Great but.... Do NOT buy until the developer(s) update the app. I just bought the app to find out it will not function on future versions of iOS. We are in beta 5 testing(last I heard)of the next update. Once the app is updated to be in compliance of future versions of iOS and some UI tweaks, such as being able to skip ahead or go back 30-45 seconds and the ability to listen where you left off. Then this app will get 5 stars. Otherwise I will feel cheated out $35 for an app that I can't use. Dev please please fix this.

Good content. App needs work. The lectures are fantastic. The app has some bugs. It forgets where I've left off and starts from the begging of a lecture or picks up several minutes earlier than I left off. Also the controls don't work from the lock screen.

App is annoyingly non-standard. Content is great. I have been a fan of Watts for decades. But c'mon folks!! To make us pay $$$ for an app that crashes, doesn't remember where you were or what you've listened to, and doesn't have basic 2016 functionality is absurd. If I could return I would. Great content, unreliable and missing essential features. Love the content and the simple, elegant design aesthetic. But it never successfully saves my place in a given track and doesn't have what have become standard audio navigation features like rewind 15 seconds, etc. For $35 I would expect a little more polish.

5 stars for Content, 1 for lack of updates. Alan Watts is my guru. The lectures are gold. The developers need to update the app however. It slows down my phone, for one thing, but also, it doesn't have basic functionality like coming back to the same listening position when I leave the app, rewind, and other things most listening apps currently provide.

When the student is ready.... The master will arrive. This collection of talks, lectures and seminars is breathtaking in its depth and breadth. It is accessible and democratic and unapologetic and heartbreaking and inspiring beyond measure. I simply cannot believe that Professor Watts' work, to which I was introduced only a short time ago, is not more widely recognized and appreciated. This is life changing stuff. Sincere THANKS to Mark Watts and the team who preserved these recordings and have made them available. PLEASE continue this work.

Explaining the unexplainable. Alan Watts was one of the most prominent teachers of Eastern Philosophy in our century. Highly recommended for anyone considering diving further into the subject or for those just curious.

Mostly good recordings. For the price, the app is not very good and the quality of the recordings is sometimes poor. The lectures themselves are mostly entertaining but if you are looking for logical reasoning, you'll be left scratching your head.

Not 64 bit but update coming!. As others here have stated, this app will not work with iOS 11 in its current form. Update: The 64 bit version has been released, but when used on an iPad mini 4, the icon shows up as a generic Apple icon (the correct icon displays using an iPhone). I was hoping the developer might make this a universal app since it required an update for iOS 11 compatibility. That way, on an iPad, everything displays properly.

I'm a junkie.. Just can't get enough of his lectures. This app is the only one I've ever paid more than $5 for. I can't wait to get the others as well.

Should be an audiobook, not an app. The app is quirky and incomplete. It forgets your location, doesn't auto play when connected to Bluetooth and periodically crashes. The content is amazing, of course, and would have been better distributed as audiobook content on the iTunes Store or Audible. It would have then benefitted from features like bookmarking and speed adjustment... for free.

Alan Watts is a true master of words and communication. I love his talks and his ability to communicate a wide range of concepts and historical information to a western audience.

Airplay and Sonos support needed. Can’t use AirPlay to cast to my speakers or play in Sonos. Why don’t you just make these podcasts that I can play in iTunes

Words can't explain. I started listening to this man when I was about 17 years old. I am now 40. There has never been anyone that has clarified so much about how I already felt but could not explain. In my opinion these lectures are almost like directions for life in that they get I to so much about why we do what we do and what the cause is. I can go on for hours. Is you are a deep thinker and want to understand yourself an those around you then I would suggest you just pay the money and get the app and be thankful it's even available.

App has improved. They’ve made it better. Still wish they’d consolidate all the content but it’s working better at least.

Major bugs make this app difficult to use and enjoy. I am using this app on an iPhone 6S, and when I pause it, and come back to the app a few hours later, it goes back to 0:00 instead of remembering where I left off. Also you cannot hit play/pause/etc from control center or headphones, only when app is open. I paid good money for this app, please get it together and fix these significant bugs

Alan Watts App Review. Fantastic app, hours of listening joy. Initially I thought the price of the app was expensive but having it now, it's worth every penny.

Content is wonderful, App is a shocker. The content, talks by Alan Watts, are pure gold. They are a real joy to listen to and they stimulate the mind as to the nature of life and the universe. The content is highly recommended. The App however is pretty poor - very basic. It continually restarts from the beginning of a track, doesn’t store where you got up to, the unplayed section doesn’t work correctly. I’m sure the App will get improved with time. If the App never improved would I still buy it? Definitely!

Alan watts iPhone app. Very nice collection of lectures, although with patience one could collect most of the content one podcast at a time. I would like to see more control in playing selections. Now it seems that no matter where you start, the audio just keeps playing and playing. I would prefer that is stopped at the end if a chapter or section. If you like Alan watts and don't have patience for the podcast, this is for you.

Classic Alan Watts. I bought this to replace the Out of Your Mind CD series that has gotten scratched up over the years. Not disappointed.

One listen and I'm hooked!. This is about the lecturer and the lectures, not the app, per se. Well worth the money to have these words of wisdom delivered so eloquently—with that cool and theatrical British voice. We're all so used to free...or 99 cents these days. But sometimes you have to shell out some real cash. And this is one of those times.

Getting Grounded. For me, Watts helps me get back to the basics of life. From his religious and Zen background he makes it all make sense to me. I specifically like this app because it's well organized with Alan Watts essentials and I take it with me everywhere I go.

5 star content. App is a bit clunky, though, and overpriced.. If you can part with $35, it IS nice to have it all in larger chunks. All of this content can be had for free by subscribing to the Alan Watts podcast, but then you have to put up with shorter snippets of talks and the intro/outro. Also, what gives with requiring iOS 4.1 or better? I have the original iPhone (3.1.3 is the latest version of iOS it will run), so I have to listen on my iPad 2. This is a first-world problem, sure, but come on, guys... That said, any Anglophone that wishes to gain a greater understanding of the far east really ought to be familiar with Alan Watts. He died almost 40 years ago, but his insight is timeless. Listen and learn, young padawan. If you don't think it is overpriced, google "Khan Academy".

Incredible App. Timeless and incredible Alan Watts organized for you to hear the wisdom flowing through at your convenience and pacing. I had reservations about paying this much for an app. It was worth every penny and more. A must buy for your metaphysical/spiritual/philosophical library. As fresh, alive and relevant now as ever, even though some talks are over 50 years old!

Beautiful and inspiring from beginning to end.. This app may seem pricey, but I feel I've gotten my value in just listening through the lectures once. I go on daily walks and listen to Alan's poetic philosophy using headphones and it makes every walk full of profound moments. Great Value, if a bit Pricey. While this app is certainly pricey (the most expensive app I've ever purchased), it's a fantastic value to any Alan Watts fan. You get dozens of hours of lectures for a fraction of the price they're charging on the official website. Still, I can't help but think that Mr. Watts probably wouldn't approve of the monetization of his legacy. I'm not saying this app or his lectures should be totally free, but perhaps $10 would be a completely reasonable asking price.

I Love It!. For Alan Watts fans or those who love to hear words of wisdom and want to continue to evolve toward more awareness, downloading this App is the way to go! Before I had to record Alan from the radio and then transfer that to CD and then that to my computer, but now I can have a great collection of his greatest talks with me on the go. I Love it!

Excellent collection of lectures. I've been waiting for a release like this since I junked my last cassette player...$30 for the same Alan Watts material that I once paid $300 for - one of my favourite iDevice apps ever. An update or two per year would be a wonderful bonus!

Great info, good quality recording. I love listening to Alan Watts again. Used to hear him on late night space radio. For a $35 app, I would have preferred consistency between recordings and a better (remastered) sound quality.

Nice app. Good selection to start.. The App serves its purpose well, the Watts conversations are available to me whenever I need them be it Subway or Airbus. Excellent. Convenient user-friendly access to the musings of a brilliant mind. Not sure if Mr. Watts would agree, but it's the best way I can put it. You can listen to these lectures over and over; however, I will feel sad when I've listened to them all. Perhaps the creators of this app will add more content in the future. The evolution of religion. Alan Watts is a treasure. These lectures are pearls of wisdom from the orient for English speakers. As the world becomes smaller more people will cite Alan Watts as a pioneer in the spiritual evolution of humanity. Beyond the content, the actual app is simple to use but almost too basic. It could perhaps supplement the lectures with historical content or additional references or historical facts about Watts life.

Highly recommended.. Knowing only fragments here and there that I had picked up about Buddhism, I heard Alan on the radio and was fascinated with what he had to say. I'm halfway through these lectures and have listened to a number of them several times and have benefitted greatly. Regardless of where you are in life, I'm sure you'll benefit from these lectures as I have. And the app is simple to use and stable.

As others have said...this may be expensive for an app but for what you are actually getting, hours upon hours of profound wisdom from an amazing philosopher (who often sounds like Anthony Hopkins in my opinion!), is nothing short of a steal. While Alan answers no questions he poses many. I enjoy the profound confusion he offers...helps me to chew this bone of life with relish. No, not the condiment!
