Will not work after updates. One of my favorite chord apps that unfortunately will not work with the updated software on your iPad or iPhone. It crashes immediately. I'm very disappointed that there has not been an update. I have the printed copy and use it all the time and was really looking forward to having it on my electronic devices

Rip off. Bought this app and it never worked. It crashes immediately. Does not open at all. Tried to report a problem to Apple and can’t get that to work either. DO NOT BUY THIS APP!!!

Fantastic!. The real deal. This is the ORIGINAL! "Chord Wheel" finally brought to the iPhone. I've been using the original printed version of The Chord Wheel (published by Hal Leonard) for over three years, and this app version is even better! The guitar and piano chord voicings make it even more useful for noodling out pleasing new chord progressions for new songs. I'm using it on my iPad2 (with 2x scaling) and it works great, looks great! As a guitar-and-voice songwriter with absolutely no music theory background, I'd pretty much given up on myself ever learning music theory in this lifetime. Amazingly, The Chord Wheel is releasing me from the constraints of that limitation and making sense of it, as I noodle around creatively experimenting with new chord progressions for new songs. Unlike GarageBand, where I'm sometimes limited to a constrained subset of chords, Chord Wheel offers the full range of chords, they are all available, but there's a mapping that shows me what's going to work well together and why. Great app! Helps you bust out of your old habits and discover new musical combinations and progressions. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! A great creativity tool for any songwriter or musician!

DOESN'T LIKE iOS9 ??. Crashes on my iPhone 6 and iPad Air2 which I recently updated to ios9. Developer needs to get this sorted out! I would really like to reverse this negative review!

Where are the promised updates?. The app mentions more voicings and more instrument sounds.. When are we going to see those?

No longer working. Love the Chord Wheel. Got the book. Had to get the app. Now this app doesn’t work on my iPhone. Start the app, and it just exits. It used to work fine. Need an update to make sure it works.

What's going on?. This is one of my all time favorite apps! I use it all the time. Out of no where, it crashed. It's not opening. I've tried it all. Restarting my phone, deleting the app, downloading it again. Nothing is working. Help?!

Great app. Neat training aid that helps me transpose songs on the go. Handy to have as an app. Save me tremendous time transposing songs for band.

Nice but a few bum guitar chords. The wheel is a helpful layout for writing simple major/minor progressions. Piano sounds are bold and in tune, and sustain for two good legato whole notes while you consider the next chord. However, some of the guitar chords are well out of tune, and one or two of the diminished 7ths are downright wrong on guitar. But the majority are OK. I stick with the piano. This would be excellent tool if there was a simple way to toggle any chord to and from its 7th, 6th, sus4, or 2nd/9th — or maybe add the note on the keyboard (which in inactive and purely decorative). But overall the wheel is a nice idea for establishing harmonic context.

Can’t believe Apple hasn’t removed. Waste!. thought I’d buy the app instead of replacing the paperback. Don’t make same mistake. App is 4 years old and the pics aren’t even from the actual app. Waste of 6 bucks.

Big disappointment. I was expecting this to be like the book that it is based on but it's even less useable. The price is entirely too much for the limited functionality and it took me too long to figure out how to use it to begin with. Not intuitive at all, it would have been better to just take a picture of the book cover instead of spending so much on this.

Does not run on iOS 9. I used to love and depend upon this simple and useful app. I would rate it 4 or 5 stars if it could run on iOS 9.x. Ever since my iOS was upgraded, Chordwheel simply does not run on my iPhone 6.

Crashes Immediately - Don't Buy!. Foolishly, I bought without checking reviews. Ridiculous that publisher hasn't fixed this as it apparently hasn't worked since 9.0 update or something like that. PLEASE UPDATE. You're stealing money from those who don't go through the hassle of a refund or hold out hope for a fix.

No Sound - but still useful for transposition. I loved this app when I first got it. But now The sound does not work on my iPhone 6, and it appears the app and the website are no longer being updated. But the wheel still turns, so it's still useful for transposition and, to a lesser extent composing. You just can't use it to listen to chord combinations. It's kind of like the app has been reduced to an iBook.

This used to be great. This app used to be great, until I updated my phone's software a few months ago... It hasn't successfully opened since, & is now completely useless. I'd like for it to work again or my money back.

HORRIBLE! Does ***NOT WORK***!!!. Well, I'll be the first to say that this is "seemingly" a perfect tool for what it describes to do, HOWEVER, why put something out on the market for SALE and collect people's money for an application that is incompatible or useless ? I would love to get a refund for this, but even after reaching out to the developers, there is unfortunately a lack of product support. Perhaps they have some ironing to do with the coding or programming left to do, who knows. But my advice, save your money and DO NOT BUY this useless application. One star because the idea was nice, but I guess if you'd buy a pretty car with a non-functional engine with the intent to travel--- good luck, God speed! Hopefully they care enough about their customers to address this ongoing issue.

Crashes with iOS 9. It's a wonderful tool. I own the book and wanted to have the app to use while traveling. I paid the money for it and ever since the iOS update, the app won't even open so I can't utilize it anymore. Please fix!!!

Was Nice But No Longer Opens. This app came in handy before the iOS 9.1 update; now it no longer opens. One star because it's been awhile since the update and I would expect that this should have been fixed by now.

The update doesn't work. The new update doesn't work. After i updated the app it wont work i press the chords in the wheel chord and theres no sound

Not bad..... This app is designed for intermediate and above level players. If you do not know how to find C, C7, Cmaj7, Cm, and Cm7 chords already, then I wouldn't bother with this app just yet. This app is designed to help you find those "breath of fresh air" chords which will help you resolve your progressions. This app will not tell you which notes are in a chord! So if anything, this app would be a hinderance to you. Learn all your notes on a piano and or guitar. Then learn the five previously mentioned chords/triads. Once you get a basic understanding of where all the chords are and how to find them, learn some basic progressions such as I-IV-V and III-VI-II-V-I. If you are not familiar with anything I just mentioned, then this app really won't help you much since you will still have to know where to find the chords on piano or guitar. With that being said, this app has really helped me resolve a few progressions I've been working on. I have found this app very useful.

No sound on 6s. PLEASE FIX!. This is a $7 dollar app and a total waste of my money if the sound doesn't work. I will certainly come back and enter a 5 star review if fixed, as I am sure I will use it religiously. I already bought the book and use it all of the time. Thanks guys. Please fix asap.

Needs update. Used to work fantastic with the previous iPhone. However since I updated the IOS I haven't been able to open it. Needs update ?

Great App!. Just what I wanted; the original chord wheel. It even plays the chords when you tap them, which is nice. It does not, however, show the chord. Perhaps that should be the next upgrade. I don't like switching between chord wheel and guitar chord apps with every chord I play. Thia is a great app though. Maybe it's a little expensive.

Great reference tool. Sound is touchy. The chord wheel concept is an invaluable reference for composing. The app currently does everything the paper version will do for half the cost. Unfortunately, the extra sound function, which would be really cool, only works if you just barely touch the screen. I mean like barely touch it, almost so that you don't feel the screen. If you tap as you would the keyboard on your phone it will never play. This makes it impractical to use so it may just as well not work as other users have said. It would be an awesome feature to be able to find the key and chords for a song idea just by tapping your phone. Like have a piano or acoustic guitar in your pocket. Please fix the sound guys, if the sound worked right, i'd pay double.

Like the app. Problems with iOS 8. The app's audio quit working upon updating to iOS 8. An update to fix this issue would be great. A year later and now on iOS 9.3.2 and an iPhone 6s+ as well as an iPad mini 2 it still does not work and no updates. I used to enjoy this app for trying out chord changes. Come on guys, it should be a minor thing to fix. Other apps can play audio...

Great app. Very useful for me as an intermediate player who has been self-taught. I wonder why the VI (V of ii) 7, sus4 isn't also marked. Seems like it would be appropriate, but perhaps there is logic to its omission...? There's some latency in the chord playing but overall quite helpful!

Wonderful app for vocalists and Solfège. I am vocalist who is trying to learn solfeggio. I purchased Jim Fleser's book, "The Chord Wheel", (published by Hal Leonard), and this app. LOVE them both. I sing in a choir, and have difficulty finding the lower harmony part, as I sing alto. My habit is to sing the melody, or soprano part. My whole reason for learning Solfège is to try to find and hit a lower, harmonizing note. The great thing about this app, for me, is that when I play the sequence of ascending notes in a scale, (each one a chord), I can hit the root note of the key. It is the fact that the scales ascend in chords that makes it easy for me to find my starting note. That is why I use this app, rather than a piano app, when I am singing with a choir. The book and app are great for trying to add solfeggio prompts to musical scores. For example, if I am in the key of D, I set the dial to the key of D. Then, I can see at a glance, that I - Do - D ii - Re - E iii - Mi - F sharp IV - Fa - G V - So - A vi - La - B vii - Ti - C sharp I also learned a lot about major scale diatonic 7ths. Thanks for the app!

What I was looking for. I was looking for an app that could show me any chord progression in the major keys, and this was exactly the app that I was looking for. The play function is a little clunky on the app, but generally it works well and satisfied my expectations.

Interesting app. This is really a great app. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the fact that it's incomplete, since it doesn't include the same setup with minor keys being the tonic.

Great app. I'm so excited to see this app! For years I thought it should be easy to make an intuitive chord wheel app but couldn't find one that was easy to use and display all of the info I was looking for. The only thing it's missing is the note numbers in the scale. A lot of chord wheels online show a small Roman numeral to represent the chord number under the letter. That addition would make this a 5 star app. Edit: Go through the tutorial. You can zoom into the key signature

No iOS 9 support.. Love this app but it hasn't been updated for iOS 9. If you try to run it expect it to crash on launch. Unusable. Too bad.

Could be a lot better.. The app needs a lot more development to be worth the money. You can't adjust basic things like the screen orientation that s permanently stuck on portrait mode. Also would be nice to be able to change instruments instead of only having piano and guitar. If you're looking for something more useful for reference, writing and practicing I'd say but the Tonaly app.

Works awesome for me!. I just bought it after having the book. At first I was worried with all the bad reviews, but an impulse had me go ahead and gamble the $6.99. Glad I did!! Cool.

Stopped working. Does not work with latest version of IOS on my iPhone 6. Too bad. Have the book but it's in tatters now and was hoping this would fill in. Email developer never got a response.

Totaly a WASTE of Money. Totally NOT worth the money (I agree). Less than 1/3rd of the entire wheel is shown. Have to pinch to see entire wheel. But, then it's too small to see. And this only works on the iPhone. It may have been useful if it were written for the iPad. As it is now, it's pretty useless. I wish I could get a refund!

Works great.. Great tool for songwriters and producers. I had the book for years and this is a million times better. Not sure what all the moaning is about from the other reviewers.

Please Enable Rotate to Portrait Mode. I bought the book and will find the app useful as well. I’m happy that the issue with the sound has been fixed but would like to be able to use the app in portrait mode. Landscape feels clunky and using the app in portrait wouldn’t mean the wheel is obstructed in any way. It’s just a circle. But the device you’re using would be more comfortable in hand.

Hasn’t worked once. I payed for and download the app today and it hasn’t worked once. I was able to get the splash screen once which stayed there till the screen timed out and every time I try and run it now it instantly exit, not even a splash screen. Had high hopes.

Waste of Money- Don't Bye!!!. I paid for this app 5 days ago and it never worked. I emailed Jim Fleser the same day I purchased the app and asked for a fix or my money back. I have not yet got a response, and don't expect I will. Read the reviews before you pay for this app as it truly is a waste of your money.

LOVE IT!!!. This app is great. Much more easier than just looking at the paper. But i would love for you guya to update this app. At least let it show you the minor scales of that scale and also to be able to show you the scales that you tap or double tap.

Crashes on IOS9 and poor support.. Contacted developer on app crashing in IOS9, not much communication back, no time frames on when the app will be fixed, a lot spin in the email but no sign of fixes, a real shame because the app when it works is great. The developer needs to COMMUNICATE, and let people know what is happening if they are going to continue to support this app.

could be better.... the principle of the chord wheel is great, though this app doesn't do a whole lot. why not highlight the notes when a chord is pressed? add midi output and this app would be amazing...

Pretty Good Chord Wheel App. This app is pretty good. It is rather expensive for what you get though, and it is always upside down on my iPad. Also, there is something wrong with the C chord, as it is strummed too slow on the guitar. I also have The Chord Wheel as a printed book, and there is more of an explanation of its use in the printed book, however, the book has no sound. The sound inclusion in the app makes it more useful, and it is less than half the price of the book, and I can use it on my iPod, iPad mini, or iPad Pro. So, all in all, it’s pretty good, but there is room for improvement.

Awesome, but.... This is a great and simple-to-use app. My only complaints are the lack of a proper options page, e.g. font resizing for the explanation of the chord wheel, toggling the sound, etc. No complaints otherwise. The chord wheel itself is fantastic.

What a waste of $$$ !. This app doesn't work with newer iOS versions. The owner does not have the courtesy to inform unsuspecting users like me. Keeps collecting money from people though...

Sound not working. The app's sound function is not working on my iPhone 6s. I contacted the developer about a week ago regarding this issue and have not heard back from them. This simple app cost $10, you could at least expect some tech support.

Cool App. Fail on sound.. Very handy for chord progression analysis. Using this on iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.2. The chord sounds don't play (and yes, I have the volume turned up.) Big fail for a $6.99 app.

Great tool for musicians. I was already using the "paper" version of this tool, which helps a lot in understanding scales, chords building, progressions, and the so important cycle of fifths. I am now very happy to have the Ipod version, so flexible and always available! Being able to hear the chords sound is also great. Richard M.

Ugly and disappointingo. I have the book in front of me. I paid $7.39 for it on Amazon, including shipping. This app is not the book. The menu is crude, the tutorial is far more brief than the book and none of the images are scaled for my ipad air2 resolution, resulting in very pixelated background and menus. The menu icons are ever present and there's some silly option for a zoom 1x or 2x which doesn't zoom at all - but zooms out to an even smaller resolution. The options don't save and the sound clips for many of the chords have pops and clicks. I would not recommend this app to anyone who is unfamiliar with the book. This was a simple thing, shame it got botched.

Great chord wheel. I love this and it’s helped me write creative chord progressions. Recommended for all musicians and songwriters. Would be nice if you could add the modes like that dial a note circle of fifths turn thingy on amazon.
