Your Babbel Team
I like how this app calls you out on your BS when you screw up with pronunciations, and I like the speed at which it moves along. But that speed also calls for repeating sometimes, more than the program calls for. So to immediately review, I have to go to the beginning of that lesson and do the whole section. A minor irritation.
I absolutely love this app, this is the best language learning software I've ever used before. I might even use Babbel to learn other languages I'm interested in as well.
It's great to be able to go directly to lessons on the topics I'm learning in school. My only, yet large complaint is you can't replay the phrases spoken. It is very helpful to hear it over and over. Give us that function and I'd give this 5 stars.
On the phone keyboard I have to constantly switch to the punctuation and then back. I make a lot of stupid goofy typing mistakes that slow me down. I wish I could tell Babbel that I don't want to type so much. Pronunciation is very helpful but I spend more time typing. I need to SPEAK French, not type it on my phone.
It's difficult and frustrating. I'm not understanding anything after 3 months. I have many French apps and this is my least favorite.
In the past I had purchased, and completed, the Rosetta Stone French course. It was useful but Babbel is far superior. In particular it is very helpful in its detailed explanation of the meaning and usage of the many words and expression, whereas Rosetta is a pictures-only tool. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to self study a language.
I've only taken 2 years of French in high school and i was very interested in it. I wanted to start learning it again but did not want to take a college course. My boyfriend introduced me to this app and I fell in love. It's actually pretty fun and I'm learning a lot. I did buy the monthly package but it is worth the money if you are really wanted it use the app often. I try to us the app at least 15 - 30 minutes a day.
I have been learning French on my own for about 4 years. I have used many apps and programs, blogs, you tube channels and books. Some are free, some expensive, some good and some poor. Overall, Babbel has helped me the most. It has a good mix of practicality and grammar that has made me more comfortable in conversation. I like best that it does not oversimplify and does not condescend while explaining difficult points of grammar. It is not free, but the price is reasonable and much less than many other comparable programs. I am so happy I tried Babbel after having been disappointed many times by similar apps.
As a compete beginner for French, Babbel makes an excellent complementary learning tool that I can use in spare times such as coffee breaks.
I have been enjoying learning French with Babble. The modest cost seems well worth the online course and the phone app makes it easy to learn anywhere! The speech component occasionally gets glitchy, but overall I find it fairly seamless.
I see stuff on here complaining about how the app is not free, and maybe people are right that babbel should be clearer about this, however I can tell you as someone who has used duo lingo and other free apps that it's worth paying the money for babbel. I am learning so much more and so much better with babbel and am very pleased. There is waaaaaay more content, clear explanations and exercises than on something like duo lingo. Besides....it's not THAT expensive. Like 6 bucks a month....? Really you're going to complain about that? How much do you spend at Starbucks every day? You get what you pay for in life. If you go cheap often you will not get the best results. This program is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The app is free but once you've gotten started and had fun they ask you to subscribe. Duolingo is similar but completely free.
I saw an ad online saying this was a free language learning app. I will have to take French courses next year and thought I'd be able to get a head start. I only learned a few basic words before they asked me to pay! This definitely isn't free. I don't recommend it.
They continue to charge your credit card for years after you no longer use or want the program. I did not give my consent, and I did not realize the theft until I tried to start up lessons again. Once they start they will not stop taking your money until you cancel your credit card.
This app only lets you learn very basic words in each language before it requires payment to continue. Charges are somewhere around $9.99 for one month, $6.66 for 3 months, and $5.42 for 12 months. NOT FREE
I love this app.. One of the best for learning a new language
I'm just a beginner but so far I have enjoyed learning new words.
I'm just getting started but having a good time.
This app is a fantastic language learning tool, better than all the ones I've ever tried and cheaper too! The lessons are short enough to keep your attention and allow you to do lessons in a short amount of free time but long and informative enough for the learner to progress with each lesson.
However, It seems as though it doesn't sync correctly with the website. Im speaking particularly about review manager. It's a disappointment for sure.
