====================================

C# (pronounced see sharp) is a multi-paradigm programming language encompassing strong typing, imperative, declarative, functional, generic, object-oriented (class-based), and component-oriented programming disciplines. It was developed by Microsoft within its .NET initiative and later approved as a standard by Ecma and ISO. C# is one of the programming languages designed for the Common Language Infrastructure.

C# is intended to be a simple, modern, general-purpose, object-oriented programming language. Its development team leader is Anders Hejlsberg. The most recent version is C# 4.0, which was released on April 12, 2010.

The name "C sharp" was inspired by musical notation where a sharp indicates that the written note should be made a semitone higher in pitch. This is similar to the language name of C++, where "++" indicates that a variable should be incremented by 1.

Due to technical limitations of display (standard fonts, browsers, etc.) and the fact that the sharp symbol (# music sharp sign) is not present on the standard keyboard, the number sign was chosen to represent the sharp symbol in the written name of the programming language. This convention is reflected in the ECMA-334 C# Language Specification. However, when it is practical to do so (for example, in advertising or in box art), Microsoft uses the intended musical symbol.

The "sharp" suffix has been used by a number of other .NET languages that are variants of existing languages, including J# (a .NET language also designed by Microsoft that is derived from Java 1.1), A# (from Ada), and the functional programming language F#. The original implementation of Eiffel for .NET was called Eiffel#, a name since retired since the full Eiffel language is now supported. The suffix has also been used for libraries, such as Gtk# (a .NET wrapper for GTK+ and other GNOME libraries), Cocoa# (a wrapper for Cocoa) and Qt# (a .NET language binding for the Qt toolkit).

C# Programming Language Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Very usefull. I can't go into too much depth yet my initial reaction to this C# programming app is positive. It seems to be built with mono which is a plus for me since I use Mondevelop exclusively. There does not seem to be an ability to use the virtual or a bluetooth keyboard to input text into the console while a program is running. The author has resolved this by creating a page where each line is the next input in the execution of the program. This works in a limited way as long as you write your code in a predictable way and know what the user will type in next. There is no copy and paste function so you will have to type in each and every line. The author has written a function to send the code to an email address but I don't use email on this device so I can not test it. A copy and paste feature would have been advantageous so I would be able to paste the code into Evernote for access on my computer. In summery, this is a very useful program for learning C# or for writing small snippets of code.

its not free. this app required to be purchased 😡😡😡

Rip off. My only regret is not thinking of this my self it's a waste of money even if you spend money on the complies it doesn't compile jack. You can't even create a form. And even if you hard code it it won't compile properly.

Rip off - DON'T BUY. This is a piece of junk designed to steal money. It is too bad I can't rate it any lower. Looking at the reviews, they must be scamming or paying people to write reviews to make the numbers go up. So sad.

Needs a couple of things. Specifically I hope there will be support for things like graphics libraries. Readability is a bit difficult. Most importantly, I have no idea how to create and reference a class/object in this interface. Needs a reference section specifically suited to making code work in this specific interface.

Mobile C# that works. It works! And just because you have to pay a few bucks for unlimited compiles does not warrant negative reviews. I use this app to sketch out C# tidbits that I later flush out on my laptop.

DO NOT INSTALL. IT HAS NOTHING!!!!!!!!!

Wooooow nice. Thanks... It's really a wonderful application...i have been dreaming about an application like that...

Can I give 0 stars. Do not get this app unless you want to pay. This app shouldn't even have in app purchases. YOU CANT RUN YOUR PROGRAM WITHOUT PAYING

Scam. Don't buy, it's a waste of money. It Doesn't even understand the most basic of code.

False Pricing. Has no functionality unless you pay.

Doesn't work. Gimmick that only compiles the sample.

Scam !!!. This app is useless unless you buy the compilation service.

Insufficient Compilations.. Apparently there are no compilations available and I have to pay to get some. It makes no sense. I need more, for what I am working on, and it is just not enough. I'd only need around 10, I get 0.

Interesting. Looks like a pretty solid app but you are charged based on how many times you compile.

Ignore 1 Stars. When I saw the reviews I was expecting some money grabbing app. The people writing these 1 star reviews are obviously kids who think $3 is breaking the bank. You can pay $1 for 100 compiles or pay $3 for unlimited. The app even has a restore option so you can reinstall or install on another device. Now my review. I don't use this as my main way of writing programs, but it is a great option for while I'm on the go. It's better than other apps I've tried and definitely better than remoting into a PC. +Mobile C# +Good UI +Fare Compile fee -Needs cloud storage linking. I use Google Drive.

Source Code Saving Is a Must. I'm a Visual Studio Developer in C# and VB.NET and found this interesting. Need source code saving at the very least. Inline help would be nice especially since I'm sure the whole .NET Framework isn't available and this would be helpful to see what is available without having to provide documentation. Compiled code to actually run on the iPad or iPhone would be fantastic but I realize Apple's licensing policies is very restrictive. Looking forward to the next release.

AMAZING. Thanks for your great app this is an app that all developers must have it Thank u for your app

Good. Thats a really good compiler, it works fine, but only minus is that you need to pay to compile. I would recommend developer to add 5 free compiling so people can test. Everything else is cool

What a tease.... Nufsaid.

Great. Thanks, for the useful app!

Keeps crashing. I got this app because I am a beginning programmer, but every time I enter the app, it crashes almost immediately. I tried turning my iPad off and back on, but that didn't work. I have tried almost everything but it won't stop crashing. Please fix this.

Would give it higher rating, but.... I was disappointed to find out that there was no automatic indentation, which I found to be a bit of a pain when trying to format my code. Also I would love if the creator would add some frameworks to use such as XNA/MonoGame, but that's just my opinion.

The Real Deal. This app works exactly as described. $3 for the unlimited compiles is totally worth it. Simple, effective app, well done!

$2.99 for unlimited compiling on my phone. Great app for beginners. If you're wanting to play around with coding from the comfort of your phone, this is the app for you. I'm just learning how to code, and I am not always at my computer. It cost $3 bucks. Less than a cup of coffee from Starbucks. I say it's 100% worth it

In-App Purchases. This app forces you to pay for each time your code compiles. Without paying, you get one compile. One. This is ridiculous.

Cannot try before you buy -- NOT FREE. Can't even compile one program to see if the app is even functional/useful unless you buy an in-app purchase.

Can’t test if it will compile code correctly. Can this app handle the Console.ReadLine() command? Can this program handle text color? What are the limitations? This application says free but in order to compile anything other than the demo program it requires a fee. Sure the fee is either .99 for 100 compilations or 2.99 for unlimited but too many developers are taking advantage thinking that it’s only .99 cents so they take your dollar and give you a bad application. If you do this enough it adds up and you lose trust on valid applications. I would suggest you start with a 100 free compilations then block the app from further compilations. We can’t trust the developers demo app since it’s hard coded to compile and run. This app has a ton of limitations and the developer knows that so he structure this to take advantage of that.

Very good - just has no free compiles. The app itself is good; it works as advertised and the price to unlock unlimited compiling is really good compared to other apps. So overall it’s a great deal. The only reason I give 4/5 is you have to spend money to do your first compile meaning you don’t know how well it actually will work until you pay. In my case it works well so far but it’d be nice to do a test run first

I mean it's good, just the paying system is bogus. For a mobile compiler it is very good and does it like Visual Studio would, but I am not investing in an app just so I can test my code a couple of times

Nice. Thank you for thes is program

THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE APP!. PLEASE READ! Yes, you do need to pay money for the app, but it DOES WORK! Don't worry about getting scammed. I just got this and it works. I bought it, and nothing is wrong. GET THIS APP! IT'S WORTH IT!

Probably the only good C# compiler.. This does what it should, and it does it well. 4 stars for the stupid way this is marketed. Just make it paid instead of 2 free compiles.

Meh.... Wont process a loop... 😞

Would be good if not broken. Wrote a small program to test it out and after running it I moved my phone just enough that the screen orientation changed. I don't know if that caused it or if it is a bug regardless but now I can't see any of the code I am writing except the last curly brace

I was looking for this. Thank you

Useful program.. Program really works well for me. Allows me to get work done when I'm out. The only thing that keeps me from giving this five stars is the inability to add a custom template. Otherwise no problems with this app.

Hidden Cost. I run it once, to see if it works. Hooray, it does! I write some lovely code, and I then realise that I have to pay to compile the code... Wow.

Unbelievable. I have used this app for a while. And at first I didn’t like that you had to pay, but I got over it and got a great app. I look at the reviews and people complain about the money. Are you kidding? People pay a thousand dollars for a phone but won’t play a lousy three dollars? I code Unity and developing are a game. This is an amazing app and worth the three dollars. There are a couple errors, but that’s nothing. There are app out there that are probably better. But this is really convenient. I am so sorry devs of this app, you did an amazing job!

WORST app ever. This app requires you to pay to actually run your programs! How stupid!

InApp scam. This app does not work. Requires InApp purchase to use it, otherwise it does not work. Apple needs to investigate and reclassify this app.

Worth every penny. I wanted to make sure that this get what it deserves. Making a free app with no ads that is as nice and complete as this deserves be paid for. The developer will only be able to continue to make apps like this if they can get paid while doing it. This app is exactly what I was looking for in learning C# on the go. $2.99 for unlimited compilations is a bargain and all those complaining just don’t understand how development works. If some builds something and they use there own time and effort, they should be able to ask for compensation. The only thing I wish it had was iPad Shortcuts. Would be great run, build, and compile using a keyboard shortcut instead of having to reach up every time. Not a huge thing just a hopeful want for the future.

They Just Want Your Money. You should at least tell someone they have to pay before they download it. Putting it as "free" is basically false advertising.

Great job!. Does what it says it will do.

Nice but.... Really nice app; however no bluetooth keyboard arrow keys is a huge limitation - if the arrow keys work, 5 stars all day.

I did a Microsoft coding test on it. This app is purely the basics, and has no update functions. However, it's pretty solid and I used it to code a challenge I was given. Ended up being perfect because I was not near my computer when i needed to be most.

Suggested Improvements. Good app, but to be more useful it needs: -Intellisense-like expression completion -More responsive keyboard -Smooth, momentum-based scrolling for code (like output) -no compilation time out errors -the ability to accept input mid-build, like a real console -delete more than one character at a time -horizontal scrolling (no word wrap) These improvements are not ordered by importance! Ill be looking forward to the next update:)

I have to pay to compile??. Would give 0 stars if i could why should i have to pay to compile code?

One time app. Lets you run the program once then asks you for money to run it again… Useless

Very nice.. I love this app. I just use it for viewing my code, but the fact that you can compile and execute code makes it even better. The app lost a star because it can't flip to a landscape view, which would make the code easier to read on smaller devices. Good work though.

Solid app.. First compiler app I have downloaded. Well built and fun to use. Initially caught off guard by the in-app purchases. But fair enough! And usable across all devices with unlimited.

Wonderful app. I'm a junior programmer and I found this to be a great way to practice my C# And my studies I highly recommend people buy this app The only downside is the in-app purchases for unlimited use But I believe this is far because the developer we'll deserves his money Overall great app

Pretty cool app. Although I would really appreciate the incorporation of the ideas below.

Completely useless. You can’t even compile a very very very simple app without buying compilations!!!

Good Learning Tool. First off, the only reason this app gets a decent score is because it's pretty cool having access to a compiler on the iPad. I say access because the app sends your code to a remote server to do the compiling. As you would guess this can be kind of slow. Nonetheless, the real gripes are with the code editor itself. The lack of being able to select and copy large chunks of code, or even delete large selections is a pretty big oversight. As a result I'm mostly coding in the ipad notes app then copying to the editor. This slows me down further and also results in bad syntax errors due to the tendency for the notes app to add capitalizations where I don't what them. You are also very limited in the type of code you can run. The editor only gives you access to the basic system namespace, and there are a few strange limitations with having to declare basic methods as static. But it is good to be able to test code for reference.

you have to pay for compiling your code. it works but you only get one free compilation. unlimited compilation is $3.50

Good app. Needs open in support in order to use google drive/Dropbox/one drive.

Only a Text Editor. So far this is a glorified text editor that charges you for compiling code. So far I am new to C# so it is difficult to write perfect code. There are no autocomplete for the methods or functions? If there were at least some functionality you could make this a more worthwhile app to test out certain code without needing the full PC. I'd like to use it for expanding on math functions etc. and learning more about C#. I spend too much time reading back and forth from the reference or other C# websites. The compiling could be faster also. Please fix these it is actually a good idea if it had a lite version of tools from Visual Studio to support it.

Purchased but not happy. You are stuck in System, and cannot import any other Assemblies. System.ObjectModel.Collections or any non standard Assembly is unimportable. The code is compiled remotely which is a real bummer considering, offline compilation is at really what we need on IOS. I hope the dev chooses a different approach to integrate mono with an IDE on this platform.

Arrow's function. Hi, I just downloaded the app and I was very disappointed when I realized I couldn't move the cursor with my keyboard's arrows because being unable to zoom in the code makes placing the cursor pretty hard and programming really heavy. I hope the problem will be solved as soon as possible. Thank you very much, Hatter142

Cool though. Know how to use c# don't know how to use this app

Garbage. This is the definition of a trash app, you have to compile your code on a server, making offline use impossible, and to make things worse, you have to pay for your code to be compiled.

scrap. this apps do nothing expet sell you compilation autorisation.

Screen locked and arrows functionality. Not having a screen autorotate and arrows functionality for a Bluetooth keyboard makes too much of a problem to code. Limiting it to a vertical point of view with no space to c ur code plus no zoom available. It has the potential and looks promising thou.
