No crazy fees or exchange rates. I been looking for a way to send money to a bank account in the Philippines where there was no crazy fees, exchange rates and take days to deliver the money. That’s is how I came across WU once again. I’ve used them several years ago before they had an app. Never had an issue back then so I decided to try them once again. To my surprise the money was deliver within a couple hours even tho I got an email it said it was going to be deliver the next day. I did send the money to a BPI account and if you read the disclaimers it says that for BPI it would take about 2 hours and any money sent after the first transaction it will take a couple minutes. I will be giving this a try next time I send money and give an update if it does takes minutes. If it does then it would be the easiest I've sent money.

System and customer service not helpful. It took me almost 2 days to send money to the Philippines. It always gives me a prompt that their system are having technical difficulties . I tried calling the number that was on their website, the first rep was not at all helpful, he’s giving me a number to call instead , so I wrote down the number only to find out that it’s the same number that I just called that’s why I was talking to him. The second one was telling me that I put the wrong purpose, how can you put choices there when it’s wrong, so I asked if he can stay on the line while I’m trying to do what he’s suggesting to me, but he said no because he has another customer to help. Wow! So what I did was while he was talking I was trying to do it using his suggestions but still it doesn’t work. So he just suggested to try again later. I just said thanks. So frustrating considering that the money will be used asap for our property tax. We are avoiding penalty for late payment.

Awful experience with money order refund. I sent them a request for a refund for my money order and payed for same day shipping on the 17th of march today is the 28th of April and I still haven’t received my refund yet after I was told my request was excepted and was being sent my way they send me a email saying they can’t send me my refund because I have no proof that I paid for the money order even though I had to put my money order number down on the request form I was told that wasn’t enough to except my request, I have been waiting 42 days for my refund to pay my rent and they aren’t taking it serious to send my refund back even though I have done everything I’m supposed to be doing I even told them in my description of what happened that it was for my rent and my apartment was threatening to evict me show the importance of why I need my refund back they don’t care about give people their money back only taking it so annoying will never recommend anyone going to them with your money they don’t care about you only keeping your money

Too much confusion. Whenever I try to remit money from my bank account in USA to my bank account in India, it will ask me to fill the address of receiver and phone number in India. I do not have a phone number in India. Somehow , sent than WU will hold my money even small amount like $155 or so. I have to call WU and reply will be that they will take action in 24 hours and so. I do no not understand this. I am sending a small amount to my bank account in India from my bank account in USA. What’s wrong ? My background, social security, id all is with WU. That’s funny and disgusting to hold money . They should go and catch people who are living in USA illegally and sending money to their countries or catch them who are doing money laundering. I use WU because it cost me very less like $2.99 compared to my bank charges. Any way , thanks to WU for less charges for remittances.

not intutive. I wanted to update my new address and enter a new card. Life of me, I cold not do it in the app. I called for help and was told to create a new account altogether, which erased the past history. Now I could not enter the new card. Another help call and this time I was told that a new card can only be saved AFTER I have sent money, it could not be on file in advance, like all other companies I know of. This could have been clarified on the app page to save me the aggravation of repeated trials and phone calls. Finally I created a transaction but again a small box within the bank text message was missed. I only found out by calling the help line again to be told that there was no vestige of the transaction in their computer. Here I was, very cocer ed that if I repeat the process again , I may be duplicating the amount sent. Back to help call and finally resolved the issue. And may I remind you that I am no novice at creating on line payments. Honestly, would you call your app intutive?

They will give you a hard time. If i can just rate them right now i will give a 0 rating… been using it since 2017 and now that i am sending a quite amount of money due to urgency of its need they are giving me a hard time. My bank account is good and i am using a debit card that for sure is more than enough for the transfer…but they keep on declining it even though my bank said they approved it several times as i kept on trying it several times… they said that you could send up to 19k dollars which are just bogus because just a quarter of that amount they wouldn’t let it go through… not dependable at all for your loved ones. They are saying that they are just protecting you from fraud (not true at all!) my bank should be the one doing it but my bank is approving it since i gave my authorization… when they were asked about it all the agents ate giving different stories of the problem and the last thing i found out is that they are having issues with the system… so what will i believe? All their crazy alibis… incompetent app that’s what i can say right now… so upset that i want to sue them for the inconvenience they caused me.

Doesn’t work. After multiple attempts to send money this app has not been successful even once. On the first two attempts WU indicated they needed more information, which was provided. The questions were intrusive but they were answered. E.g. How long have you known the recipient? Over a decade...but whether it is one day or a decade, it is not the business of Western Union. Despite providing answers to Western Union questions the transactions were cancelled by Western Union, and they refused to provide an explanation. The next transaction Western Union claims was stopped by the bank because there was an extra 0 in front of the account number. If there was a zero it did not come from the sender. Upon inquiry the bank referred recipient to WU. The next attempt was stopped by WU with a statement that additional information was needed from sender, and they were not able to contact senders cell phone. Sender’s phone did not show a call from WU and no voicemail was left. There appears to be no interest by WU in resolving this. Two customers known to each other for over a decade are totally unable to exchange a nominal amount of money between their two bank accounts using this App. From my perspective this App rates a total FAIL. I am at a loss to know how anyone is able to get satisfactory results from this App.

I transferred an amount to Sudan three days ago, and the receiver was not able to receive the money for two consecutive days and until this comment was written. The employees of the agency, located in the city of Wadmadani, in central Sudan, explain that there is no money, no electricity, or no internet, and yesterday they reported that they are on vacation without an occasion. This is the worst way to transfer money to Sudan, as you have to waste a lot of money and time to receive an amount that must be delivered immediately at the moment of transfer, according to what the site says when transferring from the bank card account or bank account. The work crews of Sudanese agencies must be changed so that your services are not dispensed with and an alternative is found.

A dangerous for one’s life and well-being app. Plus very slow. I’ve been using this app for about 7 month and I’ve been sending regularly once or twice per month money to 2 people only. Yet every single time the transfers go through an approval process that takes somewhere between 2 and 3 hours. Although the advertised availability time is in minutes. I guess they mean hundreds of minutes, but they should at least disclose this fact. However the most dangerous part of this service is that occasionally I’d reach a hidden limit of the amount that I can send and the transaction would be cancelled without letting ANYONE know. My friends live in a war torn Ukraine and every time they go on the streets they risk their lives, yet western union would send me confirmation that the money are available and then when my friends arrive to the location the agent would say the transaction was cancelled. So they have to come back home without money and food for their child. This is an extremely irresponsible approach to doing business.

Human Error. I give this app three stars because although it does what it is intended to do it makes me upset that I had to delete my account that I had just created because I wasn’t able to correct the spelling in my name. I called the number the provide and they weren’t able to correct it either. They did suggest I delete my account and start over which I was okay with. After I hang up I log out and see if my account was deleted. As soon as I hit login, the Face ID feature logs me right in. So my account is still active. I disabled the Face ID feature and tried using my password. That didn’t work... awesome I thought. Then I goo to create another account and typed everything correctly,. The app then tells me my email is being used on another account. So my previous account is still active. This blows. So I ended up using a different email.. which I I didn’t want to do.

Cancelled transactions. Sending WU to Ukraine has not been consistent. WU can cancel transaction without explanation. Yes, they refund minus the transaction fee, but they are horrible in telling you why? I want to know why so we can have corrective measures in place. It was cancelled every time when my friend in Ukraine was trying to retrieve it. WU can also not explain why transaction can be for most part be instant or take 4-5 days. No consistency and sloppy platform. Update: I did speak with supervisor at WU, but they can only tell me it was a compliance issue. That is all they would tell me. They also told me that WU has some issues in certain Ukraine cities. However, that was not the case here because others received WU at the same bank. Bottom line is that I still can’t send money to my friend in Ukraine who desperately needs it. Russians destroyed her whole city. She lost everything. She is of course no longer in Russian occupied territory. WU can only tell me it would be resolved at some time. So what does that mean? Next week? Next month? I can understand that scams are rampant nowadays, but for me WU is useless because they did not resolve my issue and provide no tools to resolve issue.

The customer service is horrendous!. I swear, the people they have outsourced this work to get off on messing with the customers. I sent money and they kept telling the receiver the money was available but when he would go into the various locations because they said to try another location it wouldn’t work. We both tried calling at least 10 times each and spoke to a different customer service rep each time. Not all of them were bad, but I’d say about half really don’t care, and seem to get some sort of pleasure messing with Americans. I’m sure there are plenty of Americans, but regardless, there are nice ones too, and I was nice each time. MoneyGram is the way to go by far! You can speak to the operator through their Mobile app and the process is flawless. Far better than my experience using WU. Plus, there is a stigma about using this service as every location I went I got the stank eye like I was criminal commuting a crime. They don’t like doing WU at any store I used.

Update Your App. I have been trying to send money thru Western Union for almost a month now and still no luck. Apparently there’s a different site or app in every country. Like when you download this app, it automatically registers to United States so of course the default is USD and I can’t change it. Thing is, I am here in New Zealand. I asked for customer support. I did a live chat with their rep and good thing they provided me a link to open the new zealand site. I registered in the NZ app and was so happy when it changed to NZD. But! I couldn’t proceed to sending money because they only accept NZ drivers license and NZ issued passport as a valid document for identification. Like how about us who’s only here for a work visa? I don’t have those two docs. We just want to send money to our families back home. So please, I hope you can do something in your app or have a standard app for all. Where we have the option to select what currency we send and receive. And you should also recognize any valid passport from different countries coz not all living in one country are citizens there. Now I have no choice but use other apps.

Customer service is Disrespectful. I send money that was suppose to reach in 0-2 days and it was not get there in time which I paid for I call customer service and the rep told me it would now take 7day and in the app it says 0-2 day how miss leasing is that I demanded her to explain that to me why is WesternUnion taking money for services they can’t provide she said thank u goodbye and hang up on me wow how dare that worker to be so rude this is unacceptable something needs to be done about this I am now currently to see where my money went why is is taking so long is it a scam I honestly think WesternUnion is running a scam at this point if u can’t explain to me where my money went I as a hard working black man I have the rite to ask about my money I am paying for a service that clearly no worker at WesternUnion union care about consumers and I will be recording each call moving fwd everyone

Unsafe and hackable App/No support. DO NOT download this app because it is not safe. Hackers can hack it and steal your money and information. I have been a WesternUnion customer for the past 13 years, and someone from Ecuador hacked the app using my login information. In the app, customers can save their banking information to make it easier to send money. So, I had saved my banking info in there thinking like it was safe to do. Last Saturday, this hacker got in to my WesternUnion account and sent money to themselves. When I called WesternUnion customer service, they said that they can’t do anything about it because the person already picked up the money. They asked me to call my bank and FBI to report the fraud. To my surprise, WesternUnion doesn’t have any insurance for the types of fraudulent problems when they occur. So, if you want to avoid being in my stressful financial problems, do yourself a favor NOT to download this app. It’s better and safer to go to a physical WesternUnion office to send money to your love ones. However, if you do download this app you’ll find yourself in the same financial stress I am. Just an advised from a longtime customer. SL

Excellent!. Excellent app!!!! The only reason I did not give this app 5 stars is because the bank-to-bank transfer is -very slow-, and takes -several- days as opposed to transfer to person for pickup which happens in minutes. Also the bank-to-bank transfer keeps showing up as “In progress” with absolutely no indication on the app of an ETA on when the receiver will get it in their bank. This needs to get fixed. There should also be a warning to the user who tries Bank-to-Bank transfer via the app saying something like “Important Note: Bank-to-Bank transfers can take up to several days to complete. There will be absolutely no ETA provided to you in the app about when your user will get it in their bank, and it will get to the bank of receiver when possible. You will not be given any explanation about why it might be delayed either.” That kind of detailed warning message would help users decide that they probably don’t want to use that feature at all, especially if they need to send money out to someone very quickly. I for sure would not have used the bank-to-bank transfer feature if I found out that my receiver would have to wait SEVERAL days to get the money. Not acceptable sorry. Other than that, this app is fantastic!!! Thank you Western Union!

Hope critical error is fixed now. Also, rewards?. I have been LOVING the ease of using this to send urgently needed donations to my Orphanage Project oversight minister in Uganda who also feeds multiple desperate widows. Recently, we were below our lowest basic donation goal (Orphanage rent and food) and had to delay our payment by a week until I could get payment from a personal job to cover it all. When I finally had my minister travel from remote villages to his WU pickup, he was again delayed a day (or two ihdk) due to a malfunctioning app. We had a bishop get to a WU site Stateside to get a partial payment to him, but the unfortunate delay was much to ask of he and the orphans after the complications already proceeding this event. *I haven’t figured out how to get the rewards applied to discount our fees either. I’ve tried several times. I’m usually not inept at these things. Perhaps that could be easier? Otherwise, four and a half to five stars

WU blames WG for their issue. I downloaded the app as so many people have said it is slick. First time I go to send money with WU it doesn’t work. Walgreens employees were very nice, but say WU is down and it may be 5 minutes or 5 hours; they did say sometimes it is just the store and I may have luck at another Walgreens. So I drive to the next closest WG location and WU is down there as well. Informed that HyVee can send so I drive there. HyVee is VERY rude and almost mad I wanted to send WU; they say I can only pay bill or get money order. I call WU and after 5 minutes of automation finally talk to a person who says WG does not have ability to complete app, but that I could drive to ANOTHER HyVee. When I corrected her (according to locations on WU app) she said I should return to WG and have them call WU!!! Why would I have WG call them when I just DID; why could she just not help me? She said if I sent it with her it would be more expensive! It’s not MY FAULT that their system was down. I spent 2 hours trying to get it to work; they obviously do not want my money or business as they did not make it any easier for me when their system was having trouble. So frustrating...think I will use PayPal, ApplePay, Venmo, or literary a wire transfer next time. 😡

Great app. Use it every time i send money to the philippines. I can either use my debit card, credit card, apple pay, bank account to send money towards the philippines. Receiver can receive it as cash or right through their bank account. They only charge $4.99 from my debit card and i usually send money to different people in $100 amounts and they can get the money in minutes. If from my bank to receiver cash they charge $3.99 or $2.99 if less than $2,999 amount is sent. receiver will get it in a few days. I don’t have to go to the currency exchange anymore to send money. This app is very convenient and also cost effective and never time consuming, plus i can see my history anytime and they save the names of the people i send money to. They also save my payment info for easier use.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I don’t normally leave reviews but hopefully I can save someone else the headache before downloading this app. I set up a money transfer to a friend, because cash app was not working properly. After confirming everything we found out it would take days for him to receive it. I’m not going to wait days to send someone 25$ I went to the help forum that clearly states a money transfer can be canceled if it has not been deposited or picked up. So I started a chat with an agent. Gave her the same tracking number multiple times(I guess she couldn’t type it in right) copied and pasted straight from the app. Just to say the same thing I’ve and over “I have checked your money and it is scheduled to be deposited” that’s it no expectation. I even copied and pasted WesternUnion policy on cancellation and she still refused to do anything. I asked for a supervisor and simply got a response saying my supervisor said the same thing. Sheer laziness and poor policy and garbage UI/app design cost me two hours and 30$ I’ll never get back

Absolutely unprofessional customer service. Just like the previous review indicated, customer service was horrible. It tied to find out what has happened to two transfers I initiated. Money were taken out of my account but never made it to destination. I called customer service multiple times and a person would hang phone stating “call back with correct transaction number”. The transaction number, I provided, was actually correct. Sending money “in minutes” turned into endless struggle. For unknown reason money were not given to receiver and my transaction was cancelled. I also emailed customer service, and my transactions were found. Yay! No full refund either. I was notified that I received refund and I would need to go to WU location to receive my refund. Of course, it is only partial amount. Who calculated what happened to rest of the money? How many fees were I charged? I will never find out. Second transfer was cancelled also for unknown reason and I am still waiting for “refund” over week now. Again, money “ in minutes”... I will never use the service again. I already found and use much more reliable, fast and less expensive service. I do not recommend using WU.

Worst App Ever For Big Amount Transfer!. My first and Third small amount transaction went through fine while my 2nd transaction Still stuck on “on hold” status for 8 days!!! I talked to 8, 9 agents and chat with 2, 3 agents just to try to make my transaction work again, and you know what? Everytime I called them, they gave me a different story line, either I need to send my ID, or they had my ID but the other department will need it, or they approved it, just need to wait. I sent it over the app, and 2 different email from WU, waited more days then they wanted me to!! They now email me back to make me call them Again?? they litterally saying it would be done after my ID sent, I called 5 time over a week, and none of them know exactly what’s going on on my account. They took my money out of my bank account already for 4 days, but my transaction is still “On Hold”. What do you actually want me to do? Call another agent again? I really believe that some random responses for this review will start with (sorry for…. Please call our agent…) what is a joke.

App doesn’t communicate with app accurately. Every time I do a money transfer with WW I have same problem. There’s no option to redeem your points while you are doing the transaction. I have to cancel the transaction and go to the main menu of the app and start all over again. Also, it’s kind of confusing how sometimes adds the last name twice and attaches it like a middle name to the name. For instance, I send money to South America which requires me to add their middle name plus two last names one is paternal and the maternal one. Very frustrating and to change that you have to create a new contact and still doesn’t work right. Why they don’t have a different layout that is easier to add the name, middle name and last name instead of the “surname” ??? It took me 40’ to send money every time. And at the other side I always have problems with their name because it wasn’t written in the right order. I hope this one goes through .

Worst thing for higher transactions. I have been doing transfers since 3 years from Western Union and never saw a problem and that's why I have an extra 2 stars, unfortunately I can't give 0 stars. And now I made a bigger transaction and that is when all the problems started. Everytime I call a new time frame is provided. Need to beg for my own money to be available in my destination bank account. Such a waste of time. All my commitments I made because of the initial time frame given are reflecting back on me with penalties. I would suggest people to use other platforms for bigger transactions. Such a great lesson for a customer who is reliable with them since 3 years. Thanks for backing yourself Everytime with new timeframe. These guys are so intelligent, first they give destination county time zone for the money to be available, then they change to source country time zone, then they will give some random time in the morning, then some random time in the afternoon, again a random time in the night and now they ask me to wait for the end of the day. Didn't know I have to beg or make so many calls to ask for my money. Thanks for teaching me a lesson.

Editing issue of my profile. When setting up the profile of the account as a first time user of the previous version, I entered my nickname and after all said & done, I had realized that my full name was the ideal option as it has to match w my government issued ID for verification purposes. A day later I tried to Edit my profile to correct the name, but it didn’t let me and with that frustration, I quit using the app and instead switched to the alternative option of calling and paying in person at a register of a local business that offers WU service. More than once I had to call twice to speak to a Rep in person bc the Automated service didn’t get my full name nor my Receiver’s full name correctly. We have long names. However w/frequent use it was happening less often until I didn’t need to send money anymore. I’m giving 3 stars bc while I could never use the app on the other hand the concept and efficiency of service in the option of placing call via automated service-Agent & in person cashier, was relatively good. I upgraded to the latest version and will give it a try correcting my profile. If I can’t even do that & issue persists, I’ll get rid of this app.

First time (and last time) user. I was trying to help a friend with an emergency by sending him money and never having sent funds using Western Union before I had to quickly complete the registration process, naturally selecting the option to send from my bank account vs. a credit card. The bank account option said transfers would take 0-4 days. What I know of Western Union is that it’s a fast way to send money. So, figuring that it was early in the day, on Friday, my friend would get it today. Except that’s not the case at all! So I cancelled the transaction and learned that the $9 (RIP-OFF) fee won’t be refunded! PayPal, Messenger, and Zelle don’t even charge a fee to transfer money from a bank account! Western Union does and they don’t even refund it when they clearly have not processed anything! So I had to use my debit card and pay $15 to send the money immediately. “SEND IN MINUTES” is the tag line. Now I’m waiting to finish this review to tell you “how many” minutes it takes. 29 minutes. Not bad, but Western Union should really refund the transfer fee. That’s an old business model.

Mr. Roy love III. I have attempted to send money via this app quite a few times. They list the payment as ready to be released but when family members go to western union to collect western union tells them That the payment was cancelled! Even though the app indicates the money is ready for payment. After calling their customer service number you find out that their security department has decided to cancel the payment as possible fraud. Sending money to my old aunt in Minnesota!!! No e-mail, text message or any indication that the payment has been cancelled until you find out from the recipient notifying that the cash cannot be released. Talk to a supervisor is useless, obviously WU does not trust their frontline management to correct the problem. So there you are a 78 year old aunt taking a bus to pick up money that western Union deemed suspicious and cancels the payment without the simple courtesy of letting the sender know via a call, text or e-mail. After this happening three times I decided to use MoneyGram without a hitch. I would not use western union again for any reason.

I used to live this company. When I was a student and had to use it. Now I mostly use PayPal. I tried to send money for a housewarming gift to a friend in the Ukraine with these guys. I put in my cc number, they gave me a tracking number. My friend was supposed to show up with a valid ID to pick the money up (in as quickly as four minutes). Simple right? Instead they told her that my name was in “the system”. Kept her there for an hour. Told her it was because my “name is not American” (ironically I am actually pretty American have like to think I’ve done a lot for my country). Then they sent her away, telling her to go to a “big bank” after the weekend. So though as an American working with an American company I think the whole thing is way too racist, I wrote to them semi nicely. Once on their Facebook page, and once again in a review for they sent me. They answered once. Some one-liner. Saying something completely unrelated, that they’d like to remind me that BOTH parties, the sender and receiver, have to show IDs. They didn’t even bother to read my email. And now I’m kinda ticked off enough to send all this to an attorney and sue them. This could have been some underprivileged immigrant mother sending hotel money to her broke kid (in which case she would have been homeless for a couple of days, because to Western Union agent on the Ukraine, deemed her name “not American enough”. May I add again that they didn’t even read my complaint?

Worst customer service ever!!!!. Hi, maybe I can actually reach a person here. Bought a money order to pay a bill but my fiancé did as well. We were told to write it to ourselves and take it to where we purchased it. So we did, Kroger grocery store #686 Taylor Mi. They told us we had to wait 48 hours exactly from purchase date… come back and then STILL would not cash it. Try calling western union customer service… good luck with that! No way to talk to anyone. Took it to my bank, fidelity investments, they would not cash it due to money order fraud happening. Two days of trying to contact anyone, called, chat, anything and everything. Website was down to do the form online. I mean I tried EVERYTHING! This was my Christmas money for my family. $600 might not be much to western union but it meant the world to my kids. Finally got the online form for a refund to work…. 30 days. Absolutely the worst! I will never buy a money order again! I suggest you don’t either!

Ads. My WesternUnion app has became another place for those stupid ads. I can’t even do business without have to answer questions about stupid ads. If I wanted those, I would go do it myself. This is ridiculous. I hate it. Also also I made a mistake one time send annette 3 to 4 business days because it took seven business days and that’s not counting the weekend. The last time I paid for in minutes I want my wife went to pick it up the place that they didn’t have any money, not even half of it. I paid for in minutes do you think they’d refund my feet? Do anything to make something right no. And you’re supposed to be able to go in there with the ID and your ID and the Lady in there quiz my wife who I was why am I sending her the money? I’m very frustrated. Yes, I am older and I’ve been doing business with them for over 50 years. It seems like whoever is running to WesternUnion now pride that they had years ago to make sure everything was done, right. Do you want my wife to go to the store and then have that lady called into the main office and explain to them why they didn’t have any money. Seems to me if I was part of the WesternUnion I’d be calling him myself to find out what’s going on. Just said how things change over the years said to see it, go down the hill.

Service for me has been nonexistent.. I have been back and forth for several weeks and day after day with the email Customer Care and 2 or 3 times with the call in techs still no fix for my issue. Thing is it wasn’t a problem until someone at WU decided to lock me out from sending transfers from my account for reasons unknown to me. I complained several months ago, word came back that my account was clear since then I have not been able to send anything from any device I log in from. I get to the point of finalizing the transaction sometimes after selecting the recipient or as far as selecting my pay card going to review then I always get (something went wrong try again later) and that is as far as I can go. I have tried everything I have been told to try and it never gets fixed. If it had never been messed with for no reason I would not have this problem no one can seem to fix. Uninstalling , using a different browser or device makes no different. It does the same when logging in online.

Western Union Just Works. I have a fiancé that lives in Colombia I have spent months trying to figure out how to send money to her without getting slapped with not only exchange rate fees, but processing fees, transfer fees and since we are taking fees, fees. When you think Western Union stores you initially think expensive, which is why I avoided it. I highly doubt walking into an actual store or any other app on the planet would charge less than the $3, I spent on fees. This rate is less than most ATM fees and it gives me leverage as to what I can send and the frequency. I couldn’t believe it, they also throw in customized e-cards and you can earn “unlocks” as you go. This gives the process warmth. Last thought on this. I think Western Union should offer point to point virtual and physical debit cards prepaid, checking or otherwise similar to CashApp but with International support. This would change the game and the world as WISE to my knowledge is the only one in the game. As far as this app? It just works and that’s all I want and you do too.

BEWARE TOTAL SCAM AND RIPOFF!. Simply put, the most horrible experience I have ever had with an app and the customer service was just plain evil. My account was “hacked” and $733 USD taken from my debit card. No one cared. They kept accusing ME. I never shared any info on my account with anyone. Clearly an inside job. Horrible experience. Do not put your private credit/debit card info info this app. You will be ripped off! They just kept me on the phone for 45 minutes and did nothing to shut down the account to stop the process. They kept telling me to get to a computer. I literally had to beg them to shut down the account from their end as I was not able to access a computer then. From the time the transaction accessed my account to the time the person picked up money in the Ukraine? 30 Minutes! They could have stopped the transaction before the actual pickup of cash. No, I’m not kidding about the Ukraine! Ofcourse it was a scam all along. I thought Western Union was a trusted brand and company. Wrong!!!! Total ripoff!! My bank is investigating and said there have been many others with this app and company. Never ever let them store your financial info. BEWARE!!!

Fees Too High Buggy App. I hate this app! I have over 3300 points that should reduce fees upon trying to redeem them the app says my bank declined the transaction, lies.. it seems if the app is designed for you to pay the most astronomical fees ever it will not allow you to apply your promo points to reduce the feed I think that’s a very shady business practice and I’m tired of companies like WU that need to be put on blast with the FCC for unsavory business practices! The app is buggy & for American users the fees are astronomical which does not make sense because if you are using the app the fee should be almost the same as in store (3$) or lower because you are using THE APP and paying directly. I don’t understand why you have to pay such high fees to send money within the US via the app? Just because we are sending money within the US does not mean that we have money to burn stop charging us over $10,$20, $30+ just to send money within the United States you guys are making millions if not billions of dollars a year you can reduce the app fees! The fact that you even have this “no fee promo” is indicative of the fact that you know these fees are too high and usage of the app is probably low as a result of it stop being so greedy and just reduce the fees! The fees should be low whether you are sending money within the US or around the world hence your service!

Western Union App does not work properly. Despite calling Western Union several times, speaking to call sender agents, sending email to technical support team, in STILL unable to compleat the following task with the Western Union smart phone app: 1. Unable to edit the following: - Email address - Password - Address - Phone number 2. Unable to use my debit cards with this app: - each time I attempt to use my debit card I’m allowed to go through the process of filling out the required information, but as soon as I attempt to send the payment I receive a message that says “Unable to complete transaction. I’m receiving this error message despite the fact my bank account has more than enough to cover the amount needed to cover the transfer amount requested. My bank was notified as will but informed me that WU is failing to provide my bank with the amount of the transfer being requested. Instead of providing the bank with the amount of the transfer WU is on showing $0 and the bank does not know what amount to approve to complete the transfer WU is requesting to be transferred. This highly frustrating and no one at Western Union seems to be intreated I reaching out to me to fix this glitch in their phone app.

Waste of time, they will ask extremely personal questions by phone. Takes hours.. Unbelievably it takes hours to complete a transaction, and that’s only after speaking to a representative who will ask you question after question about how you know the recipient, how long you’ve known the recipient, the nature of your relationship, what the money will be used for, on and on! Honestly it’s shocking. They seem to be assuming that either you or the person you’re sending money to (or both?) is a criminal or criminal enterprise. The woman from WU actually asked what kind of relationship we have, as if I was ordering a call girl. The woman I spoke to asked how long we’ve known each other, how and where we met, if it was a gift or loan, what it would be used for, if I ever had sex with the recipient and if there was a chance this person might be a prostitute!! In fact the person is my wife’s 91 year old aunt! After that I canceled the entire transaction. By the way I initiated the transfer three hours prior to receiving a phone call and email requiring all this. So the 30 minutes they quote is a lie. Just delete this app, there’s no reason why they need to know your detailed and extraordinarily private info or ask disgusting questions.

The worse money transfer I have ever used.. This computer does nothing but manipulates and take advantage of people and their money for no apparent reason. I have sent money to Jamaica using the money transfer and they took two weeks to send my money back after I had to curse and act terrible. Then I tried sending another thousand using cash instead and in order to collect the money my sister had to cry tears to them for them to give her the thousand dollar. They will watch you starve and laugh at you. I tried another way to send the money by using my card for money pick up instead of transferring to her bank account and they sent the money back saying it couldn’t be delivered. There is no reason as to why but my guess would be 1,000 dollars is too much. But then my friend told me she had just sent $1,700 with no problem. I did the transaction on April 25 and they are telling me my refund is still in process on May 12. I’m the mean time I had checks bounced because they refused to release my own money. Terrible terrible company and customer service and please do not blame it on the Carona Virus. I should organize a class action lawsuits for all the people this company had done wrong.

UNBELIEVABLY FRUSTRATING!!. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had trying to send money… I tried to send $500 to my sister because she needed money for school clothes and supplies for my three nieces. I put all my information in and hit confirm to send. I then got a message saying I needed to verify some things, so I added my drivers license and everything they needed. I got a message saying “your transfer is under review this usually takes 30 minutes blah blah blah” a whole day goes by and it still said the same thing. It wouldn’t even let me try to send another one unless I canceled the first one!! Ok my sister really needs the money at this point so I cancel and try again. I GET THE SAME MESSAGE about the 30 min crap. I’m worried if I cancel it again and try to send a new transfer that i might mess something up. Another day goes by and nothing. I finally just went ahead and used a different platform but this is absolutely ridiculous!! The sole purpose of this app is to be able to transfer money so I’m really just confused and highly upset that I wasn’t able to and not only that there was no clear reason as to why it was happening I never got an email or anything. A complete waist of time and my sister had to wait almost a week and go buy school supplies the night before the first day of school because of this. I Will NEVER use WU again ever! Deleted the app and not looking back! ✌🏼

Worse customer service ever. I wish I could give zero star, yesterday I Went to customer service in Publix to send $1500 to Indiana, so I used the app so I can save $37 (that’s the reason for the app right)but that was a waste of time, for some reason it was showing error so The customer service manager who was a nice patience lady, she call WesternUnion customer service to help with the issue from their end, only for them to say they can’t help I myself would have to call instead, so she told them what’s the point?that’s why she’s in customer service to help her customers yet nothing🤦🏿‍♀️ she make another call still customer service wasn’t able to help, she ask if they could tell her Where i can go that would probably able to help me again they couldn’t provide that, talking about it’s not guarantee My problem would solve. Like seriously you’re the freaken customer service, you got one job to fix my danm problem if it in your end cause all was well on mine. Anyway I end up having to pay $37 fee after waiting almost 30 minutes. I will uninstalled and have my people do the same and anyone who ask I will def make sure I tell them you guys have the worst customer service ever.

No opinion of the app. Western Union. When you hand them your money to send, better filled out the information correctly. Otherwise, you will get the runaround. One time I filled out the form to send the money, I have asked the clerk if I needed to include the middle initial of the recipient and she said no. No need to guess. I went back to that branch and they can not do anything about it. Call head quarter in the state of Colorado. Today I went to receive the money and one of the branch didn't have $830. So I go to a different branch. They asked me where I was born on all different branch. But when you filled out the form to send money, not all branch would check your information carefully when they input your information. Different branch different authorized owners. Today, one lady cancelled the money transfer and tried to get the refund. Guess what, one of the branch didn't input the middle initial. This should be their job. They do this every day. They should help the consumers, not screw them around. Or they don't give a sh----t. Within one mile on the same street, it had three branches. All different authorized branch owners that would tell you something. Good luck.

Loving this app in these times.. I like the app I don’t care too much for the service. I find it funny that you can send someone money three times in one month but it does not factor in the dollar amounts. For example: if I want to send someone $5000 today tomorrow and the next day that is considered three times so the person has gotten $15,000 from me. that’s a lot of money for some people now if I send somebody a dollar today and a dollar the next day and a dollar the next day that’s only $3 dollars. it limits you by how many times you send a month but not by dollar amount. that is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. The reason why I say this is the dumbest thing? they say it is to stop money laundering money”! laundering should be by dollar amounts not by how many times you have sent. Clearly a dollar today a dollar tomorrow and a dollar the next day is not even laundering that is by far, so far from ever hurting an economy. Even $100 today $100 tomorrow and 100 and the next day that is not laundering. If anything that is trifling if someone made that low of money dealing and wanted to launder $300 and its not even worth their while. But whatever. Who am I? So I say all of that to say,.... during these time of covid and world issues people need help. So I send what I can when I can and on the fourth time, my friend in Another country was turned away. You can one get money three time a month. Great App though

Poor service. Had a very close international friend I send money to on a regular basis. Western union decided to put a block and deny all transactions without giving a reason and no way to resolve it in a timely manner. Only support is by email which can take up to a month at a minimum to get a response from. The agents and customer service do not have access to why a transaction was returned. Very frustrating as with the world in the state it is in, jobs are hard to find and my contribution helps with buying food and fuel. Thanks for nothing WesternUnion. **now I get a response from the developer that says that their system “automatically rejects certain transactions” and can’t disclose what criteria they use. What garbage. What if their system makes a mistake? I had used WesternUnion for years to the same person with no problems till then. Haha. I’ll make sure to tell everyone how they can become banned arbitrarily from their system with no recourse or remedy. Shhh, we wouldn’t want to “compromise the integrity” of their flawed controls. I’m glad I switched to a different platform and have had no issues with their competitor. MoneyGram is easier to set up direct bank transfers.

Fraud. My personal information was mysteriously changed on my account. I call an agent whom of course was foreign, which had difficulty understanding my situation as simple as it was. I asked to be placed to an American tech support and he got very offended and even more rude. I'm remaining calm the entire time. Hours later I call to simply cancel my account. I'm asked is that what I want to do? I reply yes. The lady asks which account is it the regular western union account or the online account? I said what's the difference. I want my personal information off this system all of it that remains. She says she can't do that for the online account so let me transfer you over to someone that can help. As expected with any questions other than doing business with them it leads to excessive waiting and someone picks up the phone and hangs up. My card number will be changed immediately! There is far better out there, their days are soon over. At least in the states.

NOT WORTH IT .. The first time I used it was no issue, I’ve send my mom money apparently she was blocked from the system I then proceeded to ask the lady from customer service if she was able to change the name of the receiver and she kept ignoring everything I said. I asked several times if it would be easier to just change the senders name like they usually do in store and she kept saying that they didn’t do that when in the app it clearly stated “call customer service “ to edit the name . I ended up getting a re-fund then proceeded to send my dad money none the less had another problem and called immediately just to get no answer it’s been the 14 time I call and have to go through all he options just to get to the point where it says “ hold in the line for a customer service representative “ and about 5 seconds later an operating talking another language pops up and the call is ended out of all 14 calls just one went through and had me waiting “a couple of minutes “ that turned into over a 30 minute wait just for them to never pick up . I then emailed them with the problem but said I would be contact within 24 hrs ! Are you serious ? But yet nothing ... I’ve called 3 different numbers of there so claimed 24& 24/7 hr customer service wich is a total bs . & here I am struggling just because apparently it would be cheaper and more convenient when u still end up paying more less the same thing .

Totally Disappointed. I am totally disappointed with this app. I downloaded it because I needed to send money to a friend and when I put all my card info everything was cool. Then I go and try to send money via the app and it says the address is mismatched with my card. I write to customer service and they respond sending me some tips which was great. I follow their steps and I was able to send money. A week later and I try to send some money again to the same person, but guess what? I get the same address error. I have put my address every which way I can think of but to no avail. I am desperate to send my friend some money but I can’t. My other option is to go in store which is cool but I feel like if there is an option to do it from the convenience of your own home it should work. I am going to keep trying but I am very disappointed.

At first things were fine.... In the beginning of using this app, everything was fine. I got to the point I sent so much money to India that I literally got free instant transfers like every time. Then one day I sent money ($300), the money status said in progress for like 3 days. I cancelled it then it took it out anyway. Then they took 5 days to refund it to me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt it was just a glitch. Then my next transfer I had anxiety about sending it regular so I used money in minutes service and paid the money in minutes fee. Money in minutes, right? Nope try 8 days later. My fiancé didn’t get the money till the 21 and I sent it on the 13th. You call and they blame it on the bank. You call the bank and they claim to be waiting to accept the transaction. Not sure what is happening in between or what went wrong but I feel like Western Union doesn’t take accountability and the customer service offers zero solutions. There was never a problem before, now it’s total chaos. There’s nothing more anxiety invoking than sending money to a loved one who needs it “in minutes” and the service completely fails and your money is floating around somewhere in cyber space. Sorry but I can’t take a chance with your service again.

worse business to communicate with. I WILL NEVER use western union ever again. To complicate things that really need not be complicated is not the way to do business. i used the service to send money to a friend that had been robbed (no id on person) thus we did the question and answer transfer well he gets up to a wu location and the useless cashier tells him he needs an id to receive funds (NOT HOW I SET IT UP) so i have to drive almost 100 miles (one way) to bring him funds to get home . So i cancel the transfer and good lord the inconvenience of trying to get my money back from these idiots is really driving me. I get to a payout location and the IDIOT cashier tells me she needs my phone number (so i key in my phone # no transactions found) so I tell her i have mtcm number and the IDIOT tells me oh we can’t retrieve funds that way - IDIOTS is all i know to say. until i get my money back i will conclude WU is a rip off by making things complicated when it really doesn’t have to be - they also partner with stores who hire the most useless idiotic ignorant cashiers that it makes the entire experience aggravating to say the least

Great to Bad. I’ve been using this app for over a year! I have been really satisfied with ability to not have to leave home to send money. I try to use it the other day all personal info gone- I had my debit card on app- The debit card info is gone now app requesting my bank info routing and account - silly me - I put info in. After putting all info in to who it’s going to location and amount of money tried to send -I get error message at least 3 times I tried. I went Walgreens to send WU- no problem. I go back two days later and after putting all info in and had a clerk verify error message - I-need to put name of sender in—go back check it’s there😏😏 What is going on? I use an iPhone -have you had a upgrade within past week.

WESTERN UNION. What a great way to send $$$ in 15-20, anywhere in the great USA. No fuss, no bother! The only request i have is that maybe I could find out a way to send $$$, under $1000. For a little bit less of a surcharge! $12. Is a little steep to send $100.! However, as I said before- quality service every time, I guess I should count my blessings, which I already have! I was just making s suggestion and I am sure, like noses, everyone has one! Thanks again for the great service! Also thanks again to the great customer service that I have the pleasure of dealing with several times a month-from the employees @ PLS, for their due diligence, patience and knowledge when it comes to my personal financial needs and wants! Time to move to the gram. I use money gram it’s safe easy and simple. I send 500 they receive 500. I don’t have to worry about there worst exchange rate on planet earth plus with the gram they go pick it up from a bank so they always have the money in dollar or the bank can exchange it fair and square and they only charge me the fee. With western union im paying a higher fee twice once with the exchange rate and the second fee with the actual fee itself and I can’t have them receive the money in USA plus they have to go to a ragity store to pick the money up but with the gram they can go to a bank with honor and dignity. If can’t wait for the future western union is gonna get its karma. Karma is not just human to human but karma also apply to businesses can’t wait for western union to go out of business for there terribly exchange fee full of corruption. Just charge me the fee and be fair and square don’t take $20 from exchange rate. Hope karma hit WU hard. Let’s all pray for a karma so great they be out of business. Love and Hate. I really love how fast and easy it is to send money (bank transfer) using the app.. when it works!!! However, there’s been several times when I’m trying to send money to someone and somehow it will give me an error message saying, “unable to complete transfer with this payment method.” Then it tells me to go to the nearest WesternUnion store to pay with cash. I really don’t understand why it does that. I’ve been told by customer service that they’d have to reset my account, to wait 15 minutes before trying to send money again; and another time, I’ve been told to delete and create a whole new account. I’ve done everything they’ve told me and yet, the issue still persist. Please fix whatever it is that’s causing it because it is such a hassle to have to call CS each time I get that error message.

It takes 6 days to send money. I been using this app for year with no problem recently my money is been in hold for 6 days call them they said is a procedure to check the money for 6 days even though THE MONEY is not in your bank account anymore is been a pain for the month of July 2023 no one can help you to expedite process or the reason why the put the money in hold for 6 days. Incredibly stupid app. This could be a great app if it only wouldn’t log me out every time I switch from this app to my contacts in order to look up the information WU is requesting to complete a transaction. I am unable to remember all phone numbers, bank information, addresses, email addresses etc. I toggle between my apps and look them up as needed, and use copy&paste options to make it quick and easy. But not with this app! I tried to make a transfer and needed to log in 6-7 times after looking up info in my contacts till I got sick of it. When I come back to WU I have start over from scratch, which is highly frustrating. I am using now different apps that have the same features and no cost for bank-2-bank transfers. If the WU app developer sends me an email that this problem has resolved, I will be willing to try again and update this review.

Waste of time. Dealing with WU over the phone for many years was very painful so I decided to use the App. First time I used the app I chose to pay with credit card which cost me an arm and a leg. This time I decided to use an option where I can pay cash at the store. This option Is supposed to be the least expensive of the 3 options. I created a transaction to send money then received an a confirmation email and instructions which basically said go to the store and give them your phone number to look up the transaction. Got to the store and was told that they can not look up by phone number and that it never worked. I called WU and got the same run around and wanted to me to pay double the fee from the app. Basically they they either charge an arm and a leg paying with credit card or trick you to pay double when you get to the store. I’m sick of theses people. Never gonna use WU again.

Very Stupid and stupid stuff. I sent money to my cousin in India , they declined the transfer for no reason , and when I called to check on my transaction one the stuff started asking stupid questions like for how long do I know my cousin, and if he is my blood cousin, what’s non blood cousins like ? This happened to me few time a couple times I didn’t even get the money back as they said I will get my money back in 5 to 7 business days , they are them selves the big scammers and would pretend they trying to save you from a fraud ,Over all this a terrible app to use I been using money gram ever since and it’s the great nothing stupid happens like with these guys Thank you

Don’t use!!. Have used the app numerous times without a problem but then it happened. Sent $100, not like I was sending thousands of dollars, to grandson, as I have numerous times, and suddenly western union refused to release the money to him & refunded (haven’t received my refund as of yet) the money back to me. Stated item 11 of their terms and agreements. I will never use this service again & hope to spread the word. If I had never used this service before I may be a little more forgiving but since I had used it many times, to the same person, without any problems this should have never been a problem. I was transferred to another department who cannot understand or barely speak English. Do yourself a favor and don’t spend money on this service. Their fees are unrealistically high and there are other services that don’t charge you a dime to transfer money. I will never use them again. My next step is to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

It is unbelievable that a company this big can have a an application that is this lousy. You better get it perfect when you enter information. I spelled her name wrong… They have A button that allows you to correct that but apparently the button doesn’t work. Kind Of like the darkness setting on your toaster. It is just there to make you feel like you have some chance of fixing the problem. The reality is when you try to change the name using the not so handy feature that they almost built into their software, it tells you to call customer service. Don’t do it. Your life is much too valuable to waste 30 minutes of it not being helped by the people that can’t get their software to fix the problem either. You’re much better off finding another way to transfer money to your friends overseas or maybe pushing your phone through a blender or something.

Thanks to WU we’ve bought plane tickets for a Venezuelan refugee, an Ecuadorian’s family ability to buy a used car, another man in Tijuana who had a lump under his eye- which turned out to be cancerous and thanks to WU our ability to send him money quite possibly saved this mans (sole supporter for his family of 5!) life. Works when it wants to work. I guess since you all updated the app it’s working ok but for at least a year! It wouldn’t fully process my transaction and I had to call the 1-800# where they ask everything about your life in order to make a simple transaction and it was annoying as heck! And to top it off when you try and let the people know on the 1-800 that the app wasn’t working they acted obvious and said they would report it, which I’m sure they didn’t. Thank goodness you finally fixed this app... so when the app is working, it works great but when it’s not it’s a big mess. Would’ve given it 2 stars for my frustration over the past year but I gave it 3 since it worked today. Maybe if it keeps working I’ll give it a higher rating a a later date

To all with incarcerated love ones. OMG it so convenient it’s amazing.. I had friends and relatives just Cashapp me what they could spare for our love one who’s celebrating his 54th birthday behind bars to show our support and love to let’m know he’s not alone..after the collections took place it literally took less then 3 mins to process the funds to his inmate account urgently..! No one had to get up or stand in line we all did the this literally in minutes from the touch of our electronic devise’s.. Thank You WesternUnion, now our love ones will be getting a lot more assistance due to the accessibility you’re providing through all services on this app..

Frustrated. I have had this WesternUnion app for more than 5 years now. Recently my daughter got married and I had all her outfits made from back home. Regularly I have my own traditional outfits made from back home and I am always sending money. Since end of July I have not been able to send through my mobile app and is asking me to go a WesternUnion office location to send the money. I called WesternUnion and they said it’s because I exceeded the limit of sending money for the month. It’s been 2 months now and still not able to send money. I called my bank to see if there is a problem with my debit card and they said it works fine and there is no problem at all. I am kind of disappointed not being able to send the money from my mobile app. I cannot always get up and go the WesternUnion location all the time.

It’s not giving me points. I have used this app to send money a lot of times and most of the time it’s not giving me points. Few times, when it gave, it’s insignificant, that is, for instance you send $100 ($1=1point), it will only give 3points. Now that is stealing! I have complained to WU, yet they have not resolved it. Instead they want me to send all MTCN and other infos of all the transactions this happened. How do you expect me to send all the MTCN for “all” the many transactions I have made when it’s a lot of transactions? More so, you have access to my account, that is, you can see all my transactions and easily sort that out yourself, but choose to want to inconvenience me instead. That’s not good! I am very disappointed with the way you have handled the issue. More so, work on your exchange rate. In this pandemic, the exchange in Nigeria is very high now, way over your rate, yet your rate is where it is (low). Even Sendwave’s rate is higher than yours.

I hate stupid apps. My autofill stuck .coom in the email on the set up page and It took it. Then it wanted to send me a pin to verify but .coom is garbage and somehow this thing took it and that was it. I can’t get a pin at .coom and I can’t do anything else because the developers couldn’t use a if than statement = .com, .net, .org and if it takes too long to put every email in the world on there, well no because that’s all on the net. I have built a lot of webpages at work, and i haven’t done a phone app, but it has to be the same because it’s just a website. The front end, the part that users see has to be idiot proof, or at least have a way to go back and redo any part, or in my case my surveys would not get filled out. People would just dump the whole thing and go about their lives. So now I guess I’ll go download something else and hope that they put some simple checks in the app, or at least put a back button on it.

Horrible service. I would give them 0 on the review I did the transaction on the app and they ask me to call for review I called talked to 2 different people because they can’t solve a simple transaction. Then again and again I called for another transaction they ask me to send my ID and i did , then the transaction was released then my next transaction again I did it on the app and I needed to call again and spoke to 3 different persons until they solved and she just said yes your going to have to call for every transaction I guess they don’t care about customers they just make your life harder and a waste of time I was on the phone for an hour until they released the transaction . There’s no point on using the app

Customer service AWFUL. Needed to have last name on transaction corrected. Called customer service, to have current last name moved to maternal last name, and add the paternal last name. And made sure to say it needed to be this way specifically. My receiver went to pickup, and was told they couldn’t get money as name was wrong. Called customer service again. Was advised they had put paternal name as middle name. Told them this needed to be changed to the paternal name. They changed it supposedly. Receiver went to pickup again, only to find out the name was still wrong. Called customer service again, only to find out they didn’t do anything the time before, even though I asked multiple times to make sure it was in order correctly. They said they would refund the transaction, I agreed with this, as I was tried of dealing with them. Check status on app, only to find out later, they never even did that. Kinda think they just have people working here that answer the phone, but actually do nothing. So frustrating!!!

Worked Well For Transfers And Then Frustrating. Initially worked well. Pick up cash for my wife was easy. Then I wasn’t allowed to transfer using my credit / debit card. They blamed my bank. My bank said nothing came from Western Union. They say nothing they can do. I can go and send the money at a Western Union location. Doesn’t this make the app useless?? The app is supposed to alleviate the hassle of transferring in person. Tried bank to bank transfer. Sent a transfer on the 15th of June. Got an email from Western Union saying the payment was complete on 18 June. Wife went to bank and nothing there. Western Union Customer Service was useless. Called them Sunday 21 June and was told the office for bank to bank transfers was closed. Extremely frustrated and angry at this point using the app and their website and with their customer service. Their advertisement of instant cash to recipient and to help people take care of their families abroad is false.

Highly recommended. So far I used western for 7years and i have issues sending I chose the 3-4 days and it took 2 weeks i call customers service and thats the way so I argued with them i told them they need to fix the system not 3day its weeks i was mad because they really need the money thats the reason why tel now we are not talking to my sister because she don’t understand what’s wrong she accused me that i didn’t wanna pay my credit and she pay using her money but after that i never used that 3days I always used the minutes so far its good and have points that i can used sometimes free because of the points and all history is on your account they emailed you when picked up easy quick sending dollar they take few penny to get in philippines

WesternUnion international money transfer service. Over the years, whenever I need to send money to relatives or friends on the island, I customarily drive to whichever WesternUnion office that is closest to my residence. With the new changes in western union requiring me to pre register on my phone or computer before I Gi into the store, which is usually time consuming and more. I was very nervous about going to the phone store and downloaded the WesternUnion app. I took a deep breath and a little patience I was able to uploads all of the questions needed to send the money. I finally learned how to send money from my phone... and I can now send future monies without feeling overwhelmed.

Save your money. And use a different agent to send your money. I’ve used Western Union for years, and they just keep getting worse and worse. I redeem points that said it would automatically save me $2.50 on the transfer fee. Nope. Didn’t even acknowledge it during the recent transaction I just sent. Once they even cancelled a transaction and literally could not tell me why. And most importantly, they’re the most expensive game in town with the worst exchange rate. We literally have no incentive to keep using them. I have found two other, better, easier, and cheaper ways to send money to the Caribbean. And they never acknowledge your complaints and follow through. They take your business for granted. So done with them and their app that just gives constant issues on an iPhone 14 Pro Max on T-Mobile service.

Bad experience. I always used WU to send money to my country and this week I had the worst experience, not only it has taking for ever to get the transaction done, but also my bank said that they gave not request of money from WE .... wester union says that it is in process ... who should I believe ... I was talking with a guy for 30 minutes who was walking me again to the process, reviewing my status and etc and suddenly the called was transfer to costumers service in ASIA and I am in USA .... that was absoluta disrespectful from this company or the guy I was taking with. So now I don’t know what to do ... my money is in the cloud somewhere and WE, doesn’t do anything to give me a solution. I am so annoyed and angry !!

Canceled my transaction after confirmation, worst customer service. WesternUnion is very unprofessional and never send any money if you want it on time. Customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life I have used WesternUnion 3-4 times before and about 8 days before my transaction got canceled on calling them I learned than they wanted me to resubmit my ID. I then proceeded to create a new transaction and resubmitted maid. When I called back I was told my ID was accepted and my money will be transferred on then 6th. But as you can guess it was canceled each time I called to check why this was canceled I got a new response 1st response “I don’t have information to tell what exactly happened and if you want to send the money go to the local office ” I requested to talk to a specialist or supervisor they responded by saying there supervisor is busy and will call me with in 3 hours 2nd response “your bank has canceled it” I confirmed with with my bank they said they never got a request 3rd response “could be canceled by the receivers bank“ Receivers Bancorp never canceled it 4th response “WesternUnion canceled “ I again tried to escalate but never got a call back No supervisor ever called me WesternUnion is very unprofessional and never send any money if you want it on time. Customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life

Minus 100 stars. Customer service reps. were rude & incompetent!!!. I have been calling WesternUnion for two days. The transaction should be completed within minutes. But they state it would take longer. They kept transferring me multiple times. Each time you have to answer the same question, then get transferred again most times back to the IVR to start over. Since they have a cancel option on the portal, I reentered the transaction. But upon trying to cancel the 1st one, I got an error with prompt to call customer service. They said they will cancel but not refund the fee. Transferred again, then stated they will not cancel after all. Their listen-while-you-wait recording is extremely annoying, going on and on about their various registration numbers. They make sure you know them all by heart by the time they tell you what they CANNOT do... You are getting cheap labor, at least have the decency to invest into properly training that workforce.

Rates are ridiculous!. So I recently did a transaction to Mexico and I sent 200$ dollars. When the person I sent it to went to pick it up they only received 100$ dollars. I contacted western union about this issue and they told me how the rates are based off their personal views and not what the currency in actually worth. I do take responsibility for not recognizing the rates and amount that my receiver would receive however, I wasn’t aware of the currency changes and rates that’s western union made up. I usually sent money a while back with no issues, the amount I sent was the correct amount and I didn’t mind paying the 10-15$ fee to send the money. But it is absolutely ridiculous to changes currency rates so you can profit from it ! You can charge someone a fee to send money, but taking away from the money that is being sent is again RIDICULOUS!

Love it, so convenient and simple♥️. Thanks so much WU.. this app has saved me so many trips to the store’s, my Kids father is In prison, so I use the WU app, only takes a few mins to send the money! I’m telling you this because some of you maybe struggling on how to send money to your loved ones that are in the system or whatever case may be🤷‍♀️Just saying this app helps a lot and you can earn points each time you send, which u can redeem to take money off of your sending Fee, regardless this app is amazing and so convenient, download it don’t hesitate, I’ve had it a little over a year now and I’ve never had problems with it!! Again thanks to the creators of this app, you’ve saved me more money and time than I can count🙏♥️🥰

Its Fraud. Never use it. Please don't use it. Its fraud. I have been using it for two years but from past three months since the recession its all fraud, your money transactions do not happen on time. Three time they took 3000$ of mine on the first day of month with a promise of transfer in 4-5 days, on 5th day they cancel it saying transfer failed and refund initiated will be processed in 4-5 days. After which they proceed refund on 5th day marking it success. Its not done money will reflect in your bank from 0-7 business days, reality it will be on 7th day. So 17 business day they will have money that is 21 days, they eat your interest and still do no leave even the transfer fee which is non refundable. Happened three times. Just imagine how much they are getting from everyones money doing this. Please switch to Remitly way faster and easier refund using express.

Horrible customer service. There customer service is horrible. whenever there is an issue they can’t say why this issue happened. I tried to send money through app using debit card and app tries to charge me a credit card fee for some reason I don’t know why since I have sent money before using same debit card. I called 8 times to customer service they said we don’t why it’s happening and I can try to send other way I said ok if I can pay over the phone and they transferred me to the other department every time I call and as soon as they transfer to a deferent department the call hangs up or starts over again with the options computer gives you. Finally spoke to someone last time and he tried to send over the phone he said it’s declined by western union and he doesn’t know why. it’s always very hard to send money through western union even though everything is ok. I will go with a deferent company to send the money so I don’t have a headache that I get all the time with western union.

The entire WU system is TRASH delete the app & find an alternative.. I am a breadwinner to a huge family including my parents, wife, child and my siblings. Each month without any excuse I MUST send them money so that they can survive as they don’t have any other source of income as of right now. Ohh man each month WU gives me so much trouble & anxiety while sending money. While I am encountered with an issue I call telephone rep. “They are the MOST unprofessional people I’ve ever experienced on earth”. They lie & make false excuses. They will tell you that they will transfer you to a different dept to get your issue resolved, however, they lie 95% of times after the transfer you will have to start over again as if you have not called them in the first place. Extremely unsatisfied with their service. Last but not least I have to wait 1 month for them to fix a systemic issue before I can use their service again. Delete the WU app and find an alternative.

Unreliable transactions. My first transaction of $2k went very smoothly, I was able to transfer funds internationally within a couple of days, my second transaction of $1k to the same receiver did not go through, instead I received an email from Mexico requesting I share sensitive information through email. I did not feel safe sharing sensitive information through email since it is not recommended by cyber security experts and western union didn't provide a different platform for me to upload my documents, it’s been 2 months and I still have not received a refund. I’m not using western union again. The chat option in the mobile is not very helpful, they re-directed me to call a phone number, the customer service said they don’t know what is going on with my transfer they will get back to me in 24hrs. 24hrs later I called and received the same message. My problem was still not resolved.

Customer Service Didn’t Want To Help Me. The application would not accept bank information of my recipient. I called customer service to ask for help and they would not even try to help me and said that it was a problem with my bank, and then hung up on me. I have been using my bank for a very long time and have no issues. This is a problem with their application. When an error occurs, they don’t tell you what the problem is and customer service does not want to help. It was upsetting that they try to put the blame on you, and don’t even make an effort to investigate what the real problem is.. I had to pay more money in the end to use a different service..

Not efficient app. It’s really difficult to work with the app. First of all, It shows irrelevant error messages. I made a money transfer and it says it’s in the process and that I need to verify my identity to complete it, even tho I am sending money to the same person for the second time. It doesn’t direct me where and how to verify my identity. So It just leaves me confused. I called the customer service and they say that the money can be picked up in few days but why I didn’t get a confirmation message that the transfer is confirmed or complete. I did get an confirmation email for the first transfer I did. Also, the content of the app isn’t within the page. I couldn’t see some parts of the text after my transfer was done because it was not within page.

Disappointed!!!! What happened to WU?!. I have been using WU for 3 years now until this month of April, the same transactions to the same receivers every month for 3 years has been cancelled even I provided all the answers to their “it’s none of your business” personal questions like how long have you known the receiver, how do you communicate to each other, how often do you communicate to each other, what’s the mode of communication. And so on for like 20mins questions and after answering it, they still cancelled the transaction. I understand the compliance procedure to protect the sender of fraud activities but if the transactions to the same receiver has been going on for years and the sender has validate the transaction to be legit and nothing like someone just instructed them to do so then why make it very difficult?! I have highly recommended WU before to all friends to use but not anymore! Total disappointment now! Moving on to another company to send remittance now.

A competitive option to international money transfers. I only use this to transfer money internationally so I don't know how their other services are but they have a $0 transfer fee for bank to bank. They make money from this by having a markup on the mid market exchange rate. The competitors often have better rates but they have transfer fees that gets more expensive the more amount you transfer. I transfer a few thousands monthly, and this is good for this type of situation if your sending higher amounts on a regular basis because there's no fees that take away from the money you send. Which means your not spending as much to transfer so you can send more instead of using some to pay transfer fees.

Quick, Simple & Accessible. The WU App allows you to send money fast and without difficulty once you have your account set up and create the profiles for receivers. Unfortunately getting the application set-up can be a bit time consuming and requires a government issued ID for verification purposes (specifically for sending money to Cuba, not sure about other countries) so be prepared to spend time getting all your information in order. After that, sending money is a breeze! The only thing I question about the WU App is whether or not you spend more money because it’s online. There is no option to indicate the sender sending monies via a debt card and thus you pay a premium fee associated with sending money via a credit card (regardless of the payment method).

Works well with some quirks. I use this regularly for family maintenance. It makes taking care of aging parents abroad much easier, so I am really grateful for it. It has a few things I wish were better. It is hard to see which bank account I am sending money from when I use the resend option. They could have a better review process for seeing which bank account is being used for a transfer in general to make sure it is the right one. One other odd thing is the app icon does not display on my iPad. It just shows as a grey grid. Not a huge issue, but weird! Best thing being a regular user is they often send my transfer in a few hours rather than days. This is a nice perk! Overall, Western Union is reliable and helpful and the app works fine.

Prehistoric app. I’m so displeased with these axxholes had me jump hoops an hurdles just to send money, I advise u update to cash app or Venmo chime Varo or current, I won’t ever use these services in my life, it’s a waste of time, they want u to make an account with them, which u can lock ur bank info in an they still will make u go to there kiosk which is an even more inconvenience it lags so much you’ll get frustrated by filling out the information for that, all for it to tell u to come back in an hour, so if your anything like me and ur new born needs milk, ur shxt out of luck waiting on this company, I wwouldnt refer anyone to use these services and nor would I advise anyone to use this service, they don’t value there customers, and the tech support ppl barely speak English high made things even more difficult, I’m a user of cashapp, Venmo and chime, and it’s all easier to wire your loved ones money through they’re service, I won’t ever use WesternUnion for aslong as I live an I’m 31 so I have a long time to go, see u in hell WU🗣🥵😈

Mrs. Very convenient transfer money a click away instead of finding a location. I gave an opinion and it was taken into consideration to have the freedom for the recipient to receive money in USA currency or other currency and was changed in timely manner by the following time I used the app. I had this option. Another suggestion I hope there is edit option to change to the transaction before the recipient receive the money. Thank you Update I wish there is help button or phone no to call through the in case I or the receiver has difficulty with the money. Now my receiver give the tracking no to the banker but she was told the tracking no is wrong. Having a help or chart through the app would be convenient. TY

Dream comes True. It is amazing, very easy and simple. BUT if your system work ( W U ). Many times it had glitches. Repeating the same for many time, I wish WU will fix this issue. Customer service helpless for this glitch. I will update again in future. I use twice a month. Why WU try to fix something which is not broken ? Every few months someone in IT department try to prove something ( inferiority) I guess. When we get use to it of the app. Unnecessarily fingering to prove better ? Only fix if it breaks or just leave it alone .( Dec 24, 2017 ) upper paragraph was written almost a year ago. ( February 21,2020 ) same issues. Just a formality of asking the review but no fix. For resending every month twice, your system ask all the information again and again.

Western Union will drop you like a rock.. I have used Western Union for more than two years for exclusively charitable purposes. I have been assisting a widow’s family, and I(and others) have helped a church and its school for underprivileged kids in Pakistan. Without any warning or explanation, Western Union has barred me from using them. I have formally asked for review to no avail. I have formally asked for the reason behind their decision only to be told their “private policy” allows them to keep it secret. This is very troubling because I have people dependent upon my help. I can deal with having to take an alternate route, but if there is something I did that raises concern I want to have a means to address it. This whole debacle put a family without food for 4 or 5 days. Now I have to find another means to send money, and I have no idea what caused the problem in the first place. I feel like I am destined to repeat since Western Union refuses to tell me what their cause for concern was.

Stealing money. I send a money to my cousin because her mom passed away and it’s a emergency. Western union send me an email and said they cannot process my request because i need to send them id of my cousin and DOB (i was like this is weird) and not only that they charged me $240 right away when i checked my bank. So i called them and i said cancel everything and refund my money, so they said i need to wait 7 days of my refund which i did. After 7 days my refund still didn’t arrive so called them back, they said they cannot refund me my money because I still need to provide the private info of my cousin like picture of id back and forth and DOB. I told them why should i provide that if the transaction already been cancelled, but they don’t listen and were just circling around. Until right now still didn’t get my money back, their customer service lie and doesn’t help at all.

Good App, Very Convenient. This was my first time using this app. In the past I actually had to go to a western Union location to send money. The app is easy to navigate. I like that I did not have to leave home to send my funds overseas. The only issue I had was, I tried to use my debit card through Apple Pay, but it did not allow me to do that. My debit card is in my Apple Pay account, but it did not even show up while trying to make this transaction. Instead it wanted me to use Apple Cash. Maybe that’s just the way WU uses Apple Pay. I had to redo the transaction to pay another way, but overall, I am please with this experience.

A valued customer. I have several different family members that having limited income. I try to help them out whenever I can. At first I would mail them checks or money orders but then you have to wait several days to get the check and then hopefully the banks are open it when you get it. Just so you can go cash it, it’s just such a hassle!!! So I tried WesternUnion. Not only is it easy to do especially since I set up an account but also because it’s the safest way of sending money don’t have to worry about a check being lost in the mail or anything like that it’s there when you need it and they need it and I really do appreciate it!! I tell everyone just how Awesome WesternUnion is!!!!

Misleading. I downloaded the app and there are 3 options to chose from, the least expensive option is to pay cash $2 but put all the information of the receiver on your phone. Once that is done you will receive an email that says you have 11 hours to go and pay at a location that accepts the mobile app. I was able to use it once! The next time I tried to use it, it would not work when I went to Walgreens. I was told the service was down after going to 3 different stores I gave up! The next day I went to another Walgreens and was told the same thing. I decided to use the kiosk inside the store which cost more money and the transaction went through. I called headquarters to complain and they couldn’t answer why it wasn’t working the lease expensive way but they told me that they would give me 50% off of my next transaction. The $2 option should be taken down because it’s a lie! I like Money Gram better anyway!

Errors, no link to delete account, and kept logging out automatically.. Terrible. I had a few complications with WU. 1) I signed up to make a one time only transaction to send to a friend, but I was receiving errors on my address not matching. 2) The website was having issues so I downloaded the app on my phone which also had the same issue. It would not let me process any transactions and kept logging me out. 3) I'm thinking WU is worthless unless you go into a store yourself and fill out the form to send money to the receiver. So I tried finding a link to delete my account and my personal information, considering that it was a one time thing, I could not find any link on deleting an account. I researched for nearly an hour to find a link and it turns out other users were having this problem as well. It should be just as easy to delete an account as it is signing up and providing personal bank information. Worst customer service ever! I do not recommended.

Rewards Points. I enjoy using the WU app to send money out from the comfort of my home but, WU needs to get serious about making the app more user friendly. By this, I mean the rewards points system with how the points can be redeemed and how many points translates into how many dollars should be on the transaction screen slides before or during checkout as an option to save money instead of not being there at all leaving the user powerless to figure out how to apply it and if enough points have been accumulated to do so. Especially during this time of covid19 when every penny sent out counts. That’s extra sending money that’s potentially being left behind because sending fees couldn’t be avoided.

Worst Customer Service in history. It was the first time I used WesternUnion and I was sending only a $300 to my cousin and the fees was $11 , he went to pick it up and they told him that I have to contact WesternUnion to give them a pic of my ID so I did contact them and someone answered me from a foreign country I told her my problem and she did put me on hold for 20 minutes and never came back so I did hang up and called again someone else answered and this time she did put me on hold for 40 mins then she came back asking what was my problem !!! Anyway I sent an email to complain they said sorry it was because of covid19 , anyway a week later I was checking the fees to see if I want to send money I found out the fees went up from $11 to $27 for my account because I complain I guess , I went to MoneyGram website I found out the fees was $4.99 for $400 vs $30+ for WesternUnion. So from now on I’ll use MoneyGram only

Don’t be fooled.. At first glance this was going to be a good experience, but this was the biggest inconvenience of my life. This is what the app doesn’t tell you... If you are going to use the credit card payment option know that you can only send 25% of your credit limit minus the 45$ fee for the transaction. The amount you are able to send will act as a cash advance charge on your credit card, which will be at a high interest rate and you will be charged the interest for everyday that the amount is paid off. Then you will be charged a fee from your bank for taking a cash advance. I found all this out not through western union, but through through my bank where I spent 2 hours doing so. Use this payment option if you can afford ripping up money and throwing it in the trash. I will never use WesternUnion as a form of sending money, and I advise anyone who is going to use this app to do heavy research before sending your hard earned money.

The absolute best. I’ve used PayPal, Moneygram and BitCoin and have had red tape highly frustrating issues with all of them. PayPal holds overseas funds for as much as six weeks to three months while keeping interest for themselves. They charge a 10% fee for instant transfers while most transfers are anything but instant. MoneyGram restricts countries to which they will send money despite our global economy, and it always seems to be the downtrodden third world countries whose money is forever held in mystery. Both PayPal and MoneyGram have customer service that makes Verizon seem like Maytag Repairs in 1966. Western Union has been a credible and honorable businessman ness since 1851- yes PRE Civil War. Franklin Pierce was President. Their app allows you transfers to 266 countries globally in minutes, also charging 10%. You can transfer for no fee with a three business wait. It takes about sixty seconds to send money. Recipients require a valid ID and the MTCN transaction number, which appears after you confirm the send. I take a screen shot of that and send that via text or Messenger. Western Union has NEVER had a security breach and one can reach customer service with minimal or no wait time. For me there is no other choice. 1851. Think about that.

Lacking help and stability. The worst experience with total lack of interest. I created an account with the app , was told I could get my email setup to merge my info from being an in-store customer, the customer service reps are lazy and not interested, I called numerous times and no one would help with the setup. They would say just give it a few days, they would pretend to view my account and say they will merge my info, it’s been almost two months. The app doesn’t do much of anything for me and I think the developers are possible in Lala land. It’s really disappointing and useless Update to developer: Thank you for your response; however, you ask that I contact you through Twitter and Facebook which I think is a little tacky. Please understand that although convenient for you, not everyone uses Twitter or Facebook. It would be ideal to have a professional form of contact or email.

Much better than the internet site. The Western Union internet site has proven completely useless to me in sending money for my program in Haiti. I am so glad that, for whatever reason, the app doesn’t have the same issues that the internet site does. Maybe the designer of the app can give the web site designer some pointers? (IE....internet site demands a middle name; in Haiti, there are no middle names; if I put a middle name or double up the first name, WU in Haiti refuses to acknowledge the same person and provide the funds, but the site won’t let me submit with out something that space. The app works appropriately, and doesn’t inappropriately demand something in that middle name spot.)

Some of the worst software I have ever seen. Are use Western Union because it’s the standard, but using their app is absolutely ridiculous, there are so many missing features like having a default card which it does not allow you to do even though you have multiple cards. There should be a way to change things or be able to view things before sending, but it doesn’t even show me what account I’m sending from on the final page before I send. Wouldn’t this be something that people would want to know if they have multiple cards entered? And this is just the tip of the iceberg, it’s not good software and there is nothing more I can say about that. Fix it The other thing that bothers me is what other people have complained about advertised exchange rates, I recently sent money and it said that there was no fee but when I got the receipt there was money deducted from the amount of money that I was sending.
