Worst redesign ever!!!. Update: I haven't played for days because the update disgusted me so much. Tried it again today, I am never gonna get used to this. I even got a headache from the absurdly bright colors. For at least 5 years I have plays this game daily, playing at least 5 games online simultaneously and I bought almost all the expansions. But now I am really done. There is no excuse for a game giving me a headache. I will keep the game on my iPad in the hope that the redesign will be rolled back or at least toned down considerably, but I'm not playing anymore or buying expansions until that happens. Why was the order of the militia and heavy infantry cards etc in my deck switched? Why doesn't it show the whole construct cards anymore? Why are the constructs covering the cards in my hand on my 9.7 inch screen??? Why the blindingly bright color at the top? Why doesn't it show 6 online games anymore but only 4 at a time? Why is everything so slow now? Was the old design so wrong that EVERYTHING had to be changed? I have been playing this game for 5 years at least, I think I will just delete it from my iPad. The end of an era.

99% great. The game itself is very intuitive once you get the hang of it but the way the tutorial is setup doesn't show you the full way to play the game, you do however get the hang of it after two to three times of play. The main gameplay however is really flushed out and well rounded, but there is a small issue with the getting one deck and paying for the rest (and they're all mostly reasonable in price so not a big issue) which is after four to five times of playing the first deck it kinda becomes uninteresting. All in all it's a good game and worth giving a shot👍🏼.

One step forward, two steps back!. The latest update is great with the new expansion and an updated graphical feel. However, the updated graphics wind up being more of a detriment. The animations are slower, the UI requires you to be much more precise in where you drag cards to play/activate them, the touch response seems to be diminished, and I’m constantly accidentally closing or swapping apps while trying to play. All this leads to one game taking as long as 3-4 did before the update! I’m playing on an iPhone X, so it’s not like I’m trying to use outdated hardware to play. All these little gripes are going to make me LESS likely to want to play and pick up the missing expansions. Hopefully this is resolved quickly.

New version is bad (1.14). I have played thousand of games of this on mobile, I have every expansion, and it was my favorite mobile game (I own at least 20). The new update is much slower, harder to read, and harder to use. With the switch to Unity and a PC focus it’s obvious that the mobile experience wasn’t high priority. Games take twice as long to play or more, I can’t drag cards to play because they’re in the iPhone X swipe area, and I miss the new submit button all the time because it’s much thinner now. I’ve gone from playing daily to not at all and I’ve switched games. Normally I wouldn’t review a specific version, but with the switch to Unity, the PC focus, and Asmodee supposedly being up for sale I don’t have any confidence these issues will be fixed in a timely way or at all.

No Signs of Life from Developers. I think the AI component is what really makes this app shine. It uses so little battery, and while the occasional bug or lag comes up, the developers have been very good about doing their best to release fixes in a timely fashion. It's just a fun, casual game, and a great way to spend 15 minutes on a quick, easy activity! All that said, it has been an awfully long time since I first wrote this review, and nothing new has come to this game since. The physical game and computer version see updates far more quickly. I'm disappointed that such a beautifully simplistic game doesn't receive the love it deserves anymore.

UI screwed up after years of success. I've been playing Ascension and it's expansions for years. It's one of my go to games, and easily rated 5 stars. The new user interface that just released is a *huge* step back. The cards are muddy, low contrast messes that are much harder to recognize at a glance. The text is much harder to read on them. They seem to have adjusted the drag targets too, since it's not as easy to play cards or fling them into the void or discard pile. I'm playing on the iPad after having regularly played on the iPhone. There's no excuse for my to be squinting to figure out what's on the board. I haven't encountered the crashes other reviewers have mentioned yet, but unless things improve rapidly, I can't see playing it much going forward, and that's a shame.

Worth it! I Promise!. My wife bought me the physical Acension game this past Christmas. We played it together and I loved it. Reminded me a lot of D.C., but with their own twist. I came across the app version of Acension while at work (a boring day) and decided to download it. Within a day of playing this awesome game/app, I bought all the expansions and everything for 20 bucks! Now I’m playing this non-stop! I love it. The only thing that I wish they would change or add feature wise, is the ability to increase the “honor” pool past 240. I feel like it really limits your time to enjoy the combinations of playing different expansions and getting through all the cards. If possible, make the honor pool less restrictive so that way players really have a chance to build a crazy deck when playing several expansions at once. One final note! I’m looking forward to other Ascension expansions being added to the app. Keep up the awesome work!

In app purchases mostly unavailable offline. I have really enjoyed this app over the years and have purchased almost all the expansions. The infamous expansion slowed it down a lot on my IPad 3, but it plays well on my newer 2018 IPad. Recently however, I noticed that the app no longer lets me select most of the in app purchases offline, which never happened in the past. The only ones I can select are the most recent expansion I had selected in a past game or the original expansion. When I am back online, I can select anything. This makes it much less useful to have on a long trip without an internet connection. Is this a bug or attempts at stronger verifications of purchases? Since I paid for the expansions, I would like to be able to play them at any time. I will have to consider whether I will waste any more money on expansions for this app.

Top Five Must Own App. I have played this game since release. There is only one other game on the app store I can say this about. Multi-player online is great and with the much needed long overdue chat feature it is only better. Ascension is originally a physical card game but it works way better as an app game. A few more features would be nice such as leaderboards and a ranking system. There has been plenty of new content over the years to keep you coming back for more. With the latest release the game has a much more polished look and feel and improved menu system. Newer players will appreciate this, but as a veteran player I will miss the more indie look and play of the previous version. The game play feels slower now but will not be something new players will be aware of as it still plays quickly. If you deckbuilding games this is a must buy.

Now unplayable.. Edit: with the new update and new iOS, thankfully... this game is back to fun!! Amending my rating to four stars because there are still a few bugs, but overall, my go to game is back! Thank you! This used to be my “go to” game when I had some downtime. Now, it’s a mess. It crashes at least once on startup. The animations are sluggish and slow the game down (especially when you miss that discard pile!). Little bugs like when you kill a cultist with a Pathwarden, the cultist will disappear. The only way to get it back is to go to the lobby and restart your game. These are just a few of the issues this new version has. Like I said, it used to be a solid app, now it’s frustrating and not worth the effort.

Need more bundles. I have played this game for a long time, mostly offline. Great cards and lots of deck build options if you switch which packs are active. I purchased the first bundle, and have honestly been waiting for the next bundle to drop so I can purchase more cards. Right now, it doesn't feel worth it to buy each pack individually when it may come out in a bundle in the future, and some game bundles won't let you purchase bundles if you've already brought a part of it. I'm too scared to buy packs because of this risk. Please either make more bundles, or if you are never making bundles again, make that clear as well.

Recent update/overhaul is awful. I have been playing Ascension since it came out, and have bought every expansion. For the past 6 or 7 years Ascension has been by far the #1 most played game on my phone -- AI games were perfect for long DMV waits. The game itself remains great. This recent update, however, has ruined the game for me and all my friends I play with. The animations are torturously slow (even on the 'fast' setting), the drop targets for dragging/releasing cards are smaller and worse, the cards are tinier and way more difficult to read, the performance of the app is noticeably worse, and information about the state of the game is much more difficult to glean. This is all not to mention the innumerable new bugs that have popped up -- I'm sure those will be fixed eventually, but the core issues here are the UI/UX redesign that is worse in every single way I can enumerate. I gave the new version a shot, I really tried; the tinier card and art detail started giving me an actual headache, in addition to having to spend extra arduous effort in the now-clunkier UI. All my weekly games with my friends have all abruptly stopped. This update has actually *taken away* my favorite iOS game from me.

LOVE IT, always a game to play. First things first I absolutely love this game. I have bought every expansion and the promo packs. What’s great about there in app purchases is that they are very affordable the most expensive one I believe is $4.99 the least expensive is $.99 or $1.99. The endgame purchasing is only if you want to play with different cards. This game never pushes their in app purchases. And for a free game it doesn’t have any ads. I have read a lot of reviews stating that there aren’t enough people playing this game so therefore not worth downloading. Who let me tell you it is changed I can always find a game online I have found 4 to 5 new friends that we continuously play so that there’s always a game going on and I have never played against the AI since I downloaded this game 5 months ago. If you enjoyed Deck-building games this is a must have!!!!

Update made my experience worse (again). Update: I have rethought my initial 2 star rating and have given this 1 star because the game says I have to update to play online and there i no update available in the store. They dont seem to care about UX, save your money or spend it playing any other board game TL;DR. Great game, bad experience relative to older versions. This use to be one of my favorite games to kill time either online or offline. Now it is frustrating to use. I own an iPhoneX and I cant swipe cards up into play without triggering the phone’s “Home” gesture. Did you test this update on a X? And!, when it goes into the background it immediately logs you out of the server and so you have to go thru the entire log-in and select game flow to get back to where you were!! Argh😤! It feels like target zones for dragging cards to Discard or Void have been made smaller. And when you release the card you want/defeated and you miss the target zone it lists lazily back to its original position. That speed should match the other animation speeds. I wish I could have the old version UI UX back. If my above concerns are addressed then I will change my review accordingly.

Great game. Ugh wrote a review years ago, but it seems to have been deleted. This is a fantastic card game - I've been playing it on iOS since day one and have every expansion. This new update (May 2018) is the best one yet! New UI, in-game chat (finally!), and a Gift of the Elements expansion. The only thing that needs to be fixed is on the iPhone X, the virtual home button needs to be not just hidden but "deactivated" (can't be completely deactivated, but the partial at least means you need to swipe on it twice to bring up the app switcher). As it is now, it's way too easy to accidentally bring up the app switcher when you play cards, which then logs you out of network play - very annoying!

The redesign ruined what was great. Was initially great but the redesign and layout are suboptimal. 1. The transition to a darker, purplish color scheme along with change in font and more 'fantastical' appearing artwork make this game a chore to play. All these design choices combine to create difficult to read the text, difficult to know what card is what. In the past, the contrast between the black star point, red damage, and white triangles were easy to differentiate. In this redesign, the color and shape contrast don't stand out enough, especially against the background. 2. Not updated to accommodate newer iphones - the notch, rounded screen colors make button and menu elements cut off. Additionally, the sheer act is dragging cards from your hand to the playfield is stymied by it's position near the ios drag to go Home bar.

What happened?. Normally, this would be a 5-star app. But the Asmodee version is horrible. Poor graphic user interface. Horrendous feedback lag every time you want to do something. This went from being a no-brainer "must get" app to an "avoid at all costs!" Especially if you're used to the smoothness of the original Playdek app. The Asmodee version is stable but the response time is still laggy compared to the silky smoothness of the original. And the UI is grotesque with the cards now going out of the screen area if you have more than 7 on a phone. It's a pity as I've logged in hundreds of hours on this app (the original Playdek version). EDIT: the Asmodee version has improved in terms of stability... but which genius there made the decision that an internet connection is mandatory to validate all DLC purchases? Only allows the core (free) game to be played despite me having purchased several add ons that can’t be played without the internet. Which is clever when I want to play the game on a flight.

Robbed of its legacy. As with many other reviews I’ve read here, I stared playing this game on release and I find myself coming back to it every week every day and I love the nostalgic feel it has to me as someone who’s played the game for around 5 years. That it until the latest update ... I came to find my favorite designs from chronicles of the godslayer butchered to this new stile that I’ve been seeing over the more recent packs that ultimately lack all the charm that got me involved with this game in the first place. I’ve downright refused the buy the latest expansions because I feel they don’t belong with the rest of Sabee’s beautiful artwork and feel from the earlier packs I’ve gotten to associate with “ascension” Please fix this and include an option to revert the to the old art we know and love. I feel like I’ve been robbed of an important part of what I’ve loved for so long. Thanks.

Marred by mired AI. The card game Ascension is s pretty solid game. It has wonderful synergy between cards and a mechanic that is quick paced and has a good amount of strategic deck building. The gameplay drawback is its ridiculous randomness, particularly when you purchase expansions. At times these expansion sets are reminiscent of playing Chutes and Ladders or Candy Land since you can randomly gain free cards by the dozen. That said, if you are selective with which expansions you buy the game is better balanced. Check board game geek to see which ones are ideal. The real issue with this isn't the gameplay. It's the slowdown. If the AI gets certain cards, too many cards in hand, or too many cards interacting with each other on the table it grinds to a halt. I've sat and stared for a minute or two waiting for the computer to slog through placing a few cards on the table. In a game where turns last an average of 10 seconds this is truly unforgivable, especially on an iPhone 6. A game as streamlined as Ascension shouldn't consist of 20 minutes staring at nothing and 3 minutes playing. Give this one a pass until playdek does something about the terrible slowdown. One year later and the game runs just as slow. Still not worth the time it takes to get through a slogged game.

Ascension. I have a friend who has the ascension physical card game he ya rise of vigil and the darkness one which I didn’t even find out where expansions until I started playing this game. It is really good I think the aim could be programmed a little bit better they seem to only go for the best value per turn in most cases without thinking of the long run. For example if they have four tubes and the board is full of heroes to buy and no monsters to kill they will get 2 heavy infantries instead of a mystic because it is more short term value which can lead to them punching the cultist later in the game up to seven times I got it to once. There is a lot of dlc for this game but it is literally the physical releases of the ascension game as well and those are way more expensive per pack so it is more worth it here plus this game was just made for a computer or phone setting with a lot of the effects going off in the background where you don’t have to keep track of them and possibly forget like in the physical version.

I am not a fan of the new look. I began playing Ascension in table top format when a friend brought it over and it was unlike anything I had played, so when I found out that there was a mobile version of it obviously I was thrilled. The version BEFORE the update was almost perfect. I had very few hiccups and the game ran pretty smoothly (unless the AI played many constructs at once). The update with the new look and play style is the reason this app receives a 3 star for me. The game obviously hasn’t changed but the controls and the smoothness that I enjoyed are gone. The app is glitchy, sliding finger controls are rough, and the overall update was a buzzkill for me. This game was perfect for killing time without using data and now I don’t have that anymore because of my frustrations with the updated look and feel. I love this game, don’t kill the app with a new look.

Almost unplayable on iPhone X or 11.. This was an amazing game on my iPhone 8 and previous models, but with how Apple has new phones accessing the home screen with the removal of the home button (a swipe from the bottom), this game has become virtually unplayable. The problem is 2 major design problems: fist of you even flick the bottom of the screen the game kicks you out, and second all of your cards you’ll play are located at the bottom of the screen making any move you make dangerously close to hitting this part of the screen. The worst part is that not only does even the tiniest slide from the bottom kick you out of the game, but Ascension completely logs you out, requiring you to first log in, then find your game, then take the turn you intended to 30 seconds earlier. Can someone from the development side please play the game for 30 seconds on a X or 11 and see how miserable of an experience this is?

From the table to the App Store. I really love this game! 9/10 - I play it every day. I had been playing the Ascension board game for a few months and this is a much better way to play. The only thing that I would like to see changed is with the card packs for purchase. I’d like to see a more real-life situation where all players can join games that include card packs they haven’t purchased; this way, it’s like showing up to a friend’s house to play the expansion that you don’t own. You can only create games with the card sets you have unlocked, but if someone else wants to play with other card sets, you can take a seat and play with their set.

Great game, 1 recommendation. Huge fan of this game and from a UX standpoint should be the template for how these games are designed on mobile. I own every expansion and in terms of hours used this is far and above any other game on my phone. My only request is to have an option to auto destroy as many cultists as possible when you only have attack power left but no enemies on the board to kill. Having to click the cultist then kill a bunch of times slows gameplay down when youre in your flowstate. Otherwise amazing game. Keep making digital expansions. Ill keep buying them.

So slow!. This used to be one of my favorite games to play on my iPad or iPhone. However, it has gotten to the point recently where the AI apparently can’t keep up with the card pool. This leads to the AI spending several minutes playing each one of its turns. Given that the AI can play practically instant turns on every other one of my apps, it makes Ascension not worth waiting for. It’s so bad that it affects my game strategy, as I know that I have to buy certain cards or they will cause the AI to hang up on every one of its turns. If this problem could be fixed, this would be a great game, but I have seen no reason to believe that the developers will fix it. Thus, the game is decidedly mediocre.

Love this game!. Ascension really is a GREAT game! Love everything about it, and have been playing for years! Have many of the physical games and expansion packs! The app however could be improved, the bar at the bottom when sliding up to pay cards sometimes makes me exit the game and then I have to watch everyone’s play over again! Very touchy if you are playing on an iPhone and not an iPad. Also if you are playing online with friends there is no option to up the honor like there is when you play w the computer. 60 honor game are just too short and I wish they would implement allowing to up the honor to 120 when playing two player with friends. Other than that five star game, just tiny improvement to gameplay in app!

Ascension - Mostly Great. I love this game. It’s simple, easy, and I enjoy my time playing it. The app was great except for when it would crash for having too large a combo, but maybe there’s no way around that for a phone app. There was an update within the past couple months that makes it almost as slow as it would get when I had a large combo with the old version. The artwork update is super cool, and I noticed the background shimmers now, but the overall performance is really awful. Everything takes longer now, there’s a much smaller range for drag-n-drop into the deck piles (and if you screw up then the card slowly crawls across the screen back to where it started when you initially grab it), constructs glitch in the middle of the screen when you have to destroy them and become unusable, and the game crashes now even when I have a mediocre combo. I wouldn’t be leaving that if I hadn’t paid for all of the expansions and what not. I love this game and hope to see it improve! Cheers

Good but buggy and crappy AI. I played the table top version with some friends and then downloaded the app so I could play and get some strategies down. While I have learned some things the AI is horribly bad. It has zero strategy and only plays to acquire or defeat every card it possibly can. It doesn’t try to play to faction strengths and can’t utilize many cards appropriately. In addition I’ve had multiple games freeze or glitch out. Most of them will freeze up while reloading. My most recent game I had left open while doing other things. When I went back in the app loaded as if I had exited. The game loaded successfully but at least 4 turns prior to where I had been and unable to play any cards rendering the game useless. It’s still fun but really annoying when you get a good game going and then lose it.

Not without issues, but worth it.. This is the first application that’s left a significant enough impression on me to leave a review. It’s not without faults, the game can eat through your battery fairly quickly, it’s laggy and not without bugs, but there hasn’t been another game that I’ve felt is worth the money I’ve put into it. The expansions add a fair amount of content and even though it wouldn’t be a game for everyone I don’t think there’s another game that I’ve found where I would consistently play and enjoy it as much as this. I find it relaxing trying to get a perfect solo game in against a CPU and getting just the right cards to get an “infinite turn” that eventually crashes the app and needing to start over again. If they can fix some of the more glaring issues and optimize it to run a bit better I’m sure there will be plenty more people who would like this game as much as I do. (Please return the capacity to buy “take another turn” cards from the void in offline though)

Unplayable, deleted. I got hit with the slowdown issue that others have spoken of, and the game has become unplayable. It started off with a little stuttering here and there, and slowly progressed to where the AI laying down a single card basically brought it to a screeching halt. I tried the various fixes and work arounds on the forums, but eventually nothing worked; even reinstalling the game and only using the base decks was barely helpful. My phone is, maybe, 8 months old, other games (that are far more complex graphically and otherwise) run perfectly fine, and I have plenty of space left. Some of the threads from past users suggest this has been going on for at least 2 years, so I guess I shouldn’t hold my breath for a fix. Also, before the slowdown demon got me, I noticed the shuffling was near nonexistent; you could pretty much predict what cards were coming next after a few turns. And the fanatic/event trophy spamming got a bit boring after awhile. I understand it’s part of the game, but it’s another RNG mess that detracts from overall strategies; one fanatic banish per turn is more than adequate, after that it’s just silly. I’m not interested in crushing someone because I got the right event with the right amount of combat points at the right time. Loses its appeal quickly.

Great game. Update May 2018: Used to play this app every day and I have the physical game and had every expansion for the app but the new release is just terrible. I’ve decided to not even buy the latest expansion pack. Maybe I’ll take another look in a few months to see if they fixed the app. Sadly I expect this release will begin a death spiral that due to lack of revenue will cause even less investment. Original review: This game remains one of my favorites. The AI is pretty good although it gets a little slow when it has a lot of options. Although the quality is pretty good I hit a bug of one sort of another every few hundred games. Stupid things like if I have 100+ cards in my discard pile I can't destroy any after the first x number. Obviously if that's my only complaint it can't be all that bad.

Too Many Bugs. The game is fun and when I started playing it worthy of 4-5 stars, but a while ago (year maybe?) they did a major update making the game more aesthetically pleasing. The update also brought a ton of bugs with it. Most of the expansions would crash or bug out whenever a certain set of circumstances arose; some have been fixed, some not. However, the most overriding “bug” is for a couple months now the game will randomly crash without warning, often not letting you back in for several minutes to hours. By all means play the free version of the game, but I’d recommend not spending money on any of the expansions or promo decks until this glitch is fixed. I’ll edit this review when it is.

New design has ruined gameplay. This used to be my go to game when I needed a 10 minute diversion. While the rules and gameplay have not changed in the new version, the UI has been destroyed. The swipe-up to put cards into play is interfered by new iPhone 10 functionality of closing an app. The card destinations of the void and deck are too small and I am constantly having cards returning to the main pile. The action buttons that come up when double clicking a card are too thin and require precise clicking. And lastly, the game freezes sporadically and will either need time to accept another action or an app stop and re-open. The game is fundamentally sound, but the new design must be fixed.

Finally Deleted. After the last update the game has a bug when I log in. Sometimes it does not recognize my password. Although, I'm entering the same password everytime. I had my password saved, but that caused again endless loop of an invalid user name/password error message appearing that couldn't be closed. Even when I closed the app and reopened the error message reappeared. After rebooting my phone I unchecked the save password indicator, and didn't have any log in problems for a while. Now, the app is acting up again, and will not accept the password I use to log in every time. In addition, noone I play with is getting notifications, so my games sit there inactive for hours or days after I take a move. Considering all of this, it isn't worth it to keep this app on my phone. It's unfortunate because I really enjoyed the game prior to the update. I'm just thankful I never purchased a bundle pack I was considering.

My favorite iPhone game, but buggy on my XR. For the past few years, Ascension has been my favorite way to get my board gaming fix when I’m killing time in a line or when I’m flying. The experience of the game itself is fantastic within iOS, and the price for the expansions is very reasonable for the amount of fun that I get out of them. I just upgraded my phone from a 6S plus to a XR and I was looking forward to avoiding the game crashes that happens sometimes when I have a really complicated and long game involving chaining multiple turns together since the XR has much more robust processing power. I was very surprised to find that the experience on the XR is much worse than it was on the 6S because the game constantly stops responding in the middle of my turns. I have to end up killing the game, going back to restart the app, and the game usually locks up again within five minutes. Please address whatever issue the app is having so I can go back to my favorite iPhone game. Thank you.

Pretty good no brain game. The game is pretty good and a lot of enjoyment can be found in it. That being said it has a few problems. Firstly the online doesnt even exist nobody plays this game online so be ready to either do couch co-op or just play against the ai. The game also puts a lot of its content behind paywalls that being said i have enjoyed the expansions and how poorly implemented they are. As an example of how badly implemented this game is you can turn on 2 expansions and within 5 turns have beaten any opponent due to several ways that you can gain infinite turns without using glitches. The game also has a few bugs. Most of the ones that i have found are related to playing more than 100 cards in a turn. There are also a few card interactions that need to be hammered out. All that being said it is a good looking game that works well for wasting time. I particularly enjoy the games esthetic and the fact that you can break this game and then revel in the games lack of balance. Its kind of like the might and magic games, cosy as hell and extremely unbalanced. Also if you are turned off by the aforementioned pay wall its worth noting that the base deck is perfectly fine on its own. If you want to buy expansions these are the ones i would recommend: return of the fallen, dreamscape, promo pack 3, 4, and 5. I would not recommend buying dawn of champions. The other expansions range from ok to hot garbage.

Such a sad decline. I’ve been playing Ascension since the beginning, purchased every expansion, and have been a very active player up until about four months ago. They forced an account merge between Asmodee and Playdeck which led to me not being able to log in at all since. My initial contact was through the app interface and I got no response at all. I’ve since contacted support several times via email and kept getting the same response. “We’re sorry, and have forwarded your issue on to the team in charge”. I’ve started asking for a refund about two weeks ago and have been ghosted with no response since. Truly terrible support and very poor customer service. What happened Asmodee?! Guess I’m going to now have to resolve this through Apple.

One of the only phone games I've dropped money on.. Faithful adaptation of a solid deck building game. Expansions are meaningful purchases, not just loot crate/casino tactics. Pretty good AI, local multiplayer (on a single device), and a decent online multiplayer setup. Rough around the edges and lacks polish, but well worth having in your library of apps. The sluggishness people report seems to stem from long AI games with many expansions. Phone processing power probably affects it, but I've not had the AI take longer than a minute to play out its turn with 4 players near the end of the max victory point game. Come play online!

Great game, frustrating app.... I’ve enjoyed this game and app for years. Unfortunately, the app has become more and more unstable over time. It is now routinely freezing and crashing on games that will not reload (without crashing) on restart. It’s had a big issue for a while where it will freeze when you try to end your turn which can be “fixed” by quitting the app and then reloading the game (but is annoying and takes time). Also, it’s been more challenging to perform certain actions since getting a iPhone XR since the swiping action to return to the home screen is often triggered when trying to play cards if you’re not especially careful. Hopefully there will be an update to help with stability.

Cheating much?. I love this game, don’t get me wrong, but the game has a tendency to cheat. Last game I played, they got a card from their dreamscape that can once a turn double the monster they killed’s honor points. It doubled 3 in the same turn. I’m no genius, but that’s well over the one per turn. That’s just one of many times I’ve caught the computer players cheating, and just glassing over it like no big deal. Another instance to prove I’m not just spouting garbage is when they have no power left but can somehow get one or two more cultists or finatics... is it just me or do all card games now a days have cheating ai? If it’s because players are good then, um, no, no excuse. I bought the expansions because the base game became too repetitive, and now I get cheating in the game. Way to sell those expansions. If I didn’t know better, I’d feel ripped off.

Great game still. This is still a great game despite all the griping about the artwork change, which is subjective in my opinion. I have not had connectivity issues and recent update fixed some of the broken artwork displays. However I have a gripe about the UI for new phones, like iPhone X. The notch covers part of the screen. If you hold the bottom of the phone in your right hand, my default preferred way to hold in landscape, the notch covers the dreamscape tab. This is a big problem in usability. A workaround is to flip the phone the other way, which gives access to all buttons, but the notch still covers part of the display, E.g. this covers the text for rule book. Also playing cards from the bottom frequently gets interpreted as activating home button, which is very annoying. Other games implemented a detection so you have to pull up twice before you are sent home. Now that this app is obviously under active development again, I would expect usability issues like these to be fixed. Thank you.

Love StoneBlade stuff. Great game, but they changed something that makes me switch to another app constantly when I swipe certain ways. That can be incredibly frustrating, considering it completely kicks you out of the game and you have to sign back in. Wish it would go right back to the game. I feel like it used to be better. I don’t recall this much anger about the app when I used to play years ago. Sometimes it’s a lengthy process to find a game, as the player base has dwindled. I’m sure the bugs, that came with whatever update was responsible for this, dried it up even more. Would be much better if Honor Pool could be increased for online games. The option is there for offline games, so it shouldn’t be asking for too much. For that reason, the physical copy is much better. The game just starts getting really interesting in the last few rounds. If you are just starting, I suggest not joining or creating any “10-minute” games. They can be frustrating, and not nearly as fun. Most of the ones I play are in the 3+ day range. That gives you plenty of time for other things. The game could be played in 10 minutes, if you are both online. But, it gives you both room to breathe. Buy the physical copies of the game. I highly suggest them. The app is nice because it handles the shuffling and the calculations, but the lack of game options cripples it. In my opinion. Which this is.

Loved the old version of the app but not this version. I have played this game for many years and usually purchase the new decks as soon as they come out. I have a close group of friends that I play games with and we have probably logged a few thousand games. Since the update to the app I have dreaded going into the game. My notifications in the corner of the app display no longer show up, the interface is clunky, if you do not stage the card to precisely the right spot is SLOWLY moves back to its original location even when the animation is on the highest speed. The outer menu that show all of your current games is horrible. It is far to large for the information that it displays. I really enjoyed this game and I wish you would consider taking out some of these “upgrades” so we can have the game we love back.

totally wastes the space available on an iPad Pro 12.9 inch. It's a decent game, though very limited by single deck and all others cost money (single/basic deck is still fairly interesting though). Biggest issue is that often times when they update the game they REQUIRE you to download the game again, even if you do not care about anything in the update...like they never heard of backward compatibility or something. Worst thing is the layout on an iPad Pro 12.9 inch… Some of the controls block the view of the first few cards in your hand when you have several constructs… I can't understand why they couldn't lay out the screen a little better for the massive screen size available on the iPad Pro 12.9 inch!

Great game! Has a few bugs. I love ascension in physical form and on the app and the app plays just like the main game. However, if you mix and match expansions, there are some features for some that get implemented even without the necessary extra bits being implemented (treasure cards and light/day for example). Additionally there are a few instances where the game will just crash out in a game and it will every time you try and restart the game. One last glitch I just encountered is that when a computer player has a control room as it’s lowest cost construct and a control room comes up on the board, it will enter an infinite loop of trading one control loop for the other. All in all though, great game.

Purchases disappear and no support. Over the last four years, I have purchased every expansion for myself and another player. Recently, I got a new phone, and reached out when I could not pull up to the games that I have on going with other players. Imagine my surprise one on my old phone, the other player in the family had all of the decks, again on a phone that they did not use, and on my new phone, at least all the decks do not show, even on several gams I have been in for over a year. I reached out and received garbage directions that have not worked for over four attempts. I have made every attempt to reach out to Toby and their customer service who takes about a week to respond, since these are time sensitive games, those games have expired due to this company’s lack of critical customer support. All. Decks were purchased for two players, which is more expensive than purchasing the game. Support shouldn’t take a month for basic steps, and they know this is an issue, as evidently others have experienced, and reported the same. Waiting to exhale, but I do not expect customer care or product support.

Excellent programming. An amazing game. Programming has made this a true delight to play, with notifications and the ability to see the other player take their turn if they are online at the same time. Please add an in-game note of what sets are being played. Update: please help. The link process was confusing and now my entire friend list is empty except for one friend. I have contacted the friends I can and they are struggling to update. This has been a seamless port and an excellent gaming experience, but I am worried that this new road bump will lose a lot of players. Also if there was some way to see what expansion options were being used while in a game, that would be cool.

**updated** May 23rd update makes this unplayable. ****Update June 26th********* The developers have fixed the worst bugs introduced with the May 23rd update. I’m getting used to the newer aesthetics, but it’s still more susceptible to internet lag than the older version, and the loading screens are still longer. I enjoy the game itself enough to keep playing, and hope the developers keep improving it. ******************************** The update that went out May 23rd makes this app almost unusable. Games take too long to load, and game play is laggy. The cards are too big, and the deck and discard piles are too small - it makes it difficult to drag cards to your deck or discard pile. It uses more battery life than before. This used to be one of the few games I could play all day without draining my battery, but not anymore. Nothing about this update is an improvement. It makes me sad, because I loved this game, and spent quite a bit of money on it. Hopefully they will fix the issues soon...

Great game, few flaws. The latest update is a major overhaul of the UI. Some of it I like. The animations even on the fast setting are too slow and I find myself having to wait for it often. The UI is just generally slower. Some of the spots you drag cards to are smaller and hard to hit like the cloud on the dream expansion and the void. It seems you can drag everything to the big main play area for defeating monsters, and acquiring cards which helps so It’s mostly just discarding and choosing dream cards that is harder. I’ve not been playing this new version enough to know if the ai still slows on some card combos. Though my credentials are saved I still have to click login to play online. The update did clear out a stuck offline game I had and also fixed the inability to play online over mobile data on some carriers bug. —- was and I still feel this way — I've been loving this longer than any other game I've installed. Each new pack changes things enough to keep giving it interesting new twists and keep the replay value high. Thanks for a great game!!

A decently fun game with a slew of issues. I’ve played Ascension since it was first released in a small batch, I’ve backed it, and I used to beta test. I’ve played too much of this game, and it’s always been something I’ve used to relax. The 2 star review is for this most recent update, and for issues I’ve seen persist throughout the updates. As of right now, the newest update is almost unplayable. Online games have problems matching, you cannot control how many players you want in a game, once you create an online game you cannot delete it, and for the love of Benalia PLEASE adjust aspect ratios to fit different sized screens like the iPhone X. I appreciate they’re trying to give the game a facelift, but how this got pushed with so many issues I cannot fathom.

The best. It is my first time to invest money in a game, because it’s really worth it!

Bugs fixed. After feedback they worked to fix the bugs I had been experiencing and now I can play the game again!! There is still a slight bug that makes online games crash but I believe this will be fixed in a timely manner. Great game.

Disappointing since update. Well, they fixed the white screen of death, but this app still crashes so often I can't play live games anymore and I am questioning whether asynchronous play is worth it either. This was my favourite game, I bought lots of the expansions, but now I play Star Realms. 😪

Great game. Dreadful app.. This is a bit of a protest vote. But, I love this game, but have almost completely stopped playing it. The new app is just horrible. It’s ugly, slow, and makes the game harder to play. I don’t know what they were thinking.

Excellent game. Really enjoyed it, play it at least 4 times every week

Superb Deckbuilder. This is a superb game, but 2 things could be improved. Firstly, HARDER AI. The hardest AI is currently far too easy to beat. Secondly, we should be able to set custom victory points. Being able to play for longer (using a larger victory point pool) would allow us to build much more interesting combos of cards. The current limitations on max VPs makes games too short.

Great strategy card game. I have never played a game in this genre but have loved Ascension. I regularly download games, play them once or twice then return to my old favourites. Ascension has JOINED my list of old favourites, after only three days!

Locked out on an iPad 1 IOS 5.0.1. After buying all the previous expansions I am now locked out of all my 20 current multiplayer games because The app says I have to update, but I cannot update because I do not have and cannot get iOS 6. Why can't I continue with my current games? You seemed to have jettisoned all players on older devices and bricked the multiplayer game for them. The revamp in early 2018 has turned this from a game with an almost perfect interface into a rather mediocre one. Still playable but nowhere near as enjoyable as it used to be.

New version very buggy. This is classic case of, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The previous version of the game was fine. At times when playing against the “phone” the time taken by the phone to play its turn was stupidly long, but other than that it was very good. Now, in the few days since the update, there are so many bugs it’s ridiculous: cards that disappear under your finger, the game suddenly freezing, and Mordant Widow basically crashing the game as you have no way, that I’ve found, of actually destroying your opponent’s construct. What was once a great distraction on a long commute to and from work is now driving me to distraction. Hopefully there will be a patch soon to fix the bugs. Oh, one more thing, the previous version was very light on battery usage, but now it chews though battery like a termite through wood. Note to developers - if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Brilliant computerised remake. Currently having online issues and failing to connect, but I expect them to fix that very shortly. Otherwise it's a great game

Excellent game - good mobile adaption. Ascension has given many hours of play to me and is highly addictive and fun. The mobile app is a great adaption of the original card game and presents it well in both style and ease of playability.

Great game. Love it, great game when u first get your head around all the little tricks, I would like more points because I find just as u get a good card set the game is over and there is no real big scoring, more cards!

How do I face ai. Can you please include an option to face ai.

Stumbled upon, meh.. Stumbled upon this, paid for it, played the Tutorial and got excited. After winning the next 3 bouts it occurred to me that there's no reason for winning. There's no storyline, no rewards like money to buy cards, you just.. win.. and play again.. with this meh deck. I don't get it, there's no purpose in continuing to play. Expensive mistake buying this, has potential but hasn't gotten close to reaching it.

Fun game looking forward to future updates. The more updates the better it gets, a work in progress.

Great Deckbuilder, just a couple of things. Still my favourite go-to game on iOS. So much depth and potential in every game. Love it. Still the gold standard for card game interaction. Only a couple of technical issues with it. Firstly the performance seems a bit sluggish. Even on the new iPhone XS the frame rate isn’t very good, which seems odd for the complexity of what’s on screen. Probably more than it seems, but still. (I have been spoiled by the excellent PC version too, which is also great) The other issue also stems from a recent upgrade to the iPhone XS, the notch. There’s a chunk of game hidden behind the notch, and the rounded screen corners don’t quite line up either. The former is actually an issue, the latter just a cosmetic thing. Gameplay wise there’s nothing much to complain about, it’s great fun and the extra mechanics added by the expansions are perfect for swapping in and out. I would like the option to push the honor pool to a higher value, as others have mentioned. With a few expansions enabled it can take a while for the deck to start ‘working’. Oh, and a button to spend all remaining red runes on cultists would be good. 20 runes and nothing in the center row? Lots of dragging ;) So yes. If you like deck builders or just mobile card games at all, this is one of the best. Easy to learn, great controls and some excellent expansions for when you’re ready to add complexity.

Exceptional. Don't hesitate, this is an excellent app! Extremely well polished, I have encountered zero bugs. The art direction is beautiful and the gameplay is well balanced. The game allows robust a-synchronous multiplayer which works flawlessly. Well worth the low price. My only complaint is that, as far as I can tell, there is no way of chatting to your opponents in game. Hope this feature can be implemented soon!

Addictive. Really entertaining. It's different from any strategy card games and the uniqueness of the game is quite enjoyable. No problems for me. Good job.

Playfield is awful on iPhone 11. Buttons are cut off by the screen edges and the notch, hard to play unlike a rectangular screen. Update for iPhone 11 serious is needed to improve playability.

Consists mostly of luck and spam.. The ultimate goal of the game is to snowball your resource output and card intake as fast as possible. To do so takes little effort and a lot of luck to see if you can steal the better cards from the 'shared' card pool in the middle.

Best fantasy card game on the iOS!!!!. Beautifully designed, well polished and NO bugs:3 Is the best card game I've ever played on a computer or apple product. Don't hold back!!!!!!

Very good!. Finally a proper CCG-like game. Excellent interface, in-depth game play, love it. If only MTG would get their act together and do a proper app for iPad. One thing needed...some sort of stats for solo play won/loss ratio would be nice. Well done, worth the investment

Good Fun, Addictive. Interesting game and good interface makes for a fun experience. Please please update to retina graphics and the game will be perfect.

Ascension. The best card game ever, a little tricky to learn but once you know it it's awesome. I've had this game for two years now and when I get bored with other games or finish them I always go back to this one. A must have!!!!!!

Amazing. I play this game all the time if I find myself waiting somewhere. Pay to unlock new decks, but you get the base deck for free which is more than enough. A really great game.

Fantastic game. Online multiplayer is great and you can always find a game. Highly recommend, and hope they release another expansion.

Replay for 4+ years. All time single player strategy card game, have played for over 4 years, replay value is immense and I love all the expansions and the ai player can be quite challenging.

Best game on iPad. This is easily my favorite game on iPad with countless hours wasted playing. Since Storm of Souls was released its only gotten better. If you love MTG or Dominion, pick this up now! Hell, if you like Card Games pick this up now. Can't wait for the new sets to come in future. Only additional thing I would like is the 3rd AI difficultly, it even looks like it's meant to be there?

broken. i loved the ascension app; i played it more than any other app on my iphone. now it is a laggy, broken mess and i am gutted that i cannot revert to the previous version. who makes these decisions ffs? Update Apr 2019: So now I can only play expansions online. If I’m offline, they all show as locked. Abyssmal.

Nothing but up.. Always getting better, it would be nice to have a higher max honour for each game but that being my biggest complaint shows how good this game is.

Love the game but hate the new update. The new update is slow and ugly. Previously the game ran smooth on fast and I enjoyed playing it but now it’s just unplayable. I’ve given it a few chances but I just can’t stand it now.

No campaign!. This is a very good game. I think it could use some sort of single player campaign mode where you have to defeat ai characters to win a tournament or something. Other than that it is a near perfect game. The artwork on the cards is very neat.

Asynchronous multiplayer!. This is a brilliant and polished game. It takes a while to get used to but it soon makes sense, and the level of care that has gone into making the user interface is impressive. It is quite simply a joy to play. Other reviewers don't seem to understand that this is an "asynchronous" multiplayer game. So other players don't need to be online! Of course people are showing as offline, that's the idea. Send them a challenge and their phone or iPad will tell them it's their turn. When they're ready, they'll log on and play.

Repetitive but fun. Fun game although only a couple of strategies are really viable AND fun. The AI has a game-breaking flaw where it can take up to 10 seconds to make 1 move. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

Buggy as hell. This used to be awesome. Since the last update it crashes all the time

Absolutely amazing... Just one qualm.. This card game has everything and the expansion decks are all different challenges that requires you to constantly rethink your strategy. Every game will be different. The replayability is enormous. I've bought all of the expansion decks and the promo decks as well and it has kept me playing for hours. My only qualm is the limited honor points system. While essentially a way to let the game build in intensity and expectancy with an end in sight, I find the points to be too low. Often, I find that the game is just starting to warm up and then it ends abruptly. It's quite frustrating when you've just overtaken the points leader. But I find the game ends too early even though I boost the points to the max. Technically, you can get more points than the system offer (once I got up to 900+ points) but that was pure chance and refined strategy. At that point, I knew the game was going to end after my turn. My suggestion would be to increase the max points to 500 (can be toggled by 100), that would increase my willingness to play more in-depth. I still have yet to play all of the decks together. Another suggestion would be to include a marathon play where the game ends when there are no more non-monster cards on the top and center rows. Please consider making these changes. I love this game very much.

Great fun against friend. Polished implementation of a strategy card game. Great for multiplayer against friends be its turn a day or a complete game in quick fire.

Wait until they fix it. What used to be my favourite, perennial game that I played for years... I now no longer play. They issued a new update which (a) is ugly; (b) crashes frequently and (c) has a AI that takes FOREVER to take turns. What used to be my main addiction is now something that I never use.

Well worth it. Awesome game play very interactive for a card game and like the online play just wish it would show online players first

Keeps getting better. Keeps getting better with each expansion pack.

Glitch. I love the game. Got allmost all expansions. Ever since latest update I can't end my turns online and offline so I can't play at all please fix!

Broken with update. Given up on this card game. Great way to reduce interest and I expect developer’s revenue

What happened?. I’ve been playing this game for about four years. Love it. Downloaded the update yesterday and now it crashes every second hand. Also I have no idea what’s happening as apparently I play all characters....I’ll play the tutorial when it stops crashing but what happened to the game I love? Update: tutorial didn’t help but have worked out how to deactivate the NPC in offline. Happy again, but miss the card pictures. They were much lovelier before.

Ruined game. Classic example of a game that needed only tweaks, ruined by an “improved” UI overhaul. Battery drain, UI that does not conform to latest iOS standards, and just outright poor responsiveness to gestures, this game is an embarrassment. Very sad that it has come to this - developers just don’t seem to care :(

Addictive but crashes too often. I really like this app to the point of buying the 2 upgrades. However unfortunately since the 1.2.2 update, it frequently crashes and I would not recommend buying this app until this has been fixed.

Ascension. It’s time to pay the ferryman! Get your act together and put out a bug fix for your latest release that crashes constantly by closing down on the latest apple ios. Otherwise you will lose loyal followers like myself who have been with you from the beginning. The clock is ticking!

About time. The card game I have been waiting for. Two thumbs up!

Not a fan of the new UI. Sooooo not a fan of the new UI! Downloaded the update and... what the hell?! OK, the buttons stand out, but they don’t match the graphics/style of the rest of the game. Which has all changed to look more cartoony. Now when I go to play my turns in my current games, the layout looks tacky and awful! What happened?! Who thought this would be a good thing? Who looked at this and thought, “yes, I think the game should look like this”, and signed off on this design. I wish I could roll back to a previous layout. 😳😤 If there is a way to decline game invites it’s really well hidden. so now I have a game invite from some random for a game I can’t play because I don’t have the expansions, and I can’t decline it. 😤 This new UI is ruining my love for a game I have played for over a year (you can see my original review from before below). Saw a review that questioned the point of this game/point of winning... The point is that the gameplay is fun. Well, it used to be anyway. The strategy and tactics are ever-changing. The point is bragging rights when you beat the pants off your friends, and the frustration when they beat you by *one* *frigging* *point*. Love it! Been playing for over a year and never get sick of it. Until now.

Huge replay potential. This is the one game I keep playing on the iPad. The potential for strategic play against real people is unmatched on the app store, once you get your head around how the various card sets and capabilities offset or complement each other. Although I've enjoyed quite a bit of gaming over the years I had no familiarity with these kinds of card games before a friend recommended Ascension. Now I am completely converted.

Recent UI update destroyed what was a fantastic game. Recently the entire UI was updated. This update was unneeded, unwanted and ultimately a horrible idea. The game went from being a favourite to being an annoyance to play. I’m not sure what they were thinking.

App is crashing. Latest update with artwork and animation revisions has introduced a number of bugs and slowed down overall game play. This is even with fast animation turned on. Crashes every time I play now

Wow. This used to be “the” game. I remember playing it on my ip4. It was well balanced and curated for the players and players only. Now it’s all about micro transactions. It’s way unbalanced. Game-crashing bugs every time I use it. It has plummeted down to something I am ashamed of having on my phone.

Crashing. Not even starts.

New update disappointing. Just tried the new updated and was disappointed. For me the issues is simply the new graphics and animation affect my enjoyment of game. I find the new graphics for the cards hard to see differences when playing on phone. Too dark and all the cards looks the same. Would have been nice to have the option to keep old graphics. The animation seems slower and clunky compared to previous version. I did not have a issue either crashing yet. Previous version I would have given 5. Played it every day. This version probably not.

App no longer works. Offline mode crashes right out of the main screen. I don't understand how a bug this bad could possibly ever get released. This game used to be great but it feels like a ripoff now, especially after buying all the expansions.

Crashes & Hangs with latest update. Not sure why the revamped version wasn’t tested more before release. It crashed multiple times and then now my game is stuck & crashes upon reload. Not playable at all.

Very Underrated. Very relaxing and methodical gameplay for a card game. If you like roguelike deck-builders welcome to one of the big inspirations for the genre. Also—blissfully— there’s no ‘gamification’ systems added to this game at all. No progression systems, lootboxes, daily logins, battlepasses, etc etc. Just get the app, and buy expansions if you want more; you get all the cards immediately. Wonderful.

Ascension. Is it just me, or are others unable to get into the online game the last couple of days? It says invalid password, and then forget password brings me to a 503 error

Love the game but.... I’ve had so many games become incompletable because the game crashes. The saved game has to be deleted as loading it will cause it to crash again.

Asmodee broke this game :(. This game used to be great, but asmodee decided to mess with a good thing when they took over from Playdek. Issues now include floating cards that won’t disappear, inability to view your entire hand, cards covering important info... the list goes on.

After all this time. I have been playing this game for years (before ANY expansions) and it still holds up. Glad to see that an update comes out every now and again. I have bought all expansions and card bundles without question. I will always have this game on any device I own. Thank you.

Can’t connect playdek and asmodee accounts. Fun game. AI can be a bit slow at times during offline play but lots of players online.

Love the game, not latest expansion. Frequent player; hate new design/app. Animations are jumpy. Font size looks like it’s a senior citizens edition. There’s now a lot of needless glowing. App crashes randomly. Also not impressed that developers didn’t suspend this update after receiving so many bad reviews.

New version disappointing. Much preferred the old version. New version is slower (both in both CPU consumption and in playing speed). There are lots of flashy animations that take up play time. Card graphics are emphasized rather than card text. More precision is required when dragging cards around the table. The only new feature I appreciate is the in game chat

I just watched my favorite game get destroyed. This is the game I play every day. My favorite game on iPad. Now, thanks to this new update/developer... -Constructs cover over cards in your hand -I am no longer able to accept game invitations -Animation is glitchy and buggy To call this update a catastrophe would be an insult to catastrophes.

Love the game hate the app. I love this game and continue to get enjoyment out of playing regularly. That being said the app is very counter intuitive on iPhone - the layout means that half the time when dragging a card from my hand it switches to my main screen - and because every time you so much as wiggle the app it disconnects you from the server it means I have to reload the game all the time when trying to play - sometimes three or four times in a row in one turn. Add to this that when it’s the first card I try to play it forces me to sit through my opponent’s last turn EACH TIME IT RELOADS, and I get super frustrated and routinely consider deleting this app...it’s frankly only the money I’ve put into the game that keeps me from doing that. As well, often you can’t double click on constructs so I have to open the tab in order to activate one. And don’t get me started on trying to scroll through cards and having it accidentally play or discard something I didn’t want to. This was a 5 star app until they kept messing with it. If the game wasn’t as good as it is I would rate this a 2 or even 1 star because of how obnoxious it is.

Crashes a lot. Really enjoy the game but it crashes a ton! Especially when you’re in the middle of a good game, it freezes and kicks you out.

Broken. Updated to 1.14.1 and the app no longer works. New update has come out since then which still hasn't solved the problem.

Awful update. Used to play this multiple times a day. Now it hardly loads, and when it does it looks and functions terribly. Can't see the value if card icons u less you open them, constructs block viewing cards in hands... Only good thing I can say is that there's an in game chat now, but I haven't used it much, as the game crashes!

Very bad interface. The old interface was perfect. You could play a card while another animation was going, and the card-play trigger zones were appropriately sized. Now you have to wait for each animation to finish before you can do anything, and the the triggers/targets are so small that card-plays have to be needlessly precise. What used to be a smooth-flowing game is now very frustrating to play. I bought every expansion before the change. I don’t even play now, because the game feels so bad. Ascension iOS is ruined.

Great time filler. I got into Ascension after my friend introduced me to it. This app does a good job showing how the game works and is very addictive. I would suggest selling more bundles so that it is easier for people to get into.

Great game. Love all the expansions!. Fun game, interesting mechanics. For fans of Hearthstone, Magic, Gwent this is a fun addition. Loved the expansions, please send more!

Recent update crashes a lot in offline mode on iPad 4 mini. This used to be one of my favourite games, but a recent update has made offline mode unplayable. I’ve been trying to finish a single game; for the first few dozen crashes and hangs, it was enough to restart the app from where I left off, but now it’s hit a crash it can’t get past and I literally can’t finish my game.

Last update over a year ago. The app seems to be abandoned. Don’t spend your money on it.

Since last update it crashes all the time.. Love it, but now it crashes all the time. I play to 120 points for my long bus rides.

Stopped working. Crashed at start of online game, until update. Now gets stuck on loading screen.

Best game ever, so close.. I have played hundreds of games and I wish they’d keep adding expansions and did some debugging. This is my wish...

New update is buggy. Game won't even open on my iPad anymore with new update. Just a blank white screen

Good game but crashes a lot. Ipad pro crashes a lot during play...

Awesome game. Never gets old.. Release more expansions please.

Raise the honor!!. Please raise the amount of honor in multiplayer online instead of the standard 60 honor, you provide that option on a single phone but not online

Fix it please. The game itself is amazing, but this app is plagued by a freezing glitch that appears far too often. Once your deck size gets too large (easy to do with all of the expansions), it will inevitably lock up and you will lose your progress. This would be a five star review without this glitch.

Needs to be fixed. Used to love this game. Got an iPhone XR and now trying to play exits the game accidentally all the time. I know this is Apple’s fault and not the game makers’, but it’s their responsibility to update the app with some kind of fix/work around. Until they do, my rating is one star.

Good game, but it doesn’t seem to be supported anymore.. It is way behind of its physical version. Expansions are not added anymore, and updates are mainly about bug fixes.

I’ve enjoyed Ascension for a long time, but the latest updates.... It’s actually bad enough that I will most likely delete the app. Utter failure guys.

New update no good. The new update is very difficult to read the cards, gets interfered with on iPhone X because of the home dash, and plays much slower than before. Often when ending turn it will pause for 10-20 secs and then ask to confirm end of turn. It could be good I’m sure but so many flaws. Every time I try to play an endurance card from the bottom it activates my home dash and tries to close the app. So annoying! I used to play the last version very frequently. I imagine I won’t invest my time into such a poorly designed app. Maybe it’s time to switch to Chess or Catan

Removed my previous purchase!. They are thieves, bought expansions a while ago now I have to pay again to play with them.

Crashing way too often. This is a great game. But lately the game is crashing a lot, at least 2 out of every 5 games. They need to fix this to make it a worthwhile purchase.

Ruined. App crashes outright on my 4th gen iPad. Used to be great but can’t play any more. You may be lucky on recent devices, but if not, Asmodee will be of no help to you.

Great game gets gooned. Awful. Just awful. Played this game daily & then this new version comes along & ruins everything. I’m out. Do not download or give them a cent.

Game crashes. While playing, there’s a particular card or sequence of cards that will instantly crash the game when drawn. This renders the game unplayable.

It got fixed!!!. They gave me back my expansions! The new layout is still less intuitive, and I wish we had an option to switch back, but I’m super grateful. Thank you ascension!

Terrible since update. Latest update uses a new engine which has destroyed the game for me. Don’t bother.

Offline mode crashes. The new update crashes frequently and kicks you out of the game.

Can’t Move Treasure. Playing RoV + DU + Promo 3. If I have a Wildcall Staff in play, and then play a Crystalline Monk to move a treasure from one affected card to another, the game freezes. Can this be fixed? I can’t resume the game, can only delete it.

Terrible update. I used to love this game but the new update is so terrible I stopped playing. Why can’t you offer us the choice of previous design!?

Yuck. Loved this app, now it’s all shiny and glitzy, beautiful cards from the early sets have been replaced by ‘new’ versions. Wish I hadn’t updated it. Why mess with a good thing?

Horrible new version. This app used to be great but they really messed up the re-design with a really poor interface. The interface is extra terrible on iPhone X - it's not optimized for the display at ALL (wasted empty space) and it's too easy to accidentally swipe the multiasking bar when playing a card - doing so causes Ascension to immediately exit back to the menu, and out of your game (in multiplayer). It takes rare poor talent to turn something good into something so shoddy. Please try harder to optimize this game for iPhone X!

Asmodee Update ruined the game. Cannot play on either iPad or iPhone now that Asmodee did an update. Crashes immediately. Sucks as I had almost all the expansions.

Frustrating. All of my purchased expansions are missing and the restore button does absolutely nothing.

My fav deck building game. This is my fav deck building game. I love the app and the different expansions. I’d like to see a stats record for offline play against AI. Or maybe more specific Win/Loss stats for each expansion you play. For example, if you select 4 expansions to play against AI or online opponent, you can see you specific WIn/Loss for that expansion. Overall great app. Just needs a little more stats.

Why do they refuse to listen to feedback?. Reviews and ratings are terrible. Revenue has to be down, and yet the developer won't even acknowledge that the ui has been destroyed, let alone fix it. This isn't rocket science to fix, but apparently either incompetence or arrogance prevents them from doing so. I've waited six months, and they have made absolutely no effort to correct ANY of the ui problems. If they gave a darn about their users, they would offer refunds since it's completely unplayable. Oh wait, if they gave a darn, they'd have just fixed it! Just deleted the app off the iPad, and will never buy any app from this developer again.

Love this game!. Got this game about a month ago and I've been so obsessed. Such an easy game to get into and great for on the go play. So happy I was introduced to this game. I'd love for their to be an option to filter out expansion packs when finding a game and also a way to have an endless game in offline mode. Would love to just have a continuous game going at all times without having to make a new one each time a game ends. Thanks for making such a great game!

Fun, but super buggy. I’m glad there’s a mobile version of Ascension, but I haven’t been able to make it through a full game yet because it crashes every few turns. I’ve noticed that it’s more likely to crash if you have a lot of cards on the field, or if you draw cards for which the artwork doesn’t load. Sometimes it’ll get stuck on a hand and I have to start a whole new game and delete the old one because it crashes as soon as I restart it. All in all, meh. It’s kind of hard to enjoy a game that I can’t even finish, but it was free, I guess...

My favorite game and app. Been playing Ascension mobile every single day for years and years. Literally my favorite and most used app on my phone outside social media. Sure, sometimes the AI slows down to "think" for a bit too long, and enabling too many decks does certainly diminish the unique strategic approaches to any given game, but overall this app is a grand slam, no question about it. My only regret is that there isn't a lite chat option so I can talk to the users I've been playing games with for years. Would love to just say hello. AMAZING APP and AMAZING GAME.

Great game. Very fun game, I play it everyday!!! For over a year I have played it but today I broke the game in multiplayer, I have over 8,000 honor and over 500 of both resources. The game booted me and when I try to reload that game it gets to 99% and closes the app. I only wish there was some form of chat, as I have been playing the game for over a year with at least one person with no chance to communicate with them. I broke it once before playing solo but this time is more epic

Stop reloading from the start screen. You guys have got to optimize this app for the last few iterations of iPhone. So many times when I am defeating the cultist or buying mystics or anything at the top of the screen it will slide down my iPhone Notification Center and then when you return to the app it starts over. This has been this way for a long time and it should be a simple fix. Either screen size optimizing or allowing the app to run in the background so it can be easily returned to without having to re-login. For the love of god, I’m very close to deleting it

Great game, failed app. I can’t speak highly enough of Ascension, the game. This app, however, is non-functional. I had the old version and played thousands of matches on it. This one barely runs at speed, and they’ve changed the look of the cards so that it’s much harder to tell what color they are at first glance (whether they are Lifebound, Void, etc). The old version’s cards were much clearer and more intuitive to look at. They’ve also made the hit detection on where you need to drag and drop each card ridiculously small: it makes me wonder if they even tested this before releasing it? It’s really, really, really, bad. Like, impossible to not notice playing in even one game bad. The old version of the app I gave 5 stars. This one I can’t even really play: the issues get way too much in the way, I just can’t get absorbed in the game. It’s especially frustrating because if they had just done nothing, to this app, it would have been just fine. As it stands, I have to say avoid this one.

Favorite deck building game. My family doesn’t like this game, but it is my favorite! So I was thrilled to find this app version. I can play at anytime! My two suggestions to the app developers: 1) Make it possible to increase the point pool when playing with two or more expansions combined. 2) Add the Pirate expansion! I know it’ll be more difficult to do because of the ships and the kracken. But I would seriously pay any $ amount for it!

Decent deck builder. This game is not a F2P and that is why it’s good. Play a deck and when it gets stale pay a nominal fee to try the next. Mix and match the expacs and try to break it. There are glitches but they mostly arise from doing stupid broken things with the combos, and honestly finding new ways to break this game is half the fun. I have never played the multiplayer, just the ai who is just smart enough to stay out of your way while you do ridiculous combos. 5 stars, highly recommended for fans of deck building.

Fantastic version of a fun game. Ascension is a fun deck building game and this is a wonderful adaptation of it. I usually judge digital table top games by how smooth the game makes it to just play a lot, and this app excels at making games go smoothly and quickly. I’ve played literally more than 1000 games in this app in the years that I’ve had it, and as long as they keep bringing new card sets to the game as IAP I will keep playing.

Great at first. First few times you play its awesome but as soon as you grasp the finer points of playing, every time you win you become disappointed as you realize everything you just accomplished is gone, you are further disappointed when you realize that you achieved nothing for your hard work, you can spend real money to get the expansions but you realize that it does not change the fact that after three or four games and the new cards wear out you still feel like ...man can't I even get a win/loss record anything other than just my memory of playing.

Love this game!. I have been playing this game for years, both the app and card versions. Very disappointed lately with the app. Seem the Dev team has been lacking. I logged in one day and had access to someone else’s account. I logged out and back in, but now I’m getting notifications all the time that it is my turn when it is not. Guessing I’m receiving notifications for that other player instead of mine. Both my roommate and I have noticed the announcements now just show the title of a function call, something like PLAYER_TURN_NOTIFICATION

Great game. This game is well built for an IPhone. There are only a few things I consider a downside (and they don’t affect gameplay much) 1. is you have to login everytime you make a play if you exit the app, 2. I wish they had a win/loss record like they use to 3.) while you can see monsters in the void you can’t see apprentices and militia that you have banished, you can remedy this by looking at your main deck. Great game overall!

Fix iPhone X bottom bar. Every time I try to play a card or drag a trophy monster, my game ends up minimizing to the home screen. Then I have to re open the app which doesn’t save the game state, so I have to click the game to go back into in, and finally, watch all the animations again for the current turn. Please fix the iPhone bar so it works like every other app, where one swipe simply gives the bar focus, and it takes a second swipe to minimize it. Hearthstone is a great example. While you are at it optimize the sides for newer screens as well, there is plenty of real estate.

Not a fan of the changes. I don’t want to be too hard on the developers because this game has not gotten a ton of updates recently and there is a lot in here that is very good. The changes to the board, the bigger card art, the unified backgrounds on the cards. These are all nice. But the game is now extremely slow. The “fast” setting used to be lightning quick but now it’s about half the speed it used to be. The result is a game that you have to wait a long time for often. It makes the game hard to play for me personally.

Terrible update. Hand zoomed in too far. Please give the option to go back to how the layout used to be. It is helpful to be able to read all descriptions of cards in hand at once. iPhone XR everything is zoomed in to just being artwork in hand, discard pile, etc. When looking at my hand I like to be able to see all descriptions at once. It was easy to see which cards had abilities like draw a card, banish, unite, etc just because the descriptions in cards are laid out in generally the same way. I have a constant 40+ active games and this will make that impossible to continue. :( Please give an optional to go back to old layout. RIP

Great port of the physical card game - a few bugs. The game is pre good in its current format. However, there a bug with some of the cards in the basic set, i.e. Godslayer, (I haven’t bought any expansions yet), where cards that are supposed to give you dual resources only give you one resource. It’s annoying as it has meant the difference between victory and defeat several times. It seems to happen with all dual resource generating cards. Other than that, the game does what it’s supposed to, even if the A.I. is sometimes a little weak.

5 star gameplay, 3 star UI. I’ve played mobile ascension off and on the past couple of years, and I think it’s unfortunate that an honestly good deck builder has a conspicuously sub-par UI. But give it a try! Core set is free and always has playability/replayability, if you want to spend then I recommend the bundle, and Darkness Unleashed is a lot of fun with the balance of card trashing abilities and the transformation mechanic...Vigil Rising, despite having the same mechanic, didn’t feel as fun to me, but maybe I just haven’t gotten the hang of it

Love the game, want to see more statistics. This is one of my all-time favorites. Great adaptation from the physical game. I'd even say this is better than the physical game because there is no cleanup or setup. One thing I'd absolutely love to see statistics versus your friends. I imagine that data is available/tracked somewhere. It would be really cool to have all-time bragging rights over friends because you could see what your record is between the two of you. Just my two cents.

Online Honor Pool Adjustment. I love this game. It would be nice though if one could adjust the max honor pool when playing online, like you can when playing offline. I get tired of only playing short games. Pretty please? Also I know it's not how the game is intended to play, but the option to set the honor pool higher than 240 if we really want to would be nice. When you're playing with all sets at once it's perfectly viable. You guys are awesome.

Great app with multiplayer issues. The game itself is lots of fun. Very quick to learn and games are fast and not super complicated. Design wise, the interface is fine. Issues: 1. No way to filter multiplayer games on the expansions you own. I've bought about half of the decks and I don't feel like I should have to stumble through games and marketing in order to find one I can actually join without buying more cards. 2. When you come back for your turn, the opponent's playback is too fast. It's nearly impossible to see what they bought/fought/played. I'd love to be able to step through so I could examine each card. 3. It's hard to play async games. If you set up a 10 minute game and your opponent doesn't start playing till half a day later, your timer just goes on and you'll be forfeited if you're at work or bathroom or something.

Love this game, but needs some love.. I absolutely love this game and play it every day online. However, the UX desperately needs some updates. Everything works great except for around the edges of the screen on iPhone X and newer. Anytime you swipe to move a card from the bottom or top of the screen, it closes the app or triggers Notification Center, which either logs you out of the account or crashes the app. PLEASE change something to fix this as it is super annoying. I've seen other apps where you have to swipe twice to trigger returning to the home screen or NC, please at least do this!

Broken AI, memory leaks. Unpleasant and buggy. Waste of money. Disappointing. There have been reported bugs for years but they have never released a fix. Recommend spending your money of game developers who fix bugs and care what their customers think. It's a shame, it would be a good game otherwise. Update: Among the many bugs the release introduced, you can no longer use it while traveling on a plane, which was one of my favorite ways of passing the time. It deletes your expansions, and without wifi, you can’t restore them. An unpleasant thing to discover on a ten hour flight. Recommend giving this game a pass, it will frustrate more than anything else.

Need a way to save your game!. This game is fantastic but it gets buggy and freezes/crashes periodically, especially when playing an epic 50+ card turn. While I hope that the designers could fix these bugs (the most consistent seems to be freezing when playing Great Omen Raven), a simpler fix would be to game-save functionality. If you’ve saved your game and the app crashes five minutes later, you can load the save and have only lost five minutes instead of the whole game.

White Screen (Latest Update). I loved this game so much I was playing it everyday and I bought some expansions too, it just gets better with each expansion, I cannot hesitate to call this the best card game I ever played, But, the last update was disastrous. I get a white screen right after opening the app and it goes like that, music plays, but nothing comes on screen.. its really sad, I love this game please fix this problem. Is this just an iPhone 5 problem? Developers please read this and fix it 😣 I dont know if there is anywhere else I can report for a problem or contact you guys, please respond!

Amazing app. This is one of the best implementations of a board/card game in app form I have played. I remember buying the expansion bundle years ago, and I feel it may not have transferred the transaction to my newest iPad, but I’m not 100% certain of that… If so, I’d dock it a star, but I really can’t remember. If you’re a deck-building fan, or you like the DC Comics deck-builder, definitely give this a look. I’ve played this for conservatively 200+ hours over the years.

Great game, disappointing software. Ascension is a really fun, well-designed game. Hard to give it a high enough recommendation. The problem is not the game, it’s the software. It’s buggy and slow. The AI sometimes takes minutes to take its turn. This is frequent enough that I often play Ascension on my iPad and have my phone handy to do something else while the AI takes its turn. I’ve seen AI turns that take 10 minutes. The developers have known about this problem for ages, and it never gets fixed. It’s ludicrous and, as someone who has worked as a software developer, unprofessional; apparently the developers have no pride whatsoever. And it’s buggy. There are display glitches, but worse than that it just randomly crashes from time to time, and when it does, you usually cannot resume the game that was in progress. I mean, it’s there, and you can load it up, but it just crashes again. If the software was half as good as the game itself, this would be five stars for sure.

Would like to rate higher. I absolutely love this game. I have all the board games, have it on my computer, and have had it on my phone for over 4 years! My low review however isn’t about the game itself, but Playdek. I have bought this game in its entirety 3 times now…. Imagine my frustration when I get a new device, log in, and find out I no longer count as owning them. What is the point of using a log in and having an account with Playdek if it doesn’t recognize the money already spent?

Online needs to have more than 60 points available. I have been enjoying playing this game with a friend since we can't actually get together, but the game is in my opinion much better when you are able to go for longer than 60 points. This does not work seem to be an option, though, for online play. By the time we acquire the fun high-value cards, the game ends, so we don't have time really to actually use them. If we could change to a 90+ point game, I would be happy.

Can’t Increase Honor Pool Size. I’ve been enjoying the game a fair bit, and really enjoy how streamlined it is to play compared to the physical version. However! One thing I find really frustrating is that I can’t increase the size of the Honor Pool. I find that far too often, the match ends just as things are starting to get good (powerful cards are in play, decks have finally banished-out their cruft, etc.) because there’s no honor left. This can be even more of a bummer in the expansions that involve additional resources that take time to accumulate. Would love to see this feature in a future update!

Fun strategic card game. This game has a lot of in-depth strategy that may not be apparent at the beginning. I recommend reading a strategy guide as it will help you win and make the game more interesting. Most card games let you P2W by letting you boost your card levels. There are no “card levels” in this game. It’s not a P2W game and owning the expansions is not mandatory. I would play without buying the expansions until you have mastered the game.

Still fun after all this time!. Different than MTG or Hearthstone. I downloaded this when it first came out. Then late teens it started becoming glitchy,so I dropped it for a bit.. just recently decided to put it back on my newer iPad. (Game runs smoothly now!)This game does not get old, nor run out of variations of decks and such. Fun mechanics, games go fairly quick. The AI by no means is easy to defeat! Very engaging. The expansion packs are also a nice touch. 😁

Works great for single player. I’ve never played this for multiplayer. However, in single player it is enjoyable and challenging. I play it frequently. I own all the expansions and while some are superior to others, they all offer a fair amount of variety to keep it interesting. Some items for improvement: There’s a monster in the Dreamscape expansion costing 5 that is supposed to eliminate half of opponents’ constructs upon defeat. Occasionally this effect does not happen, I think the first time. It would be great if they could fix that. It would be good if, upon game completion, if you could go back to look at the board, what constructs were out, etc. Sometimes an enemy will finish the last turn with a surprise move and you just want to confirm what happened. Some other games (7 Wonders, Ticket to Ride) allow for this.

Great game, this app version is broken. I’ve been playing this game for years. It had its flaws here and there, but those were few and far between. Overall it was fast, efficient, and really fun. This version has improved graphics dramatically, but at a major expense to efficiency and speed. I’ve played it for 10 minutes and it’s already crashed three times. Computer opponent thinking times drag on for what seems forever. I’m really hoping some improvements are planned for the very near future. The game is almost unplayable now.

Love this game but the app is glitchy. I love Ascension. I’ve been playing the board game for years and was excited to find there was an app, but the app sometimes randomly closes in the middle of a game. And it’s not just once - if a game closes unexpectedly, no matter how many times I restart the app or reopen the game, it will always quit in the exact same spot it did before. This used to only be occasional, but it has gotten worse over time. The last four games in a row I’ve played have ended this way. I’ve been unable to finish any of them, which is very frustrating. I hope the developers keep improving the app, because it’s such a great game.

Loving the game. The game is perfect other than I think there should be some way to earn at least two or three expansions using in game currency or something that you earn from online games. Maybe winning online games gives you some in game coin, and enough of that can be used to get an expansion. Maybe you change which expansion is available for in game purchase each month. Other than that really loving the game.

Always come back. I downloaded Ascension on day 1. It’s the only game that has been on every phone I’ve owned since. I play it often, and always change it up a little every play through. It’s one of the few games I’ve encountered that I can just pick up and play for 10 minutes, or lounge and play for hours without growing bored. Keep it up and I look forward to the next expansion!

Recent Update fixed some long time bugs... introduced new ones. Pros to current release and interface overhaul: 1. I no longer have difficulty accessing my online games via cell data. This had been a persistent problem for over a year, regardless of my settings. This is great, as I can now play from anywhere. 2. I like having a visual cue for how much longer I need to wait for the AI to take their turn when I’m playing vs. AI players. Cons: 1. The drag points seem to be very small now. I’m constantly having the problem of ‘I didn’t quite drag it far enough’ and the animation for the card to go back where it came from is snail paced regardless of my game speed settings. 2. One of my online games is now stuck and unable to be played because I defeated a monster that requires constructs to be destroyed, but it wants me to destroy a construct and also won’t let me destroy a construct. I never encountered errors this game breaking in online play prior to this update.

What happened? Very concerned.. I’ve bought every pack. Every pack, every promo, everything that can be purchased in game without double buying. I’m starting with that for a reason, and that reason is “I love this game and have for years.” I want to express my dedication and joy to and with this game. Every penny spent was well worth it. But suddenly with this new update (1.14.1), Ascension is no longer the game I’ve loved. What happened? Just read the FAQ and noted the change to Unity and that you are actively trying to fix things, good stuff, but still... it’s been months since War of Shadows, why not just keep things as they were while doing more QA testing? I’d rather have kept waiting :/ For anyone not sure if they should get this game, you should! Absolutely get it and play the heck out of it like I do, just make sure to rollback until they get Unity under control :P

Love this game. Absolutely love Ascension. One of my all time favorite deck building games. To me, it’s second to Resident Evil Deck Building game, and that’s it. Now; I will say, I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5 just because the sole fact that you can’t increase the star count for a PvP match beyond the limit now. I can play a 240 star match against a computer, but only a 120 against friends. Change that PLEASE. Me and my buddies love playing the game and would absolutely love longer games.

My favorite iPad game but a buggy mess. I play this game nearly daily, and have bought most of the expansions. Unfortunately, it crashes every 3-4 games. I play against a single ai with multiple expansions and part way through some games it will get to a state that forces an exit. When in re-open the game, the previous session is available but attempting to play it crashes immediately. I then have to delete the session and start over. This game also looks terrible on iPhone 11. No attempt has been made to update the art for the screen.

Fun game- good to kill time!. Been playing for over a year and still not bored. It's a fun game to play, especially if you know someone else that plays. You *can* keep track of your records by going to your profile, which has a record of your win-loss ratio. I'd give it 5 stars if they would update the app so that when searching for a game you can apply filters for decks you want to play. No point in searching through a bunch of active games that I can't play because I haven't purchased the decks yet! Or if I just feel like playing a specific set

Really Screwed It Up. This was one of my favorite games for my phone. I bought almost all the content for it, and was super excited to see the update added another pack. Then I saw the rest of the update. And what was once a streamlined and snappy game has turned into a slog. Having a separate loading screen for each turn? Cards no longer smoothly draggable? Too many shiny things and not enough actual useful UI. It took me three minutes to hate the update. Honestly, if I hadn't already gotten my money's worth out of the expansions, I'd ask for it back. It's that bad. Please, fix this. I love this game, don't ruin it.

Great game with two flaws.. Hands down awesome way to try out the card game boxes and learn them before buying. Also, fun. Two issues lose a star each. One, sometimes the AI takes too long to make its move or the animation goes slowly. Second, sometimes when a card says you “may” discard a card, it makes you. It also has some slightly unclear things, like moving treasure from under one card to the next is not clear and if you do something wrong it could hurt your game.

Used to be amazing. This newest update has ruined this app for me. Its too much. The new ui and graphic scheme looks amazing but the functionality has caused all my games to take twice as long. All of my actions take multiple attempts because dragging a dropping is not a sensitive as it used to be and if its not just right then it doesn't register. The game before looked like the board game, that i also own. This new version detracts from my experience because of the new graphics as well. A simple AI update was all that was needed but they went too far with the update. Severely disappointed.

Great game, buggy app. Ascension is a game that I have sunk hours and hours into, but the latest version will eat through your battery life in a very short amount of time. On top of that, several game-breaking bugs have been introduced, with some being attributed to the Promo Pack 6, and others are seemingly random, which will cause the app to crash and continue to crash if you attempt to re-open the last game, forcing you to delete the game. This has been very frustrating and I hope it is resolved soon.

Slow slow slow. Latest update that came out a couple days ago has made the game unbearable. It’s slow; I’m talking about the gameplay is much slower now, not the my phone is slow kinda problem. I’ve the setting to fastest settings too. And now you have to be extra precise when dragging and dropping a card or else it slooooowly travels back to where you started dragging it from. Also when bringing up the deck or discard or banished cards it’s slow. Sigh.. I have played this game A LOT for a few years now, online and offline. I have barely touched it since the update. Please update again or revert to before. Thanks.

Interface is truly awful. The game’s current interface is truly awful. There are all kinds of unskippable animations (cards being dealt, deck drawers opening and closing, cards returning to position if improperly discarded) that detract from what is otherwise a very enjoyable game. Also there are no shortcuts for extremely common actions like discarding, and the default actions are very picky and prone to failure, Requiring you to do the same thing over and over. The interface is so bad, in fact, that it completely undermines the games replay value and leaves you with an ugly frustrating mess. You are better off looking elsewhere.

Still the best mobile game. Been playing this since it first came out in 2011. I never seem to get sick of it. No awful free to play grinding garbage mechanics here, you just buy some cards and you get ALL the cards and that’s it. No silly requirements, no forced in-game currency, just a good card game that you can play as much as you want. Great game with great mechanics and an easy to use interface. I will keep buying the yearly expansions until they stop making them someday and I’ll probably still play it even then.
