Seamless Reporting for work. I use this app for my company’s expense report. It is simply fantastic. I never need to carry receipts any more. Expensify would be smart to boost their marketing efforts to move more companies to implement this system. My previous company stubbornly was stuck in the Stone Age requiring paper receipts and an excel report, simple because they never had a comprehensive explanation of modern/efficient expense reporting services. Some call that old fashioned, I call it being behind our competitors. I accurately track each expense with photos of receipts. I love it, and mg company loves it. App is works well. It’s connects well with Uber and other services. Connects to banking very nicely. I typically submit my expenses to my company using this app and within a day, everything is approved and reimbursement starts. The scanning feature can be improved, but I rarely use it anyway. Perhaps if it was quicker and more accurate, I would gladly pay more for the service, but right now, especially for complicated receipts, I simply snap a picture and upload it and enter the figures manually. Takes just a few seconds. Thank you for this app.

Fabulous and flexible. I recently returned from a month long trip abroad and used expensify to keep track of my receipts. I could take a quick picture of the receipt and the program would (eventually) pull out the needed info. I could also choose to enter any info manually. It was easy to categorize expenses. I just finished out the reports and downloaded them. They are well formatted. The $4.99 monthly subscription was well worth the cost. Since I don’t travel often I cancelled my subscription after downloading my reports. I’ll resubscribe next time I’m on an extended trip.

Great concept, really buggy. I have to open it at least three times before will stay open. If you don’t fully fill out an expense in the moment it will keep glitching on the notification prompting you to ‘fix violations’ the whole time the app is open, which makes it hard to wait to fill everything out until after your business trip is over. Also gets the dates wrong on some expenses, especially while they’re still pending (? I don’t know how a purchase made at 8am on the 16th could auto fill to the 17th even before I upload the receipt.) I’d also love to see an ability to give reports a nickname so I can easily categorize my trips expenses to track whether I’m over or under my per diem, printing budget, etc. without having to memorize the autogenerated report codes.

Expensify is HORRIBLE. Expensify is literally the worst. I am forced to use it to submit my expenses at work or I would never touch it again. If you are in charge of making the decision of what to use in your workplace to submit expenses... this is not a good solution. The interface is unforgivably unintuitive. Accounts will just stop being synced with this system with no warning. When you spend hours checking boxes to create a report - it will just clear them and you will have to start over. When you try to use the chat for help - they are NEVER there. They just revamped the interface and somehow it is WORSE than before but with different fonts. I don’t understand how such a clunky hard-to-use product is so widely utilized. I work in tech and have a degree in economics (I’m not generally challenged with financials or with tech) and I have literally had to submit a support ticket for EVERY expense report I have ever submitted. Please fire your UI team, do some user testing and make your product easy to use ....PLEASE!!!

Shady price hikes. I used to love expensify and used them for many years. This past year I noticed my fees were going higher and higher and I don’t need the service for my current job so I contacted them to put it on hold. They tell me the prices are going up and will increase 100 percent (from 5 to 10 $ per month). And then when I ask how to pause the service until I need it they say I can’t. They claim I was given notice. It was one sarcastic email that said “if you’re bored in quarantine go read our updated terms”. Nothing warning you about massive price hikes or limited time to opt out. I haven’t used the service in over a year. I think it’s shady to take the price up in 40 percent increments each month. It seems they want to make you gloss over this in your cc statement. I asked for the phone number and their isn’t one. Just some chat bot. I hate when companies do this! So shady. I wouldn’t use them again. Price gouging customers in a pandemic and hoping they don’t notice is just a new low.

Be VERY sure about Expensify pricing policies.... I have a small business and had hoped Expensify would help with organizing and tracking staff expenses and such...but the set up and process didn’t provide the benefits I’d expected for my particular needs. I tried it out for several weeks (after the initial trial), realized it wasn’t for me, but then got busy with other work, and waited several months to find the log in info and cancel the account. It promptly warned me that I was on a very confusing annual plan, and that they would have to bill me for a higher rate for the months I’ve been using the program. Though I hadn’t been “using” the program, I suppose I didn’t meet the qualifications of an inactive user(?), and that I would have to pay a canceled subscription charge amounting to about 6 months of fees I’d already been paying for 8 months. While I am not normally affected by irritations such as this, it seemed incredibly deceptive, even after reading through the pricing structure again afterwards, and has prompted me to write this review, hoping it might encourage others to understand it thoroughly before committing to an Expensify program. It might have been cheaper to keep the program for the extra months and cancel later, but by that time I was too huffy to consider it, and just wanted out. Too bad. I might have revisited it another time, but certainly not now.

Quick Response. I just downloaded the app for work and had misspelled the name of an attendee for one of the expenses. Went to the concierge figuring that it would just be a computer generated response to a search and was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. In fact it was someone live responding to questions. Although the problem could not be solved, the person on the other end was very helpful and responsive to questions. Again, pleasantly surprised. Thanks again whoever you were.

Terrible Experience that has made growing my company difficult.. I’ve had to deal with issues around an expensify card settlement for over 7 months. Despite me providing my bank statements per request 3 times they keep randomly adjusting my card limit and settlement process. Last week I started receiving notices that all of my key marketing and domain services were disabled b/c of payment denial. This was caused due to Expensify adjusting my card limit from $25k to $100. I’m literally struggling to run my business because of this and feel forced to use alternative cards. I’d understand this is I didn’t have over 800X the original limit in my bank accounts (statements provided) for the past year. I’ve even tried to request a call to work out the issues but have been told that messaging is the only way to resolve this. Very disappointed because I really wanted this to work for us. I guess the more traditional expense systems are used by most for a reason.

Love it less lately. Smart scan used to be a huge time saver - quick and accurate. Lately it takes up to a day to scan and errors are pretty common. I used to be able to take a picture of a receipt and just forget about it, but now I have to check them all and fix far too often. The developer response is condescending. I have used the app for several years. For most of that time it steadily improved. Smart scan removed all of the cognitive load and made it fire and forget. That is no longer true. Errors have become common and scan time is 24 hours or so. That means I have to think about it now. I always scan at point of purchase. Instead of the lame “you’re holding it wrong” excuse they need to fix this. Obviously they are having scaling problems. I guess that means business is great, so good for them. It won’t stay great if they don’t get back to making the product get better with time instead of worst.

Amazing App. I downloaded this app to submit my dining out receipts to insurance. We had a recent flood in our kitchen and unable to do our usual cooking while we wait on contractors. The receipts were piling up (over 100 so far) and task seemed daunting as far as submitting them all to a Mercury Insurance. I thought of xeroxing all of them and mailing them off to my adjuster but my printer is low on ink and then I decided to search for a receipt scanner app. Expensify was the best overall rated app and I am happy to say it blew my mind in that not only did it read receipts that had low ink and were a bit crumpled but it sorted them by date automatically making it so easy and get through the huge pile. I will check back when I find out if it was easy for my adjuster to open and receive the report. thankful from happy receipt scanner!

Laggard service, lacking basic functionality. After investing a few days to set everything up, I now regret it - but I am stuck as I don’t want to retrain everyone in the company for the next disappointing service.. Despite advertising response within 24 hours, they replied to me more than a week after asking about an issue and after the monthly expense posting deadline. The entire service is a bit confusing, but ok I can live with that, just need a little more time investment I thought. However their automated categorization of expenses, which is supposed to work like a charm to save time as opposed to create new issues, is beyond useless. They don’t even recognize Uber or Github receipts submitted probably by millions of people by default, even if we just forward the machine readable email receipts. But ok I thought, let’s then set up expense rules manually... Well, that doesn’t work either :) At least not for everyone in the company “policy”. I can’t set it up centrally so that it posts neatly expenses to QBO. No.. Every employee would need to set this up for themselves, coordinating with with each other, or I can sit down 48 times to do it for everyone, every time there is a new expense category :) It’s beyond me how this service got 5 stars.

A great idea that turns out to be a scam. I’m currently in the process of reporting this company to the Attorney General of my state, Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau for unethical practices. The software is a little complex and unintuitive, but once you figure out the basics it works well. They’ve changed how they bill so now I’ve been billed for 6 people for the past 3 years when I’ve had a max of two. When you contact them they won’t refund even though they confirm that only two people max have used the software for these years. I deleted the users but the reworked the system so you are still billed for them unless you change the software in a secondary setting. Like I said unintuitive. I’m an honest hardworking business that has had to borrow money to stay afloat for the past two years. This business just went public and makes 100 million a year and charged me over $2,000 for no service delivered and won’t do anything about it. Either be extremely on top of them monthly or find another more ethical business to support your company as they will gladly rip you off when they can and do nothing about it

Account Manager. I got an email from your company today that both appalled me and mad me really angry. I don’t know why corporations feel they should take a stand on politics. We don’t use you for your politics. Why can’t you keep your opinions and lies to yourself. The email sent today was the most unbelievable lies I have every seen. I am an independent and what you sent out made me sick. I watched all year long while BLM burned down cities, police and people were killed in cities across this country. I also watched people vandalize the capital building. Both were wrong and neither were peaceful!!! I don’t want your opinion or lies shoved in my face. Please keep your personal political opinions to yourself!! I will suggest to some rather large companies that I know the owners to never use Expensify. You just alienated half of this country with your lies!! Trust me, I am not the only one angry over your ridiculous email!!

Smartscan doesn’t work. I’ve taken perfectly clear pictures of very well printed receipts and have had smartscan going for hours without success. I’ve asked for help and just got back a firm response saying to keep doing what I’ve already been doing. I don’t have hours to input even one receipt more or less several. After two scripted responses from the developer, that really weren’t any help, I discovered that the best way to handle a receipt is to take a picture of the receipt and immediately save it. After awhile you’ll get a notification that the receipt was scanned and whether it was accepted or if there was a violation that needs to be dealt with. This discovery raises my score from a 1 star to a 4 star rating.

Expensify needs to get back in the customer service game!. The reason expensify was awesome at first— namely, they had amazing customer service that was super helpful— is now their downfall. It’s now nearly impossible to get ahold of a customer service rep and takes at least a day. Most of the time, you’re blocked from the real-life customer service reps by the most unhelpful and unintelligent bot ever, “Concierge”. The bot has not once been able to actually understand my question properly and help. If the problem I was having was easy to answer, I’d find an FAQ about it! If I’m reaching out for help, I need a PERSON who can analyze and actually help. Not only that, “concierge” will often send unhelpful and confusing emails that are meant to help me but actually are just annoying and offer incorrect advice.

What happened to this app?. It’s been a while since I worked at a company that uses Expensify. And it seems over the past few years the app experience has regressed significantly. The entire experience from signing in, to syncing transactions, to managing reports is quirky and requires a fair bit of ingenuity. And maybe this isn’t the case for everyone but for my linked credit card account, new transactions never sync to my reports view in the mobile app. I have to go to the web app to update transactions from the Credit Card Import under Account Settings. I’m giving an extra star for the proactive and readily available “concierge” support. I figured out my issues on my own but they were there to help if I needed it.

Great product. I have been using Expensify for several years. It’s a great product with exceptional customer service. They are very responsive on their chat feature. I can ask them anything and they will respond almost immediately. The only two negatives are that I’ve come across a couple limitations with the depth of functionality. It’s limited. Also the owner is very “political”. It’s very inappropriate to bring your personal views to a business platform. If it wasn’t such a pain to move software, I would have at my last job because of that. Other than that, it’s very user friendly and a nice product for the price point.

Extremely useful app and helpful concierge. I have used this app for work in the past and found it extremely easy. I set up a free individual account for a nonprofit organization I volunteer in as the treasurer. I did this because other volunteers kept losing receipts. I had an extremely specific issue with this individual account on a Saturday at 4 pm and the concierge support team was a live person who helped. I am not paying for this app yet I still got this level of support. I think that speaks volumes to the quality of this app.

Unbelievable!!! Owner emailed me trying to sway my vote!!!. I just received an email from David Barrett, the owner of Expensify, trying to ridicule a vote in one direction and calling the other way (his thoughts) as the only vote possible for a rational person! This is unbelievable!!! I have my personal & business email and information to this company in order to use their ap and service. Me Barrett crossed the line and used my information to push his own personal political agenda! This is not right snd I feel even a breech of confidence. I let him know that I will be deleting his ap and asked him to remove all my inform from his files. This should never be allowed to happen regardless of the opinion. It doesn’t matter which side he was on. Just because he feels a vote for Biden is the only logical choice, it is obvious that both side of the fence are exactly the same. They breech confidence and trust for their own gain.

It’s an expense app... but wait there’s more!. Not only do they provide an expense app that we canceled because we found a more stable & end user friendly option but David will email you at 2am telling you “I know you don’t want to hear this from me. And I guarantee I don’t want to say it.” After he settles that interesting internal conflict with himself, he’ll tell you how to make better personal decisions. Awesome right? David feels his opinion is valuable to you & wants to give you even more than you paid for. He teaches you what he thinks is important & that you should too, he’ll enlighten your life with how it should be & he criticizes his customers to ensure they make better decisions for their families. So if you need an expense app AND a personal life coach David is your guy. If you’re comfortable with your life & you just need an expense app well as we again found there are MUCH more stable software. We chose another app and Wayne Dyer books. Good luck & I hope you can learn to be the right customer for David, not disappoint him with your decisions and overall meet his expectations for your life. Wait... who is David again?

Locked in to 4X price increase - can’t cancel. Great product! But... You can’t cancel your account until you delete your company policies. You can’t delete your company policies until the end of your subscription. If you try, the error message says, “Unable to Downgrade Account” until the end of your subscription. I don’t want to “downgrade” I want to CANCEL. Unfortunately, I didn’t turn off Auto-Renew. So Expensify has billed me for 2x the price I was paying, and they said that will increase to 4x, since they Auto-Renewed me in March. I explained to “Concierge” (their AI driven ‘support’) that during the pandemic I’ve gone from 5 employees to 1 and I haven’t used the product since April 2020. Nothing. “Concierge” might be great at reducing cost, but no empathy for real customer situations; it doesn’t understand why I’m asking to cancel. Won’t consider circumstances. If this is the world of AI, no thanks. Instead of providing a small refund of $150 and canceling my account, I’m on the hook to pay $1,200 for a product I no longer use. A bitter lesson learned. All I can do at this point is say Expensify is a great product but their business practices are selfish and don’t take into account the needs and concerns of their customers.

Love the app but have the functionality. I started using this this app several years ago at the recommendation of a client. I like the fact that I can go paperless and get rid of all the paper receipts however being that I’m a self-employed person and some of my receipts don’t have the title of the store or restaurant or wherever (ex. New York City taxi) scanning gets a little bit more confusing and I have to manually type that in additionally and the system doesn’t recognize the manually entered receipt with automated same receipt once it’s posted to my account. 2)expense reports this past year have not been updating the correct total. I can see the amounts I entered for each receipt and the total does not reflect those. 3) another real BIG problem is that there is no phone number to speak to a customer service person which is extremely frustrating and very needed because it takes up to three days to have an issue resolved. For example- I have my own s Corp however paying to send expense reports to myself makes no sense. I tried undoing this but then I was unable to access past folders. Customer service via email did a poor job of explaining and didn’t refund me. Also the app often loses marked categories when I manually enter in. I’m not sure why that is. The categories show up on the computer but not on app. I do hope this can be fixed.

Great app but needs improvement. The concept of this app is great and if you set it up for your needs, it’s extremely useful. However, since I’ve started using it (January 1st, 2022), it has been very slow and glitchy. Often doesn't get receipts right and it seems as if it gets overwhelmed when you have a ton of receipts to separate into different reports. Again, awesome concept. But if you don’t have patience and can’t stay on top of manually sorting receipts into the reports you want them in, this app is definitely not for you. But with that being said, not having to deal with thousands of receipts at the end of the year is great.

Cannot cancel subscription. This is the worst customer service ever! Once they get you in, you can absolutely not cancel your subscription no matter what. You can only do the online shot, there’s no way you can talk to a person on the phone, and of all keep your subscription for a full year no matter what. In pandemic nobody is using expense reports because there’s no business travel. They simply don’t care. They keep charging the credit card every month, they never warn you about renewing your plan in advance. And then they don’t want to let you cancel and get out of it and get your money back. So they get a guaranteed income for a full year no matter what you do. The worst company ever. I would not recommend them to any small business

Don’t be fooled- you can’t cancel easily. A few years ago, I decided to improve my record keeping. Expensify was the mode I chose. After buying the app, I never really got started, and that’s not the fault of Expensify. So, the monthly credit card charge just kept rolling while the app sat unused in my phone. Today, I decided to cancel. I couldn’t find a cancel option on the app. I wrote concierge and got an immediate response asking how to help and keep me in the fold. I again asked for instructions on canceling. Concierge went cold. After multiple messages from me and 7+ hours time, I got the SAME “no answer” response. Then, finally, instructions that DID NOT work! I then called the phone number given for Expensify on my credit card statement. Guess what? The answering machine mail box is FULL! So, I’d advise those looking for an app of this type to look elsewhere. I’d hate to have a pressing need with this app- you can’t get a response without much effort, and then all you get Is the runaround.

Great assistant. Couple of changes recommended.. I’m a sole practitioner with a lot of small travel expenses. Expensify gets rid of the paper and data entry hassle completely. I love that. I would like to see 2 improvements. 1. The ability to add a handful of custom expense categories in addition to “other”. 2. Smartscan always puts an expense in the report that is first in the list. However I have multiple reports open in parallel and this means the expense is almost always put in the wrong report and I have to change 50 entries to get them in the proper report. This is a recent change to Expensify that I hate. A year or two ago the expenses were auto-filed in the report that was most recently active which was better.

Political Opinions Are Unnecessary. I got a long email from the founder/CEO (It was a blanket email to all customer) telling me to vote for Joe Biden and if I don’t vote for Joe Biden it will be the end of democracy as we know it (hard not to role my eyes. Ha.) I disagreed with most of what he said, but that’s okay. One of the main reasons America is the best country in the history of the world is because we all have the right to voice our opinions however we see fit. Apparently, the CEO of Expensify feels the need to express his first amendment right by repeating what he heard on CNN to his customers. That’s his right and I think it’s a great thing. As a customer, I also have the right to cancel my subscription if I get annoying political emails when all I really want to do is create my weekly expense report. I appreciate all opinions, and it’s not really a huge deal, but I think there is a time and place for politics. My company email account yesterday is not the time or place. Just my opinion.

Buyer beware. Don’t , don’t, don’t buy/use this app. This company is the worst to do business with. My company cards never synced right could NEVER get anyone on the phone and they HOLD YOU HOSTAGE and you can’t cancel your account until your renewed year comes up. Save yourself some time and money DON NOT PURCHASE THIS APP OR DEAL WITH THIS WORTHLESS COMPANY! Update to your response: Funny you mention have to see out the contract. How about the HORRIBLE SERVICE no phone number NO ONE willing to help us. It never worked as advertised and I’m locked in to your bogus 12 month contract…..sounds very shady to me. Excuses excuses. I have had employees leave the company yet I’m still locked in with no willingness to change the plan. BUYER BEWARE THERE ARE A LOT BETTER APPS THAT ACTUALLY DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY DO WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Fantastic app. Other than the following, it is phenomenal being able to throw out receipts and not worry about plastic baggies or fading ink. As far as I’m concerned, the auto-scan feature and it’s convenience makes it the leader in it’s category. I recommend it to everyone I know who owns a business. After the latest update, it will always treat me like I am on the free trial (I am a payed monthly member) until I sync my account in settings which is annoying. I also find it will randomly log me out when I need it the most, which means fumbling through my passwords as it does not support Face ID. Nevertheless, It always uploads receipts quickly and stores them as soon as you scan. The auto-scan feature is never wrong, I have never had to correct an auto-scanned receipt. The concierge is very helpful, being forgetful sometimes I file the same expense twice, within a couple of minutes they notify you and remove it for you.

Excellent but pricing not adequate for a simple usage. Hi, my usage is just scanning receipts, letting the OCR and algorithm do their thing, and getting a pdf report. I do not need it to be connected to another external system or invoice, as my company has its expense tool. The trip taken is an option, I do not use it. The pdf report just accelerate my reporting process, and also give me a more advanced solution on my phone, to add info during the trip. Our company only is over 20k employees, and we all have a similar issue but don’t have a solution provided. Also, concierge seems to be a good idea but it is sometimes a little bit invisive. In that context, the pricing is wrong for the usage described usage. I would like a flat fee or a way lower subscription fee just to be able to do what I described. The app is excellent at getting the right information (some other apps are retrieving too much info, but this one is well “calibrated”). The only issue is the pricing. Note: it would be great to be able to “send” by email electronic receipts so that they appear in the expense section, like for online orders and Uber/Lyft trips.

Administrator in Higher Ed. So far so good!! The last couple of years I have struggled to manage keeping my receipts together. This year was no different. October 15th was my deadline to file taxes and I stressed the entire weekend trying to find receipts. Effective yesterday I made a commitment to using more effective tools and as I looked for something to help me manage expenses Expensify came highly rated. Actually it was the number one. So far so good. I have uploaded two receipts and categorized them already. I am only using the free version right now but I’m almost certain I will be paying the fee to continue its use.

Easy to use and Excellent Customer Service. I started using Expensify to track my solo expenses for tax purposes. It’s such an easy to use product that I have been able to toss out all the paper based work that took up a large amount of time every month. At some point, I was switched to a lower priced plan that was a better fit for any person who is just tracking and not submitting for reimbursement. I had mistakenly applied a group policy setting and was actually paying twice for the app. The Customer Service person/“Consierge” was extremely helpful in fixing the situation. It was resolved easily and without any added stress. So any app that works well, saves me time, and has great customer support when needed is a thumbs up in my book!

APP is nice, but if something breaks it could literally be weeks before you get support. I really enjoyed the Expensify application and it appears to have most everything I am looking for with some exceptions. My biggest issue and I would most likely not buy this program again unless I fix would be put in place and that is the complete lack of life support. If you run into any issue and you need their support there is no telephone number and there is no live chat options unlike every other APP I use. Unfortunately when you submit an issue and you are in need of help from their team they tell you they may get back to you in 24 hours or more. In reality, you ask a detailed question and 24 hours later they come back to you with a generic answer that does not fix a thing. Repeat this multiple times and you are stuck without being able to run your business or pay your employees it is terrible! If they fixed this to a live or better format to be able to respond to your needs when their program is not working correctly I would give it five stars however given the above I give them 1 to 3 stars.

Concierge feature has gone from bad to nightmare.. ugh! Expensify you’re killing me here. Expensify was great until this a few updates ago when concierge option to disable auto summit was set submit daily as default on my profile. Normally this would not be a problem as I would log in to my laptop to retract a report so I can put all my receipts in one report. Well today I wanted to work on my expenses and guess what, you can’t retract a report that was closed. No worries because Puffin browser has always been there to help me launch the desktop Expensify site on my smartphone, well at least that was in the past. Today it won’t allow me to navigate the desktop version and instead wants me to launch the app. Seriously? Can you guys make life more complicated for an app that is supposed to make life easier? Expensify I’m about ready to dump you like yesterday’s newspaper.

Perfect for Personal/Business. Having used this app for over a year, it became evident how helpful it is when tracking Tax Deductions without hassle! I personally use it for Everyday Expenses (ie. Dry Cleaning) & Business Expenses. Without taking more than a few seconds (especially when using Expensify’s “SmartScan”) can make life THAT much better. It arguably makes taxes a fun, although most may disagree. I recommend this app if you are generally very busy and need something to keep track of your expenses on the fly.

Two complaint. 1. when traveling in a personal car for work this software offers you the option to have it track your miles. This is very nice except that it pulls on the processor so hard that your phone heats up like an oven. I can play video game on my phone and it doesn’t even get hot. In fact even when the phone is plugged into the car charger it still decreases in battery while running this option. 2. The second complaint is the stupid political stuff that randomly shows up when using their service. I find it unethical to charge us for a service that you use to push your political messages. Even if I agreed with the message, it’s still not ethical and you should never be seen on any “professional” service. Some people might even find this problematic as it may need to be reported as a donation to the party as advertising.

Do not update! App does nothing but crash now. I was able to use the app after the latest revision for a whole of one expense, and now it does nothing but crash. On the latest iOS it does that weird thing where you can see the screen image while sliding between different apps that are open, but once selected it crashes and or blanks out and returns you to your phone’s home screen. Cannot comment about the latest updates changes within the app due to it now being completely unusable. **********UPDATE ************ Problem fixed, love the improvements. Only 4 stars due to annoying header notifications every time and expense or report is created or updated.... these just get in the way and stall you work flow.

A Useful Tool as A Intern. As I write this, it has been my second week interning for the company I chose to work with to fill my major and minor requirements for college. I tend to travel much more this semester which has led to more inconvenient gas expenses. However, due to the fact, the company I am interning for has chosen to work with Expensify, I have much less to worry about in regards to my travel costs. The active chat employees are always accommodating with making sure you are reimbursed for expenses as soon as possible and strive to create a positive experience whenever you require their assistance. I’m not one to usually write reviews but, when I find the right brand I just tend to say how I genuinely feel about it. Take that as you will but I hope that most companies tend to consider integrating this app for employees due to the hassle it alleviates. Either way, I recommend you give it a try if you get the chance.

Performance has declined rapidly.. Expensify’s performance has fallen dramatically, it used to be stellar at reading receipts, even hard ones as I believe they had humans to back up if the machine can’t spot the correct information, unfortunately I have gone from 95% receipts read and entered to about 50% or less, I have ALOT of receipts and this app has completely dropped the ball for me as of lately. It also used to take a matter of MINUTES to scan and now takes up to a day? That’s ridiculous there is a great number of people who do all their expensing in one place and don’t have 24 hours to wait for a bunch of failed responses. They are now lazy, don’t even offer retrying and simply have you do it yourself. Unfortunate as it was once fantastic and well worth the money, now I am spending far more time and effort to get them done then what’s worth it.

Great customer service if you push. I was getting super frustrated with a unique problem signing in after my email was discontinued an inaccessible, taking way longer than it should have to solve (weeks), but then I got a bit forceful in the concierge chat and lo and behold was connected via live chat to a real person who was incredibly helpful and pursued the problem until it was solved. I am incredibly impressed. The program has always been easy to use, efficient, and cost effective for my sole proprietorship, but the customer service was above and beyond what I expected when in a pinch.

Great app - wonderful customer support!. Not only does the app work perfectly for tracking and sending my receipts to my office finance dept seamlessly and with great detail. It definitely made my life easier! I also can’t say enough about how flexible and understanding the customer support is. Very quick at responding to all my questions and concerns. No matter how frustrated I am they are always very professional and understanding. A very professional app with professional support! If your looking for a receipt tracking app seriously stop looking. You found it!

Was amazing, now terrible.. This app used to be amazing for submitting expenses. You can make reports add things by importing your credit cards and click items on the cc and it added the receipts. It was absolutely amazing. About a year ago they changed it and your expense accounts automatically send themselves. The Problem with this is that the expense account has submitted itself to your HR manager before you’re ready for it to be submitted and before it’s complete and apparently there is no workaround for this so every Sunday whether you want to or not, the expense account is submitted. The only thing is that if there’s a dollar limit on your expense account so my expense accounts are often over $100,000. Well, it doesn’t like this, so it’ll constantly say expense account over threshold well I’m sorry how is it any of your business how much my company allows me to spend on my expense account as long as I document it? So what once was a wonderful way to keep track of expenses is now a terrible program. Skip it. Find a better program.

Best (and most charming) Customer Support. Accounting issues can be tough enough as it is… trying to coordinate everyone to submit their expenses is yet a feat in itself. Throw a kooky technical issue in there and it leaves you frantic and deflated at the end of the month. Expensify’s Concierge has one of the best customer support I’ve encountered. They are SO helpful and don’t leave you until the issue is resolved, no matter how long it takes. I’m really shocked that they go over and above what is usually considered the norm. Really top notch. Oh… and they are super pleasant to chat with. Great job, Concierge!!

NEEDS AUTOSAVE + stop auto submit. Fantastic app and website But for the LOVE OF GOD The amount of times I have entered a description or edited the category and then clicked back out to edit another (and it lets me) instead of clicking save is INFURIATING. This just feels like the kind of thing that saves automatically, since it let's yoy just exit! This should obviously auto save, or at the very least do the "are you sure you want to exit?" pop up cause wow if there's one thing people don't want to spend extra time doing or do correctly only for it to disappear is expenses and descriptions Secondly, the auto submit is extremely annoying. I want to be able to be on a biz trip and submit as I go without it trying to submit right that night! And it's not obvious how to do this / it's part of my company policy. No bro, when you create a report, just have a freaking auto submit toggle, and either way certainly notify before you auto submit. Can't believe that's still not a feature. Ok thx bye👋

Great Solution. Granted, I have not tried other expense tracking products since I started to use Expensify a number of years ago, but I have kept up to date on competitive features, and Expensify continues, in my opinion, to be the best solution for a small to medium-sized company. Very easy to set up, administer, and use on a day-to-day basis. Take a quick picture or forward an email receipt, select a category, and submit. Submission can be done manually, at the end of a trip (location-based),or based on a predefined (or custom) time period.

Biggest improvement to my quality of life since the smartphone. I’m a career management consultant - travel weekly, sometimes to different clients over the course of a week. Most but not all of my expenses are billable. And I am one of the owners of the firm, so I’m involved in submitting expenses for reimbursement, approving others’s expenses for reimbursement, invoicing, bookkeeping - the whole process. We started using Expensify a year ago, moving away from the receipt + tape method to 100 percent digital scanning. While we don’t use Expensify for invoicing (super buggy to re-bill expenses through Expensify), it nonetheless has streamlined our entire process, improved accuracy, and saved considerable time and frustration for everyone. Highly recommend!

The worst functionality! Don’t recommend for any firm to use this. The app and the website do not sync. I spent 2 hours to find a way to add my bank account on the website. It does not work, keep asking me stupid questions like Company name, tax..It’s ridiculous and can’t understand why those info is needed? You guys should learn from Turbo Tax on how to link an account. What’s the point here to link an account and I have to spend time inputting information? Which logic is there to ask for Company name, tax, address or phone? Please please no one uses those today. If you don’t know how to make the app more friendly, more accessible. I bet no one ever want to use your service! I won’t use it if my firm does not force me to use.

They are simply better than me. I love it how they enable the automatic report submission for me, then there is no option to disable it in the mobile app, and when trying to access their website from my phone the only available option after logging in is to go back to the mobile app. Indeed, I shouldn’t presume to know anything about what i want to do with my reports. And of course why should a company in the 21st century provide a phone number for people to contact for support? The important decision-makers have the right phone numbers, and the regular users should just get on with the program. We are simply not important enough for the company to waste valuable resources on. It is good to be reminded of our place in the grand scheme of things.

Excellent tool for independent consultant. I have tried many ways of managing expenses across projects and clients expensify works brilliantly. Mostly I like the ease of emailing and scanning receipts with auto the management of items and reporting is so easy. I also have set up some custom templates for reporting which works well too. I'm giving it 4 stars because Sometimes scanning just loses things and the automatic allocation to reports can mean expenses seem lost. Finally the there is limited credit card import to expense match, or at least many misses. Having said all that I've not found a better product and I tried many.

Bugs & glitchy but streamlines the process. Love the camera feature. It makes adding receipts a lot easier than on the web/desktop version. But the app crashes, freezes and it’s difficult signing in via the app & website. The app has scared me a couple of times after signing in and it say “make your first report” when I had been working on one for days. Also it’s frustrating that the homepage doesn’t have a easy to find login screen. It’s always tryna sign me up again or freezes on the signup screen even though it says I’m logged in. I often find myself using both my phone and computer at the same time to process expenses and add receipt. It would be nice if the app had all the same features like mileage but it crashes so often that I do t try to push it. As long as the image uploads, I can edit it on my computer. I only used Expensify for work and I’m pretty tech savvy. I can only imagine how it is for people who aren’t. :/

Major Improvements. There have been some serious improvements with Expensify. It was great when it first came out and then because a disaster of bug issues using the mobile app where the app was almost unuseable because doing the most simple functions were barely working. Well done on the FINAL fixes. Two suggestions to make users lives easier. Face ID for protection- who knows what mayhem a child could cause in your app if they managed to get in. Second- Every Expense needs a (Merchant) name or business name. Why hasn’t anyone thought about creating a list of frequently used names- like you do for the description categories. Oh man, would that make life easier and cut chunks of time in business owners already valuable working hours. In fact, here’s a third- why on every single time I create a new expense I have to switch off the Reimbursement tab? Wouldn’t you think that most businesses would physically pay for most products and that it would be something you would specifically select if you needed it rather than assuming EVERY business expense is reimbursable......? Simplify, Expensify

Mr Michael white from Infinity Coating Solutions. For the first time in 10 years I’ve been able to collect all of my data and claim more cash back from the Tax Department,,,, yooooo hooooo best set up ever cheers

Privacy and performance issues. I’m not able to delete my account information and data after canceling the service. Which means all of my expenses and data are vulnerable. There’s no option to delete my account and data on the app or on the website I checked on my phone. Additionally the app feels laggy to import data and use compared to other expensing apps I’ve tried. Some of the bugs are basic functionality issues that shouldn’t be in an app with this rating, I was surprised how high the rating was compared to my own experience.

Convenient App. Very convenient app but slow to scan docs. It was faster before the last update.

Great app - poor photo and PDF output for audit. Features are great- been using since it was still free and now within my firm. Picks up most small paper Reciepts well with date/ vendor amount . 3 issues raised to dev: - photo viewer vs photo taken shows spacing since it is zoomed out. App needs to fix this. - PDF output for A4 receipts compressed image too much cannot read image for auditing properly and sometimes need to resend - no option for exporting all images separately for file for tax time (shows in PDF- but sometimes too small from #2)

Crashes during data entry. A few crashes so far on day 1

Lack of Product Is integration and Support. We have been waiting 3 years for re integration between Expensify and Amex Corp Business Card. Lots of promises from your CEO, David, but no delivery!!!!!

Waste of time and money. They turn on features automatically which means you end up double handling receipts. Then you can’t figure out how to turn it off. The only redeeming feature of this app is that it can scan your receipts for the “details” and upload them for you. But the feature is so slow, you end up doing it manually anyway. Not a great experience and when you complain, you get a “I’ll pass that on”. For an app with a monthly “fee” it’s a complete waste of time and money.

Time waster. Hard to use and navigate. Messages disappear. What are 'policies'. Somewhere it said you can upload receipts manually if you have a bunch to do last minute. But this option is impossible to find. It only offers smart scan which is too limited. Wasted a lot of time with this.

Confusing and expensive. The free trial was great but after expiry I couldn’t access all my scanned receipts. They only showed a blurry preview. Not cool. Lost tons of money in tax return because of this.

Worst support, scam. Out of sudden, they charged me $21, said that I have another users. I checked my profile and I have only 1 user. I asked for refund and they just ignore it and gave me another $21 bill yesterday. Worst of the worst

User Friendly is an understatement. So easy to use and the customer service was on point. Great app!

Good, but too many clicks. App is convenient but they’ve added extra clicks when scanning an expense...so minus 1 star...

Terrible support via chat. Tried setting up this app only to get stuck on an email verification error. Spent an hour being taken around in circles by the support people via chat only to be given a workaround I could have been given in first 5 minutes. Responder also arrogant and no apology for the time wasted.

Not reliable. Smart scan fails constantly.. User for a year. Worked fine to begin with. Then, an update. App no longer scans receipts. Has been an issue for 3 months. After hours on chat, all they can suggest is I enter in manually. What’s the point of the app? Reporting incident to regulator.

Best expense app. Last company used Concur but Expensify blows the old experience away. No more create a report and attaching receipts. Just take a photo and you are done.

Magic Link makes Expensify unusable. The new magic link login makes Expensify practically unusable. I don’t have my work email on my phone, so I can’t receive the login link unless I’m in front of my computer. So no more uploading travel receipts as I go - which used to be the biggest benefit of Expensify

Good luck if you want to cancel. I wish I could give zero stars. Hopeless. I’ve had to activate an account I never created.....I WOULD NEVER have needed what they offer, got feed up with their emails, so had to activate an account. I did, opened it and was directed to app. I installed the app, tried “live chat”but now find I need a desktop to cancel my account. I don’t have a desktop, never had one, have contacted the supposedly live chat, sent that info to them, and so far nothing. If their business is run this badly, I’d recommend people stay away like the plague.

What a Scam!. Unsubscribed from an annual subscription several months ago on the basis that the account would revert to an unpaid account. I have subsequently found that at the end of the subscription period Expensify starting charging me $60 (4 times the subscription about). The Concierge other than acknowledging that I’d cancelled the subscription … refused to respond to any questions related to the overcharging and the closing of the account. And the website … isn’t allowing me to close the account either … as I’m getting an reoccurring message, saying it’s processing information in the background and unable to close. What a scam!

Not Ethical! Disappointing!. When I first started using the app it was great, then all of sudden the smart scanning became faulty and stopped working properly. I was not provided with clear instructions, leading me into a policy I did not want and being charged a lot for a simple service (all I need it for is to scan receipts). I was also not notified before I was charged more or when there was an increase in fees, and therefore was forced into a subscription I did not want because my account was charged automatically. I believe the app to be faulty as I also disabled “auto-renew” and then was charged automatically for another 12 month subscription which I can now not get out of, nor can I delete my account because of this subscription I did want in the first place! When I explained this (repeatedly) I was given the same information (that I’m committed to the subscription). When I’ve requested a refund and wished to delete my account I have been ignored.

Great help to organise expenses. If you are a person who is always on the road and have no time to organise your expenses, AND in most of the time the receipts get LOST?!?!? This app is for you. Take a photo of the receipt, you can forget about it until you have time to sit down, tidy up and submit them. The app also help identify the merchant and amount spent. Overall, fantastic!

Faulty ap. No clear instructions.. I was after a simple way of keeping track receipts from my business travel and personal taxes. Looking at the reviews, I saw got excited. Unfortunately this ap does not cut it, I really do not understand why it is so difficult to create something that does this. 1) the ap is buggy, my account will never validate and 2) once you scan the receipts, it’s not clear exactly how to generate reports. There’s a “friendly” AI type concierge who keeps telling me that he will take care of everything, but I’m really not sure what exactly this ap is meant to do and how. Stick to excel and manual scans.

Easy to use.. The app works as promised.

Broken on iOS 14. I can't save modifications to expenses or submit reports with the app on iOS 14. Not having the app updated to work for new iOS releases that spend literally months in beta really isn't good enough, especially when the mobile site forces you to use the app. Would give zero stars if I could.

Exceptionally buggy - poor customer support. The app breaks all the time and loses its connection to the bank. No automation. If you set up rules, they system doesn’t follow them and you have to manually adjust them. Support is poor. They just apologise for the inconvenience and never get back to you. Would not recommend, incredibly manual and laborious process.

Stingy trial period. No idea how I can get an idea of how the system works if I am limited in scanning and uploading receipts. I will just keep using my photo app and Expenses Folder. I can’t be arsed trialing an app that is that constrictive.

Rip off. In my account details it literally says I am on $7/month plan, yet I have been charged $27 a fortnight for last cpl payments. I questioned it after the first charge, no help, questioned it again after the second charge, they wrote back directions of how to change plan, did not acknowledge error, offer refund or anything. I’ll be using the free ATO app. Forget this app.

Crashes and disappointment.. I cannot believe how unusable this app is due to it constantly crashing while not remembering what I was doing before it crashed, and having glitches such as things not being where they should be. Doesn’t matter, I’ve found better apps. Glad to support better smaller companies.

Spectacularly useless. Making accounting of expenses tedious, time consuming and frustrating through poor automation and non-intuitive UI is all in scope for this digital abomination. It’s hard to describe just how bad the user experience is. All sorts of nice sounding features with titles chosen by marketing focus groups, yet hardly any actual, useful help functions. Avoid. Just stay well away. Update after contact from developer “Please use our cutely titled but useless help system to resolve your issues with our cutely titled but useless help system.” Uh huh.

Unreliable. The app queued five receipt submissions. I’d considered the receipts were no longer needed. A few days later I went to make another claim and the app advised my previous 5 receipts hadn’t gone through. The app then crashed and lost all of my queued receipts. Just glad I hadn’t binned the original paper receipts which I had to resubmit.

Great App for business users. Fantastic phone app saves me time and effort when travelling

Don’t waste your time. Downloaded the app and that’s where the smoothness of the app ended it wouldn’t scan any receipts I couldn’t contact the tech for support. Lol

Reimbursements are a breeze. Expensify makes it so easy to process work related travel expenses. I love that I can use it to take a picture of a receipt the second it’s handed to me, then just bin that thing and get on with my day. Love the forward-receipts-by-email feature too!

Expensify are great. Nice and easy to use mobile iOS app.

Crashes Often. This app crashes often and has loads of bugs even this feedback is is a white text on a white background.

Expenses on the plane. I would like to be able to do my expenses when I travel without wifi on my laptop. Otherwise this is a terrific app.

Useful app. A little “too smart” for solo/freelance people. A great service. Very convenient to make sure you don’t lose track of receipts and it makes it way easier to historically dig up receipts. One issue I have with the app is it’s a little “too smart” for a lot of people. I essentially use it as a fancy receipt scanner that exports to PDF on an ad-hoc basis. The app really wants me to integrate into a bigger account/service including other accounting tools and even different approvals. It’s annoying having to dismiss that wizard often!

An update that works. This last update has speeded up everything and improved the reader 100%. It’s now even easier to use and you get reports straight away. Well done!

Doesn’t work all the time. Good idea, worked well for first couple of recipes. Now stuck “uploading” and also continually asks me to verify my email - which I have done. Sending recipes to their email address worked once, does not work now. Don’t have time for this, will delete.

Closing of reports early. Why does it close off a report before I wish for it to be closed. February report closed on the 11/2 when I wished for it to be closed at the end of February.

Beware the true cost of this programme. The programme is capable I think however you do not get the ability to even view the basic inputs you have entered. To get a view of the flags “billable” and “reimbursable” you enter with each expense, the monthly subscription cost increases from AUD 10 to almost AUD 20.

Sometimes works. I used to love this app but after a couple of recent updates the performance has really dropped to the point it’s almost unusable :(

Terrific app but. Terrific app but once you submit a report, you cannot adjust the invoices or the title of the report again?

The best expense tool on the planet. Expensify has made my life so much easier. I have now rolled it out into all 3 of my businesses

A rude application. Expenify works fairly well but it is rude. Its standard description of an item not yet acquittes is a ‘violation’. Given there are standard time frames to complete the process to describe a ourchase as a violation the moment it happens is absurd.

So easy to use and keeps all records in a way which is easy to find. So easy to use and keeps all records in a way which is easy to find

Brilliant. Can't live without it.

Excellent App. Excellent App. Often struggles with scanning receipts, so 90% of the time I photograph the receipt using the app and input details manually to ensure accuracy. Doesn't seem to allow multiple attachments for a single expense. Overall, I like it, and once you are are used to it it's very quick

Useless. I have been a paid user for a couple of years and was happy to see the mobile app released. But no google authentication??? Pretty much makes it useless to me as that is what I use to access the service

Hard to log back always asking for code. Very annoying

No Canadian banks. Didn't even get to try it out. You can't link any Canadian credit cards or personal bank accounts. If i can't do that why bother using it at all

Forces use in both ends. Frustrating that the recipient has to use the app to view. Why can’t I just download the report? Not good

App is so slow. Needs wirk

Excellent Support. Amazing customer support.

Terrible Customer Service. Spent countless hours trying to get help to set up more than one credit card. All you get are pre-scripted answers that ignores your problem, answers, etc... Waste of time.

Unnecessary notifications. I don’t need push notifications at 5:30 AM reminding me to submit an expense report that isn’t supposed to be submitted yet. There seems to be no way to turn that off without disabling all notifications.

Expensify is a. Expensify is the most pathetic way for me to send expenses to my employer Can’t figure anything on it Looks simple but isn’t Constantly breaks down I used concur for 15 years no issues simple easy to install Sorry the system is pathetic

Can’t login anymore. Can no longer login to the app via any method - email, google, or phone number.

DO NOT GET THIS APP!!. This app is so bad I don’t even know where to start! Read all the recent comments and decide for yourself. Do not get this app! You’ve been warned!

System crashes. I select start gps and when I get to my destination I go to stop it but the system is asking me for my log in credentials. I enter them. My live gps tracking is dropped and I have to enter manually. I get it if it happens from time to time, but every day some time 2-3 times sucks.

wanted to love. great reviews, awkward on boarding experience.. Poor CX Service. Poor CX listening skills. 1. was so hard for me to find a way to contact them — still haven’t found, through their public website, signed in profile page, app store page — without reaching out to a public community, when i have private account questions. 2. will contact to ask for all of my money back that i’ve been paying for the last half year, as i’ve been seeing within the app a glitch that says my free trial has expired, but apple confirms i am a paying subscriber — and i’ve tried signing out and back in, and it continues to say trial expired 3. although the ui is quite satisfactory, i would appreciate if it were a little more flexible and logical — ie, being able to search receipts by merchant name as one simple request (maybe that’s not showing as part of the glitch i mentioned above). 4. possibly because of this glitch, now when i’m needing to reference my scanned receipts, none of the listings show a merchant name, total spend, etc, which was the whole reason i subscribed to this paid service. mainly not to happy with how hidden it is to make contact with your team, as a paying customer (and developer). looking for refund when possible please. i’ll contact you again by some means if i don’t see a reply in the on here — understandably. jerome

Lots of false “violations” - bug?. I’ve been a long time and happy user but the latest software update seems to be buggy. I receive “violation “ notices for every expense but with no direction on what needs to be fixed.

No files support. It can only submit receipts that are photos and can’t upload pdfs from the Files app

Tedious, annoying and difficult. Need to fumble through all the steps and when I ask the concierge a question they seem to know as much as I do and have not really helped with any of the steps or submissions so far. I either skip claiming back expenses or try to go through other methods to avoid Expensify due to all the hoops and irritation of trying to use this program. It seems more like a lazy accountant trying to have most of their job done for them, giving the submitter extra work to do. If the idea is to turn an employee off of submitting expenses to save money, then this is great for the business, but it is enough frustration to keep me away as much as I can avoid it. This program even makes it difficult to submit a review. Another waste of my time.

No pdfs are accepted. No way to attach a pdf to and expense, that’s pretty embarrassing for an app that does expenses which often come in form of pdf invoices

It works. I submit receipts, someone gives me money. Can’t complain. Easy enough.

Worst ever. Absolutely terrible customer service. They have no email and no phone. The online is a Bot only. Once they have your CC information you cannot stop them from billing. I had to cancel my CC and dispute charges as fraudulent.

WAS good, now its a pain. The new authentication system they put in place is horrendous. No choice and now I’m constantly logged out. The beauty of a phone app is that you should be able to scan a receipt quickly and on the go. Now im waiting for some email to come through. Poor choice guys

$1300 BILLING FRAUD! DO NOT USE EXPENSIFY!!!!!. I have reached out to every email in every department 5 times, as well as the CEO David Barrett, and I have received no help at all. The only semi helpful person is one man in the sign ups department who had discovered that i've been on a control plan when I actually signed up for a personal plan. I only used Expensify for a few receipts, and have no one else linked to the account, 1 user only. I would never willingly sign up for any more than that and in my expense reports you will see I am the only one who ever submits anything in all 3 years. I only ever have used and needed the most basic service of scanning receipts which is free under 25 transactions which I have had nearly every month for 3 years, and despite making all that clear and asking why I am being billed so much every month and explained I been overbilled by $1300 from an error caused by expensify. after 20 emails BATTLING back and fourth, concierge discovered my account was auto set to 7 users. This was not changed to 7 users by me, because I never even knew of or seen the policies tab and the option to change users til I was told about it. Sadly, after a very painful battle with support, only a small potion was refunded, and too bad about your loss for the rest because "our decision is final" This is like, if I went to a store and bought a bottle of water for $1 and it charged me $1300, so I went back and asked for the overbilled money back, and the cashier said "we don't normally do refunds but I will give you $300 back and you will just have to lose the other $1000. my decision is final". How would you feel if that happend to you? is that FAIR? The concierge support has only sent generic responses that have not helped. I have tried literally everything to get some REAL help and all I get is bots. If I use pure cap locks I sometimes get what seems like a real person, but the answers are cold, dismissive, and non educational. in contrast, I just talked to adobe support and saw I was auto subscribed and billed for a plan that I didn't want or need for 10 months, and I told them about it and then refunded me immediately. that took 5 minutes and everything was solved. Thats how support SHOULD work. Expensify is overbilling me and then not giving the overbilled money back. It comes across very greedy, criminal, and extremely incompassionate to their customers. To make matters worse, I am now apparently not allowed to remove this control plan that I never wanted or needed til the annual cycle is done. Expensify signed me up for it on their end when they adjusted the 7 users thing and now say I am binded to it!!! I tried to change to a personal plan but I was charged ANOTHER $4.99 on TOP of the $20 a month for the useless control plan! And I submitted no Receipts so I shouldn't EVEN be charged 4.99, it says free up to 25 reciepts!!! This is criminal. This is so wrong on so many levels. I feel extremely violated by Expensify and their crooked support team. It makes me want to throw up. I always have and only want the basic plan which is free for up to 25 transactions! To summarise the issues: issue 1: being overcharged $1300 and only getting $300 back. I need the rest back. issue 2: being STUCK on control plan they put me on whereas I've only ever wanted the personal plan and have no use for the extra functionality. issue 3: being double billed for the $4.99 basic plan on TOP of the $20 a month for the useless control plan! it says free up to 25 reciepts! issue 4: expensify handling this situation is the most ignorant, terrible, heartless way possible. If anyone in this company actually cares for their customers, someone will reach out who can actually rectify this situation. If your reading this it means Expensify still is stealing from me every month against my will.

Does what you need it to do. Simple and effective. Mainly use Expensify via a web browser but the app is great for tracking meal expenses and mileage when on the road. Would be nice if the app supported importing receipts from files or if it supported sharing pdfs to it to start a declaration of an expense. Would be useful for us iPad users

Great customer service. I just started my account and had immediate customer support and very quick email response.

Amazing app 10/10. This is the best app ever made and it changed my life

Not accurate enough!. Just finished loading hundreds of receipts into this thing and there are so many mistakes I have to go back through each one and verify so I may as well have done it all manually myself. Waste of my time!

Worst App Ever. Warning: pure digital harassment. Avoid avoid avoid downloading or you’ll never be able to escape its crap.

Spammy. I sent my expense report to someone and they spammed them with an offer to join the app.

Expensify. Best expense app!

The best I’ve tried. I don’t have an accounting background. The app worked well for me from the start (2012?) and every time I use it I learn something new and get better at keeping my records. I worked for a small business person using QuickBooks, and maybe she didn’t have it set up right, but it was 4x the work to enter basically the same expenses I track in my business

Easy to use and works well. Have been using the service for almost 2 years and it works well and is easy for a 50+ year old who is not super tech savvy. The concierge service is quite quick and efficient when one does run into an issue. Much better than many other apps I use. Highly Recommend if you need to track expenses and submit .

Très bonne application. Il me reste juste savoir comment envoyer les données sous un format csv. Merci 🤩

Magic code system is terrible. Don’t force your subpar login system on users when some of us already have strong passwords and 2FA.

Good App but needs Dark Mode. Good app. But it needs dark mode for users like myself. Also, it would be really great if you could introduce Expensify corporate card in Canada.

Avoid this service. Their integration with smaller banks is impossible. I tried connecting our bank account and sunk in about 30 hours with no success. Then we stopped using it and I forgot about it for a while and then realized we weren’t using it and elected to “close my account”. What this did was essentially nothing because I was charged two subsequent months for “activity” as it was not closed but changed to a pay as you go service. I’m still not clear on what “activity it was as I logged in today since I was billed again. When I asked to actually close my account and for a refund for the two months that I had not used it, they said I couldn’t get a refund as there was activity in those two months. Now to close it, I need to pay another month fee for it to happen. Also, they don’t have people to talk to. Do yourself a favor, find a company that a service department that you can speak with when you need help, and one that doesn’t connive you I to additional fees after you “close” you account.

I can’t get the app to open. I couldn’t get it to work on my iPhone 7 Now it’s not working on Xs is it due for updating?

Impossible to cancel. If you are happy with perpetual payments - sign up and give them your credit card. But beware it is almost impossible to leave. Hotel California! Will need to make a stop payment by credit card company it appears. Decent app but when we decided to go in a different direction they just kept charging monthly fees always suggesting we hadnt “settled” the precious month. Avoid

Love this app. 5 stars. Simple but effective

Why would you get rid of the Submit button?. How do I submit my reports now?!

Bad App Managed by Bad People. The app is useless and unethical. All it does is collect your private and banking information. Privacy is horrible. ALSO!! The developers spam your email with who they want you to VOTE for! Can you believe it!? That is the most disgusting email anyone can receive from an app! I received an email written by this useless app’s management, NAMING a presidential candidate! Hey Expensify you don’t get to tell people who to vote for! Stick to your useless app! I deleted this useless app! And I vote that nobody supports any disgusting developer who harasses you with their petty political opinion. This is not what our email address is for. This raises a critical question. Is China or Russia behind these interference email!? Unethical however you look at it! Protect democracy!

Over rated. Would not recommend. Ease of use not good. Hard to use.

Unrequested junk emails. On the very first day I downloaded it, Expensify sent me a junk email ( would you recommend this app) with no option to unsubscribe. They told me the only way to unsubscribe is to delete my account, which I did promptly. If you do not like junk emails in your inbox, do not download.

Underwhelming Experience. - “concierge” chat bot is automated with limited actual support functionality - preset exchange rate doesn’t allow you to use the exchange rate applied by bank or credit card on a foreign transaction - inability to select multiple expenses at once, or “split” an expense by a prescribed ratio… just cumbersome - “submitted” expense report - and emails didn’t send, now marked as closed…

No more receipts!!. Simple to use, backup and the report all your expenses. Best of all no more paper receipts to keep around and organize or loose!

It’s alright decent if you’re consistent. Decent app BUT the desktop version is what I want and u can’t access half those features from phone or iPad which is ANNOYING. I just want that flippin pie chart

Karma charity is clicked as yes by default. Can’t cancel this. Really frustrating that they have added click through screen that signs you up to contribute to their charity using “yes” as a default . Cannot see how to cancel this without canceling the account. I find this practice ethically offensive

Magic codes don’t work!!. Crap

Avoid this product. Connections break hourly rendering the product useless. Support is clueless.

Can’t upload documents. Most of my receipts are online and it would be great to upload them instead of having to email them to be uploaded.

Don’t want this app.. Very difficult to cancel. Scam.

not worth it because of the emails. When you set up an account, there is an AI “concierge” that helps you through setup. It also sends you endless l emails that have no unsubscribe option. Furthermore, be prepared to get sketchy emails asking you to refer your friends… it’s all very strange. I also can’t close my account, I keep getting an error message.

Sad Turn for this Company. I used Expensify years ago and loved it. In the early days it had few features but they worked well. I have come back to needing an expense tracker and defaulted to Expensify. Sadly it’s now garbage. I could go on for pages but some key issues that are horrific: expense categories get reset constantly, web browser is totally different than mobile app in extreme ways, new Expensify is even worse being focused on just chat and message versus actual expenses, the mobile app has more functions than browser so I am spending way to much time typing on iPhone when I could be faster on laptop but browser doesn’t allow many functions. Highly not recommended. They should be flushed in the toilet.

Perfect App. This app has no flaws, works perfectly every time. Of course sometimes you have to enter a merchant name when you are in a place not using English. I go to Cyrillic using countries and it won’t read it but usually gets the total spent captured. Easy to add your own expense categories. Wonderful web interface where you can export reports in Excel then play around, change and sort.

Unethical and confusing business practices. As many others have said, watch out! If you have an annual subscription, they will NOT send you any reminders. Instead they will automatically switch you to a per user subscription at 4x the original price. Then, only offer you a 50% “discount” after you’ve paid that, which is still DOUBLE your prior subscription price. You cannot cancel and they will not work with you whatsoever to rectify the situation and keep you as a happy customer. Instead they will try to blame you the user. For someone that doesn’t use the software on a regular basis, it’s a trap. Terrible customer service. Do NOT use this software!

A real time saver.... Literally!. I'm very happy to have discovered this app. For years I had relied solely on pen, paper, & staples to keep track of my work expenses, mileage, and hours. There were more than a few occasions where I'd forget to carry a pen .... lose a receipt.... Etc. I don't have to worry about any of those annoyances using this app. Everything is well organized and the interface is very user friendly. Id highly recommend getting this app to any record keeping professional.

receipts scanning not as great as i’d hoped. i’m testing apps for receipt scanning and saving. the scanning and OCR are much much slower than 2 other scan/save apps (quickscan, evernote scannable) but i was excited about the categorizing—pulls out merchant, date and total. 2nd scan it listed the total as $29 on a receipt for $99 so some data entry required. also doesn’t crop. i guess it’s ok for low volume use, free account. the other 2 free apps auto scan, crop, straighten just point. this requires shooting it exactly like using your camera app.

Solid customer service. I had an issue changing the phone number linked to my account. Customer service helped me to sort out the problem. So upgrading my rating. But would be even better to have a simpler, less tedious way to change the phone number and to do it through the mobile app itself instead of being forced to go to the website. Solid useful app.

No Manual Receipt Matching. SmartScan is nice in theory but does not accurately match receipts with imported CC expense line items. This apps developers refuse to add manual receipt matching functionality and hence our whole organizations struggles with the tedious process of switching uploaded receipts to other reports and merging them with existing expenses (rather than simply being able to attach a receipt that has been uploaded previously). Tedious and time consuming barely scratches the surface of the frustration this causes of myself and colleagues. Why their engineering team won’t add this basic functionality is beyond me. 1 star until they make it more user friendly. Note: this functionality was previously available but was removed in the last major UI update.

Stopped Working!. I started with a “free” trial for 5 Smartscans. The app makes it so easy to scan receipts that I upgraded to unlimited scans. It was working fine then all of a sudden I would occasionally get an error message telling me I was out of SmartScans even though I had already paid for (and been using) the upgrade for unlimited scans. I cannot find any information on the web nor community site to figure out what is wrong. I have posted and emailed. We’ll see if I get help from support.

Missing a key feature and can’t access the web app from mobile 🤷‍♂️. ‪Huge pet peeve: When I’m unable to perform an action on a service’s mobile app, I visit their web app in hopes of performing that action, and their web app (when viewed from a mobile browser) only allows me open the mobile app to do anything. I would have rated this 5 stars if not for the above experience. I was hoping to fill out an expense report with a pdf that was saved to my files in iCloud. Sadly, the mobile app only allows me to upload photos, not files.

Good app, but missing key features. Expensify as a platform is awesome, but the mobile app is missing some key features that make it difficult to create expense reports efficiently (both of these features are available on the website): 1) Add support for filtering expenses by date range. The expenses list resets to the top every time I add an expense - quite annoying. I have to scroll down every time I want to add a new expense to a report. 2) Add support for filtering / searching expenses on key words (eg. “American Airlines”). This combined with the lack of time range filtering make it quite difficult to find unique expenses. 3) Add support for bulk tagging multiple expenses for to the same report. Often expense reports tied to a particular trip will be bunches together (since they occur on the same day / set of days). Despite this, I still have to add them one by one. The lack of filtering based on time range makes this extremely annoying.

Clunky and confusing so far. I downloaded this app last night after searching for a way to track my mileage and receipts for a independent contractor job I'm working. As someone who's pretty good at technology, this app is so hard to understand. The "Concierge" service makes this app completely confusing and if I hadn't read a review about how someone inadvertently created a "policy," I would be getting charged in a few weeks also because I clicked one wrong box. I'll stick this out for a while, but this app really needs a better help section and the Concierge service needs to be more up front about charging the user after a free trial.

Buggy, confusing UI, lousy PDF support, spam email from CEO. I’m glad I only have to use this app once a quarter. It has long-standing bugs which haven’t been addressed (example: create a new report, give it a title, add an expense, go back to report. Surprise! The title you have the report has been forgotten). Also, want to upload PDF statements? Good luck with that. Click around for 5 minutes before heading to Google to find out that you need to send them via email - because 2021. But wait, there’s an Easter egg: Now they have your email address, the CEO feels to send you unsolicited pontifications periodically. His time would be better spent doing some basic QA.

Not good for corporate structure. They use a versionless platform so the admin is at Expensify’s mercy when unwanted upgrades rollout. Most of the time I find out about an upgrade when a user asks a question. They are also relentless at pushing their own credit card. Users receive frequent notifications to “ask the admin” for their corporate card even when the Corp has a different card provider in place. It confuses users and wastes everyone’s time. In addition Expensify does not understand the customer / vendor relationship. They will go around the admin and push products directly to the users in an attempt to get the users to ask the admins why the functionality isn’t enabled. Again leaving the users confused and wasting everyone’s time. Oh and by the way, they even go as far as to go around the admin and send inflammatory political emails to your users as well!!! The system looks and functions as expected but any time saved was offset by boneheaded communications sent by their CEO.

Beware Of Concierge...Buyer Beware. In theory, the app appears to provide the ability to simplify the expense tracking and reimbursement process. However, when you dive in you realize you need to be an expert on the app to make it work. The app is supposed to simplify the process, not complicate it. Then, when you try to get support through Concierge, it is even more difficult to understand. Concierge seems like it is designed to give quick responses......but the responses tend to be just links to help documents. I wish I would have read all the reviews before signing up for an annual plan. Now I am stuck with 8 more months of a service I did not understand. BUYER BEWARE

Used to be easy. Changed my review from one star to three. Expensify is making the app do more, which is probably great for big corporate power users, but I really got used to “simple”when I first started using the app several years ago. It’s still useful for me but I have to dig into its workings more so than before (not as intuitive). I think it would be great if my company went exclusively with Expensify but they’re just not ready. They’re integrating Sharepoint which is enough stress. I will keep using expensify and recommend it. It’s still a net time saver.

Great experience!. I downloaded this app not realizing that it wasn’t what I was looking for for my business. However, during the time that I used this app, the concierge chat feature was so helpful! I always received support when needed, and customer service was impeccable! I would definitely recommend this app for anyone who needs these types of services. You will never be left hanging. Amazing experience!

A good program with a few hiccups. We are going to organization that has a workforce spread across three states. Expenses were always a challenge both in collecting them and then and Getting the money back to our folks promptly. It’s program has helped us immensely. It required little training and development and it was easy for almost everyone know understand and of course today everyone has at least one if not two or three cell phones. It’s a good program, it was well thought out and well developed

Not well - err, just not tested. Seems like i good app, it let me in, i added some recipts, then it said to click the validation link it sent, well i dont gave one and theres no way to resend it or even check/change which ‘email’ its sent to (where email means email or phone). Well you can log out and try again and it sends you a link but since your on your phone the link goes to the website, the website forces you to use the app, and redirects you to the app store, where you can see that you have already downloaded the app. You proceed to the app to find that the login has not succeeded. This is not a sneaky bug, it is literally just the expected sequence of steps, the most obvious bug imaginable.

It works. Mostly. As the title says, it does work for the most part. I use it for input only not the reporting features it creates. It captures a photo, not a scan so that makes it difficult to get the receipt in. If there are multiple pages I generally use a pdf scanner app and import them in. I gave up a while back letting it scan and fill in the receipt as I was getting a lot of bad input that I had to redo anyways. It does do good when I manually input all the fields from the scanned receipt though.

Excellent. I am CEO of a 250 person software business. Expenses can be a messy business but expensify has made things very easy. The mobile app is excellent, the auto scan of receipts mostly works, the system can deal with per diems and mileage and our CFO tells me it integrates easily into our NetSuite accounting software. The approvals process is also flexible and streamlined I am spending the time to write a detailed review as some software companies really deserve credit - Expensify is excellent in all regards and I can’t recommend it highly enough. BUY OR TRIAL IT NOW!!

Crashes and loses receipts. This app is very buggy. It crashes everytime I upload a photo for manual miles and I try to switch to photos app to see how many miles it was. Also several times I would take a picture of the receipt through the app and it would somehow get lost so I’ve earned to take the photo with the camera app then upload it. It’s an extra step but that’s what I have to do since this app is so buggy.

Great potential, but..... Managing expenses is a burden that many of us struggle with. Expensify has the potential to be the best tool available. However, I am left with the feeling that the coders have never actually had to use the app to manage their own expenses there are so many ways the app could be better with a few simple changes. The aim of this should be to reduce clicks required to enter an expense. Here are my top ideas: 1. When you click new expense, a box appears asking if you want to create a new expense? Why? 2. When entering an expense I want to check the category every time. On an iPhone that requires clicking on more options to see it. Why? That should be on the main screen. 3. Finally, when entering $, why not eliminate the decimal point and fill the decimal automatically? Bank of America do this on their app as it is very good. Again eliminates a click. Mark.

Amazed but still room for improvement.. 1. An option to individually see what product I purchased and make it search-able so as to know how much did I spend this year on ice cream alone with the list of their dates I bought them. Since I’m already uploading all my receipts to your server. 🧾 This one has a bigger story to it. I buy stuff for me and my roommate when I’m out and then when I meet him at home, we look at the receipt 🧾 for hours and figure out what product belongs to whom and how much money should he give me for the stuff that I bought and brought to him. That’s a huge pain on a daily bases. It would be a merciless if this app solved this problem. 2. This needs to be there already. A built in receipt scanner so that it crops and aligned the corners of the receipt and store it elegantly. Thanks and I hope 🤞🏻 someone from the team who made this app reads this. Thanks for dedicating the time to building this app.

Scam pricing. Started using this app in 2017 after it was recommended by an expert. Not as helpful as I hoped. Couldn’t email expense reports because they got caught in spam filters. Not so helpful for my taxes. Now to pricing: Free at first, then had to pay for privilege of unlimited scanning (worth it), chose month to month. Website advertised annual subscription so I switched. Then I find out they charged me for two users all year long when it was just one. Lastly, they inform me no refund. I will actually have to pay the difference between the month to month and the annual subscription. Ridiculous! I am a busy professional and am not inclined to continue a relationship with a company with such arcane business policies.

Awful app- slow functionality and no “undo” option. I started using this app and liked for all of my expenses until I recently put in place an expense rule that was too broad and had all of my expenses recharacterized. Shockingly, there was no way to “undo” the application of this rule and the months of my diligent work with Expensify went out the window. There was also _no_ warning message such as “are you sure you want to apply this rule to so many expenses?” Or something like that. I do not recommend this app, and certainly not the paid subscription, until there is a way to back up or manage the application of rules to make sure they are applied correctly.

Great Customer Service. Recently, I got confused when I wanted to edit my categories - I tried the chat and immediately got a guide with an explanation on how to do what I wanted. I ran into a little issue so I left my phone number for a support call. They called within 30 min, but I had figured the issue out on my own so I didn’t answer. They then followed up with email and texts to make sure I was OK and no longer had any questions. Pretty impressive customer service I think!

Best online customer service ever. I love the app too, but I just wanted to say that the Concierge chat service is hands-down the best online help service I’ve ever used. They keep going until they solve the problem and their instructions are word-for-word and so easy to follow. I have never had a question not answered nor a problem not solved even if they involve 3rd party synchronization issues where the problem is on the other end. You set the bar for online help!

Solid App. Overall it is a quality app. Easy to perform critical tasks. The one complaint I have is that the primary screen on app launch feels fairly useless to me. Add to that the fact that every other navigation item is hidden behind a drawer and it takes me several taps to arrive where I need to be. I’d rather see a tab bar navigation at the bottom of the app and some useful ever-present content on the main screen, e.g. recent expenses/reports widget.

Not all that good plus comes with a lot of garbage. Even before the CEO sent out a sanctimonious opinion rant, I was ready to delete this app. it’s clunky, hard to use, and requires way too many inputs to make it useful for dealing with lots of expenses. You have to pay an arm and a leg if you want the auto features. What I didn’t know at the time that I downloaded it was all of the crappy spam emails that I was going to receive once I got it. They come nonstop day after day. I’m pretty sure they sold my email too, since I got a ton of other junk mail along with it right after I signed up. Save yourself the trouble and don’t bother with this platform. There are much better ones out there.

Helps out during the trying times. This app has a good mission. I was recommended to upload my EBT purchases to it. To my surprise a amount was deposited directly into my checking account three weeks later. It’s not much but it helped with a week of emergency groceries and can keep me afloat (and out of grocery stores) so I can stay healthy and not spread COVID19 or put my community at risk. The app is easy to use and customer service is great. Thank you for all you do Expensify!

Validation link doesn’t work so can’t use app. I’ve no idea of the actual functionality of the app, because the log in leads to a message saying to click the “magic” link in an email to validate the account, which when clicked leads to a link to download the app at the App Store... which leads to the app, which leads to the log in, which leads to a message asking for the “magic” link. No progress, just an endless loop. The “magic” part is that I actually spent time trying to get this to work five different ways, including different combinations of re-sending email, turning the phone off and on, and uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. Yes, the OS is up to date. The app validation just plain does not work.

Disgustingly horrific design and lacking basic features. This is the most used expense reporting app? The only way that is possible is they did a deal with the NSA to share all users’ activity. Even some of the most basic capabilities are absent. And tech support? Oh boy, I get to talk to an AI bot. Get to a live person for a real answer? Let’s hide that capability so that it takes them 20 minutes, if ever, to find a problem submittal page or email. Don’t even wish for a tech support phone number. I guess our society’s low standards for an app is roughly equivalent to the competence of the people we put into positions of political leadership.

Like but could be better. I like the app like the capture feature. What I don't like is the app closing my expense trip before I am done update the expense and then not allowing me to go back and edit. I travel for my business I just started using the app and creat my travel report start to put items in as they happened and both reports closed and submitted before I was finished completing them, you can't go back and edit before submitting for approval not that I need to approve it, I just do it for keeping track for tax purposes... maybe I am missing how to fix reports.

Amazing Receipt App. I used the free version happily for a number of months. Then my company took it on-board and has been using it for a few years. I work in about 15 different currency countries and it manages all of them with the awesome feature smartscan. You need to double-check the report it creates, but that is a very fast re-look adjusting usually currency mistakes that are easy to spot. I am extremely happy with this app. It’s simple or complex depending on what you need.

Oh, the potential .... Sadly, Expensify is what I’d call a “dumb app”. It does a fantastic job of capturing receipts and scanning them for appropriate data. Oddly, it grabs the data from my doctor’s hand-written receipts well, but won’t recognize the data from a few large retailers. Anyway, that’s sadly pretty much all it does. There are no sorting or categorizing abilities in the reports, you just manually construct them by selecting receipts you want to be part of it. To me it simply feels like a job only halfway done. That half is very good, but just not enough for what our devices and the developers are capable of.

Expensify is a win-win-win for all of us!. When I have a “problem” with Expensify it’s usually something I have done wrong or haven’t taken the time to learn. Regardless, the Concierge people are quick to respond with solutions and even take the time to follow up with me to make sure I’ve solved my problem. This app saves me hours of preparation and saves our accounts payables manager robs of time also. Expensify has been a win-win-win for all of us!!!

Businesses, don’t use this service!. Whatever you do, don’t get caught in a contract with Expensify! And god forbid you need to communicate with them, it’s absolutely frustrating. I opened multiple chat windows with ‘concierge’ because they would take 20 mins- an hour to respond to EACH message I sent. It shows they are active and yet every sentence you send takes them 20 minutes to reply. It took 3 hours before I gave up on them helping me with my issue. I would NOT recommend Expensify to any organization. Pro Tip- if your company uses American Express, submit receipts using their ‘Spend Manager’ app! It’s absolutely free and Amex’s customer service is light years better.

Keeps uploading. I’m a paying customer, not just using the free version. The app continues to ask me to have access to my contacts! Why? You do not need access for expense reports! Remove the annoying screen asking for permission that pops up every time I open the app. I want to open and record and expense! Is that to much to ask??? I finally allow Expensify to access to my contacts to remove the annoying message, and then immediately removed it. Now when I try record an expense, it just spins and and states uploading. So dumb!

Keeps dropping my account. The newest feature of this app is political comments from the CEO and emails supporting specific candidates... A serious departure from good and dependable business practices. I was an early adopter of this app and I loved it. I have now been using it for eight or nine years and over the past year the service level has dropped and about every three or four months my account gets dropped and reverts to the “free“ version and limits how many scans I get. The online “concierge” never seems to get the essence of the question or request these days and I am now looking for a more reliable app for expense tracking. It was good but has seriously degraded lately.

Very easy to use UNLESS you need support. Expensify is a very easy expense reporting program. The best I’ve used. BUT the customer support is VERY bad. There’s no option to call and speak to a live person. I’ve had my card shut off for various reasons when I had important events to pay for. The only option is to “chat” with support. Sometimes support is quick to respond, other times it is slow and you get a rude person with a bad attitude that is not helpful. My card was shut down for 2 days with suspicion of fraudulent charges, immediately after the first charge denial I messaged them to tell the it wasn’t fraud. Two days later it was fixed.

Bad. Your app drops half the receipts my or others post. When using the app, I use the camera function to immediately take a photo of my receipts and fill out all the detail asked. Most of the ones I mark as Corporate end up showing up days later in violation with none of the information I filled out of the photo of the receipts. Menards receipts are another one that myself and other coworkers have deleting themselves abs showing up in violations a few days later for no reason. There are other receipts that do it but these are the ones that come to mind at this moment. Brex app never lost the photo of receipts or properly filled out information.

Double billed. I have been getting billed for over a year via my Apple account. $5 per month. I hardly ever use the account and when I finally submitted a report it made me log in via the website and then had me put in a CC number to submit my expense report saying “your free trial is over.” I tried to contact support for some help and it gave me a chat bot that gave me no help whatsoever. Ended up cancelling my subscription via Apple and requesting a refund of all the money I’ve paid Expensify through Apple. Good program overall, fairly easy to use, but don’t count on any support if you need it.

Great app - cropped receipts would make it 5 star. I love this app! It makes tracking my receipts and submitting them for reimbursement so easy! Pointers: when doing a report, definitely DO go for the attach PDF option - this attaches your nice category grouped report, thumbnails of each receipt, and the full size scans. Two things would make it even better: auto-crop the receipts and make them B&W, and also group multiple scans on a single page so the resulting report isn’t so long. Such a time saver!

Great tool for school expense reports only if.... I really like this app it creates detailed reports that can be emails as PDF to your accounting department. However, I am not a fan of the smart scan feature. It slows the camera down and doesn't read my receipts because I block out my personal information. So I have to click around until it lets me edit the receipt. Expensify get rid of your smart scan I think more people would use it.

Coolest, fastest, and painless way to submit expenses!. I used to sit with over 100 receipts writing the classification, taping them to a sheet, scanning, then saving, attaching, writing the same explanation again and then submitting. I had to wait for my expense to show up on my credit card report before I could justify it. With Expensify I take a quick picture as soon as I purchase it, label it, submit and at end of month I submit all the expenses at once. Easy breeze!

Wish it were more like the site. To be clear- this is a review of the app, not Expensify as a whole. In general, love Expensify! The app, however, seems to try to “help” in some ways that are pretty annoying. I’m the admin for approving reports, and the only way to approve them from my phone is to use the review process- something I find tedious and annoying, so I instead wait and do it from my computer. I get that they think that’s a good way to do things, but ultimately that should be my decision. Being forced to use it this way keeps me from being able to take my job as mobile as I’d like. Would appreciate some more “manual” views and options.

Overall good, but… could be great. Switching from paper receipts and spreadsheets, this app saves me several hours a month and gets me to submit monthly vs every 6 months. Great! That said, they could incorporate some newer iphone features to make workflow easier. Most apps now have a “send to” feature to move data between apps. It’d be great to have expensify as a “send to” recipient so I don’t have to first save a pdf with a bill from say AT&T and the attach that to an email to expensify. Or take a screenshot of my Uber receipt and “send to” Expensify.

Free or not Free??. I getting tired of this latest scheme that developers are using to trick you into downloading an app, enter you email or phone number only to find out you have to pay a monthly fee to use the app. You used to be able to rely on going to the App Store and it would either say “Get” meaning it was free or it would have the price for the app and you could quickly make the decision whether you wanted to pay or not. Apple really needs to take a hard look at this practice that is becoming common now and change it. You shouldn’t have to read carefully through all the fine print that a crafty sales team has created before downloading an app that you expect to be free but it is far from it.

The app is very limited. They charge you a monthly subscription fee if you scan over 25 receipts per month but when it is time to file an expense report, you can’t even use the app if you want to report large number of expenses because there is no multi-select 🤯. so you are forced to either select 50-60 expenses one by one or have to have access to a computer and use a web version. It is very inconvenient and since it is a very basic features to select multiple items in any app and there is absolutely no reason not to have it in an app, I’m canceling my subscription. Fix the app and maybe I’ll reconsider.

Fantastic. I travel quite a bit for my company and would collect receipts in my wallet and scan each one for my expense report. It is a hassle. But then I discovered Expensify. It totally simplified the entire process. I take a picture of my receipt using the App and Expensify does everything else. It categorizes my expense and puts it in a report along with a picture of my receipt. I just email myself a PDF at the end of my trip. The App does all of the organizing for me! It really is amazing and I’m so glad I discovered it!

Do not use this app. When I got layoff 2 months ago, I lost access to my email but still have an mobile access. So I asked support to delete my sensitive information thru the app and they can not delete it. Only thru web, only hardcore. Support not give to me a manager email, but I asked 5 times (I counted). Everything will be ok if you used the app and have access to your working email, but when you lost access - this is the end of the way Ups: support not helped as well. They told me: delete account thru your ex company. No additional help with deleting sensitive data (bank account) and etc. Also support did not share with me support manager email, but I asked 5 times...
