If you’re picking up jogging definitely download this app!. I started this app with the worst expectations. I didn’t think it could ever help me. I just knew after having a baby I needed to get back into running. My sister told me about this app and I thought it was too good to be true. Especially looking at the weeks ahead on the app. I thought, “there’s no way I’m gonna be running for five minutes straight I can barely run for a minute”. This app gave me 100% hope and inspiration to keep going. I’m now on week 3 and feeling better than ever. If you really stick to it and don’t give up, this app will definitely help you get into shape. Don’t second guess it, download this app! You can pay for the premium but the good thing about this app is it works just fine without paying for anything! Just download it! You won’t regret it!

This app made me a runner!. Believe it or not, I can finally run 2.5 miles! I am not overweight and not in terrible shape either. I just had this terrible mental block about running. I didn't think I could run more than a block, ever. But, I kept trying to advance with the help of this app. I would repeat ’days’’, when I didn't have the courage to skip another walking section or stretch the running portion (you can get a preview of what to expect). So for probably two months straight, I kept repeating the same ’day’ with 8 minute running sections. I don't get opportunities to run more than twice a week and I take breaks for vacations or bad weather and sometimes extended breaks for the summer... But, lo and behold, I finally ran 2.5miles! It probably only took me 2 years!

Back into shape and an active life. I used to be an avid runner- my Mile was down to 4:50 pace. As you get older, muscles and dynamics change especially if one does not keep up with fitness. I was trying to get back down to 6min but was going about it the wrong way with a slow jog and getting mileage in. It was frustrating and would take a lot of time just to run. I couldn’t keep at it because I also had this sore on the side of my knee. Come to find out I was going about my run all wrong because of my defeated mentality. This app has changed all that. The mixture of walking and jogging encourages a faster pace and to kick up your knees. The reason; because it’s only 30 min- it’s like that carrot dangling to encourage one to run harder and correctly to build not only calve and thigh muscles, but also the glutes. I cannot emphasize enough on how this app encourages kicking up my knees and picking up my pace during the running portion, thus targets the correct muscles and taking pressure off my knees. Because of all those factors, I can remain consistent and actually look forward to it. I still don’t like running- but 30 min isn’t that long and is a nice escape either with music or talk radio. The best part- being active helps me keep up with my son when I’m playing with him. Just 30 min of my own three days a week- enables me to go the extra mile with my son after a difficult day at work.

Got me running again after 10 years!. I was a competitive runner in high school but after a couple of injuries in high school and college I stopped working out consistently. This past winter a friend suggested we run a 5k together. I had been wanting to try running again and this seemed like the perfect opportunity plus I had someone to hold me accountable. It has taken me longer than the plan laid out in the app but that was by choice. I figured if I came back slowly this new habit would be more likely to stick. Every time I run it gets a little easier and I get more confident. This weekend I will be running my 3rd 5k for the year. I'm not sure I would've gotten to this point without the app. Thank you! My only suggestion for improvement would be to allow me to lock my phone while the app is on. I found that if I lock my phone and allow my screen to go black the app will stop speaking. Other than that everything works great!

Best I have felt in my entire life!!!. This app is the best thing to ever happen to me. I've been exercising for the two months trying to get back in shape. My friend recommended this app to help me prepare. I set a goal to do RAGBRAI next year( bike riding across Iowa) and he thought this would help me out. I've been chunky most of my life. Even when I played sports in high school I was in decent shape but never have I been able to jog longer then a minute. Well, I've been using this app for the last 2 weeks and I just completed week 4 day 1( a week in the app is 3 days). It's intervals of 3 min jog, 90 sec walk, 5 min jog, 2.5 mins walk, and 5 mins jogging for the finish. I have never been able to jog for that much or that long!! This is the best I have ever felt in my entire life! Thank you so much for app. Jogging made easy!

Love it!. This app is everything I’ve heard it is and more! I’ve never been a runner, never really worked out or played sports. I don’t struggle with my weight so I just never saw a reason. This year though I wanted to get truly healthy by giving up some bad habits and getting fit. I wasn’t sure I could do it, but it’s set up to keep you challenged without being impossible. The running/walking ratio keeps gradually moving toward the goal. I was never so sore I didn’t want to run, but I felt myself getting stronger and my endurance growing. I’m now starting week 7 and it’s such an amazing feeling to hear that ding notifying one minute left, and knowing I just ran 2+ miles without stopping. AND without feeling like I’m going to die lol. My first 5k is in 2.5 weeks and I’m so excited. Strongly considering doing the 10k app next! If you’re out of shape and want to get fit, I definitely recommend this app.

Good Progression. If I can keep going so can you. I am about halfway through, I think I am on week five. It has been decades since I was physically active on a regular basis. I have never been a runner; I still do not like running. But I keep going with the help of this app, for three reasons: 1. The pacing is just right. I have been surprised how quickly my endurance is building up, and I’ve not yet once felt like it pushed me too hard; 2. I’ve noticed running gives me better clarity and brain function the rest of the day, no doubt because I am feeding my oxygen-starved brain; 3. Each workout begins with a little inspiring quote to remind me of the mindset I am establishing through this new habit. As for this particular running app, I really like the fact that it allows me to listen to podcasts or training videos while it runs in the background. The prompts to change from running to walking are just loud enough to make the switch without interrupting whatever multitask thing I have going on. I am a 55 year old mother of six and looking forward to running my first 5K.

Makes running FUN by pairing music that motivates YOU. I’ve never understood runners that run w/o music. Some like peace & quiet and taking in the run but I’d rather not hear myself panting :) Cheap me actually purchased the $50/yr music that plays with the C2K5 run as I can change genres, tempos, etc and it’s not the same ole music that I already have. So fun to be in the middle of a run & hear a song from “the good old days.” Also figured that if I ended up stopping after the 8 weeks that the prorated amount would be small when I canceled the music. The app is SMART too. I got through 6 weeks and then concentrated on another health issue for a few weeks and was a bit intimidated to come back to C25K, knowing that I hadn’t run in a few weeks. Well, it actually took me BACK a week for every week that I missed so that I didn’t start over but it also didn’t put me in a position of taking on too much/potentially injuring myself (or my psyche :)) coming back to more than I can handle.

Paywall. It’s absurd that a once-free app switched to locking even the most basic components of the program behind a subscription paywall with the reasoning that they did it “in the best interests of our customers.” As there are other better free alternatives, I’ll definitely switch and continue running with another app. Past day 4, you are required to purchase their “pro version” to continue running with their program. In other reviews, they claim they can justify this change because they have added music and other accessory features within the app. However, I’m sure that, like many other users, the basic running program is the main focus, especially if you’re unlikely to touch the accessory features when you can listen to music through other apps. Instead, there has been incredibly poor decision-making on their part by locking the app's main selling point behind a subscription paywall. A smarter model would preserve the original running program as a free experience and promote the pro version as an optional upgrade with accessory features.

Good app but could be better. I have been using this app for a week and love it so far. I used to run regularly 20 years ago and this is a fabulous app to ease gently back into running or for total novices. You warm up for 5 mins then it’s walk for 2 mins run for 1 mins walk for 2 mins run for 1 mins etc till you get to 25 mins then cool down for the last 5 mins. After 30 mins your workout is complete. The idea is you get to 5 k I believe in about 8 weeks. My only complaint is that you can only do 3 workouts per week which I suppose is good as it’s gentle but it would be nice if they had an option for doing bonus workouts. What I do is repeat days which basically deletes my data for the day I have completed Other than that an excellent app.

3rd time is the charm.. I have used this app previously and ran my first 5k after the first time! I got off track when I had to take care of a terminally ill family member. After a year or so I went back to the app and started again but couldn’t find my motivation, so stopped. January of 2020, I was battling depression, anxiety, high cholesterol, pre diabetes and my weight was at its highest in 15 years. So I started again with the C25K free app. I am proud to say that 18 months later. Im running 4-5 miles 3 days a week, strength training 2 days a week, I’m down almost 50 pounds, cholesterol is down 43 points, depression and anxiety is resolved and no more pre diabetes. This app gives you the tools you need to be successful and I’m super thankful for it!

Worst App. App with incorrect workout information I am surprised with the reviews as the App makes it hard to follow instructions. Seems like fake or self-generated paid reviews. The only thing it really does without a paid subscription is says: “start walking”, “start running” during the App. Which would be fine for free service but it does that at wrong intervals and throws a person off their momentum in the middle of the workout. I started using the App over 10 days ago. The guidance that the App gave during the run did not match the initial overview it gave for the workout that I would be doing on any particular day. First day it happened, it threw me off during the run. I immediately forced myself back into the rhythm and just tried to follow what the app was suggesting. I thought, I may have missed something along the line. Next day, same thing. I kept thinking, I missed something or its an error on a particular day’s workout but the same thing repeated everyday. So today I closely looked at the breakdown of each days workouts the App has provided and the total time of those workouts, which is give or take 30 minutes for each days workout. I added up the breakdown given and it was off by 6-8 minutes on every one of them. Didn’t make any sense. Other than this information(which is incorrect to begin with), the app doesn’t give any other information without a paid subscription and they expect people to pay for bad app.

Optional slower pace of progression please. Running isn't easy. Starting out running is even harder. Trying to start running when you have asthma feels impossible. Running will help build lung endurance, but the asthmatic runner has to understand that while their perseverance will get them to the same abilities of running as someone without asthma, they will progress slower. That being said, how about a slower paced option on this app? It took me three weeks just to get past week one of this program comfortably. Perhaps you can have a setting option (you don't have to say it's for asthmatics, who should seek medical advice - just for anyone who would want or need the feature) where a user could select a slower pace of progression through the program. You could have a slower course with easier transitions. That would be nice to try to help someone who needs to exercise but not get discouraged or frustrated because they can't keep up. You'd be the only ones to have such an option - making you more valuable.

DO IT!!!. I never ever write reviews because I don’t care about this kind of thing enough usually to do that. But this app truly changed my life. I hate running. I hate exercising. I also hate feeling fat and gross after having three kids so I decided to make an effort by exercising. The problem is, I’m 33 years old and have never truly put effort into any kind of exercise so my body was all around out of shape. This app helped me completely ease into becoming a regular runner. I am one day away from completing the program and I’ve lost almost 20 lbs. I have WAY more energy to play with my kids and I feel like a better person all around. I plan to start the 10K training after I finish the 5k (today!) and I’m feeling so proud of myself. If you’re willing to just do the dang thing, you’ll find that you actually can. Don’t tell yourself that you’re not a runner. Don’t tell yourself that you’re too fat or out of shape to do this...trust me, if I can, you can too. My closest friends and family are now doing this app because I can’t stop talking about it...and guess what, they’re losing weight and getting healthy too! JUST DO IT!!!!

Great for novices and seasoned runners returning from injury, alike!. I started using this app several years ago when I decided I wanted to start running. I have always been fit and active, but couldn’t run a mile to save my life. I believed my asthma prevented me from running. What this graduated plan does is methodically ease you in to running, building a solid base of running fitness and endurance. I will never be terribly fast, but I became an average 9.5 min/mile runner, and ultimately discovered a love/obsession with the sport. I have run several 5ks and my now favorite distance, the 1/2 marathon. The last six months I have had 3 big setbacks: major surgery, taking care of an ailing parent, and the dreaded COVID. I couldn’t run a mile…again. So back to this app I came. And because I haven’t lost all my fitness (just my lung capacity 😩) I can already feel my running legs bouncing back. If you are on the fence, don’t hesitate. Best new running/back to running app, ever.

Goal Complete!. I am not athletic. I go through spurts of being active (elliptical and lifting weights mostly). I am overweight, asthmatic , and have never run a mile in my life. However, when I made my bucket-list a few years ago, I put on it to run an entire 5k. I downloaded this app and completed day 1 in March. It may be an 8-week program but I took almost 22 weeks to finish it. I had to repeat days until I could complete them, I repeated the last day of week four about eight times 😂 HOWEVER! I did persevere and I FINISHED!! I just completed my first 5k two days ago and ran (albeit slowly) the whole way! I signed up for my second 5k today hoping to be able to increase my speed and I am going to start training for a 10K this week! In fact, I just got back from a two-and-a-half mile run and I feel great! ✅Bucket-list

Shhh...just trust the app. Ok so I have always hated running and running for even a minute straight was tough. I laughed when I saw some of the workouts through out the weeks on here...me running 5 minutes straight? Several times a workout?? Hah! Well after reading the other reviews and people with similar background having success I gave it a try. It’s like the app puts a finger up to your lips and says “Shhh...just trust me.” You nod your head in silence and reluctantly jump on board. Some how, some way, you get through the workouts. Each week they get a little harder, but somehow you find yourself being able to sustain longer run times. You can’t believe it, it seems too good to be true. But you just don’t think about it and keep going. Because in the back of your mind you are afraid if you do think about it you’ll wake up and it won’t be true. Next thing you know you are running for the longest you’ve ever run in your life!! It’s a miracle! You feel great and your confidence is through the roof! Then it asks you if you want to start training for a 10k. And the panic and self doubt sets in all over. But it works!

This is awesome!. So thankful for this app! It’s a great way to stay in shape and take care of your body. It’s really helpful to have the app pushing you along and sending notifications. Sometimes it’s really hard… but finishing is so rewarding! The gradual increase is good. It’s also really helpful to have accountability and people encouraging you to keep pushing. I’ve been doing this app with some friends from school. I totally recommend it! Even if you can’t run a 5K right now, or even close to a 5K, this app will get you there step by step. I will admit that some days are harder than others… I couldn’t finish Day 1 of Week 4. I had to walk the last two minutes of my final five minute run. It was really discouraging in the moment, but I’ve learned to take it one day at a time and I keep getting stronger, day by day, week by week! Being able to do a 5K doesn’t mean being able to do it without any discomfort, it means having the patience, endurance, and strength to finish even if you think you can’t. But it does get easier. You got this!! 🎉 Cheering fellow runners on!

Not free anymore. :(. I have had this app for a couple of years and used it as a way to just tell me when to start running/walking during intervals. The whole running plan was free! I don’t need anything more. I was disappointed after finally getting through the first week (I don’t have loads of time to run so it took me 2 weeks) I was informed that I now needed a pro membership to continue past the 4th workout. I was so disappointed that I have to go back to timers or find something else. It’s otherwise great if you don’t mind paying for a glorified timer...every month. The couch to 5k plan is excellent and I have used it many times without fancy apps to ease back into running after an extended break. The price tag is a limiting factor as I don’t need much from the app and hate subscriptions. Off to find something new…

App design did not work for me. This app is super annoying, even with the subscription. The “disable sleep” function does not work, so the app goes black on your phone AND watch unless you manually turn off your sleep mode every time you use it. (And even then, the watch still sleeps) And then the vibration does not work on the watch, so when I put my phone in a pocket and tried to rely on my watch, it not only kept going dark, but it also never notified me that I needed to switch to a run. Maybe it is set up to use the voice reminders through headphones, but I wasn’t using headphones because I was running with a partner, and we were chatting. If the app is created to disable sleep function and to vibrate when it’s time to switch, then those features should work on an iPhone X and an Apple Watch 5. When I decided to just carry the phone and watch the screen, every time my skin even barely touched the phone, it would fast forward or back up to a different location in the run, screwing everything up. Basically I wasted a week of trying to run, using this glitchy app. I’ll figure it out myself from now on. I still plan to run, but not using some clunky app that slows me down.

Ads at Unfortunate Times. Overall this app is GREAT. I can put my phone in my pocket and have music on and this app will come through my headphones and tell me exactly when to walk and run. The weeks are organized and set up so I don’t have to keep track of ANYTHING. HOWEVER, the LAST thing I want to do when I’ve finished a 30min exercise and I press “DONE” on the app is listen to a loud, annoying ad that stops my music and doesn’t let me X out until it’s fully played. It’s super annoying. I also don’t appreciate how many of the features you have to pay for: you CANNOT sync this to your Apple Watch on the free version and it’s wont give you any stats on the free version. It’s disappointing. UPDATE: I haven’t received an ad more recently, so I’m updating my rating from 3 stars to 5 stars. I’m not sure if they changed something or if it was just a fluke - but I’m enjoying ending a workout and not having to watch an impromptu ad.

It works! From the Couch 2 running 5K. Started using the app this year. My goal was to run a 5k this fall. Now it took me longer than eight weeks to finish this. The reason being was I doubled or even tripled the weeks. At the beginning I was over weight and extremely out of shape. Today I ran over 5k in 30 minutes. Could not be more self satisfied. At the start I thought there was no way I would be able to run continuously for more than two or even three minutes. I stuck with it, changed my diet, and started working out. I have lost over 35lbs and only 10lbs from my target goal. Now I know I can finish and will be starting the 10k app soon. Also looking forward to this fall where I know I will be able to run my race. Thank you C25K the app is awesome, also like the messages when I open the app. You guys rock! It would have been more difficult without this app.

Never thought I would be a runner. This app is amazing for helping you build up your stamina and endurance. Prior to starting I couldn’t even run half a mile without feeling like I was going to pass out. Now I’m one workout away from finishing the app, and down 20 pounds! I will say that it took me longer than 8 weeks to finish the work outs (more like 12 weeks). I had to repeat some days and started out only using the app 2 days a week instead of 3. But I really like how it gradually eases you into running longer distances. It really helps in slowly increasing the intensity of workouts and avoiding running injuries from increasing your distance too quickly. If you’ve never been a runner and are looking to give shot this app is a must! I’m about to move onto the 10K app, I never thought I would be able to run like this!

Great!!. I love this app!!! I was a complete couch potato and decided I needed to change. I chose to download this app after seeing all the positive reviews. I did week 5 day 2 today. It isn’t easy, but it is possible! I never imagined myself jogging like this and now I actually can envision myself being able to eventually do a 5k if I wanted. My end goal wasn’t a 5k as most people’s is. Mine is just to be healthier and a stepping stone to get into shape. If you have motivation, this app is a must! (If you lack motivation, honestly most diet/exercise apps won’t work for you. Sorry.) I did make the mistake of picking July to start this app. Lol. I stuck with it and will keep it up. This app is perfect for beginners and I will suggest it to anyone looking to get into a new exercise routine.

Life changing app. I’m 46 years old and haven’t exercised regularly since high school. My philosophy about running has always been that it can’t be worth it because I’ve never seen a jogger with a smile on his face. But once I realized that I was 30 pounds overweight and was out of breath after just a few minutes of basketball with my 10 and 7 year old sons, I knew I had to make changes. I saw this app and decided to give it a try. On my first day it was all I could muster to run for 60 seconds, but knowing I had 90 seconds of walking afterward gave me just what I needed to get through. That pattern continued each day as the app gradually ramped up my running time. Suddenly after three weeks I found that I was able to manage the work load with a bit more ease. Encouraged, I thumbed through the next two weeks to see what was ahead. However, I forgot to thumb back to the day I was supposed to be on when my next run started, so suddenly I went from the end of week three to the beginning of week six. To my amazement, I was able to do it! So, I just kept going. This morning I ran 5K and felt exhausted but great afterwards. I have lost 20 pounds and have gone from barely able to run for 60 seconds to comfortably running for over 30 minutes. This app works! I doubt that I have a smile on my face while I’m jogging, but I sure do have one afterwards!

Awesome Trainer!. Just completed my first week and I'm on top of the world! C25K is so user friendly and gives me the confidence and guidance I need to be successful. The goal actually feels attainable. I love especially the ability to sync with your music on iTunes and this app called RockMyRun that adjusts the tempo of the music based on your strut or even your BPM or Heart Rate. It also syncs with my Apple Watch which is quite handy and allows me to just feel and see when I need to switch to walking from running and vice versa as opposed to solely audio cues through my headset, which I have found that I'm not always alerted, one of the reasons I gave the app 4 stars. I also gave the app 4 stars because if I happen to go into the forum, there seems to be no way of exiting back out to the main area of the app for training without quitting the app and reopening. But other than the quirks I mentioned that need to be fixed, this is an awesome trainer overall!

Safe but Challenging. This app is great for beginner to intermediate runners who have some experience with running but want to train for a 5K. Now it is a little challenging at times if you are not used to running the distance it tells you for what level you're at, but I have seen results in my body from doing this training. I do wonder if the app takes into consideration that a person should be on a particular diet to run each level as it comes or you should be in particularly good shape but otherwise this is a good app and if I feel like I am not ready to go on I just repeat the session before until I'm ready to move on, which prolongs the process but it keeps me moving. I'm going to continue through until the very end, and then write another review. #runon #dontquit #fromHollyWouldtoHollyWILL :-)

Not an avid runner but doing it at 59. I had used other methods of the walk/run routines to train for a 5K starting when I was 52 yrs old. With those - I never actually ran 5K. The week before the race the old routine would have me run 10 minutes & walk 1 minute. I started using this app 2 years ago. I finished my first 5K feeling like a champ instead of thank God it’s done. I have been using it ever since. Once I finish the whole routine I add 2 minutes more each week so when I run a race I feel great. I am not an avid runner. I run mainly in the spring & fall but use this app to prepare for a race. I usually start at week 3-5 depending on how long it has been since I ran. I do walk/hike a lot so that helps in between. Highly recommend this app! I use the free app.

Absolutely Love but $$. I fell in love with the free version of this app, really was excited to watch my progress and enjoyed the format of it etc. it’s simple, straight forward, syncs up & keeps pushing you. The increments of running is really well paced too for someone who is not a runner. I felt it gets you to a runners shape quicker than other running apps. I signed up for the paid version and sadly I think it’s just a bit too pricey for what it offers. I wish I could buy it outright & not have to pay $15 every 3 months. It feels like subscribers have to make up for people who only want to use it for a month or two, when I’d like to continue using it for years. Even an annual price would be less jarring than every 3 months. Still a great running app and if you can budget for it, highly recommend.

Awesome app!!. Always scared of running! Not in shape and didn't know where to start but this app is awesome. Yes it will challenge you but if I can do it so can you! It's designed to help us couch potatoes put down the bag of chips and work those legs! So far I've kept up with it and excited to see the end results! I don't know if i ever want to run a 5k but being able to not get winded so easily and getting in shape is with it! Always scared of running! Grateful. I’ve wanted to get in shape for years but was convinced that I should resign myself to just being frumpy. When one of my kids joined track, I remembered how much I loved track when I was the same age. (At all other ages before and after I didn’t like running though lol) I’ve made small efforts here and there to adjust my lifestyle so that I could be healthier for myself and my family. Fear of actually winding up overweight and frumpy for the rest of my life, and fear that I’d never get energy back, be at a healthy weight, or see my actual knees and have real calves again, led me to decide to use the C25K program. I was surprised how many people hadn’t heard of the program, but I’ve been sharing it through social media and through word of mouth whenever I finish a session. The app makes it easy to share to social media so that my friends and family can cheer me on and keep me accountable, while giving me pride in seeing what I’ve accomplished. There’s a community area of other people using the program, and even a place on the app to locate local 5K runs to sign up for so you have a goal to push towards! I’m excited about continuing my journey, and happily surprised at how easy it is. I recommend setting up a playlist on your music since the app chooses the same series of songs otherwise. Just trust yourself to get the first few steps out of the door and let the app do the rest! HAPPY RUNNING!

So far so GOOD. Just a little background story, I have never ever jogged/ran in my life unless I was being chased and that has never happened. I am on my fourth week on the app. When I first started my first week, I thought I was going to die by the end of the one min jog and this also happened as the weeks progressed. Yet, I am alive and loving it!!!! The app suggests three days a week I go with four days a week just to build my tolerance and I think it works well for me. I am in my third week and about to close it. When the three min jog first started, I thought I was going to die and I was about to hit STOP on the treadmill but I kept going and didn’t. By the third jog, I actually thought the three mins went by fast and I’m excited!!! I hope you will give this app a try!!!! It really works and I can’t wait for my fourth week of feeling (I’m going to die)!!!

Good, but not Great. It does a good job of starting simple and building over time, but there are a couple big cons for me that keep me from giving it 4 or 5 stars. Pros: - pre-designed training sessions so you don’t have to research, build a training schedule and figure out when to walk vs run each day. - built in playlists - when using their music, the coaching can still be heard easily so you don’t miss a cue Cons: - music variety isn’t great, you can only skip a couple times, some playlists aren’t long enough to last the 35 minutes if you skip 1 song - if using another music app, you can’t hear the apps cues/notifications, they’re extremely quiet and it doesn’t lower the volume of your music. - the noise indicating to start/stop jogging is the same as the halfway/1 minute notification so when your jogging you hear the ding and start waking only to find out it’s just updating you on where your at in the session, this could easily be a different noise so you don’t loose your rhythm - to hit the distance goals, including the final 5K run, it assumes your running 9min mile which for a couch to 5K app is ridiculously unrealistic - on the final Run a 5k session, despite having built in GPS tracking, it just starts a timer for 30 minutes, absolutely nothing about distance so I guess if you haven’t hit 3.2mi at exactly the 30min mark your out of luck and on your own to figure it out.

Basic Functionality But Doesn’t Reach 5k. I’m just about to graduate week 8 of C25K, and I am debating whether or not I’ll continue to use ZenLabs’ app to continue working toward 10k. Unless you pay for ZenLabs Unlimited, the features are extremely basic, including no Apple Watch integration. The voiceover for the intervals is really the only perk here, but it is helpful and motivating to have your runs set up three days a week. My biggest complaint is that once you’re through the first half of the program, you begin running longer runs to use the stamina you’ve built, but the app assumes people are running a 10 minute mile. If people are truly couch potatoes, a 10 minute mile in only four weeks doesn’t seem realistic. Right now, I’m running the final 28 minute runs at a 13 minute pace, and so I’m going to need to keep training to reach 5k. Despite having a distance goal, this program uses all time-based intervals (ex: run 5 minutes, walk 3) rather than distance. The app is really rudimentary and if I could do it over again, I’d recommend everyone use another app.

Now a runner. I was not a runner. I hated cardio. I love long walks and hikes. I can spend a ton of time on the elliptical or stationary bike. I could do any yoga class. I loved the weight machine. However, when my gym shut down and some of that equipment became unavailable, I knew I needed to find something new to keep me moving. Today I completed week 7, day 1 of the program. I have my fastest mile time since high school. I need to officially expand my running loop. I have shaved 3 minutes off my mile/minute time. I never thought I could run for longer than a few minutes at a time but today I ran for longer than 25 minutes. I have been working through the C25K program with a clean eating focus. I am down almost 20 pounds. All of my clothes are fitting better or too big. However, those have not been my favorite accomplishments. Rather I am proud of the progress I have made. I am proud to call myself a runner. I am looking forward to starting the 10k program after this.

I was NOT a runner...until now. I always hated running. Just running a mile in high school was miserable for me. But I gave this app a try hoping somehow I would learn to pace myself enough to actually enjoy it. I will never forget the day the app tells you to run two miles without stopping. I read it and thought to myself, “there is NO way!”. But I gave it a shot. At the start of mile two, I wasn’t even winded. This huge smile burst across my face. I was running. And I liked it. And I didn’t feel like I was going to die. I finished the 8 week train by registering for a 5k race. I put myself at the back to start because I thought I would be one of the last to finish. Much to my SHOCK, out of 200+ people, I placed 3rd in the race! C25K turned a 30 year old that hated running, into a 5k race winner.

Best app for beginners. If you hate running but want to start running because your friends are runners and you want to be like your friends (or just improve your overall health), this is the best app to start with. I've always hated running. I couldn't even run down the street without stopping and bending over, trying to catch my breath while holding up one finger saying "I'm fine, just keep going". I wanted to change up my workout routine so I thought I'd overcome this inability by learning how to run. I heard about this app and decided to download it while eating a bowl of chips. I was going to start tomorrow. And I did. I'm on week 3 and I gotta say, now I can run down the street, around the block, to the corner, without bending over. It's a great feeling. If you're a new runner and don't know where to begin, this is hands down the best app to download (from my experience).

My stubby self can now jog a 5K. I was never a runner. I’m the give me a weight and I’m solid kind of chick. I decided to give it a try this summer as I work near Central Park. Walking around the park, you will see hundreds of people within an hour. A large percentage of that are runners! I thought to myself, I can workout and enjoy the scenery around me in one shot. I gave it a go with this app as a friend had recommended it (it’s free, like hello, free app and a free workout). This app is awesome in that the countdown is always on time and I’ve never had an issue with it blanking out like my music app does. Which is why I continue to use this app even though I’m not consistently running anymore. I finished the program and kind of fell off the wagon but keep it around for motivation!

Great for beginners!. I've never jogged in my life and I had poor cardio endurance. I had never jogged more then a minute and a half, even that was a struggle. I am a physical therapist assistant so I know a little about exercise. I believe this app has helped me lower my hate rate and build up endurance. I thought I would drop back a day or two because of the lack of confidence and faith in workout apps, but this app was perfect. I haven't repeated one day yet. I can tell they did a lot of research and put forth a lot of knowledge to prepare this app for anyone. I'm not a person who gives many apps 5 stars. I only thought of one thing I would change in this app. The way the music is set up. I am on my fifth week and excited to run my first 5k in July. I believe I am a healthier person and I'm excited the designers of this app have done an exceptional job in creating a way to make it easy to be healthier. All you need is motivation and drive and you can succeed!!! Good luck!

I’m not a runner. I’ve never been a runner and I’ve never enjoyed it, until now. I live on the beach in San Diego and always envy the fit runners on the boardwalk and beach. I’ve always wished that were me. This app has allowed me to finally feel like I’m capable of becoming a runner. I randomly downloaded it and decided I’m going to try. At first I wasn’t hopeful but after the first week I found I looked forward to my next run. I’ve been running barefoot in the sand along the waters edge. Not only is it physically great for me but the mental benefits have been awesome. I feel happy, taking in the air, the earth. It’s freeing. And when I finish my workout I feel even more accomplished and stroll back home looking at the ocean. Anyone who’s been afraid to start running, I promise, this is the app for you! You’ll love it! Thanks C25K for getting me outside and breathing.

Wish app in sync for phone and Fitbit but this app is amazing!. Besides the fact I wish the app on my Fitbit watch would sync to the app on my phone, the only other thing I could ever ask for, but don’t entirely need, would the app adjust the tempo of your music between jogging and walking sections. In the meantime, I just keep a good playlist rotation. This app is amazing for beginning cardio to advanced and you don’t even need to actually be running in the beginning if you are deconditioned. You can slow walk then speed walk during jogging or you can jog at the walk and run at the jog sections. The versatility on this app with its training is the reason why I recommend it to friends, family and patients/clients. The visuals for the sectioned areas work wonders in making myself push if I’m starting to feel the need to slow down. As someone with ADHD, it is good incentive to keep going when I can see my progress. I can also appreciate that even the free version allows you to return and redo sections. It helps when I had to take break (e.g. I broke my ankle, pun unintended) and have to start over or I found the last workout particularly difficult and want to do it again before moving on to the next. If I could afford to buy the upgraded version, I probably would. In the meantime, thank you C25K for bringing something to the table that can help people, especially those without the means to pay for all these other apps and programs!

I’m a C25K Graduate! You can do it, too!. If on a scale of 0 to 10 you rate the love of running at zero, you can absolutely complete this app. I had such negative thoughts when I downloaded C25K because it expected you to be able to run the whole 5K distance in 30 minutes, but before I took off on Day 1 I thought to myself “Some is better than none.” Each day and week, I followed the time suggestions instead of the distance suggestions located at the very top of the screen. That helped me build my running endurance. Since completing Week 8, Day 3, I’ve been able to reach the full 5K distance in less than 35 minutes. I never thought I would see the day where I could run a 5K without stopping. Practice makes progress. Have the drive within yourself and just get started. Now on to an official race!

Helping me become a runner!!. As an adult, I had stopped running because it hurt my knees too much (I'm more of a swimmer). I tried this app to prepare for the 5K for Wanderlust. I love how it starts out easy and it builds up as you build up your stamina and endurance. It still hurt a lot the first time, but it was short enough that two days later, I was willing to do my next round. I found that I was able to keep up AND, I was blessed with tips from runners on Instagram on how to land, to take smaller steps, and to pace myself. I'm only on week 4 but I'm so happy that I can run 5 minutes without stopping!!! It made me motivated and I bought new jogging clothes and audio books. I'm so excited now about running that I've run three days consecutively without a break! Who would have thought this would become a "habit"! Lol. Thank you so much for this app!!!

I NEVER write reviews.. I did this little app on a whim. My girlfriend had been wanting to be in better shape and take control of herself and her life meanwhile my fat self couldn’t have cared any less about myself. I decided I’d do this app with her to help keep her motivated and get myself into some sort of shape, though skeptical as to how I could go from not running since high school sports to now about ten years later and be able to run a 5k In 8 weeks only running three days a week. Well we stuck with it and from day one I was shocked as to how strenuous but not at the same time it was. Long story short yesterday I ran a 5k, i never thought or dreamed I’d do that again In life and here I am, almost 40 pounds down and running no less than 2 miles every time I go out to run. If you just wanna get in better shape this is the app for you. Very great would recommend to anyone.

Been using for years now. I go from every weight to every level of fitness and I always come back to this program. Sometimes I start from week one, other times from week 3. This time I started from week 3 and did that for two weeks and week 4 for about 3 weeks and I’ve been on week five for about two months. I’ve done c210k as well when K began running 7-8 miles three times a week. I just go with what my body is telling me at that time and what I have time for before or after work. I have done the whole program in 8 weeks or like now just stayed on week 5 because it’s all I can do now. Just listen to your body. Now I have old eyes. I wish the print was huge so I can go without reading glasses to find my week and day easier. That’s my only complaint.

Inconsistent Performance. I got this app specifically because a family recommended it, and because it had such great reviews. The best thing I can say about it is at least I got it for free. The performance is so inconsistent that it was difficult at first to identify where the problem was occurring. In a nutshell, the app just stops alerting you when to change activities. I tried it in an armband first, but figured the problem was because it was a cheap one. I tried using it in a belt and had the same problem. I've had the most success holding it in my hand while I run, but even that didn't produce consistent results. A secondary issue is the placement of the ads. They pop up almost every time you touch the screen. This is merely an annoyance until you need to troubleshoot mid workout. They actively inhibit the user from being able to use the app, which is a significant disincentive to then purchase that app.

Success story. Started using the C25K app in October after more than 18 months of ZERO working out. When I started, I had serious doubts about whether I would be able to do that 20 minute run at the end of week 5. Never missed a run (it’s only 3x per week), and after completing 8 weeks, I ran 5k for my first run of week 9. Have run 5k 3x per week since, today being run 3 of week 11. Time is slowly getting better: today was 33:34, not including warm up and cool down. I only did the free version, as I have an activity tracker that does pulse, distance, cadence, etc. I just needed the plan, and the app really helps when you’re still in the walk/run parts of the plan. I highly recommend it. Thanks, zenilabs, for making the basic version free.

This app is changing my life!!. I’ve kind of been putting off writing a review, because I don’t know if I can accurately put into words exactly how I feel about this app & how it’s helping me.... I’ve never been a runner. Never thought I would become one. If I ever made it into a gym, I would leave before really doing anything. I felt just as uncomfortable in the cardio room as I did in the weight room. I finally had enough & became miserable enough to do something & make a change in my life. Someone suggested this app and I reluctantly tried it. I couldn’t even run for 30 seconds before I started using this app. I just completed week 6 day 2, running two 10 minute stretches. Every day I run using this app, I’m just speechless. It’s helping me build my endurance & confidence more than anything ever has. Coming to the gym isn’t a chore anymore. I actually enjoy it.. it’s a challenge, but I know I can do it now! I just signed up for my first 5K :) and I got my best friend to try it with me... she’s in her 50s, has never run either & every day is progressing with this app!

Keeps crashing on my IPhone XR. I’m really disappointed that this app didn’t work out for me. This app crashed 2 of 3 workouts that I tried to use it. This app does not give you any distance, map or heart rate stats unless you pay for it. Which is fine but the app apparently doesn’t like it very much or there are some bugs. I ALWAYS have my apps and IOS software update and restart my phone just in case if I start having app issues. The first time I used it everything was going great but my Apple Watch detected I was doing a workout and I started the outdoor run, shortly afterwards my app crashed and lost my workout. Day 2 I used the default workout app on my Apple Watch and everything was fine no issues. Day 3 did the same steps as day 2 and the app crashed halfway through my workout. It’s extremely frustrating losing your progress so I downloaded a competitor and if it’s stable during my 7 day trail they will probably get my money. Sorry C25K you missed out on some $$. I at least gave you 2 stars because I did like the app layout and the screen lock feature for keeping the app in the foreground.

Get off of the couch and do this. If someone told me 8 weeks ago I would be able to run 3 miles without stopping in just short of a few months they would be getting multiple awards for comedic performance from me This works. Like it really, really does work if you stick to it and don’t give up. The hard part isn’t running its getting up and putting your shoes on to get out of the door. There were a few days where I fell short and I wasn’t able to complete a day, but I just redid it a few days later and I’ve always progressed This is the only thing that has truly worked in changing my life for the better. My endurance is the highest it’s ever been in my entire life and my leg muscles have noticeably grown since starting the program.

A way to STARt. I first used c25k in 2015. I went from (trying to)running to make the train and needing 30min to recover to running 5km in 25min. It spurred me on to use the next training app and run a half marathon! After 12months break I’m back running again and using C25K as a starting point again. Why? Because It works.

Good, but. Agree. Great app so far but cannot always hear the commands. Would be good if it interrupted whatever else was playing. Also - I have used another that had a bar graph indicating where you were up to in the run /walk cycle so you could easily see how many runs were left

I actually ran 5km?!. I was pretty sceptical when I started using this app but man was I wrong!! It’s easy to use and it actually helped me achieve my goal! Which was to run 5km to raise money for cancer research and at the the time seemed like it was going to be impossible being a full time smoker and weight almost 100kg but I knocked it out of the park because of this app!!! Now I recommend it to everyone 👌🏻

Great to use and easy to understand!. Just started to try and run more consistently- I'm 32 and never been a great runner. Feel this is easy to use and build up

Back to the app after a hiatus. I’m back using this app again after a break of around 8 months. I love it. It builds my cardio fitness incrementally which I then notice in my other sports. Love listening to podcast and music in the background. They’re a great distraction. Highly recommend.

Does not work well with Apple Watch. I have the same issue - repeatedly - where the watch gets stuck on a particular run and does move on. I feel like it is ground hog day. I am currently stuck on week 2 day 2. This is about the third time. I have previously uninstalled the phone app and my watch app and various options of uninstalling one or the other. Nothing has consistently worked. I’ve gone into manual mode on my watch and moved to the next session but that didn’t sync back to the phone. I would like my money back.

Great app for beginners.. This app is adept for newbies who are wanting to start long Interval training or marathon training. I got up to week 5 and then gave up but now I’m back in the swing of it. Why buy the app when you have the whole bundle here! Great app performance. Voices can be bugged sometimes and don’t cue when they’re meant to. Highly recommend for others 4/5 stars. 😅🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Good!. Enjoying it to train my sons to run! Nice audible alerts. The way the walk/run intervals are spaced is working for us. The interface looks great. One little thing, I cannot read the tiny description at the top of the workout without my glasses. Maybe we can hear a description as we warm up? Cheers!

Definitely gave me confidence to run!. This is an awesome app and free too! I am not at all fit yet but am finding it very easy to follow. I can see myself sticking with this program. Give it a try!

Just get it!. Have a go. It starts at a beginners pace. You can always repeat a day. You can also use your music while the app is working to get your groove on.

Easy to use. I'm enjoying the app so far. I wish there was an option to play a podcast instead of music, and also an Apple Watch app. Otherwise, I'll keep using and recommend.

C25K but distance measured in miles. Love the app, except for a few niggles Can’t seem to change the distance from miles to kilometres. Keeps asking me to rate the app even when I have. Apart from that it has got me running regularly

Great, but please support kms too!. This app would get 5 stars, if only when there are distances the descriptions of what you’re going to do each day would just be written in km as well as miles, or swap out if you have kms chosen. It’s difficult for those that don’t work in miles to read - jog 1 mile. Please add kms properly for all your apps!

So much easier than I expected.. For someone who is extremely unfit, this workout was surprisingly easy. A great way to ease into fitness. 100% recommend

Love it!. I love this app sooo much, it has helped me to lose 35kg in the past and after regaining that weight due to an injury (not related to running) I am more than excited to use it to lose it again! Highly recommend.

Functional and easy. Easy to use and navigate through the app, can listen to music whilst hearing the audible alerts, no trouble with music randomly going on/off when I open or close the app, or turn my phone on/off which are problems I've had with other similar apps. Nice job 👌🏻✨

Best get back into running app. I have used multiple times. It’s starts really gently. A great way to get back into it. Ramps up a bit at the end but you can always repeat a week near the end if you need to get a bit more fitness before you move on. Give it a go!

Crashes. I have used this app twice, and when i got it the second time I remembered why I had stopped using it. It kept on crashing and half way through a run it would say "you are finished" and then it would have other times when the running portions didn't stop?. The same issues kept of happening, was slightly disappointed

Terrible syncing with Apple Watch. I upgraded to pro to be able to better sync with my Apple Watch and get notifications on my watch during my run and to see stats in real time. So disappointed that you cannot have the phone and watch operating at the same time as I consistently had issues starting my run from my watch and the guide says that you have to start the run from your phone. So stupid and frustrating. Even when just using the phone I continually missed notifications to start running or walking on my watch and there were no voice alerts when playing music through my iTunes. Have switched to another app.

Easy to follow. Good program for very unfit. Have started it before and didn’t get past 2 weeks but would like to give it another go and try to stick to it this time. Looks a great program and so good for myself being 125kg.

Great start to fitness. Really loving this app so far. Easy to use, and takes the thinking out of a running program. Just hit start and it tells you when to run and walk. I’m actually enjoying running again.

Worked ok. It does work, did not have any issues with bugs. Bit annoying to use, but if you work around it it’s still a free app and that’s nice. Doesn’t cut out half way or anything. It’s a couch to 5k, but run data is in miles? Ridiculous. Would be nicer to say how long you’re running/walking each bit in each workout, ie “run for eight minutes” instead of just “begin running”

Works well. Keeps loading to a white screen. Great when it actually works though but inconsistent in functioning. Wifi signal is fine and other apps are working well. The material on the app is great, just needs to work consistently

Get better value on their longer distance apps. As a fitness program, it works great. However, this app is more or less superseded by any of their longer distance apps.. For example, the 10K app has the initial c25k and the addition of back to 10k, so why would I waste $8 on the c25k app when the combined 10K costs $10 (which as a separate app you have to pay for the 10K if you only bought the c25k) Bought the c25k version, in hindsight might have purchased the full marathon one and took my time on it.

I can’t see any stats. I finished my 1st work out & a map appeared briefly on my screen but I can’t figure out how to access it. Then there’s a permanent notification of some kind which appears to be a link to tracking distances, calories etc, but it’s just an advertisement for other apps. I may be missing something, but if so, my 2 star rating is purely because the menu isn’t logical to me. The concept of the app & promoting of various exercises is great.

needs to be free. I was having a great time using this app, but when I got to week 2 day 2, it required me to pay money to continue using the app! I think that this is ridiculous and that the app should be free to use for everyone. There is the option to go pro, but this is not required. Would have loved to complete my c25k but now I can’t. Thanks heaps guys.

Ok, but “miles”!. This app does all it should, it has integration between iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods and iPad. It seems to gently introduce the runner and so far, I’ve kept on course. Unfortunately, the runs in a few weeks to be ½ a mile or ¾ of a mile. Now that may be fine if your an American or Brit, but the entire rest of the world uses metic. What’s a mile? Seriously, this needs to be internationised!

Good but could be better. It’s a great concept and works pretty well but ads are annoying and the alerts are delayed if you are not on the screen watching it

Stick with the free version. Don’t bother upgrading to the paid app if you just want to access to the music. You can’t shuffle the playlists. You can only skip songs 6 times per an hour, so if you are using the same playlist each run, you’re stuck with listening to pretty much the same thing each time (i.e. You can start at Song #1 or Song #7). Also, if you’re wanting music to help with your running cadence, the playlists all have the same listed BPM as 130 (even if the playlist is called “Workout 170” has a listed BPM of 130) which is way too low for safe running. The BPM of the playlists I’ve listened to are also all over the shop, actually making it harder to have a consistent cadence.

Pretty great. It's great. I thought it would be hard doing even the first week but my boyfriend who never runs ever had no trouble! All I'd say is the notification system is very very quiet. If there was an option to turn up the notification sounds I'd put 5 stars in a heartbeat, but I kept missing them while listening to music and had to keep checking my phone which was super inconvenient

Thank you ... again!. I first used this app several years ago and completely amazed myself when I accomplished my first 30 minute run. I then went on to complete 60 minute run with the app 10K. After a significant break I have again utilised this app and gained back my ability to run 30 minutes. This app has made this challenge feel achievable through gradual steps, love it!

Best app going!. I'm just over half way through this app. I started off hardly being able to run to the bathroom. It breaks the runs down into sizeable chunks and progresses you through them at a great pace. I'm feeling better, loosing weight and my endurance has significantly increased. Can't recommend this enough.

Extremely helpful. For someone who could barely run 1 minute without feeling like I was exhausted, I always wished I was a runner. I decided to give this app a go and I just finished and can now say I can officially run a full 30 minutes without walking! It was an easy build up and I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to try running! I’ll be doing the 10K app soon :)

Such a shame it’s no longer for free. This app was excellent and was the only thing that motivated me to get off the couch and start running (safely). I’d gone off running again but keen to take it back up and downloaded this last week and just got to week 2 to sadly realise I now have to pay. Have deleted and looking for a free app. Disappointing

Amazing!!! ❤️. I got this app a few days ago and I have to say, I am quite impressed. It has a great layout and is so easy to follow. The notifications and voice in the background motivate you and tell you exactly when to stop/start and begin. The only thing I would say wasn’t too great was the warm ups and cool offs. They tell you when to do it but don’t tell you what warm ups or cool downs to do. They just count down the time. Apart from that I think the app is amazing and I would definitely recommend it!!

Good enough. This app is infuriating. They seem to be so hell bent on getting you to sign up for the premium service - including things literally no one needs, like the music player - that they’ll ping you with notifications throughout the run. So the notifications are useless as you don’t know if it’s for the next session or some other random thing. Don’t break core functionality.

Pretty great but can’t hear the commands well. I like this app most out of a few I’ve tried because it’s simple and straightforward. My only problem is I sometimes don’t hear the beeps and the start/stop running notifications if I’m listening to a podcast or something while running. I’ve noticed when I have the app open (ie my phone is in my hand and I’m in the app) then the commands are at the same volume as whatever else I’m listening to and I can hear them without a problem, but if I have my phone locked and in my pocket while running they’re much fainter and I often miss them so end up just guessing when to start/stop running or I have to stop and check which is a bit inconvenient. Would be great if the commands played at the same volume as music/podcasts! I wouldn’t mind missing a few seconds of whatever I’m listening to for the commands to be heard.

Some technical issues but pretty good. If I could I would give this 3.5 stars. I’ve had some weird technical issues with this app, i.e. not calling out the prompts unless the screen is on, and unlocking my phone while I’m running and cancelling the program, but overall it got the job done and is easy to use. It’s a bit annoying that you can only use iTunes and /have/ to pick a playlist without being able to pick one artist or song but that’s something I can get over.

I like it but….. Being new to running what would make this app even better (and not jus another running app) was if there was some running hints and tips. I know it’s not rocket science, but I would love to know more about things to focus on eg breathing, stride etc.

Helpful app. I used it for the first time this morning. It was great - a nice encouraging voice tells you when to start walking, when to start running - so it is like your personal trainer. I found it very helpful - on my way to be able to run 5 kms 🏃🏻‍♀️

Plays ads but gives you almost nothing. The fact this app will play ads BUT not do something as basic as give you the distance you run without having to upgrade to a monthly subscription is an absolute joke. If you’re going to push ads, than give people the basic functionality that is available with every other running app. Greedy short sighted devs = failed app.

Voice commands could be louder. I’ve returned to this app after a long break and it’s excellent for getting a slug like me moving. The incremental build up of endurance is excellent and it doesn’t shout commands at you all the time. That, in fact, is it’s only drawback. I listen to comedy podcasts via a podcast app and have this on in the background, yet I sometimes can’t hear the prompts clearly enough. I never used to have this problem, so either I’ve changed or the app has. I would still highly recommend it, however

Great app for the beginner runner. I wanted to run 5k and before I started I couldn’t run for the bus. I finished the program. My wife joined me. Now we run for 45minutes together 3 tines a week. Great app. Needs a little work to integrate better with the iPhone features. Has trouble alerting you when to switch modes between walking and running so you need to have the phone unlocked and app running all the time on the foreground. Maybe add a lock screen feature?

Didn’t hear it.. Hi. Please make sure to fix the app. It’s a good app but today I missed a couple of “begin running” or “begin walking”. When in the middle of running it’s hard to keep checking. I could just use my watch! Thanks.

C25K. Need a kick start back into running, found this app to be a great start for me to lose weight and regain some fitness so I can play sports again and play with my children.

Works really well. Love being able to choose my own playlist. So far this app works perfectly. I've tried several and this one works best for me.

Perfect for People That HATE Running. This app has helped me so much in training my body and my heart and has made me hate running less each time. I still dread running but this makes it easier and I appreciate it so much!

Tracks your location everywhere, even when not using. A good app to start running (I was using it again to come back from injury, after starting running with C25k almost 10 years ago). BUT it tracks your location all the time, not just when in a run. I was horrified when I got the iOS 13 pop up showing it had accessed my location everywhere for the last week.

Wont work on Apple Watch even with subscription. Been doing this program for the past 4 weeks and got myself an Apple Watch. Upon opening the app on the watch I found you have to subscribe to use on the watch. After subscribing and restarting and reinstalling etc still getting the exact same thing. Feeling like a ripoff right now.

Awesome app. After wrecking my motorcycle I doubted being able to run again but with this app it’s making me motivated enough to try and today finished with run so thanks

Just right. Great workout design. Gives enough time to recover before next run. Always looking forward to my next run.

Incredible! Highly recommend it to people looking to start living a more active life.. Absolutely wonderful app! C25K has made me love running! This app has pretty much reintroduced me to a healthy lifestyle after years of inactivity. Because of my newfound interest in running, I now take way better care of myself. Honestly life changing.

MIRACLE WORKER TURNED MY LIFE AROUND. THIS APP IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST APP I HAVE EVER USED FOR RUNNING. As someone who had no experience before and was struggling to run even 30 seconds without stopping, I am now at the 7 week mark of this app and can run 4.5km in 24 minutes. I was a couch potato as the app calls me out on, and quarantine had me at my worst health physically. Now I can run 24 whole minutes without stopping even once, and I started by not being able to run for 30 seconds. I have stopped using the app occasionally too, picking it up after weeks or months. Guilty of not using the schedule they gave me, I know. But man am I proud of myself. If you pull through and take one step at a time, knowing that you won’t quit through those 30 minutes. Run until your legs fall off. You will see change. You can plug in ur headphones too since the app lets you listen to music alongside the run. Thank you to the creators of this app. Truly amazing.

Paid for pro for no reason. Loved this app so paid for pro features only for them to decide to start charging monthly and took away all my pro features so I paid for nothing. Not very impressive.

Good app, too pushy. My review is based on how often this app pushes it’s paid version with popup ads, and it’s a lot. So much in fact that I have a permanent notification from this app on my Home Screen and it’s just the stupid paid version ad. I love the idea of this app and the progressions but it pushes it’s paid version too much and I am now on the hunt for a less aggressive app.

Too many ads. Too many ads. I just want to run. I hate that I have to pay more to find out my stats. It’s unfair. And because I haven’t upgraded I have all these ads that are distracting. I don’t want the fitness plan and I don’t want to purchase any music

Start of a journey. I used this app to start running a couple years ago and it changed my life. I have never been a runner. Even as a child I could not go far but this app helped me accomplish my goal of doing a charity run. Follow the training program and trust it. The run-walk approach works and the next thing you know you have become a RUNNER!

Great. This app has a great rhythm that really starts at the beginner level. When I started this app for the first time I had no stamina to speak of but even I could do the first workout. I only trained for 3 weeks before I did a 5k - granted I didn’t run the whole way I took walking breaks but I was so amazed and proud of that progress. 10/10 would recommend

This is good. I always thought I have to spend an hour each time doing cardio for a good workout this is nice and simple

Amazing app for beginners. This has everything you need to get started taking care of your health through fitness. It really does take you from zero to fit. The progression is slow and easy enough that no matter your fitness level you can make it work

Love this app!. I’ve been using this app for years and it’s fantastic. Love how easily it integrates with my play list - wish there was built in gps tracking instead of just timing.

Amazing. It gave me a great work

Annoying update. Latest update is full of ads where you can’t get rid of the notification bubble

Money Hungry. I paid for the Pro versions of ALL of the Zen Labs apps years ago, whatever bundles were available and whatever apps leftover, I bought.. and now they want me to start paying $4.95 a month to use the apps as Pro feature apps? Isn’t this what I already paid for when I purchased the PRO versions rather than the free ones? Why not refund me for every Pro app I have of yours if I could have just had the free ones and the same demand would have been made once the developers wanted more money. Don’t pull that with people who’ve already paid for your apps and expect them to be happy about it once you introduce your subscription versions. I went from having a great opinion of Zen Labs to having a terrible one.

Repeated crashing. Newest update won’t load. Restarted phone. Deleted and reinstalled app. Twice. Nothing.

The App WAS amazing. Lately the app is glitching like crazy. Can’t even finish a workout with it resetting itself. Not sure what has happened but it went from amazing to now looking for anything else to use. Too bad really.

Love this app. Love this app! I had never ran a day in my life since childhood. I couldn’t run for more than 60 seconds at a time when I started and by the end of it I was running 5k easily, I even started pushing myself further once I was done to program to 6 and 7k. Very user friendly, no glitches, nothing but good things to say!

Poorest performing app I’ve ever used. It takes nearly one minute to load. When I tap on functions, especially anything to do with music, it doesn’t open. Also, I see no reason why it should say it works better if it can track my location even when I’m not using the app. Once I complete the 5k program, I’M OUT!

Amazing!!. I have used the c25k app before and now using this couch to 10K is fantastic! Is is super user friendly, and paces you so well. For me it takes any guess work out of training to run (the type of cardio I hate the most but like to challenge myself to) and the best is how cool it is to see yourself progress along with the app each week. I have recommended the zen labs fitness apps to so many of my friends, sisters and colleagues because they are free, motivating and super easy. Because of this app, my 3 sisters and I are all training to run a 10K in a few months! I am petrified but know that I am on a plan with this program. Thanks zen labs!!

Terrible map feature. The overall program’s great but the map is horrendous. I’ve gone into the settings to make sure that the location is always on and that data is on and it just doesn’t capture where I’ve run at all.

Too basic for the price.. Too expensive for the offered functionality

Great App.. I suffer with depression and found I don’t have the motivation to get up an exercise. This app starts you off small giving you small targets to work towards. It has allowed me to get my life back on track by going for evening runs and slowly building my stamina and confidence. Highly recommended!

Great!!. I thought I was awesome because I did it with my mother. I rated it 4 stars because it’s a great app, I think it’s great!!

Used to be a good app. I've used this app a couple times to try to get to 5 k. This current version is terrible. It's reset on me a couple times during a run, the menus are terrible to navigate unless you've struggled through them.

Excellent app. I started using this app after i broke my leg and started healing. So i was in a very rough shape and i could barely run. Thanks to this app i am now able to run again! It’s absolutely fantastic!! I finished the 5k training app being able to run 6k. Highly recommend!!

Amazing Beginner Running App!. You can literally go from being a complete couch potato to running 5k...but it starts you off slowly and in sets of walking and then running. After your first day you'll be breathing heavy and sweating, but it's completely manageable! Every day after they slowly decrease the amount of time you're walking so it's not even really noticeable. I love that i can listen to my play list and when i'm supposed to walk or run they chime in with a bell and tell me what to do. Thank God they even tell you when your halfway or almost done. Get this app and get off the couch!!

Free version does the trick. I tried a couple other apps, and they basically pay wall the app, making it useless. This one doesn’t so I’ll keep using this one

Today I did it!. I wound up running 6K today. I have never run 5K without stopping before, even at my peak fitness in high school. When getting started, you may find the first few weeks easy enough that you skip rest days. DO NOT DO THIS. I made that mistake early on and it set me back a bit. Take this time to focus on your technique and get your body used to running. It will pay off! Around week three, I invested in some nicer running shoes. If your financially able, I recommend this. The shoes + rest days + focus on technique will do wonders for you especially if you get horrible shin splints like I do. Thank you C25K, worth every penny :)

So much nagging. I have a paid version of the app but I still am constantly nagged by additional upsells, pop-ups, notifications, and other clutter that gets in my way when I just want to go for a run. This app is terrible and I would recommend anyone considering it look elsewhere. I’d assumed that getting the paid version would stop this but it does not. Awful, awful, awful.

Worthy and well appreciated app. I’m not fan of running, I tried a 5k prep last year and after slowly alternating increasing days of 3k, 4k and 5k I didn’t enjoy and quit. This year I started again with a different approach and after the 1st day of straight 5 min I was struggling; at that point I decided to try C25k, looked like ridiculous starting with 1:30 minutes intervals, well, now on my 6th week I’ve managed to run 20 minutes straight, I feel confident. Definitely starting slowly and increasing slowly builds confidence and stamina, I live the focus on running your time no matter the distance, this allows for running at a pace you enjoy. No doubt I’ll continue with the 10k, that’s why I decided to go for the One Pass. As improvements I’d like a user manual, specially including the integration of smart watch and phone, a forum full of questions and not always clear answers is not the best tool and is hard to find what you need. Would be also great to be able to download the Zenplaylist for stand-alone use with Apple Watch. This app helped me to start and enjoy the journey towards a better health.

Incredible. Ito anyone trying to get into run. And this is coming from someome who could not run for 2 mins straight. I still can’t believe i can run 5k in 30 mins now. This app has changed my life. 100 stars

Location service. It would be five stars if the app didn’t constantly ask to know my location all the time. Shouldn’t it only require location services while it’s active?

Awesome app. I love this app! Keeps me motivated and makes me succeed my goals! Love love love it!

Access to more stats. Great app but I think that SOME stats of your run (average pace, distance at a bare minimum) should be included for free without having to upgrade. Other apps include these for free!

Makes pay subscription. Makes pay subscription for using on Apple Watch

Shady privacy practices. Shady privacy practices, false claims about “opt out” and dark UI patterns. Tried to trick you into consent and even the back button on the consent setting is disabled. YUCK. No thanks. Deleted within 5 min of downloading.

Best. Best app for c25k. I like how it details you the intervals beforehand and let's you know the halfway and 1 minute left mark.

Apple Watch not-comparable. This app does not work on Apple Watch. Very disappointing

Couch potato to 5k. I love this app. It works if don’t have a injury that stops you. Thank you.

The app becomes unuseable after 7 days.. Unable to use the app after 7 days. Even the ability to willingly pay is impossible. The only thing useable in this app after 7 days is a screen selling someone on a subscription that can’t be purchased. Garbage.

Easy and effective. Takes the thinking out of training. I let the program tell me when to run and when to walk. As I get stronger (or if I’m having a bad day), I can go forwards or backwards on the training schedule, or I can just adjust how hard I run while keeping the timings the same. Simple to use. Helps keep me motivated.

Half way through and loving it!. Just like the title says, I'm on week 4 and really enjoying it so far. The progression is steady and well paced, I feel capable of the new weeks workout by the end of the previous. I really like the way the app is set up, and how there are both audio and visual cues for when to change speed. I can't really give it 5 stars until I finish but I'm happy so far.

Great FREE app for weight loss and beginner jogger. My goal is to lose weight, and I want to do a walk/run combo to get my heart rate pumping but not hurt my knees. I love how this app speaks to you over your music when to walk and when to run. And best of all it’s free!!!

I’m not a runner but.... Slow but steady really does win the race. It worked me up from 0 running experience to being able to jog for 30 minutes straight, and this is coming from a pretty hefty girl. If you’re willing to be patient with yourself, it’s well worth the time investment.

Fails to track steps 1/3 of the time. On four of my six runs so far, the app tracked the number of steps and the distance. On the other two it didn’t. There was no error message or warning displayed, it just marked down 0 steps and 0 distance. Phone was unlocked the whole time, app was in the foreground, all permissions granted except third party ad tracking. Contacted support, they tried to get me to enable third party ad tracking. So even if you pay for the subscription, they’ll still try to trick you into giving up your privacy. Greedy, dishonest behaviour.

Best all in one app ever !. I’ve been looking fo an app that’s all in one and this is it ! What an amazing app would definitely recommend it 👏

First time in and hit with two splash screens requiring payment. One of which “not available in my area “. Turn these off. WTH???

Only one problem .... I really enjoy using this app. I want to run more but I lack the motivation to keep going if there's no one telling me not to stop, and this app has given me a free running partner. My only complaint is that more than once I have unlocked my phone to see how much longer I have to go only to have the app reset and tell me I'm starting my warmup. This is really frustrating when I'm 20+ minutes in! Please fix this issue C25K!

Charged me for a subscription without my consent. I loved this app for my summer training but then it billed me for a monthly subscription that I did not authorize. I hadn’t used the app in a few months and had never purchased a subscription so imagine my surprise when I saw it was billing me for a monthly subscription. Completely lost my trust and will not use this app again.

Version gratuite rendue nulle.

Do it. After weeks of horrible sleep and anxiety that was uncontrolled I decided to try exercising. I always had wanted to run, but figured I had missed that train a long time ago. At the age of 37 I said screw it, downloaded the app and got my large behind out of bed early one Sunday morning last August (2017). I haven’t looked back since. Ran my first 5K in November (and won 1st in my age group!), and can now run 4 Miles no problem. That may not sound like much, but considering I couldn’t even jog for one minute before starting C25k I’ve made huge strides. Just try this app, I can say with confidence that it changed my life.

Thankful and proud. I'm not athletic or coordinated, but wanted to do something to get some exercise. I haven't even attempted to run at all since the obligatory 1 mile run in middle school (over 30 yrs ago). A few friends recommended this program. This app was perfect. It was a great pace, although at times I thought I'd give up. I didn't give up and I just got back from the final 5K run. I am so thankful for this app and feeling proud of this accomplishment. I signed up for an official 5K in 2 weeks. I would definitely recommend this app, even to people who are not athletic. You will be glad you did this. Thank you to the people who made this app.

It. Freaking. Works.. Ok so I waited until I completed the program to write a true and honest review. Verdict...it works! I couldn’t run 30 seconds before starting and a couple days ago ran my first 5k! And didn’t stop there, I ran 4 miles with no stopping! I truly thought there would be weeks that I would have to repeat but that never happened. I completely each and every workout. Was it easy? Ha! Nooo. But it was attainable. It’s amazing what your body can do when you never thought it could. The creators of this program truly know what they were doing when they made it. 10K training starts tomorrow! And I’m looking forward to each and every workout yet again🤪

Here's to the app that will finally make me a runner. This isn’t the first time I’m using this app. I used it 5 years ago and successfully completed the program. But then fell off the wagon. Tried to pick it up several times over the past few years but got cowed by my fear of running. I have recently made getting fit and building cardiovascular endurance a priority in my life. I’m thrilled to have just completed week 2 of the program. And looking forward to finally becoming a runner for life! The program breaks down running into small chunks that aren’t intimidating, and that one can easily keep up with. Thank you C25K!

I don't know if this is just me, but.... I've been having a lot of trouble with this app recently. It started out fine. Kind of easy. But all of a sudden I can't even get through half of the workout without my legs being on fire and I ended up injuring myself. It would be great if there was a way to progress slower, especially since I haven't been able to run for a while because of my injury. Also, running 8 minutes with a break to 20 minutes with no break and then back to 8 minutes? I'm really confused. I can't even get past 8, much less 20. I'm honestly about to give up since I feel so hopeless, and all of these success comments are making me feel lazy.

Great for beginners. So far I really like the plan. I’m 30 years old and have not run competitively or regularly since high school. Now that I’m no longer working toward academic pursuits or other competitive-edge tasks, I wanted to set a new goal for myself, so I signed up for a 5k. I downloaded a few apps, but this one seemed the best as far as goals and overall program. So far I’m enjoying the progress I have been making. Each run has been markedly improved — little by little, but noticeable improvements nevertheless. If you get the free version of C25K, I suggest running an app such as Map My Hike to track your distance and pace.

Consistency is key. For best results, get your mind, running form, nutrition and water intake right. You must stay consistent. I used to start then fall off for a few weeks, then start up again, quit never making it to the end etc. It wasn’t until I followed this app consistently (and sometimes even ran more than 3x a week just from loving the momentum) that I saw results. I now run way past what used to be my half way checkpoint, all progress made in a summer. This is coming from someone who hated running, I thought it was so dumb. I didn’t even run for the bus. Stay with it, learn your body, tell yourself you feel amazing/it’s easy and trust the app! This really works. Very grateful for C25K!

Literally from couch to 5k!!. I hated running. To get back in shape, I started C25K. The first day of running for 30 seconds was exhausting! I would take breaks for the first week and found running for 30 seconds so hard. Today I ran my first 5k for 30 minutes without stopping even for a single second!!! I couldn’t have done it without the app!! Yes, u have repeated few days, but there are also some days, I have skipped to the next week as my endurance built. Made my playlist of upbeat dance and fun songs. Listening to the songs helped especially when I had to push myself. Thank you C25K. I have recommended this app to everyone!!

Absolutely Obsessed with Running NOW!. I’ve never considered myself a “runner”. I’m a lifter, always have been very strong but no cardio endurance. I’ve thought I wanted to become a runner serval times in my adult life, but every time I try, I fail! Well, I’m on my third week of this app, loving every minute of it, that I s even run twice in a day, and every increase in time I freak out that I won’t be able to do it! Not only can I do it, but I have to go back to the app to make sure that it increased to the right amount because I’ve been able to do it without a problem! THIS IS HIGE FOR ME!! Finally, at 38, I’ve realized that anyone can be a “runner” who wants to!! Nothing else like this!! Do it!!!!!

Absolutely amazing!!!. I love running. It’s my favorite thing to do and a workout I don’t dread. Helps clear my mind and focus. This app helped me easy into it without injury. Without the app I would get knee pains that would last for days. Now I don’t. I just follow what is says and I’m not afraid to repeat a day if I feel I need to work out it more before moving on. I didn’t think I could run a whole 20 minutes. I keep repeating the day before and was so nervous. Then I was like if it doesn’t work out I’ll walk at some point. Omg I ran the whole time. I was so proud and emotional telling my husband. I’m almost done and I can’t wait to move on the the next one!!!

I made it. I made it, thanks to this app! I’m not a runner ... in fact I used to dislike it a lot. But my gut wasn’t getting any smaller with the amount of walking I was doing, so I downloaded the app based on a friend’s recommendation. I love how it starts small - meets you where you are. I wasn’t actually a couch potato, but I never thought I’d be able to run for 30 minutes straight. After a few months of training, I did it! And I’ve done it 3 times a week since then, so it makes it easy to stay consistent. I have the app running EVERY time I run ... I like the voice telling me I’m halfway and that I have 1 minute left. I’ve been recommending this to friends left and right. Thanks for a great app! ❤️

Great app 👍🏼. As someone who has always hated running, this app has really helped. I’m only two weeks in but I am really enjoying it. I like that it gives me notifications on when to start running, start walking so that I am sure I am getting the most out of each run. In the past I would just run until I felt tired then walk with no set time on when to start running again. For a free app this has really helped motivate me to keep up with the program and reach my eventual goal. Would definitely recommend to anyone who like me has had mixed experience with running in the past and likes a more organized plan.

10 years and 80 pounds ago. I was a runner 10 years ago and stopped running when my daughter was born and over those 10 years I gained 80 pounds and hit the age of 50. My daughter gets involved with Girls on the run. (Great organization) and all of a sudden my daughter needs an adult running buddy for a 5K in 90 days. Started researching and this looked to be the best app out there for Couch to 5K. Just finished week 2 and am feeling really good about being ready for this race. Wasn’t that confident two weeks ago. If I can get my overweight out of shape body ready for a 5K anyone can and I highly recommend this app for getting you there.

A few things that I find annoying.. Overall this is a good app. In the past I would have tried running as far as I can and increase the distance. Well I am no spring chicken anymore, so that was not going to work. As of today I am in Wk 6 day 2 the below things happen on all weeks expect week 2. The annoying things: 1. At the half way point it announces “you are half way”. Which is fine, but it does it twice, sometimes a few steps after the first announcement other times it can be 20 feet. 2. Same as above but when it announces “1 minute left”. 3. I wear a Garmin vivofit plus when I run. When I start the C25K and the Garmin, at the end of the run the times never match. I am not talking about 1 or 2 seconds. It’s more like 30 seconds. I’ve started the C25K and let it go for about 25 seconds and then start Garmin. Times still do not match, it will be closer. Considering the above issues I would believe it’s the app. 4. It would be nice to review the run, but in the free version I guess you cannot. Would I recommend this app, yes.

Great no frills for beginner; can upgrade. I have done distance running before... but I’m out of shape and older, with arthritis in my knee! When I was marathon training, I had a Garmin that I programmed to give me training intervals. It tracked all my workouts, speed, heart rate, distance, etc. I don’t need all that now! I just need something simple on my phone that guides me through easy workouts to get from couch to a 5k. Perfect. My iphone ends up tracking my distance under “Health”, which the free app doesn’t do. But for a simple basic free app that gives me verbal prompts while I’m listening to my favorite music, this is just great.

Wanted to like this app, but.... I had high hopes for this app based on all the positive reviews, but it falls short in several important areas. First of all, it doesn’t tell you your distance unless you upgrade and pay them $4.99 a month. This seems like a pretty basic and important feature and many similar apps include distance without asking you to cough up the extra dough. Secondly, if you’re listening to music you’ll miss some of the voice prompts. There doesn’t seem to be a way to reduce the music volume during prompts, as your phone’s volume control raises or lowers both. It’s annoying. Next, once you close out your daily workout there is no way to go back to that day and see the map. It’s gone forever. Maybe you have to pay extra for this feature, but again, several other apps include this without making you pay. They make you pay to see your “stats”. I assume this is your distance, pace, etc but as I’ve mentioned before there are other similar apps that provide this information in their basic, ad-supported platform at no additional cost. Bottom line is this is a very, very basic app with little to no information provided unless you sign up for a monthly subscription. I can’t recommend this one at all.

Never thought I could. “I am not a runner.” Those were my words to a friend who encouraged me to train (she led a huge group of us three nights a week out of the goodness of her heart, and love for running) thru C25k ... six years ago. Guess what. It worked! At the end of the program I ran my first 5k! Now, about the app. I love this app. Life happened and I got out of running. I’m picking it up again and this app is my personal trainer. I can’t imagine learning to run again without it. Baby steps .. just tell me when to run, when to walk, “halfway point”, and “begin cool down”. Love those words. ANYONE can train for a 5k with this app. Just stay consistent. If I can, you can.

Such an amazing tool!. First of all, this app is perfect! It helps pace you so it’s not too tough in the beginning and you’re able to stick with it. This app has helped me in so many ways. I have been overweight for so long. To go from barely able to walk 5 minutes to now being able to run for 10. I’m only half way through the training and I still have so much to learn and gain. In addition to better cardio health, the weight I’ve lost with this app is exciting, to say the least. My clothes are fitting better! I am using this app to train to run 2 miles in 20 minutes. I’m confident I will meet that goal! Thanks in advance C25K!

First running success!!. I’ve tried to take up running many times, but it never stuck. I just completed week four and now I look forward to running almost every morning. My problem in the past was that I always got winded straight away, this made running miserable. This app has you take enough walking breaks that I am never panting and I am able to enjoy my run. I love seeing the progress I have made over the last month! I highly recommend watching action movies while running to keep you motivated. (Black Panther is on Netflix rn!) Right now, I have to run in a treadmill indoors because it is extremely cold outside, but I’m looking forward to getting outside when the temp gets above freezing.

Use for Spartan. I love all of the various distance apps! I am a consistent weightlifting and functional athlete, so running is obviously not my favorite lol. I love running OCRs, so I use each program based on my race distance to train. They help me prepare for mileage in my legs, but also help me with increasing speed and endurance. I don’t plan to stop using them anytime soon. They are simple, tell when and what to do, so you can focus on your run. It allows you to play your own music, their playlist, or go without. Works well with my watch if I don’t want to bring my phone too!

Ads more annoying than other apps. I’m cheap, so I’m used to having ads in my apps. But when 2 long animated ads pop up on top of each other with the hidden X so you really have to look at it, it’s annoying. Anyway the program itself is pretty good. I’m an experienced runner but I took a few years off due to injury and this is a great way to get back into it. No frills, just a nice clear timer to tell you what to do, and I like that the entire thing is planned out for you so you just click the next workout & get started. It also syncs with Apple Music so you can have your music play thru their app if you want (I just started it separately thru Apple’s app & the music volume automatically decreases when the voice guidance comes up).

Sets you up for success so they only thing that stands in your way is yourself!. Oh, man. I’ve used this for a while, but this morning after my run, I had to give props. I paused during the walking part to take a picture of the scenery, and went to close my camera app but closed this instead! Normally, when you close and re-open an app, you have to start your progress over. Not C25K!!! It told me there was a workout in progress, and that I could either continue or start over. TG I could continue, I had 8 mins left of the workout! Love that C25K sets realistic goals, so that you’re not intimidated or give into the excuses you give yourself.

Great app!. Like a lot of others i never ran or jogged since middle and high school and even then I’d stop to walk. I have been eating better and have energy and felt like running. I found this one to try. I do this at least 5 days a week, and although i still can’t run 5 minutes straight, without my heart rate getting too high for me, I repeat week 1 & 2 but increase my speed so it’s challenging. Which ever, i do 2 miles in the 30 minutes. I do what works for me, listening to my body and slowly hopefully i will be able to run it straight through in time. This 43 year old gal has a new habit in the morning now! Thanks!

New version worse than original. The running program, instructions, and sound cues are all great and very motivational. My huge issue with this app is that once you complete a run you can’t ever go back and view your distance, see a map of where you ran, view your times etc. unless you purchase the pro($$) version. This is incredibly frustrating, it makes it nearly impossible to track your progress aka your progression to actually running an entire 5k distance. You could be running your allotted 30 minutes but only go 2 miles, you’ll never know because you can’t see previous maps/distance. If you want an app that gets you jogging for 30 minutes and don’t care how far you go this is perfect, if you’re prepping for a real 5k look elsewhere.

Great for training, but not with music. I do love this app! It has helped me to finally start working out. I do love to listen to my music when I work out and when I started it was perfect. I updated the app a couple weeks ago and Since then, I’ve been having trouble listening to my music. I try to listen to it and it will not let me control the music with the app and when I finally get my music to start playing, it will pause my music as it is starting a new song and I have to manually get it to start playing again. I know that it is not my music app v. my phone because it works fine when I close out he app. I really do love using the app, but I would like the music part to be fixed, please.

Massive Jump in Weeks 4-5. In Week 4 you’re introduced to 8 minute jog times - up from 5 and 3 minute jogs. Then you go straight to a 20 minute jog the beginning of Week 5 with no walking in between. I’m about 20lbs overweight, have zero cardio endurance, and I have asthma. I have a very slow jog pace. That’s waayyy too big of a jump for me. Where are the 10 and 15 minute jog times? Oh, they come after you’ve forced yourself to repeat the 20 minute jog session several times because you couldn’t get through it without walking the first few times. It’s a good app overall but Week 4-5 seem out of place. If you struggle with running, you will need to add additional weeks of training because you’ll wind up having to redo training sessions.

Seriously, it works!. I have HATED running, I was part of the culture cheering on those who ran while I never intended to. I never understood the running culture. Then I was referred to by a friend that said it worked and of course, I didn’t want to but I tried it anyway. I didn’t keep up with it easily, but once I finally broke down and followed it, I loved it. I never thought I would be able to run for 2 minutes, let alone 3, and now 5!! It’s incredible! I have had to repeat some days but that’s the beauty of it, you get to go at entirely your own pace, it doesn’t just continue on directing you to run longer when you can’t. I absolutely love it and it’s FREE!!

I was planning to write “You are a liar”. This is my Week 5 and according to your plan I need to run 20 minutes without a break. It was a joke, it should have been a joke. Even after running 10 minutes, I had a plan to write a review that you are a liar. Last 10 years, I did not run more than 200 yards without stopping. I can not believe myself I run 20 minutes without stopping. If I can do, I believe at least 6 billion people can do it. It is an incredible program. I strongly recommend it to everybody. It is not a joke and you are not a liar. You did an amazing job. Thank you, thank you thank you

Thanks so much!!!. I have always been jealous of people that can jog longer than two or three minutes without stopping or looking exhausted. I can walk all day long and enjoy swimming as my main choice for exercising. I am super excited to say that I have just conquered what I used to be envious of and am now jogging with out complete exhaustion and enjoying every minute of it!!! I cannot wait to look back on this review one day and praise myself for completing a triathlon that I thought was never possible!!!! Thank you so much for designing this app that has encouraged me to get off of my couch and running with pure joy and gratitude!!!!!

Great except for poor ad design. I’m not complaining that the app has ads, I understand why that’s necessary; however, the way the ads are designed is very frustrating. 1. Ads come up and the x button to close it is nearly impossible to click. I try to click it and another ad screen pops up. I try to close that and it takes me outside of the app to the ad page. 2. The ad banner shows at the bottom of the screen where the main navigation usually is. This throws me off as I am expecting the main navigation to be there. Main navigation should be consistent all the time.

Great App but the ads are annoying AF. Updated review: I started over recently and still had the free version. This is the WORST app when it comes to ads. I decided to upgrade bc I was so annoyed. The coaching is fine; nothing special. It would be nice if they had some words of encouragement throughout. However the app itself is clunky. It's very difficult to navigate and doesn't offer much in enhancements. That being said I haven't found a better app so for now I'll continuing using this one. I've done 2 runs so far and it seems like a great app. HOWEVER their push to make you upgrade to the pay version is annoying AF. I may want to upgrade but I wanted to try the free version first but the amount of ads and attempts to upswell are making me seek out other apps.

Great program for this 50 year old 1st time runner!. The C25K program has worked for me. At the end of the first session, I couldn’t believe I’d ever be able to run 22 plus minutes straight but I just did! I experienced some frustration with missed cues from the app (or was it my phone or ear buds?) but overall it has worked very well. As a 50 year old with a history of knee issues, I did have to consult my chiropractor and take a full week off to rest my knee and work a set of physical therapy exercises before jumping back in the program. For folks experiencing joint pain with the program I recommend: 1) seeing a physical therapist and doing the exercises you are given 2) investing in the right shoes for you and 3) taking time to heal if you develop any persistent pain.

Just what I needed!. Was an athlete in HS but now in my mid-30s and haven't run in a decade. Was scared to get started but got the much needed push from a friend. This is a great way to gradually get back in shape, shed lbs, boost confidence, and get in shape! For those out of practice, I suggest finding a track instead of sidewalks/streets. My knees ached for the first 3 weeks. The pace is reasonable. I haven't repeated any weeks but it's nice to know that it's an option. I'm doing the program with a friend and it has helped me stay committed and consistent. The inspirational quotes before each day are a nice touch too. Now headed into week 7 and I'm running over 2mi straight!! Can hardly believe it. I'm so proud of me! Definitely doing the 10k program when I wrap this up.

Works well to ease in!. This app has been working great for me. Easing into running is the way to go for someone like me who tends to over do my workouts when getting back into exercising. This has helped me to stick with it and follow through. Believe it or not, I’m actually enjoying my runs and looking forward to them now! My only issue is when the app glitches and doesn’t notify me when to start running/walking, causing the intervals to be off. It hasn’t happened too often, but I have found if I don’t have the app open when I put my phone on hold, or if I unlock my phone during the workout session, it’s more likely to glitch.

Postpartum. I had a baby a little over 3 months ago and after trying to ease back into running without a plan, I noticed some nagging hip pain. So I started doing some physical therapy and am again attempting to get back into running. This plan has been doable for me and my physical therapist approves. This app is giving me the structure I need to start running regularly again and not injure myself. I’m planning on running a half marathon in 7 months and looking forward to seeing how these programs build up over longer distances. For reference, I was an avid runner ore-pregnancy and have run several half marathons, but I couldn’t run while pregnant for medical reasons. It feels great to be back at it!

Trying!. I’ve been wanting to do couch to 5K for a long time. I did my first one this morning. I’m almost 56 and I’ve gotten very out of shape. I’m ready to get it back. I know running has helped me in the past, but it just hasn’t been motivating. I do other classes and some weight training. However, I knew I needed to add this in. My body just responds really well to running. I was impressed with the app from the get-go. I like the fact that it tells me when to stop and start. I like that it tells me how much more time I have to go. I love the tracking and I like the fact that it links with MyFitnessPal. I just hope I can keep it up in the winter weather!

Great for beginners. I had never run as an adult but started using this app and was amazed to find that I could follow it without any soreness. I found it was easy to find just three days in the week to exercise 30 minutes and by spacing my exercise I didn’t have any injuries. I did find that the last few weeks felt as though there was a bit of a jump in activity but I managed that by repeating a few of those weeks. Although my objective was simply to exercise I actually ran my first 5K the summer I started using the app and continued by running three more in the fall including one on my 65th Birthday. I’m currently discovering how useful the app is to get myself started up again this summer. Thanks for helping me stay in shape!

Pop up nightmare. There’s a good app hidden in here someplace. But it is buried under 1000 pop-ups, offers, community highlights, and so forth. And it’s slow to respond, so those things all take several seconds and several frustrated tabs to dismiss. Also, even when you are subscribed, the watch app does not sync correctly with the phone app, even though it will mirror notifications from the phone app. Unexpected and bizarre behavior. If somehow someone could get a hold of this and cut away all of the nonsense, and fix the watch sink, the basic functionality is perfect: it tells you when to run, it tells you went to walk, it keeps track of your distance and path (usually). That’s all I want. I’d pay a little bit for that. But as it is, I’m canceling my subscription.

Just starting. I am NOT a runner. I hate running. But with this app, I just completed my first 30 min run/walk! Seriously, if I can do it, anyone can. Now to see if I can keep it up... Update: I just finished week 3, and I'm still going strong. Even though I still don't love running, I do love that I now know I *can* run. I can run for 3 straight minutes now, which I know is nothing to seasoned runners, but is a big deal to me. My next run includes 5 straight minutes. I am both dreading it, and curious. Not about if I can do it, but how many runs it will take to achieve. This program is great for non-runners who want to get healthier, but need a slow and steady program to get them going.

iPhone and Watch apps don’t work together. I downloaded the most recent update earlier this week and then used the Apple Watch app so I could leave my phone at home. Now I notice the phone app thinks I didn’t do the workout I did with the Watch app. Apparently, the iPhone and Watch apps don’t work together. Also, the Watch app doesn’t have access to the playlists in the iPhone app. In addition, the iPhone C25K app’s calorie could is always higher than what the iPhone Workout app actually records, so I think the phone app doesn’t differentiate between active and total calories. Also, neither the C25K watch or phone app tap into heart rate data on their app displays. In short, they integrate poorly with iPhone’s Workout app. Peloton, on the other hand, gets all that right every time.

Helped me have better discipline with running.... For a long time, I have really struggled with running but wanted to run better. This app really helped me to start running bit by bit and helped me get closer to running longer distances. The whole system is pretty nice to work with and is overall such a good app and I would totally recommend it to anyone that wants to start running or has been running. This can adapt to your situation at whatever skill level you are at. Its a wonderful app and I have really enjoyed using it over that past couple of years.

Great free app. Easy 5 star review because it is one of the few truly free apps out there. Sure, there’s some upgrades in paid mode, but this isn’t an app that calls itself free and then you download it, only to find out you have to pay to do anything at all. I hate running. But this made it something doable for me. It is very balanced and the growth is reasonable, for the most part. I will say that you may need to (and probably should) repeat a few workouts, and that is fine - progress is not the same for everyone. But in week 5 it jumps from like 8 min jogs to 20 minutes straight and then goes back down to 10; that’s a BIG jump. So I did it my own way, doing 8, then 10, then working up to 20 vs the order in the app. The “help forum” on the app also should just be deleted as it is 99% unfiltered junk spam posts (weight loss pills, etc). But again, fantastic app. Have told several people about it. Using it a second time.

Not really for couch potatoes.... The first 3 weeks were great, just the right amount of a challenge, but starting with week 4 and then especially with week 5 there are HUGE jumps. I am currently at week 4 and I actually thought about quitting after week 4, day 1. But I'm thinking either I'll go back and do week 3 again, or try week 4 at the gym on the nice, flat, indoor, air-conditioned track. I wish I could enjoy running outside in my neighborhood, but coming from being a true couch potato, with even a slightly hilly neighborhood, I'm finding it's just not possible as I get further into this app. I think this app would be great for a person who is in somewhat decent shape already. But for me, as a 42-year-old woman who is about 10-15 pounds overweight and hasn't exercised in years, I'm finding the increases between weeks to be a bit too much.

Great app but allow more than 8 weeks for a true couch to 5k. Just ran my first 5k this weekend after training using this app for the past 10 weeks. It's a great app to build up to running the distance but if you are older and not as fit, as I am, you will likely need to extend your training to complete the program. Towards the end of the training program, the time to complete the distance is unrealistic for someone who's never run before. To compensate for this, I extended the run times to meet the distance at my slower pace (13 min mile), then repeated weeks 7/8 during weeks 9/10 until I got to 3.1 miles at my pace. I would still recommend this app for anyone wanting to complete a 5k without walking as it does work to build your endurance in a structured way.

Don’t do the latest upgrade!. I have been using C25K again for about 5 weeks and haven’t had any issues except for a notification that won’t go away no matter how many times I look at the ad. However, I did the latest bug fix upgrade this morning and now during my workout ads keep popping up and stopping my music and either stopping or restarting the workout! I completely lost track of the time I was supposed to be running because the ads kept making it start over. I always make sure to lock my phone because otherwise it’s trying to upgrade me to premium if I accidentally touch the upgrade button but these ads cause my phone to unlock. Please fix these issues C25K!

Pretty much the OG. The original C25K program - from when the earth was cooling and the internet was young - had its flaws but is generally solid. This is about as close as I can find to it. Even as my brittle bones are aging and my grey hair blows in the wind, I keep coming back to this version. I might pick up in week 4 - or wherever my capabilities allow - but the gradual nature works well for me. True “couch” runners may need to repeat a week here or there. Don’t sweat it, being a runner is more of a relentlessness of putting one foot in front of the other, more than any checklist from a program. Go and run.

Easy to use. UPDATE: It might be that I switched to audiobooks rather than music, but I can now hear the ding & the voice telling me to switch walking/running. Obviously, I started over because I got lazy, but I still enjoy the ease of use and how it times, spaces, and prompts you. Very good App for those looking to start running. This app is really easy to use, and I do like it, I just wish that when it interrupted my music/audiobook that it was louder. I sometimes have to check to make sure it's telling me to change my pace and I'm not just getting a random notification. But otherwise it's great

Great app, recommended. Do strength training, too.. Great app for guiding you through the couch to 5k program. I’d recommend this for people looking to get into shape. It’s amazing how quickly you get in shape and how *great* you’ll feel! I also recommend some sort of strength training to go with this. A good place to look for this is the “None to Run” program (do a web search). Also, don’t be afraid to repeat days or weeks as you feel you need to. Just keep at it! It took me two weeks to finally get through week six. I also had to repeat some days from weeks four and five. Just keep pushing onward, and you’ll get through it.

Even works if you’re over 50!. I have been an on-again off-again runner for years, and faced the daunting task of trying to start running again at 54, after quitting last spring because my times were lousy and I felt constant fatigue. I thought maybe that would be a permanent feature brought on by aging, but I tried the app and not only did I make it all the way through, but my pace has improved significantly! I wish I’d thought of C25K sooner, as the app proved to be a much better coach than I ever have been toward myself. I’m running a 5k this weekend, then on to the 10K app, just 8 weeks after starting! Thanks!

Seems Good But..... I had the free version and clicked on PRO from the opened free version app, paid the $5.29 after tax, and it opened up all 8-weeks but didn’t give me the PRO version, ie PRO doesn’t appear on the app, and because of this, I can’t use the Apple Watch feature. Kind of pointless this way. And the work PRO appears again in the app stating I can buy the PRO version again. So I don’t know what I paid for, but I’m not happy. I already sent them an email, and if I don’t get a solid response, I’ll dispute it with Apple. I’m hoping they’ll refund my money so I can just purchase the PRO version directly from the App Store rather than trying to upgrade the free version. Win win then. They’ll get their money and I’ll be happy. I’ll update the review after I hear from support. UPDATE: They reached out to me stating purchasing from the in-app upgrade would give me all the features of PRO. Well, it didn’t, and I explained all the following in my initial email. They chose to ignore my concern. All it did was unlock the 8 weeks. Still have annoying ads, it tells me to upgrade to PRO, and it’s just a pain that this is how it works. I guess they got their money, so who cares that it didn’t work correctly. Apple was gracious enough to give me my money back for the headache. Horrible customer service with this app!!!!!
