Disappointed. This app is awesome when it comes to editing, adding music, etc. really. It’s amazing. The reason I’ve given this app two stars is because, it was a waste of time. I’ve tried to save my video a million times. Only for it to say “oh no! Retry.” I assumed maybe I didn’t have enough room. I deleted the pictures off my phone. & my whole video was gone when I came back to the app. I blamed myself for just not thinking. Today, I retried. I remade the whole video. Tried to save. Still “oh no! Retry!” This time I deleted a couple apps. It was gonna let me save. Sooooooooo, I hit SAVE VIDEO. it “saved” except I can’t find it on my phone anywhere. I go back, it says I need to subscribe. I’m thinking “screw it. This is important, so I’ll do it.” This time I hit SHARE VIDEO. It gave me another option through that to save to my phone. I tried again. NOPE. “OH NO! Retry!” I shortened the video, deleted numerous things. Still NO luck. I thought maybe the video saved to the app. So, as a last resort, I deleted the pictures I used from my phone. AND NOW THE WHOLE VIDEO (that was “saved”) IS COMPLETELY GONE. Absolutely a WASTE of time. I loved everything about this app & loved loved loved the video I made so much. Too bad I can share my video with who it was intended for.

Get capcut instead. Ok, so I’ve resorted to using my computer to edit. But if you want to use mobile to edit you should use capcut, capcut is 100% free and you can buy a subscription, but the subscription only gives you more effects. While splice pro gives you more effects, AND PLASTERS 200 GIANT WATERMARKS ON YOUR SCREEN AFTER YOU PUT WORK INTO THE EDIT! I spent hours working on a project, and sadly after I finished I realized It was covered in a trillion splice watermarks. This is one of those apps that is completely unusable unless you give them money. Also, capcut has free templetes for business, memes, cool edits, sad edits, literally whatever you want. The templates let you take a video or some photos and it will edit them with the edit the template is for, so you dont have to work. Oh also may I mention, THERE ISNT A WATERMARK! There is a watermark but they keep it small in the corner and also for some reason it doesnt even export the video with the watermark. Get a different software if ur on mobile, if not get something like premier pro(not free) or something like davinci resolve(free) if there is a software that makes the watermark completely ruin your videos, that is how you know they are money hogs. So DONT GET SPLICE. Ps: I would do 1 star but the editing is kinda good, its still absolute buttcheeks compared to every other software though. Like unity compared to scratch. -tony

Would be Amazing if….. First and foremost I love the app, and have been using it for 3 years. I like that they are constantly making improvements to the functionality, and with that I understand there will be some bugs. But there’s a difference between a few bugs and the horrendously slow upload times. Here are the issues that really really need to be addressed with all hands on deck. The upload times for a video either takes 10 seconds, or five minutes on a 1 minute video. We’re not talking full length feature film here. Also, the captions are horribly unusable. Doesn’t work most the time. I feel like you need a trigonometry degree just to understand the formula on how to use it, but I haven’t gotten them to work in a year. One more thing, and it’s not a complaint, have you guys thought about giving us the ability to change the color of the text on the text animations? Aside from that, it’s an amazing app. There isn’t a video editing tool out there that has the control that you guys offer so it’s not all bad but the uploads in the captions are a huge issue that if corrected, you’d get 10 stars not 5. I do like the direction they’re headed with all new features and what not. Now I see a new update just came out, who knows, I hope some of these issues have been addressed. I’ll change my review once they are. Thank you.

Good base but much more potential. It would be amazing if you could highlight multiple clips/ sound clips at a time because as it stands if you want to move multiple clips and keep them in the same order, you face the tedious task of moving them one by one, and on top of that you have to try and synch everything with the music again. Right now the best way to do this is to save the whole project, and then create a new project so all of the clips are together already as one video. Another complaint is the sound effects library. It would be great if you were able to import sounds or if they partnered with and app or website with an array of sounds to use. Another thing that is hard to get around is doing text effects and making text/ pictures move during the video. Also it would be cool if they added more effects or added away you could import effects (anime speed lines and such). But overall this app is fun to use and it doesn’t take long to learn at all, if you get a little creative the aforementioned problems won’t cause you too much grief.

Great features especially to animate photos except for music. I especially liked using the Ken Burns effect on still photos which worked much, much better - is far more versatile - and easier than its counterpart in iMovie. It’s relatively also easy to splice film clips together, too. Biggest complaint with upgrades made since summer 2019 is the loss of some of the holiday music (I had a hard time doing holiday video last Christmas) and other suitable music to use, and the loss of the feature which let you splice the free music together easily with fade-out options available at beginning and end. Also, most music supplied is too short (less than a minute) - my videos typically are 1-1/2 to 2-3/4 minutes in length. I now rarely use Splice’s music and have to import video clips I do here into iMovie or some other program to finish. Other complaint is not having special features with how text or titles displays such as the ability to have letters dropping down, or fading in and out, etc., like text features available on iMovie. However, I do like the colored text/type choices which can make text much easier to read on bright backgrounds. I also like the ease in selecting aspect ratio although it is limited to only 3 choices. Overall this is a nice, fairly easy to use editing package. I use it the most for animating static photos so they zoom in or out, move from side to side or even - on rare occasion - rotate, which is especially cool if done right.

Not worth the money. The app functions great out of all the ones of used, easy to learn and if you are struggling the tutorials are great. The free version of the app is all you need to make a video and learn how to create something unique. Even then the app usually crashes on me when trying to load the video created so as great as the app is w/ it’s easy learning curve and functionality the way they want to force you into paying for it is just overkill. If we like the product we most likely will purchase it or return to use it again and again. It bothers me that it was you as a subscriber so they get month from you monthly instead of a one time purchase. Even w/ the negatives I’ve listed I’ll rate it a 5 purely off the fact the the user interface is pretty much perfect on a mobile device. The only thing I would change is the cost and make it a one time Payment. The app should get support and I’m glad there is a free version but even w/ Roth the free version you can never send or finish a video without purchase

Just Advertising. I had Splice on my phone and remember being able to edit videos without needing a subscription. However, when I downloaded it again, it would let me edit any videos or even get to the editing screen without first bringing me to the subscription offer. If I clicked out of it, it would take me back to the video selection and I wouldn’t get anywhere. It wasn’t like I chose premium/subscription exclusive features or settings that could cause me to get the pop up. The app was physically unserviceable entirely. I don’t have a need for the benefits of the subscription because I don’t edit videos unless to remove certain parts of a clip or maybe screen recording. It’s fine to have pop ups. I don’t care about them. But if I’m literally unable to even access the main purpose of the app without a subscription, you’d be better off asking for money up-front or mentioning that the app is meant to solely be subscription based. The experience was very annoying to say the least and I hope it’s something that’s dealt with. The user interface is not hard to comprehend and is suitable for smaller purposes but the main reason I’m making this review, is because other parts of the app need adjustment and overview.

Nearly perfect video editor!. This is a pretty amazing professional video editing app that has many of the features that you would expect from a professional video editing app! Even better, the app is so intuitive and so easy to use that you will feel like you are an expert of this app within just a few minutes of using it! It’s truly amazing! There is simply no comparison between this app and Apple’s iMovie. However, it could use a few small improvements, including more responsive technical support. We sent a few emails to technical support 4 or 5 days ago, and still haven’t heard back from them yet. Furthermore, the program makes some things more difficult than they need to be — for example, when you insert text onto a video clip, it ALWAYS makes the length of the text the ENTIRE LENGTH OF YOUR VIDEO CLIP with no quick way to change it. Other video editing apps insert text at just 5 seconds, and then you can quickly change it from there. There is also no way to pull the audio from a video clip and just use that audio as a narration track for other video clips. We also have continual difficulty trying to trim the end of a video clip by dragging the end of the video — this app often things that we are trying to MOVE the video clip. (We end up splitting and deleting to prevent this from happening.) Hopefully the team behind this app is listening and will continue to improve this app! It’s already an excellent app! :)

Anonymous. I loved using this app. I was spending a few hours on editing a video, and I loved the selection of tools. It was very easy to use. I definitely recommend it to beginners who want to edit. Although a subscription is needed for a few features. When I went to export the video, turns out you have to pay for a subscription to be able to export it. Now, I get that’s how they make money. But it was very frustrating, that other apps will allow you to with a watermark and a couple of adds. When I went to screen record the video, they put watermarks. Which I would be totally fine with. IF IT WASNT THREE OF THEM. BLOCKING 1/3 OF THE SCREEN. It’s also very inconvenient that they make any text in that area almost impossible to see. Now again, I completely understand the trying to promote and make money. I would suggest, like I said earlier, to allow non subscribers to export videos With an add and watermark. And I would say the best watermark is one, that is NOT obstructing the entirety of the video. Maybe one big one in the middle. That is a bit more transparent then the ones you guys have now. Thank you so much for reading this. And for making a dope app.

The tiniest bug literally makes the app unusable.. Compared to all the other editing apps on the market for IPhones, this one was seemingly the best editing app BY FAR in terms of subscription pricing and efficiency. The app never crashed, the layout is very simple to understand, and it’s easy to get the hang of...but there’s a bug that literally made me go back to my original review and lower the amount of stars I gave it from 5 to 2. I’ve only been using this app for a couple of hours and I began to edit pretty large media files on it. Everything was going perfectly well and I was happy, but I soon realized that what I thought was my mistake was a bigger problem than it appeared to be. Whenever I add an audio clip over a video clip, the audio clip just remains at 100% volume no matter what I do and it’s so frustrating because there’s no reason why it should be doing that. I’ve checked that I lowered the volume, I’ve deleted the audio clip and replaced it, and still the audio was at 100% blasting volume, completely ruining hours of hard work. I can’t add in background music because of it. It’s so annoying because I spent so much time perfecting every little detail of the video but when I went to add in music or sound, there was nothing I could do. It’s very disappointing because this app is great and I really like it, but I’m definitely going to cancel my subscription after I finish writing this review.

Thank you, Splice!. I’ve had Splice for three years, and I can say with certainty that this is an amazing movie/video making app. It is so easy to choose the pictures and videos you want and arrange them. There are a good number of transitions as well, and if you choose to use Ken Burns on your pictures, you can select the start and finish positions. I also enjoy the ability to trim videos in the app instead of having to trim them in Photos. You can also apply filters to videos and pictures in the app, as well as add text. The sleek design and user-friendliness only add to the appeal. But of course, easily one of the best things about Splice is the audio options. To start, there is a HUGE selection of music and the option to fade in and out. You can play as many tracks at a time as you want and precisely edit how long you want the music to play. On top of this, you can also record audio for voiceovers and narration, which is great for making stop-motion movies. I have used Splice on multiple projects and it has yet to disappoint me. The best part is that it is FREE! I know that there is an extension, but even without it, this app is truly amazing. Thank you, Splice!

Great app but only works for those who pay membership. So I’ve been using this app since 2016. I started video editing as a hobby after a school assignment. After that, I used splice daily to edit the videos I recorded of myself playing a variety of mobile games and to make family videos. Unfortunately, as years go by, even though Splice has acquired some very cool new features, I can now barely use it without paying something. Today I entered the app and found out that the crop and adjust features are now part of the app’s membership package. This was one of the things I liked most about Splice, that I could edit my videos using these features without having to pay. It’s still a great app though, but people like me, that can’t pay a membership, are continuously being affected by this nonstop economic interest that results in forcing us to stop doing what we love, which is video editing, and search for another and more suitable video editing app that doesn’t exists for free. Video editing apps shouldn’t be only for people that look forward to make money through them. There should also be apps for people that are just looking for a way to do what they like and feel satisfied with their own work. Splice is a great, very complete video editing app, but it is not for everyone apparently.

I’m confused why I have to pay to export a video-. Don’t get me wrong! This app has been super useful, and has be easy to use, but when I wanted to take my work out of the app and move it over I have to pay to do that. I understand it for all the other special features, but why to export it? I would screen record it but then the watermark is smack dab in the middle of the video 3 times all over the screen! I get the reson for the watermark but now I’m stuck with something I’m proud of and can’t move it anywhere! Not even to my photo library! All those hours of hard work, with all respect in my heart I don’t want to pay to export it. I’ll give the app credit for when I use it in my credits of a series I’m doing. And I know there’s a 7 free day trial… but how in the world am I able to work In 7 days just to be told I have to pay. Maybe I’m being over dermatic and I apologize. But seriously besides that the app is wonderful- easy to understand and use which I deeply appreciate- I was originally using iMovie because it was free and “easy” to use but it deleted all my work! So I went over to this app! It’s great to practice and use for long term projects! Definitely recommend.

Splice please help me. Hi, I am Owen Walker and I am a young filmmaker. I'm 12 years old, and work hard on making movies. I like splice because it's fun and easy to use, but I'm having trouble with it. Sometimes when I edit it kicks me out of it, but That's not my main concern. As a filmmaker I never get around to making full movies so I kind of just make videos, But I kind a got real into a movie that's almost an hour long. I edited the entire movie with splice. But one day splice wouldn't let me in. It let me in the other projects but it didn't let me into that one movie, the only movie that I cared about. The movie is called secret kill, and I've been working on it and editing it and filming it for over a year. I've tried restarting my phone, but nothing works. It will kick me out 2 ways. One of the ways when it all started, it would load in now to get into it but then every time I got into it it kicked me out. And the other scenario is it would all the way get to loading it but at the last little area of the S it wouldn't load it would just stay there for hours and it never got there. In one day when it did get there, it just kicked me out of the app again. It makes me very stressed out because I don't wanna lose a project that I put a lot of my time into. Anytime I would just be having a normal day, I wanted to film because that's all I cared about. Please help.

Great for any level. I have zero knowledge behind video editing, other than trying to find a user friendly app. I’ve used this app on and off for a long time and recently “came back” after I noticed a lot of updates that made it even more user friendly. It is great for super simple editing as well as getting down and fancy with it. One gripe: One thing that does make me still look around for other options is that - part of why I use this app is to transcribe(text) paranormal EVP’s onto the video for the audience. Having to pull the text all the way from the beginning and from the ending - all the way to where I need that text for that couple of seconds takes longer than reviewing the EVP’s themselves. This is a tedious process that really seems like there would be an easier way to put the text where I need it, and be able to move along. It really is a slllooowwwwwwwwww process and this is the part I actually hate (yes, hate; I’m sorry...) about doing it. Other than that I really do love using this app. I just work through that annoying process, because I love the app.

Back to its former glory. This is a follow up on my last review: This app is now the best video editing app in the App Store with a well deserved 5 stars. Here’s why: I am so happy that the new version brought back the tools that had been removed and even added more features including: Transitions such as Fade to black, Blur, Crossfade, Zoom In, zoom out, etc. Default settings controls are back: Picture duration, transition duration, aspect ratio, background color and music can now be set all at once (as opposed to doing one by one). You can adjust the sound in the videos for instance: you could lower or mute the volume in a video if you don’t want it to interfere with the background music. Perhaps my favorite new tool that has been added is that you are now able to extract the audio of a video and move it around, this is very helpful when you want to add picture overlays over video without messing up the sound sequence. I love the simplicity of the apps interface and the layout of editing tools is very easy to use. I’d like to thank the developers for providing such a great useful app for free for creators like me.

Amazing but with frustrating glitches. I’ve been using this app for almost a year now and I absolutely love everything I’m able to do with it! I’ve searched through several other video making apps and this one is easily my personal favorite. Unfortunately, after I updated it last night, numerous bugs have appeared and have made it almost impossible to do anything. It’s a 50/50 chance whether or not I’ll get to hear the audio clips, scrolling through and adjusting the length of clips and pictures is extremely jerky, my device overheats to near burning within minutes and shuts down the app, and all the audio clips from my previous videos have been deleted after the update. I don’t know if it’s on my end or a major bug in the new coding, but it’s extremely frustrating to work with and I have to give up on the videos I was working on as I can’t actually get anything done. I don’t want to delete the app because it’s always been so amazing to work with but I really hope whatever went wrong gets fixed soon or I won’t be able to do anything with it anymore.

What’s not to love with Splice?. Splice is so incredibly cool. As a long time TV news professional, working with top editors at network level, and in stations in major markets, I have an immense appreciation for editing, which creates the magic of video. I have and do use Final Cut Pro X, v.2. But when shooting video on my iPhone I prefer the simplicity and speed with which I can get video edited and online. Clean, quick, solid stuff. When I first wrote about Splice months ago, I wanted more features, but doubted single timeline editing could provide it. Now Splice has cleverly created other ways for me to use sound from one bit of video with the natural sound that is tied to the main video I’m editing. Until recently, I couldn’t separate video and sound, but in fact I now can by lifting sound and moving it around beneath another. This sounds more complex than it actually is. Overall, Splice is simply brilliant. And really, I learned quickly how to use it, intuitively. Just by trying it. Now there are tons of tutorials and it’s easier than ever. With continued development I think Splice could replace more complex editing systems. TV news is going to love it. -Don Knapp

Sis has glowed up! Easy, free, and fun to use!. This new and improved update/ version of splice is so much better! It’s way different from the last version but in a good way. I’m still trying to get used to it but so far is a BIG, FAT, thumbs 👍🏼 up 👆🏼. And I really like the layout out of it. The only thing is that the way you add text is kinda messed up. Whenever I try to add text or a title it allways adds a extra little clip to the front and I can’t find a way to remove it. But overall, this app is really good. I really recommend this app and personally I think it the best mobile editing app out there. Believe me, I’ve basically tried all the editing apps there is and all of them haven’t really “clicked” for me I guess. this one is really easy to use and always has been. Unlike the other editing apps, this app doesn’t need you to put any information of yours like your email and snap chat or stuff like that. Some of the apps I have tried before in the past have only let you use it unless you had like a snap chat or something and that’s really annoying!!! Like I have to get an app to use another app???? But anyways, I really like this app.

3 stars because it used to be so great / 5 because it’s perfect now. Updating this review because all the former issues were fixed. Great app, love it! Former review: The old version of splice was perfect, this new one is expensive, glitchy and minimalist to a fault. Here’s the glitch I encountered: I tried creating a video on my husband’s phone and it never would export, I kept getting a notice saying “uh oh! Something went wrong! Try again?” And after 3-4 tries I gave up. so I had to transfer all the videos to my phone and remake it and finally it exported. The lack of buttons and options is actually very confusing. It looks sharp but isn’t super functional. As to the expense, $104 a year is kind of pricy and there aren’t lower levels for those of us who use the app less often than once a week. It was a great app before the update and I would have been willing to pay a lower usage tier to continue to access it. It’s probably still a great app if you make videos professionally several times a day, but if you’re just an average person making like 1-3 videos a month or less, this app is no longer for you (or me).

Yo I hope you guys read this. Ok so I’ve been trying to find an app to make some funny memes for AGES all of them either require some ridiculously over expensive trial to use or give you the most bare-bones useless amount of features-pretty much forcing you to upgrade if you actually want to do anything. When I stumbled onto splice I was shocked-what? I can put MORE THAN ONE LAYER TOGETHER WITHOUT UPGRADING? I CAN PUT MUSIC IN WITHOUT PAYING?! I CAN IMPORT FILES AND TEXT IS ACTUALLY EASY TO USE AND MOVE! NO! I CAN PUT IN BACKGROUNDS AND CHANGE FONTS! You guys are great. I see there’s a trial for video editing, which is paid for more features-but I’m fine with that-thank you guys for bringing an amazing editing app to the store without locking 99% behind a paywall-keep on doing you-loving the app EDIT: one thing I have noticed when using the app is that even for pictures that have had their background removed-it still shows when putting the picture into a video, which is annoying- there should be an easy way to remove the background for images you are adding on top of another layer

Hands Down The Best Video Editing App for IPhone. I have the subscription version and originally intended to use it for a couple of weeks and go back to lugging my laptop for edits but ended up sticking with it. There are no gimmick features with this app. All the features work to the extent you expect from a professional desktop app yet it’s still intuitive and fast to use. I love that you can control the output quality, and now that they have added layers and masking, the possibilities have multiplied. I also see they announced the upcoming release of a key frames feature which will, again, multiply the possibilities. The pre-set transitions are also notably better than I have found in most apps. The only thing that frustrates me at the moment is that the effects you layer over your video (essentially dynamic filters) and masks, don’t benefit from allowing you to fade those effects in or out so you really have to hide the start and finish in a transition. However, It sounds like the key frames feature might help solve that if it can be applied to the top layer. Don’t know how I lived without this app!

Good for doing anything u wanna do. I’ve been using this for everything from short memes to long YT videos. It also has a whole lot of features including (for free) no watermark, sound effects, cutting and deleting parts of text you don’t want, text to put into the video, voice overs, volume, speed, filters, different s saturation and sharpness stuff like that, cropping, flipping the video or image left right up or down, getting a background (not sure what this does), switching media from one video to a different one or duplicating anything that’s already there. (For premium) animation, effects, and music which can be from iTunes or imported. But if u don’t want to pay for the music if you have a second device just play music and hit the voiceover button to record the music. Also right now the app closes but saves most of what you did. But anyway that’s my review of this app I think it’s great and u should use it. If you’re looking for an example of the editing u can go to my channel on YT called “Harry Pokemon” I would appreciate it if u checked it out :).

Really great for quickly cutting videos. Yeah I love this app. I do my heavy video editing/production on FCPX on the Mac. But when I just need/want to cut a video fast that doesn’t require a ton of production, Splice has become my go-to. It’s very easy to use, very intuitive, and the features are dang near perfect. I needed something better for the quick cuts than iMovie for iPhone as it doesn’t do the things that Splice does. Splice operates quickly and exports quickly, which is important. I like the audio features - particularly what you can do with the audio track of video with volume, fades, etc… and I like how easy it is to add audio and music from Apple Music (if you purchase a track from iTunes). The preset project sizes are great. This app really excels and positions itself well for social media video creation. I haven’t used all the features, so I can’t really give feedback on what I’d change. So far, it does everything I need it to. Most importantly, I allows me to create quickly and doesn’t bottleneck creativity trying to learn the app. VERY GOOD!! Thanks, Splice!

Doesn’t Export!!. This is the worst app in existence. My video that’s been two years in the making and almost 40 mins long keeps getting export errors. At first upon googling the error, a possible fix is to remove all the audio and reupload. Then I read that videos in the app that are in the cloud will also cause export errors and that I’d have to redownload them all. Redownload 40 mins and 4 years worth of video clips?! When you open the app, it takes several minutes for the app to download the clips from the cloud so why on earth can’t it export after it finishes loading? I also experienced the video freezing in the middle of the video while the audio remained playing. This was particularly frustrating when I was left to screen record the video after numerous export attempts. Once I finally got the video to play straight through for a decent screen record, I reploaded that to the app in hopes I can now crop the video to screen size and export with brand new videos not on the cloud. WRONG! Now I’m getting the error that there isn’t enough storage in my phone when I have well over 30GB available. I normally wouldn’t even bother with a review like this for a phone app, but this video is extremely special and important to me and now it’s just living in this app forever with nowhere to go.

The BEST iPhone video producer ever. I’ve invested 17 years into video production beginning on Sony Vegas while my go to is always Adobe Premier. I’ve never been able to spend much time using Final Cut but that’s just it, they are limiting their reach and that limits the creative content ability on a global basis! Splice has been top tier FIRST CLASS easy to use enabling anyone with extensive or limited experience to build masterpieces! I accidentally paid for a year on a trial and at first I was upset because i hasn’t even had a chance to use it yet. Once I had been charged it coerced my mind to try it now because I didn’t want to pay I think maybe $60 or something maybe $100 I can’t remember but I was happy as ever and I’ll be backing these engineers for life. As long as they don’t support Mark Zuckerberg or Jeff Dean or David Nasser Basset and Department of Defense! Evil those people are and be careful as they will image your drive and replace your drive with their manipulated copy so keep a pixel encryption and close attention on Cloned signals like files out of place and file permissions and best thing is to keep it where they can’t even mess with it after they image it. They will almost always find ways to image it. So the trick is keeping it on lock down after imaging. Practice like that and they toast!

Wow! New Design way More Efficient. The time it took me to create a video is now cut in half. I made a 3 minute video a few days ago using the older version and it took me 8 hours. Tonight I made another 3 minute video and it took me about 4 hours. I use a combination of videos and images. The efficiency of an app is always half my battle. The only issue I had using the new version, which was also an issue with the old version is freezing. In the 4 hours that I was on the app, it froze 3 times. Just a minor annoyance. I usually just close the app and reopen it. It’s pretty good at preserving my work. I’ve never lost edits or a project even when it freezes and I have to close out the app. I also like that I can do a lot of my editing and preview edits in the same window. Adding music and SPX and editing these layers is so much easier now with the slide bar feature. I will update this review later after I’ve used the new version a few more times. For now, this is my primary app because It preserves the full size of my images. Other apps I use are to restrictive with image sizes.

Update ruined the app. Update: More stuff added to the app so it doesn’t work again! I use this app daily (unfortunately) with increased frustration. Don’t waste your money. I’ve used the app for several months now on a daily basis. I never had any issues until I logged in one day and every single video I had done was now saying the images were no longer available. Contacted the developer who immediately tried to place the blame on me saying I deleted the images off my phone. Not the case at all. Turns out I needed to do their update in order to use app. I did this and all video images returned. They shouldn’t be so quick to blame the customer for problems they create. Now, this upgrade destroyed the app. I’ve spent hours on a project only to have my work disappear. I’ve been trying to upload a video multiple times now but when I go to view it in my photos it is not there! I’d contact the developer but I know that they’ll only blame me again for an issue that they created. Again, they updated the app and messed it all up. Again they placed blame on me. I only continue to use the app daily because I paid for the year. Once that year is up I’m dumping it.

Please fix!. I love Splice and everything about it, but there’s a problem with it. Maybe this might be my iPad or something to do with settings but if there’s anything you can do please take action - I was going all well with my animations that took hours to make individually. All of a sudden it said that Splice needed access to my photos (which I gave access to AAAAGEES ago). It said that the footage in my videos needed to be restored because somehow it got deleted but I checked multiple times that the footage I had in the videos was the exact same, and it was in my camera roll for certain. I deleted splice and downloaded it again, hoping it would do something. Now, my animations are gone, I don’t have access to premium features and it is still asking for access to my photos. I went to settings, went to splice but there was no button for ‘allowing access to photos’. This happened to all of my apps. I’m really devastated that this happened to Ibis Paint X because 2 years worth of drawings are gone so I can’t see my progress. I completely understand if this is an issue that you have no control over and if it is just my iPad or setting malfunctioning, but if there’s anything you can do/ anything I could do to solve this, PLEASE let me know! Thank you. (But when this is fixed I will continue using your amazing app!)

Dissatisfied and disappointed. I have been using splice for many years as my main video editing software. I have loved it for so long because it was so easy to use and it was so convenient being on my phone. After the new update, they changed a lot of things that made editing more complicated. But that wasn’t the worst part. After another update, they added a pro version in which you would have to buy in order to use some of the features and worst of all, to even export your projects. You now have to pay weekly to export your projects. I am very disappointed that I won’t be using splice any longer and that I have to find a new video editing software. I am dissatisfied that they went down this path after all those years of being the best and pulling such a wide fan base. Hopefully they undo this so they can go back to being the best editing software and we all can go back to making the projects we love. Edit: you can export now with minimal settings but you can’t even use simple things that are necessary for video editing like transitions without paying for the pro that’s subscription based and not a 1 time purchase. By now I think it’s safe to say after all these years that if you want to edit on your phone, just use CapCut. 👋

Quite Useful. I was scrolling through the App Store looking for a video editor that allowed me to piece together pictures into my own video. When I stumbled across this, I was a bit scared to try it out. Never the less, I downloaded it and gave it a shot. This app had everything I was looking for. I could piece together pictures as I created subtitles and tweaked how long it would be. Not only can photos be put together, but videos as well. You can also add sound effects, background music, and almost whatever noise you need to add that little something to your video. I did come across an issue with the subtitles where they don’t change the length at the same time as the photo or video, so you will have to do that yourself, but that isn’t a huge issue. I do wish the transitions between videos and/or photos were quicker, but overall this is a great app to use. It’s compatible with other editing apps, so if you want different transitions, subtitles or sounds, just download what you have so far to your device and input it into a different app. All in all, if your looking for an app that’ll allow you to do all of the above, I would suggest none other than Splice.

Incredibly disappointing :(. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW. Updating my review now, as I have just seen the response from tech-support. I reached out requesting the refund and offered to provide proof that the account has an actually been used, as I have been billed about 10 minutes into a seven day free trial. Tech-support states that because I had already used the free trial once, (even though it was advertised to me to try again) that The free trial that I was offered is invalid and so the billing is valid. I downloaded Splice a while ago, and made one video, features were nice and it was super easy to navigate as someone who doesn’t video at it ever. I ended up uninstalling because I just didn’t get to use it much, but I recently have been trying to up my REELS content on Instagram, as that is best for the algorithm now.I went ahead and gave another go at all again-it popped up at seven day trial, and I picked the yearly sub as it seemed like the best deal. I’ve spent two or three days messing with it now and really liked the couple videos I made, except I just realized that they billed me the whole $70 or somthing even though I have several days left on my seven day free trial. SUPER SHADY. Canceling i’m trying to figure out how to get a refund now, bummed because I would really like to use this app.

Definitely recommend. I would highly recommend using splice for making videos and clips. I downloaded it and had to tell my friends about it because it worked so well. There was one thing though, several times I would go into the app to make something and after working hard to epics clips together I exited out of the app for only a few minutes and when I came reopened the app and went into my project it said several clips are missing and that clip would be black with an error sign on it. I could easily replace it and it didn’t bother me until once I worked long and took many pictures that I made a splice project with, and right after finishing I deleted the pictures I fully created on another app entirely off my phone then went into the app and it had the several missing clips alert, and all of them were gone. I was too frustrated to recreate all of them. This happened twice each time on a different device. Though this was frustrating I have made various splice project and out of all of them only two were ruined, so I would still recommend splice for your editing app.

Easy and fun to use. It imports my media quickly (even large video files that are over a GB) and exports my finished videos just as fast, even when I choose 4K definition. I love the option to quickly export in different quality sizes and how it shows pretty accurate estimates of the final file size, as I often need several copies of my videos to fit the size limits of various sites I post on. The interface is very user friendly and there is an awesome array of effects, transitions, filters, etc. that has allowed me to make some pretty stellar music videos that others really enjoy. I’m happy with this app! I did experience one bug however. When I was doing some pretty meticulous audio clip editing for my one video, I had a glitch where one particular piece of audio kept playing whenever I went to preview/play what I had so far. It would overlay all the other audio even tho I had deleted that clip and when I exported it, it went away. So it only existed in the editing screen. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it did make it a bit annoying to continue editing because I couldn’t hear the actual audio over the bugged audio no matter where I was in the editing process. Only happened once and hasn’t happened again — but wanted to make the developers aware. Thanks for the awesome app!

Includes MUSIC!!!!. So I got in a fight with my husband. I needed a gesture to say “sorry.” I wanted to do something that was easy because I wasn’t that sorry… so I thought it would be really cool to do a video of our life together and pictures set to music. I looked up a few of the apps in my App Store download it about six of them that were free (including this one). I figured I would go into each one of them after they were through downloading and see which one would be the easiest to use so I could throw something together…Well three of them made me put in my credit card information to open the app and wanted me to subscribe… Guess what, that’s not free!! But I finally opened SPLICE and it was AWESOME! It had songs, literally thousands, to choose from and the songs were free!!! It was so easy to understand how to do it and it had everything you could want as far as effects and editing capabilities…The only complaint I have is that while putting together my video and watching the pictures of me and my husband float across the screen, to music I absolutely loved, I started feeling more sorry. Thank goodness that even though this was an easy project to do it looks like it took a long time and a lot of effort, so It will convey the appropriate amount of “sorry.” GET THIS APP!!!!!!!

Absolutely great aside for a couple of minor inconveniences!. I am absolutely LOVING all of the new features, especially the fact that I can now use the text to make subtitles!! The design is sleek and modern, the view screen is bigger, there are more sound effects, I can crop it down to square size for Instagram, etc. I’m loving it! My only issues thus far have been with editing the music. I’m working on my big ‘ol iPad, yet I nonetheless have a reeeeeeeally hard time finding the hit box for the slide bar that’s supposed to help me “crop” the music. I end up just awkwardly moving it to the side instead of shortening or lengthening the clip, and it gets very frustrating. I had to get out my Apple Pencil in order to get the job done. The other thing I’m struggling with is that, with my projects, I usually work with small music segments. In the most recent one, I’m using only five seconds of the provided music. To do that, I unfortunately have to go aaaaaaaaall the way to the end of the video and drag it down to size little by little. Then again, I’m not sure if that’s because this app was made for bigger videos. Thus far, those are the only things I would change! This app is the greatest video editing app I’ve found up to date. I’ve been using it for about two years now. Thank you so much for providing this app!

Great app. It’s a great app I’ve been looking for something I can make edits for Instagram on that’s free and this is the one it’s amazing I recommend this to anyone who needs something for pictures to video editing cuz it’s great you can use your own music and your own pics and it’s free what else could you want the transition selection is a little small but I don’t mind for how good it turned out I’m gonna recommend this to my sister who also makes edit but ever since I got an iPhone I can’t transfer vids from my laptop so all my edits can’t be posted but this allows me to make save and post easily, edit: I've been using is for over a year now and i must say its my holy grail for editing apps this is the only one i use, i would like if there was more transportations and if u could make the pics or video less the a second long becuz i am still an editer amd some music beats are less then a second long so that would be cool it would be so cool if it had effects like a glitch and like effects kinda like the app crazy video maker 2 those are awesome but i sadly can't use that app

HOLYYYYYY😻😻. I just got this app a couple of hours ago and I rlly want to become a YouTuber and I was looking for apps to edit my videos but iMovie I need to pay for a lot of things and it was just too much. So I was looking for apps and found this......OMG it is the best and I just tried it right now, the music choice is great the transitions are great and the way u can put a filter on ur pictures and right whatever u wanna right and u have a choice of what font u want. I personally might use this a lot it’s a really easy quick way to edit a couple of pictures and turn it into a nice video and I made my first video like 6 min ago and it turned out so good. Everything is so easy to understand and use and that makes this app AMAZING. Anyone who likes to edit!!!, I suggest u get this app it is also free so u don’t have to pay to get this app and I love it already❤️keep it up guys! The only thing I would suggest is if u could put in music with the actually people singing and music that is in trend! But other than that this is a great app and I’m loving it a lot!!! Thank you guys for making this app simple, fun, cool, and quick, with many options (for free) and easy to make a really good video!!

READ THIS BEFORE DOWNLOADING 😤. I was VERY disappointed with this app. And the main reason is that you have to have a subscription for basically everything. You can’t use transitions without a subscription, you can’t use the audio that comes with the app without a subscription, YOU CANT HAVE MORE THAN 2 VIDEOS WITHOUT A SUBSCRIPTION. I tried to use green screen and guess what? I needed a subscription. We as the app users need wiggle room to let our creativity flow. All I can. Make are crappy little videos because I need a subscription for every little thing. This is not a very good app and if you think it’s a good app for all my fellow video creators, guess what? No. I suggest other apps like CapCut. Even the little starter IMovie is better than this app. Sure it’s review is 4.6, but please read this before you waste memory on an app that is not worth it! And if you do download it, I hope you learn a big fat lesson. I don’t want the developer to just say “So sorry for the inconvenience, thank you for leaving review”, or something, don’t say something, actually fix it because some people like me DONT want to pay a subscription, and rubbing a subscription in our faces isn’t going to help either. Please, see this, and fix it. 😡

Love it, one major problem. I love this app. It is so easy and fun to use and I have been using it to make edits to keep for myself and share with my friends. I do not have a Splice Pro (the premium version you need to pay for) because I can’t exactly afford it. The last time I used this app was a few months ago, and I had no problems with it, and it was perfect. Today I decided I wanted to use it again, and made an edit, but then I came across a huge problem. The app doesn’t even let you save the video you made to your photo library unless you have Splice Pro. I tried to navigate this problem by screen recording, but it puts watermarks all over the video, making it really annoying to watch. I am very disappointed with this update to the app, and I understand that the developers need to make money, but the fact that we can’t even save our edits without paying is going too far in my opinion. This just made it so I can’t share the edit with anyone unless I show them in person (or pay the subscription). The subscription is usually around 5 dollars a week or so, and I don’t think I would be willing to pay 20 dollars a month for an app I don’t use that often. To the developers: I would recommend making certain filters and transitions and other things only available to premium members in return for making it so anyone can save their edits. Please consider it, sorry this paragraph is so long.

Good video editing app but can scam you on price. So i was this app in an ad and happen to looking for a video edit app for my new iphone 12 pro. One similar to the default video edit on the galaxy note 10 which i came from. The i phone has no real default editing app. So I decided to give this one a try was kind of skeptical at first because of the seven day trial and the price saying it was $70 a year. Even ran into a glitch at first where it kept crashing inches which is why the four stars. But after resetting the app it’s been fine. The app itself is very similar to most editing apps on PC or mobile and it is very similar to the one on galaxy but has a lot more features. It’s really easy to use actually I tend to use it more than I use my Mac For editing now. Found out though that the company is kind of ripping people off because if you go to the subscriptions in the App Store you can lower the price from $60 to 10 for a year which is kind of a scam and they charge different people a different price and that you have the option to choose in the settings. Right either way it is a very good app and the person must’ve put a lot of effort into it so it is worth some money.

Love this app but…. I use this app all the time and have for several years. I’ve made whole 30 minute sections for documentary movies using my iPhone. It’s complicated and takes multiple steps, but when I’m remote, it’s incredibly useful. I’ll continue using it because it’s easy to use for short pieces but there is so much potential with this I feel like it could be so much more. The biggest feature I wish it had was a 9mm filter to make it look like a more sophisticated film technique. Additional ambiance and stylized elements would be a fantastic addition to the app. There are also some basic editing aspects still missing from the design, things which would take it to a whole new level. I’m so adept in the Splice editing environment, I have found work-around for things like positionable color borders, and micro-blurring pixels. My point is these are basic editing elements and should be a part of an any filmmaking app. If there was an expansion pack with additional advanced features, accessible for a monthly fee or an annual fee, I’d pay it and I’m sure there are other creators who would as well. Thanks for an extremely useful app! Keep those developments coming.

It’s great, but I do miss the old version. As one of your previous users of the app, I quite liked the older version. It was simple and easy to use, especially for someone that doesn’t really like to put too much time and effort into figuring out how to simply adjust the crop of the video and all. In the old one, everything was easy to figure out, but all of these new features and this new format is a bit overwhelming. I mean, I swear I’m not as lazy as I sound, but the simplicity of the last version and its ability to still make high quality videos were probably the greatest things I loved about the app. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of the new features and effects, but I also wish it was easier to maneuver around the app and whatnot. Maybe it’s just because I’m used to the old version, but maybe it isn’t ??? Also, I wish you guys would add a feature where you could detach audio from one video and put it under another. I can’t seem to figure out how to do that with this app, but I was able to do it with iMovie when iMovie was free a long time ago, so it would be cool if you add that feature. I soooo love your app though and will continue to use it because it’s still by far the best app I can find for video editing that’s free.

Best Editor on the App Store. I love Splice. I’ve been using it for about a year, and I’m loving all the improvements they’ve been making. I remember the old version where I could see the sound waves for any audio I picked out (back when you could only use music available on the app or bought in iTunes... a worthy trade off imo). I don’t know when the update that requires payment for colored text backgrounds came out, but I do know I never had to pay for it previously. I didn’t have to until I upgraded my phone and had to download Splice again. For some reason, I think the devs graciously allowed me to use the paid upgrade for free because I’ve been using it for a long time... and I am very glad they did :) Thank You so much! Unfortunately, I haven’t connected any money to my account yet, so I don’t think I’ll be able to purchase the upgrade for a while. Hopefully it’ll be soon, but until then, thank you devs for continuing to make this app better and better. It never crashes like it used to, and I can do all kinds of neat stuff for free (more than any other app I’ve seen), and even more once I buy the upgrade!

I’m only giving this 5 stars so it can get some attention. This app S U C K S. The customer service S U C K S. I’ve spent over a month on editing a video that I cut down from an hour to 20 minutes and it will not upload. No matter what I do, no matter what I’ve tried, no matter how much more I keep editing out, no matter what I delete in my photo gallery, no matter what advice they give on the website. Nothing works. I’ve sent an email almost 2 days ago now and no answer. I’ve tried to go on the website to access my account. I cant. I tried having a password reset sent to my email, wasn’t sent- no matter how many times I kept trying to get it to send. I can’t access my account, I can’t upload my video I spent SO long on, the app just keeps crashing no matter how many times I’ve closed the app and updated it. Nothing is working and now I fear I’m going to have to give up, get another editing app and start from scratch. Save yourself the pain and heartache of getting such an unreliable app. DO NOT GET THIS APP. ITS A WASTE OF MONEY AND IT’LL WASTE YOUT TIME WITH HOW GLITCHY AND UNUSABLE IT IS.

Has some issues. For some time I've been looking for a free app to make gacha videos and just regular videos. I was pretty excited when I saw this app that could work with my device. I decided to test it out by just trying to combine some short videos and adding some music and text to it. All went really smoothly and I really enjoyed it. The only thing that bothered me was that the video itself seemed to be really glitchy and kept stopping and going. I didn't think much of it and thought that I needed to adjust the speed of the video. I did just that but the glitchy quality didn't change. I deleted that project and decided to make a slideshow. At first everything was exported and everything was fine. Then I played it and it only showed the first clip and the rest of it was just a black screen. I tried again by deleting the project and exporting the files again. Then no matter how much I tried it kept telling me that something went wrong. Even though that's an issue that I had the first time I used Splice I was really impressed with how simple it was to use and the amazing choices of music it had. I hope you don't take this as "hate" but I still hope you look into this issue, thank you and have a great day!

Subscription. **EDIT** I was looking through the app and realized you can adjust the quality of the video to 1080p and the app allows you to download your video for free! Anything with the blue crown next to it means you need the subscription! Sorry for the confusion and very glad I can continue to use the app! I really enjoy this app. Simple and easy to use. I don’t use filter or adjustment on my videos. I just like to edit out clips that are kind of long. Mostly stuff of my family to share with them. I remove anything that’s not needed like if the camera pans to the floor or something. I haven’t used the app in a couple months and went to save a video I edited but unfortunately now that app has you pay for a weekly subscription of $4.99 or $9.99 a week. At this time it’s not something I can justify paying. I understand and absolutely agree creators should be payed for what they make. It would be nice if there was the option for the bare minimum of split, delete, speed up options for free and the subscription included their others affects and abilities the app has to offer. For now I’ll be on the lookout for another app to use, but if you have the ability to fit their subscription into your budget I fully believe this app is worth it.

Thanks for update. The recent update displays the text font size. This is great! Thanks for taking the feedbacks. Could you please make further enhancement as well? (1) add a subtitle feature. Instead of click “text” to add text, add another “subtitle” button for user to add subtitles. There should also be a setting for user to sync the setting (such as horizontal/vertical position, font, font size, text alignments, etc) of all subtitles or select-subtitles in the video, without having to adjust each subtitle individually. I see that you uses “T” for text in the timeline, you can use “S” or “C” for subtitle. The difference is for subtitles, user can sync the setting or adjust them in groups. This will really save a lot of time. You can consider using separate timeline for subtitle as well. With separate timeline, user can set default setting for subtitle timeline. New subtitle automatically have correct font setting, and placed in correct horizontal/vertical position without any adjustment. Should have auto sync option so when user adjust font size of one subtitle, it adjusts all. When user moves one subtitle up or down, it moves all, etc.

A few problems. Hey, so basically the app and really amazing easy to work with and I really really love it I got the app a day ago so obviously it is the next day right, and I go to edit and finish my video I made but it says “Project Not Readable” which made me confused and thought oh it probably just because I have so many apps open right so I close ALL of my apps and go back into splice... it didn’t work so I clicked the three dots in/on my video mind you I worked really hard on it so if it was deleted I’d be VERY VERY MAD 😡 so I clicked the three dots right thinking it would give me an option of something that could help but no it had “rename duplicate or delete” but rename and duplicate were gray as in the able to be processed the only one that was working was delete obviously I was not clicking that, Duh 🙄😑 so to this point I’m aggravated to the point I wanna smash my phone...so if you can fix that unless it’s just me because I have a really old phone so it would make sense you know but I do wanna make sure it’s not a bug or anything and if you can work or check in on that, it would be very appreciated so Thank you all for your time and have a great rest or your day evening or night😊 your all beautiful bye!!♥️🌸✨🥰

Updates on features don’t remove bugs!. Just rolled out a new update where we are able to see wave forms of the extracted audio or sounds added into the timeline, which is a nice bonus expect it doesn’t fix the issue that exists in sound design. I constantly get bugs in editing where sound files I have lowered volume on glitch and stay at full volume! Audio fades too stop working if something changes on the timeline too making any edits to audio impractical on this app. It’s impossible to tweak audio to the way you like it and then do anything else on the timeline, because if you change anything else volume and audio fades reset and disregard changes made. Please fix this!!!

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME! 😒. Ok. So most reviews say it’s good or okay and that’s what made me want to download the app in the first place. But after trying it out, I realised how much of a waste of time it is. My reasons? 1. About 90% of the elements have to be payed for and the app doesn’t warn you about paying. Otherwise if you figure out with ones don’t need to be paid for, then you end up with a simple, plain video without all the cool features it advertises. 2. If you accidentally use one of the premium features, then you CANNOT save it. I wasted so much time using the features that they didn’t say had to be payed for, and I ended up with no video after all my hard work. 3. The advertisements make this app look AMAZING, and it even tricked my friend into getting it for a school project! I had to immediately warn them otherwise they would’ve wasted SOO much time. Also, this app ended up on the TOP of a list for the best free apps for editing videos on mobile. WHAT?! There are better apps out there, so my advice is to maybe try Inshot. Hope you found this review helpful!

😐. It’s a very good app. There’s unlimited pictures FREE music. It’s really good. But I have like literally 6 apps on my phone and not very much pictures or videos I only have like 10 videos and photos on my phone and it’s like “You don’t have enough storage.” It’s really annoying me right now I even updated my phone and it still said it. I eventually deleted 2 of my apps and it still didn’t work. It never used to be like that. On my iPad I used to have so many apps and photos and I never had a problem. It’s only now that soon the “big update” is coming that it’s doing it and it’s so annoying. I’m trying to edit a video for my sister for her channel and it’s annoying me it’s the only editor that’s good and has free music and unlimited pictures. But yet it still be’s stupid.

Almost perfect. Really simple to use and you can dive straight in to make great videos. I personally preferred the old design but can understand the desire to tinker and tweak One bug/feature since the big redesign keeping this from reaching 5 stars is that when you add music the video suddenly lengthens to match the track, rather than the audio snipping automatically to match the video like it used to. I haven’t yet found a setting to change this back so assume this is just the way of the world now. Annoying but not serious, but reduces the previous 5 star simplicity

Not sure. There are still bugs and problems are present in Splice suite. For example, the most recent one is with the volume which appears to sound low. But when you increase it and export the project the sound is far too loud. In the past, there are problems with VoiceOver recording (audio recording options) not sounding right and overlapping each other. Also the price increase coming up is almost double the current, from $10 to $18. That’s too much. Perhaps you could have altered by few dollars. In today’s problematic economy it impacts the user too much. Especially for software that still presents glitches.

Won’t change the volume. I’m making a short film on here. I put the volume on a song low and recordings of voices high so you can hear the voices clearly and have song in the background. However the volume won’t change, the song is not changing to low and still remains loud I even put the volume on zero and it’s still loud like it’s on 100 still. This project is 5 minutes long, I started new projects just to test out the volume and it does change when I put it on high then low. But I feel like because this video is over 5 minutes long which is quite a lot of data for an app it’s starting to glitch. Maybe editing a video over 5 minutes long wasn’t a good idea for this app, it’s starting to glitch now and won’t change the volume. Quite frustrating

Use to be excellent. Ive been a long time user of this app and it was a very intuitive and user friendly app. I made MANY of good videos with it straight from my phone. Recently, I’ve felt like smashing my phone. It is now far from intuitive, it’s very frustrating, I insert tiles and it doesn’t happen where I am, difficult to grab and move around edits. I am far beyond disappointed. I don’t understand how people are paid to mess with things so far beyond their original and working state that it becomes something totally different and frustrating!! Seriously!! This use to be an amazing app, now it seems that all control is taken away, it’s a lot of guess work with no direction. The intentions I have are actively hindered. I try to insert tiles, music etc and every time it happens at the same point and not where I want it!!! Beyond frustrating!!! I’ve been messing around with it for a while and it is absolutely dismal now!!!

Really great but.... So I’ve been using Splice for almost two months now and I really love it! There are so many options and such a great variety of tools to use without having to even pay for. Except, when Ive clicked the download button the video downloads, except for today. When I went to download the video I was finished with it told me that I had to pay for the pro version. Ultimately I’ve very confused as I’ve downloaded multiple videos before and it never said anything like this. Is this a bug or will I have to pay to continue to use this app? All around though it is a very good editing software

Easy edits but the glitches will drive you nuts!. I prefer editing videos in Splice over CapCut, I find it easier to use however the glitches are a deal breaker! When you snip a clip it’ll randomly add a flash of black screen to the clip. The most frustrating glitch is when you spend HOURS editing a video, then go to export and Splice tells you it can’t be exported OR it’ll just freeze whilst exporting so you’ve just wasted hours of editing for nothing. Can’t even screen record to try salvage the video because of the icons at the bottom of the screen with no option to hide them whilst previewing. If Splice fixes these glitches it would be great! But honestly, after spending hours editing a video for a brand, to now not even be able to export it and save it, I’m deleting Splice and only using CapCut. It’s too unreliable.

It’s is Great but.... The app is an overall great app!! I love it and it is definitely one of the best editing apps I’ve had. Ever since its recently updated it self with out any notice, every time I try to edit or make a new video, it says allow camera access. So I click yes or whatever it is, and it brings you into settings. But setting doesn’t have a thing in my phone that says blah blah camera access button. So I’m really confused on how to do it and now I can’t make any videos because I don’t know how to put on camera access!!! Can some one plz help me because I need to make more vids! But overall your App is great and I would definitely recommend it!!👍🏻 From Lily

WAS my favourite video editing app. Have been using this for so long and have loved it. Was the easiest to use and the best. BUT now they are moving heaps of features (almost all) to the premium paid only version. Even the simple transitions I’ve always used. Pretty disappointing as a long time user. Will be looking at using a different app now as there is no way I can afford the high ongoing subscription cost for just basic editing. Editing my review again as now after another update I can’t even add my own saved and purchased iTunes music to the videos! I no longer rate this app at all. Do not recommend it unless you plan on spending money on an ongoing subscription. Don’t bother believing it’s free. Will be deleting this app now and finding another.

Good. I like Splice because it allows me to edit videos without having to use photoshop and retain a somewhat alright 1080p quality. However, it’s almost impossible to select a clip or photo that has its duration decreased to anything less than 1 second. This has made it hard to edit on my phone and I’ve had to undo heaps to before I decreased it to less than 1 second when I wanted to change the duration of that clip. Otherwise, good app. A bit of getting used to needed before I’m able to use it to it’s capacity.

Problem I am having. So generally I think this app is great, love the editing and after using it for a few years I have become heavily accustomed to it which is why not so long ago I became very confused. You see normally you would open up the project (edit) that your currently working on but for some reason when I would open up my project it wouldn’t work. And as wouldn’t work I mean instead of not loading it would just completely crash my device and I know this issue is most likely not my devices fault since I have an IPad Pro 12.9 inch. So if someone from Splice could reach out to me so we can resolve this bug I am having I’d love that.

Good Free App does everything I want. My first go at making a video. So far have made one compilation of 16 photos with music and sound effects, title, custom fade. I also initially had the problem that it would not add my photos after I had selected them but I think it was because I tried to load too many at once (30). As soon as I started with fewer (12) and only loaded a few at a time it was ok. Have tried to load apple app but a huge file would not even load on my 16gb ipad. Splice is a tiny fraction of the size but does everything I need. I like this app. Would like to be able to hear the music before loading especially as, once loaded, you cannot delete. One thing that I hate is the black background with very low contrast to delineate parts of the screen and with tiny white labelling. It is very hard to find the tabs. An option to have say grey text on a white background would be much appreciated. Thanks for the great free app otherwise.

Best editing app on IOS. When I first downloaded this app I thought it would be like all the other editing apps on IOS and you would need to pay to use, but when I found out it was free, I was really impressed with it. This was before the user-friendly update came out that made the app(in my opinion) the best free to use editing app on iOS, maybe even better than most of the pay to use editing apps. I like the last update so much because it had(and added in) all the features I needed and wanted in an editing app for free e.g. video merging, easy cutting and trimming, able to add text and user friendliness. Overall an amazing app. 10/10!

Easy Az!. I’m only an amateur but I loved this app. Photos easily uploaded and able to shuffle their order. Voice recording clear. Every editing tool needed available (speed up, slow down, panning, mute, cutting, texting, filters, etc.) I was able to layer the audio clips over the music and include sound effects, which sound awesome! Only issue I had was not being able to rearrange the order of the audio clips (had to delete audio then re-record in new position). I haven’t tried sharing my video yet but it looks amazing on Splice. Fingers crossed it works 🤞🏼

Great app, just don’t change your phone. I love Splice! It’s my go to for video editing on my phone. The one downside is every time I change my phone, or even keep the same phone but restore from a backup, I lose all my work. The projects are there but they all say the source files are missing, even though they’re still there on my phone. I’m not sure why the links would have been broken, given it’s been restored from a backup so nothing should have changed?

Love the app Just one problem. Can you have a landscape mode? I know It’s not much I am on IPad. I used to use a software called IMovie and It just didn’t get to me. I’m using this to edit videos and whenever I go to the home screen, It is always in portrait mode. But when you go to editing mode it goes to Landscape. Can you please fix this? I know it’s not much but It will be a great help, and a great improvement for the app. And I’ll considered this to be my editing tool over IMovie. But I just use the free version. I love the app and I’ll continue to use it. 😁👍

Great👌🏼. I use Splice every time I need to “up” the quality of my content quickly. It’s super intuitive, very simple and easy to use and the best video editing app for an iPhone that I’ve come across. They’re constantly updating their software, adding new features and functions and have a huge range of non-copyright sounds and tracks to choose from that allow you to easily and effortlessly turn your boring old videos into something engaging and interesting. Thanks Splice! You guys are great!😁

DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. First of all, I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS. EVER. So the fact that there is a review; speaks volumes. I love that I don’t have to have a subscription to use the app which gives me an opportunity to see if I actually like it without fear of cancelling the subscription if there is a free trial. I love it! I also love that it doesn’t have logo stamps like on tiktok does which allows the video to be used in a variety of places (to friends, family, different social platforms) which gives it a cleaner aesthetic. And absolutely love how user friendly it is! Only thing I would recommend is making an option available to move which part of the music is playing without extending it and then trimming it again but totally a minor thing! Absolutely in love!!! Thank you!

I CAN NOT ADD ANY PHOTOS OR MUSIC WHAT THE FLIP. I am trying to add photos but it is Coming up with something didn’t work I even looked in my settings to see what the problem was NOTHING WAS THE PROBLEM and any time I try to use my music it then say something failed I would suggest not to get this app it is only letting me use videos NOT PHOTOS LIKE WHAT THE FLIP I AM TRYING TO MAKE A GACHA HERE LIKE HELLO Making my story of Gacha is so much important to me Because I’ve been making gachas for amalong time. Well it is pretty good with the videos just NOT THE PHOTOS That’s why I gave it 2 stars it’s also pretty glitchy for me but the thing that I sort of do you like about this is adding videos JUST NOT PHOTS I tried everything to add photos JUST IT DID NOT WORK AND THE MUSIC FIX THE MUSIC AND PHOTOS I NEED TO MAKE MY GACHA NOWWWWW.

Animated text options lag behind other apps. Great app, super fast turnaround for turning a bunch of photographs and short videos into a reel with the app able to automatically insert transitions, music and image animation (Ken burns effect) to all images straight away before you even have to start editing! Recent addition of animate text is great but there doesn’t seem to be any option to customise the animated text (as you can with still text) by changing the colour and adding a label to make it stand out. Is white text with no background label really the only option for animated text because that’s basically unusable - it’s unreadable against most video backgrounds. Normal text is customisable but can’t be animated. What’s the deal? Inshot has this nailed. So I wish I could say Splice is a one-stop shop for all my needs but currently I’m using it for some things then exporting my video half-finished and adding animated text using InShot. If you can update this feature then I wouldn’t need any other apps and it would be much more convenient!

Audio issues 🙄. When adding music you can no longer choose a specific part of the song that you want. in this new update you’ve made it difficult to move the audio bars in order to select a small section of the song. Previously this option would come up first as soon as you chose a song from your library. Anyway you could fix that or return to its original form. Thankyou

Happy Customer. Love Splice, great app, been using it for years without complaint. Since the new upgrades, there have been a few minor hiccups, (and the loss of a couple of beloved features), but still a great app overall. The new interface takes a little more tweaking, but the option to finesse your finished product is the reason for that. Trustworthy, no scams or hidden costs, and your videos are as great as you want to make them. (I do miss the fade out feature guys, any chance that could make a return?) Love your work!

It had to come some time. No longer free 😞. I have been using this app for many years. It’s super quick to learn with some cool features and filters which new features are added with regular updates. It’s my go to app to edit my GoPro footage when travelling over a few wines Disappointingly it’s no longer free and I guess that was inevitable. Unfortunately it’s gone from free to very expensive even for the yearly fee. Though you can use the app with standard functionality for free, you can’t export it which makes it pointless. Unless I am missing something? So, for me I’ll just being signing up when travelling and using the GoPro a lot and miss using it in between.

This practically deletes all your work for no reason. I’ve had this app for a while it worked fine so I bought the premium subscription yearly, and not even a week later I find that all my projects, EVERY SINGLE ONE, has “missing assets” this is clearly an app bug since all my media that I’ve imported into my projects is still in my camera roll I don’t have storage optimisation on iCloud turned on so I don’t see what the problem is! I’ve tried restarting, refreshing and importing the same media in a new project on the app but nothing is working. I’ve put so many hours into this app PLEASE FIX THIS “missing assets” ISSUE!

My Positive/Honest Review:. Splice is an app that I have been familiar with since the age of 12 and I have always enjoyed editing and making videos with their software. There are moments when the app can be quite difficult to use and doesn’t work properly which can make it quite stressful for me when a project doesn’t save properly, but most of the time the Splice team are able to help me out in one way or another to resolve issues I have at play. I am most familiar with Splice over other video editing apps and the Splice team are good at getting onto issues which is why overall I give the app a 4 star rating out of 5. Splice overall in my mind is a great mobile video editing app! Yours sincerely, Retro John :)

My review. So far I am really enjoyed the game although only got to recently it definitely reminds me of iMovie but it’s very different and help you with different audios and can literally keep your memory say forever I really enjoy this app but there’s one thing that I would like to change.I wish that it wouldn’t at the start ask so many questions it ask what you like to share or sometimes like why are you here are you daily basics but I I’m not sure it’s your opinion but my opinion is kind of weird I know they’re only asking on how you know technology and does which is really helpful by the way it it shows you at the start some things and some features that you could learn and I think that’s really good but so far that’s my review I hope you take your time to read mine because you’re stupid if you haven’t like played it before this is mine byeeee

Wonderful video editing app. I’m by no means a professional video editor but when the time came and I found myself needing to create a few videos on my phone I came to splice and it has not let me down! You can overlay photos and text, the app is so user friendly and there’s a variety of options for almost all the things you could want to do to a video. Will definitely be using again when I need to edit more videos

Good app. It’s a really good app, I like how you can make it for whatever frame you need, and I also like the text feature and all the other features. However, taking away the ability to save them without paying also takes away the need to use it at all. I spent almost an hour making a project, just to realise I needed to pay to save it. This was not at all what I was looking for and expecting when I searched for a free editor. I understand you need money to be ad-free, but I’m not paying to save something I created.

Very disappointing after years of using this app and recommending it!. Had my iCloud do an update and although your app says it “saves” the pieces your working on- it actually doesn’t save anything. I’d previously closed and saved my work but after hours of working on a project and all that was left was a message saying “media has been deleted”. Had to start from scratch. Why would you state every time we close the app that it’s saving our work if it isn’t? And if that’s not actually happening why does it take a few minutes to “save and close” each time we use it? What the hell is it actually doing? pretty lame guys. I’m very disappointed. Oh also there is no way to even retrieve the older “saved” versions so it isn’t obviously saving at all.

Overall good but one problem. I think the user friendly update of Splice was great, but there is one problem. After the update I quickly noticed most of the music choices were gone, and most of the new ones were really short/not that good. I really like how it is sorted by mood though. Another thing I noticed was that the sound effects were also compromised after the update. Many of the sound effects were removed (tv static for example). Hopefully this will change with updates but I still think the update was good with a new look and easy to use interface.

My previous rating was 5 ⭐️. I have been using this app for well over a year now and have just recently started to have some troubles. I’ve saved many videos (doing the same things and using the same methods as now) and they have worked perfectly without a hitch! BUT the last month or so, even with multiple updates, the app has stopped working smoothly. Either there are new bugs or the way you use the app has changed and the transition is not very good. I can’t save videos in high quality anymore (60fps/1080) and the music/audio pops regularly and there isn’t a way to fix it... not without deleting the entire recording and taping it again. Which doesn’t always make it better. The app still has many good points, like easy editing and a great range of tools for free. It’s just not any use being good if I can’t export my videos lol. Thanks! 😊 Please feel free to reply to me email as well!

Can’t upload music from ITunes 😡. The app is good in the sense where you can upload as many photos and videos as you like and put each in the order that you’d like however there were a few problems that I faced: 1. I had selected roughly 300 photos and was almost about finished (which took me so long to do in the first place) then I went out of the app to reply to a text message and when I came back to app it had crashed and I had to restart. (I didn’t close the app at all I just clicked into my messages for 2 seconds and came back). This infuriated me. 2. It says in the audio support that you can import music from your iTunes however you can’t. I have tried so many different songs that I have. I have tried to close the app and restart it. I have tried to restart my phone (which I have the latest iPhone so I’m sure that my phone shouldn’t be the problem). So I now cannot upload any music whatsoever. This reason is also because the music from the app is very old and boring and to be fair I couldn’t recognise a single song on there. 3. Exporting the video (saving it to your device) can be quite slow sometimes but still decent. I don’t mind it but if there was music in the video it’d make the wait worth while. 🙄 I would recommend the app to friends but only if you don’t mind a soundless video or if you want to use the crappy music they offer. Overall is a decent app but should fix the music part. At least update your music to have a few popular songs. Thanks.

A good film editor but. It’s a good film editor but screen recordings don’t have any audio, just like iMovie and we all know how they are now. One of the main reasons Splice became so popular is because screen recordings used to have sound on it opposed to iMovie having a glitch that muted screen recordings and now the biggest reason this app was so good is now completely gone and competition could easily overtake. I wish this information will be used to not only satisfy countless users and up total ratings. But it will also keep this app in the spotlight and will stop people from abandoning it and using a different app which can do the same things that this app used to be able to do. The crop feature is nice though, maybe add a green screen layer for more complex editing.

THANK YOU!. This is hands down the best video editor going! It’s right up there with paid software you can get for your desktop! The best thing about this app though is the fact that it is 100% FREE! Thank you so much!!! There are so many great apps out there but ruin themselves & the creating experience by doing something stupid like making sign up for a subscription!!! Keep up the amazing work & thanks heaps again! 💯

Editing. It has changed since I last used it was great then and now I cannot see how to cut out the original background noise of video and only have music playing? Also when the clip ends it keeps running on black screen and music and no where to cut film or snip, the previous version had editing lists of what you had done and was easily used this has been oversimplified and made harder to use because you have removed a lot of the controls needed

Best and worst. I must have downloaded the app to my phone years ago back when it was free and amazing. It’s everything I need in a simple on the go video editor. Recently I needed to edit something on my iPad so I downloaded it there and came to find that almost EVERY feature is now a pro feature, and there’s only a weekly subscription. Which is insane for what it is. For some reason my phone version still lets me use all the features with no issues so I’ll keep using it there for as long as it I’m able. I guess it all happened because of the acquisition. Everything I love eventually gets acquired and gets worse so I should have seen it coming. I understand the need for a paid tier to keep supporting it, but to take away almost EVERY function makes it no longer the same app selling the promise of pro functions for free. Not having a yearly or monthly subscription option also feels very sinister. I guess jumping from free to $20 a month looked like too much of a leap on paper. Also are they banking on people not reading the “weekly” part?

Bug fix. I can’t upload a video. All my videos are blank. I try & enter “contact support” however nothing happens. I usually love this app highly recommend. This is just a glitch but not being able to contact support the only way I can get help is via reviews. Overall - This is the first time I’ve had issues. This app is great for creators that are new to editing or want a app that is easy & not complicated.

Close to paid software! Amazing for free!. This software is great for quick mobile editing of footage that surpasses iMovie’s jumpy interface. I love the feature where you can scrub through footage to find highlights, much like Adobe Premiere Pro. I also love the text options and how you can place text anyway on the screen, anyway! Lastly, my favourite feature of this free app is good quality music!! Very hard to get access to great audio tracks for free!! My suggestions for improvements would be to add fade in/fade out options for video so that the video starts from and end with black. Adding an option to export to 4K would be nice since most phones can now capture in 4K. Scrubbing through the timeline is a bit tricky if you’re trying to make precise cuts, which it seems this app is not designed for. But having a line that runs over the timeline and adding a “split video” option at the timeline playhead would be an awesome addition. Seriously though, I’ll be using this app for my on the fly edits! Thanks guys and gals!

CAREFUL OF CHARGES. DO NOT USE.. Open letter to SPLICE: Dear Support Team, I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction. I demand an immediate refund for every single cent that has been charged to my account. If you fail to comply with my request for a full refund, let me make it abundantly clear that I will not hesitate to take this matter to the police and expose your shady auto-renewal system. You have not made it at all east for me to cancel this service, nor have you contacted me in any way to advise of the charges being charged WEEKKY! There has been zero contact, only multiple charges! I am well aware of the severe consequences faced by individuals and companies engaging in these auto-renewal activities. I strongly encourage you to seriously consider the potential ramifications of your actions. I demand an immediate response to this matter. Failure to do so will only further encourage me in my pursuit, as I will not hesitate to bring the full force of the law upon you and initiate a thorough investigation into your services. I trust that you comprehend the gravity of this situation. Time is of the essence, and I expect a prompt resolution to this matter. Refunding the entirety of the charges and rectifying this gross misconduct is the minimal response I anticipate. Yours sincerely, Karina Wright

Does what I need, highly recommend. Was a pretty stoked with the app and how many features are available on the free version. When I tried to save my second video I was told I needed to upgrade to a subscription. Initially disappointed but I had all this footage so figured I’d take up the free trial and cancel if I wasn’t happy with it. I can safely say that I’m very happy, indeed!!! This app has everything I need as a beginner creator, but can’t speak for the more experienced. The text animations are not perfect but the typed text is fine. I’m sure there are a lot of features I still haven’t explored as well.

WARNING: UPDATE HAS LESS FEATURES. I used Splice for years as my go to video editor but after the update it’s useless to me. I am no longer able to edit music in my clips efficiently, the music waveform display is now gone and There are no music layers. Instead, the audio files just stack on top of each other in one layer which is pointless. Adding and trimming multiple clips is now more difficult and tedious, after playing with it for a few minutes I can’t even figure out how to trim clips. The prior version was significantly more user friendly, quick and simple to use. I used to swear by this app and recommended it to multiple people but now i’m forced to download and use an alternative that does everything this app used to do and more.

$5 a week just to export video. Found out about splice about a year back and have completed a lot of awesome projects with it. Honestly one of my favourite vídeo editing apps. Used to be my only favourite one but it’s gone downhill recently that caused me to have to resort to other apps to finish the work. 1. App crashes way too often, can’t handle a lot of effects being put in 1 project 2. Understandable if we need to pay for some premium features like special effects or filters, but having to pay $5/week just to be able to export a video with both footage and music is a bit much. Like others said $5 a month is more reasonable Hope you fix these problems because I hope I can still support and work with this app in the future

amazing app, but i’ve had some problems. when i first got this app, it was great. i loved what you could do and i found it really easy to use. but the second or third time i went to use the app, i clicked onto what i had been working on, and then the screen went black and took me back to my home page. i tried using the app again, and going into my project like i did before, but the same thing happened. i shut down my phone and turned the power back on and opened the app to try again. but the same thing kept happening, and i would end up at my home page. i ended up deleting the app and downloading it again. and i worked on what i was doing before, but again after my second or third time of using the app, the same thing happened. i don’t know if this has happened to anyone else, but i was just hoping that the app gets updated again so i can use it because i really enjoy it.

Bad App. This is one of the most poorly created apps I have ever used. I spent 30 minutes just trying to find out how to add music to then realise I need the pro edition to implement music. Every ten seconds I get a notification to buy the pro edition when I’m only young and don’t want to buy online app features. After a while I finally end up finishing what I wanted to create, It was horrible, I didn’t have access to anything so I was forced to upload a terrible video, (is what I thought I was going to do), until I found out I can’t even save my video without pro. This is a horrible app, DO NOT PURCHASE!! The developers probably had no clue what they were doing when making this app. 1 star.

Unnecessarily frustrating interface. I want to use this app to record music covers, and I need to be able to line up the audio of the song with the cover I am performing. For no sensible reason you can only trim or move the song when you first import it, which means I have to guess to the millisecond where to crop the song, if I want another attempt I have to delete the song and import it again. If there is a better way to do this the interface offers no hints as to how, I have tapped, dragged and held down on every button on screen but can’t figure out a way to make it work. If this was free software it would be one thing, but asking $5 a WEEK? Kind of insulting.

Great app. I think most people writing comments here need to update their phones! Works great for me on iPhone 3GS 32GB iOS 5.1 update. You can trim video and music, can mix multiple tracks and movies or pics, it can slow and speed up video, you can add titles, save to gallery via the export button when finished and upload to face book from camera roll or use the app to upload to utube. It also has some color effects. The only bad point is you have to pay 4.95 to remove adds and individually pay for upgrade packs such as sound effects. Oh and it is so easy to use! Just watch the how to vid it comes with.

Beware — you might lose your content without warning. As an early adopter of this app I had been enjoying free access (which is often the case for early adopters of apps, who essentially help apps succeed by getting the word out). However, this week - without any warning - they revoked my access and I lost all my content (I was in the middle of working on projects). I received no notification and had to enquire with customer service. (I’d also like to note that I had two previous enquiries over the last year for other matters — which I receive zero response to!) Reading through the reviews, it seems a lot of people have lost their content (in different ways — not just early adopters) and they’re basically told ‘sorry, can’t get it back’. The app is good — but I value customer service just as much... especially if you’re going to make me pay a monthly fee. This all feels a bit greedy and gross.

Great app. Hi guys! This app is amazing but i only have 2 problems, the first one is that i am on ipad and on ipad, the app is vertical! even though this is an awesome app, it would be a lot more easier if the app supported editing horizontally. Secondly, sometimes the app dosent download videos from my photo library even though it is definitely in my photo library. Anyway, other than those things, this app is amazing. Keep up the good work!

Rubbish. I used to use this app all the time, but since the new updates you have to pay to save and download, where before you didn’t… complete trash, so disappointed, I hope you change it back! By the way if you try to screen record (otherwise to save you have to pay🙄) Splice writing comes up all over your screen to prevent you from having a good copy of your video. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

Don’t like. You can’t even edit your videos because of the update

Not happy with sudden price jack. There’s nothing I hate more than an app that lures you into using it, only to suddenly hit you with a subscription only option several months later. It’s unethical and misleading. Deleting immediately.

Update. I loved this app cause it was great for making athletics but I hate this new update it so difficult to use can you please change it back to what it used to be please

App sucks. Can’t save videos unless you pay.

Apple music. It’s great until when you wanna input music you can’t because it says that “this file could not be loaded” each time I try, please update your app and fix this

Misleading. You can download it for free but then you HAVE to pay to even get into the app. Weekly payments for a video editor???? So greedy. I would maybe pay a dollar, ONCE, to buy this app. But $5 a week????? Steer clear of this one

Dumb. Retarded,I just finished a video and it’s making me pay😡

Awesome app. Quick flexible does what it says it will. Great little tool for quick creations. I do wish these kinds of apps didn’t lock into iTunes for music vs supporting any sound file or even recording from virtual instruments.

Not saving my video. Spent money on the membership and started making my first edit, took around 4 hours and every time I try to save, it freezes and never loads. I have tried lowering frame rate and resolution and still nothing. Keeps freezing at the same spot. DO NOT PAY FOR MEMBERSHIP YOU CANT EVEN SAVE THE VIDEOS

Cut and trim on new splice. Cutting and trimming are no longer straight forward. Couldn’t figure it out. Didn’t have a problem with old splice.

Update Sucks, Less control. With the latest update Splice took away a very clean, polished, intuitive control scheme and replaced it with a less powerful and manipulatable interface. You have less control over splicing music and video. It is harder to layer your media. Everything just got harder and less precise to do under the guise of “cool looking”. App kinda sucks now. It really does. What once was an honestly 20 second job now takes about 5 minutes to fuddle with the controls and wait for the very slow slider. It used to be so helpful to click on the music and be able to slice it wherever you wanted while looking at the waveform. Now that is gone and replaced with a very small, hard to click on music track that is hard to be accurate with. Revert the app please. Nothing improved. Change isn’t improvement.

This app is Terrible. I tried two times and both times the app took some of the video and overlapped it with the rest of the video I spent at least 3 hours and it was all wasted it might have more features than iMovie but iMovie is 100% better.

Sucks. Why do you have to pay for saving videos

Horrible. Bad watermarks and everything is stuck behind a paywall

terrible. just wanted the free trial and when i canceled the subscription before it was due it ended up charging me twice afterwards. you can’t add music if you don’t use apple music and the app crashes if you’ve created anything longer than a minute. the app sucks, don’t waste your time on it.

Used to be good. A decent amount of music in my library will either not play or I get an error message stating “unable to add audio” specifically after the upload has reached 96%. Update to prior review: Now Splice doesnt allow music at all, a shell of its former self. Great work guys, you’re useless.

Kinda bad. I wasted my time because I imported it but nothing happened then it only had 2% left so that sucked

Why did you destroy splice?. The app called Spice was LEGEND, prior to the recent app update. As a digital artist I have gone through many apps and you murdered your own app... why? Why would you destroy something that wasn’t broken? I am beyond devastated by this app suicide

Worst ever. Why the hell do you have to pay for such a simple thing????

Ruined. This update has simply ruined the app, total garbage

Don’t get this app. You can’t save any video and if you try to screen record it they put watermarks on the video

Charged for free trial. I signed up for your “free trial” but I got a charge on my card anyway after a cancelled my subscription and deleted the app. Scam.

was actually good. I’ve been looking for something to use to edit videos for a long time and then I found this. It was really good but now because of the update i have to find something else now.

Money. It cost money just to save it onto your thing just make it free so that people can post it onto the Internet like I wanna post it on TickTock and I can’t because this cost money to save it so it’s so stupid

Terrible Changes made. I don’t know what moron changed this perfectly good and intuitive app to this upgraded crap. It’s so hard to resize videos, edit music, add transitions. I bet someone came into this office trying to shake things up being new and messed it right up. The once best app is now trash.

Very poor. I paid for a year subscription and I only used it 3 times now I can’t access to templates anymore. Not happy at all

Awesome editor. Really good when it comes to YouTube or any video editing and comes with free no copyright music

Don’t get this app. This app is awful you can’t even extract music from vids and u have to pay just to save a vid

Misleading Payment Policies and No Support. Automatic subscription renewals and misleading in-product prompts to automatically ensure you accept the most expensive plan (per $90 per year). Zero customer support. Use any other video editor app.

It used to be good .... Yet another app that wants you to subscribe for a monthly fee. Delete delete delete.

New update comes with high subscription cost. Was a great app, now developers have become too greedy... no thank you, deleted!

Pay to save? Disappointing.. Downloaded, created a 20 sec vid after learning the app, and now CANT SAVE UNLESS I PAY??!!! That’s a rip off I’m sorry. No disclosure was provided and can’t find any info about this online. 😡

I used to love this app. I used splice for all of my videos before, but then the update ruined the whole app.

Don’t update. Used to use this app quite a bit on the iPad, tried to use it on iPhone and now it costs per week just to use it. Just a money grab at this point. You killed your own app.

Blurry images. Used to be a fantastic app, now it lowers image quality to the point that it’s unusable. Very disappointed

The new subscription model sucks. I used this app for years. For the very basic video editing I needed, it was perfect. Combine two videos, trim off beginning and end. Done. However, as a regular but only occasional user, the yearly fee is ridiculous. Why not offer a per project fee? Or a subscription tier that allows one or two videos a month only, but for a lower fee?

Dumb. Don’t get this app! You have to pay to save it!! I literally spent An hour making a video. Then I try to save it and it doesn’t let me without paying!!!

Horrible. Used this app for years. Loved it. Recently it was crashing so I deleted it and redownloaded to see if that would fix the issues. Upon redownloading it now costs $4 a WEEK to use half the features. So disappointing and upsetting.

HATE the update.. I used this everyday. Then....The up date happened....now I don’t use it at all. Unfortunately can’t do some very important stuff anymore and it’s a lot slower then it was, making it hard to edit videos properly. The update has completely messed this app up, very sad.

No timelapse option!!!?. Editing is so limited here, no time-lapse option. I find this pretty much useless.

Export issues. This app used to be great but recently I’ll spend time editing a video and when I go to export the video it doesn’t work. I waste time editing because the video won’t save to my device and is unusable. Very frustrating!

OVERPRICED. This thing used to be completely free, now it's overpriced af.

Fade in Fade out!. Fix the Fade issue! Music just cuts and doesn’t fade! Makes editing look amateur!

Cool. Makes it fast to cut out the boring bits of your dog video!

Keeps changing plans. Paid the year Pro subscription. Suddenly lost AI video features and downgraded to Lite subscription after full payment

Amazing video editing app!!!. Does what it says and so easy to use!!

BB. Best before. The update sucks it takes a long time to save the video in my camera roll

Disappointment. You guys are the real scum of the earth. I cant contain how utterly disgusted i am by you. This used to be a good free editing software, the best on the market, but then you had to follow the greedy, scummy, cashgrabbing bandwagon and lock all the useful features behind in app purchases. My faith in the human race is dying and my respect for you is non-existent. You ruined my day and probably ruined many others. Please stick your head in a blender.

good features for a completely unessecary subscription. why in the name of christ do i now have to pay for simple features that were once all free??? the past updates were good until this subscription nonsense came along, that for me ruined this app completely. as much as i don't prefer losing the new cool features this app now has, i'd rather not pay to download my own bloody videos with my own bloody music and small tweaks in it

THANK YOU!!!. So I’ve been wasting my time for about two hours trying to find a free app that I could use to add together all of my videos in this series into one. I tried out a bunch of apps, and most of them were “free” to download, but required you to pay to even use it. Others, I could use without premium, but I could only add two videos at a time, and each time I did it, video quality went down. Ads happened every few seconds! Plus, it took forever. Not only that, but the watermarks were incredibly ugly! Then I stumbled upon this app, and I am sooo relieved! I can add together as many videos as I want, completely for free! I ran into no annoying ads, and the video quality in the end is wonderful! Not to mention, there’s no annoying and tacky watermark ;3 this was quick, easy, and truly remarkable. Don’t waste your time looking through other apps, just get this one! It works perfectly for my needs <3 (And THANK YOU developers. You guys really made my night)

Best Mobile App for Video Editing!!!!. This app is incredible. I have used it for so many things, and it allows for so much freedom-all for free! There are no in-app purchases (that I know of) that prevent you from full access, and no permanent watermark. You can add layers of audio, transitions, cut and trim video, and add text! A few limitations I've noticed is that you cannot edit the duration of text (it will stay for the remainder of the photo/video clip, and they have a free music library but anything else has to be uploaded from iTunes (so no file input or drive download- it has to be in iTunes on the device you're using), and you can only speed up a video to 2x (I use this a lot for speedpaints and Instagram videos), although you can save it and import it again to speed it up more, but you might see a bit of decrease in video quality. Other than that, this app is TOTALLY worth it, and if for some reason you don't like it there's nothing lost because it's free! 11/10 would reccomend.

You Ruined Splice!. I’ve been using Splice for years. Every aspect of app was awesome. I never wanted to use another editor. I didn’t even want ot use iMovie anymore until your latest update. After installing the update, I was introduced to a portrait app UI. I don’t know what’s wrong with you and other app developers that make apps similar to this one. Portrait is not the future and it never will be. Why would I or anyone want to edit a video on an iPad in portrait? No one wants that! Splice has now been added to my list of worst video editing experiences. I don’t even care about the other features. Splice is an editor meant for landscape use; especially on iPad. I don’t care about portrait mode on my iPhone because I bearly use the app. Now that iMovie has gotten some improvments, I’m switching back. You’ve given me a reason. Our eyes are horizontal, that’s why TV’s and monitors are the way they are today. The only thing I’ll miss about the app is the fast transitions which are still there, but what’s the use. As I stated earlier, portrait will never be the future. And for thoughs of you who want a better app, go try something like iMovie, Adobe Rush CC, and other Pro apps like Luma fusion.

Great App, Big Hidden Expenses. I’ve been using this app for 3 years now. It was the best app to use, especially on a small phone screen. It was also mostly free, which was awesome. I stopped using my phone to edit for a while because I got new video software for my work computer, but I took some vacation videos I wanted to make nicer. I opened the app back up and discovered nearly everything but trimming and volume adjusting clips requires a subscription? And said subscription is $99 yearly?! This is a nice app, but that’s Adobe After Affects pricing for professionals, not the average phone user who wants to just add some effects and happy stock music to a video of their dog to send to friends. The devs have shifted their audience to pros, so I will find a more casual app to use in the future. Splice does have good features and if you are a video media influencer/marketer who works in large volume, the price could be worth it. They’ve expanded their music offerings, which is where I’m sure they’re trying to recoup their licensing money. Musicians deserve to be paid, I just can’t afford the price, so will be bowing out.

Pretty Neath TBH. I was expecting a LOT less from a free app, even with the fantastic ratings it had. However, this app really came through. It's pretty simple to stick a bunch of shots together into a mini movie with this (that's what I used it for) and you can even put subtitles. There are, of course a few flaws. I would really like to have been able to put more than one text box on at a time, and despite looking through all the FAQs, exploring the Help section, and just trying things out, I couldn't figure it out. Also, like I've seen in some of the review around here, it does crash a lot. One more thing: they have a bunch of steps in the Help section to do specific things that they should already have as features like I've seen with apps like this before; it would just make everything a lot less frustrating. Anyway, I'm still giving 5 stars because this is a fantastic app, especially at the low, low price of absolutely free.

READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING. I have stuff to say that has been happening to this app... so the app is great and all but there is 2 reasons I gave the app a 3 stars and I don’t like being mean to apps but I also have to be honest so 1. Ik there is music and all but if I want to put music I have screen recorded I cant find a button on the sounds and even when I go on music it won’t also I haven’t payed to hear music from the app named “music” so I cant put it but I do have CapCut so like ye that app lets me put music and other vids I screen or recorded 2. I have to PAY TO SAVE MY PROJECT AND TO SHARE IT!!!!!! Even if I screen record it it will show the words splice splice splice splice almost at the whole project and I’m like wut the fridge it’s really annoying. If those two things get fixed I will gladly keep the app but if it doesn’t I will SADLY DELETE THE APP Thank you for reading!! And Again I don’t like being rude to the apps but I also have to be honest thank u for reading again!!(ima do the same project in CapCut I recommend CapCut instead of this app nah I’m just kidding I also recommend this app)

Absolutely Horrible.. I was looking for editing apps so I could make my edits anywhere (I have After Affects on my computer but obviously I can’t take that with me like I can via my phone). I saw this one and I thought it looked very good. The app trailer and the reviews looked promising, so I decided to try it out. When I first opened the app, the setup was really cool. It was easy to start a new project, so I guess I’ll give Splice that. However, when I went to add the music, it said that I needed a subscription. Let me just say, SEVEN DOLLARS FOR A MEDIOCRE EDITING APP IS WAAAAY TOO MUCH. If the app was better, fine. But just to add music?! That’s ridiculous. I thought to myself “ok...maybe I can add music afterwards on iMovie or something. Lemme just get the transitions down, at least.” NOPE. You can’t even add transitions without paying. What’s the point of it being called an editing app if you can’t even EDIT?! Other things you can’t use include kens burn, filters, and many others I would assume but I wasn’t able to find out because after not even two hours I deleted it. Don’t waste your time getting this app. It’s a total waste of time and awfully thought out. These creators are greedy people who just want money.

New update constantly resets. March 22, 2023 now this app will not share to Instagram. Honestly, ridiculous how often there are bugs with this thing. It used to be completely free and it was amazing, now five dollars per week if you want to use some of the “premium features“ and then the thing doesn’t even work. Honestly, you guys really need to get your crap together. You used to be able to use this when you were in airplane mode but now it seems like you have to be connected to the Internet rendering useless while editing on an airplane‘s. Also, it seems to just struggle forever if you try to load too many clips of video and never loads. I hate that you ask me to review your app every time I open it and every time I open it you are charging for a feature you didn’t charge before. Honestly about to stop using this app together. Just charge a one time fee and be through with it. $100 a year is insane. Now you even charge for transitions… This app might be the worst one on the App Store for editing now. Takes forever just to load a clip from your camera roll to edit. You guys destroyed something that used to be great and now for some reason think we are going to pay for it

Better before! Please read 😳😳😳. Splice was WAY better before the update. All the update did was make Splice a bad and annoying editing app. Please return back to the original Splice. Now, I know Splice was really popular, so you want to make more things to pay for in the update. But that’s just dumb and mean. It was perfectly fine before. You could maybe (MAYBE) add some more ads in the new update if you’re not already making enough money, but why make it so you have to PAY to SAVE A VIDEO!? Like, seriously. There’s no point in making a video if you can’t save it. You might as well just make the whole app cost money. Also, everything is more complicated and doesn’t work as well in the new update. I put a long song at the end of my video, and it made 6 minutes of complete blackness at the end of the video because the song wouldn’t fit in the whole video. I mean, what? Have you guys ever heard of... cropping parts of a song off to make it fit? And I could just do more things more simply in the older version. I loved Splice before the stupid update. Please, please, please cancel the update and bring the good Splice back.

I HAVE HAD THIS APP FOR AGES, BUT THEY’VE MESSED IT UP. Hello fellow splicers! I have had splice for a good year now, and have absolutely loved it. It has been everything I could have imagined. Usually you would find a free video editing app on your google play or App Store, and they would all have a secret catch to them..right? Whether hey made you play monthly, and get “premium” to use advanced things, splice was NOT one of those. It super quick and easy to use. I could crop and video, or trim and cut it. I could apply sound to it, or record my own. I could change the speed of my video, or the resolution. INCLUDING the ken burns and zoom ins. I could put filters on them and EVERYTHING. But ever since this new update came out, this splice, has NOT ever been this different. Everything about it is so messed up, and not what I’m used to doing. It all jumbled up. I even looked at instructions, and STILL couldn’t figure how to use the new update. The only thing they added were add ons, ones that you would fine in your amazing iMovie app. But that STILL didn’t help!! Get this app if you wish, but I recommend you stand cautious to the new update. It’s pretty whacky, and I’m hoping they change it back. Happy splicing:D

Many Voice Recording & Caption Issues. I’m really starting to lose my patience with Splice. I keep getting so many bugs recently. The caption function is really buggy for me. It includes text from audios I’ve already trimmed, so when I try to hide them the app glitches and closes out of my project. Every time I try to go back and edit the captions again on those specific lines, or the lines near it, the project crashes again and I can’t edit the captions. I’ve had to just delete the captions on some projects because it doesn’t work correctly. Also, every project I’ve worked on recently, my voice recordings will record without issues and I can listen to them back nicely once or twice. But after a few listens, I’ll listen again and there will be glitches in my voice all of a sudden, and that glitched audio version saves with my saved video file too. Another bug, I was recording a voice note this last time & it said cannot save, and an error message popped up. Now I can’t even open that project, the same error pops up and closes out of the project every time.

I would like to amend my previous review. I’ll start by apologizing for how abrasive my previous review seemed. I’m a very critical person, not intending to being overtly rude. Upon a version update, a couple of issues I was having have been resolved. Including music tracks being restored. That being said, I still stand by my review of the price issue. Personally I don’t mind paying for a software if that software is worth the money to pay for it. Further, I have a request/suggestion. If you are going to charge a subscription, would it not make more sense to charge by the month versus by the week? It’s bad enough that EVERYTHING in people’s lives is turning into a subscription, I can imagine that nobody wants to see a recurring bill on their bank statements every 7 days, 52 times every year. Or at least give people the option to choose weekly (If the plan on using “premium” features once or twice then deleting), monthly and yearly for more consistent use. Just saying. I know this is a business. Everyone wants to make money. But you can do better than this and you know it.

This App Stands Out. 5 years ago I was looking for a simple to use, very quality and all around efficient app that took care of all my videos, wether it’s short/long edits or adding music over them, I found splice makes it convenient, especially when it’s mobile, for example this was my last edit, I got an idea at the park, began recording, when finished I sat at a bench noticed I needed more angles, so I recorded some more and again until I was satisfied with the work, I did not have to go home, hop on the computer only to realize I needed more footage, it would’ve demotivated or wouldn’t have the same energy, it’s nice when you can continuously trim your time by using this app and another key ingredient, when your uploading your videos, I noticed you never loose the quality. Very happy to have found this app and you would enjoy Splice just as much I do! Take my word for it! Try it out!!

Wish I hadn’t updated. Previous review: (5 Stars) Absolutely amazing, from the moment I opened the app I was given text boxes that explained what was what. There is also a huge “how to” FAQ section which was helpful. The microphone records really clearly. The only thing I wish they had was a rotate feature but it said they are working on it. I tried two video editing apps before this and got so *incredibly frustrated* because they weren’t intuitive, and barely had directions. This one definitely is easy to use for a newbie with no experience like me. Update: I haven’t had to use this app for awhile but I just did tonight for the first time since the update. The update took away so many features and became unintuitive and has no detailed “how to” section that I can find. The app use to be so incredibly versatile helping me make decent videos with no experience. Now? My videos aren’t anything like before. The only new thing I like is the way the crop feature works. I’d outline things but a few reviews already have. Heck I couldn’t even drag text correctly without accidentally hitting the exit project button. Feels like every other video editor in the app store now. I’ll probably have to find another one.

Everyone has too use this app or they’ll die. I was trying too find a app for my YT channel too Update my video’s too be better quality, than I found this app and it changed everything. It’s pretty annoying about the storage but I don’t care. :P btw I think this is very useful and everyone should use it. It’s the best app ever and everyone should buy it and edit vids for it. Also whenever I use Splice I learn something new. I wanna write more reviews and it is better than any other app cause it is amazing and should be the new Taylor Swift. It always sings booitful songs and Everyone will die if they don’t use it. It’ll cure they’re depression and make them happy forever. Or else sTiNgY will take over the world and squidward will marry his son and cheat on this app. Than break failboots tv and Satan becomes stingy and assumes everyone’s gender. It’ll be more chaos than expected! This is why everyone will marry this app and have a happy family with 10k Kids. :D

Went from Best to Meh. I’ve been using this amazing app for years on all of my projects. Although the older version was bit rough at first it was well organized and well thought out. One update later and it initially looks like a basic app and a mess to use. It took time and trial and error to figure out most of the basic functions I previously utilized. With no frame of reference I had to read through this app’s complaint responses to relearn where the old functions were relocated and how apply them. Opening the app initially the format looks like they are trying to appeal to beginner users and they keep more of the advanced options hidden. I appreciate that it’s now simplified but it’s not intuitive and unless a user is willing to put in time tapping away it the screen it comes across as simple and basic. I’ve read Splice’s responses to the critiques and I know the company says they worked hard on changing the user interface and I can see some areas that are more mainstream with other apps now but I wouldn’t consider it an improvement.

Amazing, but there’s 2 problems. Splice is just an amazing app editor! I tried so long looking for a great app editor and I found it! I love it, it’s great and amazing. You don’t have to pay anything or sign up for anything, that what I love about it. What I also love about it is that it’s all free and it’s so easy to use! I rate this a 4 star rating because I have 2 problems that I found myself.. That’s fine, I’m happy with it though! I also have been dreaming to make a successful channel and hopeful it works! But there is a problem.. 2 to be exact.. -When I try to put music from the iTunes music, it says that you need the pro one.. But I installed the other one which is called, Quik and I tried to put music on it and says brows it tried touching the iTunes logo, but I couldn’t, it would just say brows.. -Another problem is that some parts won’t bear to show up, I couldn’t do anything. Those are the 2 problems that I found.. Hopefully you can fix and if you do I will probably give it a 5 star rating!

Splice ‘n bliss. My mother board on the desktop crashed and burned. With all of my editing software unavailable I began some work from my iPad. Downloaded some work apps including one other movie maker/video editor. It was somewhat fun and entertaining, yet not having the features to procure results I’ve become accustomed to. After all how much could I expect from an app? Right? On my desk top I work with Majix Movie Maker Pro. Doing more research in the apps store I came across this app “Splice”. The app presentation showed many of the same features in the formats I use in my Majix software. Majix costs a few hundred dollars. Splice is FREE! For the features I have gotten to use this far it is exemplary. Need I say more. If it does ask for an upgrade, which it hasn’t, I would check it out too. In addition, not one advertisement except asking me to rate this app the write a review. This is the least I could do for an app that saved the day. Thanks Splice. Great App.

Uh what?!!. Me and my friend have been using this app for OVER TWO YEARS and then it deleted all of our projects and started over. We will never be able to see those again and this makes me super mad! Please give me a link to the old splice so I can retrieve and download my videos, which were more than 30+ of them and I worked for countless hours on them. I also worked FIVE WEEKS on a project that was supposed to be a present for my little sisters birthday, and it just deleted all my projects the day before! So freakin annoyed 😒. I hate how this turned out. Me and my friends and family have been using Splice forever. The actual update in general is fine, but I hate how you guys deleted all my videos! Couldn’t you have saved the previous videos but updated the rest of them!? I am beyond outraged and I really want to have my videos turned back here. Please hear me out by saying this app is amazing and I love what you guys have done with it! But deleting all the videos I’ve had for two years is making me want to complain more and more. Seriously. Hopefully, you see this or else I just spent 5 minutes of my time writing something that is going to waste, just like my videos .

Great app, needs GoPro Issue fixed. I love the app, but I am a YouTuber and I use my GoPro a lot. For some reason whenever I use clips from my GoPro in the app, the app likes to mute my clips from the GoPro. I don’t get any sounds on my clip, and it is very frustrating because I am a automotive YouTuber and my GoPro gets me the best shots. I am only able to use my GoPro clips if I put them as a overlay which is very annoying to do. Please fix this issue I don’t know why it does this and it is frustrating when I record good content but can’t put it in my edit because the sound is gone. I’ve tried closing out the app multiple times but it still does not do the trick.I also want to note that I’ve transfer my clips from my GoPro using a Apple USB- Card reader so that my clips get saved directly to my camera roll. There shouldn’t be any issue since I used clips directly from my camera roll in the splice app. Please fix it! Other than that I love the app which is why it is a 5/5star

PRO VIDEO EDITING APP?. First and for most, it has an extensive audio library and lots of great templates. As a video editor with over 30 years of on hands experience, you simply can’t expect to find everything in a app that runs off your phone, verses editing software that’s for your desktop. With that said, I’ll stick to basic needs of this app First, it’s not intuitive, but has a well written manual burned into the software. Secondly: If you’re an experience iMove user like myself, you won’t find some of the handy functionality that the iMovie offers. Workflow is the first thing you’ll discover. The app is not geared to doing things quickly. There are constant extra steps to achieve the same results you get with Apple’s iMovie with few steps. Text editing is not friendly or very creative. The software only allows for 1080. You cannot export or render in 4K. So, if you’re an iPhone user like myself, this app does not allow us to edit and process videos in UHD. This app does not allow the user to post directly to Facebook other than your own personal account. That’s a huge problem need of fixing!! 😡 There is no way I could find to create long audio fade times. Over all, it’s a nice app for the phone as long as you don’t mind taking a huge step down in visual quality going from 4K to just 1080 which is almost 20 years old. Since the app forces users to grade the app almost right away, I’ve not had the time to figure out more issues.

I WOULD GIVE MORE THAN 5 STARS IF I COULD!!!. THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO EDITING APP EVER!!! Most video editing apps won’t let you save your whole video use all of the features or use music on less you pay and they are hard to use but this app is super easy to use and it lets you do everything for free. I have used a lot of video editing apps on my phone but this is the only one I found that lets you do everything for free! I had like 10 video editing apps on my phone until I found Splice because I needed every app for a different thing and once I found Splice I deleted everything else because now I can do everything on one app and my videos are better than they used to be even though I’m only using one app because Splice can do everything the other apps can do in one app and stuff the other apps make you pay for but on Splice it is free!!! If I could I would give this app more than 5 stars!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this app! Start yt if you e been dreaming to. I bought the year plan with not much in my acc and I’ve always wanted to start yt so if my bank acc was draining then I’d want this as a back up when I got the courage to. I left it for about a month and then all of a sudden I have so much love and passion to post literally whatever I want! I’m not caring about algorithm yet bc I’m not expecting to blow up soon so I’m posting just to post and get something up there! Showing parts of my life that may seem boring but are like a hangout for me and whoever watches. I’ve been viewing you tubers since the beginning it seems and I’ve always admired them sharing their lives with the world. It always felt like I had friends 💕 and I’ve come to realize I’m not going to resonate with anyone 100% besides ME. So go and put YOU out there. You’re a star and the main character of your life! Take a hold on your power and do don’t think!

It was great, then it was decent, now it is empty.. A couple years back when I started using this app I greatly appreciated the wide variety of high quality features the app contained for free and it was in my opinion the best editing app on mobile for many months. More recently however it has been rough to watch every exciting feature be put into the premium version when once they were almost all free. It is not often I find an app to essentially lose features and become (for free) drastically worse over time to the point where only the most basic editing features are available and my only real use for it now is to reduce the size of video files and on some occasions add audio to them. I will keep my review at 4 stars for now since I do still prefer this app to other options but it is the shell of the app it once was (until you lot add overlays to the list of premium features at which point I will reduce it to a 2/5) .

Love it but please fix export time/space issues. I’ve been using Splice as my go-to mobile video editing app for a couple of months now. A few things of Note: (1) Importing/exporting videos can take a long time. (2) If I have to wait 10 minutes for an “estimated 1-2 GB“ video to export, I don’t want to find out at the end of those 10 minutes that there is “insufficient space to save this video“. Especially if, when I immediately check my phone’s space, I discover that I have over 100 GB free. (3) The “please don’t close Splice or put it in the background” mandate while exporting is unreasonable. As an on the go user, I’m doing this on my phone. I have literally lost a video that takes 20 minutes export because I was at 90% and had a 30-second phone call come in. Similar things have happened multiple times. (4) I love the transition options between the videos. However, the text appearance is a bit jarring when it’s either there or it’s not. Please option after a few options for text fade-ins as well, for the regular text (not just animations)

Apple will copy this app. Have you guys ever watched Silicon Valley you know that company who-lee reminds me of Apple. How they pay apple developers working at apple to copy really good apps in the App Store and just rebranded it as an apple app because they don’t have vision as a company. The real devs who have been working really hard on their apps they end up getting screwed through policy changes and things like that so you better download this app and use it while you can before Apple makes a clone out of it and forces us all to use it. This app is definitely worth five stars. At first I thought the reviews were fake because there are so many positive reviews but after trying to make a video about how this app doesn’t work I realized I just didn’t know what the hell I was doing and this app is actually really really good. I hope the devs don’t get feature creep and end up screwing it up. BTW tap once to see the timeline highlighted blue then drag to trim.

Go-to for video editing. I’ve been with this app a couple of years, it’s pretty awesome! For what you’d expect it runs insanely smoothly, and I think it drags out people’s creativity with ease through the simplicity of the interface. Customization and effect options are colorful and fun to mess with, while still working great for something more professional. It’s user-friendly to a wide range of the term. The reason that I left three stars was primarily the recent climb in paywalled features; it felt like there was a good balance between free and payed features for a long time, just enough that people would be cool with the current state but interested, open and enthusiastic to considering the payed version. The drop in free features feels more daunting now. I feel that people may care less to be paying for a subscription when their first experience with the free version is a big advertisement asking them of money, instead of the creative experience that’s made Splice’s core for a while.

Awesome not a problem at all!. The lessons are you people out there who say it’s hard to find disinfectant that affect well no that’s not true it’s easy to find all the effects you just got a pick a few pictures or videos or whatever and then see these little sound effects and different affects you just press on and then you can choose whatever music you want you can choose whatever you want it’s that simple well you people say there’s something wrong with splits or something you are all wrong and are you people out there who did good reviews good job because there should be all good reviews and when I read reviews I saw a few bad reviews so I decided to download the app myself and guess what it was perfectly fine there’s nothing wrong with it so whoever said it was bad and whoever people said it’s bad and all the people who that is that you’re all wrong and I am very disappointed in the people who made bad reviews on this and I am very proud of the people who made good reviews on this and yes if you’re asking yes I am a kid!-kristen

Minor things. I love this app and i have had it for years, and before the huge update awhile back it still was great, but there are some things that were gone after the update that i wish would come back. 1: for the music i wish you can go in the song waves and chose to where you would want to cut it down. 2: when you put in text it goes from the beginning of the clip to the end and it get kind of frustrating when you have a 8+ minute long clip, i think if you put in a text bubble it should be maybe 5 seconds long and then if the user chooses to they can make it longer or shorter. Finally 3: when you delete the clips from your photos on your phone it doesn’t save to the app anymore, i think this is very important because if you have the same clips on the app and on your phone then it takes up more storage. Like i said i love this app and i think you guys are doing amazing but these are some minor things that i would like to see reinstalled into the app. Have a good one and thanks for listening!

Love this app except…!!!. I love this app! Thank you for all the improvements over the years and for making it free! It is an amazing app! Only negative thing I need to point out is that for a long time now, it does not allow editing in landscape mode. I read somewhere that you are working on this, so thank you for that. I hope the fix isn’t too far away because this really is a nuisance having to hold the iPad in portrait mode. Not only because my ipad stand has to be put away, but also because my key pad is part of my stand and is rendered useless. P.S. I wrote this review many moons ago and wondered why I never saw it in your list of reviews. Apparently, it never posted. One other thing…when making adjustments to the first video clip, it drags the music with it. BAH! It’s so irritating. I get all my clip transitions just like I need in time to the music, but if I decide to make adjustments to the first clip, it drags the music with it. I don’t know when that started but that is not an improvement. I am still grateful for this wonderful app!

With all due respect to Splice Creators-. This app is amazing! I am just baffled by the things I can create on this app! The voiceover, the filters, the text font, the new music selections! I am IN LOVE with filmmaking, and I couldn’t wait to get started making shorts. I had to give it three stars, though, because there are somethings you could consider to make this app bigger and better than ever: • I deleted this app because I couldn’t save to my device without paying for Splice Premium. I think it should be optional, you should give us the chance to either save and pay for the premium, or not use the premium selection so you can save. • I think that budding filmmakers should get to explore. Maybe special effects, 3D affects, I don’t know. A beginning course that advances gradually in the potential of their craft would profit. I know nothing about this, so I won’t tell you your business, but I’m just telling you what it looks like from the user’s perspective. Remember, creativity shouldn’t come at a price! Thanks for reading this! 😉

I think y’all can make this app better.. I really like this app. Its great for videos I make of trips I go on with my family and just fun vids here and there. There are a few things I think would make the app spectacular! Lately it has been really slow. If you sped it up that would make me want to use it more. Also, I have photos I put into a video that I had to delete because I didn’t have enough storage. Those photos are gone from the video and it would be great if they could stay in the video. I know it makes sense the way it is now, but I would probably give the app a better review if you fixed that. Another thing I would appreciate is if there wasn’t an add like thing every time I open the app about becoming a Splicer. It gets pretty annoying and I don’t really appreciate it. I would rather only have the crown symbol to click on if I wanted to become a Splicer. These are just a few modifications you could add to the app to make it better. Other wise I love the app and will continue using it.

Good but has its downs. This app has many great features such as text and zoom in animation. One feature I find it is missing is adding picture over video (a feature I need quite often). The layout of the app is quite simple and easy to navigate which makes it easier to use. Some other negatives would be of course the price of $2.99 a week. For me personally I’m okay with it right now because I don’t make videos frequent enough where the price becomes a problem, but eventually it will be for me. Another problem I face with this app is when I am exporting my video and it says it has “successfully exported” to my camera roll, but it does not. I would have to repeat the very long process about 3 times until it actually does. It becomes a problem especially with long videos taking more time to “process.” With all that being said it’s an okay app with a lot of good features and it’s pretty easy to use, besides the exporting problems. For the price point I would most likely not recommend it since I do have to use multiple apps to finished a video since this app is missing some features and problems with exporting doesn’t match its high price point.

great until .... I used to really love Splice. Whenever anyone asked for photo/video editing apps, I always recommended Splice. It was my favorite editing app until it started not cooperating with my phone. I have an iPhone 7. I know that compared to the newer models, it’s definitely not knew but there’s nothing wrong with it either. My phone is fine but it’s the app that is the problem. Every time I would go to edit a video clip, it would lag tremendously and eventually crash. I know it’s not my phone because other apps work fine. Why is Splice suddenly not working with my phone anymore? I’m still giving this app a rating of 5 stars because of how much I used to love it. I just wanted to take this opportunity to share my recent experience with the app. The developers might not even know that this was a problem. Hopefully this can be fixed soon! I don’t have any other video editing app that I enjoy as much as this one.

Best Video Editor ALL TIME even newbs. This is very user friendly and has an auto save feature so you never lose your work (as long as your phone doesn’t crash I think, but even then it may save) I have been using Splice for months and it has changed the way I thought about filming. Now I can film short clips through my day and edit as I go so I have a perfect video (made up of shorter clips strung together) for my viewers by the end of my day. No more filming all day and then going blank on how to edit because it was more intuitive and fluid editing one clip at a time and letting the auto save feature do its magic. Just pop in the clip, edit the clip and then shut the program. When you open Splice again you will be right where you left off to add your next clip and edit that one. Then close and when you film another short clip you can then add that, edit it right then when it is fresh in your mind and onward and upward. Good luck everyone

Hands Down the Best IOS Editor. 2022 Review Update The app keeps getting better and better but lately my videos are getting flagged on TikTok for music copyright violations. It’s the same when uploading to Facebook, the videos get restricted. I decided to write this review because I just got notified the app is changing from $2.99 to $4.99 a week. The subscription pricing is absolutely confusing. I would pay monthly or quarterly or yearly to save some money but nearly doubling the price is just getting greedy and I need to reconsider how badly I need the app now. I’m a Final Cut Pro X user and Splice has completely changed the way I produce content. It not only gets the job done fast but it’s intuitive. The latest revision changing from the GoPro version is the best yet. I’d still love a little more audio control to do split edits where I can lead the audio into a scene but for what it is it’s amazing and powerful.

One day amazing, the next the worst. This app can be simple and work wonders. But sometimes they try to change it and it only becomes worse. I don’t understand why they are trying to change the app instead of just working with the base and upgrading it instead. There is sometimes patches where things get really buggy and they become consistent bugs. Just this recent patch, had three bugs in a single day, that gave me an error and completely took away access to my work. I had to start over twice, spend 2 hours and here I am, back where I started today. Customer support is useless like any other company, just robotic responses that lead to… “I don’t know, they are working on it” trust me when I say I want this app to be the best because I love how easy it was, but dam they fight hard to make sure I can’t love it. P.S. I’m not a free user either, so Im paying my yearly subscription to beta test their patches. Last year though, I’m finding a new app.

Ughh, this APP will freeze and be unable to open😭. So, I’ve used this app quite a bit, that’s why it gets 2 stars. I was making a video that is supposed to be a minute and 30 seconds long. It had a lot of pieces to it. After scouring for the right content for hours and then cutting and placing and transitioning for a couple more hours- I finally have it where I’m happy, except I needed to replace one video and then bam it stops working. I try over 15 times to get in, restart the phone 7 times and nothing. I put on my girl boss pants because these people aren’t going to respond today- probably not tomorrow or who knows if they will respond! I do it again and go to another app to add text- THANK GOODNESS I DID THAT! Because the second video I made after I couldn’t get into the first video, isn’t working either!! NOW, all I get is ERROR messages with the crying face which was my face until I started to get livid. The annoying thing is, the last times it looked as though I was in the finish line of it loading and guess what the app closed- tried it again- closed- tried it again closed and you know the rest of the story.

Confused on why the new update got rid of the best features. This USED to be one of my favorite apps to use honestly. Especially because of the video quality and features. However, I’m completely confused as to why the developers got rid of so many key features that made this app so great. I just don’t understand it. Why would anyone think it’s a good idea to crop the videos in landscape mode so that only a very small portion of the full video is shown ? I really loved before that I was able to scale the video down to landscape mode without it cutting off the top and bottom or sides out of my videos. Now it’s like a bad zoom in shot smh. Also, getting to choose the video quality before a video was saved was what made me love this app. Because uploading to Facebook directly from my camera roll used to downgrade the quality so I’d use this app to better the resolution before uploading. Now the video quality looks kinda glitchy and just mediocre. Smh I really hope you guys listen to your consumers and place certain features back. This app has become quite hard to use now.

This makes everything so much easier!. If you want me to write a suggestion or point out some flaws, your out of luck! This app is absolutely perfect! It has tons of different effects to use, slow motion, intense editing of both video and audio, merging photos and different transitions and, well, you name it, it has it! It's also very easy to use, at most it would take a good 4 minutes to get the hang of, I don't write reviews often but this is worth sharing! And best of all, it makes uploading photos and videos as easy as a click of a single button! Thank you for making a great and well laid app such as this! Most of them are complicated, even if they do have a lot of features, but this one is so easy that you don't even need a tutorial for it, but it still gives you a quick, yet direct and easy to comprehend one! Please get this app! It has no ads! Works perfectly! And is the best video editor on the App Store! 4.92/5 stars!! Bravo!!

Going in Wrong Direction!. I really don’t like this layout. Not intuitive to me compared to how prior update was. That music note on the timeline when greeted out/black and white u can’t even tell that’s a music note for the audio/sound. I don’t like how I don’t get exports quality options anymore either. No more ambient music either is lame. And why would the designers think it was a good idea to change the word used for “ambient” if a category with this new update has similar type music. This is confusing to use compared to prior update for sure. See what happens after I use more, but pay attention to feedback from others. I am a power user and have talked about this app for years now and been using from day 1. I got more people using this app than u may ever realize. I thought iPhone workshops in Hawaii for years and was featured on shot on iPhone campaign with my iPhone images. Just saying I’m a power PRO user and love the app, but sometimes I feel people change their apps layout completely when in reality refining what was already there probably would have been a lot better. Aloha

Has potential, not great. This app has potential, but it has a major flaws also. First the developers need to give the option to be able to turn my iPad into landscape mode so that I can use this program while also using my Apple magic keyboard. Currently it works only in portrait mode. The second bug I’ve been having is every time splice updates as an app, it logs me out, And I can’t figure out how to log back in, which means I lose all of my projects that I’ve worked on so far. This is terrible! This must be fixed immediately. Also, the developers are too pushy with leaving a review. If you push too hard, your reviews are going to be lower because I don’t like to be bugged when I’m working. I already pay a subscription to use your app. Don’t keep having reminders to leave reviews. This is costing you. The more that I write, the more irritated I’m getting. I think I’m gonna start looking for another video editing app for the iPad, this is not worth it. Bummer.

Thanks To Splice I Created A YT Series Called The Network. I’ve had Splice for a little over a year and I absolutely love this app. It has all the basic functions you need to make a great vlog/talk show/game show/youtube series/films. Not only that but it lets you save in 4k so your videos look beautiful on a nice smart TV. It has minor glitches where the app closes out but when you open the app again. Everything that you did is still in place which for me is great because I'm making about 25 min videos. Also, the developers of this app are constantly updating Splice. So bugs and glitches are really minor. At this point, the app just needs MORE EFFECTS WAY MORE EFFECTS, MORE TRANSITIONS, & MORE SOUND EFFECTS... If it's not asking for too much maybe we can get a split-screen where they're two different videos going at one-time side by side. I want to Thank Splice because The Network would not be possible without it. But besides having more effects, transitions, & sound effects it’s still reigns supreme.

Made my little sisters day. This was my second year in college and I was not going to be able to travel home to be there for my younger sisters 6th birthday. She said every year she was gonna tell one college student to invite as many of their college friends as she wanted, and this year it was “my turn”. I was so eager to come home and bring some friends along, but unfortunately I was unable to make the trip... however, with this app, I was able to make a very special video showcasing all the amazing people who I would have brought home screaming “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ... !!!” It was great! Not only was this my first time ever making a video and cutting it and putting it together, but honestly my first time even thinking that there were apps for stuff like this! This app is SO easy to use and follow instructions to make pretty “professional” looking videos! Thank you developers, not only have you made this great app, but it’s also entirely free. You have made both my day, and my little sisters!

Fun app. Great for what I use it for. (Silly and funny vine type videos) It has certain other features I do not use because to be 100% honest I don't exactly know HOW to properly use them. However, for what I use it for this app works great and I very much enjoy using it. After a long period of working with this app I'm updating my previous review.. I've taken off a star because this app crashes numerous times on me during editing. It kicks me out, and I have to reopen the app and go all the way back to find the exact spot I was editing. It doesn't just do it every now and then when I'm using it. It crashes EVERY TIME I'm working on ANY project, and it doesn't just crash once. The longer I'm working on a project the more it crashes. I am leaving three stars because I still feel this is the best and easiest app I've ever used for editing videos and making projects of all kinds. I would give a star back if only all of the annoying bug issues were fixed and the app was updated so it would stop crashing and kicking me out every other five minutes while I'm working on my projects! Please fix this issue!!

Amazing for compiling photos. God, where to start! I’ve had this app for about a year now and it works amazingly well for being free. I used to use IMovie, but this one had the option to A) mass disable ken burns, and B) set a standardized time for the photos. In the more recent update, that went away, though and now I have to go through and set the times for all my photos by hand. I still love this App though. I like that you can disable the splice logo at the end, most companies would have made you pay to be able to do that. The creators are always happy to help and the help feature does an amazing job of showing how things work. Summary: amazing app, great creators, only complaint is you can’t set a standard time. Edit: recent update really messed everything up. I understand that you need to make a product by making this app, but a lot of the features that I liked were taken out... it's a lot harder to set up photo compilations, and at this point, IMovie is less buggy...

Amazing App! But could add more features.. I think that splice is an amazing app! There are NO ads! It helps you make very amazing videos including, over 20 genres of music with over 50 songs to choose from. By the way, the audio is very awesome! You can make titles for the videos and you can cut, and trim the video. The titles can be an intro or an outro. Use these to make words in between the videos or before and after. You can even do a voice over! Voice overs are when you can talk during the video to explain something, or just talk. Maybe you are reacting to something! But I do think that splice could add more features. Maybe adding words on the video. Emojis, anything. I would suggest making a side button saying “ add pictures “ so you can add an picture to the video or something like that. Splice is a great app for YouTubers to! That is kinda why I downloaded this app. I definitely request this app for you. It has never let me down. Thank you for listening!

Good but... Splice is an amazing video editing app that has many great features. It even has music available to you. While yes you can only use most of these features with a subscription it’s a great app. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could but not 4 or 5. This is to the reason as transparent background photos don’t stay transparent. As in when I add a transparent background photo as an overlay a black screen appears with it. This has been very annoying. While the mask and cropping it down help, you are still left with an unwanted back circle or box. I have tried several ways to export the transparent photo and even different things on the app it’s self. However, nothing has worked so far. Splice has many great features but that one is a dealbreaker for me. If this one thing was fixed for transparent photos, videos/animations, definitely 5 stars. Or even if someone just gave me a solution. In conclusion, a great video editing app. While yes there are subscriptions, if you use the app enough, definitely worth it.

An answered prayer to a tech challenged individual. Lots of features that are easy to use! Editing is pretty quick, and simple; unlike some software that is cumbersome. I did watch a ‘How to’ video from Brant_Moore to help me figure out some features. His video was greatly helpful. (This is a review of the updated version.) I knew nothing of video editing and was able to add text, cut, splice. The feature I am finding challenging is splicing. When I sliced an additional video, I couldn’t splice at the very beginning, I had to add, splice and move. Also, the my text became tethered to the new video and then all my text blurbs were off. When adding the video, the text did not stay with the timing of the original video. Instead it is on its own timeline. So, when the video was spliced in the beginning, the timeline for the text didn’t accommodate that change. Right now, I saved my original video edits as a separate file and then I’m going to create an entirely new project and splice the original edited footage with the footage I wanted to add. Maybe I’m doing this incorrectly?

I love this app buuut.... Splice is the only video editing app I use on my phone and I plan to keep it that way. I downloaded 3 editing apps and 2 of them kept asking me to pay money before I even got to *look* at the screen, except 1 of them. That app was Splice and I don’t regret ever downloading it. With it I created a video that I never thought I was capable of, and it was all thanks to the app’s easy controls. There’s just one problem I’m experiencing with the app, and that’s actually exporting the videos. I made a video that’s 12:30 minutes and whenever I try to export/download it, the app says “Sorry, there was an error” and I have the option to retry or cancel. I made and 5 second long video to see if I would have the same problem but it downloaded pretty quickly, so if your thinking about using this app, I recommend not making too long a video, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to download it. I’m really bummed out about not being able to export the video I spent hours on but other than that this app is all I could ever want and more! 😊
