The file size is 46.08 MB.
The current version is 6.7.1 and works well on
10.0 and high ios versions.
The more geeky among you probably know that companies like Intel used to have a 'tick tock' strategy, which was just a silly way to say they make lots of changes, then they make small tweaks, then they make lots of cha...well you get the idea. We do that too! So 6.7.1 brings you:
- CarPlay reliability improvements (for those seeing the disconnected from Pocket Casts message)
- Fixes for some files that wouldn't play with Trim Silence or Volume Boost enabled
- Some performance improvements and crash fixes
What could the next tick bring? Only...wait for it..._time_ will tell. Get it?! Because clocks go tick and they tell ti...never mind.
But probably the best podcast app on iOS
It lets you do everything you want to do. I stream only. It's surprising how complicated other apps make not-downloading. However, on a recent trip, before my known hour long service dead zone, I was able to download a few podcasts with a few touches-so easy. Then, it auto cleaned (deleted) them once I finished them. It also lets you customize a start point per podcast so you can skip the intro/commercials/etc. PLUS it works well with the Apple headphone clicker-many don't do that. You can skip ahead, skip back (you can customize that too by the way) and of course pause and resume. It's the best period
Overall this is a great app. I wish it had the app watch app playback like Overcast and the simplified organization of Castro. But this is multi-platform and solid which is really nice.
My favorite podcast app. Currently use it on iPhone & iPad. Have also used Android version. User-friendly interface & menus. Easy to navigate, easy to add podcasts quickly. Does not have all the extraneous stuff that iTunes has. Use it every day. Only quirks: 1) I fall asleep often while listening, and podcast ends & is moved from date/chronological position to "played." To finish listening, have to scroll down to greyed-out played casts, then "Mark it Unplayed" to return it chronology. ONE FIX = to set player alarm to stop at, for example, 1/2 hour. 2) Looking for versions for iMac & Macbook, without having to go through iTunes.
Podcasts take about 30 to start playing even when downloaded offline. Not downloading in the background. Back to Castro, much better app.
Love the design of the app. I've listened to five days worth of podcasts so far thru this app and haven't gotten tired of it yet! Love the web interface as well!
I love podcasts. The ability to filter, skip silence, and the quality are all superior to any other podcast apps.
I found out about pocket Casts from a thread in Reddit and bought the app after reading through many recommendations. The UI is clean and non cluttered making for an excellent experience. This is definitely my go to podcast app. Happy to spend the $3.99 on an useful app.
@verypink It's called Pocket Casts. To be honest none if the pod cast apps I've tried have got that option 😝

Great and regular updates and fixes. Simple yet powerful app. Apple, take note.
For adding up next to carplay :)
Update: knocking a star off for a minor annoyance; when sharing a podcast to a friend on mobile, it doesn't include an RSS link on mobile so they can listen using their podcast app of choice, just a link to hear it in your browser or through Pocket Casts. I feel like this is the developer trying to force the app on other people. For now, I've downloaded Downcast app, and share links through that. It's an annoying extra step. I recently switched from downcast; I was looking for something that handled playlists better than that application does. One of my issues with is fact that I really don't need playlists, I want to order my podcasts on the fly, enter Pocket Casts "Up Next" feature. This feature makes it extremely simple to add a podcast to listen to next, without having to subscribe to said podcast. I would recommend Pocket Casts, based on the "Up Next" feature alone. A couple of suggestions: I'd like to see a list of available podcasts when discovering new podcasts. Right now you have to subscribe to see a full list. Also, the ability to apply global settings to all new podcasts is a bit hidden under the name "Storage & Data Use" and doesn't include all settings you can make to individual podcasts. That said, I quickly deleted Downcast from my iPhone after just a week of using Pocket Casts. Great job.
This app is the only one I am proud buying. The app itself is amazing, it is certainly the best podcast app out there, and the update notes worth the buying itself! Just buy it! Thank you devs, from Brazil! (sorry the bad english). Update: in the new version is very dificult do delete a podcast file (so many taps to do it... 5 to be exactly!)... Still worth the price, but it could be just an long swipe (like mail).
I've used this app since 2015 and it is amazing! I only recently made the switch from Android to iPhone, but I have not noticed a difference in quality. I really like that it tracks your hours of listening and even how much you have skipped. Also, their update logs are usually fun to read.
Please add the following: --- setting to download xx number of podcasts per playlist. I may only want the newest podcast is a playlist every morning. Delete all other include partially played --- setting to manually sort order of each playlist. If I want to listen to the newest podcast version. I want that at the top every morning and next highest priority playlist next in line. --- setting to remove partially played podcasts from playlists when new podcast is available. Great app and developer, lots of updates, excellent user interface, easy to find and setup apps. This could be a contender to Overcast if delevoper continues to listen and improve. Until then I will choose Overcast.
I like the app but it's suspicious that it links with my gchat
I just purchased the app about a week ago. It's a decent app but I can't sync. I get a sync failed message and I know it wasn't happening at first. Also, in the help section, it states that the podcast layout can be changed by swiping to the right. Either I'm an idiot or it doesn't work. That isn't very important but the sync issue is. I'm not impressed with the auto-reply email I got saying I might or might not get a response. Really? Nice... I agree with the user who commented about the cutesy language, lame and not helpful. We'll see what happens. If my issues are addressed I'll update this review. So, I see issues steadily fixed and really have no complaints. I like the app. Now, how about bookmarks? The other podcast app I purchased at the same time as Pocket Casts now has this feature. I hope you guys add it too!
This app is so good, I've paid for it three times: on Android, on iOS, and for the web app.
Updated 5/8: Dev has completely fixed the buffering issues in the latest update. Thanks for the quick reply/fix! Original review: Podcast playback as of late of very finicky. Buffering times are out of control and sometimes the podcast just won't play at all. This didn't used to be a problem but one of the recent updates has just made this app infuriating to use.
