Wonderful Ebook app. This app was specifically designed for libraries at no charge to them or library patrons unlike Kjndle/Amazon which does charge libraries for the use of that app. This helps to reduce the cost of ebooks to public libraries enabling them to purchase more hard copy books and ebooks. No, I am not a librarian, just a huge book lover who reads anything of interest and have done so for many, many years. I have found this app very easy to use and I am 71 yes. old who still reads actual books but large print books in libraries do not include a large selection due to their higher cost. This app allows me to read new books via my tablet and still allows me to check out hard copy books, too. Unlike Overdrive, there is a far greater selection of books available through this app which I, for one, really appreciate! Thank you, 3M, for creating this app for our public libraries!

I’ve removed the Cloud Library app. I’ve only tried to read two books on Cloud Library and gave up on both. I can see why it has a shorter wait list for downloading a title. The first book had problems with turning the pages. It would look like the page was turned, but it would still be the page I had just read. If I used the table of contents, I could jump to a new chapter, but on short order, if not immediately, that would lock up. I tried opening and closing the book, removing and downloading it again, but nothing worked. On the second book, I had much less trouble with freezing. It had a problem that is becoming increasingly common in various apps. A lot of different things are activated by tapping the screen, and it’s hard to predict what will happen. On the second book, when I swiped the page to turn it, as often as not, what happened is that the gray top and bottom menus appeared and cut off most of the page. I got so sick and tired of constantly having to get them out of the way, that I returned the book when I was about 20% finished. I removed the app. I’m going to get hard copy when my only other option is Cloud Library.

False “furthest point” pop-ups. Its location tracking is poor. After a restart, or even just after not using the app for a few hours, it opens to the start of the chapter I’m reading instead of to the page I’m reading. If you take it up on the offer to go to your furthest point read, that is where it takes you - or to the last page of the previous chapter. And right now it’s popping up dialogue boxes to take me to my “furthest” point about once every 30 seconds, making me hit No over and over, which is so annoying that I’m here writing my first ever app review. It normally does this every now and then - but it’s gone into overdrive. Fun times! Also, I don’t know if it’s how my local library did their set-up, or if it’s inherent in the system, but I was reduced to scrolling through their entire catalogue of several thousand history books, because there was no meaningful way of refining my search to my more specific areas of interest.

Handy, and improved. I employ this app often as I am passionate about audiobooks. I listen to one to three books a week. Availability of books is dependent on the library of course but I do like the ease in bookmarking books while listening. I have learned how to program my preferences in browsing and have them remembered-note: you have to hit “star” icon. This app used to be a little buggy but it has improved dramatically. I do like that there are no extra steps between borrowing and downloading books. I can find out that a book is available to download and just immediately download the book, I don’t have to go to the web based account to connect a loan to the app (which is required by another app). There is a drawback to this app in adjusting listening location mid chapter but this is a pretty minimal issue. Glad to be able to use this app through my library.

Great, but frequently glitchy.. I love the vast selection of books and seeing some of my favorite series on here, however I constantly have issues with this app crashing immediately on launch, not letting me borrow books due to system errors, and it not keeping the proper page when reading. I often find that if I leave a book and come back, even for a short second, it will lose my page and move to the beginning of the chapter(sometimes even doing so when I accidentally tilt my phone to landscape mode) and sometimes it will skip pages when I try to turn them, moving to the next chapter instead. However, this app is a great system that has a good variety of books, and once they work past these errors, you will have an app on your hands that competes well with any e reader programs.

Locked out of app. I had this app on my iPhone. When I installed it on my iPad, I had to type in a password or pin. I thought I had created the password or pin and entered a few of my commonly used passwords. There was no button to push for “forgot password “. After a few tries, I got locked out of my account. I’ve tried everything, but I can’t get signed in again. After using Google, I found out the pin is the last four digits of your library card. I’m not sure why you have to use a pin like this… Something people won’t remember. The owner of the account should be able to create their own pin or password if you’re going to require one. These are just library books, it’s not high security, why do we need a password? I would love to get back into my account again. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Scrolling & pages. I too have used this app for years and have been very pleased with its ease of use. That is until the latest version came out. It no longer has pages listed, only chapters, the bookmark doesn’t take you to the exact spot in the chapter, there is no option to choose side “tap” vs. “scroll” when moving forward or backward. “Tap” now takes you to the next chapter or back to the previous chapter. To make matters worse, the last three times I opened Cloud Library it immediately shut down. I guess that solves the other problems because they never come into play anymore! My pet peeve with “enhancements” to perfectly working apps is that they are never a user’s choice, just a developer’s whim. I’ll probably move to Libby or one of the other apps. Bummer!

Thoughts. It would be nice books would be available sooner. Particularly, nonfiction. Many of the books, particularly the technical nonfiction books are in smaller print which is more difficult to read, particularly for an older person. I really like to read the books on electronic devices because the print can be increased in size, back lighted, listened to as well as read and displayed on a TV screen that is really excellent when you want to exercise on an stationary bike or elliptical. The ability to read, listen and copy specific memorable phrases or sentences help enable the memorization of certain facts. I would like to see an approach with the cloud reader similar to the samples offered in the Kindle software. I usually same a book on the Kindle and then download it using the Cloud Library. I can’t afford to pay for all of the Kindle versions or I would probably do that. Anyway, I love the Cloud Library and think that the Auburn Library does an excellent job of selecting newer books. Appreciate much. Regards, Terry Johnson

Good, but.... So, I don’t usually write reviews, but this is bothering me a bit. CloudLibrary is a great app, it’s free (yay!😌), and easy to use. There are a few glitches that have occurred recently, like where when I first download the book and start reading, the first few pages are normal, but then the pages after them are blank. Luckily, if you click out of the book, and click back in, it works. There’s another glitch where some books only have the option to suggest and save for later. It made me very disappointed when this happened with a book I had really been looking forward to reading. Please fix, if possible! 🙃✌🏻 EDIT: For some reason, it’s now working, sooo...🤷🏻‍♀️ Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Otherwise, this is a great app!👍🏻

Glitches in new update are driving me crazy. I have been using this app for the past year or so and loving it! Especially during Covid when our library has been closed. But a new update just came out which had a lot of promise. But it’s been glitchy and it’s driving me crazy! I’ll be reading or listening to a book and it interrupts me with “we’ve book marked where you left off, want to go there?” I say “no” because obviously I’m reading or listening where I want to be. But today it kept interrupting and giving me this same message over and over. Also, it switches between “scroll” mode and “flip/turn pages” mode on its own while i’m reading and then freezes. I have to close the app altogether and reload in order for it to correct. Then it does it again a bit later. Please developers correct these glitches!

Frustrated by bugs. I have used this app for over a year and had been completely satisfied with it. However recently I’ve experienced an issue with moving from page to page. Sometimes the last line or two are missing from the bottom of the page and I have to fool around with it before it shows up. At other times I flip to the next page and it’s clearly not a continuation of the previous page so then I have to go back several pages and subsequently move forward to try to resync the pages. It’s very annoying and it goes without saying that this is basic functionality that is key to a reading app. Please please fix this!!! I have an updated iPhone 6. Update: several months later I continue to periodically have problems with this app. Right now I experienced an issue where I cannot turn the page in the book I’m currently reading. After trying different workarounds I deleted the app and am going to reinstall it. Why does this continue to happen with this app? I understand that it’s free, but I expect better if I’m going to use it and recommend to others.

Too many iseues. I would like to rate this app 5 stars but the bugs keep showing up and I am about ready to give up. I like the ability to filter search results and the ease of checking out or returning a book, but the core job of the app is to read books, not try and find where you were when you swipe to go to the next page and end up a chapter plus ahead and all you can do is swipe backwards and hope you recognize the page you were on last. Or everytime you open a book, it gets to the start of the chapter you were reading but not the page you were actually on and while you swipe page by page, suddenly the 1st issue happens and you are a chapter ahead. I have reported my problems to the library and they have tried to help but so far nothing has worked, including deleting and reinstalling the app. Please fix this problem!! Thank you.

Horrible reading experience, nothing to recommend. If I could give this app 0 stars, I would. I’ve updated, reinstalled it, and it makes no difference. CloudLibrary is, by far, the worst reading experience I have ever encountered, and I’ve read on hoopla digital. The glare cannot be contained, the text options are limited, and there’s no margin spacing. The real reason this app deserves zero stars, however, are the skips. I touch to turn the page (which is a nightmare, even when it just turns one page, if it turns), and it skips forward or backwards, randomly. This does not remember where you are, and when you close the app/webpage and bookmark it, even, none of that exists when you reopen. I spend at least twice as long trying to find my page (which takes forever) than I do reading, and that’s not an exaggeration. I spent 20 minutes this evening trying to find my page. My bookmark was not where I placed it (believe me, I double checked). It is nearly impossible to track where you are in the book. Each time I’m forced to use cloud library (when there is no other option but to buy, and usually I buy) and I say to myself, “Surely it will be fixed this time…” but no, it’s never fixed. What a terrible app for reading this is. It may be fantastic for everything else, but I’m a reader, and I can’t believe my library replaced overdrive with this monstrosity.

Make me dislike reading. I love reading, but I’m seriously struggling to use this app. It doesn’t track my location appropriately, and often when I start reading again I have to scroll forward many many pages to try and find the right spot again. There also seem to be a ways to scroll forward or backwards huge amounts with simple tops near the top of the screen, and I don’t know what’s causing it or how far is going, and then have to struggle scrolling backwards, multiple pages to try and find my spot again. I’m also having fits with highlighting. copying text, reviewing notes, stuff like that that. It doesn’t seem to work at all over a page break, and sometimes the menu features when holding a set of selected text are completely different than other times. I can’t figure it out. If I did paper notes from a hard copy book, it would be highly preferable. I guess I will go back to doing that. This app is infuriating me right now and almost making me hate reading.

Mediocre app. I much prefer when my library used Libby. Right now it’s showing like 90% of the books on hold. There’s no way!! And they all (or mostly all) will be available in 2 days. Also, like others have said, it doesn’t remember where it left off and so I have to try to find where I last stopped. So many glitches over the past few years and changes to things that don’t need to be changed!! Please fix this hold thing!!! I’m going to uninstall and reinstall to see if that helps 🤷‍♀️. If I don’t change this, it didn’t work. BTW, I’m not at all a complainer, but I love my audiobooks!!! The fact that these are free to listen to is why I didn’t go below three stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. Update: It didn’t help and I forgot to include that I have my search settings set to only show available titles, but it still also shows ones on hold. Unless that’s just a part of this glitch.

Good App. Overall, this is a great app. It is a fantastic resource in these times of the pandemic. As a free library reader, it solidly does the job. I do find it frustrating when features are taken away in a way that removes the option to use it the way it was before. Tying the brightness to the device brightness probably sounded like a good idea. However, now the lowest setting is at least 5 times brighter than I used to use (low system beightness combined with low app brightneds). It would be better if when the developers change a feature, they need to add a setting to allow the old functionality. How about a prompt or setting that says ‘Would you like to tie the brightness to the screen brightness?’. Then, if I say yes, fine. If I say no, let me use the original functionality which was working fine for me.

Not impressed. I am not impressed with the Cloud Library app. I have it up to date and on an up to date iPad. Sometimes it refuses to load. Sometimes it seems to forget I’m halfway through the book and sends me to page 1, so I have to hunt for where I left off. I can’t just pick up with a book I was reading on my iPad with my phone because it doesn’t seem to be able to translate locations. I uninstalled it and reinstalled however I continue to have issues, including new ones such as being able to see a book I have checked out listed in My Books, but not being able to open it, it taking 45-60 seconds for a book to open (gets stuck on the three bars loading symbol), and the latest - I tried to return a book and twice got an “unknown error” message. This is just so sad to have experienced six or seven distinct errors in a single app. The only reason I keep using it is because it’s the only way I can check out digital content from my library.

Fine but…. Okay so I love that I can connect to my local library via and app and borrow audio books, that’s very cool HOWEVER this app could really use some help. The app itself is slow and laggy and is fickle in its response to my trying to pause my book IF it allows me to pause at all which it often does not, and I have to close out the application to get the book to stop playing and reopen it to resume the book. My biggest gripe about this particular bug is when I’m listening to a book in the car and am driving, if I’m in a situation ( like a drive thru) where I need to pause my book I have to close the app out as it doesn’t respond to my car at all, and sometimes not even when I attempt to pause on my phone. It’s very annoying and overall the app is fine but I wish it was a bit less clunky.

Frustrating, slow, and horrid searching. While I enjoy checking out books without needing to travel to the library, the frustrations with this app come very close to negating the convenience. After checking out a book and then trying to download it to begin reading, I often most try many times to get the download to begin. Usually it requires quitting and relaunching the app multiple times and still it takes repeated attempts to download. This is on WiFi or full strength 5G. The search function is horrid. I literally just now searched for a book that I currently have checked out and it says no results found. Advanced search does no better. I can search for an author whose book I have checked out and it can’t find the author, either. If you want to just browse instead of searching and you’re okay with five minutes of frustrating clicking and relaunching to download one book, you might be okay with this app. Trying to quickly select a new book and begin reading or searching for books by a favorite author and this app will have you reaching for your car keys to drive across town to the library instead. More than a year later, searching is still horrible. Searching a database is nothing new. Programmers have been doing it since the 1950’s. It’s a shame that this app is still so bad at it.

Unstable app. I have used this app religiously for years; I use it on one of my devices daily. I usually love this app, especially because at least for my library, there are no monthly limits on borrows. However, in the past 1-2 months, I’ve had more problems than not! It won’t recognize that I have books checked out, when I know I do. I’ll check the history, and it’s blank; I check for my saved books (easily over 200 of them) and it will tell me there are none. Generally I have uninstalled/reinstalled (annoying but simple) the app, and it’s fine. Today I kept getting a (new to me) error that I wasn’t connected to the internet when I can see my WiFi signal has full bars and other devices (tv) are clearly connected. I disconnected WiFi to run off 5G and had the same “no internet connection” error. I even deleted and reinstalled the app, and when I tried to sign in with my card number and PIN, got told it was “unable to log me in”. Why has this app been so unstable lately? PLEASE fix this as this is my primary distraction during “stay at home” orders!

Latest Update DO NOT UPDATE. My C/L just updated on my iPad Pro and It is the pits. I have been trying to find help And nothing. It is as if they are avoiding me. And they should be - it doesn’t scroll, change pages, have page numbers at the bottom, have a scroll bar at the bottom - all the things I liked about the program. It scrolls endlessly down and you have no idea of where you are or what page you are on and the it seems to jump around and you have to hunt to find where you were. My wife was going nuts. I finally went too an older iPad that is too old to be upgraded, thank the gods, and it is back to the older app. It is great. Exactly what the app should be, before they started messing with it. It was such a great app. Please roll everything back.

I am reading again!. This app has helped me read books again. For a few years now I have been so busy and cannot find time to read. With this app I can! Now I download audio books (for free) to listen to while I drive in the car or in my headphones when I walk or if I am waiting at the doctor or for a meeting or out walking. This is great, because I have books on my mobile device that I always carry- I always have books with me. I also download books to just read on my mobil device and I don’t have to worry about late fees. My elderly mom who was an avid reader but has had eye problems of late is now able to “read” again too, because of the audio books. All this takes is a library card. So simple. The only downside is sometimes the audio versions of a book I want are not available, so I have to get the digital one and I have to stare at a screen to read & that I cannot do while I drive, workout or walk. More audio versions would be nice if possible, please!

SO Frustrating!. I was so disappointed when our library chose this app to offer its members. It was not user friendly, was unwieldy and no where near as enjoyable read as Libby, the previously used app. But lately this app has gotten to be so awful it’s almost to the point of me giving up. 2 out of every 3 books I download ends with an “error in downloading” and I don’t even get the book I had been waitlisted for. Sometimes the pages won’t turn or they turn but return to the same page over and over. I’m trying to read a book now where every time I get to one particular page the app just shuts down. I’ve tried powering down and reopening and sometimes that helps, other times it makes no difference. I read 2-5 books a week so to not be able to use this app is highly frustrating.

Buggy for kids books. This app is great for kids books from the local library, but many other of them are formatted such that they would require adjustments. Sadly, the controls are mostly unresponsive - moving pixels at a time... needs major help... Updated - still a mess for many kids books and adjustments majorly lacking. Trying to get to the “hidden menus” are painful at best. Put a button on there, geez... Also, please put a restart button or auto rewind after finishing the book - anyone remember VHS? Yeah, try explaining it to a toddler and that “we can’t read that book anymore because you can’t get to menu to go back to the beginning” - even after returning and reborrowing it keeps its place... App also regularly crashes on books over 20 or so pages and it can’t ever keep track of preview thumbnails. I mean seriously, 6 books all labeled differently and have the same book cover and content as the one that is opened first when app is launched. Only way to fix it is to return and redownload the book. Wouldn’t use this app if it were a paid app, only use it because I haven’t found another app to access local library content. Downgraded to 1 star.

Update. May 2021 Just updated and they still haven’t fixed the page numbers!!! That being said- I still use the app to read every single day. Have been using it for years and reading amazing books for free! Just please fix the page numbers!!!, April 2021 New update made the pages all wrong - fix that! There still is no lock for the screen orientation and I really miss that. As for the basics, I can borrow books for free. There are tons of choices in all sorts of genres. What more could you want! Sept. 12 There’s been another update. There’s still no screen rotation lock, which I used ALL the time. You still can’t see how many pages are left in your chapter. Summer: I’ve been using this app for many years. I’ve had no problems with this app until now. I’m very disappointed with this update. They’ve removed the feature where you can lock the screen rotation while reading. Every time I open the app and my book, I have to find the page where I left off despite having bookmarked the page. The indicator that I have a new message never goes away no matter how many times I open it and read the only message there from 9 months ago. I gave this update one star since giving zero isn’t an option. FIX THIS!

Unreliable. A decent enough reading app but it’s wildly unreliable. Recent updates actually took away functionality that I was using - like the ability to lock rotation. Why on earth would you take that away? Also the Library Message section now always had an exclamation point/notification, even though there aren’t any library messages. Also the fun new thing it started doing with the last update is not returning to the last page you were on and instead returning to the beginning of the chapter you’re on. Every now and again, it un-downloads my books, won’t actually return or renew items after I tap on the option to do so. It’s buggy and I really wish the library I paid taxes to used Libby bc that app isn’t nearly this unreliable.

Horrible after update. I used to love cloud library, but after a recent update it no longer functions. Way to ruin a great app! It took me several tries to even find the list of ebooks from my local library and now the ebooks won’t download at all when, before this update, they downloaded easily. Also the new app deleted my user history including a carefully curated list of books I intended to read. The app supposedly has more features after the redesign (and it may have more features that I don’t use or care about) but the features I always used and loved now don’t work. The new app also offers many books that aren’t available at my library. It’s a frustrating waste of time to browse through books, see something that you like and then be presented only with the options to “save for later” (whatever that means!?!) or “suggest” (I don’t want to be the collection curator for my local library. That’s what I count on librarians for!) The interface is counter-intuitive and hard to use. What a horribly stupid update. Please restore the functionality of the previous version ASAP.

Great app! Feature request?. Overall, this is a terrific app for accessing electronic resources (I use it primarily for audiobooks) available from my local library. Even works well remembering where I left off across multiple devices. Kudos on the app, mostly. Couple of things. Possibly feature requests? 1) Please add to the sleep timer on audio books an ‘End of Chapter’ option. It’s nice to leave off at a chapter rather than just a specific amount of time. As it stands now I have to dive into the chapter list and figure out how much time is left in the chapter and then try and peg it just right at the right time in the sleep timer to be approximately at chapter end. To the end user, there is no reason I shouldn’t also have an end of chapter option. 2) How about a bug report / feature request button in the app itself. There is no way that I can find to report bugs or request enhancements except by writing a review. Plenty of FAQs and the like, but if I can’t find it there, then no other way to communicate with development team that I can tell. Thank you!

Was great, but now getting worse. I love how easy it is to search and borrow books from my library and save titles for later. However, as time goes on the app gets more and more glitchy and works less consistently. Most times it says I don’t have any saved titles though I know I do. Occasionally, my list will actually show up. I have no “history” despite having borrowed dozens of books. And if I don’t lock my screen orientation and I accidentally tip it (from portrait to landscape then back to portrait) I will have lost my place in the chapter and I have to figure out where I was. Or sometimes my scrolling will jump me to the next chapter. It’s getting very frustrating to use this app, which is unfortunate because it used to work better. Please do something to make it work more consistently! Also, I don’t know if this has to do with the app, or how a book is created for it, but I recently borrowed an audio book (it was the only available format for that title) and it had no chapter markings. I would have liked to be able to jump back and listen to certain sections again, but I couldn’t find a way to do that.

Out of date and defective audio controls. I was able to connect to my library and check out an audio book. However the audio controls seem way behind what iOS and latest audio apps on Apple Watch support. You can only skip chapters in watch - no skip back/forward 15/30 seconds. This is table stakes now with these apps. On the phone - you can skip back a few seconds at a time, maybe 15 or so. But if you try to grab the little seek knob and slide forward through the chapter, it just keeps jumping back to where you were listening. The work around is to drill into the chapter list and use the seek control there if you want to pan forward through the chapter. There is also no support for the live notification on newer iPhones with the dynamic island. I am giving this app one star for this terrible audio book UX. With just a few hours of development these gaps could be addressed. I hope they read this and update the app.

This app needs serious improvements!!!. I was forced by my library to switch from Overdrive to Cloud Library. It's just not the same or as good. I can't find as many books as I used to. The search results are awkward and take up too much space to scroll through efficiently. And if I look at a book and go back, it puts me back to the beginning of the list and then I have to scroll back through to see where I left off - very time consuming. The sleep timer does not work anymore - it used to but something happened (a bad upgrade perhaps?) and now it never works. With the old app (Overdrive), I could easily -- EASILY -- scroll back 30 minutes by touch because you scrolled through chapters. This app, that scroll is for the whole book so you scroll back a little by swipe and you've going way too far. Forget going to the chapters and finding where you were. So finding your spot again is a difficult, near-impossible, colossal waste of time, so much so that I often find myself buying audio books rather than listening to them on here, even if they're available -- for free, mind you. This app is so non-user friendly that I prefer to pay for books rather than get them for free. Read that sentence again.

Convenient but buggy. Update: I’m lowering my rating from 3 stars to 2 because I see that the issue I complained about previously has still not been fixed. When I am scrolling from page to page through a chapter, the book will suddenly scroll forward several pages, like to the end of a chapter even though I have ten pages still left to read before the next chapter. I described the same problem below, and it still hasn’t been fixed. This is really annoying!!! I have been using CloudLibrary for a few years now, and I was pretty satisfied with it until the latest update a few months ago. When you turned the page in the previous version, it actually looked like a page turning, like on a Kindle, and I really liked that feature. Now it just changes from one screen to another, pretty boring. Far, far worse than that, however, is the way the app randomly skips pages when I am turning a page. I will turn from, say, page 22 to page 23, and all of a sudden, I am on page 35 for no apparent reason. Then, I have to go back and search for the page I was actually on. This keeps happening no matter what book I read. I truly appreciate the convenience of being able to read books for free whenever I want to through my library’s subscription to CloudLibrary, but this weird bug is basically the only reason I am leaving this review. I wish it would be fixed.

Will you please fix this app?!. Updated after iPhone upgrade: I just did the upgrade on my iPhone 6 and app won’t even open. So sorry I upgraded as now I can’t listen to my checked out audio books. Please get your developers working on bug and performance fixes. This app is a disappointment! I mainly use the iPad version and am displeased and frustrated with it, especially the new UI. History does not work. The biggest frustration is that every time I stop reading at book mid chapter, when I reopen the app it goes back to the beginning of the chapter. I thought a work around would be to set a bookmark before I closed the app, but that doesn’t work because the bookmark takes me to the beginning of the chapter. Earlier versions of this app did not have this problem. You need to deploy an emergency bug fix release soon as you’ve made this an unusable tool for reading ebooks from my library and I’m sure they are paying lot of money for their ebook subscriptions.

New app change to BOOKMARKS is terrible!. I would have given thus app a 5-star rating BEFORE the recent major update. My biggest complaint is about a feature I use constantly - bookmarks. They no longer appear at the top of the page unless you tap the center of the page first. Why that extra step??? Now if I go back a few pages to look something up, I can’t just easily navigate back to the bookmarked page. I have to tap in the center of every single page. So stupid. Even worse, when you tap on e page it frequently advances forward or backwards and you can’t tell where you are since there are no bookmarks anymore. And when I open the book I have no idea if I’m on the right page or not because I don’t see my bookmark. You used to be able to simply tap the top right corner to place a bookmark, and now you have to go through the extra step of tapping in the center and then tapping on top, and then, instead of being rewarded for your effort by a bookmark showing up, you still have to keep tapping the center to see it. And it just makes the icon black so it isn’t even an obvious bookmark like before. Please make it the way it used to be where you can just tap ONE TIME in the upper right corner, and then leave the darn bookmark there so we know it’s there!!! People who actually read books regularly on this app are the only ones who should be allowed to mess around with it. I also want the brightness adjustment within the app.

Cloud library. The new version of cloudLibrary put up some weeks ago is awful. You can never get back to the page you’re reading. The screen sometimes appears in small print with a different background color than that with what you are normally reading. And finally when you swipe to turn pages sometimes you canMove an unknown number of pages and you have to search to get back to the location you were reading. Most irritating. A considerable dis-improvement from the previous version. Furthermore I read books off-line. I don’t see the need to be irradiated with radio frequency radiation while reading a book. Once downloaded I want the book to be readable off-line with all of the reader features working.

Really don’t like the update….. I have been using the Cloud Library app for quite a while and found it pretty user friendly. This latest update, however, has removed some of the features that I found most useful. With the listings of current, history, holds, and saved books now side-by-side, when there are three options for what to do with the book, the third one is no longer directly accessible. Takes longer to get things done. The number of books on hold or checked out is no longer at the top of the list. You have to count them individually. Also, the history of books previously checked out is now very limited instead of a complete history. This very much defeats the way in which I use the history in conjunction with the saved list. Seems like the programmers don’t actually use this app. Lastly, the new “kids mode “ is really annoying for those of us who have no children using this app. There should be a way to easily hide or turn it off.

Fingers Crossed. My rating is based on comparison to software I use which costs money or if free is older version of tried and true software. Anyhow heres hoping version 5.0.7.5 I just downloaded for use on new ipad fixes at least most of bugs/problems associated with earlier versions ( i.e recently installed version 5.0.6.5 actually more frustrating than earlier versions—kept forgetting current position in book when I closed and later re-opened book; often forgot who I am and required repeated log in; often opens with tiny font size different from my selected font size and will not accept changing font size when that happens; occasionally would open and then immediately shut down; and so on). Could eventually work around some bugs (i.e. disconnect from internet and open book “offline” to work around open/shutdown bug ). Earlier versions prior to 5.0.6.5 would go hours refusing to open at all. Maybe covid has driven so many people to online library that system is overwhelmed?

Needs Improvements!. I listen to audio books and constantly have an issue, nearly if not every time I pause the story, that it skips way forward or way back, and I have to spend half my time trying to find where I left off. The options to go forward or back for a larger amount of time are too few and far between, so it is not helpful what so ever. My library went from Overdrive to this app, and I wish I had the other app back. Another complaint that I have is that the selection here was said to have been larger, but I’m not finding that to be the case. The search option requires specific spelling and complete titles, often I’m not sure of. The overdrive app had suggestions that helped me find what I was looking for. Also, this app doesn’t have a full collection of books in series. I could understand not having the lastest book in a series, but often I can ONLY find the latest of a series, which I can’t read bc I can’t find the previous books. It’s very frustrating and I’m disappointed in the app. I don’t have a CD player or tape player in my vehicle at work, so I can’t just checkout from the library. I’m very fed up and frustrated with this app, but I don’t have any other option from my library, so unfortunately I’m stuck with it. If updates become available with fixes to these issues, or if there is another way I can have some of these issues addressed, I’d be glad to receive that info and take it up with anyone who could help. Thanks.

Walking books. I listen to books while I walk. Not especially happy to exercise, but I want to listen to the next chapter, so I walk. Before I know it, 30 minutes is gone and my walk is over. I never thought I would like to “listen” to books being read, but love it now. I can sew or cook and still listen. Love holding a book until I used this app. Being able to adjust the font size and having it lit up makes it so easy to read at night in bed. No more heavy books on my lap. Best of all the books are FREE from the library. Some books may not be available right away, but placing a book on hold is easy. It doesn’t take long before the book is available. I always suggest the app to friends in hopes they will enjoy it as much as I do.

Thank you times a million!. My old car had a CD player. I checked out audiobooks from the library all the time for long commutes and visits to friends in other states. After a while, I noticed my options were dwindling. When I got a new car, it didn’t have a CD player. I freaked out and bought a portable one so I could listen to my audiobooks. Then, I learned about Cloud Library. It’s amazing!! The selections are endless, including new releases. I just check out and download a book through the app on my phone, and it plays in my car! I don’t have to worry about changing CDs or remembering where I left off. It’s all right here on my phone! Sometimes I even listen when I’m not driving. Listening to audio books allows me to double or even triple the number of books I consume. The fact that I can listen for free with my library card is amazing. I’m so so grateful for Cloud Library and for all my local Columbia County (Florida) library branches and the wonderful people who work in them. (Special shoutout to the Ft. White branch. That place feels like home when I walk in.)

Before IOS Update. Before the latest IOS update CloudLibrary was a good app. Now it crashes constantly or stops playing & asks if you want to continue playing where you left off. Please fix this bug as soon as possible. The only other complaint I have is there’s no way to rate the books you’ve read in the IOS app. I read 5 to 7 books a week & sometimes I reborrow a book only to realize I’ve already read it. Would be nice to have a star or flag to show books you’ve checked out in the past for readers like me. With that being said CloudLibrary & my local library has brought me great joy, sadness, love, loss, travel & adventure through the hundreds if not thousands of books I was allowed to borrow. For that I thank you for all of your efforts to keep this app working.

Island of the Blue Dolphins, by Scott O’Dell. I teach English Language Arts to students in the 4th grade of life. The reading theme, this lesson series, just happens to be about survival. O’Dell’s award winning novel of the coming from school age to a strong resilient young lady, “Kranna;”that was left on an island off the Santa Barbara coast of California to fend for herself is incredible! This Is truly a realistic nonfiction account that has my public charter students, in their own urban insular enthralled in reading a book. Sharing that if we can survive like Kranna nothing can stop us. CBS, 60 minutes, grants my class a text to text (media) reading comprehension connection. Finally what’s your island of spirit animals? My wife’s would be giraffes, she loves them. Mine are whales. Whenever I’m taking a certification test or something I close my eyes for a second and explain the question to the whale in his habitat, the ocean, the amusement peers when the orca reply’s “what’s a question?”

Glitchy and frustrating. I’ve been using this app for a few years. Only recently, the app gets quite glitchy. It shuts down in middle of the book. It skips pages, some time, the entire chapter. When I turn the page backward to re-read a name or place, it would jump to a different section/page entirely, so I have to search for current page. Last but not least, when I click on footnotes to read, there’s no way to go back to the page I was reading, so I have to either bookmark (or do the old fashion way of remembering which page I was on) before checking out the footnote. This gets quite cumbersome when there are a lot of footnotes. Grrrh. Very frustrating. I wish this app would link with the kindle app, so I can borrow books then read on my Kindle. Reading on kindle is less distracting than reading on the phone. Some libraries use the Libby reading app, and the Libby app link with Kindle app, so I’m able to borrow and read with my Kindle. Very convenient. Highly recommend Libby app, instead of this glitchy Cloud Library. I’ll have to report to my current library to see if they can change platform!

Pretty good. I absolutely loved this app and would have given it five stars until about a month ago. I would try to borrow a book, but it would either say “error” or load for so long that I would just quit trying. And by the way, it’s not that I already had three books and hit my max, but I had ZERO books already checked out. And if I managed to get a book to download into my library, it would just be loading forever until I made it stop. So I tried deleting the app and redownloading, but when I opened it I had to go through the login process again. I put in my language, country, state, and library, hit next… the terms and conditions came up as a blank page, with no next button or anything. I have been trying and trying to even login, but that’s kinda hard to do when you can’t get past terms and conditions.

Poorly-Designed User Interface and Functionality. Suddenly the eBooks from my library are available only in this format, rather than Kindle. It was okay, definitely not great, for the first couple books I read using this app. But the search capability isn’t very useful, and the text selection ability is awful (I still haven’t been able to get copying to work at all, or to highlight or look up more than one word at a time). Now I’m trying to read a publication that has copious footnotes, which I would dearly like to read. Although they appear as blue superscript numbers, they aren’t active, i.e., you can’t tap on a footnote number, read the associated footnote text, and return to where you were in the main text. No, you have to set a bookmark for the first page of notes at the end of the book, activate the menu, select Notes/Highlights, and then navigate through to the desired numbered footnote. And then, it seems, you have to navigate, via the Table of Contents or the bottom page slider, back to the page you were previously reading.

Eh…almost better than nothing. Updated to remove a star, leaving one single star as the rating. I cannot stand this app. It’s garbage. The 4.7 rating is bull and clearly fabricated if you actually look at the five star reviews. Tonight the book blurbs won’t load, nor am I even able to borrow or save any books based on cover/title alone as the borrow and save buttons have completely disappeared. This app is a piece of hot, stinking, mid-summer, humid day, full of rotten meat garbage. Much prefer Libby to Cloud Library. The functionality here is severely lacking. Interface feels outdated and is missing basic things like being able to see that I already checked a book out either from the list when searching or on the details page once you click in to read the blurb about the book. If I hadn’t moved and been forced to use this app instead of Libby by my local library I never would have changed. Wish I could go back to Libby, so much so in fact I’ve started researching where the nearest library that uses Libby is so I can go there to see if I can somehow pay for a guest card or something. Not to mention the catalog of books is much more limited, not sure if that’s my library system’s issue or the app’s issue, but it’s very noticeable. Two stars because something is better than nothing, but there’s a lot of room for improvement here.

Love it, but experiencing problems. First I want to point out how much I LOVE the idea of this e-book library, it’s so so so great. However, the app has been glitching for me lately. I borrowed one book that I got quite invested in, but it would never remember the page I was on when I reopened the app even if I bookmarked it. I got tired of scrolling through literally hundreds of electronic pages to try to find where I was and I eventually gave up on finishing the book. Other books seem to be working better, but there have been a couple times where page turning didn’t work at all; it would show the animation, but remain on the same page. Fortunately, turning my phone off and back on has seemed to correct this issue so far. I have a new iPhone XS, so I’m not totally sure what the problem is. Again, I LOVE this app, and have used it for years now, but lately it’s not performing well at all. Pleeeease either fix or let me know that I’m just technologically illiterate! 😂

I hate this app. Not user-friendly, it’s user-hostile.. I just started to read a borrowed library book in the app, but have paused my reading to come here and give it a one-star rating. I find the interface confusing, buggy, and (compared to the far superior Kindle app), also less attractive (though the difference is subtle). It took me a few tries to figure out how to simply highlight a passage, and another few tries to figure out how to delete the one I highlighted incorrectly. Once I did that and returned to the page, the “deleted” highlight was still there, until I closed and reopened the book. I have memberships with a few local libraries, and I ALWAYS look for the ones that work with the Kindle app, and only use CloudLibrary when I have no other option. It’s a frustrating program. 8/7/19 update: The app is *slightly* less frustrating than it was when I wrote my original review in 2018. Some of the glitches I reported to their tech support over a year ago are still there (e.g., highlighting text is confusing, often difficult, and the interface for doing it is ugly and breaks conventions). It’s still far inferior to the Kindle app and I still will try to avoid library books which require using this app.

New Update Ruins Reading Experience. I’m someone who’s willing to pay foe good apps, so maybe the fact this one is free tells you how little support there will be. The recent update (September 2020) has made this almost unusable on the IPad. It switches back and forth between light and dark background. It routinely loses track of the last read location, meaning the reader has to recall and move around each time the book is closed. And an annoying popup window appears every 3 to 8 minutes asking if I want to go to the “last read position” . Bad bad update. As of 1/3/21, I learned NEVER to update this app and without reading what happened to others. The new update apparently causes lots of people to lose their history or otherwise render the app useless. Not sure how the developer gets paid (maybe library license fees), but they’re clearly not a shop with a good testing protocol. Though my old version still has the September bugs and annoyances, at least it still works. NEVER update this app until you check to see how what havoc the newest release has created.

Please help. I’ve been loving this app for several months. Recently I’ve become very frustrated by an apparently new glitch; almost every time I stop reading & bookmark a page, I discover that when I return to resume reading the book has frozen at the beginning of that chapter or on that page. I can’t continue reading unless I shut down my Apple phone, the quicker fix, or more time-consuming - delete the entire app & then download it again. That means going to my country & State & re-entering my Library card & also downloading the books again. Luckily, it does then take me back to the place in the book where I stopped reading. However it’s frustrating & time consuming. I love using an app to electronically borrow books from my library. And when I first started using Cloud Library it was so convenient & worked consistently well. Now, it’s just frustrating an unreliable. Please help. PS. I wish there was an easier way to send you feedback when a glitch exists. I talked to the reference librarian at my local library & he too has recently been having problems with this app as well, so at least I know there are 2 of us. Since there’s no way to send feedback beyond this review, I wonder if you even know there is a problem?

Good but needs improvement. Overall I’ve been impressed by this app - two things I think it could do better: with the e-book functionality on iPhone (as I don’t have a kindle or dedicated e-reader) it doesn’t keep your page placement when you switch out of the app - it defaults back to the last chapter page. It can be frustrating when it’s a longer chapter and you have to scroll back over pages you’ve already read to find where to resume reading. Secondly, it would be great if the app offered dark mode.

The rising tide. Very convenient and the service was immediate however was a little disappointed I couldn’t adjust the font on my iPad to be larger this could also be because it is older iPad.

Not bad, but not great. Hard to get the bookmark option to display. Weird habit of going back quite far in the novel if u accidently hit the screen, and then u have to try and get the bookmark feature to display your last bookmark. Prefer my kindle, but this is the only library option available to me.

Easy to read but slow and still needs work. Page display is good and easy to read from, however most functions take a long time to load. Borrowing and placing a hold doesn’t always work, despite giving indication of processing on screen. Love the ability to save a book for later/create a to read wish list. Is it possible to extend a loan?? I couldn’t find this function and very annoying to not finish book in one loan period and have to wait til it is next available

Great concept, terrible app. Edit: came up with a fix for opening books. As long as you've downloaded the book already, open the app while your phone is in airplane mode. Doesn't crash! Love the idea, and great when it works. But it so often doesn't. On iPhone, frequently takes at least ten tries to open a book without crashing. I'm currently on try 15 for my current book when I gave up to write this review! PLEAD fix!

Some problems. Initially I found this App to be excellent with no problems at all but lately it keeps closing down unexpectedly, sometimes won’t allow me to download the book, other times just 'blanks out' when I’m part way through the book. Very annoying.

Go next page but skip 18??!. Support to improve app is terrible and none of self help modules covers this annoying problem. Read one page even if start of chapter, swipe to next page and find jumped to the start of the next chapter??? Just happened now and I counted 18 pages to get back. Have had app years now and use sporadically cause this issue gets annoying. One stage when Covid first hit it would continuously happen spoiling stories. Did all the delete/ reset/ updates but a major flaw ruining UX. Just want to read a good story/author not mountains of your unhelpful advise. Have 5 reader apps to keep me sane all have contact help/ feedback EXCEPT this one. Fix both issues & get 2 more stars

Crashes. Used to be fine but latest updates keep crashing.

Could be better. I like the range of available books, and as a traveller it’s great to have access wherever I am. But the performance of the app leaves a lot to be desired - loading is slow and comes up with random errors, and even when you get into the book, it often freezes on a page, and you can only get onto the next part by reducing the font to minuscule then the page turns. Annoying!

Awesome but.... Hello, I love Cloud Library but I would suggest two small improvements... 1. You could X out books you don’t need to see either because you’ve read them or their shirt you to tears. 2. It’d be great to hide children’s content. It’s absolutely not relevant to me. Ta!

Good selection. Cloud has a good selection of authors. I’ve enjoyed reading some of my favourites and some that are new to me. My only complaint is this irritating little box that keeps popping up offering to take me to a page where I supposedly stopped before. Over and over, interrupting my reading.

E-book Sceptic. My first experience of leisure reading on a tablet and am enjoying it against a longtime cynicism of the medium. I don’t think it will totally replace paper and printer’s ink for me but Cloud Library is opening up access to titles that would otherwise be difficult to obtain in print.

E books. I love love love the convenience of these books. Especially now that I can increase the font sizes. It’s my way forward. THANK YOU so much for this efficient system.

Crashes all the time. It’s easy to find and borrow books, but the app crashes all the time when I’m reading. Even when I restart the app, it will crash again when I get to that same page. (To get the page to load, you have to use the linked TOC in the front of the book to go past the crash page, and then back to it.) Also, the bookmarking and table of contents features don’t seem to work.

App glitches. One of my absolute favourite apps during the pandemic, thank you! However for the last month or so, the app keeps crashing randomly or doesn’t bookmark the audiobook properly where I stop listening (missing by a chapter usually). Please fix! Otherwise a very grateful app user 😊

So many glitches. I have used this app for several years now and still find the glitches make it tricky to read without disruption. Turning pages is the biggest issue- it often will skip the entire chapter in one page turn.

Has been good. Been using this app a while now and it’s been good up until the last couple of books I’ve read. Everyone I go in to read my book again it’s blank and I have to shut down the app to and open the book from scratch to get it to come back. Getting a bit frustrating.

Not overly impressed.. Not greatly impressed with 4.2 I have found it randomly changes font size on me and on a couple of occasions it has jumped entire chapters when turning a page.

Latest version very unstable. Latest version 5.0.10 will not stay open and has deleted all the books I was currently reading as well as card details and history. Can’t get it to stay open long enough to try to rectify.

Great choices. I’m never without a book I have read so many more different stories, I really love having this convenient access to the lihrsfy

Crash All The Time. I would love to give this app a higher rating but it is just not right. I travel all the time and when I want to read on the way there(which is most of the time), I can’t bring all of the heavy books. Sometimes, I bring a whole bag of books and struggle to bring them in. I found this app from my library and downloaded it. It works well for the first week or so but after that, it will not open or load anything. I tried downloading books but it keeps crashing or saying that there is an error. This is really annoying and I hope that you will get rid of this problem.

Great App. This app is amazing. You just need to update it more often to get it to stop crashing. It has amazing books and is easy to read. Overall this app is amazing and I use it all the time. I would rate it higher if it had a higher range of books, because if there is a book I want to read, it might not always be on the app which is irritating. But this app is lovely overall.

Books. Cloud library is so good because you don’t have to go to the library and you can just read books that aren’t in your bookshelf on your own device and return them when you’ve finished reading them!

Unsure. I don't like the search function very limited and hard to find books I want. Books available is also limited, being online library should be able to find any book. App keeps closing when trying to click on book to read. Couldn't even read book last night could not get in at all.

Too much loading😑. It is a game where there aren’t all books that you search for in this game and it takes a lot of time to load😫

Excellent. How wonderful it is to access the public library’s ebooks from the comfort of one’s home. This app has never crashed or done anything amiss. It has the features you need for reading, different size fonts, sepia and black background options and a ‘look up’ option for dictionary and Wikipedia definitions. All in all a very good app.

Sleep timer. Should make a sleep timer that ends at the end of the track other then that very good and wide range of books to choose from

Great, but…. Great app. Just one annoying bug to report (on iOS). Since updating to the latest version of the Cloud Library app some months ago, if I close the app and reopen it a while later, it bounces me back to the start of the chapter I was reading, so I might have to swipe through 30 pages trying to find where I was up to. Not the end of the world but frustrating enough to report.

Great app, big problem.. I’ve rated this app as 4 stars. It is a great app, especially as I’m linked to he Melbourne City library with a huge range of books available. Most of the app is great. However I give it only 2-3 each time I return to my book. It usually logs me into a blank page and I cannot see where I am up to with out closing the book and reopening it. Frustrating. I also have an issue with page turns at times. It too easily skips much of a chapter and starts a new one. I’ve had the frustration of seeming plot errors, only to find I’ve missed many pages in a chapter. My other issue is that I cannot find a way to contact the company responsible, either in the app or online. So the above is my feedback - I’d prefer to give it privately. Looking forward to updating my revie to a solid 5 stars when these issues are fixed.

Cloud library. The app is great and I love how it has an option of different books topics and genres but The downside is when it automatically goes the wrong pager

Useable but not quite there. I downloaded this app recently and while it is useable for reading library books, the performance isn't great for a relatively modern application. When opening the app, it takes some time for the books to become 'active'. Following that it also takes a while to load a book after tapping it. I've learned to be patient while this happens, but there should at least be some feedback to help users visualise the loading time. Also, I wish the app icon was redesigned to something more classy and the button interface within the app designed with vector graphics rather than raster graphics.

Please allow screen saver/sleep function read mode. This app has to be the most dysfunctional library app as reflected in the reviews. The worst decision my library has ever made. Slow and buggy. Books need to be repeatedly downloaded but you already know this. Two versions ago something was changed so that the app NEVER goes to sleep. I read in bed as many others do. It was great when it went to sleep as set on my iPad screen saver mode so when I fall asleep so does the iPad/book saving battery life. Can you PLEASE PLEASE bring this back or add this as an option in the settings? Slow readers can just extend the sleep timer. This function appears to be in the audiobook but not ebook function. I am constantly falling asleep and finding the screen on the next morning with battery almost drained. This is bad for the life of the battery and device.

Amazing and reliable. Legit one of the best apps for audio books ever! You can get almost every book from all authors and they also have such a wide variety of books and specific genres too. There are times we’re very single book is on hold for some reason but it goes away in a few days. 10/10 app would highly recommend been a favourite for years!

Good but needs to hold page and zoom feature. I would give this app five stars if it didn’t keep losing my page and if I could zoom in to look at things like maps and images more clearly

Cloud library review. Cloud library is a great resource but unfortunately too many ebook searches for titles and authors result in the response that the item being not listed. In addition, books that are in the collection, are often not available for a long time in the future.

It keeps crashing. I do really like this app and would love to give it a higher rating but the app continuously crashes as soon as I open it up. It worked for maybe the first month that I had it but ever since then I haven’t even been able to spend two seconds in app without it crashing! Very disappointing because I’d love to read your books but I can’t.

Love it. It’s really good app and easy to use. The only problem that I can think of is that I can’t find how turn on the clock display while reading the book if that’s the option. The page number and how much left in the book is very useful, but it would be better with the clock display as well.

Great!. Easy to link to my Library Card, heaps of great books, able to change text size easily, page saves automatically!

Frustrated.. Joined months ago, generally happy. But lately, I get to the end of a chapter and ,like the afterlife, “it all goes black”- won’t move to the next chapter/ page. If I wait a few days, it will produce the next chapter, but then the same thing happens…..would be great if there was a “help” page. Frustrating.

App not user friendly. Unable to search or go back after book has been downloaded on my iPad. There are no menu options. Inability to change font size etc. not receiving notifications when book requests are available. It’s not as good as other platforms.

Best library ereader, but .... V4.5.18 (August 2019?] seems to be vastly improved. I've just realised it's been a while since I hated it, so I've increased my rating from 3 to 4 stars. It's now my favourite ereader, but it's still clunky at times. I had many gripes when I first started using this app, but only minor ones now. There is NO DIRECT SUPPORT option within this app. Help requests are directed to your local library, which is near pointless if you want to report a bug. This might be why it's so buggy. If you want to report bugs, try the contact page of the bibliotheca website. Page syncing across devices is still hit and miss. It's fairly reliable if you close the book on one device and then wait a few seconds before closing the app before opening it on another device. It's worth leaving a bookmark before closing it too. It's the only library ebook app I know of that directly supports copying of text, and you can also highlight text and add notes. Tapping and holding to select text, oddly, often doesn’t work on particular words, especially italic text, and often parts of some words are unselectable. The workaround is to select another word, then drag the selection limits, using the odd but precise crosshairs thing that pops up if you start dragging quickly enough

CloudLibrary. Fantastic range of audiobooks. Would be better if a sleep timer feature was included in the app for audiobooks.

Basic app. Has great potential. I listen to audiobooks, this is one my most used app on my iPhone. This app has some of the most basic features you would expect from a book reader app. However, for a modern day digital library app, it lacks that user experience that one would expect to see on apps these days, feels quite dated, feels like it was designed and built from pre-app era. One of the features I would like to suggest is to list the titles of the chapters on the audiobooks.

Security problem. This app circumvents the screen auto lock after 30 seconds, and stops the iPhone 12 which I have from turning off. It never turns off if a book is being read. My phone is updated on iOS, and restarting the phone does not fix this.

How to return titles early. This app works quite well for me. One annoying thing is that I cannot see a way to return a title early if I have finished it. Otherwise I would have given this app 5 stars

Convenient. Convenient to read from your phone

Would be 5 star if it didn’t crash constantly. This app has been so helpful for someone who has trouble remembering to take library books back 🤦🏼‍♀️ but annoying that it takes 4-5 goes every time to open a book to read. Would have no issue rating it higher if it worked consistently ☺️

Gough and me. This book is well worth the read and although it is a biography, it also highlights the achievements of one of my favourite politicians of all time. The story of the authors life, interspersed with the achievements of Gough and Margaret Whitlam as well as the Labour Party in general is a reminder of the importance of leading your best life and working to achieve social justice through action.

Unreliable. I have deleted this app as it is unreliable, continually crashing. I have to delete and reinstate all my details - at least 5 times now. I am going to contact my library and ask them to change from this app.

Love it!. Love the fact that I don’t have to go to the library to borrow books! This is particularly good, since I have mobility issues. Spoilt for choice using this app - can read all the latest novels, and rarely have to wait! Well done, and thank you!

‏Login Failure HTTP response error. Hi, The app responding so I deleted the app and re-downloaded it no it wouldn’t let me login. It’s telling me ‏”Login Failure HTTP response error” Please tell me how to fix this problem?

Works well but is basic. This app works decently well for what it is. I only use it for audiobooks. It plays the books, lets me move between chapters, add bookmarks, etc. Searching for books it not as easy as it should be. Books are not categorized well and following series can be difficult. If they improved the search function and library catalog system it would be perfect.

Won’t open where I finish. I’ve been hoping for a fix for a few months. The book opens where I opened the previous time or even 4 times ago, not the last time. On both iPad mini and iPhone. It’s frustrating to have to go through the pages to find where you left off. Please fix.

Brilliant Product. Easy to obtain app Easy to log into public library for ebooks Well sync with library’s online network Ebook on rental are free of charge No brained Use CloudLibrary

Rodents. This app is great great Great, great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great. Great great app.

Review. This is the worst reading app I have ever used. For example, when opened goes back to beginning of chapter instead of last page read. Also, turns many pages at a time instead og one. Print size doesn’t stay constant in the same book. Was told it was my device so got a new iPad. Same problems. No help techs said it was Apple and Apple says it is the app. Wish our library would go back to the old app

Book. Not all the books I am looking for is on the site

THE worst app I’ve ever used. I hesitate to leave a scathing review...and yet I WILL. this app is the only way I can access my library’s digital content AND it CONSTANTLY crashes (to the point where I just give up most of the time on listening to books). It’s fine for e-books, but for as long as I’ve been trying to use the app to listen to audiobooks, it has been a nightmare. I pay for audible and their app has never given me problems—it’s simple and straightforward and works perfectly. I wish I had that experience with CloudLibrary. For a month or so there was an update that worked ok (not good, but okay), but then the app was updated and now it’s back to crash city. I want to offer constructive criticism for the developers but honestly there’s nothing I’ve enjoyed about the app.

I’m having an issue yet can’t find an email or contact. I’m getting an error message that’s not listed in their ‘ How To Guides’ yet you can go around in circles in Support trying to find a resolution. I re-checked card number. Logout and tried Login. Uninstalled then re-installed yet same error message. It’s a card authentication issue. Don’t halve 3 hours to go around in circles. Card is valid and was renewed last few months Soooooo what’s the problem? Why can’t I find a solution? If it’s a 24hr glitch a message in App Store??? So I’m rating it 1* for lack of transparency on problem resolutions. I’m also not crazy on book searches how searches don’t just appear in book # order.

Don’t bother if you use audiobooks!. Warning to any audiobook lovers- This app doesn’t use standard Bluetooth controls, thus rendering the player a frustrating nightmare. If you press back because you miss heard something it will take you to the beginning of the chapter. Same story for forward. this has been like this for years, the app devs just don’t care. This is the only audiobook player that works like this.

Missing basic features. Only using this app because it’s what my public library uses and I don’t have a choice. The fact that I can’t filter search results by reading level or fiction/nonfiction is absurd. I shouldn’t have to slog through picture books and leveled readers to find adult books about the same subject.

Too bright for night - No more brightness control in app. Reader used to have an in app brightness control in addition to iPhone general brightness. This was great for dimming the text while reading before sleep. Now that feature has been removed and text is too bright for nighttime reading before sleep.

It’s good 👍. Good site to find books and stuff

Cloud Library. Terrible! The automatic snooze does not work, therefore the light stays on and runs out the battery, the pages are not recognized properly, and constantly flipping pages when not asked to, can’t find any settings to fix problems, no contact support for this software (no phone number and their email does not work !!!). Our library does not have any support contact information either, Apple support couldn’t help - said my settings were all good, it’s just bad software, Libby and the previous software worked fine; our libraries should not be wasting tax payers money on this poor and in adequate app; we would appreciate hearing others feedback

Broken garbage. Apparently it’s totally down right now....

Not positive. I only use this app as an absolute last resort. The pages jump ahead for no reason. I dread having to use this app it’s so unfriendly. Check out Libby by far a superior pleasant experience.

Impossible to renew a book you haven’t finished. After your rental period expires the book disappears and you can’t renew it if you weren’t finished reading. There must be a glitch.

River. I think this app is great. It lets me read all the books I want from home. It is so simple and easy.

Too slow. Sooo slow

Could not find a version available for windows. I was told there was a version for windows, but spent maybe an hour looking and eventually gave up, frustratedly. It’s very inconvenient not being able to access on my computer.

A little laborious to change font and page setup. After using Libby, it seems like this app needs some simplification, AND there is an annoying thing you have to do. I changed the font size once and then every so often it goes back to the original and I have to do it all over again

Worst app ever. Why my library switched from Overdrive/Libby I’ve no idea… Continually says to contact library… have to continually sign in but half the time won’t let me… and when it does work is just a generally terrible app… update….. terrible app… I’ll have a hold on audiobooks… says available in one month… then two months.. then three months… then says available soon… then all the holds disappear.. this happens over and over… curse on Peterborough library for switching to this garbage app….

awful. the application does not have many options on designing the page on how you want to read - compared to LIBBY —-it is a bad application.

Good, but not too good. Doesn’t have the books I want

Screen stays acty. Overall the app is good, fast and easy to use. The one thing I don’t like is that the screen stays active and lit, using battery when I put it down and forget to close it. I wish it went into “hibernation” mode like other apps do. I haven’t been able to figure out how to make it do that.

Look up. What happened to the look up feature within the app?

Great e-Books. I love the jam sandwiches book and it’s like the best I couldn’t find the pdf anywhere and look there here it is now!

When it works it’s good. It’s usually ok but lately the app doesn’t hold my page when returning to the book and today it started jumping back pages on its own? Ivan never get through a complete book without a few incidents where as my library app Libby seems quite stable now.

Newcastle library not listed. Can you get my local library added to the app?

Love this. User friendly and fabulous

Pretty great. Great app but with some books it takes a few times to open to read.

Review of electronic books. Having electronic books are great! Would like to know how to make larger print if it’s possible. Yes please

Losing place when shutting down app.. Why does my book return to the beginning of the chapter, no matter how close I am to the end of the chapter whenever I shut down my Ipad Air 4. (It also happens with my two older Ipads) Never had this problem in Overdrive library app. None of the issues regarding the book jumping to random pages for NO reason has been settled, I have spoken to all my friends that use the app and they ALL are experiencing the exact same issues, ignoring the problems do NOT fix them. I certainly do not want to involve the powers that be at the Windsor public library, but continued ignoring of our complaints may force the issue. Our tax dollars are being wasted!

Works great!. I really like this app and I use it almost everyday.

Disappointing.. I’m disappointed in the Cloud Library app. I enjoy reading books on my iPhone but with this app chapters get skipped, 20-50 pages are missed at a time. Sometimes the book will skip from the first page of one chapter to the first page of the next chapter. I have to keep using book marks which slow the skipping down but it is very distracting.

Needs a timer that is end of chapter/segment. Instead of only timed segments for turning off the audiobooks it would be great to have end of chapter/section.

Kindle?. I love Cloud but would be in heaven if we could download to the kindle ereader!!!!

A Book For Every Interest. Whatever you would like to do, learn a new skill, explore a foreign land, solve a mystery, laugh until you cry, Cloud Library has a book for you. A great resource right at your fingertips anytime you like.

App not loading. Is anyone working on this app? It's not working anymore. It doesn't load on my iPhone or iPad.

Holds don’t work. I put a hold on an audio book and the day the hold was supposed to be up, it went back up to 28 days! What gives????

Scroll option please!!!!. I haven’t really had any problems with this app (I don’t listen to audiobooks so I don’t have troubles with them) and all the books I’ve borrowed work fine. The only issue I have is that I hate the page flip way of reading; I much prefer scrolling down, like on Wattpad. A scrolling option would add more variety and for me, I read more smoothly with scrolling and auto-scroll options.

Libby is a lot better. My library switched to this and its been horrible. It constantly crashes or gives a message saying “There’s something wrong with your library card”. I’ve had to delete and reinstall this app several times already to fix the problem. Very disappointed

Great app. I love this app

Great app. Great app just wish it had légendaires

Best way to listen to books!. Love that there are so many titles for the recorded books. Just need a few new releases quicker.

It’s easy!. Using CL provides the medium for fast access to most book titles I have ever looked up. I also appreciate the audiobooks and often will read and listen to the same book as opportunity allows. I found cl particularly helpful while traveleling.

AWESOME. I’m amazed how it's so realistic

Don’t use this app. My library changed to this app and I hate it. It keeps cutting out mid book on me and I can’t figure out why. It isn’t worth the stress of trying to restart a book so many times. I wish the library would change their provider

Good but laggy. Can be laggy at times and would kick me out. Overall, it’s the best reading app I’ve had

Used to be great, now unusable. I have no idea why the app is so SLOW, why it freezes when loading any other than the page you ended on, why the highlighted text takes forever to come in and why until it does the text remains unloaded. Why it’s slower when connected to the internet and why it still struggles to load when offline and gives offline errors. The text files are mere megabytes. This is on both my phone and ipad. They are both older yes but it’s an e-reader.

Love, but HELP. I LOVED this app...that is until it recently did an update. The book I was listening to started to just stop in the middle of reading. It kept giving me a pop up opting me to start where I left off, which was where I was when I had opened the app for the day, and after I read Hmong YOUR faq of how to resolve this I deleted the app and reinstalled. Only to have the two books I was listening to stay in “mitigating” so when I click on them to listen it says still downloading, taking longer than it should but you can start at the beginning. What?!! I thought I might wait a bit longer and try getting another book but no other book would load their description. What can I do?

Overall really nice but could be improved a bit. Overall the app is awesome. The E-Book interface is great but audiobooks could be improved a bit. The image for almost every audiobook I’ve used is always extremely pixelated which isn’t a big deal but would be nice if they were able to get them back to full resolution pictures of the titles. Also I find that the track labels for each chapter are so hit or miss, usually a miss since they’re inaccurate or just simply labeled “Track 1, Track 2” etc. It would be cool to allow for community recommendations for the track names so that was listeners can update them to match the book for the next person.

AMAZING. Cloud Library is an amazing and helpful app it has many special features too! For example, Cloud library has a bookmark feature where you can bookmark and save your page(s). Another example is the highlighter you can highlight important or cool info using this feature. Your highlights are saved as soon as you make them. A very helpful characteristic is when you hold down a word you can define or look it up in my opinion this is really helpful. In summary, Cloud Libray is a helpful and good app you can use to read it has many special features like the bookmark and more! I would definitely recommend. (TY FOR READING MY ESSAY LOL)

Very small selection. For a digital catalogue of audiobooks there is an incredibly small selection and almost all of them are newly published. There is almost no chance of finding a specific book you’re looking for unless it just came out and is a bestseller. The interface is bare-bones and beyond terrible, with no real way to tell the app what genres you are interested in, and when you do try to narrow down the genres you’re interested in all you will get is a handful of books within those genres. Do you like noir fiction? Well, two or three noir books to choose from. There seems to be no other way to search other than by genre or by just typing in an author or book title. The only redeeming quality of the app is that once you do find a book you’re interested in it’s very easy to download and start listening.

Couldn’t be easier. I have found a joy of reading again as I can keep working around the house or running errands and still enjoy a good book! I have loved the selection and the simplicity of downloading and playing my books. There has been a few issues from time to time where it acts a bit glitchy, like saying the book isn’t available but if I shut it down and restart the app it usually will work. The one thing I can’t figure out is why there is a time limit on the books as it is a digital book and not a actual physical book. It is kept on a server not on a self so am not sure why there is a limit on the time. I have been happy with the service and would recommend it to others.

Great app…one annoying thing. This app is wonderful. Very easy to use and good selection. My one issue is the unfortunate fact that If I am listening to a book with my ear buds/Bluetooth in car I can’t just rewind it 15 sec by tapping ear bud or car buttons. If I attempt to rewind this way it rewinds all the way to the beginning of the chapter. In the app itself there is a 15 second rewind option which is great, but if I am out walking my dog or doing chores or driving I can’t just rewind a short amount unless I open my phone and the app and hit the 15 sec rewind on the app. This is annoying when I am doing the activities mentions above and could be dangerous if I am driving as it promotes distracted driving. Hopefully this is a bug that can be fixed.

Not good!. The Overdrive app works pretty well, but our library said it’s phasing that out and only supporting Cloud Library starting next month. On my first book with this app I marked my pg before stopping, then when I went back to read that book, it was stuck at the beginning. I kept getting an error, “no internet connection”. (Tested my WiFi connection with other apps on my iPad and they all worked fine.) Very frustrating! I closed the app, restarted and the same thing... several times. After about 30 mins, I finally got back to the pg I was on, and then I finished reading the whole book until 2 AM because I was afraid to close it again. Please fix this app.

Irritating. It’s better than nothing I guess since I don’t have another option, but since my library switched I can hardly get any of the books I want, especially audiobooks. Every time I request through my library I get rejected; and as far as I know the app doesn’t offer the option to request stuff directly to them. Which overdrive/Libby did do. I think there’s so much improvement needed and they should take a lesson from their competitors. This App was supposed to make things easier not irritate everyone. I wish our suggestions were actually taken and not overlooked just because we aren’t developers. And don’t even get me started on the computer app version, I’d be better off just uninstalling it, since I can’t even listen offline, or download anything on there. Speaking of downloading overdrive took like a couple minutes, this app would probably take an hour or more, and I know 100% it’s not my WiFi that’s the problem.

If you have no other options, this is fine.. Dear developers, Here is my list of wants for this app: 1. Faster loading time. There are so many titles, I understand that it’ll take time to load all of them. But just a hair faster would do my bedtime reading habit a world of good. 2. More specific categories or tags. I get that Amish romance is a thing, but I’d like to filter them out because it’s not MY thing. I have very general trashy romance novel tastes but I know what I don’t like. 3. More accurate start/stop times for audiobooks. It keeps taking me back to the wrong spot and I’ve listened to the same chapter 4 times. That’s on me, I’m not paying attention. But give a space cadet a break, please, for the love of god, just let me listen to my boring biography and not have to hear about how Lizzie Borden hated her step mother four times in a row. I love my local library so I continue to use this app in support of them. That and the fact that there are literally so many trashy romance novels (even if half of them are Amish, which is great if that’s your thing). But I think the app itself needs a bit of work before its truly great.

Utter garbage. Unfortunately our local library made the switch from OverDrive (fantastic app that is easy to use and rarely has issues) and I’m stuck using CloudLibrary. Beyond the poor audiobook navigation, this app constantly has problems. If it’s not buffering when the audiobook is supposed to be downloaded to my phone, it crashes simply using it. The latest issue is the skip forward or backward buttons. Who knows by how many seconds - it’s not labeled. Tap it, crash. The button, which I assume is skip chapter (not labeled and appears to skip a random amount), tap this, crash. Heck, it even crashes simply listening to a book. Want to be frustrated? Try browsing for a book. You’re better off knowing exactly what you want. Browsing is such a clunky experience. CloudLibrary has several audiobook players to use as an example. Of course I’m not saying to copy or plagiarize, but holy jeez, let go of your pride and make a functional and pleasing app to use!!

4.7 stars…NO WAY. Compared to using Overdrive, kindle and Apple Books this app is the worst! I’ve tried getting info how to read in whole screen and can’t find info. I want to browse and topics too broad or not what I’m looking for. Browsing, I still have children’s books on screen I have to scroll past every time when all I want are books in certain genres for adults. Borrowing books is limited and often there are more audio books than to read. I don’t listen to audio books. There doesn’t seem to be large print which they used to offer. I know you can increase print size but it doesn’t show as much print as lg print books used to. The reading options are limited compared to the other apps. Granted, this is the app I have to use to read my library loans so I shouldn’t complain, but I wish they still used Libby. Please make it better!

Can’t Login. Idk why but this has been going on for a while. My library uses a 4 number pin to login before being able to checkout the books. I gave up on this app a few months when it wouldn’t let me login in using this pin (which i’ve used since i was a kid). I figured i had forgotten it so i went to my library’s website to see if i could fix it, and the same pin worked perfectly fine. I even was able to change my pin and use this new one to try to get in on this app, but i keep getting the same message of ‘error authenticating account’. There’s also no way of getting in contact with anyone from the app to try to fix this problem from their website or anything. I’m so upset and it’s literally just the apps fault. Idk what else to do since i’ve even tried adding the spaces to my account number when logging in. it’s hopeless at this point since this is how it’s been since like april

Worse over time. I have been using cloudLibrary regularly for a long time. It’s never been perfect, but instead of getting better, it’s getting worse. There’s a long-standing bug that if you leave off reading and come back later, you will not be returned to the page where you left off. It usually returns you to the beginning of the chapter. You have to remember to bookmark every time you leave the app to do something else; not a big deal, but an annoyance. Lately, something new has been added to the problem, though. Occasionally, I return to my book to find all the bookmarks gone! (Or, occasionally, previously deleted bookmarks restored.) If I can’t rely on bookmarks, then the app goes from annoying to an actual hindrance. I also am unhappy that the dictionary functionality has been removed, to be replaced by “Search Web” as the only option. This exits the app, launches your default browser, and searches for the word in your default search engine. Sometimes that brings up a definition, sometimes not. It’s an unwieldy workaround for the eliminated dictionary. I’m not sure why the ability to remember the page where you leave off is so problematic in this app, but I and others reported it starting years ago, and it never gets fixed.

Not good for audiobooks. While the ability to read text formats of books is okay, the audiobook feature is so poorly designed that I will not be using it again until it undergoes a serious renovation. Right now, it’s like something you’d find on an iPhone 1 (yes, that’s a 1, not an 11). If I loose my place and want to skip back, I have to use the small bar at the bottom of the screen that freezes and skips way ahead. I have to close and restart the app constantly to unfreeze it. If I try to move it just a few minutes back, it skips to an hour back and it takes forever to find my spot. The app also crashes repeatedly when I’m trying to find my spot in an audiobook. The text format doesn’t have this crash problem. I do wish there was the option to use Kindle to read the books as it is with other library apps like Libby. Please hire new app designers, Cloud Library.

Footnotes as end notes?. This is a charming Discworld novel featuring Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax, and a deep dive into opera. Every bit as silly and clever as you can expect. The only slight glitch in this eBook is the footnotes, which appear as end notes… one per page, at the end of the book. This is a slight disappointment, since they’re always clever and worth reading — Pratchett uses footnotes to shoehorn in jokes that would otherwise disrupt the narrative —- but in this edition they’re floating untethered in the final pages. Minor quibble, but as far as I could tell there was not way to jump to them in the text, and then jump back to where you were reading.

Love using this app for audiobooks!. I’m a huge fan of listening to audiobooks in the car & while I’m doing dishes in the mornings, but an Audible subscription can get expensive. This app lets you check out the books, listen to them for a pretty good amount of time (a month or three weeks at least), then return them when you’re done. I connect my phone to my car’s Apple Play system, and the Cloud Library shows up. The app always works, the library has great book varieties (for audio and regular ebooks), and I love how it gives the trending books section for when I want to read, but just don’t know.

Please fix! Great but could be better. I love this app but there a few things that make me crazy. After you read a book and return it to Library, it does not delete from your hold list. Please make an option to delete. When scrolling your hold list for your next book, anytime you look at a selection, then choose to move on, it jumps back instead of continuing from where you were in the list. IT IS Very frustrating!I have a large number of books on my list I want to read, but I am not in the mood for all of them at the exact time I look at them. I also find it frustrating to find a book. I have already read and returned still taking space in my hold list. I don’t read books more than once, and I like to keep my list clean. But because they don’t remove/delete when you return them you are left with deciding to leave it, knowing it is cluttering up your hold list, or doom yourself to restart the list from the beginning again, and again, and again. Please make an option to delete or return books. And please, make scrolling stop jumping back to the beginning!

Needs refinement. I was forced to use CloudLibrary because my library abandoned Overdrive. Therefore Overdrive is my base of comparison. I severely miss the use of my PaperWhite and I do not know if the fault is with Google or CloudLibrary. I did email Google at the link provided by CloudLibrary. When reading the app does not remember the last paper read so if I don’t bookmark the page when I return to the book I have to hunt for my place. On occasion the app will make the text tiny and the app needs to be restarted. When searching for books with Overdrive I always used sort by Popularity. It’s a great tools to get ideas based on community. CloudLibrary lacks this feature. Also the books descriptions tend to be brief and rather useless.

UPDATED review: Get it together, CL. In spite of several re-installs, upgrades, and updates, CloudLibrary continues a slide into poor performance. Filters don’t filter accurately, and adjustments to the filters cause such confusion I have to close and restart the app. Materials that have already been downloaded somehow need lengthy cloud updates before I can listen to them. Trying to return items is an exercise in futility. I understand that usage is high right now, but this current app makes accessing materials an exercise in frustration. Original review: Like many others, my library has recently started using CloudLibrary. And like others, I understand that this is because publishers do NOT have special library pricing and this is the best way libraries can offer a range of selection to meet the needs of the most readers, within a tight budget. The phone app is fantastic for listening to a range of audiobooks on my commute. I do find that there is a lag with the tablet app, where it shows books I have returned via my phone as still available, or where books I have on hold do not show as available on the tablet when I see them as downloadable on my phone. Very useful app in general, and I look forward to having developers continue to improve it to match the demand of so many libraries and patrons now using it.

Too many crashes on new version. The app crashes and consistently loses the spot I was at when listening to an audiobook. I normally l love this app but it’s an utter pain trying to find where I was at and having to relisten to minutes and minutes of audiobook just to get back to my spot. This app needs to fix bugs badly right now. Update 9/26- now it’s just stopping audiobook playback randomly. I have a brand new phone. This needs to get fixed because I can’t get it to replay in my car without pulling up my phone which is illegal in my state while driving. When I put an audiobook on when I’m on the road, I expect it to keep playing instead of quitting out and resetting back a minute or more once I get it back working. I love this app most of the time and the fact I can read with it, but the app has gone so downhill it’s almost unusable now

Pretty good. I have been using this app for almost two years, and it has proven to be good. The books I want are usually there, and I can pick which library to go to. The app does not usually glitch. Some of the cons are when I leave it for a certain amount of time, it shuts down. I feel it should stay in the paragraph I left on. I do like the options for accessibility. It also takes a long amount of time to load on most books, and even after I wait for that amount of time, the book just looks like a blank page with a loading sign. Overall, this app is pretty good and would recommend, but get ready for some loading and glitching.

Did the update do this?. No. But every few minutes it stops and a message comes up saying “ we have saved your last position. Do you want to start there?” You press yes or no. Since I listen in my car, having to look down every few minutes and respond is annoying and dangerous. I live being able to listen to a book in the car. It makes long trips shorter. I have been very happy with Cloud Library. Today you did an up date and now my Cloud Library won’t open. I’m in the middle of a couple of books so I don’t want to delete and re- download the app if I don’t have too. I use Cloud library everyday and feel list without it.

Excellent!. I’m really enjoying reading books for free. All you need to access the library is a pubic library card. It’s so worth it!! Free books and audiobooks. I was paying $18 a month for years with Audible. So glad I started going to my local library again and found this app. It works well and has features like text zoom and bookmarks. The pictures are vibrant and not distorted from being digitized. It’s amazing and I don’t need a physical bookmark to save my page anymore. I don’t ever write app reviews. That’s how much I love this app. Well done to whoever made this app possible!! I’m enjoying it everyday. Peace everyone!

Can’t see saved books or books on hold. I have a number of books on hold and I get email notifications that they’re ready for checkout but when I go to the holds page, it says I’m not connected to the internet even when I’m on wifi or have good coverage. Incredibly frustrating as I’ve been waiting weeks or months to check some of these books out. It’s also deleted all of my saved books now, I used to have about ten books saved and now it just says that I don’t have anything saved. It’s also impossible to submit a complaint on the app as every time I do it says I’m not connected to the internet and it won’t go through. I’ve used and liked this app for years, but honestly the past few months have just been a disaster. My library thankfully also has overdrive as an option, so it looks like I will be switching to that.

Issues!. I wish there was a way to delete the (audio)book then download it again without returning the book to the library. I seem to recall one of the apps in the past having that option, even an option to download individually chapters. I’ve had glitches with the past two books in the past two days not playing huge chunks of the book at all. No way around it. I had to download it to my son’s phone to finish the 15th hour of a 16 hour new book. Very frustrating! It would take 3 months to get it back on the waitlist. Now, 5 minutes into another new release, “playback error”. I’ve asked for help in the past but had no response so I won’t bother. I spend hours on this app while working around the house when it’s working. I’ll hope for another update before this book expires.

Awesome idea, frustrating bugs. I love the convenience of library ebooks and depth of the catalog, but there are a number of extremely frustrating bugs that have never been fixed despite the myriad of updates since I’ve downloaded cloud library, with no method of reporting them. Some are: books disappearing from the catalog when they are checked out by others, thus with no way to place a hold; opening a book at the first bookmark, instead of the most recent or even where you left off reading; and most infuriatingly, returning a book when you click the “renew” button. That was the last straw. Now due to the first bug mentioned, I can’t even place it on hold, and I had several days left before it would automatically return, and so I can’t complete that story. Libby doesn’t treat me like this.

Why did the App change?. Now when you leave reading it NEVER returns to the page you left off. After you found your last page and sometime after you start reading, it asks if you want to return to the page you ended the previous session. If you say yes, it takes you to the beginning of the chapter. When you open a new reading often the print has changed and you need to close your book and reopen. None of these problems happened before. Good things: 6 holds is an improvement. Why is there a limit on holds? How about no more than 6-8 holds in the next 2 months? A popular book where you have a 6 month hold should not limit you.

Please fix the GLITCH!!!!!!. I hope someone reads this review and takes action!!! I used to love using this app but lately, it keeps giving me errors!!! It says my library card is invalid. I have to delete the app, reinstall it and sign up to use it!!! This is so frustrating. I haven’t read many books this year so far. I have been to my local library several times and they cannot do anything about it. And when I reinstall, the app skips pages, freezes, and even jumps back to the beginning of the book. So frustrating!!!!!!!!! I am so disappointed and just may go back to reading books on Kindle!!!

What to Heck Happened. I have used this app through my library for over a year. There were a few glitches, but since the world went crazy it has been terrible. Saying no connection when there is , it won’t download a book when it is available, & constantly stops working!! Just recently there was an update to fix bugs & such. I thought great, fix this. It is MUCH MUCH WORSE!!! I’m lucky now if a book downloads and it’s so slow. I could maybe deal with the slowness if it weren’t for it rarely working!!!! Please fix this back to where it was 8 months ago!!!!!!! I pray my library stops the contract since it’s not living up to their end.

Mostly good!. I like to listen to audiobooks on my iPhone. When our library switched from Overdrive, it took a little getting used to, but all is (mostly) good now. My biggest problem is downloading. Sometimes it will download quickly, but most times it starts to download, then pause. I have to keep tapping it to resume downloading. Sometimes I’ll think it’s downloaded, and will go for a walk listening, but as soon as I’m out of range of WiFi, I get the message, “ Streaming not allowed”. Right now I’ve been trying to download a book for 20 minutes. It just keeps pausing. Very annoying. However, I love the convenience of being able to check out books to read or listen to without the hassle of going to the library.

Doesn’t work properly. This app is so frustratingly glitchy and buggy, all the time!! But today, it’s a whole new level of disfunction. My checked out books disappeared, leaving me with an error message. The message states there is a problem with my card, contact my library. I have two different libraries set-up on this app, and I am receiving the error message for both. There is Nothing wrong with my cards. Please fix this! Also, I tried uninstalling, and reinstalling the app. Now it keeps giving me an error message to try again later, for both libraries. So frustrating! I just want to finish the books that I’ve started, which are due in a few days. 😤 With all the craziness in the world, being able to read a good book would be really smoothing, and helpful right now. But I can’t because your app is garbage. Very disappointed.

So many bugs.... The app takes 20-30 seconds to start. Opening a book can take over a minute. The page count doesn’t make sense (I can be on page 145 and swipe through 4+ virtual pages). Swiping pages to turn the page can take a second or more to update, so there are times that I’m not sure the app got my swipe and then try to swipe again and then I’m too far and have to swipe back. Small caps text is rendered in a too small font. If I zoom into a page and go past some max zoom level instead of stopping at that zoom level the display goes blank. It’s incredibly difficult to properly tap a footnote, usually that ends up triggering a page turn. And I haven’t been able to find a proper back button for footnotes, which means that I have to use the slider to go back to the inaccurate page number and then swipe back and forth until I’m back where I started (see prior issues with page numbering and page turning.)

Lies. Don’t even try to search for a book. I won’t find it. I’m here, staring stupidly with my mouth agape, as this app tries to tell me the Harry Potter series does not exist. Advanced search doesn’t help either; I enter in publication dates and everything, but with no results. The same proved for The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, The Lord Of The Rings, The ScrewTape Letters- Everything. If there were no books at all, I would be more understanding, but no. There are plenty of options, but they are random and recommended for boomers such as the creators of this app. To find a book, I must scroll through every book in existence to find what I want, because searching is useless, and I don’t want to drive to the library. On a lucky day, when they actually allow u to find a book, u may be told it is being held by someone else. Wtbh. Guess what grandpa, this is 2023, and you’re connected to WIFI; there can be infinite of the book. Just don’t download or support this app. Plz.

Great except when it crashes. I love the convenience of this app for listening to audiobooks. I appreciate the hold feature, the ability to flag books and suggest titles. What I dislike is that the app frequently won’t allow me to scroll through my list of flagged books, forcing me to either close the app or wait for it to crash on its own. This is extremely frustrating. I’d like to see enhancements to the flagged book list. For example, it would be wonderful to filter the list by what is currently available to borrow, as well as audio vs. ebooks. While these filter options are wonderful when browsing the entire library for books, it would be helpful to be able to filter searches within my own flagged book list. I realize this is likely asking too much at the moment considering how simply viewing my list seems impossible lately.

Generally great but buggy lately. I have used the app for a few years and generally love it. It is a great way to access free ebooks and audiobooks. The book selection and wait times depend greatly on the libraries you link which is to be expected of any library. More libraries I have access to use Libby and I prefer it slightly to this app. Lately I’ve had an issue with the pause function on audiobooks. When I try to pause in app it doesn’t work half the time. When I try to pause on my headphones, Lock Screen or Apple CarPlay it will not pause. When this happens I have to close the app to stop play, then reopen to restart.

I can’t read graphic novels??. This is one of the better apps I’ve used to read regular books once they are downloaded, but I often have glitches that tell me I’m not connected to the internet even though I’m on WiFi or that I have no saved books even though I know I do. Lately I’ve been trying to read graphic novels but the formatting doesn’t let me see the full page on the mobile app- the pictures are way too big and I’m not able to zoom out (minimizing the font won’t make the picture smaller). And when I use the website on either my phone or computer, the graphic novels stay at 0% loaded and won’t get beyond that point, not letting me read any graphic novels that are supposedly available on cloud library. I’d appreciate if that issue was fixed or if someone could tell me how to resolve it on my end!

No longer opens on iPad Pro. Worked consistently well (occasional glitch that quickly quit being a glitch) until the last update. Now when I try to open the app, all I see is the app trying to open, the ‘C’ and the never-ending circle spinning, but never opening, the app. Have re-booted. Doesn’t open. How can I send you feedback? I loved this app until now. Now I’m depressed that I can’t open it. I forgot to write down the version number but it was updated a week ago and the version ended in ‘.18’.PLEASE get an update soon which would allow me to open the app!!! I want to be able to use this appagain, and soon. Then I would change my rating, which is technically a zero right now, and isn’t allowed on the rating scale. But if the app won’t open anymore...

Please Restore Previous Version!!. This is the 1st time I have reviewed an app. Like all the other recent reviewers, I have used and loved this app for years without complaint. Then it suddenly updated and it is now making me crazy with problems! “Migrating data” loops, asking if I want to save my place, not saving my place when I close it and then reopen, and several times now, when I turn the page, it randomly jumps way back a chapter or two. The text sizing is also annoying now, when I increase the text size to avoid wearing glasses, the chapter title font becomes huge and takes up a whole page with some overlapping text. This is all within the same book I was reading before the update. And finally, what happened to the bar at the bottom that told me what chapter/page I am on and had a scroll bar so I could easily scroll through the book? PLEASE restore the previous version!!

Buggy and feature poor. My library system had been using Kindle as an option for consuming loaned volumes. Compared to the Kindle app for iPad iCloud is thin gruel. The dictionary and search features are lobotomized. For example, only single words can be highlighted, and that w difficulty. If one wishes to search a phrase, one must copy the phrase into a browser and search from there. Following footnotes is MUCH more difficult; attempting to tap an icon typically results in the screen from which a book may be closed. Having finally reached the footnote, attempting to return to the page from which the footnote branches typically takes several attempts. All this is very frustrating and has me wishing my library had never made the change. PLEASE fix this buggy, frustrating app. Updated review: Almost one year later, CloudLibrary remains a bug-infested piece of junk. If you are a librarian or other professional, DO NOT go this route. You and your clients will regret it, if you do.

Lame. On the up side, I am grateful that my local library supports access to ebooks. I’m updating my review of this app. But the review is not any *better*. I’ve deleted my comment about server crashes, but everything else is about the same. And I will add a new and very annoying issue: the tendency of the app to display the same page when I “swipe” to the next page. It usually realigns the text in some way, giving the appearance of turning to a new page, then I realize, no, I already read this paragraph!! Of all the ereader apps out there, this one is about as lame as they come. Then, the selection of books that are available seems severely limited. More often than not I search for a title that is available elsewhere on the web, and it is not found. Is this the fault of the app? Or my library? I don't know. The interface is pretty awkward, but most annoying of all is the need to login and re-download books all the time. Part of the idea of having an ebook on my iPad is to NOT have to be constantly connected to the Internet. But with this one, it seems I have to make that connection frequently. I see no rhyme nor reason for this. It also has a tendency to crash, although that may have improved some with recent updates—I'm not sure since I try to avoid using this app. Christopher Plummer

Jumps pages. The problem is when I turn a page, the app sometimes jumps 20 pages or more ahead. The bookmarks don’t hold your place. When I place a bookmark then go back to the book I’m not on the saved page. Sometimes when I try to go to the bookmark it doesn’t work and I have to manually look for the bookmark. When searching I use the table of contents to go to a specific chapter but it doesn’t I stays on the page I was on. I keep hoping these issues will be corrected when you update the app but so far they have been ignored. I miss the original app my library had before this one. It worked.

Not too Happy. My library just switched to this app and I’m not too happy with the change. I’m finding that there are often issues and glitches with it. One example is when you turn the page, the next page is a copy of the page you just flipped one. There also have been several instances of the next paging not picking up at the proper line of the story. It may repeat part of what I just read and the continuation is halfway down the page or else it completely skips a paragraph or two and makes no sense. If I flip back and forth this sometimes fixes itself but not always. This is tiresome and I wish I had the old app back.

Inconsistent. Choosing books is not difficult in the app. That is however, the only thing that works, at least on an Apple product. The app does not keep track of where you are in a book. If you put the ok down and want to come back to it, the app says that page 1 is where you left off. Since there is no way to skip ahead, you have to page through the book until you find your place. The app takes hours to load when it has to be updated. All in all, it is inferior to other library apps I have used. Unfortunately, my library has chosen to use this one, so I am stuck with it. I don’t know if there is any incentive, then, for the app to upgrade itself!

PLEASE HELP pagination-related problem - help request/bug report. I like to read on my phone, it is more comfortable to hold than the ipod. Hence, the content is paginated quite a bit into short pages. When I stop reading to use another app or put the phone down the app frequently loses my place in the text and reverts to either the first page in a chapter or a random page. This can also happen if I merely bobble the phone and touch or brush the screen the wrong way. And of course since the content is so highly paginated it can take quite a lot of swiping to get back to my place. This latest version, to which I just updated, seems to be worse in this respect than the previous one. I never had this problem with Libby, but sadly it no longer is connected with my local library. 🤬

Worst reader app. I'd give this no stars if I could. CloudLibrary went from one of the best to the worst with the series of "upgrades" this summer and fall. (2020). Maybe I should have anticipated that being the case, with the way things have gone this year... This app makes reading, one of my favorite things to do, extremely frustrating. Setting a bookmark takes two steps. The in-app page orientation lock is gone. There is no visual clue for your reading progress. Turning the page is a gamble - use the wrong gesture and you skip pages, even chapters, and the wrong gesture is whatever the app deems inappropriate at the time. Sometimes it’s a simple tap, sometimes it’s a swipe - you never know until you’re at a completely different part of the book. Then it’s so much fun finding where you really left off. If I could use a different app for this service I would. I hate being held hostage to bad software. The app wasn’t this bad when it launched.

Won’t accept my library card ID. I can’t even use this app because it doesn’t recognize my local library ID. So I use the website which recognizes my log-in ID but has issues—I have to ok user agreement every time I log in. It logs me out if I time-out for several minutes to use bathroom, answer the door, feed my dog, etc. I’ve tried to download books using the link provided, and it downloads the 2 pages of software speak, lots of symbols and no book. I often have to wait a significant amount of time for logging in or it just dumps me out and sends me back to log in. My library uses this for so many books now that I’m reading much less than I used to. I have not finished a single book using the cloud software. I’m thrilled when I can find my book available on hoopla or kindle or any other ebook app—or even find it available in a real hardcover book I can pick up at the library.

No longer works on older devices. I have been using CloudLibrary for about a year now, and have absolutely loved it. As I have an older iPad, few apps are able to be downloaded on its old iOS, and CloudLibrary was one of the few that I could actually use. I'm an avid reader, so reading ebooks was one of my favorite activities in my free time- that is, until CloudLibrary updated to be compatible with iOS 11.0 or higher. Now I cannot access my books or borrow the books I had on hold for months. I've tried to download other apps, but none of them work, and none seem to be quite the same as CloudLibrary. Before I lost access to the app, I have to note that it is a great library app for anyone that enjoys reading, despite the quirks in the interface. It's truly a shame that I can no longer use it. I hope the developers can find a way to make it usable for older devices again.

Easy to use but.... They recently did an update that removed the rotation lock feature. If the screen rotates, when I turn it back, it skips back several pages and I have to find my spot again. I don’t like to use the phone setting rotation lock because I use many other apps that I need to rotate the screen. They also took away the brightness feature. I don’t like that because now it doesn’t get dark enough when I read at night. There is a nice feature that will ask if you want to resume where you left off if you close the app or switch devices or even borrow the book again. Since the last major update, this feature doesn’t work right anymore and takes me to some other spot that I have already read. Sometimes, I will be reading for awhile and it will randomly ask me if I want to resume where I left off. Sometimes it will ask me several times. Bring back the in app settings that were taken away.

Great but for the page turning. I know that my complaint may seem petty compared to the problems other people have had with this app, but cloudLibrary seems to work pretty well for me, but for the odd glitches and bugs here and there. My complaint is that you took away the page turn. I know it’s really petty and kind of unimportant, but this really is my main complaint with the app. In one of your recent updates, you removed the page turning animation. I really liked it, and now really miss it. It made me feel like I was reading a real book. If you didn’t like it, you could just tap the edge of the page instead of swiping. I think you could at least put it in as a setting so that you can turn back on. It made reading on the app more cozy, and I really liked it. Thank you for your time, Kiera

Take up meditation, you will need it.. Audiobooks stop randomly while playing, and then you hope and pray you don’t get the dreaded “playback error” where all you can do is log out, lose your spot, and log back in. Then you get to try and search for where you left off, which is even more complicated as sometimes the interface shows “tracks” and other times “chapters”. Hint, the two have nothing to do with each other. There is no way do download the whole audio file and even the slightest network interruption seems to cause failures, oh, and it means you either have to be on wifi or use your cell data to stream live. Needless to say don’t use while driving, or you will have a very quiet ride. Seems this app was developed to prove people don’t like audiobooks and to reduce circulation of them. I’d love to not recommend the app, but for the libraries near me, I don’t have another choice.
