App changed. I’ve had this app for 7 years now—it’s pretty good but finicky with juggling music controls since it doesn’t perform as well in the background. It’s perfect if I use my headset to change songs. Forces you to have your phone *off* silent (isn’t able to override system switch settings). Week five jumps an insane amount but matches the official progression. I’ve never been able to do it without repeating week four at least one entire time, usually two. So why the two star rating after years of enjoyment and use? Because the app is no longer allowing me to use all 8 weeks. Either I paid for it years ago but it doesn’t care since the update or it used to be free and now it’s not. Either way, this app isn’t worth the $8 price tag when others exist for $3 with the same options. It’s frustrating to open an app I’ve used for years to have it start prompting me every time to activate “premium” only to find out it dead ends during week 2.

Great App, but missing Apple Watch Support. This is a great app, but he need to keep my phone screen on while running (when I lock the phone, the app stops giving voice prompts) and lack of an Apple Watch App are frustrating. Having said that, the app itself is great. I used to run pretty regularly, but had a long break due to an injury. I tried to to start running again several times, but re-injured myself each time. This app focuses on how long to run as opposed to how far and prompting me when to start and stop. That is working exceptionally well for me. Previously I would target running a certain distance but would constantly have to fight to urge to speed up when nearing the end of a distance (where all of my re-injuries occurred) and I would often break into a more aggressive run despite knowing better. The interface is clear, easy to read and easy to use. The running plan has been perfect for me so far (I’m about 3/4 of the way through) and I would recommend the app anyone trying to get in shape for a 5K run or just wanting to run better. I just wish it had an Apple Watch App so I wouldn’t have to lug my phone around with me on the runs or could at least put it in shoulder or chest phone-holder rather than having to carry it in my hand.

Covid side effects to 10k. This app is incredible and was the backbone of my running journey in the last year. Last May i was struck with covid and was down terrible. After i recovered i could barely walk up my stairs without being winded. I decided to start running and used this app. I was at rock bottom with endurance. I used this app everyday for my runs for an entire year and eventually got to the 10k program. Ran a 10k last month. Highly recommend. Only complaint is i think they expect you to progress faster than reality. Do not be afraid to do runs again. I was stuck on week 4 for about 3 weeks. I did not start week 5 until i felt like i was ready to. Take your time and you will be running in no time.

I can’t believe I’m a runner now!. I never write reviews. But felt the need to here. I am a 54 year old male. Hated the thought of running. Thought it was for the young, skinny types. While I had been walking, the thought of picking up the pace and running was the furthest from my mind. Then I hit 240 pounds and hated myself. I had tried this app in the past, but through a combination of apathy and low self esteem, I never made it. But something clicked one day, and I thought I’d give it another shot and see if I could make it all the way and run a 5k. I started in November of last year and found myself impressed with the simple and easy progression of the app. No pressure to kill yourself just get up, commit to a half hour or so and before you know it, you’re done. Then I started to see the pounds drop. Then I started to create playlists on my phone. Then I started buying gear. Then I signed up for a 5k. Then I actually RAN the 5k. I didn’t stop, I didn’t walk. I RAN a 5k! I didn’t come in last, but came in in the middle of the pack in my age group. I came home and signed up for another 5k. And another. I am collecting shirts, medals and realizing…holy crap. I’m a runner. This app got me there. No question. And now I’m training for a 10k. With a half marathon next and hopefully a marathon by this time next year. Try it. Stick with it. You might become a runner too.

10/10 I highly recommend. Before this app, I would always give up on running because I wouldn’t make progress. I’m on the sixth week and this app is amazing. It’s very simple, nothing gucci but it is the only thing that has ever motivated me to run and to stay consistent on it. I see progress, and I’m excited to run every time. Running is not easy, but knowing that it is doable for me motivates me to give it my all. I wouldn’t last more than a minute running before this app but now I’m on 10 minutes straight without stopping. Don’t cheat yourself!! 🔥💪 (I also recommend Strava. I use both apps at the same time. Strava just to record my miles and keep a log.)

You bring the confidence, this app does the rest!. In the span of four months, I’ve gone from almost running through a 2 or 3 minute song to running a 5k two or three times a week! I’ve used plenty of running apps in the past, but this particular app spaces out your running so that, even if you don’t feel 100% ready to move to the next day, it’s just enough to push yourself without going too far. The increments that increase each day make it feel like you are progressing every time without going overboard. The one suggestion I would make would be that when I decide to run with my wife (who has also improved in her running) and use a previous day, it does eliminate the check marks used to mark your progression, as well as getting rid of any “customized runs” that had been generated. Overall, the perfect app to change your life.

Great program for beginner runners!. I haven’t exercised regularly in years and I’ve never been a runner, but the Couch to 5K app has changed me. I’ve been running 3x a week for the last 3 weeks using the app and I’m running farther and faster already. This app will help increase your stamina and overall fitness if you follow the program. I really love the voice prompts that let you know when you’re halfway or give encouragement when you’re almost done. My favorite thing the app did was remind you at the beginning of the first couple runs to take it easy. That was such a helpful reminder to prevent injuring myself by pushing too hard. Overall I would recommend this app to any of my friends that are moderately active and want to start running.

Unclear that it’s a SUBSCRIPTION. I’m not a fan of the subscription model for apps, in fact this was my only subscription when I just checked. I don’t remember it being a subscription, and of course there is no reminder until it shows up on your bill. Reading other reviews I can surmise that we must have gotten to the two-week point and then we were required to pony up. I only downloaded the app because it’s the one my partner chose, there are tons of 5k apps out there to choose from that don’t require a subscription. Apparently there’s a “lifetime” option that has its own caveats, buyer beware (and be sure to check out other reviews addressing this point). Does this app work? For me, it was couch to 3.22k, so that’s something. I didn’t even know I still had this app though, I paused running for the hottest part of summer and when I resumed it was with trail running and having no recollection of or need for this app. I give it two stars though because I did get to 3.22k after all.

Horrible glitch/lag.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this app, I finished it all the way to 5k and repeated the 5k guide to keep building resistance. After that I lightly sprained my ankle and had to stop for about 2 weeks, when I started again from halfway the updated had kicked in and added optimized runs while also changing some of the walk/run ratios. I personally didn’t like this, I preferred the set schedule. I ran 3 times a week and it lined up perfectly with the app and now my days are all out of order. Not a huge deal but not my personal preference either. UPDATED REVIEW: After completing the 5k again I began repeating week 8 day 3 over and over every other day. Today it’s the second time that the app crashes horribly and I can’t use it. It’s very upsetting because I really do like the guidance of this app and I purchased the lifetime version so I should be able to use it as many times as possible. Some mornings it’s already hard for me to motivate myself to go out and run and it really makes it worse when I do get myself out there and the app isn’t working.

Really does work. I just completed week 8, day 3 and now I’m officially a 5k runner. This app got me from the couch to 5k in 8 weeks. Is it easy? No... you have to push yourself and stick to it. But it does work. I still remember me feeling like I was about to die when I got to the 5 min runs. I just did 3.2 miles in 35 mins (a 5k is like 3.1 miles). One hint of advice. Most of the time, your body can handle the work, your mind just have to get out of the way. There were times I wanted to stop but I stayed focus and completed it. My first 5k is two weeks away. I’m ready Update: I have completed this, ran a few 5ks and moved on to the 10K app and ran my first 10K last year. You put the time and it does work.

Ok. But poor integration with apple health & workouts. The app is generally ok for getting you running again. For the price it is very basic - It lets itself down with poor apple integration. • Heart rate is only sporadically monitored, which is probably why the app is unable to graph. If after immediately finishing a run you turn on a workout in IOS, the heart rate monitoring in the watch shows quadruple the number of measurement's. The lack of measurements in 5K means that calorie data is off. • The warmup and warmdown time are not measured at all. And no credit is given for that time in activity under workouts. The route tracking as advertised does not show on the iPhone app, nor anywhere else for that matter. The map screenshot should be removed from the App Store advertising.

Got me (mostly) to 5k. Pretty good app. I appreciate that it is hands-free and that I can listen to the coaching through my AirPods. Although, there isn’t really much coaching after the first couple of runs. After the first couple of runs, the “coach” basically just tells you when to run and walk. On the whole, I think that some more coaching would be beneficial. Especially regarding running form, mental toughness, etc. I think reminders to check running form would be greatly helpful to prevent injuries for new runners. The workout always starts and ends with a 5 minute warm up walk and cool down walk. Unfortunately, they include this distance at the end of your work out where it tells you how far you went. So, on my last run, it read that I had run 3.22 miles in 35 minutes. But that included warmup/cool down time. In reality, i went a TOTAL of 3.22 miles in 45 minutes, but ran 2.75 miles in 35 minutes. I worked an extra week on my own beyond the program to get up to actually running the full 3.1. I’m now at 3.1 in 37 minutes. All in all, it is definitely worth the price of 10 dollars and I did achieve my goal of running 5k. Now I can move my focus to improving speed 😊 hope this helps someone!

Bad runner, but love this app. To start, I am not a runner in the least. I have the physique of a runner, but zero lung or stamina capacity. This app has helped me with both as it is a run / walk internals app that starts at REALLY easy levels and allows a gradual increase. You can run up to three times a week or more if you want to hit your 5K goal faster. I love the way it signals you to start running or walking, let’s you know when you’re half way to turn around, and tells you when you’re in cool down stage. I also love the metrics it shows at the end with your route and calories burned. The app also allows you to rate each run so it can customize your next run based off of rating.

Disappointed after buying premium. This app is missing a pace and doesn't tell the distance as you are running, which I would find helpful and motivating. Also, I'm searching for extra features during my cool down I accidentally ended my workout by forwarding to the next segment. My time skipped and did not adjust so it appears on my log that I finished the same distance in a greater amount of time, when it was actually a less amount of time. My time and distance are important to me during training. There is no way to edit the logs to adjust for this mistake. I am deeply disappointed in the $10 spent. Also.... there are no analytics besides the history log, it would be nice for paying members to see some type of basic progression chart at the very minimum. However the training program itself is manageable and the prompts are nice so I gave it an "extra" star for this.

Extremely good. This app is great and really effective. The app (which is gorgeous) includes a program that combines walking and running and it increases the running on every workout. This worked great for me and it's how I got into running (40+ years young). The audio coach comes through the headphones and tells you when it's time to walk or run, so that you don't really have to do anything except listen and do what he says. I also love the motivational coaching that goes with it. The progress is just right, and really sets you up to making it to the end. I also enjoy their motivation thoughts on each workout and the great guidance through the app. All in all - a great great great app. Update - started running again after quitting for a year and the app still did its magic. Got me back into shape fairly easily. Actualdly it took me less than 4 weeks to do it instead of their advertized 8 weeks, but I think that this is because of muscle memory (and maybe a little bit of self belief which made me skip ahead whenever it felt right). it worked great the first time, and now but now my body was able to get back into it even easier. Happy this app is doing its magic again, and it’s time to continue to 10k!

Most Expensive App I Own. I’ve owed the app for a week, the duration of the free trial. I completed the questionnaire, and it started me on week two, no problem. After the first run, I thought about switching apps, but decided to continue using it because it had already tracked my first three runs, and I wanted to keep the data organized - I went ahead and let it charge me for three months. This morning, I was ready for run four, which is week 3 run 1, in my case. I thought I had started the correct run, but it seemed too easy when I was half way done. I couldn’t find a way to verify I was on the correct run, so I finished the run. Well, it was week 2 run 1 again. It had shifted all my previous runs to week 1, even though they were week 2 runs. Ugh. This is behavior I would expect from a free app, not the most expensive app I own. I’m definitely cancelling after three months - which I won’t need the app anymore anyway.

Absolutely Perfect. I’m in love with this app. I am a couch potato by nature who used to hate running with a PASSION. While I’m not overweight, I am definitely ‘under-fit’ and my endurance is quite pathetic. I am taking a health class that requires the students to come up with and implement their own fitness plan. In the pursuit of creating a workable fitness plan, I begrudgingly downloaded this app, knowing I needed to run but strongly disliking the idea. I did the first run and was amazed to find that I didn’t feel like I was going to throw up or die after it was done. I continued to run with the app, and gradually began to hate it less and less. (I might even be enjoying it *gasp*) Each new combination of running and walking is challenging yet balanced, and I’m finally starting to see results from running, unlike every other attempt I’ve made. I paid the $9.99 for full access to the whole app and so far it has been extremely worth it. I love the simplicity and workability of the app. I can usually find my way around an app fairly easily but it’s lovely to not have to guess or scratch my head trying to find what I’m looking for. 11 of 10 stars!

Program is terrible but the app works fine. They gave up on having a program for actual beginners to instead have a program that they can claim can be done in eight weeks. Sure, if you say a workout was hard they will optimize your next one. And by optimize your next one I mean that they will just make you redo the one that you just said was too hard. The leaps that they expect you to make are pretty ridiculous if you’re actually a beginner and new to running or especially if you’re new to fitness all together. Day one was too hard for me and their response was for me to just keep trying to do it and hope that I get better. And to clarify, I believe, day one has you running for a total of six minutes and doing so in sixty second intervals. For someone who hadn’t run at all, that was impossible. And the way it’s structured, I just ran some and then walked and had no real way to measure if I was getting any better.

Awesome app. I've finally mustered up enough motivation and determination to start working out again. I haven't ran in over 2+ years. I used to go to the gym regularly (2-4 x's a week depending on my work schedule) and lift/cardio. Needless to say, I'm very out of shape for not working out in such a long time. I've downloaded this app previously and really loved it. I decided to download it again and I'm really glad I did. I just completed 3 days in a row. This program really eases me into running again. I love that I can listen to music without switching back and forth and that it not only beeps but it also lets you know whether to run or walk. I don't ever buy apps but I honestly might buy the lifetime $10 just because this is my third time downloading it and I keep stopping after the free trial.

I’m becoming a “Runner”!. I’ve always wanted to work on my stamina and become more athletic, but every time I tried running, I’d quickly run out of breath and feel like I was dying, and I think it was because I didn’t know what I was doing and would go from no activity to suddenly running! Well this app is difference it paces me perfectly and reminds me that its not a race, I need to keep a steady pace to go longer distances. I covered 2 MILES, MILES! Before, I would quit after 30 seconds of running because I “couldn’t do it”, but this somehow keeps me motivated for 30 MINUTES! I actually feel like soon enough I’ll be able to say I’m a runner!

Literal couch to 5k. I haven’t finished yet but I’m on schedule and only one week away. I seriously thought my body just couldn’t run. I assumed some people had “runners” bodies and some just didn’t, like me. When I started the first day I could hardly run a minute… here I am running 15-20 minutes without stopping and it feels GREAT! I’ve fallen in love with running. It’s such a wonderful release, me time, and great energy to start off the day. I already signed up for my first 5k and have running shoes on my Xmas list this year. I stayed exactly with the program, being honest with myself when a run was too difficult. The program would optimize my schedule and have me repeat a difficult run until I got there. Don’t feel discouraged repeating runs, no one program could ever work for every person. But you will get there!

Success. I had long thought I would never be able to run more then about a mile without re-triggering old debilitating knee, back and Achilles issues. In fact it had probably been close to 10 years that I had run over 1 mile, but with too limited time to go to the gym, with an ever expanding waist, and with two young boys needing me to have more energy, I gave this a shot- and it works. This program really does gradually and almost as painlessly as possible get you from couch shape to running a 5k without much problem whatsoever. It really is shocking. You start out slowly with light intermittent runs mixed with walking periods and gradually build up to fewer walking periods and longer runs, until next thinks you know, your running a 5k straight. The entire training period spanned just under 2 months for me. Each session is about 1/2 hour to 50 minutes with a 5 minute warmup and warm-down period respectively. My only complaint was that I never could figure out when the program would give the distance of the workout, whether that included the running or the running and walking. As a result I was never exactly sure how much time I was actually taking for my runs versus my runs and my walks. However, can't beat how gradually and painlessly the program gets you from couch to 5k!

This app changed my life. I started this app in March 2020. At that point, I couldn’t even run for five minutes straight and I used to hate running. However, after each workout, I felt accomplished, not defeated and I would look forward to the next run. (I think that the fact that this app goes by time and not distance has a lot to do with it because I felt forced to find a pace that was sustainable for me.) I eventually made it to 5k and then started running 5k every other day for a month. Once I felt comfortable, I moved on to the 10K app and now I am working towards a half marathon! This app has given me so much confidence in myself and I have never felt stronger physically or mentally. Accomplishing something that I never thought I would be able to do is life changing and it has improved my mental health tremendously. Running has been a big part of my life now for a year and I look forward to continuing to progress and improve. This app is designed perfectly for those who simultaneously fear running but desire to become runners.

Don’t buy lifetime.... First I will say I loved this app. The pacing is great and I can run a full 5k after doing the program. Sure it’s something you could do yourself without the app but I loved that I could just hit go and concentrate on my running instead of timing myself because I knew the app was going to tell me what to do. Now I paid the lifetime instead it the 3 months. That’s where I get disappointed. Silly me had hopes that paying the lifetime I could use other apps by the same company to continue to improve my running. Well, jokes on me. I downloaded 10k Runner to see and guess what: I could have just downloaded that app in the first place and did the 5k program I paid for FOR FREE before the 10k app made me pay. All in all I don’t regret spending the money on the app because that helped motivate me to keep using it but I wish I would have paid for 3 months instead of lifetime because that gets me nowhere. I don’t use the app anymore because I use a Fitbit and their app to track my runs now because it gives me my pace mile by mile. Which is another disappointment with this app. You have to figure your own pace at the end of your run and that will include your 5 minute warm ups and cool downs. In short: good app? Yes. Just don’t spend more than you need too.

I’ve never been a runner… until now!. I know everyone says this but even when I was young and fit, I hated running. Now I’m in my 30’s and I really needed an accessible form of exercise without all the obstacles of going to the gym. I downloaded this app and started mid week 2 because of the assessment which was probably a bit ambitious. I only have the final week left and I can’t believe the difference. My stamina is already so much better. I’m not winded nearly as easily and I’m able to walk miles and miles without my feet hurting. It’s hard to believe that a few weeks ago the idea of running for 5 minutes straight would have been beyond me, but it’s true. Yesterday I did ran for 20 minutes straight. This app helps me understand that it’s not just about speed, but even just DOING it can set you up for success and help you understand yourself better. Love it!

Needs a lot to work. It’s a good start for new runners, but I found it’s lacking in the eighth week. The app is less about completing a 5K and more about building stamina. It starts with walking-running intervals (good) and ends your 5K journey with a 45 minute nonstop run (bad). At some point during the training, it should make more sense to measure how far you’re running. Which brings me to the next problem… All the bugs and incompatibly issues with Apple (even after going back and forth in emails with support). It almost never measures and records heart rate. It fails to tell the Apple watch that I’m working out so Apple is recording its own data as well as 5K’s so my KCAL and exercise time doubles after a run. Well— Almost doubles. Apple and 5K record different amounts of KCAL (maybe because 5K fails to differentiate between total and activate calories). And as a nitpick, I like leaving my phone at home to run. With just the watch, an accurate map isn’t recorded. Overall, it got me started on my 5K journey and I can recommend it as a timer for new runners. But I won’t be finishing the 5K journey with it.

It got me to start running, but needs some updates. I tried running on and off again for years. This time I decided to use the 5K app. Here’s a list of pros and cons I’ve found so far: Pros - starts off very gently and eases you into running for longer periods of time - voice coach is supportive and helpful in reminding you about posture and being mindful about how you run (how fast, how hard your feet hit the ground, etc) - aural reminders and encouragement go a long way - warm up and cool down time is totally necessary - adjusts your next run based on how you felt about the one you just finished Cons - voice coaching stops after a while and like other reviewers said it would be nice to have a gentle reminder to tell us to be mindful of how we’re running - the time increments increase too rapidly after week 5 or 6, we should be able to control how many more minutes we can run for (I.e. 20 to 25 minutes is far too much of a stretch when I had only been increasing my time for two or three minutes at any other time) this makes it difficult to stick with the program - it focuses on the amount of time you spend running rather than how far you’ve gone. You may have unwittingly ran 5k before you finish week 8 Overall it’s a great app that I’ll keep using, but it is somewhat disappointing to read that you don’t have full access to the 10k app even though you paid for the 5k. As a self professed non-runner before this app, it did a great job getting me into running.

Life changing running journey!. I started using a Couch to 5K app. I stuck with it for 8 weeks, running three times a week. The routine alternated between running one day, taking a break the next, and then running again. This app, combined with a treadmill, made a huge difference for me. It guides you through intervals of running and walking, beginning with a warm-up walk followed by one minute of running and one minute of walking. Over time, it gradually increases your running time. You'll be amazed at your progress! By week 8, I could run for five minutes straight, with a one-minute walk about five times. I'd pop in my AirPods, put on a TV show or some music, and let the app run in the background. It even gives you audio cues for when to run or walk, and throws in encouraging words like "good job". The only downside is that you need to stick to it. I made the mistake of taking about a month off and had to backtrack to week 6. While I was able to complete the 8 week run, I was sore due to jumping back into it too fast. While a treadmill isn't necessary, it helped me avoid pushing myself too hard. Years ago, I tried the same program without one and ended up with shin splints from overexerting myself. On the treadmill, I could control the speed – I'd walk at 2.5 mph and jog at a light, sustainable 4 mph.

Love this app!. If you were looking for a slow start with the eventual goal of running, this is the app for you. Not only does it, baby you a little bit in the beginning with more walking than jogging, but you can tell it at the end of your workout, if it was too hard. If it was too hard, the program will automatically optimize your next run. I have started this app several times and have enjoyed it every time. Only complaint, is that when I play it on my iPad and I’m watching Netflix on the treadmill, when the narrator comes on a tell me to start walking or jogging, her voice is incredibly loud. Otherwise five out of five stars!

I Did It!!. I got this app because I had no idea where to start when it came to getting back in shape. I have tried and tried over the years and I always get discouraged and stop. When I got this app, I honestly expected much the same. I put off eve starting the journey for weeks. But now I’m four weeks in and I am honestly beaming with pride in myself, and I feel nothing but encouraged to keep at it. This app feeds you your runs in a way that feels so manageable and good. I finished day one and I was like “oh wow! I did it!” And every run after that, same thing. I did it! It’s a challenge, but never so hard that I feel discouraged or too out of shape to keep going. Even when the intervals go up, I feel a little nervous before I start but then! Hey! I did it! So seriously, if you feel like you want to get in shape and you have running goals, and you have no idea how to begin climbing that mountain, get this app. Yeah you have to pay for it but I promise it’s worth it. You can do it!!

Simple but effective. I never write reviews, but this app has truly helped me change my life. I’ve wanted to get back into running for ages but kept falling into the same trap: over-exertion followed by soreness for days and sometimes injury, and I’d give up. This app forces you to progress slowly and safely, while simultaneously being hugely motivating. It calibrates to you - there have been a couple runs I’ve had to do twice as the first attempt was too much - but always keeps you moving in the right direction. It’s exceedingly simple…it just gives you a program for each run and notifies you over your music when to walk or run. But for me, that’s all I need and I now look forward to each of my next runs and seeing my stamina consistently improve.

Super easy and user friendly!. Despite this app being recommended by a runner friend, I have been blown away by how beginner-friendly it has been for my first, and second, dive into becoming a “runner.” The voice prompts/encouragement are friendly, not too frequent so they don’t interrupt your focus, and brief. I would classify myself as an intermittent/fair weather run/walker, and am currently using this app to train for my second 5k. I love how it customizes your overall track depending on how you rate the intensity of each run, and slowly builds the run/walk intervals. I honestly can say I anticipate using the program even after achieving my 5k goals (or consider the 10k version, although that’s a little much for me!).

CAN MAKE A RUNNER OUT OF ANYONE. This is the first time I’ve ever written a review tour an app but I am so happy with it that I have to. I have always been active and lifted at the gym and gone got long walks but one day I decided I wanted to become a runner. I originally tried doing it myself... “ok, just run until this song is over” or “ok just run until you make it to that landmark” and I failed every time. This app literally changed everything for me. I enjoy seeing my progress and having it all logged for me. I’m getting so much better and I totally look forward to my running days now. The only thing I wish it did was tell me my pace. Other than that I have no complaints. Total game / life changer!

Surprised myself. I’m writing this as I just finished the last run. I downloaded this app because i was tired of my endurance and I had to get better at running. If I had to be honest, in the beginning for until week 3ish, I legit procrastinated so much. I couldn’t make it to 10 mins barely and I just put it off. Then one day I decided I had enough and began where I left off. If I missed a day in the week I would continue and make it up Sunday or Saturday or even Monday. I kept going straight week after week and since it’s winter, the sun sets early. I had to stop running but I continued. Finally I just realized that weeks of work and effort, that 35 mins, it wasn’t that hard. I believe that this app is amazing and it can do wonders. I surprised myself and I am most definitely going to download the next app. Thank you- Daisy

Halfway there and still going!. Yesterday was week 4 day 3. When I started My pace was 2 mi in 30 min and the full 5k took 46. Yesterday the 2mi mark was 25 min and the 5k mark was 38. I’ve tried several of these couch to 5k apps before and have never made it past week 2. I either got lazy or the runs got too difficult too quickly and I became discouraged. Right now I’m pretty motivated to keep going! I was hesitant at first to pay because 9.99 is a bit steep. But it has been worth it and maybe since I paid I feel more obligated to follow through. The only downside to the app is that it doesn’t give cues while on in the background. I would also enjoy more words of encouragement during the run.

Overall pretty great! Watch out for what you pay for though!!. This app is a great version of the Couch to 5k program. It got be back to running after a >10 year break, no injury and very few aches and pains in the process. The loss of one star has to do with their payment structure. I purchased the Lifetime Premium thinking it applied to their other running apps as well, why would I purchase a lifetime membership for a program I’ll probably only do this one time as I progress on to longer distances? I really thought it applied to their other apps. I think they should be much more explicit in their explanation and pricing structure. I contacted customer support and basically just got a curt response simply stating there is no cross app purchase for memberships. They did not reply to my second message. Given this, I do not intend to use any of their other apps. Be sure you know what you’re paying for when you buy the in app purchases…

Great app for out of shape old man. I work from a home office and sit almost all day. I realized I am in horrible physical condition. I decided to try this app. The first day was 6 one minute runs sandwiched between walking. I could barely get through them. To my delight though, that was the hardest day so far. I am now in my 5th week. I am running 18 minutes of 30 and feel like there is nothing to it. My distance is already approaching a 5K. My only suggestion for this app would be to have a little more interaction on the audio. A voice telling me my pace, or “you just completed one mile”, or “you have been running for four minutes only four more minutes until you walk “ would be great. It does tell you when you have reached half way which is nice for knowing when to turn around.

Flawless for Beginners or Restarters. If you follow these routines exactly how they are drawn up for you, they will work 11/10 times. Even you you use to run a good bit, but fell off over the past few years, just stick to this 8 week program at first.. One issue I see with my friends is that they live in the past. They think that since they use to run 8 miles at a time in their 20’s, they can still do that after a 10 year break in their late 30’s.. they end up burning themselves out and quitting. This app really makes it enjoyable to get back to those 4-5 mile runs a few times a week. The great thing about this app is how you rate every run. So, if you think the run was too easy, the app automatically ups the entire program. If the run was perfect, it will stick to the program it originally wrote for you. If the run was too hard, it will soften the program it wrote for you. You also get a “personal trainer” for encouragement.. She doesn’t say a whole lot, but it seems she times her words of encouragement perfectly. Definitely worth a try

Love it!!. I haven’t made it all the way through do to personal reasons and life. But I love running with this app. Buzzer to run and walk. A “coach” voice letting you know “your awesome” “halfway there” “almost done” “great job”. Inspirational quotes to start your workout. You can listen to music. I listen to pandora and it still chimes in to keep you going. And a lock screen so you don’t accidentally skip an interval. I just love it. It’s totally worth paying for in my opinion and yes I’m a cheepo and never pay for apps but this is definitely worth it if you are looking to start out slow. And let me tell you I have never been a runner in my life and after 2 kids I’m ready to get back in shape. And this is definitely helping. Pick your own pace and don’t give up! 😘

Life Changer. I’ve always wanted to be a runner. I have friends who would tell me to stick to running because eventually I’ll start feeling an *allegedly* addictive runner’s high. For years I dreaded running at the gym. I’d run for a minute then walk for like 5 minutes then run again until I hit 30 minutes of cardio and then get on with my workouts, exhausted from the pathetic “run.” Finally, quarantine hit and I had to find ways to maintain fitness at home. Thus, I was introduced to couch to 5k. When I say it’s changed my life... it really has. Something about only having to run 3x a week and having a voice in my head that kindly let’s me know it’s time to start running and gently let’s me know “hey you can slow down now, good job!” It’s so comforting. It’s better than staring at a treadmill timer counting down for relief. I pop in my headphones, play good music, wave at my neighbors, and suddenly I’m running 10 minutes straight? And when I slow down to walk I catch my breath almost immediately?? My cardiovascular health has improved and I think I’ll actually be able to run a 5k by October!! Who knows? Maybe I’ll train for a 10k next. I can’t thank this app enough! I’m addicted to a really good hobby now :)

Made me a runner!. I have never run a single mile in my life that was not excruciating. I have recently made some serious strides towards becoming healthier including dropping from 240 lbs to an eventual goal weight of 160 (I’m currently 187). I started using this 5k app around 205 lbs and while I attribute most of my weight victories to my change in diet, this program has been incredible in keeping me active and pointed toward the goal of being healthier, not just weighing less. This is the first time I have EVER reviewed an app because I think THAT HIGHLY of this app. It is adding years to my life by setting attainable goals and helping me achieve them at a reasonable pace. I cannot believe that I am through 6 weeks of an 8 week training program!!! I have signed up for my very first 5k taking place just 5 days before my 36th birthday in just under 2 months. I never could’ve reached this goal as effectively and easily without this app!

Really Love It - but have a suggestion. I love this app, and the program itself. I’ve never enjoyed running and was very skeptical about starting this program to begin with. But I stuck with it and earned my 5K badge, and then decided to keep going! I’m 8 months in now and don’t plan to stop. I love the varying workouts so that it’s not just the same thing over and over again. I like looking back at previous times for the same workout and seeing how I’ve improved. I love that I can listen to music with the app while I run. And I love that the trainer updates me throughout the workout to keep me motivated. I recently got an Apple Watch and was thrilled that my app would link to my watch - but then was disappointed to find out that it doesn’t work beyond the initial 5K training. I would love it if you could update the app to work with my watch for the additional weekly sessions so that I don’t have to continue carrying my phone with me each time I run. Please!?! 🤞🏻

I went from hating the idea of running, to scheduling time to run every day. I knew that running was a great workout, but I didn’t have the endurance, motivation, discipline or athleticism needed to follow through with it. I researched different apps for a while and finally came across this one. It cost $10 to get the full features so I figured I might as well try it. I’m on week 7 day 1 (each of the 8 weeks consists of 3-4 weekly runs) and today I was able to run 20 minutes non-stop at a high speed without any difficulty. This is something that would have never been possible for me in the past. The app has allowed me to learn how to run in a way in which I actually enjoy the workout and feel strong and accomplished afterwards. I know I still have a long way to go, but this app has made such a difference in my daily routine and allowed me to finally enjoy running. I’m almost done with the 8 week program, and I’m even thinking about signing up for my first 5K. Don’t think twice, download this and start running.

Made me enjoy running. This is a good app with a nice, clean interface that makes it motivating and easy to use. I am a 21 year old guy in decent shape, and damnit I should be able to run. But, about three months ago, I would have been hard pressed to run a mile. I ran/walked a 5k with my co-workers in November 2017 and I finished in ~35 minutes and felt like throwing up (the average time for my age group was around 24 minutes). My girlfriend started using this app in May. I picked it up and did the first day May 16th. I got hooked really quick and decided to shell out the $10 to buy it—that was my biggest iOS purchase to date. 7 weeks later on July 21, I finished! Now I can do the 5k in around 23 minutes, and today (July 29th) I ran my first 10k. In a little over 2 months I went from disliking running a mile to kinda enjoying my 10k run. I think the app convinced me to take my time slowly add on distance, instead of running too hard and feeling exhausted and discouraged. Mileage will vary from person to person (pun not intended but I stand by it)—I think I was probably in a rather unique place to take advantage of this app—but I still think it will be well worth the money for most people in most situations. I highly recommend!

Great App!. I started this program at my heaviest of 218 and I knew it was going to be hard to stay on track. Once I started with the daily routines- I didn't want to stop. It has only 3 workouts a week but most weeks I would repeat the workout again and do it 6 times a week! I was one of those people who always said "I can't run" but now I don't anymore! I definitely am not an avid runner( I would say more a jogger) but this app has really opened my eyes to the world of running. And I'm down 28 lbs so I am overjoyed! I am now up to running 3.5 miles without stopping! I can't wait to start doing the 10K app because I am training for a 10K in January! If anything, try this app out- it's only 8 weeks and 24 workouts in all! I definitely have recommended it to everyone who asks how I lost so much weight! :):)

Great basic app for training new runners. This app really helped me feel comfortable moving from a non-runner to doing a 5k. Running has always been difficult for me both mentally and physically. I loved that it started out so simple—1.5 minute intervals of running and walking—and then worked up to running for much longer periods. I will say it seemed to jump quickly once you hit 15 minutes of running. After that, it increased your run time by about 5 minutes every time. The longest running period is 35 minutes, and without any other coaching during that time, it isn’t my favorite. I almost always lost motivation about 20 minutes in and started walking. So I switched to a new app that had coaching/encouragement for the full duration of a 5k. Overall though, the app is easy to use and the first 3/4 of the app are great! You can also play your music through the app, which is nice.

Deleting Doesn’t work. Bought the app but never really used it. Tried it out so there are old history data I want to delete. Delete button doesn’t work. Can’t change email address to start a new account. Had my boyfriend get it too so we could start together but I guess I can’t get a fresh start 👎😫. Will change to 5 stars if these minor features are fixed. Otherwise I’d continue recommend this for newbie runners. Update: support is no help. Gave me basic FAQ directions which don’t help. Have sent screenshots and emails that they don’t respond to. Delete data button does not work. Won’t reset my account or respond to emails. 😡🤬 Update: They fixed it!!! So excited to start using this again. 5 ⭐️

Literally changed my life!!. I'm not exaggerating, my confidence has soared and I'm so happy! I did a family 5k and finished shaking and unable to breathe or get off the ground in 44 minutes.. but i got hit with the running bug, which was in April... I stuck with it 3 times a week, sometimes missing a day here or there, and repeating a few days, but I just recently ran my own personal 5k, and finished being very tired, but not as beat as my first one... and in only 35min! 9 minutes off my time! I'm down 8 more pounds since adding this into my daily routine, and I am now moving on to the 5k pacer app! More importantly than just smashing my time, I was able to RUN THE ENTIRE TIME! That is just crazy to me! Your body really gets conditioned to running! Whether you repeat days or weeks, or miss a day here or there, keep going! Trust the program! I'm so happy I did! And for the love of God... -stretch after running!! -do the 5min warm up walk! -go to a runners shoe store to get fitted for real runners shoes, I can't stress that enough! Knock on wood but doing all this I have never had any injury or anything beyond typical muscle soreness!

If I can do it, YOU can do it. This app has carried me through several seasons of life & let me tell you, it’s a game changer. If you feel like you’re not a runner & the thought of running for more than a minute at a time scares the daylights out of you, this IS the app for you. I was always the slow kid in PE on those dreaded timed mile run days & continued to be that person into my thirties. One day I woke up & decided I needed to change my lifestyle. I was two babies into parenthood, weight wasn’t coming off, everything I ate stuck to me, I was tired, yada yada. I started this app in August & by October was running the full 5k. I could not believe it. I felt great. Holidays hit & I fell off the wagon. I did it again. Then I got pregnant & again, fell off the wagon. Once baby was 3 months, I did it again & maintained. One year later, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and fell off the wagon once again throughout half of my chemo regimen. But alas, I began the app again while having chemo. Then I took a short break for surgery, went back, & am about to start radiation. I’m still going strong & don’t plan to stop. If a run ragged mom of three young kids who is also in active treatment for cancer can do it, YOU can do it. Quit the excuses & just download the app and give it a try. You don’t fail unless you stop for good. YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS. Happy running!

Just what the doctor ordered (literally). I am pre-diabetic which means if my weight gets away from me I could enter into diabetes. My doctor had recommended exercising which until now I’ve avoided. I knew I needed to start running and what I lacked was motivation. It’s too easy to cheat, cut corners and basically get out of a meaningful run or exercise if you lack discipline. I lack discipline, and won’t deny it. This simple app commits you to a specific goal each time you use. I would feel guilty cutting corners with this app and so I don’t. Each workout gives you a tangible and achievable goal. When you reach that goal you feel both physically as well as mentally fulfilled. So yes, 5 stars. I am doing the trial but will buy the unlimited $10 full app. It’s worth every penny. A copay to the doctor for one visit is 3x’s that so yeah pretty easy choice.

Good program but wish Apple Watch app went beyond the 8 weeks. I’m 42 and I never thought I would run again. I just finished the 8 week program and finished my first 5km run in goodness knows how long. I’m really happy with my effort, and I have to give the app full credit. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because the Apple Watch app basically stops after the 8 week program, which is a little frustrating since I payed full price for it. The phone app has a 9+ week program to improve conditioning, but I don’t like running with my phone, nor should I have to.

Not the best app available. Hi I’ve recently started your running app and couldn’t help comparing it to the others. My main criticism is just the lack of coaching and motivation. Although I have this switched on during my runs my ‘coach’ barely utters a word. There is no encouragement to keep going, or well done this is your last run today. I chose a training app so that when my energy is running low someone telling me there is only 30 seconds left is exactly what I need. I have only heard one sentence from her which is well done you are worth it. I need more than that, please increase your coaching. Thanks

Surpassed my expectations. What a fantastic app! I have gone from celebrating 3 minute run intervals to completing a 35 minute run in 8 weeks. The progress and constant small wins is a huge motivator and I couldn’t have done this without a program such as this one. I would highly recommend this app to anyone hoping to increase their fitness and run distance.

What I need. The only consistent weight losers (IMO) are the distance runners. One of those people put me onto this app. I am overweight and I am used to people calling “run hard” so I lose momentum (and enthusiasm) to run again... because I can’t “run hard”. This app has corrected all that. It even knows when to give me ‘encouragement’ just when I feel like walking again. So I run again. Looking forward to aspiring to a constant run and all the benefits that come from that.

Does what it says. I’ve used this app a few times over the years and it’s always gotten me back to running 5K and beyond. Really great that it’s goes beyond the initial 8 weeks and provides the maintenance/improvement program after that. A nice feature for a future version would be the ability to manually add the distance run for those who have to use a treadmill. It would be nice to see the distances I’ve achieved accurately reflected in my stats.

Love this!. I really like the fact that it can connect to my Apple Watch (4g cellular one) and my headphones paired to the watch I can run with my watch on and still be able to listen to the app instead of lugging my phone around! Being able to run so far as I am within a little amount of time is amazing! Never thought I could be able to run long distant! This app is really good!

A great app for “non-runners”. This is a fantastic app for people who want to start running, but aren’t too sure how to go about it. After a few failed attempts at running, I download 5k Runner. It breaks down runs into sessions that are achievable, yet challenging, and allows for flexibility (I had to repeat a few runs, and even go back a week or two when I fell unwell). I can now run 5km, and am enjoying running so much that I am working my way through the 5k Pacer and 10k Runner apps, too!

V Helpful. I’ve been lazy as during lock down & didn’t really know where to start to get active. This app has been a real blessing, it’s got me up and doing something every morning. My partner has even joined in with me! The voice on the app tells you when to start and stop running, if it’s too hard you tell the app at the end of the run and it changes the run the next day to make sure it’s not too hard for you to keep on track with. Would deff recommend to absolutely any one and everyone

Not for beginners. This is not for beginners. I’m a healthy 48-year old. The first couple of weeks of this program were challenging but no problem. I’m now in week three and have ‘optimised’ (repeated the same day) three times, because the app wants to increase by one-minute increments every day now. I cannot do one-minute increments at this stage. The one time I tried I nearly fainted. There is no way to change this, all I can do is repeat the same day over and over. I really regret buying this, because now I’m going to have to find another running app and pay for that as well.

Please make an Apple Watch version!. Great app for total beginner to running, or returning to running after a long break. Found it extremely motivating, it eased me into running at the perfect rate. I have now moved on to the 5k pacer after enjoying this app so much. However, After recently purchasing an Apple Watch am most disappointed to find that this app is not compatible. Please make it happen! And the 5k pacer too!

🛋➡️➡️5K in 6/52. I’m not a runner. But with lockdowns gyms and pools are always shut so I gave this app a go. After 6 weeks I’m running 5k nonstop. With a good podcast or audiobook the run is over pretty quick. The app is mercifully quiet during your run so you can enjoy your choice of entertainment. I’m yet to love running, but I definitely feel better after a workout, and this app got me there 🏃‍♂️

Yet another company succumbs to corporate greed. It’s absolutely despicable and disgusting how many companies are thought to themselves, “hey, we’ve got a great product that we’ve charged users for using in the past… Why not delete that product, make one that’s exactly the same but charge them continual monthly or annual fees for it despite the fact they’ve already paid for it.” Alas, you get this app. Do not download it. I paid $7 for the original app, I’m not paying almost $50 for essentially the same thing. This is nothing but despicable corporate greed.

Very good. From someone who hated running all her life, I have found this app has really helped me to approach it in bite sized pieces. The trick in my view is not to follow the program precisely. I would go to a new level and repeat that run several times before I felt confident going to the next level. Currently on week 7 (of 8 week program) but it’s taken me 5 months to get here. Better slow than never. I am proud that I run every other day, slowly but regularly and am getting better all the time. Thanks to the developers!!

Didn’t think I would - but did. I started on 6 January 2019 and ran every second day, by 9th April was running the full 35 minutes (some times I repeated a session a few times, towards the end it was moving up a session only every week). I didn’t think I would ever be able to run for that long, but the app pushes you just enough and increases the length of each run by just enough to make it doable. I highly recommend this app.

Can’t recommend enough!. Absolutely amazing app/program! If I can do it starting off being super unfit, so can anyone. I can’t put into words what it feels like to see your health and body improve so much over a short time. You just have to commit 😊 I have a very busy life with full time work and 3 children so if I can find the time, anyone can!

Great App. This is a great app. I would like to hear some more confirmations, encouragement as we run. The app tells you when you are half way & gives a confirmation afterwards, but for those starting off without much family support etc, it would be great for some encouragement. Otherwise finding this great!

Genuinely life changing.. I am a plus size woman who has always felt extremely uncomfortable and self conscious at the thought of running. With the guidance of this app, in 8 short weeks my relationship with running and fitness has completely changed for the better. I have recommended this app to so many friends and strongly recommend it to you.

Very amateur. I’m not a runner particularly of distance. I can cycle and do every week so have some fitness. This app has help me get out there and get moving. I have used this app then stopped for ages. When I want to get back in to running I know I can do it thanks to this app. I love the run walk method. My goal this summer is to run once a week.

Very well made.. I went from no running experience whatsoever (in fact I used to have running/sprinting based exercise induced asthma) to being able to run 30-35mins! That’s more than I’d ever ran in my life due to fear of asthma attacks! I am very pleased with the app; and have moved onto C210k (on the way to training for a half marathon). However I may still use this program for speed improvement training (you do kind of outgrow it once you’ve done it once- but that’s a good thing- though there’s potential for re-use in speed training). It progresses at a good pace and whilst it looks intimidating at first it is paced well. Every week I’d happily tell friends my latest running record out of excitement at my progression.

App works well. This app helps encourage you to run at your own pace and increases the time required to run each week. It is very difficult for an absolutely beginner like myself but if you preserve and redo days before moving on you will get better. Because you run at your own pace you may not get to 5k or you may exceed the 5k. It’s up to you. My first runs I could jog slowly for 10 seconds. I felt like a failure. Keep going and I got to running for ten minutes no drama. So keep going.

Post-partum to 5K. I have had 2 kids in three years and have felt exhausted beyond belief and missed being in the body I used to be so familiar with. I genuinely have not jogged or ran in almost 12 months and every time I have tried in the years prior, I’d flog myself then need to sleep for hours and feel sick. This app is exactly what I needed and I write this after I earned my first badge. I needed a coach to tell me how to exercise at a pace that was right for me - someone who has barely exercised in years. Worth every penny and more. Thank you for getting me back.

Fairly new runner. This app worked well until week 5, when it all of a sudden stops saving my progress or/and recording it. Often I finish the program only to find it says I‘ve run for 10 seconds only or it doesn’t save it. Quite disappointing for an app I‘ve paid for. As another user pointed out it doesn’t tell you how far you‘ve run, only how much kms you‘ve covered running and walking combined. That’s as long it actually saved or didn’t freeze and delete that you’ve done the workout.

Love this app!. I took one look at week 8 and thought I will never be able to run 35 minutes none stop and this app totally proved me wrong! I have never been a fan of cardio and definitely struggled through some of the runs but have enjoyed following the training program and completing the milestones which kept me going to the end. Highly recommend for beginners like me and if I can do it anyone can!

Great motivator but needs sync tweaking. I have started the program to get to a 5k run. So far so good. The only problem I have with it is that I do my workouts using my watch not my phone and they only show as completed on my watch but not my iPhone app. This means I can’t view an accurate history via my phone etc. I also can’t access motivational badges etc. A better sync between devices would have given 5 stars.

Amazing. This app took me from someone who didn’t even work on a regular basis to someone who runs a few times every week. It adapted to make me feel progress and not feel like a failure. I would recommend holding the padlock to make sure you don’t accidentally delete your progress part way through a run 😊

It’s good, but lags. It’s been good using this app, I’am currently half way through. You can re-do the same weeks until you are ready to progress which is good. However on multiple occasions the app would skip walks and go straight to the next run. Or it would lag and you would need to run for longer. Also wish it could tell me my speed during the runs, just to see if I am getting faster. If the lagging and skipping doesn’t stop I will unfortunately have to stop using it and it would feel like I paid for an app that doesn’t do it’s job.

It’s been great. I’m at the five week mark at the moment but have just rolled my ankle. I won’t be running for a bit but I find that none of the running apps have an option for recording an injury or anyway to down grade or alter the plan to reflect new conditions. Otherwise features and functionality are good.

App is great for beginners!. Love this app. I’d never thought I’d be a runner but I need to be more active so thought I’d give it a try. I’m 24 never really ran in my life, this app is really great for easing you into it. The only thing I would love is for the app to keep tracking your route after the cool down. I often still have a 5-10 minute walk back home and it bugs me not seeing the full circle I’ve done!

Download now, just do it. I’m so glad I did. My fitness has skyrocketed with the help of this app. I have never run in my life, and the concept seemed unachievable. But I promise it’s not, I have not experienced any of the feared shin splints or body aches because the program is perfectly tailored to your fitness level. Such a fantastic app, it’s changed my life.

Awesome App 10/10. Absolutely awesome App. Gently gets you working out. The gradual increase in run time makes running achievable. I’ve found I’m really looking forward to each run knowing I’m running for longer and really making progress. The way the app is set up visually is great, you can see exactly what’s coming up next either a run or rest. Love how you can look back on your history and see how much progress you’ve made. Having the half way point on days when your a little less energetic is a great idea. Well done.

Exactly what I needed. This app is great - I listen to podcasts when I walk and wanted an app that would encourage me to start running but not get in the way of my listening. This app plays behind my podcast app and just lowers the volume enough to tell me when to walk/run. A few random words of encouragement which I like and really just the perfect level of motivation/support and leaving me to it :-)

Good. I’ve been using this app for a few months now and it’s been great. the coach voice used to be silent with each transition phase however now the coach speaks with each switch to walk/run which I really dislike when previously it was just a bell to signal when to stop/start running. I’ve redownloaded the app to try fix it but it remained the same. Please change it so I don’t have to hear the coach’s voice at all during my runs.

Great App for portly gentlemen. First used this app and the 10km uplift to get in shape to run the 14km City2Surf race, from Sydney city to Bondi. The intervals of walk/ run helped build up strength and stamina in the legs. Plus the walking helps those of us with a more rotund, portly disposition to shed some Kgs/lbs along the way. After successfully completing the race, I celebrated by stopping running and quickly going to seed again. I’m back, with the 5Km version!!! Running on grass or on the beach to lessen impact on knees, joints. The interval format greatly helps to make the whole process less excruciating and more pleasurable. Thks.

Motivated. I have always hated running, but I realised it’s the best form of cardio. During lockdown my Gym has closed so I’m on a journey with a goal to run 5Km. The App is easy to use. I did a free first run & loved it. I created a running playlist in my Music & I’m keeping motivated. I’m into week 2 & already seeing results. I’m able to keep up with the running section & really like that I can see my results at the end. Well done 22 Fitness!

True to form!. My friend and I used this app to start running .... we couldn’t even run 100m with out stopping before we started. The flexibility of the app allowed us to repeat a few weeks along the way when didn’t feel we were ready for the next step. It took us a little longer but we made it to the end and beyond! Running 8-10km 2-3 times a week plus the local park run. This app really does work and the flexibility allows you to progress at your own pace - and you can still listen to your own music 🏃‍♀️Highly recommend!

Couch to five at 55 yrs old!. This is an excellent app! I’m a 55 year old woman, I love walking and yoga but have never enjoyed running or the gym. I loved training with this app and can’t believe how easy it is for me to run now! I tried another couch to five app but it kept freezing mid run! This is reliable and really user friendly. I highly recommend!

Life changing. I didn’t used to be able to run for longer than 1 minute without needing a break. I’ve never been overweight, but my running fitness was horrible. Now I’m halfway through the 5k program and I can comfortably run for 8 minutes straight without needing to stop and catch my breath at the end. I’m excited to start the workout every other day, and I’m already thinking about a 5km charity run at the end. Don’t hesitate!!! This app is worth its weight in gold.

Easy to use with good progressions. I’m a beginner runner and am finding the progressions in this app (relatively) easy to achieve. The app functions really well though the GPS function is obviously not suited to treadmill running. I only use the treadmill if the weather is bad so it’s not a huge problem. The only thing that irritates me (and this is super minor) is that, like most apps that track a behavior, the notifications to remind me to run keep coming even if I’ve already done my run for the day. It’s really not an important thing but it does annoy me. Other than that, this is a good app.

Absolutely Amazing App. This App is Incredible it is really easy to use and it kept me inspired with all of the inspirational quotes and badges you collect on your journey to 5k. I also loved how you can play your own music so that you know what you like and what will push you to keep running. This app has made running feel more like an activity rather than a chore. And as a young 14 year old boy this really helped push myself to achieve my goals

Only thing that will get me running. Have used this app once before after a knee surgery to regain fitness and it worked a treat. Am trying it again to get into shape and I love it. So easy, it’s the only thing that gets me running. All you have to do it follow the instructions, the program is set out for you and it tracks everything. Best running app out there, you can start small so it doesn’t seem too intimidating and build up slowly! Super excited to get back into it now

Where have the audio options gone?. Please, please, please make an option to get rid of the awful voice overs! A previous version had the option of just chimes for start/stop running, but now you can’t turn off the additional voice that blares in over your podcast with “START RUNNING!” or “WOW YOU’RE DOING GREAT, YOU’RE AN AMAZING PERSON!” 🤮 or “SLOW DOWN AND WALK!!!”. Please reinstate the option for no voiceovers. I’ve searched everywhere in the settings. Also while I’m complaining I should point out it’s pretty silly that 5K Runner can’t tell you how many kms you’ve run while running, and also that you can’t stop a run early (even in the cool down phase) without losing the entire thing. I use MapMyRun alongside this app to check my distance/total time as I go, but it’s just dumb having to use two apps when I already paid for one.

Won’t honour my previous purchase. I purchased your app when it was new, and recently had to re-download. Tried to restore my purchase but it just kept telling me that I didn’t have one. My Apple ID has not changed and I cannot download the original app as your troubleshooting guide suggests. I contacted your tech support via the app, and through your website and the response I received was “we’re only available to premium users”. I understand that my puddly $4 for lifetime membership is not as great as your new subscription prices, but if it weren’t for customers like me, your app wouldn’t be as popular as it is now! Really, really poor support on your behalf!

100% recommend - you can get to 5kms no matter what your fitness level is. Let me start by saying I have not run more than 10 metres in 8yrs. And before that would have been 1998. I set a goal for myself in August 2020 to be able to run 10kms by the end of the year. I thought I'd start with this 5km app first because I was not confident at all. I found it so difficult to start with. Even the first weeks of just running for a minute were so so hard and I really didn't believe I could get to 5kms. The program was so good at pushing me little by little and not making it so hard I felt like it was unrealistic. 6 weeks later I have days when 3kms in I want to quit (and have quit a few times) but I also have days when I can just keep going. Last week I ran 8kms and could not have been happier with myself. I've reset my goal to run 10kms before my 40th birthday next week. Love this app and would recommend to anyone starting from scratch like me.

Definitely worth a shot!. I’m not a runner, I never have been! But a friend recommended this app when I said I wanted to try to get into running, but really struggle with motivation and knowing what to do. This app is great! You’ve got a voice through your speakers telling you when to run, when to stop, and motivating you when you feel like giving up. I’m currently on Week 6, and am running for 8 minutes at a time which is amazing to me, considering I tired very easily prior to starting and absolutely hated the idea of going for a run. Now I find myself looking forward to it! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking to give it a go.

Expensive and missing a vital feature. Things start off in a friendly and encouraging way. The voice coach is pretty annoying ("Hey there awesome runner, have a great run!") but you'll get through the first few weeks happily enough. But as you progress, you'll actually want to know how far you have run. No brainer, right? Amazingly this app can't tell you. It will only show a combined figure for walking and running. So even though the app cost me $7.99, I actually had to use another free app (MapMyRun) to work out how far I was running. Very unimpressive.

Great app with one disappointment. Have loved the app so far, got me from nothing to 5km over about 8 weeks which for me is amazing. The issue though is in the Apple Watch support. It worked fine for weeks 1-8 and the end of the main program, but while the iPhone app can progress to week 9 and beyond to continue improving performance, the watch app doesn’t. You get left at the “Great Job” and have the ability to scroll back through your history, but not to then follow the continuing program as per the iPhone. Is there any chance of that support coming?

Never thought I would run again. After having three children and experiencing severe diastasis rectii, a pelvic organ prolapse and osteoarthritis in my knees and ankles, I had written off running. But being in my 40s and starting to struggle with perimenopausal weight gain and anxiety, I knew I needed to up my exercise levels. I decided to try Couch to 5K because I figured gradual intervals would make it less hard on my body. I’m so glad I did! This app has made a massive difference in my life, and I really look forward to my runs. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to run but has a head full of excuses. I love how it optimises the runs so it’s always just the right level of challenge. I really benefit from the reminders, the structured approach and the cheering coach who says ‘Hey runner!’ Each time I start my run. This app will honestly help you go from couch potato to runner, you just have to download it and get out there.

Excellent app but could be improved. Love how this app paces out workouts and gives users a chance to review the difficulty of each session. It’s very easy to stick to. The only improvements I would suggest include: - Connectivity to heart rate monitors and associated apps - “Treadmill” awareness or function. The app currently relies on GPS data to track distance and calories. It’s not great and detecting that Treadmill runners are in the one spot and attempts to map the run turn into a scribble

Needs Apple Watch Function. I have used this app before and it does exactly what it says, it used to push to your watch years ago but now that we have all this amazing technical its just annoying that it doesnt have a watch function. Running with an iPhone is annoying but hey there are more important things in life than that. It definitely will get you running long distances without a break, so it is worth it. Just App Developers please consider a watch version especially those of us that have watches with Data and Sims.

First run - seems perfect for my current situation. Genuinely going from couch to whatever I can achieve and I found this first run perfect. I've been fit before so know what I'm capable of and know how it should feel but am coming back from illness. I'll review as the program progresses. I note someone else said they'd like to see some intervals as well. I would agree with that later in the program, but at this point I'll just wait and see.

5k. Just started using. Easy to use. Looking forward to results.

Misleading description. Misleading description “Free Version” is actually only a free 7 day trial. You only find this out after entering all your information.

Bait and switch. Does not tell you about the 60$ payment until u have wasted time putting in all the health details to build a plan.

I ran 5K!. This app is exactly what it promises - it took me from being an occasional walker to running 5K in just a couple of months. So glad I spent the money. Only leaving 4 stars because I wish that the app integrated music services other than Apple, but this limitation did not impede me much at all.

Glorified Timer. Having the couch-to-5K program built-in is great, but that's about it. Doesn't sync your progress between devices (I like to run with my phone outside but use my iPad when on the treadmill - being able to follow my progress between them would be useful), and there's no way to mark a workout as complete. Coaching is minimal - basically no guidance re: pace or form aside from a couple of pointers on day 1, just a canned voice that says "you're awesome" once a workout.

Best app. Uplifting and easy app to get your running and stay running 👌🏼

Exactly what I hoped it would be. Love that this app takes the research & guesswork out of planning a running regimen for a newb like me. Really enjoying my runs, so far no joint pain thanks to the gradual approach, and feeling optimistic about getting to 5k!

My review. I really like this app… it has helped immensely in getting me back to running. The only thing I don’t like is the summary photo. It shows the entire kms with warm up and cool down, but then for the time displayed it excluded the warmup and cooldown time. This is deceiving because we aren’t running during the the warmup/cooldown so it gives an incorrect picture. Wish they would update that to just include the run time and the run distance excluding the warmup/cooldown

Worth every cent!. Purchased the App during the pandemic. I still have it. I still use it. If you start jogging, like I did, you can pick up where you left off or start over at the beginning so you don’t kill yourself. Worth every cent. I spend way more money on beer! Don’t be cheap!

Great app, really works. You have a personal motivation program! Its simple and it works.

Scam. I bought this app a while ago and started using it again to get back into running. Only allows me to got to week four before buying it again

Great!. Awesome app, motivating and worth the money if you’re working towards 5km

Easiest way to get to 5k. I’ve used this app to get to 5k. Within a year I ran my first marathon. Great app that takes the thought out of getting up to 5k.

Not for Treadmills. The app doesn’t calculate distance or calories accurately when running indoors!

Rip off!. Not actually a free app. Gives you 4 runs and then charges you to use it. Beware

Does Not Work With Google Play Music. The program is great and the app works well to keep you on track and motivated. However, it only works with your iTunes library, meaning I can't use my Google Play Account with it. Add in that functionality and I will definitely give it 5 stars.

Great!. I’m an older guy (62 come run time) who hasn’t run for many many years. My daughter has asked me to run the 5K portion of an upcoming charity marathon. She suggested this app to help me get ready and be successful at completing my first run. I find the app great! It's very informative and starts you out slowly with a lot of encouragement to help keep you motivated. There are informative articles within as well as links to YouTube videos. I’m hoping to be successful at my first run with my daughter. Thanks to this app I’m feeling more positive about this challenge.

App access is behind a paywall after you input your info. Ive never deleted and 1 starred an app this fast. how to piss off real customers : add a paywall on your entire app but make it sound like its free!!!!

Love this App!. This is my second time starting from day one. A few years ago this app helped me get to 5k every morning, I have never found anything that works like that!

Awesome program!. I’ve done this program a few times over the last few years. It’s tried and true. Great for beginners or folks like me that keep beginning. I highly recommend it!

Needs more personalization. Love this app, but the interval sound almost bursts my eardrums every time I hear it. Needs an option to control the volume so I can listen to music without damaging my hearing.

Not free. I used to have this app, it was free. It really helped me! Now I have to pay for it? No thank you. I’ll hang out on my couch.

5k. Good app

No support after purchasing lifetime subscription. Purchased lifetime subscription from app and then bought new phone and couldn't reinstall app. Emailed twice asking for support with no reply.

Not actually free. Not actually free it’s 60$ to use it past day 5

Awesome instructions. I highly recommend this app..

I love this app!!!. I cannot believe I just completed this program! I am not a runner… or am I?! I feel amazing and so proud. Running has been really hard for me since my early twenties (I’m 38). I stuck with this program and didn’t try to overdo it - it builds very slow and steady - and it worked!!! Highly recommend it.

Not free anymore!. Used to be free now they are charging us $50!!!! Bye-bye

Awesome. Thank you That was great

too expensive. not paying for this

I’m a slug. I cannot believe I’m actually running after a 15 Hiatus- at first my feet felt like elephant feet and then after 3 days I found my groove. The slow approach and coaching is awesome

Well worth it. Gets me on track every time

Very misleading and overpriced. Super misleading, it’s advertised as free but you only get 4 free runs and then you need to pay $14 for the entire program. It’s a complete rip off, there are other apps that have this exact program that are much cheaper. What a joke

Awesome for beginners. Great app to get you started on 5K and beyond.

Great app.. Amazing!

Misleading and not free. Only gives you a few days free and then you have to pay

Excellent!. I used the app years ago and this version is even better. Highly recommend for new runners.

5K runner. Awesome program to take you to a 5K run in 8 weeks! You can restart at weeks 4, 5 etc later on, it’s perfect

Perfect!. This app helped go from out-of-breath after 1min to a solid 5k in two months

Pretty expensive. No free version and it's like $50. My motivation to run instantly gone. Damn

Get over the gender binary. If your app requires me to select gender but does not offer my gender then I’m gonna delete it straight away

Latest update requires location access to start. The latest update will not allow a run to start unless you enable location access. Unacceptable breach of privacy. One star review until it is changed back.

Amazing. The 5k app is so good I recommend and after I finish th 57 I will do the 10k

This app is not free. App is advertised as having a free version. It does not. I completed my first four runs & then wax left with no option but to purchase or quit. I have downloaded an actual free app. Very misleading.

En français. Est-ce possible ?

Won't sync with Watch. Following all instructions - app says it's set up but Watch says go to the app for set-up. Makes a seemingly great app fairly useless.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!. You cannot do the full 5k without paying! DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!

Great for getting started. Started on the couch during Covid. Was able to run 10km after about 8 months.

Love this app!. It’s like a personal coach in your pocket. There are voice prompts and encouragement. It also tells you your distance and info about training. This is THE app to use while learning to run. Thank you developers.

NOT FREE. I downloaded the app, and after entering all my info, I have to get through a pay wall to actually do anything?? Not even a single free run! What a rip off.

Not worth the cash. I’m a normal person, I like to get in shape and sorta will fall off every now and then, and anytime you download the app again they try to recharge you. I paid for the full app something like 5 years ago and now they want me to buy it again and now there’s some “lifetime” Version 🤨I won’t buy it. I would honestly bet that in the next few years it turns into some subscription service they charge you for. If you are one of the few people that can actually stick with it and get to the 5k do it, totally worth it. if your like me and you go back and forth between I can run and I hate running put on a song! jog through The chorus of the song then walk throughout the the rest and gradually shift to running.

Definitely changes my average “walk/run”. I’m not attempting to run a 5k but I have just been attempting to be more fit. I enjoy walking and like challenging myself when I walk by choosing to run up a hill, here or there, but this app doesn’t let me decided when or where I run. It also keeps me accountable to keep running when I get tired. I really hate that you have to pay for the whole eight week program, or at least that what it appears. I know a company has to make money, but when it comes to bettering myself I wish these companies would see the benefit of letting us use them for free. Maybe they should have it set up that by week 7 if your still using the app then you pay, not after week one.

Running with my kids. My elementary age kids and I are working on becoming running warriors. This program is getting us closer to our goal. By wk 2 day 2 we purchased the rest of the program so we could finish the race. It is easy to use and makes running a 5k doable with the training we are getting via the app.. We give it 4 thumbs up. My only wish is that it would track how far we ran. Update years later we use this app and appreciate the updates. My elementary kids are now in college and we are raising our a new runner. We like the app encouragement and reminders to not miss a day.

First time runner at 52!. I have always been active but I have never been a runner. When I got “too busy” to go to the gym, a friend suggested I run in my neighborhood. I told her I’ve never run in my life! She suggested this app and it has changed everything I thought about running. I followed it and found that I CAN run by starting slow and progressing a little bit, week by week, over time. And only 30 minutes a day! After 8 weeks? I ran my first 5k in just over 30 minutes. After about a year of using it, I am running 3 miles 3-4 times a week at a 9’-9’30” pace! I have never felt better!

Worked wonders. This app has truly gotten me to easily extend my running times. I used to run distance years ago and wasn’t sure I could get back into it. The app does a short assessment at the beginning to see where to start you which was great as I didn’t have to start on week one. After 7 weeks I’m ready for a 5K this weekend. ******The key to getting the most out of this app will definitely be consistency on your part. If you can’t commit to three days a week you probably won’t get there.

Company lacks ethics!. I paid for the ad free version of this app a couple of years ago. It was simple, worked great and I really liked it. I stopped running last summer and had not used the app since then. I started using again last week and discovered I only had access to the first 5 days. If I want to use the remaining program I am forced to subscribe to the app and pay $7.99 monthly for a simple 5k run/walk program. Sure they’ve added a few useless features such as GPS tracking that drains my battery and produces a silly map showing where I ran. (I know where I ran, map not needed.) Give me a break!! How is that worth $8 per month? You are deleted! Banished from my phone for ever! There are dozens of running apps out there. I’ve already downloaded two free running apps. I’ll be giving those a try. Meanwhile, fitness22 is deleted!

Convenient and just what I needed 🏃‍♀️. I just finished my first workout and I absolutely love this app! I have a hard time motivating myself and I tend to burn out quickly but with this app I actually completed the workout and followed all the instructions. I love that it sets timers and automatically moves to the next step of the workout. It was great motivation for me. I also like how someone speaks to you and walks you through the process. Honestly I didn’t have high hopes for this app at first but I am truly impressed! If you have trouble with motivation, patience, and consistency, I HIGHLY recommend this app.

Finally able to enjoy running. I’ve been using this app for over a month now and love it. I’ve never ever been a runner but I’ve been wanting to get back in shape after my fourth child. I also suffer from depression (like most of us)and running has turned into my medicine. Thank god for this app and gradually pushing me to achieve my goals!!🙏🙌 you can turn your music on and have the app going in the background to queue you when to run and walk. I highly recommend this app if you’re serious about wanting to run but don’t know where to start!

Love this. I’m only on week 2 but I already know this app is turning me into a runner. I’m doing this for a half marathon my brother talked me into doing. Me, someone who’s not a runner at all lol. This app gives you cute, encouraging messages. The workouts are challenging but doable. And of course it asks you after each workout if it was challenging enough for you specifically or if it needs to be adjusted. Honestly highly recommend, 10/10. It’s like $40 for lifetime access which compared to other apps these days, I think is pretty great. Download it! You got this!

Great! When it works.... I was loving this app however I got sick of carrying my phone and was delighted to learn that you could use it with your Apple Watch without your phone. Issue is, it’s really glitchy. First off, you have to start the workout from your phone, so by the time I’m out the door I’m already 30 seconds into my countdown. You also do not have the ability to pause it. Once your are away from your phone, good luck. I’ve yet to have a whole run where it worked the whole time. Either it completely stops giving you notifications or the notifications come prematurely or at the wrong time. I find myself having to memorize the workout and manually having to time it. Watching a clock while you are running is counterproductive. Waste of money unless the glitches are fixed.

BUYER BEWARE: TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.. Update. Finally got some customer service. And app restored. Will be monitoring and update my rating as needed. I have loved this app since I purchased it as part of a 9-app bundle in 2017, BUT there have been lots of updates and my 5K app and wants me to pay again. I’ve emailed customer service five times now and received two identical responses that clearly didn’t read my email and advised me to do the same things that did not work. The last three times I’ve emailed over the past month haven’t even received a response. Buyer beware.

Newbie and love it!. I was never a runner, hated even as a teenager. But I tried to start a couple of times when In college and was never successful with sticking to it and/or found the programs I was using to be to difficult. This program is nothing like those! I feel like it had paced me well and I’m feeling confident that I will be more than ready for my first 5k in September of ‘22! Another note to its credibility, my boyfriend, who is a runner, runs with me sometimes and has mentioned multiple times how great he thinks it is! And has talked about how he wish he would have found it when he started running.

Very useful. I was 10 miles a day, 7 minute mile, uphill both ways runner a few years ago until a heart condition laid me out in my late 20’s. Now that I am in remission and 150 pounds heavier, I’ve had a helluva time getting back into shape. Nothing sticks. I started this interval app after having its training regiment suggested to me. So far, three weeks in, I’m very pleased with the results. Still fat but running is getting easier every time I go out. Only grievance I have is with the $7.99 subscription fee every three months this for usage. Other apps have a one time cost that’s lower. I’m a chronic malcontent so maybe it’s more on me that I’m irked but alas it’s the only negative I can find for the app and it’s program.

Nice app, but has room for improvement.. First the pros: Beautiful app, works well, motivating, shows your progress, Voice prompts are great, nice app on the phone. But there are also cons: No watch app. This is 2020 and we’re almost on the 6th generation of Apple watch. There is no reason at all to not have a stand-alone watch app that uses the watch’s gps and music and then later syncs with the phone when the run is over. UI is frustrating. You can’t lock your screen. Locking the screen caused the voice prompts to stop. So I had to make sure the screen was open all the time. This meant I’d occasionally skip a run or walk cycle and have to rewind, or accidentally pause it and not realize until minutes later. Says it’s compatible with all music apps, but the ONLY way to play music on my iPhone is to load a play list through the C25K app and play it that way. If I started the music in the native Music app, the voice prompts never happened. I got into the music and walked almost a full 10 minutes on the warm up before it occurred to me that I should have heard the Start Running cue by then. So there’s definitely room for improvement.

Takes you from zero to 5k runner. Really.. This morning was the very first time that I ran a 5k distance, and I have this app to thank for it. I’m that guy who never ran at all and at 58 y/o was growing a fairly decent cut. So off the couch and into a pair of running shoes I go, with this app in my ear. Not gonna lie, it hurts. But this app starts you off with very small segments and reasonable walking segments. The ramp up was slow and made sense. I also appreciated the mapping and statistics. If I had to find something to complain about, it would be that the initial voice telling you to start warming up by walking is at full volume and painfully loud. The rest of the run is at normal volume and fine. Not sure why. I did stop using his app about halfway through week six as I was actually going well beyond the segment times and even beyond the entire days duration. Maybe they could come up with an advanced runners buildup to a full 10k run. Job well done guys!! App is a winner in my book. And yes, I’ve lost about ten pounds so far.

Truly the best couch to 5k of all….. I used to be a regular 10l runner. Then injuries begin. Not to mention I then broke my leg last year. Weight gain, lethargy, feeling defeated. I retired and something just challenged me. I had always been active. I went back to a couple of old training apps out there and they just made by me feel more defeated because I remembered what I used to run like. Then I tried yours. I stuck with it because of the progression. I started at the end of April and today I completed my first 30 minute continuous run. Best of all ….. no injuries. I’m signing up for m first 5k in 12 years. Thank you!!!!

67 years young and I’m loving this app!. Over the last several years I stopped working out and pretty much gave into the idea that I was getting too old to even try running again. Four months ago I started decided to drastically cut my sugar consumption, started drinking Athletic Greens, and walking . Three months ago I decided to kick it up a notch. This app has helped me challenge myself. I started losing the extra pandemic weight I’ve gained and I feel so much better. I did also decided to to add Ancient Nutrition Multi Collagen protein to my daily regiment. I’m not setting any speed records but I’m out there😁, and I feel pretty good.

Just download it.. I used to run years ago. I needed motivation to start again. Just finished week 2. You can play whatever music while the app is open. Just start! Update: Still love this app. End of week 6 I threw my back out and had to take a week off. Started again one week later and went back a few weeks in the training to be able and come back safely. It has tracked all training no matter what (I was concerned it might cancel out previous work done). Still really love this app.

Works, with some limitations. I got this because I’m a beginner runner. It’s great for giving me a structured plan to follow. However, after my first time using it I noticed a problem: this doesn’t track your full walk/run, it only tracks up until the point you reach your goal. For example, my first walk totals 25 minutes: When I reached 25 minutes in the app I decided to take a 5 minutes detour to the store to grab a water. From there I continued my walk back home, which took another 5 minutes. But the app stopped tracking my time and distance as soon as it hit the 25 minutes, meaning that extra 10 minutes I walked after reaching the 25 min. goal is unaccounted for. The only reason that’s really an issue for me is I’m tracking my precise time and distance in a spreadsheet so I can look back on my progress over the next few months. Not a big deal, I can have another running app going in the background. But for anyone else checking this out that is trying to track precise data, just a heads-up!

The PERFECT way to START your FITNESS journey!. 25 pounds down and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the Couch to 5k App! This app has been such a blessing in my life! Whether your a beginner or a fitness pro this app will push you to reach your own personal fitness goals! The best part about it is that you can choose the pace you would like to go at. Before this app I couldn’t run for more than 5 minutes without feeling like I was going to pass out. Now I can successfully run a 5K like I have been doing it my whole life!

I just ran a 5k for the first time in my life. I have never liked running, I've never been good at running. It's sweaty and gross and I have to exert effort and it's just...not fun for me. But, I'm trying to build endurance as a spiritual discipline and I figure practicing long distance running is the best way to do that so I downloaded this app and it's changed the whole game for me. I just finished my first run with it and what used to be this tedious, gross, discouraging task that I avoided like the plague is now not only fun for me, but it's finally possible. I'm truly grateful for this app, and I can't wait to use it again and again. ♥️🏃🏼‍♀️

A frame for me to fill. This app has helped me achieve my goal of running and losing weight this 2017 year, and the only thing it really did was give me a structure in which to do so. I provided the motivation and the time necessary to put into it, and it has been successful for me and I am super happy that I bought the full version for a few bucks. I was super pleased with the pace at which it developed, and to be professional and quality app that it is. I am finishing the last run today, and I plan to buy the next app (5k faster) to help me run faster and continue my growth in being a runner.

Solid way to build running in with other training. Started powerlifting a while ago and got away from cardio outside of like 10 minutes after a lift. Wanted to run a 5k with my friends but was nervous I’d burn out for lifting. This was a good way to build in running on my off days, adjust schedule and pace, and self-manage how I felt around my other training. You’re encouraged to warm up, cool down, and stretch as well which helps with burn out and conservation for other activity. Shaving time off my mile while feeling healthy and strong 👍🏻

Fantastic motivation!. I’m In my mid-60’s leading a sedentary lifestyle and just went on my first interval 5K training workout. I had forgotten how much fun this app is! I used it when in the military to get in shape for PT testing and it was the best tool I had. Now, years after military retirement I’ve rediscovered this app and love it. It’s simple to use and breaks up the intervals in such a way that the workout (I really didn’t want to do) went fast and was actually fun! I’m encouraged! I can do this! I can get back in shape and run with my grandkids! Thank you for this program. It is the best I’ve ever used and so happy to have found it again. Sincerely thankful!

Great App. I hate running, but this is working.. I love the 5k app. I hate running , but it is keeping me going and I have bought other Fitness 22 apps because of it. There are some things I've had problems with - and if they are user error, I will own up to it. 1. I have now accidentally run 2 out of 4 runs twice. A. It would be helpful if there was a "Are you sure you want to do this run again?" safeguard. B. It would also be good if there was some indicator section on the screen of what run you were running when you are in the middle of a run. I could stop running the wrong run and start running the right run sooner. 2. I have started running when getting motivational notifications and wondered if I should start getting spun up for the run portion of the training because there is no lead into the running sections. A. A statement with countdown would be helpful. "Begin run in 3. 2. 1. Begin run". I have a Tabata trainer that does this and it's great. It also works on the countdown to stopping, too. "Begin walking in 3. 2. 1. Walk." "Cooldown in 3. 2. 1. Cooldown for 5 minutes then stretch". Otherwise, great job!

Great app. I’ve been using this app on and off for a long time. Honestly I’ve never made it past halfway but I like the structure it gives my workouts. I’m also a fan of the new update that optimizes workouts, I’ve never been able to keep up with the improvement rate the app expects, so I repeat days a lot and now that’s built in for me. It’s not possible for a lot of very sedentary people like me to actually get in good enough shape in 8 weeks to run a 5K (it might take more like 16 weeks) and that’s something I’ve realized using this app. But that’s probably something I should’ve been more realistic about starting out.

Needs updates to fix glitches. Great app. Very effective in encouraging you to reach your goal. 2 issues that must be addressed by developers. 1. Glitches on iPhone running the app in the background while watching a movie and app glitches and doesn’t tell you the command to walk after running. I know its been longer than my time so I switch back to run app and then it give the command to walk. If I didn’t switch back to this app it would not tell me to walk. Also on the Apple Watch app the clock glitches the timer is slow and catches up when I shake my wrist. The functionality needs updating. Needs to be tested on newer iPhones and Apple watches.

It changed my life. I never in my life was a runner ! Not even a person that will workout a little! Nothing! I’m 29 years old and I started getting weight and have health issues. I found this app and I decided to give it a try! I tried before to run on my own but it was a waste of time. This app... is different! It gave me the guidance and support I needed to succeed!! I now can’t wait for my evening walk/runs. I changed my entire lifestyle! I gained so much confidence using this app! It’s truly very very helpful and I recommend it to everyone that is a couch potato that wants to turn their life around but don’t know how to start!

Neat idea. Bad Execution.. I apparently downloaded this app a few years ago, did it for about 3 weeks, then came back to it. I have two problems with the app and the second is a deal breaker especially since it’s a paid app. First, there’s no way to reset your data on the running plan. Since I restarted running recently, the app kept wanting me to pick up where I left off rather than start at the beginning. Secondly, and most importantly, the running coach and alerts do not play through my AirPods. To hear the question, I have to take out one AirPods and almost hold my watch to my ear when it dings to hear what the coach is saying. Not ideal. I’m going back to the Nike Run Club app.

Awesome way to get In shape!. In the spring of 2016, I was looking for a way to drop some pounds and spend quality time with a girlfriend. I also knew I wanted to be able to run without getting extremely tired. And then came this App. I started walking at 195 lbs in May 2016. By the fall, I’d say October, I lost 25 lbs and could run, YES, RUN, a good mile/mile and a half no problem. I learned how to start small with this app, how to pace myself and it really set the foundation for what I was able to accomplish over those few months. Try it for yourself and see. You’ve got nothing to lose except weight. 😊

Great App. I have been using this app since my gym closed. I love how I can play my exercise playlist and the app muted the music when it needs to give directions. There is one problem that I have experienced. When I reopen the app, even when it goes into sleep mode, it goes back to the last completed run and not the next incomplete run. Twice I had the app open and moved the selection to the run that I wanted to do. I am was interrupted and my iPhone went into sleep mode. I woke the phone and pushed go and I when I was in the middle of the run, I realized that I was doing the one I completed a couple of days before. This bug does not sound like something complicated, but would improve the app.

It works!!!. I was never a runner and I needed to lose weight. I use this app to help me pace myself and become a runner. I started on Sept 9th. By November 1st I was running for 30 min straight. I still use it each day because I like the 5 min warm up and cool down. In the last 6 months I’ve lost over 30 lbs. I just had my annual physical with my Dr. She couldn’t believe how I looked and how my blood work looked also. She asked me to show her the app. If you get up 45 min earlier than usual and you do this before breakfast 6 days a week you will have the same results as me. Best thing I’ve done for myself and I look great. Thanks!

Excellent program!. Thanks to COVID-19, my workout routine became nonexistent. One day I got fed up with feeling my muscles and endurance steadily slipping away so I bought a treadmill. Wow, not running for 3 months takes a TOLL! I got on the treadmill and was NOT where I left off. I had heard about this app previously and heard what a miracle worker it was, but never made the jump. Well this time, I did. And boy am I glad. The app is very user friendly and easy to navigate. The program itself is challenging, but so doable! After every run, I feel refreshed not dead. I feel proud to have successfully completed another round of training. I paid the $9.99 and I am not sorry! MAKE THE JUMP, GET IT!

Pay multiple times for the same buggy app. I’d have given this one star? But felt charitable. I used the app and then, of course, had to pay to get “the full five K.” OK, did that and built up to a five K with the spotty, not terribly impressive app. Still, when I had some illnesses and fell a bit out of shape I thought I’d use it again. Nope. Apparently, it was a time limited subscription, though I recall no mention of that. Now they offer that and a “lifetime” subscription that gives you no credit for having purchased the app. It’s just not worth paying for at that price, anyway. Buy a book and log your runs. You’ll be better off and can listen to music when you run rather than an app that says the same things over and over.

Ran my first 5K through this app. I went from a total non-runner to running a 5K using this app. I ended up repeating some of the days when I felt they were hard, so the first time took me 10-11 weeks. Now, after a long break from running, I’m using it again. The spoken aloud timed intervals for running and walking were a huge help to me; I had tried doing this on my own using a timer function on a stop watch and it was too annoying. The app isn’t buggy and works so well. I highly recommend this app.

Great Program for ALL Experience Levels!. I used to run long distance for many years but have endured a long period of repeat hip injuries and never fully recovering my mileage. This app has been THE game changer I’ve been looking for. I’m on Week 4 and I’ve been able to maintain mileage while addressing any issues with form or discomfort along with way. I’m focusing on my breath work like never before and taking warmups and cooldowns seriously. Great for Zone 2 work and I love the option to adjust difficulty level as I go. Worth every penny!

Gets the job done. While the app does accomplish the goal of building up running ability, there are a few things missing. 1) The app does not sync across devices with your log in. When I’m on call I run with a work phone, other wise I bring my personal device. Not a big enough deal to abandon the app, but this is the only app I have that doesn’t sync on both phones. 2) I downloaded the app a few weeks before I started the program. Once I began, I could not remember where it recommended starting based on the survey. There should be a way to retake the survey and get started on the right day. I discovered 2 weeks in I should have started on w2d1. That stings to learn you wasted week.

Great way to start running. This is a well thought out plan to get somebody from couch to 5K or for me a non-runner who does other things to be able to run 5K. It slowly progresses using visual as well as auditory cues to let you know when to run and when to walk. Builds you up to be stronger. The last work out when I’m running for 35 mins (more than 5K) is no harder than the first workout of 6 mins of running. I think it’s great, we’ll worth it. I purchased it and have used it more than once over the years to jump start my cardio fitness.

I HATED running, but not anymore!. My daughter joined Girls on The Run and begged me to be her running buddy for the 5k even though I had never run before. In fact I hated running...but how could I say no to my daughter? So, I did what every mother would do and downloaded the app and started training. I loved almost everything about the app, the workouts were doable and progressed in difficulty very nicely. I never felt like I wasn’t going to be able to do a workout and I actually enjoyed it! The one thing I would change is for the app to give a distance for the portions that you actually ran (especially at the end when you’re running longer consecutive time chunks). Over all, great app- highly recommend!

It works!. Started 7/24 and could barely run 1 1/2 minutes, finished the program today 10/5 and ran 35 min straight! I recommend this app. It is easy to use. It progresses at a good pace , I only had to do two sessions over. Week 6 day 1 was to be kind....tough! I rested for 3 days then tried it again and completed with no issues. We all have bad running days! Here are a few things to know, the app does not track if you are actually running and does not track your distance past the assigned time for that days training session. You can redo any of the sessions, which was helpful.

Annoying coach. This app is good as far as the intervals go. It’s a great way to work yourself up to a 5K if you’ve never done one before. However, there are a couple of annoying things. First, there’s a coach that you supposedly can turn off in the settings, but sometimes it just turns itself back on (even though the settings still say it’s off). I seriously hate having a fake person cheering me on. I want my music and the bell to remind me when to switch intervals. That brings me to my other annoyance. A bell rings at the halfway point. It’s the same bell that tells you to change intervals, so if you’re not looking at your phone you’ll think it’s time to transition from run to walk. They seem like minor things, but they really take me out of my mindless run.

It’s just ok. As C25K apps go, this is middle of the road. It’s fine. It helps you do intervals. But it’s subscription based (as is everything now) for something that really shouldn’t be. It’s not dynamic. It doesn’t change. The audio coach is a pre-recorded set of very short phrases. They aren’t really helpful. They just say “start running” “start walking” “great job” etc. And they are static and generally lackluster. So why a subscription? The Nike Run Club stuff used to be way more encouraging. It doesn’t offer music. You don’t get your splits. You don’t get any speeds. It’s purely just a method of looking up your intervals and tracking them. If you stick to the plan, you’ll get better at running. That’s how intervals training works. So for that it’s great. But it does nothing to stand out from the pack.

Has multiple versions to buy. This program is great; does what it says, allows modifications, lets me set it and forget it. Even pipes up to encourage me to run randomly. When I got to week 2, I found I needed to upgrade to keep using the program. This was frustrating at the time because my phone took forever to download and I had to wait to run. Also, being in a hurry, I didn’t research my options - and I feel they were somewhat unclear. It seems you can pay between $5 and $12, depending on what you want. Frankly I don’t even know what I paid - I thought the lifetime was my best deal, but now that I’ve finished I realize that unless I stop running and have to start over someday, this will not be much use to me. At this point, having completed the run, I’ll have to pay for the ‘next step’ I decide on. I wish I’d just gotten the 10k program to start, because it doesn’t seem there’s any discount or way to progress from the 5k. So that’s a little disappointing, and why I chose four stars. I’d give five if all the price tiers were clearly labeled.

This really DOES work!. So while on vacation at the end of August I decided I needed more exercise so I went for a run. It was humbling to only be able to run for 30-45 seconds at a time without needing to walk. It was also very motivational! I downloaded the app and figured I’d give a try to get to 5k. I was skeptical but figured even if I did every step 2 or three times I would get there, and if not then at least I was getting exercise. Will I can’t believe it but following the program I was able to get to running for 35 mins (3.53 miles) and only repeated 2 of the sessions. Very rewarding! Now I’m starting the 10K app and looking forward to the next challenge! Thanks fitness22!!

Love it!. I used to be a regular mid-distance runner, but quit running a few years ago after an injury. When trying to start running again in the past, I would generally over-do it and quickly end up injured again. This app has been a game changer as it forced me to really start slow and build my endurance back. I ran 3 days per week and followed schedule exactly. The interval run/walks really break up the monotony and are a lot of fun. I feel like I am a stronger runner now than I have been in years! Thank you!

Totally worth it. I rarely write reviews but this app is simple to use and fully worth the price. When I first got the app I debated paying monthly or paying for permanent access. I’m so glad I got permanent access for one price because I’ve definitely saved versus paying monthly since I’ve used this at different points over the years. I like how the app queues you when to walk and run but you can still listen to your music while using the app. Each run can be optimized by how you rate your run as well which I appreciate (Too hard? That’s okay, no rush to advance yet. Too easy? Let’s do more! Just right? Stay the course)

Too fast paced. I am not a runner. I have used the app 6 times and I am still using the first week times. I wish there was a way to set the run times and amounts individually to a persons needs. I cannot run 8 1 minute intervals. Most I can do is 4 before I just walk through the run times. I’d also like longer walk intervals at the end of the run when I could use more recovery time. The first week should have 5 1 minute runs and 5 2 minute walks. It would help to lessen the amount of running to start off and gradually increase it. For someone who never ran I can barely make the minute run and a minute and a half is impossible for me which is why I am stuck at week 1. I didn’t even complete week one with running 8 times.

One additional feature would have made it perfect!. I really enjoy this app, and it did get me from 0 running to 5k in around the timeframe it advertises. I like that I can play spotify/audiobooks over the app. The one thing that I found frustrating was the pace and distance tracking. The history section shows time and distance for the entire workout including the walking (and warm up/cool down) sections, but it doesn’t seem possible to view my pace for the runnin only portions. The map even shows which parts of your run were running vs walking but I can’t see the details. This seems like a simple addition that would make the app loads more effective!

Great app with one frustration. I really love this app for many of the reasons stated already—motivating, starts easy and slowly builds your stamina. My twin 11 year olds run with me as have gone from never running more than 2-3 minutes at a time to getting ready for their first 5k. The one super frustrating thing missing is the ability to add a missed run. It doesn’t happen often but on occasion I have closed the app by accident and lost everything from that run (and from overall totals). The records are very motivating to me so it drives me nuts that I can’t add in runs that were lost. I won’t buy the 10k or other running apps that don’t include this ability in the future.
