Jesus Calling Devotional App Description & Overview

What is jesus calling devotional app? Jesus Calling is your yearlong guide to living a more peaceful life. The Jesus Calling App is the mobile version of the time-tested classic packed with digital and audio features that make this daily devotional more accessible than ever.

Experience a deeper relationship with Jesus as you savor the presence of the One who understands you perfectly and loves you forever. With Scripture and personal reflections, New York Times bestselling author Sarah Young brings Jesus' message of peace—for today and every day.

By spending time in the presence of the Savior with the much-loved devotions from Sarah Young, you will:

• Feel comforted by a daily word of hope and encouragement
• Be reassured of Jesus' unending blessings and love for you
• Receive gentle guidance based on daily Scripture readings
• Connect with Jesus further with reflection and meditation based on God’s Word

Written as if Jesus Himself is speaking directly to you, Jesus Calling invites you to experience peace in the presence of the Savior who is always with you.

These writings are personal reflections based on Jesus’ own words of hope, guidance, and peace within Scripture—penned by one who loved Him and revered His Word. The Bible is the only infallible, inerrant Word of God, and author Sarah Young kept her writings consistent with that unchanging standard during her lifetime. She wrote from the perspective of Jesus speaking, to help readers feel more personally connected with Him. So, the first person singular (“I,” “Me,” “My,” “Mine”) always refers to Christ; “you” refers to you, the reader.

Update has made it totally unusable. Update has made it totally unusable the way I’ve been using it for the last 3 years or so. I have been listening to it read to me before my eyes are fully opened each day. I have found that to be such a sweet & inspirational way to start my day. So much so that I have not missed a single day in all that time. However, now I’m unable to highlight it to hear it as audio (or to share the text with my husband, who is an over the road trucker, gone for a month at a time) I saw the audio option at the top but it doesn’t work for me & the directions that pop up, for restoring my purchase, didn’t work either. When I purchased the app people warned me, that an app where they would charge so much, shows greediness. I defended it because I saw the value in it but with this situation, it kinda feels like a way of trying to get More money out of those who have already purchased it. The 3 stars are for the value I’ve gotten out of it until this point & the 2 missing stars are for the value that I feel has been taken away 😔

Horrible Update!. I love this app. Truly I do. It’s the first thing I read upon waking in the morning. However, this new update is horrendous. It’s not user friendly and more specifically, the overall look and feel has gone from soothing to harsh. The daily devotional doesn’t even appear right when you open it but you have to click on the one you want, there are no color changes that depict you’re actually reading a devotional (looks like a boring document you have to read for work) and I miss the italicized scriptures. Scripture is so very important and it needs to stand out as such. I’ll continue reading this as the content and correlating versus truly do speak to me on a daily basis but why try to fix something that isn’t broke? Go back to the way it was!

Jesus Calling joining the subscription movement. When I first downloaded the app a few years ago, I paid for access to the daily Jesus Calling devotionals—it wasn’t something that was free to begin with. I think I paid $9.99 or about what it would cost to buy a printed copy of the book. Tonight, I opened the app and now, to access the devotionals, a subscription is required?! After I already paid to download the app?! I’m so disappointed in whoever controls this app. I understand that everyone needs to make money somehow and, if the app wasn’t already a paid app, I would sort of understand charging a fee. But almost $60 a year for a monthly subscription? As far as I know, the content doesn’t change from year to year, and I don’t want the magazine and the audio and all of that. All I want is to be able to access the devotionals to read before I go to bed every night.

Perplexed. Hello there, It was saddening a couple week ago that the daily devotion couldn’t be accessed with out a subscription to all Jesus Calling devotionals. The option to have a choice to keep what has already been paid for, is always a good option. The one I really enjoy the most is Jesus Calling, Peace in His Presence, as I’ve purchased other Jesus Calling devotions in a store where I live. The option to not keep what I had, I did delete the app and I do have the devotional book, so I started reading it again. The choice to be able to show others when I’m not at home, was a wonderful way to witness to others about our precious Savior! With a few friends, we love this particular devotion and talk about the daily devotions often, have shared them as well. I started praying as God can change things, if it’s His will. Looked again and praise God, the option to read the daily devotion is now back! Thank you for listening to the Holy Spirit, as answered prayers are always blessings! I lost my 5th child, my only son, in January of this year and the words of encouragement and peace help tremendously with this loss. Praise God for inspiring Sarah Young!

How to share what you read.. I found out how to share what I read daily to other people. The way I share what I read is by pressing on the center of the page that you were reading and holding your thumb there until you see a bar that will appear on the screen and then click on select all, it will highlight the entire page and then at the end of the bar you will see share click on the share button not the link and that is how I have been able to share this with many of people. As someone posted earlier when you click on the share link all that shows is the books from Sarah Young which are truly amazing every last one of them. I hope this was of some assistance to anybody that’s trying to share something that they read for that particular day. God bless you all God bless the world because Jesus is Lord!!!!

Truly disheartening. I am so saddened and disheartened that the devotional that I paid for years ago and have enjoyed reading almost daily ever since is no longer accessible to me without a subscription. That is literally like buying a book in a bookstore and then ten years later, the author walks into your house and takes it off the bookshelf. I’m disheartened because I know the words Sarah wrote in Jesus Calling are so divinely appointed. I can’t imagine falling so far away that you choose to withhold those words from the users that paid for them, all in hopes of making a few extra bucks on monthly subscriptions. I do have the hard copy but I like reading on my phone first thing in the morning before I even turn my light on. I’m urging you to reconsider this decision. Please restore access to those who have already paid for it and just trust that God will provide for you financially another way. I can’t tell you how many times Jesus Calling has been exactly what I needed for the day ahead or to fall asleep after a difficult day.

My thought. I liked it better when I was able to copy and paste these beautiful words. Now I am unable to share. Before I would copy n share whether it be to Facebook,Instagram or directly and I know many that waited to see what I wrote. Many asked me where they could find and I would share the book by directing them to buy or buy the book for them. Sometimes when souls are wandering and searching for meaning getting a taste to feed their hungry souls is what is needed…. Sooner or later they finally figure out what satiates that hunger they search for. I have always called this my “Jesus horoscope” no matter when it always speaks to me for that day… it’s uncanny… but as I always have said… Jesus knows ❤️

Bait & Switch Money Grab. Save your money and buy the hardcopy. This app is a money grab. After a year and a couple months, all of a sudden I have to renew my subscription. Why would I need to renew my subscription on a book I've already read? There's no new material. Why would I have to pay more to read the same thing that I read last year?!! Also, the interface is horrible. It's like they've never even looked at their own app typically with books, including daily devotionals you can swipe left or right to scroll from page to page--not here! If you want to see the next day or the previous day, you have to hit the back button and then you have to scroll from January to whatever date you're on now you have to find it like like closing the book and having to find page 324 when you were on page 325. Ridiculous horrible app. don't waste your money. Buy the hardcopy if you want to read "Jesus Calling."

Angels are at work here.. I just wanted to say that this book, of which I have a hard copy as well as a hard copy of the Jesus Listens book, have gotten me through some of the most perilous times in my life…..I grew up in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos during the Vietnam War, raised a JW through the Missionaries in Thailand. I have leaned into it, cried into it , and supplicated through its words! I’ve also learn to lean heavily on the only One who could help me during these uncertain times…..I must say, it’s the only reason I didn’t end my life years ago because of horrific personal losses like Job of old, lack of love for myself, and fear of what the future would bring. His words are His, I feel it it, resonate with it and I cherish it! Thank you Sarah Young!

I don't like the upgrade either.. The new layout feel impersonal. I don’t like the historical view of where I have been, I would rather the app show today’s devotion when I open it. I used to share info on the devotions with my family, especially my sons who aren’t reading devotions each day. I own the app and 4 additional copies of the book. I have given them the copies of Jesus Calling as well. I know they don’t faithfully read it daily, but they did read what I sent. It is unfortunate I can’t continue to feed their faith using Jesus Calling. I am also not as dedicated to the app. I now go other places for my daily readings. It is a shame you figured out a way to stop people from sharing God’s Word so we are able to let those we love know how we are touched by the Holy Spirit.

You Messed It Up Again😩. This is the second time that you all have messed up the app. It was working perfectly as of 2021. But now, with this last update that I just did May 2021. Now I’m not able to select all and copy the text to send to my loved ones who don’t have smart phones. And that is why I only gave three stars. I thought the goal was to share this word, More so then share the link to purchase this word. I am thinking about deleting this app all together and just copying word from another source so that I can send in a text to my love ones. It would be okay, if when I use the link it would allow my loved ones to read the entire passages for the day, but it won’t even do that. I hate this last update for this reason. It won’t even allow my iPhone lady (Siri), to read the passage to me anymore. That is a MAJOR no no! Sincerely; Frustrated Subscriber. 😩

God talking. My wife and I read Jesus Calling together almost every evening before we retire. We love the way the thoughts are directed as from Jesus himself. We have faced many difficulties in the last six months. It is usually before bed that we discuss our conundrums, trying to make sense of them and find some hope. I cannot tell you how many times after we discuss these problems and finding no solution, the old frustration races it’s ugly head and steals our peace. It is then that I usually open up Jesus Calling and read it out loud. God often directly answers or addresses our conversation, foolish doubt, and unbelief. He speaks straight to our dilemma as and tells us what we need to hear. The scriptures included with the devotion, almost without fail, confirm what God has said to us through the devotion. We were particularly seeking God’s peace at the start of this new year. So many times God addressed that topic in incredibly relevant ways, confirming what he had been teaching us. Almost every evening we can’t wait to open it up again and see how the Lord speaks to us that day. I can’t recommend it enough. Craig Bodenschatz

Still issues with ‘improved’ app. I just updated the app to deal with the frustrating issues all the recent reviewers have been mentioning. However, there are still issues even with the most recent update. When I go into the book content to read a day that is after the current day in the calendar, it takes me to the subscription advertisement page and does not allow me to read that reading. That is still not acceptable since I paid for the entire book (app) a long time ago. Thank you for being responsive and fixing the major issues but please fix the remaining issues as well. In addition, when I clicked on app support in the Apple Store page for this app, it did not take me to anything like support for the app, rather it took me to more information about the book itself, and more opportunities to subscribe. It seems the only way to get help on issues with the app is to leave a review or email the publisher support.

Here We Go Again. I had already written, rewritten twice, the developer was kind enough to respond and fix the greed issue and here we are again, three weeks later with the same issue. The content is locked unless I pay AGAIN when I already paid the first time AND purchased two of Sarah Young’s devotional (including this one) and one for nurses given to me as a gift. I love the convenience of being able to read daily anywhere. This morning the remainder of the content is LOCKED unless a purchase a subscription and pay monthly or yearly. Who in the world wants to have to make ANOTHER payment?! I would send the screenshot but this does not allow that feature. Please stop this greedy foolishness. Now I am going to delete this app AGAIN.

No longer use this app. Just went to monthly subscription. Just deleted app. Not user friendly any more. For a long time this has been my number one go to app. I literally read Jesus calling every single morning. But they made a lot of changes and it’s really not user-friendly anymore. At this point, I really don’t think they care of people read it or not. They have not addressed a single one of the issues, and if you look at the reviews, there’s a whole lot of people that are upset with the changes that they made. Heaven for bid you have to miss a day or two navigating back to those days is horrendous. I hold out hope that they will fix all these horrible updates, because it really was a great app before they “fixed” it.

Now you have to have a subscription?….. I have had the full and complete Jesus calling app for several years now and it has always been a five star product. I paid roughly $16 for this app when it was purchased. But now you’re telling me I have to pay a monthly/ annual subscription fee? This is ridiculous. I bought this app, which was more like a book, when I was going through a tough time in my life and have continued to read the same daily message year after year. Well now, over night, you’re turning to a place of attempting to take more money from people that have already paid a premium for this app. Ridiculous. I will not be subscribing to this nonsense. It really stinks that you have had to move to charging people. I hope others will not pander to this new platform either.

The perfect way to start your day. I have started my mornings with this app for over 4 years. I absolutely love Sarah’s way of presenting God’s promises in such applicable, easy to understand ways. Almost every day it’s as if it were written just for me. For what I am experiencing or going though. I highly encourage anyone considering purchasing this app to please do so. I also LOVE and have the Jesus Calling for Kids app on my boys phones and we are able to discuss each days reading. It is the same as this version but written in a way that is easy for kids ( and teenagers) to understand. So, if you have children I definitely would get that one as well!

Sent several emails but no fix or response. My review isn’t about the content, because it is amazing. My review is about the lack of response from this company and no fix to the problem at hand. I’ve had this app for many years and have loved it. About 6-8 months ago, the original audio I paid for, for Jesus Calling stopped working. I’ve emailed the company several times and I’ve had no response. I’ve deleted the app and redownloaded all content several times to no avail. I now have a new phone and it still doesn’t work. I bought the audio because I suffer with chronic migraines and have a very difficult time reading at times. Listening is sometimes my only way to spend time with the Lord. I’d rather you fix this issue but if you can’t, please refund my money. Thank you!

TERRIBLE. I wasn’t sure if I was the only one who passionately disliked the new version. I see that there are countless new reviews letting you know how much we detest it. Not one single positive review. This version obviously failed miserably and you need to go back to the drawing board and start over. In the meantime, please give us the prior version back, until you can incorporate your desired new features into the old design. I don’t know what happened here, or how anyone thought this new version was a good design, from its inception, nor can I comprehend how the persons in charge of making the decision to go forward with publishing the new app version could have responsibly approved it. Based on the overwhelming negative reactions to the new app, someone needs to ask some hard questions. Until new developers can be hired, can we please have the old app back?

Very disappointed. I purchased this app several years ago. I had full access to all content, looked forward to my daily devotionals, saved messages that I wanted to have quick access to. However, several times in the last two years I have lost access to the content I had already purchased. Sometimes it happened at the beginning of a new month, or a new year, or with an app update. After much frustration and many tries I was often able to access the content again after a period of time. At this point, it has been two months since I've been able to access the content. I've removed the app, I've re-downloaded the app, I've restored purchases, I still can't access anything past January 7. I emailed support, received no response in over 30 days. I finally realized that the publishers of this app decided money (in the form of a paid subscription rather than a one time payment) was more important than people actually counting on them for their daily devotionals. I wonder if Sarah Young would approve of this choice. At this point, it has become a clear sign to move on. It's apparent that God has another message intended for me. Sadly, as much as I appreciate the Jesus Calling book and enjoyed the convenience of the app, I won't be able to recommend it anymore.

Please bring back old version!. I use this everyday and I love the book. I liked the old graphics of the app, very calming and inviting. I also liked how the app would automatically flip me to “today’s” page. The new app looks like a business document and is very clunky, it all doesn’t fit nicely on one screen, the words are small but the spacing is way too big between paragraphs. Also, you cannot flip to the next page anymore, which is frustrating. Instead, you have to go back to the table of contents and scroll all the way down to the page you are looking for, which is very frustrating. Please reconsider some of these updates. Thank you.

Give me the old jesus calling devotional. I have given probably 200 Jesus Calling books to our wounded warriors, police officers and people that God leads me to that need Jesus. I have purchased apps for people and now with the update, it messes the entire premise of what Jesus calling app is susppose to do. You have gone commercial with the app and that is why you get 2 stars. We need one app for the devotional that we buy and have it come up on the day that we want to read it. I pray for direction on which devotional that I lead my group. Probably over 100 daily readers from our precious military and now I have gotten feedback that the app doesnt work. Please go back and make it non commercial. We know you have all of these books but we dont care. If we are led to buy them then great but dont force us to go through the hoops of a newsletter and daily words that we are not interested in. I want the day9today devotional to come up when I press on the jesus calling app. Blessings to you

Changes. It is hard on old people when you keep changing the format. I know market research probably shows that people love change and they buy and use the app more when you keep changing it, but I am Just noting that in my case, that is not true. Unless there is An improvement, which I don’t see in This format. In fact, although I have read Jesus Calling every morning for years, I have recently stopped looking at it because I hate The format so much. It is harder to read, the demarcation between scripture and comment is not Detectable, etc etc. Still give The contents Five stars, but I hate The formatting, maybe Because I am old and don’t like change. I don’t know! Just voicing my opinion. Take Care, dear Friend And Mutual God lover!

The Book is Amazing; the App is Terrible. I first off want to start by saying that this book (Jesus Calling) is amazing. I read it nearly every day and do feel like the Lord is speaking to me through it, reminding me daily to seek His face. I started reading this book at the suggestion of a friend at my salvation, and have not stopped since. I started by reading the physical book—loved it so much that I thought to go to the app. Here’s where it gets tough. I had to purchase the book again on the app (understandable, kind of like buying a book on Kindle), but I have to jump through hoops to access it. I can only go to my library, and have to scroll all the way down. I used to be able to just go to the corresponding day. There have been a couple times that I tried to even access it through the “library” tab and it said that I had to buy it (which I already did), so I had to delete the app and reinstall. I tried contacting app support but received no response. Everywhere else in the app, it says I have to buy the book or get a subscription. So again, not having trouble with the book itself. It’s amazing. It’s just that this app is frustratingly not working properly.

Make it a Daily Habit & Watch Your Life Change!. My son was given this as a gift for his Confirmation 7 years ago. He was a young teen who hardly shared much back the. It made such an impact on him that he suggested it to me. I couldn’t resist his encouragement so I read it and since have bought stacks of copies to share and give to others as gifts. Of course there are/were days weeks months over the years that I didn’t read daily but buying the book on the app and now the audio has been awesome so now I have it with me wherever and whenever I need Jesus’s companionship❤️😇

Enriching your beliefs!. I am so thankful for ALL of Sarah Young’s books. They are great companions to walking with Christ in daily living and Bible studies as well. No matter what is happening in my life or the world, the words of the daily devotions so often seem written for the circumstances of the times—this is extremely comforting as well as reassuring. I have given them as gifts and can’t wait for the next person who presents their need for such readings. I always keep a few copies of either “Calling”, “Always” and “Today” so that l can be timely in the gifting of the books. I first became familiar with Ms. Young‘s work when in a restaurant, a lady approached us and asked if she could read to us from “today’s reading”. She said that she had overheard our conversation with a brother-in-law who was basically down and out. We were taken back by her approach and she was told “no”. However, l had zeroed in on the title of Jesus Calling and l was down at the bookstore the next day for a copy of my own—l consider the money spent on these books as an investment not only in myself and family but to whomever l gift one of the copies!

Subscription Now Required. Thank you to the developer who responded to my initial comments (See below.) expressing disappointment that I could no longer access Jesus Calling without a monthly subscription. A change has been made so that now I can access my original content, but have the option to subscribe monthly for additional publications. That is fair. Thank you for listening and for responding! I am disappointed that a subscription is now required for me to access the full content of the Jesus Calling app. I bought the app several years ago and now am required to pay $4.99/month to continue using it. A subscription would seem reasonable if the app were free, but charging for the app and then adding a monthly cost does not seem right. I will use my print copy and delete the app.

Worst ever. Hugh disappointment. I have discontinued usage until remedy. THE WAY IT SHOULD BE LIVING IN DEPENDENCE ON ME is the way to enjoy abundant life. You are learning to appreciate tough times because they amplify your awareness of My Presence. Tasks that you used to dread are becoming rich opportunities to enjoy My closeness. When you feel tired, you remember that I am your Strength; you take pleasure in leaning on Me. I am pleased by your tendency to turn to Me more and more frequently, especially when you are alone. When you are with other people, you often lose sight of My Presence. Your fear of displeasing people puts you in bondage to them, and they become your primary focus. When you realize this has happened, whisper My Name; this tiny act of trust brings Me to the forefront of your consciousness, where I belong. As you bask in the blessing of My nearness, My life can flow through you to others. This is abundant life! I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. —Psalm 18:1–2 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe. —Proverbs 29:25 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” —John 10:10 nkjv

VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE NEW UPDATE!. I agree with every other review on this page werein the readers are very upset about the new update. Please update and change it back to the way it was before. It is just sooooo frustrating that you can’t even go to the next page/day by just tapping or swiping the bottom. Also, if you miss a couple of days readings and you want to catch up, you have to go back to the homepage where there is a listing of the month and day, but it always takes you back to the first of the year so you have to scroll all the way down to the find the month and day that you want to read. It is so annoying!!! I am extremely disappointed with this new update. It’s just ridiculous!!… and not easy to use at all. It sounds like you have ALOT of readers that are upset. You need to make some changes!!!

Disappointed with Update. One of the joys I had with this devotional was that I could copy and paste it into emails to share with friends and family to encourage them. Every now and then as I read a particular day’s devotional, God would bring someone to mind that might find encouragement from that particular day’s scripture. I would copy and paste it into a text message with the title: Jesus Calling plus the date. It was such an easy way for me to minister to that person in a way that was meaningful to them. I have one friend in particular that has suffered multiple brain injuries that loved it when I shared this devotional with her. Now I’m no longer able to without her having to purchase and download the application on her phone. She needs things kept simple and this latest update has made it more complicated to share with her. All that to say, I’m not receiving the enjoyment or benefit that I once experienced with this app. So sad and disappointing. I rarely read it anymore.

Missing one thing. I love this app for the most part, but I felt the need to take off one star and see if you would fix my criticism for it. I see you have a link to share text if I should see something I like in the page of the day, but every time I try to share anything all it does is share a link to the books of Sarah Young. What’s that all about? I want to be able to highlight and share insights I read during the day, not the books themselves. People will see the book titles when I share something anyway, they’re getting plenty enough publicity, let me share from the text itself like it says, “Share text”. Fix that and I’ll give you five stars. God bless you.

Very disappointed. Like many other reviewers, I owned this app I paid for so many years ago. I started every morning prayer and meditation time by reading this app. I noticed a week or so ago, I couldn’t get to that days reading, only to find it it became a subscription type app. If there was a forthcoming warning of this I missed it. I deleted app. Realizing that I had so many readings in my favorites I re downloaded the app to see could I get to those. Once downloaded, I couldn’t get to my old favorites are even account. It is as if I was logging in for first time. It’s strange not starting my day any longer without these readings. Seems like those who purchased it would have gotten some type credit for that purchase. Guess everyone is all about the money these days. Bummer, yet I understand.

More disappointed over the years. I paid for this app years ago when it first came out and even weathered several clunky app changes that took the app from being a beautiful prompt in my time with the Lord (with lovely pages that mimicked the book itself) to plain looking and full of app glitches with days that didn’t sync up, to back to being more stylistically like the book again. Now for me to use the app I paid for as an early supporter and even read the app opening on the right day, or share anything as an encouragement (which I used to do with my husband) I have to now pay a monthly fee. The least they could do is support those who paid already. It feels like robbery to have you pay for one thing and then take it away to get you to pay more - and for Biblical content is just disappointing to say the least. A move like that isn’t in keeping with scripture, itself.

Great book but the app could use some work. I have the physical book but wanted to get the app to Jesus calling since I don’t take the book with me everywhere. I had the daily reminder set for a time to remind to read the days reading. It did it a couple times and then it doesn’t do it anymore. Then after a month of having the app right when I open the app it asks to subscribe to unlock more features and books. That is what they have for the Home Screen. I don’t like having to always go to the library and scroll up to the day I am on. The Home Screen used to be the list of my favorites readings and then I could go straight to the days reading. Most other apps will have a spot in settings or something for you to upgrade if you want. I’d like to have the original Home Screen back bc I have no interest in upgrading and it gets annoying to see it every time I open the app.

Can’t get to other days. I used to love the app, until they turned it into a subscription app for new subscribers. I bought this years ago when it was a one time purchase for full access, now all my days are locked and I can’t move around from day to day. Now, after missing a couple of days, it jumped back to and is stuck on Feb 9th. I normally wouldn’t write a bad review if it would get fixed, but I’ve emailed Harper Collins 2x with no response. Very disappointed. No app should be allowed to have you purchase full access for a flat fee and later change the app so you don’t full access without a subscription. That is false advertising and bait and switch. I’ve had the app for years and already paid for the book itself as well so I’m very dissatisfied with this app now. I’d really appreciate a response to my emails as well.

LOVE the content but not app functionality ‘updates’. I have had this app for years and love it. However over the past year or so they have changed the functionality so it is much harder to use. You used to be able to scroll day/days back and forward from ‘today’ and now if you try to view another day, you’re taken to the entire list starting on Jan 1, so you have to endlessly scroll to find the date you’re looking for. I submitted this issue and was told sorry, there is no way to get the old functionality. Additionally I very recently changed my notification time of day, but then received no notifications. I submitted it as an issue and was told they’re working on it but months later it is still not resolved. Very sad ~ I wish there was another app to get this quality content without all the so-called enhancements.

App not working properly. I purchased the Jesus Calling app several years ago. When I opened the app it would go to the current days devotional. Now it always goes to January 2. I have to go through maneuvers to get to the list, which starts in December, and scroll all the way to now (February) to get to the current days devotional. It started doing this about a month ago when you changed the app. I love this app, just want this fixed! Thank you Update: You fixed the problem but now it’s doing it again. It always goes to January 1 so I have to go to “Library”, then click on the Jesus Calling book and then scroll down to todays date and click on that to read the devotional. Please fix! Thank you!

Please bring back the old version, the update is horrible!. Before the update, I would have given this 5 stars. The layout was beautiful/inviting and I looked forward to opening my app each day. Now with the new update the daily devotions looks like a work e-mail and the app is extremely inconvenient to navigate. I would have never purchased this app if this was the original layout/format. Please bring back the old layout. You have numerous valued customers saying the same thing. There is a consistent theme-please bring back the old version. I miss it and the peace it brought to my morning routine. I unfortunately don’t even use the app anymore and have pulled out my physical book copy instead but miss the convenience of having it on my phone. Please listen to the feedback and bring back the old version prior to the most recent update.

Very unhappy with update. I have read Jesus Calling over and over each year since it was first available. I have copied and pasted the devotional and sent to my son for last couple of years.. I always sent it to him in the morning when I read it.. He commented how he looked forward to starting his day with my text.. your update doesn’t allow that for us anymore. Your update has take away something very special between my son and me. I can’t help but think it is an act of greediness on your part…wanting people to purchase that app rather than being thrilled someone is benefiting from the devotional… I paid for it and I should be able to share it.. I have been taken screen shots of it but it takes 2 to get in all in.. just a hassle and not the same…I’m thinking about just cancelling the app and finding a new source to text my son.. this has been very upsetting to me and changed the way I have always felt about Jesus Calling…to be honest I’m sure He isn’t happy you have made this change either…from talking to other people about it I’m not the only one that feels this way!

Used to love it… Now it’s not accessible for me. I am so disappointed in this app. I have been an avid lover of Jesus Calling for many years.. first I purchased the book and then the app.I began having visual problems and spent a lot of extra money to get the deluxe audiobook. It is the only way I can have access and the audio has not worked in a very long time.. I wrote to the company for help a couple of times… So long ago I can’t remember but at least a year ago for my first correspondence. I just got a vague answer back saying they did not know when the audio would be available again. So recently in my extreme frustration I wrote them not once but twice again expressing my frustration at having spent so much money for something that I cannot use at all. No one even bothered to answer either of my emails. So I am out $30 and have no access to a book I once truly loved. I was trying to use the app on several different devices with different operating systems, so it is not a problem on my end. All are iPads or iPhones. I am sorry… I truly hate to write a negative review for a Jesus Calling app that I loved so much. But I don’t think this is the right way to treat someone who has made a purchase from you.

New Version of App is Practically Broken. This might be the first time I have ever given a poor rating to an app, but in this case I feel compelled to express my dissatisfaction with the later version of the app. I bought the app and it worked well for a few years. The later version does not work correctly… • The “Today’s Reading” does not go to today; rather defaults to 1 January. • “Continue to My Content” does not allow me access to my content - shows locked, even after I choose the option to “Restore My Purchase”. • Removing and Reinstalling the app does not improve the situation. • I desperately wished I had not let the app update to the new version. • I love the content of Jesus Calling - always have, but the daily frustrations of using the app is challenging my morning time peaceful devotional time. I almost never complain about poor service or products, so please see this submission as my request to correct the app. • I paid handsomely for the app in the past and now the in-app purchase seems to be overly pushy. Since I already paid for the app, the daily advertisement to pay monthly for something I am already licensed to use definitely seems inauthentic.

Updated version.... I add my comments to the latest reviews I’ve been reading. The old version was much preferred. I appreciated the simplicity of this daily devotional app, and now the updated version is not inviting at all. The font and color are harsh. I also appreciated the fact that previously when I opened it every day it immediately opened to that current day’s devotional, like a bookmark. I didn’t have the whole list in front of me to choose from. It was an extreme shock to open the app, have it ask for my name and take me through a series of prompts, when I was expecting to just open this welcome ebook and pick up where I left off before. Extremely disappointing. Not thinking I’ll be using it anymore. When I want to dig deeper I go to my Bible directly for that, not through a paid app. Not everything needs to be so ‘busy’ with info. Sometimes simple is better.

An Anointed Work. This work must truly be anointed because almost every day that I read it, it speaks as the voice of God to my heart, blessing me with my daily bread. Daily it has given me assurance, confirmation, comfort, guidance, strength, and the list continues. Whether or not I am in a season for deep theological study, I can count on it to connect me to my Heavenly Father. My deepest gratitude to the author for obediently completing the work as I am sure it is having a major impact on many lives in the same way it is impacting mine. May you remain faithful to God, as well as pure and simple in your future endeavors, in His service.

Updates have ruined the app for me. Jesus Calling has brought me peace and calm over the years. I’ve enjoyed reading the daily devotionals every morning. Up until the forcing of premium into readers. After purchasing the app, which is the same 365 readings every year, I thought the procurement was finished. Fast forward several years and now Premium seems to be the only way to move around to different readings. I used to be able to revisit “favorites” and readings that moved me. Now, after a slew of updates, I can’t get past January 1st without having to purchase the recurring premium package. There have been many updates since the release of the premium option. Each update has had a different impact. The most recent says “to make the daily reading button more intuitive” and yet when you hit it your taken to 1 January and no way to get to the current day. It’s unfortunate that what started out as something to bring peace and joy in people’s lives through the reflections of daily passages, has now become more about increasing bottom line revenue. Before premium this would have been 5 stars. Now I give it 2. If it hadn’t been for the impact the readings have had over the years I’d make it a 1 due to all the glitches from the updates and the forcing of premium on those who just want to enjoy all the readings

Jesus Knows What I Need for the Day!. Each morning when I red my Jesus Calling devotion for the day, it seems to be exactly what I’m possibly facing for the day or what situation that I am dealing with!!! My Sweet Daddy gave me my Jesus Calling book. He has now gone to be with Jesus, but every morning that I open my little book up I think of him and remember how many times I’ve heard him say, I love Jesus, Jesus is my friend♥️🙌🏻♥️ He had dementia/Alzheimer’s for 6 years be Jesus called him home, but he told people he loved Jesus and Jesus was his friend up until the last few months when the disease fully took him away from us😔😢 but yet, he could still sing his favorite songs about Jesus🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻😢☺️🙂and now, he is seated at the feet of Jesus sing and praising the Awesome Great Big God we serve🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 So thankful for my little devotion book. Thankful for the words that speak to my heart and for the ‘precious memories that it brings back to my mind. So very thankful that I have the promise that I will one day, I will see my Daddy again and will be able to sit at Jesus’ feet and will never again have any sad times🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Not usable without a subscription now, sad. I travel full time for work and the first thing I do is grab my phone and open my Jesus Calling before anything else. It suddenly snagged on a specific day and you can no longer read any further, unless you pay the monthly fee or yearly fee. When I hear “follow the money” it usually means to a root of something not good. In this case someone chose to alter loyal followers lives by forcing them to pay subscription services they can’t afford in an economy that this is one of the things that brought them peace and hope from. Please don’t reply with a token “looks like you’ve having a technical difficulty”. No I’m having a trust issue now because your app/company became greedy. And during the month of December what a wonderful experience for your faithful, Christen following how use this app as part of their daily fellowship.

Just spent $30 on something that I can’t use. My mother has macular degeneration and always takes a photo of her daily Jesus Calling reading and has google read it aloud in the most robotic voice. So I thought, “oh, surely the audio book would be better.” I downloaded the app for $9.95, and then found that I had to spend an additional $20+ to get the audio version. So I did this, and cannot get it to play. I’ve written to customer service, but based on the other reviews it seems that this will be for naught. I’ve try reinstalling, turning off my phone, restoring my purchase, resetting audio, etc. This is annoying at best and when I tried of get a refund it said it was not eligible. I am going to try the download the Audible, which I guess I should have done to begin with. Annoyed.

An awesome & excellent gift from Jesus!!!!. To read a daily message from our Lord and Savior, is a gift from Jesus to all who are willing to join and enjoy the fun, the open honesty He shares with us . All of us are so blessed by Sarah Young’s willingness to take a leap of faith to trust what Jesus asked Sarah to do. I know this to be true for Sarah Young as it is for me. January 2015 I was commissioned by Jesus to write a book titled “Three Strikes, You’re Out, USA!”. Three Strikes, You’re Out, USA!, was published May 2021. The message from God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit clearly states the direction of our beloved USA. We have two and only two choices; 1. Repent of our sins and God will heal our Nation!!! 2. Continuing to believe following Lucifer, (aka Satan) says go do whatever WE WANT TO DO, as often as we desire, God will bring The USA down to complete ruins!!! Geary L. Disappointed. I am so grateful that God has blessed those who can share devotion with his word that God gives us freely. I paid for this app when it first came out and now I can’t enjoy it because now I have to sign up to pay a monthly fee even the Bible project and you version is free, and they take one offerings of donations. Even the daughters of the king is free, and here you have a woman who I watched and listen to her reasoning for writing this book, her purpose, but I didn’t know God had put it in her to revamp it to make more money a different kind of way off his word that God ABBA Father gives freely. I am so disappointed. I wasted 10 bucks on this when it first came out and now I got to pay a fee, if you are a person who believes in God and you know, God will supply all your needs and you don’t have to make money off of what God gives to us freely. I’m disappointed in the creators of Jesus Calling for doing this. I don’t see where Jesus and God is in this I see that is the hand of man very disappointing. I truly enjoyed having this devotion and now, when I go to download it back on my other devices, I’m seeing I have to pay a fee for something I paid for already. This is sad. This is not of God. This is a man.

Why did the app for Jesus Calling change?. My husband and I have had Jesus Calling on our phones for a long time. We also have hard copies of the book. The words have directed and comforted us for years My husbands phone still has the appearance/look and intro of the original app which I loved. His app shows the original cover of the book and then you immediately see God’s hands as the day’s devotional loads. The daily reading appears immediately once loaded. My phone’s app has changed and I can’t get the original appearance back. For me, being drawn into the hands as it loads calms me and having it go directly into the daily reading was perfect. I miss that intro. Now I read from my book rather than the app I enjoyed so much.

Can’t read purchased text content. My wife and I have enjoyed reading Jesus Calling by Sarah Young for many years. As the text version no longer works we will have to delete it from our iOS devices.

Fantastic!! Worth every dollar!. I absolutely love this app, I have the book as well but love that I can pull out my phone any time of the day and read that days devotion. God has really used Jesus Calling to speak to me & encourage me.

Jesus Calling 365 Day Devotional. Great book.. It should not have been removed from Apple Books & should have been left as a free download… no charge to read & keep the whole thing.. Christians charge for everything.. Where’s your heart 🤔 At the bank counting your money instead of lifting up spirits and souls..

I love Jesus Calling!. I love reading this devotional each morning and allowing God’s Spirit to speak to me through the encouraging and often timely words. I love how each day it’s a reminder to believe in and receive God’s love and to know His desire for me to stay close to Him as I go through my day. I love the opportunity I have to give to God each day, by loving & trusting Him through whatever life brings and this book is a beautiful enabler in that.

New update. I love this app! But I'm having trouble reading the font in the new update! I am dyslexic and the very fine font is hard to read. When I magnify it, it makes the print move off my screen. So moving the screen from side to side to see to see all the words makes it very hard for a dyslexic person to read! Sorry for complaining but it something to consider with future updates 😀 You promised a 2.1 update in February that would make the font adjustable, but we are in March and heading towards April. Please when is it coming???

Helps me draw closer to Jesus!but it has glitches. The Jesus Always version often has glitches and disrupts my devotion time . It often doesn’t go to todays reading but to a different one… so annoying ! Can you pls fix this My previous review gave 5 stars: : So love the Jesus Calling and Jesus Always devotions ! I read them first thing in my day and it is often as though God is speaking to me !! I can take the app wherever my phone goes and it works offline when we are camping . My day is not the same if I miss soaking in the words. thank you Sarah Young!

Marvellous!. The content of this devotional is fantastic. The way the app automatically scrolls to today's reading is really nice, but the inability to copy selected text is a disadvantage, as is the apps inability to run under iOS 3.x (for those of us who also have older iOS devices that can't run iOS 4).

Blakeybabe. I am so happy with this app. At anytime I am able to read the days message over and over. I download the the lite version and I just had to get the full version. Thanks for this app.

Jesus Calling review.. Beautiful readings, touch my heart every day. Good not only to be reminded of God’s love but Feel it too! ThankYou Sarah!

Font size. I am having trouble with the size of the print and can't find a settings button to enlarge the font. I now have to use a magnifying glass to do the daily reading which is very awkward. I loved the old app. Please bring it back.

Lizz1962. I just tapped on the app & I no longer have access to it which I purchased several years ago, I don’t want to subscribe, I want it back the way it was

Good content | poor App. I really like the content. However I am disappointed with the new layout and it had taken a step backwards on functionality. It is now too heavily focused on promoting other resources that are available for purchase. The worst thing is the removal of the ability to copy and paste. The original app didn’t have that function, then a newer version introduced the feature, but now you’ve removed it again! Why? I loved having the ability to paste segments into my journal from time to time.

Not happy. I bought this book and you have stolen it from me I want my money back I did enjoy it but they are robbers not Christian at all just very selfish people

Very Disappointing. Woke up to read read Jesus Calling only to suddenly find it is now locked. The book I had purchased nd had been reading for years is now a subscription. Sadly, I will delete it and just simply go back to the printed copy. Everything is about money.

A great app on its way to recovery!. Thanks Thomas Nelson for listening to complaints about the previous update and starting the process of recovering the usability of this app. The improvements made in this update today are a good start in the process. I look forward to the other updates promised for February and following. These features will be so helpful to allow the content to once again be a usable and useful tool in ministry. To any potential purchasers, this is a great app and definitely worth the investment especially once the next few updates are in place.

Disappointed with the newer version of the app. I purchased the app years and years ago and it was pretty prefect to use. Now I have to subscribe to access the Jesus Calling book I had purchased. Not impressed.

Love this app. However I did prefer the scriptures being in bold & italicised. Made reading it easier for me & I found I was more able to understand/comprehend the daily devotional. Also I'm in the Southern Hemisphere, in South Australia, & it is now a day a head for me. Otherwise I love this app. It is my only devotional I have & read. 👍🏼

Every day is special!!. I’m sure that every single day is written just to me.... a great start to my day❣️

I'm glad I'm not the only one.. I love this book. It always helps me connect with Jesus' peace and build a beautiful relationship with him. However I do not like the new update. The font is very small and if you zoom in or out it stay to the left of the page. The white it also not as relaxing as the previous brown. It's nice to read off a colour other than white. I hope changes are made - in finding it difficult to read regularly with the new update.

Changes. Ok so I opened my Jesus calling app this morning to see a different format. Hmm 🤨 what’s going on here I said ? Not liking the stark background that the writings are written on. My old one had an old world paper look to it. It took me a while to find today’s reading . Then when I did as I said there’s nothing warm looking on the page. I like to copy and paste my favourite scriptures at the bottom of the page into my notes. Which then stayed in chronological order to be read at my leisure. I cannot copy and paste , what have your developers done ? This format seems to be so Impersonal. Not at all happy 😑

It's ruined!. I am so very disappointed with the new update. I can't read the small font and so it is no longer a relaxing and peace filled experience as it was before! The update is now just hard work. No copy and paste function to enable sharing or adding to my own notes and the date is now always a day ahead...(I'm in Australia) this is a downgrade not an upgrade at all in my opinion....a waste of money and useless to me now particularly with the font change. Please upgrade the quality back to what it was? God was finally talking to me, please put it back? It is ruined the way it is now.

Please restore to previous format!. One of the first things I do each day is read Jesus Calling. Ever since the change in format I am sad each day as I try and rekindle the excitement I used to feel each day on reading this daily devotional. Previously it was in the same layout as the book do Jesus Calling. Why change that? It’s just not the same now to read this message each day.

Wonderful book. I have the hard copy of this book. This iPad version is so much more convenient and also has the Bible verses shown each day. I loved the book. I love the app even more.

Can not start my day without Jesus Calling. This is the way I start each day and without fail speaks to me. The word of God gets me set up for the day. Love this app x

It’s frozen. I’ve been using this app for a few weeks and now it wants me to add my name and email. Although I’ve skipped it, it won’t go past the instruction page. I’ve tried everything. What is happening. Can anyone help

Great App, lost all my notes though with update. Wonderful App. A really interesting way of interpreting the Bible with it being written in the first person. Really personalises the message to you and I. My only issue is with the new update I have lost all the notes I have made and favourites I have selected. I've put a fair bit of work into the notes so I can reflect on them later so pretty disappointed they're gone.

I liked the old version .. I love this app . Since it has changed I find it hard . The old way you felt closer To God . The Readings are Beautiful I love it but it has a different feeling . It was in bold Text

Great App and Book. I really enjoy using this app on a daily basis. This devotion gives me a lot of life and hope throughout my day. Please keep this movement alive. There are few things in yeah I would love to see updated: - Add sharing option for devotions - Remove horizontal movement when scrolling down a devotion - Add highlighting option for text in devotions - Provide option to Sync daily reminder with Reminder app Thank you!

This is absolutely terrible!!. What a shock to open this “new improved” version of the app!! PLEASE....put it back to what it was! I can’t even give it 1 star but am forced to do so or I can’t send.

Love this app. Inspiring and meaningful devotions. Always a source of grounding and reflection for me at any time of the day.

New update the worst. So sad and mad about the new update. I bought and paid $10. for this ebook many years ago. Now they want to charge me $3.00 per month to read what I already paid for. Need to change the name of this App and take Jesus name off it. It’s a disgrace to His name.

Why change things up?. I originally bought the book Jesus Calling. I’d read it everyday and shared daily verses with my colleagues. I’ve even bought additional books to give away! Once I found out that I could have it on my phone, I bought the app. Ive had the app for some time now. Since it was modified for additional features, it hasn’t worked right since. I have reached out to support to let them know and they have always been gracious in their reply. Sometimes the fix they offer works for a bit, then it ‘breaks’ again. I truly enjoy this app. It brings me comfort. I just find it disheartening now.

Great app. A great app for the iPad. Same content as the book. It writes out the Scriptures for you which is even better than buying the book. Loads up with no problems. A great devotional and a great way to keep your devotions near you through the day. Highly recommended.

Beautiful way to start your day. This app is awesome! No issues whatsoever. The devotionals are powerful and inspiring. Highly recommend!

Beautiful encounter with Jesus. I'm a witness that Jesus himself speaks through this book. Heres my testimony, I began reading this devotional book there was a prayer in one of the devos that i prayed and seriously after i prayed that prayer i began seing things in the physical world differently, trees were more vibrant, nature was alive... everything was beautiful. i felt the most amazing peace and love of Jesus i litteraly felt Jesus was with me in my room and He was speaking to me dirrectly through each of the words of this book, some people have said this is not a good devo that it has false doctrine or whatever but i tell u before the living God the experience I had reading this.. was out of this world AMAZING and supernatual. I witnessed Gods amazing love for me. i prayed and prayed for hours and hours and began speaking in tongues, i was really deep in the spiritual realm praying for peoples deliverance seing visions in my mind of chains breaking as i would pray for peoples chains to break. Call me crazy but this is the best devotional in my opinion. I thank God for it because its a reason why I am a follower of Jesus Christ today. PRAISE GOD !!!!

Updates should be improvements. Very disappointed to find it had been updated with a poorer display. I liked opening up to the daily message which was presented so nicely. Now it is just a text document in small print and I have to find the correct date to even open the message. If it would have looked like this when I first saw it, I would have chosen not to buy it. I'm glad to see that there are more updates coming, I hope presentation tops the list!

Jesus calling. I am so glad to be able to have the app, as I was reading it in the book for many years, but this allows me to read it anywhere, as the mornings can be hectic sometimes.. Love to start my day with reading it before my prayer time.. thank you!!

Gives Me Peace. Love to read this book each day because it’s an inspiration and affirmation of The Lord’s love for us.♥️

Update Ruined It. Loved this app until the update. Now the date is wrong and the font is so small I can barely read it. If I enlarge it on my iPad screen it won't let you move across the page so it is impossible to read because you can only see part of it. Loved the set up and ease of use prior to this update, but won't likely use it now until this is fixed. It's a shame. It was one of my "go to" apps. **Update** - Although they have corrected many of the issues resulting from the last update, the app is far from being as good as it was. For instance you can no longer share the daily devotional or copy and paste. I often find things in the devotional that would encourage others and like to email or text it to them, or post it on my FB page. That is no longer an option. I'm guessing it has to do with copywrite but it is just one more thing that ruined this app for me. **Update Again** - Thanks for listening to your customers. The latest update brought back an easy to read text size and format and best of all you can once again copy, paste and share!

Bad Update!. It was a fantastic app until the update:( Now the date is wrong, shows I always have a notification, scrolling is awkward, and the words are way too small. Very disappointed:(

Mixed up dates. The recent update got the dates mixed up. Today is January 10 and your devotional date shows January 11. Please fix it.

Terrible update please fix!!. I was a daily reader until this terrible update. Now the date is always wrong, it shows tomorrow instead of today, and the font is way too small and you can't make it any bigger! Please revert back to the previous version or address these issues ASAP!

Best recovery update ever. They really listened to the users after that last update. It wasn't great but this is fantastic. Nice job.

I paid for audio months ago but can not get it many times for gifts. Thank you

Bad move.... The last update has ruined this app for me. The print is SO small and enlarging is useless. It is also off by a day in highlighting current reading for the day. I want my old app back.

Jesus Calling. This book has literally changed my outlook on life...

Jesus calling. Can’t do with the tactics in subscription. I’m a sheep for the Lord, but won’t be fleeced by you.

Excellent content - but stingy app. Great content...the daily reminders and communications are very good! However I am very disappointed with the lack of being able to share. The app sellers seems much to concerned about app revenue and not allowing users to share a "good reading". Simple business will prove it will be more successful if you allow people to share a daily reading with someone without them having to first buy the app. Max 300 characters? seriously...saying it is a copyright concern is an honest cop-out. I'm sure we can be more generous?? Please find a way to make this work. Right now I am embarrassed to forward a reading to someone...and I don't plan on "gifting" it to everyone I think of when I feel I need to share the excerpt. Fix this and it's 5 star 100%!! I really appreciate the encouragement I gain by reading this every day and I am sure many more people will too!

Gifting not available!!!!. I toggled your gift box at bottom of home page. Doesn't go directly to gifting as it did before but sends you to an APP store page which is a waste of time. Then I cancelled that attempt and went directly to my APP Store APP on my own iPhone and several pages later could not find any way to gift because my IPhone already has this Jesus Calling App and so it shows as "Open" only. No where can I find "gift it". I have tried 3 different times and I now will give up trying to give 3-5 copies away and provide you 3-5 sales. This version is the WORST EVER. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! Why you ever chose these folks to re do your APP was clearly a mistake based on the almost unanimous poor reviews.

Not good. Old version was better - used it daily! Now can't read: font too small, can't adjust and zooming larger on iPad won't auto adjust to space or allow to shift side to side to view text. Date incorrect also. Can't use this way ... Please return to old version!

Unusable. I love the old app but this version is so small that I can't see it and when I enlarge the font the lines run off the screen. I feel so sad because I loved the old version but this is not something that I want to even try to read and in it's current state, it is unusable. Can I please have the old "unupdated" version back?

Better, but still not like the previous version. Thanks for listening to the reviewers and fixing a very bad update-- it really was a backwards move. Font is better, but missing the calming design from before. Thanks for fixing the date, however the reminder still won't clear.... I don't want to uninstall and reinstall as I lose all my notes... I've done what you suggested.... Can you please fix sooner than later? Overall better, but still not back to where you started when you messed with a perfectly good app.

We have to pay more?. Why did this become a subscription? This was gifted to me a couple of years ago and now I only have access to a few dates in January. If I want to unlock more content I have to pay more and monthly? I’m hoping that it’s something wrong on my end and not that greed has taken over.

Jesus Calling. Great app except there is no way to retrieve your money if the email for the person you are gifting ( or they do not have a phone that accepts the app or if an error was made). This happened to me and I paid for a gift no one received. This is a rip off I feel and there should be some way to be compensated.

Bad update. The reminder function no longer launches the app. Also it defaults to the wrong date!

Was better before. I bought this app years ago and used it, now they want everyone to “subscribe” meaning keep paying for something that I already paid for, so now it does not work for me. Not very ethical for an apl dedicated to Jesus.

Great app but glitchy. It won’t let me scroll down the page after I clicked on the devo for the day so I can only read the beginning 🙁

Format change. Just like any other app, changed format and dislike . Sent email and no resolution .

Jesus Calling. Terrible update! Very disappointed, I thought an update would improve things although this app needed no update. I have used it for years. I want the old version back. Date is wrong, continual notification, font too small, background is blah compared to previous setting. Very frustrating, used to be a very peaceful , rewarding start to my day. Please put it back!

Great app/content. Love this book - app makes it even better!

Love the words-Not the App anymore. Not a fan of the latest update. Also disappointed in the Audio portion that was updated, it would be nice if we had a option the listen to the “Music” In the background while scripture is being read. I find it very distracting.

Jesus Calling. I love love love this book. I also purchased the app a couple years ago for approx $10, and have since gave the physical book to a friend. However, I just opened the app up and many of the daily devotionals are locked! I believe it’s ones I did not open. And I now need to subscribe for $4.99 monthly just to see all of the Jesus Calling content! $10 is/was essentiallly the cost of an e-book so I think it’s fair that I should continue to have access to the original content of that book.

Gift this app doesn't work!!. The best devotional ever! But very much disappointed. I finally was able to figure out the "gift the app" and send it to my friend. I got charged but my friend didn't received it. How can I get the refund now????

Doesn't work. Quits immediately on start up

Same Experience as “Why Change Things Up”. Same experience. App worked for 3 days then everything gets locked. I already paid for the subscription many many years ago…why should I have to pay for a NEW subscription? I reached out for assistance and finally received an e-mail reply. I was given instructions on how to fix the App as a “legacy subscriber”. I followed the instructions and the App continues to lock??? What a shame. Don’t waste your $$$ on a subscription. In a few years they will figure out a way to make you pay and subscribe again to a “new and improved” version of the App!!!

Great update. Back to being awesome!

Well done. A huge improvement - thank you. I look forward to more of your updates now. God bless you all

New Year Update is Terrible. I loved Jesus Calling, the beautiful background and fonts was a perfect ambiance to growing closer to God through this awesome devotional with great scripture. The new war update however is so boring!!! There is NO BACKGROUND, with PLAIN FONT, I really hope they fix this! It's just not the same, not at all!!!

Highlighting. Thanks for the app! My daughter took my Jesus Calling book, so now I have downloaded the app so I can carry it with me where ever I go. One thing I miss is being able to highlight and underline the text. Could you add these functionalities to the app, along with the copy and paste?

Very well done. I enjoy this author's writing. I especially love that I can open this devotional anywhere. Thanks for creating this app.

Content vs. screen design. I was so upset that you changed the beautiful interface that I stopped reading the devotional on a daily basis. Well, I played right into Satan’s hands. Your team might have as well by changing the design because it probably caused others to react the same way. But then I realized that I should be focusing on the content rather than the packaging. And had I never seen the original interface, I would be fine with the app. So now I am back to reading it daily as I have my priorities straight. I also increased my rating from 1 star to 3.

Amazing minus one flaw. I have always loved Jesus calling app. And I always share with all. I let them know the app name and where they can get it. But I’ll give you 3 stars because since the update, or new revision, I have not been able to share The readings. When I press share, it sends a link to the book. There is no way of being able to share the reading. Please fix this so that you may have five stars.

New update is overly complicated. The Jesus calling app was in need of an update; but the new home screen is endlessly cluttered. Why is there a “Where you left off” section that constantly displays the last two days? You don’t need a reminder of where you are because it literally says at the top “Today’s reading.” Additionally, the home screen is cluttered by two of your favorites readings. I would suggest making these two sections collapsible, or, give us the ability to uncheck this feature so the home screen is cleaner.

Jesus Calling. I have had and read this book many times along with others Sarah Young has written. There has NEVER been a day when I have been experiencing fear, anxiety, grief, anger or any other problems this world brings that the reading wasn’t EXACTLY what I needed to hear from the Lord. Sarah is a blessed tool who allows God to work through her to minister to millions of others. She has a weakened physical body but she stands tall and deeply rooted in the word of God. May God continue to bless you. Looking forward to “Jesus Listens”.

Latest update. I've had this app for over two years and loved it until the latest update. My mother used to say if it's not broke don't fix it why oh why did you make changes. The new format is hard to read and the dates from change correctly. Please please change it back. Don't do the updates if you can avoid them. Requested update: sometimes I go to bed after midnight which is when I read your app. The new format doesn’t seem to allow me to pick a date in the past or future unless I’ve marked it as my favorite. Maybe I’m missing something ?

Hate the Update. Not only has this update seemingly taken some of my books (they won’t download into my library and the restore purchases button won’t work) it has taken away the ability to copy/paste and share on my social media. I’ve shared a Jesus Calling devotional EVERY SINGLE MORNING for the last 5 years or so. I’ve had many many friends who have read them and told me how much they mean to them, or how they needed to read that, etc. And for the record, clicking the share icon and doing it that way does not do anything. Nor does screen shooting and sharing that way. My friends have only read them when I’ve copied/pasted the devotional. Please bring that function back!!

Last update ruined this app. The recent update to this app is just horrible. It used to be such a nice app, but now basically useless. They took away the beautiful look of the pages, so now it’s just a plain, ugly white. Also, you can no longer just swipe to go to the next page. Not sure what they were thinking, but they must want to discourage people from using this app. I really just hate it now.

No longer use this app.

Updated App Version is HORRIBLE. Your updated app version is horrible and extremely difficult to use and navigate through ! I was able to share the word of God everyday with others BUT NOW it’s impossible to send the daily Jesus Calling message to others without them having to purchase your app !! You’ve turned it into a money $$$ thing !!! I’m not happy at all and will NOT suggest your app to others from here on out unless it’s changed back !! I’m sure there are plenty of other people that use it used your app that feel the same as I do! I’ve been loyal to y’all for over 8 years but now it’s about the $$! I hope GOD sees what your company is doing now !!

The best gift ever. I received this book of meditations as a gift in 2011 and have been reading it continually ever since. You might say that it is well read. Then I discovered the online version and now have been able to continue my readings even when I don’t have the book with me. Every day the reflection seems to say something directly to me. I thank Sarah for her generosity in sharing her and our Lord's thoughts.

The print changes are horrible!!. You did an update on the app recently and now when you scroll up to read it changes to a completely different date and page. It's almost impossible to get through one reading without losing your place 3 or 4 times. Very annoying. Please fix your app!!! I want to be able to scroll up when reading but do not want to go to a new month. FIX IT!

New version. I love this devotional. I’ve been reading for over 8 years. Some years back I moved to the app. Most recent updates removed the background, and you can’t highlight text to share. I copied text that touched my heart to my journal. I also have Jesus Always and the app no longer keeps your place in each, only the last one viewed. So I have to scroll all the way through the year to get to the day of the second devotional. I will say I am pleased with the links to the Bible. Please make it as enjoyable as it was…

An Ongoing Blessings. I Started this devotion about 6 years ago when I received a hard copy of Jesus Calling as a gift. not only have I prayed this devotion daily ever since, but I have given a lot of copies as presents to friends, family and acquaintances. I have even purchased the Spanish version and given it away as well. It is truly God’s grace speaking to us through this blessed instrument. How I wish everyone would discover this jewel! Thank you Lord Jesus!

A true gift!!. I have read this devotional daily for over a decade and every year the Lord makes it new and relevant for me. I have gifted this book to sooo many folks - all ages and circumstances- and not once has it been I’ll received. The app makes for convenience when the text may not be handy. Thank you Lord for calling on Sarah Young to create and publish this work, as it draws us closer to you and strengthens our relationship as we walk through this earthly world.

The Upgrade Made the App Less Enjoyable. I love “Jesus Calling.” I have the book, and have given many copies to friends. I had installed the App so I can read my devotion when traveling. I would have giving the App 5 stars until this last upgrade. I “upgrade all” on my apps, or I wouldn’t have changed this one. I don’t like this upgrade at all! It is cumbersome to find the day’s devotion, and I don’t know the purpose of the changes. So disappointed that a wonderful devotion is now more difficult to use.

Saved my life. This daily devotional has done so much to strengthen my relationships with the Lord and Jesus. You have to have a relationship before you can be obedient and the Lord stands ready with immeasurable love just waiting on us to call. This app shows you that and how to pick up the phone and call God and his son Jesus. Get this app and make the call he can’t wait to hear from you!

So full of God’s Spirit!. This devotional was given to us by a dear friend who has since gone on to be with the Lord. She was one of the most godly women my wife and I have ever known. This devotional, I can see now, must have been a big part of her walk with God. This is the most beautiful, Spirit filled, amazing devotional! I hear the voice of God calling me closer to Him every day I take time and read these pages. Such an amazing blessing!

Accessibility. I love the app’s devotionals, they feel very personal and somehow always touch on what I may need to address in prayer that day; However, it does seem a bit of an oversight to only allow audio to be played if you purchase the book for $21. When I’ve tried to recommend this devotional app for friends who are visually impaired, they don’t get to use it unless they spend the $20, which isn’t quite fair because the rest of us at least get the daily devotional for much less of a cost. Love the app, I just think it could be more accessible for those with disabilities.

J. The book is awesome. Been my first read every morning for at least the last 6 years. Always seems to be appropriate to my current circumstance. I don’t really like the recent upgrades. I don’t like the the font or the changes in the app. I am still an avid reader and have given many books to others and will continue to do so. Just wish they would go back to the earlier app.

Hate the update. I loved this app until the update. Before, the daily pages were beautiful and looked just like the book. It was easy to mark my favorites and review them whenever I wanted. The new pages are BLAND! Everything is in black and white, no picture detail, etc. Now it’s easier to share??? Why in the world would anyone want to share it now? It’s awful. I really loved this app because of the look of it and the convenience of having it on my phone and I paid $10 for it! Please consider bringing back the old style. At this point, I’d like a refund of my $10 if this awful update is not addressed. Thank goodness I have the book - too bad someone made the decision to cheapen the look of this once great app☹️

Extremely Happy. I am so very happy to find there is an app for Sarah Young , I have bought Jesus calling for my sisters and friends and I own 4 myself, I keep them in the vehicle in case I was in a hurry, and I have flip ones in my craft house and home! I am extremely happy to have this app, as Sarah Young puts it into words of the Lords wisdom, that I can relate to and totally understand. It gives me good thoughts for each day. Happy camper Dawn

Sharing. I know someone else has posted something similar. I love his app but sharing is a small problem. You can hold your finger down and select whole text but when it is shared on FB it doesn’t show that it is from “Jesus Calling”. I usually type it at the top to tell everyone where it is from. Then there is the share button that says share text and it just brings up books that are available instead of the actual text. If one or both of these were fixed I would give it 5 stars.

Jesus Calling Reminds Us of The Holy Spirit’s Presence. I went through Jesus Calling for the first time during an incredibly difficult time of my life but God was so faithful in the storm and He used Jesus Calling to help me stay aware that He was right there and that I was going to come out on the other side! He took the storm the enemy intended for evil and worked it for incredible good and He did it to a degree I can’t even describe!!!

Features. I love what the app is able to do as far as sharing God’s word and making the ever-popular book available in this format. I have installed it on my iPhone 13 and iPad Pro. I have a couple of points on usability. First, if there is a way to have my written notes sync to both devices, it would be great. Secondly, choosing Days appears to only default to January. Am I missing a way to go to a particular day without scrolling thru the year, whether it is a day a couple of months back or the next week without having to do the entire year? I know it works out…January won’t require scrolling while December is more time consuming. The feature is probably right in front of me but it isn’t an intuitive thing to access.

Miss being able to copy. I’ve used this app for years and always knew when I would read an old favorite because it was marked with the heart. That’s gone now. But worse is I used to copy them and paste into a text or email to a friend or relative who would be uplifted by the meaningful words. No longer! Darn, being unable to share these makes me sad. Can you bring that feature back? Otherwise my stars are for the wonderful writing and content.

My usage. Have had this app for about 10 years and read the daily devotionals near daily. This and other resources have made a tremendous difference in my life. To that end, over the years I’ve likely given 50 or 60 copies of the printed book to people coast to coast, in 49 of our 50 states. I believe this book will make a tremendous difference in the lives of all who read it!!

Jesus calling audio. I am no longer able to listen to my daily devotions either. Some days it is difficult reading because of a medical issue but I miss being able to hear it read to me. Also, I have gifted this devotional to others in the past but no longer see that option. Can you please help me out with these 2 issues. Thank You Kathy

Love this !. Reading this every morning . Definitely helps my day go smooth . Very inspirational. I have noticed that I have had more happiness, peace and tranquility in my life since I started reading this every morning. There are times when My life is busy and I forget to read It and I realize that there is more stress in my life. The when I go back to my daily reading it’s like a layer of stress lift off me and I feel the positive energy and light all around and my days are much better

Appreciation. I love the Jesus Calling Daily Meditation. Every morning when I wake up I pray then I read my Jesus Calling for the day. This prepares me for my day so that I may know what to expect. It really allows me to leave in peace and harmony because I expect the unexpected when I read this daily. It keeps Jesus closer to me. Thank you Sarah for such great books. I thank God for you. May God always bless and keep you! Amen

Love the devotional Ed!!. I love the devotionals!! I miss the old format though where I could easily move from day ti day. If I miss a day or two, I like to go back and read them and I don’t like that you have to go back out of each day and scroll through all the days to get to another day. If I’m wrong and there is a way to easily move between days, please let me know. Thanks!

Used to be a great app, not anymore.. The messages are awesome! However the app with the last update became very unusable! You can only view today’s message. If you miss a day, you can’t go back a day or two. Instead of just swiping right to go back, you can only go back by selecting “days” in the menu which takes you to January 1. Then if you swipe down fast to try to get to September, it bounces back to January. The app also won’t remember your preferences ie font size. Always reverts to king size, legally blind mode. Overall very clunky and not intuitive. Bring back the old version!

Life changing. Reading a daily devotional everyday has tremendously strengthened my relationship with God! It is to easy to feel overwhelmed and not pick up the Bible or go find your devotional book “I am too busy” but we are always on our phones so there becomes no excuses to not open Jesus calling and be blessed by a word that adds priceless value to your daily and long term life in exchange for a minute! Thank you! This is truly a blessing

A book to share. Jesus Calling has been a God Send. After purchasing my first copy, I’ve been able to share this little book over and over with family, friends, strangers, doctors, nurses, and whoever else all across our nation. I carry several of these with me wherever I go for that purpose; it’s a wonderful way to share Christ! Where had it been all my life?

Jesus Calling. I really do not like the updated new look. The look as of a week ago was very relaxing and soothing to read. The way you’ve changed it makes it very harsh on the eyes. Please please please revert to the old look… Or at least give us the choice of that one as an option. It’s the first thing I read in the morning and it’s just not pleasant anymore.

Jesus Calling app. For years I kept buying the book, Jesus Calling, and then giving it away. When the app became available I bought it and read it daily. I love that the scripture is open at the bottom - so convenient. I have gifted the app to several folks and thankful I can share Sarah’s devotions that way. I am sad to hear of her passing. Her contribution to many Christians’ growth will be her legacy.

He calls me Daily…. This is the VERY first thing I do every morning (after I grab my coffee) and it is the ONLY way I want to start my each and every day. There are so MANY messages that resonate with me and my daily situations and human frailties. I would give FIVE stars, except there is no ability to highlight what I am reading on my iPad. I am constantly taking screen shots of poignant words and then highlighting that and saving for my files or photos. I would be lost searching for a replacement if I did not have this in my life. I am so grateful.

The absolute best app and devotional that has truly blessed me. The words in this devotional have blessed me and my life for years, no matter how many times I read through it. We’ve even read these words in hospice situations, reading it every day to our loved ones, and could see them respond to these words as they prepare to enter God’s Kingdom and finally meet Jesus.

Surprise finding 🙏🏼. I’m thrilled to have come across this app. I have been reading the same book for several yrs. Never knew there were sooooo many editions. I have passed it on to several people. They love it. Now I get to share with them this app. This is definitely my Christmas gift. Thank you Sarah, you have captured my attention for a long time.

Why?!. The app has been of my best ways to share the gospel and you’ve now made it impossible to copy and paste pieces… it was fine the way you had it and now I can only share with your “get the app” picture on it and only a portion of the reading. I have been uplifting my mother and sister and friends on Facebook letting everyone know where these come from each day. I’m Disappointed and so are those whom I shared Jesus with. 4 out of 5 stars because I’m still able to read it.

Longtime Reader Disappointed. Like the other reviews lament, this update has really taken away something that means a lot to so many of us longtime lovers of this devotional and its app. Removing the ability to copy and share or paste to later remind yourself destroys what should be a central purpose of this author’s work. And promoting the ability to share on social media as a substitute for copying it down for family or oneself? Just gross. Shame on the publisher.

Being back the old one. Before the last update I would give 5 stars. This update looks like a cheap, poorly thought out design. The old version was inviting, with a soothing appearance and text that stood out and was inviting, instead of looking like a resume like it does now. I HATE having to scroll to the next day, especially since I’ve been having a lot of hard times lately and need to see something fast to calm my anxiety. This is just a horrible change and I’m not sure why you guys broke what didn’t need to be fixed. I’ve stopped using it. Now it has no appeal. I’ll be back when you bring back the old version.

Big Fan - Bad Execution on Update. I bought many of Sarah Young’s books for others and treasure the daily devotional messages! Hopefully the usability of the app can be improved. I keep a journal in Notes of meaningful passages - copy and paste has been disabled. I bought 5 ebooks populated in the app and changing from one to another and finding the relevant day is cumbersome at best. Thanks to the developers for giving this a shot, I hope you are able to release an improved version soon!

App no longer works since update. Used to be a 5 star! I have had Jesus Calling in my phone for many years. This morning when I opened it, I was asked my name (the page was too big for my screen) and I managed to get to the 2nd page which also is too big for my screen and can not scroll down to hit a command. It’s become completely useless. Plus this is a paid for app. I have have an iPhone 6s. I’m very disappointed and hope you can fix the problem. I noticed the update was update again the next day, so obviously there are issues. Please respond. Thank you.

Exactly what I need when I Need it. I don’t know how but without question the presence of the Lord is felt and very much alive when reading and trying to truly and purely understand the Bible and then to read this after I have my morning read from the Bible, always hits it right on the head. Whatever is on my heart or mind that day I feel like Jesus is talking directly to me in a relatable form, while here in todays world. I hope everyone reading Jesus calling is encouraged and excited to get to know Him more.

Jesus Calling. The Jesus Calling devotional reading is the way I start my quite time everyday. Even though I have been reading it for years, more times than not it speaks to the specific circumstances I am dealing with that morning. It is clearly the most insightful daily devotional I have ever read. It takes scripture and gives you a true life application view. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is on a journey to know God or to know him better. Romney Rogers

Jesus Calling. I don't like the upgrade. The date highlighted is the next day, and the print is too small with no way to adjust the settings. It used to open with the correct day right there for you to read. Give me the old version back. There was nothing wrong with it. I have been happily using it for years. Give me the old version back

Audio no longer works (see update). Audio no longer works … uninstalled and reinstalled downloading the audio fresh Update: the next time I launched the app a few days later it was working fine. I had tried all kinds of things that first day with no success so I really don’t know what fixed the issue. I would like to give a shout out to Customer Service … they were helpful.

My Jesus Calling Original Audiobook does not play audio & now it has completely disappeared!. My Jesus Calling Original Audiobook frequently doesn’t play the audio. I’ve been on the website, tried to get help from different customer care departments to fix this problem. I am unable to get the restore purchase to work. I deleted the app & reloaded it. Still nothing. This is very frustrating…purchasing a physical copy of Jesus Calling, purchasing the app, AND purchasing the online audiobook & in a year’s time I have been unable to restore my purchase & hear my audiobook. Ridiculous!! Sincerely, Susan Hinson

Update is downgrade. I have never left a review for an app but the latest change on this app has made me feel it’s important to give feedback. The layout change including new fonts completely changes the experience. Like others, I would often start my day going to the app and the words touched my heart deeply. I’m not sure if it’s the same content year over year but each day has a similar feel/tone. Now it feels clinical and almost critical. It’s amazing how layout/font. can make such a big difference. Please go back to the old!!

Jesus Callind. I have been reading for over a year. For some reason I stopped a few months ago. I felt empty and did not bring Jesus to mind daily. I am working now to be consistent again and let God fill my heart every day with thoughts of him. Do you publish a version for teens? I hope when my grandson is a few years older I can introduce him to Jesus. Patents ate too into themselves now. Christine Sharon
