Do not like latest updates. City Mapper is my main way of getting around New York and it’s the first thing I suggest newcomers download to navigate the transit system, but the newest updates are not good. You used to be able to access the bus routes in real time from within your trip, but now you have to exit all the way out and find them in a roundabout way. The navigation often glitches and won’t let you go forward to back to the next or previous steps once you’re in a trip. It gets stuck and then the app shuts down. The older version never had these issues and they’re such an important part of use for every trip!

I know it sounds dramatic but this app is lifechanging. I moved to a big city in another country a year ago and the official public transportation app for that city was horrible. Citymapper saves me so much time and effort, giving me multiple options for routes (like if I want to walk less or if I’m rushed for time and don’t want to transfer, etc.) and always updating me on times and delays. It’s an all-in-one app and even though I’m familiar with the city now, I use it daily for train and bus times because it’s so reliable. 10/10 I would legit be a brand rep if I could, that’s how much I love this app.

Quirky excellence. This is, hands down, the best transit app I’ve ever used, and I’ve used quite a few. It provides a surprisingly detailed understanding of your city; covers all modes of local transportation from traditional (bus & rail) to newfangled (Uber & scooters) and the very best of human-powered (walking & cycling); and offers up highly accurate and intuitive directions (tho I have noticed, at least in Chicago, some obvious route options missing from bussing suggestions)... And all of this excellent info is staged with a welcome sense of whimsy. Citymapper is a must-have (at least a must-try) for every wayfarer, pedalist, and straphanger.

Great for navigating public transport. Since moving to a metropolitan area with solid public transportation options, I found myself frustrated with Google Maps’ limited functionality when navigating the city. So I downloaded several different apps that purportedly excelled in that particular area. Citymapper is the only one that I continue to use on a regular basis. A couple key features (but certainly not all of them: It provides important alerts about the bus/train lines I use frequently, lets me know how long until the next departure, and can show every station/stop in the vicinity (with excellent filters). It even tells me which metro exit to use in order to get me closer to my destination. Plus, there’s almost no learning curve. So if you’re visiting an unfamiliar city and don’t plan on driving, I’d highly recommend checking it out. I still use Google Maps for driving directions, but Citymapper wins for everything else.

Problematic in New York. I have been using Citymapper as Club subscriber now for two months to commute from NJ to Manhattan and back. Unfortunately, it doesn’t do a great job and each time to manually adjust the change times to make my connection work. I have missed several times a connection from subway to NJ Transit in Penn Station and Secaucus because I didn’t pay attention in the first place. It assumes that a connection time of one minute in Secaucus from upper level to lower level is ok which is impossible to do even if the train from New York is on time (NJ commuters know what I am talking about). Also, it often fails to find the fastest way even for a subway trip within Manhattan. I will now be trying Transit as a hopefully better alternative.

London travel, sorted.. My last trip to London was made so much more productive and enjoyable using this app opposed to all others available. Bus, Tube, and train times were instantly updated and the app follows the journey whilst on it. The ride share for £5 was a nice addition allowing the opportunity to get across the city in comfort for such a small fare (didn’t have to share the ride once, but paid as if I had). The option for regular commuters to buy passes seems a great perk for those living in the city. Definitely will continue to use whenever I am in any city that has Citymapper.

Love this app and.... I’ve been using CityMapper for some time. It’s worked for me in my native Brooklyn and when I’ve traveled to Paris, and other cities in the US. I’m temporarily living in ATL and am sad I don’t have CityMapper there (I’m using Whiz). It’s my go-to travel app. Thanks for making it such a great product! The main reason I’m not giving this app 5 stars is that the times are often much longer (sometimes 2x as long) as it takes to actually travel. For instance, it will say a stop 3 stops away takes 29 minutes no matter what time of day (not including wait time). It takes 10 (including walking time). I’m not sure if they are playing the airline game wherein they give you a longer time to that their “on time” date is higher, but I find it incredibly frustrating if I’m going somewhere else and I leave a lot of extra time and it takes half of it. I would love for CM to tweak their algorithm to be more accurate.

This app is like having a super power in your pocket. This app is hands down without question the best thing for a commuter since the invention of transit cards! My commute consists of the following; personal vehicle> bus>ferry>bus>shuttle!!! Before this app I had to wrangle 2-4 apps all with varying degrees of reliability to get this mess figured out if I was late or if I was coming home from a different part of the city. Now all I need is ONE!!! I couldn’t be more happy, the interface is amazing and the data provided has been 100% accurate for me everyday. All I can say is keep up the great work and I share this app with everyone I meet since I travel frequently for work and I look forward to this app taking on more cities!

Indispensable!. This is by far the best transit app I’ve ever used. Syncs with my Apple Watch so I get a buzz when I’m one stop away from where I need to get off, so no more missed stops! I work in an area where there are multiple modes of public transport so at any given time I have access to bus predictions, locations and stats of bike share stations, locations of electric scooters and station-less electric bikes. I am able to send a link to friends so that they can track my location during a trip. I can also track the shuttles that are in my hospital’s system. I don’t usually write reviews but I just have to share how awesome this app is!! There is a new feature for Siri shortcuts too.

I Don’t Review Apps. I don’t review apps. Ever. Unless I have to. Until now. CitiMapper is the single greatest app for getting around a city you do not know. I used it in New York recently and was just stunned. You have to use it to believe it. Tell it where you want to go and it gives you several options for transportation then tells you step by step what to do. With a map to guide you as you go. “Head to the 49th street subway station. Buy a ticket. Go to the platform that says uptown. Etc.” Then it tells you how long until the next train is coming. Updates you for each stop on the train. It really is amazing. Awesome! I have told ten friends about this app already. A must have!

If you are traveling in a large city without a car, you need this. I travelled with my wife and 3 year old son to Paris for the first time, and read about Citymapper on a travel website before we got there. Citymapper was easy to use (even has some built in intelligence tools to make finding addresses fast) and was accurate with its train/metro lines and times. I would use this app if it is available in any major city. My only request would be for the app to highlight areas (streets or districts) that out-of-towners should not walk through for safety reasons.

Mostly ok. We used the app in Chicago, trying to use public transportation rather than cabs & ride-share. We found it hard to use on the go, it seem to have a little trouble determining for we were to give accurate directions. It would also be extremely helpful to be able to plan multiple stops. When we were out for the day, it would have been better to know how long transportation would take us, based on what kind we were using. Perhaps a clearer division of train, bus, car, walking, they often seem jumbled. Or sort based on timeframe. I could see all the choices that comparing them got confusing. Good basic app, need some refinement in a large dense city.

Best Navigation App for NYC. I live in NYC, and this app has been by far the best in helping me get where I need to go. When I first moved here, understanding the city’s transportation was difficult. But Citymapper makes it so easy! Not only have I learned the transportation system while using it, I also am able to keep up in real-time with trains and buses. The software is outstanding, and it’s super easy to use. There are so many transportation apps out there, so you have to find what works for you. My suggest, try them all! See what fits with your schedule and life, and I’m sure you’ll understand why Citymapper is the way to go. :)

Recently has become less reliable. I have used this app and raved about it for years. I recently moved to a new part of Brooklyn and am using a whole new set of subway lines and I’ve had to come to terms with knowing that if I follow this app, I will always be about 10 minutes late.. so I plan accordingly and set my arrival time to be 10 mins earlier than I need to be. Last night I left my apt 5 mins later than the app told me to and arrived at my destination 20 mins late... those 5 minutes might have accounted for me missing a train but it is just incredibly frustrating. Also I don’t know if this is a setting on my phone but the blue dot on my map that tracks my location has also become unreliable. It consistently points me in the wrong direction so I now go the opposite way of where it tells me to go.

This app made me love city travel again. Recently I visited NYC for 4 days. I have been there three times and each time I was a stressful ball of mess that would be switching back and forth between three different apps and still managing to get lost. NOT ANYMORE !! Citymapper is the best app on the market for nagavating a big city. It took a few trail and errors to get the hang of it but once I got the gist of the app it was super easy . I love the fact that it gives you multiple options for getting to your destination and you just pick the one that works best for you. My preferences was buses with no transfers . So I found it and picked . I didn’t get lost not one time with citymapper and it actually made traveling the city seem like a breeze .

Paywall makes the app useless. Used to love this app so much. But unless you upgrade and pay for premium, you only have access to a very limited amount of routes. There are so many more efficient routes you can take but there’s no way to add them to the app unless you pay. Many times the routes it suggests are the most expensive ones, and so even if I wanted to take another route I can’t put it into the app and calculate an ETA because of the paywall. Furthermore, it’s very slow in updating you on delays. It’ll tell you a bus is coming when it’s delayed by 10 minutes and you could’ve taken another route. Whereas Google maps already shows the delay and re routes you. Google maps is nowhere near as intuitive for public transport but works a million times better and is much more accurate. Very disappointing.

Good, but has a big flaw. I usually love this app. It stays up to date and gives me pretty detailed and accurate information. But I do have a major issue with it. I’ll check the app when I’m leaving for the subway fairly often to plan on arriving at the time they tell me is accurate for the subway. Fairly often, the time will be incorrect, and the train will arrive much earlier than listed, so I miss my train, which is incredibly frustrating. I understand that things change, but when I check the app 10 minutes before I leave seeing a certain time, and walk up seeing that the app was incorrect, it gets old.

useful info, buggy. the organization of the nearby subway/bus lines is easier/less frustrating to access than MyMTA, google maps, or apple maps. but... there's a lot of uncommanded UI refresh/reset when trying to look at nearby subways on launch. i often run 2-6 mins to a train rather than slogging through a longer walking time (also i'm always late) so i want to very quickly know after app launch when my nearest arrival options are. alternatively adding a "if you jogged at 9:30/mi (or pick your poison, i've done 7:30/mi in a suit) these options are open to you" or "if you use your citibike membership to bike 5 mins to this station instead you'll save 20 minutes and there are N docks free."

Best so far. Got this to navigate MTA, and found that it switches to London mode seamlessly and it totally wipes the floor with the alternatives. It's not possible to personalise traffic selections (say, "avoid tube," "luggage friendly" (though "wheel chair friendly" is often a good alternative) or "cut out a tube-trip that barely saves any time, but adds to the price + likelihood of delays during rush hours"). Sadly "rain safe" seems to be gone as well. They don't admit to just forwarding TfL data, so I guess blaming them for attrocious bus predictions is in order. I've seen the three first buses arrive in 4min, 4min, 5min for ca 20mins sustained, after which only one arrived. Oddly, but this may be due to iOS's memory management, in the morning when I open it for the first time in 12+ hours, it is still set for my last destination (home), but if I set my destination (work), lock the phone and unlock it, it's back to the opening page, no destination set. Odd, nit a problem. A lot of screen real-estate on a bottom pane is "wasted" (from a users perspective) on flogging their commercial services, which is probably not too surprising for a free/low priced (?) app.

*The* Travel Companion!. This app is one of the best things you need whilst traveling! I travel to London often and this is what my husband and I use 100% of the time, and how we originally found this app. Since then we’ve been to Philadelphia, DC, Portland, Seattle and NYC and have used Citymapper in all those places! It’s easy to use and I love the little details like letting you know which train cars tend to be less busy. It always gives you multiple routes, too, because sometimes the fastest route isn’t the most ideal! My only small gripe is that in NYC, it’s not particularly clear about where the Subway entrances are at. Beyond that, this app is amazing and I recommend it to so many people. Especially if you’re an avid traveler, you’ll download it and never need anything else. 🤩

The Only Transit App You’ll Need in SF. I’ve lived in San Francisco since before there was even NextBus (dark, dark times) and since it came to be, I must have tried a dozen apps for years before I discovered CityMapper. The key is that it calculates the ideal route for you taking into account time to walk to stops, when you need to be somewhere, or whether you want to get there fast or walk the least. It also has every transit system, including ferries and county bus lines like Sam Trans and Golden Gate Transit. Finally, the Apple watch app works very well by alerting you when the bus is coming or when your stop is next. I can’t find a single thing about it I don’t like except that the watch app sometimes needs to be manually started to connect, but that’s really it.

LOVE this app. I recently went to NYC for a long weekend and though I know my way around the city pretty well I explored this visit to places I haven’t been, enter the Citymapper app. You put in where you want to and it shows you how to get there and a multitude of ways. Whether it be walking taking the train or taking the bus or taking a cab or taking an Uber or Lyft. It gives you the time of each method of transportation how long it will take you to get there and it even gives you an estimated cab and Uber/Lyft fares. If you opt to take the train like I did it tells what car to get on to be closest to an exit and it even gives you walking directions when exiting the train to reach your final destination. This app is AWESOME! I highly recommend and will use it for years to come. Thank You Citymapper.

I love this app!. This is a great app for those who are directionally challenged and would get lost in their own backyard. I love the fact that there is a feature that signals you when it’s time to get off at your stop. I never go anywhere without using Citymapper! It’s also great that the app gives you at least 5 different ways to get anywhere and it includes all modes of transportation. The walking feature is great because it has a blue dot that lets you know if your walking in the right direction or not. Since using this app I’ve never gotten lost and I usually get to my destination faster than the app estimates. This is an essential app for those who travel regularly.

Like having a local in your pocket. Fantastic experience with this so far. Everything has been very reliable and up to date so I didn’t have to wonder where my bus or train or subway was. Directions are easy to follow and accurate, and it seamlessly helps you between different forms of transit. I love that it shows you estimated time of travel for each method it suggests. I do wish it was more offline compatible for if I didn’t have reliable cell service. That’s the only thing I would change though. So happy to have found this app! Made navigating New York as easy as it can be.

A million times better than google maps. So far I’ve found this app incredibly helpful and accurate in providing the best options for getting somewhere. It includes suggestions of where to be on the train, reminds you when to get off the train, has a helpful map to show you where to walk to/from the train, and even trip costs! I’m curious where they got their train arrival times from, because even the MTA sometimes displays different arrival times on their own different systems. But so far I have not encountered anything particularly incorrect in the info the app provides. The app even includes service changes on lines/buses. So glad someone told me about this app.

A “MUST” Have App. I’ve used a lot of travel apps, but this one hands down the best I’ve ever used. It will walk you directly to the train station, metro, bus, etc you need to reach your destination. What I really like about it is it will tell you if a route is disrupted by the many strikes in Paris and provide you with a “strike safe” route. It will also recommend which part of the train or metro to sit in. I’m a heavy traveler and am totally impressed with it. Great job and a big thanks to those who developed it. They know the travel business and the needs of tourists and all travelers. If you’re weary of what route to take and what transport to use then simply let this app do the work for you.

No stress even if you’re a first timer at public transit. I’m an American who has never lived anywhere that has good public transit, so I’m kind of unfamiliar with how it works/etiquette. This app includes everything you need to know to navigate the public transit system in whatever city you’re visiting, including the best train station entrances and exits, total trip time including walking, and lots of alternative routes if they’re available. I didn’t miss a single train or get on the wrong one during my week long trip to Paris, where I rode the metro at least 15 times. I will never travel without Citymapper again- insane that it’s free.

The Perfect Navigation App. LOVE citymapper. It's easy to use, has all the information you need, multiple options for every kind of trip, has offline maps for when you're underground, even ferry options! I recommend the app to all my friends, people who've lived here in NYC for years and new arrivals. The train arrival times are accurate 90% of the time (and who could ask for more when you're dealing with the MTA) and the app also gives me options to get places that I hadn't considered that will be faster than my original plan. Highly recommend.

Pay for voice assistant??? Dangerous!. I have been using Citymapper while getting around by bicycle since I moved to Barcelona 18 months ago. It has been FANTASTIC. The voice assistant feature allows me to focus on cycling and collision avoidance rather than constantly looking down at my phone. It also allowed me to keep my phone and self out of harms way by not having to pull it from my pocket and one handing my bike. NO other navigation apps have REMOVED basic user safety features. PLEASE find another way to generate revenue other than making your app dangerous to use. Reinstate free voice assistant!!!

I’ve used it everywhere. I’ve been using Citymapper for three years now and I’ve recommended it to all of my friends. When I moved from a rural area to the city after college, I had to figure out city transit for the first time in my life, and Citymapper made it so easy. I’ve used this in Chicago on a daily basis, but I’ve also used this in Paris, Amsterdam, London and Toronto and never got lost! I’m now at the point where I occasionally know better or easier ways to get to certain places in the city on transit than what the app tells me, but it’s still great for planning out trips. Highly recommend it!

Super helpful app. Just returned from a three city trip to Europe. This app was top notch. Better than google maps especially the walking part. Google maps always seemed to have a delay and didn’t recognize what direction I was walking. Not a problem with Citymapper. It showed my progress along the route and even alerted me when my train stop was coming up. The only difficulty was in Athens as the train stops and street signs IRL are in both the Greek alphabet and English. Some locations on the app (like when I was taking the train from the airport) I could only see the Greek letters.

Useful and largely accurate for SF and Seattle. This has been a useful app for transporting myself around San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle area; I haven’t tried it at other major metropolises. I find the use of minutes left before the next train to not be useful when it comes to connecting transportations. For example, minutes left in the current train/bus is useful, but when I swipe left to see next transfer, it’ll tell me I have one minute to the connecting train when I still have 20 minutes to ride, which doesn’t help me because I would rather know what time I can expect to arrive and what time is the train i should expect to get on.

Great job!. I’m completely shocked with how great this app is. I went to New York for the first time in my life and I was scared because I didn’t know where to go to find the subway or which subway I had to take. The city mapper app helped me so much!!. It helped me find the best route for me to take, which subway I had to take, how much I had to walk, what time the subways came, how many stops I had left, and more. It is extremely accurate. Thank you guys so much!!! Awesome job with this app. If you guys are touring New York for the first time and don’t know what to do or how to get around New York City definitely use this app. 10 out of 10

Not as efficient as Google Maps. At first I was excited to use this app. Visiting NYC for the first time was a great opportunity to try this out. I thought it would be great to navigate the subway system and occasionally the bus. It had useful features such as which cars to board for the subway and which station exits to use. Unfortunately, none of these features save you any time or walking. It displays too many route options, and they’re only sorted by how much time they take. The best routes with the least walking aren’t even shown. And if you follow the recommendations for which section to board or which station exit to use, you’ll end up walking even more. If I plug the same destination into Google Maps, it recommends the best route or quickest route, and it uses connections to save steps walking. The only time it came out ahead of google was find a route to JFK. Otherwise, not worth the download.

I have to rave about Citymapper. This app is absolutely fantastic. I live in NYC and use is almost daily to navigate all the various transit closures and problems. Now I am traveling and find it works just as well in an ever expanding number of cities, for example, London and Rome, two other difficult to navigate cities. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Citymapper has taken me places and helped me to have experiences that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. I’m a lover of public transit and this app is like a support system for helping to reduce driving. Basically the best app I have ever used.

Best App for Traveling. I am currently traveling through London on spring break with my family and I gotta say this app is the best thing for getting around anywhere. I’d be lost already if it wasn’t for this app. Usually what I have to do to get around would take me 2-4 apps with what this one app does. If you plan on traveling anywhere in the world I highly recommend you download this app. It’s very convenient and offers a ton of options for different modes of transportation. At first it will seem intimidating and a bit overwhelming with all of the ways you can travel but I can guarantee that with a bit of practice this app it can serve you at top notch quality.

My go-to transit app. With constant updates, added features, and improvements, this is my go-to app. I use it hand in hand with Google Maps. Each have features I like that the other doesn’t. Transportation is a breeze with this app. I’ve used it in both NYC where I live and in London when I went to visit (the offline feature is wonderful as I didn’t have cell service. I would use the WiFi and plan out my trips and save them in the hotel and was able to access my transit directions on the go) I feel as though there could be some work with the LIRR directions. My commute has a simpler route than suggested and when the app shows it, it’s inconsistently there. Love this app though!

Feel confident with this app!. As a female solo traveler, this app definitely saved my life while traveling in NYC! If you are ever traveling in New York City, I highly suggest the Citymapper app. I’m from an area in the South where public transportation is simply an idea not a reality. I was very nervous about navigating NYC alone using public transit. This app was extremely helpful, and I managed to travel all over Manhattan, Brooklyn, Roosevelt Island, and parts of New Jersey without getting lost (not even once)! I mainly used the app to navigate the subway system. This app helped me feel safe and confident while traveling alone!! I cannot speak highly enough of this app!! Thank you so much, Citymapper!!!!

Great if you have terrible sense of direction. This app was a life saver during a recent vacation to NYC. It allowed us to get walking or transit routes anywhere in the city. When taking the subway I watched the map on my phone for current location and stops (announcements were not very loud). Didn’t get lost once! I did have to use my iPhone app if I didn’t know an exact address. Like if I just wanted a coffee to find a coffee shop in Apple Maps and then plug in the address in Citymapper. I would pay for an app that combines the current platform with a search function.

The best public transportation by far. Citymapper gives so many options to mix and match in terms of what combination of buses and trains to take. For someone who lives in a big city, I really appreciate being able to decide which combinations of rides fit my time the best. The only feedback I have is that though it gives good options, it is not as clear as Apple Maps where exactly the stops are or where to enter for the subway or train. Sometimes it so unclear to the point where I have to navigate to Apple Maps to see which entrance I can take to get to my correct ride

Cross-metro area support badly needed. With RailBandit no longer an option (development stopped - no 64-bit support), I have been reviewing various apps to help me with my commutes to downtown Philly and NYC. This app has easy to follow directions, watch support, and optimal routing. It saves me a considerable amount of time by even telling me what subway car is optimal (crucial to an efficient commute when transitioning from the train to the subway). It also has a good live data feed to let me know platform and boarding info. The only reason preventing the 5th star is the fact that I need to manually switch metro areas in the app when going to NYC vs Philadelphia. Devs, these regions border each other and many people traverse the two in a daily commute!

Get this app!. I don’t write reviews, but I went out of my way to do this. You can pick your time of day of travel and it will tell you how long it will take to get from you start point to your finish point, including where to walk, Which subway exit to take, and even how many calories you will burn. You have multiple options that you can choose for your route and for your method of travel. It’s just awesome. it was my lifeline when traveling in New York City for the first time alone. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Only con is that it can’t pinpoint your current location as accurately as I would like, so I had to wander around a little bit as I neared my Destiination while walking.

5 stars. Wow, I just returned from London and used this app extensively while there after learning about this app after doing some research before my trip. London is huge and it’s transit system confusing, but using your app helped me navigate my way around the city without a problem. I paid for the extras which was well worth it. I loved the simple and turbo options when making a decision on my travel choices. The app even gives you an accurate calculation of the trip cost too. Using the app with an earpiece was especially helpful with updates on the underground and bus schedules and gave real time locations even when walking. I can’t recommend it enough, it far exceeded my expectations.

Lacks Practical. As a woman, this app has navigated me to spaces where I felt unsafe or was unsafe. If you input arriving at a certain time this app may take you off public transit prematurely. I’m talking walking for twenty minutes and walking pass more bus stops prematurely. I get the idea behind this but safety is more important than time. If a bus goes closer to my destination it makes no sense to have me get off sooner. I was at a bus stop where a man placed an empty crack pipe next to me. Thankfully security for the restaurant behind me was on high alert but that may not the case. Furthermore, sometimes this app lags behind on viable routes. Construction happens but so do unexpected accidents. It’s important that this app communicates with outside channel to access valid bus/ train stops.

Great for Public Transit when traveling. Visited Chicago for a week and bought a 1 week CTA Pass: Citymapper was the primary way I understood how to get from place to place! Not only did it show me multiple options, but it also altered me when my stop was coming up! Alerts and status even showed up on my Apple Watch! Really, it was an indispensable tool for that trip. It’s overall usefulness is not much diminished by the fact that I could not initiate a trip on my watch. I could follow all steps of a trip that I had initiated on my phone, though, and that was very useful: I could keep my iPhone in my pocket while checking status on my watch. Really useful app!

Best app EVER!. This is hands down the most useful app for navigating big cities ever! Far more useful than something simple like google maps. I used this in Paris and in figuring out how to get from one place to another, it tells you how many minutes it will take if you walk, ride a bike, ride a scooter, ride in a car, take the bus or metro. If you take metro for example it will tell you how to walk to the appropriate station, what line to get on, going in which direction, how many stops to ride, what stop to get off or change, how to navigate changes to different lines, and what stop to get off at, and even which street exit to take. Then, the walking route to your final destination. Indispensable!!!!!

Best Navigation App. Honestly the best app I’ve ever used to get around a city. I was recommended it by my orientation leader when I got to college—I go to AU in Washington, DC—and it has made my life 100x better when it comes to getting around a new city. I even use it when I go home in New York City because of how amazing it is wi try showing updated information on trains and busses. Everyone should use this app I recommend it to every person I meet when I notice they’re not using it to get around. We should all take more public transportation and less single person vehicles! Also they’re design gimmick is super cute 10/10

Better than Transit, but has its issues. It gets 5 stars for being better than Transit, but loses 1 star because I can’t use it anymore since I started a new job. I like that I can see all the upcoming departures for the line I’m about to get one, not just the next one. It also lets you manually select which departure you’re going to make, which is helpful because I usually walk fast so I usually make it to the one before it thinks I’m going to make. However, for some reason it doesn’t recognize the station right next to my work as a station, so it always tries to take me to/from a station much further away, which adds a lot of time to my commute. I don’t use the app for directions, I only use it for ETAs and seeing the bus/train departure times, so it’s basically useless now when I’m going to work. I still use it when I’m going other places, which is much less often.

Can’t imagine life without it. I rarely write reviews for anything but I love this app so much, I have to! I live in New York and City Mapper is genuinely a life saver. I’m so comfortable getting around now. I do pet sitting so I have to travel to a number of different apartments in the city and I’ve been able to find my way each and every time using this. I can even calculate when to leave in order to get there on time! It’s also extremely helpful having the times for the Subway trains available with the directions. In conclusion, you won’t regret the download.

Top Shelf App. In bars they put the best stuff on the top shelf. This is that kind of app. It stores some of the information on your phone, which I LOVE because I don’t max out my storage on my phone all the time and if I’m on vacation in Europe then I know I need space for photos I’m going to take. The fact it puts information on your phone is great because you KNOW that if you’re on a train or in a subway, etc, you’re going to lose connectivity. This app is prepared for that. This app is “solidly built.” It doesn’t fail and suddenly lose track of where you are when you’re in the middle of a complex series of connections from the airport to the bus or the taxi, to the subway, to the hotel or hostel, or wherever you stay!! This is the kind of app you can trust. One thing to know (which isn’t really a negative), is that this can be an energy intensive app for your phone to run, so don’t navigate away from the app when it’s opened…especially with an older phone. It can crash if you have too much else opened, but that’s only because it’s got so much information!! This is the kind of top shelf app that really does something we didn’t have in the pre-internet era. This would have been a pile of paperwork back then…Bus schedules and train schedules and figuring out what platform to be on…THIS DOES IT ALL!!!

Horrible. Most of the features are behind a paywall. App only works in a handful of big cities. If you live outside of these, this app is useless. I tried a route in Sydney, I’m getting headaches when I see what this app is giving me. Horrible. I’m using  Maps, which is free! And which also works in my tiny little town, I even get the train schedule. So if you like headaches and want to pay for features which you can actually get for free with  Maps, this is your app. Have fun. I’ve deleted it.

Really useful. As a first time visitor to London this app was invaluable. In fact the only trouble had was if I ignored it. Highly recommend to anyone could not do without it.

The voice instruction is back!!. VERY, very happy that the voice instructions are back in the free version It was my best friend before and I got really sad when it was only for paid ones but now is back. Thank you City Mapper ❤️

needs more accuracy on bus and rail timing. 1.Less accurate timing 2.When searching destination timings are listed randomly it should go from least to highest time taking routes 3.app shows a lot of bus for a route in reality there is very less 4. If i were your investor you are fired already

Only missing correct ‘live updates’. This app is amazing and I love all the features. The only thing that stops me from giving 5/5 starts is the fact that it’s missing live updates. One example: I was waiting for the buss in bondi junction and it said that the best one (it of 5 busses) would arrive in 23 minutes. 2 minutes after that, 5 busses arrived. That feature is the only think that make me keep ‘tripview’ as an alternative app even though yours is waayyyy better.

This is a next level app - with one exception. I’ve been waiting for a travel app like this for a long time. It could be better if it was smarter. For instance, to get it my work near Barangaroo, sure I could walk from Townhall Station - or better yet, I can switch train lines and catch a connecting train to Wynyard. Food for thought.

Covid city mobility info VALE was 5star now none. Why have you removed the website with City Mobility. Australia has 2 cities in lockdown plus curfew and your info was a KPI of whether lockdowns are effective. It was a fantastic source of the impacts of COVID lockdown and travel restrictions in cities around the World and NOW GONE. Not even the opportunity to take some screen shots before you removed the whole set of data

So easy to use. I’ve been using this app to get around London and it is making traveling around much easier. Lots of options, Easy to follow instructions and very helpful. Only down fall is the amount of battery it uses. Apart from that would recommended!

Easy to understand. Much better then, maps or google maps, easier to understand and follow.

DOSENT EVEN HAVE MY HOME!. it doesn't even have my area, Perth, which is a city with millions of people! Thousands of people could’ve had this app and yet you deny them even to use it? Horrible and uninformed! I bet so many of you who read this will not have their area in this app. I couldn’t even write this in app because ‘my email isn’t valid’ or something. They wouldn’t even care anyways! Bad app, couldn’t even use it.

Good but not great. I like the 3D map view but I’d like to have the option to turn off one or more transport types. For instance where I live the bus is usually fhe fastest option but the bus is always crammed and the seats have no leg room so 90% of the time I’d rather catch the ferry.

Lifesaver. Soo crucial when in a foreign city it makes things so easy with every possible transportation option available and steps throughout

Best transport app available. I’ve tried many transport apps that are always missing something...Citymapper brings everything you want together in a user friendly format. Perfect for exploring new places or just navigating your home town and the public transport options. More up to date than the ‘official’ transport apps!

Get me home. I just love using this App when travelling in a foreign country or city. The get me home (or work) feature just works! And the choices between various forms of transport also works brilliantly. Also, the direction pointing shadow helps no end. Thank you for a great App, but I think we should have to pay for it (at least $2 to $5).

What an amazing intuitive app. Design of information to be displayed is truely well thought through. Everything on the screen is useful and thought through well. This is made by people who take public transport frequently, for people that take public transport frequently.

One of the most useful app. You can do so much with the app and the best thing is when you are overseas you can just switch the city and it is the same familiar experience without having to buy or purchase extra maps/ app. First the options of transport and routes are amazing. Giving you an endless of choices. The timing is fairly accurate - depending on the city you r in. The walking route is even better than google maps becuase it gives you a preview of the street view of the destination in a handy button. It even thinks of your safety by letting you share your trip with someone so that they can track your travel progress. The key is ALL these features are ALL in one map. easier to read and use then the other ones.

Better than google maps. Especially when it comes to itineraries and directions. The public transport live timings are far more accurate and reliable than the Google Maps’s ones. Also the whole experience of the Citymapper is great and the tone of voice is lovely. Best utility app on my phone.

One of the top must have travel apps!. The app worked a treat during my time in Hong Kong. The GPS tracking information was highly accurate. Takes the stress out of travelling in a unfamiliar place.

From down under. It took a little while to find all the features for example - changing the departure and arrival time / date - the save a trip feature so you can plan the trip ( eg Marble Arch to Bushy parkrun) the day before but the app is excellent. Thanks.

Impressive - all here and easy to use. I am so impressed with this app! I live in Gosford NSW and it picks up all bus routes, maps and much more - everything all in one place. A very well presented and easy to use app.

Travelers dream app. We started using CityMapper in 2016 and simply couldn’t live without it now. It’s taken us all around Europe, the UK and the US many times and just gives all the right information at your fingertips. Fabulous!

Accurate must-have app for travelers. Super accurate and dependable. Just a brilliant app all round and I’d recommend it to anyone who needs details like… when the next bus is arriving, or when you’ll arrive somewhere.

Good for travel to new cities. I use this when I go to a new city and not sure what their local transport app is. However I’ve had to remove a few stars because whoever writes the app updates text doesn’t seem to realise the Southern Hemisphere exists and has opposite seasons! Also the fare costs are sometimes not quite right for the airport trains.

Doesn’t work on Apple Watch 5. I downloaded citymapper and set home and work as shortcuts on the iPhone app. Too bad that when I click on “home” or “work” on my Apple Watch it keeps saying that I need to set home and work on the iPhone app first even tho they’re set up. I tried to save these 2 places on saved places as well but they don’t show on my Apple Watch at all. I had to delete the app sadly, I’ll have to stick with the Apple maps app for my watch.

Paid for the app - now get ads with the subscription service. As the title says. Paid for the app and now I have to pay a subscription if I don’t want to see ads. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Also inaccurate train data - told me 47 minutes for Parramatta to Central via T1 (Gordon) but this was incorrect. Apple and Google maps both have the correct 28 minutes

A must for Europe. I used city mapper extensively for a month in Rome, then Milan, Berlin and London. In Rome it was an absolute life saver! I had a 1 month public transport pass and was able to traverse the city like a local. Never let me down and got me into the places that were much further out of track like Hadrian’s villa. Get this app, get a cheap data phone plan and unlock the world!

Best Navigation App Ever!. I am from a very small country town so whenever I am in a big city I am always worried how I will get around. I have used this app in New York, Seoul and Sydney, it was so easy to use, it helped me get anywhere I wanted. I can’t recommend this app enough for anyone travelling.

So fantastic for navigating Sydney. I love the simplicity of the app; it makes getting around Sydney so much easier, the layout of various transport options is very helpful. Infinitely better than google maps and an incredibly helpful resource, especially when new to a city. Thank you to the people behind this app - it’s been so great to rely on 🙏🏼😀

Saved me about a million times from being lost overseas. This app is SO good!!! The thought that’s gone into it (providing maps on the home page of the city you’re in, train timetables etc) and providing 5 or 6 different ways to get to where you’re going with a very easy step by step guide. It’s SO GOOD! I’ve suggested it to heaps of peeps :D

Get me home. I love being able to press the Get me Home button. It means I can wander without worry and know that I can find a direct way back.

Easy to use and very detailed. The only app I would use to get around, it's so accurate and on time and live updates. Highly recommended and I highly trust it to get me anywhere on time.

Most useful app in your phone (London). Amazingly intuitive app, which gives you exactly all the info you need to know to get from A to B. It gives you the ETA, travel time, walking distances, and cost for all the options. This helps you optimise for different things at different times: in a rush (minimise ETA), feeling tired (minimise walking distances or changes), feeling skint (minimise cost), or feeling like an interesting journey (choose the bus). I started using CityMapper in London in 2014, where it was easily best app on my phone. It helped me start using buses, which were previously a no-go because of how tricky it is to combine route/timetable info. I use it less in Sydney as the live bus times are not as accurate as TripView. I mainly use it for non-standard journeys, and in combination with TripView.

You need to download this public transport app. I've been using the PTV app in Melbourne which is the official government one. This Citymapper app blows it out of the water. This app has so many excellent features like: current time arrivals of trams trains buses. I usually have to open up 3 other apps to get that info and it's all here. I love the periscope function which is the real street image of the stop you want to get to. It even has calorie counting and environment impact by choosing public transport. Love love love. Highly recommend and you won't be disappointed with this app. 10 out of 10 from me.

A must have!!. This app has gotten me around both London and Melbourne and has never failed me. Takes the stress out of getting to an unfamiliar place, an absolute must have. Super accurate and super necessary.

Good but could be more effective.. Love this app but wish it would show all real time departures rather than what it thinks I can make in time. Multiple times I’ve checked and seen a big wait, only to find out I could have made an earlier tram if the app allowed me to see it.

Brilliant. Would give Citymapper 6 stars if I could. On a family holiday in Europe it was great getting us around London, dealing with track work and closed tube stations to get us onto buses as needed. And then when we arrived in Paris to be greeted by a strike, Citymapper still managed to get us across town with no problems at all. Best app ever.

Amazing app!!!. This app is so great, I cannot describe how much I love it. The interface is intuitive and user-friendly. It has all the information needed for my trip. I used to struggle a lot with the PTV app but not any more thanks to this convenient little tool. Thanks a lot and keep it up guys

Couldn’t recommend more!. This app had made my trip so much easier to get around. Download it asap!

Difficult to navigate btw options although generally good!. It’s hard to navigate in and out of trip options since you can’t simply go “back”. Also, the light rail doesn’t seem to be an option? Only busses and trains.. Other than that it’s super helpful since it will send you a notification of when to get off etc!

The best transit app. I have about six transit apps - TripGo, Tripable etc. Citymapper is my favourite - I love the live routing when you are on public transport and the interface is fun and has more options than you can poke a stick at. Only downside is it doesn't work in my new city yet!

The best. As long as your city is supported, you can guarantee this will be miles ahead of the likes of Apple or google maps. One of the issues with Melbourne is having to check across several different apps when you want to find out which stop to get off if it’s a tram, or which platform to change on for the train, great for people who aren’t used to the city or even if you’re going somewhere new

walk route is incorrect results in missing train. The route from my location 15 Henley Road Thirroul to Austinmer station to travel to Sydney does not take into account the need to use the road bridge to the South to cross between platforms. The route shown on the app takes you to the wrong side of the track, and would require at least another five minutes after discovering nearer to walk back up the road across the road bridge to the correct platform. This app does not have a method for reporting these areas it appears

Easy travel now. Excellent app. Best in my folder. Tried many before Citymapper. Clear and easy. Covers everything- but only in city.

Nice app. Super convenient app for traveling, it gives u different travelling options to choose, also give u a notice when its about the stop. Really helps a lot when travelling in city.

Beautiful design, but lacks one main feature.. First off, I have to say this is the most aesthetically pleasing transport app on the market. Everything works well, with many many features to explore, and I would love to use it as a daily driver, but it’s missing the most convenient feature. Similar to the official PTV app, there needs to be a page where I can see saved stops going in one direction only. Currently, the app’s saved stop feature shows every single train line in that specific station. I don’t need to know that, I just want to know the next train that will take me home/to work. That’s the point of a favourites page right? And if possible, incorporate a “next departure” feature based on your nearest saved stop as a complication on the Apple Watch. Similar to app, NextThere. I can’t wait for this to be implemented, as this will then become the all in one PT app I’ve been searching for. But until then, I’ll will wait patiently.

Bring back citymapper ride. App was amazing the last time I used it. Now that Citymapper ride is no more, which honestly was my favourite part about the app, it just set it apart from all the other apps, I have a hole in my heart yearning for the citymapper ride. Other than missing the funny little gag it honestly is a great app for those who don’t drive a car themselves.

Best commuters’ navigator. The team has a sweet sense of humor and great design effort, not just about the graphic but user interface how to best communicate with commuter in order to navigate through complex transport system. You should give it a try

Amazing. I use Citymapper almost every day of the week in Sydney and across the globe! Love the handy ‘drop bear friendly’ section for when it’s late or raining and I don’t want multiple changes or to walk long distances. Shows re routes I would have never thought of and makes public transport easy to navigate!

The best app for travellers. I love this app and use it extensively when travelling. It gives you every option to go from A to B walking, driving, cycling or by public transport, down to the best carriage on a train to take the exit or make a transfer. This app is all I need - I don't need to download tube maps in London or MRT maps in Singapore. One click and I've despised cities and have all the info I need on one app. I highly recommend this app

Incredible app, with one major issue. This app walks on google and apple maps, almost flawless- however there is one major problem: when switching trains, the app does not indicate what platform to go to at larger stations or stations not in the same building, this is incredibly confusing

Best transport app. Have used the app in Hong Kong, Vancouver, Toronto, London, Singapore, and Tokyo. It has always provided accurate directions and extensive transit options. Looking forward to bangkok being added.

GPS is off. Wish the GPS was more accurate. Been missing the bus. It’s arriving earlier than the GPS states.

Moving around with ease. Very impressed with app. Wasn’t expecting to gain more perks than Google maps but I found out a second to none app to move around. Hands down to programmers

Shame about live activities. Locking a core new feature of ios16 behind a paywall is pretty crappy. Was excited to try it out and was looking forward to using it… Uninstalled.

Helpful. Very useful app

Brilliant. Used in London: UK; Sydney & Melbourne: Australia; Vancouver & Winnipeg: Canada; Rome: Italy - absolutely 100% easy to use & accurate

Terrible compared to Transit. Only reason I’m using it is because it’s an unsupported region for Transit App. But otherwise this is terrible. The GO feature is painful at best. No opportunity to use it if a train is a few minutes late because you can’t use it on trains that are “departed”, even though I’m physically on the train. Also the interface is not intuitive. There is absolutely no consideration for UI/UX. An arrow should be the same as swiping, not taking you to a completely different option than swiping. Just painful in every way (other than straight up directions with no consideration of changing your route on the fly).

Great app. Easy to us. Great interface. Free with no add

Wonderful. I’m loving it it’s amazingly helpful

Great app. Really makes stuff easier especially for a new person in canada .

Best app for large city. I will never travel without this app. I would be lost. Now I travel like a pro

Better features than maps, Google maps. If you use public transit in a city this app is for you. Wish calendar feature worked straight from the button instead of retyping the address. Ruins the point. Wish the membership was better advertised. What am I paying for? (in detail, itemized list). Otherwise pretty cool.

Best transit app. Shows routes and prices. Amazing

Ease of use. I simply love it and need no other transit app for Vancouver.

Amazing with Apple Watch. App is perfect especially when paired with the Apple Watch. My watch tells me exactly when to get off without even having to check it or my phone. It just needs dark mode now!

Stellar app. Wow, great app. Visiting a city and need a great app to navigate the transit? … this is it. Used it to navigate Paris recently and it was superior to local apps.

Excellent app. One of the best performed app that i ever used. It helped me a lot for my last trip in Montreal. Thanks Skander Chouchene for the recommendation.

Un incontournable pour se déplacer à Londres. Cet application est un incontournable pour se déplacer à Londres. Elle considère réellement les routes les plus courtes pour se rendre à pied d’un transport à l’autre, invluant les passages piétonniers.

Local & Tourist. Wether your a local or a tourist if City Mapper is in your City it’s a must have. When using public transit either at home or abroad City mapper is the best. Makes not only planning your trip but following directions is a breeze. Including costs associated with various modes of transport as well as different routes is such an amazing feature. With live updates on times never be left in the lurch.

App doesn’t fit the 12.9” new iPad. App doesn’t fit the 12.9” new iPad , it launched in the middle of the screen like have an iPhone in the middle. Please kindly fit it.

Good but faulty when we needed most. 5 day Paris trip with my family. Day one was great no issues - we did 3 popular tourist sites with a midday return to the hotel by walking and Metro. 2nd day was a scramble. We left our hotel with 30 mins extra to get to Gare l’est to catch an early morning train to Meuse. App took us to the completely wrong spot by Metro. we were confused thinking maybe it was just a bit further. then Google told us it was 25 mins walk away…. And by that time we just flagged down a cab who took advantage of the situation severely overcharging (I’m guessing double or more based on our much longer ride to our hotel a few days ago). Thank goodness we made our train or we would have missed our a scheduled tour of Verdun and ruined the day. For common sites not an issue. We should have checked the address of the train station…. Not sure if we will use for the other days of our trip.

Handy app but difficult to cancel the subscription. The app is helpful suggesting different ways to travel based on various factors. One thing annoying is it’s difficult to cancel the subscription once you joined. Fortunately I was charged extra for a monthly fee. Make sure you don’t pick annual subscription or so. Especially if you are getting a free trial. You can be billed over a hundred dollars if you cannot cancel it easily!

One of the best apps ever!!. Visited NYC, and couldn’t have enjoyed it as much without the app.

Not updated with TTC schedule. Shows incorrect bus times

Fantastic but..... One of the best travel apps around! Great information and very accurate on the go travel information including underground transit if data or wifi is available. Big drawback is it is limited on the number on cities.

Great app. I’m new to Singapore and I follow this map to go to places and it’s so clear. I like how you indicate how many stops and the block numbers or landmarks. Perfect! I love it.

Not working in apple watch. I contact the company but refuses to answer my question. No good

Doesn’t work offline. Doesn’t work offline. It will be much better if at least “Nearby” work offline.

BEST Travel Navigation App. I recently travelled to London, UK and I use Citymapper to navigate the city. It gives you all of the options for transportation as well as cost. It also tells you what platform your train is on and what is the best exit to use from the train station. I used it with my Apple Watch and it sent notifications telling me to get off at the next stop to my watch. Walking using the app is really easy. It’s simple to determine which direction you need to go in. I highly recommend this app for travellers.

Good stuff. This app needs to set an example of the transit app, because I always use transit app to get around. It also tells where the next bus is located and the eta quote arrival. I know you have to pay for extra features, but my transit app has the announcements for departures and arrivals free instead on this app where I have to pay for it monthly or yearly. I’m not going to do that. I’ll check back again if this app approves, but in the meantime I’ll stick with my transit app for the features. Thank you.

Difficult to use. Where donI find my favourited routes? Why do you waste so much real estate on showing completely useless timetables. I miss Rocketman. No other app compares.

SUPER PRATIQUE !!. Application très bien faite facilement compréhensible, bien détaillée parfait pour les touriste pas habitué au grande ville ( comme moi ) je recommande fortement

Zz. Cant find account info to cancel subscription.

Confusing app. Very confusing, with too many things to flip through to even begin understanding what is what.

Excelente app. Es la primera vez que allá uso, me guío perfectamente a mi destino de forma clara y precisa. Totalmente recomendable.

Perfect application indispensable. Merci Indispensable This app for public transportation is as useful as GPS for a car. Don’t go without using it for any travel out of home.

👌🏼. A really good app, but it would be nice if you guys could update the app to show when buses are delayed.

Hands down best app to get around!. Been using this app for years and developers have been on top of updating and making sure the experience continues to be great.

Far better than Google. With Google I often fine that routes provided aren’t optimal. Citymapper on the other hand shows all the possible ways of getting somewhere in a way that is super easy to understand.

Presentation. Love the UI, practical and funny, nice

Wow. The best app for public transit. We are in France and so far we used it in Paris and in Bordeaux with ease. Highly recommend it.

Won’t work. Tired redownloading multiple times. As soon as I open app and try to search a city it freezes with no way out. Tried several times

10/10. Really happy to have found this app, it’s extremely useful and easy to use AND YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION TO USE IT!!!!! Finally lol, every other app I tried was horrible and you had to pay to use it which is so stupid in my opinion bc it’s literally supposed to be used to help you get around, so I really really like that you don’t have to pay for a subscription to use it. Overall it’s just a very beneficial app to have and I recommend everyone to download it! (Especially if you are like me and want to use it for the bus times/stops etc, it’s awesome) and I never ever leave reviews on anything lol so this is the first review I’ve ever made so ya! Thanks for making this app :)

This app is my return-to-office jam.. Much easier to use versus other transit apps.

Fantastic app!. Best app ever for navigating a new city. Love it!

Great app. Good navigation, accurate times, user feiendly

So helpful!. Amazing app, very helpful to navigate in unfamiliar cities! Provides walking as well as transit instructions. Way better than Google Maps if you’re on foot.

Meilleur carte interactive. Toujours avoir ceci pour voyager indispensable

Just amazing when travelling. It’s such a great app to rely on when travelling, especially for subways and trains. Better than google maps or Apple Maps. It does use more battery than I would like but I’m usually travelling with a battery pack anyways.

Fantastic app. Super helpful for a visitor to use.

Good, but not great. Primary issues: * Only way to report issues is through an app review, since the developer requires the native email app installed (I don’t and use a different one) * Seattle Line 1 when going northbound doesn’t track actual path of line but instead shows direct station to station line * Seattle Link doesn’t have all the new stops added earlier this month when viewing the full line. Looks like it is not properly updated for Line 1

Good app but constantly freezing. The app is very helpful - will continue to direct the route without internet - and mostly accurate to the happenings of the MTA however there was an update s while back and everything seemed to become very annoying. The app keeps constantly freezing when I try to find a route before I can press “Go” forcing me to force shut down the app. I can rarely ask Siri to check the commute because there’s always a problem. Please figure this out because I really like this app!

Not much better than Google/Apple maps. This app would be much improved and would be worth downloading over basic map apps like Google and Apple with a couple tweaks. 1) Notifications on lock screen use both 24h and 12h time. This is weird and confusing. Please add a setting to the app that lets you select between the two and keep it consistent. 2) The feature that shows the best place to get onto a train/subway doesn’t seem to follow any sort if logic. Is it meant to show the best place to get on based on which cars are usually the least crowded or based on where you should exit the platform? Same with the exit recommendation, what is this based on? It would be great if the best place to get on and the best exit are based on an optimized route. For example, if transferring from one train to another, show the best place to stand on the first train based on the where the transfer point is. 3) Detailed walking instructions!! Add landmarks to the map!!

Very convenient!. I’ve used the app in my home country Croatia (Zagreb) and also in New York, US. Although the cities I’ve used the app in are very different, the app worked perfectly in both of them! It is very easy to use, the given instructions on where to go were often accurate. I recommend this app to everyone who needs help in getting around somewhere new (and also in known areas). :)

Works better than Google Map for Public Transportation. This app provides much more accurate and real-time data for city public transportation, especially compared to Google map. The latter won’t consider temporary suspensions, and the routing options are less clear& optimized. However, it is still not perfect & 100% accurate, as life itself. For example, I am currently in WTC traveling to Port Authority, but it won’t even show C line as a viable option; rather than that, it asks me to keep waiting for A line which delayed multiple times and never came.

Perfect for first time public transport user!. My partner and I used this on our first trip to Europe from the US, and it helped us navigate public transportation for the first time ever with ease! We had NO experience with trains, metros, etc, and this app couldn’t have been easier to use. It took the anxiety out of the process by providing clear instructions to get from point A to B, and even provides helpful tips like the best section of the train to sit, which metro entrances are the best for your route, etc. So grateful to the creators of this app!

Finally and all in one app!. Love the app and real-time data. I pair it with my Apple Watch and I am so in the know of my commute. The only thing missing is the ability to view upcoming trains if you’re far away on Apple Watch to plan if I should switch to the express or not. For example, I’d use this functionality on the 1 train at 125th street to see if an express 2/3 is coming to 96th before I get there. I’d like it as a way to meet the express train vs waiting up to 10 minutes for it. All in all it’s a great app and I’ll be forwarding my feedback to them.

Tops any other app even the city apps. This is the best commuter app for public transit. I tried Google maps, Apple maps, Metrolink maps, LADOT app and others I even forgot the name after first use. I was getting off at incorrect spots or not catching buses or rails because of inaccurate directions. This is the only app that tracks my locations with precise accuracy. The predicted timing has been on the dot at least 95% of the time and I am way less stressed about taking the public transport. Thanks! 👍🏾

Useful but a bit complicated. Somewhat confusing app but useful. Often feels like it takes way too many taps to get what I want. The interface for live “go” trip mode is especially confusing. It’s often hard to tell if I’m currently tracking a live trip or not (which has battery implications). Also I wish there were options for more walking. For example, I’m willing to walk half an hour rather than transferring between 3 buses, but the routing algorithm seems to be very biased against excessive walking. I understand everyone has their limits, but ideally this would be configurable.

The most useful app for travel. If you travel and use public transit in cities around the world, this app is indispensable. The user interface is fantastic. The ease of use is to be commended. We recently navigated all over Madrid and Barcelona with ease using various forms of public transit. I do feel that the walking portions could be improved, as using google maps often works better to actually get to the metro station, but once there this app is perfect. I wouldn’t leave home without it.

This is the best app!. Citymapper is the best transit guide there is. I have used it extensively in DC/Baltimore and London and it has helped me navigate these cities with ease. It has saved me time and money —which is the best thing about this app. I know exactly how I can get to my destination in the cheapest or fastest way possible. The transit arrivals times are very accurate, too. Just today I was at the DC metro in Largo and it said train will arrive at 8:35 am and it sure did arrive at that time. I will never travel without Citymapper again.

Tourist’s Best Friend. Just finished 2 weeks in Paris & London and City Mapper was our go-to app for getting around. Tremendous help in planning our routes & determining the most cost effective way to get our family of 4 from point a to point b. Love the feature of being able to plan routes for future days & times. Also used the offline trip plans feature A LOT to lower data usage. Will definitely recommend to others & will use again on future trips.

The BEST for public transit. There’s literally no better app for getting around by public transit. This app tells you everything. Not just where to go and where to transfer; it says where to get on the train, it says what specific exit to leave out of a station, it tells you exact pricing, it lets you know countless different routes, etc. It’s robust and comprehensive and squashes google maps, Moovit (second best), and any other app that is for public transit. Just download and be done with it.

The ONLY tool you will need to get around London with ease. My wife (London born and raised) downloaded this for me when I moved here from California. It makes the entire London metropolitan area and makes it as easy to navigate as your flat. Super easy and detailed instructions that will put you at ease in what would otherwise be a very stressful and aggravating process. Whether in London for a day, or the rest of your life, tourist or resident...get this app!!!

Life Saver. This app this super awesome!!! We first used it for our trip to New York and let me tell you it was a life saver. It literally gave us step by step directions to get to and from anywhere. It alerted us when we needed to get off the metro or subway and showed us the quickest routes. I was amazed at how accurate the timing was also. I definitely recommend this app to everyone and will continue to use it everywhere else we go in future travels. Thank you Citymapper!!!

Made my 1st NYC trip fantastic!. I’ve had this app for awhile and wasn’t really able to use it until I recently took a trip to NYC. Holy cow is this amazing! Navigating the streets and transportation was easy. Plug in a destination and multiple suggestive ways to get there was at my fingers. Detailed down to what side the street to be on to how many stops was key for me, since I wasn’t sure how long to stay on a subway. Paired with the watch, I didn’t have to look like a complete tourist which is always an A+ for me.

Anxiety Reducing Transit App. Honestly, this is such an easy app to use. I use this when I’m going somewhere new and when I want the notifications to tell me stop is coming up. Anytime I hear someone asking around about the train or light rail, I like to go tell them about CityMapper and show them how great it is. This app definitely reduces anxiety when trying to navigate your local public transportation! I actually love this app so much that I have taken the time to write my first app review.

Love this app!. I recently went on a trip to New York and you know how confusing the subway is. It was a great tool to use to get around quickly by finding the fastest route. I never got lost and would use this app again for any trip they have available. Now I’m back home and at first they didn’t have my city but I suggested making one for it because it is a large city and they did! It’s now even easier for me to get around downtown using metro systems and walking around. Thank you city mapper!!!

Commuting GURU!!. On my trip to NYC I saw a few blogs make note of the CityMapper App. Forever grateful to those because this app saved my sanity on my vacation. Very accurate on bus, and train times. Never had to think twice about which way was the correct direction I was heading as it gives you (a little blue dot) a triangular scope (green beams) depending on the way your phone is directed. It was amazing and I'm so glad it was free and also incredibly helpful. I will recommend to friends and family traveling

Best app for public transit in major cities. Hands down. Better than Google Maps. Great subway/bus directions in an intuitive format, biking directions that keep you on bike safe paths and don’t expect you to bike up stairs (which GMaps did). Offline maps of the whole system, together or individually, accurate time estimates, and I love that unlike GMaps you can keep a route going while looking other stuff up within the app. The playful touch is wonderful too! I recommend this app to everyone.

Worth writing a review for. This ap was the most useful ap ever for travel in London. I felt like a local being able to use the tube (subway) and never once had to ask for directions. The ap is easy to use. One word, if you need to get someplace, make sure you go through the ap and have it give you directions and hit “start” before you go underground, because with no signal it will not be able to give you the helpful information and route plan. This is indispensable for traveling in a large city.

London, Los Angeles, Milan, oh my!. I absolutely love City Mapper and it’s features. Very easy to use, accurate, and FUN! Additionally, I admire the company for not only creating this app, but using the found data to creat a tangible solution. For example, in London, they created a bus system which ran in parts of the town there was high demand but the tube system missed. Furthermore, each big city has its own unique transit system and City Mapper puts all of the information is an easy-to-use platform every time. If you’re travelling between big cities or live in one, this app is important to have!

Really great navigation app, but with annoying features. I love this app both in Chicago and in London, it makes getting around really easy with super easy-to-follow direction. The cons are extra, unnecessary features like “trip receipts” that make the app skip around so I push wrong buttons while it loads a “you made it!” message and my “trip receipt” that I have absolutely no use for. It sounds petty but it gets really frustrating if I’m in a hurry, want to immediately check how close the bus is, or am in a sketchy part of town and don’t want to be looking down at my phone too long. I’d love a simpler version/update without unneeded personality that hinders performance.

Must have for vacationing in cities. I swear by CityMapper when I’m on vacation in large cities. Knowing my options to easily (should we walk it or take public transportation?) is a lifesaver when you’re tired or just unfamiliar with the city. And by setting my hotel as “Home”, i just hit the “Get Me Home” button at the end of a day of sightseeing and I don’t have to try to remember address or exact name. I recommend this app to all of my friends when they’re traveling too!

“Jetpack” came to be useful. Hahaha love how you guys included jetpack traveling, you guys are funny and genius at the same time. This is what I wanna say... Basically, I’ve been using the app “Transit” for over a year now and I liked it so far especially after the recent UI updates it got cooler. However, I downloaded you app yesterday and gave it a try and oh boy it’s so comfy to use, because it has such a simple UI and functionality that I can’t resist but say “awesome” to it and get rid of the Transit app ;) you are the best, I wish you luck getting more ratings.

Amazing but one thing. This is by far the best transit app I’ve ever used. Like ever. My only wish is for a force refresh button for train times. When I’m waiting for my train I check the app like every 30 seconds but sometimes the expected times don’t update. Dunno if that’s just the transit APIs failing or not but I’d love a little arrow in a circle to press to make me feel better about whether it’s delays or just WiFi, yknow? Seriously though, 10/10 transit app

Fantastic App. I used this app to navigate all over London. I would literally have been lost without it. It took me a while to realize the little headlight was pointing me in the direction I should be headed, and a couple of times I had to restart the app to get it going properly, but that was a minor inconvenience. This app let me figure out which mode of transportation (or combination of modes) I should take to get to my destination and it let me factor in how much walking I was willing to do. Super app.

Honestly the most useful app on my phone. I use this app primarily when I travel to London and it has been life changing. Makes getting around the city a breeze - works great in real time or for advanced planning. I love that it shows all the options with time and cost - and goes so far as tell you which car on the tube will be less busy. I tell everyone I know that this app is a must have.

Invaluable for tourists. We found this app to be *invaluable* when traveling around the London area on vacation. I don't think we would have been able to navigate the bus system on our own. (We exclusively used the Underground on our last trip.) There were two minor quirks that bugged me. include that the "flashlight" (showing the direction you are facing) was sometimes wrong when we first got off the Tube. It's possible that GPS isn't as reliable in downtown London with all of the highrises. The other issue is that the walking speeds were overestimated - we tended to arrive early, but it could be that we walk fast. Being early isn't an issue. :-) I highly recommend this app for traveling in London. I would use a different app if I were driving around town, but this is the easiest I've seen for navigating public transit. I have not tried it in other cities yet, but plan to on my next trip.

Doesn’t update to account for service changes.. This app would be great if it updated itself based on current circumstances. Trains in NYC are constantly off schedule or not running for track maintenance among other reasons. However the City Mapper app always assumes the trains are running and on time, often leaving you standing on a platform waiting for a train that isn’t coming. The thing is the app shows when there are service changes, and what exactly those changes are. But doesn’t use that info for trip planning. If the app used that data to accurately plan a trip it would be 5/5. But without that capability it’s a solid 2/5.

Better than google maps. The aims of this app are ambitious, and I’m happy to report that it DELIVERS. From figuring out the optimal combination of buses and metro routes to reach a new pub in london, to navigating the labyrinth of streets and boat rides that is typical of a Venice, I never got lost with this app. All stops and schedules I looked up were accurate in up to date. By contrast, google maps had me looking for stops that no longer exist on more than one occasion. Use this instead.

Found the app complex to use. I’ve used CityMapper several times in the past. I even paid for the service for a month in London just a few days ago. However I found the app difficult to use. I had to switch to Google Maps several times. CityMapper didn’t make it obvious which direction I had to go, or whether I should wake to a tube station or take a different method. I wished the app would store the trip details offline. When I was in the tube, sometimes there wasn’t a cell signal, which rendered the app nearly useless.

The best friend for commuting. It’s suPer simple, packed with insane amount of information! And even when you have no idea where you’re going and what may be the right way, it has the iphone widget showing the closest transportation around you - wherever you are. And maybe there’s a better option just a block away from what the app is offering and I can get a coffee on the way. Life is optional in NY, this feature was amazing.

It Works. It works better than any of the other options available here in Seattle, but it has one of the most annoying user interfaces. It uses the real time data made available by King County Metro, which is useful. I really wish I could disable or at least hide the parts of the app that aren't useful to me and clutter up the available screen: rideshares, GO stats, top nav bar, commute. I would also appreciate better shortcuts integration, specifically, I don't want to have to launch a trip to check when the next bus home/work is approaching. Despite all these frustrations, the app still works the best out of what's available.

Great map multi-agency multimodal integration. Great map multiagency-multimodal integration. I used it mostly in Paris, where the multiple local public transit agencies do not coordinate with each other, in any way. I have been coming here for decades and this is the first map system that truly integrates many agencies. This makes it so much easier to get around. They even keep track of construction and most importantly when there is a transit-workers strike, which can happen often and with no advanced notice.

NY subway review. Obviously when you are underground and don’t have service it makes it impossible to track ur exact location. But it does a great job of getting ur location when u get service back. It also does a great job of mapping where you need to walk to switch stations, but it doesn’t tell you which subway to take (E train, J train, A train which can be confusing. But other than that it is very helpful

Please update for iPhone X/XS/XS Max Interface. LOVE this app - very reliable in NYC! The reason I’ve been using it over Google Maps is that I can view accurate wait times for the FUTURE and plan my trips accordingly. However, since upgrading to the iPhone XS Max, the button for this feature (as well as Settings and another icon I can’t make out) sits behind the battery, LTE indicator and camera “box” at the top of the screen, so I am unable to access any of them. Please please please release an update in which these icons are positioned lower on the screen!

Pretty amazing!!!!. This app is amazing in Seattle, it’s my automatic go-to. Sometimes it’ll be a bit off (really don’t feel like 25 minute walks when there’s a good connecting bus right next to me), but it blows everything else out of the water. Apple Watch companion is beyond incredible. Biggest complaint is this app doesn’t seem to know when a line is rerouted (while others do). That alone makes me check multiple transit apps before hand. Would be nice if you could find a way to integrate this information (if Apple maps can do it, I would sure hope you guys could do it too!!)

turn off calorie counts. I’m in the DC area and love that this app has local buses like the circuit bus that Google Maps doesn’t have, as well as the more accurate times and displays of route disruption (our Metro is undergoing a LOT of construction right now so this is incredibly helpful). I wish that the calorie counter could be disabled. I imagine it’s only useful for a few people (this is a transit app, not a workout one!) and could be very upsetting for people in recovery from eating disorders. If that feature was able to be turned off I would recommend this app to everyone!

Outstanding app for visitors to Paris and London!. Heard about this app from the forums on Trip Advisor, and I want to buy a drink for the person who recommended it! Coming from a city with little/non-existent public transit options, City Mapper made it super easy to get around both London and Paris on our recent holiday. Love the variety of route options, the cost and time estimators, and the tips about best cars, etc. Will absolutely be sharing with friends/family who might be traveling to a supported city!

The. Best. Hands. Down.. We spent eight days in NYC recently. It wasn’t my first or second time in the city, but it had been awhile since I’ve used the NYC subway. It has become a “hot mess”....literally. I’m so grateful we found this app early enough to actually enjoy our trip rather than spend hours walking aimlessly around with a confused google map and the local transit map. This app reports shut downs and delays much faster than the local transit app and its user friendly platform makes it extremely easy for even a first time visitor to efficiently get around.

Trip saver!. Downloaded and used this app for the first time on my FIRST time in New York. Omg. It literally saved my trip from having all the horror stories you hear about NY subways being difficult to understand and get around. It gives you very specific instructions that are very easy to understand. All you need to know is where ur going, be it the exact address or name of the location you are traveling to. Not once did I get lost! Will definitely use again any time I’m in a different city where I’ll be using public transportation.

Best Travel App. This map is better than Google Maps when it comes to navigating around cities that have public transportation. I have used it in Singapore, New York, and Paris. It provides live feeds of when the next metro or bus is coming and allows you to choose which one you take so that it can alert you when to get off. Another added benefit is that it tells you which metro exit to take so you don’t end up walking farther than you need to.

Great for multiple transit types!. Being new in DC and knowing I would have to go from walking to metro to bus to walking was daunting, but this app pretty much saves my tail every time. All transit types are in one place with departure times for each for one total arrival time estate and it guides you between each transit types and pings you when you're about to get off at your specific bus or metro stop. I hardly ever write reviews, but thought this one really deserved an extra 5 I'm the books!

Looses functionality. This is the one of the beat apps I’ve been using for years in different cities to navigate around, and it is really great. It also had very useful widget “saved stops”, which to my huge disappointment did not make it to new type of widgets and after recent update disappeared from the legacy too. That was the only widget I was using, and using daily, and now it’s gone. The app still great and serves the purpose well but I couldn’t stop feeling betrayed.

New Yorker Must-have app!. I cant leave my apartment without this app!!! I always calculate my ETD to ETA and Citymapper never failed me. From riding an uber, bus, subway, ferry or simply walking around this app perfectly give u inch by inch direction / perfect time of arrival. You’ll never be late again!!! I once left my phone and my time getting around was affected by an hour late. This app gives u the fastest way to arrive to your destination. And if you’re budgeting - you can take the cheapest ride possible. A MUST HAVE App indeed!

GET THIS APP. NOW.. I recently went to London for a vacation, and saw this app on almost every video on a channel called Love and London. I can confidently say that this app, by far, is the best app for traveling ANYWHERE. Not only is it easy to understand, it shows you the least expensive and fastest way to get where you need to go, and it’s accurate with how long it takes to get to your destination. I never write reviews for apps. Ever. But this app is well worth it, and I’ll be happily using it wherever I go!

Traded car for Citymapper in L.A.. For 25 years, a car was essential to living in Los Angeles. Then, public transportation improved enough and Uber/Lyft filled the gaps so that I could theoretically get around without my car. But Citymapper was the secret sauce: that’s when I got rid of my car. Having a car used to mean freedom of mobility in this sprawling city. Citymapper gave me the confidence to liberate myself from that mode, and I oddly feel more free. If i sounds like a plant for the app, I am not. It’s just that Citymapper has profoundly changed the way I live in my own city, 28 years later.

Absolutely Incredible!. Went on my first trip to New York with my girlfriend during Christmas time in 2020. We had no clue where to go or how things worked. After a little research we found this app and it was a lifesaver! Google maps and Apple Maps left us out on our own but CityMapper made sure we got to where we were headed! This is my go to get around app now wherever I travel that I will be public transportation or walking.

Perfect Nav Tool for Big Cities. I don’t use it to track exactly how long it will take me to get somewhere. That is a rough estimate and there are many factors playing into how long it will take you to get somewhere using multiple modes of unrelated transportation. It is perfect for finding the quickest route, and know when the next train/bus/car will be. You are constantly updated on the exact time of each mode’s arrival. Key for getting home and not getting lost.
