Don't Waste Your Money. 1. The footnotes are useless. No hot linking, and footnotes are denoted in the scriptures by just an asterisk, so it's difficult to figure out which note corresponds to which passage. This is a deal breaker for biblical study. 2. No text options for fonts, text size, or background color. This isn't too bad for the actual scripture, but the introductions are an eyesore. 3. Each book is subdivided inside the app, so you can't search the entire bible. And each book takes several seconds to load. 4. It doesn't work with multitasking. Enter a book, switch apps, switch back, and you're back at the home screen. 5. The interface is ugly and lacks polish. The biggest annoyance is the search "button", which isn't even a proper button, and it doesn't have an animation attached. The search box just pops up. Sloppy.

Looking for update for 2021. I’m disappointed that the Liturgical Readings for each day ended with January 31, 2020. I use that feature every day. I hope you plan to update this feature, because this app is my “go to” for my scripture reflections. I appreciate the cross-referencing and footnote comments. Please let us know what we can do to get this update. Thank you.

Features. The preface to Old Testament comes up when I open the app and in order to read any of it I have to use the search feature. is there a way to make it like a book instead of looking up plonk piece at a time?T

Overall, unhappy. I give 2 stars instead of 1 only because of the speed of the new interface. Otherwise, I don't like it! It should default to the books page instead of the OT Preface. And I do NOT like that I can no longer scroll from chapter to chapter within a book... very inconvenient to have to go back and forth. Can't figure out why the need to change so much? Very disappointed in new interface. Love the speed, but would give that up to have old format back. Likely won't be using this paid-for app near as much. 😔

I repent. I repent having bought this Bible. It doesn't have anyway to find the books of the Bible.

Great app. I love the app. I read the Bible using its feature Read the Bible in a year. The app is easy to use, intuitive, runs smoothly. I must say that when the app was broken, the developer was extremely responsive and when alerted to the issue, he worked on it right away, and then even emailed me telling me that the fix was ready. I just wish I, or someone else emailed him earlier, I didn't think of it! I saw a couple of negative reviews instead. Working with technology myself I know first hand that things happen and you might not be aware of them.

A complete Bible. For my smartphone I wanted a bible with Deuterocanonical books. Having a dozen study bibles, three with Apocrypha, I've tried several other bibles. Every time they would upgrade with increasing complexity, most of which I didn't want. I have the 1991 edition of this NAB and have decided to purchase it. Please don't listen for pleas to increase the 'whistles and bells' that ruined so many other bibles I bought. Keep the app simple so those of us that are interested in reading the Word of God and his inspired writers aren't buried under a plethora of techno-tricks. This bible app really works smoothly. I'm impressed. "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

Can’t navigate. No way to find the table of contents.

Be Careful of Privacy Policy. When clicking on "developer's privacy policy" you are presented with Chinese writing accompanied by small video images of explicit pornography.

Don’t buy!. This is not at all what I expected. Read the Bible in a year feature doesn’t work, nor do I see ways to bookmark or share verses as the description claimed can be done. Convoluted and not user friendly. You cannot skip back or forward to the next page without going back to the menu and choosing a page number. I would like to delete the app and have a refund.

The Best Bible App I have Seen: Catholic NAB. I have used this app for several years - it is outstanding. Navigating to to any desired Book, Chapter, and Verse is a breeze. Every footnote and cross reference is hot-linked, which makes study so easy. And the back and forward buttons really simply returning to your desired location.

The read in a year has a bug. this is my favorite translation of the Catholic Bible. And I do enjoy this book. However, I like to use the read a Bible in a year feature which is very nice with the exception that it has the New Testament chapter 2 or three times at least in each daily reading. I noticed that when I was reading the same thing every day. And so I checked it out and sure enough the New Testament chapter was inserted into at least two different days. There may be a reason for that but I don’t know what it would be. In general, I like the way the book is laid out. There is no way that I can see however, to provide feedback or to contact the developer. I tried to contact the developer by his website and got no reply. It would be nice, to make an audio version of this book as well. Aside from these issues, I do recommend the purchase of this app.

New update makes this app OUTSTANDING. Dramatic speed improvement! Can get to a specific book, chapter, and verse instantly. The new user interface is superb. The new text format is much easier to read. The new search capability with filters is perfect. Getting to footnotes and back is a snap. This app is right up there YouVersion's Holy Bible app -- the very best out there, but YouVersion does not have NABRE (although it does have 29 English translations including 2 Catholic ones -- and one can instantly compare versions). Great job! Thanks so much for making NABRE so accessible and easy to use. May the Lord continue to bless you in your wonderful work.

2021 daily readings?. The daily readings are missing for 2021

Today’s readings broken in 13.1 iOS. Please get that fixed This really makes the app not so helpful

Best update. This current version is so much faster. I stopped using the older version and switched to other bible app because it was so frustrating to use. Now with this update I went back to using it and it was so much better. It's the best I've used so far. The new interface is good too. The only suggestion is maybe break down the interface down to verses not just to the chapters. This will make looking up verses faster. Thanks

Great app, great value. This app version of the Catholic NAB far exceeds an earlier app of the Catholic NAB that I purchased that was more expensive only worked with the Book Shelf application. I have an iPhone 4. This app is super fast, easy to navigate, and does not require an internet connection. If you are Catholic, you need to get this app. Great value for the money. The only thing that would help to make this better is for Christ words to be in red.

Bible is no good anymore. I don’t know what is going on, but it no longer provides the Bible reading of the mass of the day. Please fix this.

Needs work. The interface is very poor and unintuitive. It took me a while to figure out how to navigate. There are no brightness controls or night reading options. Does get the job done, tried all the free New American bibles that I could read offline and they just weren't that good. If you always have an internet connection than I do recommend "Bible." Works much better but I dont know if you can download an offline version of NAB for that app.

Not flexible. My parish does not offer a missal. I use apps to read the scripture as the lectors speak. I cannot change the date in the app to select the Sunday readings at rhe Saturday Vigil. Frustrating that the app does not offer a vigil option.

Hard to use. Very hard to use if you want to use it like a written bible. Hard to find where bible books are listed. It's fine if you want to just have a daily bible verse automatically pop up each day. Needs to be easier to use

Love the app. Easy to navigate and find scriptures for study. Keeps your favorite quotes handy. Has a read the Bible in a year function but I haven’t been able to discover how it works.

I used to love this app but now.... This app worked fine for me until I upgraded my iPad (gen 5) to the largest system software (iOS 13.1.3). Now the text is fine, but the index is all but useless; as a result, I can no longer easily navigate from one book or chapter to another. All the lines in the index are blank. When I tap on one line in the index, the book name or chapter number appears, but only one book or chapter number at a time. So of course if you tap on a line, you go to the hidden book or chapter you selected - whether it’s the one you wanted or not. And yes, the app was updated to the version that’s supposed to be updated for the new iOS. And deleting the app and reinstalling it doesn’t help. Any suggestions? Marge

Useful, suggestions for improvement. We use this in a high school. Two requests for improvement so that we can continue to use it/not switch to another app: 1) it is not currently compatible with split screen view on the iPad. 2) you are not able to highlight footnotes.

Excellent Catholic Bible App. Found this app easy to use , performance is fast and works great on my iphone5 and iPad. You can highlight , bookmark and search verses. Touch the book title to switch books and swipe left/right to move between chapters. Really like the search capabilities in which you can filter results. Also a great price for the current edition of the Catholic Bilbe. Thanks for the great app.

Blank Index - app unusable. Index is blank even after re-installing and restarting. Solved: Does not work with new iOS update when in dark mode. Switched to light, and it’s all readable again!

New update. The new update doesn’t highlight with a color like before making it difficult to know what the reading is for the day

Daily Mass readings no longer work. Cannot access them from within the app. Seriously diminishes the utility of this application.

Use. Search does nothing. Only usefulness I see is getting the daily readings

Sunday Readings. I used this app to quickly find the Sunday readings and share. The latest update deleted that option , only giving me the first reading and the Responsorial. What a disappointment. I would like the option of choosing what want to see.

Not the NAB Revised Edition. This app is not the New American Revised Edition that is used by the Divine Office of the Catholic church. This is some other translation. I hope to cancel this order.

I read daily needs update for 2021. I hope this will update to 2021 liturgical calendar readings. I like this app it has easy access to the daily readings and gospel. Simple. Thank you

Very nice Bible app. This is really handy bible app for Catholics. The only niggle I had was that, since I occasionally went to Saturday Mass, I couldn't access the Sunday readings and would then need to use the USCCB web site for them. After the latest problems with the iOS upgrades I just happened to ask Greg about the issue. He quickly added the feature that now allows you to pick the day (swipe left or right) you wish to see the readings for. I think Greg has done a really good job with the app and it's well worth getting.

Favorite mobile bible. This is my favorite bible app. Now that the psalms from the daily readings are back I'll be using this daily. I'm a huge fan of seeing the daily readings within the context of the rest of the text.

Please improve. Would be very nice to have a night view alternative. Thanks.

Weekday solemnities, you need to correct the reading, Resp Psalm Citations. When there is a solemnity or a feast day on a weekday, it can be difficult or impossible to find the citation /link for the Resp. Psalm and Second Reading. If there are 2 readings on a weekday, I suggest you format that day like you format Sunday readings, with a dedicated line for each reading citation and also for the Responsorial Psalm. Thank you! Reader. This is a fantastic app! My older eyes find it a joy to read on my iPad versus my fine print hard copy. The table of contents is very quick and easy to use and the forward / backward page buttons are awesome. With this functionality you can always return to your original reading spot as you jump around to various sections in the Bible.

2021 readings. The app is useless without the updates and it’s already 2021. Are you continuing? Otherwise this is pretty good

What a great app!!!!!. Yes, there are a few bugs using it with IOS6 , But it is the best available app for the Catholic Bible! Greg, you have brought me back to reading the Bible daily ( well, nearly daily). It is great to always have a Bible with me. After you fix the bugs and are looking for something to do, perhaps integrating the daily Mass Readings. What you have done, Greg, is a wonderful ministry. May God bless you and your family.

Hi Greg, found your blog mention you are doing this as after work project .Firstly thanks for putting this bible Catholic approved version as I like to read my Bible on iPad and iPhone . A few things I thought would be great. When goes to each book instead of introduction, jump straight to chapter one. May be option to turn intro on and off.Secondly, search function like to be able to search whole bible not just each book. The loading time of Each book also seems to take 10 seconds or more. May be option to load chapter at a time to speed that up as need to know basis like Mail app. May be from book goes to chapters then to verse. Or have the options. Fetch as needed.Great resource would benefit with great search tool build in like type in John 3:16. Or type wine? Or bread or forgiveness or love. And can see how many entries in bible may be option to search new or old testament or highlighted books only. As we use bible as a book and also as a study reference. It's a Version 1 App. Been looking for this translation and glad to finally find it. However, compared to other bible readers, this app is quite slow to load the books. Really surprised that there is a delay when jumping to a particular book. Would be good to have a search interface like other bible readers for book, chapter, and verse. Also, putting footnotes at the end of the chapter is not user friendly. Have to keep scrolling down and up to view noted the return to the verse. A split view interface would be better. Finally can color scheme be changed? Not a fan of purple. :)

Excellent improvement on the footnotes. The latest edition is much better than the previous. It is easier to activate the footnotes than before, which is very important to me. It would be better if you can make the * for footnotes bigger. It would be useful if you can make further improvements to the daily mass readings. Now it is quite useless for traveling to different time zones. It would be best to allow the user to choose the date for the daily readings. Also, reading through highlighted broken (excerpts) sentences could be frustrating as I have missed some parts of the reading when the highlights are far apart.

Readings of the day. Few times the readings of the day doesn't appear. I also click on the "reading the bible in a year" and I can only read the Day 1. How do I proceed? Eleanor

Great application, could use some improvements. I love being able to read the bible on the go. I'd like to see 2 improvements for this application to make it great. (1) allow syncing between iPhone and ipad so I can pick Ip reading where I left off and have all of my highlights (2) allow highlighting of multiple verses at once. Right now, if I want to highlight a passage, I need to select every verse in the passage individually. Plus, my highlights section looks cluttered because it lists each verse separately instead of the whole passage. Thanks.

New interface doesn't interface!. This is a terrible change. I can't even scroll to the next section without going back to the contents (which I couldn't find till I read another review.). I may need to find another bible as I can't ease through this one at all! Don't fix what isn't broken!

Really enjoy and appreciate this app. I really enjoy this app. Use it daily to review and study scripture. Recommend it to all. My only issue is when I upgraded to the iPhone 5 and restored my data from iTunes I lost all my bookmarks and highlights... close to 100 versus. Is there anyway to have that data backed up with the app to iTunes?

Bookmarks. How about bookmarks to be able to save my place from day to day. Also, a table of contents of sorts to quickly reference the books of the Bible.

Love My New iBible. I am putting my old tattered hard copy away. It is easier than flipping through a book. The only features I wish it had are: a verse search by bible instead of by book & a notation feature. But love the bookmarks and that it knows where you left off when visiting a book.

NAB. Nice app. However cannot swipe left and right as advertised. Can swipe to return to a previous chapter. Cannot swipe to go to the next chapter.

Works for Great for Me. App works great for me. I have no problems on a iPad 1. Contrary to a previous review, the text is NOT downloaded when you need it, it is all there. I use remotely with an iPad WiFi model (no phone plan).

App. I used to be able to see the daily readings but now it doesn't give me that option anymore. When I click on the arrow on the left hand side it takes me to the chapters.

Verses numbering. I found the update faster however, the verses numbers were harder to distinguish as they are almost same color ink as the texts. Can this be fixed like a different color or use a font that we can differentiate better ?

SamListens. Using the read Bible in a year stopped working on day 351, until then there were only some minor issues. Sent an email to the developer but there has been no reply.

Wonderful. This app is great, no crashing for me. It also goes back to where I left off a great $3 dollar investment.

Flawed. The set up of this one year Bible is OK, but it has a serious flaw. The new testament readings often repeat themselves. For example, I'll read some verses for Matthew on a particular day, the next days reading will have the same verses for Matthew. I have not seen that on the old testament readings or the Psalms, but it has happened a few times on Matthew. I hope they would correct this soon.

Almost perfect.. It really needs note taking ability. Otherwise great.

Finally!. Finally, the Bible edition used for the Mass readings and probably read by most Catholics is available in an app approved by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Best of all, the app is offered at an affordable price. The interface is easy to use and see, and has the commentary so helpful to actually reading the Bible. Font size is adjustable. Just wonderful on an iPhone. Thanks so much!

Not recommended. There is no individual page turning. Each chapter is one LOOOOOOONNNNGGGG page you scroll down. If you leave page, it reverts back to beginning. This makes no sense. I have not bought the ebook version, but I think that will be better (but more expensive).

Visual appeal. The visual presentation is poor, at best. There are no margins, which help the eyes with reading. Every verse is separated from every other verse with a line. It makes reading the Bible a great difficulty, a chore instead of a pleasure. I regret purchasing it, and if there is no fix, there ought to be some way to get my money back.

Daily readings. I am trying to use this app to read the bible in a year....however, the book of Matthew keeps repeating chapters every other day. For example, chapter 7 will appear 2 days in a row. Not sure if this is suppose to happen or if it is a bug.

Incorrect Gospel Readings. For (at least) the last two days, the incorrect Gospel readings have been identified in Daily Readings. We should be reading from Matthew's gospel, not from Mark's gospel.

Highly Recommend.. App keeps getting better. We use it everyday. Move between books by touching the book title. Move between chapters by swiping left/right. Search is excellent as you can filter results by chapter, book, old testament, new testament and entire bible.

Catholic NAB Holy Bible. Excellent translation. Excellent App. Love the explanation on the lower part of the pages. Easy to go to any book in the Old or New Testament.

Fine until Day 83. Using Bible in a Year feature. Crashes at day 351. Uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Was great until then. Can't find a solution.

Doesn't work. Disappointed in this app. It crashes when opening some books and the search function doesn't work. Have reported the problem and no response.

Doesn't Work. I downloaded this New American Bible App on my I Phone4 and can't open any of it!! I've reported the problem but no response. If I delete and try to reinstall will I get charged twice? Any suggestions??

Half-star at best. Terrible design, bad menu, need a finger as tiny as a needle to get to the chapter you want, background shade changes each time I touch the screen - very annoying. Contrary to the description, the text is downloaded each time and takes time to display. I want my money back.

Wonderful!. Wonderfully presented and very easy to use. Many different options for those that want to change fonts, backgrounds etc.. This app presents the Bible in a beautiful manner and really invites people to actually read it!!! Thank you!

Keep Having to Re-Install :(. This is a great app - nothing fancy but it does the job, and is not dependent on an Internet connection (either wi-fi or 3G) for use. HOWEVER...since the iOS 5 update, I can open it one or two times, and then it just dies. It will open, but the menu is inoperable, as if it's frozen and nothing works. Have to delete & re-install, which only works 2-3 more times. I have reported this twice, but so far no fix :(

Maps!. I am a Catholic and remember the maps from my Bible. Care to add maps to this online version?

Psalms update. What has happened to the 2017 Psalms ?? This keeps up will need to find a new bible app. Only want to take one document or pad to bible study, church! Cannot count on the daily readings being correct without a second source. REALLY REALLY NEEEDS AN UPDATE FOR 2017.

NABRE on my iphone 3G. Great App! Easy to navigate. Nice to have the latest edition of the Catholic Bible on my iPhone. Also appreciate that this app has been approved by the Catholic Church. Great Price!

Outstanding!. The app makes it very easy to look up chapter and verse. I am new to bible study, and I have my phone in my hand with this app open all the time. It is easy to read, highlight, and take notes. Well worth the price.

Great App but!. I like the app very much but I was looking for something in Jude and it does not have the book there.

Excellent app. This is an excellent app that works well and really provides a lot of advantages over reading a hardcopy. The notes and references have allowed me to study the Bible in much greater depth than I have before. Also, with fairly regular updates, the app has improved substantially since I got it and continues to get new features.

A welcome update!. Thank you immensely for the update & daily readings back! I also like the format & the lighter highlight color for the daily Mass readings. Disappointing. The update erased my substantial bookmarks and highlights. What's more, the app crashes all the time. Please fix or bring back the old app. And please don't make a fix in the future that eliminates bookmarks or highlights.

new interface is too weird. one star for the the new interface which is too weird. took me a while to figure it out, because at first thought it was broken, but then figured out that you have to press the title bar at the top to go to the table of contents, then press a book name and then press a chapter number that's off to the side. very non-standard menu interface that may confuse a bunch of people. but looks like everything is there although people may have problems figuring out the new interface and menu system.

Errors found. Found large errors in wording from same paperback version I have. Otherwise it is okay, just have to pay attention while reading.

Dependable, Easy and Officially Catholic. I've been using this app daily for about 5 years. It's the translation approved by the US Bishops with helpful foot notes. Very easy to navigate, highlight and copy and share verses. I really like how it shows the daily readings so I can easily read the previous and following verses to get context.

Daily readings.. During this Lenten season I love having access to the daily prayers and they are no longer available. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app but with no success. Added, when I tap the book title, top center, that link no longer works either. Please fix soon. May peace be with you.

Best nab bible. The best print of most of the bible apps that I have been looking at. You can enlarge it to size 12 font, and it is sharp. Good navigation throughout app.
