Note: This app relies on GPS for its navigation functions. For best experience, it is recommended to use the app on iPhone and iPad cellular+WiFi models. It is not recommended to use the app on iPad WiFi-only models due to lack of built-in GPS support in these models.

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

Great tool if you like to walk and explore cities. We used GPSmycity on a European vacation recently and it was great! It gave use walking tours overlaid with maps and pointed out interesting things along the way. It is super easy and it’s directional map makes finding your way super easy. I think the best is to download the maps of interest in your WiFi at home or in the hotel and you have everyday your fingertips - even in spotty reception. I am really looking forward to watching this App grow and add more cities and places!

Crazy directions. I’m on Elm St headed to the attraction which is 2 blocks straight away on Elm St. Directions have been telling me for last .5 mi to “turn left at crosswalk” immediately followed by instruction to “walk south on Elm.” First off, there are no crosswalks at several points where I’m told to turn (and why am I turning when attraction is straight ahead) and instead of “walk south” it would be more helpful to tell me to turn right or left, since I’m not Magellan and really don’t want to take the time to assess the sun’s position and determine which way is south. This is not the first city the app has sent me one way only to immediately direct me back to my original route. I’m inputting attractions this app suggests into my Apple Maps and following the much clearer directions.

First time. I wish I had this app early. It is great for visiting new place and I rely on this for my entire travel week, with google map. The place I visited, does not provide any visitor information. I was desperate to look for guide, this app solved the problem. As software developer, it is easy to use, and good navigation, the feature to design your own tour is great. The only thing is to update the latest location place, to be fair that applies all apps. It is beneficial if this app to be integrated to a live gps map, it should not be difficult. Thank you for such good app that very useful tool. 👍👍👍

Sightsee Like a Broadway Star. We first used the GPSmyCity app on our first (in 20years) trip to NYC! We wanted to see as much as possible in our 3 day trip! The app mapped out walking tours for us which kept us moving! The details of the sights made it easy to decide which stops we wanted to see and which ones we were willing to pass over. We plan to use the app again when we visit in next month, not to mention on other trips around our home and beyond!

GPS Mc city. I used this app recently in the Alsace region of France and Paris and London. It is a great app. They have sightseeing routes already in the app, plus you were able to make your own sightseeing route! They have a majority of all the sites you may want to see in a particular area, and information regarding each one of these places. The information on each of the sightseeing locations as well written and highly informative. It is definitely worth the money. I was pleasantly surprised with white the app had to offer!

Great idea. Didn’t work well for me. As an airline crew member this is exactly the type of app I’ve been looking for. But it did not meet my expectations. The robotic AI voice is very annoying. It sounds like the very first generation of ai voice. Second while using the app it drained my battery very fast. I was unable to find a way to keep the route I was on active unless I kept the app open. I lost almost all battery in 40 minutes As soon as my screen timed out or if I wanted to turn it off to save battery the tour I was on went away and I had to reopen the city choices then reselect that tour. Very annoying. I hope it improves and then I will try it again.

Great App for visiting and exploring cities. My husband and I used this app in Scandinavia recently. We walked the suggested city walk in Helsinki and it led us to all types of wonderful sites. The map shows our position and the direction to the next site. In Taillin, Estonia, it helped us tract down a very old pharmacy. I always knew where I was and how to get back to the port where our ship was docked. The only problem might be if there are tall buildings the GPS, can get confused and you just have to keep walking till it picks up your location…it never took too long to do that. I would definitely recommend this app, it has so much information on it. Barbara

Great app for traveling. I have been a user of this app for years and have used it around the world. Prior to buying the subscription I purchased individual maps. Much less than paying a tour guide and you can use it at your own pace. My wife and I love walking around new international cities and learning about places to see and visit. The maps are detailed and will track you around the city. You can also create your own custom walks. GPSmyCity is the first app we open in a new city for an orientation walk.

Europe trip. We were in Europe for 11 weeks and did all of the planning ourselves. We used the GPS my city app nearly every day I like that I can create a custom walk and then follow the map to each location. The information. And tips on each site is interesting and helpful. I even had a Bern, Switzerland native thank me for helping him see a unesco site he knew nothing about before I asked about it. We were able to use the app in Switzerland, Italy, Greece and 6 Greek Islands, France, Spain and Portugal. Sylvia

Athens, Santorini and Tel Aviv. GPSmyCity is worth the upgrade. This is the best app so far for the adventurous, self-guided traveler. I am just discovering the apps full potential. We used the app for the first time on a two week vacation in Israel and Greece (Tel Aviv, Athens and Santorini). The city orientation walks and city walks were particularly useful. The walking apps work offline, unlike Google and Apple, and bring you through many local areas so you can start a tour from where you actually are. The text to audio narration made it possible to actually enjoy the attractions rather than having your nose buried on/in your phone. We visited The Bouzouki Shop in Athens and chatted with the owners. They were pleasantly surprised that they were included in the city orientation tour. A great vacation and experience.

Not for a single trip. I downloaded this app for a one city trip I plan to take in a few weeks. I have no further trips planned. After downloading it I discovered it’s a 3 day free trial, after which an annual fee applies. Nowhere had I seen that information before getting the app. I deleted It because paying for a year’s use for a single trip isn’t worth it. And I didn’t appreciate the surprise of not seeing the cost until after downloading it. I’d probably have paid a one month use fee if it was a option and if they disclosed up front what the cost is.

Endless cycle of frustration. The App is fine in the rare instances that it works. Purchased for a trip to Greece in March. Would not let me download maps insisting I had to purchase the app. The Restore function didn’t work. Developer got it working and I was able to use it in Greece. Currently used in May in Portugal and the Czech Republic. Now can’t get out of the endless cycle of being told to Purchase in order to download cities in Austria. The app is probably fine if you have an unlimited phone and data plan and lots of free time while traveling. For me the effort just isn’t worth it anymore. Picked up a Rick Steves book for the area and it works every time I open it. This app has potential but the fact that it has a “Restore” option built in tells me this is a perpetual problem with this app. I would recommend passing on this one and trying one of the other apps or just get a book.

Best Travel App Available!. My husband and I have been traveling for over a year and have been to 36 different countries. GPSmyCity has been our personal tour guide during a lot of our trip. It has been fantastic to tour different cities at our own pace and without the cost of hiring a tour guide. With the built-in walking maps with audio that can be downloaded and used without WiFi, it's easy to get around any city. I also love the different articles to find out about things to do before we arrive to a new destination. Can't imagine traveling without this app and have recommended it to many of my friends and people we meet along our travels.

Great for travelers. This app is great for those going to multiple cities for travel. Already using it to plan my next trip to Dubai. The price is cheaper than paying for a walking tour, especially if you are in a group. You get info on the locations and directions which makes it easy to use. If you’re on a budget and want to learn the history without spending hours planning, this is a great app!

Great app for learning a new city. I’ve used GPSmyCity on three trips now: Sydney, México City and London. It’s been great! The variety of walks covers any number of things a tourist might want to see. The write ups for each destination along the walk are informative. Some of the walks have audio which is a feature I appreciated so I could look around while listening to the description. (There also can be a little hiccup with the audio where it may play twice or simultaneously, and they’re working on it.) On occasion the map directions indicated a sight was in the wrong side of the street, but they always include a photo so it can be located easily. One feature I especially liked was the ability to create my own walk, which the app then organized by site proximity and walked me through, step by step. It was great! Highly recommend this for your next adventure.

Superb travel guide. I visited Kraków Poland for the first time with my daughter. We thought it would be ideal to have a self-guide in an app to use so we could go on our own schedule to visit sites, and not be limited by the schedule of a regular local guide. I found the GPSmyCity city app and set up a tour in several parts of the city. It worked wonderfully and we had a great day. It really allowed us to go to the sites, learn about them from the description in the app, but also stop in any little shop we found along the way. It has made me think that it is much easier to get to know a city. I am going to use it for my own city of Boston. I highly recommend it even if someone is going to work with a local guide. And I thought the cost to purchase all the data for a city was very reasonable for just 4.99. I did not have any ads to worry about and the app just worked great.

Indispensable!. During my trip to Copenhagen, I used the paid version of GPS my city for getting around. It was easy to find attractions and to also save other places I wanted to visit. Probably the best feature, since it was made mainly for walking, is that there is a cone showing what direction you’re going. That way it was easy to tell if I started out the right way. The suggested walking tours were OK. Overall, it made my life easier and my trip pleasant!

GPSmyCity App. GPSmyCity App is very helpful for folks who like to take self-guided walks. We recently used it in the UK and found the app to offer multiple walks that would meet anyone’s interests. There are city introduction walks, special interest walks (like Beatles or Harry Potter walks) Historic City Walks etc…The app provides maps with push pins to denote significant sites. It will even “Find me” on the map and track you as you walk if you are interested. I was. Best of all, the app provides written information on each of the sites listing historical and pertinent information just as if you had printed out a walking tour on your computer with multiple sheets to carry. All walking tours can be downloaded so you do not have to have an active internet connection. Perfect! We plan to use it again shortly on our tour of other European countries.

Great idea, terrible app. First I’ll specify this review is for the paid upgrade for the city tour. I thought this would be fun while we’re in Palm Springs during covid to see some fun houses. The app had the idea right, there was fun houses to see but using the app was a nightmare. First, it uses it own navigation in the app, not app or Google and it’s awful to say the least. There is no option to take the location and open it in another mapping app. Then I tried to copy and paste the address from the app to bring it to Google, well you can’t highlight any text to copy an address so after my $4.99 I was held hostage by their terrible robot map. My kids were yelling at me in the back seat to turn her voice off but I couldn’t because the map didn’t show up in CarPlay so I had to continually look down at my phone to make sure I was on the right path. I’m not angry enough to ask for my money back but I’m angry enough to spend 10 minutes writing a review in hopes that others don’t make the same mistake.

Ideal for independent travelers!. This is the perfect app for independent travelers. We have stumbled all over Europe trying to piece together routes to what we wanted to see, & so often ended up exhausted & having missed something we walked a block away from. No more! GPSMyCity is unobtrusive, informative, & a real pleasure to use. We are leaving in a few minutes for a ‘custom walk’ we created in the App last night, to see more of the marvelous city of Prague. The app now knows our hotel location, everything we’d like to see, & has made us a route to follow. It’s the best!!

Adore this app!. I downloaded this app a few days ago, and started using it to plan a multi- city trip to Europe. Wow! I love this app - it makes planning super easy. I’ve been traveling far and wide, both professionally and personally, for years. I’ve planned complex trips, and know how overwhelming it can get. So many places to see in so little time, and so sometimes tough to determine which sights to see, and the best route to take when sights to visit are scattered all over a city. Well, this app makes all of this easy, and fun! Great descriptions and photos of all sights, which ones are “must see sights”, ability to add your own sights (like your hotel). The app determines the best route and how long it will take you. There are tons of wonderful canned walks based on categories like “city overview,” “ museums,” “architecture,” etc. and the ability to create customized walks. If you love to travel, this tool will become an addiction. I tried the free version and then decided to upgrade to the full version because the route creation aspect is fantastic.

Chinatown. It is a bit difficult for me the be objective, as I am a local who is very familiar with San Francisco Chinatown. That being said, I think this is a very good tour for a first-timer, and I especially liked the articles that accompany each stop. Even I learned a thing or two! As for the app, it seems easy to navigate, so there was no problem there. The only criticism I have is with the navigation prompts. Hearing “turn left in 40 meters” repeat four times with each stop is unnecessary and rather unnerving. Would it be possible to change the prompts to just two times? Thank you for listening and keep up the good work! Sharon

Great way to explore without using data. I used this app for exploring Lisbon, Dublin, Florence, Porto, and Seville. Having maps available without using data was wonderful! I had my phone on airplane mode and did not have a European SIM card. So, this app was terrific! I could click on any attraction, and it would guide me from my current location. I also used it to read about places and makes plans for what we wanted to see (based on proximity to other attractions and articles/descriptions provided in the app).

A standing ovation for GPSmyCity. We were excited about our upcoming trip to Ireland, Scotland, France, and Portugal and for the first time in our travels we decided against renting a car and to see and explore the sights on foot. In doing the research to see if we could find an app to help us in exploring Dublin, Cork, Edinburgh, Inverness, Glasgow, Bordeaux, and Porto, we won the lotto when we found GPSmyCity! It was wonderful for not only providing walking routes with gps but the sites with text was like having our own tour guide. We also greatly enjoyed and appreciated being able to create our own custom walks. We had the best trip ever and for this we would like to give everyone at GPSmyCity a standing ovation for creating such a wonderful app!

My absolute best sightseeing app - you owe t to yourself to give it a try!. Dear Tobin, I have used GPSmyCity all over the world - it is the best app to use if you like charting your own way through destinations. Walk categories are arranged to appeal to those with varied interests and you can also set up custom routes. This is my must have app for my travel! I have used this app in over a dozen different travel destinations from Kuala Lumpur to Lucca to Copenhagen. I no longer travel without first looking to see if there is a city maps and walks edition for the city I am traveling to. The app provides so much flexibility to set your itinerary, allowing you to select only those things that you wish to see. The maps are accurate and the app will establish the most efficient walking route based on the points of interest selected. Try it once, you will love it.

Worthless. I purchased option 3 of the subscription choices in order to access the “walk” feature, but it was useless. The map didn’t show all the places mentioned in the article, as it said it would, only the one place I clicked on from the article. I was unable to set a starting place, save a place or add destinations. The app also said that I could tap a green pin for more information, but when I did this, nothing. No information about the place, or even the name. The map showed only one pin at a time when I linked a place from the article. If I returned to the article and clicked on another place, I could see that pin, but again, only that pin. Worthless.

Best app for travel to get around. I saw this app on the App Store cited to give it a try. I just got back from Italy and used it in bologna, Revenio, Assisi, and Rome. The description of what you are seeing fabulous. there, a concise, and to the point we’re u there, a concise, and to the point. The navigation directions walking and buy a car on Spot on. I discovered areas and buildings and much more I had never seen before in Rome and had been there many times before. I highly recommend this app to anyone that travels.

Not worth it.. Great idea with a less-than-stellar execution. Use the free version to get an idea of waypoints to plan exploration in a new place, but probably skip the subscription. I have attempted to subscribe to this app twice. In the most recent attempt, it seemed as though my subscription wasn’t even recognized within the app - I still received in-app ads and could not access navigation. Maybe not a total loss there since navigation within the app is garbage anyway. It’s a pain and quite a few extra steps, but using Google Maps to navigate to the landmarks is way more user-friendly, reliable, and full-featured than trying to rely on the in-app option. The information contained within the guides is also minimal at best. Overall just really “meh” and leaves you wondering what exactly you’re getting for $18.

Cheaper than a guided tour. Okay, I see some negative reviews about the map and the clunky app, but I have to say for the price, and yes, including the new yearly subscription, it’s still very worth it. I have used 6 of the paid tours and a few free ones with GPSmyCity. I started with the free, but when I paid for the upgrades (less than $5 at the time), I was pleased. Because I travel at least once or twice a year, I’m willing to pay the subscription mainly to support the team. I just recently came back from Florence where my wife and I spent over $200 for a private guided walking tour that included a fantastic lunch. No complaints, the guide was great and we learned a lot, but it was only 4 hours long and we were at his mercy. For less than $20 using this app, we would’ve been able to map out the tour we wanted, read in advance, and take our time. Yes, you can use Google and Pocket Earth and other free tools, but come on - for $20 you can get a well organized and fun tour with a pretty decent offline map. Spending hundreds in flight and hotels, I don’t $20 for something that would cost 3 times or more for a true guided tour. Oh, and the support team has been awesome for times when I did have problems with the app. I’ve been using them for years and will continue to do so. Don’t let the few negative ads steer you away - give it a shot...

So practical!. I love how practical this app is, and how I get to access so many ways to see a city. Typical guide books are bulky or online sites can get so complicated. This is easy and has such unique experiences from people who have been. The maps are so useful, too! At first I thought it wasn’t worth paying for the app, but it has turned out to be a valuable resource and given me ideas and options in one place, rather than searching all over. It’s especially worth it when I think about how expensive walking tours can be. Highly recommended!

Excellent product, highly recommend. We downloaded the product the night before pulling into Valencia. The subscription fee is very reasonable for a year of service, as we compared the $18 subscription fee to guided tours for which we would pay otherwise. The map and location function worked perfectly, you download city maps to your phone before, so no need for internet connection while touring, the GPS function works well. Great descriptions of all the highlights, and easy programming to create your own city tour. We highly recommend this app.

Walk with Confidence. I’m a “woman of a certain age” and love to travel solo or break away from the pack if I’m traveling with a group. This app allowed me to research travel articles, select sites I was most interested in, download maps ahead of time (anticipating the trip is the start of the trip for me), and then navigate with confidence. I particularly liked seeing where I was in relation to the route, as I often veered off-route when I saw something interesting. The descriptions of the sites added to my appreciation of them. This app will be part of all my future travels.

Great content sometimes buggy interface. The detail and work that has gone into developing the content sourced globally really made our trip in Japan all the more rich. Discovering the country’s highlights on foot is one of our preferred pastimes so this app was a great fit. The interface would benefit from a refresh to a bit of the « buggy » feeling that you are flipping pages in a guidebook rather than an app. But if you come to it with the focus on content and the preservation of your data by being able to download everything in advance it’s a pretty useful travel tool.

Terrific Guide at your Fingertips. I used the app on a recent trip to Italy for self-guided walks in Milan, Como and Rome. Much of the rest of my trip had live guides. The explanation of the sights to see on the app was as good as the live tour. It's a plus to be able to review the importance of the sights in advance and to see the route you will be following. Besides the map and the explanation of the sights there are a variety of travel articles that provide great additional background. Those articles were very helpful for our visit to Cinque Terre. We plan to go to Japan next year and I look forward to using the app again

Great App for overseas cities. This is a great app for traveling, especially to overseas cities. Before you leave the US, you should put in your hotels, metro stops, etc. Then you are able to use this offline and it gives you great directions. At time when I was in the planning stages, I had issues with syncing and downloading, but I must say that the customer services was right on target. Combined with Google Maps, you will be able to travel with confidence. Thank you GPS My City.

GPSed my cities!. I have been using GPS My City for several years during my travels. I always check there once I've picked my destinations. We have saved a lot of money designing own city tours. Definitely geared to our needs! If I had only one travel app, this would be it! I'm very happy to have seen continued improvement over the years. A big upgrade was being able to fully download for international travel In the days of little or $$$ fees. The apps are now awesome! Full versions definitely rock! Way to go!!

Great functional and helpful app. Very useful app that always worked! Downloaded and discarded several others for lack of functionality—-not this one. Used it as a starting point for seeing sights, and also just as information to look up something we stumbled across. Yes, all of this you can do with Google, but for basic sightseeing of all the most important sites, this app can’t be beat for convenience, accuracy and quick access to info. Plus you can’t always access WiF, this you already have. Especially great if you end up somewhere with a bit of time, want to use it to see something, but don’t want to waste a lot of time to have to plan a route. Perfect for business travel in that sense, or long layovers. We found info about tickets and etc to be correct, too. Added bonus!

Pretty great. I spent hours trying to map out a plan for a certain city and wished that there was some sort of app that would let you select the sites you wished to see and then would organize it into the most logical order along with a map and directions for walking. Ask and ye shall receive. Someone pointed me to this app and it’s exactly what I needed. I love the custom walks and the flexibility within them to add in personal locations as starting points such as a hotel or train station and the also the ability to reorder the locations of the automated order could be improved. A++

Very useful tool. While it can be fun reading lots of reviews of sites and putting together a list of things to see when visiting a city, this App takes most of the legwork out of it. I recently visited Lisbon and found this to be an incredibly useful tool. You can use one of the existing suggested tours or build your own. In my case I started with one which included the most important sights, and added my hotel and other things I wanted to see to create a personalized tour from the hotel doorstep. As well as maps and integrated GPS each site has a brief description and photographs. This is a very useful tool for those who want to see the important stuff, all laid out on a map with GPS, but who don’t have a lot of time to delve through guidebooks and Google to put it together from scratch!

The Only App I Need. Can't say enough about this app. It seems like the availability of resource is endless. Having relevant articles about the destinations and curated walks takes the effort out of planning. Loved the "stamp" feature - it made it fun. My only suggestion, would be to have a little bit more flexibility with the route map and guidance… With the ability to expand the map a little bit more. other than that, I don't plan to download any other resource in the future. This is the one to have.

Really Wonderful App. We are constant travelers and have used this app in so many cities around the world. It is more than worth the cost with great navigation, really insightful suggestions, and up to date information. Those whole claim that Google Maps is its equal are wrong. This is not just a navigation app; it is meant to give details about culture, history, architecture, bars, restaurants, and every other aspect of visiting a city. It is our “go to app” when we first arrive in a new city. The walks are complete and informative. You get way more than you pay for with this fabulous app. Don’t hesitate.

Best App Available. My wife and I recently went on a trip to Paris and Rome. This app was the perfect tool we needed to navigate around the city in a timely manner. I was amazed at how easily you can navigate through the app, and the benefit provided for us was we were able to see more of each city than we ever would have been able to without it. I highly suggest using this app when visiting Europe or honestly any city that is available on the app.

Hardly works at all. The navigation turns on and off randomly. Some of the information is outdated. The phone keeps turning off while using the app and needs to be turned on again, causing me to lose my place on the tour. Some of the tours just show you some pictures and don’t tell you anything about the site. Sometimes the dot and fan that indicate where I am starts spinning around. The fan is too sensitive to body movement while walking and causes the navigation to change instructions over and over again. I wasted a morning of my vacation getting frustrated and not learning much. Also wasted my money on the app. The app is a great idea. It just doesn’t work very well.

Really useful!. We relied extensively on GPSmyCity in Lisbon and Porto, using City Introduction and Historic Center walks in both. We also read What to See in Ponta Delgada. The app really improved our travel experiences dramatically by guiding us around the cities and bringing us to places we surely would have missed. The sight descriptions were very informative and provided just the right amount of info in a very accessible way while walking. We found the app easy to use and very intuitive.

Good idea. Bad UX/UI. I tried using this app while walking around a university campus they have a map of. The premise is great. But walking around using this app on the fly wasn’t intuitive. I had to go back-and-forth between list view, remember the location number, go to the map and try to find corresponding number. Also, the thumbnail images in list view are tiny, so it’s difficult to determine which location is visually interesting to walk to. I don’t think it’s a bad app. I just don’t think it’s worth an annual subscription, until they improve UX/UI.

Would Pay More $$ for More Options. While the app is cheaper than hiring a walking guide in each city, there should be more functionality to it. I downloaded it for one city and was only able to take one neighborhood walking tour. There were other neighborhoods available but only for sightseeing walks, which weren’t worth it. It felt a little lazy just to include pictures of famous landmarks and attractions without historical context. If I just wanted to look at pretty buildings I could Google that or look at Instagram. Seeing as though I was only able to do one neighborhood discovery walk, the app was not worth it to me, luckily I used the 3 day free trial. I would not be opposed to paying more for more tours within each city/having each sightseeing walk be a discovery walk. I did like the flexibility of having the tour read to me , but having an actual human read it versus an autonomous voice would be better as well as having easier access to the voice option.

Good intro to cities. This app is great for learning my way around cities and just exploring by foot, which I always prefer to organized tours, buses, etc. The few extra dollars to unlock the real-time maps and tours is well worth it too. The map function is very reliable; I use it over even google maps for figuring out directions. This is also good for getting an preview of cities I might want to visit and explore, to see how close the sights are to each other, where might be some convenient locations to get a hotel in, etc. I’m glad I found this app, highly recommend! I do wish the app wouldn’t reload itself after a little idle time tho, makes me have to re-navigate back into my tour every time. But that’s the only thing I would change.

Wonderful idea. Solid info. Buggy execution.. Let me stare up top I paid for the pro version. This app is overall a wonderful idea. The tours and walking maps are too notch. The information and depth of guides available is amazing. It has SO much potential and is a great value. That being said, a lot of the design choices are just not intuitive, user friendly, and in some cases are downright buggy. Example? There is no way to turn off audio when starting a route to a location. Each time you need to do if manually. Also, when downloading the map, you get a notice that the map is in your downloads… but you can’t exit out of that notice until you close and reopen the app. There are dozens of minor annoyances like that that would take too long to list. At the end of the day though, I have used this for about 6 cities, and have appreciated the content But I hope they do a redesign to make it less glitchy and more intuitive. This app has potential to become really big if they do.

Great for planning out trips. Was able to use this app on a couple of recent trips and thoroughly enjoyed having it with me. Was able to download tours ahead of time, research destinations with in-depth travel articles, and learn more about the places I was visiting. While it doesn’t have step by step directions to destinations, it’s still easy enough to navigate to the next point of interest. Whether you like to make a meticulous plan or just sort of wander, this definitely can be of use.

A must-have app for travelers!. I am a frequent traveler and travel blogger and can't praise the GPSmyCity app enough. When I find myself in a new destination, unsure of what to see and do, this app is a life saver! It offers such a wide variety of destinations and highlights unique attractions that you won't find in any guide book. The upgrade feature that allows you to follow along travel articles in real time offline is awesome! It's like having a personal tour guide in the palm of your hand! I definitely recommend!

Really helpful. Easy to navigate. Informative enough for me. Cheaper than a walking tour. I like the app !

Nothing more than ok.. Free guide is just as good (or bad) as the paid one. Not great but some good tips in there.

Pretty useless now. This App used to work but most of the time now it doesn't - it freezes. I'm tired of wasting download time and ace on city guides but then not being able to use them.

Great App. Used the walking maps while On Vietnam and was easy to use and gave great suggestions. Have even planned a walk in my home city based on one of the city walks. Would Highly recommend

Disappointing. this app needs to become an iPad app. Every time I change to it I have to reselect my location in the app. It doesn't seem to know abou multitasking at all. I would not pay for it until it does that. I think there is something deficient with the whole genre of iPad travel apps. I have done all my planning on PC at home. Now that I'm here I want detailed information on the monument or painting in front of me. None of the apps I've found provide that level of detail. Instead there is a one sentence description of a building that is 600 years old filled with art and objects, replete with history. I'm here doing a walking tour, I'd like to know what is in front of me. I'm not in a bus doing a quick whizz past each place to say I've seen it!

Little more than a list of advertisers. Quite disappointing. Maps don't zoom deep Map search doesn't find listed sites Sites in walk aren't in logical order Misses key sites Sorry. Will be deleted

Excellent for navigating around a city. Absolutely essential, especially for Venice where it is easy to get lost. Love the 'find me' facility and the way it shows the direction you are heading. Lots of useful info and ideas. So glad I have used it. Found that we followed suggestions and discovered places we would never have known about. The walk routes were brilliant. And it was fabulous to be able to enter an attraction and say 'show me the route from here to there.' Especially as it all worked offline. Perhaps a search for street names would be helpful. Don't think that is there but the map is excellent so can usually find what I want.

$5.99 not necessary. The walking maps are a helpful guide when traveling in a new city but the $5.99 I paid for the full guide wasnt justified - it really didn't offer me any particularly useful additional benefits that the free guides couldn't offer. To utilize the "additional" features you need to use global roaming anyway and that's what I wanted to avoid!

Great App. Just came back from 6 weeks traveling around Europe, not a fan of group tours but still like to site see so this app was perfect for that. We were able to check out the cities at our own pace and being able to add our own hotel in was a great feature as well.

NO ADS Please. If I pay I don’t want to see ads especially ads relating to unethical products such as gambling. Please don’t allow these on your app. Thank you

Crashes upon opening every time. This app crashes upon opening every time on my iPhone 4 so is completely useless to me, I can't get it past the loading screen at all

Don't get conned. Be careful, I paid $5.99 to download the full offline version of the Santorini map. It is a complete rip off. Don't get caught wasting your money on the upgraded maps.

Fix it or remove it!. Downloaded (three times) and paid good money for two maps and constantly crashes. Can't use it. I am looking at other App options which actually work.

Paris. A great app. It provides an excellent basis to start exploring lots of cities. Head off on a walk, be flexible, and you’ll have a great time.

Perfect for my short SF stay. I had a one night stay over in SF and this was exactly what I needed!

crashes regularly... needed to restart frequently. please fix...

Pointless waste of space! Don’t bother. Three apps that do exactly the same thing (which is nothing at all! ) and you have to download all and pay for the last one so that any of the apps even activate the basic function they are supposed to. How about you just have 1 app!

Good but lacks stability. Downloaded for free then have to pay for a subscription or individual locations. Paid for a map of Venice which worked fine the first time. Shutdown but when I went to start the app again it just kept crashing. When it finally worked it was useful. Absolutely killed my battery though used 80% of an iPhone X battery in less than 4 hours. I normally get about a day and a half from normal use. Not sure I’ll use again

Maps don’t work. Lots of ads and unfortunately the maps don’t work without paid subscription

It’s great. It’s great

Save yourself some cash. On our recent travels we noticed innumerable tour groups walking along side us in our GPS my city tour. Checking the cost of these trips, the app saves you a lot of money. We love this App. Upgrade to get the off line version, so you don’t lose signal

Great idea but crashes. This app is very useful, providing a great opportunity to casually follow a walking tour and take as long as you like to do it and be flexible for stops along the way. BUT extremely annoyingly crashes constantly, having to re-load constantly, even shutting down mid use. This negative borderline outweighs its positives, as it’s very frustrating to be constantly reloading every time you check your route or on getting to the location, find you e hit to re-load it again to read the fantastic info about it!! If that can be fixed, and EASY five stars, without doubt!!

Great app. Works really well with excellent background commentary.

Crashes after 20 seconds. After the latest update the app crashes after showing the loading screen for 20 seconds.

Not very good. Waste of time and space. I’m not going to pay for a map before I know if it’s any good. Also according to reviews, you need data to use. That’s NOT how gps works. Easier just to download google maps offline, and research places to see

Excellent. Just what is needed when going on holiday, perfect

Love, love, love this app!. This is a great travel app. I have used it in cities in France, Italy, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, New Zealand and even my own home city of Sydney, Australia. The provided sightseeing maps and site details are very informative and you can even create your own walks by marking the things you want to see and leaving off those you don’t. The GPS directions are really clear and easy to follow. It is a cost effective way to tour a city at your own pace and you get to choose the places you want to see unlike the limitations of an organised tour. I might also add if you do have any problems with the app the developers are only an email away. They reply promptly, are very friendly and really go out of their way to help you . Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Don't bother with this app. Terrible interface, downloading tours doesn't work. Waste of time.

Fantastic App. This easy to use app makes navigating around cities easy and fun. The information provided gives you plenty of background and the city tours seem to take in all the main attractions. The apps ability to navigate offline is a real bonus. Looking forward to getting back out there and using it again. Cheers. Annette.

Will not load. Have tried installing 3 times both on iPhone and through iTunes and still cannot get it to load. I'm glad this was free to try otherwise a waste.

Tours only available through purchase. Description was misleading, the app requires purchase in order to access tours

Great app - fantastic support. Have used this app on multiple trips - and is great. Even better still is the support, any problems and they help you straight way - always friendly.

Saved the day for last minute site seeing. My husband and I just came back from 7 weeks traveling in Europe. As lots of the trip was business related and it was all booked last minute, we had planned free time in some cities but had not planned what to do in those, and didn’t know what there was to see in a lot of them. I found GPSmyCity while googling “must sees n Milan” and it saved the day. I didn’t have to print out a list or google the location of things. It came with all of that and suggested walking tracks. Sometimes we followed the trail exactly and sometimes, limited by time, we just used a portion. I loved being able to click into the map for a walking trail and have the GPS show me which way I was facing so that we would walk in the right direction. It had all the cities we were visiting and they weren’t always the largest city. Actually there were two smaller towns that it didn’t have a walking trail for, but there was a good travel article on each place which gave us an idea what to do. One of these was my favorite place on the entire trip, and it was the suggestion on the article that made it awesome (Tromsø in Northern Norway).

Trouble with it. I bought a subsciption which doesnt work and written twice to the developers. I like the trial version but havent got full access with the subscription and missed out using it properly on my trip

Not as good as original CityWalks. I have used citywalks in about 20 cities over last 8 years and found the brief descriptions and the directions simple and easy to follow. Unfortunately iPhone upgrades were not compatible. Now the replacement GPSmycity is clumsy and far too wordy. Please just give us the facts without the personal travelogue. Let us decide what we want to see in the different categories. Not what your blogger liked

Save money and tour at your own pace.... Great app with fantastic support. As a long term user I have used it in numerous cities and avoided costly tours that don’t let you do what you want to do. Offline data also reduces the burden. Just contacting the developer has always resolved any issues.

Excellent for a free app! AAAA. I have used this app in at least 10 european cities now, it's great for learning a bit about the places I've been seeing. Like the ability to sort attractions by distance from you too. Recommended!

GPSmyCity. Found this to be a really helpful tool for do it yourself touring. Highly recommended!

So slow. App is a nice idea, and it’s got ok content, but is weirdly slow and awkward to use. Lots of buttons don’t do anything (like the ‘Go There’ buttons) tab bar buttons are really hard to hit on an iPhone X device, search is clunky. For what they’re charging, feels very unpolished.

Great little app!. Love this ! So simple to use, covers interesting sights & info - read about the walk BEFORE doing it - many sights have additional tours possible! Great value!

Excellent self-guided tours and information. We traveled through Spain and this app had comprehensive information and self-guided walking tours for the six cities/towns we visited. Easy to use with great information and insights which enhanced our trip.

An Excellent guide for city travel. Very close to 5 star for me as an easy companion for all the cities I visited in Europe over the past 7 weeks. Terrific sightseeing walks with maps and notes that work off line. Excellent travel information about places to see, things to do. Very useful and heaps better than lugging around a heavy book travel guide. Thank you GPS mycity!

Very helpful. I’ve used this app in several cities - some I visited for the first time, some I knew reasonably well. It showed me things I hadn’t seen before and perhaps would not have discovered on my own. Of course, to make the most of the app, you need to be prepared - choose your destination and download the map and tours while you have internet access. well worth the $26 it cost!

Excellent travel app. We have used this app extensively in Europe, Iran and other countries. It is such a good option to carrying heavy guide books and also offers some different opinions.

My Go To App When Visiting A City. The GPSMyCity app is my go to app when visiting new cities. It is so easy to download articles with excellent tips and places to visit offline and then hit the pavements and walk. I love to be able to explore on my own when I travel. I have paid for the Upgrades which has given me so much more information. Love this app!

Don't waste your money. Use your own map. Info at each location is just a couple of sentences from Wikipedia

Can not register after paying for a subscription. No feedback about why.. Great app when it’s working but unfortunately that doesn’t happen for long

Vanetta walking tour. Fabulous tour… very easy to follow… recommended to other travelers today

Sigh!. Free hu? You think your getting more than you are, until you want to view all the good stuff, then you'll have to pay for it $$$

Useful app. I used this in Vienna, Budapest and London. It helped me plan my itinerary and the GPS aspect meant I got lost less often!

Haunted walk tour. Title is misleading as this is NOT a haunted walk tour. Great idea as my group had physical limitations to the guided tour and this was the perfect solution. Unfortunately none of the information gave adequate references to ghostly encounters as the title would suggest. Great app, great idea but wrong title for the Haunted tour!!!

Fabuleux. Michel & Sylvie

excellent app!. I took self-guided tours for Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sarajevo, Mostar using the GPSmyCity. I especially love the offline functionality, which guided me to all the attractions when I didn’t have data. It’s better than Google map because it even offers informative descriptions and pictures of the attractions, which I found very helpful to identify and learn about the places. I highly recommend this app!

Useless. Bought the upgrade for Haifa. The app simply would not link or track. Waste of money. Malcolm, Toronto

GPS my city. Excellent app…used for Europe, very much like Apple Maps. Best of all works offline! Not data or internet needed. You can customize your walking tours. Work getting. Recommend.

Good program thanks for all the stuff. Happy for the program is great

Street names not English. I just tried this app in Tel Aviv and found it impossible to follow the directions to the sites because the map in this app only gives the street names in Hebrew. Should have English option.

Not working after updating. After updating to ver 4.5.9 the app stopped working. I sent a email to cust service within a couple of hours i received an answer that informed me that they where aware of the situation and a way to bypass the problem, and info on the next upgrade availability.Thank you Jim,great service. I have used this app since 2013 ,and it great to plan a trip and to use at destination and it does not need any cell signal to work only need gps to be on.

Great Travel toll. I excellent tool to learn much about the city you are visiting. Great right ups on landmarks. Really enjoyed the themed walks such as food tours in some city’s.

Helpful to Plan your trip. I’ve been using this app to plan sites to see in various cities and find it very useful. The descriptions are accurate and gives a good overview of the places.

Consistently crashes. Usable.

A must-have app for the prudent Nomad.. Overall I found this app to be very helpful and very accurate. It consumed minimal data while providing much needed directions and site information. I used it extensively in Japan and South Korea. I would likely have missed out on loads of sightseeing site visits had I not had this app. A definite must-have app for the prudent Nomad.

Needs attention. This app has good details on the walking tours which is available in free version. I upgraded only to get gps feature and the gps feature doesn’t worked at all. Their 3 days trial is available, so I have canceled my subscription

Love it!. This app takes the guesswork out of sightseeing since it lists major sites plus gives detail on all the sites. The walking tours are easy to follow and the direction works well in big cities!

Great app. Great customer support. Informative app and very customizable to see what you want to see.

Too frustrating. Great concept but wish it made sense. The map does not autorotate when walking which makes it incredibly confusing and frustrating. I finally deleted the app as it just doesn’t work. You end up walking around in circles. Too bad because I think it is a great idea and reasonably priced.

Ok. Had a lot of issues when trying to use the app in Lima. However deleted and redownloaded and it seems to be working fine now.

Nice to guide your walk around a city. We enjoyed it. We got to visit some locations not mentioned in travel guides. I would like if the stamps appeared on the map as well. Also, it would be nice if the description specify if the location is to visit or just looked at. One location was misplaced for a couple of kilometres away! But thats the first time it happened. Normally it is accurate. Overall there is room for improvements but I think it is worth the money.

Not usable at all after updating. Read error, file error when trying to use after I updated the newest version, Not usable at all. I paid for a whole year.

Cafu. Works only with touristic attraction, but if you get lost and punch in an address won’t find it. More work should be done. Hoped you got the job done before you ask for money.

Great app.. I have used this app at least 3 or 4 times on different trips and have always enjoyed it. I like that I can stop and start it again in different locations. The only thing I have suggested is that it would be nice to have a human voice narrating it. That being said I have made this suggestion and have been told that some cities in the USA have a human voice and they are expanding it to other cities outside the US. I highly recommend this app. Nice to go at your own pace and not have to pay for a tour.

First Walking Tour. Our first attempt at using this app started a bit rocky until we started using the in app photos. The tour of Coimbra’s historical buildings was just as advertised. Unfortunately it wasn’t a loop so return to our car was a bit of a hike. However, the walk through the city took us to some amazing neighbourhoods we would not have ventured to otherwise. Well worth it!

Great App!. Perfect for wandering around a new city…. Add your hotel location and you never get lost.

A travellers most wanted companion. Excellent app that covers many cities around the world. It has all the attractions listed and marked as must see or optional. It allows you to set your starting point and provides distance guide. It allows you to set a route plan which places you want to see, and set them in a custom walk. It opens up a map and gives you the guidance and walking instructions as you get to the destination. Absolutely wonderful.

Excellent app. I used this app in two Hawaii Islands and it changed our trip to the best experience.

Doesn’t work. I downloaded it and it doesn’t work. I just get a pop up with a loading page saying “please wait refreshing your subs” that never goes away and I can’t access anything on the app

Offline. I tended to use this to determine my location and a landmark that I wanted to get to. I pre downloaded the city I would be and I could navigate the city and find landmarks all offline. The only small issue was that the app would at times route me to the back of a building as opposed to the main entrance. Great App.

Essential travel companion. We find this app takes the guesswork out of visiting a new location. By combining local’s travel tips with mapping features, articles and great visuals.

Very useful and good value. On a recent three week trip throughout Spain our group of four found the GPSmyCity app surprisingly useful. We used a combination of the provided self-guided walks and created a few custom ones. The app made it easy to identify, then navigate to areas/points of interest. At which point, we would read out the background text provided by the app. We appreciated the ability to easily skip any sights of low interest and be given guidance directly to ones that were high on our list. I felt we received good value and intend to use it on future trips.

Great guide of Rhodes. I used the app in Rhodes. It was very informative and easy to use. Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of site information screens for the direction features. I have a old iPhone 6 with no data and it worked fine except the text to speech feature skipped words. Great value.

Excellent travel companion. I downloaded this app just before going on a trip that included three cities in the South of the USA. Even without much time to familiarize with all the features offered, I could enjoy several aspects: proposed sightseeing walks, tracking my footsteps without wifi connectivity, relevant travel blog articles, pinning my own choice of sights on a city map. It represents an excellent guide for many cities in the world and I am eager to use it on all next opportunities.

So so. Not overly impressed. I would like to blend two walks, can’t. When I get to a location, why does it not load the next. I seem to have to go back and pick the next one.

Pathetic customer service. App hasn’t worked since I purchased the full version. Customer service was useless, telling me all the actions I had already taken to resolve issues. (Restart iPhone, delete and reinstall the app, etc.) Their solution then was to tell me it wasn’t their problem, it had to be the App Store. How frustrating!!!

Thank you!. We are now in week 4 of a 7 week trip and have used GPS My City at every stop where city walks we’re available. The app has been an invaluable tool in planning our trip before departure and while on the road. Descriptions of sights are accurate and offer plenty of details to understand what you are looking at. I plan on using this app for future trips and highly recommend the purchase of the app to take full advantage of all the features. Happy travels!

Great escape within the city for such a cool experience. First time using GPSmyCity - what a great find!! Easy to use and takes us on our Miami adventure.

An amazing guide to your favourite cities!!. I have used this guide app to take my wife and I on historic walking trips all over the world! From Lyon to Venice to Shanghai - I absolutely love the detailed descriptions of the different historical sites you can check out along the way and my wife loves the shopping trips - it really is a welcome companion on our trips!

Useful and fantastic app. I have been using GPSmyCity for years now in different cities and it is very useful when it’s your first time in a city or when you want to have a predetermined walk that won’t take you all day. Sites you visit are well described , gps function is cool, and it’s easy to use . I recommend that app.

Horrible app with awful synthesized speech.. I tried this app in Tallinn. Very inaccurate GPS and annoying synthesized speech. Don’t waste your money or time on this app.

Great app. Used this app in over 5 Mediterranean cities and found it invaluable for the site descriptions and walking tours to see the “must see” sites.

Great travel app. I love this app. I have been looking for an app that can help me plan my trips for a long tim… I finally found it ish… It is already a good app and has the potential to be the fantastic. What is great: lots of downloadable articles and recommended walks. Also pre-selected sites and activities to visit. You Can build your own walk and it is a fairly easy app to use and less cluttered than google map. What I would improve: google map as a lot more informations, this app not enough. Somewhere in between would be perfect. Even better, having this app as a google map extension would be so good! To the gpsmycity team. Great job keep going.

Great app with potential. We used the app for the first time on our European trip Oct 2023 (6 cities). App was very useful based on the tour suggestions and attractions summaries. Another benefit was no data usage while using downloaded maps. Computer voice summaries would be easier to listen to with human voice. Data transfer between cell phones wasn’t as smooth as expected but that could be user inexperience. Overall great app that we will continue to use!

Must Download for any Traveller. This app makes it so much easier to see the things you want to see efficiently . When you are travelling you are usually on a time schedule and this truly allows you to maximize your trip by organizing the places you want to see. Easy to use and great customer support!

Suspect security on this app. My credit card was compromised around an hour after I provided my card number on this app. Can’t say for sure but I’m not confident about security here. Also, while this is free, the ads make it almost unusable. I have no idea why I had to wait through a 4 second ad for Chrome when I already have it installed on my phone. Every few click I got another ad. While the utility of the app looks good. My experience wasn’t positive.

GPSmyCity: Walk in Cities. Excellent app to support your city walks! Makes it easy to design your own walking tour! Love it!

Easy & Fun. Great app for bite-sized pieces of interesting info about new places

Great app for self guided tours. We’ve used this app twice on our travels and are now subscribing. Very handy for self guided tours!

Fantastic App. I had no idea such an app with the incredible ability to create Self Guide walking tours of major cities

Looks very good but…. Text article content is very good but there is a problem with the display of the articles - contrast. The text is presented in light gray on a white background providing low contrast making it difficult to read.

Excellent wayfinding. I used this app while visiting Madrid and Barcelona for the first time, and it worked marvellously. I did not turn on my cell service the entire time I was in Spain, and GPS my city functioned the whole time and kept me from getting lost. The routing functions are excellent, and the cone that shows you which way you are facing is brilliant.

Well written guides. I used the app in Dubrovnik, Zadar, Trieste and Venice. It was easy to use, took me to some great sites I might otherwise have missed, and the site descriptions are well written, with a nice amount of detail. I will be using it again in the new year!

I’m not feeling this site. I googled “walking tours” for historical downtown Honolulu and saw this app. I thought it would be something I would like. After downloading the site and hitting where in Honolulu I wanted to go I was transferred to another site to put my CC in. I thought I accidentally hit something so I tried again. I was take to a DIFFERENT website to put my CC in. O tried a 3rd time and was again, taken to a completely different site. I deleted the app. The whole thing felt too much like a scam. If anyone els has used this and gotten the same results it would be interesting to know, but I for one wasn't comfortable putting my CC in.

Great travel articles to give context and history. I really enjoyed using the app to visit places in my home city (San Francisco) and learn more about their history without hiring a tour guide. I do wish however that there were more features, such as the ability to see all articles by an author I like, and filters when searching within a city. I hope the team will continue working on this unique app.

Must have travel app. I’ll never travel without this app again! It lets me take city walking tours to the places I choose on MY schedule and at MY pace. Cost is far less than the tours I used to take whenever I traveled. Also guides me to restaurants, shopping, etc effortlessly. And when I had a question, the customer service was helpful and far faster than any I’ve ever experienced. I Love This app

Amsterdam on foot. I used GPSmyCity to successfully navigate exploring a foreign country. I downloaded the maps and routes I needed for my 10 day trip before my travel. I was able to not only travel on foot as I had planned, but to rearrange my expeditions after I accidentally fell and twisted my knee. From nearby tram stops to major museums and quirky shops, the app never let me down.

Great take along guide. GPSmyCity was helpful in our recent trip to Italy. I was able to customize the walks to fit our interests, then download the map and guide so I was able to have directions and info to and about the sites we were planning to see. It was super helpful especially in a a foreign country!

LOVE it. This is a great app. While it's main use is for walking tours, I have found it great for researching places I want to go. It is much easier for me to find the info I am interested in here as compared to TripAdvisor or surfing the web because tours and blog descriptions can all be found in same place! Highly recommend.

Great Walking Tour App. The step-by-step navigation and guide are a great way to learn about a city you’re new to. I used it to discover Cleveland and found so many gems and bits of information along the way. I’d love for there to be options for in depth information on each site, but for a quick tour, it’s great to know some basics and situate yourself in a new town.

Not as advertised in Lite version. I was stoked to see this app, having just thought we needed something like this for a visit in a new city. The main feature that drew me to it - getting nav directions for a walking tour - is not available in the lite (free) version. I even clicked on the map to go full screen that had all the sites pinned and it took me to the upgrade page. Turns out to just be more a listing of sites to see and there are already plenty of those. Didn’t end up using the app and prob won’t take a second look.

So worth it!. GPsmycity is a revolutionary way to see the world like a local, in a much more affordable way than paying traditional tour guides. As someone who loves to experience a new place like a local and on a budget, it’s been incredible to have access to all these guides that are of premium quality, yet I’m able to explore on my own terms and at my own pace. Very worth the small price.

THIS APP IS GREAT!. I used this app to lead a tour of downtown Detroit. The app was easy to use and helped me to create an easy to follow route and include lots of fun and helpful information. For what you get the cost of the app is well worth it. Anyone who wants to take a self guided tour on vacation or lead friends through a tour of your own hometown like I did should have this app.

Mediterranean Cruise Tours. My wife, daughter and I participated in a Royal Caribbean Mediterranean cruise and we used the GPSmyCity for a number of free time walking tours. I found them as fine, exciting, and informative as any of our guided tours. I highly recommend using the app, the sightseeing maps are excellent, and we never were lost or needing “extra help.”

Celebrity Homes Tour. It was very interesting to explore some of the celebrity homes in the area. I wish we could have seen more of the ‘s grounds and interiors but it was still exciting to see. The app includes a lot of historical information. The experience was very enjoyable. I would highly recommend especially during covid when there are not so many guided tours available.

Very helpful when traveling. I have used this app many times when traveling to different countries. I generally review and download the articles in advance of the trip. Then.....when in the travel location I can click a "go there" link in the article and the GPS kicks in telling me how to get to a particular point of interest.

Washington DC. This app and the free trial period was fantastic! I walked for 10 miles seeing all the sights I wanted to. Love the voice navigation working while listening to pandora. I highly recommend this app for self guiding walks and creating your own self guiding walk. I will use this again and probably buy it on my next trip.

Fabulous offline option for travelers!. I love this App, especially as person who loves to travel to off the beaten path locations. I don’t use a cellular plan when I travel so it’s great having an offline option!! The other great thing is that these are tips and recommendations from other travelers, so they’ve already done all the legwork for you.

Great for travel. This app is a at option for traveling. I recently used it in Mykonos, Greece and the walk I followed in the app led me through all the main parts of the town. It provides detailed explanations of the key points of interest. I do wish they would add audio to the walking tours so you could listen while walking, but maybe this will come in time.

Loved this!. We decided to take a trip into Philadelphia at the last minute. We weren’t sure what we wanted to see and being able to look at the options was so helpful. We mapped several routes before settling on one that worked for us. We ventured off of the route a couple of times but it was super easy to get back to the next stop. I can’t wait to try on our next adventure! The hardest part is deciding where we want to go next!

Great Info Poor Execution. This app does a great job on giving you information about sites around the cities. The app however drains your battery very quickly when you do the map guidance. Also while following a map, it doesn’t seem that you can listen to the information about the site you’re visiting without exiting, finding the site on your list, and hitting play. Once done you have to go back into the map and guide yourself to the next location. Very clunky.

Amazing. Don’t look at the negative reviews . This is hands down the best city exploration app on the market . It is good for a single day stay in a city and for those who want to second a few days . You can read about places , get address information , make your own walks . It makes walking tours extremely efficient . Try it and you won’t regret it .

Doesn't work!. I've downloaded this app for my trip to Europe. I loved the idea of having an app that helped me to create an itinerary like Google trips used to do. This apps description mentions that it works offline which is absolutely not true. It will crash every time I'd use it without wifi nor data. When the app finally decided to start after the 5th time I opened it will just freeze. Complete worthless if you are trying to get information when you are out and about exploring the city you are at. I love the concept but I think this app still needs a lot of improvements ahead.

This app saved my life!. I found myself in Venice (one of the most confusing cities I’ve ever been to) and needed to find my way around on my own. I have no sense of direction and often get lost in my own home town. This app was so handy. I was able to customize my route and see everything on my list without getting lost in the city! I highly recommended this app!!

Nice travel app. I tried this app recently on a trip to Greece/Europe and found it fun and useful. They highlight the most important sites to see in each city, have informative descriptions for the sites and fun features such as checking off sites visited, GPS your walks and have suggested routes to visit priority sites. I’m looking forward to future improvements to include audio descriptions of sites.

Great Vacation Tool. I love this app now that I know how to use it. It took a day or so and watching the tutorials several times to get it, maybe I’m slow. I have planned exciting site seeing from my hotels in 4 different cities in Spain and 4 in Portugal. As a single lady traveling I don’t want to end up in any unsafe areas. I’m excited that it works without an internet connection which I don’t have overseas. It is a great tool and worth every penny.

Very useful walking app. I have found the GPSmyCity app to be very useful when walking a new city. It’s easy to use and has pre designed walks containing many points of interest. You can also build your own walk based on personal preferences. Along the way the app allows you to stamp and collect photos of attractions visited.

Great for trip planning. The GPSmyCity app is a helpful tool to use in the early stages of trip planning. It’s nice to be able to browse walks and travel articles about a city to get ideas of what to see and do and where to eat. I also like that you can download maps of sights that you can reference during your trip.

I use this app everyday when travelling. I have spent the last 57 days in Europe in 9 countries, and this app has made for an amazing trip!! I love how it makes day planning so easy. The best part is that the app creates suggestions, and routes for you. In every place they have a short description, and tips for visiting. I could not recommend this app enough!

Used in Spain. I used the app in Spain in Madrid, Barcelona, and Cordoba and it proved an excellent resource. Either by taking the described walks or merely selecting specific locations in the cities it was helpful. The details of specific “stops” were accurate and up to date. I recommend this app to any new or veteran traveler. It also saves money on local guides.

Eclectic traveler. Most city walking tours apps you are locked into stops and some don’t offer description of the sties. This app has articles and descriptions of sites. After deciding what sites to see you can create a custom map of your personalized walking tour. The app will take the sites you have selected and create a map that is most convenient.

rudimentary. Like many of the reviewers, I wasn’t impressed by this app. I tried it for the first time in October (‘23) in a couple of cities/large towns in Italy (Perugia & Assisi). The map feature worked about as well as using google maps and the descriptions of the sites were about what you might get from wikipedia. Not a real guide type experience. I was surprised, for example, when visiting the cathedral in Perugia, the app didn’t mention/show anything about the adjacent underground ruins from the Etruscan/Roman period. Really cool to see but nothing about it in the app.

Used to work but stuck in “refresh mode” - update. Update — they have sent an update today and the app works excellent. Thank you!!! I’ve been using this app for over a year and love it. However, now is stuck in a “refreshing your subs” screen. The app is locked in this mode and won’t work. I tried deleting the app and re-installing it but it isn’t working. If anyone knows how to fix it is appreciated.

Great Way to See the Sites and Learn a Bit Along the Way. We used GPS My City while traveling in Europe. We saw the sites in Trier, DE and Strasbourg, FR. We learned so much in both cities. The historical information was incredible. We also appreciated that we found neighborhoods we never would’ve stumbled upon on our own. Will definitely being using the app in our upcoming travels!

Extensive and Fun!. App was overall easy to use. I first highly suggest watching the overview video and reading how to use it as it is not intuitive at first. Also, you download a city first then all the tours are there - you do not download specific guides. Overall it is a great app and excited to keep using it.

Out of date info. The paid version has nice functionality for getting from current location to a place on a walking tour. However, we just walked 30 minutes to the Munch Museum in Oslo, only to discover we were routed to the old, now closed, Munch museum. After googling the correct address, we backtracked for 20 minutes to get to the proper location (stuck with Google). I imagine keeping track of these types of things isn’t easy, but the developers are going to have to find a way to do so.

A great App for even for seasoned travelers!. GPSmyCity is such a wonderful App even for the seasoned traveler. It features a description of various sites within its Walking Tours that is also available as voice. If you are someone who likes to do your own walking tour, especially at your own pace, this App is what you need. It is more than worth its subscription.

Disappointed. The app is not helpful or user friendly . I’ve selected a walking tour. Downloaded something, where that is we can’t find it. I click on a tour and can’t get back to list of other tours/walks have to close out of the app and go back in. To get to beginning as the back arrow doesn’t seem to work. Sure we see the map and route but nothing starts or seems work. Just paid $13 for some access. That seems like a waste. I’ll keep trying to figure it out but I want something I can open, select a walk and go this app is not it! Disappointed

Fantastic!. I love to travel and tour but prefer the flexibility to self-navigate locations. This app does that and more. Provides the highest level option to see the best of and even neighborhood options. Love the gps location embedded in so you can start from wherever you are. Even highlights nearby spots to get more from your tour! Highly recommend!

a great app with huge potential. This is my favorite app to use while traveling. The information is top notch – and I find myself using the app even in cities I’ve visited before. The walks are well-planned and the articles offer info beyond the cookie-cutter fare. Agreed with others that some technical improvements can be made to make the app more intuitive and user-friendly, but these are minor –and I imagine they will be worked out over time.

Absolute rubbish app. I had high hopes for this app, but it completely disappointed me. I bought the subscription hoping to use it in London, Scotland and Ireland as it appeared to have a lot “content” for those cities. As I got this just before I left, I didn’t get a chance to fully review it. As I started using the app, it became obvious that the content was mostly for Wikipedia, announced by a robot voice! The gps navigation is a joke also. I was expecting something along the line of gypsy guides that let you walk around and talk when you reach a location. There is nothing more to gain by subscribing. Just use some of the other apps or Wikipedia. What a sham!

Ybor city in the palm of my hands. I used the app to take a FREE personalized tour of YBOR. I was able to stay a as long as I wanted to in some places and leave as early as I wanted to. I was my own guide and didn’t have to worry about dancing to the beat of someone else’s drum. I will definitely use this app to explore in other cities. I didn’t have to guess my route, or exhibits.

App stuck in updating mode / worthless. My Trip to Portugal. Downloaded their apps for Porto and Lisbon. I selected walks and articles and downloaded to my phone. To get the map functionality I had to download another app GPSMyCity (aka The Full Version) and subscribe. I selected full year for maximum features. I did all of this before I left home one day before my flight. So when I arrive to my destination and try to access my downloaded features, all I got was a spinning “Updating” message. WHY!!!!!! aren’t they already downloaded? Not the worst though, updating never seemed to finished so I could not get past and even use the app. Happened in both cities and while i was connected to hotel Wi-Fi. I rarely leave app reviews and I prefer to leave a constructive comment for a poorly functioning app rather than a nasty one. But this app was so promising and delivered nothing when it counted. Owe me a refund and an aspirin.

Just ok. Not much history, descriptions read like ads. Pros: GPS was accurate. Liked the ability to choose your own stops or use a pre-planned route. Cons: The descriptions of historical sites were so brief and read like a mix of bad Wikipedia entries and ads for local businesses. No comparison to an actual tour guide. Very little history or context for the stops. Really disappointing. Stores were included as tour stops so I wondered if they paid to be included. The audio was a text reader, not great.

Excellent app for independents!. This was so great! My daughter and I don’t like dealing with tour guides and prefer to check things out on our own. This app really helped and we even booked hotels that were “on our routes”. I’ve told all of my friends to download it for their travels. Btw. It works best if you set your routes beforehand.

Good app. The app has a good selection of cities and different types of walks. We have used it significantly in Europe. Some suggestions for improvement might be to be able to print the transcript for a l each site if you wanted to save it in some type of travel folder or save it digitally. Also, an audio version for each location would be great.

Google Maps is better- and free!. This App costs $$. And once you purchase it continues to have you make more purchases! Would not recommend. Learn how to use Google Maps and you can do the same things for free! And now that I want to cancel after using it for 3 days I can not find where I can do so - not easily! When I’m home from travels I will make sure I cancel this service. My daughter used google maps along side me using this app and she was able to navigate it faster with accessing more info quicker than I could, since I was prompted to buy more. My recommendation- use & learn google maps!

A must on trips to new cities. I’ve used this on several trips to new cities, and have been pleased with the tours and descriptions. In addition to the guided tours, the maps also show other points of interest so make sure to look around for other highlights.

Love This App. I can’t tell you how much I have used this app. I am planning a very complicated trip right now and this app has been invaluable in helping me make decisions. I find myself going to it every day. I love the articles and how much accurate information I can get. In addition, since I am a walker, I love the map.

Colonial history. My mom and I used the walking tour for Anchorage in Alaska. The history, and language use, needs to be seriously updated. It reads like 1800’s anthropology field notes, meaning it is completely European centered. Alaska was not ‘founded’ or ‘developed’ when European contact was made. Furthermore, the use of “Eskimo” is offensive and was used in various racist writings throughout history. Anybody sharing knowledge, even if through a free app, must be more responsible about the narrative they are spreading. If you are unable to make the changes, I suggest contacting local university faculty/graduate students in each area and paying them to write these histories.

Dublin Intro Walking Tour. Used GPS my city for the first time and found it extremely helpful for both walking routes and informational purposes. It’s worth taking the time to learn how to use it before your trip rather then figuring out the Ins and outs as you go The downloads that are available are very accurate and as an avid traveler help us plan are trip with more precision to what we wanted to see.

Great Start!. I used this app during our Europe vacation to Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon, Paris & London. The app provided so many more sites, that were just steps away, for us to visit that we would not have considered if it wasn’t for the app. It was actually fun discovering the new sites and checking them off as “Stamped”. You should mess around with the app to get use to its functions before you actually need to use it however it really is a great app! John - Pickens, SC
