IPGMail App Description & Overview

What is ipgmail app? iPGMail is an app that implements the OpenPGP standard (RFC 4880, RFC 6637) and allows the user to create and manage both public and private (RSA, DSA, ECDSA, EDDSA, ECDH) PGP keys and send and receive PGP encrypted messages.

PGP Keys and Messages can be passed to iPGMail several ways:
* From the iOS Mail.app - The iOS mail application will pass PGP attachments to iPGMail directly, eliminating the need to do an awkward copy-and-paste. NOTE: PGP messages that are part of the main body of an email will still have to be copy-and-pasted, only properly tagged attachments can be passed automatically.

* Directly from the system clipboard. Copy-and-paste the PGP message text from any file, webpage, or message, and it can be imported and decrypted by the app.

* Finder App - Connect your device to a Mac and open up the standard Finder app. Select the device on the left and then you can copy files to and from the app using standard Finder actions.

* AirDrop - Transfer key files from your Mac OS/X system (10.10 or later) to your iPhone/iPad (iOS 7+) using AirDrop feature.

* DropBox - You can link iPGMail to a dropbox account and transfer files to and from your dropbox file space. This means you can encrypt and protect your dropbox files or share files with others through your existing dropbox Public interface.

* Keybase.IO - You can import public keys from http://keybase.io by using the "+" button on the public key listing and then searching for users registered in keybase.io.

iPGMail now allows you to easily reply to encrypted text-based messages and includes the original text with "> " prefixed to the lines. This allows for more email like conversational exchanges, all with strong OpenPGP cryptographic protection.

iPGMail supports PGP key generation or import. The key database is secured using the highest level of iOS file protection and are only accessible when in use by the app. Using your own private PGP keys, you can encrypt and/or digitally sign any messages. Optionally, your public key can be attached to any message you send from the app so that the recipient can then import it into their own keychain, either on the phone or on any computer with PGP support.

iPGMail will import your private keys so you can reuse your existing PGP identity and keys on your iPhone or iPad. Both public and private keys can be imported through the interfaces listed above.

iPGMail allows the user to search public SKS PGP keyservers to find registered public keys for other people with whom the user can then send email that is digitally signed and/or encrypted encoded in OpenPGP ASCII Armor.

This app is ideal for securing your files or for sending secure email messages to specific parties without worrying about it being viewed by anyone other than the designated recipient.

The OpenPGP standard is described here:

IPGMail Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

No way to manage local storage. Needs a scalable way to manage local storage use. The only way to clean up local copies of decrypted messages seems to be to select and delete each message individually. This needs a ‘delete all’ button and an option to automatically delete local files after a set time.

Best way to use PGP mail on iOS. Been using this for about 2 years now and it hasn’t disappointed. Now uses Face ID as well!

Request Feature. Needs the ability to remove the "using iPGMail" metadata.

Password problem. The private key is as strong as the password protecting it, for that reason the password is software generated and can’t be memorized. If pgp message is imported through clipboard the app would ask for password which you have to switch the app again to go copy it and return to the app to see the password screen gone!. I wish the developer make it possible to store the password in the app and enable it by touch/face ID

Waste of money. Doesent do anything that it advertised

Very nice improvements. I've been using this app for a while and it used to be much more difficult to use, these last few updates have really made it my go to for iOS gpg encryption. With just a few more tweaks it would be flawless. Keep up the good work!

Works well, UI is a bit dated. Given the limitations of integrating security features into stock iOS apps, this works surprisingly well. It allows easy search of keyservers, import of existing public/private keys, and does most of the heavy lifting required to get a PGAp encrypted/signed email out the door. The UI feels a bit dated, but I’m more interested in the functionality, which it delivers. Well worth the money.

Easy to use. This app is great if you are not familiar with PGP or encrypt in Messages. It is very user-friendly and works great!

The best I've found. This is simply the best pgp app that I've found for iOS, and I've tried many others. Probably the only gripe that I have is that you can't select the particular symmetric encryption algorithm (when using symmetric encryption) that you want. It simply uses the default algorithm.

Understand what you are and are not getting. This app does what it does really well. As far as I can see the low ratings are from people who couldn’t figure out how to set it up or use it which in part is just about the inherent complexity of using PGP with email. But I’m giving 5 stars because if you can figure out how to use it, it’s the best available PGP solution on IOS and it really does get the job done when you are away from your desktop environment. That said, this app is NOT a full email client. It comes pretty close if you are composing outbound mail because it can hitch a ride on the outbound mail settings of your email client app and leave the message sent in that app’s Sent folder without having to get the mail app involved. But for decoding inbound encrypted messages it’s inherently cumbersome. You’ve got to open the message in your mail client then forward the encrypted part as an attachment to the PGP app — in my case I found that works best if I forward it via my Dropbox folder — and from there you decode it with your previously installed private key. I hope that over time the developers expand this app into a full mail client so that the extra handling steps on inbound messages become unnecessary, which would be a huge improvement for workflow. But for now it’s good enough to allow me to message securely without having to cart a laptop around all the time — for which I’m grateful.

Crash issues. The latest version of the app simply crashes when trying to view or decrypt files. The attempt of the developer to fix crash issues on older devices causes the app to crash on devices that previously used to work.

Works Great. I've been a supporter of PGP since donating money for Zimmerman's defense fund. The government went after him because he gave the public access to strong encryption technology. I've long tried to encourage people I know to make use of this technology. Even with all the press of celebrities having their email hacked, most people still don't get it. This program makes it easy to use on an iPhone and integrates well with my existing email accounts. Now we just need to spread the word.

Great app. Simple to use. Gets the job done. Thanks.

I Highly Recommend this App!. It is rare in the App Store to come across an app that wraps the clumsy Apple services into a slick, efficient, aesthetic package. I was sending PGP emails back and forth within minutes. The key recognition and management features make personal cryptography a breeze on your iOS devices. With more and more stories surfacing about corporate espionage from China and our US government trampling upon our 4th Amendment rights it makes sense for IT managers to arm their people with the right tools to secure communications. For individuals, you can be sure your private correspondence stays private.

Excellent app. Wonderfully full featured app, that is regularly maintained. Indispensable!

Works great!. Finally, something useful to decrypt encryption straight from email (share sheet). Indeed, the setup was a little clunky and confusing - like it'd be great if there's a way to import key file, so we don't need to copy paste every time - but once everything is setup, including face ID to unlock private key, then you're good to go.

Very good app!. App does a great job overall but it doesn’t work with attachments.

Needs better integration with Photos and other apps. Works extremely well for basic message encryption and signatures. Needs better integration with the rest of iOS, for example, need to be able to "open" a file from one app (such as Dropbox, Photos, etc) directly into ipgmail for encryption. Having to upload to Dropbox first is not only an unnecessary step, it is insecure. Update: Can now compose messages longer than one screenful but cannot use Copy/Paste once the text is below the bottom of the screen. An odd bug indeed. Keep trying. Fix that, and improve on integration with the rest of iOS (also suggested by another reviewer) and back to 5 stars.

This version is perfect!. Perfect! It's now a 5 star app. All features work great. All of the problems I had in the past have been fixed. This app just gets better and better. Previous review: I like the UI improvments. There is still a problem with files(pictures) being sent as encrypted attachments using iPGMail. I'm not sure it's the files size that is causing the problem or something else. When using Enigmail for Thunderbird on my PC, I get errors when trying to decrypt the attachment from iPGMail. Encrypted attachments I send to iPGMail from Enigmail for Thunderbird are decrypted with no problems. Previous review: Bumped it up to 4 stars. No longer deletes keys and reads incoming attachments properly. However, it is still not handling outgoing attachments right. Some work but most don't. When I try to decrypt them on my PC, the ones that don't work give me a message that they are not signed properly. Previous review: All my keys were deleted after the last update. Also, attachment aren't being handled correctly now. Past versions read attachments just fine. I'll give this app 5 stars once it starts working properly again.

Bugs bugs bugs. This all would be so good but too often the developer updates it and breaks it. So frustrating. I simply cannot rely on this app because one minute it works and the next update breaks it.

Crashes During Private Key Import. I was able to import four private keys successfully, but the app consistently crashed when I tried to import another of my private keys. Frustratingly, the developer’s web site also appears to be broken. I eventually found that removing some old signatures from the key allowed for successful importation.

Pretty Good App ;). Works overall. Has one minor bug where it won't prompt for the private key password until you switch away from the app to another app and then switch back. Only a pain during setup. Once your private keys are imported, tap them and enable Touch ID so you never have to enter password again.

provides clean solution to a problem. Hi, This software does what it's supposed to and that is all it needs to do. I like the UI and the feature set. I understand if some people have trouble with the setup as the documentation isn't very clear but it works out of the box. In my case there was a small hiccup. Do NOT import your own public keys. Just the private one (which includes the public) or you will get an error message. I tried to look it up and troubleshoot instead of asking the developer. Finally I caved (manhood bruised) and he got back to me within minutes. We exchanged some nice notes and got the issue solved. As mentioned on the site, there is a crash bug which has been fixed but needs to go through the Apple process, but they are still digesting their turkeys and have some backlog. Again good app, GREAT support. Look forward to more features even though I have no clue what they could be. With my hiccups usually a four star BUT with the superb tech support, no question a FIVE. If the developer helps within minutes and makes the application work while Apple checks his fix, what more do you want.?

One of the Better Ones. Looks like it still cannot handle subkeys for sign and encrypt operations. While it’s understandable that GnuPG implementation of subkey functionality are not within strict specs, app developer should probably not refer to it as being interoperable with GnuPG. I use subkeys for day-to-day operations, reserving my primary key for certification and admin tasks. IPGMail crashes when I try to enable TouchID for my private subkeys; it works fine if I copy-and-paste the password but it’d be a lot more convenient if I can use the security provided by the iPhone Keychain.

Works. Hope they continue to add features.. One really important feature I want to see is the he ability to copy text anywhere and by using the share option to decrypt data...

[update] thanks for the update 🤙. [update] working perfectly, I love it, keep it up 🤙

Long time coming, but finally everything works. I bough this app when many features were still not working... but I knew the developed was working on it, and my waiting paid off. This app now fully functions for encrypting, decrypting, using MIT server for looking up names, and most importantly using iTunes to be able to export private keys (public keys can be emailed) so you can have the same private key on an iphone, ipad, and your Mac. Interface is still a bit clunky which is why its 4 starts, but functionally it all works for sending PGP/iPG/GPG signed or encrypted emails. If the author keeps improving it, it will move to 5 stars.

Best so far for PGP. Of all the iPhone apps I’ve tested, this is the best one. The keychain can be edited via import (be sure to remove text outside of the markers) and it can encrypt and sign (take that, GPG4USB). Decryption displays verification immediately. The coding seems to be up to par with RFC 4880. Added bonus: The developer replied promptly to a request I made.

Nice. After working with the developer I discovered I was working with a corrupted file that would not work. All I can say is wow, easy peasy. My apologies and thanks. I was SURE it was an app problem. But it was my bad file. I'll go sit in the corner now

Excellent app, great support. iPGMail works great on both my iPhone and iPad 2. I'm very happy with it, and at a reasonable price! It took me a little while to get everything up and running on both devices, due to my having multiple keys, but once that was figured out, it works smoothly and reliably and is very useful for me. The interface is visually great, too, and the prompt, courteous support by the developer cannot be praised enough. A bit more documentation would be helpful. The app is well worth the price and a pleasure to use.

This is the PGP/GPG app to use. Worth every star.

Good app, full featured. The app is a full-featured one, and will allow you to setup PGP for the first time and create your own keys on the app. The other apps in the app store either don't offer this feature or cost a lot more money, so this is quite valuable on its own. The only complaint I have is that PGP in itself is a little difficult to understand and the app doesn't quite explain the process to those unfamiliar with PGP. There's no introduction or wizard when you open the app, so you have to go to the Private Key tab and tap New Key. However, the developer is quick to respond to support emails and the website has a good guide.

It works! Maybe you need a modern UI?. Glad that this app is in the IOS store.

Want a notepad. The app is great. It will be better if you can add a notepad to the decrypt page.

Worth the price. Just started using OpenPGP on my iMac and after reading an article on iPad - iPhone PGP apps, I decided to give this one a try. I did struggle a bit getting it set up but I did get it working fine once this was done. I had a question that was not covered in the support pages and the developer got back to me very quickly and answered my question. A real good sign and I appreciate his help. I would highly recommend this app and have told my friends and family about it.

Crashes easily, on many activities. Worked well with just one key, but as soon as I imported another, and tried to do anything else, app crashes (I am on most r cent update). Can't really use it at all, thus the low rating.

Symmetric encryption works. Very happy to find this, super cool!!

App crash. App crashed after I updated 3.5.8 then I tap the Files menu button on iOS 9

Feature RErequest. Program does what it states. Developer responds to emails. Why 3 stars? 1 major feature still missing. The ability to sign a users key. The PGP Web of Trust is what makes PGP one of the defacto public key technologies used. I went through the emailing process in PGP, received a plaintext unsigned message from the developer saying he's been thinking about it almost instantly. What? The guy writing a PGP application didn't use it to respond.. Zimmerman would not approve ;) if you were already thinking about it prior to my reach out a month ago, why am I still waiting to recommend your application to the public? Still awaiting a way to get keys signed through the app.

Decrypt Issue. Hey awesome app but I just need help on the pgp decrypt page I pressed the x button on the upper right hand corner by mistake and now I can’t decrypt any messages . Is there a way around this or to reset it please and thank you in advance

Great app, great support!. This app is an awesome, usable implementation of PGP/GPG. The interface is really nice, and it's actually somewhat easier for an encryption novice to use than any computer-based program i've seen (except maybe Enigmail, if they already use Thunderbird), thanks partly to the easy in-app key generation. This is also useful for encrypting notes without resorting to one of the many vault apps, none of which i really like. Just play around with it and you'll start loving it as much as i do. Also, I contacted the developer about a small problem I had, and got an email response about 90 seconds later. Not too shabby, right?

Has the features most important to me. I maintain a GnuPG encrypted file with important information which I share between my Linux and Windows systems. I want to be able to have access to that file anywhere, especially when I’m traveling, when I have my iPad or iPhone. IPGMail allowed me to copy over my encrypted file to both IOS devices along with my secret key file (which I deleted as soon as I imported it), and now I can decrypt and view the file anytime I need the information in it. Exactly what I needed! Previously I had been using OpenGP, but that is no longer available in the App Store and doesn’t work on IOS 12.

No secret decoder ring, this.. Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) was Phil Zimmerman's brainchild nearly twenty years ago. It is a pleasure to see (and use!) this implementation of the now-standard method for encrypting email. Technology being what it is, sometimes the unwashed masses like me just have to wait for the right guy to come along and make something simple enough to use. This is it. I've been playing with PGP since the mid-nineties in various forms but now I think I've found the app that will allow wide adoption. It's easy. Seriously, the hardest thing about this is remembering how to spell the name of the author. Great job, well worth the money.

Best PGP mail app!. I love this app! I’m old school and have been using PGP since version 2.6.x iPGMail rocks

This is clearly the best. It took a bit of work to get the keys in, I had to put in one key at a time through iTunes app section, but once they were in, I culd send email from the app. The app also lives in the share sheet so if someone sends a signed or encrypted, I and send the email from spoarrow to this app and have it verified and decypted. It would be amazing if Apple could to PGP on the native app, built in, but this is the next best thing. no more than 2 extra steps and it is quick.

Bad setting. Includes PGP version metadata line in messages even when that option is toggled off in settings, revealing iPhone usage for PGP, a bad OPSEC risk and social hazard online.

Do not waste your time on this garbage.. The most frustrating non functioning garbage I’ve ever used

App won’t open. I loved this app before I started experiencing bugs. Sometimes I’m unable to import a message or key and have to force close the app to get it to work. But now I can’t get the app to open at all very disappointing.

Very useful but could use a UX and UI upgrade. The app is very useful but lacks a decent UX and user interface. For example, I can't search keys or names or addresses to send an encrypted email to.

why renaming file after decryption. this app is good, but why it renames the file after it is decrypted?

Best thing for gnu pgp on the iPhone. Does not cost a bomb like some others. Is well supported and has nice integration to drop and and others for private key imports of you already have one. Also makes sending privates emails easy and uses the functionality of the default mail app for sending.

IOS8 integration well done. Works even easier now with excellent IOS8 integration. Can't say enough good things about this app.

works well. nice work

Look no further. This is one of my top two apps and has been for the past couple of years. I looked at various PGP apps and found they were either violently expensive or unnecessarily complex. Then I found iPGMail. It changed my whole workflow. I use it every day to send detailed notes and information to my Mac. Like everyone, I am concerned about security, and iPGMail makes it dead easy to incorporate it into daily life. Even better, the developer is continually updating the product and is open to suggestions for new features. PsiFi

Couldn't figure out. I was looking for a PGP app and figured if this can encrypt and decrypt emails I can import my key and encrypt and decrypt any body of text (being emails) but couldn't figure the app out at all. No idea even how the email side works or how I was supposed to import a key and view the encrypted text. Plus a crappy interface for a paid app. I'd probably pay double and get the other even better app for PGP email Tbh fam

Woeful. Contacts import doesn't work properly with a large contact list. Limited functionality. No real information on security measures used. Bad integration with mail app. Definitely not worth the money!

Pretty Good Program. Took about 10 minutyes to get up and running with my existing keys. Tested both encryption and decryptio, worked fine, although did require copy and paste for decryption. User interface could be more intuitive, but when you compare the price with the other email encryption apps - it's a bargain.

Refreshing keys. When trying to refresh the Facebook public key it eventually became apparent that you need to delete the old key before adding the new one. Key management is a bit clunky as there is little to say if the operation worked or failed.

Works Perfectly. It works without any glitches. Easy to use. Does what it says it does elegantly. Highly recommend this app for protecting your communications.

Crash!. Tried creating a 4096-bit private key and the app always crashed!

Great little app. After I explored the custom option for the SMTP settings, everything fell nicely into place. Despite the warning that these settings are 'experimental' the app now works to my entire satisfaction. It allows me to send signed and encrypted email text messages with any attachment I choose from Dropbox. The app is stable and reliable and formats the messages and attachments in a most convenient manner. It is quite compatible with my Enigmail add-on running in the Thunderbird email client on my Windows desktop. It took me some time to learn enough about PGP to utilise the app properly but all is now sweet. Great little app. I can now use my iPad for PGP emails instead of getting the laptop out.

Great app. Sound little PGP app. Works well. The UI is functional but a little old school - would be nice if it were updated. Other than that it's really easy to use. The "copy to clipboard" function is good for copying into chat programs etc :)

Best PGP app on the App Store !!. Once you get your head around this app it's really good ! Support up to sha512 . Simple interface . Got some really great advanced features built into which many of my desktop pgp clients don't even have.(eg. Feature to upload public keys to a key server) More I use it the more I like it !! It impressed me enough to leave a review on here and that's saying something . Highly recommended !! Definitely worth the $2!! Keep up the good work guys !!

A really good effort so far. Ipgmail looks like it is almost going to achieve what I am after however one glaring problem seems to be that only RSA algorithms are accepted. I am still testing but this app does seem very promising! I would love to assist in contributing if possible!

Encryption for the masses!. Does what it says, similar to openPGP, but it also supports keybase.io!

Fantastic message and file encryption app. A lot has been written about the lack of security on the iPad and iPhone. This app provides a great solution for those who want to send and receive PGP encrypted messages or files, or who want to be able to store PGP encrypted files on their iPad or iPhone. It works for PGP encrypted MS Word, Excel, PDF and TXT files. For those who travel a lot and want to be able to store documents securely on their mobile device, this is an ideal solution. It's also great because you can send and receive PGP encrypted emails over non-secured public WiFi hotspots. Customer service by the developers is outstanding. I sent a support request regarding an issue I had in a previous version, and received an email response in less than one hour. They stayed in contact with me until the issue was resolved, and released a new version within a few days thereafter. Very impressive!

Awesome. Love it. Perfect for OpenPGP on the go... Just have to test how secure the application is at protecting the Sec Key and if it is held encrypted in the application

Public Keys. I give it a 3. I would give it a five if it allowed pasting a public key into the keyring (as it once did).

Mail? Only sortof. This app does everything it says it does, but it is a fairly inelegant solution to email cryptography. It relies a lot on copy-pasting stuff between mail.app and it. Gets the job done for a cheap price, but it sets back the cause of email crypto by making it a way-too-many stepped process.

Needs work. Issues encountered so far: * searching keyserver fails if there is a space in the search field * trying to add a public key from a keyserver does nothing * app will only store RSA keys Functionality / UX is hampered by iOS limitations, but otherwise, seems to have potential.

Great app!. I agree with the earlier 5 star review. Simple to use. Great tool for encrypting files on DropBox. I now have access to encryption on all my devices.

Needs work. Without a way to import private keys this app is next to useless. If and when however they sort that problem out it would be a 5 star app!

Comfortable and all I need.. Although the interface isn't friendly to newcomers, this has been my goto PGP mobile encryption app. I always recommend to friends.

Best Value by far. I have not tested every app out there, but from the one app I have tested this is the best valued one by far

Secure mail. This app works great to secure messages. Would love to see 1password support to make entering my passphrase easier, but hey, it works!!

Doesn't work. Buggy. Can't get this to work.

Best Available - Keep Pushing. Excellent work, this is the pgp app to get. You may be surprised the number of users simply bypassing your email setup and using copy paste to encrypt from a note pad (can anyone recommend a good plain text note pad). I understand the clipboard supports this as an afterthought. I'd love to see you help those who won't you email but just your otherwise straightforward pgp encrypt/decrypt.

Good start to a potentially great piece of software. Allows the reading and sending of encrypted messages and files. For the technically inclined, is relatively painless to use. With a bit of hands on training even non-techies can be taught how to use it. Things that need to be fixed or should be added: Landscape keyboard is cumbersome. 4096 bit key creation. Ability to paste private key from clipboard - suspend while copying private key pass phrase from another app (Lastpass) and return to paste in paraphrase. - this works with pgp messages but not private keys. Make sure all files stored in app space stay encrypted for security. Native email send and receive Better user friendliness - I know this is difficult for PGP in general. Great app thus far, can't wait to see how it gets better.

Works great and you can manually add keys. You can manually add keys. Just connect it to your computer and you can drop keys into the app using iTunes. I use this for work and it does great.

Fantastic Appp!!! As good as it can get!!!. Fabulous !!!! Perfect and way more simple than the Windows version!! VERY VERY easy!!!! (Just make sure you make your secure key rign an "asc" file before you pass them to your iPad) Thank you

Learning crypto. Great option simple to use vs thunderbird and pgp mail or mailvalope I was up and running very fast- the import x port of keys could be improved but we'll worth the cost for what it does do.

Last update fixed my crashing. The update prior to this last one completely broke it for me. Good work! Back up to 5 stars. Please do keep on top of this...people who use this app REALLY need it to work, ya know? Thanks :)

Works Perfectly. I use LastPass. At first, I couldn't import the encrypted text via copy-clipboard and then exit the app to go to LastPass, copy my private key passphrase, and then come back in iPGMail and past the password. The reason was I had mistakenly only imported my public key and not my private key! Just follow the directions. It works beautifully!

Remarkably Solid!. Pros: The program is very solid and works as advertised. It encrypts and decrypts as expected and allows for easy lookup of public keys via keyserver. The developer is very responsive. I discovered a bug relating to a lesser-used GPG-specific feature that caused the app to crash; while it doesn't affect overall operation, it's refreshing to see a developer answer so quickly! The key interface is very detailed and provides a wealth of technical information about the keys. Cons: It has not been localized for the French language. Verdict: If PGP is your niche (and it should be in this day and age!) this is a good addition to your iDevice security repertoire.

It just works and has excellent support. This is a well written and supported app. Works and does what it is supposed to with no muss or fuss. Now does symmetric encryption as well. The developer answers bug reports same day or next day. Well written, good track record and has excellent support.

Very simple to use. If you don't have much experience with encrypted email, this is the app for you. When you start it up, you can create a key pair and store it. It took 5min to set up, and uses your iphone email client to send the message. Well done!

Awesome. Very good app! Not only that but Will actually responds to questions if you are having problems getting it set up. His customer service is second to none and is one of the best Devs I have ever dealt with! I wish you continued success and I will be trying your other apps as well. Thanks again!

This works.. This lets me keep encrypted documents in the cloud and refer to them on my phone. It's intuitive for an experienced PGP user, fast, one of my favorite apps. I've used it about 3 times weekly for many months and never had a problem. Just remember to delete the decrypted copy before closing the app or a lost phone becomes a potential security disaster.

The only PGP app for iPhone worth having. Forget the overpriced bloatware from Symantec. This has become the standard for which iPhone PGP apps aspire. Priced right, it does the job and continues to be improved upon by it's developer. Well done and very much worth the price.

Decent app, needs more features. After installing this, I had to restart my phone to get the Apple Mail integration to work right, but once I did it seems to work fine. I do get an error whenever I try to search a public key server, but it imports fine when I email myself a public key as an attachment. Wish there could be a way to import existing private keys tho.

Anti-light refracting device :). Useful and functional. Responsive developer. Actively being developed. Given recent news stories about privacy I suspect this app will be of interest to more people.

Nice, but not secure!. Generally a nice app with convenient interface, but it has a *serious* security flaw on the iPad (haven't checked iPhone). After decryption all text/documents are stored in the app's internal data storage space on the device. While it's true that a "casual" iPad user would not be able to access this folder, even a marginally motivated Eve that gains access to your iPad could compromising the file system and gain access to your decrypted data. There is simply no excuse for storing decrypted data rather than the original *encrypted* version. The latter should be stored and only decrypted "on-demand" as the user requests it. I can't recommend this app to anyone seriously interested in maintaining private communications on their iPad.

Very Useful. I use this app quite a bit: it's one of the few I could find that allow you to encrypt arbitrary files, including pasting from the clipboard. I use it to manage several encrypted files with things like SSNs for my family and passwords or password hints. It's nice to have all that confidential information on my iPad, but encrypted in a way that keeps it safe even if it's stolen. It's pretty simple, but it gets the job done and the creator is good about periodically updating and enhancing it.

No Complaints!. What can I say? So far it does what it says on the tin, if you will. since it works as advertised, I've got no complaints about it. Write, send, receive messages. Import, export, and create keys. manage your keyring. Sign and authenticate signatures. It works.

Very useful. This tool is great since you can securely send emails with text and pictures. The only change I would make would be to allow files and video. Currently only text and images are allowed. Honestly- this tool works really well.

Fills the PGP encryption gap on iOS superbly. I found iPGMail after trying a couple of other products that seemed to have issues and non-responsive developers. This one just worked for me. Well worth it by any measure. The PGP scene for iOS seems to be either really expensive alternatives, or those tied to Symantec services, or apps that don't quite work. This one is none of those, and that's good. Glad I stumbled across this one!

The gold standard for encryption. Anyone who is concerned about security and privacy should be using PGP, this version supports all current military grade encryption standards and adheres to OpenPGP. I encourage all new users to read up on PGP so you understand the best practises. The app is easy to use and configure, I'm also very impressed with the Dropbox integration so I can quickly access my secure documents.

The best PGP app I've tried. PGP and iOS still don't mix well, but this app makes checking encrypted email on the road possible, a huge help as I increasingly leave my laptop behind. Continued updates, particularly with the share ribbons, have made it relatively simple to pop back and forth when reading and decrypting mail, and at this point it's just about as intuitive as as the typical setup on a Mac.

Works fine for me. Installed GPG Tools on my Mac, and wanted something for my iOS devices. It does the job, and the price is right. I feel much better knowing I can use this if I want to. At this point, it's a matter of responsible, active citizenship to make sure you're proactive about privacy issues.

Couldn't find any problems. I imported my private key via Dropbox by following the iPGMail guide on the website. Then I imported an asc file from Dropbox, decrypted it, and read it in rtf format. Finally, I composed an asc encrypted email attachment and it was correctly sent using iPGMail default settings and a gmail account. It worked as expected. Thanks for a great app.

Ok for the price. With the ability to encrypt to multiple recipients in the latest release, working from an i device is much more efficient. There are still some issues verifying and writing signatures between iPGMail and PGP Desktop. The only other draw back is that this cannot open an attachment that was attached to an encrypted message.

Easy yet effective app to secure email!. I have been using this app since it came out. The updates keep making it better and easier. The developer is one guy who actually listens when you find a bug and does something about it - with service. Easy way to keep emails secure - and for a tiny price compared to huge companies' programs! Thanks.

Easy to use. The interface is very user-friendly. App is highly secure and was quite intuitive. The price is fair and the updates very regular. My whole company will be purchasing this app!

PGP functionality. This is a good implementation of PGP for iphone. For people who want real secure communication and do not trust any nodes between the iphone and the other party. No intermediate servers, such as SMTP or IMAP are able to read the messages.

Works well as advertised.. After little configuration I was able to send and receive encrypted email. Not quite as seamless as on a MAC but still excellent!

Easy to use and just works.. Been using it for months now and it works great. As good as it gets in companion apps (you copy message to clipboard or send through the default mail)

Only app available. Been using this for 6 months now and am happy that many features have been added that make reading encrypted emails on my phone just as easy and safe as w my desktop.

Excellent PGP solution. Was very easy to get up and running to use on iphone when away from Thunderbird/Enigmail. Definitely better to setup SMTP manually, messages come through perfectly. It's obviously not as simple as an all-in-one client like on the desktop but great to know I won't get stuck on the iphone with the inability to have a solution that works.

Great PGP app from a responsive developer!. This is a well-designed app that tightly integrates with native iPhone Mail, or can be used via the clipboard. Enter text in the app, choose the destination key/email address, tap Send Email and it just works! Receiving is equally easy for both in-line encrypted text and attached files. Or, use the clipboard for general purpose text encryption/decryption. Existing pub and secret keys can be imported, and new keys can be created within the app. This is exactly what I would have asked for, if someone had asked me what I wanted! When under-an-hour response from the developer to user questions is factored in, it's the best $1.99 i've spent in the App Store.

App works and developer responds. This app works as advertised. And here's what's amazing: When you encounter a problem, like I did, the developer responds quickly. In my case, we went through a number of tests, and when he found that there was a bug he fixed it in just a few days. If you need basic encryption and decryption, you cannot go wrong with this app, and if you encounter a problem, the developer responds. Worth every penny.

Definitely worth it. iOS is not allow you to build encryption and decryption and the mail app. Given the limitations of iOS this is the best option available. And it works very very well.

Easy crypto. This app makes using public key cryptography really easy. It streamlines the process a great deal. The app uses RSA as its encryption algorithm. It uses either a 1024 or 2048 bit key. In addition to creating keys, signing, encrypting, verifying and decrypting messages. You also have the option to do searches public key registries. Overall it is a fantastic app & would recommend it to anyone who is security conscious.

Worth the price and then some.. The only usable PGP encryption program currently available at a reasonable price for iPhone. While it could use a few tweaks here and there, it does shat it's supposed to do. No buyers remorse here. Better with each update.

Works well but design is lacking. The app could really use a facelift to have a better design. Took me a while to import the private key but finally was able to do so. Everything else appears to work as expected though the login is a bit buggy as I had instances where the TouchID would go through but not unlock the app and had to force quit.

Good app, great developer!. I've been using this app for a while now and I have to say for the price there is nothing better. Super easy to use for reading, but could use a little more functionality for sending. I think it's more related to the openness of the mail app, but hopefully Apple allows for greater integration in the future.

Great app, but has bugs and limitations. This app is awesome for the price point. It supports importing keys larger then it can create which is good, since I use the gpg key app for my MacBook and being able to export my 4k private key is great. However, this app has it share of issues. For one, it does not support making keys larger then 2k. In addition, the "Enable App pin protection" does not work. Every time I create a pin it only gives me errors. Besides that, the app is great!

Does everything I need it to do!. This app is really stable, secure, and full of the features I use with PGP. The app seems really well made and even still developers are active with this app releasing updates on occasion for bug fixes and improvements.(again I have not experienced many bugs if any.) overall worth the money I paid for this app to be able to encrypt and decrypt messages on my iPhone! Thank you!

Great App. This is the best pgp app on iOS. While a little cumbersome to use, it allows you to encrypt both messages and attachments which can either be sent out via the app, or copied to the clipboard and sent out using the iPhone mail app or other mail tool.

Outstanding!!!. I've been using encryption more and more recently. This app works perfectly on the iPhone and iPad and does exactly what it says it does. Keep up the great work!

Compliments GPGmail for the Mac, but.... It works ok, and it supports the same encryption key servers and keys that PGP and GPGmail do, but you have to enter your long private key password EVERY SINGLE TIME you send or receive or reopen a message. You have to send incoming messages from your iPad's mail app to IPGmail to read them. Whereas using GPGmail on the mac just works so much easier. If it was as smooth and transparent as GPGmail, and worked seamlessly within the iPad's mail app, I'd give it 5 stars.

Great app, great support!. I bought this app today, had a minor issue (didn't know how to send encrypted content to the clipboard INSTEAD OF in an email), reached out to the developer on Twitter. IMMEDIATELY got a message back which helped me overcome my issue. Have tested the app multiple ways in round trip data through iPhone, iPad, and a windows work system. Now I can securely transfer information through email, dropbox, and other cloud based text systems.

Nice app!. It works very well, both in decrypting incoming email and in composing and encrypting messages sent through iOS mail. Locally stored messages are still saved in decrypted format, however. This I don't like. But the app works very well otherwise.

Finally!!. Been using PGP since the end of the 90's. Finally there's an easy to use way to have PGP on your phone and tablet. Using this is simple and easy. Very well integrated with the iOS mail app. Hopefully the masses will finally start using PGP - aps like this will help.

PGP. If your familiar with PGP, then this product is definitely for you. Don't know about the more expensive one. But can vouch that this one works just as good. Sad part is in post snowden era, I still have no one to really use this with. But oh well, not really that serious anyway. Highly recommended.

Great for PGP encrypted emails. Now I need more friends that use PGP! This app works As expected. It was easy to import my private key (or I could have created a new key easily). I can also download publics keys very easily. The app didn't crash and worked smoothly on my 4S. I definitely recommend this app for someone looking for a working PGP app on iOS.

The best PGP solution available for iOS.. This is a fantastic app that does exactly what it says. It's easy to use and works extremely well. I highly recommend this if you are looking for PGP on iOS.
