Please change the update. This update seems to be a step backwards. The radar has became less clear, and the map was better in previous versions. The warning colors are also worse. It is very hard to tell the difference between a serve thunderstorm warning and a tornado warning. This app was better in the previous version. Please update it for the better.

concerning. I just updated and now the splash screen is just as annoying but isnt properly scaled to my screen size. This does not bode well for the rest of the app. Guys, if I have to see a stern Spann pointing at me everytime i switch back to this app, at least get the image right.

Accurate weather. Great app, has settings to limit notification, accurate weather reporting and my go to during tornado season to get warning/watches!

Frustrating!!. This has potential to be a great app. It is hampered by several things. 1) If you multitask, like most phone users and swipe out of the app, it will show the splash screen and you must wait for it to attempt to reload the data again. 2) If for some reason it can’t load the weather data, the app just sits on the map with no weather overlay. There is no option to refresh. You must close the app and hope it reloads on the next try. 3) The weather data loading process on this app is apt to fail regularly on this app even with a good internet connection. 1 Star because that’s the lowest I can give, +1 for James Spann and his team, who despite this app, are a valuable resource for the state of Alabama. Especially during severe weather season.

Great app. I love this! Works perfect for me. All alerts go off when it needs to and great radar!

Latest update. The writing is way too small in this latest update. There is nothing wrong with my vision, and I can barely read the daily screen.

Updated app. Since the update this is the worst radar. If there’s a watch or warning, you can’t see the radar underneath. I’ve tried adjusting the transparency but it’s not enough. Most of the time the daily forecast at the bottom doesn’t even show up. Please go back to the way it was.

Does not display colored warnings in the map. Does not display colored warnings like tornado watch in the map. Have this problem only one one of my phones. Tried every setting and to reinstall. But nothing helps to show the warnings one that phone like on the others

From awesome to trash. This has always been my favorite weather app. The last few months I’ve had trouble with it not wanting to load. I have to keep closing out the app. Need maintenance!!!

Never Accurate. For James Spann to be the best meteorologist in the whole world, this app surely ain’t what it do. It’s NEVER right. It’ll say it’s gonna rain all day & it’ll be sunny. Every time. There’s no in between. It’s always wrong. I know James Spann doesn’t run the app, but you’d think they would follow suit to his predictions of the weather! It hasn’t been right for years. I prefer the weather channel or just seeing for yourself what the weather is gonna do.

Terrible App, never works correctly.. This is one of the worst apps I’ve ever downloaded. It was super slow to load and if it did load the live feed would not start when needed.

Works great!!!. Added multiple locations and current location. Can switch between radar daily and hourly all in one place

James Spann voice. Since elementary school, James Spann’s voice has been the one I’ve heard when the weather got ugly. I think I’d pay more attention if the notifications were in his voice.

Radar unreliable. Almost every time we have thunderstorms in the area the radar goes out. When we need it most.

New colors. 33/40 weather app down to 3 stars on reviews now! I tried to tell them the new watch/warning color scheme was confusing....not to mention dangerous when trying to ”respect the polygon”! Especially if the polygon looks like every other watch/warning on the map! Bad decisions for new update!

Safari Issue. Safari should not be trying to open a Kindle book with this app. There should be no web hook at all for really anything but from the ABC site. Please remove all web hook references and update.

Latest update a flop. This most recent update is a couple steps backwards from the last update. Radar mode is not as good as the previous map. If it isn’t broke don’t try and fix it. Please give us a better map. I’m currently looking for another that has a better view than this update.

Live Stream. I enjoy the app but I SHOULD NOT have to go to Facebook to watch a tornado warning that’s effecting my area. I went to the weather app to watch James Spann and see the weather alert and there is NO live stream of the the weather. I can’t get anything in tv and have to stream it through Facebook. THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND NOW!!! I’m only giving it 3 stars because it’s still a good app but you need to work on the live stream! I am upset as I am not able to find any info on potential tornadoes in my area except on freaking Facebook!

iPhone glitch. Since the latest version update, the app rarely opens on my iPhone 8, which never happened before. Tried many things but it will get to the point where the red “Alfa” commercial opens but always stalls at that point ?

Desperately Needs An Update. This app has been updated to where it is basically useless. Around 75% of the time when I open it now, it says the application isn’t available in my location. If I can’t get the app to open, it’s useless. It’s got to have an update soon or it’s getting deleted, no matter how much I love James Spann.

Too many notifications. I only need notifications on the weather when it’s bad. I don’t need it to tell me it hot out. I already know that. Best weather app is dark sky. Your watch and phone only goes off if the weather is bad. Not a add to buy something then the weather.

Out of area notifications. This app continues to give me updates for an area that I’m no where around. I drove down I65 passing by the Calera exit and now I keep getting “Heavy Rain Detected in your Location”, NO- I’m 42 miles from there. Plus, I don’t get any notifications for where I’m actually at. App needs some way to clear the cache of past locations at least. Also, got to love clicking the “App Support” link- it only opens the ABC33/40 apps News Feed! 👍🏼👍🏼

Used to work great. Has something changed recently?Sometimes it will load and sometimes it won’t get past James asking if I have a plan, the cover page. I do auto updates so just wondering.

Doesn’t always open. The app does not always open. I have to turn my phone off and let it reboot. Afterwards, the app will open 3, maybe 4 times, then it will open to photo of James Spann and freeze. I’ve had my phone checked and was told the problem is with the app. I have the version with the option of the live weather broadcast. My husband has older app that does not have this option, and his app always works fine. The App Store will not allow me to get older app. I have notified the news station of this problem several weeks ago, but the problem still persists.

New update. So far, this app has gotten 10x better. Finally. But I love it now.

Go back to the old version.. After this last update I only get you see a picture of James Spann pointing at me. I used to rely on this app daily for my information, and now I only find myself opening it out of habit. If something isn’t broke, don’t fix it.

No location.. This used to be the best weather app. But after an update a year or so back I can rarely get my location (no blue dot) or even roads and highways to be labeled. Not even interstates. As a trucker I need weather info for driving conditions. Had it for years but it’s time to delete this one. So sad to say.

Stations should hold these creators to account. This is a highly necessary and useful app that has been hijacked by it’s creators/maintainers, absolutely debilitating this fantastic weather team. 1. This app freezes devices. One must shut down and restart their device to even get it to open temporarily. 2. The current is not current. Just one example: often outside your window will be utterly overcast (not foggy)with zero clouds on the map. Not all clouds show and it is difficult to discern clouds from fog. 3. Fire? Don’t see it as an option. Why? Large wildfires should be visible on radar, no? 4. There is too much parsing of info on radar. 5. There are not enough options for necessary information. I have seen and experienced the same on other stations’ apps who use the same radars. In this particular case, James Spann has saved countless lives in his weather reporting. In this station’s area it can be critical to survival to pay close attention and have the latest information; the purpose of this app. It is a shame to see this weather team, this critical info, and the viewers who rely upon it so seriously hampered by the actions of the creators of this app.

Change the opening screen. Look, I’m as big a James Spann fan as anybody, but I don’t want to look at him angrily pointing at me every single time I open the app. The splash screen reappears even if I exit and immediately return to the app. Just put the station logo on the splash screen and calm down with the staged talent photos

Preferred previous version. The satellite map is too dark and strains my eyes. You can change to light or dark but lose the satellite option. Also noticed I only have a 7 day forecast under the daily tab. What happened to the 10 day forecast?

This version will not open. I have successfully used the ABC 33/40 Mobile Weather App for many years. This version opens with a message saying that “weather is not available for my location” and there is nothing else to do! I had to delete.

Rules guy. The app is fairly accurate but here are the issues. 1) it takes a LONG time to even load. I love the three of them but I really don’t want to see them that long 2). I don’t really care about the radar as the main thing. I want temp, wind, forecast and rain probability. They’re there but heck they are isolated in the lower left corner in a font that is almost impossible to see. That should be the main focus. If I were you I’d find a different weather app.

Current temp is often badly off. Where does this app pull current temp? It is frequently 10 or more degrees off from actual temp. Were it not for this defectI would hav egiven 5 stars. Everything else works fine. By the way...this bug also affects Samsung Galaxy S7 as well as iPad.

Where is the news?. I get countless notifications of news and stories that say open app to learn more, but when you click on the notification the story is not there, and no information about it is there. Half of the tabs don't work, the weather tab crashes the app. If you want a totally useless app that will never give you the information you want, then this is the app for you.

Regression. I loved this app, at one time. Before this last update, the app was clear and easy to read and understand. I miss having the towns/cities labeled on the warnings and earthquakes. I’m considering changing my weather app.

Trouble with app. I loved this app until about two days ago when I updated now after I answered the questions about location and settings the app closes by itself and takes me back to my home screen. Please fix this app because I love to use it every morning to check my local forecast. Thank you

Go back to old version. This new update is so confusing to read the radar. I like the older version much much better and easier to read. Maybe just change the color codes on this new version and it’ll be better.

Bad update. Seriously not happy with the latest update. I actually like it when the ‘future’ feature did and showed something. Now it takes at least six rounds to get updated on the future feature, and then not anywhere near accurate. Not happy with this update at all. Go back to the way it was.

Keeps crashing. I’m in the middle of a severe weather outbreak with tornadoes and it keeps crashing! How am I supposed to check the radar to keep track of the warning polygons?

ABC 33/40 Weather app. I’ve been using this app for years and now all of a sudden it says “application cannot be used in your current location “. I still live in the same place 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’ve depended on this app for accurate weather for years and I really hate to see it go. Hope y’all can fix this.

Issues. This app has been great until recently. It keeps tell me the app isn’t currently available for my area when I’ve always had it. Please fix!

Fix it. Slow and crashes constantly

Warning Colors. They tornado watch color is red and warning color is red. It is hard to see where tornado is. You may have a way to change colors in app but if you don’t, it would be nice. Thank you

Just uploaded. So far so good..... I like how you can add different areas and title them. That way I can keep up with alerts for my college kid and parents. I also like how it includes traffic along with the weather. I was skeptical because of the bad reviews but it's James Span so how can you really go wrong? Taking the chance and trying it out

Most recent update has bugs. The most recent update needs some fixing. Nothing loads or refreshes and radar doesn’t work.

SPAM & NO LIVE VIDEO. This “WEATHER” app spams you with notifications that aren’t even weather related—EVEN when you turn off “Station Notifications” from your local TV station. Most of the other notifications that ARE actually weather related don’t have anything to do with warning you in the event of severe weather. I don’t need the app to tell me it’s going to be a bright, sunny day or that storms happened yesterday... Eleven or more irrelevant notifications a day from this one app make me want to turn off ALL the notifications, which would of course make it where I wouldn’t get the important, lifesaving ones when needed. What would really make this app better, in addition to fixing the above, would be to make the load time faster (the splash screen stays on for too long) and to put the LIVE weather videos with James Spann on the app. Otherwise, what’s the point of having an app? I can get NOAA alerts from other apps. There were no video updates for 5+ hours on the recent deadly storm situation the other day as the situation started to get bad and after live videos ELSEWHERE already had been giving detailed info on the potential tornadoes that were popping up all over the map. If I hadn’t gotten my weather info FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE, I could have been in real trouble that day. Please add LIVE videos to the app as severe weather is being covered. Thank you!

Slowest app on the face of this earth. It’s a super easy app to use, super specific, all around great app. Except if I need to check the radar during severe weather, I’d probably die in a tornado before the thing loaded. I’m currently Co piloting in the car in downtown Atlanta traffic in severe weather and you people are no help to me except taking up space on my phone. Fix it, and I’ll give a better review! 🙂

Very good app. The app is crashing every time I try to select “Gatlinburg,TN” from the drop down list. Also, I love and trust James Spann, and that is why I got this app. It doesn’t disappoint. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it takes way too long to open. I like looking at James, but not for THAT long! Haha Please make it open faster!!

Great simple weather app!. Really enjoy your app. Although whenever there is a weather forecast heading on top of your main map, I can't expand the map, as the heading hides the expand feature on top left corner. I cannot view full screen of map. Can you possibly add a seperate button for Maps, or put the map expand feature on the bottom of front page map, so weather announcements can't cover it? Thanks.

?!What Happened?!. This is TERRIBLE!! App is crashing at opening. Wish I could show a negative star because there really is no excuse for an app to crash when you try to open it.

New map colors. Love the app & would have given 5 stars, however, since the last update the standard green rain clouds blend in almost completely with the green of the map. Not sure if it was the ABC 33/40 update or iPhone update that messed it up... Still love the app & ABC 33/40 weather team though!

Need an update!. With the most recent iOS updates the app fails when entering certain cities. E.g., Nashville, TN

Missing 10 Day Forecast. New update only gives you a 7 day forecast. I miss the 10 day forecast!!!!!! Please add it back!!

Update isn't working. I love this app, but the update only had me answer location questions. Then it closed out. Every time I try to open it the only thing that comes up is that first photo and then it closes out. PLEASE FIX IT!

App and TV forecast vary greatly. The app says 80% chance of rain, but the TV forecast says 30%. The app is wrong very frequently.

Not great. Half the time there are storms it doesn’t load radar

Awesome!. Great features like storm tracks to show you direction of storm and a future animated radar to show you a futuristic outlook where and what time a storm may approach your location. Also gives warnings and watches and videos. Best of all features the world famous Mr. James Spann! If he can't predict it no one can!

App won’t open. This newest version has a bug that won’t allow my app to open at all. Just closes back up. Please fix.

James Spann in your pocket!. Being someone who hasn't lived in the ABC 3340 viewing area in some years I was so happy to find this app. I trust James Spann and the team to warn us of severe and non threatening storm systems as they move though Alabama. This is great for those of us slightly out of the viewer range, ie Dekalb County. ** The new update is amazing, and finally fits my iphone 5's screen. Thanks ABC 33/40!!**

Excellent! Everything you need.. Great app. Very easy to use. Everything you need in a weather app. Im able to use current location or check on where I live or even check the weather/storms where my parents are to make sure they stay safe. Highly recommend.

Spot on!. The most complete all around free weather app. This is a news station based out of the south and I believe it to be as accurate as my local forecast here in New England. I like the way it stays up to date. Good Job!

VERY GLITCHY!. I had issues with it uploading with previous versions of iOS, but it is getting worse with ios8. It doesn't want to upload and now it is constantly saying it can't determine my location from the GPS. My other apps have no problem with that. I've almost stopped using it and rely on my IMAP weather app instead. At this point, if something doesn't change considering deleting, it's just taking up space! Very dissatisfied. Update: just deleted this app! Tired of it crashing 75% of the time when you try to open it! Waste of data! I downloaded so I could keep up with dangerous weather conditions and if you can't open it it doesn't do you any good! Rotten app!

Wrong Temp. Not sure what happened but the app can’t get the temps right in Helena Ala. It’s always 10-15 degrees off

Telling me Unable to Find Location. I love this app and 33/40! But since the last update, the app keeps telling me it cannot find my current location and is taking a long time to load. I hope this gets fixed soon. I use this app a lot!

App changes. This has been the only weather app i use but don’t like the new look

Good app with room for improvement. When it comes to broadcast weather, ABC 33/40 is unquestionably the best in our area, so when I downloaded this app I was expecting the same standard of excellence, not the WSI stock app being used by the joke that passes for a meteorologist at WBRC! To add insult to injury, WBRC does a better job of keeping their video forecast up to date. The 33/40 weather team consistently out performs everyone else in the market, including NWS. I want their forecast via the web, not WSI's. How hard could it be to routinely post the video forecasts and the radar map that includes watch highlights, warning polygons, and lightning strikes that you already prepare for 33.2? Finally, and perhaps most important you need to add a live stream here anytime you interrupt normal programming for a weather emergency. I wouldn't expect this much from anyone else, but I expect nothing less from ABC 33/40.

Include blog. Layout is good but needs to include the blog and access to severe weather live stream as was included in the previous version. We are talking about something over a quarter million people in the state view every day. That alone should be enough reason to include it within the weather app. Also many of us rely on a portable way to view live stream in severe weather situations.

Super!. This is a superb app for extreme weather. I can get a live TV broadcast of James on my Iphone from any wireless hotspot when my satellite TV is blocked by the rain or I'm not near a radio. This is a real service to us all. Thank you!

No live stream. I shouldn’t have to get on Facebook to see a live weather report. Why can’t I stream it on this app??! This needs to be fixed!!

Radar. I hate the new radar. I loved the old one and I can’t tell anything about the new one.

Glitch in the app. When I try to save a location, the app crashes. I deleted it and reinstalled three times.

Bring back old version!. The old app was so much better - I especially do not understand why there is no link to access the blog! This is a huge disappointment so I will continue to use the old app as long as possible. I could change locations easier in previous version. The new app is also disappointing in appearance and readability compared to the old one. I see many folks agree - could you have just made the enhancements you felt were needed without such dramatic changes?

No alert came. Downloaded this app last night bc of severe weather rolling in. Wanted local alerts. Never got a one! Weather Channel app won't shut up. Very disappointed.

It's ok. Love the app. I had it on my droid it worked great. Now on my iPhone the location doesn't work right. I put in my city removed riverchase and use the current location a lot but it keeps goin to riverchase although it's not listed and doesn't refresh to current location. Please fix

Not good. Can’t depend on this app. 60 percent of the time it changes the prediction and is never true. Can’t ever plan your day with this app cause it will lie to you
