Impressed BUT Two Things. I really love writing with this app. It makes things so much easier organization-wise. I also love the different settings/fonts/etc in the app to organize further. HOWEVER I’m somewhat disappointed with two things. One (which is more of a minor issue) is that when I try to bolden or italicize a word little stars appear on each side of the word and you cannot delete them. (**) The second thing is that I was only able to have 9 different projects before I have to start paying $50 a year or $5 per month (which is even more expensive than to pay the year amount.) Other than those two things, the app’s worked really well for my writing. One more thing, I’d really love to have a night setting if that would ever be possible. :)

Great mobile word processor!. I’ve used Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and other mobile word processors. This is the only app I’ve been able to stick with for more than a few days (it’s been a few months). It’s simple; which I like. If you want bells and whistles, you might have to look elsewhere. But I find that’s what makes this processor far better than the others. You simply jump into a document and start writing. There’s very little to distract yourself with. You can write and save multiple documents—they are well organized on your dashboard. It has a dark-mode, which is key for me. The idea generator (which uses AI to either create a writing prompt or auto-complete a section of your own writing) is pretty good. It definitely keeps you writing if you feel stuck; even though you will most likely end up revising the suggestion it gives you. It does what it sets out to do. I personally feel this is the best word processor for writers like me—easily distracted procrastinators, who struggle to sit down and focus. You will find it much easier to “face the blank page” while using this app.

Fantastic, mostly. This app has been great to write on overall! I like the functions and the formatting, and it has been extremely helpful and productive. The membership tiers and cost aren’t required, but are reasonable for what it is, unlike many other apps. That being said, I have one problem and one suggestion. The problem is I cannot log into my account from any other device? It never sends me any sort of email, no matter how many times I try to. I would really like to be able to write both on my laptop and mobile devices. As a suggestion, some sort of card feature or better organizational system would be nice, but it’s not required. Werdsmith beats out scrivener for me because of how welcoming and warm it is, but a few of Scrivener’s functions (like index cards) would be really helpful. Until them, I’m relegated to making physical ones again. I’d give it overall 5 stars if not for the log in issue, and would probably purchase a membership on the future. Thank you for your time!

Amazing, highly recommended.. Hello Werdsmith team, I would like to start this off to say, how this app has encouraged my love of writing into a passion. I am very glad I downloaded this app when I had the chance. Even though, I’ve had Werdsmith for less than a year, I still adore it. I used to not even know how to properly use a comma, semi colon, nor have a A in my English class. My favorite part of the whole set up would have to be, how you distinguish ideas and projects into separate categories. Love it! It’s to die for, therefore I am that type of person. 😂 Anyways, even though I did give you guys a five-star rating, I hope you wouldn’t mind if I made a suggestion. I know a heap load of apps have this nowadays, and was wondering if you could add an (a free) nighttime theme. That would help out a lot. I normally write later in afternoon when I have the chance and it’s almost blinding to look at a full out white screen. Now, I know you have different themes, but I don’t want to spend that type of money. I simply have the free version. I hope you guys take my commentary to consideration. Thank you, have a good day and or night. -Summer Werdsmith

Scared to update. I’ve been using this app since 2016 and use it to write every single day. I would be absolutely devastated if anything happened to everything I’ve written in that time. Since I first downloaded it, there haven’t been many changes to the layout or anything major. I’m sure the new changes are for the better but I’m just really nervous about how they may change all the ideas I’ve written so far. I love this app and rely on it so much you have no idea. I’d just like to know if there’s any major changes to how ideas are organized that I should worry about before I update the app. Thank you for your time. Truly love this app, would just hate to see it change completely after using it for so long… ^ also will there still be a passcode? That’s a very important feature for me… ^ sorry, my last review I think you responded to was from a while back… Thanks for your responses! I feel a lot better about updating now knowing that it’s nothing too major. Although I will miss the custom passcode, that’s understandable. Maybe it could make a comeback in a future update lol. Thank you for your time and patience, sorry to be a bother lol. Really love this app <3

Why is the cursor stuck at the bottom!. I was really enjoying this app as I was browsing around it and starting to do some writing, until my neck got cramped from looking at the bottom of the screen, where the cursor remains. I don’t understand why a simple feature isn’t standard on writing apps. It’s an issue with Word, which is why I’m hunting for something else. I didn’t much like Ulysses, but this app is nice. It just needs a typewriter mode, or whatever it’s called. The cursor needs to be at the top 1/3 of the screen, or make an option for adjustment. No one wants to look down. It’s terrible ergonomics, especially when you’re using an iPad, because if you’re on a couch or something, you’re already looking down, which puts stress on the neck. Please add in this feature, and you’ll have a long time subscriber.

Great app!. I’ve been a user since 2012 and I love it! It’s simple and easy to use and I love that I can edit across all my devices. I also love the portfolio feature; I can share my work with my editor or my friends without having to send them an entire document. One thing that does bother me though, is that the app no longer works on Apple Watch. I can’t even download it. It’s very disappointing! I used to use speech to text to get down rough ideas with my watch, and now I can’t do that anymore. Can we get an update restoring Apple Watch functionality? Please? Despite the Apple Watch troubles, this is my favorite app to write with and I highly recommend it.

i love it except for one small thing... so, im someone who loves writing and stuff and this app makes it so easy. i recently started using the ghostwriter ai thing that will help you finish sentences and write the next one in case your stuck which, if youre someone like me who is terrible with words, it comes in HANDY. except, the ai is so sensitive, like im trying to write something that is just cuddles and adorableness and it censors its response. now, i understand that werdsmith cant really help this but it would be helpful if they gave people advice on what could trigger the ai to censor itself. also, it uses up a prompt when it does censor itself or doesnt work. this is so annoying to me, because it doesnt give any prompt or anything yet it still uses up one. other than that, this app is really good!

It is amazing but…. The AI is amazing and everything is so simple from everything to nothing we all make great books with this app and I feel as if we all could share our books with each other this app would be the best thing since books were invented we all need reviews on how our story is formatted and the story line what we need to work on more and we all need to share our favorite stories that we have made and everyone can relate to the story I think that would be the only thing this app needs everything else is chefs kiss and if we could make covers for our stories that would be great but not needed as much as us all sharing with each other if a famous author has a good story and wants to share to see what other writer would love that would be splendid and not even the people that do that for a job just people the public but everything else is the best thing ever and the AI looks at what you are writing and actually catches on giving me ideas if I’m stuck. And also I want to leave this review on a good note so thank you for everything you have done for us and our community this is a calming experience that nobody should miss.

Literally the best writing app I’ve ever tried. Okay, okay, okay. So, I’ve tried writing before. Google Docs, Microsoft Word, the usual. But I literally could not enjoy them to their fullest, and I always felt demotivated after a chapter or two of a single book. So when I left on a vacation and couldn’t use Google Docs (which I used the most at the time for random stuff), I downloaded this app, Werdsmith. Absolutely no regrets. This app has so many features, you can separate your projects from your ideas, you get AI generated prompts (literal lifesavers 😩), and you have an ID and Writing Ritual. So yeah, 5 out of 5 stars, and 10 out of 10 stars. Amazing app!!

Love it, but.... Hey! I write as a hobby, and I love this app. Being able to organize things into projects and ideas and the formatting for things like sections, hidden text, and quotes is so unique and useful. However, I couldn’t give it five stars is because it crashes on me ALL the time. I don’t know if this is something that’s happening to just me, but I get pretty frequent crashes. Sometimes I’ll crash after a few minutes, and other times it’ll go for hours. I love this app too much for it to bother me to the point where I can’t use it, but it’s really inconvenient. Another small thing that bothers me every once in a while is when I press ‘select all’, it highlights all of the text in that document. I had one time where I accidentally deleted an entire project, so thank you developers for the history and undo functions. Thank you, Werdsmith, for an amazing app, and I hope this review is helpful!

I Like The App, But.... Okay, Let me start off my saying, I do like the app! I do! It is great as a whole and really useful! I like how you can add a word-goal and it gives a little ‘notification thingy’ when you have hit that goal! But— My only real issue I have ever had with this app was that it deleted my writing. Okay, So, I closed the app about three hours ago so I could go do something else for a bit. I had quite a bit done and I was happy with it! Just moments ago, I decided to go back and write. When upon entering the app, everything seemed fine. When entering my writing, I saw a *blank page*. My 5,000 (ish) words written earlier that day were all gone. And that’s really discouraging. Have all that effort put to waste. I’m not sure but I don’t think it’s an issue on my phone. I have read other reviews and saw that others were having this issue as well. To be honest, I would think this is the main issue that needs to be taken care of— Because, Whats a writing app without being able to write? (And keep your writing)(Thats actually why I’m giving it 3 stars. 5,000 words down the drain. ;-; ) I have only had this issue once, but, other than that, I enjoy the app.

Awesome Planner!. Im 13 years old turning 14 very soon. I aspire to be a writer/illustrator. Sometimes I have ideas and I dont know what to do with them. I either draw an original character with a bio or just make a random plot filled with holes. WeirdSmith has really helped me just jot them down and edit and publish where no one really sees. I sometimes post my stories on websites for criticism. I have yet to publish one but im pretty sure it will be succesful! WeirdSmith has really helped me just write plots and chapters for potential stories i post on websites. My original stories dont get much love but people read them. I’ve been thinking of making a fanfic for someone to notice me putting myself out there. Do some originals and some fanfics at times. I feel like writing a fanic will help boost me up. But anyway. Im going to stop ranting and just recommend this to anyone who has awesome ideas and wants to create stories and inspire people! Thank You WeirdSmith ❤️

If you need organization, this is the app for you!. OH MY GOD, I LOVE THIS APP!! I don’t know what it is, but the ‘novel’ format just makes it so easy to write. I used to use Google Docs (I still do sometimes, no shade to them) and it was always such a hassle to set up the format I wanted for a poem, screenplay, etc. I would end up taking around 10-15 minutes setting up the format to write, and by then, I would’ve been totally unmotivated to write. Not only that, but I am a person who *must* compartmentalize everything I own. This is truly a lifesaver. I am a creative writer (I’m young, it’s not my profession (but I wish it was)). It make me so much less stressed to write. Additionally, I love the clean, simple design. It’s not ‘clunky’ and you’re not bombarded with several thousand buttons and complex features like other apps. I haven’t subscribed yet, but at this rate, I will soon!

Gone!. I’ve had this app for a couple years now actually, and I actually quite enjoy it except for one major flaw. As part of my editing process, I like to highlight text, and have Siri read it to me...having the words spoken out loud helps me tremendously in finding errors or re-thinking the structure of my sentences. BUT...press one wrong button...and everything is deleted; and I can’t get it back. This has happened to me several times in the drafting process, and just as I feel I’m getting a lot of great information typed down, I touch a wrong button...and all of my hard work and creative ideas are just...gone. It would be great to have a “back” feature or something, so if someone makes a mistake, or decide to change direction in their story OR, something gets erased by accident, they can retrieve all their work instead of having to start over again from the beginning.

Good app, just a personal preference. The app is good sure, the concept of the whole ghostwriting system better, and I haven’t had any bugs or issues with the app. The only reason it’s only 4 stars is because I think the ghostwriting prompts are a bit too expensive, but if you have the money spend it, it’s worth it, though you don’t really need it, and I also think the free prompt amount is a bit low, but I mainly just use the app to store and work on the stuff I’m writing, as paper gets ruined and lost easily, notes doesn’t have word count like Werdsmith, and wattpad can be unreliable to keep it saved as a draft as I’ve heard of them getting deleted and I don’t want that to happen. Overall good app, so 4 stars are deserved, but if I could give 4 and a half I definitely would, but that’s not how the feedback system works unfortunately.

Chapter 3, going on chapter 4!. Okay, this app is amazing! I originally had started writing in a notebook but since the first sentence I wrote, I changed my story entirely and I’m glad I did, I love my story now! Everyday, I look forward to writing my book and I’m always letting ideas spill out. I would recommend this app to people who are interested in writing stories or books for sure! One bug I’ve been experiencing is that I’ve used all my prompts even though it’s been my first time opening the app that day. This has been going on since the start of the year. It’s really annoying because I’ve just ended chapter 2 and I’m just sitting here blank minded on how to start chapter 3. In chapter 2, a small fight happened between 2 characters and at the end they all sat in silence. I’m really stuck on how to start it and I keep waiting every day until it lets me use the prompts for that day. But it never has since the start of the year, it’s just been saying “You’ve used up all your prompts” every time I’m on the app for the first time that day. I have a suggestion I thought of while writing this and it’s to let other people see your writing so far and see others writing and give feedback like what they could improve, some ideas, etc. Make sure that we can also reduce the negativity as much as possible since that would make us less motivated. But just a suggestion. :) Thank you for reading this (if you did) and have a splendid day/noon/afternoon/evening!

Really frustrating. I really like using this app I found it recently and decided to give it a try I started off 30 ghost write prompts the same day I downloaded the app I didn’t write anything I just downloaded and looked around when I came back 2-3 days later it said all the prompts where gone before I even wrote anything so then I actually started writing so I tried to get the free trial and some additional Prompts however 2-3 days after I logged back on and all 160 of my ghostwriter prompts where gone and I never even got to use any of them and I tried sending an email but never got a response from anyone so I just give up at this point I like the app overall but it makes you pay to use every feature and the price for a subscription is extremely high and they offer the free trial but most likely you’ll still lose your prompts and never get to use anything like what happened to me.

Love this!. Writing is a passion of mine. As Lord Byron said, “If I don’t write to empty my mind, I go mad.” A quote this app actually gave me that fits me to a capital T! I used other apps to write before but I love the features this one has. I do wish it wasn’t a monthly subscription to have the beautiful features but I love it so much I’m willing to pay it. The dark theme is my favorite. It’s easier on my eyes when I’m up at 3 am because an idea won’t leave me alone. Though, I would like to be able to touch an idea and edit it without it moving to the top of my list. I like my ideas/stories in a certain order. Possibly add a feature to organize it in a list? Or the ability to make folders and group ideas? Either way, I have other apps but I use this one the most. Definitely worth it, if you’re an avid writer or aspiring author!

Great App Thats Not Built for Me. Werdsmith is a fantastic writing app with tons of robust features...if you can get around the subscription fee. The main thing I want to use the app for - Novel Mode - has a timer if you don't pay monthly. I certainly understand a company needing to make money, but I feel like I would get much more value out of a one-time purchase option (like Scrivener offers) and having the AI features, for example, be the paid subscription feature. The app itself is fantastic and I highly recommend it for anyone comfortable with that business model - it will definitely enhance your writing and encourage you to write more. For me though, subscription fatigue is setting in, so to paraphrase the great philosopher: "it's a no from me, dawg".

Amazing for writing!. I got Werdsmith a few weeks ago, and so far, its the best writing app I've seen! I used to just write on Notes, but I wanted an actual app because the story Im making is huge. But there is one suggestion I have. Can you guys please make a way to draw images for your stories? For the ones who dont want to draw, there can just be an option where you can draw and place the drawing wherever you want so it won't just be on the bottom of the entire story! Also, I dont know if its just for premium or not and thats why it isn't there for me, but can you guys also make a way to see other people's projects that they export on Werdsmith without sending a link? That would be nice. Other than that, amazing app, and I really suggest it to other aspiring writers! I really like the ways you can make texts bold, italic, or just for the author to see, too! -ṃıṅԀ_ȏғ_ċȏṡṃıċ

Great App for beginners - Download and Use!!!!. I’ve always had ideas for stories and books but didn’t have a real platform before Werdsmith. I tried other apps like Scrivener and Scrivo Pro and hated them. They seemed to have more options but in the end they weren’t as user friendly as Werdsmith. I haven’t had any sync issues and sending links to friends is easy. I like that I can view how many times my story has been read. You can also set a “goal” to keep yourself motived along with word count. I use my iPad for all of my writing AND there is a tool bar at the bottom that prompts me to add a new chapters. You can also use their suggested format but you don’t have to. All in all I’m in LOVE with this app and upgraded to the paid version. I did so after I hit my maximum on the free version. The only complaint is the ability to “edit”. I know I’ve had some errors with spacing, verb tense, run on sentences, wording, and punctuation. I’ve had to copy and paste into other software but it gets annoying when you try to “replace” the entire “chapter” back into Werdsmith. The format gets cockeyed and you’ve got to go back and redo spacing between paragraphs.

doesn’t feel right.. don’t get me wrong, i love this app! it gives you the bare minimum of what you need to write and even additional features that weren’t asked for but secretly needed. but i feel as if they should at least give you the option to change the font to “Novel” without having to buy the ‘premium’ subscription, there was no warning in the preview that i’d be stuck with using a super smooth Wattpad-like font (which is why i don’t use Wattpad). this may sound picky but i know you seek to inspire writers, and for me i can’t exactly read or write unless i’m in a specific environment and it just hurts when i have no other choice unless i pay 5 dollars every month (Which is for someone who can’t trust subscriptions anymore and is too young to receive any sort of income to pay every month). if devs could at least give up having to buy premium for at least the novel font so when i write i feel like i’m writing a book that would be really nice 🤗

Quite the App for an author. The app is great it has a very nice way of letting me store my stories and ideas, it’s neat and dandy and I didn’t have any problems with loosing any progress. However, whenever the app lets me select a project it seems to exit out of the whole app when I choose to cancel the project type. I think it’s a small bug that doesn’t really bother me. The bigger problem that I have is with the ghostwriter. It’s understandable for an app to be able to have breaks for a month(even though it seems like a lot of wait to help cure writers block) but to me it seems a bit unfair that the prompts get used up even when I select the choice for another prompt. It’s simply annoying when I end up using up all the prompts because they didn’t fit the narrative of the story. Other than that the app is very easy to use and thankfully doesn’t shove ads in your face.

Pretty solid, but could do with a little feature adjustments.. I enjoy using this app, and have been using it to draft stories with the addition of the help of the ghostwriter feature. I like how it’s concise in design to keep distractions to a minimum. However, the one thing I dislike the most about the app is sometimes the ghostwriter feature won’t give you a prompt, but will still use one of your allotted prompts for the month. If it’s not going to give a prompt, it shouldn’t be punishing the user for an error on its part. Otherwise, pretty solid app - I especially like that I can export my drafts and such to my co-writers for editing feedback.

Great for writing, with a few kinks. This app is great for writing! The UI is clean and simple, and none of the tools are difficult to use. I love the themes, since I write on my phone a lot so the colour change is helpful in dim lighting. I have been experiencing issues with the app on both my iPad and my iPhone, where the app auto-quits a few seconds after I open it. The problem won’t go away until I restart my device, and only affects this app. Other than that, I haven’t encountered any major issues with the app. It would be very helpful to be able to export my work as a PDF or Word doc from the iOS apps, because my current method of exporting is just copying out the text in Preview mode on my laptop. Also, I would love to see word count by chapter, but that’s a secondary concern. Overall, a great writing app with a few issues that will pose a problem as I continue using the app.

I use it all the time now!. I’ve gone through quite a few different writing apps, and this is by far my favorite one. Something about it makes it very easy and calming to write; it’s very no-nonsense and yet has an attractive interface, which makes it easier to buckle down and just focus on writing. Since I’ve started using the app, my productivity has skyrocketed. I’m writing much more than I have in years, and I’m having a blast. I ended up getting the subscription after seeing how much the app has benefitted me. I do think the free version should be able to have more documents/projects, though. The free version caps at a measly six documents, which is very low. Even ten would go a long way in making it a bit more useful for those who can’t afford to pay. Of course, I know you guys do need money, so maybe there’s no helping it, but I just wanted to put that out there. Still, fantastic app and I’m very happy I found it. Thank you for making this!

preferred writing app. Forget word, google docs, or whatever other writing processor. I prefer this app to anything. It’s the love of my life and I don’t care what anyone says. The fact that I can go between the mobile version on my iPhone to the app on my MacBook is life changing. It’s simple and easy to use, free of clutter, and doesn’t annoy me with frequent prompts asking if I want to pay more. I love the fact that I can share what I’m working on with betas, alphas, or editors with just a simple link. I would love a feature that makes it easier to import to prowritingaid or google docs, or even a feature that allows for comments/suggestions for editing purposes BUT the app as is is amazing still.

Love this. I’ve had the app for about a week and a half now, and I love it. When you first download it, notifications pop up about a premium with different settings and themes, but you don’t need them to use the app. It’s easy to use and is very helpful. I definitely recommend it! I’ve written a lot more since I downloaded this app. You can set a reminder on it as well to remind yourself to write. It’s set up well organized and it’s very easy to access documents, it saves automatically, there are two sections (ideas and projects) and is an overall clean app. I really enjoy using this and you should totally download it if you want a simple, easy to use writing app!

A Keeper. Works so well on my iPhone, I decided the iPad version will certainly come in very handy. The fact alone that allows to transfer all efforts to an email account, is a great option for most emails are durable and reliable. I started with a 10,000 word challenge, and kind of appreciated the fact that it keeps tabs on any accomplishment toward the announced goal. Will not complain about being a free app, because it’s not in my nature to bite the hand that feeds me, on the contrary: I am ever so thankful. For those who love the written word, and hold some degree of aspirations to one day be able to publish some kind of creative writing, this app definitely encourages and assists that kind of behavior. For that alone, 5 Stars,

Overall, a good writing app.. I personally really like this app, it’s especially cool that I can put a password on the app. It can get a bit annoying at times, but it’s fine. There are two things that I think could be changed or added. Also, I apologize for any poor wording in the review. 1.) The way the bold, italics, hidden thing works. It leaves * on the sides of the word and when I copy and pastes my work the * will still be there but the bold or italic text goes back to normal. It’s a bit annoying. 2.) The app that I am copy and pasting my work to publish, has this feature where you can use an auto-voice reader, but I can only use if after publishing my work. That’s a problem with that app, but it’d be really helpful if this app had a feature like that for your projects. Personally, it makes it easier for me to find my mistakes. Although, if anyone else feels the same way you can download and text-to-speech app.

No Folders. I like the ability to choose what you are writing from the options menu hope they add song writing at some point. That said the big drawback of this app is it’s user interface with projects on one side and ideas on the other it gets cluttered fast. You would have to work on one project at a time with this app so if you’re looking for an app to write and store all your projects this likely isn’t going to be the one for you. Despite its great formatting options it lacks a comprehensive foldering system and it’s the downfall of this app. If you’re working on 5 different novels and have to go through and open all the chapter 3 files just so you could find the one you’re working on it gets very inconvenient very fast! Also deleting things from the projects side of the app can be tricky and take several tries to get the delete button to show.

Amazing!. I’d like to start off with saying that if you’re looking for an app to just free write your thoughts, and/or possibly make up a story this is definitely the app for you! The reason I had downloaded this app is because I wanted to publish my own personal stories on Wattpad just for myself to see. However I recently realized that the app doesn’t provide that option. I started making my way through the app store and I’m so glad and amazed to have come across this app. Even though not all fonts are free and extremely limited to you. It doesn’t really matter to be because I’ve been able to create and customize so many cool and different stories with this app! I also really enjoy the different formatting that’s included as it’s like your own personal journal! I’d really like to thank the developers for taking their time to make this. Please continue to update it and add new things to it as I already love it as is!! Xx

I love this app. If you want a free writing app this app is perfect. You don’t have to pay to use almost all of the apps features. You can get some extra things if you choose to support the creators but you don’t have to. You have to pay to do more than a certain amount of projects but I normally store most of my short works somewhere else and work on my big projects on the app because it is better for novel writing. It is also good for poems but it doesn’t have a short story option. I do wish they added one or are going to add one in the future. But in my opinion there are no problems with the app and it isn’t a pay to use type of app which I think is nice. If you can it is nice to support apps like this but if you can’t pay you can use it for free which I appreciate. Also it says it values privacy which I love. So in my opinion if you are looking for a free app try this and see if it fits your writing needs.

Vastly improved!. I've always liked this app over other writing apps. It looked better, flowed better, and was most friendly to those who just wanted to write simply. However, the bugs were completely maddening, to the point where I would actually write my story on Notes in chapters, and paste it to Werdsmith to save it as one novel. I love that I can now edit in Werdsmith without it freezing up on me, as well as exit the app to do some research on the side and go right back into my story and edit without having to find my place again. I wasn't going to rate this app before, I'd been using it for a year and wanted to give the devs a chance to improve it. Now I am happily writing this five star review! Thank you for listening to us free users!

A few suggestions…. This app is wonderful and makes me want to write more. The quotes are inspiring and the reminders remind me to write, which gets my creative side going. However, there are little things I suggest. First of all the “Ghostwriter” tool is absolutely incredible, and I am stunned by how the app almost completely matches what I am writing about. I get writers block several times, and this helps take it away. However, I would like there to be able to have more than 30 usages. Sometimes I will accidentally press the button, which will take away one of my usages. I understand if you don’t want to do that, but I strongly suggest to have at least 45-50. I would also love for this to be available on MAC! Thanks for this wonderful app that makes me a better writer!

Good but…. This app is very useful. You can do it wireless! It is easy to learn, and fun! It also keeps track of your word count and more! It helps you with misspelled words and even grammar mistakes! One cool feature is it gives you sentences that could fit into your book perfectly! It has a place for ideas and books, but one bad thing. It’s annoying because a lot of stuff you have to pay for! First, you only get so much AI sentences until you can’t use them without paying money. Also if you want to turn it on novel mode, you must pay. You must pay for other cool features too! I get that they need this to get more money, but it is annoying. This is a great app, definitely recommend for other authors, but I thought they knew better than this.

Love the app has a really annoying bug though.. When I’m writing on the app and the page gets really long I get this bug. Once I open the project or idea page I want to work on there is a button that lets me scroll all the way to the bottom of the page, but when I click the button it only send me about 3/4s of the way to the bottom, than I have to scroll the rest of the way. It isn’t to terrible it but does get annoying though when I have to switch between my ideas page and project page multiple times and I have to scroll down because the button only takes me halfway or 3/4 of the way down. Hopefully this bug is fixed in a future update.

10/10 would write steddie fics with this again. This is the best writing app I’ve tried, and I’ve probably tried a dozen easily. As of now I’ve only used the free version but plan to subscribe to the paid soon because I want more space but even the free version is great! I love that it doesn’t just have a word counter but also a word goal, it definitely keeps me motivated. The whole thing is easy to use, but still has enough helpful features. I can’t say there’s anything missing. Full disclaimer, I only use this to write fanfiction so maybe I have a different opinion than people who are writing original novels, but I still recommend giving this app a try!

Best Writing Tool I’ve Ever Used, but I have some suggestions. I started getting back into writing this year, so I went for the easiest and quickest writing medium at the time: Apple Notes. Not saying there’s anything wrong with it,but it didn’t give me half as much use as this has. Not only is the customization that comes along with it, you get Ghostwriter, which has basically stopped my writers block. Now,I do think some things would be cool: 1: If you ever decided to do i major update,I would think a good place to start is a way for you to view others material. Like a switch that makes your thing public or private. People could use a menu to scroll through stories and screenplays and read what they like. 2: Smaller Update Wise, I think a way to undo deleted files. Like let’s say I accidentally deleted the book I’ve been writing, something would pop up and as me if I want to undo it. Or you could add a menu to view recently deleted stuff and undo it. Amazing App,Changed how I write, 10/10.

A great app for any aspiring author!😘. As someone who loves writing stories, this app has helped a lot with editing manuscripts and the AI is perfect and on-point. If you are struggling with defeating writer’s block, I strongly recommend this app. However, I don’t think this is the app to publish books; this is more of an app to edit and cure writer’s block. The AI is great, but I am about to say something very controversial. I think it is actually good that the app requires you to pay after using up thirty prompts, because then the AI doesn’t completely take over your entire writing style, because it is good not to bend your fictional stories to accommodate brilliant words. I am a young author who loves writing dystopian and horror stories; I am interested a lot in that genre. I really don’t have any negativity about this app. It’s resourceful, innovative, creative, helpful, fun, and positive. I love this app, and, if you are someone who loves to write but dislikes writer’s block, you will too! I one hundred percent recommend!

Amazing!. This app is super-helpful. And it doesn't need wifi to write, like Google Drive and other apps, and saves automatically. I can access my stories and write anywhere, anytime. It's a great app, with helpful word goal settings. I enjoy fanfiction, and unlike Google Drive, it automatically corrects mistakes and tells me about the errors. It's so much easier to write coherent stories without the typos that sometimes slip through. I love it. Update (2019): Paid 99 cents as a broke teen to get rid of the space limit and I’m still using it as a young adult. Love the app. When I finally get my life together, I’ll probably purchase a subscription. App is still 12/10 for me. :)

Great, but sad theres no more passcode. I really enjoy this app for writing and journaling alike. The former passcode feature was especially a +1 from an app I already enjoyed because I share my iPad with another person and I’m an extremely private person when it comes to my writing. However, I took a break from writing for a while and when I returned, you can imagine my absolute horror when I opened the app and it no longer required a passcode!! I really hope you guys consider adding it back for those like me who share their device with other people. I had to backup all my writing and save it elsewhere on a less desired app because I no longer feel comfortable writing digitally on a shared device with no passcode protection. Though, I’m not very savvy with Apple technology, so maybe there is a workaround to not having this app be snooped through by others because I really want to keep using this one.

Needs a copy/paste feature that counts towards words written. Most of this app is wonderful. The one feature that would make this 5 stars would be if you could copy/paste into this app and have it count for words you’ve written that day. I end up writing snippets of writing across multiple platforms (notes app, google docs, tumblr, etc), and it would be nice to be able to write something on a different app and then paste it into Werdsmith and have it actually count to the words you’ve written that day, since they were written that day, just on a different platform. Especially if it’s several hundreds of words long, having to retype it all is time consuming just to hit that ‘word count’ goal.

Awesome app, but have a suggestion. I love the app so much that I bought the membership. It’s a lot of fun to use and it makes my writing so much easier to organize, better focus, and I love how minimal it is. One of my favorite things about the app above many others is that you can use without WiFi, the choice to change the document to writing a novel formatting which looks nice when you use it-this also never crashes while I’m in the middle of writing anything!! Another feature that I’ve always enjoyed seeing is the quotes when starting a new document, or deleting one. Is there any way there could be more inspirational quotes from different authors about writing or even lines from books? The quotes tend to repeat sometimes and it would be nice to see more variety! Especially when you delete one. That would be a great addition to see in an upcoming update!

Great app. Something I’d like to point out tho.. This is a great writing app compared to the others ones I’ve seen. I love how organized you can be. The stats things was also an amazing idea, it lets me know about my story. But there is something I’d like to point out. The thing is about the prompts, there a great idea but there are some changes you should make to it. First, I’m really annoyed with the fact that sometimes, the prompts don’t work and you loose the prompt even though it hasn’t written the sentence for you. It’s wasting my prompts and I hate it a lot! You should really try to fix this, it’s getting on my nerves. This might just be me but, other times, I unintentionally click on the prompts and they get used. I think that for this, you should put a pop-up saying “Do you want to use a prompt” or something similar to it. Thanks for reading!

I have now bought this app twice and they still want more money. EDIT I am going to leave what I originally wrote just so people can see why you responded but I would like to follow it up. The restore purchases thing did work. The app is now working correctly with all of my features restored. Sorry for the knee jerk reaction. I love the app and would highly recommend it. Also thank you for the speedy reply. I really do love your app and use it for everything from list making to novel writing and everything in between. I thought Wordsmith was a fantastic app. I even bought and paid for it. Originally I paid the 2.99 to own the app and all its features. Awhile later when things changed I paid 4.99 to own the app and all its features. Today when I went to use the app I discovered I have had a limit set on how many items I can save and that if I want to use all the features of the app that I have now paid for twice that I will need to pay a monthly subscription. I am very disappointed and will be looking for a new writing app

Favorite writing app!. I've had this app for about two years now and absolutely love it. Being able to put down ideas easily without having to bring out the notebook and pen is great. I think I will decide to pay the $4.99 a month because it's worth it, Microsoft word is now making you pay for your work and that is just not fair to me personally and it's cheaper for this route. Love the app and will sure keep using it for more years to come! Update: I still stand by my review and love this app so much! The only criticism I would give is the error of writing on a laptop and app, it doesn’t update as quickly as I’d like. I wish somehow it would update and save every word written as I go on laptop and app together. But other then that, it’s the best app for writing out there.

AMAZING. 10/10 RECOMMEND FOR WRITERS. Ok so even if your not a serious writer and want to write fan fictions, Ghost stories, etc. etc. I HIGHLY recommend this app. 1 it’s free. There is a plus version that gives you more options, but I use the free version and it works wonderfully! Plus if you have friends that want to see all the stories that you make like fan fics or ghost stories, if you put them on a portfolio (which Werdsmith graciously provides) just give them the website that they give you and they can see your works! You of course get to choose what you put on the portfolio. Yes I’m aware this sounds like an add but I just really like it! If your looking for a good writing app I recommend this one.

Incredible App. I have been using Werdsmith for about a year and it is honestly the best free writing app I’ve come across. The Ai writing prompts get me through writers block. You only get 30 prompts for a certain time frame but if you write almost every day premium is the way to go. I don’t have premium but I can definitely see the benefits of it if you write different types of literature. Premium unlocks a few different templates for writing different types of things, one example being a poem. This is definitely worth at least trying and getting a feel for the app because I can promise you it won’t be a disappointment!

Great but keeps crashing. This is a great app, I’m using it everyday, the only problem is one of my stories are at 30,860 words, and every time i get into it to right, it crashes, it didnt happen untill i updated it a few days ago TJames

Awesome!! But could be better.... I love this app! Im writing a 10,000 word story that my friends love reading. I just wish we could have pictures on it. If you added pictures I would give this app a 5 star rating! 🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟 so Pleeeeeease please please please allow for us to add pictures with our storys. It would make them more exciting and would add a but more color and life into our storys. Thanks 💕

Bad idea. We are sick paying monthly subscriptions for everything, just let me pay the app and that’s it

Good but not quite worth the money.. I really love the app but it’s not worth a subscription. I would definitely do a one-off payment but I don’t think there is really enough to offer to convince me to pay a subscription. I know you need to make money from it and I respect that but as a suggestion: I’m not entirely sure if you can get money from showing adds (if you don’t then ignore this) but perhaps after using up the the space for writing/ideas, you could watch a few adds and then get it. Or maybe a small payment (anywhere from 50c to $1.50 perhaps) for each new idea/story. You could also charge for the other formats (maybe $20 per one). I know that I would definitely pay for those and I think that would be a better payment option. But anyway I still really like the app.

A breakthrough app. Werdsmith helped me find my Segway into writing. The layout and design is easy to use and manoeuvre. It’s accessible and makes writing on-the-go easier. The flow between ideas and projects, is simple and easy to maintain track of. It allows you to compile all of your writing projects into one location, whether it’s a novel, screenplay or poem. Great app. It’s a change of pace. Love the app.

Love this app until it crashes. Oct 11 edit: Thank you to the devs for continued support with a second update to fix this. Hopefully it does the trick. Oct 1: Even with the recent update to fix the crashes, I’m still getting them quite often. I have been a monthly subscriber for several months now, so it’s disappointing. I’m writing this review after many subsequent crashes; it now won’t let me continue writing my sentence at all. This has happened two days in a row.

Features Missing. It is a very good app overall for typing and setting goals for your word narrative, but one thing I dislike with my deepest hatred is that when I try to make a new idea or story it tells me I HAVE to get a subscription, no matter what I do like exiting and going back, updating it. It makes no difference to when I try to make a new narrative/idea, other then that it’s a great app for narrators.

This is awsome!. I can right story’s and talk to people by typing on it and showing it to them so you don’t even need to talk.i use weird Smith every day and it is the best writing app I could ever use It is free and easy to use .if you have an s.a at school then you could use this and if you have a sertain amount of words you have to write weird Smith will tell you how much words you have done. THANKS WIERD SMITH!

(Mostly) functional. I’ve been using werdsmith for years and I love it. It’s great for tapping out spur of the moment ideas and working through short scenes. My only complaint is that the search bar does not work. I can add a new entry, pop a title in and it’ll show up when searched. Then three days later it will stop appearing in the results and I’ll have to manually find it. I’ve never been able to get the search bar to reliably work and scrolling through hundreds of results makes it difficult/impossible to navigate the app.

Pc version. First, I want to thank you and grateful how wonderful you have done so far with Werdsmith, the developments, features, they are all fascinating at first, convenience after, and pleasant to continue. I admire, and have fallen in love. It’s will be so much more pleasant if I am fine with keyboard on screen of my phone or iPad… I will always prefer my laptop for my writing expect the locations are included in the car or outdoor places. And the point is, I would love it, if dear developers can consider my wish for an Pc version of Werdsmith on web or application for Windows 10. I don’t have any knowledge about building an app, nor the skills required. But I know it might take a lot of blood, sweet, and tears lol. Summon all the details, I just want to express my thanks and gratefulness, and a suggestion. Thou i hope this review will come to your hands, developers. - thank you.

L O V E. T H I S. A P P <3. THE BEST writing app you will ever find, it’s free for most features, easy to use and easy to navigate! Definitely recommend!

HELP. First of all, I would rate 5 stars but I accidentally copied and pasted I think 200,000 words and my app won’t let me get back in and I’ve lost all my writing i’m very sad and understand it's my fault, not the app's but I think someone can help.

It’s pretty Gucci. I found it Gucci it is dope

Great App. Had used this app for a few years now and I am getting used to this new version. I would like to be able to make the font smaller and stop it from going to the top if my iPad flips the screen, even having a date for when a new project is created. Having the archive button removed is unfortunate as I have reached my limit and can’t create anything new without losing some of my other work.

More markdown options? <:. I love this app, tho some more text editing options would be rad. Also folders! And cover pages!!

Great App for sometime writers and serious writers.. I love this app, but I write novels and I haven’t found how to number the pages, so I’ve decided it’s not part of the program, but, it should be. I like all the other features and being able to export chapters to my reviewers is a great benefit. One thing I don’t like is that, because I write and work on each chapter separately, when I go in to edit or rework a chapter, on completion, it goes back to the top in the chapter list, so that maybe chapter 26 is on top, and the rest are higgily piggily, then I have to rearrange all the chapters in order again. It would be nice if the chapters could be linked somehow and stayed in numerical order. I like having the word count at the bottom of the chapter, that’s a good help. Over all, it’s a very workable app and I’m happy to recommend it to serious writers. Can you please see if you can address my concerns? Thank you. Mary Campagnolo

Love the app! But.... Werdsmith is a really good free writing app that is useful for writing stories and narratives. I love features such as word goals, showing how long it would take to read your work. I understand that to create a certain number of pieces of wrk, you have to pay money. Although, I understand that you need money, as this is your job, I think it should just be a one off payment instead of a subscription. I just feel like this app doesn’t offer enough for that. I hope you can understand. Thank you!

Harry Cheema. Beautiful app, user friendly, has all the features required, made the entire process lot more enjoyable. Thnx guys 😊

Great app for writers of all ages. Great app for writers of all ages...BUT it could use work if you could do seperate pages instead of one long text it would be so much better I’m writing a novel on this and it annoys me how it’s just one long text. On the positive side I love how it tells you how many words you’ve written, and you can set goals all in all I love the app if they could add a few things I would give five stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and add a words to pages section pls.

AWESOME!!. This is such an awesome app that allows me to write my stories whenever I want, with daily reminders and a Touch ID so that no one can read them without permission! It’s so easy with different fonts and I would recommend it to EVERYONE!!❤️

Love it. I-I’m in love. I don’t care what you say, I’m in love. Period.

Werdsmith is good. I think you did a wonderful job on Werdsmith and it is good, but can you remove writers block or at least have more writing prompts than just 30 when you first download the app it would make it way more convenient for me. Still, Werdsmith is a good app and I recommend it for lots of people, particularly the people who can’t be bothered just writing it and want to type it and need more ideas as well and it is very nice.

All a writer needs!. I'd been getting tired of using notes for a while, so I asked my friend what writing app she uses and she told me about werdsmith, mentioning all of the good features. I wasn't disappointed and I love everything about this app; the fact you can change fonts and themes, setting word goals, having a 'ritual' and being able to export it to stuff like tumblr or notes. I recommend this app to anyone who is looking for a good writing app because it is all you need!

Thanks Werdsmith!. This is a great tool for young writers, but it cost money to be a member. Please make it free.😜

It’s a keeper. Such a great app for those who always wanted to be a writer but never have the time, reminds you to write everyday(only if you want it to) and even if you only write a few words a day before you know it there's your story all saved and spellchecked.

Werdsmith Review.. Okay, I loved the app when I first got it; beautiful, a little tricky to start off with, but I got used to it. Bold, Italics, and Underline would be great! Now that I have the updated version, I hate it. It doesn't work. I tried with a premium subscription, it works even less! I've still got all the work I wrote BEFORE I got the update, but now, I can't write anything new. Explanation is required, and by hell does that bug need a fix. The app itself works really well, and it's good for all my writing… until it doesn't work. I'm actually annoyed, because I don't pay for an app just to see it look pretty. I pay for an app to USE it. If I can't use it, why bother. I'm sorry for the harshness, but I'm annoyed that it's not working. Bold, Italics, and Underlined would still be appreciated as well.

New font is Awful. I love your app but after the update, you changed the font. I really like the old font you used, it looks so perfectly fit with a writer. The worst thing is your new font do not have the full Vietnamese version, therefore, several letters look different from the rest :(

Great. Just easy to use not complicated

Really good.. I really enjoy using Werdsmith, although the ability to add photos to documents would be amazing and would fully complete the package.

Great app but.... It’s great and really easy to use without being too simplistic. Just one problem, it crashes when I tap on a documents stored in archive. Meaning I can’t access stuff I haven’t stored elsewhere.

Devistated. I thought this app was great until after spending many dedicated hours writing verses from old memories were totally deleted and it would appear the only way to recover them is to upgrade, paying $6 a week for a year please explain????

Simple and convenient. Considering that this is a free app, you couldn't ask for more. A clean interface, easy sorting for your ideas and a the word goal feature makes all of the difference. My only complaint with this app is the lack of precision inherent in a touchscreen keyboard, since I can't place the cursor in the middle of a word to fix a spelling error and must instead retype the whole word. And that isn't something anyone can change, so well done!

Good stuff. Love the app! Could really use a search function though. Could you guys add one, if it’s possible? I use the app for song writing and I keep losing ideas that I can remember a phrase from, but not the whole thing!

Lol. Lol

This used to be a great app…then you got greedy. This used to be a great app…then you got greedy and went to a (far too expensive) subscription based model. I don’t need all your so called writing prompts. No writer actually does. It’s just an excuse to money grab your existing customers. I went against my better judgment and updated the app now you’ve essentially locked me out of my work because you’ve made it so difficult to move my work to another app or program. Any potential new customers thinking about getting this app. Don’t do it. It’s far too expensive for what it’s providing. You’d be better off just using Notes and it’s free!

Hands down best writing app. Easy to use, you can just pick it up and go! Whether you write in short bursts or long spurts it's all good. A few suggestions however: Italics, Bold, Underline would be nice. I can also see potential usability for beta readers or editors if strike through and/or highlighter was added. Or even a comment system (though that's kinda complex) A way to add chapters to a story. A way to sort out stories besides whichever was edited most recently. Especially because sometimes people read through an old finished thing and happen to spot a small typo and BAM it's at the top of the list again. A way to add a story summary for stories uploaded to the website. A way to search the website for stories to read. Searching by keywords, story length, etc. add an option to exclude stories from the search results when publishing. A way to collaborate on a work by having a document that can be accessed and edited by two or more people. (Similar to google docs.)

Congratulations🥳. What a fabulous app i would highly suggest it to any writer. This app gives you space to start a studio and storage for ideas and project. I hope you enjoy and get the premium version!!!

Great for writing a novel. I love this app. Having a section for all my notes and different projects is so useful! This app has made my writing process much easier and more enjoyable. It would be great if we could add words to the ‘dictionary’ so names of places and people aren’t underlined in red.

Werdsmith. Absolutely fantastic , loved this app. Easy to use

This Site Cant Provide a Secure Connection.... This Site Cant Provide a Secure Connection... No browsers I’ve tried can connect to werdsmith... ”Secure SSL connection error” ?

I like this app but…. This app is good but I wan wounding if you could put photos on it or not and if so how do I do that or I can’t and why not?

I love it.. I’m very new to writing stories, and most of my ideas will become graphic novels but I love this app because it’s simple to use and is great to bring all of your ideas together. And keep your stories in one place, also being able to have my ideas with me wherever I go if I get inspiration to write.

Was......... Very impressed. Not so much now.. I have just updated, and I am so pleased with the new scroll to bottom button. Thank you so much for making it! Makes it a lot easier. So that awesome button is now updated but not in a way that helps. It disappears as soon as you use it and doesn’t go down to the bottom. I’m a bit annoyed. But I’ll live. Other then that its been great so far.

Great way to improve writing!. This app helps to write from the heart! You can print the stories you write out, save them to IBooks and more! I highly recommend this app to all writers out there looking to improve! This is the best way to write and have fun! I hope this helps you like it helped me!

Almost love it. I really love this app and it's so much better than using notes to write all my ideas and stories down, plus the new update looks ten times as good as the old version. However I'm having some issues with the word goals and I would also love to be able to have more 'rituals' at different points in the day, or some that only go off on a particular day. Also, little writing tips would be absolutely amazing and make me more likely to write. Otherwise it's a really good app as far as free writing apps go 😊😊

Easy Access?. I love werdsmith! It's like a more advanced version of Notes or Pages that depends more on format - but this arrises a few issues. For starters the access; to enter ittalics and bold when writing you have to changes pages in a few clicks where as if it was just a button labelled B or I *in ittalics* it would be a much swifter movement to continue the 'creative flow'. I know I said 'for starters to sound professional but yeah... Thats my only complaint. Over all, the app is great! I generally use it daily.

Werdsmith. It's a good app because you can change the brightness and write story's for never ending lengths

Amazing. I was told by a friend about this app and it is the best thing, especially if you love writing. It is alot like Microsoft Word but your writings can be done via your mobile which is very handy if you're having thoughts in your head that you want to capture and you're nowhere near the computer. Excellent work! Thank you.

Love the new update. Love love love the new update, each feature added really helps to streamline the writing process. Only reason I have awarded four stars instead of five is due to the feature of changing the font size being taken out, but otherwise Werdsmith is an amazing application that you should download immediately if you are even the slightest bit interested in writing!

PORTABLE NOTEBOOK!!!. Werdsmith helps me with my word corrections and lets my creativity increase when I use it! The app is like a portable notebook I can bring with me everywhere, I can even make a password so my friends can’t see them. I recommend to use this app for creative writers!

generally good, account wide sync could use some work. sometimes when trying to sync writing across devices, it doesn’t update to the latest version, but other than that an excellent app and my favourite for writing!

Not worth it. I used to like writing on this app, until I ran out of space. Unless you buy a membership, the app only lets you keep six projects. I would rather just write in the notes app for free, than pay monthly for more space here and just about the same experience. There are plenty of better writing apps out there. Don't waste your time with this one.

It’s okay. Yeah, I really like the app and actually it’s not that bad at all🙂

Uhm- what😀. It’s really good! despite the fact I HAVE TOO PAY to write????

Suggestion!. Hey there! I’m a newer writer, and I’ve found this app very helpful, especially the ghostwriter! I have just two suggestions. The first is that it doesn’t give many corrections, except for if you spell something wrong. If you’re able, please look into more grammar suggestions. If you can’t totally understandable! The second is just something that I think would be useful to a lot of people. You have the two subscriptions, that include ghostwriter, extra writing spaces, and novel, poem, and screen play writing forms. I understand that it can’t be free, as you do need to make some profit from this app, but not everyone can afford to buy it, and not everyone is going to use all three formats. For example, I’d only really use the novel format. So my idea is that you could sell separate packs, that would include one format, some extra ghostwriter, and a couple extra writing spaces. Of course, just a suggestion that I thought would be useful! Have a great day/night, and thank you for taking the time to read this.

I wrote my tugs script. Thanks! I love it here I made my own tugs reboot script coming November 27 2021

It’s the BEST. It’s nice because I can text on a car without having to worry about the phone or anything else but I don’t like that it doesn’t have lines on it because I’m so used to having them there BUT overall it’s amazing 10/10 recommend it

AWESOME. This is a awesome writing app!!! You should get it

$200 A YEAR UPFRONT?. I used to enjoy Werdsmith and would occasionally pay for it for a few months if I was in a good writing headspace. There is no universe in which I am going to drop $179.99 A YEAR all at once on this app. I could be talked into $14 a month when I need it but with no options for a monthly subscription? Absolutely not worth it.

The creator does not only care about money. No adds or the bought version shoved in your face just so you can buy it is great... A dream come drue! The reason I like this app is because you can actually do stuff in the app without me probably liking this because I'm a dumb kid who like to write. I've been looking in the reviews and a lot of people are complaining that you can only have 6 projects. To me a cheap person all you have to do is make multiple projects in one project itself, I mean don't waste space am I right?

Good app, payments aside.. Love the app, downloaded free then purchased it because I finally found something I like. Not a fan of the subscription though. I already paid money into it. Don’t really want to continue paying. So I just format what I need and delete them after. Otherwise a good app.

Great App.. Good App, and it's very easy to use. I haven't had any of the problems that others have mentioned, and it's great to use on the go. I keep so many ideas on my Werdsmith account. It's one of the best writing apps I've ever used.

👌. Omg I love this app so much 😍 Now when my parents ask what I’m doing I can respond with something that doesn’t make them glare at me 🤣

Werdsmith brought everything together. I’m very thankful for Werdsmith‼️ The format for the writer is very comfortable and conducive to the needs of the writer. I like that you can change the type style and colour, I also like that you can choose the form of writing for example: If I’m writing a poem I choose the poem layout, If I’m writing a screenplay I choose the screenplay layout, etc. It inspires writing, makes it simple for the author of a creative work to get to the work of writing. It has provided for me a sophisticated platform that allows for complete creativity without worrying about the technical side of presentation and I love the name. Thank you to the creators of Werdsmith.

Easy to use and free. Like word but simply better. Need I say more?

Almost perfect. Pretty good! The writing is nice, style is nice, all good. Some feedback: It has a strange, maybe intended behaviour of showing the keyboard when on the list of projects and it requires the user tapping on Accept when there’s nothing to accept or no reason for the keyboard to be there.

Good App. I don’t often use this app because this device already came with a stock writing application. Nevertheless, I like this app and do enjoy using it when writing presentations. I also like its simplicity—nothing too fiddly and complicated—so it’s more than great of a writing app. Thank you. Cheers.

An unreliable middleman.. So apparently when you update this app, it deletes all your work..? Sketchy. I won’t be putting any more time into it, seeing as I’d have to transfer all my writing to a more reliable place anyway.

Pretty good. I think it’s pretty good🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿

Beautiful app.. I have recommended this app about 5 years ago and I still use it. I am the age of 14 almost turning 15 and I quite enjoy this app for when I am writing my chapters for books I have created. If you are thinking of starting a book, I highly suggest this app. Keeping doing you Werdsmith. - Rehemma A.

Amazing, but has a bug and a missing feature.. I LOVE THE APP! I am using it as a diary, and I love that I am the only one who can access it. I originally downloaded the app since it was in my recommendations for Apple watch apps. I was curious and gave it a try. I was disappointed at first that I was unable to read what I've written right on my watch. It would be awesome if that could be a feature. One more thing, every time I type something, it thinks I am writing a title. So every time I write something it makes the first letter a capital.

Mostly good. I have generally really enjoyed this app for writing fiction. The options for formatting have a lot to be desired though, and it’s less helpful for poetry.

I gave it four stars. Because I wish u could write then others could see your work and give feedback, I also love that their is a lock on the app and that u can write offline and it still saves your work! But i would prefer if it didn't look like a writing app so that if people go on my phone they don't go on it. But this is definitely my favourite app!! Also the app is free!! I only have the free app!

Pretty Good. I haven’t been using the app very long, but so far it’s done everything I expect it to, and everything I really need it to. The free version isn’t bad, and I haven’t encountered any bugs or glitches with saving or moving projects. I do like the method of bold/italics/notes-to-self it uses, and the app itself is clean and easy for me to navigate. The only thing I might find problematic is the membership prices, but I can understand why they’re there, and I currently don’t need the extra features, so sticking to the free version isn’t an issue.

I love this app!. Exactly what I was looking for. —I can change the fount, —I can change the background, — I can do all that cool stuff, Good work. Thanks for your time. Can you Just add one more thing please talk to type.

Used to be good. When I first downloaded this app I loved it but that was like 7 years ago. As more updates rolled out you started looking more and more content. The content that you used to have access to kept getting locked behind an ever growing subscription. I used to pay the subscription for random months but it’s just gotten ridiculous. I have definitely called out of love with this app

Great, but.... I honestly love this app. It has been a tremendous help when it comes to organizing my ideas and writing. The ONLY problem after the most recent update is how I am now unable to pick whether I want to make a new project. It just saves as an idea instead. The fact that my actual story isn’t classified as a ‘project’ and is under ideas instead bothers me; as it is an actual project NOT an idea. I would appreciate if this could be fixed as I have tried everything, searching through the entire app. The previous place where you could choose your new writing was going to be an idea or project- just ISN’T there... The new formatting option doesn’t have the little buttons that say: Idea|Project. I hope you are able to fix this, as I am now unable to write due to the un-organization. It seriously bothers me. I might have mild OCD when it comes to stuff like this. Thanks, a person who really wants to continue using this app. :)

Great App!. I am already in love with this app. This is how most of my writing gets done.

Great app. It’s sad we have to pay to access some of the other features but I understand. Great app nevertheless would recommend

Yes ! Great. I really like the export feature ( With airdrop as .txt <3 ) Thank you !

Amazing Experience. I’m a young writer, 11, and this really helps provide a place for my writing to stay while we search for publishers. Would recommend to anyone who wanted to write in a simple, private app

Great App for novel writers. I love writing on this app. It has a simple layout, no distractions, and each new document opens with an inspiring quote.

Great App!. This is by far the best app for writers I've ever encountered. Keep up with the great work! But there's just one more thing: Can you add images to your stories? I mean, I can't find any symbol that represents photos, which is odd, because a picture is very special material in stories.

searching for answers. i use this for pretty much all my writing. only strong complaint is that there’s no search function to my knowledge.

Meh - Use OneNote instead. Really not worth the price of the membership. Yeah its snazzy looking and there are a bunch of interesting features, but memberships are dirty, dirty money schemes. I would rather pay for an app out-right. Just calculating that you would hit triple digit payment total after just a year and a half of using this app makes me cringe. This app designer thinks authors are rich. Only thing rich here is his sense of humour about the pricing. Use Microsoft OneNote. Fabulous for note taking, idea gathering, sharing across platforms, mild formatting, and best of all its free.

Poor autosaving. All my work has gone. I feel frustrated.

Easy to use!. Keeps all my writing organized and saves automatically. Great app!

Great experience. I like to use this app to draft my blogging. Then take it and copy it to WordPress for formatting and adding images.

Word smith is the best. I love this app because I can write out my essays and test for school 👌🏿 If your a freshman or a senior I would recommend this app for all those trashy test exams or essay or if you just want to type a story 🙂

Awesome. BEST THING EVA

It's all about the money isn't it?. Garbage. Before the in app updates I purchased all the themes. Now I don't have access to them and you expect me to pay monthly. I think I'll stick to google docs, this app has made me lose all respect for what it once was.

This is annoying. I’ve used this app for years now. And all of a sudden I have to pay to use this app? I don’t have the kind of money lying around to pay for a writing app. I don’t want to have to transfer all of my stories onto a whole another app so I can continue writing. This really annoys me

Love the app but.... Hey there, I love your app when I found out about it I got it and got to writing because I had so many ideas going on in my head but when I went to start a new idea inspired by a YouTube video I saw, it wants me to have a membership and I would love it if you could give non-membership users like me the chance to write more ideas and projects on the app because some people don’t have the money or anything to pay for the subscription fees which are extremely high by the way. Anyways thank you for taking your time to read this review and have a good day/night

Amazing!!. This app is great! 😀😄

Great app for writers. Werdsmith is a really great app, I found it months ago and have been using it since. I love how there is an idea section, and a projects section to keep things more organized. Another great feature is the writing portfolio. Goal setting and such are all really great features, and the app is really simple but really great to use. The only wish I have would be to remove the limit of writing pieces for non-members. I did have a subscription previously, but I haven’t renewed it yet. I’d love to keep using Werdsmith, but the limit of writing can be extremely frustrating as I have to delete writing pieces or move them to another software to keep using the app. I was really surprised to find out it was a one-man team, as it’s a great app. I don’t have any issues with the other paying things, except for the fact non-members are limited. My recommendation for non-members is to have other software to move writing pieces to be able to still keep them. I personally use Werdsmith and Evernote. Honestly, aside from this, Werdsmith is a really great writing app and I recommend it.

Exactly what I wanted. Simple, easy to make bold/italic text, headings, and titles. I can just get my ideas down to paper and let them flow without getting thrown off my train of thought by fonts, text size or page setup. You can even access your stuff online if you want to open the file on a computer. The dark mode is awesome too. I use this app so much! Love it!

I couldn't save anything bc I didn't start my free trial.. I couldn't save anything, trust me I tried. It wouldn't let me start a free trial so I lost everything. The price is too high anyway. I'm sorry but it sucks. Ok well it's a good writing app if you have a lot of money to spend. I'm deleting it tho.

It’s an elegant writing tool but.... ...the perks of becoming a member are not worth it. I believe more people would support this app if there would be more to it then just ‘new themes’ and ‘writing prompts’ you could easily find online.

Almost great. I love pretty well everything about the app - counting my words/how long I’ve written for, the aesthetic and inspirational design/quotes, and everything else - but only allowing you to keep six projects for free is ridiculous, really. I can understand needing premium for other things, but for creating more projects? Really?!

Great app overall, just a few problems.. Hi there. I’ve been using Werdsmith for about six months now, and have had no problems with it up until now. The fact that you have to pay for extra storage is a little extreme for a writing app- after all, the goal of it is to encourage people to write more, am I correct? With that said, I especially like the password function that allows me to feel more secure that no one can get into my writings without my permission. Also, if I did have the money, I most likely would buy the different formats, extra storage, etc. Thank you for creating an app that encourages my love for writing!

Love the app, but….. This app is absolutely amazing, and I love everything about it. I’m currently using it to draft out my first legitimate book, and couldn’t be happier. It’s layout is simple, easy to understand, and exceptionally clean to the eye in a way that makes me fall deeper in love with it every time I open it up. My one complaint would be the lack of a dark mode option when it comes to themes. I know that it automatically syncs with the preset display and brightness of whatever device that I’m using, but I would very much enjoy the option of choosing a more permanent dark mode if I could.

Membership changes?. I’ve written so many things on this app in the novel format and have been using (and paying for it) for years but now I can’t write anything unless I become a member? Even though I’ve been paying for the membership already? Now it’s forcing me to upgrade from monthly to yearly if I wish to keep using that format. I’m not exactly sure what’s going on or maybe I have things confused but if I seriously have to upgrade my plan then I’m just going to cancel it entirely.

Waste of my time. My son simply wanted to write a book and so I got this for him and it did not work. 😤 When he was writing a page of his book lots adds had come up! And by the time he was done watching the adds his book was deleted. Please don’t waste your time or energy! Wish I had known... My son was heartbroken 😭💔💔! I feel like the worst mom ever! He had spent all his free time to write this book! It Ruined his dreams. If you are mom then you know how it feels to watch your kiddo work hard and then have nothing work out. 🤔☹️😞😔😶😓🤧👿😑😑😩

Crashing glitch. Hey, I love this app for my writing. I’m currently pounding out my first manuscript. I wanted to comment on a bug I have noticed in the last few weeks so maybe it can be fixed. I will be in the middle of writing, the app locks up and then, the app refreshes back to the phone’s main screen. I am not sure why this keeps happening but it is incredibly frustrating especially when I’m in the middle of great writing. Fortunately, whatever I was writing up to the point of the crash is saved, but it is annoying. FYI Please, fix it! 💕

Amazing!. I love this app SO much! It is great for writing outlines before writing your story, and even writing short stories. It would be cool if it was an app available on Mac, so I can go from my outlines straight to Word documents.😊 Only reason I gave it four stars, is that you have a story/idea limit. I know that the app is trying to make money, but they already have the premium with tons of other stuff that I would love to buy, but they are not mandatory. I usually either have to delete an idea, or combine ideas to one page😖 Overall, this is a great app that I highly recommend. I would love to see these ideas! Thanks!

Werdsmith has everything you need for your next book!. Werdsmith has everything you need for your next book you are writing. For example, I am writing 2 books right now called future & scars. It has ghostwriter, and if you choose to do the free trial you can talk to other writers and get unlimited ghostwriting! It gives you formats for different righting and if you mess up a word, which most of us do, it dots the red under line and gives you multiple word choices. If I were you, a writer, I would download Werdsmith right now!

Love it - wish there were a version for student use. I love the app for all the reasons everyone has said for making it easy for me to write more regularly. As a teacher, though, I’d love to use it in my high school writing class so students could easily share with me and each other in an app that they can also use freely on their phones, quickly integrating writing into their lives. Notes just doesn’t give the same feeling. And Evernote is somewhat cumbersome, although it’s ability to record audio is a plus. The volume limits of the free version of Werdsmith makes it somewhat less useful for the classroom setting.

Great app! Love it!😍 But.... I loved this app, then I was up to six projects, and I got a little mad because I really wanted to make a new one, but instead I had to delete another one so that I could make that one. And for anyone who doesn’t know already, you have to pay to get more than six projects! Another thing: literally all you can do is write a text if you don’t pay. And I really don’t want to waste my money on just a template. So that’s something you need to fix. What I’m saying is, I don’t like how literally EVERYTHING in this app needs money to get. You don’t have to change it all, just saying. You might have a few angry people using your app. Thankyou!

Writing Limit? C’mon, what the heck?!. I’ve had the app for a few weeks, and I’ve loved it. It was a great way to write and get all my ideas out. And then I came to the writing limit, of which I knew nothing about. Basically, you can start writing, but you can’t get very far without needing to pay a fee to gain membership. I’m a minor and I’m not allowed to spend money on apps, so this has greatly hindered my ability to write. I’ve already got Ideas in the app, and I don’t want to switch to another app! However, since I can’t continue writing without paying a fee I can’t pay, I’m going to have to switch. It’s a shame really. Before the limit, I would have given the app 5 stars.

Question for the developer or anyone who knows.... I actually really enjoy this app. It has become my go to for writing. I love the layout and various layout options depending on what you're writing; piety, screenplays, novel etc. I have the membership and haven't really had any issues as to date. However, I do have a question in regards to the word count. There are two counters. One for words and one for words written and for the life of me I cannot figure out what the difference is and why the count is different. I have about 300 word difference between the two and I don't know why.

Good luck trying to cancel. I used this app for a few months about a year ago and paid for a subscription. When I eventually switched to Scrivener, I decided to cancel my subscription, but if you subscribe in-browser instead of Apple Pay, you’re required to email customer support to cancel your subscription. I have reached out multiple times asking for them to cancel my subscription and aside from automated messages stating that my email was received, I have never gotten a response back. I’m going to have to call my credit card company to prevent them from taking any more of my money. Other than that, it’s a mediocre writing app anyway. You can find a number of better apps with a higher upfront cost that do the job much better. You’ll only pay once and you won’t have to call your bank.

Love it, but a minor issue. Dear Werdsmith, I just got this app, and I think it’s so, so great. It’s very easy to use, even without the paid version (which I will never get because it’s crazy expensive). I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in writing, or even anyone with a single idea. The only issue is, whenever I try to make an account, it says, ᴇʀʀᴏʀ. ᴛʜᴇʀᴇ ᴡᴀs ᴀ ᴘʀᴏʙʟᴇᴍ sɪɢɴɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴜᴘ. ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴛʀʏ ᴀɢᴀɪɴ ʟᴀᴛᴇʀ. This is pretty frustrating, as I want to be able to access everything I’ve written on multiple devices without copying and pasting a million times. Again, this is a great app. Just one problem. Thank you for reading.

I love this app. Formatting is a breeze, I love how nicely projects are separated and stored, I love having my work backed up in the app, I love the stats tool and being able to set a word count goal. The optional ghost writer is useful without being a crutch. Beautiful color options for the app if you’d like something other than red. The Home Screen widget makes quickly jotting down ideas a piece of cake. I genuinely could not be more pleased with this. This is the first app in a long time I feel is worth the money and I am genuinely happy to pay for.

Almost. The app is pretty good. My only complaint and the thing that makes this a 3 star review is the Ghostwriter feature. It’s an amazing feature that can help you in tough spots. The thing I don’t like is that you pay 150 dollars a year to only be allowed to use this feature a select number of times. You also have to wait out a timer each time you do use it. I could understand this being the case for free users, but paid users should have unlimited and unburdened access. If this ever gets fixed, shut up and take my money. As of now I’m requesting a refund because the app does make you believe you have this feature as “unlimited”.

Great App but comes with a bug. I’ve been using this app for months now and it has motivated me to start two writing projects, both are at about 35,000 words. I think it’s well worth $5 a month. I have noticed the larger my novels get the slower they are to load, but I suppose that’s to be expected. App occasionally crashes but it always saves what I have written and I’ve never lost any data. Here’s the bug I have: the arrow to “scroll to bottom” only takes me about 1/3 of the way down my novel, so I either have to scroll down manually, or jump to my most recent chapter to continue writing. I would like this to be fixed.

about the update... I’ve been using werdsmith for years now. I loved its original layout. And now with the update everything is different and it makes the app way less enjoyable in my opinion. Not being able to restore any of my old works due to “reaching the word limit.” And with all my ideas only being able to have one project open at a time..? I even considered buying the membership but after seeing how expensive it was I just couldn’t. Is there any way to go back to the older version? That’s really all I want lol. Can someone please get back to me and tell me what to do? I’d really appreciate it thanks :)

Amazing writing app!. I love this app because I don’t have to pay a single penny to be able to write my own stories, have fun and explore my passion for writing! For instance, after I’ve finished a chapter of my story I can send the link of the app and my story to my friends so that way they can read it to! This review may sound like a robot is typing it but trust me, it’s not. I’m a very living human that is breathing and eating till this day (lol). But seriously, I really enjoy this app and if your looking for an app that will let you write your own stories, share it with friends, have/write notes, ect. (AND NOT PAY, UNLESS YOU WANT A SPECIAL FEATURE OR WHATEVER) then I highly recommend this. To end this review, I love and live for this app!

I Love This!!!!!🦄. Ever since I was small, I loved words. Now I’m a pre-teen and I especially love to write. I love this app because I can now write stories easier than ever! There is a space where you can record your ideas if you ever all of a sudden think of one and remember it. I literally just got this app and I already fell in love with it. You can also set a time when you want Werdsmith to remind you to write each day, because every writer has set time ritual. There is also a space where you can keep all your projects organized and safe. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves writing.

Very good app but one problem.... I’ve had this app for a little while now and let me say I 100% recommend it to anyone not sure about whether writing would be a passion for them or not. I love writing and always have, and this app has made me really flourish in my writing skills. So, thank you for that!!! But one thing I’m having issues with: the glitches. I’ll be writing, and in the middle of something, and the app will randomly kick me off. It does this a lot, and typically I don’t mind it but recently it’s been a bit annoying. I don’t mean to be rude I just thought I’d see if this has been acknowledged on the app or anything. Thank you and have an amazing day! -A.A.B

Can’t install?. I’m currently using the iPad Pro (2018) and for whatever reason, the app seems to not want to install on my device. I’m on the latest version of iOS, I have more than enough storage, but every time I try to open the app, it just reinstalls itself. On the app store page, it gives me the cloud+download icon, and when I press it, nothing happens there either. The app itself looks incredible, and I’m excited to use it. It installed just fine on my phone, so I’m curious as to whether it’s a compatibility issue. Hopefully it gets sorted out, thanks!

Disappointed. I’m a final draft user and was looking for something that would give me similar auto-formatting options and was so excited to find Werdsmith. The ghostwriter prompting option is really cool and a fun way to get new ideas brewing. I LOVE that it auto formats poetry as well and honestly the entire app is just awesome. So why the 3 star rating? I can only access these great features by paying almost $100. There is no option to pay monthly and there is no mention of this subscription price on the App Store. Not even “In app purchases” listed. I understand that services cost money but don’t understand why the developers couldn’t be more transparent about the cost so that the people who can’t afford to pay the $90 necessary to use the formatting features don’t have to have their time wasted. There is a free version but, without the great features that make this app so unique and cool, it is basically just a digital notepad. Conclusion: Awesome app if you can afford to pay $90 for apps.

Best writing app. I love this app for every feature that it has. No annoying adds(I don’t know some that don’t, whether it’s for itself, or for others), the widget that can be used to help you keep track of writing, the writing ritual reminder it has, ghost writer, and word goal. But there are some flaws, you only get 30 lines per month, no adjustments to the background, only 10 projects at a time, no mode adjustment ether, and no where to add it too. If they could add more lines, and more projects to make, otherwise, it’s a really good app to use for writing. I recommend this to anyone that’s reading.

Simple and easy to use. I tried out a few other popular writing apps and this one was the simplest one to get started with (with the most logical organization, in my opinion).. and I can write on my iPhone and it syncs with my IPad as well. But the things that are missing are (I would have given it 4 stars but the lack of laptop integration is a biggie) - no Mac/Windows/web version so book content can be synced/accessed with a laptop - a dictation feature - and a one button undo option. Can you add these please? The lack of ability to work on projects on a laptop is the one thing making me consider using another product. Thanks!

Wish they were more transparent. I love the app but for a big writer who likes to scatter their ideas over different folders I was extremely disappointed to find out the limit was ten ideas/projects before you had to pay. I like this app’s screenwriting abilities but im pretty upset about only being allowed to have ten projects/ideas open before I have to start paying (mind you-I’m a minor. I can’t really pay for this stuff). So yeah . . . I’d appreciate if this caveat was stated more clearly in the app description and if you specified what your limit was.

Great app - one recommendation. This app is great. You can write maxing stories with it and when you are lost, you are able to make a generated sentence to appear, which is my favorite tool. TOTALY recommend for writers, authors or people who just write as a hobby. The only reason I give this 4 stars is because it doesn’t allow you to italicize. I italicize a lot of words in my writing to show the characters thoughts, so this can be annoying. But other than that, the app is amazing and great for writing. If you find a way to italicize your writing, let me know because I haven’t found a way.

Really nice and portable !. I often find myself in places where I can’t bring a laptop with me, like maybe on a bus or plane where it might not be easy to carry a laptop around. Werdsmith makes it easy to write, and the password feature is helpful when trying to keep out sneaky family members or friends from going through my work. There are a few small glitches here and there, and the free version is fine. There are a limited amount of projects you can create, but you can squeeze all of your writing into one document. I write using this app everyday. 10/10 recommend.

Awesome Writing App!. I’ve only been using WerdSmith for 3 days now, but it is absolutely amazing. All the built in formatting features are really nice, and I’m thinking about buying the subscription for the other formatting types (mainly the novel one). However, my only suggestion would be an easier way to preview your document. It’s a pain to always have to go to options->share->preview every couple minutes just to make sure everything looks good. But other than that, I would highly recommend this app to anyone interested in writing!

I love this app!!. It’s amazing been using it since October and have been writing nonstop. It gives you 30 free prompts per month. I would recommend to the creators to add a personalized password to enter the app. Since I have an iphone my password can only be my face id and other people have added their face ids into my phone. And I don’t want them opening it and reading my stories without permission, so I would like and appreciate it if you all could add or think about adding a personalized password. Again love the app and would recommend - have recommended.

Easy, Great App for Writers!. Hello Werdsmith team, Let me start by saying thank you for creating this app for writers. I have been trying many different apps to find the right fit and I always ended up deleting them. Writers, by nature, are fickle beings and I am no exception. It is hard as a writer to feel comfortable with and to trust an app that carries their precious world inside. Werdsmith was truly a god-sent! It really did not take me long to become a member. For all of the perks, I have only one complaint and I am sure you know of this issue already: the novel word count and the app shutting down to the home screen. It honestly does not bother me as much as I thought it would. But that could be the fact that I don’t have to worry about losing a significant amount of work that I had done. I only lose about six words. I will say that the app constantly shutting down and having to find my place again does disrupt the “flow.” Other than that, I would highly recommend this app to all with stories to tell. Thank you for your time!

My favorite writing app. I love this app. I’ve been using it for years. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue. When I am typing on my iPad version and I want to pick it up on my phone because I’m on the go. The app crashes, in fact I have to delete the app and redownload it. I’ve done this several times and wanted to know if there was a way I could avoid having to every time. As for upgrades this is what I like to see: 1. Time stamp for each project or idea so the writer can know when was the last time they wrote on a particular project. 2. Underneath the format tab for novel, poem, and etc. It would be great to add sub folders like chapter, outline, or footnotes so when the writer writes a back story or plot line for there writing they could click over and see the information needed I stead of constantly scrolling up and down to find it. 3. Mac version. I don’t understand why there is a Apple Watch version but not a Mac one. The link they have now to their site is okay, but it’s very limited and there is no dark mode. Which is the main reason I use this app.

Love the app but wish it had more membership options. I’ve been using the app a few years now and really love it. I recently decided to upgrade to the paid version but notice that the price has increased because of the new ghost writing feature and other new options. I totally understand increasing the price for the new features but do wish there were different memberships for those of us who have no use for the ghostwriter feature and are simply looking for unlimited documents instead of the standard 10.

BEST WRITING APP EVER. I love this app because it has ghostwriter so if you get stuck you can have a prompt. It’s very amazing that it can sort of like, look at your writing and see the topic and then it puts an idea related to your writing. It also is very helpful because its hard for me to (sometimes) think of stuff to start my story or I just can’t think of anything else.(🥲) There’s just one thing I don’t understand: (if u can, I’m not sure) how to make chapters if you can. I hope maybe someone could tell me? But, out of all I just said, this app is the literal best writing app I’ve ever had.

Used to be my favorite.. I’ve had this app for a while now, I’ve always paid for the subscription to and I’ve always loved it. Until now that is. Recently it’s been deleting parts of my writing and usually I can just hit the undo/history choice but not even that is working. Half the time undo gives me an error and the other half it says I have no previous history? It doesn’t make sense and it’s very frustrating. I have the app on two different IPhone’s that both have updated IOS and Werdsmith apps. Here’s the thing, I can’t even open the app on one phone anymore. It crashes every time I try to open it. There are no decent writing apps on the app store anymore. It’s unfortunate but I’ll be deleting the app and not renewing my subscription.

Great overall, UI changes on iPhone are a step back. Loved the app to write on my phone when I just needed something user friendly and helpful. The new UI changes in version 5 put a damper on the mobile experience though - the font size is huge to the point of being counterintuitive and makes it difficult to proofread and navigate. If it was a feedback point in the past, I wish there were more formatting options instead, like for font size or spacing between lines. I only use the app’s basic features so these details get to me. Werdsmith is probably the most helpful and reliable writing app for phones overall, and the free version is actually free.

Amazing!. This app has been amazing to use! I currently have the free version and I wish they had an option for paying only once. The free version has been amazing but i would love to use the Novel format and don’t wish spend that kind of money. I understand your need for a subscription based plan but maybe you could put an option of watching an ad for each use of a new format/lighting mode or a price for each format/lighting mode to pay one time. I don’t mean to tell you how to do your job i was merely giving a suggestion. Your app has been a dream and I’m thankful there even is a free version.

Werdsmith. I have used and been loyal to this app for years. It is far and away the best writing application I’ve found, and I am very grateful to have access to such a wonderful tool, whether I use it for drafting a novel or simply jotting quick ideas. However, I would like to suggest one edit to the app that would be extremely helpful. Currently, I have a 60,000-word draft in progress, and I’m working on edits. I would greatly appreciate a way to bookmark a spot in the text, so that after the app is closed, I can return to my place and not have to search and scroll in order to find it. Thank you very much!

Wonderful App, But One Improvement. This app is amazing. The design and color is pleasing — it lets you just focus on writing. It helps you achieve your daily word goals, so on. However…. there is only one tiny improvement. I am writing a fantasy book, and with fantasy books, you often have to make up names for characters and towns. Well, Werdsmith does not learn spellings. So it always changes the names and underlines it in red and keeps bugging me. The mechanics being tucked away is also kind of inconvenient. Apart from that, the app is excellent! If you address the issues I just stated, I’ll definitely give this five stars!

Loving werdsmith and can’t stop writing stories!!🥳🤩😍📝. I love werdsmith because I feel like you can just express your feelings on a sheet of digital paper and let people know that their not alone. I’am working on a story about cristmas and I feel like werdsmith is letting younger users that want to become writers or authors get a head start on publishing books so they can become authors.I’am trying to fulfill my dreams on becoming an author and want to say thank you if your reading this and listening to my short review and also, remember keep writing stories!!!!🤓😘📝🇱🇷

Thank You, Werdsmith Team.. This app has given me a chance to write how I’ve always wanted to. I’ve written thousands upon thousands of words using this app, and my English grade reflects it. I now have the top grade in my class. Along with an improved grade and understanding of the English language, this app provides a safe place for me to write down all of my best pieces without me having to worry about them. Now I spend my free time writing what I hope become the next masterpieces of the literary world instead of playing a game or watching TV. This app is the sole reason I am the writer I am today. For this, I thank the Werdsmith team for creating such an app.

This app is so good!. This app is amazing and I’m only in middle school. I have a script I’ve been working on for my future career and this helped me so much! I was writing on paper before and losing some of the episodes 🤪 The only thing I would critique about this app is that you have to pay for certain features. Ghostwriter is limited to a few uses a day (or week idk) and you have to pay to finish setting up your studio. Other than that, I would recommend this app to all authors and story makers out there!!!

Certain things could be bought instead of part of a subscription. I have been using this app since 2017, I love mostly everything about this app. However, I’m not a fan of having to subscribe to be able to write more ideas or projects, or even do what the app is advertised to do without the implication of needing a subscription to use those features. The formatting requires a subscription, adding more files requires a subscription, themes require a subscription, looking further than a month in the history of a story requires a subscription, I should not have to go on. I feel as though certain things, mainly the themes and formatting, could just be bought, instead of being charged $100 a year just to have the small things that make the app actually look like what it’s advertised as. On top of that, when it comes to deleted works, you don’t have any option to look at it before deleting it. If you want to look at it, you have to restore the work. You cannot restore the work if you are over the writing limit. The writing limit is simply idiotic.

Amazing! The best writing app I’ve tried. This app is great for advanced writers, and beginners alike. I love how simple it is to find work, make a work page, and send to friends everything is Further more, you don’t even have to be a writer! There’s so many different kinds of fonts, colors, and more. The “text” default setting is great for notes, getting ideas out, and more. Not to mention the AI, which although sometimes makes up characters (ex: Hennasy? Who is this?) and sometimes ends things like “She stepped through the door and.” While the grammer sometimes isn’t perfect, it’s become my favorite app quickly. The AI is great at coming up with things that match your book/text/screenplay and overall helping my writing! WerdSmith is so easy to find things in as well, settings and such. I love this app, have recommended it to all my friends and family! Thank you WerdSmith for this amazing app!

Too expensive. UPDATE: So, I didn’t realize that I could restore the purchase I’d made for the unlimited writing. That’s really nice that I could do that. It’s still not an absolutely perfect app, the price is still a bit too high for what it really is but it’s not awful and now that I’m not salty about my purchase disappearing, I’m more inclined to leave four stars instead of my previous two. OLD REVIEW: A few years ago I remember paying like $2 to unlock unlimited projects/ideas or whatever. Then, that became a normal, free feature for everyone. Now, it’s back to being a paid subscription and there’s, of course, nothing being given to me in recognition of the money I paid in the past. At this point, I don’t want to give this app my money because I have no idea how long it’ll last for. The app itself is only okay. There are options for fonts and sizes and colors, etc., but they’re minimal. I wouldn’t pay $5/month for this anyways, honestly. It’s just a notebook with a passcode. That’s too expensive for something so simple.

Great app!. I love it! It’s a little expensive but they have several options so you can choose the plan that works for you. My only complaint is that it’s kind of finicky when writing with Apple Pencil. If you tap on the wrong place it creates a new paragraph instead of continuing the one you were working on. But that might be more of an apple issue and not something the app could fix. Also wish you could scroll higher because it makes you write on the very bottom of the screen and there’s not a lot of space to comfortably hold your hand while writing.

Really great but one issue. Werdsmith is great so far! I’m really enjoying it and was able to draft my first novel on it. The only issue is how ghost writer only has 30 tries and sometimes I click on it by accident which is really annoying since even if you don’t use the prompt it still counts as one. I understand that it’s very high quality AI and that’s why the premium costs so much but if you could change it so when you decline a ghost writer prompt it won’t take away a try that would be really helpful.

Best Free Writer. I am a writer in my spare time, but I still take my writing quite seriously. Werdsmith is a great app for small projects. I personally use it to write one-shots (or single chapter) pieces of fan fiction. I find it to meet my every need. Werdsmith has a lock feature, which is very useful. I was concerned at first about the limitations on how many projects you can write but I have yet to find myself with that number of projects. I am IN LOVE with the word counter and goal tracker. It is immensely satisfying to write for hours, days, weeks, and see that green color pop up telling you you’ve met your word goal. 10/10 would recommend for any writer.

Great for writing on mobile!. I personally write in my free time and this app allows me to organize my writing. The formatting is odd, however. In order to italicize, for example, you must put stars around the words you wish to italicize, which doesn’t benefit you if you are going to transfer this writing into other apps or into a word document. Also, I miss the button with the arrow pointing downwards that would take the writer to the last word they typed. Other than that, I love writing on this app because it is built for mobile use. In comparison, typing on Microsoft Word is much less convenient. The formatting can improve and I’d like the little arrow back!

Not that good.. First, let me list the things I like before I get very critical. I appreciate the fact that they notify you when you want to draw. I don’t use that feature, because i only draw when i’m in a mood to. But besides that, it’s alright. Now my nitpicks, 1. I can’t add images- a little bit of a bummer, but it’s something i can manage. 2. Only 10 documents? Maybe i write too often, but only being able to write 10 stories before i have to pay is kinda absurd. 3. My ghostwriter didn’t work, it would fail and crash, then take away how many i have left. Meaning i’m left with absolutely nothing but 1 less opportunity to use my ghostwriter. That’s all, thank you for reading. To any writers, i wouldn’t really recommend this for those who like to write on impulse and whenever, being restricted by only 10 documents is kinda insane. I sadly will be sticking to google docs, although I do love how organized the app is, the bad outweighs the good. (in my opinion!!)

READ FIRST. Great app. Lovely for writers like me. BUT WHY JUST WHY ONLY 30 PROMPTS A MONTH. I used almost 20 just starting the story. Now I have to wait for a month. Meaning I’m probably not gonna have this app long enough for them to refresh. It should be at least daily. Or weekly. The reason I haven’t deleted this already is because I have two good stories on here. Eventually I’ll just copy them over to a different app and delete this. So. It’s good and great. Only if you spend 150 dollars a year on it. Otherwise you struggle a lot. Change something and you got a loyal follower( words of someone else’s comment not mine)
