Inaccurate GPS tracking. The social aspect of the biking got me to use this instead of MapMyRide. I love the badges and how motivational it is to beat your PRs and place in the top 10s. However, this thing is SEVERELY glitched. Granted, I’m using an iPhone and I keep it in my under saddle zip bag (could affect tracking?), but the times are heinously inaccurate. They have guys getting .03 seconds for a trail segment that’s 1/4 mile long, IN THE WOODS, on single track between trees. This isn’t even paved, and it’s physically impossible for a human to get those times, or even finish it in .10s for that matter. There are multiple people logging these ridiculous times. It’s important for me to know how I’m actually doing relative to the truth rather than fictional, glitched data. Completely deflates me when I put in maximum effort, easily clock under .30s on a trail segment and it reads 1:54!? I know I’m in the woods, but it’s absurd that in 2019 this data can’t be tracked with the utmost accuracy through some tree cover on a perfectly clear day. The features are really fun, but if the data can’t be trusted, this app is no better than a calorie counter.

Mileage wildly inaccurate. I’ve been using Strava for several months now and the mileage is wildly inaccurate. I submitted a number of reports on the app indicating the mileage is wrong but as of yet nothing has improved. Routes that I know are 4 miles long consistently come in at 3.5 and randomly sometimes will reach 4. I could understand some differential run to run but not that much. I’ve noticed that the app often doesn’t start tracking my run until I’m well into it. Recently I’ve been double checking to make sure that it says gps acquired before starting my run and even waiting a couple of seconds after hitting start to begin...still nothing. It’s really frustrating to have chunks of mileage taken off. Clearly the algorithms know there’s a problem because during my run the automated time announcement will say one time and when I finish the app has somehow adjusted it to a different time. I don’t get how the time adjusts but not the mileage. I may consider returning to MapMyRun since I experienced fewer issues.

Needs a lot of work.. I’ve been using Strava for a little over a year and was happy with the app until I tried to start the summit “free trial”. I clicked on it just to try it out and see if I liked it after all it was a free 30 day trial. I tried to use it and nothing worked that said it came with the trial. So I went back and tried again to see if maybe it for some reason didn’t register the free trail. It said I was already subscribed the free trial. so I went back and tried selecting one of the analysts that it said the free trial came with, and loan behold nothing brought me back to what I thought was the free trail page but so I selected it again and then went through and it worked. and a couple minutes went by I checked my bank account and then I saw I had a purchase for apple store for the “free trial” that I signed up for!?!! So I went into my subscriptions on my phone and there was two subscriptions for Strava one for the free trial that didn’t work and one for the one I got charged for... not happy with the app anymore its a rip off and a scam.

Slap in the face to long time users. Extremely disappointed with the most recent update that puts subscriptions at the center of their business model. I understand the need to stay current and keep up with user demand which has exploded in recent months. My issue is about long time users such as myself (member since March 2013) who opted in to giving Strava our data for free in order to develop better cycling infrastructure and freely share safe routes with new users. Routes never became freely accessible, they were instantly subscription only. That stung but I accepted it. Now with the newest update we can no longer compare our segment stats with friends on Strava, besides the standard top ten, all comparisons are subscription only. This was one of my favorite features, I love seeing how I stack up against friends and it was a great selling point for me to get friends to use Strava. I have a suggestion, as unfortunate as it is, for new users this is just how it will be. However, for long time users it might be fair to let us keep our free features that made us love Strava. You gave us an incredible app that motivates and challenges a lot of people and it’s a wonderful service. I thank you for that, now please return some of the basics that we all know and love.

Steals your money. Horrible company to work with. Signed up to try the app after it had been recommended to me. It informed me that I would need to cancel before x date in order to not be charged for the subscription. As that date approached I tried canceling me free trial but it didn’t seem to be working. I googled how to cancel the “automatic renewal” but the instructions were not clear. Anyway I couldn’t figure out how to cancel it. I tried finding a number to call for help - no number. Only an online “help” submission form. I filled it out two separate times and got no response either time. I told them specifically that I wanted to cancel before I was charged and to please help me. No response. Today I was charged the $64 for the subscription that I did not want. I have tried submitting the form for a third time and still haven’t heard anything back. Absolutely horrible customer service and really not happy with their lack of support. Now more than ever, when people are struggling financially and using exercise as a form of release, I’m really disappointed with the way this company operates. Would not recommend them to anyone.

Lagging data. I’ve been using this app for a couple years now. Haven’t had one issue...until now. My last two runs it doesn’t connect to satellite perhaps? I don’t know, but it sure doesn’t take me 34 minutes to run 1 mile and I’m not running through fields. The GPS is all jacked up and its really frustrating. Good thing I have a Garmin for back up. Maybe fix the problem before I give up on the app. **UPDATE** It’s been over 6 months since I wrote this review. Shortly after I wrote it I linked my Garmin to Strava and solely began using Garmin to track my runs, because I couldn’t rely on Strava to do it. A couple weeks ago I went out of town and forgot my Garmin. I thought I’d try Strava to track my long run that week and see if the issues had been fixed. Unfortunately, it did the same thing. Somewhere it loses me, and my run that I know from past experience is almost 8 miles, clocked in under 6. So disappointing. I don’t understand why it suddenly changed at the beginning of the year. But I sure wish you guys could fix it. I know several people who have this same issue, so I know it’s not just me or my phone.

Apple Watch Series 3. I’ve used Strava for many years, I’ve been running for about 9 years now and I always use it to train for my races. I love the social aspect and I’ve never had an issue with the GPS when using my phone. I recently got an Apple Watch series 3, the main purpose being for exercise. I wanted to ditch the heavy phone and run with something lighter. I also was excited about moving to Bluetooth headphones to avoid the phone/cord situation and the hands free aspect was really appealing. Not to mention the Apple Watch also tracks heart rate and other things that my iPhone didn’t do. However, I’ve been really disappointed in the connection between my Apple Watch and Strava. My runs are totally off, it often gets the distances wrong, misses huge chunks of my runs, and records my runs as if I had gone way faster. I thought that this was a flaw in the watch but I have friends who have tried other apps with success. I also thought this was a matter of having the data plan, but I switched over to the one with data and I’m still having issues. I would love to see them make improvement in this realm. I’m so excited about the convenience of my watch and I want to keep using Strava, so I’m hoping to see some upgrades soon!

New Update - May 20, 2020. Very disappointed to see the focus of Strava move from a community based fitness app to a profit driven cash grab. Maybe I’m being a bit dramatic here but the reality is I don’t have money kicking around for a Strava subscription. I accept that there are going to be aspects of the app that I won’t have access to, however I would maintain that to this point the [free] app was of 5 star quality and a must have workout tracker. After the update is an entirely different story, however. The free app has been stripped to the bare bones, no more access to segment leaderboards...I can’t even view my own previous times on segments. Honestly I leave a 3 star rating because I have loved using Strava for the past few years, in reality I should really leave a 1 star review. If you are able to afford the cost of a subscription to Strava, then by all means, it is a great app that is a fun and useful tool for tracking your workouts...BUT, I would not personally recommend the app as it currently stands unless you don’t have any other option available.

This app could be great with tweaking. I’m overall disappointed because the ride, walk, and run activities only sync from my watch about fifty percent of the time. The rest of the times I tap ‘save’ after I ‘finished and they disappear forever. No recorded information to be restored. Ever. I also don’t like that you can not record specific water sports (like kayaking, swimming, windsurfing) without having your phone on you. For me this defeats the purpose of using the watch app. These sports seem to be ones you would very likely rather leave your phone behind. If you begin an activity in your phone (not the watch) it does not communicate with the watch and gayer any heart rate information, which for me is the primary reason I bought the app to begin with. And finally, when you do receive recorded analysis of a workout you can’t go in and pinpoint exact moments on a graph of your heart rate information, it would be nice to have a chart that you can scroll the exact plot points. It could be good, but as it stands I won’t be renewing.

Excellent fitness tracker. When at the age of about 55 I started a more serious fitness regimen I looked at the available apps and chose map my walk. I used it for about 3 years, and over the course of time it just became too needy, and required to much of my time to maintain it. I had sort of become aware of Strava, but I thought it was more for bicycling and really serious athletes. Anyway I decided to give it a go and have never looked back. It gives me all the data I need, and has been 100% reliable. I like the way it finds and keeps track of routes I regularly complete, and finds ways to give me badges for accomplishments on days I don’t expect it. It’s helped me log over 100 miles a month for the last 4 months. I have considered upgrading to the paid version but I really don’t like subscriptions. I would consider paying a onetime upgrade for a few more features.

Heart Rate On Watch & Phone. I love using Strava while running and biking but I have found, like many other users, that the heart rate tracking feature is not all its cut out to be. The functionality and user experience isn’t right. If I open the phone app to start recording a workout the watch app should also turn on and mirror what is on my phone and vise versa. Currently if you have to start a workout separately on both devices to get them to both give you information while you are on a ride or run. The heart rate will only track on the watch. But then I will have two duplicate workouts. This seems like is should be table stakes by now as other apps like Nike running already do this correctly. It’s become very frustrating that I cannot see my workout on my watch and phone real time without having to record it twice. Please work on fixing this.

Autopause doesn’t work for hikes or walks. If autopause is on, it immediately pauses if I’m walking. That means I have to disable autopause if I’m tracking a hike or run/walk/run type training, so I’m always having to go back into the settings and switch it back and forth. I’ve lost tracking on parts of my routes because of this. I don’t understand why autopause isn’t sensitive enough to track walking/stopping. Other apps seem to handle this just fine. Units and splits: why does the display only show tenths of miles and not hundredths? Maybe since this started as a biking app, 1/10 of a mile made sense, but as a runner I think more in terms of 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 mile distances for pace training. I am unable to do this on strava because it doesn’t display the data (that it is already gathering), and because there is no way to select a different option for audio feedback frequency (like every 1/4 mile). So, there are many things to like about the app, but the bottom line is that it has limited usefulness and versatility for training.

Needs work. I tried Strava a few years ago and didn’t love it. I’ve used several running apps over the years. The one I have used consistently over the last 4 years has been Runkeeper. I have a few friends on Strava and I thought I’d try it again because I like the social aspect of sharing with friends. Strava has a lot of nice data and it seems that their paid service revolves more around training plans rather than focused on just giving you more data. This makes sense to me. I really want to like this app! I use an Apple Watch but also carry my phone. The watch app starts up pretty fast so that’s a plus. My main issues with Strava is that I have to go to the website in order to add my shoes so I can track the mileage. This seems silly. I can’t find a reason for it. I don’t want extra steps to get the app set up I also have a big issue with the app not showing me two decimal places for mileage. This is beyond silly. It’s just dumb. Runner like stats. We don’t want to have to log on to the website to get info that should be available on the app. Isn’t the entire point of an application to be self contained? The app is good but be aware that setup will take you 10 extra minutes and that viewing stats will be something that you will have to set aside time to do AFTER your run.

Latest iwatch 3 update. Previous version worked well for running if auto-pause was disabled because the watch would pause if you looked at the screen while running. I thought that was fixed with latest update because the timer keeps going. I tried to run four miles two different days and I begin looking at my screen a lot at 3.8. The timer kept going but the distance was stuck on 3.8. I finally stopped looking at the screen at hit 4.0 eventually. This has happened last two runs and kills my average speed and try distance. I’m pretty sure the app stops counting miles when the screen is active. I don’t know if this is related to auto-pause or not. I’ve turned auto pause off and don’t look at the screen anymore. The app is definitely buggy. Strava creates a great social network that is the standard for cycling, but stick with Your Garmin and then upload. Not sure why it’s taking this long to build a stable watch app. I never had problems with the phone app.

Track Your Fitness. I have been using Strava since it came out. For years I only used it for cycling then later I linked my Peloton. A couple of years ago I had a back injury and wanted to track my fitness during rehab. Initially I could barely walk. When I did walk I added the walks to Strava. I was able to track how I was progressing. I moved through rehab I was adding all Strava and my strength workouts to my Google Calendar. One day I went through all the activities you can track on Strava and saw workouts. I added them every time I went to the gym, did core or went on a hike. My last step was wearing my Galaxy 4 watch during my workouts so I could track my heart rate while cross training. Now I have a record of all my fitness activities in one place. My wife said, “Next thing you are going to want to track is your heart rate and time having sex!” Hmmmm………..Naw, doing the “horizontal mambo” is not a Strava activity but I guess I could just log it under “workout”….😜! Anyway… I am a 62 year old athlete. At my age, if you don’t use it you definitely lose it! I need a record to see if I am back sliding with my fitness program. Now, when I hit my yearly physical and my doctor asks what I have been doing to stay fit I show him my Strava activity log. He’s like , “DAAAMN!!!” Anyway….LOVE MY STRAVA!

Functionality is going downhill, not that strava can measure it. Okay so this is a bit of a rage review. I've been using strava pretty dilligently for about 2 years. It's been mostly great, showing timed splits and elevation gain to give a good granular sense of what happened during a workout. It's really all I wanted, since I don't intend on getting heart rate monitor. However, lately strava has been goofing up on time elapsed, distance gone, maybe my actual location? Not sure. But it'll take a good half-mile for the app to figure out that I've started moving, even after manually starting a workout and confirming that my location is correct. It will also just stop registering that I'm still moving in the middle of a workout, paradoxically showing my location way off of the blue line while the timer is still running. This throws off all the calculations for timing and honestly is pretty disheartening that I don't have an accurate record of my efforts. I know strava gets is revenue from user data, but why am I using this broken app if it isn't even giving me the data it has advertised? How reliable is the background data being collected? At this point, I might as well go back to using the timer and maps apps built in to iOS, since I'm already using them to figure out what strava did wrong in the first place.

Buggy/Limited Gear Tracking. Downloaded Strava primarily to track mileage on gear since MapMyRun discontinued this app/feature. Strava fails to save my selection for mileage alert… I keep trying to select my preferred mileage alert (for a pair of runners, for example) and save it… but every time I go back in to look at the gear via “edit item” it either shows a completely random number (that I never selected) or fails to show a mileage alert? I feel this feature has been falsely advertised if you download the app to find you cannot even use it appropriately. I am pretty loyal to MapMyRun as it has my entire history logged plus it syncs to MyFitnessPal… I’d rather not have to download an additional app (like “GearTracking”) just to keep track of my shoe mileage… I liked that Strava works like MapMyRun (without media limits) combined with GearTracking… but I’m annoyed the gear tracking is acting buggy and doesn’t offer as much as the GearTracking app (ie consideration of prior mileage, pie chart progress graph on gear mileage, etc.) Not sure if I will continue using Strava as a result? Minus 1 star for a buggy gear tracking performance which is what I came to Strava for.

Hard to use. Constant ads to upgrade.. A lot of my riding buddies use it and have asked me to install it. I just want something for free and can track my rides with elevation profiles and speed. Strava seems to do that and a lot more, especially ads that keeps hounding you to upgrade to the premium version. Cool thing is that it can record your movements with GPS and can be set up with privacy in mind. Here are a bunch of thing that bug me about this app: 1) the Feed is kind of confusing sometimes. It takes sometime to get use to on what is what, especially the stupid ads are mixed in. 2) the header part of the app where you have links or buttons. They're hard to press and a lot of the times, the don't work. A good example is the bell on the Feed. You have to press it numerous times or just let your thumb sit there for a few seconds to get you to a notification screen. 3) settings and other setups require so many steps to set up the app or to start a recording process. I wish there's a non-paid app without any advertisements that can give you GPS tracking on a map with speed and elevation without all the bloated crap that comes with Strava. To bad there's none out there at the moment.

Useless. 2 MAJOR problems with this app - first when using the app with my Apple Watch it shows my distance only to the 1/10 mile instead of to the 1/100th. Really?? How does any runner find that acceptable?? Makes the app completely useless for any kind of interval training that does not involve a track. Second, it shows my average pace. I couldn’t care less about my average pace. Most runners I know what to see their CURRENT pace! I don’t see any way to change that. Other more minor problems - 1) when it registers my splits and I want to glance quickly at my time, this app has to show me the stupid Strava logo for a second before it shows me my time. So annoying! I’m often trail running and need to pay attention to my footing so I don’t step in a hole or trip on a root. So having to keep my eyes on my watch for that extra second could actually be a problem. 2.) the walk setting only shows mph. Why would I want to know that?? I want minutes/mile just like for running. 3.) No splits for walking?? Just because I’m walking, Strava thinks I don’t care about my mile splits? Like I said, to me this is a useless training app. Back to the basic Activity app on the Apple Watch for me!

Non-responsive customer service.. The app works well for tacking your workouts, but I accidentally signed up for the premium service. I had put the phone in my pocket while loading a ride. When I looked at it was asking for my fingerprint. Thought it was locked and I would just go ahead and open it. But instead I guess I pocket requested the premium service and my fingerprint was accepting the charge. The bill rang on my phone immediately and then I realized my error. I notified Strava within 5 minutes and twice more the next two days. I finally got a response saying they have consolidated my 3 tickets into one. All they have said is they are working hard to get to my request as soon as possible. It has now been over a week and nothing new. It is getting to late to cancel the CC payment. Can Apple help?

Not Greatest App anymore and your timing stinks!. Strava was the best tracking app for the past 5-6 year until someone decide that it was a good idea to take all the functions away for the loyal “not premium users”, this is Lame. On top of this you removed all subscriptions tiers??? I guess my thought is if you intended to make the best app ever with all the free options, only to make this subscription only after 6 years, why not just start the app as pay subscription. Oh I know because you would have never grown to millions of users! You thought a better strategy was millions of users world wide love your so much that when you decide its time to collect for your app the users will be so hooked they will be leveraged into paying to keep there same level of enjoyment with their friends, good call. Anyway as stated above just really disappointed with the strategy and execution, especially now when we can’t ride with our friends but we could at least share the joy of a ride. Hope you right the wrong!

Best gps app for the outdoor inclined. Best app for tracking your walk, run, ride, kayak, backcountry skin tour. The amount of sports that it has and the data generated is bar none the best. I also use trail forks as this doesn’t really have a map option of known trails like Trailforks or all trails but the free version gives you insights those other aforementioned apps do not and the paid version(subscription based) has a few more features(always coming out with more) that I found quite interesting and slightly more insightful. Also for those solo shredders, walker, hikers, and anyone using the app, the community based competition is also very inviting and allows you to ouch yourself against other people and against the clock. This allows you to use this also as a training aid and or just to see how your personal fitness stacks up from year to year, week to week, day to day. I love this app and find myself using it everyday. Stay stoked and I highly recommend it!!🤘🤙

Great Mertric Tracking. Strava is a great app to track your fitness and with a little more TLC can be amazing. Has accurate GPS and good integration with other apps. The challenges allow you to push yourself and set goals to achieve and compete with friends. I transferred to Strava from Adidas Run app due to its integrations however there are a few things I miss that I wish Strava had. 1. Importing your GPSX data is a tedious and manual process that restricts you to 100 uploads a day, it took me 5 days to import all my runs from previous years 2. Using the Apple Watch app, the audio cues for runs do not emit to your headphones, you have to make sure your headphones are connected to both your phone and your watch if you are listening to music with your phone 3. Even though Apple Watch can track cadence the strava app does not, so it’s a missing dataset. There are hacks I’ve found to work around this, but not without using a third party app. 4. One of the biggest things is custom trainings. You could set your own training sessions up so that you can do 30 second sprints and 1 min rest on repeat with audio cues. Instead I have to keep track of my miles or time to know when to do the next stage of my workout. I would love if these were integrated and would make the app an incredible experience for training.

Needs better watch options for sports other than cycling and running.. 4 stars for the phone app - has tracking for many activities. 2 stars for the watch app - should mirror tracking options of the main app. It is frustrating that the watch app does not offer the same tracking options as the phone app. The watch has options for bike rides, runs, & hikes, but pretty much every other activity is excluded from the watch app. Everything else is generically lumped into the “workout” option, which has no way to track speed or distance. This means that if you want to track anything other than heart rate and workout time for an activity that isn’t a run or bike ride using your watch, you will have to bring your phone to do so. 😕 This is disappointing since this is one of the few apps that will track roller (inline) skating. Also, there should be some way to integrate the heart rate features from the watch into the phone app, which apparently only works with third party heart monitors.

Recent update 👎. I’ve used this app for well over 2 years and loved it. It’s the most efficient and integrated running/fitness app I’ve ever used. Prior to this update I would have this app at 5 stars without question. That being said, the new update removes so many of the features that makes Strava great. If you are willing to cough up 60 dollars a year, you can still have access to all of the old features (segments, leaderboards, monthly stats tracking, etc...) as well as a few added features such as goal setting. However, Strava just removed access to these aforementioned features if you are a non paying user. I understand the developers need money, however, these community features are what set Strava apart from other running apps. The app is still great for tracking runs and staying connected with friends, but it’s lost a large part of its appeal with this most recent update.

Don’t purchase the app. It’s too late for me but don’t purchase the app. For free it’s fine but $60/ yr isn’t worth it. It took over 2 months to get a response on a support ticket I placed - and that was after having to replace the ticket because they closed the first one without even working it. I get plenty of use out of the app but I’ve paid significantly less for apps that work better. The app is glitchy when actually trying to record workouts. I hardly actually use the app anymore due to this and have had to purchase accessories from Garmin and Wahoo to get accurate workout recordings that just upload to Strava. I guess its nice to have all my workouts & photos in one place. They shifted around the UX recently for training goals and it’s just never been the same after that. I like the data visualizations but it’s really after quantity which isn’t always the best indicator. It’s still a pretty immature training plan and there are better ones out there. This is really just becoming social media for athletes.

Charged unknowingly, bad customer service. Given this is a COVID era, I was quarantined and encouraged my my friends to get the app. It was good and all but I used it 4-5 times in two months. If I were a triathlete, I’d probably have gotten more use. The problem is I am an unemployed student and need every penny to make it right now. My credit card showed up with 2 declined payments one night and as soon as I made some money from selling art I was charged $60 for “summit”. My account still is listed as free, I did NOT ask for Summit (or was unaware) and their customer service is completely dehumanized to try to answer your questions with links. There’s no number, only tickets that are listed as “solved” when no one did anything. I seriously need to get reimbursed, like this is a financially unfortunate situation where $60 is all I have, and Strava all of a sudden is a name that fills me with anger because it feels like $60 was stolen from my wallet when that’s all I had. I wish they would be more prompt with customer service and more up front with cost if $60 is really what it costs. But even then - my account says “free.” Strava, PLEASE get back to me and give me a refund.

Awesome but some problems. I love this app because as a beginner runner it’s helped me figure out my stats and all that important stuff so I can see areas I need to fix on. But there is one minor issue, I have been using this app for over a year and it’s been perfect for me but just recently over the summer I have noticed some issues with how the app tracks. It will record everywhere I’ve ran in one run but it won’t actually start timing it or start the distance tracker until i’m more than half a mile in. Which is a very big inconvenience because when it doesn’t track my distance for a little while it effects my time which then effects my pace messing the whole run up and making it look like I did bad. Therefore I don’t actually know how far I ran or what my pace was or what amount of time I did it in. So then i’m not sure how well I did on the run or where I need to improve on. So I just wish they could fix that problem before I decided to go and buy an apple watch and be done with this app.

No Sensors?. Been using Map My Ride for a long time now and am a paid subscriber. MMR works well and connects to my speed, heart rate, and cadence meter so easily. But the app is a lil - ugly. It also is geared more towards runners. So I thought I’d try out Strava and see why all the fuss is about - I signed up for the 30 day summit trial and everything looks - well - amazing. Keeps track of the miles I put on my bike and a myriad other brilliant things. Guess what though? No Bluetooth sensor connection - none. You need other supported devices to do that THEN upload that data to your Strava account. Guys, guys, nope. I’m going to cancel my 30 day free subscription. I’ll keep my dumbed down free account for now but won’t actually use the app for recording rides. If the Bluetooth sensor availability is changed I will definitely be forking out the $2 a month for the analysis pack. Until then - forget about it.

Wonky integration with Apple Health. I suspect the fault for this lies in iOS, but cycling distance received by Apple Health from Strava is often truncated. For example, yesterday’s little neighborhood ride of 15.2 miles initially appeared in Apple Health as being 10.2 miles, which is probably where I paused for a long telephone conversation. Today, that same ride shows up in the Health App as being approximately 13.1 miles, and Apple shows it segmented hour by hour. One day earlier, a 9 mile climb of 1650 feet, followed by a short pause, then a 1.5 mile cruise along the shore of the alpine reservoir, then another pause at the end of the pavement to share our trophies (delicious cookies), then a downhill rush ended up segmented into 3 adjacent hours with the total distance recorded in Apple Health about 1.5 miles less than recorded by Strava. Strava’s data source for this information is NOT the Apple Phone’s or Apple watch’s GPS (I wear each), but my Garmin Edge 1030, which exports to the Strava app on my Apple iOS and macOS devices. I know that Strava doesn’t reveal the precise start and endpoints of activities beginning at my home address, but that’s not the issue here.

Subscription issue solution. My husband & I share my Apple ID for a number of things. We both downloaded Strava but I am the one who actually uses it. I decided to pay for the subscription, but when I clicked to subscribe (from my phone, within my Strava app), the subscription got credited to him. I tried to contact support but didn’t receive a response. After a few days I decided to try & delete my husbands account to see if that would free up the subscription. This worked. I was then able to hit “restore purchase” from my account. For the people who are frustrated with the cost, this is a complex application. If a product is free you are the product…. The price you pay is the freedom of not having your data sold, and having an ad free app that runs smoothly. The reason I gave it 4 stars was because I felt for the price it would’ve made sense to actually get a response from customer support.

Really Charging for what others give free?. On your press release you say that this charge is you putting all of your faith in your customers buying your service when your service is nothing without any of data provided by anyone who uploads freely theirs and keep a record for their own reasons. Why don’t you STRAVA put your thoughts into selling to companies and make this ADVERTISING BASED to cash your earnings. From all my colleagues, friends, friends of a friend and athlete’s that I’ve ran into by still social distancing, they all said are not buying and or finding something else to study or just look at what they has just did. That being a minute or a mile or a single km or a 200 km’s. And just like the review I just read before this... really in the middle of a pandemic, unemployment and chaos worldwide? That’s not so smart. You can bet all your earnings that if you don’t either bring back like it was before this premium price or you sell this Strava company... it will be still here but at a declining rate of paid subscribers.

So, so for SUP. I wanted an app that can track my activity when I go stand up paddling. I tried a few that claimed to be specifically for SUP, but they were all mediocre. Strava is pricey but it seemed to have the best features. And it lets me choose SUP as activity. However, considering the price of the subscription I had expected a product better integrated with Apple Watch and with less idiosyncrasies. - My runs often ‘skip’ large sections. Strangely, this reduces the recorded distance but increases the recorded speed. - Activities/exercises on the phone do not count against the rings on the watch (I have a fitness app that does this, so I know it’s possible) - The watch app does NOT have SUP as activity. Why, oh, why not? Why would the list on the watch have fewer than the phone? If the list needs to be short on the watch, then at least make one of them customizable to my activity of choice. - When I use the watch and record it as ‘outdoor run’ it counts against the ‘activity’ ring, not against the ‘exercise’ ring. Makes no sense. - When I record my run both on the watch and phone simultaneously, the times and distance are considerably different. - The way a ‘run’ is recorded is different depending on the sport. Why can’t I customize it? - Updating activities or the training logs on the phone is suuuper sloowww. Sometimes the training log is days behind. I guess one-eye is king in the land of the blind.

Has ALMOST every thing I want but.... Seriously, Strava you have just about every conceivable feature and aspect of a great running/biking app. Great social interaction, widespread usage, which makes the segment portion great almost everywhere I run/bike, and the BEST analytics. I have been waiting in vain for years for you to add ANY sort of interval training with distance, time, and heart rate. I would accept just a simple timer in the app, but audio cues for speed/HR/timers/distance and customizable training plans would be preferred. People might think with the paid version they would get it, but they would be wrong. Since this MAJOR OVERSIGHT has been noted by people on your forums, you know about it, but are willfully ignoring us, your users. I have almost reached my breaking point and am about to give up hope and switch to Runkeeper or Nike. It feels like the Benedict thing to do, but I CANNOT WAIT FOR YOU FOREVER! The saddest part will be leaving all my Strava friends behind for literally any other app that has this, simply because you refuse to add such a staple of training: INTERVALS. This is my last ditch effort to get ANY SORT of interval training in Strava, but if you don’t add it soon I am done with you 😢. Seriously Strava, DON’T MAKE ME LEAVE YOU!!! I LOVE THE REST OF THE APP TOO MUCH!

Strava and the iwatch app. I’ve been using Strava for years when I (road) cycle. Then a few years ago after a total knee replacement, I started swimming. I bought a Garmin watch to track my swimming progress and was happy to see that the Garmin watch, used to share this info with the Strava app on my iPhone and automatically shared this info. It had my swim with all stats right on my iPhone. I recently was given an Apple iwatch as a gift and it has a default Strava app on it. It does not offer a swim tracking option. Furthermore, the Apple default activity app which I’ve been using for swimming does not automatically share this info with the Strava app and there is no option to do this. So, I’m kind of disappointed since I am “friends” with a few people and would them to see that I am still training. And I would like them to give me the 👍 after a swim. Now I have to explain that I’m using a new watch that doesn’t offer swimming in the Strava app. I suggest the developers figure out how to incorporate swimming in their iwatch app or at least “share” this info with the Stava app the way Garmin does.

Great App. Except they take away from free users. While I love that in Strava I can share my runs with friends and my coach while doing challenges, I have noticed that they like to slowly take away the things you can do without buying their overpriced subscription. I have to say that I joined when segment leaderboards were still all free, routes were free, and you got a year in review of your activities at the end of the year. This was great, made me love the app, but since then it has become an app that only lets you see top overall on a segment and men and women best times. It has also made it necessary to pay for the ability to use the number of routes freely created by other users and inputted into their database. And finally very recently they made the Year in Sport exclusive to subscribers. In the end it is just a Facebook for sharing activities and adding up numbers. Many other tracking apps have uh more available for free than Strava. Just know if you want to make sure you will always have access to something on the app, but the subscription. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made the whole app only available by subscription.

Feels like it’s missing some things. My biggest complaint with this app is that it seems like it was purpose built for run, bike, swim, but the functionality and usage has evolved beyond that for any sport- unfortunately the UI hasn’t kept up with the evolution. For example- why does my main page only give the option to display my run, bike, swim stats if I only use it for climb, ski, and hike? It would make more sense to default to your most used 3. I don’t know anybody on the app whose main 3 are bike run swim, so there seems to be a disconnect. Also finding local routes seems pretty buggy, I’ll get different routes every time I search somewhere, half of them missing, never any really long routes even though I know they’re there. Wish it had better ui for climbing tracking, but it’s nice that so many other apps will plug into it. Other than that, enjoyable community, challenges are cool, and overall more motivational to use than I anticipated.

Heard the app was great but.... I am newer to running and kept hearing about this app and decided to download it. I uploaded all my workouts for the last month and then went into my dashboard excited to get started using the other features. I saw that every one of my workouts included a highlighted map of my route and where I’d been. I attempted to hide this only to find out through researching it that there is no way to do so completely. I can hide it from my dashboard by selecting “treadmill” but it still shows up in other areas of my profile. I am not the first person to be concerned with this feature. There are concerns stated in the help section with a response from Strava that this issue would be addressed in 2018! Obviously this issue has not been resolved. It is a major safety concern when people you do not know on a social media app can see exactly what routes you use to workout every day. I could set my activity to private but that kind of defeats the purpose for me to connect with others. Unfortunately because of this I cannot use this app until it is resolved. I hope they actually address this soon like they stated they would two years ago because I would love to use this app to connect with others and log my workouts.

Can be improved. Below are the basic features that are missing in order to make Strava THE tool to track your athletics performance: 1) Be able to create splits with the Apple Watch app during the workout. There is now a Strava workout analyzer within the iOS app/website but if you can’t separate mark splits during your workout, it’s useless. -> please allow users to make splits when they run with the standalone Apple Watch App. 2) Fix the issue when the first mile of the run shows a wrong pace because the GPS of the Apple Watch started to pick up signal later. In this case, I would prefer to see only the part of the run when the GPS of the Watch was having signal -> therefore, adjust distance and not just time. 3) make the feed easier to navigate. I want to see the workouts|races having more priority than other types of run therefore be higher in the feed.

Wish this app had better swim tracking & pregnancy mode. Love this app in many ways, but I wish it had better swim tracking. I wish it had: - open swim - lap swim - a setting for when you are wearing flippers - the ability to tap your iWatch when you completed a lap - pregnancy mode It was also very hard to figure out how to get it to display detailed heart rate data. Even my husband who uses Strava a lot and is a software engineer involved in UI design couldn’t figure it out. It’s a solid app, but it could use some better UI and improvements with certain sports. Seems heavily rotated towards biking & running with not enough attention on swimming. Wish they would purchase or parter with a better swim app like MySwimPro to get better swim data. Extra extra cool would be better integration of tides, swells, currents, and weather data for open swimmers. In 2022, 12 people died near me open swimming and I wonder if apps like this could help people make more informed decision when making choices. Strava could also advertise safety gear like a $20 swim buoy to open water swimmers. Perhaps even with Strava logo on it…it could save lives. Also wish it were easier to connect with other people doing my sports in the area. Surprised the social aspect is so focused on existing friends. Seems like a nice way to connect with others. Also wish it were easier to become aware of in-person competitions, races, clubs, and training opportunities.

Greed is ruining this app.. I’ve been recommending this to friends to track their activity simply because most people can get away using the free version of the app. The paid version previously had some solid features that were great, but the free version wasn’t lacking and didn’t feel intentionally crippled by the developer. The new version does. The free version was essentially stripped of all features besides base tracking. All of these features were moved into the paid tier. All of this, especially in a time where tons of people are out of work feel incredibly greedy. I’ll still use this app as someone who has paid, but it’s going to be harder to recommend it to others. Also this decision on Strava’s part has left a bad taste in my mouth towards a company that I otherwise liked.

Super motivating for running/biking. Strava has changed the game for me completely in running. It’s been so helpful in training for short races, improving my times, encouraging friends with kudos, and keeping some competitive spirit. Functionality could use some improvements - e.g., ability to add videos instead of just still photos, ability to see heart rate data from Fitbit with the free app version, etc. I also find it frustrating that the privacy settings are not consistent with the monthly race challenges- in the past I was able to save runs as “followers only” and still have them count towards monthly distance challenges, but now runs have to be marked as “everyone” privacy in order to count for races/challenges, which I find frustrating- I should be allowed to maintain high standards of privacy for my own safety while also competing in challenges.

Just 1 (major) thing that’s missing…. I love just about every aspect of this app! However the Apple Watch app is lacking any way to actually view or follow a route that you’ve saved from the iphone app. If only there were a map view on the strava Watch app! No one with an Apple Watch wants to carry their phone while running!! Right now after discovering or creating routes in strava, I’m forced to then write the route out onto a piece of paper like it’s 1980! That is still preferable to me over having to carry my phone on a run as I have an Apple Watch which is perfectly capable of navigation/mapping. If only the app offered this. Another option would be to export the route and use it in another running app that offers map views; but at $60 a year you’d expect strava to offer this basic functionality in the Watch app. Here’s hoping! Otherwise another competitor will offer this soon, and I’d be willing to pay for it!

Worst running app. Very disappointed about Strava. I just deleted my account. This is the worst running app that I have tried. The distance recorded by this app per activity is inaccurate. It always gives a smaller course that the one you really run which changes your overall pace. If you are serious about training to maintain your pace, this app will give you a hard time. It doesn’t either allow you to correct your distance ran in your activity. I really don’t recommend this app. Also if a user wants to create a course or a segment, it requires to subscribe first which basically means having to pay for subscription. No reason to do so because other apps let you do it for free. This app doesn’t either have hot badges or levels to reach based on miles accumulated, which is a motivational factor for runners. Other apps offer that such Nike+Run and Garmin. MapMyRun is way much better, and even though it is a subscribing app as well, some features are still available for free such as the tool to create a course, adjust a run, among many others.

App is garbage-Do not subscribe. I am a paid subscriber, my Fitbit Ionic is verifiably paired, and I have allowed access to my heart rate. Any documentation is years old and irrelevant, customer service takes it’s sweet time. None of the subscription features have ever worked except for the route maker. Despite rigorous trackable daily exercise over months, the app still indicates no weekly intensity. If the purpose of the Strava app is to combine data from multiple sources, it’s a total failure. To use Strava to ride, you can’t also manually activate the Fitbit or you’ll get 2 records-If you use only Strava app, you get no Fitbit activity credit-If you use Fitbit only, you can’t use the Strava route tracker. With my Smart Rower, the app still fails to pull in the heart rate data from my Fitbit. There is nothing this app does that the other free apps (Fitbit, SmartRower) don’t already do. I’m no longer sure what the point of this app is besides ripping me off. Also, I have communicated with feedback and I have not heard an answer-as of this post it was 14 days ago. Bu-bye Strava, you’re off to the land of deleted apps that failed to live up to their advertised expectations.

Trying to love you Strava.... Wanted to find an alternative app for tracking my running miles (and the occasional bike ride) and decided to give strava a try. When I first downloaded the app, I still had access to leaderboards and all that jazz, but since then Strava has thrown the subscription model at its users like so many others. ($60 a year is pretty wild if you ask me). Although I was bummed, I still enjoyed the challenges and still preferred the overall interface over Nike’s. However, over the past few months I feel like I’ve been seeing an uptick in the amount of runs that don’t get tracked properly. I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to finish a long run, only to get back and look at Strava saying I’ve only run 2.8 miles. Like what?? Sometimes the app won’t even track my movement at all during a run and I’ll find myself on the sidewalk messing with my phone trying to close out of the app to reset it, and at times that doesn’t even fix the issue. I would rather not go back to using Nike’s app (for reasons I won’t go into), but at least their gps tracking system is solid. Strava if you see this, please address this issue. (Currently on iPhone X)

Great tool, needs a few more features.. Converted over from Nike Run app to Strava a few months ago and I’m loving it! I use my Apple Watch 3 and pay for the pro version. I find that the app and watch work very well together. Overall very pleased. I do however wish there were more options for (a) goal setting and (b) workouts: (A) I do wish I could set more than just a weekly and yearly mileage goals, being able to reach a pace goal or a run distance goal would be great for motivation. (B) one of the features I miss about my Garmin was being able to set a goal distance or time or split pace for the run i.e. 6.5 mi or 60min or 9min/mi instead of having to constantly look at my watch to see when I have reached that point. I also wish there was a feature to set up workouts for the week I.e tempo run on Tue at various paces. This feature especially has me turning back to my Garmin when I train for big races.

Only a fraction of what it could do.... As a I’ve been using Zwift and training indoors for the past year. Have made healthy eating decisions as well but overall has helped me lose 25 lbs and pushed me through the terrible part of the cold season where I can’t ride. This app is amazing. stand-alone the app is fine. If all you want to do is record your ride it does that. I own an Apple Watch 4th gen and as stupid as this is you can’t record on your watch in order to get heartbeat and have your iPhone mounted on your bike to use simultaneously giving you access to your mph, trail position, length or ride etc. The only thing they offer are workarounds. Until there is full integration between apple watch and the iPhone the app is only really half complete because they don’t compliment one another. Really is unfortunate because if they worked as one unit for a single recording it would be a fantastic app. Now it’s just cumbersome and annoying.

Love it but bummed out. I love strava & will continue to use the app but am disappointed with recent updates. I really enjoyed the leaderboard & monthly comparisons, which can now only be accessed through subscription. I would consider becoming a subscriber because I am a huge fan, but the cost has been a deterrent. I can understand their decision to try & make the app more profitable. However, I think they should have given longtime users the option of buying those features at a lower cost. I am simply someone who loves running. But I am not training for anything & given the surgeries I’ve had it is unlikely I ever will. Some of the other subscribed features may not suitable for me because of that. I want to support the app but I just don’t think the price is that accessible to everyone. I understand $60/year isn’t much, but when you’re a newly unemployed college student it’s difficult justifying that extra expense. I still really enjoy the app, I just hope these changes don’t alter how much I use it. I think if i never experienced those features I might feel differently. I am sad to see them go. Wish there was more of a middle ground for less competitive individuals.

This app is simply amazing. This app has 100% enhanced my workout experience. First of all, I don’t record the run using the app... I ABSOLUTELY recommend using your Apple Watch (or whatever gps tracking watch) when completing a workout and downloading an app called, “HealthFit.” That app will automatically upload your workout to Strava. It’s incredibly reliable. Trust me, I ran over 1,400 miles last year and every single workout was incredibly accurate and correct. Next, the amount of depth and detail gone into every workout analysis is, like I said, simply amazing. The app is incredible and reliable and I have been more dedicated to running than ever, ever since I started using this app and getting to analyze my runs and, literally, see my progression over time. It’s incredible in every way and I am a paid subscriber and am going to use this for years to come.

Needs an easier way to stop time on Apple Watch. Brilliant app. Love it. But can we finally get some sort of easier way to stop the timer? Can it at least be an option to have something like being able to hit the button on the Apple Watch to stop the timer immediately? There is so much messing around with the watch to get it to stop recording time, and so my recorded time is never actually accurate as a result. It’s always a few seconds off. When I cross the finish line I don’t stop right on the finish line. So stopping based on movement isn’t accurate either. Seriously, if there was the ability to tap a button to stop the time, it would be perfect.

Strava is losing touch with their users. Having been away from regular Strava for a few years, I am only just coming to terms with the deterioration of Strava as an engaging & social athletic data tracker. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve read feedback asking Strava to stop trying to be another algorithm driven, forced feed Facebook (which feels as though it is also falling out of favour) and focus on user driven practical features. It doesn’t take much of a scroll through app feedback hear to compile a list of frustrated repeat requests. Give the user the option to choose to opt out of what you’ve thrust in their faces Strava. Focus on developing and improving practical features. Spreading your focus dilutes your identity and is turning the app into ‘many features but master of none.’ Like many others I’ve started looking for my new old Strava!

Maps not improved. When 3d maps update was introduced The zoom option was reduced to the point that one cannot differentiate overlapping and crossing routes. This is more useful than the woeful “3d” option! Change it back! Went from a 5 star to 1star app instantly Now as soon as you click on the map to open it it shuts down Strava!!!!!! It gets worse…..

Utterly useless. Have been using strava for a long time now and I’ve finally had enough. Cycling activities using watch app are completely broken recently. For the last two weeks they have been losing km and time. My commute to work is a bit under 20km and takes about 35-40 minutes but they are being reported as anything from 0.9km for 9 min up to 9.9km for 20 min. Sometimes it seems to not work at all and other times like today I stopped it and saw it at 39min and correct distance. Then suddenly by the time it sync’d to my phone it dropped to 9.9km and 20min (on both watch and phone). Only thing to do is export or my activities and go to a competitor. Strangely enough the map is correct as far as showing/plotting route.

Lost direction and broken features. Strava is definitely a go to app for riders and runners and for that is suffering from the competitive advantage. They have certainly turned their focus to the social game and forgotten to improve and add features. Fundamentally the segment system is broken by which a rider out for a “Sunday” ride could KOM all of the segments in the area. If that happens more than once there is no hope for runners. It could be argued that you can manually hunt for the “report” area on the Strava website but this is impossible in the app. Also if a “runner” can complete a 32km “run” in 1 hour and the system cannot automatically detect an issue then what is the point. The best parts of Strava is the ability to see what friends are doing and to keep a record of what you have achieved. Many apps out there do the same but just don’t have the same following. It would be nice to think the expensive price of the premium features gave more information but you can get access to these via cheaper services that can use the Strava API.

Doesn’t quite do it for me. I’ve tried the premium subscription and was very impressed. There’s not many people that o can connect to in the area. While I really like the route planning feature, the route doesn’t show on my Apple Watch when I start it so unless I remember which way to run or hold my phone in my hand I’m basically left to do it myself anyway. I was hoping to connect to other people in the area as well but this is not the app. My friend uses it for cycling and swears by it, but for me as a jogger it doesn’t do the job.

Feedback. I love Strava. It would be great if the app had a feature where your mates can find where you are in your ride in real time so you can meet up on the trails or on the road. If you got an alert during your ride saying a fellow rider is nearby that would be great. Searching for specific segments is also difficult unless you know the exact name. A “Google” type search feature when searching for segments would be helpful. Lastly, when looking for segments in real life, if Strava could plan the quickest route to the start of that segment, that would be a great feature also. Cheers

Strava Fail. We all have that ride that fails to track or save occasionally, fair enough, I guess. But there is no excuse for Strava’s consistent corporate communication and subscription failures. The latest subscription debacle concerns the muted 50% price increases that I only found out about in the media by chance. Interestingly the website was going to move me to an even more expensive month to month plan, even though I’ve always been annual. When I cancelled my subscription, it then gave me the option to subscribe annually again for the old amount. Then again, who knows, it may have increased the next time I looked… the mystery of Strava.

Going down hill. From a running point of view downhill is great. But this app appears to be doing it too. Summit ain’t all that, there’s three options and they’re designed, it seems, to give a cheaper option choice but there’s stuff I want from all three as each individual choice leaves out a section of relevant data you would normally think would be kept with what’s in another option choice and the price has been hiked like petrol ⛽️ ..... additionally the Apple Watch app let me down big style this morning (promoting this review to be fair) not syncing and I had to lose a great run. Had to manually upload. So basically I’ll be getting a new Garmin and not renewing my Summit membership. Disappointed and I’m a big user of the platform. Might just stick to Garmin Connect. My advice to Strava is to be careful not to alienate your fan base.

TERRIBLE GPS TRACKING. I used strava for years on end with no issues and in the last few months, have seen a rapid decline in its GPS accuracy leading to inaccurate distances and splits. It is so disheartening in the midst of training not being able to assess my progress. My distances are out more than 2km, and my splits out by almost 3mins/km. Garmin said I ran 5km with a 4:53min/km where as Strava said I ran 7.66km, at a pace of 2.00min/km!!! I could be on my way to the Olympics at that rate & my GPS track even had me running into people’s backyards! I have emailed the Strava team and received no feedback to help resolve this issue. I have tried everything, logging out, updating my phone and app, deleting the app, and ensuring every GPS setting is correct on my phone. It would be great if this could be fixed!!

Great app but doesn’t have map orientation. First off this app is great. I especially love that I can plan out my routes on the website and then follow them from the app. The only issue I have (and for me it is a big one) the map will only face North unless you move it manually (not safe or easy when riding and wearing gloves). It seems like it would be a simple update to just add the option to have the map orientate to the direction being travelled, but upon looking through Strava’s support community it seems to be a common request dating back as far as 2014 and Strava has responded each time with “they are putting it on the back burner” or another equally astonishingly unsatisfactory response. I’ve missed turns on busy roads and had to go to the next lights, cross, then turn back around to return to the safer route. Also no one should be having to focus on where they need to turn in relation to an upside down or sideways map whilst they are navigating traffic. It’s extremely dangerous and seems highly unnecessary. I want to keep using this app because it is actually very good, but I may just move to another that offers orientation as it doesn’t seem Strava really cares about this issue from what I’ve seen in their forum. Hopefully they add it someday soon.

Fantastic encouragement. I find this app to be absolutely excellent. It's accurate and encourages personal performance. It's fascinating and hidden humour is appreciated. I love measuring where I've been, my personal improvements and seeing my friend's accomplishments and data also. Countries apart and yet we can inspire each other to better health and better mind. Thanks for your work developing such a useful app, I use it almost daily, it's quickly become a favourite. Strava has enhanced my life and experience. I was happy to buy the membership to give support back to an organisation that supports us and healthful activities. Bravo! 👏

Thrilled....and then so disappointed. When I got back into using Strava a few months back, I loved its accuracy, tracking, segments, sociability and more. I used it for more and more rides, commutes and tooling about on weekends. Since the ‘update’ I installed on 27 July, however, it’s gone down the toilet. Tracking particularly has become REALLY poor. I’m not getting any data whatsoever for entire rides sometimes. This morning, another example. It looked ‘empty’, though after I hit the ‘finish’ button and was coding the exercise, I could see the route I took on my bike. Hope after all! After upload, however, nope. Nothing. Nada. It disappeared completely. Not that I would mind so much, but .... I do. Your ‘helpline’ have tried, but each time I ask them to look at the data, or my feed....well, they don’t. Haven’t. Disappointed. PLEASE fix!!!! I really want to LOVE Strava again :)

Great app - suggested feature. I love Strava. Had a few issues but support more than helpful! It would be great if you could click on a friend’s profile by tapping their name in the feed. Instead, you have to go in and search for them every time. You should be able to tap the ride to see their ride, but their name to see their profile. Or somehow at least see a list of the people you are following so you can quickly go to their profile, rather than having to search all of Strava.

Bluetooth heart rate.. Strava provided an exellent way to record heart rate via bluetooth. In effect 100 times better than my simultaneous recordings with a Polar V650 computer. In addition the GPS recordings via the Strava app never fail, but the V650 fail in 30 % of rides. With your removal of bluetooth recording to the Strava app you have seriously degraded the quality of Strava. I have to consider the value of my premium membership. If bluetooth recording causes a problem with “millions of other users” you should have have fixed these problems in stead of embarking on an advertising campaign for Polar, a company that cannot provide reliable heart recording . Polar has failed me with the V650, the CS600x and the s720i.

Great tracking tool. I love using this app for orienteering and remote mountain walks. However, the app is overly focussed on running and cycling. I really wish walking would count towards the vertical km challenges, for instance. A lot of the walks I do are not suitable running tracks - they’re steep and rocky. I’d really like to count them towards a vertical challenge because they are just that, a challenge, even without running it. Also, it’d be good to have orienteering as a sport category seeings as so many orienteers use Strava to track their route and it’s linked to the orienteering platform, Livelox.

Lots of great features. Pros: 👍Community (can follow friends/family who use the app) 👍Interactive map with multiple views (standard, satellite or hybrid) 👍Ability to add photos to activity 👍Shareable on Facebook & Instagram 👍Photos & map of route taken can be saved with activity statistics shown 👍No annoying ads 👍Can sign up via Facebook account 👍You’re notified when a Facebook friend joins Strava 👍24 sports to choose from to record data for 👍Can choose to make activity sessions public to everyone, private or visible to people following you 👍Can manually add details of an activity if you don’t want to use the tracking feature Cons: 👎Photos (portrait)with activity statistics are too tall for instagram (either logo or statistics get cut off)👎Local forest doesn’t show up on map image containing statistics (only when using the interactive map function)

A bit expensive and the UX/UI can be confusing. No doubt that Strava is the expert at providing the best data analytics when it comes to running, cycling or swimming. I love the segment feature, comparing myself against others friends (or foes!) and challenging myself everyday. The UX can sometimes be hard to navigate and understand. I navigate the app through muscle and visual memory rather than relying on the UI and names within the buttons. After using this app for years, my mate the other day showed me how to look at my overall “effort” over the past year. I had never seen that feature and it still takes me a while to navigate back to the page. Overall the app is mind blowing, their services are great and I haven’t seen any other app that can be used to compare my own performances vs. the others. UX and UI need to be worked on a bit more thoroughly though.

No longer Love the app - couple of suggestions. Updated review. I’m an app developer. I understand the principal of not being able to keep all people happy, all of the time. Yet why, oh why, did you recently remove Bluetooth connectivity? Yes, the ‘millions of people suffering crashes related to a feature they never even used’. Well to be honest, that’s bad coding on your part, not bad usage by your users. A better approach would have been to disable the feature by default, and then allow it to be enabled with a big fat disclaimer regarding reliability. And you would’ve done that, if you didn’t want your commercial partners selling more Bluetooth capable units. But only a cynic would believe the latter, right? — Big fan of the app. It works very well and makes accessing data post-ride super easy. A couple of improvements. - when looking at your feed, ‘following’ should not include your own rides! - private notes; there’s info I like to track related to my rides, but it’s not something I want posted on a public platform. Having a ‘private note’ section would allow this. Ride on.

Finally better with Apple Watch. Finally the Apple Watch experience is better now with audio cues instead of the annoying “notifications” feature. I love how you also added the functions for indoor runs and walks. The app is still a little buggy on Apple Watch with slow load times and having to press the stop button 3 times before it registers. But overall it’s an improvement. I go back and forth from this and Nike run club. To be completely honest it was only the Nike run club has recently been crashing and not saving any runs that I’ve come back to Strava.

Fun, engaging, minor faults. Awesome to use, the nudge function motivates you to continue training. I think that the map function is good although sometimes you cannot create trails due to a lack of clarity with gps which means your trail gets rerouted to a known section as you create. There a lot of times for segments that are humanly impossible that seem to just exist without community intervention, or an oversight from strava. It would be good to see a strava filter that double checks authenticity for runs that are faster than Olympic records, or even a percentage faster than cumulative training averages to maintain integrity of the application.

Membership. Summit stop working, then I got charged twice and nothing got sorted yet. It’s been 3 months that I haven’t been able to use any features and odd enough when my data get synchronized to strava from garmin, strava add extra minutes to it and it affects my pace. I never had to contact support while using strava before and when I needed I got disappointed for not being able to sort it out. They did got back to me saying the membership was going to get fixed and to contact Apple about the double charge. They said that the inaccurate data is due to gps loss of signal but I didn’t had any issues before when my paid membership was working. Coincidente or not at least the membership should be able to get sorted, I haven’t got any more replies from my query not being solved.

On the pedals. Love checking Strava after my ride. You always find me a little incentive boost rd on a segment or two. Love seeing how my buddies are doing and checking out their rides and pics. “If it’s not on Strava it didn’t happen” they say and certainly that’s how it feels on the odd occasion that there is a technical hitch with the computer. Only negative is seeing the e bikes on the leaderboards - definitely need to give them their own leaderboards. Or give them a bold colour to indicate EBIKE It’s bad enough when they zoom past on a big climb but adds insult to injury when they have more elevation on the leaderboard thanks to their electric motor. Overall though, I do love Strava, Keep up the good work! Thanks Jenny Hart

No complaints!. The latest update doesn’t really affect me, but in general strava is simply an excellent app for tracking your activities. The basic (not premium) version is perfectly adequate, for my needs at least, and I’m very grateful to the app designers for making such a fantastic app. Segments and the ability to follow your friends is one of the key features in my opinion that put it above other fitness tracking apps.

Only good when everything is updated. For some strange and utterly annoying reason, strava randomly decides every couple of days to stop tracking my distance, and duration. So none of my run gets recorded until right at the end it pops up with the distance but says I’ve been running for 000mins. I have a feeling it has got something to do with auto run but even when I turn it off, strava doesn’t register my time.. very frustrating. The only way it’s fixed is when apple has an iOS update.. otherwise the strava updates have no influence. However, when it does work it’s great! I just wish this wouldn’t happen so frequently. It’s not a GPS issue because my maps work fine.

Unothorized debit. I subscribed to strata membership monthly and they took out 99 dollars a hole year with out my approval .aFull membership was paid and I am unable to use to paid membership when I try to use membership features it tries to charge me again I asked for my money back they deposited it and then took it back again a couple of days later there billing system is not to be trusted I’d Be very careful giving this company access tour credit card they are a big company that rip off the average person and think they can just do it without people saying anything I still to this day a owed 99 dollars I think the app is terrible there are much better apps out there that don’t steal your money.

Great for tracking health. This app is free and so easy to track so many things. You just enter your details and creat a profile all you have to do is put in your email. Then you can begin tracking your exercise. You can track runs, walks , bike rides, work outs and more it’s really great for those who want to build their fitness and see their progress. 👍

Update inconvenient. The only issue is when Strava has to update on Apple Watch, it stops working completely. Inconvenient when you’re out and about without your phone, because the update needs the phone of course. My suggestion is that there is an option to skip the update so you can log your exercise and then update when you get home. This is not a once a year thing, seems like 4 times a year or so. Simple action to keep your fans happy!

Used to be amazing. Now it’s rubbish.. Constant updates causing crashes and a ever broadening product focus mean the basics are being missed. Case in point, the inability to get HR info from an Apple Watch whilst using a phone as the display when riding. A well known point of contention with a base of one time advocates. Strava has now lost a load of them and doesn’t seem to care. Don’t download and certainly don’t pay for premium. There are better options out there, and companies that care about their customers.

Constantly pushing to subscribe without any pricing information. Very limited functionality due to the constant pop ups to upgrade to a full subscription for enhanced functions. It gets quiet frustrating when you try to access a feature only to be blocked by a paywall. Garmin connect is much better and is totally free when you pair a Garmin watch. I only started using Strava because friends were on it, however I’m not likely to buy a paid subscription. PS: there’s no pricing information for the subscription so I can’t even make a decision on whether it’s good value for money or not.

Motivation and analysis. I joined Strava at the start when MMR was really the only option. As a triathlete it gave me more options with the different disciplines but more fundamental was how easy it was and still is to use. Syncing with my other devices is seamless and the ap is intuitive and practical. Despite the world going crazy with social media (which I really worry about) I still feel Strava maintains its integrity and is still a sports ap… with a bit of banter between friends! Its well understood that Strava is not a great financial money pot, so I know it may have to adapt but I hope it continues to stays authentic to its original audience! Thanks Strava you’re doing a great job!

strava is a brilliant concept!. you track your rides and see them on a leaderboard for every leg of the journey. super cool idea. it’s also quite motivating seeing what your friends have been doing and to try and keep up. developers: great job overall. my gripe is with the apple watch app. it now requires too many taps and swipes to start and complete a ride. it should simply be: tap to start, swipe across and hit finish. that’s it. No selecting ride type. No swipe to find and press the save button. No notification to say open the iphone app. Simplify it please! watch apps are meant to be extremely minimal. Thank you.

Too unreliable for serious use. I have persisted with this app for a few years now. Works fine 90+% of the time. If that's good enough for you and you don't mind missing out on maybe 1/30th of your activities then read no further. I have used it in several geographical locations and experienced same issue. App tracks my movement on the map, and timer is running, but registers as zero distance - rendering app useless. It's infrequent in general but means I lose data and destroys my confidence in the app. This is its most core function and it's not acceptable. Has happened on iPhone 6s and 8 plus over many iOS and app versions and in perfect cloudless outdoor conditions most of the time. I've now moved on to a different app.

Simple and excellent. I’ve been using Strava for my cycling, running and walking for many years. It is very easy to use on it’s own and also with a third party hardware device such as a GPS computer. As a free app it provides basic information that is fun to compare with your friends and the Summit package really turns it into a serious training device without making things too complicated. The Social Media functions make it a lot of fun too.

Well overdue for an update.... I use Garmin (watch) to record all aerobic activities, which then syncs to Strava. I used to pay more attention to Strava because a few friends also use it and it is great for that social aspect of training. That being said, when trying to measure performance over time I have come to the sad realisation that Strava is next to useless. Yes, Strava will let you know when you have made a PB, but you can’t check your last PB, of for that matter, you can’t even check your current PB outside of that activity. Garmin has a much more detailed analysis of your current performance, as well as providing an easily accessible comparison to your past performance. I would think that is a fairly simple and staple feature of a fitness tracking app. Why am I even using Strava when I could stop the activity syncing at Garmin? Please update... before Apple categorise Strava as a social media app rather than a fitness app.

Keeps asking for password Apple ID style. Every time I open this app I get a pop up screen that looks like the Apple ID sign in pop up asking for a password. If I cancel and not enter a password I'm still logged into the strava app and can still view all my activities and post new ones. Even after quitting the app I still get the sign in pop up that asks for my password this keeps happening at random times throughout the day and will only cease when I delete the strava app. The password prompt looks way too similar to the Apple ID one and so obviously I never enter my password because it's feels like a phishing attempt via a bug in the strava app and since I'm signed in to strava despite not entering a password it feels even more suspect. I will not use this app until a fix is implemented.

I neeeed help. I need this app for school and it’s been working great but all of a sudden it keeps glitching me out of the app doesn’t do it for any of my other apps so it must be strava ive tried re starting my phone deleting and re installing the app and a few other things and nothings working it doesn’t need to be updated I’ve checked I’ve gone on to setting to make sure everything is how it should be and it is but it just won’t let me stay on the app for more then one second

Wish route building/editing was better. Long-time Strava user, it has lots of great features but it baffles me that you can’t create route to locations (ie typing in an address) on the go. Would be great to be able to do that so that if you change your mind part-way through a ride you can quickly create a new route. Even simple things like better editing capabilities for your saved routes (being able to reverse them, adding more waypoints) would be super helpful.

Lack lustre and difficult to use. Have deleted the account by request. It is difficult to use and route planning feature defaults to roads ignoring registered sealed and gravel tracks. Where trying to use active feature to follow route, the tracking was extremely slow especially compared to other tracking apps I use including Apple Maps. This caused many track backs on both roads and tracks making me think unsuited to turn by turn tracking. When I tried to reach out to support and strata community for help to allow route planning on off-road but registered tracks no response was received. Definitely would not recommend for mountain bike or casual bike use. It is interesting to note on experiencing difficulties using this app, several bike shops unanimously recommended an alternative app.

Strava after 5+ years. Was one of the early adopters many many years ago. Started paying after a few years of using it for the additional features which I thought they deserved it. As now a very casual user features are excellent for those serious. Massive price increase would be my only frustration given my significant usage decrease due to an accident making it difficult to justify as a casual. Be nice to have a middle ground.

Why I love Strava. Strava is one of my favorite apps on my phone. I love the way it has challenged me to view the world and my training differently. Since using strava I have gone through many different phases with my running and fitness, but I have always loved how strava has given me the capacity to reflect on what I have achieved as well as helping me to map out my challenges and goals for the future.

Great App. Thank you for replacing the “Suffer Score” with “Relative Effort” it’s very welcome improvement. If only you’d communicated with your customers a little better we all would have been saved much frustration. Love the becan feature, gives me good security when I ride at night. A number of reviewers have claimed the activity can’t be edited before it’s uploaded. Personally I don’t have that issue. Like most problems it’s best to raise it with the right people before whinging to everyone.

Great! Bring dark mode back tho. Have been using Strava since forever, paid sub for last few. Great community, great features, tracking for training over time is great, GAP time also, website is super valuable for planning routes and seeing vertical meters and training also. Just want dark mode back, pleaaaaaaase! It been so long, the website also please, it’s just blazing bright and white. No good when I’m usually on it at night seeing what other people are up to and planning future adventures :)

GPS unreliable. Promises much but if the GPS logic is so flaky, what’s the point? So sick of it ‘acquiring GPS signal’ and then not recording distance for the first few hundred metres. It knows where I am on the map as I’m running but zero distance covered!! Then it finally wakes up and tells me I’m going at 20min/km or something for a false final reading. Then, at the end, after saving, it corrects everything and only counts the time and distance from when it woke up. I start it in the open air with no trees above. I trick it with on and off to start a couple of sessions. I walk for 200m to ensure it’s working then start a new session for the run. Hey presto, it fails again! Never used to be this bad. Last 2-3 months are hopeless and no, I haven’t moved house, changed route, etc. Yes, app updated. Very disappointing to be teased by the promise of functionality.

Life changing app. Best app for cyclists ever. I was 20kgs heavier than what I am now. 2.5years on, I’ve met new friends, completed multiple cycling races (local, regional, state), sub 10 hours 3 peaks challenge at Falls Creek, won a club champ and a time trial race, multiple Gran Fondos, travelled to Taiwan and competed in the Taiwan KOM challenge. Strava is not just a data collection tool, or a social media tool, or the KOM segment race engine, or the new routes you see people ride everyday and you want to give it a go yourself - but it is the collective sum of all those parts that makes you more active, more engaged with your new found friends and your desire to just “ride on and enjoy life”.

Don’t bother subscribing. Don’t get sucked into the subscription. The metrics are complete rubbish. “Matched runs” is just Strava pulling out a recent run of equivalent distance and telling you the bleeding obvious that you’ve run faster or slower. No reference to whether your HR was higher or lower, cadence etc. “Relative effort” is just Strava saying hey, you ran a long run today and that’s longer than the runs you’ve usually been running…again, bleeding obvious. Don’t start me on the Calories which you don’t pay for. Strava have been told for years that their Calorie calc is waaay too high, but refuse to fix it. Strava is just a social media app to post runs on.

App works but careful of the challenges. This app is a double edged sword…. Having Strava definitely motivated me, through publicly recording progress and doing challenges. However, the running challenges don’t come with explicit warnings or advice on how to safely increase your running. I injured myself by pushing too hard to do a 20% increase of distance in a month. Sounds small, right? If I had been warned you should go slower when you increase your distance, I could have avoided an injury. 4 months later still not back to running, doing lots of physio.

Cancelling because there is no Kilojoule recording. I’m cancelling my premium subscription and no longer using this app. It’s a fitness app. For tracking fitness. The world is using Kilojoules now and not calories. Because you don’t support kilojoules - my Apple Watch and health apps show that I’ve done 1hour of cycling but there is no kilojoules recording which means it is useless for me to record a ride. At least put in the option. I have seen questions online asking you to do this since 2014. Are you listening to your users? Once kilojoule tracking and recording on Apple health is added - I will reactivate my subscription and use the app. For now I’m just going to use workout tracking on my Apple Watch.

Route Planning + Privacy. Hey team as a subscriber I love the app but when planning a route I can no longer choose manual mode? So many local trails show in the heatmap but I can’t plan a route accurately any more as you took manual mode away :/ In relation to Privacy, why can’t I choose who I want to share my activities with. Some activities I don’t want to share with all followers but only those who I ran with or a select few. A bit like Facebook sharing of posts you can choose who can see certain posts. Maybe you could develop this functionality

Awesome app. This app is awesome! It keeps everyone on their toes to beat their own personal record and links up riders who were riding with you. What a fantastic set up. I think they should make a map which shows every ride you have logged. That way you could zoom in and see if you have been a similar direction to another ride. Then make a link so you can see which ride it was. I had a break from Strava and have just been getting back onto it. So fun to socialise and connect your rides. Great memories and lots of your fitness or social riding.

Great app, but new subscription disappointing. I have been using Strava for a few years and have grown to like the app for tracking my activities and sharing them with others. I’m disappointed however at the new all or nothing subscription. I’m willing to pay for what I use and did consider going premium before but I train recreationally with no particular goals and so the premium features were of no interest to me. Even the perks almost all don’t apply to where I live. Why not have a basic subscription with the features that were free and have been taken away? Even though the subscription is “only the price of three energy bars a month” I don’t think I have ever bought three of those bars in my life because they are too expensive for my needs. I will probably continue to use Strava while watching functions slowly disappear since it still is the best I have found, but would like to contribute to the app in a non professional athlete kind of way while not being stuck with a bare-bones tracker.

Leaderboards. They just changed the app to see leaderboards you have to pay $70. Just ruined the app in my opinion.

Bad update. Doesn’t work on my watch since the last update. Crashes whenever I try to open it.

DISAPPOINTING UPGRADE... AVOID!!!. Removes a lot of features... ex. this year's leaderboards. i clicked upgrade button by accident, and i regret it after one ride. what a sham!!! i would go back to previous version if i could. AVOID THIS VERSION!!!

Strava is a joke now.. $76.99 a year now to use stravas features that made it popular. Just another app trying to max out profits which will turn out to be obsolete in a few years. Lost my support after taking away key features which made me enjoy using the app. Now that you have to pay for them I just use other apps now which still have the features for free. Strava your a rip off.

Worthless now. All the useful features are gone and losing so many people makes buying it pointless. This was my favorite app now i have no use for it

Missing sports on watch. Missing a lot of sports on the apple watch. Also does not have wakeboard and dragon boat.

Optimize the map tracker. Love the app.. Optimize the map tracker. Love the app.

Women have tiny pockets!!. I often wear shorts when I run. For reasons unbeknownst to me, women’s shorts have the littlest and most inconveniently sized pockets. Because of these tiny pockets, I have to run with my phone in my hand. I’ve noticed that when I run with my phone in my hand the app records my distance and pace incorrectly. This is common among my female friends too. Half of the world’s population is women. Many of us run. Many of us have tiny pockets. Many of us carry our phones in our hands. Strava’s algorithm should account for women’s habits. This GPS flaw is not impossible to solve - it just hasn’t been prioritized. Yet again, a tech org has failed to account for gendered data and treats the female experience as atypical. Hoping Strava fixes this immediately, as it doesn’t seem like our pockets will be getting bigger anytime soon.

Gets me Going!. Use every day. Love it!

Too Many Dolla Bills. Too expensive and heart rate cancels most of the time

Trash. This app has a lot of bugs, crashes, doesn’t log activities properly, will have you teleporting across town in straight lines like I’m a goddamned bird or something. It’s NOT a phone or data issue. It’s the APP, and there is next to zero tech support on stravas end. I’m looking for another exercise app because this one SUCKS.

My fave. I've tried other running apps. Strava is my favourite.

Best app ever. Best cycling app out there

New update makes app useless. Strava was a great app to track your activities and see what your friends were up too. Now, due to their latest update, it is useless without a subscription. I ask the Strava management two questions: How are you going to make money if new users (possible subscribers) get nothing from the app? Are subscribers going to stay with the app, if they aren’t competing against many people?

Unreliable. Constantly crashing, often missing large portions of outings. Paces are all over the place. Currently using it with an iPhone 6s which doesn’t take kindly to newer updates. I’ve recently had to uninstall because it doesn’t take kindly to my iPhone offloading it and won’t reload when wanting to use. Using the app without a watch. Nice to see segments and a catalogue of my runs, but if I had a watch I wouldn’t be using Strava at all.

Disheartening.. Was looking at my active calories for a long, long time and discovered that Strava has been duplicating my workouts within my health app. Had no reason to check, just found it in passing. What a terrible app to be so inaccurate with this. I look it up in the community and this is a common problem? Yeah... Thanks a ton. Thank god I didn’t pay any money for this. Was just about to spring for some training tools, I’m sure they work just fantastic too. What a joke. Thanks for making it seem like I was doing better than I was.

Completely disappointed.. I can’t believe they have ruined what was formerly the best app for cycling and running by making the basic features subscription based.

Boooo. Strava remove so many things from free version. Disappointing. I will look for an other apps. Any suggestions?

Walking Kms.. Strava should include walking kms under the ‘shoe’ on your profile overview that shows your weekly totals. Only running kms are highlighted on this graph. As a walker it is disheartening to see 0 kms on the weekly graph.

Got worst and now 6+ hours to update my ride.. Whatever updated make it didn’t record my activities fully. It just sucks. This thing got an award? This world is very fake. Don’t waste your time and energy in this app. It will only frustrate you.

Data won’t post. I had 3 events that didn’t post for 6 days. Then on the next event, it posted & the other 3 events came in. Now today’s event hasn’t posted in 4 hrs.

Strava removing free features. I’ve used strava for over 5 years and recommended it to plenty of friends but today they crossed the line. Removing segment leaderboards from free users is not the way forward. Time to move on.

Recent update. The most recent update changed a lot of the simple free features and put them behind a pay wall, I would finding an alternative since the basic features in this app are decreasing

Apple Watch still crashing. Latest update (June 5th) supposedly fixes Apple Watch crash upon startup... except it still crashes. Oh dear...

Disappointed about the new pricing. I use Strava for fun and to compare myself with my friends and other cyclist. It’s sad that I have to pay 7$ per month for just that feature. I wouldn’t pay for facebook or instagram, why do I have to for strava?

De moins en moins utile. À chaque mise à jour, la version gratuite devient de moins en moins utile. C’est rendu presqu’exclusivement un logbook😢. Mettez des pubs si c’est une question de fric car je ne désire pas d’abonnement.

Stop making your app worse!. Why on earth would you remove the weekly volume view from profile page? I am a paying customer and I still can’t see weekly mileage elevation history from the training tab. Why do you hate your product and seemingly trying everything to make it worse and worse?

Great training tool!. Fun! Great training tool when you have to ride solo!

Strava Disapointment.. Been with Strava for almost 30 thousand kilometres, up until about 4 months ago it was an excellent app you track your self and watch your buddies try improve there riding and fitness . Lately though every second or sometimes every ride it crashes and leaves you with a straight line . Some times it’s only a couple kms sometimes it’s 50 . That gets to be very frustrating when you like to keep track of your mileage and routes. This was all accessed with the free app. Very basic needs,so now your app doesn’t work reliably and you want to charge for it, to get the same flawed performance. I think you should rethink your plan , as I see it now you are losing thousands of subscriptions and with each one of those there are numerous bad reviews. There are other ways to make your app viable but not on the backs of your initial target group us the recreational rider.

Used to be great. I used this app for years. It was great for tracking my rides and comparing times with friends. Moving the leaderboards and “following” boards to premium was a stupid mistake. Will now uninstall

Removed Features. Really disappointed to see the features that were removed. Trying to get more people to subscribe to summit is a low blow

Retrait de nombreuses fonctions gratuites essentielles. La dernière mise à jour avec le retrait de nombreuses fonctions essentielles gratuites a rendu l’intérêt de l’application très faible. Dommage.

Something is wrong. Since the Aug 30 update, the app is screwing up its gps connection. It was so good before this update. Giddy up lads.

Jiu jitsu. Love the app! Would really like to see Brazilian jiu jitsu or grappling as a choice of activity!

Sucks since upgrading. Ever since I moved to a paid subscription the app is terrible… slow, laggy, crashes, have never been able to record any workouts directly - record never works. I’ve had to resort to using other apps that share the data back to Strava. Lame, want my money back.

Shame Shame Shame. The latest update turns what used to be a great app into a sham. Only the basic features now are free. I'm shocked one of their office staff doesn't trail behind you on a run and beg for money or they'll trip you. I'm switching to something else. I hope they go under.

Forcing Subscriptions. Latest update removed about 3/4 of the functions and made them “subscription only”. This move has backfired for me at least - I was tempted to sign up prior to the switch. Now I feel extremely ripped off and refuse to part with a penny. I’ll delete the app and find something else before I spend a dime now.

Corporate greed.... This app was great until they removed all the free features and made it part of their summit package. I can’t believe I have to pay to look up my previous segment times... Might as well stop using Strava all together and use Garmin connect.

Undo kudos. Can't remove kudos

Unreliable. When it works it’s great, when it decides mid run/ride not to work, it’s infuriating. Maybe it’s only the free version that does this.

removed feature. Was a amazing app until they decided to remove features.

Update. App no longer works for paid subscribers. Nicely done.

No longer a KOM/QOM app. What used to be a fun and free app to track your progress is no more. Basic and social features that made it great now requires a subscription. I’ve lost trust in this app and can not recommend it anymore.

Déception. J’adorais cette app.... pourquoi avoir TOUT mis payant?? Je suis vraiment très déçu, payer pour devoir suivre mes performances... très ordinaire.

Subscribe to see my explorer segments?!?. Hi strava, you can’t just block everything which was free at the first place to now you charge us for that! No fair at all!!! Adding different options that we have to pay for is ok. What about running ads? I hope you will change your mind very shortly, or in my opinion you will loose a lot of your members!!! I will put back 5 stars when you will make it free again. Thanks.

yezzzir. on deck

not impressed. do an update and stops working on apple watch. Tested prior to releasing?

Pay to play. Strava used to be great, featuring a wide variety of functions and more in depth and sophisticated training programs, route builder and much more for premium. But now everything is basically premium or nothing, something as basic as weekly mileage is not premium only, all that’s left is challenges, minor statistics, leaderboards, and the standard social aspect for posting and giving others kudos. Strava was never good at connecting people with the cycling community in their area and worse now that everything is premium only. Really considering deleting if it isn’t for my habit of using this to record. There’s really no point specially if you have a computer, I might as well use my personal device’s app. Strava is going to die up if this goes on.

Great App! Fun and Serious ! Motivates!. This is the Depository of all workout apps. If you use Garmin or Apple- it’s a must have. You will see your friends workouts and be able to compare your workout to theirs...Seamlessly! Segments are so easy. Compare your times to other who have done the same route or a small portion of a route: Run or Bike. For example: I might have just bike 50 Miles. There might be 10 segments and I can choose any or all when I am done. Strava let’s me see how I did against: other males; females; how I ranked today- for the year- all time- and if you’re Premium then by weight and more! Set up your own segment and watch how you rank. This is fun and motivating for me. Also- I love how it keeps track of my mileage YTD and I can see how many miles I road at a quick glance. I love my Garmin Connect, but this lets me see my buddies and I can find and or follow all my friends and track how hard they work out by their HR score (Suffer Score?). This is a must have app. Set your privacy setting to what your comfort level is if you just want to share with certain people. Learn, analyze and enjoy each workout with the App that gives back!

Scammers Bait & Switch. You sign up and get the summit membership and enjoy all the bells and whistles until... Next thing you know they drop Bluetooth technology and expect you to pay more money to purchase and use other devices and other companies apps to upload to their own just for some bells and whistles fitness info. What’s the point of being a tracking app if you have to rely on other apps heart rate, cadence, and power meter info? Strava shame on you for taking our money and a nice application that was simple and saying screw you to your customers. Instead of fixing issues they just drop issues and hope more ppl don’t realize that they’ve done this in the past as well. So be warned you will like this app at first and sooner or later they will drop the very thing you used and relied on to track rides and fitness and not care how it affects your use of their app because in the end your money is all they care about. Got news for you Strava. Karma is real and it will get ya back. Have a nice day!

No Sensor connect ruined a good app. Strava is a pretty good app but it really took a huge step backwards by eliminating Bluetooth sensor connections. You used to be able to connect a heart rate sensor or any other sensor directly through Strava and the data would feed into your activity (after paying for Premium). This is no longer possible. Now you have to use another app to record sensor data (I use Wahoo) and then upload it to Strava. One catch is if you want to send a tracking Beacon (after paying Premium) you have have Strava and Wahoo open. Why do I have to use two apps to accomplish what one app used to do? When I finish a ride I have to upload my Wahoo ride to Strava and then delete my Strava ride (or else it will double count your activity) then I have to edit the Wahoo ride. Now I have multiple more steps just to record a ride. So this basically ruined a good app. Strava please fix this and stop taking things away and saying the app is better!

Awesome but it got messed up. I’m competitive, so this app is perfect. It has changed the way I work out. Fantastic. Edit: lowered my review to three stars. Blatant cash grab from this most recent update. I’ve loved this app for a long time but this is bad. All this right in the middle of a pandemic where money is short. It’s disappointing and I expected more. I understand that you devs need to eat, and I encourage you to try to make more money off of this great app BY IMPROVING PREMIUM FEATURES. I would actually buy premium (I promise) if you gave me even more analytics or an improved route maker or more goals options. Now I will NOT EVER buy premium to get back my favorite features because I’m principally opposed to being extorted. Give your loyal fans back the service we’ve come to expect, and improve your paid service with new ideas.

Now just another fitness tracker.... Latest update is really ill advised. For me what set Strava apart from the hundreds of other fitness trackers was the segment leaderboard and segment history features. With these core features now behind a very expensive paywall, I don’t see how they’ll possibly attract new users (no one is going to just jump in and start paying the huge premium without understanding these features first hand). And, as current users who are unwilling or unable to pay the large premium slowly move away from the app, the leaderboard concept loses much of it’s value. What fun is competing over and over against the same 3 people in town who choose to be subscribers!? Seems like a death spiral in the making. Really weird and unfortunate “upgrade”! I had been seriously considering signing up for the premium service, but this update struck me as really obnoxious, and also makes me question whether the leaderboards will even be worth paying for in a few months once everyone leaves.

Strava is Broken 😭. Great App just wish I could get everything back. All I see is loading errors and I tried logging out and then tried re-logging in and it still says this “Strava is temporarily unavailable, please try again later (503)” So now I give up 😞😔I’m gonna delete the best run’n app ever because of a silly glitch. Oh well I guess I’ll just have to find some other app that records runs n’ stuff. Never mind that I payed for a Strava Subscription and have been using it since Covid era and the fact that all my friends will wonder why I disappeared. Lastly I saw that there was an update I tried to update Strava but it failed. Now I’m feeling super pessimistic about my future fitness will look like without Strava.

Wish I could get into it. I have heard so much about Strava over the years, but was reluctant to add it bc I already track my runs so many ways - MapMyRun to share with friends, Nike+ Run Club for my lifetime running totals, achievements, and coached runs, and Garmin watch. I added Strava bc a virtual race I’m doing requires it and I thought I’d try it for a month of regular use with the free subscription. While I like the social aspects of this and the training data (still trying to learn what it all means!), there are several disappointing aspects that I can’t get past: - can’t use help/support feature in app (it repeatedly tells me to first confirm my email, I do, nothing changes) - can’t edit a run - can’t add shoes from the app, and can’t start shoes from the number of miles they already have - the training plan feature is absolutely bare bones. There is zero customization and no option for coached runs (fartlek, anyone?) - GPS tracking is wildly discrepant from my Garmin watch, which I’ve used for years. Adds anywhere from .15-.2 mi extra distance on runs from 3-5mi in length. That’s a huge difference. It makes me look like I’m much faster than I am, but it gives me false PRs. Not cool, Strava. Bottom line for me: MMR and NRC do these things better and most of them for free. NRC is definitely the best value, even if Nike is constantly trying to sell me stuff.

Paid for features I’m not getting and support doesn’t respond. I used premium for a month with a free trial and liked some of the features enough that I decided to subscribe. For some reason a week after getting charged all the premium features dropped off my app, despite it still saying I’m a premium subscriber. None of the suggested solutions on the support website worked, so I submitted a ticket. They got my hopes up by responding fairly quickly with a request for my payment receipt, but after sending that over I’ve gotten no response for days. Aside from the robust community on Strava, the basic features are pretty much the same you’ll get from any free app, so if you’re into the social aspect then basic Strava is probably a good pick for you. I’d be wary of giving them your money, however, as it looks like their customer support is notoriously bad, and there’s a chance you won’t even get the features you paid for.

I use to love this app. What with the last few updates to both this app and to iOS the application keeps on dying while I am using it. I would start my run and by the time I reached the half mile point I wouldn’t hear any indication and I would look at the iPhone screen and not see the little blue bar at the top of the display. I knew at that point that Strava had stopped working and it would need to be restarted. This happened several times over the last few days and it is far too frustrating and annoying so I have moved on to other running apps. I had submitted a previous bug report which was to update my iPhone to the latest version of iOS (which I did) however that did not fully fix the problem. By the wayI had already paid for a subscription.

I really wanted to love it!. I really wanted to try Strava for the social aspect. I don’t need crazy metrics for my runs and thought it would be fine. I even have a trial of the premium sub right now. This has the worst UI of any app I’ve tried (and I’ve tried all of them). Everything glitches, or is kept on the website, or is hard to find in the app, or is pointless. I keep having to google “how to do X in Strava” or “why isn’t Strava doing Y.” It auto-pauses and never resumes on runs, it doesn’t record calories despite knowing my weight, almost none of the interface is intuitive. You can’t track shoe mileage, you can’t import more than the past 30 days of Apple health data, the advertised training plans are kept locked up on their horrible website and aren’t even useful plans. It’s just all so bad I cannot believe that they would CHARGE for this! Strava you’ve at least got to get your $h!+ together before you transition the business model to paid.

Every Kid’s Not Supposed To Get A Trophy!. Love this app, except that with every updated version, it’s been done by a generation inching closer and closer to the age of every kid gets a trophy! And, plainly put, I don’t think much of that generation! First, they eliminated trophies on downhill speeds as “it may encourage dangerous competition”. Then, they changed the screen around so that you were more encouraged to compete with just your own times. Then, they started giving trophies for everything, i.e., fastest today. Guess what? Real adult don’t get frightened by competition or not being the best. We like being in better company. We thrive in competitive situations. If I need to feel everything’s coming up fairy dust and unicorns, I’ll find a college safe space. Leave the app alone!! Competitors LOVE it as is!

App has a problem.. This week the App has started ending bike rides on its own while I am using it. Today I stopped to look at the map, as soon as I opened the app I saw it ending and saving the activity on its own. I was not finished. I restarted the app and told it not to sent text to my contact. It recorded less than a quarter mile and when I looked at it a few miles later it showed that it wanted me to send the text again. Why would it want the text sent twice? How do I add the miles that it missed? Also not happy that it did not record a segment that I use on the way back to where I am staying this week. With all these errors I feel that I should get a refund for half a year. Overall it is a great app but this stopping is very annoying.

Hot Garbage. I switched over to Strava because of the rave reviews. Sadly I came to find out that it’s functionality and challenges are a joke. I run an IPhone 7 (updated) and an Apple watch 3 (updated). In the 4 months since I’ve been running Strava I’ve had to reinstall it on my watch over 10 times (stopped counting) due to it deciding not to work with the phone app. Constant notifications asking me to re-login to the phone app when I’m staring at it open and functioning on my phone, and the new one, asking me to grant location access from my phone that’s ALREADY ON! The challenges are a joke, promising glory and prizes and then the next day some dude or dudette from who knows where has already tracked 160 miles in one day from the start of the challenge, super motivating, like watching a fellow runner jump in a cab at the beginning of a marathon. All in all, a crappy app with a toooooooon of hype. It’s nice to know a company that pulls in over $8 million a year with only 200 some odd employees can’t manage to keep the app from breaking.

Great app for tracking fitness, great community, great customer support. Mixes complexity with usability. Incredibly powerful features — like course mapping, integration with gps devices, segment analysis and more — that are much easier to use than most fitness apps. I also like that you can easily control privacy, whether you want to share information with everyone or just your network. There are several ways to track profess — whether you’re wanting to see personal improvements or how you compare to groups or even everyone that’s ever participated on that same stretch of road. These include challenges, segment and trending analysis over time, and there are QOMs/KOMs. The latter compares your times to everyone, the former can be more personalized.

Siri. Great app. I have been using it for years and I love the flyby feature. Please add Siri support so you can start recording a ride using Siri. For example, Siri integration would allow me to say “Hey Siri, start recording with Strava” or something along the lines of that. This will allow users to start rides without fumbling with their phone and having to open the app. Very helpful if you are wearing biking gloves or if you are biking and cannot divert a lot of attention to the phone. My ski tracker app called “snoww” has this feature along with apps such as “Lyft” which allow you to request rides using Siri. I contacted the support team about this and they responded with a canned response describing the voice feedback feature which gives you updates during your ride. This is not the feature I am requesting or talking about. That is a pathetic response. Please add Siri integration. Thanks.

if i could lodge a complaint anywhere else, i would. i appreciate the data collected and the personal feedback. i like the ability to socially engage with and encourage my friends and acquaintances regarding their activities. i purchased a subscription to support the development & growth if the application, but lately my feed has been inundated with offers & adds disguised as clubs and challenges to join. sometimes i’ll scroll for quite a long time to get past all of this. if i didn’t pay for a subscription, i’d accept it as the price of admission, but i DO pay. several of my friends pay for & use Ride With GPS, & i have to admit, certain features, like turn-by-turn instructions for routes (strava doesn’t seem to offer this), are attractive, especially considering the lack of adds. Rethink this decision for your paying supporters, Strava.

Doesn’t work on iPhone. It’s very disappointing how unreliable this app has become, in the beginning was good, now they only care about money and silly challenges. When I run open the app in both, Apple Watch and IPhone and always the distance is shorter on the Apple Watch between 0.1 to 0.6 miles, in top of that when I’m running I could see my moving time for mile on my phone but as soon as I finish only gives me the elapsed time which makes impossible to know the real pace. I exchanged a long chain of email with costumer service and the excuse was that “engineers were working on the problem”, 2 months later and the same issue persists. Maps are lousy, especially in big city, it’s ridiculous that show me running on top of buildings or on the water. I just gave up and I won’t renew my subscription in June. Looking for alternatives, maybe Nike Run Club is better, or at least no as bad as this one.

Getting Dropped. I paid to have a subscription with Strava 10 years ago because I wanted them to be around for the cycling community and be successful. I have to be honest, I’ve been disappointed with their lack of consideration for the very people they originally intended to serve. They erased all segments on Zwift, very disappointing. They thought they were doing everyone a favor, they didn’t. They erased or decided not to let you track your times or segments against other fellow club members. They did away with annual best KOM / QOM’s. I guess some riders either complained or had fragile egos, whatever. Strava is downgrading to the point of “my ride” or other gps tracking apps. It started out as a no nonsense app for competitive cyclists. Now it seems as though they don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. It’s too bad, they had a good thing.

Brings me peace of mind. I have never once left an app review before but if anyone deserves it, it’s Strava. As a female runner, one thing I’m always consciously thinking about is being proactive about my safety and Strava is the only free app I’ve found who really gives me peace of mind. The beacon text allows you to send a tracking link to your partner/roommate so they can follow along in real time. It would be easy for Strava to make this a premium feature and charge for it, but the fact that they value athletes’ safety over their bottom line has made me a forever customer (I have gone premium because their other features are great, but at the times in my life when I wasn’t ready to pay but still wanted to run, this was huge). Thank you Strava for putting your athletes first!

Need cursor-based time readout for indoor training. Strava: When users open a workout and are analyzing the speed, power, heart rate, cadence graphs for an indoor or stationary trainer workout, we need the cursor to show the specific workout time for any given moment in the workout. When I look at indoor trainer intervals, for example (I’m mainly a cyclist), I can see the simultaneous value for all the recorded metrics EXCEPT time. To be clear, I can see the simultaneous time readout for a geographic (outside) ride in the altitude graph just under the mileage. But when doing inside trainer workouts, those values, mileage and time, are lost. Of those, workout time (along with key recorded metrics) is most critical in analyzing an indoor trainer workout. Thank you for considering this addition! Best, Tom Ehrhard, Strava Summit user.

Update app. Solution: why not tell your uses they need to turn on Fitness & Motion and take them to that setting if able instead of making them reboot, reinstall 2-3 times before finding the setting by looking at someone else’s phone settings??? Paid for a subscription. Tried to link my Apple Watch 7 and it will not connect. Watch says please open strava app on your phone. Open the strava app and click on connect Apple Watch. A motion and fitness box shows up says required. Click on it and it opens the strava settings on my phone which has location, Siri and search, notifications, background app refresh and cellular data. All are on. What am I supposed to do on the setting screen to get this app to connect with my Apple Watch???? I have rebooted all devices, deleted the app.

Overall good sports app. Overall good sports app, which however needs some major important functions added: (i) There is no way to see your current pace on the Apple Watch 3 App when running. Only split (for 1km) and average for the whole workout can be seen. This is especially a problem when you do interval workouts like yasso800´s, since you don’t know the speed for the 800m you are running. Other apps can easily do it and I don’t get the point why Strava just doesn´t add a third option of current pace besides split and avg. (ii) There is no way to use your Apple Watch 3 to record a swimming workout and upload it to Strava. The only thing you can do is upload a workout manually, but it won’t show you the splits not anything. The Apple Watch 3 is the most native device to iPhones and the activity app nicely records the swim data, so it there should either be an option to import that to Strava or do natively record a workout with the watch in Strava. (iii) it would be nice if there were certain standard interval workouts added, so you can choose the pace you want to run and the distance for each split and the watch will tell you when to speed up/ slow down. Hope to see some of these features added in the future! Keep up the good work!

Solid 2⭐️ app. iPad: no app, unfortunate, could be used for the social networking planning aspect of fitness instead of having to constantly hold up a phone. Apple Watch: don’t use the Apple Watch app. It’s a step backwards from the iOS/watch app built in. 1⭐️ iOS application does what it needs to do for connecting with other people using the application, to view social profiles, etc. although it’s quite painful to have to import Apple Watch-based activities. Also, given the outage I had the other day, those activities are at risk. The Strava app on the Apple Watch is absolutely useless and doesn’t give as much data as the built-in application, so why use it? Why do I lose data about splits just because I’m using the strava app on my Apple Watch? If anything, a third-party app should give me more. Meanwhile, my workouts on my Mi band 6 seem to import automatically. So, quite weird.

I’m an old retired Fart on Medicare. Have been using Strava for over two years with iPhone app. No longer “run”...walk but use the run mode. I really like the functionality of the program...I typically log 25 to 40 miles,13-15 minute miles in a Strava week...starts on Monday vice Sunday(European). Goals set, route and segments created, personal records documented...event, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly data all neatly organized...plus “all time stats”...great tool... Equipment logged...for me, shoes tracked by miles...maintain list of when put in service and retired...8 pairs “in stock” at the house...good for about 350 miles... Glad to pay the premium member subscription...albeit, I don’t use the functionality...just want to support and hope that we NEVER see “advertisements”...keep Strava “pure”

Disappointing Update. I have used Strava for 5 years to track my runs and mountain bike rides, and it has been one of my favorite apps. The features Strava provided in addition to GPS tracking were awesome and over the years have motivated me to become a better athlete. Some of the best features I am referring to are comparing past times and leaderboards. I even wrote an essay in my college Health Promotion class about how good Strava is at motivating people to be healthier and become better athletes. Unfortunately, Strava decided to make these features Subscription-only in the latest update, which greatly disappointed me. I can no longer compare past times or use the leaderboard, which were some of the best features. If Strava is struggling financially, I would gladly put up with a few ads in the app. However, they have decided to make you pay $60 to use the basic features. I hope these recent reviews will help them realize the impact Strava has made in the lives of many athletes and restore the basic free features.

very disappointing... the Facebook of activity apps. I guess if one is looking to be part of a training community, and doesn't mind sharing lots of private information such as location and data with others and tech companies, Strava must be great. I was ready to subscribe to this app for one reason: to be able to sort and see data as I want to see given how limited both Apple and Garmin apps are for seeing such data as total steps in time frames of my choosing. I am very concerned about data collection and HATE notifications. To disable notifications, it seemed like I had to uncheck at least 20 boxes. I never felt as if my personal information was truly safe from Strava, which would have been helped if not forced into being part of a social network. The experience with Strava felt like more work than one of my intense workouts. This was very disappointing. I used the app for only a little over a week of the free one month trial before deleting my account and the app.

Amazing. If you're just getting into running or cycling, or if you're already an avid runner or cyclist, this app is for you. Compare stats from your activities with your friends and compete for segments through this god-tier app. It can get dangerous though, and some of the downhill cycling segments glorify breaking the law; blowing through stop signs at high speed and turning public roads into a race course all for showing off a new kom to your friends. Other than that, everything is very safe and the community behind strava and the interactions between athletes is what really counts. Getting kudos to someone after a hard workout can feel rewarding in both directions. So hit that 'get app' button, create an account and dole out a few kudos. Most importantly, have fun and stay safe!

Doesn't work with watch and phone together. You have to pick recording a run/cycle on either the watch app or the phone app. You can't view the map or stats on the phone while also recording heart rate data on the watch at the same time. Kind of lame. Also, allowing data to be written to the Health app causes data overlap when recording with the phone, where the calories burned are added from the Strava app, but also added from the watch's "active energy" reading. I've ended up using the Exercise app on the watch to record the workout to Apple Health with heart rate data, while using Strava with Health permissions disabled on the phone just to track the route. Which kind of makes purchasing Premium pointless

Ok, but missing some functions. I started using Strava only because endomondo was retired. I am a multi sport person and really enjoyed endomondos statistics section that added your weekly activities and you could filter on different things like duration or km. Also I really miss tennis is a registered sport. I quite like the recent upgrade, that shows all of your weekly activities across the 12 week spectrum, but tennis ends up under “workout” which isn’t very interesting. I was quite happy to pay for the pro version of endomondo because of the great statistics you got. I’ve tested the subscription version of Strava and can’t quite see the value in the extra functions. They weren’t anything I actually used. I don’t mind paying in order to support the app development, but then I need to feel like I’m getting at least something useful in return.

Pretty good app with great integrations. I have always used other apps in the past for tracking activities but I primarily moved over to Strava for integrations like Charity Miles where I can track things but also do it for charity while still having visibility on stats for me. I think Strava is great at the basics and I have loved being able to do work outs with people and how easy it is to include others so you don’t both have to track the same route. All that being said I have struggled with the interface both app and online in understanding how to see certain stats or PR times. From taking time I have found some of the things but it’s not as straight forward as other tools I have used. Maybe it’s behind the premium paywall but I do miss things from other apps but again the charity miles integration is keeping me here.

Love to use it, but hate the bugs. I really enjoy the social side of sharing workouts with my friends in a non-competitive setting. This app does well to try and push the positives of being active and not expressing the negatives as much (ex. Being over competitive, putting yourself above others, and shaming peers in passive ways). It can be very easy to start putting yourself above others when you start to work out more and feel the confidence building in your ego. Anyways, my main gripe is that there are a plethora of bugs lying between the iphone app and the apple watch app. It would be really nice to see the transition from one to the other feel more cohesive and seamless. I have not tried the Samsung side of things with these apps so I cannot say this is all of Strava. I just wish and hope for a more attention to the iOS platform. I don't know, maybe allow us to edit/crop an activity more than just the start and end of it. I have days where I walk a ton for work and like to record the when day but have to drive intermittently during that period of time and it gets included in the final post, then gets flagged. I would love to post edit the activity more. The pause option isn't enough for me as I get too busy and don't have time to go towards that.

Update makes more work. I would normally give Strava 4 or 5 stars: it’s a good app to track walking/hiking, runs, and cycling. The segment feature is actually interesting and useful to track performance along various parts of a route, and it may inspire some friendly competition or help set a goal. The interface is easy to use, though swapping from the stats view to the map can happen accidentally. But with the latest update, once you finish recording an activity, it immediately uploads it. The screen where you can title, add comments, and change who can view now has to be accessed by editing the activity. I don’t appreciate being required to hop through extra screens to title my activities and add comments. If there were a way to instruct Strava on how to title something, it would be a little more bearable. But lacking that feature, it’s quite irritating.

Not worth it anymore. Been a member since 2011. Recently decided to sign up for a paid subscription, since that’s the only way to get all the features I used to get for free anymore, and decided to start with the free trial. This is the beginning of the end for me: somehow, when I started the free trial, it started a new account for me. My rides no longer record on my original account. In order to look at my rides I have to go to my original account, click on “suggested” friends to follow, find my name and click on the “new” account. I notified customer support, went back and forth with them but I never got any real help and their tips never came close to solving my issue of wanting to merge accounts. I’m at the point now when the trial ends, in September, I will be deleting both of my accounts. I will not pay a monthly fee for such worthless customer support. I will be losing over a decade of friends, rides, runs, a triathlon, PR’s, and routes that I was happy to have. Pretty bummed.

Loved this app…then updates😩. I have used Strava for several years now, however the most recent update leaves me wondering 'WHHHYYY'? LOL I use this app for biking, running, & workouts. Now when I chose a 'workout' and select to finish the workout, it gives me a message that it has not detected any change in my location…resume or discard. Well…if I am working out w/ weights in my basement, I am not changing locations🤦🏽‍♀️ First time this happened to me I did not want to lose my workout info, so I just kept app on pause until I had to get in car for an errand near my house. Guess what…it let me save workout once I got to a new location a few miles away. What is purpose of this? Very annoying. I did an indoor run on treadmill…was able to save as in past. Did not ask me for a new location. Please fix this glitch.

Diminishing returns. Updated review. I have tried the subscription again and cancelled. There are just too many competing services that do what Strava does, but better. I still don’t like that features that were free continue to be put behind a paywall. And their training plans are a joke. Used to be the greatest addition to my workouts. More and more features are removed and the subscription service has been all over the place for the last few years. Final nail in the coffin for me is that they removed functionality to push data to apple health and my Apple Watch. Workouts no longer sync to my fitness app on my Apple Watch. Calories are no longer tracked. Strava also removed the ability to use cadence and other heart rate straps. I’ve downgraded to a non-paying member since all of the features are included with garmin connect. I will most likely stop using Strava because of them discontinuing functionality with apple fitness.

Map My Run is better. I’ve been using my Polar HR monitor and Garmin HR monitor for running and cycling respectively. While the Garmin usually syncs up within a few minutes of finishing the ride, every time without fail since 2017 I’ve had to manually reconnect my Bluetooth as it doesn’t want to connect. If I were to not go back and connect the second Bluetooth device (it shows up as two for some reason and just bc one is connected doesn’t mean the other is), my ride would never make it to strava. My Polar is even worse with Strava. Not only do I get the aforementioned problems (admittedly not as frequently), this particular bug is the worst for me. Sometimes the Polar workouts just straight up never upload to strava no matter what device I use to export the activity. Why is Strava not trying to improve this issue that’s been ongoing for over a year? They go to the effort to analyzing data and incorporating some graphs but what about the user experience? I now use one of the two competing apps and both HR monitors work fine.

The go-to competitive activity tracker; finally improving UI. I’ve used the app for years and has been a pivotal part of my running and cycling experience. At its core, it’s pretty good at logging your activities and recording your performance on prepare segments. I have been disappointed with some of the a features that could have been added over the last several years. Some of the community growing and actual evolution into a social network feels lacking and contributes to feel like a club of the same very specific people. That said, they’ve been doing a nice job in the last 6 months with brightening up the app, improving some of the core features and experience. There haven’t been the same core changed to the platform that I really would have liked to see but I have hope that we’re making more progress and

Kinda Big Kinda Small Issue. Alright so I’m a runner in highschool and we use this app as a way to take countability for all of our runs and workouts, but lately it hasn’t been working too well. My school is doing a 100 day challenge throughout all sports and inorder for me to win this, I need to log in my stuff everyday, but I can’t. The app will freeze and kick me out for days, or I’ll be on it mid recording and it’ll log me out. I reinstalled it already once, and I’m now having to do it again. The reason was because I was on someone’s account giving a “Kudos” and the app just did it. It just kicked me saying, “you’ll need to reinstall due to your data not loading in.”This is a great app, but this definitely needs to change or become better in some way..

Beyond annoyed- just downloaded and only crashes. I have tried deleting and redownloading this app over 5 times today. It has not opened once. I see the giant orange screen with Strava pop up and then it crashes ever single time. If it wasn’t for the fact my colleagues I know uses it and we were hoping to compete I would have just moved on to another app. Absolute waste of my time. My phone is fine, my storage is fine I’ve even reset my phone and tested other apps to make it was nothing else. And nope just Strava is crashing. Now not only will I have to use another app - my colleagues who are using will use that app with me so we can all compete together. I.e you just lost a lot of users. I’ve been searching online for a fix and keep seeing others complaining of crashing. If you can help great I’ll give it a try but if not please do something about this Apple or Strava. Oh and before you blame the “user” I work in tech and very familiar with troubleshooting, etc.

Locking everything behind a paywall ain’t cool... I’ve been using strava for 3+ years now, and was a premium subscriber for 2 of those years. I used Strava to train for my first marathon run and the insights and stats linked with my watch were invaluable. However, life events happen and I cut back on some extra spending, including unsubscribing from Strava premium (it’s pretty expensive). Now, I’m realizing everything is locked behind a paywall. I can’t even see my best efforts now?? That’s a bit much. I get that certain features are premium tier (3D maps, effort levels), but things like best efforts and leaderboards should NOT be premium only. This is exploitation and although a lot of people will cave in the short term it will lead to a decrease in subscribers in the long run as people find other apps that don’t paywall basic features.

Feedback: app description needs to be clear about free vs subscription features. The app description needs to make it clear which specific features are provided in the free version and which are only in the subscription version. As it currently is the description is extremely vague in this regard and the only way is to find out is to download the app and waste time trying out all the features. Given the vagueness of the description it seems likely the free version is effectively useless and downloading it will be a waste of time. Be transparent! Current subscription tier is silly expensive for people who just like to ride their bike and are curious how far they went. Most people aren’t training for a triathlon or something serious enough to justify the current subscription cost. At $80/ year users would be smarter to buy the low end Apple Watch to track their rides for free. Suggest you make a version that doesn’t let the user share their runs/rides and doesn’t take up server costs so the user doesn’t cost you ongoing expense. Just have the data on device so no server load. Allow export to a csv file. No expensive subscription needed. Make this subscription tier $10/year to contribute towards ongoing development. By the way, having the privacy settings all default to *least private* mode is rude and backwards. This should be fixed.

Decent but lacking lots. Strava does the most basic functions of workout tracker fairly well. Interface is easy to use and I really enjoy the popular segment feature. There are however some pretty normal features Strava does not support or incorporate. For example: Most of my workouts I’m not so much concerned about my mile pace as just seeing my total workout and total time spent running. However, Strava even after turning the autopause feature off does server side autopause no matter what unless you also mark a workout as a race. Why? Turning autopause off should be enough to not give me any autopauses. Another biggie is adding manual workouts. Too often especially in the winter in sub 30° weather my phone dies so I need to go in and add a manual workout afterwards. However, Strava does not support mapped manual workouts. You can only add total distance and time worked out into a manual workout. Why? If I knew my distances without a tracking app I wouldn’t use a tracking app. A simple map tool to add the route I ran and calculating the distance for me seems pretty basic. I deleted Strava after their most recent update completely bricked the app for iOS 11.2.5 users and it’s been 4 days since that and their has been no new update to fix the issue. That’s unacceptable for an app that most of us use daily. Way too many other run trackers out there for me to wait a week for Strava to get the app unbricked.

Going Backwards. I have used Strava for years and really liked the social aspect of it but they have been slowly deleting features or moving them from free to paid versions. I don’t expect you offer most premium product for free but rolling out features in the free version and then later moving it to the paid product is irritating. Especially when some of those features are not particularly premium. Want to compare your most recent jog around the neighborhood to prior ones? Cough up $60 a year! What!? I don’t need all the training plans and stuff of the paid version. Maybe you could have more than 1 paid tier? I could go on and on, like how they ruined the Apple Watch app, took away BT HR sensors etc. The latest outrage for me is they announce to great fanfare they bought back BT HR sensors, huzzah! Except it doesn’t work. This feature worked totally fine when you removed it a while ago and now you re-introduce a non-functioning feature? Ugh, you guys are killing me. Why do I keep using this?!

Great app, but has lost most of its value for me. A lot of functionality is paywalled now. I’ve done the free trial and paid for a few extra months on top of that. However, none of that functionality seems worth what you pay - like not even close. The app would be a no question subscription if it was $5 or $6 at the very most. They want double this so I doubt I’ll ever see them come down. My guess is that Strava doesn’t really care about those using the app for workouts and have begun to target those training for competition. Probably a fair idea since they will pay any premium to be on the social network. If you’re looking to track your rides for free or at a low cost, this isn’t your app - I suggest looking elsewhere. I’ll probably move off the app since I’m not going to pay to compare myself to friends who have also moved on or don’t pay either.

Good, hoping it gets better. I’ve used strava for a decade now. The app is decent but there are some things that you have to use the web to do. Why? Shouldn’t be that hard to have the whole website functionality. I’ve always used a third party site to fully analyze my strava data. I wish main strava did a better job comparing large chunks of data. Like I want to quickly see my 2012, 2015 and 2020 cycling data: Ten seconds with the third party. If that’s even possible with strava, it’s certainly not quick and easy. Want to see heart rate trend over time? Forget about that with main strava. The data is there ... let me mine it! I don’t particularly care about competition but I do like to see my data over time. I have strava premium to just support the team and see where it goes, don’t really currently care about the premium features.
