Everything is Locked now. I’ve had Viki now since a little before DramaFever was shut down (RIP) and for the first time ever, I’m thinking about canceling my membership entirely. They have locked almost all the kdramas on the app (new and old)— so now you have to pay double to unlock them. It wouldn’t be as bad if it were just new shows...but they have included older shows as well!! I was in the process of watching a few shows (& had many on my watchlist) I come back and they are all locked!!! Do you know how frustrating that is!??? I’m looking for new platforms now. I gave this app 2 ⭐️ because of the history I have with it. Great shows and things but unless you update to the higher tier one, you are limited in many things you watch. Also I hear that the subbers (people who do the subtitles) aren’t getting paid ...so if I were to pay extra, where is my money even going? Idk. I’m hurt over this. Truly. But if you’re rich lol (not really, just have money to spare) and can afford the new full access version , I’m sure you’ll love it.

The best place for subtitles, but…. So, Viki is literally the only choice I have or am willing to use for subtitles because I trust their teams’ translation into other languages. I love it and the large variety it has of different series and movies from many Asian cultures, which is mainly why I use it so much. However, the subscription packages and their prices are not worth it. I can’t go back and watch my favorite dramas after a while because they’re limited to ‘standard’ or ‘plus’ access, which is honestly very disappointing. With the price and all, plus the economic state of the world at this point, I think I’ll just stick with the free version 😅. With most movie/show-related platforms these days, everything seems to have ‘plus’ side only for those who can pay for it, and unfortunately it seems Viki is no different. I get why they are charging for membership-like subscription packages and all, but it’s just a little frustrating to attempt to return to a drama after a while only for a few episodes to be free and limits to the options I have when using it.

Too many ads. don’t get me wrong this is a really good app. for free you can watch a variety of shows, but there’s just too many ads. for example, i have been watching i-land and flower of evil. the episode are about an hour or so and for every five minutes there’s an ad. but it’s not just one or two ads, it three to four. for every five minutes you are going to be seeing three to four ads, and i rarely see one to two ads. even when i want to pick up where i left off, i have to watch three to four ads as well. it had occurred multiple times where i pick up close to an ad, and as soon as the first couple of ads are over, i have to wait for three to four more to play. like seriously? sometimes i even get frustrated with the amount of ads that i don’t even want to watch the show anymore. yes i understand i’m not paying for viki pass, but the ones who don’t pay should also enjoy their show without as many interruptions. i recommend that ads should be shown every ten or fifteen minutes maybe even twenty. just to make the viewers experience better. thank you.

Latest update August 2019. So upset right now. I was watching a drama and as it was going to the next episode it froze. I closed the app, updated it today, now it won’t long me back in. Every time they update the app, it takes time to get it back to working, 30 mins later I still can’t get back in the app. Very frustrating. I used to use DramaFever before its untimely demise and then paid double to sign up with viki because I have the plus plan and it still has software issues. All these crashes are not worth $100 a year. October 2019 yet again. Whatever update there was did not help. Right now I can open the app but it fails to play an episode. It keeps saying “error retry”. I never had this problem with DramaFever and you could download episode to watch when there was no service. I have been trying to watch a katana for the last 20 minutes but the app continues to fail. If it wasn’t because it’s the only app I can use right now to not watch ads I would have left it a long time ago. I do have to admit that the selection is getting better. Many more dramas are available now that when I first signed up.

Best C-Drama app out there!. I have been using Viki to watch Cdramas since July of 2021, and I love it! The selection of dramas is fantastic- it has basically every show that I want to watch. It never kicks me out while watching dramas, the subtitles are never slow, and (although the ads were annoying), before I got the standard subscription, i appreciated that there weren’t ads every 5 minutes. I’d say it was more like maybe 2-3 ads every 15 minutes. The subscription is super worth it, though. Even if you only watch jdramas or cdramas, it’s still worth it. Although there aren’t very many standard shows/movies for cdramas, it’s much more enjoyable to use the app without annoying ads. I sometimes browse their kdramas, and although I haven’t watch any myself, they have such a gigantic selection of them! Way over 1,000. If you’re into kdramas, then this is the app for you. I prefer Viki over iqiyi and youku mainly because the variety of cdramas on Viki is so much more diverse and they have well over 500 dramas to choose from. Overall, I’d recommend Viki to anyone who loves Asian dramas! 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

No longer able to cast to Samsung TV and LG TV via Airplay. The app has been great until about a week ago. I am no longer able to cast to my Samsung TV and play through a show. Intermittently it will connect to the TV but as soon as the episode plays, it will skip to the next episode and it will just spin. I tried with 3 different iOS devices and all have the same issue. This has never been an issue until about a week ago. I don’t have any issues casting other applications with the same devices. I also am able to cast to my LG TV fine. The issue started happening with the Samsung TV. UPDATE - the issue started happening on my LG TV as well a couple of days after I posted this review. Just to clarify, I’ve had Viki Pass Plus for almost a year and casting via Airplay to my Samsung TV and LG TV worked absolutely fine all the way up to about mid March. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting tips that were provided with no success. I am now seeing multiple folks posting about this issue in Viki’s support forum, and the posts are being marked as solved when it is clearly not solved. My subscription is due to expire next month and if this is not solved, it will not be worth renewing my subscription.

5 for content -3 for technology. I used to love this app. They have the best content for Kdramas, but starting about a month or so ago the subtitles got out of sync when using Chromecast (works fine on my phone & iPad, but who wants to watch it on small screens). The subtitles now show way before the lines are spoken. I thought it was only affecting the older content, but I tried watching Youth of May, which just came out in May and it has the same problem. I watched one show in spite of this issue, but it was impossible to enjoy. It's so confusing when you can't figure out who's speaking. I tried to go to the Help Center to see if I could find out what the problem was and if there was something I could do on my end to fix it, but it's unavailable right now. I wish Viki would put the movie rental business on hold until they could fix the issue that their paid subscribers are struggling with. I'm about to cancel my subscription until it's fixed. What's the point in paying for something that I can't use. I'll just have to settle for Netflix.

Love it!. My go to site for anything K-drama or C-drama! I rather watch subtitled shows on Viki than anywhere else. Which makes it kinda disappointing that Netflix is getting dramas as well. Not a big fan of Netflix subbers. They take out the culture of a drama that are gleaned from the spoken language most of the time. I don’t speak or write either Chinese or Korean but I spent over a decade of watching Asian dramas...over 2 decades actually if I didn’t want to reveal my age, heh! But anyways... I love this app. It’s easy to use. I’d say the only con for it would be the rewatching of a series. I’m the type that gets very impatient so I would most of the time skip the ending credits and go on to the next video. The problem with that is, if I were to start a series all over again, the episodes won’t start at the beginning. I would play an episode and when that is over, skip to the next video only for it to start at the ending credits of that video. That gets annoying real quick. Especially, when I have to deal with a lagging internet.

Love it but still needs fixings. Ok, I like the new design very nice but I have been noticing a few issues for a while that could be fixed. Such as the information section about each show. I noticed that when you go into some series or movie the Regions is not available at the top. The same goes for the total episodes and available episodes. Some series show that information and some do not. There are times I need to Google the total episode amount so I can see how many episodes still need to be aired. It will be great if the same information format is followed throughout the app. I have the new Apple TV which I downloaded Vicki and logged in, when I go to shows I watched it shows I didn't watch it. The Apple TV Vicki version does not match the iPhone or iPad version their not in sync at all. It will be wonderful if they were. I am a Vicki Pass Plus subscriber so it will be great to have these issues resolved. Thank you so much

amazing but has one problem. i absolutely love this app and would definitely recommend to those who want to watch multiple dramas of different languages! it gives you a good amount of free dramas and movies to watch + has a reasonable number of ads for free watchers. the app does have one bug/problem/glitch to it so im going to say what it is bc it’s annoying me a little. ads are freezing and glitching. certain ads freeze on me and i have to exit the app to be able to continue watching my drama/movie. it annoys me because only a few of the ads do that, why cant none do that? i won’t hate on the app for this because it has many various amounts of dramas for me to watch(and i’m desperate😁). but whenever i leave the app so i can exit the frozen ad, the drama brings me way back(further)than where i was watching(before the ad) so when i had to fast forward to get to where i was, it made me still watch the ad. the SAME one that kept on freezing so i’d have to exit one or more times to be able to get a different ad and continue my episode. uh before i started writing this, it happened so i wanted to report my problem in some way. i understand that no app can be perfect but i do hope that this could be fixed!

Good App!. I first found this app when I was trying to find a place to watch “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.” I really like this app! Not only can I watch Kdramas, but also other shows from Thailand or China. I like that you can turn off the times comments because I find them distracting. I also enjoy the cute little names they give the translators for the subtitles! Having the learning feature is pretty neat too! I only have two minor issues with this app. First off is the variety of ads. I understand that since I’m using the app for free I have to sit through ads, but sitting through the same three ads for over an hour gets annoying. The only other issue I’ve had was for one of the shows I was watching, it didn’t have all of the episodes. I couldn’t find the last two episodes anywhere else and was sad that Viki did not provide all of them. But that only happened once. Otherwise all the other shows have been complete! I use this app a lot. Since I’m in college and have some down time, it can be nice to just pull up the app and watch the shows! All in all, it’s worth downloading!

Great Customer Support!. I wanted to leave a review for your Customer Support. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was having trouble with reading the subtitles on my tv app and was unable to adjust the size, font or other settings so I could adequately read and enjoy what I was watching. Becoming frustrated, after doing everything that I could think of to resolve the issue for myself, I sent an email to Customer Support pleading for help. This was on a weekend morning and I was prepared to have to wait for a response. To my GREAT surprise, I had a response within 9 minutes!! The young lady (Joy) who replied was incredibly friendly and provided crystal clear directions for what steps to take to resolve my issue. I had been on the right track with my original troubleshooting, but she was able to give me some further instructions to get it working. Best Customer Support I have dealt with in a long time!

Keep your humanity.. I rarely write reviews, especially bad ones but this is just insane. The app has a great selection of dramas but there are times when dramas all of a sudden switch to Standard or Plus so you could be in the middle of binging one and you can’t watch it anymore. The worst part is the ADS. I understand that’s how Viki makes its money but 6-9 ads in a row after every 10 minutes of an episode is preposterous. There are often 30 second NON-SKIPPABLE ads too. You could literally spend nearly 5 minutes watching ads after watching every 10 minutes of a drama. Not to mention there are times the ads pause and buffer or the screen turns black and it doesn’t even play. I really have to WAIT for the ad to run smooth so I can get back to the drama. It’s gotten worse and worse over the years. I’d say to keep it to 3 in a row MAX and 30 second ads should be skippable after 5 seconds of watching. If this keeps getting worse I may just stop using the app completely. One other suggestion I’d give is for a “drama” filter because right now there are only “TV” and “movie” ones but I’d like to filter out the variety shows. Otherwise the app runs relatively smoothly/ok and is organized well.

Updating needs fixing. I have noticed that if there is a kdrama that I watch several times, it gets flagged. A friend said that she was paying the minimum just to eliminate the ads. Then after awhile she could not watch certain dramas unless she upgraded to the plus. Since I did not want the aggravation, I got the plus right away. I understand that Viki needs to upgrade the app. But I have noticed that several times I would not be able to watch for almost a day even if you keep trying since “something went wrong, please try again” reason. Now I want to rewatch a drama, I can not since the app needs to be updated. So I go to the App Store to update but I could not update it in their version section even when I clicked on all the new. Why is it that it is only on one drama though? Is it because I have rewatched this drama a number of times? Is it because I have the Viki app on IPad and iPhone? I have also noticed that I could not watch on one device if I forgot to exit on the other device. I am getting frustrated with this app so I think I will cancel my subscription to Viki. What else could they sell me?

I love this so much but... Well, I love this really but the first time I came across this I was wondering, “Are these videos made from KOCOWA?” I never got the answer. I noticed that they also have ads that you can’t skip very often. I really like this app but the thing that annoys me is the ads that keep popping up and I can’t skip it. The thing I’m worried about is that if I’m watching a sad scene, the ad will just pop up randomly and disturb the moment. I’ve had KOCOWA recently and this app and KOCOWA was really similar. I downloaded this because it had more ratings. Specifically I was looking for a Korean tv show app that is possible you could skip ads. Like I said, I really enjoy this app. I would’ve given it 5 stars but it’s not exactly what I expected. I really hope you make some kind of change to ads like being able to skip them. KOCOWA also did the same thing. I really really LOVE this app but in my mind it is a 5 star rating for me!

Staying with Viki after all these years!. I have to say, I have used Viki for many years now and seen a lot of changes. Somethings about Viki from my personal experience. When you contact them, they respond. I messaged them on their Facebook Page and got a very detailed response. Also if you request new content they will tell you if they can or can’t get a show. It may take time for them, but if they say they will get it, they get it. You won’t find this amount of content on another site in my region. The subs are done by teams, at least they were. So an upload is raw, then a percentage shows on the thumbnail of how much has been subbed. This is apparently a hard thing for some users to understand, so an explanation of this would be nice for newer users, being that the ratings of shows and this app could suffer, simply because of misunderstanding. So any new users reading this, a new episode is usually 100% subbed within 24- 48 hours. I watch unsubbed and then subbed after. Great way to test your language skills as well, if you’re trying to learn.

Great! But... It’s a great app with a variety of shows and the membership is a reasonable price because of all you can watch with it however the adds are WAY over the top. I get it if you don’t pay for the membership you get adds every application has that but this is just over the top. I clicked on a series and it gave me three non skip adds each about 30 seconds long and I was like ok that’s fine but I was already farther into the series so I wanted to fast forward it and it gave me the same 3 adds when those were finally over not two seconds later it started showing the same 3 adds again like this is insane. No other app has this many adds. I’m planning to get the membership in august but now I’m just getting upset to the point I don’t want to watch anything on it anymore because it’s so annoying. If you decide to watch an hour of shows on this app chances are you’ll get 45 minutes of adds and only 15 minutes of shows. It’s a great app but they could use some improvements so that’s why I can’t give it a higher rating

I have been a paid member for a few years now. So Viki was the first app I had ever used to watch Korean drama and loved it at first ! While Viki and dramafever at one point were the only apps that had really had good and current content I ended up only choosing Viki and upgraded to the Viki pass and have religiously paid for the service for a couple years, here is the turning point for me and why I Probably will end up canceling! So all the people who have been with you early on you now decide that we have to upgrade again and now have very limited access to any current shows or even past shows you have to wait almost a month to watch ??? This is absolutely a slap in the face especially since you are now basically the only contender since dramafever is now gone, which I only know because along with allot of other members we are all probably super frustrated and tried looking for other good apps to watch our favorite dramas! I understand that apps do need to charge a membership fee to keep things rolling and pay your employees but let’s not slap all the members that have already been subscribed and basically take all the content that was available before and now say you can’t watch anymore unless you pay more ! I just think that’s an awful way to treat your customers ?!

Needs improvements. I am a Viki standard Pass member and I really enjoy using the apps but there are a lot of flaws as well. I will be cancelling at the end of this year. First off, I will start by saying I have had a lot of issues with my ads even though I pay for Viki standard pass. I have opened up tickets but it takes so long to get this fixed. The selection of dramas are not great as well. There are a number of new dramas out recently but Viki only has a few of them. There also also a lot of design flaws within the app. The recently watched section shows each episode individually dramas you recently watched. Instead of listing the name of the drama. This makes it difficult to pick up where you left off if you finished the episode last time. You will have to click on her last episode then skip to the episode. Or if I am watching multiple dramas, then I need to show through the recently watched all the way to the other drama. I am addicted to I will watch 10 episodes in a day, then I have to scroll to find the other drama. The main page where they have top picks for you doesn't recognize when you have already finished a drama. The recommendations are dramas that I have already watched, making this page useless to me. If there are not improvements within the app, I will cancel when my 1 year membership is up.

Viki is my go-to entertainment app. Discovered Viki last year and it is a must-have app that offers a broad variety of enjoyable new and classic Asian programs. It is my #1 entertainment App that is portable as is available to go on my cell phone & tablet. I would, however, consider the idea of double checking the English translations for accuracy and better dialogue flow if Viki would contact me. These shows have opened my eyes to Asian cultures and customs that previously I knew little about especially: honorifics, formally confessing Love that seems so widespread with Asians, eating well and sleeping well, soju and wedding and funeral venues. The stunning outer beauty of Asian peoples as well as the inner beauty can be most compelling! It would seem people around the world are the same and we all want to enjoy the good things in life despite hardships and tribulations that sometimes we must endure. I for one enjoy a great story that is not laced with unnecessary and distracting profanity, sex and extreme violence. Viki has provided programming that doesn’t force me to clench my teeth! Thank you for expanding into the American market and keep it coming! I will continue to be your #1 Fan! :)

I LOVEE IT BUTTT the ads :(. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great streaming server and I’m so glad they made it free but the ads !! I’m currently watching True Beauty and maybe it’s because it’s like new or something idk but I get an extreme amount of ads. I want to say I get one about every 10 minutes or so which is fine because that’s what cable TV usually does but when I leave the app to answer a text message or click on a notification and I open the app to continue watching where I left off I get an ad and a lot of the time it’s a 30+ second ad break and when the ad is finally over the screen goes black and the show doesn’t even play and the whole screen basically freezes :( idk if it is my device but it happens kinda often (even after I’ve rest my phone). When I go to close the app because the screen went black and I reopen it and click on the show it plays ANOTHER AD. I have no idea why this happens but that’s about the only problem I’ve been having. Other than that I loveeee the app and I loveeeee true beauty. I didn’t read the webtoon but after this I might because apparently there is a lot different from the show and the webtoon. But all around I would recommend this app to people I’ll just tell them to buy the no ads version or to do the 7 day free trial because the ads are kinda annoying 🤷‍♀️.

Great App But Just Needs A Few Adjustments. I have been using viki for about a year now and it is a wonderful app. Compared to the other ones I’ve used such as DramaFever and Kocowa, Viki is by far my favorite. However, I do wish that in addition with the Viki Pass came the option for watching your favorite shows offline. As I am a person who travels a lot, sometimes, my wifi could be a little iffy causing me to not be able to watch my favorite shows. However, if the option for watching them offline was available, this would not be a problem. I do hope that in the near future, this function will be added. The reason as for why I took off a star is because sometimes, I do experience ads even though I have already watched the number of ads needed to continue on with my video. While I do understand that this could be fixed by buying the Viki Pass, I am hesitant to do so because the option for watching the shows offline is not available.

Subscription worth it; sadly can no longer AirPlay on my TV. I’ve been a member of Viki for over a year, even convinced a friend to get a subscription. We love our Asian dramas! With our differing tastes (she’s into Chinese period dramas; I enjoy contemporary K&J-dramas), there are shows and movies for every one. After plowing through ads during my trial period, I had become a member to enjoy the Viki library ad-free. I’ve had little to no problems with watching on my mini iPad or Samsung TV… However, I recently encountered AirPlay problems when trying to cast a show to my TV. It would play an episode, then after a few seconds it would automatically play the next one. After reading recent reviews, trying to troubleshoot (1. logged in/out of the Viki app, 2. checked WiFi network, 3. deleted/reinstalled Viki app), and researching in the Help Center, I read the AirPlay side notes that said something like AirPlay can only be used on Apple TV and also they’re no longer supporting certain devices and apps on the Viki app, like Samsung Smart TV and Screen Mirroring. (Search “supported devices” in the Help center of the Viki app.) If you really LOVE Asian shows and movies, download this app and pay for a subscription. If you prefer to watch them on a bigger screen, like your TV, hopefully it’s a supported device/app. Otherwise, you’re out of luck.

DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF FANS. VIKI Current Business Model includes lying to its clients! I WAS watching some great performances on a recent drama called Golden Life. However, I’m really disappointed in Viki plusplus or whatever Roku calls it . It is clearly just a way to get us to pay more for what we use to get with the basic fee. DBut now that we are sucked into this lovely drama, they tell us wait 13 days for the next episode, unless we pay a lot more money. Sorry writers and Golden Life crew - after years with Viki , I may cancel my membership if this new business model continues. THIS APP IS currently ratted 4.7 out of 5. I SUGGEST THAT IS BASED ON PAST PRACTICE AND NOT THE new business model recently introduced which as mentioned is a rip-off. I watched through episode 42 and then was notified to see 43 I would have to upgrade or wait 13 days. a few days ago it was going to be six days to see 43 Today I checked and viewers after me now need to upgrade or wait several days to see Episodes 41 and 42. AND episode 43 IS AGAIN WAIT 13 DAYS OR UP GRADE. Just disgusting business practices.

Good but I have a complaint.. First, I really love this app. I am not a pass member, but over all I would say I have a good selection of shows and movies regardless of that. I will say though I was in the middle of watching what’s wrong with secretary kim when it went pass and I was a little angry because I didn’t get to find out what happened. But ignoring that, the ads are my problem, I don’t believe it is anything on my end, but if you think so tell me, especially at the beginning of an episode, say when I am watching descendants of the sun, the show will appear as normal, but then I have to wait for a few seconds then it goes to the add, maybe it was something with the name like frontier? I don’t know, but the add WILL NOT PLAY, meaning I can not watch my show. It is incredibly frustrating, some times this happens, other times it doesn’t, but also recently, I will be watching the show, it will pause, so I will unpause it, then the add will play In the background of the show instead of me watching it. Either way, if there is something I am doing wrong please let me know because that is what’s happening right now so I wanted to tell you because I am frustrated, thank you please get back to me.

too many subscription shows. so i've had this app for a while and it was great, but recently a lot of the kdramas that i wanted to watch became premium. i don't know why it suddenly changed but now i have a bunch of unfinished dramas that i cant watch anymore (one of the main reasons i got this app was to watch those dramas without paying.) it would be better to make the shows that were free a while ago still free instead of changing so many of them to premium. another problem is the ads. whenever i use this app on my phone, i usually get only a few ads or sometimes even none. i really liked that part about viki, but on tv or my macbook, there's so many ads. when i was watching SKY castle, there was an ad every 10 MINUTES. this was seriously annoying, since a lot of the same ads were played over and over again (it was to the point that i memorized the ads and could quote them.) there's also an ad every time you have to skip to a certain part (so if i forget how much of an episode i watched, i could end up watching at least 5 minutes of ads.) and although if you sign in it saves how much you watched, that's only if you're 13 and older. i got this app when i was 12.

Asian Netflix. This app allows me to watch all the asian shows and movies I cannot see on Netflix. It’s truly a great app. It even provides amazing subtitles! Some things that are not so awesome though, you sometimes have to wait till the new episodes are unlocked if the series is on going. Unless you are not premium you have to wait. They also have some ads, but not a crazy amount. They are annoying in the way that the same crying window ad plays over and over or etc. and some things I watch are not available in my country, please fix this. Even though it’s very few shows I would like to freely watch them without having to go on a hunt for an app that I can watch my show on. I think this app would get a 5 start rating if they removed ads and would let me watch certain shows in my area. I don’t mind waiting for some episodes or movies till they unlock, but please, to the developers take my requests in consideration to bettering the app and the rating.

I really love dramas. I feel that the stories are so real that I can get lost in them in every innocence of love and adventure that in current novels, and I like to know the type of life in other places or customs but I also wish it was only in dramas not in the real life, but the landscapes and places have always been beautiful so every time I am fond of knowing which drama I am going to start, but on the other hand a little disappointed because I start by seeing the subtitles in my native language and I end up watching them or wanting to understand them in the language English I think that they should only finish the whole series in the my language that begins in my case is Spanish and it is unfortunate that in the middle or some episodes they cannot be read in the language in which it begin , I hope they can correct it thanks… .. and let dramas continue like this

I LOVE this app, but I have one complaint. Viki is everything you could want and more, especially for those who obsessively watch Asian dramas a lot (like myself). I don’t mind having to pay for a membership every month, it’s not that big of a deal to me. But the one thing I don’t like about this app is that the membership only allows for you to watch certain things and takes away the ads. I feel that if you pay for a membership every month you should also be able to download content for offline viewing. In fact, I think that those who DON’T pay should be able to download and watch tv shows and movie also. Maybe that option has not been made available yet because it has something to do with translation and copyright, but that is something I would advise for those in charge to consider doing. I would gladly pay more for my membership if it included an option to download. I am unable to pay for unlimited data every month, and where I live it is not possible to pay for internet at my home, so I have to wait until I am at a public to catch snippets of a new episode that I’m dying to watch. I’m sure others would agree with me on this. No hate to the creators or those who handle this app, I still love it

Was a good app until. Yes it was a good app for the 3 years I had it everything was mostly free which is good. For someone who has to save money...but now I have been noticing that some of the series I have been watching. are now locked which is really annoying. When before I was able to watch half of the episode of let’s say 10. But when I come back to it it has a lock key on it. I’m like ok guess I can’t finish the series now & move on to any other..but it’s the same I get half way through a series & it’s locked the next day. When before all the episodes where free. That has been happening a lot for the pass 4 months. I’m guessing this app won’t be free to watch anymore which is disappointing because I really liked the app in the beginning . But whatever guess it was good while it lasted. I just wanted to watch Color Rush but it’s locked too. Guess I need to find another app. I wish they would unlock a series that has already been on the app for a year. so other people can watch it for free even if it has annoying ads. I would have recommend this app but not anymore. To much locked dramas that are unwatchable to us with little money to spend.

This is a great app but some problems. So I just started using this app at first it was going smoothly. With a little problems here and there nothing really major. Than I decided to switch up the show I was watching. The new show I was watching was also working smoothly until. I got to the second ad it started to glitch and it had done that before. That means I really wasn’t surprised so I closed out the app like usually. Than I went back on the app thinking that it has had enough time to kinda work through the problem like it usually do. This time it didn’t I went back on the show and I thought it was fine because it started to load up the show but than it went to the ad. It was just frozen and I was confused but I thought I could go to sleep and wake up to it working smoothly again. The next day I woke up and it was still doing the same thing . I have reset my phone, re-download the app and even signed out and signed back on but nothing works . The screen is just frozen on that one ad and I don’t know what to do to get rid of that . I even tried restarting the episode but it just keeps taking me back to that ad screen. Please work out this issue because I really enjoy using this app,

I love Viki but it needs some improvements :(. Although I love the app, before I bought a standard pass it would glitch a lot. It wouldn’t save the episodes I was on and I would have to start the show from the beginning. I thought it was because my Internet but I was wrong and then decided to buy the standard pass for a month. I realized how Little it was glitching. I thought that’s what fix the problem, but that was not it if I try to fast forward or even go back I can’t unpause it and I have to restart my whole phone for it to work again. I thought this was just because my phone was broken or something but then I tried it on a relatives phone and it did the same thing. It’s just really annoying to spend 20 minutes trying to fix it. I’m not sure why it won’t unpause when I fast forward, I am also not sure if anyone has this problem. I always mirror screen dramas on my TV and it’s really hard to watch when it keeps disconnecting when I fast forward. Most of the time it won’t even connect to my TV and I will just load or I won’t even have a pause button. I don’t know I just think the app needs some bug fixes because it is has a lot of lag.

Great content, but crashes or freezes. I have had Viki for about two years in those two years I have had the Viki standard membership, but unfortunately I have had to cancel my subscription but kept my account. The main problem I am running into is the ads. I don’t mind them when they actually play all the way through. But there are certain ones that just refuse to play and then I am sitting and waiting for a 23 second ad that takes 10 minutes to play. It is frustrating, but we understand that you have to get revenue to keep the service free for those who cannot pay for the subscription. But if you could fix the ads from freezing that would be great. The show is 53 minutes long but it takes two hours to watch because a ad freezes up. And it’s not my internet. Update I just uninstalled the app probably for good they just updated it but now when you are watching a show either the ads freeze or the whole thing freezes and then the app shuts down. What was a great app is now so bad that unless you can afford the subscription is not worth having three hours of trying to watch one episode, and it is not my internet because I watch other streaming apps without any of the issues that I am experiencing with this app. I usually don’t leave a review but it’s gotten so bad since the update that I will probably not reinstall. Not unless they fix the bugs.

Almost perfect.. I love Rakuten Viki. There is a nearly overwhelming selection of quality, East Asian dramas and movies at one’s disposal 24 hours a day, and the cost of a subscription is more than worth the investment. However, I have 3 complaints: 1) Increasingly, it seems as though their servers are being overloaded, resulting in loss of connection or lag. 2) Not every Viki application works the same way. The Samsung, FireTV, and Xbox apps all differ in functionality, and one of those does not allow for subtitle adjustments. 3) My worst complaint, though, is that more and more often the volunteer translators are placing vulgar language in where it has no place. I speak a small amount of Korean, but my Korean-American girlfriend is fluent in that language, and we both are finding frequent examples of curse words though the actors and actresses are not, in fact, using epithets. Why do this? These foul-mouthed volunteer translators are turning many wholesome, family-friendly shows into R-rated entertainment. Who wants to hear the F-bomb out of context over and over in a romantic comedy? I can’t fathom the reasoning behind it. Otherwise, I take great enjoyment from the service and I hope it continues to be available for a very long time to come.

It had potential. I came over from Dramafever in hopes to still enjoy my dramas. At first it was pretty good, I paid for the American Plus Oass with Kocowa and thought that I would have access to all the shows that related to Kocowa. This however was wrong. The problem began with the app not letting me watch Kocowa shows saying I was not paying for that, but I was and I checked with Apple to make sure that I was. I was going to contact them about that but decided to wait about a week in case it was something in the app that they were trying to fix for others too. That didn’t happen, and today an addition problem arose. Now I am getting advertisements throughout my shows. This is clearly not acceptable if I am paying $9.99 to not get adds and to watch the shows I want. Anyways I have emailed them, and until they respond to this issue I will leave this comment here. I have heard that some others have tried to email Viki but got no response. So if I don’t either, I will be unsubscribing and getting a refund from Apple.

Amazing App!. I’ve been using Rakuten Viki for several years now, and it’s always the first place I go when I want to watch really any Asian show/movie. The quality and subtitles are very good and they have several new and old shows (in SEVERAL different genres) so you’ll never get tired of it. A lot of people complain about the timed comments, but I really enjoy them and I think they are a great addition to the app. For anyone who reads this and does not like them or finds them distracting, please just turn them off. There are quite a few times people think the comments are live, but that is not the case (telling people to be quiet won’t do anything). And one thing I was very surprised about, is the subbers (the people who add subtitles) work very fast and I was really impressed by them. But overall, I really like this app as it has everything I could genuinely ask for in a streaming app. Good job developers, and new streamers don’t forget to thank the subbers once the show / movie is over!

Honestly pretty good. first of, I downloaded the app because I’m a fan of kpop, And I want to know more about the Korean culture, Movies, Food, etc. So as soon as I download it, It makes you choose an account. And makes you put some other stuff that I forgot. But it’s honestly not that bad as people over-dramatically tell their ‘experience’. But I’m giving you who’s looking at my review, A tour. You get granted with a lot of cool looking dramas. (You also get you choose what you want to watch btw) there’s like dramas, romance 🌚💅, Korean drama, comedy, action, adventure, EVEN ANIME BRUH LIKE THATS NOT RLLY NEEDED BUT ITS KINDA GOOD DOE! There’s even arts and crafts and beauty like what bro- and also! When you enter like a drama or whatever you wanna watch there’s like funny comments aswell, And there’s REVIEWS on the drama. Next is when you click on me, You see like follow your favorite actor, But y’all can do that yourselfs. And I don’t want this to be to long, but there’s also ADS THAT ARE ANNOYING! So that’s my only complaint, hope this helped a bit. Now go read another review

Close to perfect. The app runs smoothly, it never crashes and it’s UI is definitely one of the best. I’m giving it 2 stars though for two reasons. The first being the placement of the English subtitles for shows made in mainland China. I understand that all mainland China shows come with Chinese subs and you can’t remove them, but WHY would you place the English subtitles that are a small white print, directly on top of the white Chinese print!? It’s absolutely absurd!! If you’re going to do that then at least make the background of the English subtitles COMPLETELY opaque not just semi-opaque like it is now! Or put them above or below the Chinese subs like all the other apps do! I avoid using this app for that reason alone. The other app I use the most to watch Asian shows has a horrible UI and not as many shows but at least I can read the subtitles. Second, I really wish you offered the ability to change the playback speed. Not being able to change the playback speed is a very minor complaint compared to the inability to read the subtitles but it would be a very nice addition.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!. Not all episodes of each series you watch will have subtitles. Nothing is more frustrating than watching an episode of a movie only to discover some parts have subtitles and some don't. Even more enraging is watching an entire series then finding out that the final episodes DO NOT have ANY subtitles! I paid to watch AND understand Korean dramas. Viki is clearly misrepresenting their app and the service they provide. Equally frustrating is that VIKI HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SUPPORT TEAM. The NEVER get back to you whenever you report a problem. All they do is send you the same computer generated email with a different reference number each time you report a problem. Their email basically states that "due the rise in help requests, it may take some time to get a response from them". I guess a lot of people are having problems not just me, because I've been asking for help for over 2 weeks now.

Subtitling delay. The only thing about Viki gets two stars it’s the subtitling. If you can only upload episodes when they are done being subtitled this would make your app beyond good. Don’t worry about being fast to load new dramas, new episodes or movies just because they on air. Because not all of us speak nor understands Korean and Chinese so uploading the episodes it’s not doing any good but makes us to lose the interest and frustrated. But if you upload anything with the sub then it makes us interested to follow the story without getting board. And I believe that you created viki app for your English speaker fans not fit the native speakers so if I’m right them pleases consider my suggestion to you. I as one of your English speaker fan will be satisfied and happy if I can watch all my dramas already subbed and I rather to wait for them to be done with English sub then just to watch the pictures. Other than that I love your app and I appreciate your good job and time. Also I thank all your staff and your translation team. Thank you for all your hard work.

ALMOST PERFECT! One subtitle problem.... I love this app! First off, I LOVE that you can try out the app without committing even to a trial, by just watching some commercials. I watched two seasons of a show, completely free, before even starting my free premium trial. So great! I love the comments (although to make it even better, would be cool if they were live comments, like watching it together, rather than just time stamped with the show), I love that I can watch these shows with Spanish subtitles, and I love the shows that are available! I’m not a big tv watcher so I’ve never subscribed to any streaming service before because I could never see myself using it enough to justify the cost. I can definitely see myself using this enough to justify premium! One note though on the premium version: premium allows iPhone users to cast to a chrome cast, which is great because that’s what I have in my bedroom. However, when I cast the subtitles are white with no background like on the app or on the Apple TV, so at times they’re very hard to read. And I would also like the option to show or not show comments when casting as well, because sometimes I like to read them while I’m watching because they can be funny. But the comments is more of a suggestion, whereas I think the subtitles issue is a legitimate need for improvement in terms of accessibility with this app. Otherwise, this is a great app and I highly recommend giving it a go.

Continue your apps. So I used to pay for Viki pass until I realized that I literally could not watch my dramas anywhere besides my phone and computer. Viki has discontinued all their apps for the Samsung smart tv and the Xbox and those are the only two things I have to stream apps. I’m someone who likes to watch things on the big screen and having to connect my computer to an hdmi cord is just so tiring. It actually pisses me off. If you want more people to pay for Viki Pass, make yourself more available to more people. You say that you can stream these dramas anywhere with just the Viki but I’m afraid that this isn’t true as you have discontinued almost all of your apps. It’s useless. Besides having all your apps discontinued, it’s a good app. I use it to watch a lot of great shows like W and While You Were Sleeping, but when I want to watch on the tv so that I can get more comfortable, I have to watch on Netflix which is horrible because all Netflix has are the shows about teen girls fawning over men. So can the creators of Viki just make themselves more available to people like me who have an Xbox/Samsung Smart Tv?

Was great but each update removes a way to know new episodes are uploaded. I would have said a few years ago that this was the best app, but they keep removing things that made it easier to use. They used to have a calendar feature that would show what shows had new episodes for that day and you could select different days, but hats gone. They used to also list when you went into a series the dates new episodes update, but that’s gone too. If you’re trying to find a way to watch newest episodes good luck. You gotta click into every series and open episodes list to see if a new episode has been posted. This is frustrating. It also used to show what series are available and not available for your region in the search, but now you don’t know unless you select the series and then see there are no episodes. There are also shows that have not had subtitles completed for over 4 years, so be careful about a show you choose because you may never get subtitles. It has a lot of great series, but the app features take away from that and often lead me to using a different app to watch/search shows.

Good app but some issues. I want to start by saying this is a really, really nice app. It has a lot of great features including live comments and easy rewind/forwarding capabilities. That said, I have a particular issue with the app. For some reason, when I’m watching videos, it does not show my episode history under “Continue Watching”, on the app. So if I’m binge watching a series for example, if I leave in the middle of, say, episode 6, it doesn’t show me what episode and what part I stopped at. I have to hunt for the series all over again and then remember the episode I stopped at and then forward through the scenes I remember I watched. Sometimes if I go back a few days later, I don’t remember the episode # and that’s a bigger headache. It’s even worse if I’m watching multiple series. I’ve put in a ticket, with no response on it. Update: I thought this issue was cured when I’m using cellular data. But that’s not the case. Whether on WiFi or on cell data, it doesn’t update properly on the app. Sometimes it doesn’t update on the website either but for the most part the website keeps better track of watched episodes even though I’m watching on the app. Hope that makes sense.

WORTH IT !!. i rarely ever write reviews. like ever. but tbh viki is so helpful. when it comes to watching a drama, and you want to know if youd like it or not, the descriptions are so much more helpful than “Two Girls. Trapped in a room. Can they escape?” or something like that. They actually explain stuff. And if thats not enough for you, there are discussions/reviews on the show! AND theres also a spoiler warning feature where if the review/discussion has a spoiler it will block the entire discussion and say “this comment has a spoiler in it” or something like that and gives you the chance to ignore the spoiler warning or not! and theres also a live chat while watching the show so if youre someone that NEEDS to discuss how you feel during a show thats perfect for you! if its too distracting though, you can always turn it off. theres also a learn mode, and it shows you the captions in the language youre watching in AND in the language of your choice. you can tap on characters/words and it would give you the definition. my only complaint about that is, its slightly too big and distracts a bit from the show. but its fine bc thats not why i bought viki anyway !! ALSO THE BEST PART:: MOST OF IT IS FREEEEE some shows are locked (you need the standard pass or the plus pass) but a lot of shows are free, NO CHARGE, NO ADS, NOTHING!! IN LOVE WITH VIKI !!!!! i promise you wont be disappointed if you get it 💪

Love Viki. I love this app so much! I rarely have issues with connection, etc. I have the Viki Plus membership and it doesn’t go to waste, especially this year. My only complaint, is when you are looking for a new show in your watch list, you click on the show to read the description, you might decide you want something else. If you decide to go back and keep scrolling through your list, it automatically goes to the start of this watch list instead of going back to where you chose the last show. Makes it hard to go through multiple to read the description....and sometimes you accidentally click on something and bam, you have to start over. My watch list is very long, so it takes too long to scroll. The format also seemed to have changed. There are times when I want to read about a cast member when watching the drama, but if you click on the cast button now, you can click on one person and when you click out, it takes you to the home page. It wasn’t like that before, you could easily go back and forth, so I’m not sure what happened there. This is the best app for watching your favorites!

I LOVE THIS APP read for some recommendations!. I’m addicted to this app so many great shows ! Definitely worth the money for the pass! If I may angels Last mission:love , to all the guys who loved me, W , while you were sleeping and suspicious partner, touch your heart, the liar and his lover , and Guardian:the lonely and great god are all 10/10 recommendations to watch! I have plenty of others but those are some of my top picks. The app itself works great for me I never have issues. I love that you can follow actors on there and see all the shows those actors specifically are in because there is a few actors I love and it makes it easy for me to see all the dramas they are in! That is one of my favorite features. Any show with kang ki young is usually hilarious he’s a funny actor I watched him in bring it on ghost and i could not stop laughing he’s usually in supporting roles but he’s great ! as for my favorite main actors are lee dong wook, yoo in na, lee jong suk, jung hae in, ahn jae hyun speaking of ahn jae hyun my love from the stars was good he was more of a supporting role in that one tho however none the less a good show ! OH LEE hyun woo in the liar and his lover SO GOOD! Anyways sorry I know I’ve rambled on if you read this all the way through your a champ thank you haha OH developer wise I’d love to see this app on Xbox one so I can watch it on there.

One of the best apps to watch Asian dramas in. Viki has variations of different Asian dramas and even includes some of the dramas that aren’t in many Asian drama sites. Now this might seem enough but a lot of people seem to complain about the ads etc. but every other site has the same options just as a premium membership where there isn’t any ads. Viki does have the viki pass Standard/Plus but If you cant afford it there is solutions to getting it which viki gives. One is getting the free trial to see If you want to get it later or Two which is doing translations, this is one of the most unique thing I’ve seen, Volunteering to do subs and It includes every language there is. This is good for people to get practice into translating and not only that but viki gives special perks one being the viki pass. If you can’t afford it then don’t complain just work for it. Everyone knows one to two languages. You can also learn a language with the learn mode on which is really helpful for practice. I don’t see how this is bad, 10/10 rating for this app!

These one star reviews are ridiculous.. Honestly get over yourselves. Complaining about ads and free content?? I understand that your favorite drama may have been put on premium only or whatever but there are so many good dramas that are FREE!! For example W, My Sassy Girl, Level Up, 100 Days My Prince, Mischievous Kiss, He Is Psychometric, Boys Over Flowers, Go Go Squid!, Love In Time, You Are My Destiny, do I need to go on? So what you have to sit through a total of 7 minutes of ads, you’re getting an hour worth of content. Grow up and stop expecting everything to be handed to you for free. You watch ads for content and companies make money but putting the more popular shows on subscription only. It’s really only the newer popular shows. The only problem I have with this app is that the ads don’t load which forced me to buy standard subscription. But other than that it’s very good.

Subtitles Quicker. Love K Dramas but. I also would prefer to have a series available complete and not having to wait a week for the next episode. There are some who give amazing reviews and l try to find their comments before l watch any series. Is there some way l could look at a series and then just look at their reviews.

Good app but not enough new content. I love this app and subscription is very reasonably priced. The only downside is that there isn’t enough new content. After a while I found every 3-6 months something would pop up that I wanted to watch but in the end I cancelled my subscription. I used it for years but in the end I just wasn’t using it. Please get more new content.

Chromecast connection link is missing. I enjoy the shows on this site, I signed up as it stated the shows were available to watch on my TV through Chromecast. I watched one full series via Chromecast with no problems but since then I’ve not been able to access it as it no longer brings up the connection link option to connect to Chromecast. I checked my plan and it states Chromecast is available on my plan but it isn’t.. I have problems watching the shows on my phone due my disability.. * Is any one else having this problem and you know how to fix it let me know how to get Chromecast back on this site on my phone. It is on my other show sites on my phone and I have no problem with connecting to them, just seems to be this site, if I’m not able to get access to Chromecast I will have to cancel my subscription much to my dismay..

Paid and there’s still ads…. Paid for a monthly subscription, 2 weeks in, they charged me another monthly subscription fee. Asked the second fee to be reversed and then lost access to my subscription and the ads are still coming up. Messaged support and they told me they cancelled my subscription. Explained and snapshot I paid twice, sent them Apple invoices. The first few days they responded the next day, but now I’ve awaited almost 5 days and still no reply and still have ads and no reply from support. Feels like I paid for nothing, money gone down the drain.

You may confuse it with Grindr. The amount of male homosexual content on Viki outweighs everything else. It's fine if they want to be LGBT advocates, however some diversity in that rather than just the B would go far, as it seems the users of this platform get their socks off by objectifying men. With the incredible demand it seems from this homophilic audience, I wonder if male heterosexual actors in Korea and SEA are being pressured into homosexual acts to keep their contracts, akin to the sexual pressures of women in the West.

Not Good Enough. I am sure a lot of people have complained about the restrictions for certain regions. It is really bad, especially for people that pay plus subscription! Developers or management have to response and rectify this issue... got me thinking if the the actual shows that restricted are not really restricted, in fact they are not available at all for all regions, the posters appear to attract subscribers or google searchers!

it this normal? I’m worrying a bit😰. I just signed up for the standard pass, for like $8 which apparently doesn’t get taken out until after the 7 day free trial and I’ve already given them my credit card details but I still can’t watch the newest episode (ep 3) of HIStory 3: make our days count?? Is this normal or should I be worried, could viewers let me know? 😳😰

Awesome but can we sort out the subtitle issue?. Love the app. I like that you can give reviews and edit your own lists. Of course the content is awesome! My only question/suggestion is why publish new dramas without subtitles as this always appears to effect the rating as people give low ratings due to lack of subtitles? Could the distributors not provide this as their dramas are scoring poorly due to a preventable reason? I’d happily pay a bit more too if it meant this could be more professional. Even delay a day to allow paid people to do the job ASAP? Apart from this it’s a 10+ from me

East meets West. I went through a few streaming services as I noticed that subtitles for some of the free ones released either were difficult to watch or translation was not great. Viki releases a lot of excellent dramas so that with Netflix is enough to get the awesome shows available. They seem to be the shows my friends talk about.

Happy customer. I would be absolutely lost without Viki. So many great shows to watch from various countries. I had some issues a while ago & they seem to have been fixed now. Support staff were wonderful & very helpful to this old lady. Many thanks & keep up the good work. Josie 💖💖

Thank you VIKI. I’m a Diehard fan of all Asian movies, shows and series. I was previously watching on Netflix but found they didn’t have enough content available. I’ve found VIKI to be the only subscribed services to be reliable, unless I’m not looking properly. Since subscribing to VIKI I have not been able to watch English shows since. Although my first language is English, I’ve recently starting picking up the basics in Korean and Chinese. Love the cultures. Love how they maintain they’re skincare. Pet hate; people complaining about subs. Just wait for it to be completed instead of low scoring a show. Wish; I could watch all VIKI shows in Australia.

Would be 5 stars but….accessibility worries. Viki is an amazing app and I’ve been using it for quite a long time now (since start of covid :D) Streaming is very easy to do and you can keep up with all the latest dramas even when their on air, that’s if it’s available in your country of course. I’ve just recently bought the Viki pass so I could use their amazing chrome cast feature and access more dramas. However, when I had it streaming I noticed that my subtiles were quite small and had been blending into my show to much which made it hard to see. This normally wouldn’t be a problem for me, but I have recognized that this will be an issue for others with disabilities. Perhaps adding more subtitle settings like shadows or borders for both mobile/pc streaming and chrome cast streaming will help really make this more of an app for everyone. Thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope this reaches you all well!

Love Viki. Only issue is English subtitles are not present or intermittently there, I report issues every time more often than not problem is fixed but i noticed the last few days the English subtitles aren’t there and don’t appear. As for series and movies I’ve watched I have really enjoyed all I have watched great stories and acting. Five stars for the shows and acting 3 and 1/2 stars for English subtitles availability.

Love the App. Have been using it for years and has great Kdramas and Cdramas. I do wish all their content could be provided to all regions though and not have to constantly submit for consideration to apply for licenses. I also wish they could have more filters for genres and options to remove certain genres from the account to be more customisable. Nevertheless I love Viki for its content and on time updates with subs.

Please fix the issue. Hi! Viki is an amazing app where you can watch a lot of dramas which is the reason why i have it. Last night I was watching dramas and everything was working fine until now. I wanted to watch again, but when i went on Viki it suddenly said i needed to connect to my internet. So I did three times until it logged me out. I was very confused so I tried to log back in via google. It’s not working anymore, it keeps saying that there was a log in error, and that I should try again. It’s not letting me log back into my account & I have forgotten my password. I tried on that too but it doesn’t work. Please fix this error as soon as you guys can! Thank You

Unable to continue to watch episodes. Love this app, however, when you close the app mid-way through the show and try to come back to continue watching, it freezes. Kindly fix this.

Mostly good but some annoying functionality issues. Main issues I have with this app is it suddenly not letting me submit ratings or reviews for no apparent reason, and sometimes when casting to the television from my iPad the subtitles will slowly go out of sync and when that happens I need to turn of the television and back on to get it to correct. The first issue is honestly the most annoying, though. Especially when I’ve just finished a show I loved and can’t even rate it.

Great content. I stumbled across Viki during the pandemic and have spent very little time on Netflix since! The diversity and representation across Asian shows keeps me coming back. Viki’s original content is getting better and better too. I like that I can review shows and read reviews as part of the app. My one complaint is that this super popular platform still relies on their viewer base to produce subtitles. It’s not that the subtitles are bad, but you would think given the size of the viewer base and the cost of subscription that they would pay people to sub for them.

5/5 I love this app. My favourite. I use this app more then netflix or prime. Best series ever. I never really leave reviews for apps but I love this app more than Netflix I certainly use it more. Not only can u watch your favourite programs but it’s super interactive. You get short bio”s on your favourite actors and you can post comments about the show love this app! My favourite. you are watching. Love this app 5/5

Viki entertainment. I am so happy to Viki for hosting all these wonderful dramas. It keeps me entertained for many years now. Some days I actually binge watch.❤️❤️✨ I can always count on Viki to keep the platform up to date and good quality pictures. Thank you Viki and your wonderful team of translators.

Amazing app!!. I love this app. It has my favourite Korean dramas. It’s also very entertaining! Many of the movies available on the app are for free!!! The app works very well and I am really glad they have subtitles available for other languages too!! I just have one recommendation, please add rookie historians (it’s a kdrama) but overall would recommend downloading.

Please make it available to Australia. I really love this app. It allows me to watch many K-drama shows that are now some of my favourites. I would have given it a 5 stars rating however I didn’t because there are shows that is restricted to my country, which is Australia (like Hwarang). So I really hope the developer would make it available to Australia. Thank you!!

Hello. I really like this app but the only problem is that I used to be able to watch a lot of shows, for example I remember you and now it says that they are no longer available in my region but my sister has Viki and she can watch things that I can’t. I like the old Viki better I could watch anything.

Great but...... I love viki I’ve been using it since last year but what irritates me is the ads and I know you can get like viki past but since I’m an younger watcher (i don’t know if that made sense) I can’t get it but that’s not much of a big promblems cause it’s kinda my fault for not getting viki past but anyway it’s just the ads are to long and plus the ads are like 20-30 secs long and sometimes there 3 in a row plus a few days ago I had this problem so what happened was that I use the same account on different mobiles and every thing was going great until this on day I was gonna watch a drama and my account was blocked plus I lost my password sheet because I have bad memory so I had to make a new account and it also happened on an other mobile which had the same account so pls can you fix this thx viki

Recommendation for cast to TV. Regarding watching viki on chromecast cast to TV feature, I love VIKI shows but one thing i enjoy on Netflix more is because netflix auto-play next episode feature is perfect. Its so convinient when you are binge watching dramas. I googled to see if I can turn on this autoplay feature on VIKI, staff from viki said the app has to be active and open on current screen on phone for it to work, i tried that too but it didn't work. The autoplay next episode on viki never works (while cast to TV). I have been subcribed paid content to viki for 3 years now. Keep waiting for developer to fix this issue. But so far no luck. I always drawn to prefer watch dramas on netflix more bcoz of this issue with viki. I checked Prime and they have this feature too. Viki is a big company but for some reason can not fix this small issue. I hope developer can read this review and work on it. Thank you.

I LOVE THIS APP!!!. I love this app so much and I’m not here to diss this app or anything, however, I just wish that there weren’t so many ads without having a subscription and all the episodes had English subtitles at 100%. However one reason I downloaded this app is because there are so many dramas that aren’t on Netflix so I can watch them here.

Goood but….. This app has a good range of shows fast translations and even a learning mode but without premium it’s actually really hard to watch the show enjoyably, because most of the ads are 30secs and they play three times in a row and don’t let you skip them. I understand that it helps the app get money etc but at least there could be different ads, not the same as over and over again it makes me not wanna go on the app. But apart from that AMAZING I can’t give 4 or 5 for that one reason too many ads

Pretty good but..... Overall the app is really good and I love watching Kdramas on here but, you have to wait before you can watch the next episode which is fine but, if you don’t have premium, you have to wait even longer which is really annoying. That’s the only issue I have with it and I get that there needs to be benefits with having premium but, instead of making people with normal accounts wait longer, the amount of days they wait is shortened to 3 days instead of 20.

Yes & No. It’s a good app but After last update , almost 90% of New release need Viki Pass to watch . It was nice that older series are offered in collections but where they were free before, now we have to subscribe! Those endless adverts....especially those that play out 20/30 sec and freeze.....we have to start again from beginning!!! Mouse and Bossam already finished but still no free watch. Does it mean we’re compelled to get Viki Pass ?? I also notice that you don’t respond to viewers’ reviews and problems….why?

Release more Kdrama and Korean Movies for Australian region.. To be honest this app is great, streaming is awesome just like Netflix, more variety of kdrama and Cdrama than Netflix. The only reason Im giving it a 3 is because most of the Dramas Are not available in my Region Australia. You pay for Standard service for no ads which is great but at least release more Korean Movies and Kdramas to Australia. Thank you for your reply, understand that this is out of your hands and in saying this updated to 5 star its a great app!

Too much shows are premium. It’s a great app and there are a lot of ads but it’s fine but when half of their dramas needs you to pay it gets annoying and then the other half of the free dramas are the ones that aren’t as good ( no hate or anything it’s just that they always make the shows I want to watch a premium choice )

It's amazing. I really enjoy this app. It has many k dramas that I love to watch and I am able to chat to others. Although it requires internet it makes up for the amazing quality. It also has subtitles which is helpful but my one dislike about the app is that it only provides some and not many over seas dramas. I would like some Thai episodes

No thank you.. There’s more screening time for the ADS THEMSELVES than the movies. I get confused when something that’s supposed to be Brough up but I can’t hear anything because I suddenly need to see 5 ads where multiple FREEEZE for like ten seconds. I’m willing to give this app one last time or I give up. This is just beyond ridicules right now. Even the Paul Bothers don’t get this help from Susan. I’m just asking for a well spaced out and LESS than four adds we have to watch and wait for them to unfreeze.

A lot of shows is inaccessible😢😢😢. I would have given it 5 stars but so far I have paid a year advance for subscription in which there are shows that I can’t even access...why why why??? I am in Australia and an avid fan of Chinese Drama if we have to pay for subscription at least make all shows accessible...otherwise once my subscription finished next year I will not continue subscribing and just watch shows for free even if there are adds on it...!

Missing functions. Just updated the app to see that when I go full screen to watch, all the settings and functions (such as exiting the screen, the current length of video, play and pause button and lock mode) to have disappeared and all there is on the screen is a downward arrow in the top left hand corner. Even when exiting full screen the functions do not reappear, it is absolutely annoying to find out that this wasn’t a problem before the update and now that the app is updated, there is a major problem. Not impressed considering the description of the app update expresses that any bugs they were previously were fixed, however in this situation bugs have been added. This problem needs to be fixed ASAP.

Great but limited japanese shows. Love this app but I wish it had more japanese shows! Even if you have the japanese equivalent of the shows featured in Korean it would be good. Also even with a paid subscription we can’t access shows from the recommended or featured list (created by others) and non subscribers couldn’t even see the shows that we were watching. Maybe the app creators can provide more transparency as to what shows we get when we subscribe. Why can’t we see the recommended shows even after subscribing? I think the region also makes a difference. If you are in Japan most shows are restricted. Love this app just wish there were also more japanese shows too.

Please make these change’s. I personally really like this app but it has so many ads like every five minutes maybe when it says skip add skip ad’s and it stops all of them and at the start of the adds it is a bit pixelated and the same ads are repeating and repeating and it is a little annoying so find some other company ask to have a advertisement instead of google tv ads and PlayStation stuff

Great App! Works Perfectly on iPhone and Apple TV. Great App and HUGE variety of shows… but waiting for translation to new shows is painfully slow, maybe you could pay the translators? Why are some shows not available for specific regions? But, all in all, VIKI IS A GREAT APP! *Please add more Costume Drama/ Xianxia dramas and modern drama from Mainland China (translated into English) PLEASE 🙏🏼😉👍🏼👍🏼

Robber. Careful ! This app is such a robber They offer you 7 days of free trial and cancel anytime But when you cancel it, their system somehow become "broken" and it will charge you for 1 month renewal after 7 days without any notification prior. And when you raise a dispute they will say that the 7 days of trial was not properly cancelled and renewal cannot be refunded because it's already happen (they didn't do any notice for renewal and you will be shocked since you thought that you have cancelled the 7 days trial) 😆😆! While they are so dodgy just because of 8$ but imagine if they do this to thousands people Such a shame Better to have IQIYI at least they're being honest not to fakey niceties give you 7 days trial and then charge without noticing and didn't process the cancellation prior the 7 days end!

Great content, functionality bugs I can mostly live with. Content available is awesome, and the subtitles are great too. The functionality of the app is a bit weird though. On my computer and tv the episode I’m watching sync, and even sync to this app, but anything I’m watching on this app won’t sync to my account on other devices. Also, if I watch a couple of episode in a row the continue watching remains at the episode I started watching from, and that place in the episode. I also doesn’t remove shows from continue watching after you’ve seen all the episodes, this is across all devices though. So there’s some stuff that needs fixing a bit, but I can put up with them so I can watch my favourite shows.

ads that are repetitive and freeze. I first started using this app about 6 months ago and at that point, it was beyond amazing but nowadays there are so many ads in each episode (about 12 or more and these ads are sometimes over 30 seconds. In addition to this, the ads always freeze which means i have to restart the app aswell as the episode and go through ads once again. It is an extremely repetitive cycle that makes it impossible for me to keep using Viki. In saying this, it used to be a very efficient and incredible app that was useful and easy to work. Please fix the issue with the ads as you will lose more and more people if this continues on. thanks for all the work you put in tho ☺️

Ummm idk what’s happening. If anyone know the solution please tell me. I can’t download the app it’s taking forever. I don’t know why it’s doing it so can somone help? I tried different thing but I guess I have to just wait. But I hope this doesn’t happen to other people as well, because if it does, can you guys fix that? Thanks.

Write a review!. I love Viki, I so enjoy the escape into other cultures, the insight and pleasure I’ve gained is immeasurable. I’ve loved watching the development of social issues, and how different each country tackles them. My only issue is that I feel a little protected from some TV series and/ or films that have a rating higher than M15. I really would love to see more…

My Go to for Shows I can’t watch on Netflix.. This is worth every money spent so I can watch my up to date Korean shows and I love what Viki had to offer, I also love the stars and there profiles and then movies and shows are in and also stars they ave worked alongside with. Great app for streaming your Asian movies or Shows

Malfunction. The app used to be so good, I love it! But lately there’s been so many problems. There is Eng subtitles listed 100% but when I watch a drama there’s none. I try to refresh the app and my whole watch history disappears… also the ads run by but there’s no visual image for me to see it or skip it, only audio plays. It used to be such a good app but currently I don’t want to use it out of frustration 🥺

This is really creative!. This app is a life saver! Whenever I see a k drama I automatically just go to Netflix, but now Netflix doesn’t have as much as a variety of shows they used to have:( Working with this app is amazing! Now I get to watch all the k dramas I want for free! This is very helpful to me and my family. Thx soooo much!

Updates are way behind. Love this app at first..but recently got me disappointed because of slow episode update and translation. Im paying for subscription but I have to watch new episodes in facebook first before viki’s updates. I just want to stay with this app just for the reason that i prefer watching it on my tv than in my phone. Hope the admin improve their service

Amazing......BUT. When I first got this add it was amazing ,everything was really good,I was very happy that there was a good app that you can view and the versions weren’t pixelated......but you guys lost 2 stars because sometimes the subtitles don’t match up to what the actors/actresses are saying , also every time I search a drama it says they can’t find it but the drama is very popular and lastly I have no problems with having adds but when a add ends the screen just freezes and doesn’t resume back to the drama . It would be highly appreciated if you could fix this thanks.

Amazing service! Thank you so much!!. This is such an amazing app which has a fantastic array of shows, and all free subs. Thank you so much to the sub teams for all your hard work - I love watching Chinese and Taiwanese dramas, and you have made them so readily available. There's also some great info on the shows and the actors (so it's easy to just watch all the stuff your favourite actor is in!), as well as very easy to use profile to save all my favourite shows. This app is amazing, and totally free to use - thank you so much! Makes it easier for me to try and learn Chinese :D

So many ads.. I love this app, it has many good dramas and is easy to work with. The problem is though, that there is a ridiculous amount of ads. I’ve been on a lot of sites that have lots of ads, but this one has the most. Every like 10 minutes there’s 4 ads. I understand you need to earn money and advertise, but maybe calm down with them. Also, the ads sometimes lag and overlap the drama that I’m watching, which is confusing. Other than that, I really love this app. I would give it 3 and a half stars but that’s not an option (lol).

Video not loading?. There are sometimes where the video suddenly just stops and goes “Unable to play video” completely out of nowhere I and I try refreshing the app to make it work but I think I have to restart my phone in order for it to work again. It was never like this. Why is it doing this????

they changed everything!!. around last year i would use this app religiously but now when i came back to it you have to pay for almost every show !! it’s not worth it i’m so dissapointed

Can’t watch shows that are not on Viki pass. Can’t watch shows that are not on Viki pass

ADD PLAYSPEED. PLEASE VIKI ASD PLAYSPEED I need my thing to go 2x faster thanks

Vraiment dommage. Avant c’était parfait.

Forced upgrades. The new shows that have come out are only on the upgraded pass. Economy is tough right now so not able to pay extra upgrade so cannot watch new shows. 😤💰👎

Awful. I got the app and had a standard subscription, you can’t watch any new shows with out “Viki pas plus” such a money grab not worth it

Overall great but prob with use. Overall the shows available are great. There are shows that have poor endings or appear low budget/ild, but amount of new & recent outweighs this negative. Problem is something’s the synopsis/subtitles are incorrect & when I use it but switch from devices such as: tv to phone or my surface the VIKI cannot determine this even after a half hour. Even if I physically logout of last use. This happens a lot. So I end up watching my Netflix’s shows instead. Horrible that we can only now use 1 device at a time unless we pay more.

I MISS OLD VIKI. They did us so dirty when they made all the shows under the subscription. Why are you forcing us to pay i am really disappointed

Sucks. After 7 days of trial without ads, after paying the subscription by monthly the ads were back, total disappointment

I love it. It’s a great app! No pop ups, just too many ads

literal dog water. you can barely watch ANYTHING without paying. i just stream illegally at this point. also THREE ADS?! y’all must be crazy or something... three adds!!

I’m a little mad ngl. You keep changing shows that I’m in the middle of watching to plus. Now I have to stop watching the show in the middle. Smh I liked this app but haven’t been able to watch a full show.

You did us dirty.. I accidentally updated this app and with ZEROOOOO description on the update. Then it made all the shows on locked so you’d have to pay for it. Literally all the good shows you have to buy. #scammers. Viki passes used to able to watch a show before it comes out for the ‘free version’. Now you can’t watch any of it unless you give them money. Thanks viki, I hope you realize that your ratings have just started to fallen down .

Hi. Can u pls get rid of the ads?

All dramas. I like it when it remember where you left off . Please bring it back

Where have the Hong Kong shows gone?. Flipped this app on because my parents finally are giving AppleTV a go and HK shows like Forensic Heroes are gone. Seems like you guys scrubbed all the Cantonese shows and left the Mandarin stuff. Nope.

Miss The Old Viki. I loved this app for SO many years, it was my go to but you now have to pay to watch basically all shows, there’s no point. Don’t bother with premium, you can find almost all shows online.

This is so annoying. Fix this. I’m not subscribe, so naturally I get multiple unskippable ads. From time to time the ads don’t even play so I’m stuck and I cant even play the ads to continue on. Come on now

Complete crash. Doesn’t launch.

Ok so reply back. I live in Canada and I love viki but the thing is lately viki has been putting so many dramas in like standard viki pass like What?!? Why the dramas weren’t under viki pass so why put it now? I thought this app was good I guess it’s the same money beggars. yes we can go on the web and search for the dramas but viki is so much better why ruin it?!???? WHY????? There are so many dramas I want to watch or rewatch but now they are under viki pass ex: I just finished revenge note 1 and was heading to revenge note 2 well guess what “VIKI” decided to put it under viki pass my parents don’t even buy me a pack of gum let all a viki pass seriously I had hopes for this app guess not. Another reason why I prefer viki over the other sites are because of the comments. The comments are just fun to watch with, with what other people think, and other people being a savage, you can’t find that in other sites like dramacool or kissasian :( viki may you guys please stop putting dramas under viki pass?

wodkdjjejxnss. i LOVEDDD this app but now so many of em are standard and i can’t watch the shows i actually want tooooo

What’s the problem?. Tried to watch the next episode on one of my followed shows but it’s says that I need to update. Just did update but still won’t do..how is that?? It doesn’t even have the lock sign ;(

HUD constantly disappears. The HUD constantly disappears and it's a common bug that has been happening for a few months. Surprised it hasn't been fixed and surprised at the lack of competency from the developers.

Was good, not any more!!. This app used to be my favourite until it became a pay to watch app. The majority if not all the good dramas became premium with the latest update. It’s sad since I really liked this app...

Mad app user. I hate that you have to sign up for the monthly payment it’s so annoying and inconvenient, the app was not good maybe you should just make it free and not need a monthly payment or a credit card to insure that you get to use this app

my review. i have nothing against ads but now i hate japanese scallops. please stop

There so many ad you can’t watch properly . Every 3 or 4 min you gets ad .. So bad experience

Viki pass. Why does there have to be viki pass I can’t watch episode five foe true beauty now it really Unfair

EWWW. so disappointed in you viki! What have you become??? Gonna rate it bad till it gets better

Really? 😐. Pretty sure the episodes were free before (talking abt My ID Is Gangnam Beauty) I don’t think that i had to get „Viki Pass” or whatever it was to watch the episodes cause i just saw my search history and i definitely already watched it, I even remember, yet now i have to pay? Yikes, was much better before smh

Very disappointed!. Paying for Viki pass but it’s useless now because all the new dramas are now requiring PASS PLUS. I shouldn’t have renewed my payment for a year.

it has become horrible. it used to have a lot of ads but it was bearable. now i can't even watch 1 episode because the ads are one after the other and that makes the video crash. i know they need to make profit but still, that's too much.

No chromecast ?. I bought the Viki pass that allows me to have chromecast, but it’s not there. I tried refreshing and even restarted my phone. Can someone tell me what’s wrong with it please ?

No Watching History was recorded. I love everything that you put on but can someone please improve this function. I actually unsubscribed months ago because they just ignored it. What I am saying is that you guys forced us to watch commercial or charge our money without enhancing or fixing problems. I always had to go back to find the episode that I was watching because NOBODY EVER MIND TO FIX the problem that NO Watching history was recorded on my account.

Déçu. J’aime beaucoup Viki mais sa m’énerve un peu que nous devions payer pour regarder les prochains épisode...

the update???. i loved everything about this app. even if there was a lot of ads, it was still bearable! now, i can’t watch anything i want because of the update. change this pls then i’ll rate it 5 star again

Not impressed.. I was watching a drama when suddenly, an ad popped up. I didn’t think much of it but after 5 minutes, the ad was still on the screen. The ad was frozen and I don’t know what to do. I restarted the app, but nothing worked. Not impressed.

not enough selection even when I paid. I paid for a month to watch my kdrama favs but only one out of 5 on my list is there. What a waste of money! It's frustrating to search and it's not there. 2/5!

Viki pass. Yall put too much dramas in pass like W-two worlds? HWARANG?! Witch’s love? While you were sleeping? Girl that can see smells(didnt get to finish btw b4 they put pass on it) Literally every single good drama u have to have a pass for

Standard Viki pass 😡. Viki is a very good application to watch Asian series but why now there are keys to be able to have standard Viki pass ?? On Viki, there are plenty of series that I would love to watch but now the episodes are limited because there is a standard Viki pass, for example "Love lasts two minds" is a Japanese series that I started but I can't watch it until episode 4 because my parents will never want to pay for such trivial things as Asian shows. I thought Viki was a free app so why restrict us? I would really like to continue my series so if you could come back to that, that would be kind of you.

Screen limit bugs mean no tv for you. Viki's single screen streaming limit is not only aggressively unfriendly, it's also very buggy. If you step away from your tv to answer the phone and think you're going to continue streaming afterwards, Viki's screen limit may freeze you out. Did the casting connection come adrift? Did you briefly look up the male lead on your laptop and then close it? Did your desktop flicker to life and then go to sleep again? Who knows! Randomly Viki will just insist that you have too many screens open. It is pointless to go around all your devices ensuring compliance because the gods of screen counting will not be appeased any time soon. Make sure you take your blood pressure medicine and keep iQiyi on your close contacts list.

What a hassle. Does not appear on the subscriptions tab when you want to cancel.

Forced subscription. You won’t have a choice but to pay and subscribe. I was on standard subscription and while in the middle of watching a show Viki decided to change the regulations on that particular show and make it for Plus pass holders only. So I was forced to stop watching it in the middle. There are a lot of free websites where you can watch the same shows. Don’t waste your dollar.

Viki pass isn’t working. I started my free trial and chose a plan and it’s not working. I still get ads and can’t continue my show

Content is great. App is the worst.. Content is great. App is the worst. The app doesn’t save episode viewing progress. Let’s say you stop episode 1 at 33 minutes, well, when you comeback that is not saved so you have to scroll through the episode trying to find where you left off. Have reported this lots of times. Apparently they can do nothing about it.

Really sad.... I start to watch dramas and can’t watch them anymore because you have to become a premium member and pay this is so annoying...

Disappointed. This used to be an amazing app where I could happily watch k-dramas for free because I can't pay for subscriptions, but now every single I was watching is locked. You said it was powered by the fans for the fans, but now it's just powered by greed.

Ads and crashes. There are so many ads and when the ads are done the screen freezes, which leads to the whole episode to crash

Uh viki pass, uhhh no. First off, I remember watching here with my family all happily and free, I get that you need to watch some with money but honestly we just wanted to watch an old drama, and recently like all the dramas need this viki pass, like at least keep some old ones free so we can watch, or let us have a free day just to watch it (wait this much days and then we can watch it, or keep this example working because it didn’t for us etc.); I’m just hoping they would reduce the amount of viki pass because then others like me can’t watch it anymore, and if you say to just buy the viki pass, think of my families situation, this is a bit too much with the pass. -thank you-

Drama Selection. Viki website is an excellent site for watching dramas and movies from around the world that has been translated in a variety of languages, and the best catch of all is that it’s all free. One can’t ask for a better site for drama selection. Choose from Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, American and many other countries then sit back and enjoy in a language you can understand. A word of warning though, you can instantly get hooked on Asian dramas and end up sleeping on your job because you stay up late just to watch one more episode. The drama selections are that good, just remember I warned you, so don’t blame me if you get fired from you job and don’t blame Viki either, just thank the volunteers for their time in providing the free translations. Excuse me while I go choose another Asian Drama with breath taking cinematography, fabulous acting with tear jerking scenes and fabulous costumes

Too many glitches. Seems as if Viki selects which reviews to post. I can’t find my previous review but I see many reviews that give it 5 stars. What a joke. Too many problems with this app and Viki using volunteers to translate into English is almost criminal. Plus, the shows may not be available to the translators depending where they live, which slows down the process even more. Painfully slow subtitles especially if you are watching a drama that is airing simultaneously in a different country. The English often times is grammatically incorrect and the meaning is lost when they directly translate idiomatic expressions. Pay for people to subtitle the dramas in a timely fashion and more accurately. Forgot about the buffering, never finding your spot where you left off, logging on 100 times when you’ve never logged off, being told you need to pay for membership when you do, and having to open and close an episode a minimum of two times for the subtitles to appear. Too frustrating for the money that you pay. Doubt I will be renewing when my subscription is finished.

Flaws. I really like using this app to watch my favorite dramas. It has some good features but there are also some flaws. First of all recently I have been watching a drama I have been interested in Calle “The secret life of my secretary” I am in the second episode but it says that I have to wait about a little more than a year to watch the third episode. The 2 final episodes are going to be out in about ad day but it is a problem when somebody who does not have a subscription has to wait a year to finish watching the drama when the last to episode are already out. The second problem is that when I pause the drama and want to watch it later it does not pickup at the same spot as I paused it in so I have to now look for where I stopped at. This is not really a problem but it is something Would really like . Maybe instead of only being able to search dramas in one specific genre, i think it would be better to choose more than one because sometimes I like to watch dramas that have romance and comedy at the same time but have to like are every single drama in either the romance category or comedy category to be able to find one that I think would like and had both. I hope you can please look into this. I love using this app but it is not good enough to get five stars.

It’s good but…. It’s really good for being free, but there are lots of things that you do need to buy in it if you want to watch certain things but that’s ok, BUT the main thing that’s bothering me and the reason I am writing this review otherwise I would have kept my mouth shut is that within 20 minutes I had 6.5 minutes of ads so I only had 13.5 minutes of watching the actual show and you typically get 3 ads IN A ROW, and that just seems a bit excessive to me and you get them four times for a 30-40 minute long episode and it’s quite ridiculous, but overall it has a lot of great qualitys as far as subtitles and free aspect so I would definitely recommend it if you have any patience for ads at all it will be great. I do think the app is great as a whole tho

Pros/cons. I love this app like so much because everytime I’m trying to find a Asian show it’ll be here and I don’t have to spend hours trying to find what I’m searching for or look for this app has BL’s and straight dramas I’m into BL so I use this app mainly to watch BL’s I can’t find anywhere else that’s the pro some cons about this is majority of them require a subscription it’ll be the best dramas too that u have to subscribe to watch so it’s hard trying to find a good one without having to subscribe I already have a subscription for iQIYI so another app adds onto payments and it’s so much to subscribe to 2 apps iQIYI has more Asian and BL dramas so that’s why I am mainly subscribed to iQIYI but I do love viki and will continue watching non subscription shows on here

Not At Good As Dramafever But Still Great. I have been watching k-dramas for a while now and at one point I had both a Dramafever and Viki account. Having both was great because if one didn’t have a drama the other probably did. However, if I did happen to come across the occasional one where both had the same drama I would usually watch on Dramafever because it takes a while for Viki’s volunteer translators to translate stuff sometimes some never even get fully subbed. Flash forward to today and Dramafever is gone (I’m super sad about this still.) So, Viki is my only source unless one happens to be on Netflix (which is no lie better since the subs get up quicker) but anyways Viki is still great and their partnership with KOCOWA brings in more drama titles. I just wish they’d get more movies and maybe some Thai dramas? Regardless I’ll be sticking with Viki as long as I still watch Korean dramas.

Great app to watch Asian TV. I started w/the free trial, then had the standard subscription! The more I watched, the more I wanted full access to all shows/movies available, so I upgraded to the “pass” subscription and happy I did! I am mainly into the Korean dramas/movies and occasionally watch some from China. Being American, I had rather watch K-dramas more than what we have here in the US! The actors are brilliant, very talented & easy on the eyes! I like that most are just 1 season long with an end, so you are not waiting a yr for the next season. Another interesting thing I have found watching Asian shows is that they will often surprise you with a realistic ending, not always the way you hope the characters will end up! Only drawback I have is that I can’t watch it on my smart TV.

Ads ads ads. This used to be a great app there wasn’t soooo many ads but now it’s like 5 ads in a row and over 15 ads like i was counting but I give up...🤦‍♀️ ugh it’s so annoying like wth stop I would’ve rated it a 4 but no never bc of the repetitive ads 😑 it’s so annoying I hate when they spam ads in ur face as if we aren’t gonna get mad it’s hilarious if they would think that and when I think of this situation I also think of....AsianCrush of course ads spamming like crazy it’s just so repetitive and annoying and nonstop and I’m about to like throw my laptop (watching on laptop) ughhh and what’s up with the dramas that u can’t watch like the link they give for the dramas u can’t watch bc of ur”country” are useless it’s like why even bother ughhhh I’m so annoyed like this is why Viki would be my last choice of watching dramas on 😑

The ads. So…I’m gonna change my review. This time it’s just about the ads, it’s always been a problem I guess. The ads…there are just so many ad brakes in one episode alone. And in those ads brakes, there are too many. There are so many ad brakes and in each of the ad brakes in at least 2-3 ads, I find it ridiculous! If I’m being honest, I don’t think ANY app should have to have THAT MANY ADS! And sometimes, the ads can be quite long. So, don’t take this the wrong way, the app is great! In fact, I watch most of my k-dramas and other stuff here! But..sometimes it would just be great to have less and brakes and maybe 1-2 ads in each….thank you for taking the time to read this and understand (if you did) and I hope that you continue to have the wonderful app!

Currently facing issues on this app. Please fix it.. I have been using this app for years and I never had this problem until now. I currently have the Plus Pass, $9.99 a month, and I still have ads pop when I watch anything. The “Subscribe Now” pops up with the ads and when I click on the Subscribe now, it shows the plans and it says that I have the Plus Pass so I am not sure what they want me to do. When I click on my account it states that I have the Plus Pass and it is also in my active subscription which is on my setting. I am confused on why I am receiving this accounts as I have a Plus Pass plan. Also, I tried to chrome cast to my T.V. but i was unable to since I did not “subscribe now”. I am annoying since this has been happening for a couple days now and also because I am paying for this Plus Pass. Please fix this issue. Thank you.

I love it 💜💜. Honestly at first I thought it wasn’t going to be as good. The first thing I love is that there are a variety of shows for free that anyone can watch, I upgraded to Viki Pass Plus and honestly I am so satisfied with it! There are so many shows and movies available for me to watch! One other thing I really love about Viki is that it shows you how much of the subtitles have been written. It will say either 100% english meaning its all good and translated or some others may say 46% which means its still in progress. Honestly I don’t know why I love that but I do 😂 honestly I would gladly recommend anyone this app. Although it has many good features it has lots of annoying ads in the shows and movies if you don’t have a standard subscription or a plus subscription. So if you’re going to watch a show or movie just be patient with the ads! But all in all I am in LOVE 💜💜💜

Used to be good until recent outage & subsequent mass reclassify free dramas to paid. I didn’t mind the repetitive ads (ie same viki ad asking for subscription repeated twice or a list of its top 5 shows every 15 minutes) at first when there was plenty of free content. However in August 2020, the site went dark for two days without explanation and when it was back up, a flood of free dramas became paid ones (requiring standard or plus subscriptions). So it felt like a bit of bait and switch and left a bad taste in my month. Meant that subscribers who were right in the midst of watching something free suddenly got cut off and asked to pay to watch the rest. So if you want to watch shows that are currently free, maybe hurry up before the dreaded pay wall hits without any notice. As for the app, There are a couple of bugs I noticed too: a)subtitles sometimes gets switched off automatically when the show resumes after an ad. B)Reviews written gets truncated in the final display although attempted to published fully.

Step up your game. Will not purchase higher subscription rate until they get their act together and have subtitles available when episodes come out. This is a business where people pay money and should be treated as such. Be professional and pay people to update subtitles. They promised no commercials when you subscribe and you are bombarded with commercials which is more revenue for them and all the more reason why there shouldn’t be such a long delay with subtitles. I will gladly pay higher subscription once the subtitles issue is fixed and no commercials as promised. Unable to convince my club of 300 plus fans of Asian movies to even subscribe to Rakuten because of too many commercials and subtitles issue which is non-existent with other streaming companies such as Netflix.

Ads play even when I try to rewind to catch all the subtitles. This is getting irritating to watch with ads- but not ready to pay for pass. Trying to watch some of the free shows first, and they talk so fast that it’s hard to read. Then it goes into a commercial and even when I rewind it, I have to watch the ads again. And I can be between my phone and iPad and if I watch a show and wait til after the ads play to switch devices, I’m finding out that I have to watch the ads again on the second device. So I have to make a special effort to turn it off before the ads play, then switch devices. The bad thing is when you go back and forth, wiki doesn’t remember where you are. It remembers a different place to start from, so as you search for where you are in the show, the commercial keeps playing every three seconds cuz I’m scanning the episode for where I’m at. I’ve watched the same chime and with the black lady 15 times in the last 5 minutes,, I’m about to give up watching shows with Viki!

Good but ads…. This is a great service as far as shows are concerned ok you have to join to get the newer shows sadly some times they will give you a few episodes to tease you then block those with no membership I watch the teaser episodes and move on I had a membership once won’t get me back in those murky waters again but since I just watch the free content I was willing to deal with the Ads but it is outrageous how aggressive they are with them fast forward you get commercials they have a glitch you get commercials you put it on pause and come back commercials “ oh come on people “ one day while looking for a new show to watch I spent 15 mins on Ads and 7 minutes on actual movie or series content I once wanted a series on Viki and and you tube at the same time (you tube when I was out) and I realized it took nearly twice as long to watch an episode on Viki than it did on you tube NOT GOOD NOT GOOD

Please fix the ads!. This app is phenomenal! I love it so much, and I even paid for the first premium. I haven’t been able to pay this month, and my ads returned. But, the ads are very weird! They repeat a lot, and one of the ads for Hyundai always pauses at 25 seconds, and 10 seconds for the shorter version. That’s not it, though. For some reason, when I get on an episode of Queendom 2, I get ads right away. If I’m on a minute where ads are RIGHT after (which is common because I don’t enjoy waiting) I get more ads right after! The timing isn’t balanced either. I’d get two 30 second ads and fifteen second ads. It’s such a long wait! Especially for long episodes. Please review this at least! Other than that, I think lowering the premium prices would be nice. I have nothing else to say after that. This app is amazing! Thank you ♥️

Good until it’s bad. I got this app to watch kdramas that may not be available on Netflix. I don’t mind the occasional ad or two, I can silently bear it. What I can’t bear are the ads constantly freezing the app. I’ll then quit the app and reopen, but it will still freeze. When pausing the show for a moment and then coming back to it, ads will always come up! During one scene if I had to pause a few times, I’ll get bombarded by ads and am unable to finish the scene. Because it will then freeze. I don’t know if this is a bug/defect or if by design, but if this is their way of making me pay for their VikiPass then I’ll just delete the app and go elsewhere. Note this is my trying to watch my FIRST show since downloading the app two days ago, still stuck on the FIRST episode of the FIRST show! It now immediately freezes during the ads. Ugh. I’ll just stick with Netflix.

Throughout the years…. I have never written a review or expressed my thanks but just wanted to say a couple of things. I have been a subscriber with Viki for years…almost from the beginning. (I may have canceled and renewed once or twice in this lifetime.) Viki is a great source for k-dramas, c-dramas, t-dramas and a few j-dramas. You can depend on Viki to be a great source of East Asian entertainment. I love how Viki makes the drama available the day after airing. I love how the fans take the time to subtitle these dramas as quickly as possible. I am also thankful for those fans. What’s the icing on the cake is Viki, in the newest version, has made downloading possible. So, just wanted to say “Viki, you’re the best.” Thank you viki. Thank you subbers. You have been there for the best of times and the worst of times. I am thankful.

What Happened?. I have noticed the ease of use diminish over the past year. Before, the episodes easily loaded and this made binge watching very easy. Now, you can’t go from one episode to another. You have to go back to the menu and choose the next episode, else it just replays the one you just watched, or stays on a continual pinwheel, trying to load. It also plays ads more often than it used to. On the free plan an older series can be interrupted 7 times. Before it was one or two. I don’t mind seeing ads, but the same ad 4 times in a row is excessive. (If I see that Lexus commercial with the lady and her fake afro one more time, I’m going to stab my eyes out with a fork.) Ads are pixelly, particularly that Lexus commercial. Not sure if it has something to do with Apple’s new operating system. Maybe the APP needs to be updated. Otherwise, there is still a good collection of films to watch even on the free plan. They just need to improve ease of use.

What the heck Viki? Sudden changes require upgrade with no notice.. I was watching 7 shows on Viki- I paid for the standard pass to get rid of ads. Happy to do it. But last week 5 out of 7 shows have changed to require an upgrade to the more expensive plus pass with no warning whatsoever. Very disappointing. Also I had saved shows in separate watchlists by standard and what I would have to upgrade to watch, but my standard watchlist shows now show more than half of those will also require a plus pass upgrade now. The app itself is easy to use, and I appreciate the subtitles. But I do not think it was a good move to make such drastic changes in what is available without notifying paying customers.

Used to love it but now not so much. The app works well. Unfortunately there’s not much to watch. I’ve been a paying subscriber for 5 years and over the last 2 years the quality and the availability of Korean Dramas (the sole reason why I subscribe) is really disappointing. On top of that the subbing is super slow. At this point I feel really ripped off. I’m getting more Korean content from Netflix and iQIYI at this point. I’ve even subscribed to KOCOWA just so that I don’t have to wait over a week for a show to be subbed. It just doesn’t seem right that they are charging the same amount for a monthly service but are not providing the same quality of service or content. Now if you are new to Viki and Kdrama and want to get caught up there’s tons of old content that you’ll love and they have beefed up the amount of content from other SE Asian countries and haves added (continued to add) a lot of BL. However if your a veteran like me I would say Viki is not worth the money.

Korean pop fan. I have been a Viki member for many years, mainly to watch their Korean variety programs and dramas. Back then, they consistently offered newly released programs although it took some time to have subtitles. Now, they offer more Chinese, Taiwanese(BL), Japanese and some older Korean programs. And in the last few months, they are renting some movies even to Viki members like me. In other words, you have to pay to watch those movies besides paying your annual membership 🥴 On top of that, Viki actively censors comments that are not favorable to this policy🫢🤦‍♀️ So now, other members like me watch most Korean programs in other platforms, after all Viki is not the only one. I can’t wait to enjoy my full return of investment through my annual Viki membership.

subtitle availability…. 1. subtitles are not guaranteed within a certain time period. sometimes they only take between 24-72 hours. sometimes they can take weeks to months. they should pay the people to do the subtitles and guarantee that they are done within 24 hours of uploading the episode or drama instead of just using volunteers and no specified time period for subtitles being completed. when subtitles are finally completed, most of the time they are very good. they are a bit lacking or incorrect at times, but in general when they are completed they are very good. 2. dramas are not licensed for all regions at the same time which means they might not be available to watch. they do not give any notice to when the availability might change either. you can be in the middle of watching a series and then bam, it’s no longer available in your country. 3. also i’ve put in help requests for issues. instead of trying to resolve the issues sometimes they just close them out. the issues take away from the user experience and should be resolved instead of ignored. they’ve tried to blame the issues on a third party instead of taking responsibility for the issue and trying to fix them. while the issue could be due to the third party, that is an issue that viki still needs to resolve with them then.

Worth Every Penny :). I am happy to report that Viki has been everything I was hoping to find in this app. I love DramaFever as well but Viki has shows I’ve been looking for that DF didn’t have. I was skeptical after reading reviews and here is what my personal experience with the product were: Slow loading time? Nope not a problem at all! Completely normal load time as all my other apps. Very fast - barely any wait at all. Annoyance with waiting for the “next episode” button to show? Again this isn’t an issue for me. I just click the “skip ahead” button a couple of times through the credits until the new ep button appears. Takes about 1-2 seconds. The cost? 9.99/month. For me it’s the difference between a huge company like target/Walmart that can afford to charge lower fees (Netflix) vs. a small specialty shop where a few people can find the gems that can’t be found most other places. Their audience is smaller therefore they can’t yet compete with Netflix. It’s all personal taste and for me the app is beautifully done and i couldn’t be happier that these titles are available to me with English subtitles. It is worth the price and I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

App needs work. Retrying to Viki after a long time. I stopped because they moved a lot of theirs shows to another tier that cost even more money. At time the translators were unpaid volunteers that received some membership benefits. The translators were/are the best part. . Sadly app doesn’t work for me. The ad will pop up but it will not start playing. The screen is then frozen so my only option is to close it and keep trying. Had no luck. I can’t watch anything. . Also I’m not sure why the viewers history was removed. It’s such a useful feature that helps us keep track of what we’ve watched. ***update*** Got it to work. I believe one particular Ad was the problem. I clicked on “learn more” and it opened we up the ads website, went back to Viki and video started playing. I skipped forward and got another set of ads. Those played without delay.

fine. The app itself is great. My only complaint is the ads, and I understand why they have to be there but they are seriously the most horribly placed ads i’ve ever come across. After 10 hour-long episodes of wanting the two main characters to finally get together, they’re finally about to kiss for the first time but BOOM and oh, there’s that same excruciatingly long ad again. The same one that you’ve seen 8 different times in the same episode. Atleast advertise something different, because I haven’t gotten a different ad for a week. Or place the ads in places where I can be expecting of it, like the beginning or the end of the episode or a cliffhanger. Please do not advertise me whenever a character is in the middle of saying a word. Great app though, thanks 👌!!

Too slow with English subtitles. I wish I could find a better app, one that allows you to view what you are watching with current English subtitles. Viki is way too slow with the English subtitles. I am watching “Beautiful World and My Fellow Citizens!” and I had to stop watching both because I am waiting for Viki to update the English subtitles. They are way too slow. I am on episode 9 of a Beautiful world and I have been waiting for three days for them to finish putting the English subtitles in. I have been watching episodes 9 a little at a time for 3 days now. Really! Why are you guys so slow. Please hurry up. When the new episodes air all the subtitles should be available for its many viewers. You should not air a new episodes when the subtitles are not available. Viki needs much improvement in that area.

Want to give 5 star but….. I want to give this a five star because there is a lot I Iike about this app. Different ways to search for dramas is awesome! Layouts of descriptions, actors, trailers, etc… terrific! Being able to rate, comment, and see ratings and comments of other viewers is great and I like that I can add dramas to a Watch list. The reason for not having a fifth star is because my already watched episodes are no longer updating and most of the time I have to find where I left off in a drama. Sometimes I am frustrated or overwhelmed with the plot of a drama or one of the characters that I have to take a break to watch something else for a bit but when I go back to it I have to remember which episode I left off. So…. if this can be fixed I would love that!

Viki Viewer for over a Year:. Wonderful! Worth every penny. The volunteer subbers work so hard and sacrifice so much for each show. Viki has great taste in choosing shows and realistic timing in licensing several shows in my region (North America). If the show has aired in its original country it usually is available on Viki within the next 24 hours. Furthermore, if a subbing team was created for said show then you should see 100% English subtitles available within the next 24 hours depending upon the size of the subtitling team and time each has available to put into working on it. Although 100% English subtitles are not guaranteed for every show. Once a team picks it up you can be certain that you can have the option to completely binge it in English shortly thereafter.

Great value app!. I actually don’t like to write reviews however this time I don’t mind writing this review for Viki. I love this subscription and wouldn’t mind paying for a membership. Having able to watch plentiful selections of CN and Korean dramas with subtitles truly wonderful. Although some of the translations seem don’t have same context as the dialogues but these aren’t major problems. I truly understand translation isn’t easy at all. I’m grateful for hard works. Only complaint I have is the commentaries of others members at the top of the screen. They are annoying and bothering, especially when some commentaries were silly. 😌 Update 10/7: OMG, the developer responded so quickly about the timed comments. I received an email giving me instructions how to turn off timed comments. Yeah! ✌️✌️

Love the app, hate the glitches. So I wanted to say before I talk about the glitches and stuff, is that I truly do enjoy using this app. I get to watch a lot of some of my favorite k-dramas and I discover new dramas/movies that I end up enjoying. It has such a good variety of shows/movies on that app. The problems that I do run into while using this app is that it will kick me off of the app and log me out of it. This has happened to me only twice, but the biggest problem is that when I go to log back in to the app it won’t let me. I would type in my login information and it would pop up as an error, so I thought that maybe I didn’t remember my password correctly. I would press the “I forgot my password” button to send myself an email to reset my password. I would reset my password and try to log back into my account and it still wouldn’t work. I don’t think it has anything to do with the fact that I’m not on the Viki pass but it may have just crashed, I’m not sure.

great free service but the ads. So i’m fine with watching free streaming apps with ads but Viki has an overwhelming amount of ads and it makes my phone glitch. For example i’m rewatching a show, so i click on an episode and it starts to play some ads (i would say 3-5 ads) and then i am able to pass back the slider to the beginning to rewatch the episode BUT it then begins to play another 3-5 ads which is really annoying. It plays ads every 10 minutes throughout episodes and the ads make my screen go black (i can still hear the ads but cant see them) and when i try to exit out of the app when my screen goes black nothing works (even my home button and power button). I would like Viki to fix these bugs and glitches and reconsider the amount of ads and how often they come up. Thank you for reading.

I’m in kdrama heaven. I got Viki a year ago and it’s great so far. Great variety of classic and new drama. I love to see my favorite actors in their first dramas . I love the comment features and other innovative features , watch parties are nice too. I haven’t found another Asian drama app with these features. The price is affordable . So as long as all the above is included I will keep supporting it. I barely watch any other type of movies or series. So tired of oversexed shows. I do have a suggestion, do not automatically start the next episode, let’s say I fall asleep while watching chapter 3 and the next day I’m on chapter 5 without having watched 4 and 5 because it kept playing though the night while I was asleep , you can put a 10 second timer and I can choose to play next episode or not. otherwise I love everything about this app.

Ads interrupt videos, but then freeze (don’t display). Rakuten’s Viki has lots of interesting Korean content, which I enjoy. The Viki iOS application does a reasonably good job of playing that content, but … there are two things which are incredibly annoying, so annoying that in fact I hate the app. 1)the free app (without in-app purchases) periodically interrupts the videos with video ads – repetitive ads for things that don’t interest me (for example, for a store that has no storefronts in my state). 2)The ad servers don’t serve the ads properly – often, the video stops, and only the first frame of the video ad is displayed, and then stays frozen for many seconds, sometimes a minute. And then when the ad finally does play, it often stops, waiting for the streaming content to arrive. If you’re going to interrupt the show for video ads, they should be damned sure that the ads actually function. These fail more often than not.

Best App for Asian Dramas!. I appreciate their wide variety of, not just k-dramas, but also Chinese, Taiwanese, etc.. dramas, as well as variety shows like The Unit and Running Man! The ads are not nearly as invasive as other streaming apps—they happen fairly regularly, but they’re super short and there’s never a (1 of 3) ads situation where they’ll layer several ads into one break so it ends up taking entire MINUTES just to get back to the actual drama. I left the app for a while as the ads started getting more frequent and I was having problems with ads and pages glitching out. However, they seemed to have fix these problems, and it’s even better than before! Definitely my favorite drama-viewing app, highly prefer it to mainstream drama apps like DramaFever and the like. Highly recommend!

Content and Comments. The content on Viki is generally of excellent quality across a broad range of genres. But what truly distinguishes Rakuten Viki from other streaming services is the social component, enabled by interactive, real time comments. Sometimes the comments will make you LOL; other times a viewer will share a perspective or will point out a detail that other viewers may have missed. On rare occasions one may find the comments intrusive and they often contain spoilers. But it’s easy to disable comments when watching a movie or show if you want to. I keep the comments on and enjoy the social experience of exchanging commentary with other viewers around the world. I also like the links to artists’ bios and industry news; and ability to curate a fan collection. Keep up the great work Viki!

Adds. I love this app, and downloaded it just because I wanted to watch dramas and maybe get a bit more exposure to the languages. Now I don’t pay for the pass because I never really minded adds. I understand why and I get it, but it only gets annoying when I first pull up the app and go to watch a show, the add with just freeze on the first frame. Like it will stay like that for a solid minute. I pull my notifications down to get it to pause and process and press play but it will just sit there. It gets until a point I close the app and refresh it and the same add will pop up and freeze. The worst thing is it only happens to a select few adds but that one add always shows up, 2 out of the three are almost always the same stinking add. The freeze also happens 3/4 of the time and just makes me want to give up. If I’m going to get adds please make them acutely load and not just sit there and be unable to get rid of.

Does not save viewing history in Apple TV. I have been using Viki for over 5 years to watch dramas. Loved using the mobile app while I had unlimited data and time to stream dramas during my commute. Our household now has an Apple TV and I appreciate most of the app experience on that device except that it does not save my watch history from Apple TV. if I watch an episode it does not show on my previously watched info and no matter what device or app I use Viki on, it does not let me pick back up at the spot in the episode I left off at. I have to manually fast forward to that spot in the episode when I start it again. I find that really annoying because sometimes the site or app crash or have to be quickly closed and I don’t have a chance to check what time I’m at in the episode to find it later. Lots of wasted time trying to get back to the spot I stopped at. Love the crew at Viki and wish them many more years of subbing for us!

ads have trouble loading. I had used this app with a subscription for a while and i absolutely loved it the app is easy to use and has a lot of shows i want to watch and it functions just as well as other big apps like paramount+ and netflix but i cancelled my subscription and left for a while and now that im back and dont have the money for a subscription atm i am watching with ads which wouldn't usually be a problem i dont mind the ads much but for some reason they take so ridiculously long to load and sometimes they dont ever load and i have to open and close the app and i have fairly quick internet and never have this issue on any other app so i assume its something that may be able to be looked into and fixed but other than this i love this app ive used it for years with no issues until now

Frequent technical problems. Semi-frequent outages aside, I’ve discovered that watching via Chromecast is probably the most stable way to watch shows on Viki. The content is great and I look what they offer. (Full Disclosure: I pretty much just watch RM). That said, using Chromecast isn’t without issues. For example, only the classic style of the style of subtitles is visible when streaming from iOS. Any custom subtitles don’t work properly and are barely visible. However, my biggest issue is that my preferred way of watching on Apple TV is plagued with bugs. For example, when autoplaying the next episode, the Apple TV app always starts the episode—not at the beginning—but at the same time stamp of where the prior episode left off. The technical glitches are the main reason I don’t subscribe to Viki Plus on an annual basis—instead I restart my monthly subscription every month or so... The frequent technical problems are a red flag that I may not be able to trust the Viki app to work for an entire year.

Yasssss!!. I love Viki and have been a loyal fan of this app for a few years now!!! I’m a huge fan of Asian shows and I love how they give you a taste of everything at the tip of your fingers. I must admit they have improved the content and this app a lot and offer viewers a great selection….. the only thing I wish is that they would offer more Japanese and Korean shows…. It feels like there is more Chinese dramas than anything(I’m still not mad though). I also wish they would offer an additional like feature and a recommendation based off what you love feature. So when you absolutely love a show you can click a heart and then when you find yourself in a show hole there is a whole section that gives you the best recommendations of dramas based on what you already love. But seriously because of this app I can’t even go back to American television… it’s so good!!!

Good app. I use this app to practice listening skills in my mandarin learning journey. The App is great and it’s free. Tons of ads on the free version tho, which is understandable but I hate how if you already watched an episode, when you click the episode it’ll start off with like 3 or 4 ads and then it’ll start you off at the end of the episode since you already watched it (it’s trying to pick up where you left off), then if you rewind to the beginning it will make you watch 3 or 4 more ads, so sometimes you will waste literally 5 minutes or more watching ads before you get to the show. But I mean it’s still free so really can’t complain but it definitely feels like a little overkill with the ads.

Historical Films.... I absolutely love to watch Chinese and Korean historical films. I learn so much about the Asian history, culture, language, etc. And watching them over the past 10 years or more helped me to understand more fully the history and culture in the USA. I know lots of USA citizens like me who also love to watch Asian films. The ones I watch do not show explicit sex, which pleases me, but I do love the fighting scenes in the historical films. My first watch was Dae Jo Young. I watched it a million times. My most favorite historical film is Jumong. I have also watched it a million times. Within the last year, I tried the Chinese historical films, and I love them too. Your movies have cross culture appeal. I read people checking in from all over the world to watch them, and that’s mighty cool. Thank you for all that you do!

Not what I expected.. A friend of mine suggested that I try this app since I watch Hong Kong dramas as well as korean ones. I’ve been using it for about a week or so and despite the heavy amount of ads, I really liked it initially. I usually don’t like leaving reviews unless i have tried the product/service for a short time period. Just when I was going to leave a good review for this app, my mind changed yesterday: the app, both on my phone and through my Roku was glitching all day. First you couldn’t log in, it kicked me out. Then after a few hours, I got back into my account but no movies were loading up or it would keep saying I have the outdated version. Which was not the case since no updates were available. I can understand that maybe there were issues being fixed. But I logged on this morning and the shows I just watched and/or in process of watching, are all now membership required. It all changed to no longer free. Was that a tease that they didn’t tell you about? Just so you start watching and now it’s no longer free? (And I’m not referring to the 1 wk free Pass Trial either. Just the regular watching with ads.) Not sure if it’s still the company fixing the service, but if it’s mostly fees only now, I don’t think the company was right to not explain the limitations on usage at the beginning that most shows are free for about a week. If it changes or fixes soon, I will update this review. I hope it will but we’ll see.

ads could improve…. I love that the developers are opening this app for free and joy of any charge to those wanting to watch K-dramas. I’m currently watching Mouse, and ads ruin the mood SO MUCH. I rarely ever complain but this is too much. there are 3 ads in one row and it really makes viewers like me annoyed because a few ads are fine, yet not when it’s often every 10 minutes. I understand it covers the costs for us being able to watch movies and shows freely. however, I wish it were better. For us to enjoy actually watching, there should be a limit on ads :/… one second im watching something incredibly sad and next I have to go past an ad that’s 30 seconds long (each 3 of the ads) Creators, please understand and do something about controlling the length and occurrence of the ads. Thank you.

I hate this app if I could give it a 0 star I would!!!. Hate hate hate this app I can’t even fully enjoy the drama that I am watching and when I want to comment the commenting thing goes up like can’t I just comment normally like hello can’t I comment on the app like other platforms does it really have to go up can’t the comment bar just stay in one place? when I sent the comments it goes up and it’s so annoying because when I do it in a full screen the screen becomes smaller after commenting 😑 and it’s hard to watch it and the ads they get stuck I have to refresh it SO MANY TIMES just to have the ads get unstuck 😑 I am a broke high school student so I can’t pay for the subscription yet but at least you can make this a free app for some time. After watching that drama I am deleting it I just downloaded it to watch that one drama because it is not in other websites (illegal) websites like (drama cool) but now I just need 1 more I gotta bare with this app HATE IT 😡

Things I have encountered. I love the dramas that Viki brings. Here are some issues I have encountered: 1. The drama once loaded seems ultra sensitive to touch. When trying to open up full page viewing on myIPad the screen many times goes back to the page that has info and the “more episodes” selection. I have to be extra careful to press the full screen symbol or I’ll be thrown back to beginning of drama page. 2. Have difficulty telling which drama I have already viewed. Sometimes the word “watched” but many times there is just an amount of time left in the viewing. Sometimes I use the 10 second icons to fast forward or backward. Don’t know what I might be doing to cause the episode to not just indicate watched. Another site I use has a red line that easily lets you know if you have watched the entire drama or where you stopped. This is better.

So far great but one problem. I just got this app today. So far, it’s very good. The video quality is high, it’s easy to find the one you’re looking for, and the sound quality is great. Those are all amazing without premium, so thanks for that. One thing that has been annoying me is how there’s ads during the movie. Instead of playing them throughout the movie, could you put them all at the start? What I mean is 5-30 second ads and you can put maybe 4 or more of them just at the start, and then no interruptions for the rest of the movie. But also make sure not every ad is 30 seconds because then we’ll just be sitting there staring for minutes, and it will go by slower than it should, so probably do like 1-2 of the 30 second ads, 1 of the 15 second ads, and 1 of the 5 second ads. I think it’s reasonable, so please take that into consideration. Overall, really great.

They became extremely GREEDY. So it was pretty good at the start but then they started to make every show require you to have a plus pass before you watch it. Like why are old shows requiring a plus pass. It’s only a matter of time before Viki will require you to have a plus pass to watch basically any show, because it seems that the direction they are heading. I am actually very disappointed in Viki because it’s obvious they have become extremely greedy. I’m might cancel my membership because I am actually very annoyed. Shows I have t even finished watching are no longer accessible to me because I require a higher pass. This treatment is disgusting, Viki was once a very good app but right now it the worst app. All they want is your money regardless of how long you’ve been with them. I am so disappointed and disgusted at the path that Viki has decided to take. If they stay in this route it is only normal and expected that they will lose their customers and be kicked off the market.

Volunteers Give the Best Translations!!. Let me reiterate: the volunteers give the BEST translations. I would rather wait for their translations than have someone you hired give crappy translations. It is very obvious that with Jirisan and Uncle, the translations are not done by the volunteers because the translations are so incredibly off. I’ve watched K-Dramas on many different platforms, but I prefer Rakuten VIKI because of the translation accuracy. Platforms like Netflix and iQIY paraphrase too much, and for someone who is trying to learn Korean, it doesn’t work. Jirisan and Uncle are newer dramas, so I’m hoping that VIKI keeps the volunteers, and the crappy translations from whoever else isn’t permanent. Volunteers do a MUCH better job (they even include translator notes to explain), and they aren’t even getting paid. Please continue to employ them, or better yet, pay them like they deserve.
