Dexteria - Fine Motor Skills App Description & Overview

What is dexteria - fine motor skills app? Dexteria turns your iOS device into a therapeutic tool that improves fine motor skills and handwriting readiness in children and adults.

Dexteria’s unique hand and finger activities take full advantage of the iOS multi-touch screen to help build strength, control, and dexterity. The app's efficacy is supported by independent research studies, including a 2016 study by Huntington University published in the Journal of Hand Therapy.

• Increases coordination and motor control in the hands and fingers

• Works for kids and adults

• Automatically creates performance and usage reports that can be emailed

• Speeds recovery from injuries and stroke

• Designed in consultation with Occupational Therapists

• Turns the iPad into a therapeutic tool

For best therapeutic results the exercises should be done on a regular basis in short sessions. The exercises are designed to be repeatable and engaging.

The automatic tracking and reporting feature makes it easy for parents, teachers and occupational therapists to identify time on task and progress. You can email the progress reports right from the app itself.

Multi-user tracking is available as an in-app purchase. (Note to Volume Purchase Program customers: Consider buying Dexteria VPP instead. It includes multi-user tracking and you will pay a lower net cost than if you buy Dexteria and upgrade each copy via the in-app purchase. Just search "Dexteria VPP" in the app store.)

add an option. This is a great app. My kids love it but I would love it more if you could type words so they can practice writing their names properly ect.

So sad it won’t work on the new Apple software. As an OT this was my favorite app. But now the Write It game simply doesn’t work. The letters will not trace. I have deleted and the reinstalled the app 3 times. I am disappointed because it was a great motivator for teaching the HWT letter and number formation.

Great app for fine motor skills!. I am an occupational therapist working with children and young adults. We love this app! I really like the ability to work on dexterity, motor control, and strengthening all in one app. The kids enjoy each exercise and like to beat their best times. The parents like the fact that there is an affordable and fun way to do our home program exercises with little hesitation - using the iPad is a socially acceptable and fun way to work on skills. Thank you!

One of the best Apps I have ever bought!. My son is 7 and has DS and therefore fine motor skill engagement is necessary. He also has ADHD making his attention span even on medication short. We have been working on other apps using his fingers to draw letters, but this app has it all! The pinch it program is incredibly awesome! My son worked on the pinch it for more than 10 minutes each setting and requested to play the app over and over. Though he doesn't recognize what the colors do, it keeps him occupied to see more and continually challenges him. At the end of each level he screams "I WIN!!" I would say this is a must have to practice fine motor skills!

OT's need this app!. Dexteria - Fine Motor Skill Development is one of the mainstays in an OT's toolbox for teaching kids how to write. Why? Because it looks at learning to write from a developmental point of view. If kid's hands are not prepared to write- meaning the musculature is not there, then they can't control a writing utensil to form letters - Period. Dexteria has 2 games to develop hand skills before the third tracing the letters. The first game "Tap it", helps warm up the hand and introduces isolating the fingers, motor planning and sequencing. Using your thumb as an anchor each finger is called upon to tap a colored triangle. It's sort of like the light up memory game, but for fingers. The second game, "Pinch it" helps develop thumb and index control by picking up first little crabs that are stationary, and then stepping it up to moving targets. Finally, after giving the hands a brief wake up, tracing the letters are introduced. I love how every aspect of this app is thought out, from color schemes to activities. All modes can be translated to off screen games to refine these skills with real life manipulatives, which is the point of using an app for therapy. Data for accuracy and speed can be tracked and there is an in app purchase to expand data collection for unlimited users. Recommended.

Great app. Easy to use and very motivating. I was surprised how well it works on the iPhone screen. An excellent tool for fine motor practice, and would be great for teaching pre-writing skills.

Hand calibration. Is anyone else having issues with the hand calibration. It takes upwards of 10 minutes before the program successfully completes its calibration. Looks like a bug to me but I haven't seen any other comments about it.

Good. Good app for pre warm ups working with students who have handwriting difficulties as well as develop manipulation skills. I'm an OT and cannot wait to try this on my students. Have tried this on my 5 year old and loves it!

Dexteria. Outstanding app and I highly recommend it. Children are very motivated to use it. I'm a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and I use it to work on fine motor integration, fine motor precision, hand exercises, handwriting, writing speed, etc. The new Dexteria app for iPhone is excellent! Kudos to Frank Jensen and Binary Labs for the superb job in converting Dexteria to a small screen. I'm definitely looking forward to more highly motivating apps for iPad and iPhone from Binary Labs to facilitate fine motor skills.

Not enough games for the price. Too expensive for just three simple games with little variety for each level. Games are boring! No real challenges or significant increase in difficulty for each level. works only a few hand movements:lateral pinch not a tip to tip pinch as game does not activate when using a tip to tip pincer, works finger isolation but does not work manipulative skills, increase active range of motion or general dexterity. letter formation activity no better than apps that are free. Needs more work, more games and more variety before I can recommend this to patients and families.

Awesome fine motor app. This app has helped my children tremendously. They love the crab game and play it almost everytime they use the Ipad. Keep up the great work and for anyone that doesn't have this app and has special needs children I highly recommend it :)

Fine Motor Development. This APP was just what I was looking for. Some of my students need fine motor work and get over stimulated playing some of the game APPS so I needed to find something that meets the same needs.

Love it. I've used this app with many of my OT patients, pediatrics & hand therapy. I'd love to see more like it, or more options within this app. Thanks!

Thank you. Thank you for creating a great app and for being a part of A4CWSN!!! My daughter loves it and I'm happy she is getting some help with fine motor. She hasn't been well enough to attend OT and I was afraid she'd regress but not with your help! Thanks again!

Dexteria. Really liked this app. Great for Fine Motor development in home, school and in the car. Entertaining yet getting the fine motor work that is needed at the same time. Would love to see more apps like this developed.

2/3 of it are great. Pinch it and Trace it work very well. Tap it frequently does not work and will not calibrate the children's hands. When using Tap it the game will just shut down without warning. I like the other two games but the Tap it needs work.

Great for fine motor activities...... I really like the latest release of this app...especially the ability to work on not only lower case letters, but now also upper case letters and numbers. Great app for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. We love to pinch crabs at our house!

Great app. I'm an occupational therapist for children on all different levels. This app has been great to use and fun for kids.

Great OT app!. I am a school OT and love is app! My students will play the pinching activity far longer than they will use tongs/clips to practice pinching. Could you possibly add a choice of what they want to catch (balls, butterflies, etc.)? Some of my students are a bit wary of the crabs!

Use after stroke. Very helpful in relearning fine motor skills after a stroke.

Wendy G CCC speech/lanuage pathologist. This is a great app for children struggling with fine motor strength and coordination,It provides a fun platform to help kids strengthen fundamentals needed for handwriting. I have suggested it to many mixes I work with who turn away from traditional strengthening paper and pencil activities .They are always delighted to work on this app . The actual learning to print letters is the best I have seen ,

Only 1 out of the 3 games functions in a usable way. The crab pinch is the only game that works. The numbers game keeps repeating that we start at the arrow dot (there isn’t one?) and the other game that starts with fingers - I don’t even know what he’s supposed to do for that. He puts his fingers on the screen and then nothing else happens. It clearly isn’t functioning the way it’s intended.

Good app. I am an OT that uses this app with students on my caseload. I like how the writing program let's a student know when they are forming a letter incorrectly. This has been helpful to several students of mine. I use other therapy tools as well so I have not had my students get bored with writing program. Pinching program challenging for students until they get the feel for it. Variety would be nice instead of just crabs. Would like ease in tracking progress of multiple students. Overall helpful therapy tool.

The kids are loving it!. I am a school based OT and have been having students explore this with me. They love the pinching activity! I would let them practice this movement as an added reminder re/ pencil grasp. I like the letter tracing activity..being able to easily select the upper and lower case letters and in a very specific sequence. The finger isolation activity is neat but I need to work with the kids a little more on that one! I hope future versions allow tracking numerous kids.

Wonderful for fine motor skills!. I definitely think Dexteria is a worthwhile app- it works on 3 skills- pinching, finger placement/coordinated tapping of fingers such as in keyboarding, and handwriting (tracing of upper and lowercase letters, and numbers). It gives good auditory feedback to show when your stroke is incorrect and gives you a chance to fix it. It also takes data! It will tell you how many seconds it took to complete each letter for example, or how many crabs were pinched, and so on. A great app to reinforce needed fine motor skills!

Great for therapy. I'm an occupational therapist and really enjoy this app. It is great for fine motor and handwriting development. My kids love using it and it makes for fun therapy sessions. The only thing I would suggest is some updates so u don't have to just pinch crabs, maybe u could have different things as a target. Also I wish there was cursive letter tracing and maybe some "blank" paper so kids could practice without tracing.

Not great for iPhone. This app may be great on an iPad, but doesn't translate well to the iPhone. The letter tracing doesn't show up on the screen at all and the tapping exercise is very difficult to calibrate on the smaller screen. I wish this had been mentioned before I purchased this relatively expensive app.

Really good!. I have a 5 yr old son with autism, and he took to this app really easily! He particularly liked the pinching game. The writing practice was also useful for me to see his ability as he is only now learning to write. The hand coordination game is still too difficult for him, but he is trying to master it. Thanks a lot for these exercises!

Very Good. I use this to improve my finger strength and independence. The basic settings are good for young kids but not very challenging for Adults. Fortunately you can adjust each levels setting to a point where it can be impossibly difficult if you so chose. I use this daily and have dramatically improved finger independence.

Good app-just take it to the next level. After children use a few times they need more variety to make choices, as one reviewer suggested, something other than crabs. E.g. Ink blobs, Lima beans, candy dots or?? I use the shapes scores to encourage improvement.

Great app. I too use this app for occupational therapy and it would be great it you could enter different users and track their progress. I use it in elementary and middle school. The tap is even difficult for middle schoolers with fine motor issues, really helps.

Dexteria tap it. Love this app, so useful in therapy. However, many of my students are frustrated by the timed component when tapping their individual fingers. It would be great to be given an untimed option for the Tap It portion of this app. It would allow the students to be given the extra processing time needed when learning to isolate their fingers, while minimizing frustration.

Great updates/upgrades. Bravo Dexteria. The exercises are much more doable for my autistic 5 year old son who needs a lot of work on his fine motor skills. Previously he became frustrated with how fast the tap exercises moved. But now it's great. Thank you.

Good app. This is a great app to work on fine motor skills. The letter portion is very sensitive and is frustrating for many kids, the finger isolation portion is great but tough for kids with weakness because their palms droop to rest on the screen, the pinching is great for all ages but I'd say the rest is great for 7 years plus- I also recommend using a stylus pen with the letters. But overall- it's a great app and totally worth the price.

Can't get Tap It section to work. App shuts down automatically when doing hand calibration on the Tap It section. Other two sections work fine. Disappointed I paid money for something that seems really glitchy. I even turned off my iPad's multitasking gestures as indicated, still didn't work.

Disapointed. I bought this app after reading all the hoopla over it and I must admit , technically, it's a very well done app. I think the exercises are benificial to those needing fine motor practice, but bottom line is this app is dull and boring to the children who need it most. It's a prime example of therapy for therapy's sake with no real purpose or reward for all the hard work. I would suggest cake and cookie doodle apps for most of the same theraputic exercises at a fraction of the cost AND your kids will not want to stop playing because at the end of the game, they have something beautiful to behold.

Isn't working the way it should. I was disappointed with the lack of responsiveness of the app. The window shade is still an issue to be fixed - the whole alphabet tracing activity locks up once the window shade is activated. The other activities only work correctly part of the time. I can't use this as it is with my students. What a waste of money.

Needs. I agree with needing cursive letters to trace and a way to track progress of many students. Doing therapy on the iPad has greatly increased motivation for kids so thanks for Dexteria!

So much fun he doesn't get that he's gaining skills. This program actually makes my son willing to work on fine motor skills! His favorite is "pinching" the crabs. A skill he pretty much hates in any other setting. He's also gaining valuable knowledge by working on learning the strokes involved with making his letters, just in time for Kindergarten. Thanks for such a great program!

high score board?. tracking a single child's scores from day to day would be helpful... some variety in the pinching game would help. 10 levels...could we do those same levels again, only with a slightly smaller animal? if this game were free i MIGHT have given 4 out of 5 stars, but we paid for it, and it lacks the 'longevity factor' as all of the kids i've used this (albeit, great) program with, have gotten bored in just 2 weeks, even though we are limiting them to 10 minutes of use per day. my own child (who does not have any dexterity troubles except for her age factor) used this program and got very bored and frustrated with the seemingly tedious letter-writing function. even when i try it, it frustrates me. it is great but you have to tell kids it's only a computer and give them lots of positive feedback so they don't give up all together. we tried it with the stylus, but you can't lean your hand on the tablet while you are writing, and that IS how a normal person would write, so it only serves to function for dexterity issues...which i think should NOT be mixed with academic writing process, as it could confuse children who may struggle with other possible recognition problems, etc.

Dexteria. As a resource room teacher, I bought this app knowing it would help my 2nd grade student with Apraxia. I have found that ALL my LD students benefit and extremely ENJOY 'playing' these games before we do any writing. Even my dyslexic students now look forward to writing as long as they can "get their fingers ready to write" first!! Thanks for such a useful app!! My only suggestion would be the option to keep track of more than one student's progress. I use this with several students and have to erase, or write down on a piece of paper, where each student ended.

Good-could be great. I am an OT working with students 5-18. I have used it with maybe 5 kids, mostly high school. Would like to be able to track each client within the program. Would like more than the 3 games. Kids seem challenged by the crabs. I couldn't get the first level to work.

Not for small children. I bought this app for my fine motor challenged 2 1/2 year old, thinking this could help him. It's far too difficult for him to even attempt. The crab pinching activity was the only activity he would even try, but there was no option to make the crabs bigger and work his way down. Perhaps I'll try it with him if he still needs it in a couple of years...

Good App. This app might have saved the way I use my hands(I mean I'm trying to use my right hand for eating and doing things),but still I'm not so good at the writing part. Well, maybe it needs an upgrade with more activities like writing stuff, of course. Anyways, sort of a good app.

Not for leftys. I got this app for my son. He is left handed and makes his letters different than the exercises. You think it would have a setting for left or right hand dominance. Disappointed :(

Definitely an app for higher functioning SN kids. I thought maybe this app would be helpful to use with the kids with autism I work with. However, lower functioning kids may will have a hard time following the directions. Calibrating the screen in the "Tap It" was next to impossible for my kids, even with my hand over hand guidance. Wobbly fingers were everywhere! This app will definitely be fun for kids who need help with fine motor skills and are able to understand and follow instructions without much hand over hand guidance. The "squish" sound when the crabs are pinched is just gross enough for my 6 year old to to love. The writing section may be frustrating for some kids who don't "get it right" within 2 tries. I even had some difficulty writing the letters and it took me several tries to get it right. Overall, it's a nice app with some cool activities for kids who need help with fine motor skills.

Melissa Ingram. App not easy to work for children and letters and numbers won’t trace red as instructed on app before I purchased. Please refund me

Great app but disable multitasking gestures. To JAC teacher: I believe the problem you are experiencing with Tap it stems from the new feature called Multitasking Gestures introduced with Apple iOS. You may experience Tap it issues if you have multitasking gestures turned on for your iPad. Multitasking gesture allows you to use 4 or 5 fingers to reveal the multitasking bar, pinch to return to the home screen, and to swipe left/right to switch between apps. Please follow the steps below to try and get it working: 1. On your iPad, open the Settings app, click General on the left, and then scroll to Multitasking Gestures on the right. 2. Toggle Multitasking Gestures to OFF. 3. Launch Dexteria > Tap it to see if it is functioning again.

Help. I like this app but can not get the finger tap activity to work. When we place our fingertips on the screen, no buttons appear and the app closes. The other activities on this app work fine. Can someone help?

dexteria Tammy Hadley. wow I was able to pick this up when it was at a discounted price...being a member of the facebook group A4cwsn there was a lot of talk about this app... just had to try it when it went on sale ... the talk was right ... I am amazed at how quickly my son ( 3 yrs old Autistic child ) was able to pick it up and start using it .He loves pinching crabs lol...the fine motor that he is getting is wonderful... even is O.T. loves it. Simple and to the point love it !

Alas. The first of the 3 games (Tap It) keeps freezing and does not respond. Very disappointing, as this was the drawcard in purchasing. Have tried on numerous occasions to make it work, to no avail. Sent a message to Dexteria support. maybe they can fix it?

My son loves it!. My son loves it. The crabs are his favourite and it's great for developing his fine motor skills…he hates when they turn read so he tries to beat them and get rid of the crabs before it happens!

Great app.. Easy to use. Great for fine motor, my son loves it.

Not Worth The Money. Write It is useful. Pinch It is just a game, while the biggest disappointment is Tap It which is totally useless for someone with adult sized fingers.

Fantastic App. This program is amazing my son 6 has aspergers and he loves playing it along with his little brother (4) . Thank you to the people who created this keep up the great work

Annie D.. I did not turn off the multi gestures and the app works just fine. Thank you so much. My 5yr old's hand writing was messy as he had no strength in his fingers to grip his pen. Since using this app it has improved 80%. He has so much control in his fingers it is amazing he no longer just drops things he is holding in his hands. My 3yr daughter has also started using it. Fantastic! Everything has improved, cutting, folding, pasting, painting etc..

Really cool and very fun!. I think it works too!

Fabulous App. My 4 year old son with autism LOVES this app. Now that he knows his alphabet verbally, he is excited to learn to draw the letters. Not yet up to the other parts of the app, we'll get there I suppose soon!

awsome app. thanks for supporting A4cwsn and what a great and usefull app this is, my daughter can now hold a pencil :)

Dexteria 1.1. A great App for improving finger control needed for fine motor activities such as writing, keyboards, music.

WOW!. Loving this! Wish I had an ipad, but still fun on the ipod touch! good work guys!

Excellent. Worth every cent. My students love the crabs!

Great app. Perfect for my 6yo ASD son. And he loves it which is a bonus.

Dexteria. A problem in the app causes difficulties in Multitasking Gestures. Therefore, the app requests the user to turn off their multitasking gestures in Settings. If you do this, you lose the use of all multitasking gestures, so why would you bother? Rated very low, as if the designers can't get this app to work with iPad system, then they should forget the deal.

Wonderful!. Worth every penny! This is a powerful tool to use in the classroom!

Mr. Absolute ripper! Make sure all your kids get to use this. Best tool around for pre schoolers or kids with a special need.

Fantastic app that really works. Just got this yesterday I could feel intrinsic muscles in my hand gently ache which suggests it is targeting the strengthening of the hand.

Great. This is the first app that has my son tracing letters properly. We only got it today and he can do the letters well despite his fine motor problems. Thanks

Great app!. What a wonderful, useful, helpful app! It is challenging for people of all ages and I can see improvement in my daughters fine motor skills after only a short time. I highly recommend this app to anyone who wants to improve fine motor skills and get some "brain training" at the same time! Oh and it is fun, and kids are learning at the same time... Can't ask for more than that!! Kylie VDH

There's better. Was recommended by my daughters teacher as she has learning difficulties. Disappointed to have to turn off multi gesture. Over priced for what you get. There's better around.

Fantastic Application. Dexteria is a Fantastic App , I love pinch it ,i find Tap it very challenging , as an adult i find it really fun for myself and the writing is going to really help my kids . Thank you for making such a helpful tool !

Great App!. This is a fantastic app! Its ability for kids to practice their finger isolation, pincer grip and tracking abilities is great! I love the way it keeps records that you can email too yourself or parents is great too! Thanks! And thanks for supporting A4CWSN!!!

Excellent app until iOS5: crashes non stop.. I really loved this app and used it a lot with my kids for fine motor skills development. Really outstanding. Then iOS5 came out and this app crashes between 20 seconds and 2 minutes uf use, on the finger tapping part. I waited at first, as iOS5 was new, to give time to the Devs to fix it. We are now in February 2012, still no progress: I have to rate it badly because whatever good it has, you canèt use it. Save yourself 5$ until it has been iOS5 fixed...

Unpolished. I bought this app for two reasons- I like the idea of a game where a child can work on fine motor on the go, and it says it can be used in French for my francophone clients. The games are cute, but the writing is hard to do without bringing down the nightshade is OS5. The Language translations are horrible- you must have your phone in French via utilities to use it (why no option to just use the app in French?) and while the menus and directions have been translated- the actual games haven't. Ie: when a child writes a number, it's spoken in English despite the fact that the phone is set to French. How confusing is that? For a 5$ app I expected much better.

Ms. I have recently had a stroke and dexterity has been part of my therapy to work at getting my fine motor skills to return

OTR. Perfect for children working on fine motor control and strengthening in or out of therapy! Love the app and use it all the time.

Awesome. Great app I use it daily in occupational therapy.

Love this app!. Fun and useful!

Love this app for fine motor skills!. Great app for practicing letters and fine motor skills.

Great program and love tap it and pinch it.. The letter trace can be frustrating for kids with low fine motor skills.

Fro. This app is fro

Good app. Have liked this app

Very helpful. It has helped my daughter improve her dexterity!

not worth the money. Its nothing special. I don't think its worth $5.

Great app!. i ABSOLUTELY LOVE dexteria! This app has helped my daughter (with apraxia and motor issue)'s fine motor so much!! (AND SHE LOVES TO "PLAY" IT!!!!!) THANKS!!!!!!

Great app!!. I have been using this app with my daughter to practice her motor skills. We have little competitions on the skills, and I always lose, of course :) Decent variety of skills, but I think you should add some more. The ramping up of the difficulty levels are done pretty well. Not too easy and not too hard. My daughter gave it a thumbs up!

Doesn't work good in Ipad 3. Just purchased, didn't like it, hand calibration doesn't work so is letter writing, no matter how mich pressure you applied to the touchscreen, it didn't draw any line at all, please UPDATE!!!

Completely Regret This Purchase. This app is horrible. It's awkward, boring, and clumsy, and with the new iOS, the Notification Center tab is constantly being activated by my son when accessing the letters, and he has tiny fingers. Spend the $3 on a pencil and paper. Giving 1 star is generous...

Awesome. This game is a must have for school based occupational therapists. Love quality educational apps. Thanks! :)

Huh?. So far I'm very disappointed. This not worth 4.99. I got it for my daughter with special needs . The triangle touch seems good but the crab pinch is totally lame. The crabs do nothing. No movement, no sound. And there are other children's apps that have far superior tracing practice.

great fine motor app. This app is so engaging and helpful at the same time. Making learning fun! Thanks for a great app!

Great. As a school based OT, this APP rox! Engaging, available for iphone use, and measures outcome! Thank u for making it!

Favorite app!. I first saw this app on the A4cwsn website and wanted it. Could t get iTunes to work and then today I got it. I love this app!

Great app!. I love this app. I teach Special Education to very low functioning middle school students. I stumbled onto this app when doing some on line research for teaching ideas to use with my students. I did not have an iPad at the time, so just filed the info away for future use. I finally talked the principal into getting my class an iPad and this was one of the first apps I downloaded. I am very impressed with it. My students like the crab pinching game and the letter tracing game best. They are getting a real work out and I am seeing some improvement. I showed the occupational therapist the app and she was very impressed. She checked out the letter tracing and said it reinforces the correct way of writing the letters. Too many apps with letter tracing do not show students the correct order to form the letters. So that is a good feature. All-in-all, the app is very well done. It is simple to use and very professional. There is one thing to remember, though. Go to settings from the iPad home screen. Turn off the "multitasking gestures" setting when you use this app. It won't work properly otherwise. This app would be great for parents who want to work with a student who is having problems with fine motor skills or handwriting. It is not babyish like some of the apps that cover handwriting, so it is good for any age. I could see this as being good for people who are recovering from stroke or injury that affects fine motor skills. This would also be good in any grade level regular education classroom as individual work for students who are having problems with handwriting and fine motor skills. Often students don't quite make the cutoff for eligibility for special services, such as Occupational Therapy, but still need help. This is a very good use for this app, and could even be used in the documentation process to show that interventions have been tried in the regular ed class, prior to referral for special services. If you are a teacher or therapist using this app, you will like the upgrade that they just put on the app. Now there is an option for multi-student tracking. Get this app. It is one of the best I've seen and well worth the small cost!

luv it. really helping my son coordinate hand control

Love this!. My students say it helps their handwriting, and that writing is becoming easier.

my students find it boring. after a couple of minutes, they want a new app.

Great app!. Great for my pediatric OT patients!

Just what my first grader needed!. Summary: good for children having trouble with their "handwriting"/fine motor skills. Good oral feedback. Nice tracking/reporting feature for parents. My child showed improvement. Feel app was well worth the money. Wish they made more apps this good. Details: The sounds and movements in the pinching crab exercise make it a fun game for my son that entices him to practice. He picked it right up and stared playing. Over weeks I have seen an improvement in his pencil grip. This is an improvement we were not able to accomplish with regular writing exercises, hand holding, grip devices or other apps. The writing exercises use strategically placed targets to help with letter/number formation. I like the escalating corrective feedback. I have described this to others as having an occupational therapist over your shoulder. The targets and the feedback are what set this app apart from other "tracing" apps. Seeing my son's poor "handwriting" I looked for handwriting apps to help him practice. He loved the music and the animation. However it was easy for him, there was no "consequence" for errors or verbal coaching him to correct mistakes. This comes to one of my two adjustment opportunities. I didn't find this app until I used the vernacular of the industry. As a parent, I saw this as a "handwriting" problem to be solved. When the school reinforced this calling it a "fine motor skills" issue I used that verbiage in my key word search. That is how i found this app. They need to tag the product so it gets in the hands of those who really need it. Second opportunity - totally selfish - make more apps that are such a beautiful marriage of professional expertise and software development. This app did what I needed it to wonderfully. I had a desired goal that I did not know how to accomplish. This app did it and distinguished itself while doing so. [Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this company. I am just a very satisfied customer.]
