Angi: Find Local Home Services Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Think this business is a Scam from the get go!. The booking people are so anxious to get your money and a booking they will say anything even if it is a requested service out of scope of the business. Also any business/ person can get your name and pretend they are a “Pro” as no one is properly background checked and can even be unlicensed and a felon. Customers are promised a “happiness guarantee “ but no one really knows what that means and if you try to remedy a poor service, no shows, or damages, It will take you 20-50 phone calls, and months, and still get a dozen answers or be directed to at least 15 phone numbers. For many the employees, English is not their first language which adds to the confusion and the lack of customer service. The company prefers all business be done by email which makes the complaint process even more difficult and too many people with little training are involved. I am not sure what benefit this company has to offer, since they really have no service to offer. Better just to search out a possible candidate for your job yourself, as it will be much less hassle. Too many negative reviews, and wish I had seen them earlier.

Utah Flooring and design. I have had them do work for me and they did a horrible job and very slow. I started this job with them in October 2022 and it is now late March 2023. My husband and I have been living in our master bedroom and bathroom for all this time. They were to put in flooring through the living room, kitchen, dining, and large family room. They promised it would be done by Thanksgiving then there were excuses. Then they promised it would be done by Christmas for family parties etc. More stupid reasons that it didn’t get done. They sent some people one day to finish it. These young men didn’t know what they were doing and didn’t level the floor. When we got back from errands and saw they had “finished” the project we were upset. They had laid flooring over heat vents. The floor was rough and bumpy and some large hills in their leveling. We finally got them to come check it out and they agreed with us that they would come fix it. After they had torn up a lot of the flooring they told us we had the cost of the new flooring etc. This was their error. Not ours. Why did we have to pay for any of their mistakes. It has been a horrid dealing with Utah Flooring and Design. Our furniture is still being stored. Just warning anyone looking at any place to do any flooring for you to really check over ALL reviews to decide on the correct company. I wish we had. I have read many reviews now and I would have realized NOT THEM!!!!!!

Not trustworthy!. I had TWO so call companies call me for carpet cleaning. The first one said he would be calling me back and never did, even when I called them again and left a message that I was waiting for the time and date they would be available. The SECOND call the individual told me he would be there the following day and gave me a time. I informed him it would work out great as I was having company the following day and would be showing my home to sale. That individual texted me the approx an half an hour before he was to arrive and said he could not make it because my home was too far away. We had discussed my address and city in our initial conversation and he said he would be at my home, no problem. I was shocked that he would just not show up and not even call me the day of our conversation to say he would not make it, I could have called someone else. After going back and forth explaining my dilemma, he said he would get a team out to my house. It was 5:00 pm and NO ONE SHOWED UP!!! I am a grandma in my late 60’s and was up until 2:00 am cleaning my own carpet for my showing later that day!!! This type of service is inexcusable from any business. I was under the impression Angi would screen their business to provide good service. I think I would do better in screening!!! Not recommending Angi, OR ANY COMPANY ASSOCIATED WITH ANGI.

Great App, but they will annoy you!. The Angi’s app is great for finding reviewed and vetted trades people. You can find almost all the pros you’re looking for. They even offer an instant quote option for many projects, if you let Angi choose your service provider. Even if you don’t go with this option, I find it helpful to click through the questions so I can get a ballpark of what the service I need may cost. These are all great things. The annoying thing is that Angi will have their customer service reps calling you multiple times, usually at 8am, about your project. They ask questions like do you need help? Did you hire one of our pros? Can I send you more pro options? On the surface this sounds like great service, but all these things can be addressed in the app, on demand, and at your discretion. Also, if I have a blessed morning when I get to sleep-in, the last thing I want is Angi’s waking me up!

Mercer Island Floor Covering. We had a water pipe leak on Christmas Eve Day. It was in our laundry room and flowed into our family room. After having the plumbing end of things done and having dried out our carpet we weee in search of someone to reattach our carpet. We went in Angie’s List and submitted our need to have someone come and do the job. Within a couple of hours Tobias from Mercer Island Floor Coverings called. After chatting with him we were so happy that he would be able to come out within 2 days. Tobias is such a pleasant and knowledgeable man. He has been in the business for 30 years and did a beautiful job of adding new tack strips, fastening the carpet pad and carpet down. You would never know that the carpet has been pulled so it could dry. We were very pleased with his work and we gladly recommend him and this business if you are looking for a great carpet person.

Booking failed and customer service was inadequate. I booked a housekeeper. Two hours before my appointment I got a message telling me my cleaning was rescheduled for 4 days later. I’m not mad that they cancelled, stuff happens. I get it. I’m irritated that nobody called to reschedule the service at a time that worked for me. They just sent me an email saying people were going to show up at my home, at a time I had no choice in. I cancelled the booking. Within a minute of receiving the verification the booking was cancelled, I received a text saying that a professional was on their way to my residence. I called to verify wether the booking was cancelled or if someone was coming to my home after all, I just got transferred to another department that put me on hold for ten minutes. I got tired of waiting on the phone so, just hung up. Nobody ended up showing so, I don’t understand why the sent a message saying someone was on their way. Now, I’m stuck trying to find a new service provider who will come on short notice and not having luck. Altogether, this is a sloppy, inefficient booking system.

Wasted time. Moved to the country and figured going through angis list would help me find a contractor quickly since I am brand new to the area. Scheduled my appointment through the app then a rep from angis list called to confirm and asked if I had been contacted by contractor, which I hadn’t yet. Received a call the following day from the company they were subbing my business to. Was informed that even though angis list confirmed an appt didn’t mean they had opening for that time frame. On top they also wanted me to pay a $75 charge just to LOOK at all the work we wanted done. Needless to say, I went to the closest gas station here in the country where I’m an hour from any town and asked them for a reference for electrician. Got a response same day and they were there the next day (with no fee to come and bid) and completed running electricity to all of my sheds, ran a couple posts for travel trailers, and set up hookups for washer and dryer. If you want something done better to ask locally than go through an app like this where you’re just a number waiting in line.

CONVEY DETAILS TO YOUR CONTRACTORS. Lately I’ve had several projects going simultaneously. I was VERY thorough and detailed about each project only to find that the contractors that I contacted or who contacted me through Angie’s List had little or in most cases, no information about the project at hand. There were several instances where they didn’t even specialize in the line of work I was seeking. For example, I called one company whose specialty was Tree Service and I was contacting them about replacement siding. More recently, just last week, a contractor called me to say that he understood I was in need of a new roof and the project I was needing help with was for concrete work. He was under the impression that the work was to be done on a house I sold several years ago even though I was very clear to indicate my current address when conveying the information online to Angie’s List in the details about the project. I gave a three star rating out of five becauseI have been impressed in the past with the caliber of the contractors who have done work for me and the quality of the work performed. So Angie’s List, either start conveying all of the details that a customer provides you with to your contractors, or if you choose not to convey it, then don’t ask customers for it in the first place and have them simply indicate a general project and the customer can convey the details to the contractor when they speak with them.

Proceed at your own risk. I get so furious when I see commercials for HomeAdvisor on TV bc I lost $1,600 paying some no name contractor that wasn’t even registered to the state of Ohio to pour a simple concrete shed pad for my house back in 2017. They apparently have money to spend on increasing the suckers in America to use their platform but have no program to help the homeowners that run into issues with the contractors. It’s a one way road folks. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. When I left a review about my first time experience with this app on a different website, they said the only thing they can do is deactivate their account (after the damage has been done). Nobody reads their terms and conditions they just skip thru it, the homeowners are taking a massive gamble everytime they use this app. Do you want to lose $1,600 with a contractor that you met on here that constantly gave you excuses on why he didn’t show up over the course of a 3 month period? I sure didn’t. They simply changed their number and ghosted me. I have records to back up my claim. It just falls onto dead hands when I call customer service. AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!!

Two different pros, both sub-par. First guy was just ok, complained too much, smoked and threw cigarette butts in my driveway. Couldn’t finish the job same day, so had to come out a second day to hustled me for more cash on the side to finish. Second “pro” had to replace 1 ceiling fan and couldn’t do it in two hours. First he shows up late, doesn’t wear a mask when I ASKED him to do so while in the house. Then he wears booties that we gave him because he doesn’t have his own. He walked outside while wearing them and came back inside. Takes his leisurely time doing I don’t know what with all his crap spread out in my living room before asking to charge for more time. Let me repeat, 1 ceiling fan. The only reason I didn’t do it myself is because I wasn’t tall enough and don’t have a ladder tall enough. Angi is a joke. I try to get support for thes ridiculous issues and come to find out it was subcontracted to another company called Handy. So now I can’t just simply provide feedback at my dissatisfaction with these “professionals” to hopefully have them up their handy man caliber.

Got charged but contractor never showed up. I booked an appointment for snow shoveling services at 8am after a night of heavy snowfall. I needed my driveway and sidewalks shoveled. I am over 70 and have a hard time shoveling on my own. I got a several confirmation emails stating that my appointment was confirmed. No one showed up at 8am, so I thought that they were just running late. I waited until the early afternoon to call them to see what the story was. The customer service rep tells me that based on their GPS, a contractor came out and stayed at my house for 30 mins and that the job had been done. When I complained that the job clearly had not been done, and that I could send them photos to prove that there is snow on my driveway, they offered to send another contractor out in 48 hours (which was their next available appointment). I can’t wait 48 hours because I have to get my car out to go to work, so I asked them to just cancel my appointment, at which point, I was informed that the contractor had already been paid and that I would only get 50% of my money back. Per their customer service rep, no exceptions could be made. So now I’m out 50% of the cost of shoveling my driveway and I will have to find someone else to shovel it. PLEASE DO NOT USE HOMEADVISOR.

Awful. Batting 1 good out of 7 and toms of stuff now to be fixed of the 6. Let’s see it Angi remotely does what with their guarantees. Hard to mess up a cleaning job. But one one could not even get out my gate. Trash company in. Boxes just thrown. Hired somebody else to fix. Fire hazard no exit from back yard. Then they show up Monday and he made it so much worse. Trash pick up was Friday. Of course missed. He comes Monday takes cans to street. My trash company does that so now they are out all week. Then took out cardboard, just tossed. Big pieces. Then 2 large item for pick up. Told him 3 times no way that recycling is going like that. Other lady had nicely folded in to cans and the other into boxes. He said he would call take care of it. 3 weeks mess in from of the house. Just paid 80 dollars to have hauled to dump. Granted Palm Springs Trash is beyond awful. Did get them to take some recycling. But two weeks no trash or recycling , they should have done more. Turns out he never called them. Repeatedly told me he had. Me disabled so stupid saw after paid. Angie has still not done anything about the yard person early March.

Almost useless now. I’ve been using this app for about 2 years when it was home advisor. I got numerous pool repairs and a few large renovations completed with this app and never had an issue. Recently I noticed it changed to Angi and thought maybe I was getting the best of both worlds, having used Angie’s list before. I started a project and was told I had to contact support because of technical difficulties in my area. I contact support assuming I’d be like other times and was greeted with the worst customer service experience I’ve had. The woman on the phone read from a script verbatim, didn’t answer any questions because they were off script, and then after a good 10 minutes of trying to explain WHY I was calling she placed me on hold for 5 minutes then returned to tell me she couldn’t help me because of technical difficulties? She didn’t even know why I called? Just use a robot next time if that’s your aim. I’ve relayed this information to my social circles, we’re moving on. Good luck out there and I’d recommend making your own call list of trusted contractors, this apps heading down hill fast.

Left my “repair” worse than when I started.. I contracted for two Roman shades to be repaired. The mechanism you pull on to raise them no longer functioned. Turns out one on them wasn’t broken. Just hard to use. On the second one, the chains that raise and lower the shade were stuck with the shade about halfway down. In the past, this needed to be brought in to a workshop but the guy said he didn’t need to. He spent about 45 minutes maybe more on the site. When he left he told me not to use it for at least 24 hours , and two days would be even better, as the glue had to dry. I gave it three days. As I lowered the chain I heard a snap and the left side of the shade fell down as far as it could. The right side did not, so now the shade was at an angle, but very low so it blocks out the daylight. I tried to raise it but with the snapped chain nothing happened. I called the company and was told they would give me $100 towards the next repair. But having just spent $150 for a worse situation than before my “repair “ I won’t accept. I feel that since it didn’t even a minute, they should send someone better to try again, or if they don’t have anyone who can actually fix it, then at least refund my money.

Terrible paid service.. I have the membership and I will let you know though it does allow for a great discount it’s very hard to find any handyman that will actually show up for the project. I’ve had multiple individuals try to contact me off the app by asking for my phone number stating that they can’t get in contact with me through Angi yet they’re texting me through the. The app. The way that the hustling scheme goes is once they get you off the app and get your phone number they can request more money. The split between Angi and the actual contractor is a lot less than most contractors are willing to work for so they take your lead and try to have you cancel through Angi however, you don’t get a booking guarantee and if the work is subpar then there’s no Accountability. Additionally when making a request and or complaining the reps on the other line act as if they don’t know what’s going on I believe most are from out of the country and although they try to provide good customer service they ask you questions repetitively. I’m not sure if I’ll stay on the platform much longer

Awful. On many occasions, I have TRIED to find 1) someone for a project or service and 2) someone qualified. I’ll give 3 examples where it was anywhere from useless to a waste of time to hiring someone who had “verified” reviews but was one of the WORST “home pros” I hired in all of the people I have contracted to do work on my house in the past 2 years. 1) I wanted to get pro referrals for a bathroom remodel. I got one referral that was decent. All of the rest “didn’t have time”, and one came over smelling like a distillery to look at the job for an estimate. It took him 3 weeks to get back to me. Needless to say, I didn’t hire any of these people. Completely useless and a waste of time. 2) I had personal property to get appraised and, even though I was very specific with the search, they sent me real estate appraisers. There’s no way to even give them feedback that they need to improve their searches! —that was the waste of time. 3) here’s the biggie- I hired “25 painters” to paint my house 2 years ago using HomeAdvisor. They say they have verified reviews. BE CAREFUL. Look at other sites for reviews! This group took MONTHS to paint my house. They sent people that were clearly not painters and I had to continually keep lists of what they had missed. I will NEVER rely on HomeAdvisor for any work on my house again!

Confirming appointments without my approval. It confirmed an appointment even though I never finished setting up the project request. All I wanted was a quote, which it never gave me either before repair people starting calling me every 5 minutes and then text me late at night saying I had an appointment confirmed that I never agreed to. Still never even gave me a quote. So the app: -Steals your contact info so I’ll get calls forever. -Doesn’t give you quotes when asked. -Schedules appointments without your consent. -Schedules appointments without even a quote! I’m getting a random person texting me late saying they’re coming this Friday at 8:00am to do the repair I NEVER agreed to, and I still don’t even know how much the guy would charge! If a guy rings my doorbell at 8:00am Friday and tries to charge me for a repair appointment I never agreed to I’m going to LOSE MY MIND. All this and I STILL don’t even have an actual account. It never finished setting up or made me verify it before it did all this. This app is trash, won’t be using again. **UPDATE The repairman told me he was able to cancel the appointment set by Angi’s list. BUT ANGIES LIST CHARGED HIM. THE APP CHARGED HIM $ FOR THEIR OWN MISTAKE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE REPAIRMAN SHOULDN'T BE CHARGED FOR YOUR APPS MISTAKE. Unforgivable.**

So Far Great Experiences - Great Contractor’s. I found HA when we started a couple of projects on my Dads house. Someone outside of HA predicted an outrageous amount and a crazy way to do a job. I said no way and began looking for an electrician who I knew would have a better way. I found HA. Long story short got a call for one and he came out, quoted. Got another call and told the first guy what was going on and that we chose someone and he said great. He asked the price and said that was good and if I needed him to check he would. Both were great. Next project Hot water Heater fiasco. Who knew. So I once again reached out to HA. Got a call, well a few and have someone lined up, once I sift through the craziness. So far I have seen professional, licensed, honest and quality contractors. This will be my home for any and all future projects that they can cover. I downloaded the app to make it that much easier. OMG I have been sleeping on HA.

Horrible. Many people in the reviews complain about the people they hire being inconsistent or unreliable. This may be true, although this gateway company makes it impossible for good, reliable businesses to get a start up. They get you on board with empty promises and then get all your money without a blink. They had us create a cap for the amount of leads so that we could budget and then continued sending leads that we would not use — hiking our bill up far beyond what we have the funds to pay for. When we called to get our bill down to the cap that THEY had us create, they refused to give us our money back for leads that we would not use and instead paused the account to stop more leads from coming in. That was better than nothing, so we went with it. Still frustrated. Then, maybe a week later, they took $266 out of our account without permission. We called to see what was up and they said they unpaused our account early but somehow still can’t give us our money back. Admitting fault without making it right is NOT a way to do business. We will never use home advisor again and I strongly recommend staying away before getting ripped off as well.

Absolutely not worth it.. I downloaded the app and have tried to use it a couple different times. I requested estimates from different electricians in order to have undercabinet lighting placed in my house. The first two contractors that I selected either never received any type of information from Angi’s list or they just didn’t respond. Angi’s list, of course, called to try and get me to use their Fixed Price option. I was not interested in that and stated that I wanted to meet with a contractor that was local. They called me back and set up an appointment with a five star rated contractor in Nashville. I was given an appointment time between the hours of 10 and 12 PM. I received an email and a text to which I was to respond and confirm that I was still available. I did to both. No one showed the day of the appointment and when I messaged the contractor in the app, he probably called my phone, called me by the wrong name, and said that the app had been messing up and he had no information about my appointment whatsoever. He then wanted to know if I wanted to talk a little bit about what I wanted to have done. I said no thank you and that I would find a different contractor. Absolutely ridiculous.

Much more problems than help!. Within seconds of entering my info in this app the phone started ringing with high pressure sales people on the other end. We are looking to replace 13 windows and we were matched with Sears who is $2k higher than any estimate I’ve gotten on my own, and a second company. The second company, ImproveIt, has horrible ratings everywhere BUT on this app. The high pressure crap started from second 1 on the phone, both myself and my husband must be present...I explained 4 different times that this was not possible and finally just left it at “whatever.” They called again today to confirm an appointment for tomorrow and advised me it is their company policy that my husband must be here too?? I finally told them that I want nothing to do with their company. I’ve had much better luck googling window providers and picking them randomly than the info from this app. They are providing the same people that are pushing too good to be true sales on TV and radio plus they confirmed in their follow up phone call that they don’t stand behind the companies they are referring. They get a referral fee for selling my info and then are done.

Zero Help. I tried to use Angi to get a project done. I was sent to a couple departments (I had called them because the project has multiple parts and getting it done is kinda tricky), and finally to the department that said they could help me. While on the phone, the person I spoke with Matt, asked if I wanted to sign up for their emails and texts/phone calls to help with further projects. I said no. He said he understood because he doesn’t like spam either. Looks like he didn’t listen. I keep getting emails, texts, and phone calls from this company and I’m so sick of it. I’ve opted out, unsubscribed, and reported it as spam to stop, and they still get through. I’m so annoyed. With my project, they connected me with a local company who doesn’t do what I need done, and has told Angi that they don’t. They were really nice about it, but like me, they’re frustrated that Angi doesn’t listen. They apologized to me, but I didn’t feel there was a need since they just don’t do these types of projects. Go somewhere else for help as this company doesn’t care and does whatever they want. I wish I never contacted them.

Poor yard work!!. I hired Angi to do some raking of leaves for me. The man who showed up at my house was totally unprepared. He had no rakes and he had no bags. After being here approximately an hour he left to get a blower which took about an hour. When he returned he was here for about another hour raking and blowing. He said he was finished. I told him that there were more leaves and he told me that those didn’t have to come up. I’ve had work done by Angi before and they did an excellent job. This time I wasn’t so lucky. For the price they charge, I deserved so much more than I got. My yard was left half finished and I didn’t get a credit or even a reduction in price. I have to say this will be the last time using Angi. I just can’t afford to throw money away like that!! Angi needs to hire people who are prepared to work(with their own tools) and to also complete the job. I paid $442 for 3 hours(really 2 because he left for an hour to go get a blower. I am deeply disappointed and had to call someone else to come complete the job Bonnie Monteiro Ormond Beach, Fl I ended up hiring someone else to complete the job. I will no longer use your services for anything in the future.

Warning: They keep your info even if you end up not using service. This whole angi experience has ended up being much more of a liability than anything else for me. They take your info and never let go. Even when the delete (no they do not delete your info), or rather deactivate your account. Your physical address and phone number and email address are now permanently stored in their database. Do not expect any type of promise to delete after a certain time frame. They are not letting go. On top of that, if you dare create a new “job” even if all you want is a quote, get ready for daily calls and emails. And when you do not reach out to any local businesses for the job your info will be sent to them and they may decide to contact you. So do not follow through just to find out how much a project costs. You will initiate angi calls, angi emails, and service provider emails. If you do not want a service provider and just want the price of the project, hold off until you actually do. If you keep old projects on your account you will continue to get calls from angi. This has all been an unpleasant experience for me. Most of all because now they have my info and will never let it go. So if they sell, their company value will be higher because of the large amount of info they have on people who created account. This is a horrible horrible trap.

Charged me $25 for cancellation. I needed my door repaired. I checked the app but there was no one in my area. Got several calls from “Angi”, finally answered, couldn’t understand the person as English was obviously their second language. Anyway, the guy said he would set me up with someone. Got connected, I sent pictures to the guy assigned to my job and an explanation. I thought “there I did everything I should, let’s see how this goes”. I wait until the night before and the contractor hasn’t called me yet so I reach out. The guy answers “hello”, I say “hello (his name) this is Dave, you’re going to do some work for me tomorrow”. Anyway, he’s aware but completely unprepared and asks if I have the door. In the app, I selected that I needed the contractor to supply all the materials so Angi increased the price from $300-$369 or something like that. So, I don’t have a door, he doesn’t have a door, no one has the door to replace my broken door. I say ok cool can you maybe just come do an estimate tomorrow? He says sure, but Angi may charge me the full amount $369 for his visit. I say ok well let me cancel this and I’ll rehire you once I get the materials. I go to cancel and since it was within 24 hours, Angi charged me $25. Honestly, I don’t even want to try to explain this to anyone at Angi, I know based off of experience that it would just be a pain to explain. Angi can keep my $25, I’m deleting the app!

No. Don’t use this service.. No. Don’t use this service. They are making money selling your info. That’s essentially all they do. Good contractors don’t need their service. And you pay a premium if you use it. Look at the reviews; every time a contractor is referred to you, they pay a fee. Angi collects $60 -$200+ every time you put in a request for a service, whether you actually follow through or not. Even if you follow through, contractors only have a 25% chance of actually getting your business, because you will be referred to four different contractors who will pay a fee for the referral. Do the math. How many inquiries translate into actual projects? How much time and money do you think contractors have to recover in order to get just one job? That cost is being passed on to you. —— Polite meaningless response; I spoke with one of their reps and that was the source of identitying tge problems. He wasn’t willing or able to be straight. Don’t use them. They have a big marketing budget because that’s all they really do; selling your info and someone else’s service. Even the cost estimates they share are meaningless.

In theory this is a GREAT idea. In theory this app is amazing however they ask if you want to have professionals contact you or would you like to get a list of professionals. Naturally I click to give me the list however they gave my phone number out. I have been bombarded with phone calls nonstop to the point where I had to log into the app and switch my phone number and put and I only want to be emailed. Mind you I had put in individual jobs and I’m having a house renovated so I had asked for over eight different kinds of professionals intern those eight types of professionals yielded between five and 10 matches so do the math on how many people were contacting me. I then found out that referrals are paid for by the professionals and that me not putting my phone number and was wasting their money since they were getting leads that had no end in sight that they had to pay for. I am going to be deleting this app and going back to the old fashion Google search. It’s really a shame because like I said in the beginning in theory this app and this idea is very smart but the execution is not.

SOOO DISAPPOINTED—RUN AWAY!. Angie’s List used to be a source for honest, trustworthy reviews of local tradespeople but NO MORE. Their new business model is to farm out your data to their own providers then spam you with emails and phone calls wondering why you’re not following through. I got an email stating that I had a response, but in order to see it I had to download the app (didn’t/don’t want the app but it was the only option) and then when I caved and got it, there’s no message because I don’t have an account. An Angi rep called me from a call center to “quote a price” for a job she’d never seen and could barely understand. She tried to upsell me from a handyman to a GC because I’d get “better service” (my own experience proves that’s no guarantee) then quoted me $1,400 for a job that will realistically cost me $300-$400 because all she could do was plug in her best guesses into some kind of spreadsheet. She also assumed I already had all the materials—I don’t even know what’s needed and that’s why I’m hiring someone!! When we need the premium features, my husband logs in with his membership but after today we’re canceling it. Angi has a completely different vision and marketing plan than Angie’s List and it feels like a giant scam. I’m so sad because I loved the old way but this is terrible. Now that I’ve left my review, I’m deleting the app as well.

BEWARE of unwanted solicitation and hassle to close your account. I signed up for HomeAdvisor and used the app to look up some providers for lawn maintenance. I specifically said that all I was doing was planning and budgeting, and that I was not looking to be contacted yet. Within 24 hours of doing this, I received 5 phone calls from a provider regarding the service, and then the provider SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE and knocked on the door. When I didn’t answer (I am 9 months pregnant and very uncomfortable), he knocked again every few minutes until I finally opened the door in my pajamas and said it wasn’t a good time. I get that this man is trying to run a small business and support his family, but by signing up for this app and simply looking up providers, I did not expect to be harassed. I obviously should have read the terms and conditions more closely. Secondly, there is no straightforward way to close your account. I had to LiveChat with a customer service rep to request my account be closed... he said that the relevant team would be alerted and “initiate” the closing of my account. What the heck? Just close my account. I don’t want to be harassed any longer.

Extremely disappointed!!!. I used the app to set up services. It asked me to describe what I needed. I gave a detailed answer and submitted. The contractor who accepted the work called and asked me what I was looking for because nothing was submitted to him as to what I needed. I went over it with him he asked me to change to next day. I did. But the app put it back out for someone else to take and the initial contractor could not take the job back. The second guy showed up at my door with again no clue as to what I needed. What tools he would need and it was clear he was not prepared to do the work I wasted two days because of this app. I still need the work done. I called and had them refund my money. I’m very upset and disappointed. On top of that I made the mistake of checking other parts of the app out. I had clicked something about cabinet refacing but NEVER hit submit because I changed my mind. The last two days I’ve been getting a ton of phone calls from random numbers. Some people calling multiple times all wanting to give me a quote on cabinets. DO NOT use this app!

Found a Great Contractor on Angi’s. Discovered Saeed G./Atoz Home Finishing on Angi’s. I enjoyed working with Saeed on a project for our Newport Beach condo. I can attest that his work is exceptional. Saeed has exceptional attention to detail, which is evident in his work. He could precisely patch, paint, and install flooring and plumbing, ensuring everything was in place and functioning perfectly. He is a skilled craftsman who takes pride in his work, which shows in the end product. Moreover, Saeed could complete the project within the given time and budget. His professionalism, punctuality, and reliability make him an ideal contractor. Thanks to the quality of his work, our condo is in better shape than when we bought it. We believe that we will be able to get top dollar for our rental property, all thanks to Saeed's exceptional work. I highly recommend Saeed G. for any project that requires a skilled and professional contractor. He will not disappoint and will exceed your expectations in every way possible.

The app is working nice but the people don’t. I was looking for book an AC service and some shady company called me.. we couldn’t go through with it because there was no reviews on Angie’s list. Then I was looking to book maid services. Again some shady people called me to give me a quote… but I have already paid for the services and made the appointment and the app was suppose to connect me with the people. The people called me offering their own prices which did not go through the app. Also I was suppose to receive 20% off with every cleaning since I was going it thorough the app.. I was thinking perfect it’ll be the tip for the ladies.. well needless to say I HIGHLY DO NOT recommend the app. They don’t do enough research on the recommended people/companies. And I get it everyone needs a chance and to start somewhere but if they start here on this list the they must be bad.. no experience or maybe just started.. which leads me to think the whole reputation of Angie’s list is a sham and it’s actually a bad one.. save yourself some money and just google the services in your area and read the reviews. It’s cheaper that way and true..

Use Thumbtack. Much better than Home Advisor.. I needed sod laid in my yard. I gave a full description of what they would be working with; sloping ground, rocky soil, shade, no grass at all currently. One guy came by. He was not fluent in English and I live smack in the middle of the U.S., but okay. He then emailed me and said it would be $2200, and asked if I would be getting the materials. I replied that I had no idea what all was needed. He only texted me that it would cost $2200. Which I thought was cheap. I asked if it needed a whole layer of top soil, tree trimming or removal etc. I also said I had no idea what I needed to buy, that’s why I wanted someone to come do it, and I had no vehicle to get all the materials. He just said agin that it would be $2200 and asked if I wanted him to do it. I just said “No”. I also asked for a quote to tear out my driveway and pour a new one. No one ever came. Home advisor called and asked how the bid went. I told them no one showed up. They asked me if I wanted them to send someone else. I told them, “No” and I have now deleted the app. My best advice is to use Thumbtack. I had a great experience there and don’t know why I bothered with Home Advisor.

Really??? People give them 5 stars?. I’ve used them three times now, hoping that each time might be different (which I know is the definition of insanity). I hired an A/C company that had a good sales guy, but a lousy install team. The second time was for a landscaper, no one called. The last time was for stucco work and there was only one contractor who called. I almost hired him because “Hey, Home Advisor knows what they’re doing right?”. Well after consulting two other contractors who were a bit higher priced, I found out that the way in which he was suggesting to repair the home would have caused more expensive problems than doing it right the first time. There were no other stucco contractors on their list. I am only 10 minutes away from a city of 100k+ people and they couldn’t find two other contractors for the area? Then there are the constant emails asking for reviews, suggesting other project ideas, etc. Plus if you’re not careful, you’ll answer the phone and have to get pulled into a 5 minute follow-up call and apology. Do what our parents and grandparents did for decades before the golden age of technology. Ask friends and neighbors, call out of a directory, get multiple bids, and go with your gut. Worst-case scenario, go to Yelp and get your ratings there. At least you won’t be hassled by constant follow-up.

Horrible Customer Experience. I used their single price service, where you say what you need, get a price, and schedule a time. Home Advisor finds the technician and sends them out. But they’re supposed to confirm ahead of time who is coming. They never told me who would show up, the app just said the technician’s name was “Homeadviser H.” 🙄 The phone number to contact them went to a recorded, “thanks for calling,” them hung up. When no one showed, I called the number that Home Advisor texted this morning to contact them, and after 15 minutes on hold the person who answered said she couldn’t help with their Single Price bookings. 🤦🏼‍♀️ After 5 more minutes on hold with the correct department, they asked for a bunch of personal information the previous CSR hadn’t needed and at about that time my service person arrived. My technician had no idea he’d been connected to the job through Home Adviser. Turns out he’s an awesome dude, employee owned business, etc. But Home Adviser wouldn’t know any of that, because he was hired through a completely different middleman company and Home Adviser never bothered to actually find out who they were sending to their customer’s home. So I’ll never be using their worthless services again, and instead I’ll be asking this super cool dude for recommendations of other employee-owned businesses.

Use this app if you want to be harassed and hounded by contractors non stop!. If you research a project, they want your info, which they will share however they want. This is pushed to contractors who will begin to hound you. HomeAdvisor gives out all your info and it is creepy!!!! It is nearly impossible to cancel a project to stop the hounds from chasing you! AND you can’t cancel your whole account! It’s like I am a prisoner! They listed 4 pros and after the first day, I counted 8 different pros who called me and left messages. 8! Why didn’t they tell me/reveal all 8 options! They try to hide their directory of pros, but then send your phone number, email, home address, etc. to businesses you never even saw matched!!!! I found a way to turn off email and phone number, but once those businesses have your info, they keep calling. Also, tucked away in the app, in the account option, is the option to view their pros without starting a project (aka alerting the hounds)! They called so many times, my iPhone automatically labeled them as Spam Risks. They have called, emailed, text messaged, left voicemails, etc. One guy even sounded rude and short tempered in his third voicemail! The appropriate thing as a pro is to call and leave a voicemail ONE TIME. Then if I want to call back, I will. I have black listed any pro who harasses me this way!

Terrible service - buyer beware. I have tried to use the app for two projects. The first project, none of the recommended “experts” ever bothered to contact me. The second time I setup an appointment using the apps pre-negotiated price and selecting from their schedule. They confirmed a 7:00 AM Friday morning appointment for the work. I took the morning off to be there. At 5:00 AM they sent me an email saying the appointment was canceled because they could not find a professional to meet my schedule. First of all, I selected a time and date from their available options when I set up the appointment. If those times aren’t good they should not offer them. Secondly to wait until 5:00AM the morning of to send out an email to cancel it totally unacceptable!!! I also received a text message 45 min prior to the appointment to say it was rescheduled for the next week. Again totally unacceptable! The kicker here to add insult to injury is that they already charged my Credit card for the service. I instantly requested reimbursement and was assured the charges were reversed and would show up in 3 to 4 days. At least they have that part of the process down well. It would appear they have lots of experience returning customers money!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS APP/SERVICE

Never again!. I used this app to bring in a repairman to fix my Refrigerator. He came in told me what the apparent problem was and left to come back another day with the part. A week later he came back and Pulled the refrigerator’s inlet valve out, but found out that he had ordered the wrong part or they sent him the wrong part. He left the back of the refrigerator open with all the hoses hanging and told me that he will be back with the new part. After a week he told me that the part is coming and he will be at my home around 6:00 PM to put everything back together. A few days went by and he didn’t show up. I sent him a text asking where he was, he told me tha he received the wrong part again and I should find someone else to come in and fix the refrigerator. Now, I’m left with a broken refrigerator and everything hanging in the back. He has also cut the tubes too short that I don’t know if we can put the new inlet valve in. I’m disgusted and very angry. My wife is going to contact the better bussiness bureau, but that won’t change anything, it will not fix my refrigerator. Will never use the HomeAdvisor app again!!!

App is worthless, horrible customer service. I had a change of plans, and needed to reschedule my first house cleaning appointment. I tried to do this every day for 3 days before the appointment. In the app it insisted I had no appointments scheduled. When I called tech service about this, the guy said my appointments weren’t showing up because I had not logged in correctly with my email address and password. I assured him I had and he said if I did it correctly the appointments would show up and I could reschedule from the app. I asked him to cancel the appointment for me this one time just to be on the safe side. What happened? You guessed it. My husband called me and reported someone sitting outside our house in their car at the scheduled time. The appointment was NOT CANCELED and that person made a trip for nothing. I felt bad for them. That was 3 months ago. I have sent Angi customer service and tech service many emails to cancel my Angi appointments, ALL OF THEM, and to remove my name from their files. Nothing changes, every month they set another housekeeping appointment that I am unable to cancel. This is like the HOTEL ANGI, you can check in but you can never check out!

Not sold on it.. I’ve had some suspect dealings. One person came out and gave me a reasonable price. Then we he started he came back and said it needs some additional work. This is after the deposit and states he can’t insure the other part without doing this part. I had one person show up almost two hours late and didn’t call to notify me he was going to be late. Angi has a policy they need to do better at informing customers about. I needed to have a section of drywall replaced. When he finally got there he asked me did I have the materials? No one comes out to your home and takes a look to tell you what your going to need. Somehow the customer is suppose to know what the workers will need. Getting a tv mounted is one thing but consumers are suppose to know what kind, size and quantities will be needed. Customers are suppose to know what kind of nails or whatever else they need to hang the drywall. They charged me for the job then when I complained they said the money is only for the labor we are suppose to provide the products needed. I was charged 400 to replace a section of drywall but instead al he did was mud the hole. I had to make a complaint to get refund. Angi doesn’t ask you any questions about the job or confirm it was done correctly. I had to sit on the phone about an hour to make a complaint and then wait a couple days for someone to email me. Then they reduced the charge to 200 but didn’t refund me the difference but gave me a credit.

Good and Bad. First the good. I was able to find an outstanding painter using this tool that I will be giving 5 stars to. I cannot say enough about Leonard Painting! Now the bad. There is no way to cancel projects on here so if you are just browsing, looking for an idea on price.... vendors will be given your number and will start to call you. I MIGHT be doing tile work in the future and was looking for the price span that the tool gives you. The next thing I knew, people were calling me and I had to take my phone number out of the tool. So only look up projects you absolutely plan on doing, unless you want to be contacted. Also, I found out that Home Advisor charges those contractors about $50 if their name shows up when searching for a project. So whether you call them or not, they have to pay. I thought that was crappy and a little pricey. Hopefully, these contractors are getting enough leads to cover the cost. I’m not sure that I will use the tool again once my painting is done.

HORRIBLE DO NOT USE ANGI. I was supposed to have my trampoline assembled by Angi today at 9 am but when I look online it says that they completed the job on the 25th. Which is impossible because I didn’t even have my trampoline delivered to me until yesterday the 28th…..I’ve been trying to get in contact to reschedule and now when I try to get a hold of the angi number that texted me, it says the number is out of service…. When I call the customer service phone number all they do is give me the run around. I called the customer service number yesterday and they said they would be coming today, but like I said when I went to confirm my booking for today it says that the job was already completed when it never was…This is my first and last time using Angi… they have have been absolutely horrible to me and no help at all. My 5 year old would love to play on her $600+ trampoline today but she can’t because all they do is give me the run around and have been no help. It’s not right to lie and say you completed a job when they never did. I didn’t pay $150 for nothing. This is horrible customer service. I even told the Angi person my trampoline hasn’t arrived yet on Saturday so I’m not sure why they put they completed the job when they never did. Now after getting the run around for days, they tell me that they will come Friday. I PRAY that they do so I can be DONE with Angi for good!

Contractor Fresh Start Remodels Eric Draa. I would like to make a review of a company that Angi sent my way for a redo of my front porch and stairs, building of a deck on the rear of my home, a pool deck, a large deck with assembly of a pergola over it, installing large retractable awning (which the contractor asked for me to get parts to beef up. Which he hasn’t installed and my house is in danger with high winds), installing of two (2) small retractable awnings. (which have loosen and now they have missing hardware), installing a Wind awning for the pergola (which has broken), finish an addition (there are several unfinished jobs (installing outlet plates, painting some , leaving the stairs in the loft Unsafe!), repairs to the wall and repairs needed, installing of some moldings), installing of swing (installed two (2) posts in ground without finishing the top beam and leaving concrete bag in the rain which isn’t usable now (I paid for all of the materials) and leaving electrical panel and unfinished electrical work which is Dangerous! I feel that Eric Draa does inferior, unsafe, incomplete work and he asked for payment before jobs were complete. He subbed work out and these employees stole some of my properties. I WOULD ENCOURAGE NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH FRESH START REMODELS. UNLESS YOU WANT INCOMPLETE AND INFERIOR WORK OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOUR PROPERTY “MISSING “!!!

I depend on Angi. I have come to trust and depend on Angi for many of my home projects. My fence was installed by Main Line Fence Company several years ago. I was very pleased with them. I hired a great handyperson (Belle’s) for some small projects around the house: faucets and sinks in kitchen and bath, countertop and backsplash, new handles and hinges on kitchen cabinets. Unfortunately she is no longer doing this work. I also hired Patriot Mobility to install handicap ramps at the front of my house. Again I was very pleased. They gave a prompt estimate, which was very reasonable. At the time I didn’t hire anyone because of Covid. When I was ready to hire and called them about the job, they honored the original bid, even though it was two years later. They submitted plans, drawings and insurance information for the township. The work was started on time, the workers were very nice, and the job was completed on time. The ramps are perfect. When I am looking for professionals for my home projects, I go to Angi first. I do read the reviews that others have left. I then contact two or three of the companies and ask for bids. Based on our interactions I hire the company I feel will do a good job.

Very disappointing.. The app initially seemed so good as someone called me on Sunday to help me schedule a project to replace my shower faucet the next day and the price seemed reasonable. On Monday morning, The pro was 2 hour late. And in the middle of disassembling my old shower faucet suddenly he stopped and packed up to leave. Confused I asked him why? He said the Angi App told he that the customer cancelled the project and he has to leave right away as he is not getting paid for his work. I told him I didn’t cancel and we tried calling customer service but apparently there is no one to answer questions once you have booked a project and the phone number always refer you to use the app. But the crazy thing is the pro just left because he has other jobs scheduled. and whatever the state my shower faucet was in he just left it there: With the tiles and the dry wall cut open. This is so unbelievable. Finally I was able to get a hold of someone and I told them to cancel my membership since this is useless and beyond frustrating to deal with. I truly hope they will refund my membership fee as they said they will do. I am still waiting on that email to confirm that’s the case.

Amateurs and Rip-off!. We had an emergency plumbing issue on a Saturday. The earliest Angi could dispatch was Monday, but we still had to pay extra for the emergency request. When the “technicians” arrived, they didn’t even have a roto-rooter for a clogged pipe! They spent an hour sitting at the sink and staring at it turning water on and off. Then they went to the basement and disconnected the pipes. Then they left for parts, and after 2 hours they were gone, we called them wondering what was going on. They said they would not be coming back that day because the parts they needed didn’t fit in their car. They were going to have Home Depot ship the parts to us, and when the parts arrive, the techs would be coming back to continue working on the emergency plumbing issue. We tried calling Angi. No response. Emailed Angi. No response. Angi has a Happiness policy, they supposedly guarantee the job will not be finished until customer is happy but they never even replied to our calls or emails. The issue was not fixed and the money was taken. No returns, no credits, no apologies! Will never use this service again!

Horrible company unreliable, difficult to understand and poor customer service. We tried to search for contractors on this website a couple times but if we didn’t make a purchase they will have someone who can barely speak English reach out and try to push a sale and those agents have no idea what kind of work we’re trying to complete. So we never hired anyone directly through them. However, recently, we purchase installation through Lowes and Lowes started contracting all their work through Handy which is owned by Angie’s list. It’s a simple swap of a garage door opener but we’ve had to reschedule three time. The first time the person sent by handy showed up late, asked for extra payment and walked away when we refused. Second person completed the installation but item started malfunctioning the very next morning and made the garage door crooked. Third time we asked for followup to fix the faulty installation and the person has not showed up yet. So on all three occasions with the handy contractors it was not a great experience. Calling in to handy customer service is an even worse experience. They talk over you, they cut you off and they’re not able to resolve the situation. I really hope Lowes stops using them.

Worlds most unprofessional - professional services. Angi had the nerves to reschedule 4 times my furniture installation that allmodern purchased. The interesting part is the terms for their policy: They rescheduled without phone calls Upon my call they can only 48 hrs ahead When I ask what type of assurance they can provide they said I could cancel the service if I wasn’t happy with they policy. (Who wouldn’t?) As they were unable to make a person available to put together the furniture for 4 times I asked for a refund… guess what allmodern wouldn’t refund me but Angi will. Ready… they will MAIL ME A CHECK WITHIN 4-8 WEEKS Lastly they had the nerves to ask me if there was anything I’d like to say about their service. I told them to look online… Task Rabbit managed to get someone to my place same day and my bed is happily installed. I truly will like to thank customer success at Angi for: The 9 calls Customer service hang ups Wait times + The wait for my money. Way to go..! I can’t wait to hire you again and experience incompetence on delivering on your service promise. Update 3 days post canceling Angi continues to reschedule thank goodness that Taskrabbit was able to resolve it same day. This is truly laughable matter.

Pushy service. Use this app with caution. This app was not what I expected per past wonderful reviews I heard about Angie’s List. If you want to get something done, and you don’t care who does it or for how much, it’s a good option. I wanted to use it to for competitive quotes for roofers in my area to compare to the company I used for my garage. When I entered in my info, it only gave me two options. I chose one and had the most painful hard sales appointment. “We have to have you sign for financing to hold this bid.” The company, Dabella, was trying to get into the Midwest market, but I just met you, AND you’re way higher than what Angi said was the average cost, no thanks! Honestly they did really pitch quality but my anger with the continued hard sell even after the 90 minute meeting (!) was too much. I tried one more time to see if I could see vendors in my area, by randomly picking a fence fix (which I do need). Yet again, I was given a small number of options, none of which I’d heard of before. I chose none of them but was called by one anyway so I gave in to a quote. $500 for one fence post is just too high. And the Angi reps called me once each about each project when they sensed I wasn’t going with their vendors.

Angi is like a virus…. There’s nothing wrong with the contractors on the app, in fact, it’s quite the opposite: I quite like them. The problem is the way Angie goes about their business. They are so focused on building our their data mining, they lose sight of common-sense marketing. One follow up email is perfectly fine. However, if I don’t respond, I do not want you calling me, I do not want you emailing me. I’m perfectly capable at following through myself when I know I need to follow through. However, as soon as you put in a new project, they will call you, they will email you relentlessly until you respond and provide the marketing research. I can unsubscribe, and I can answer the phone and tell them I don’t want any more phone calls. And then it will stop… but as soon as he put a new project, it starts all over again. They resubscribe you to all of their marketing newsletters, and you’ll start getting follow-up, phone calls and emails from Angi. And I want to be clear: this is Angie’s list calling me, not a contractor. I don’t mind talking to contractors; in fact that’s why I use the app. But I don’t need to follow up phone call from customer service every day.

Bath Remodel Disappointment. After working with HA for nearly 25 years in an array of successful home remodels and additions, I unfortunately stumbled onto a highly recommended HA contractor for a bath remodel which proved to be our worst nightmare. Beginning from day one where the contractor failed to show up without even a call, our 5-week max project turned into a 13- week remodel debacle covering all of 60-sq ft. Worst yet, the 3 calls I placed to my HA rep in Denver were never returned and the face to face meeting I had with our contractor after dealing with just 10 days of shear turmoil, I resigned myself to sucking it up and simply plowing thru whatever else lay ahead. Only 2 positive outcomes of the project - a second ‘independent sub’ from the contractor was brought in after 8 weeks to try and salvage/save our remodel (which he fulfilled with flying colors) and the project finally was completed. May 29 - Sept 14; an entire summers’ worth of frustration, turmoil and complete miscommunication - sorry HA, but after this mess, I may begin looking elsewhere for future references and help.

Last minute cancellation. This is an “uber” style intermediary which puts your job request out to be claimed by contractors. Someone selects your service and books. On my first booking, a “painter” showed up without a ladder or tape, and tried to paint over wet plaster (which one must not do). We complained about their work and got a credit. We applied the credit to a house cleaning service. They cancelled 5 minutes before the booking. We rescheduled a week later and again they cancelled 15 minutes after they were supposed to arrive. If you are a person with a family, or who values your time, you know prepping for these services takes effort. There is no accountability for these failed bookings. Just a “Welp, how about another try next week”. I even asked the rep if they have some reputation system so I could be sure to get a contractor who was well-rated and completed their jobs, but this does not exist. Now I’m trying to get my credit back in the form of a real refund but I feel like it’s a fat chance.

T. Defazio Vernon Hill, IL.. We contacted several construction companies that were advertised on Home Advisors, Dirty Deeds was the 1st. to return a call immediately asking what we needed done in our home. We needed a basement family room dry walled, taped and primed. My husband is very particular, a perfectionist to say the least, never happy with anyone else’s job since he himself has done work in the past. J. Martinez, the owner stopped in while the work was being done to be sure things were going right, before they taped he returned again, and again before priming the walls. The walls were the smoothest ever! His work crew were on schedule each day and were extra careful keeping all areas free from debris. We will call them for any further project without hesitation. If I can give them 10 stars I would!

Has not been useful to me. I originally booked a prepaid house cleaning with their “happiness guarantee” and they canceled with less than an hour to the time of the appointment. This was after I had received some text reminders the day prior. Then I looked for handyman services and didn’t want to do the prepaid thing again. I now have a list of providers without their contact information or direct means of contacting them. I then looked for electrical services (replace a circuit breaker) and a repair of a mailbox post. The pricing was over $300 for each service (using the prepaid option, and that was supposedly after a 20% discount because I paid for some membership). I did not choose either of these options and feel like I have wasted my time and would be better off just googling it. I had a good result a couple years back when it was actually HomeAdvisor. Now I am very confused by the different brands (Angi and HomeAdvisor) and I get tons of emails from both.

Vague Professional Profiles. Why are “professional” profiles vague when it should contain details. Other than trying to find someone local, I find this app is lacking key elements about the “professional.” Sure, there’s a snippet of a bio, but it lacks specifics. For example, if I’m searching a profile for power washing/cleaning exterior one-story residential project, I want to know if “professional” is going to use his or my water source (if it’s mine, I’ll charge him for water usage), chemicals used, water pressure, other methods used in cleaning when the power wash failed, etc. This is only one example, and the same applies to other projects that I noticed. If this app is to help me select a “professional” then give me more than reviews and bio snippet. Reviews help, but they can be biased or paid for. To sum it up, when I review profiles, I want to know why this “professional” believes (s)he deserves my business. Up front, I want to know service details, certifications, licenses, years experience, education/training, etc. And when I make my selection then I’ll discuss details about the project and inquire additional information from the “professional.” This app should be setup in favor of the consumer, not the professional. Like I mentioned above, “why does this professional believes (s)he deserves my business.” I’m the one paying hundreds or thousands for a service or project. App has GREAT potential!!!

Incorrect information. I downloaded the HomeAdvisor App because I wanted to research Metal Roofing Professionals in my area. I went through the sign up process within the App (name, address, contact info, type of project, etc...) & it said it was unable to verify my information. So I called the provided HomeAdvisor number for help, told the rep my issue & asked for help finishing the signup process for the App. She was very nice, but was more interested in scheduling a Roofing consult appointment for me with the companies that she pulled up on her computer. I told her I was looking specifically for a metal roofer, was not ready to schedule any appointments yet & simply wanted some names of professionals to research independently. So she gave me 4 companies - but when I researched them, NONE were metal roofing installers. Only shingle roofing. In the App I don’t like having to provide my personal contact information (phone # & e-mail specifically) before I can see professionals in my area. I don’t want to be bombarded with phone calls or emails. I am giving a low rating because of the process & misinformation.

Mold mitigation of basement wall. I am so pleased with the job Retoration1 did to a section of my basement wall that had mold developing. I have a finished basement and it required a six foot section of the drywall to be removed. The Restoration crew were extremely careful when they came into the house, making sure to take preventive measures in preventing a mess. They were extremely efficient in completing the mold removal process and were very thorough explaining all processes of the job to me. Needless to say I was very happy with the results of the job. I was very pleased with the cost of the job and there was no pressure on me when I was given an estimate prior to the job. This was the first time I used Home Advisor to help with a project, and I look forward to using them again if I need help to fix a problem. Thanks Home Advisor, and a big thanks to Restoratin1.

One of the worst.. Oh, man, who designed this thing? From the front-end, where I cannot see all pros (just the two Angi selects) and once I look at the details of a pro I cannot back up to the main screen (the only way out is to “Request a Quote”) to the back-end that won’t let me change -their- auto-assigned password to one of my own, this is one of THE most ill-conceived and executed apps I’ve encountered. Sure, they have a lot of whoop-de-do gizmos like a map that shows a growing radius from my location and a step-by-step progress checklist as they assemble the list of pros, but how about giving me control over what I view, what pros to pick (from a non-curated list), and the particulars of my account. The website isn’t much better. I’ve been working with the app on two projects and quote responses from supposed 5* pros are almost non-existent; may be a problem with the “pros” but based on this app’s performance, I’m not sure anymore.

Crap service.. I attempted to use the app a week ago to find contractors to repair a gutter. The app made me call a phone number where it originally hung up on me. When the person finally answered they had to transfer me to someone else to even do anything. That that employee told me I could only use their flat rate services. Scheduled that with them and was told the contractors would get ahold of me to determine what was needed for the job. the contractors arrived at my house and they were told I would have the materials. Long story short they were unable to perform my repairs. The contractor was awesome and tried to do whatever he could to fix where the mess up was. I never agreed I would have the materials. Well call customer service and after multiple calls I was only refunded half of what I paid. There was no “happiness guarantee” like they promise and payment up to full price like their emails said. Never again will I use them and never again will I ever recommend them to anyone.

Absolute worse experience. Follow up: as you see they responded. If I need to get on a call for you to walk me through your app navigation then what is the purpose of your app. Instead fix it, I don’t want to be patronized by being ask to have my hand held to navigate a poorly designed app and service. Also, my project was completed in the app. By who? I certainly didn’t say it was and the job hasn’t been completed physically. Laughable. Stupid. You should be embarrassed. Don’t use this app. If I could give it 0 stars, I would. The app experience is confusing. You request quotes for your project without being able to enter any project details, then wait what feels like an eternity with no end to hear back. The UI also tells you you can request quotes from other professionals within the project without any way of actually doing that; there’s no button, no actual action you can take. The app then tells you that a company would like to quote your job, and when you go into your project, there’s a big “request a quote” button from those companies, so it leaves you confused about whether they did ask to quote or you are asking for a quote. Then the eternity game with no feedback starts again when you don’t get any response. They remove companies you requested quotes from without any reasoning, so it looks like a huge bug, which it most likely is. Absolutely terrible. Go to thumbtack instead.

Not at all what I expected. Need a professional whole house move in clean and sanitized. I received two calls the first day. Neither call had the professional etiquette I expected. I have had in addition about 10 Angie emails suggesting, see your price. All it is, is a starting price with no company attached. Received another email stating a company wants to quote my project. I sent them a message, but no response up to 2 hours later. My guess is Angie is soliciting on behalf of the company without even communicating with them about their interest in my project. Each of these emails are asking me to join them with a fee that may be recovered if I use one of their companies. These companies are supposed to be maintaining a 3 star rating. No complaints here, but most of the 3 and above stars have less than 10 reviews. Just how many reviews does it take to get a professional rating of 3 stars or more? At least 3, maybe? Angie is not what I expected.

A Happy Previous customer. When I lived on Long Island, NY I used your service quite a few times. I had termites taken care of, I had windows, inside and out, washed, dried and left sparkly clean and lastly I had a large piece of furniture moved to a friend’s house. She had been a friend of my daughter since first grade and when I was moving South I gave her the furniture. I found someone from your site to do the job. I have been very pleased with your service. For my move back to Long Island, I will probably need some help packing. Last winter I slipped on ice, broke my back and needed surgery to repair it. I am very happy with the result but I’ve discovered moving boxes back around, wrapping things up and then moving full boxes around has caused me some severe pain. My doctor is not happy! I have started packing boxes of fragile glassware to be shipped to my son to hold onto for me.

Helpful. This app is helpful and I received two contacts about my project within 48 hours of my initial submission. The app would be better if there was a way to see side by side comparisons of contractors or a potential list of contractors. When my contractors reached out to me, they called me and caught me off guard. When I did the request I was still working and by the time I was able to look into my personal stuff it was after hours. With me working past 7 pm on most days it would be helpful and beneficial to see the contractor reviews and chose my own and select who I want to further work with or receive quotes from instead of receiving a random phone call and not have anything in front of me to review the contractors rating, company rating and even possibly examples of work completed. As a millennial everything is done electronically and want things right at my fingertips.

App is difficult to use and communication is so 20th century. The app is very difficult to navigate! I tried using “contact us” for help and only got the option to leave feedback. While I was able to enter feedback, there was no way to actually submit it! Also, the communication is stuck in the 20th century! I tried using the website/app because I almost never have time for phone calls during the work day. I have received no quotes via email or app message, but my phone rings all day from numbers identified as Home Advisor, but not one caller left a voicemail! It would be so helpful if they insist on an outdated and inconvenient communication means, at least leave a message with the quote I requested and how to call you back when I’m able! I feel like they just want to get me on the phone so they can do a hard sell. Waste of time both in trying to find a provider and in the distractions from work! I’m trying to cancel the job request, but I can’t do that on the app.

Kitchen remodel. The girl on the phone was nice and helpful but that’s where it ended. The reviews I read on the people I was interested in we’re not available and we’re not taking any referrals. So I was transferred to a contractor that was available. The conversation started out very strange with like three hellos I’m saying is there anyone there. Then he spent five minutes and complained about being charged even when he doesn’t speak to anyone and how shocked he was I was a live person on the phone I assured him I was ready to discuss my project. Wow was I surprised at his prices. I have an 11x12 kitchen and my plan requires only 2 upper and 4 lower cabinets. This is not the kind of house that warrants at $35,000+ kitchen and that is not including appliances. One non load bearing 5ft wall removed. When I was shocked and said wow that’s a lot and I had to hear five minutes of how he has to pay everybody and overhead etc. etc. No wonder he was available. Fortunately I was able to find somebody on my own that was reasonable and dependable.

Angi app problems. There needs to be a place to explain when other is the only answer that applies. This is my third project where the with Angi, and not one time did the questionnaire give me the correct choice to describe my projects! For instance: 1.There was no choice given in your questionnaire for painting a new addition. (To match the existing painted home.) Only for painting the entire exterior of the home. 2.The only other choice that could apply was for painting the interior of the home(?) 3.There did not seem to be any way to get like projects grouped together. This was not the case when I hired this sort of work done on my own. For Instance: I.Insulating and hanging Sheetrock. 2.Or having my deck pressure washed & stained, sealed or painted. Nothing here is insurmountable, However it is frustrating, or at the very least annoying. I don’t mean to be petty, especially since the job that was completed turned out to be beautifully done. However, even so, another contractor had to be called to finish the job, as the first painter never returned to complete what she had started! But in all fairness, Angi did take over & in very short order sent another painter to finished the job w/in 2 days! If I had hired the contractor myself W/out going to Angi, who knows when or even if it would have gotten done at all! Perhaps I should have given them a higher score?

Angi markets your information without consent. I signed up, and requested a quote from ONE company. That company began calling me at all hours of the day without leaving messages. Then, I started getting calls from other companies, again, at all hours of the day, not leaving messages and repetitive calls. When I would finally answer, they didn’t even have the details of the job right. One company decided to show up without my permission when I wasn’t home. Lucky for me his sense of professionalism was only matched by his attention to detail; he went to the wrong house. Still though, not okay, and from a company that markets itself as a way to filter out the shady/bad service/subpar companies out there, this is ironic and awful. Unfortunately the entire process of using this company has been a major headache. Also, I tried calling their customer service number about my issues, and the number wasn’t even in service. They make it difficult to reach them, which is usually a bad sign itself.

Paint job/floor replacement. After going thru the process of identifying and eliminating contractors that I would and would not use from my research on Home Advisor, I decided on using Hurtado Home Restoration. They are an excellent company to use. The paint job and floor replacement that I hired them for are excellent! I plan on posting on their website about it. Erick is professional, punctual and stays within the quotes presented. Next year, I’ll very likely get a hold of him directly to refurbish my condo again, in preparation for the sale of it. Why 3 stars only then for HA? Your app’s filters that we use as consumers are very limiting in what we describe for a potential merchant, what exactly needs to be repaired and why. For example, one of the bath tubs needed much attention...perhaps a full replacement. One of the contractors that reached out back to me, wouldn’t even show up onsite to see the work needed. Another contractor was there for maybe 10 minutes and said the job was not for them, because my ceilings were too high and for other reasons. Had I know through the elimination process that they were not a good fit for this specific project, I wouldn’t have scheduled the appointment. Wasted time...both for them and me. Providing me as an HA user with the ability to provide more detail about my projects could save a potential contractor and ME $ and time. Thank you.

No Show x 2!. Got a confirmation call from Housekeeper #1. Needed someone to do full cleanup before a Mother’s Day party. Two days before confirmed date, received another “confirmation” from a different Tech. Responded that I there must be a mix-up and looks like job got double booked. She responded that she “thought” the original person cancelled the appointment. Told Tech #2 that I would verify information and get right back to her. Called the FIRST Tech and phone was disconnected. 🤦🏻 Contacted Tech #2 and confirmed time and address for the following day. Tech even texted me back around 730 pm to make sure we were good to go… Keep in mind, We were COUNTING on the clean-up Help because we had worked a dry full work week and planned on shopping and cooking while we had the luxury of someone to do the cleaning. Appointment time came and went. Was a NO SHOW. After 15 minutes, texted the Tech our address and phone number again in the event she either lost it or maybe dropped her phone in a toilet she was planning to clean 🧽. Then called. No answer. I was disgusted by the unprofessional experience. No cancellation, No communication, No care whatsoever. Angi……. WHY have an agency at all if you’re not going to monitor, supervise or basically keep track of the people who are under your umbrella of responsibility?? If I could have rated this service a 0, it would have been my first choice…😱🤦🏻😳

Not consumer friendly—I want to make the calls but instead they get my phone number.. I give it a poor rating because the app does not give the consumer the power over who gets my contact info. Do Not sign up to test it unless you are prepared for multiple texts and phone calls— there is no choice in the matter! You have to give your phone number to proceed. I wanted to see which companies would come up for a window project and check on them (reviews, etc) before talking with them. But even though i didn’t ‘select’ to be contacted by the two or three companies that were listed for my project I started immediately getting texts and phone calls. There is no ‘opt out’ choice. Although I replied ‘stop’ after 3 texts I still got a phone call 1.5 hours later from a contractor. Also for my window project I need to replace 6-7 windows. But I want to repair one and cut 2 new windows. But the app only allows one of the choices at a time and therefore I need a full service firm and could not select.

Over promised + wildly underdelivered. Angi was better when she was Angie’s List: the Consumer Reports of contractor reviews. Post merger m/rebrand with HomeAdvisor this app/service has reversed their business model: aggregating consumer contact data/requests and selling to area contractors for a per job fee. While others have attempted this middle man contractor model in the past (see Walmart’s Handy service or others) none seem to do it with much vetting of contractors on their system, since that would likely mean less service providers to “middle-man.” Worst of all for more rural areas is the fallback first party Angi Service, which in one instance sent a random painter to a property of mine, unannounced, unscheduled, who later claimed a $250 painting job was completed, even having never even entered the premise. Ouch. Add in frequent app crashes, zero contact info off the Angi website, and no apparent sync of projects posted in the app to the same web-based project list in the same Angi website and Angi’s ultimately a service that’s wildly over-promised and under-delivered. That’s a real shame since there’s a real need here for quality connection services for professionals that are often as far from online as possible given their day to day work. Transparent customer service, better web-app integration, and a refocus on Angi’s core mission as a connector would go a long way to improving this service.

I would give a zero if I can. How is the app rated over 4 stars? I never leave comments for anything, but this has to be the worst experience ever! I scheduled a cleaning service weeks ahead. On the day of service, no one came or called. I called the contractor listed on my booking, no one responded. When I called again, it appears to be a spam number and can’t be contacted. There is no way to find customer service number on the home advisor app at all. I googled and found the chat, was told they don’t handle these issues and I have to call another number. Fist time a lady answered and did not apologize even once, she said we can reschedule 2 days later, which is not acceptable for me as this is the last day I will be in this apartment. Then she said she will tried to contact the contractor and call me back. She did not. I then called them again, another agent answered, same thing, he never called me back. Now I need to figure out how to clean this apartment last minute and how to get my money back. Stay away! Be aware!

T. Clegg. I recommend strongly that you do not use this site for reputable help.. we have tried twice.. the first time was for a home painter.. a large den and kitchen with the kitchen cabinets included.. the first day was the ONLY day that went ok but all they did was tape things off.. 2nd day the wrong color paint was being applied (after I had explicitly given them the color choice and which paint company we wanted them to use).. 3rd day they came with the right color but wrong sheen (didn’t even know what ‘sheen’ was..!long story short, by the 3rd time they came to do retouches, they told me they had to look on you tube to find out how to correct a paint mistake!!!! Done.. Second time we used them, we were duped for $512.. as it turned out, the guy didn’t have a legit business.. Called angies list and all they could offer to remedy the situation was to write a review about the people we hired.. sounds like they have no qualifications for someone to sign up for the ’high’ quality professionals they say they have..

Harassed Relentlessly. I’ve never felt so powerless and harassed. I have received nearly FIFTY calls since lunch (4 hours ago) and I can’t get them to stop. I’ve called “Angi” twice, spoke with two people I could barely understand, and requested to have the phone calls stopped. They said they’d “write emails” and cancel my request, but that they couldn’t ensure that the phone calls would stop. I DIDN’T EVEN WANT TO BE CONTACTED IN THE FIRST PLACE! I was just trying to look up businesses. I’VE LITERALLY RECEIVED TWO PHONE CALLS WHILE WRITING THIS. If you click the button to find businesses, it actually sends all of your information out to every business in the region that uses Angi so they may contact you. MAKE THAT THREE PHONE CALLS SINCE I STARTED TYPING THIS. THE NEARLY 50 i MENTIONED EARLIER JUST HIT 50. YEAH ME!! When you reach the page that gives you the option the click one of the red buttons to request contact from a company… IT IS ALREADY TOO LATE!! You have OFFICIALLY SEALED YOUR DOOM. 51. Fix your house yourself or use a different app. RUN.

Bad service from start to finish. The guy arrived a few minutes late and took longer than the designated two hours to complete the assembly of the futon we purchased through Wayfair. He damaged our walls in the process, scratched up the futon arms badly, and to top it all off, he ruined the futon by assembling it incorrectly. He tried to hide what he had done and hurried out without letting my wife inspect the furniture first. He never got a signature and didn’t mention what he had done. We filed a claim process and the representatives have repeatedly asked us for the same documents over and over again. We have sent the receipt for the futon purchase and photos of the damage multiple times. Every time, someone new responds and goes in a different direction. No one is interested in actually helping us get a refund for the ruined futon and the money we paid for the scam artist to damage it before he scurried away. This company is taking advantage of people and I would strongly advise any potential customers reading this to stay away!

Incredibly buggy app, frustrating experience.. Aside from the technical failing on behalf of the app (broken page loads, submitting feedback causing the app to crash, etc.), my experience on this platform has been a borderline nightmare. I had contractors cancel without warning half an hour after they were due to show. Another contractor showed up and then requested we cancel because they didn’t want to use a specific type of hook, despite offering to run to the hardware store and quickly purchase their preferred equipment. I could go on, but I’ll leave it at this, this platform and it’s app have very bad quality control leading to an awful experience. I happily deleted the app and washed my hand from all things Angie’s List.

Horrible. DO NOT USE. Was searching for a plumber. Had Angi call me quoting me 4 different prices to perform a repair on inside main shutoff valve. When I asked about the plumber coming to look at the job since the piping and valve was over 50 years old I found out that they weren’t even going to send a plumber but a handyman. A handyman for a major plumbing fix. Then I was told that I would have to pay for 3 hours of labor regardless, even if it only took an hour to fix the issue. On two of the calls I asked to speak to someone in charge since I was being quoted 4 prices and why they weren’t sending someone to look at the job. Not to mention that I was looking for a plumber and why they thought sending a handyman was the equivalent. On these 2 calls I was hung up on. A third call comes and I voice my opinion and concerns about Angis business practices and I was transferred to a complaint department only to be dismissed and hung up on again after being told that paying for hours of labor not performed was Angis way of doing things.

Hires any self proclaimed “pro”. I have tried to hire two contractors for service at my house through Home Advisor. Both have been horrible! The first lady was supposed to come and clean our new house and an hour before she was to arrive, she says she cannot make it because she had some issues in her home country. She did not give a solution or alternative for us and left us hanging! Second person was coming to check out our water softener. We had an appointment at 8 AM. At 8:23 AM I called him and asked him where he was. He said he was running late. I told him it is common courtesy to call your clients to let them know that you’re running late. His response was I will be there soon to which I asked how soon? He said 20 minutes. Absurd!! I told him to not. One at all! As my title says, home advisor has any person that’s self proclaims to be a professional in whatever field. I don’t think they verify if they are or not. Needless to say, I will not be using Home Advisor ever again!

Unprofessional in all Aspects. I downloaded the app, and looked for contractors in my area. There are none. I didn’t go any further, due to the fact that they had no options for what I needed. A representative called me about 30 minutes later. He asked of I still needed a job done for the repair. I told him yes, he stated they had several contractors in my area and the app was wrong. He took all my information and created an account for me, so I thought. He booked an appointment for the next morning at 8:00 am. No show, no call! Call Angi customers service, Im a ghost in their system and have no appointment, which I already gave my credit card number for. This representative apologized, set up mu account, took my card information for a second time and booked the job again for two days out. Surprise, No Show and No call. The appointment has been rebooked because they have no one to take the job. What a joke! Canceling my membership and I hope no one else waste their time.

Mixed reviews. My first experience w/Home Adviser was by phone. They were SO helpful, quick & efficient!! They even went out of their network to get us the help we needed. The company we contacted was excellent, licensed & bonded. THEN, I contacted Home Adviser on-line for another project - it was a horrible fiasco!!! I was given three (3) options to choose from & after only trying to "check" references on the first one, they called & spoke to my husband, who agreed, prematurely, for them to come out the next day. He "thought" I had called them & they were just confirming a time to come. It caused a very stressful time for us. I'm praying they will change the App so contractors won't get our contact information unless we contact them ourselves!! I'll give Home Adviser App another chance later BUT calling them is such a pleasant experience, I much prefer this "old-fashioned" service!! Thanks Home Adviser!!!

Really disappointed that Wayfair subs out work to Angi. Wayfair is using Angi to assemble furniture and grills. Wayfair ships it’s products fast. Angi assigns a contractor. The contractor doesn’t show up. Angi app says the work is completed. Angi app wants you to email customer service with issues because you can’t contact the contractor once work is completed—you can only rate and tip. There are problems with this app and and process. Update after Developer’s response: Wayfair contacted angi. Angi said they could schedule someone else in 48 hours. I agreed. They didn’t show up a second time. Wayfair called Angi again and they said the contractor was on his way and in my neighborhood. I waited two more hours. He didn’t show up again. Wayfair contacted angi again and they said they could reschedule in 48 more hours. I declined. I will just put it together myself. This was a major waste of time for me and wayfair staff. Angi feels like a scam and wayfair seems like a dupe. Steer clear of Angi. They’re just looking for downloads to sell data and get ad revenue.

Disappointing at best - I need Angie back. I loved Angie’s list when it came to market. I didn’t have to detail my project only to have Angi’s recommendations ask me for the same information - a waste of everyone’s time. I had access to a wider variety of contractors giving me choices that met my criteria. Contractor’s respected communication protocols, today Contractors bypass Angi and call, text, email, or respond on Angi. There is no consistency, if I wanted a firestorm of uselessness I’d post a Craig’s List help ad. Add to that Angi calling everyday to see what they can do to help. This does not help my ADHD or PTSD - I’m having an anxiety attack as I write this. Finally, and my favorite, strangers! I had two “contractors” whom I did not know and had not communicated with show up, tell my husband they got our information from Angi and he assumed they were legit. Imagine his surprise when I told them they were not on our list and I had not requested a quote from them. They began walking around like they owned the place, telling me what I should do with my space (not at all what I had planned). When they left they said they would have me a quote that evening and I had not heard from them until 5 minutes ago when one called, began speaking before I could identify myself and to ask when I wanted him to start. “On what?” Angi - I don’t know what you have done, but I can tell you it isn’t working which leaves me with the Yellow Pages.

Probably the worst outsourced Support I’ve ever seen. First of all, let me say when Angi works, it is great. We’ve used them for years for small projects as well as ongoing service like lawn mowing and cleaning. It provides an extra layer of accountability for contractors who you wouldn’t normally have any idea how to address. Now the bad. There is nothing but basic support. Their phone support is all outsourced overseas with no accountability. I spent 45 minutes on a call to try to get the lawn service delayed, not cancelled, since we have had no rain. In the end they cancelled the entire service and when I asked to speak to a supervisor which I hoped might help me better, they dropped me back to the main support queue where I spent another 15 minutes on hold to find out I would not be talking to a supervisor. In the end, I just cancelled all my services through Angi. It isn’t helpful if I have to waste all this time to accomplish things really I should be able to do online.

Not enough OKC pros listed. Everyone that called us for computer repair was from out of state. We ended up finding a pro ourselves. That company was "Affordable Computer Repair". The guy was English speaking, came to home a couple hours after calling , and did a great job for a reasonable price. He also called back later in the day to make sure everything was still working properly. Another problem was instead of getting a list of pros that we could read about and check reviews, we just kept getting phone calls from out of state people who wanted to do the repairs by talking to us on the phone. Not helpful at all. We also used them to find a locksmith and they only had about 2 or 3 listed and none of them were able to fix our door lock. We have used them for other projects with very good results.

STOLEN PROPERTY. avoid angies at all costs. They paired me with one of their “professionals” to paint my cabinets. I provided all the supplies. He came to the house the day prior to see the cabinets and my supplies, he knew exactly what he was working with. They day of the job he was late, swore in front of my children and took frequent smoke breaks before I kicked him out. He didn’t tape anything off and didn’t set tarps down so they’re was paint EVERYWHERE and was confused when the pain wasn’t sticking and after all the paint was bubbled up he told me he made a mistake and said they needed to be sanded, which I also had to pay for. I was in tears and kicked him out. Before leaving he stole my cordless drill and tried to get me to pay him cash for the “work” he did. This company has no regard for its customers. They’ve completely left me out to dry as I’ve been calling for a week now at hours at a time and I can’t get through. I’ve sent countless emails and no response to that either. Absolutely ridiculous.

Don’t waste your time!. Don’t waste your time. You’re better off hiring one outside of the app, who are actually for the job your hiring them for. Me and my husband were looking for an electrician to fix one of our bathroom lights that were not working when we switch the light switch. We found the app and thought it was pretty neat to hire a contractor online, so we set up an appointment. On the day of our appointment, there was guy who came in a Toyota Camry with no tools, who said he came to fix the lights. He literally just came inside and look at the lights; fiddle with it a little bit and then walk to his car and then walked back to the bathroom. He did that for 2 hours without fixing the light and then he left saying, “My 2 hours are up, you can pay me more for staying or I can leave.” And we told him to go home. He’s just wasting our time. He didn’t even clean up the mess that he created in the bathroom. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME!!! We won’t be using this service anymore.

Chaotic listing service that aggressively spams you. It’s less of a network that actually connects you to the perfect fit or gives you options to pick your own contractor, and more just sells your info to EVERY contractor that’s willing to pay them for it. I was only just starting my research and I’m being blasted non stop by calls from contractor companies large enough to have sales departments. One of them even called 10 times within a two hour period, and that’s just one of MANY. Now I’m just putting my phone in do not disturb mode because it’s all too much. I already deleted my projects on the app, but I’m still being blasted with calls and texts. I loathe this type of business practice, so I’m deleting the app, never hiring any of these contractors from Angi, and never bothering to use it ever again. I didn’t sign up just to get aggressively spammed, I just wanted to peruse contractors at my own pace on a listing site that has reviews and options to contact them. Google or yelp are going to be better for that.

This App Makes Me Want To Break My Phone. This app makes me want to throw my phone across the room. The UI is absolutely infuriating. I can’t find the information I need. Whatever happened to tapping a business name to bring up their contact info? Is that really so hard? Starting a project is cumbersome. There’s no way to delete a project (I tried a test to see how it works and now I can’t delete it). Nothing is where I expect it. Have they even run usability tests?? I’d love to see them put this app in the hands of their own execs and ask them to do simple tasks like looking up a phone number or checking the ratings for a contractor they heard about. These are basic basic functions but are impossible in this app. And then there are the contractors themselves. Response rate is low (only 1 out 5 in my most recent case). And the quality of work is disappointing (a 5-star contractor has permanently ruined my attic and now I’m considering legal action). Some apps are disappointing. Some are frustrating. But few apps send me into a rage like this one.

Membership Seems Uncancellable (Scam Behavior). My spouse and I paid for a membership, we had tried everything else and couldn’t find anyone able to investigate a malfunctioning dishwasher. We paid, assuming that between the savings now, and the guarantee, we’d be better off. Maybe we were, as our first “Pro” kept claiming things the day of like being stuck in traffic until they just stopped responding. Then, the second “Pro” handled the situation well. I’m not sure if I would have eaten the first prepaid price without the membership or not. The problems arose when I started trying to cancel our membership, which still doesn’t work in the app or phone browser on either of 2 devices. Essentially, we have some financial uncertainty ahead and can’t afford the yearly fee, but so far all we have run into is an authentication check redirect loop or something. I’m assuming it’s a bug but even so it’s unacceptable considering it has taken over a month now to fix, as I’ve been checking that long at this point.

Problem with the booking staff.. Every time I schedule an appointment I am very detailedOrientedTo let them know exactly what I want and exactly what I expect. Unfortunately they do not share this information with the professionals and I say that lately hire for the jobs because when they show up there and prepared and they have no idea of why they’re here. So when I tell them I scheduled for a five hour deep clean top to bottom cleaning and they look shocked oh I’m only here for three hours and I looked at her little tiny vacuum cleaner I thought that’s not gonna work so then she realized the same thing and asked if she could use my vacuum cleaner which was fine except she didn’t put away and it’s still in the hallway. If you don’t know where it goes ask someone. So I let her borrow my vacuum cleaner and I heard her vacuuming and I saw her running in and out of the bathrooms but I didn’t see what she was doing and I know why I didn’t see anything because she wasn’t doing anything the bathrooms were still dirty after she left very unhappy.

This is how you trash a product/company. Angie’s list used to be a singular resource for looking up contractors for a project you had in mind. You could scroll through a list of them, look at their ratings, member feedbacks which were so insightful, giving you a real sense of who you might be dealing with. This new version of Angies List app has decimated that. You now have to go through the process of identifying the project/timeline just to look at potential contractors. And JUST for that, prepare to be constantly spammed by these contractors. It’s as if the app aspires to undermine the whole concept of the do not call list. Whoever thought this is a great business model needs to be instantly fired. It was all about members verifying and legitimizing and keeping in check a business for other members, not Home Advisor trying to force feed some contractors it deems fit by whatever measure. Finally, Apple needs to look at how this new app has a 4.4 rating. It. Is. Simply. Not. Possible. That rating probably reflects what used to be Angie’s List.

Horrible. With the reviews and needing to find somebody to paint and do some minor repairs in my home, I decided to go with this app. First of all, they under estimated both jobs by a full day of work. Second, I am assuming they don’t check to make sure the “experts” they contract actually are in the field they are hired for. (The painter told me he was an electrician by trade). They also ask if you need help picking out supplies, even though we marked yes, the hired help didn’t get the memo. The painter did a good job, although it cost an additional day ($600). We were happy with his job. The misc. repairs needed were a leaking faucet, change outlets in home, dishwasher needed to be reconnected, and stove vent pipe also needed to be reconnected. He told me he could do all, but again timing was way off. He needed an additional 3-4 hours of work. So I paid an additional $300 for his work. He then cut a hole in sheet rock and busted a pipe and tried to tell me it had been leaking for a while(no water damage in wall). He also didn’t finish any of the jobs he was supposed to. Only good thing about the company was that they have a satisfaction guarantee that I took advantage of, they only paid the first amount charged though. So I am out the $300, and I had to hire a plumber to fix his mistakes which cost an additional $700. With no call from the company about this man, I am very disappointed. Will not use again, ever!

First time using the app and it’s been awful. First time using the app and a customer service rep cancelled my job without consulting me. Stating the reason was they couldn’t assign a pro. Yet I was assigned a pro whom I had been talking with daily about the upcoming job. When I called customer service they weren’t apologetic and were rude and kept talking over me. The sales team rebooked the job for me. The next morning my job was internally canceled again. Called customer service, no manager to let me speak to, but they assured it wouldn’t happen again. But it did! My job was canceled internally for a third time. I called customer service and told them what happened and asked why they didn’t track down the internal person who was canceling my jobs. They had no answers, other then wanting me to rebook the same job for the 4th time!! I said No! This is a complete waste of time. I am a first time customer and this is what the experience is like using Angi?!?!?!?!

I can’t tell if this real or a scam. Refrigerator repair - Things started off well. Scheduler had good info and supplied contact information, costs and made me an appointment for a technician to come out. Ever since then things went bad. Didn’t hear from technician for 5 days, sent me a text message. I replied and didn’t hear back for 2 more days. The technician asked me to cancel my appointment and they would do the job on the side for cheaper. I told them I would go with a different technician. I emailed Angi with what happened twice now, no response. I called the day of my appointment and Angi gave me a different technician to contact. I texted and called them, no answer, no reply. Which brings me to my title. I’m not a Karen, I’m quite understanding. I started this adventure 11 days ago, I’ve received 2 text messages from one technician and from Angi no email responses and 1 phone call. I don’t understand how this business can have over a 4 star average. Communication does not seem to be a priority. Is this real or a scam? Who knows!

Will never use again. I went to Angi to hire a plumber for a normal clean out that would require a longer pipe snake. I was mediately connected with a plumber that was supposed to come the next day and they canceled on me. Instead of them canceling, I had to call Angie to cancel myself. About 45 minutes later I got connected with another plumber and this was 8 PM the day before. Waking up the next day I still didn’t receive any contact info from the plumber that was supposed to come at 10:30 in the morning. I reached out to the plumber and they stated that I was going to have to rent equipment for them to use. I was going to pay them $300 to use a piece of equipment that I had to go rent. I could have hired a normal plumber for all of this. I called Angie to cancel because I was fed up with everything and they tried to charge me a $50 cancellation fee. I immediately fussed them out and they waived the fee within two seconds. This is one of the worst experience I’ve had with a servicing company and will never go to them or recommend them ever again!

Your OKAY!. I only used Home Advisor, because I could pay the contractor personally, and not pay a fee to someone like Angie’s list. The contractors paid Home Advisor to be on their list, not the public. But since both companies are now one, I checked and used a pro from their list, I may have over looked this pro on my own. But I also found I have a choice to pay my pro through Angi and pay a fee to save money. Or just pay the pro without paying a fee. If I was planning on hiring a lot of pro’s, doing a lot of work in a short amount of time. I would go with paying the fee. But for me it may be years down the road to hire some one to do a job. It’s all about money, not time. But rest assured I will be going through Angi
