Terrible update. Opened the app since the new update and everything is completely different. I've used the app A LOT and now I can't even figure out how to open up a drum pad

Crashes when touched. You touch any controls including volume, pan, transpose and any of the knobs above the keyboard and it instantly crashes.

Paid for this stupid App and still get Ads where it locks me out from using the App. Shame on IK Multimedia. This is not the experience I should have after spending as much money as I did on this iOS software. Now I’m going to go and find the receipt of my purchase and contact Apple for my money back. Unbelievable!!!!

Good sounds... 2 bad you can’t use them. The sounds are more than decent... unfortunately it seems the developer wants you to use the app exclusively. Too bad it lacks basic sequencer features and has no plug in support. Developers didn’t update to the Audiobus 3 sdk so now all that money I spent on in app purchases (<$100) is practically useless. Audiobus 2 is not even available any more so I’m just stuck with an 80s style sequencer where you can’t even edit notes and that blows. Make it a complete production environment or make it work with other apps otherwise quit!

Crashes when I try to adjust perimeters. Might be good but the app crashes if I try to turn a knob.

Please fix the crashes!. SampleTank crashes when trying to use the knobs to modify a sound parameter. I love the app and use it all the time, but need the crash fixed please!

Fantastic Library!. From guitars, to orchestras, pianos, synths, percussion, voices. Links nicely with Cubasis, both midi and audio, and Audiobus. Lots of patterns associated with the sounds. Finally, they fixed the ios 12 bugs.

DEAD. I have closed it down and reopened .....I even deleted and then re downloaded. I was working fine with the occasional crash. Now it won’t even respond to anything. I mean nothing. iPad Pro 2nd gen.

Add On Organs. A lot of these sounds are just chords and cutoff changed which you could do yourself so your really not getting that many different organs. Other than that I would have gave it 5 stars. I use a Fishman Triple Play on a strat sounds track nicely.

Very deceptive "promotion". Not sure why their website claims in app instruments are on sale while still showing full price in app! I'm not going to dive in head first trusting that the discount will get honored when most likely it will not! Also, the prices have no list of what you'll actually receive! They just seem to want to just charge without explaining what exactly you're paying for! ABSURD!!! ONE STAR!!!

Stand alone only....still?. Sound good. Doesn’t like to play with other adult apps.

CATER TOO MUCH TO ELECTRONIC, DUBSTEP OR DANCE. Another reason why I give this app one star is that you people cater more to dance, pop, rap but not enough to us rock and roll fans. Why can’t you guys create pwith classical, blues or metal rock? This would be such a huge plus. Just look at how many electronic sounds you have or synth. You people need to know that there are people out here who love rock so please l think about this.

Great app but hate add pop up. I am pleased with the samples in this app there very good. But they keep having an ad for their new product popping up and it is hard to get rid of you press the X and it goes to the website for their new app. After about 3 or 4 times of pressing on the X it finally stops going to their website. I paid to much for this app to have an add pop up. I will never buy anymore of there products if there going to continue to bombard me with new product ads.

Update PLEASE 👽👾🤖🎶. Some of the best synths and samples out there for iOS but they make them SO hard to actually incorporate into anything you are working on. Please please please add background audio support, AU, let Sampletank play well with others via midi. I’ve spent well over $100 on samples and loops here that I can’t use with my iOS DAW. If AUM, MODSTEP, AURIA PRO, BeatMaker 3, BeatHawk, OR CUBASIS 2 or any other iOS daw for that matter can utilize sampletank please contact me as I would love to give this app 5 stars. As is- I’m afraid the Devs are mostly done with it and just riding on easy street these day.

Wanna like it.. Trying to implement a mobile sketch studio using Cubasis and SampleTank. Trying to use SampleTank because it seems to have the best sounds for a basic orch template. But, like another review stated, the integration is a mess. Audio Units compatibility would be a dream. It’s useless as a real mobile DAW on it’s own. Wish ST could integrate like Kontakt does in full DAWs. Actually wish Kontakt had an iOS ver but... Saving the worse for last. I finally came up with a useable template utilizing “AudioBus” only to find that Cubasis mixer does not control ST and of course when I attempt to adjust channel vol in ST it crashes. Known, killer bug that is a over a month old with no fix available.

No longer works iPad Pro. As soon as I tap a knob (volume, pan etc) the app crashes. Decided to do a full wipe since there was a major update anyway, and I have the exact same results. The Crashes render it inoperable.

SampleTank is good sounding but aloof. It's got good sounds, I'll give it that. But, SampleTank is a burdensome when it comes to user-interface and doesn’t take advantage of iOS audio as one would hope. Pros: 👂Quality sounds and good expression when tweaking the controllers. CONS: 🤬SampleTank is in a world of its own. The app ignores the capabilities of iOS, No AU3 support, NO separate channels for discrete instrument mixing just stereo. 🙈Hit with in iRig "advertisement" splash page at every SampleTank launch. 🙈Cannot read user manual unless you register the product through their website, and only after confirmation. 😾The user manual is nested four button presses deep to find information, and no option to download the documentation as a PDF or separate webpage and no manual available at their support site. 😿The Transport Controls are difficult to see if they are active or not and e.g. The record button is so bright it always appears to be on. 👺SampleTank has sloppy internal MIDI implementation so playing it with the other internal apps can be challenging, and there's no standard MIDI implementation chart

Not working anymore. This used to be my favorite synth app but now it keeps crashing any time you try and move any of the on screen controls so now it’s worthless, glad I’ve only been using the free version and didn’t waste money on adding additional sounds, there’s enough free soft synths out there so goodbye IK Multimedia.

Awesome app!. The orchestral instruments are unmatched in iOS. I am with everyone else when they request that SampleTank be more friendly with DAWs like Auria Pro and Cubasis. I would also love to see you come out with some better quality choir samples. Keep up the good work!

Had high hopes. 🤷‍♂️ Good but needs work.. I had high hopes for this app when I purchased it years ago. I’ve used it live a few times but always felt a little limited on the polyphony. It has pretty good sounds. I recently purchased more in app sounds. The app is good for using one sound at a time and maybe the drum samples but it will drop notes when you play. I had some issues in live mode with stuck notes when enabling and disabling sounds from a set. Over the years I’ve tried to in corporate it with other apps but I think it’s better to choose it for a drum track or an instrument and not both. Overall it is more stable than some of the other apps I’ve used. Going forward I’ve decided to try to spend money on auv3 apps from reputable developers. It can be a challenge trying to go back and forth between apps running in the background. I have the IK Total studio on my laptop. Seeing this app has not really been updated in a long time it’s hard to suggest investing a lot of money in it. I kind of thought it would be a big difference when I purchased the other sounds recently but think it was not a good idea after spending more time with it lately I wish I had put that towards more gear or other auv3.

Sounds great...but..... This app has a lot of great sounds and features. I was surprised that you can do quite complicated layers and splits, which is awesome. It's so close to being great. However... The "multis" have a lot of issues which essentially make this app unusable for live shows. Reordering is wonky - it swaps the positions instead of moving the item. Also, opening multis from other phones will prevent them from being re ordered at all. And the default order isn't even alphabetical - it appears random. If the ordering of multis were fixed I would give this app a 5/5 rather than 1/5.

Good bye Sampletank. I’m definitely deleting this after I write this. It was great and I loved it when I bought it when it came out, but it’s obsolete now and I wouldn’t buy it today. I can pretty much get the same sounds from other apps that are audio units and I’m 100% this will never become an audio unit. I never use it now and it’s just wasting space on my IPad

Need update. I love this app. Please make support auv3

Really Like It. I’ve been using SampleTank since it first dropped I’m 2001 and purchased the app when it was first available for iOS. It’s been one of m,y favorite apps for nearly 20 years. I would love to see AU3 support and expanded multi timber to 16 channels.

SampleTank is good, needs some housekeeping. I wanted a sampler on my idevice similar to what I had on my PC. Decided to use this app and I have found it useful to create ideas for songs via its sequencing capabilities, which in my opinion, they are not needed now, since the app can be used via Audiobus or IAA with more capable sequencers. I really like that there are plenty of useful patches to use, decent basic effects, pads, the use of external MIDI devices (not just the iRig) plus the ability to save the MIDI files, or audio files is a plus. So, why not 5-stars? Well, the annoyance of the program asking me to buy/register whatever new product IK is selling and that I will not buy really bothers me. If I want to buy it I will, do not remind me everytime I open the app. Also, I think it is time for you to do some house cleaning as there are, may I dare say, too many sounds!!! Ok, this is my fix, it is time for the app to have a favorite sounds section in each of the sound categories. For example, in the Drums section, you can select the kits that you like the most and those selected as favorites will be shown at the top of the respective category. That way you do not need to navigate the extensive catalog of sounds. For example, finding your favorite synth patch is a nightmare as there are many, especially with the added Moog expansion. Ok, that is it, great sampler, capable of interacting with other apps, somewhat annoying popups, with a real need of organization.

AUv3 Update Needed Desperately!. The quality of the sound has increased amazingly after this update. Now 8 sound multitimbral, which means you can drive up to eight layered midi tracks all at once giving you sonic power of unheard of quality right on your iPad or even the iPhone. I am using this sound module with MidiBand 3.1 and I'm creating incredible backing tracks in minutes not hours. All because of the amazing sonic power IK multimedia has provided to us. For those on the fence, fear no more, this is it! I missed out on the sale by two hours, although it was still 10pm where I am at, It still didn't go through, but I will not miss out next time. For now the stock sounds are doing just fine. I really love the drums and electric and acoustic guitar sounds now, they just have so much more realism than ever before. With Midiband 3.1, i'm able to drive up to 16 midi tracks all at once, but with 8 that is all i really need for now. Bass, drums, pads, acoustics, electric guitars, all in there and more. I can't wait to see what else is in store for this amazing app, but for now, get it! Heck you can even try it for free! 5 stars worth IMHO!! Please update to AUv3 and will put this over the top! I highly recommend this app! MM4C

Shame. Do you (some reviewers before me) really believe what you’re saying? That “it sounds fantastic”? Is it a joke? I give some credit (hence the one star) for IK Multimedia for trying. But the quality is so low, I almost felt nauseated after I purchased it and played the sounds for about 5 minutes. Have you ever heard good quality and well balanced sampled instruments? Like a Korg Kronos or a Yamaha Motif XF or even a Roland Fantom X? The workstations of yesteryears? We are talking about 10-15 years old models, right? This ST app is a miserable mistake of the developer or an ugly insult to any serious musician, ladies and gentlemen. Did you hear the “Grand piano” patch? One sample per every fifth? Or octave, and then the sustain loops? And maybe two velocity layers of samples at the very max? I’m not even a pianist, I just fool around with synths, but that, my friends, is unacceptable in 2021. I get it that it costs only $25, but there are excellent sounding apps out there (D1, FM1, etc.) for less. Well, they are not aiming to be multitimbral romplers, as ST is, though! The only reason I gave it a shot in spite the mixed reviews and 2.8 rating (thanks for the honesty of some guys!) was that hardware modules are not available anymore. And I prefer hardware. Maybe the Roland Integra 7. It’s $1,800, but it is the real deal, so I’m pulling the trigger. Plus, I had one before, so I know what I’m getting. But this app, once again, made me upset. Not about wasting $25, but about how much lower can we set the bar in an effort to “satisfy” everyone and make this utter garbage available and affordable for young and maybe otherwise totally talented users. Shame, shame, shame …

New sampletank. Please bring us a new sampletank 2024! ! (:

Important App!. This is a great sounding app of multi sampled instruments. I have invested a lot in it. Hope to see it as an Audio Unit instrument soon. Interapp Audio has been extremely useful.

Crashes & Still No AU Support. It crashes every time I touch a knob. I see several others with the same complaint. For now, this app is broken. When it works, the sounds are decent, but nearing the end of 2018 still without AU support is a pretty big let down. Its just not worth it since you probably won’t be using Sample Tank in much of your work. I don’t have much faith in IK to keep up any more.

Switch. Have you considered revisiting and making this AUv compatible? Would love to use it.

Disappointed Customer!. It has been a little over a month since the iOS 12 update came out, and in that time period they have already offered two improvements to the operating system; yet IK Multimedia hasn’t offered any solutions to the glitches and app crashes that are occurring as a result of these updates, leaving customers who use this app frequently feeling disappointed.

Needs to be brought up to date. it needs to at least have its own virtual midi port, ableton link support and at least be brought up to the latest audiobus midi Sdk...

Frozen. Completely frozen on two separate iPads will not accept any input

Warning DO NOT BUY Pricing Manipulation and No Updates. The sounds are good and I will allow you your faith ( the object that tells you everything is going to be ok ) but the price YOU pay for it carries consequences you cannot fathom. I have given hundreds of what obviously is your faith and I hope you enjoy your temporary happiness. Give me the rest of what I paid for. I bought the app, the expanded, the pro, the grid, Miroslaw 1 and 2, the entire sonic synth package, cinematic percussion, orchestral percussion and the american acoustic. I have shaded choices in the instruments as well as shaded keys on instruments that can go further up or down the scales. Do not press me to use my voice further. On top of a narcotic users character , all the samples are popping still on 13.3

Not cool. It might just be me but does this app have problems for an iPhone? Mine keeps force closing. Pretty upsetting for the amount I paid for it.

Looking for Keyboard sounds? This app is #1 by far!. Before SampleTank I was using high end hardware Keyboard/Workstation/Synth/Samplers . Now with a basic $99 midi controller and this Application my life has changed. The sounds are fantastic, rivals all current keyboards on the market, and the expansions are phenomenal. If you are a keyboard player and looking for something to work with live or in studio out of the iPad this is where you need to start. There are similar apps, but most are one trick ponies compared to SampleTank. Sure there are great piano apps, synth apps, organ etc etc, this app covers it all and does it very very well. Create layers/Splits that are phenomenal sounding in any setting. SampleTank puts “Module” to shame on EVERY level. My reason for not giving the 5th star is because OS updates can sometimes cause major problems with functionality, not too long ago the app was unusable for about a month due to incompatibility with new updates from Apple. However once corrected the app is now better than ever. IK you have created an amazing product here, my only request is you keep it a little more up to date for those of us who depend on it. Keep the awesome work.

Not usable anymore - abandonware!. IAA(inter-app-audio) has been phased out. You can’t use the sounds in Logic Pro.

Great app but crashes. Crashes every time I use it. If you try adjust the parameters it crashes. Not au support. You to great to be lacking so much. Update the apps and show your customers you take your product serious. You get 0 stars. No audio unit support.

AU support please. IK apps have some of the best sounds out there but without AU support I’m unable to use them in all the cool ways I could with some midi compatibility. When IK gets with the modern times there is so much money to be made because I, for one, would then be interested in their complete catalog of sounds on multiple apps.

Dead in the water. This app had so much potential and it seems they just let it fade to obscurity when it could’ve been the best sounds module app on iOS! The sounds are awesome! But unless you’re just a live keyboard performer looking for a library of sounds to choose from, this app is a headache. Not integration with other iOS music apps through the typical protocols. No possible way to mix out instrument tracks…relatively expensive sound packs! If they simply made an AUV3 update that would put this app on par with other sound module apps. But without it…it just makes this a waste of storage as I can implement it in ANY of my current projects. What a waste of possibilities!

Very unclear. This package is not as described. When a company like this offers you somthing that appears to be a combo of three separate softwares and then gives you limited versions I call it fraud. The description and price should reflect that the piano and rhodes are limited free versions and that Sample Tank itslef only has about 30% of the sounds one would expect when purchasing the full version. Its defintiely not a deal. Very dissapointed.

Midi Problem.. Hi, seems no function upon changing midi channel, seems to be always in Omni. Thank you.

thanks for the update. works well. the sounds of the expansions are worth the price. when theyre half off $. the pianos offered are substandard. the drum demos wont play in the "shop" menu of the app. and there are no demos on your site to hear. this app has gone up and down in stability. its not cheap. for now its simply the only real multi timbral sampler option. the miraslov orchestra 2 is amazing. and when its half off, highly recommended and worth getting sampletank for, on its own. works incrediblywell in conjunction with isymphonic... the pianos in the miraslov, however, are the worst on the market. easily, the worst. everything else is top notch. don't buy it for the pianos. the stock sounds are average. you need to expand and have space to get its max potential. it'll cost you fifty bucks to do it right. if you know what an "eps16+" is you'll be right at home.

Feel Ripped Off, Buy Korg Gadge. 140 sounds seems like a lot, but there are so many you’ll never use. And they skimp on the sounds you will use... not enough drums or basses. The bass selection is especially horrible. I purchased another 35 based for $10 (so expensive!!!). The real basses were good in the add on but the synth basses were horrible. This whole application is designed to make you buy more and more sounds. They show you all the sounds you don’t have as you use the app. And the choices for the sounds they give you just aren’t useful enough. More: The timing when you control it with external midi off by random milliseconds on every trigger. It is noticeable on drums.

Keeps crashing. Pretty much unusable, keeps crashing on iPad.

Not working in IOS 14. Frozen screen even after uninstalling and reinstalling

Needs serious improvement.. Don't get me wrong the piano sound in this app is well worth paying 20 dollars for. And there are other great sounds in there amongst the sea of GM's(general-midi). But in my book right now it loses two stars for continuous crashing/instability when open with other apps. I say two because So far the main two I'd like to use it with are simply not happening.(animoog and beatmaker or tabletop) It loses another two for lack of customization. I'd like to be able to make my own grooves in addition to just using presets. It loses the other customization star for limiting certain parameters for the instruments. If they are sample based patches they should all have the same options for modulation and effects. and It would be cool to be able to assign certain parameters to the mod wheel/pitch bend/accelerometer features. If all these things were achievable there would be absolutely no need for any other music application. 4 simultaneous custom midi channel instruments is such a good feature and needs to be backed up by things that other apps do so much better as of right now.

SampleTank freeze won’t work. Hi guys me and my friends are having some problems with SampleTank the app froze when it open we don’t know what going on because there is no sound coming out just everything froze if guys are doing some update let us know please.

You have to use midi controller I promise it will speed up your flow awesome sounds.. Use a midi controller it helps got some best sounds can’t find any were else

Huge range of good quality sounds, but.... The new SampleTank 2 interface is a little more intuitive. However, I prefer Korg's Module app for its beautiful graphics, integrated "Search for Bluetooth Midi input", its mono/stereo output option, and because the Store page gives more information on what is on offer - like how big the sample library is, and a list of which instruments it contains, and more demo clips. I also wish SampleTank had the option to choose which USB channels to use for audio output, like Loopy HD and GarageBand have. The app icon needs a refresh.

So little for so much. The full version seems more like a demo, not many sounds. You get some extra if you have there midi kit :-/ or you can buy the the lot - in app - for $40. Yer, right. The edit options are very limited as well, and the filter step badly! The few sound you get are usable... Ummm, yer, save your money.

Its good but.... This app is good nice sound studio quality. There is a free version and full version. I paid for full version then i realized you have to fkn pay extta to get more sounds.. This is rigged. If i knew i would have got the free version.. Very expensive. You pay 20 for app then add other packs its going to cost a fortune. Its a ipad not a damn imac......

Still Can't Download Again After Update... Ripped Off!. The warning not to delete the app would have been beneficial on the first update of the app. I now can't download the app after trying to do a clean install on my iPad2 since you didn't bother to warn customers the first time around! Still feeling a bit ripped off!

Core midi please. Love the app. Cant wait to be able to sync it up via ore midi/ virtual midi between apps. The sounds are great

Mainstage for iPad!!. I use the iPad Pro as my main music device for playing live - I run OnSong and Sampletank at the same time. Sampletank is almost perfect as a live playing instrument - the Live environment is exceptionally intuitive and versatile with layering of up to 8 instruments, midi implementation, separate effects, levels and splits on the keyboard. In addition it will run in the background, which several other ‘rivals’ don’t seem to do, which means I can have it up and running while using a chart app like OnSong on the front end at the same time. I would recommend this app to anyone who is using a keyboard for playing live. Totally satisfied.

Ripped off. Can't get my old sample tank back and can't use the new 2.0 !! Come on guys it's a necessary app for me and I'll want a replacement now that does the same sort of job only can cope with the older iPad.

Samplepad pro sound pack faulty. I loaded the pro sound pack at great cost but it doesn't function properly. It is non responsive and uninstalls itself every time that I restart the app.

Hey guys - still no AU???. Ik multimedia made good products. But... many of them rarely receive updates. I like to encourage an app developer. And often with IK multimedia I bought the big "kit" Now I get offers for new applications from IK. Those are great. In addition, the new programs include 2021 features like Audio Unit. But, most of my previous purchases are falling into disuse due to the lack of updating. Sample Tank is a good example. Without the Audio Unit function, this program is not very useful. It’s a shame because it’s a very nice soundbank. In the forums, Ik multimedia has mentioned a few times that these functions will soon be integrated. But ultimately, after several years, this is not the case. In contrast, all their new programs benefit from these functions. And that's why I'm reluctant to get a new program from this company. Ik Multimedia, what are you doing?

What have they done to what was already a bad interface?. This thing is so infested with adware it is sickening. Sound updates are good, but docked a star for the confusion with the sound options. It feels like a money trap. Get that crap out of there, and the respect for the app might grow among the hardcore users of iOS music production software. They see through it, and it has really jaded them to this developer. Atone, lol.

Awesome for iPads!. I was upset buying this app initially because it was only sized for iphone. This update gave the layout an overhaul for ipad and it rocks. Looks amazing so far. I wasn't really using it much before because the iPhone only layout was awkward. The sounds are great, and with the new design I think I'll be loving this. Glad I put the money down initially to keep the app moving forward. I no longer have any buyers remorse because of this amazing update. Thank you!!!!!!

Sample tank. Apres avoir reussi a faire fonctionner mon roland a800 pro controlleur je suis tres satisfait de Sampletank je m'en sert comme stand alone Bazou 72

No way to change keyboard size. So I bought the all sounds pack, and then when I try to play a song, there's no comfortable size on my iPhone 5s. I would have bought more, but since I can't play because the keyboard size or either to big I can't see all the keys or to small I can't play properly, I won't be using this so until there is an option to change the keyboard size. Which should be obvious. Plus they're to much cutesy there should be a suitable court option as well. Please fix these and I will be a loyal customer, but otherwise this app is useless unless I buy a midi keyboard

Potential but no AUv3 support. Great potential as the libraries contain some really good orchestral sounds (very usable for sketching some good sounding ideas on an iPad). However, the lack of audio unit (AUv3) support is forcing this app to be used only on very limited scenarios. If you want to create a complex project on Cubasis for example with quite a few active tracks you won’t have the chance to do that with Sampletank and its inter-app audio support will limit you to maybe 2 or 3 tracks before things start to crash when you are using it as a multi timbral instrument...too bad.

HELP. Ok so I have had this app for a couple months now. The 19.99$ version.. I recently downloaded beatmaker 2. Pretty happy with the app. My problem is, ever since I started using beat maker anytime I use sampletank every sound is literally distorted. I keep trying to fix this problem within the app and before I get anywhere it just shuts the app down for no reason. I have deleted and reinstalled, still same problem. Can anyone help me here? Thanks

Great App however,. *** Note this isn't an upgrade for Sampletank Free. All previously purchased sound packs "In-App" with the free version do not transfer over to the full version. I had to purchase them all again "In-App" with the Full Version. This is something everyone should be aware of, as it increases the overall cost dramatically. Consider staying with the free version if you have purchased many sound packs! *** I would have given the App a higher rating if it weren't for the above stated inconveniences. Hopefully now I can have some fun with it... P.S. I have a Pro Tools based home studio so my expectations may be higher than the average user however,

Fantastic. Love this app. My only complaint with it is that recording/rerecording parts is clunky. I'd like the option to overdub or correct/rerecord sections while its playing back... So I can use this in a Live environment. Currently you have to stop before making corrections. Would love it to be otherwise. Similar to how Tabletop does it. If that's added then I'll buy the addons! Still deserves a five star rating while I wait.

Do not buy.... I erased my iPad and I can't re install it because it's version 2.... and not compatible with this iPad anymore.... What will happen in a year? Must we always update our hardware???

SampleTank it’s osom. Can’t wait to buy iPad on payday

No pitch bend range settings. It could be great, just learn from others, remove those hundreds of useless music phrases, as if this is a DJ app. Leave them for drums, make it more friendly, no need to press load and done, just load is enough. Some more looping capabilities and it will be famous like thumb jam if you put few midi settings inside.

iPad 1 users got left out. I have been using this on my iPad 1 for a few years now until the app stopped opening one day and now it says I need iOS 8 to download again. Not cool to leave iPad 1 users out in the dark!

Hmmmmm.... I would like to have a full 88 keyboard and remove the notes that play little beats. And the sound is really bad when the volume is high. It's not the case with Garageband

So much fun. Why are there reviews 8 years old and even 3 years old. Sample tank has been updated so many times since then. How is anyone trying to get an idea if the app is worth getting when they read old reviews that are not relevant. Come on apple, you are doing well enough to have a proper rating system. Ratings are for customers and developers. It's not to show ratings out of date since several years. It's absurd. Sampletank is great. I read a bad review complaining about having to update his iPad. Hey buddy. The price of this app is almost free for what you get. Instead of using outdated iPads and apps like this, go buy all the hardware necessary to make a fraction of these sounds and then complain again about upgrade prices. You are working with electronic music. If you don't want to upgrade ever then stop updating your apps. You want it all for free, even the huge improvements in technology. Good luck in life trying to live only on freebies. I get so annoyed at complaints about having to spend money. Try to develop apps and tell me it should be free forever including updates and all apps should work on every old device no matter the improvements. Thinking is required in life. Try it and you will see a change in realizing what is actually going on around you instead of being in a fantasy of what you would like to be happening.

Asks you to purchase other items. Purchased app. Prompts me to try grove maker or other apps every time I load it. Annoying when you want to use this as an instrument. No setting to turn off these alerts? Other than that the app is great.

Great but still a few accessibility glitches.. I am a totally blind user and I rely on Apple's built-in screenreader, VoiceOver, to read what is on the screen. I have been using SampleTank for a while, and it is great to see that the app has had some improvements as far as accessibility goes. However, there are still a few unlabelled buttons which need to be fixed in the next release. Otherwise, great app, great studio quality sounds! Keep the sounds and sound packs coming!

Great Until Last Update!. I really enjoyed working with this APP. I have spent many hours creating my own samples. I made all 100 of them. Then the latest update came and I'm not really sure how it's better or different because I can't tell the difference between the before and after. However, the APP crashed upon relaunching after The last big update. I contacted Tech support three different times but all I got was cut and paste canned responses to reinstall the APP for free. Well guys you did not do me any favors by telling me that for which I had already figured out by myself. However, worse than the lousy indifferent customer support over this update fiasco was that I lost all of my 100 sound samples with the new reinstall. I did not even get a sorry about that from the CS reps. So understandably I am ticked off about not only losing all of my sound samples but then getting lousy customer service on reps who could have cared less about my issue. I would say a great product with almost non existent customer support, so buyer beware if you have an issue with your APP do not expect any real help from this companies CS Reps.

Tonewood amp. The sampletank is really awesome tools for my Tonewood amp. But recently i have a hard time connecting it to the TWA.

Fantastic App(including the iRig MIDI). The app and iRig MIDI have worked flawlessly. I needed this for a gig, and hooked it up to an old Roland A-30...worked immediately without a hitch...bravo!

Desperately needs updating!!! HELLO IK CAN YOU HEAR ME?. I love IK products. I’ve spent a lot of money on software and hardware. My main go to products are Sampletank and AmpliTube. I’m starting to look elsewhere for iOS apps as they are up to date with the latest technology and offer way more for less money. I want to stay with Sampletank iOS but I’m not going to spend ridiculous amounts of money for sound packs if IK doesn’t want to take the time to update apps and take iOS seriously. The iOS music production movement is now and they are so late to the party that I hope they come out with something that will compete with new app developers soon. I have one foot out the door. Please IK I don’t want to look elsewhere but there is so much better quality product out there.

Doesn't work with IOS 8. Worked great with Cubasis and Audiobus then stopped with new iOS. Ugh. And I bought the full version.

Please fix the few bugs. There is a critical bug that crashes the app involving the presets in the performance mode which is very bad. I need to be able to use those presets and currently the app crashes every time i try to change the preset. I really need to be able to send more than one channel of midi data to the samples. This needs to be able to work and currently it doesnt. Original review below... Insanely good. Its a sample library on iPad and the new update brought it to the same standard as the desktop version if your iPad can handle it. This is just ridiculously awesome. Im so happy they do free updates because when they drop a whole bunch of new features it makes me more than willing to drop some money on the new sample packs.

Needs update - great app. Needs ios8 update, pretty useless without audio is support.

Sad. Lost all my previous purchases. One word for this vers. ... Lame!

Super handy. If u can afford it, get the Moog pack... Nice sounds there

The usual IK. SampleTank is abandoned by its creators and loyal users are left to watch IK’s next new things. IK should covet its earliest iterations like the vintage gear they emulate.

Hmmm so far so not good. I spent my 40$ and down loaded the app.The app opens, then freezes when the window opens asking to restore or dismiss in-app purchases.. it won’t even finish opening.

Great app. Fantastic app with very high quality samples. Very impressed considering the price. Great job to ik multimedia for really embracing the platform. Only wish the app has assignable controls so the volume control on my midi keyboard worked with the app. I'm told they will be adding this to a future release.

Awesome!. Best beat making app in app store, i bought rebirth for ipad, garageband, but sampletank is the best, create beats in secondes! For professionnal dj or just for fun. I will also buy the all sound bank, its 40$ + 20$ ( initial app) and i will have everything i want! Plus, you can plug your keyboard via midi to play songs in real time!! Its worth every penny!

Does not import user-created samples.. Does not import user-created samples. The guitar samples are laughably bad.

Seriously?!? 1Gb every tiny update??. "Audiobus Support" requires 987mb of update. Wow, that's incredible, boys.

Version 1.1 is awesome. Now that the ipad version is out and more sounds and patterns are available, this app really rocks. Some of the sweetest sounds you'll find on an IOS app.

Excellent. Great Sounding App and with AudioBus now, SampleTank going to the next level as being one of the best iOS App. IK keep up the good works and maybe you could give SampleTank Registered Users additional bonus sounds.

Hated it. The sounds are really crappy. I am just fed up with these apps that you pay good money for, then, you have to pay more for the good sounds. I would rather they were just up front about it. I would pay more for good sounds, but not if I feel like I am being manipulated. This is a disappointment because I like Ik-Multimedia. But right now 50 in one piano has much better sounds right out the box. And it's free!!

Great App. I have been using this app since my original first generation iPad with a Roland controller keyboard and the Alexis dock. I now use it with a newer iPad Air. I use this as my secondary keyboard in live performances. Originally, there were a few issues with distortion and not playing well with GarageBand, however these have all been resolved and it is a great application with some great sounds. It has always been reliable (though I keep it on my iPhone, too just in case!).

Not excited. The presets are marginally improved. However, I don't see the changes in the interface make it any more usable than the last version. It it was an AU app, I would give it five stars. It it had 8 audio outputs, I would give it four stars. Not excited by the update.

UndergroundHipHop. dope app. for sure i been doing muzik in the westcoast longbeach underground for 20+ years rocked out with Sublime, Psycho Realm and many more. only thing i got to criticize is the ios down load its a lil bit frustrating at times. sample tank 2 came with my irig keys but wont let me dl. besides that its worth every dollar...raspect to the makers 13TRIBEZ LBC WESTCOAST CALI. KBH HOST OF THE OPEN MIC SINCE 1993 at THE VERY 1ST HIPHOP B-BOY SPOT IN CALIFORNIA!!

Confusing purchase. So you can get the free sample tank and buy the 40 dollar sound pack? I just spent 20 on the paid version and now I have to spend 40 more to get all of the sounds that I could have gotten for 40 with the free app? This needs to be clarified.

Best sounding instruments. These are the best sounds I have found. If you are serious about making music cough up the money for the whole package with ALL the sounds (60 bucks unless you catch a sale). It's a lot of money, but the sounds are the best. Don't bother using the recorder, just play into your recording software and prepare to be amazed.

You've got to be kidding!. Just had all the money that I've invested in ST taken by IK with nothing in return because update no longer supports my iphone or iPad! I had removed ST in both devices prior to new update, now cannot use the app at all unless I buy new devices. Warning! Do not remove old app if you want to continue using ST with your old phone/iPad! Thks IK... Refund or backward compatibility required

IK Multimedia worse company. Why is it that company's like this rip people off? Seriously, I have now paid full price for an outdated app. I'm stuck with version 1.8.5 because this company decided they don't want to support my iPad model with their version 2. I didn't get any notice about this new version compatibility until I scoured the internet looking for why the app won't update on my iPad. Will they offer me some discounts or rebates? I feel like my *** has been left in the wind. This isn't the first time this company has done this BS. It's why I don't buy any of their other sshtuff! So, BUYER BEWARE OF THIS JACKED UP COMPANY.

Great App!!!. This is great application. I bought the full audio package and have used the patches for many gigs with my 88 key M-Audio. The only thing I would like to see is the option to use the apple USB camera dock for USB midi data. I want to be able use an AKAI EWI USB to utilize the great woodwind instruments but I have no option but the irig MIDI which is also an amazing device from IK. Enable the USB function and this could revolutionize music apps with iOS...

Last Update. I've had this app for a while & had no problems until this last update. The app crashes when I open it in my music app please fix this issue please.

Too Cool. Sounds are superior to other apps ( equal to Garageband but a little more versatile especially in the drums department) but the sequencer could benefit from some editing functions. I love the app but not having a better sequencer makes me not be able to take this one into serious consideration as far being a truly professional production tool. But keep up the good work, it is only ver 1.2, and that says a lot about the HOME RUN your hitting with only two versions being released! Kudos!

Try again. I was chatting with some fellow iOS musicians about SampleTank, and was happy to hear AudioCopy was added. That's great! I re-downloaded it, restarted my iPad 3 with iOS 6. It worked alright for a few minutes, but went down hill fast. Sadly, it crashed very soon after I tried to get the virtual MIDI to work. Then again while selecting an instrument. Tried a few more times to give a very fair shot, after deleting and re-installing. Seemed ok for a bit, then once again it crashed when I tried to start virtual MIDI, just moving through the options to set it up. Bummer. It's a shame, Sample Tank is full of great sounds, a good UI, and solid features. It could be a fantastic and useful app, but its hard to argue in favor of it in this current state. I hope it gets fixed up soon? I'd really like to use it without hiccups. Maybe it's an iOS 6 thing, and works perfectly with older ios versions? I don't know, all I know is its unstable. Maybe next update will be better? I hope so.

Out of the park. With the universal update IK have really brought us a spectacular app. I am just getting into the new features but hey have shown that they are serious about producing a very professional instrument for musicians on the go. I appreciate the additional instruments in this update as well. Quick note. If you are using an Alesis iO Dock make sure you select dock profile B and it works like a charm. Keep up the great work.

Do NOT even try with iPad3/Retina. As the others say, this newer version will not work, nor will it upgrade from the older version - so it will be stuck forever in your updates waiting to be upgraded... The earlier version worked fine, and there are plenty of other apps loaded here that work without issue. I will probably start deleting these programs that get stuck in the update cycle...EDIT: Had to uninstall due to stuck update cycle...shame.

Unfair Reviews. Brooklodyte - You can absolutely turn off the loops that are triggered by lower keys. Go to the "Keys" tab up top and hit the 5th button from the left (after A,B,C,D) that looks like a staff. As for the comment that it will only survive if it can act independently of outside hardware... Am I missing something? How can an iPad act as a midi sound module on its own?!? This app never gives me a problem, is an absolute jewel, and a definite 5 star (and I use it at least weekly in live performance situations).

Not working. It's supposed to play in the back ground! I select it in the menu but when I open amplitude or GarageBand it audio fades out. Simply put it does not work:( if I'm missing something let me know. It's seems like a thing that's been around for decades now, recording midi tracks! Sound modules should be a smooth process. Amplitude runs fine in background mode with GarageBand. Simple

Love it - Audiobus Please!!!. I love this App it does very well it does excellent!!! specially if you wanna carry a small rig. The reason for just 4 stars is that there are other apps that have features that sample tan lacks, and they cost less The sounds are good and solid and creating layers is a breeze is very responsive with my very light USB midi controller so I have taken my Motif and my USB controller and trigger The layers it sounds very good, here is my wish list: 1) it would be great if they add the ability to make the keyboard splits from the app ( assign the notes upper or lower limits within the app) 2) the ability to load your own samples And the ability to record them within the app 3) the 4 track recorder leaves a lot to be desired compared to other apps however I rather not record on the app I rather use it as a sound module. 4) the ability to copy and paste to other apps Hopefully they will add all of the above in a future update- sample tank iOS is on the right track! Get it you will not be sorry! Audiobus Please!!!

I was mislead.... In short, it was over $20 wasted. All the videos and demos make this app *sound* like a perfect solution for playing great-sounding instruments live with a MIDI keyboard… BUT, even though I bought the "full" version, it seems like all the best voices will cost more. Then there's the "patterns" which start playing when you hit low notes, AND THERE'S NO WAY TO TURN THEM OFF. Yes, you can stop them, but you can't use the full keyboard! I'm a pianist, I need those notes!

Great app but............... Great tool but I have trouble using my you rock guitar midi controller, sometimes it works great other times it will not work at all!!!!!!!! I get a " this device has to much power" icon then I have to delete the app, reinstall it then it works but all my projects are gone.

MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY. I love the idea of this app. But when I first purchased it, I was not very good at figuring how to use it, especially since I am not a musician. I'm just an ordinary person trying to learn how to play my little keyboard and trying to teach myself music and music theory. The only thing that I don't like about the app is that it is very large and I do not have enough room on my device to keep it there even after deleting other apps and data that I no longer need on my iPad. So for now I am not using it. Thanks.

I love version 2!. It took me a little time to adjust to the new interface but I like it. The addition of the new sound libraries and packs is a nice plus -- they put me closer to having the desktop version's selection.

Good but , EXSPENSIVE and static noise. Theres cool sounds but its very pricey for in app sound packs ! Be forwarned only purchase in apps sound upgrades on one or the other Free version or Paid version of sampletank as the purchased sound pack upgrades dont carry over from one to the other ( as they should ) and you will be charged twice for the same sound pack . Also ive noticed it being glitchy when scrolling up and down the keyboatd and when switching between instruments . All that being said there are some really cool sounds on it . I would give it four maybe five stars except for the really high prices and glitching.

Good app but still need few improvements. I use this app from the first release without any issue, great for instant jam... The app was unable to start after the update 1.2 and close just after the start screen is displayed. As read on many forums, i have tried the following solution : remove (delete) the app from the ipad then try complete reinstall. Now the app start and can be used but i have lost all my personal presets. improvement needs : - Non destruction of personal datas in case of app. removal (i already face the same crash issue with other apps, and never lost my works even after a total removal/reinstall... - A small mixer would be more easier for the sound balance than switching between the 4 parts windows.

Awesome.... Love you .... Man I love this app... Great strings and sounds.... All the way threw.... Wish there was more bass and guitar banks... Maybe in the future.... And a more pro drum set... Some 808 and 809 .... And you guys would be number 1 we'll worth my money... And I spent on the pack and the live sounds...

Perfect. when you have multiple instruments, tracks, great sounds, and a way to go through audiobus? let me tell you, you have it all and no need for anything… excellent.. buy it.

Sampletank...Here's hoping for more. I have been a fan of Sampletank for a couple of years and was excited when this came out. I have an iPhone and an iPad 2 and installed it on both. Come to find out that even though it says for the iPad right now it's not but it still works okay. Here are some suggestion IK: 1--On your sound packs we don't know what we're buying, they aren't expensive but it would be nice to have some idea ahead of time. 2--We need realistic guitar strumming.. 3--It's obvious that you folks love hip hop, house, and techno and maybe most of your customers do too but for those of us that don't please remember us too. 4--Simplify layering please. This is a really good program that can and probably will be great if I know these folks at all, thanks for doing this.

Buzz in the background. There's a buzz distortion in the background of all the sounds I've tried everything I can think of but it still the buzz is still their. iPad 2 3G 64GB I have uninstalled then installed again twice cleared my multitasks and still buzz buzz. Used with my beats by Dre ,Bose,Sony headphones and some Sony Bluetooth headphones and the buzzing persist. Also been all over the ik multimedia web page and I can find no help on the issue at hand. Before the update everything sounded perfect & love the new iPad layout now SampleTank make since on my iPad 2. Please fix and keep up the great work. Thanks. I also updated my iPhone 4S and it now has the same buzz distortion as my iPad 2.

More than meets the eye. Definitely one of my favorite music apps, esp. When it comes to loops and instruments. UI finally improved and so that's definitely another big ups! Great Job!

Good overall quality with some tweaking needed. I've used this app on gigs and was pleasantly surprised with how it sounded! I think that IK needs to update this app with an actual sequencer similar to GarageBand. The overall sound quality in terms of bread and butter keyboard sounds as well as bass, guitar, synths, and drums is on par or better than GarageBand. The pianos are the best of any IOS app out there. IK Multimedia please update this great app, there hasn't been an update since the end of last year. Don't let this app go to waste folks!

This got to my music productive folder. Please fix some annoyances 1 I don't know which preset is empty or saved a little grey coloring on used preset buttons would help (instrument view) 2. Scale setting popup does not reflect the currently selected scale, again please indicate with a different color active scale key and type (key view) 3. Pads could also use other than chromatic scale 4. Icloud, dropbox backup of presets or midi sequences would enforce your motto: "musicians first" 5. Saving and latch mode is confusing and I never know whether I'm saving wav or midi 6. Why you cannot add delay time/bpm with presets that use delay effect Other that that it is a great app

Lag while changing multis (patches). I have used SampleTank for live performances for over 3 years. I'm very dissapinted with the delay introduced in new version when switching patches(now called multi) which takes 1-2 second to switch with cracking noises even in "ultra low" latency mode making it unusable in live performance situations. Please bring back the lightweight of patches and quick change between patches!!!!

Dissatisfied. Not investing anymore into the hype of SampleTank. Spent $20 for the base app which was "okay" but far from inspiring. So, I spent another $40 to buy the ALL SOUND PACKS. First- beware that you will still have sounds "greyed out" because when you buy All Sound Packs, you apparently aren't actually getting all of the sounds listed in the base app. Second- be prepared to be under-whelmed by pretty bad samples that quite frankly...well, just don't sound like something that is worth $60. The only thing I really am happy with is the interface. It is intuitive and user friendly. Unfortunately, at this point (based on my experience with this app, and their guitar apps) It really seems like they try to reel you in, to get you to spend more $$$$ on in-app-purchases, only to be left feeling like you didn't get the "amazing sample library" you were sold. If I could return it, I probably would.

Disappointed No Longer Compatible with iPad 2. I love SampleTank. It is a great iOS app, but when you leave your customers behind by releasing something no longer compatible, it makes you question what else will just become incompatible when you find out an update is available. I don't switch electronics just to have the latest model. My iPad is a musical workhorse for me and I expect it to work. Not a good move for a good company like IK Multimedia. I hope you give this a second thought. Thanks for the opportunity to comment.

Expensive and Useless. It's way past time that this app got fixed! After spending much money on in-app purchases for premium sounds, this app crashes on startup. Guys, that's a lot of cash I spent on this product to find it no longer works. IK Multimedia is a ripoff and I will never buy another of their products, ever. There are plenty of other reputable developers with quality products who care about their customers and I won't look back.

Good but I have a better app. Good sounds but not the best. Igrand and ilectric are much better. Try them especially igrand. It sounds better than my friends motif. I do still use this app because it has lots of sounds and I can change the sound with a tap of a button.

Product ok, but manual is held hostage!. It's ok, but priced way high for an iOS app. I was stunned to learn that the seller won't unlock access to the built-in documentation unless you register with them. That's extortion, plain and simple. I paid top dollar for this app, now you're going to hold me up for the instructions on how to use it? Apple's policy has always been that buyers do not have to disclose themselves to app sellers. This keeps us out of the spam chain, and protects our privacy. If SampleTank's makers want to give free _content_ to registrants, fine. But to withhold the documentation? That's a rip off.

Awful tech/customer support. I was excited to get this app, it,s good but being that the tech and customer support was so bad i really give it minus 5 stars. I had a problem and they basically give me no support to address the issue, would not return my calls and i was left holding the bag. This was the worst customer experience i ever had, good ads, good sales talk but nothing but hot air when i the customer had a simple problem, what a shame!

sampletank. great app. also...what does the u.s. iTunes app store have against system optimizer apps, system memory refreshing apps, & battery boosting apps? seriously! every time i find one that does it all, inevitably the app store phases it out. these types of utilities are readily available in every other store, but not in the u.s. store. it's as though apple doesn't want it's customers to be able to enjoy the benefits of this type of utility, and they don't have the right to decide that for their customers. (and yet they have done just that) hasn't anyone out there noticed this? i cannot be the only person.

It's an amazing app!. SampleTank is an amazing app. Works perfectly well in standalone mode, as well as in inter-app mode with GarageBand and BeatMaker 2. I love it and strongly recommend. The sound quality is just awesome. I'd never think that a mobile app could be of such a high standard, especially in music making. It's worth every penny. Cheers! :)

Realistic instruments galore!!!. I have a quite a few music apps but this is my all time go to app for more real instrument sounds. That it does and it does it all very well thanks for this one. 😜many of pre done raps are real good song starters.

Good general sounds, but Tron is a rip off. The sounds are good if a bit overly produced and unrealistic. Useful as a live general keyboard setup. HOWEVER the Tron add on is an absolute rip off. It claims 8 sounds without being specific as to what's included. I took a chance, and was disappointed to find that six of the eight sounds are really two standard trons with a few variations of corny effects built in. So you're really just getting three useable sounds. IK makes Sampletron, so they own many great Mellotron sounds. Unfortunately you just get the over-used flutes, strings and choir. That's it.

Can't buy anything, no keyboard. I've tried every trick I know to get the keyboard to display so I could enter my iTunes info and buy extra sample packs but the latest update seems to have broken it. No keyboard will pop up. Would love to take advantage of the sale that's going on right now, or even pay the $40 for all the sounds (which is way overpriced IMHO).

Perfect for church...except.... I use this app, along with Garage Band live for Church music. I only have two complaints which would make it a 5-star app. 1. This is the biggest...PLEASE add 3/4 timing! This is as important in Gospel music as 4/4... I'm not able to lay tracks for those songs due to lack of support. 2. I know that it can play in the background, but MIDI still recognizes it when I'm in GB. Is it that a channel always gets picked up and plays? Like when in GB playing I hear the drums of ST triggered by MIDI. I just want the audio of the click track in SampleTank to play, but I want MIDI to point to the sounds of Garage Band...how is this achieved?

Great. I love the samples in here. I just wish there was a way to disable the sampled loops getting triggered when hitting the keys lower on the keyboard. I use another app to trigger this app through midi and it keeps getting triggered. :(

Not impressed!. I took a chance on SampleTank, and ended up also buying the app's "full sound pack" for $20, which, it turns out, isn't the full sound pack at all. To have all the nicest sounds, one could easily spend over $100. As it stands now, of the sound pack I did purchase, there are fewer than 20 that are worth even playing. And the string/orchestra sounds (without spending an extra $54) are mostly quite terrible, with the exception of the harp, which is quite pretty. Not an app I'm pleased with in the slightest. First time I've spent this much on a iOS sound source app that I found really very weak.

Working again. 5 stars are back, new update fixed pending issues. Just wished they would have announced an update was coming, did not see enough feedback in the reviews . Thought my pad was the problem. Thanks for the repair.

5 star perfection. I have used Sampletank on my computer system for years and finally downloaded this app as I am making the transition to the ipad thanks to Audiobus (a game changer). Wow IK. Thanks. This is now my go to for music creation on the ipad. The sounds are amazing and I quickly purchased all in app sound packs. This app is always open on my ipad. I use the in app keyboard and pads as well as an external controller. Just bought iRig midi and will soon try my midi guitar with the app!

Can not use this app live. I've been messing around with this app for a few weeks now. I'm using it on my iPad 3 paired with my Synthstation 49 controller and every time I use the reverb or release knobs in the app, the instrument distorts horribly; to the point where it literally sounds like I put the delay setting on 100 (that annoying, metallic spring sound that hurts your ears and doesn't stop until you turn everything off). I really don't understand what's causing this, but please fix it! It is one of my favorite apps to use for performing and recording, but I can not use it at all if its going to distort like this. I even talked to customer service for a good 2-3 weeks and I still can't figure this out. :/ Please fix this! Thank you

Major Bug Issues. Please fix the issue with sampletank compatibility with audiobus & cubasis with external midi keyboards. i would love to give this product 5stars because i like the UI and i love the sound quality. but the annoying situation with sampletank sustaining notes make it virtually impossible to create ..i was told by you guys many months ago that the update with the fix for this was coming soon ..where is it PLEASE

Ads in Paid Version...Get Real. Bought an iRig 2 from you guys. Bought your amp and vocal packages too. Just dropped 60 dollars buying SampleTank and all the sound packs. Imagine my surprise when you have the balls to put huge pop up ads in my workspace trying to get me to buy more. Have some respect for paying customers. This isn't a free program. 60 bucks and you hit us with ads to buy more? That's disrespectful to those of us who choose to buy from you rather than use the free version. My three stars would have been five, but no, not with ads.

Please wait! SampleTank app comments loading...
