Great magazine great app. First let me say I also get the paper edition of the magazine delivered to my house and I use the app as a companion for that. But I love it. I look forward to it coming each month, although it is always a few months behind I suppose because it comes from England. Anyway I think the magazine is extraordinary. You could study each one for months or maybe years. Also, unlike the previous reviewers, I have never had problem with the backing tracks or the sound.

Best guitar mag ever. Whenever I head to my local bookstore and check out the new issues of all the guitar magazines they're all 90% fluff and 10% actual content. This magazine is the exact opposite. There are so many amazing lessons in every issue. From theory to fully tabbed songs to practice licks and phrases. I love the playable tab and videos that are incorporated in the issues now. Also the price point is much more friendly through newsstand. It's a win all around. If you love playing the guitar do yourself a favor and pick it up. The one criticism I have is purely selfish on my part. I'm still a beginner and it does feel like the magazine is generally geared more towards advanced lessons. I'd like a touch more material for people starting out.

If You Are Serious!. I just discovered this magazine. I am so impressed. If you are a guitarist at any level, this will make you better, if you practice. The videos, the jam tracks, the analysis and the fun you will have makes it a must have for all guitarists!

Fix the app. I can't even open my downloads. My advice is don't get it. Huge disappointment. Great mag, lousy app.

Raised the bar. After 45 years of playing I've become bored with 99% of the "educational" material available, finding most to be "quick buck" rehashes of stuff that's been repeatedly cloned (and if that sounded redundant- it was supposed to). Guitar Techniques, however, seems to find a fresh twist in almost everything they present. A bonus is rather than dumping endless repetitions of licks on us, their material has a point to it and a focus - but without being limited to a single style. Well worth the very reasonable price, even to us "old dogs" who think we've been buried under every possible page of tab that could possibly ever be published! Highly recommended!

Awesome publication. I remember the first time reading this magazine at the Borders magazine rack - and picking up my only print copy for $15! Now on the iPad for $40 a year? There is so much guitar lesson content in each issue. I am a professional guitarist and teacher, and it takes me a while to get through most of an issue. It's a great difficulty level for the more advanced student wanting to get a very broad skill-set and familiarity with the instrument. I would enjoy if the slight blues/rock default tendency were toned down a bit and more acoustic and different world styles were brought in more often. But each magazine issue leaves you more satisfied than 90% of the guitar "books" that are out there. And big props for including the left hand fingering on most of the standard notation. Would be better if they included position markings as well, for those trying to wean themselves off of tab. That fifth star would be if they add in a more interactive music player, with slow-down capability, and the ability to zoom in on the tab when in the player.

Good Material, Poor Delivery. There's a lot to like about this app, and a lot of great material, but the backing tracks don't work at all, and the tempo of the full performance tracks modified, which makes learning the riffs more difficult. Giving the user the ability to slow down the tracks would seem like a no-brainer for an app and magazine designed to teach techniques. Hopefully they'll update it at some point. But the failure of the backing tracks to load is a real problem they need to fix right away

Terrible on a small screen. It's just a screenshot of every page of the paper magazine, so very hard to use on the small screen of my iPhone. Constantly zooming and scrolling is not really a good user experience. Glad I just got some free issues first to try out and didn't pay for it.

great mag great app. I am a pro player and I always find a ton of stuff that is either new or has a different perspective and something that I already knew and also great exercises.

You just made this app GREAT!!!. At long last, you get all the benefits of the regular mag! I love that you can finally get an audio clip for the tab. I will renew my subscription for this.

Much Love!. This is the best technical guitar magazine in the world. So glad it's digitalized. I would love to see the rest of the back issues with audio someday, but I have a lot of technique to learn from the ones that do, so I am doing just fine.

Fantastic. All the audio and video worked perfect, a real pleasure. Though offline none of this works, that is to be expected given the limited memory of these devices. A feature I would really like to see is the ability to save a particular backing track into the music folder, for easy reference. This is probably the only disadvantage over the hardcopy version with CD.

Great Look, no audio...... This magazine looks great on iPad, but it is hard to try to use the magazine to learn from because the audio is not available for the examples. The hard copy magazine has a CD included to play along with. Change this and it's definitely a 5 star app!

Good for all levels. I am an intermediate player and I have a fairly good understanding of Music Theory. I know those words scare a lot of beginning and advanced guitarist. But the way the theory is presented in Guitar Techniques is painless. Little bits at a time, at your own speed. I Think that anyone wanting to learn some music theory along side the TAB method that this is a great "Text Book" for that.

No help. I cannot get help

Love it's. It's awesome, just a small complaint....either make the cover larger or list the content more completely. I hadn't picked up last month yet until I saw at the newsstand Robben Ford and John Squire were both inside. I bought the digital issue immediately after I got home...

Not free, not good. Not only is it not free, it is just a PDF style version of the magazine. Go take a look at GUITARIST, and others that have designed interactive mags that utilize the power of the iOS-- video reviews, lessons, etc. With this trash, you would still have to buy the print version to get the actual lessons, demos, etc. Take this off the shelf until you are actually giving us an electronic mag. GT itself is awesome-- let's get an equally good, interactive version, and I will be the first to subscribe!

Great Mag!. Great info and very well presented lessons and ideas. For the monthly price, worth every penny.

Great instruction. Been playing for 30 plus years and still find something to take with me from every issue...love the iPad version! only is that I could download audio and keep it as an audio file away from wifi!

Awesome magazine. The British know how to do magazines. Guitar Techniques is well written, contains lots of informative lessons, and the videos bring it all together. I'm glad it's on News Stand because it's much cheaper and easier to get to here on my iPad.

Good, but needs more. GT is by far the best guitar magazine out there (IMHO), but offering this edition without audio and without a chance for print subscribers (like me) to get it without cost (or with minimal cost) strikes me as very odd indeed. I hear that improvements are on the way, so I will keep watching.

Great content; So-so app. I'm a huge fan of the content available on this app, but the program itself is nothing special. The interface is about like any other mediocre magazine app, but the content makes using it worth the effort.

Wow!. A while back I wrote: "Is there any way to include sound files? That would be awesome!" Well, I now feel the best just got better! I just downloaded the latest issue complete with sound files! I now purchased a subscription. What a great magazine. Side note: I am really enjoying the Joe Pass feature. Thanks for including jazz! Great job all around. Thanks so much!

Let Down. I am glad I bought a single issue and not a complete subscription. All of the chords and riffs reference a cd where one can listen to the bit. This is a digital magazine; I should be able to click play and hear it right on my iPad. Kind of pointless really.

GREAT!!. This magazine was already very good in paper, but with this app GT is the closest thing to having a bunch of personal guitar tutors...and way cheaper!!

Guitar Techniques Forever. There is no better monthly magazine for enthusiasts. No other publisher provides the consistency and quality of content as GT.

Love it. Great app except it crashes a bit and has to be reopened. Like the interactive capabilities and varied lessons . Great app to have

Great app with interactive features, excellent resource!. Previously had left a less than favorable review when having problems with the app on my iPad, several emails from support helped identify a problem and I'm happy to say the app has been working flawlessly for several months with all features. Quality of the lessons and artists featured monthly make this my favorite learning tool & well worth the cost. *Tip* if you see the promotion to buy all back issues, do it! Tons of lessons to choose from, and as a classic rock, blues, and southern rock enthusiast with interests in other styles I can say everything is well represented here. Guitar Techniques is the best guitar lesson magazine available IMO, and having it on my iPad and iPhone to take anywhere? Priceless!

Great digital mag.. This is a great magazine and the digital version makes it a lot more affordable. I like how they have added audio. It would be cool if you could download the tracks though.

GT is the best Guitar Mag!. Guitar Techniques is the best instructional magazine published in English. (Young Guitar Japan is also great, but obviously is in Japanese). In the US, Guitar Player is mostly fluff, and Guitar World thinks so poorly of its audience that it doesn't even print music above TAB. GT is loaded with licks, lessons, and full songs from cover to cover. The app provides playback and occasional video for each example. Its an amazing learning tool! I would love to see a desktop OS X version of the app - so we can read it on the big screen :)

Great Publication Print and Digital. Recently started reading the print version and was thrilled to learn about the digital version with some cool audio and video features. They have made upgrades and appear to listen to readers needs. Pretty cool overall.

Unreadable previews. Check out the Cooking Light app, now! While not perfect, there one thing that sets this app millions of miles above the rest. FULL PAGE SAMPLES!!! Because it doesn't have the micro-view offered by Zino and other Newsstand apps you can actually SEE what an issue offers. You almost want to buy every issue, matter of fact I'm getting a subscription! Imagine-FX, Guitar Techniques, Official Xbox Magazine, Zino and Future Publishing, pay attention and see how it's done right. Bravo Cookling Light Magazine! Who would think to take a great magazine like Guitar Techniques and put it in an app that is unreadable? The blurry cover and Table Of Contents offers no temptation to purchase the magazine or get subscriptions. So you are left with searching for the issue online in hopes of finds a clear description of what is being offered that month. Too much work! Low tech app for a high tech mag. What a shame!

Great content. Really enjoy my subscription that I've had for a year. Only feature that I would enjoy more is having the ability to mix jamup pro or other iOS guitar effect processor in with backing track in magazine.

Amazing. Best guitar magazine I've seen around. They have a lot of content and tabs for how to actually improve and learn guitar rather than just telling you to play cliche jazz licks til your brain turns to mush. Keep up the great work

Latest update doesn't work. App freezes. This is on the 8.4.1 iOS iPad gen 4. I've used the app for over a year. Removing the app, restarting, and reinstall seemed to solve the problem

app hangs and no longer can access old magazines. App hangs since IOS 11. Can’t read any magazines nor download new ones.

Great mag, but. Keeps crashing under iOS 14

Audio issues. Would be outstanding 5 stars but no sound during any video playback? Anyone else having same prob?

Digital user. Getting used to digital edition. 98% great. When playing examples, the pause button at bottom disappears until you tap it again. Wastes time in replaying to learn phrases. Can you fix this? Also would love a slowdown feature in updates to the app. Otherwise, I'm so impressed by what you generate each month!

I love the audio and video features. Guitar Techniques is a great monthly online subscription, I find myself reading from cover to cover and playing along with the song transcriptions backups and lessons with audio and videos. The ability to resize the screen while concentrating on a part or to hear the part played with full backing track is invaluable to me for keeping up my playing chops and learning new techniques. I had been buying the newsstand magazine until I discovered the iPad version, now that I subscribe to the online version I can keep a large amount of the magazines on my iPad or archive my collection and call them back up when I need to look at them again. I save space when I am on airplane trips across country as I can use my iPad for an amp and play along with the magazine through headphones wherever I am.

Great Instruction Tool. I'm a digital user, god knows I carry enough paper and other stuff into work every day. This magazine helps bridge a gap in my learning and changing in a positive way. Good articles and instruction techniques.

Good mag, horrible app. I am sooo tried of trying to download an issue, it hangs, then I have to go though all of the trouble of deleting the app, turning off the app, reinstalling to get to it, and even then it sometimes hangs. Just not worth the trouble after a while.

Content is great. App is horrible. App always requires internet, even with download Ed content and is very slow and full of ads.

Fantastic App. 5 stars all the way!! Killer content, love that the sound bites and jam tracks are built into the articles. Great job!!

Great Teachings. I really like the way they teach you how to play, not just tones. it is a great magazine to learn from.

Freezes and crashes when turning pages.. I love this magazine and the fact that there's audio built into the digital edition is great. However, every time I go to turn a page, the magazine freezes mid turn and then crashes. It's really annoying and I won't subscribe until this issue is fixed.

The best no BS straight down to business Guitar Techniques. I’ve purchased all guitar mags and even though we all look at the ads most of them are beefed up ads with no real content. This mag is the best one out there I know of. Every issue is packed with loads of guitar riffs and techniques. I’d have to say this is the best guitar mag for any guitar player.

Best way to take lessons, best guitar mag. This is the best guitar mag omg I can't believe I only have to pay 5$ a month...less! then that, a copy of this magazine goes for about 20$ on here a copy is only 3.99 bottom-line 5/5 stars

App does not work if you purchased digital through any other vendor. Garbage. Bought a digital download through Zinio. The zinio reader will not play audio examples. Even though I subscribe to this magazine, I can’t use the zinio subscription on this app. Will never be able to utilize audio examples. Bitter disappointment. Avoid this app and this company.

The BEST guitar magazine.. The best guitar magazine in the world, is made much more convenient and easier to read and access all audio and video files by this app. I just love it, and truly use it daily to learn, get inspired, and motivate myself to practice.

magazine great, App annoying. The magazine is great, but that you have to download you purchases every time you update the app is super annoying.

Great value. I was a subscriber to the magazine before the app and love having it delivered every month, now with the app I have all the issues stored here online. Such great value with all access and a lifetime of awesome information this is a must have for any guitarist at any level of any style. And trust me after subscribing you will be a guitarist of every style anyway, this app keeps me busy every weekend.

Great mag. Needs access to extra content. I guess it’s priced reasonably given you don’t have access to audio content that accompany the licks, techniques etc. would gladly pay extra if that content was available, it’s what makes the magazine a great learning tool.

It’s a great app only a few improves. Guitar Pro .gpx files needed to download. And the backing tracks to be able to be downloaded all separately. Don’t fear people sharing they can’t share it all. It’s useful for us who play and pay and it’s creates buzz so we say get the magazine it’s great they give you in mag like you do now and they also give you gpx files with all their good tab and backing tracks are awesome. Just an extra few nuggets. You do a great job. Keep it up. Bravo 👏🏻

Broken. I am a paid subscriber and i updated to the latest version. My subscription has been lost. Ive written to ask for help and was ignored. The current issue, i do not have, as Ive paid for it, but cant access it. Even if they do fix it, one day, their service s abyssmal.

Great magazine. Great iPad magazine. The guys are really working at getting the electronic version on parr or better than the physical one. Maybe give us the option to download audio and video for offline use? Keep the updates coming.

Buggy app - crashes when opening old editions. As above. I've unsubscribed because of how many times it's crashed. Tried again with the latest version and nothing's changed. Content is good, however.

Missing the point. With the print edition, you get a CD full of backing tracks and other additional content. It's this additional content that makes the magazine such a useful learning tool. Unfortunately, it's missing from the app. Until they work it out, forget about it.

Awesome. Such a great mag. Love and learn so much from it. Huge fan

Mr C. This is an amazing magazine. I pay 3 times the amount for the paper version and the cd but this format is so much simpler and as easily accessible. You can read and listen to it anywhere you are (so portable). With the links included everything is so easy to view.

Some Good, Some Not So Good. Without access to CD content, I wouldnt bother. Also, they need to review the classical/country stuff, seriously Debussy? I know it is an attempt to broaden appeal, but perhaps. digital readers should be able to vote on the magazine sections. Just a thought.

Best guitar magazine. The best magazine. Definitely subscribe to it. 10/10 Great articles and you will learn a lot From the magazine. Great teachers. Subscription price worth every cent.

Great ideas and content.. One of my fav mags and especially awesome on iPad.

Much better than in print. Wish this was in this format 10 years ago but eh it didn't exist. Good work

I respect this publication. I really enjoy the writing; the articles are well-written, focused, and relevant. The lessons - what this mag is ALL about - run through all difficulty levels, and always push my competency level. I look forward to each new edition. I hope that Future stays on the cutting edge with tablet mags. I would like to "see" the backing tracks and example sounds on their originating pages, and not have to flip to a new screen to control them (especially the small examples.). I can see a full page display of a piece of music as appropriate, with a moving placeholder, but the tiny, one-liners... not so much. Keep up the good work!

Great magazine on IPad. This is by far the best guitar magazine app.

It's awesome. This is a great magezine

Great Magazine!. I wish I could have some links to replace the CDs...

Guitar Techniques Mag. I've been receiving this excellent magazine via post for quite some time and have recently tried it digitally on my iPAD! My understanding is that the only problem with doing it digitally is that you won't get your hands on the excellent CD's that are included with post deliveries. This Mag does what it promises, there is a real variety of Music Styles, also at varying degrees of ability for the reader, there is also even enough to keep the Seasoned Pro Musician challenged throughout this Masterpiece Educational Magazine. The Slogan they use "WE'LL MAKE YOU A BETTER PLAYER", it really shows that these guys mean what they say! I love this Mag and highly recommend it for all players...

Horrible customer support. Barely half of the "enhanced" issues' sound files actually work. Wrote to customer support several times and have not heard anything back. Garbage!

Best Guitar Magazine 👍. Guitar Techniques is full of guitar tuition. Just about every lick or song has a link to see the music and hear how it should be played so learning is very easy. Now GT has video for some lessons as well. The magazine is mostly articles and lots of licks and songs for everyone from beginner to advanced. I have tried them all and the only one I continue to have a subscription for is Guitar Techniques. If you want to keep learning new licks and songs month after month then you should subscribe to this magazine. Update: Guitar Techniques just raised their subscription price and it is still worth every penny.

.. The best magazine!! 👍

Audio clips. Hi, Great magazine. Digital edition would really benefit from supporting audio clips. 5 stars with sound. 3 stars without. Please. Thanks.

Not showing my purchases. Downloaded the app and went ahead and purchased all back issues for $24.99 which is a great deal. Problem is non of the issues show up as purchased, I love the magazine but the app not so much.

No sound. Be like Guitarist. They include sound. Very hard to follow lessons without sound

Fantastic App. This is a fantastic app that motivates you to practice learn new skills and assist any guitar player in evolution.

Needs CD material. This is a great magazine in the print form. The e-version would be a 5 star magazine IF the publisher would embed the lesson material contained in the print version.

False info. Got the app thinking i could download for free because of my current magazine subscription, as they tend to make u believe when u get it. Instead they Answered me (in a very polite way, btw): To be clear: if you purchased the subscription on the magazine website, rather than from within the app, it won't work. So, to be clear: shame on you, developers!! Waste of time!!!

Thbtttt!. The tracks don't play. The track animation moves but no sound comes out! What a dud!

gt techniques. in theory a good idea but reading the tabs is hard .

Love it!. Really enjoying my purchase!

Not free. Nothing to see here folks!

Great App. Great Mag and App!

THEY OWE ME!!!. I purchased this app quite some time ago and had many problems after an upgrade had been released. I lost all of my magazines and had really been given the runaround while trying to get the situation resolved. The App Store was pointing the finger at Future Folio and Future Folio was pointing back. It was made clear to me, that even though they could verify that I had purchased a subscription and purchased ALL of the back issues, there was nothing that they could do for me. There was a known problem with the magazine and they had no fix for it. When I asked about a refund I was told to read their policy on refunds for electronic media. I was originally using an iPhone 4. I purchased an iPad and was able to download the magazines on that. Eventually, an update was released that worked for my iPhone. This took months. I currently have all of the mags except for one issue. The App Store has confirmed that I purchased it, but they say that there is no way that they can allow me to download it unless I pay for it again. The capability to do this does not exist. All this being said, the content is great. I have always liked this publication. The problem that I have is with the support that is not provided. It's hard to believe that Apple and Future Folio expect their customers to accept this. More than discourage any potential customers of theirs, I would like to see them correct this problem and deliver to me, what I paid for. If you purchase this product, good luck!

GT. This is the best publication for serious guitar players by far.

Great content app is buggy/glitchy. Been a fan of GT for years. But seriously, this app freezes when teaching my students.pretty please fix this…it’s been that way for as long as I can remember ,even my students mention it… otherwise top notch content.

Hands down, the best!. Guitar Techniques magazine has long been my favorite music publication. Having the digital version available is a real money saver too, especially for us here in North America. I love the print edition and always pick up a copy when I can find it, but even when I do, it's expensive. For the cost of just two print editions here in the USA, you can obtain a whole years digital subscription! Finally, I love having a music periodical that's about playing music and playing guitar, and not just another 80-100 page commercial for equipment. Keep up the great work Mates!

Awesome app. This app is awesome!

Upgrades to iPhone 5S; can restore purchases. Getting the error "This is not a Test User account" and and asked to "create a new account in the Sandbox environment". I've tried deleting the app and rebooting the phone - nothing works. Please fix.

Ratings. Asked me to rate the app and when I gave it 1 Star it opened my email instead of saving the ranking to the App Store.

Clumsy, cheats the rating system. The app is slow, cumbersome to use, and tries to cheat the rating system by showing a fake rating screen inside the app.
