Great app. This helped me so much with my French for high school it's not much to pay for a good grade and has a good vocabulary selection to have a basic to intermediate conversation

Great Phrasebook- But Needs Alphabet. I love this French phrasebook, I find it very user friendly. I like how it shows the words in phonetic form since French is difficult to read and pronounce. Which leads me to my only complaint- it would be really nice if this included the alphabet and a pronunciation guide. That would make this app perfect and a 5 star.

After buying I didn't expect to have to purchase add ons. Phrase categories are rudimentary and if you want anything more sophisticated you are invited to purchase add ons. I'm used to the come on with free apps, not the ones I paid for. Also, I didn't get too far before I got a pop up box inviting me to register for a free phrase a day. When I tried to register I got a lot of programming script and a message that I would have to try again later. I did. Same problem. But the message wouldn't leave the screen unless I rejected the "offer," so I couldn't get past the first basic phrases unless I declined.

This one is good for me. I’ve tried several language apps and I really like this one. The flash cards help me to retain words. It’s very easy to use and whenever I have a few minutes to kill, I can learn a few more words.

Overpriced. Almost everything I needed to know while traveling required additional purchases. For what is offered in the app, it should be free. Totally overpriced for what is available.

Listen to reviewers. Do what they asked, they are good suggestions. Now, stop the app from rotating and rotating forever. Give us an option to not let it rotate more than 90 degrees to the left or right like how safari or iPod videos rotation function.

Doesn’t help beginners. There’s no place that displays the alphabet or simple verbs so you can start building sentences. There are only phrases and flash cards which doesn’t help with no prior knowledge

I speak easy French. I absolutely love this app because it helps me learn so much. Now, I can speak so many French words, and now, it's starting to annoy my family! This app has made me want to just come home, do all the work I need to do and get it over with so I have lots of time to practice my French. I tell my friends about it, and sometimes I'll start speaking in French and they'll be like, you speak French!! It is so amazing on what this app has taught me and I'm very thankful for it!

Best app I've found. Title says it all really... This app is by far above the rest in terms of just teaching you the words and simple phrases. Short of Rosetta Stone too this is easily the best tool I have for learning French. Now mind you there is a fee for getting the full app. But I think it's worth it, and it isn't terribly costly either.

Perfect. Works great, worth the money.

Incomplete. Every freakin version.. On the surface this app appears to be well made CBS easy to use. (Just like speak easy). However when you try to use it you immediately run into a pay-wall. I can't look up the word "bear" without purchasing a bundle? Each version I've tried hasn't found what I need and I can't purchase another bundle for fear that it too won't be a complete dictionary.

Yeah I love this.. I have taken many years of French that was very rarely put to use and therefore I got really rusty on most of it. This is an easy pocket guide for phrases and I can not wait to use it on my travels! This is much easier than taking another class. Quick and to the point! Merci

Terrible in actual experience in France. Do not buy this app. I found phrases on 4 pages in the back of a travel guide which was much better than this. I was excited about this app when I bought it here in the US. However, in practical usage in France over 3 weeks, I found it to be useless. The phrases are too basic, and not usable in actual conversation. Try to mirror what you'd say in a taxi, a hotel, or in a restaurant here, and then imagine the same situation in France and you'll see what I mean. E.g. Try ordering a typical breakfast you'd order using this app, and you will see what I mean.

French. If you do not have the memory, ear, or the tongue to accommodate a language, then you remain with usable phrases. I like this app! Easy to process the phrases, learn basics. In time one would need to advance to a broader academic formality in the art of learning French. However it allows you to read, hear, and phonetically practice! Off to a good start! Repetition is always a key and good set of earphones! Best of luck. Does what it says, worked beautifully!

Painfully basic, overpriced, predatory IAPs. The content it does have is *alright*. The issue is that it has very very little content. The vast majority of phrases you'd use in everyday conversations aren't in here, even with the in-app purchases. Seriously disappointed that I bought this. I should have read the five star reviews more closely - they're very obviously not legit reviews.

Viva La France. Pocket glow has done what my French classes at college were not able to do........that is for me to speak French as the French do. I congratulate you on the form and easy learning context you have developed and I also commend you on the voice of the young lady you chose to give the class. Merci beau coup !

DeeDeeVion. This app is awesome. I liked it so much I purchased the more advanced version which expands to include more helpful words and phrases. I did this before our trip to France in order to brush-up on my conversational/tourist lingo. The voice pronunciation is SO helpful, exact, accurate, and clear. The other extremely helpful element of each phrase/word is that there is a written, phonetic guide. I highly recommend using either of these versions.

Extremely Helpful. Just a simple phrase book with recordings, but the devil is in the details and these guys did a great job. I ended up using this much more than the more ambitious, but flawed, busuu app which I also downloaded. What I really liked about this was, the phrases are well chosen and very useful. You can easily listen to a sentence over and over until you get the pronunciation down, and the hold for slow play feature is pure genius. If Apple made a French language product, this would be it. One small suggestion for an improvement, when a sentence has a common beginning but different endings, I would just repeat the whole sentence for each ending, rather than breaking it up with a "...". Hearing the whole sentence makes it easier to internalize. Nonetheless, a brilliantly practical little app.

Perfect for Traveling. I played around with a few free learn French apps and this one was my favorite, so I bought the full version. Definitely a good investment to have more phrases to use while traveling. I like how for each phrase the app has the written words, how an English speaker should attempt to pronounce the phrase, the spoken audio, and the option to play it slower if need be. As a non-French speaker trying to learn important phrases before a trip to Paris this was perfect.

Best app ever!. Honestly, I don't normally write reviews for any of my apps but this one was necessary. I'm trying to study French and this app is seriously the best guide. The pronunciation is clear, pleasant, and accurate. I really don't know what I would have done without this app... ❤

Very helpful. Not only is this a phrasebook, but it has recordings of the phrases to help in pronunciation or to play when needed.

Best for the price range. I like the ability to pick the phrases that I want to practice and randomly touch them to listen for comprehension. The ability to touch an individual word or structure and connect to the definition or grammar hint would be helpful...for instance to understand the double negation in sentences.

Useful phrases. The collection of phrases are grouped nicely. They can be helpful during a visit to France.

Good for traveling, very clear.. Certainly a good app for anyone looking to travel to France or Canada because communicating would be easier when looking for directions or going places, etc. I wouldn't suggest this if you're trying to indulge in learning the entire language though, options can become limited.

Too basic. A potentially really good app but not enough content. In the food category there are maybe 20 vegetables if that many. How more content is add as the flags cards are a terrific tool.

Don’t Bother. I was looking for useful phrases and I found two! Essential words like water couldn’t be found unless willing to pay $1.99 to upgrade.

Useful & worth it!!!. One plus this app has over others like it is that one can read the pronunciation AND hear it. For example: "see you later" in French is " ‘a plus tard" I can click it and hear a women say the phrase as well as read it (a plew tar). I m very pleased

French words/phrases. This app has been the best so far. I can make flash cards with the French words or phrases, the pronunciation and the English meaning as well as listed to state it ac correct as possible! Keep the info coming!!

Best app to learn French. I downloaded numerous apps. to learn French. This by far was the most accurate. I also like the fact that they spoke slowly. Practical, words and phrases that you need. No fluff about grammar or stuff like that. Just start learning practical useful words and phrases

Very basic, best for those who know no French. The app has several categories but limited options in each and no room to add more. This is for someone who would like to emulate speaking French but doesn’t want to take the time to learn the language.

Sewper!. An awesome app for learning French quickly! Gives important phrases and useful vocabulary. Only problem I have run into is figuring out how to purchase and download the additional phrase packs. Other than that, it's perfect!

Very Helpful, But I Must Complain. I'm taking French in high school and there's some things I have trouble understanding, like telling time. This app is very useful and it even says the phrase or word you touch. There's only two things I don't like. One, it doesn't have every word. While it does have a lot of words and phrases, there's a bunch of words and phrases it doesn't have (which I would like to have). And two, for other words the app doesn't have, you have to pay for them. Why buy an app then have to pay extra for words it should've came with? If you want everything, I suggest buying an English to French dictionary or take a class. But this app is very useful, but not for deep conversations and more difficult phrases.

One function lacking. Great phrases and functionality and organization. I only wish you could make a file of your favorite phrases for easy reference. I would pay a little extra for this feature.

It's got the questions, not the answers!. This app is great if you want to ask questions in French. However it doesn't tell you what to expect as a response! There's barely a mention of 'C'est' etc... It's all very good being able to ask where things are but how on earth do you expect us to know what the response means!

Refund requested!!. Review update: 10 days later! Everything now works beautifully and exactly as it should. Accessibilty was restored a couple of days after returning from France (better late than never) and i again realise what a little gem this is (when it works?) Original review: I want my money back!!!! Bought the basic app which worked quite well until I accidentally clicked on the bundle.... 10 days later it's still 'thinking', won't go forward or back therefore I have no access at all to this app. Not a great start to my 2 week holiday in France!! And I'm only giving it one star because otherwise I am unable to send this review!

Great app, but not complete. Love the interface and the French lady's voice that speaks the phrase, but I don't like that there is yet another purchase required to get a fuller vocabulary.

Where is my bundle pack?. Whilst I really like this app - the phonetic spelling is brilliant - I still don't have my bundle pack. I keep getting an error message saying I'm not connected to the Internet when I clearly am. I have tried everything I can think of - even reinstalling the app and the bundle pack STILL refuses to download. I want to love it but instead I'm frustrated by it. Please fix it!

Great App - bundle worked just fine. The app is great and the bundle downloaded first time no problems. Need a bit of French for work and am heading to Paris in a couple of months so the phrases contained in the bundle pack are a huge help to get me started

Useful but lacking. Worth the money, but lacks being able to make flashcards from your favourite phrases which is a significant oversight. Favourites being the ones you want to work on. Also annoying you have to make further purchases for some phrases but at least that was clear from free version. Overall ok, but the flashcards thing stops it being good.

Ok but limited without further $$. Nice app and user friendly, but frequently the search returns with translations that require a purchase of the 'bundle pack'. I purchased this app for around $6 and I would expect the complete dictionary for French - if I wanted other languages, I would purchase the 'bundle pack'. Best French app!. Makes learning French easy

Tres magnifique!. Very handy when we traveled across France from valleys of Angers to the mountains of Chamonix. Although I have to say that there was never a shortage of English speaking residents who were more than glad to help us out when we were passing through smaller towns. Get it - absolutely helpful.

Stick with LITE. I have a grade 12 knwledge of French but I don't practice it so I thought I could have this on hand for those times I forgot. Honestly if you have a barebones knowledge of French stick with the lite version and get a pocket dictionary app, that's what I ended up doing, despite buying the full version. It is helpful if you speak 0 French but to have to buy all the expansion packs is annoying...

Great French App. The translations are wonderful and easy to understand. It also gives the French spelling of each phrase which helps you get an even better understanding of the language. Plus there are additional phrase packages you can buy should you feel like you need them. I highly recommend this application.

Great app. Very comprehensive app. If you purchase the bundle pack (worth every cent of the $2), you get a really exhaustive list of words. I really like being able to slow down the pronunciation, and seeing the phonic representation of the words. C'est bon marche.

Just used this in Paris. It worked okay, but I found it lacking in a lot of circumstances, too much in fact for a paid version. I expected a lot more than buying a "teaser app" that requires even more paid expansions for something I already purchased.

💋. I really like this app. It is a little bit pricy for me, although I hardly ever actually buy apps. It's been really great preparing for my trip to France, it's only been a few weeks and already I've learned so much.

Good app. Good for the price. Could have a few more basic phrases, but otherwise no complaints.

Madame. You can go through the list of words quickly. There are no drills or reinforcement of the words so they don't sink in my brain. Not worth the money because it is more like a partial dictionary of words a tourist might use.

Lots of words missing. Some are available in additional packs for a charge but overall only found about a quarter of the words when I searched. It should at least have a eng fre dictionary so you can look up random words but it only has some set phrases to search.

Very clear and easy to use.. The phrases are all useful and logically organized. The woman's voice is pleasant and the design is clean with large words and simple pronoun citation guides. The most important app to have in Paris.

Good Travel App. Good app and worth the $$ for someone traveling to a French-speaking country who just needs to know enough to get by on vacation or something. Probably wont become fluent with this app, but that could be said for just about any iPod app.

Great!. I would add a feature where you could play it as if it were an audio tape and hear both translations so you could listen to it while sleeping or driving.

Very informative. This is a great app. You aren't going to be fluent in French but you'll learn enough to get by and build a foundation to actually learn to speak French if that's your goal. The pronunciations are very clear and the phonetic spellings are great!

Great App!. This is a great app if you wish to learn how to speak French. I would recommend this to beginners it is easy to use. I love that you can see how to prounce a word or sentence and hear at the same time as much as you want.

Just a fancy dictionary not useful for phrases!. This app is stupid I even bought the full version but it's really just vocabulary that I can look up in the dictionary. I don't need a list of words that I can use a dictionary to find, I need phrases and sentences to show me how to use the words... I don't suggest this app.

I like it!. The volume is loud enough on my iPod not to use headphones. The pronunciation seems authentic. But what I like the most is that it presents things in order, unlike most apps. I like that. Not a mish-mosh of everything altogether! That get's my vote best of all!

Good to defend on French but not to speak it. It more centered on what a tourist will use, if you traveling or just want to know the basics in french, it's a perfect app; but if you are willing to learn how to speak French it's no so adequate.
