Barron’s - Investing Insights Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Annoying ads even with paid subscription. App allows ads that auto plays sounds which is really obnoxious. Lately it also frequently forgets that I am logged in and I have to keep signing back in. I wish Barron’s would stop with the clickbait style headlines on latest section. All these things combined encouraged me to ditch my subscription, not the level of quality I expect

Simple things overlooked. Why is it that the WSJ can’t even get the simple things right in their apps. For years you could not access the app if there was an update available. That was problematic as we don’t always have Wi-Fi to update when trying to read the appear. They finally got that fixed and the new update requires you to login again. This is a very easy fix so it must mean that they just don’t care about their customers.

Please fix your app, ad video constantly take over. Before I finish one article, the ad video constantly pops up and takes over the whole screen, with this creeping old man looking right at you then walks off to a chair by the cabin. What the hack? I can’t stand it. Even when I move the screen to hide the ad section, the video still takes over as soon as I read further down the screen. It’s so disruptive. Maybe it’s time to cancel the subscription.

Login Nightmare. From the moment I downloaded the signing was a struggle. On the iPhone, the face recognition never worked. It ask me to sign in every time I opened the app. Finally after spending 20 minutes trying to login, resets my password, face recognition failing, it informed me my subscription ram out yesterday. Why could it not tell me that when I open the app 20 minutes ago??? For obvious reasons I will not be renewing my subscription do to issues with the app

Barron's. I started reading the weekly Barron's in 2008 after being suggested by a friend. Now, 9 years later I am able to manage my retirement on my own. I will always be an advocate as it allows the reader so much personal freedom, money management skills and in depth sector analysis. JD Mondrick New Hartford, NY

font size is tiny, can’t make bigger. iOS 16 has font size settings that are easily adjustable from Control Center, individually for each app. When will this app start making use of this feature so we can change the font size for comfortable reading? If you want to see an app that implements this feature correctly, check out the NPR app on iOS.

Great Articles, App Needs Work. The articles are the main show here and are great. Very informative and valuable. However, the app needs some work. I get random slowdowns where I can’t scroll down the article. If you exit the app to respond to a message and return, you lose your spot in the article. Extremely frustrating.

Can not access full articles. Am having a similar problem that I trace back to the acquisition of a new iPad. Access was never an issue with my older iPad but with my new one, I am unable to read full articles. I keep being asked to sign in and when I do, I am either denied or am asked to signed in again. Circular. Tech confines that I am a subscriber, and I continue to receive the paper hard copy but otherwise, Tech support has been anything but helpful.

Getting buggier. The current release crashes regularly at open on an iPad Mini 6 (current model). Downloaded issues aren’t actually fully downloaded for offline use. And too many ads populate articles as one scrolls, often delayed and disrupting readability. Basically, a subpar app that makes being a paid subscriber much less appealing. I hope Dow Jones prioritizes a better Barron’s app soon.

Fix the search function. The Search function is terrible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Searching for a company name or ticker will sometimes link you to an article, other times it will show zero results (even though there ARE articles), and other times it will show you the articles but then instantly crash the app. Hire someone to fix this ASAP. Content is good, app needs work.

Paid subscription = no ads. 3 stars because Barron’s started adding video ads with sound even though the company charges a hefty subscription fee. The ads are annoying. Barron’s has good writers and informative articles. The app is very useful. The ads; however, detract from the user experience.

Good app in general, but audio bug needs to be fixed. In general, I enjoy using this app to read and listen through the financial analyses, which are good content. However, it seems that the audio cuts all the paragraphs where there is bold fonts in the text. This bug is really annoying. I hope this issue can be fixed soon.

No feedback. 1). There is no way to provide feedback in the app. Would be better than having to do it here. 2). When hitting app help button here it takes you to the Market Watch page and asks you to subscribe. Reinforces desire for feedback to be provided here. 3). Some paragraphs in the app end in … When this happens it is cutting off the end of the sentence and you have to go to the e-edition or actual paper to get the line. This is not real convenient. 4). Commenting is no longer allowed. Not sure if this is a programming problem or a management problem. Not sure if comments are allowed on internet or if the each edition can be viewed on net as opposed to ah hoc article listings.

Unable to create watchlist. While trying to create watchlist for my favorite stocks, i always am seeing this error banner stating “Unable to create watchlist”. I think watchlist if one of the most basic and essential feature of the app and should work as expected. Having not many features, It reflects a very negative experience for first time users like me that even among the very few features provided by the app, one of them is not working. Also, the UI to create watchlist is not that intuitive. Please try and fix it for the next release.

Not User Friendly at Times. Overall I enjoy the App. What is frustrating is I will receive a email from Barron’s with articles of interest. When I click on a article, I’m routed to the internet asking me to subscribe. Why not route me to the App where I have already subscribed and paid Barron’s their fee. When I go to the App, I will try to find the articles they emailed me with no success. This is frustrating since I’m already a paid subscriber.

Come on!. A long time subscriber. Watchlist still not corrected. Three weeks of unloading and reloading app for updates and still no watchlist. A service call with talking to 4 reps a week ago and watchlist glitch still not corrected. This is a paid subscription. Yahoo and CNBC are fee. Highly recommend Barrons take into account the demographics of subscribers. Review the reviews. Boss man 2 years ago versus current. What happened? Big down turn in markets this week and use free version of CNBC. SHAME ON YOU!

Obnoxious video ads. Recently the app starts playing annoying video ads with sound while I am trying to read. I tried muting the ad, but it starts up again as I scroll down a little to read the story. I am paying for my Barron’s subscription and I am disgusted by these obnoxious ads. I have to turn my sound volume down to zero while using the app, and then remember to turn it back up when done. The app needs a way to choose sound off all the time. Also it now makes me log in constantly. The app is updated weekly and requires I log in after each update.

So many problems. Which I can sum up in two words: customer service. Rude, unresponsive, anything but helpful, moronically stupid, repetitive, doesn’t appear capable of reading basic English (judging by their email replies), etc etc. Didn’t receive the physical paper for 6+ weeks? Meh, we don’t care. App freezing? Well we are not tech experts. Long story short, Dow Jones has set up a customer service department that is about anything other than customer service.

They can’t figure out tables and images. I pay for Barron’s yet I am forced to watch loud flashing video ads while I read articles on Saturday morning. I don’t know what’s so hard about tables and images for the Barrons people, but not 1 table shows properly without getting cut off. There is no offline functionality. You download the magazine and if you open it on an airplane is says “unable to connect. Retry”. You still need the physical paper copy in 2020. Dow Jones hires really poor programmers

locks out an iOS feature. This version of Barrons prevents the user from selecting a single word to get a dictionary definition. You are permitted only to select one paragraph. Select All is also not allowed. Maybe to better protect Dow Jones' intellectual property the app could be redesigned to present all text as a graphic, with screenshot disabled, and the screen darkened if a nearby smartphone lens is detected.

Bug on comment. 1. I clicked on a story 2. Click on the comments icon 3. Type my comments or I even tried it blank 4. When I click on sign up to post, the app crashes 5. Expected behavior: when I click on the comment icon, I should be single signed on to the comments page and only the submit or cancel buttons be available. I should not be asked to sign up for posting the comments. When is this bug going to be fixed? I’m frustrated with the application crashing since I can’t write comments.

Bugs with login and video ads. I’m a subscriber to the content, but the bugs in the app are interfering with my ability to read articles: The app asks you to login to view content when you’re already logged in. Clicking login after this notification does nothing. You have to close the app and reopen to view subscriber content. Video ads play by default and sound is on. Scrolling away from the article with the embedded ad doesn’t stop the audio. Closing the app is the only way to stop it.

Solid app, but could use improvements. I gave this app 4 stars because app is solid, but I found it wanting in the following two ways: 1. Search Feature: Their search feature might be where the app is most deficient. It’s hard to search for articles on the app. If there’s a way to search for articles, I can’t figure out. I can only search for stock symbols, which give the 5 most recent articles that mention the stock. A lot of times that’s not enough. It would be great if we could search articles by terms, authors, date, etc. 2. “Open in App”: When I open a Barron’s article I found in Google, my Safari web browser gives me the option to open the article in the app. But doing so just opens the app to wherever I left off the last time I was on the app. With no way to search for articles in the app, this can be frustrating. The only way to read these articles seems to be by signing in to my Barron’s account on my web browser, which I don’t want to do. Other than that, the app is pretty solid. Nice user interface, nice font, good articles.

Stutters, glitches and crashes. First time subscriber and user of the mobile app. The app crashes for me on both ipad and iphone. Before it eventually but inevitably does, I experience stuttery scrolling behavior. Also, parts of the content is missing, for example in the recent piece on biotech companies, the biotech index chart would flash for a fraction of a second an disappear, never to be seen again on both phone and tablet, unless you use the tablet in landscape mode. Really annoying and disappointing. I’ve used some exemplary apps from other free news providers. You can do better.

App Dissimilar From Barrons Web Page. I have had the Barrons app for a number of years. It is good for quick access to a story but it seems deficient in depth and access to all aspects of Barrons. I don’t have a lot of time so certain timely information is important to me. As examples I have Barrons emails sent regarding stories. When you click on a story from the email it opens in the web to Barrons. It then asks if I want the app, which I have, so why not open up in the app. I like the data option which only appears in the web version and there is no access from the app. If you pick the e edition access from the app it seems to take forever to load. I have no time or patience, so its not the best option either. A good app would be more like the web version.

Can’t post comments. Have the latest 5.11.8, but still can’t post comments. Even when I am logged in, says “Sign to Post” and when I click on the button, it crashes the app every time (since about a year that I have attempted to post comments). iPhone 12 mini - iOS 16.1.1 model: MG603LL/A

Offline reading no longer supported. Prior to this latest app update, I could download and read an entire issue - in fact several issues - on the plane. Loved that feature as it allowed me to catch up with recent stories I’d missed. This new app requires an active internet connection, so I can no longer read on a long flight. Please restore the app to its previous functionality. Note: the Wall Street Journal app still supports offline reading. Barron’s and WSJ apps used to work identically. In this case, newer is not better.

Come on guys. You can do better!. The content is great but the app is horrible. It keeps auto playing ads with sound, despite having my volume all the way down and the switch turned Off. And I have to log in numerous times. I expect better from a prestigious periodical. Looks like this is happening to several other people too Let’s get this right!

Not working anymore!!. The App is now useless as there is a bug that block you from reading articles. Even though we have a full paid subscription it constantly wants me to log on because it says I have no paid subscription. And it seems from the latest reviews this is a common problem that Barrons is doing nothing about to fix! Really not a way to treat trusted subscribers for a 20 USD a month subscription.

Ignores Phone Settings. With the most recent update, ads always play sound, even though I have the sound turned off on my phone. Not sure how it ignores my phone settings but I clicked on App Support and it send me to a MarketWatch subscription page, rather than a place to provide feedback / seek support, so the lack of quality control makes sense. Not sure I trust this app …

Hacking my privacy?. For over a year now this app asks me if it should track me all the time or “ask app not to track” EVERY TIME I open the app. To make it worse neither option is clickable so to see the content which I PAY FOR, I must just slide that pop up away, effectively not answering. Therefore I assume Dow is taking liberties with tracking my data and I give a low rating. Tried contacting through Apple. I just deleted and reinstalled the Barron’s app so THAT didn’t help! Maybe someone can read this and respond or reach out with the fix.

Great App. I love this app and how easy it is to get useful information. It is easy for me to use and it had many great features. I use this app almost every day and it is one of my favorite news sources. I recommend this app to anyone who does not want to spend a lot of money for great information.

Great articles. Just going to give some advice if you decide to cancel you can only do so through iTunes, go to iTunes, account settings, subscriptions, click on Barron’s, then if you choose click on cancel. Barron’s was not clear on this process so wanted to give a heads up to any who subscribed and was lost as I was.

Auto playing video ads ruin user experience. This is a terrible app with two desperate flaws. First, it regularly fails to recognize subscriptions and one has to click through login in and restore purchases dialogs. Second it has auto play video ads with intrusive soundtracks. Listening to music while reading your paid subscription articles is impossible because the video ads launch every few seconds. This for a $400 annual subscription is absolutely pathetic.

The same information again & always. This is a critic over Barron’s editorial line. When you sign-up for Barron, all you hear about, all you learn about, is the same stuff. On Monday it’s about Tesla, on Tuesday it’s about Apple, on Tuesday it’s about Microsoft and then Thursday it’s Tesla again. Can you guys expand your views and tell us about things we actually want to hear about? But no, every headline is about how Tesla is this and that. We don’t care. Do your job and tell us something new.

Older iPad? No Barron's for YOU!. Those of us with iPads not capable of running iOS 10 can no longer even use prior compatible versions as of now. The old app tells us to download the "new and enhanced" version but we cannot because the App Store says it requires iOS 10. And the older version, while still downloadable, simply tells us to upgrade. I've never had this happen with ANY other app. It is find to not support older iOS apps but not fine to just cut off those of us who don't get the latest hardware every year. Let us use the old version unsupported! My six year old iPad 3 works fine with iOS 9 for everything I want to do .... Except read Barron's. Disappointed. maybe the website will still work.

Hooray for Barron’s. If you, like me, live in the business world of investing, it’s practically impossible to imagine life without Barron’s. A few times each year Barron’s misses Saturday delivery and arrives on a hollowing Monday or Tuesday. These are bad weekends indeed and encourage a movement for the abolition of holidays for those who deliver the mail. Richard Hoe.

Unable to report delivery issue. I have now had the print/digital subscription for some time. I reported the issue once and now i am unable to report the issue when it occurs. I get a pop up saying call customer service. Please update this app asap so ‘report delivery issue ‘ works, same problem when i go online on my pc. I did call customer service several times and they are not helpful, at all. Also, please update the app so i can turn off the ‘auto renew’

Crashes Constantly. I’m usually patient and rarely write a review, but I have to since this app continually gets worse and worse. It crashes at least 10-20 times each week as I read the magazine, and god forbid you pause for any length of time since then I have to close the app and restart it on my own. Daily articles are fine, but I can’t get Saturday delivery of the paper where I live and don’t want to wait until Tuesday to read the content. However, it is getting worse and worse making the value drop week in and week out in my eyes.

FR: Listening queue. I love to use this app to listen to articles. Most articles ends at around 5min. So I want it allow to add articles into a queue, and the app plays them one by one, without letting me find next one to start listening.

Watch list issues and ad issues. Just downloaded the app after buying a subscription yesterday. Within the app, I am unable to create watchlists...it keeps giving me an error. Also, like other reviews have stated, you are unable to listen to background music or podcasts while on this app because the ads takeover any sound. Frustrating. You would think if you are paying a monthly subscription, ads wouldn’t be plastered everywhere.

App crashes; no offline viewing. I am amazed at how bad this app is relative to its sister app, WSJ. My app does not download for offline reading. It crashes often. Barrons has good content and when you have a network connection AND the articles load properly / app doesn’t crash, it is good. Unfortunately, this is 50-50 with the app as I constantly have to reboot it. The issue that initiates me the most is the inability of the app to download the full magazine and allow for seamless reading offline. How has this not been fixed yet!!

Minor bug. I read Barron’s and WSJ on the iPad. Recently, if I am mid article and let the iPad go to sleep or I lock it and then I reopen the iPad and Barron’s/WSJ app, the the same article comes up but it is reset to show the beginning of the article. So you have to scroll back to where you left off. The apps used to save your spot in the article whenever you locked and then unlocked your iPad. Basically a pain in the neck since I read these papers and their articles off and on throughout the days.

Why can’t I print?!. It seems that they absolutely do not allow any printing from the app. They apparently also made it impossible to copy an article to paste into a different app and print from there. While I understand that they’re trying to protect their intellectual property, it’s hugely annoying and inconvenient. I mean, is it a huge problem for them, enough to justify annoying their customers? Or did some tech in IT say, hey people possibly maybe can sometimes cause lost business by printing and distributing articles so let’s block everybody including our honest customers. I’m sorry, but I still like paper for those few articles I want to annotate and file for future reference. The saving of articles in the app just does not provide the same convenience. Plus, I’m older and my eyes get tired faster reading on screens that with paper. It’s stupid, makes me want to cancel my subscription.

Must Reading for Market Insights. I am a relatively new reader, and find the articles very informative and insightful. For as long as I continue to self-manage my stock portfolio, I will consider reading Barron's cover to cover very important. It's a trusted source of great information.

Pop up advertisement videos are annoying. As you read articles, you get rudely interrupted by their pop up marketing videos. When you pay for service, l don’t want to be interrupted by your sales marketing. If I wanted to watch advertisements I’ll turn on the television. Fix it and stop the pop up advertisements. Readers should have the option on whether they want to watch a stupid advertisement or not. The advertisement shouldn’t be forced upon them.

Losing readers due to technology. If you only care about readers with the latest ipad then you are fine. But if you want to retain the maximum # of eyeballs then your app should be able to differentiate between ipads that have the latest ios and those that don't. The app store will not allow me to upgrade Barron's since my ipad can't use the latest IOS. So i cant read Barron's? What happened to concerns about universal access? Please fix or I can cancel my subscription. Suddenly Barron's is not a part of my weekly Sunday morning ritual.

Broken navigation. I use the app in my iPad and it seems geared to just deliver up the magazine, not the breaking news. It also sometimes just shows a blank page page if I am following a link from the alert on my screen. After frustrating interactions I usually give up on the app and just go to the main page via a browser. Skip the app, it’s not worth the pixels it’s painted with.

Potential still unrealized. This should be a great app — perfect use for an iPad — but it continues to fail. Navigation is clumsy and while some of the tiles are better displayed, it’s still confusing to find what you are looking for. But even worse: Memory management is terrible; you cannot load a new article half the time. The bug was reported at least 3 years ago and remains unfixed. Essentially forces you to a browser version, which negates the value of the app. Barron’s should do much better than this.

App Continues to get worse. It seems that Barron’s feels that the well working app from a year ago needed to be “modernized” and thus broken. The sterile looking top stories section, now infused with ads, detracts from the excellent content. Get rid of the black! Expanding a graphic on an iPad is now unreadable. Any white background area becomes black rendering all text unviewable and unreadable. What used to be an enjoyable experience has now become irritating. Tied with the ridiculous price increase, not worth continuing my subscription.

Crashes. This version is not usable please fix it as it keeps crashing.

Buggy App & Low insight Analysis. The App keeps crashing, with some articles only showing the first paragraph. The watchlist often doesn't work and has limited ways to view your portfolio. Final issue is the low quality of the financial analysis. This is analysis light, with opinion, too often replacing detailed analyst. Go for the WSJ or FT instead. They both have better financial journalist and are comparable in price if you get a digital subscription.

Free trial is trying indeed. I’m unable to offer opinion regarding accuracy or caliber of content here. But I can attest to the promise of a free trail as a scam by any other name. A clear strategy here of making cancellation a process so difficult one will simply give up allowing them to collect payments outside the 30 days. Given the lengths they have so clearly gone to insure this. Lengths quickly becoming apparent should you suffer the misfortune of navigating their app and website. A sane person would have to question the value of any service offered from a company who treats customers in such a fashion. It seems a sort of customer service equivalent to that of criminal enterprise. They too have such a solution in place to retain membership in high numbers after the initial excitement of a trial period subdues.

Disappointing. The content is good, but the app is seriously flaw. It's laggy even on iPad 2. The WSJ app is much better.

Great Magazine / Buggy App. The magazine is great. Not so much for the app. The app freezes up continuously. Either the front page stays frozen or you read an article and you can't go to the next page because it's frozen.

Retina support pls. Don't understand what holds them from upgrading the app to support Retina Screen. WSJ has done it long time ago. They belong to the publisher.

No refund. After being barred access to my account I was told that my account couldn’t be found despite them charging my apple account. Complete nonsense. The service is overpriced anyway.

Love Barrons but there needs to be more Kindle-like functionality.. I used to use the newsstand reader on my PC which was the actual virtual version of the paper edition. You could highlight and write on the surface and ave the entire edition. YOU CANNOT DO IT WITH THIS APP The good thing is it is still the Barron's magazine possibly the best financial news paper for the lay person. Their comments section is turning into Yahoo finance however…

Old school. Late to embark en mobiles and poor stock selection. I'm concealing my suscription in coming days

Great. Good writing. Very stable. Ads aren't annoying

great app. I like it

Barron's on iPad. Extremely user friendly. Easy to switch sections. Love it,

Requires subscription. Does not make clear a paid subscription is required. AND beyond ridiculous does not let you buy one. #fail

Excellent app!. I have been a big fan of Barron's for many years. Now I am even more hooked to this magazine . The app is great. Easy to read. Nice big font etc.

Crashing. Impressed with the content but it would be nice if I could actually use the search bar without the app crashing. Not looking good beyond the free trial.

Often Recomended. Advanced but easy to read and I've resubscribed to it recently based on another recommendation I recently found online. It was at the top of the list of a series of well written reviews by a CFA's top eight investing research tools.

Actually, better than the paper edition.. A great improvement to the paper edition, with access to video, graphic charts, and best, previous editions.

Investing Information. Great source of investment ideas and advice! Tremendous amount of information to keep you informed of the latest information on individual companies and investment strategies. A must have for individual investors and advisors looking to help their clients.

Stock quote. It will be better to add a stock quote function in this app. Also, it should add a function to allow user to view articles in a single page.

Barron's on Saturday. Best way to start the weekend. Always interesting, always informative.

Better than before. The new ap is better than before .... But it needs work

It's great. Great content. Easy to read through.

Keeps Crashing. After the latest iOS update the app keeps crashing. Also, I wish they had a better e-reader for their magazines.

Needs much improvement. This app needs to improve a lot to make it as accessible as the print version. I would advise that they change the layout so that you start at the cover and can flip through the app in the same way that you flip through the paper. It seems very disjointed having it organized by columns and features etc. The app should remember your spot when you leave the app and then come back. This is very frustrating, especially if you are in the middle of a longer article. As well, often when I have been in the middle of an article and swipe to continue, it brings me to one of the content pages as opposed to the rest of the article. This is very frustrating. Also, if you are like me and read Barron's for much of the statistical information, this is incomplete. Much of the Market Data is missing which is frustrating as there are certain things I can't find elsewhere. I think the developers need to rethink how they present the information through this app. I am not sure to model it after the WSJ makes sense, as they are very different papers.

Beautiful. One of the best apps

Free version almost worthless. Zero content unless you subscribe--all you get is the front page. Waste of time.

Excellent journalism. I have been a journalist all my life and Forbe's has my admiration for its excellent work.

Finally updated--much better!. The end of August brought a surprising and welcome update: Dow Jones has finally updated the Barron's app to support both the retina display of the latest iPad, and the multitasking features of iOS 5! I had truly given up hope and thought the publishers had abandoned the app. The app now works very well for offline reading of Barron's content (subscription required). It appears that they also fixed an annoying tendency for the app to navigate to the table of contents instead of the next page. I am very happy! I am rating the app as 4 stars out of 5, because it's good, but not perfect. I notice that the graphics aren't quite "retina" quality (bitmapped text is still fuzzy, etc.), and I think there is room for improvement re: the article navigation bar on the right. It would be better if this could be hidden to allow the article to use the entire screen area. Overall I can now recommend the app to any Barron's subscriber with an iPad.

Great app. Great app for serious reading

Mr. Except, non bias report on stock market and current issues

Notifications open in Safari not App. It’s pointless to have an app that doesn’t insist you use the app. Why are the notifications opening in the browser instead of the app. This issue is completely illogical. It’s like the app is dumb and doesn’t know it exist!

Great app. Easy to use and provides easy access to all the platforms content.

Slightly shady. Difficult to cancel automatic payment subscription, contact customer service, and similar.

My favorite app. Always improving and getting better. Thank you.

Great magazine. Timely and profitable articles. Very helpful

Needs HD. The app is designed well, but suffers from a lack of HD. This is noticeable on my older iPad, but really pronounced on the new iPad. The blurry text is just unreadable. I am considering canceling my subscription until an update is made available. Don't waste your money until/if an upgrade comes.

Annoying Ads. I have enjoyed reading Barron's for decades. My one, chief concern is in the flashing and moving ads in the digital edition. They truly cheapen the experience and make it intensely annoying. Print subscribers are not subject to anything like this.

Content good…but app is flawed. I really enjoy reading Barron’s. But this app ongoing glitches and instabilities. The company should be embarrassed with the technical failures of the app.

Latest “Enhancements” turned the app into Junk. Barron’s used to be one of the best digital reads a serious investor could find. Now it's an ad-driven nightmare. Just like the web site. The app often crashes. It often fails to properly download the weekly edition for offline reading - I suspect because the advertisers don’t want you to read offline because you don’t see their annoying ads. Many links within a story give you an error message and ask you to “try again” ( the definition of madness?). When you click on an image, to make it bigger and more readable, much of the image becomes blacked out. I’ll be cancelling my subscription when it comes up for renewal unless things improve. I am not optimistic.

Excellent App but.... I find it easy to read the weekly magazine/tabloid however I find it easier to go to regular website for daily observations. Love the writing and quality stories.

Excellent source of information and unbiased analysis. Great magazine with awesome analysis and unbiased investment ideas Great for beginner and experienced investor.

Barron. Excellent and worthy of consideration

App is a disaster. All I want to do is read news stories. It constantly crashes, articles disappear when I move back and forth, and images constantly flicker. It also seems to drain battery as the iPad struggles to process whatever this app is trying to do. It needs to be rewritten from the ground up. Unfortunately it makes Barron’s (which is a great publication) a slog to read.

Very good app !. Comprehensive and easy to navigate.

Helpful. Barron's is the most helpful business magazine I have ever read!

Great!. One of the best iPad apps out there. Must be a subscriber to take advantage of great articles and features.

Dark mode feature. Dark mode please

latest update jan 22 2020 show blank home screen. latest update jan 22 2020 show blank home screen

It's Very Well Done. Now this is the kind of thing I bought the iPad for. Elegant and simple. Price? Here's where the grin usually turns into a grimace with iPad publications - but not here. The weekly sub is priced about the same as a good cup of coffee.

Unprofessional app. Unusually I don’t leave the review, but this app really hurts my feelings, I paid for content, but cannot even login with this app in my iPhone, and numerous crashes make user experience so bad, even make me to unsubscribe the Barron

Much better. Long overdue updates make it much better now

Stock Picks. I enjoy reading your stock recommendations.

Too many crashes. I like the content and have nothing against those. I’m just writing in regards to the app. The app crashes for me 1 out of 3 times. Once it crashes, it starts continuously crashing every time I try opening it again.

Decent app. Review update: I am surprised nothing has been done to fix the poor readability of the font and the limited text size options. The more I read issues displayed in this font the more irritating it becomes. Original review: Decent app for subscribers. Display needs some more thought. The WSJ app works better. Type size selection is odd. Medium is too small, large too big. Font is also less clear than most other apps, including the WSJ.

👉 Are you looking for an Adsense alternative advertising platform?

Adsterra is the most preferred ad network for those looking for an alternative to AdSense. Adsterra is the ideal choice for new sites with low daily traffic. In order to advertise on the site in Adsterra, like other ad networks, a certain traffic limit, domain age, etc. is required. There are no strict rules. Sign up!

Stock Watchlist. The stock watchlist is inconsistent when I am trying to add ticker symbols. At times, I attempt to add a ticker symbol and all you get is “unable to create try again later” or no ticker symbols show up regardless of what company I enter into the field “no market data results”. Please fix this as it happens on both my iPad and iPhone X.

Fraudulent Chrages. I cancelled my subscription. Confirmed I would not be charged again as I cancelled before the subscription expired. Next month I was charged more than double. Called, said they opened up a new subscription and will cancel it but only refund 70% of the money they took. I asked for a supervisor and they put me on a long hold and said the last supervisor just left…. Requested a call back.

Good app, don’t get newspaper delivery. Love the app. But come to find out my neighbor was getting my newspaper for a year. I was in contact with customer service about it and got no where with that. Oh well. I’ll continue with the free news for this one now

App is garbage. I’ve been a Barron’s reader for 20 years, but this app is so glitchy and annoying that I am going to cancel. The app malfunctions all the time - you can’t read an article without video pop ups literally popping up every 30 seconds, even though you never clicked on them. It will happen 10 to 15 times during a short article. I’ve contacted them many times and they have never responded.

Planned to subscribe until.... I filtered the App Store reviews from most recent to find just how horrible the ratings for the current App are. Evidently the App used to have potential but is failing now with an abundance of ads and poor performance. Also noticed, the App did not offer the same, or as good of, subscription incentives as one could get from Barrons outside of the App.

Subscription Not Available for Macs?. App Store version of Barron’s subscription is for iPhones/iPads but does not seem to allow access to same articles via computer. However the competing Barron’s digital subscription offered on their website allows all devices. Therefore the App Store version is limited and IMHO, unfair and less than forthcoming. Articles are excellent however.

Good App and even better investment information. I like the way the app loads and updates quickly. Articles and in depth and timely. I would highly recommend the Barron's app even better than the paper that only arrives once a week.

Ads. Same ad pops up multiple times while reading a single article. Bet I’ve had to X out of this ad hundreds of times the last few weeks. Making it very hard to use this app. Guess I should go back to the paper version - wasting paper and reading Monday when it finally arrives in the mail... or just cancel and go elsewhere for news

Not great. The Barrons app is definitely several years behind the market in terms of app quality. It frequently has trouble connecting and often will glitch out and close while I’m in the middle of an article. If it has trouble connecting, it won’t show any content.

Auto plays video ads on every page. The recent update added a “feature” that now plays video ads on every page of the app. It’s so incredibly annoying that I’ve stopped using the app and log directly into their site with a browser. Same content without the harrassment.

Deceptive billing. Signed up for a 1 year membership for $50. Little did I realize that they would start billing me after that $30 a month. When I finally realized after several months, they would not budge. Terrible customer service and deceptive billing practices. I will never subscribe again.

Useless clunky app. This app is or irritating to use. No sharing features. Saving articles is completely unreliable. And oh the slow loading ads. Don’t get me started on those. People have been complaining about this app for well over a year and it never gets better. They’ve dug their heels in folks. This is the app they want to proved us so don’t bother. Just read the print version.

Login issues. The app keeps making me log in every time I try to use it. Ridiculous. This App is the only way I read this publication, and this is so annoying that I will have to cancel my subscription if it is not fixed.

Barron's mobile app is legit. I am a new subscriber to Barron's and was hesitant to want to pay for info I can look up myself but after reading and using the Mobile app i have to say it's more than worth it meets up to every aspect ... 🤓

Direction. I have made a great deal of money trading Barron’s recommendations. If they are long on a stock I short it and if Barron’s is negative on a security I go Long. It has been a wining strategy for several years. A tremendous resource.

5 star, but still could be better. Would be great if the app had more of the website's data and functionality

Frequent Failures. Application dies on occasion. Pages reload automatically for no reason and you lose your spot. Advertising is intrusive, especially considering that we're paying for a subscription. I just turn off network connection to not be bothered by ads but then you lose stock quotes, etc.

Annoying video ads. Was a good app until the last release. Annoying video apps constantly pop up with the sound enabled so you have to constantly mute the ad. To make things even worse it’s the same as over and over. I basically have to hit the mute button 4 to 5 times in every article I read.

Images flickers and App hangs. Got Barron’s IOS app on my iPad couple of weeks back. Image that show up in the dashboard and articles flicker at different rates. This is prominent when scrolling. And I had the App freeze on me, not responding to any of the actions when reading one of the articles off of the dashboard. Had to restart to get back into.

Doesn’t Work. The app constantly prompts you to log in. Upon doing so, if you navigate back to the subscriber only article, you are prevented from viewing it unless you are logged in! The figure in the upper right corner shows you are logged in even as you get the same message that the article is for subscribers only! Useless. Will be canceling my subscription.

Barron’s App Improvement needed desperately. Research and rating of individual security is hard to reach. I have to try several steps and can get to on Desk Top computer.

Fix the stupid ads. Can you fix the ads - it’s really annoying that your ads start playing music when the phone is in silent mode. Turning the sound off doesn’t work as the music starts playing again when you scroll down the article or start reading the new one. Please fix as it’s extremely annoying

Poor Interface. Barron’s has a poor interface when you compare it to it’s company family peers the Wall Street Journal. You can’t even take a close up at the cover of the weekly print edition. I’m sure most subscribers would agree this interface can be greatly improved.

Total fail. 1. Cannot read the magazine in the same order as the printed magazine! 2. Content very often fails to load, making it impossible to read the whole magazine. It should download the entire contents in the beginning, so that it’s actually possible to read it offline! 3. I hate the scrolling down to read!!! Let it scroll to the right like reading on a Kindle.

Pop up... pop up ..pop up .. forget it. The app is brutal. You can’t go 1 minute without a 30 second pop up add interrupting your paid subscription. This is in addition to the steady flow of adds in the article that are all to easy to tap as you scroll. I could del with those. However Barrons is by no means cheap and the pop up adds are honestly the worst I have seen in a paid subscription app. Just plain terrible. Do NOT recommend.

I left. Sort by date and come to your own conclusion as to what Barron’s is rated. 4.6 stars looks like wishful thinking. After over 50 years subscribing to Barrons, I cancelled my subscription. Following Murdoch's purchase, the better writers left. The current articles just aren't well written or very insightful. Much like its sister publications the Sun or NY Post. All expected with the change of ownership.

Requires log in too often. Recently, the app prompts me to daily log in or restore subscription. Restore subscription never seems to work so now I must log in daily. For years, this was not a problem. Please fix the bug and persist logged in state correctly.

Love the content but the iPad app is unusable. The content is fantastic but the iPad app is frankly atrocious. It is quite annoying to deal with constant flashing by the photos and the tickers being broken. The app will constantly remind you the watch list won’t load. I love the content but this app is garbage. I actually just read the magazine via Google Chrome on their site.

Links and notifications will not open in the app!. The app displays notifications on my phone Home Screen. When I click on these, it takes me to the browser (Safari) and asks me to subscribe! There is not even a button to login. This should be easy enough to fix for such a large organization.

Some contents not accessible after a recent update. I am a subscriber and I can read the magazine. However when reading news articles it keeps asking me to login. Previously after relogin I could read the articles again but now it does not let me. Update the app does not help. Please fix it ASAP

Barron's app is awful. Tried to log-in the app several times and received a message that said could not activate subscription because of server issues...I will solve the issue by canceling!

Does the job; Could be so much better. The app has improved over time but could be better organized and more aesthetically pleasing. It's sister WSJ app has benefited from periodic user interface tweaks whereas the Barron's app seems to play second fiddle. Given what the subscription costs, I expect more. Dow Jones & Co....please step up this apps game!

Borderline unusable. The app is borderline unusable due to the incredibly obtrusive ads and video ads. The main content jumps around unpredictably on the screen when scrolling as a result of all the ads loading. For a paid publication, this is incredibly disappointing. I won’t bother renewing after my subscription ends.

Watchlists. This is an excellent app, that is clean and organized; however, my absolute favorite feature of the application, 'Add a Watchlist', has been horrible. The only thing you get to watch is the app crash. As a customer, I would be much more satisfied if the Watchlists worked consistently, and successfully. Beyond that, the app is excellent, as is the quality of content.

So many ads!. And if you accidentally swipe over one of the half screen sized ads, it takes you to another full page ad where then you have to go back a page and find where you were in the article. I actually like the content from Barrons and wouldn’t mind paying the subscription, but the pervasive ads are too annoying to deal with. 👎

Horrible: audio advertisements on paid print content. Barrons Texh ad team: are you idiots? Your readers are reading and commonly multi tasking on phones while reading the paid for content. You have just killed the ability to read Barrons on a phone while doing anything else (conference calls, meetings, etc.) by having audio adds pop up. There is no ability to disable this feature. Turn it off or lose customers. You clearly don’t understand your customer base by enabling audio adds over text content. Fix it or lose customers…

Latest update buggy. The latest app is buggy as it won’t pull most recent news. I opened app today and showing me real time news as of Thursday. I forced closed the app and restarted the app and no luck. Never had this issue before but now it happens frequently.

This app crashes all the time. I figured a company this large would be able to stabilize the app, but it crashes on my iPad constantly, although it does have you practice speed reading to see how far you can get in an article before the crash. The the paper hate the app!

Just the right weekly digest. and details when needed. I love the magazine and use it to teach my 16 year old on financial management. He is starting to show good grasp as he says Barron’s is enjoyable in terms of writing style. Keep it up!

Won’t work. I subscribed and the app still won’t recognize it. I was supposed to get a month free but I was charged within 10 minutes but IRP won’t let me read anything. TERRIBLE.

Average app. Nothing special, neither in a good way nor in a bad way. Could you please get rid off those huge spaces in between paragraphs? Articles look like an elementary school textbook. It’s even worse on iPad. A 1-sentence long paragraph, huge gap, then a 2-sentence long paragraph, another huge gap...

Home screen no longer works. Update: Seems to be working now. Original: Home screen is blank, so there is no top stories or event news. Real disappointment...

Good content packaged in a subpar app. I recently subscribed to Barron’s. I like the articles and insights, but the app falls short. The design feels dated. Sometimes Ike’s the articles do not loadWhen I try to search tickets or build a watch list, the app frequently crashes. I hope DJ updates the app to fix the issues and give it a facelift.

You Screwed Up What Was Working Fine. The last update turned this from two thumbs up to one thumb down. Why, why why! Stop messing with stuff that works! Now it looks like any other junky web page... vertical scrolling, crummy layout. Bah! I want so badly to revert to the old app, right now... It was so good before. I should have taken the black icon as a clue to stay away!

Barrons App is Complete Garbage. App does not work despite repeated calls and correspondence with customer service. Furthermore, they show no interest in helping a customer who has been a subscriber for decades. Problems started after they double charged me and I requested a partial refund. Since then, no on-line access works even though I have a valid subscription. A once reliable publication rips people off with no apologies.

Enjoy the app, no Evernote support. Everything else about the app is great, but no way to save articles via Evernote, or even to open the app in Safari. So, when I read Barrons, I now have to also open the web version on my iPad so that I can save articles if I need to. Somewhat of a pain.

Ads are really annoying. The app never had pop-up ads before but in the last few days they have implemented them. While you are scrolling they pop up and take over the entire screen forcing you to close them. It isn’t just once but multiple times an article. It really derails your ability to effectively read. I am really disappointed because the writing is really good.

First line of business. Saturday morning's first line of business is reviewing Barron's top stories. Great preparation over each weekend to begin a new week of investing with innovative ideas. Great insight that prompts investment decisions. Jim Cracchiolo, Grew up with Alan Abelson and have been a fan ever since.

Terrible ads. Generally good news content, but the ads in this app are ridiculous. 1) a subscription to Barron’s is pricey, I think it’s insane for there to be an ad after every paragraph 2) each ad pauses my Apple Music and it’s frustrating to need to change screens to turn on my music again. Is there another way to get revenue? Can you take money from I-banks and hedge funds to pump their stock picks, like CNBC does?
