this!!!"

Don't download until it's fixed. I have to start with the fact that I absolutely love this magazine but after this update it makes me wonder if I should continue to get digital subscriptions from any app. I previously had a sub for two years with a previous magazine and when the magazine stopped all saved content was gone. Similar to this app. I had every issue from #1 to present. Download the update and all saved content was erased. Granted they are saying all back issues with eventually make it back to download but this update should have never been released in the first place.

RECOIL is the best. This is the best magazine for shooters. It's like the SHOT Show, only on paper. They write excellent reviews, and seem to know what shooters want to read about. The only thing is, they need to update their app. Obviously, I'm going to keep on subscribing, but it's a little tedious seeing the "developer needs to update" and the "this may slow down your iPad" message. As of 4/6/17, I uninstalled and reinstalled the RECOIL app, and everything seems to be fine. 5 stars.

Recoil app review. It's been frustrating trying to find Recoil at the newsstands lately. So I was very happy that it was available as an e-zine, although I still miss the feeling of the quality of their paper issue. I like the app and it's ability to preview the issue before you buy it, several other e-zines that I'm interested in don't have this feature and I'm less likely to buy a back issue. Note: Several of their early issues don't have a preview feature. Wish they did though. An improvement I'd like to see... A link to some of the featured articles and advertisers, maybe I'd like to buy something. Imagine that!

Good Mag. Annoying App. App asks me to download latest version every time I open it, but I have the latest version.

Great magazine... HORRIBLE APP. This is an awesome magazine with great content and the price for a digital subscription is just right, but this app is absolutely horrible! Asks if you want to restore your content every single time you open the app. And so many times do I have to contact the publisher to reinstate my subscription because the app frequently stops downloading content and tells you you need to pay for an issue when it should be included in your subscription. Fix the app and I’d gladly change my one star review to a five.

Great magazine not so great app. For approximately three months I've had this app and it was working fine I would automatically get my updates and there would be no issues but in the last two months the app has refused to update receiving the new issues furthermore I cannot even see my previous purchases once I load up the app and select on it there's no new information and all I get is a white screen I think this is a major issue that recoil needs to address

Ok but getting better. I bought the one year subscription because I wanted to support a magazine that was about tactical gear, guns, and other cool things. Well a new magazine didn't come out for months. In this last publication they wrote about how they had a new editor. It seems like its getting more organized. They should have offered the back published magazines to those who bought a subscription. At this point I don't know if ill renew.

Awesome app and magazine!. What can I say this is a great way to get a magazine! It's always with you, easy to read and has great links to gear. The links put you one click away from the dealers website so you can explore gear straight from the magazine and then when you finished you can jump right back onto the magazine!

High end Shooter mag. This is straight gun porn, with insightful articles. Something to enjoy…as long as they keep subtleties of right wing politics out of it…it’s the best…hands down!

great gun mag. I'm sick and tired of seeing deer in crosshairs every other page ad in other firearms pubs, Recoil is different, focuses on defense, has great detailed tests both pics and text, for guns, gear, knives, how to articles not seen in other mags this detailed, and as an off road rider, issue 5 even has an article on the Christini AWD 300! The editor made a mistake with comments about MP7 in issue 4 but we all make mistakes! Current editorial is spot on so I subscribed and people making comments about how this is an anti-second amendment pub should take a good look at who the real antis are, the ones who after every tragedy are the first to cry more gun control for personal political gain knowing full well they and their families are always protected by bodyguards. I don't find the digital version as hard to read as others have mentioned, but every mag is better in hard copy.

Enjoy the magazine but the app is crap. I used to be able to read the digital magazine whenever I wanted but now it takes forever to get the purchase restored. What did I do to have to restore my purchase every time I want to read the magazine? The answer of restore purchase and then wait 24 hours to read and is a copout from the developer. I've been trying to read the latest issue for over a week now. Do I come back everyday to try to read it? No as I have other things in life to do but when I want to read it it should not be a process to read the magazine. I'm at the point of wanting my money back for my subscription because of how crappy the app is performing for me

Unable to download folio...ugh!. I really do hope the app developers are working on a fix for the current issues. Really disappointing that I'm unable to access my paid subscription. I can probably assume that the recent Apple updates has contributed to these issues. Overall, the app creates a great reading experience for one of my favorite magazines without the messy stack of hardcopies scattered around my home.

Scam. I paid for a years subscription and received 2 issues of the 6 i should have received annually. 2017 rolls around and two months in I was recharged for another year. They still owe me 4 issues and now they charge me for 6 additional issues. If you buy this app in the middle of the year or late in the year as i did you will only receive issues until the end of the year at which point you will be auto subscribed and charged for the next year. You will not receive a full 6 issues unless you buy in January. I asked for a refund in full. This magazine has been going down in quality the last year (read: 133 pages about designer wheels for cars, no joke this is in the most recent issue) and now they pull this on its consumer base. Many of my friends said don't support this company for various reasons, now i see why.

Great, however. I have bought a bunch of the issues on my iPad and really like them. Great content, lots of new gear; just packed every time. However, I got the iPhone 6 plus and downloaded the most recent issues and the pictures all are all grainy and pixelated. Not sure if that is on Apple's end or Recoil's, but it needs to get fixed. The print will zoom in just fine, but every picture is pretty well toast. The magazine is great and would really like to be able to see all the awesome detail of the fantastic pictures on a phone that has such a huge screen.

RECOIL. I like the magazine for its' articles and products the magazine reviews and evaluates (pros/cons). The only issue I find not appealing are the photos I try to get a better look at by my iPhone. The photos are blurry when I try to magnify them. I also did not like that my phone will not allow me to store more than one magazine. Overall great magazine. Keep up the good work!

Poor UX, No Access or Refunds. I bought a year subscription and cannot access my account or download a magazine.

Good read, loaded with worthless ads. I thought this app/magazine would be nice to take with me when traveling. Initial activation and getting first download is problematic. After several times deleting, downloading, refreshing purchases, and leaving it overnight, it finally rewarded me with the magazine. Readability and presentation are good. However, at the end of the magazine I found a advert of over 100 pages had been included in the download. This would not be too bad except that there is no way to delete the ad which I wasn't interested in, so be prepared for longer downloads and a lot of wasted storage on your device. I would have given this app/magazine 5 stars if there was a way to delete the ad and not be forced to download and waste storage.

Does not work, nothing downloads after subscription.. After subscribing, nothing happens, latest edition does not download. Clicking subscribe just tells you are already subscribed. Thanks for nothing. Luckily it's a 30 day trial. Guess it's back to hard copy.

Recoil is great!!. Wasn't I big fan of digital magazines but this has converted me. I love how you can touch a link and it takes you right to that companies site then you can go right back to the article you were reading.

Great Magazine. I really love this magazine. The articles are very well written and unbiased, if the writers don't like a product they tell you and tell you why. Overall a really awesome magazine.

Glitchy Garbage.. App is still a hot pile of garbage. Great magazine, but not nearly worth the headache using the app to save money!! Just do yourself a favor and subscribe to the paper edition of the magazine. This just crashes repeatedly, and pages are slow to load (if they do at all). Rarely can get through 1 issue without it locking up then crashing.

Need more issues. Good magazine, but their needs to be more issues I get board of checking for more... Come On Recoil

Best of the best magazines. On or offline.. This magazine on iPad works flawlessly all the time I love it. I wish there were more like it! Well done Recoil!

Update. I updated to the new iOS8, then opened my recoil magazine app to find that all the issues needed to be reloaded. When I tried to download, the app kept closing. Frustrating!! Please update the app!!

Terrible. I have had no trouble with this app until this year when I renewed my subscription. I can't download my back issues. In fact I can't find my older back issues. I love this magazine but am thinking of cancelling my subscription unless they fix the problems. Also why no phone numbers to talk to a human to help get the problems sorted out.

IOS8 killed the app.. Since the IOS8 update, the application stopped working. All the editions need to be reloaded, but the app. crashes if you try to reload them. Please fix this...

I'm a believer!!!. I never owened an I pad till 3 month ago. And I always wanted to read an online mag, but I hate paying for any app when you can get most for free. Sooooo, I had already bought issue 2# in a store. Was 8 bucks!!! So I said what the hell, ill drop 4 dollars for this issue "5#". It's the same as reading a mag. But cheaper and cooler. Lol. I just bought issue #4, not to long ago. Great read. Recoil is like maxim men's health gq and vogue all wrapped into one. Oh and there is guns to. Lol. Just buy it. I gave one star so it would catch your eye. But it's a 6 star mag.

Great Magazine App. This is one of the better magazine apps i have downloaded. I'm a gun and off road nut so this is right up my alley. Love the broad range of content and up close crystal clear pictures of everything. Hope this magazine takes off and moves up to a once a month subscription.

Great Magazine terrible app!. Every time the app gets updated all downloaded magazines disappear and then when you try to download them again a potion of them are no longer available for days to weeks. Some of us like reading and rereading this mag but I’ve about had it! This time the new issue of Recoil Concealment is not included but there is a new app for it where I can buy them all over again, it’s exhausting having to jump through the hoops every time!!!

Great content but.... This digital mag is great. Great reviews on equipment, beautiful layout and good articles. However, if you pick up a copy at the newsstand, you'll find a very high polished, beautiful magazine. My biggest complaint about this iPad version is that the pictures aren't high enough resolution. If you zoom in a fair amount to see details, you'll be disappointed to find that the pictures pixelate pretty quickly. The app quits a lot too. I hope they get these things fixed. Otherwise, it's not any value added over getting the real magazine.

Good content, bad app. The articles are great, but the app lets things down. If you close the app, or it sits idle for awhile, it forgets which issue & page you were on. It defaults to the Store page, and you have to go looking for where you left off. Also, it doesn’t save bookmarks in iCloud. When you buy a new iPad, you can download the app but lose all your bookmarks.

Recoil Magazine Review. Recoil is a great magazine! The upper guys made some comments on gun control a while back and that cause a lot of ruckus and that should have never happened. With that said Recoil is a great magazine with great reviews and ideas. In my opinion its definitely worth the money, especially in digital form!

Still Needs Fixing!. The latest version has the same problem as the previous. When I zoom in to read the text on my iPad2 it clears up very nicely but the quality of the pictures/images is horribly pixelated and blurry. Fix this bug and it'll vastly improve the overall experience of your magazine, especially for those of us who've already purchased your product.

Work around for flying.... Agree that this app should work without Internet available, but till that’s fixed - if you open the app in the terminal when you have Internet and leave it up in the background, you can read on the plane. QED. Great magazine with a good point of view - keep it up!

Very well put together with great content!. I find that the Recoil magazine is ver well put together. It's very ascetically pleasing. With such a nice magazine lay out I was worried that it would be poor quality. I was completely wrong. This magazine looks great and has fantastic articles. I am very pleased with my subscription!

The Recoil app is garbage...and probably a scam. Subscriptions are essentially theft. I signed up for a subscription and received nothing. No activation, no login information, nothing. Well, I did receive an email telling me I'd been charged, so they're good at taking your money. I contacted customer support. They just told me to try what I had already tried: attempt "restore purchases". Nope. Doesn't work. I have challenged the charge, deleted the app, and walked as far away from this dumpster fire of a scam as I can.

Best gun magazine ever. In terms of quality of layout, writing and graphics/photos this is the best out there. I have both the magazine subscription and online subscription. Both are out standing. In one word - QUALITY!

Hard to Get Better Then This. Probably the best gun magazine on the planet. The only thing better then the digital version is the paper but for the price savings I would go digital all day long. It's a shame the other gun magazines have not done the same. If you love guns then get the app can't go wrong.

Great mag awful app. When I first subscribed, I’d get recoil and all the special issues with no problem. The last version gave me problems Accessing back issues that I had to get resolved. With this new version accessing the issues I paid for is scattershot, and the special issues like concealment that used to be included? They don’t work, but they will happily direct me to a separate app for another money grab. I’ve about had it with this app, and unfortunately this magazine.

Apps getting worse. The magazine is incredibly good, my all time favorite since the first issue was published. Unfortunately this app has only gotten worse over the years. Just purchased the Nov/Dec 2018 and the app crashes every time I try to open it. I'm currently across the pond and can't go out to my local store and pick up a copy. Aggravating to say the least, makes me think it's time to conduct a zipper drill on my iPad. Keep up the great material though, hopefully I can get caught up soon.

Used to be 5 Stars. I have a subscription for the next year, however the latest issue wont download. The options are to buy, preview, or subscribe. Will update when fixed. Great publication, better and more useful content for people who enjoy shooting, not just gun lovers.

Great mag, terrible app..... Magazine content is second to none. As a subscriber for years, I’ve been very impressed, but the app is horrible and getting worse. I’ve been unable to retrieve both Nov/Dec and Jan/Feb issues. Tried restoring my purchases. Tried deleting the app and reinstalling. Nothing works. The old issues are accessible, but any new content is inaccessible. Sadly, for now I’d recommend staying away until the app developers get their act together.

Very functional and stable. This app presents my issues to me for viewing, let's me view them efficiently and intuitively, and doesn't crash. What more could you ask for???

Doesn’t work with IOS 8. Content is fantastic, but ever since I upgraded to IOS 8 the app is non-functional. I reinstall and download a magazine, open the magazine and the app crashes. When it comes back up the magazine shows that it must be downloaded but the app is non-responsive. It has to be deleted and reinstalled to start the madness all over again. This problem is replicated across every other publication that is using this distribution framework that I have found.

TecTard. I have never wrote one of these on any app. But this is one of the coolest things that I have seen. I am not able to pick up these mags and my wife bless her soul would not get a cool mag with the info that I'm looking for. Awesome mag, great info, and cool articles about people changing the industry.

GTG. Great price compared to paper version. The articles are straight forward with no BS of course the suppliers push their products but seems to me the publishers give you some good info and leave it up to you to decide if you want the product which I find refreshing!

I love recoil. This is probably the best magazine that I've ever seen. I am going to miss Jerry tsai, I credit him for the awesomeness of this mag, but I am a big fan of ian Harrison. My only gripe with the app is that there are times when you can't view an entire picture at once because its on two pages. But, I don't know that that is fixable, so keep up the good work guys

Recoil rocks!. I love this magazine. Great balance of interesting, educational, and fun to read articles. I love the App too. It's a great bargain over the paper magazine and I can take all the issues with me anywhere I go and refer to the articles if I so choose.

Solid, but back issues cost extra. The app is solid and the magazine is great. We are only on issue 6 so I'd think the back issues would be included, but they aren't. If the 5 other back issues were included it would get 5 stars.

First review. I’ve yet to write a review on the App Store after 10 years. But I need to add myself to the growing list of people upset about the constant crashes in this app. I’m a big fan of recoil and their content, but the app is making it nearly impossible to view my subscription. Every time I launch the latest issue the app crashes. If I attempt to open it and go to the last page I was viewing it just crashes again. At this point this app is nearly unusable.

On Target. This mag is great! I love the paper edition but having it with me wherever I go all year long is amazing. I only wish you could get back issues on the app. Something that may spark more App purchase would be gear giveaways for the app readers! Just an idea....

Best of its kind. As an tactical security consultant, IMHO, this publication is by far the best in the business. Informative articles by industry greats. Cuts through the noise to the info you need to know and delivers concise, informative, and engaging articles. Buy the subscription.

On Target!. I was a regular reader of all tactical magazines until Recoil hit the market. The information provided is clear and the pages uncluttered. I am fine with an every other month release as long as the quality of the articles is maintained.

Favorite Magazine. This has quickly become my favorite gun magazine. Good articles, photography, etc. the app has worked flawlessly and I especially like the links that can take you directly to advertiser pages the exit and come right back to the magazine

Recoil rocks. Best tactile and gun mag I have seen. Digital version ties you into the whole world of tactical with a click. Graphics outstanding, subject matter is outstanding, write ups outstanding! Magazine is outstanding! Keep up the good work Recoil Team!

Great magazine, app can be improved. Recoil is a great magazine with lots of info! All the reviews and history about firearms, and war is awesome. The app is ok, and I hope the kinks will get worked out. Not being able to access some of the magazines is a real let down.

Great mag!. In depth articles with meaningful pictures and reviews. Have been reading the print issues since they started a few months ago. This mag is going places.

Good magazine, poor interactivity. Great mag and articles. I wish the articles would be hyperlinked if they have a product web page. It would also be neat if they had some vids of them testing things or doing the how-to stuff. All that said, I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't a great magazine. -d

Great app. The app does the printed version justice. Love the ability to jump right to other web pages straight from the online content. Detailed articles and plenty of pictures - for the rest of you primates.

App has issue customer service is great.. The APP may have some issues but the customer service is great! I will put up with the issues for the content and knowing that customer service is so responsive.

Mag is 5 stars App is 1 star. If you are here, you know that Recoil magazine is quite possibly the greatest firearm and gun culture magazine of all time. You also should know that this app allows you to access the current and back issues for a fraction of the cover price. What you NEED to know is that this app is from bizarro world where the print version comes out before the digital edition. If you have patience, awesome. You should be good to go. If you have common sense and are wondering how in the heck they can get an issue printed and distributed before the digital version gets uploaded, congratulations-you are a rational human being living in the year 2013, unlike the content manager for this app.

REALLY!!!. The magazine is great but the newest app update is the absolute worst ever. Because of it I would tell people to NOT get the digital magazine and avoid the app completely. All back issues are gone and even some of the current ones ask for me to buy or to subscribe even though it is in this subscription period. This isn't even a joke but just a straight disappointment.

Digital subscription is JUNK. After the latest update my online subscription hasn't been the same. It keeps saying to subscribe when I'm already a current subscriber. I've logged on with my Apple ID and I still cannot get the latest issues. I may just go back to the print version...if at all. If you guys can't get this in order, you shouldn't even bother having this online in the first place.

Great magazine. This is not your ordinary magazine. Not like the usual ones where you turn the page and its all adds. This is truly an informative magazine on all types of firearms. I greatly recommend this for new users.

Disappointed.. I am very disappointed by the quality of the magazine. You may be able to read 3/4 of the articles, the other 1/4 are horribly pixelated. I am sure the photography is great, but unfortunately that too gets the low res treatment. I bought the subscription after picking up their softcover magazine. I should have purchased the printed subscription. I really wish they offered refunds.

Recoil is awesome. Great articles and great photos! The coolest thing about the app is the ads are all hot linked. Like a product just tap on 5he link in the ad and that products home page pops up. Recoil has directly sold me quite a bit of product with this feature!

One of the Best. There are very few decent original content magazines available today. This is by far my favorite. If Recoil can continue finding original content; I will keep subscribing!

Great way to read. I used to read magazines alot until I got sick of too much advertising. I must admit reading magazines on ipad is great. Recoil I have found to be a very good informative read and not too much advertising!

Good Customer Service. I enjoy reading recoil and off grid, even more so on my iPad vs buying them in hard copy. The app is buggy, but the customer service is fast and the solution they provide are in fact solutions and temp fixes.

Best Gun Mag Ever!!!. This is by far the best magazine ever. Interesting articles and focuses on what I'm interested in...guns, techniques, how to work on your guns, shooting competitions, cool "bug out vehicles", latest gear, only gun magazine I've read cover to cover .... I just skim the other 6 or 7 that I subscribe to.

Recoil & Offgrid. Both of these magazines are represented most excellently in their respective apps. I'm happy with the price vs. the paper copy and being able to immediately access prior copies. Download is fast and on the iPad Mini 4, works flawlessly.

recoil app. magazine content is great. I encountered a problem once I upgraded the app though, and the upgrade took the pleasure of automatically removing older subscriptions (#2), and the rest are showing up double. I liked the older version of the app, but will still purchase because the content is incredible!!

Decent guy lifestyle magazine. The articles are so and so, what you can expect from a commercial lifestyle magazine I guess, keeping it simple and fairly dumbed down. The appeal is the great quality of the pictures (on an iPad w. Retina display), and the introduction to all sorts of cool gadgetry. I would give additional stars for more technically detailed articles, more electronic gadgetry and more cool survival gear including jeeps and trucks.

2 stars???. 2 stars, really? I guess content doesn't matter if it doesn't fit on an iPhone or whatever. Anyway, Recoil is what all firearm magazines and anything else that has to do with the industry should aspire to be like. The new editor saved Recoil, perfect all around, don't change a thing, .
