Great for teaching kids!. I have 2 little kids and a wife who I am trying to teach to NOT be scared of sailing. They don't like the boat rocking. This app works well finding when the best wind conditions will be for us. Nice, light consistent breeze. Or hurricane winds when I sail solo.

Very accurate. I have use this app to plan our boat outings for 5 years and it has never been wrong! Extremely accurate

The best weather app (tried all of them, I think). I am a recreational boater in Southern Georgia. I own a powerboat and I sail with a club. Accurate predictions of tides, wind and swells are crucial in planning our boating schedule. We have 8ft tides, an occasional windstorm, and moderate swells that still can affect comfort of people on the boat. For the last year I have been using PredictWind to plan our trips, sometimes several days in advance. The wind and wave prediction models have been surprisingly accurate in our region, and along with the convenient tide table they make trip planning easy. Thank you!

Excellent program!. Are use this program all the time for fishing and find it excellent. Sometimes the accuracy is just uncanny… Calling the start of wind practically to the minute. I preferred the old format slightly, which showed the time of day continuously in a legible location. The time of day will now disappear occasionally, and be more difficult to see. All in all, I would recommend this program highly.

More and more inclusive….. I am an avid user of predict wind and happy with all their recent improvements. Routing does work and is useful particularly once you learn how to put suggested trajectories in context rather than following blindly. I can’t wait for them to blend the current into their predictions.

Amazingly accurate. We use this app a lot while cruising the Great Lakes. The wind predictions are quite accurate out to three days ahead. We are impressed with how easy it is to stay out of trouble on open waters.

Information for self, locator info for others.. I’ve crewed on two boats that subscribed to Predict Wind. The sailboat enjoyed the point to point plotting features and GPS tracking for his friends. I like the multiple layers of info graphed out and easy to read. The 5 day forecast.

An app that does what you expect. I have been using this app all summer on Lake Mi and love it. I have only been using the free version but even that has sone serious power. The app is pretty self explanatory and is easy to navigate. This app just does what you expect and is easy to use.

Disappointing-chart plotter not worth it. I paid for the upgrade in this app ($50/month) specifically due to the ad that one could chart plot and be told the best way to travel based on wind/waves. That is false. You get two points, period. If there is a turn or a waypoint, tough. Furthermore, the wind/wave info is not accurate. For our recent long range trip from Marathon, Fl to Naples, Fl across that open area, the app forecasted 2’ or less waves and little wind. We encountered 4’ waves the whole way and 10-15 wind. Just not what is advertised. I wish I could get a refund and just look at the US Weather Marine Forecast.

Don’t put your money on it. This weather app has been a ride, it looks nice and fancy with all kinds of features and stuff and boy do you want to believe it. Couple of weeks ago I was going to get the paid version and then I saw the price so I thought let me wait a little bit longer. Well, I’m really happy I did. They have been wrong a a good bunch of times, but it always comes down to “its weather” anyways. Today I write this review because I took this App “to the bank” literally. this is the complete opposite of what they said it was going to be and what an embarrassing mistake. This weather app just screwed up my bosses, golf trip.

Not worth the money :(. I spent the $30 and tried so hard to like this app, but it’s just not accurate. I get better wind predictions from the native iPhone Weather app. Aside from not being able to set basic map defaults and the complete lack of miles per hour, the twelve (or longer!) hour delay times for updates on windspeed...this thing wouldn’t even be worth one dollar. Apparently you get more features if you spend an additional $60, but I can already see that’s not worth it, either. Live and learn, I suppose.

Tahiti. Am planning a 2 week sail in Tahiti. Put in the last/long and the data showed but no islands. A quick email to Craig and all is great. I have never had such rapid, personal, and friendly response from any other developer. Super job Craig. Thanks.

Always use for fishing, in my small boat on sometimes big water. I fish onshore in Massachusetts, mostly tidal rivers, but occasionally out into Buzzards Bay, in a 16' aluminum boat, 30HP. The bay is notorious for kicking up in a hurry and and is funnel shaped from the SW, concentrating winds from that direction. I've gotten into trouble on the bay in years past, enough that I bought an offshore PFD. I now rely on PredictWind to tell me when its stupid for me to go out.

Pensacola weather. I have been using this app a few weeks while we are at an anchorage near Pensacola. Very accurate and easy to use this wind app.

Very helpful weather planning. I’m a Captain on motor yachts and have my own sailboat, This program is easy to use and to see how the “predicted” weather forecasts for winds & sea conditions will effect my motoring or sailing. The forecast here is only as good as the data models are accurate. I’ve used this program from local waters in New England up to Maine and Florida to the Caribbean and it’s been very helpful.

Worthwhile addition to compliment boaters needs for accurate weather. This is a great product for any boater motor and sail. For my wife and I this is one of our go to apps. It is straight forward and easy to use.

Easy. Accurate.. Just found this app at the end of summer here in Michigan, USA. So I have just used it a few months. I am just a casual dingy sailor, but this app has been very accurate, and helpful in choosing when to sail and when to stay home. Easy to learn and use.

Bait and Switch. I have used this apps for a couple of years. This year I upgraded to basic as we are cruising up the inside passage to Alaska. The basic package says it includes 1km resolution forecast maps; 9 saved forecast locations; wave, rain, cloud, isobar maps; wind observations; and forecast alerts. I don’t get most of that. After emailing the help desk they told me I only get one 1km resolution map, as in 1 and never another and I don’t get wave maps. Those are the only reasons I upgraded. There are several other apps that will give you the information they are giving for free. Skip if you want more detail or want to deal with an honest company. If I could post a picture of what they tell is included I would.

Quite useful. The free version gives you predictions with 8 km spatial resolution. Good enough for me to decide when to go paddleboarding for two hours or so. User interface completely intuitively. Heard of a public ocean weather service that even they make use of the predictWind forecasts.

Used all the time!. We use Predict Wind all the time for helping us schedule passages and cruises. It’s easy to use and understand and the several models help reduce risk. I only with I could buy a Predict Wind hat and/or shirt so l could promote them!

Well it worth investment For Safety. Well worth for the investment when I go offshore this is what I look at along with the other apps I ownThis appbut this app is the best so far and easy to read and I highly suggest that one get it. It’s been a lifesaver.

Powerful Knowledge in a Single Site. Have an Island cottage requiring private boat access. Information on PredictWind is very accurate and timely. Tells me where to position my boat most safely for mooring, and whether planned boat trip will be pleasant, or a bit ‘hairy ‘. Meteorologists and computer modelers on PredictWind are top tier.

Great App. This app is uncanny in its ability to predict wind and thereby waves. We recently had to run 1100 miles up the Pacific coast of Mexico in 5 days. This app allowed us to run a course with little wind improving our transit time. Highly recommend!

My favorite marine wind and weather app. I’ve been sailing, boating, windsurfing and kiting since the 70s. Obviously not kiting all that time. Of all the apps out there currently, that I have tried, PredictWind is by far the best.

Accuracy is Iffy. Over the last few months, it seems that this app has lost a lot of its accuracy. Not a big fan of how it bunches up the times (5-9,10-3 etc) as I prefer hour by hour. I also don’t like how it says 3-19kts or 5-22kts. That doesn’t help me in the least, as the difference between 5 and 22kts is the difference of whether I go out or not. Used to like this app, but I think I’ll stick with WindFinder and SailFlow/Windy.

Love the weather routing. We upgraded our Predictwind service to Standard and used the weather routing and departure planning functions to help us cross the Sea of Cortez from Puerto Vallarta to La Paz, Mexico . This helped to ensure a smooth ride. We will DEFINITELY use it again!

Non SUP. Wanted an app for wind info in my area ... there are no close landmarks for wind on this app where many of us SUP ! unlike pro wind app ... you must be a boat owner to understand anything on the app and there are no settings to navigate customizing one change in this app .. happy to delete ... paddlers need hour to hour times this starts at 10 am ? Can’t make that out either lol argggg

Great App. Have used this to study weather, plan de-attires and to get suggested courses. Does a far better job than I. Have also used the offshore app in conjunction with Iridium GO and recommend it also.

Every sailor needs this. Especially where winds are not dependable. In Puget Sound a sailor really has to plan days for sailing as they aren’t every day... or weekly. Great interface and good options.

Solid. I’m a commercial Captain, I use this app daily, always accurate, always better than the other apps I have.

Updating times. I like your product but it would be heaps better if it updated 4 times a day instead of twice.

Consistently accurate. I keep a sailboat at a lake about an hour from my home in Kansas. This app has been really consistent in its prediction of the wind and that makes weekend plan making a lot easier! Loving this app so far. Been using it for three or four months, runs really well on iPhone 11.

Ultimately pretty darn good. We fought for about 18 months with the Predict Wind Offshore App. First with windows 8, then windows 10. Eventually, thanks to determination on our end, and good customer service, we got it going correctly. The program ( Predict Wind ) is great, we love the departure planning feature. The learning curve is a little painful, just lots of non intuitive steps you have to fumble thru till you get the hang of it, but well worth it. Now, it's one of our essential planning tools.

Enjoying predict wind.. I am enjoying predict wind. It’s not always right, but most of time It is. I sail a boat and also fly RC planes within 12 miles of each Location. I feel like that the app is more accurate on the lake with wide open expenses for the breeze to blow. Compared to up in the Meadows between the mountains where we Fly very small finicky planes.

Great Application for sailors !!. After a three years of constant use, I'm quite satisfied with the features of this app. However, I'd like to see the following capabilities implemented: 1. User should have capabilitity to (a) interchange the order of the graphs, for example, wind speed followed by atmospheric pressure, or 2. User should have capabilitity to superimpose graphs. For example, wind speed over atm pressure. 3. Provide the option to show a graph showing the average of the two graphs. ie, the midpoint between the two graphs. 4. Provide user graph entries on the chart to plot actual observations to compare the merits of the various app's graphs. User can save screen shots

Clear presentation. I like that I can switch between graphics and table. Being able to see all 4 model predictions at the same time is very helpful.

Great reference app. I have two wind apps to compare and predict wind app is accurate and easy to read for wind weather. I would recommend getting and subscribing to this app

Love this App!. Predict Wind has helped make our travels throughout the Med, the Caribbean, Bahamas, and East Coast for the past 2.5 years a safer and unforgettable experience. It is my go to for all the weather and route planning. Combined with Iridium Go! we can make good decisions regarding departures and routes. I've never used an app that was so efficient and helpful. The bonus is the PW team continues to update and improve. Their team is professional, courteous, and they always take the time to help you out if you need it. Their customer service is second to none. After all the weather apps I've downloaded this is by far the most accurate and thorough weather app. If there were 6 stars I'd give it that as my rating. Perfect. Perfect app with all the information presented in whatever you think is the best possible way it is. Takes a little time to understand the different models and it is disconcerting that at times they disagree so much but, it's all the information and the uncertainty in the models should tell you the uncertainty in the production. Love the app. Have used it in the Mediterranean Caribbean Pacific in San Francisco bay area and seems very good.

User friendly. I’m a Sternman on a commercial lobster vessel; we have 800 traps 5-10 miles outside. This app has been extremely useful for me for planning purposes. Also, their upgrade options are great, and definitely worth the short money as far as I’m concerned. - Also, I had a simple question about one of the app’s features that I emailed to their support center for clarity, and got an RSVP the same day. Hope this helps!

Best weather app. The free version is great, totally sufficient. However, when you sign up for the real deal, this will become the only weather app you need on your device. And the web based service is jaw dropping.

Best Sailing Weather App. I have been using PredictWind for a couple of years now. The forecasts are very helpful in planning sailing trips, either day sails or longer trips. It is easy to use and I have a choice of forecasts to use. Thanks PredictWind!

Sailing channel SV Dawn Hunters. This program is excellent and a real life tool required while voyaging or even a day sail. Just rode out 27 knot sustained with 35 knot gusts at anchor. Predict Wind forecast was dead on so our preparations last night kept us safe. Thank you Predict Wind. Capt W

Re-packaged Free Data. It’s a lot of money for publicly available data in a fancy interface. Their proprietary models are inaccurate, in my experience. So at that point you are just using an interface for publicly available data from providers like GFS/ ECMWF. If you purchase equipment from them like a YB3i unit, you are locked into purchasing their services, both airtime and forecasts. You are not permitted to download your own tracking data. From PredictWind customer support: “ The YB3i unit you purchased from PredictWind is preprogrammed to collect position reports hourly and send them directly to PredictWind every 2 hours. This cannot be modified, and for the unit to do this function, you need to pay the $20/month. “ If you want to see your tracking data, you must purchase weather forecasts. If you want to export your tracking data you must pay $49 in developer time.

Sad experience.. The App itself is another piece of fairly good information for offshore weather, not great for costal due to local land influences. However, the administrative billing errors are ubiquitous and continual. Over the course of my four year circumnavigation I have only had 1 instance where I got the service I paid for. Tech support quality has declined noticeably as Predicted Wind’s popularity has increased. I’m not sure why they can’t get it straight, but it does seem to be beyond their capabilities. So, weather info OK, frustrating time spent, very bad.

Very accurate. I'm a salt water angler and I trust these models and predictions more than the BOM. Good for planning fishing trips and I've tried the upgrade which is worth it if you're a serious boatie or yachtie.

App nowhere near as good as website. The app is ok and better than nothing if all you have with you is an iPad. But I much prefer using the predict wind website. By comparison the app is clunky and difficult to use, no pinch zooming, confusing plots, vector arrows don't scale etc etc. That said, the actual wind forecasts are good, just the app interface needs loads of work.

PredictWind is ok. It seems very reliable and gives good options. I use it for Yacht racing and Cruising. Easy to navigate. It might be interesting to understand the reasons for the different models and when each are best. John

Not bad. Would be even better if there was real feel or apparent temperature.

Accuracy. Appears to be accurate , not used for fishing yet (soon) but monitoring .

Reliable surf tool. When all of the others are getting it wrong, PW is getting it right. As Ron Burgundy may say, 100% of the time, it’s right every time! Love it ❤️

So free. So useful. Generally accurate. Many ways of looking at the extensive information. The paid version is expensive, but not needed unless you're doing the Sydney to Hobart. I always consult it before taking out my small yacht. Have used this for about 4 years now. The new charts are fantastic.

Great App. I tried the fee Version for a few months and recently upgraded. I use this as my preferred App now and I do use a few! Great work! I found the forecasts to be generally quite accurate on a recent across the Gulf passage. Support is also very helpful.

Port Lincoln, Australia. ECMWF works best for us in predicting strength of wind, strength of gust and timing and direction of changes. I couldn’t race without it now!

One of the most accurate forecasting models. Predict Wind has proven to be one of the mst accurate computer generated forecasting models, and is really a "must have" for offshore sailing especially racing. It won't always be 100% and needs accurate polars to be really effective! but is a great starting point. The only minor downside is that the website could be a bit better (even though it has recently been upgraded), for example the maps are a bit small and can't be enlarged (although you can zoom in). Of course to get full functionality you need to subscribe, but for any serious sailor this will be money very well spent.

Needs some usability improvements. Great data but hard to read the colour scale. Being able to step forward in time would be an improvement.

Great for getting your head around the weather. Seems more accurate lately than Seabreeze. I prefer the graphs in Seabreeze though, although a combination of wind direction in numbers with graph options would be great.

Fantastic tools. Great app - took a shirt standard subscription for a 10-week cruise. When we manage our more permanent lifestyle change to cruising I wouldn't be without the full version. I've been setting weather routing to comfort but played with setting it to speed and thought it would also have been useful in racing mode. Great friendly service when I had questions as well.

Great App. Useful and good accuracy

The best of them all. We have been sailing the Mediterranean for the last 4 summers, stopping at over 160 ports, mooring, marinas and anchorages. During that time I tried pretty well all wind apps, some free, some not but with unpredictable winds like the Meltemi in the Aegean and the Bora in the Adriatic, we found Predict Wind to be uncannily accurate both from a macro and micro viewpoint. Last year I took time out to join my son paragliding in Bali. Once again, we could predict down to the minute when the wind was going to come on and we could fly, this was much to the frustration of the instructors who insisted that wind apps were a waste of time. It saved hours of sitting on the ridge in blazing Balinese heat waiting for the wind... Predict Wind is simply SO worth the money and without doubt, the best of them all. Wilko

Easy to use and accurate. Have used Predictwind for a number of years and found its forecasts to be very good in Australia and Southeast Asia. The route planning tool is quite easy to set up and gives a good picture of the weather likely to be encountered

RELIABLE. First rule of forecasting: Every forecast is wrong. PredictWind is less wrong than the others. Having four models to choose from gives the user the opportunity to be part of the process and use some common sense. The go-to forecast every time.

Excellent site. I’ve used this site for about a year and have found it to be reliable and quite accurate.

Ease of use. I maybe the problem but not being the most tech savvy guy around I find this difficult to figure out and it is frustrating

Great Wind APP. I live in the Pacific Northwest, coastal British Columbia. We get lots of wind here and nice nice know when it’s coming. I’ve been using Predict Wind for a number of years now and think it’s fantastic. It’s the first thing I look at when I’m preparing to head out fishing. Would highly recommend this app.

Predict wind. The forecast is great. It is seldom wrong. As a sailer I use this app every week end. It proved that I can depend on it. The forecast is fairly accurate even though it’s several hrs behind. I used when racing or occasional small cruise. Overall, it’s a great app. Can someone get a more accurate forecast? How much would it cost to get a more accurate forecast? Could I pay once a year as opposed to monthly? Gilbert

PredictWind. As a marine engineer I find the weather information to be very informative. Access to the global weather model data in this application is something normally only available to industry professionals. I spend a lot of time on the ocean and find the wind and wave predictions to be very close to actual conditions.

Awesome!. I have been using PredictWind for the two years to watch out form storms hitting our marina. The results have been extremely accurate. To within 15 minutes. I can not ask for a better tool.

Great forecasts !. Been using the app for weather on our commercial fishing boat for three years now and have to say spot on folks , keep up the “ great “ work .

Excellent Interactive Map. Great basic weather data at a glance for a variety of concerns. The map is very straightforward and pretty accurate from experience. Before heading out in a boat, any wind events that may pose a problem are illustrated very well in logical colour gradients, making quick passage decisions easy. Departure times and routes can be planned with confidence at a glance.

Fantastic App. Use this app all the time, I have a small boat and now I can plan a safe trip and return feeling the wind will be fine.

Review. I like knowing a few days ahead what the predicted wind or weather is for my boat excursions that way when I invite friends aboard I can inform them ahead of time whether or not we can go out. It’s been a valuable tool to use. Regards Bob.

Very good app for off shore fishing. Free and accurate, good!

Takes the guess work out of weather forecasting. So very versatile. Plenty of options for checking the wind forecast. From a brief description to a coloured map you can experience the wind forecast accurately. Impressive to see how the colours change as the wind direction changes. Light winds to hurricane strength. Just tap on a location and the forecast appears. Thumbs up!

Scam!. After not having this app on my phone for many years i got an email saying my credit card was going to be charged major us funds for app renewal! I live in Canada and was never a paid membr of predict wind! Be careful!

Rank Amateur. I’ve yet to substantively need this app for passage making but I see Erik Aanderaa using it as he transits the North Atlantic between Norway and Greenland. If it’s good enough for him, it’s good enough for me.

The best app for boats!!!. Wind and waves are important for any captain. Knowing what to expect is essential to a good plan for a boat trip. This app is fantastic at making accurate predictions for both wind and waves. A great app!!

Expensive!. Free version is good but to upgrade the lowest cost is more expensive than other sailing weather apps.

Top App. I’m a very active cruising sailor and use modern technology as much as possible when it makes sense. Predict Wind clearly lands as one of my 3 must have pieces of software.

Missing MPH units for wind speed. Suggest MPH units for wind speed. Great App free version provides a lot of information. Not sure if I am missing something, but it’s odd that I cannot select mph for wind units.

Too many limitation!!!. This app has too many limitations for a free account! Even has only 2 forecast predictions per free account which means that after you open the app for the first time to check it out you have only a second time view and you get the msg that you reached the limit! All the features it has are for the pay ware version! It’s a total scam. Worthless!

Incredible app. I used this app when I brought my boat to Florida from the Northern Chesapeake and it was very very helpful. It’s a great app, easy to use and works great.

Most accurate win predictions I found. I have tried many apps for accurate wind predictions. predict wind most closely mirrors actual conditions.

Easy use. I’m 60 an not a tech person but this site is so easy to use. We fish out of ORI in nc an it’s a dangerous inlet on a good day. So it’s very important to no wind direction an speed.

Expensive. There are good features, but there are many other applications at a fraction of the cost they do the same.

Use PredictWind. I use PredictWind almost daily on and off the boat. It serves my purposes well.

Right on the money. Very accurate forecasts. Easy way to see all the weather parameters at once.

Fantastic Wind and Wave Predictor. This is the only app you'll need for off shore sailing. You will have to pay to get the better features, but the price is reasonable.

Useful Wind App. We use this app as one resource for wind/wave conditions when we boat. Lots of information. Probably too much for me. Recommended.

Color Contrast excellent. For me the color contrast helps me immediately understand the weather coming and also how severe it is. This will prove to be a life savor, no pun too!

Love this app!. The ability to get weather offshore with the IridiumGo integration is outstanding. Weather models are very accurate.

Used to love it - not any more. Have used it for years. I sail out of wifi coverage all the time, Predict wind forecast used to stay on my IPad for days after initial download. Now after app upgrade the app searches for a wifi connection and deletes my existing forecast and tells me I need a wifi connection. Has become useless for me! TO BAD!

Beware - tried app 4 years ago and suddenly they want to bill $249. Not sure what is going on here I don’t use this app and had deleted it years ago and suddenly they send me an email saying my 14 day free trial has ended and they are going to charge my credit card $249!

Good but not perfect. Predict Wind (paid version) provides an excellent level of analysis, but is only as accurate as the various models for local weather.

Enjoy Predictwind. It is taking me a little time to navigate this program, but I am liking it More and more as I work my way through it.

Getting ready to buy. While at Maritme school, MERTS, in Astoria (Columbia River Entrance) I have been using the free version of Predict Wind. Now I am getting ready to sail from San Diego to Astoria I am planning on buying the 12 months version.

I love PredictWind!. We use this to help with our sailing adventures. PredictWind has been fairly accurate every time!

Newby boater. My thoughts about fishing on a small boat lead me to believe I need all the help I can get. In fishing and boating. It’s comforting to know that you provide that for me at a great price.

Excellent program. I would recommend this app to any serious mariner no matter where you sail, no matter the vessel. Weather routing and departure planning are excellent.

All the data I need.... Actually more than I need. But more data is better than less....

Pretty Good. You do a pretty good job predicting the weather (wind) in Saginaw Bay off shore from Bay Port. However, Saginaw Bay has it’s own microclimate that proves to be sometimes very unpredictable.

Predict wind comments. I find it very good but would like more location options.

Great for offshore fishing. Use this app in conjunction with other apps before going offshore. Weeklong feature seems to be true to course. Too bad weatherman doesn’t use it.
