Used to work great but no more. I have sent in several feedback responses indicating that there is a problem in the app with editing the price per gallon when at a station while entering a Fuel Log. When I first downloaded the app, everything worked fine. If I got an instant discount at the pump, say $.20 off per gallon, the app let me edit the price to reflect what I ACTUALLY paid for gasoline, not the current reported price. Now, it will NOT let me change this, no matter how many times I try. This problem gas persisted for quite some time now and the only response I’ve received is that my phone is running an older operating system, which is BS. The current iOS is 13.6.1, which has been on my phone since the version was first available. How many times does a person have to comment/complain about a problem with this app before it gets fixed?? Its to the point where I don't even want to use Gasbuddy anymore to help keep track of and calculate the miles per gallon. After I post this tonight, I’m signing out. If you can’t address an issue in a timely fashion, then whats the point in using the app? Maybe I’ll check back in a year or so and see if you’ve fixed the issue.

GasBuddy tries to be your friend. Outside of GasBuddy ‘s control, likely, are the restrictions encountered when using a promised discount at a service station along the route. Most of the time, we are unable to fill our RV’s sizable gastank because the purchase is limited. At $75 or so, it cuts you off and leaves you with the decision to continue to fill up at full price - and using a different payment method - or venture to the next ‘deal’ down the road. This is strange because GasBuddy appears to be targeting RV-ers and the likes. We’re not using this service to fill up our smart cars and save a dime or two, we signed up because we use serious gas and hope for significant discounts. Nothing is more disappointing than being promised a ‘deal’ only to be cut short. Hopefully GasBuddy will be able to address this issue because if not, better deals currently available like Murphy’s and even Kroger have no restrictions and don’t shut off the pump in a manner that’s not unlike being flashed the middle finger.

Works but confusing UI and watch app is poor. The fundamentals of the app work, but the UI is a bit confusing. For instance, access to favorite stations is not intuitive and should be more prominent (should be one of the primary navigation buttons at the bottom). I live near a river and the distanced-based metrics are nearly useless. Sure, the station with the cheapest gas is 2 miles away, as the crow flies. But it’s 25 miles away in terms of driving distance because I have to go across a bridge to cross the river and the bridge is several miles away in the opposite direction. The ideal would be to interface with a mapping app (eg. Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze, etc.) to figure out “closeness” based on driving distance and time. Without that sort of capability, favorites are critical. Then, I can use favorites to override the app’s naive, as-the-crow-flies distance algorithm. The watch app would be very useful as a quick way to see this info, but it unfortunately only shows stations by the naive distance algorithm and has no ability to view favorites. Fix these problems and it would be 4 or 5 stars.

GasBuddy. I’ve always liked this APP, but over the last year or so alone is all, I’ve learned to love it. It’s just gotten better and better every time I use the APP it seems like. It’s really grown a lot since it first started way back then, and there’s just so many things you can do on the APP now and they’ve turned it into an amazing APP all the way around. It’s almost addicting in a way, but not in a bad way at all. It gives you a good and also a very fun chance to win gas money and get points for entries to win free gas, or get gas % or gas $ back when you purchase anything from certain stores listed on the APP. There’s a good amount of stores to pick from actually. So whenever you make a purchase at that store through that APP, you get gas money no matter what. They also send you a free card to use when you actually get money built up on that card, and you’ll be able to use it just like debit card or credit card and just swipe it at the gas station pump instead of your regular bank card that you may have. It’s pretty cool actually and it really helps if you actually try it out. 5 stars all of the way.

I actually love this app it ain’t what it used to be. I gave you 2 stars because when I can get it to work it works but just okay. I’m using a iPhone 10 with the maximum amount of memory available and about 80% of the time I cannot get the app to open. That’s very frustrating as my wife drives most of the time and we both love getting prices sometimes we used to pull into stations and get the info just for fun. At first I thought it was just my phone but not so as virtually all my other apps open fine. Also when I shutdown everything and reboot my phone still it doesn’t work. Please fix this as I’ve been a user from like the very earliest days of your app and it’s a concept I fully believe in. Just yesterday I got gas a full $.30 cents a gallon cheaper than in my neighborhood and not at a discount station. At the station people were blowing their horn for me to move it took so long for the app to come up. I was persistent and parked and waited until I could get the app to work. I’ve got over 4 million points from posting prices help me out here. Anyway, when the app does open I still love it but it hangs up and doesn’t immediately post my changes even when it doesn’t hang up. I now write down prices and update from home. Fix your app guys there are customers missing out here.

Great app/concept except for one issue. I have been a GasBuddy member since the app first appeared on the AppStore. I also had signed up for the GasBuddy card as one of the pilot customers. I loved it but do not use the card anymore because of issues I had years ago with promos. I never got them so I stopped using the card. This was and is a good idea (to crowdsource gas prices). I loved the addition of other features, especially of keeping up with fill-ups. Every time I fill up at a gas station, I record it in the vehicle section of My Car. My most pressing issue is that it has gotten messy. I only keep records on one car but my car appears 4 or 5 times and the records are spread over the 4 or 5 iterations of “my car.” I see no easy way to combine them but to add and delete them one by one. Since I’m a long time user, this would take too much time and effort. It seems that every time there is an update, it doesn’t recognize the previous entry of “my car” and forces one to add your car once again. Please fix this or have some way to combine everything into the same “car.” It’s a bit annoying when you only have one vehicle recorded but have multiple listed.

Not showing all gas stations any more!! Updated::. I have loved and still love using this app. Great concept and especially when they started linking your actual bank account card and being able to use discounts I’ve really been diligent to use and tell others! My only complaint is that in the last month or so the Sam’s club and Costco gas stations have disappeared from the lineup of gas stations! I have a membership to Sam’s club and even though I may go there and not use my gas buddy card if it’s cheaper it isn’t always cheaper! I get it that they don’t give anything to gas buddy but I thought this was crowdsourcing type app. Please return the “non-participating” gas buddy apps back to the app!!!! I’d hate to have to go to another source and for this app to lose business. Update::: I checked back on the app after downloading g other apps very inferior to this one and I had turned the filter on to only show GasBuddy stations. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ New users,Please watch out for this and don’t make the same mistake I did!!

GasBuddy Seems To Like Hiding Info From Its Customers. GasBuddy has to be one of the most frustrating companies I’ve done business with. Easily 50% of the time that I fill up my car, I get a discount for less than I’m supposed to. I check and double check the math to make certain that I did the math correctly and used the correct figures and and it’s wrong all the time. The receipts fail to give you the exact amount of the cost/gallon you were charged for each transaction. It will tell you how much you saved but not how much you were charged/gallon. Also, you cannot see how many gallons are left for the month of the 40 gallons/month you get a month at the $0.20/gallon discount, so sometimes you do not get the discount amount you were expecting because you allegedly already used all of your 40 gallons at $0.20 off/month. GasBuddy says on its Customer Service outgoing message that your monthly 40 gallon balance is clearly shown on the receipts, however I have checked both the paper receipt from the gas station, as well as the receipt emailed to me from GasBuddy itself, and neither receipt shows the balance. I checked all over the app too. The app does not show you your monthly 40 gallon @ $0.20 off/gallon balance anywhere. I suppose you just have to guess how many gallons you used each month so far to even predict if you will get a $0.20 discount or not. GasBuddy is a constant frustration in these (avoidable) respects.

Scam. When I first started using gas buddy I was just using it to find low gas prices. After doing that for awhile I decided to get the card and link it to my checking account to start saving 5 cents a gallon. Then deal alerts came along and things began getting frustrating. I would activate the deal, use my gas buddy card and make it to the station within the 4 hours required, only to just receive the usual 5 cents off. Try to contact customers service, you can forget about that. Only available through email and you get an automated response telling you how to use the deal alerts and then they close out the request for help tickets. Only one time out of the many did I finally receive to correct discount and it took me replying to 5 automated emails continually complaining that my problem still has not been resolved before I was credited 99 cents. Now starting March 1st the are going to reduce the saving to 3 cents a gallon, but increase the deal alerts that never work. Use at your own risk, there is no customer support with this company.

Flaws Needing Attention. The concept of this app I love as it lets consumers aware of the best gas prices in the area. Your prediction option ALWAYS suggest that we hold off in buying as gas prices will go down tomorrow. A senseless option as it's not accurate. Since last update this app is difficult to open before closing completely. Once open have experience many "Something went wrong" and does accurately tally entered posts or allow you to enter posts due to the app flaw. Turning into a nuisance to use the app. App has difficulty in finding gas stations that I am at. Some gas stations are no longer listed yet still operating. Mind boggling My assessment of flaws needing attention continue. I love the concept of this app but since the start of using this app to today the system is boggled down and oh so slow. Stations will have been passed by to report price updates as the app is still concentrating on updating one station you already drove by...the app will send message “something went wrong” or cut out and prematurely close. Really frustrating to the point I don’t use the app as frequently as I did in the earlier years.

I wish that my card worked. I really wanted to give a better rating. I remember when Gas Buddy launched and the creator did a segment plugging the app. The idea and intentions of the creator are well. I just wish the card worked as well as any debit or credit card works. Sure there are issues here and there with bank cards, but more often than not my gas buddy card doesn’t work. It’s disappointing because I know it doesn’t have to be like this today. I hope it’s only me or just people who have this problem and the card works smoothly for as many users as possible. I did try and contact gas buddy about my problem but I don’t think they understood or I was clear or maybe one of them annoying customer and subscription killing chat bots tried to answer my question because they answered an unrelated question based on some similar words I used. I try not to think about the savings I am missing out on and genuinely disappointed. I gave up even using it and did not want to. I was pulling for gas buddy to be a success. I was even entering gas prices while my card wasn’t working until the last time when I entered the price an hour later when I got home and because i made the decision to share my location with gas buddy and whoever they sell it to, the app knew that I wasn’t anywhere near the gas station and doubted my entry. 😞

Confused. I downloaded GasBuddy not knowing anything about the app or the GasBuddy Card. No matter how many times I opened the app I was always confronted with messages telling me I can save more by getting the GasBuddy Card. So that’s exactly what I did. I ordered the card and linked my bank account. It told me I needed to confirm 2 small deposits when I received my card. I finally get my card and quickly open the app to activate it but it never gave me the option to confirm the 2 small deposits it did however tell me my card was activated and linked to my bank account. So I am really confused. Why was I not given the option to verify the 2 small deposits firstly? Secondly is my card really activated and connected to my bank account? I will be so enraged if I get to the gas station and it declines my so called activated GasBuddy Card. I also agree with other reviewers that the GasBuddy Card needs the chip and contactless pay. It’s not only more convenient but is also an added security measure. I haven’t gotten the chance to really use the GasBuddy App or Card as of yet but will update my review based off of my experience.

this app has gone downhill recently. I have been using this app for years and it has gone downhill. The ads have increased over the last year or two and slow down the results and get in the way from being able to read the results - it’s now a royal pain! And even worse last week there was a change wherein the find gas results have no direct correlation to your exact location when selecting “current location”. The results are in the same town but not the stations closest to you. If you select the map view in lieu of the list, the dot for your location is correct so my phone is not giving bad information. Current location had been working well for years and now it does not. It also appears that the designers have changed the results so some stations don’t show up when you use “current location”. It makes me think that they may be receiving money from certain brands to make them show up in searches and are not showing others. If you use map view and zoom in far enough the missing stations usually show up but you have to work for it. I would say the best thing GasBuddy could do is to revert back to an older version that works better!

Can’t use the card at the pump or in store at most stations. I used to use GasBuddy ALL THE TIME, but now I only occasionally use the app to search for the best price. The card doesn’t have a chip, so no longer works at most pumps. I tried to use it inside once, so I could get the special extra-cents-off “deal,” but it wouldn’t work inside the store, either. This coupled with the difficulty finding a way to contact GasBuddy, and the need to get a new card each year that doesn’t automatically come to you and you don’t get a reminder email or a link to click on to renew, I rarely use it anymore. The whole Gas Back thing doesn’t really work for me because it requires me to SPEND money that I otherwise would probably not have spent. My time is a commodity and there’s precious little of it, and I really don’t have the time to go through the GasBuddy gas back “deals” before I shop for something I need. Most of my needs are pretty basic anyway, and the “deals” are for things I don’t need or wouldn’t use, PLUS I don’t shop online much. So, I’m very disappointed because GasBuddy used to save me money, and now it really doesn’t do anything but direct me to a station that is a cent or two lower per gallon of gas.

Inaccurate info and. I tried it once. It took me to a gas station that was under construction. The info can’t be accurate. Follow up - I decided to give GB a second chance. In the search. In my search, GB highlighted a station on the way that was offering a discount. I accepted the offer and proceeded to drive to the station. Once I paid and while still at the station, I immediately sent GB a picture of the receipt with all the required info. After a week, I never received the credit. I called the gas station, and they said they don’t have anything to do with providing the credit - GB issues the credit. I tried to contact GB, which is not easy since they don’t have a phone number or email. I needed to file a complaint on line, which I did. I immediately received an automated response, saying my issue was being investigated. A week later, they sent my a follow up email to ask if I was still having issues and if they needed to look into the problem. Clearly they had not done anything to investigate the problem or resolve the issue.

Zero stations. I just downloaded the app; I live in Phoenix, the 5th largest city in the Lower 48(and outlying 2) which, if I may be so bold, has a gas station at nearly every major intersection, if not two or three or four sometimes, suffice it to say, thousands of stations. When I make the search parameters to levels that should return thousands of options, I’m shown ZERO. NONE. NADA. LESS THAN ONE. The app had 42k reviews and I’m pretty sure it showed a 5-star rating, which is hard to do with 42,000 diff ppl, but how can this be possible if there are zero stations shown? I’ll tell ya why- it’s all B\_/|_|_$#;+! Complete fabrication of the review platform and the owners who have obviously put a lot of work into cultivating a lie upon the World to see, tho that work is just as empty as their souls are, and hopefully their bank accounts soon. Please, do not subscribe to this farce. Do not validate the worst the innerwebs can offer. I’m not sure why this can’t be regulated. There should be recaptcha-based review platforms so these charlatans can’t prey upon the ignorant public-at-large, -small, -infinitely small and at the same time -infinitely large too. I hope they know shame and live the life of an empty balloon.

Desperately needs Top Tier search filter. Wonderful crowd sourced program. However, many major vehicle brands recommend using ONLY Top Tier certified fuels. We need a filter available to search only for these certified fuels. Each of these automakers recommends the use of Top Tier Detergent Gasoline in their owner's manuals. Top Tier Detergent Gasoline and Top Tier Diesel Fuel are performance specifications and trademarks designed and supported by several major automakers. BMW, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Navistar, and Audi support the gasoline standard, while General Motors, Volkswagen, Detroit Diesel, and Navistar support the diesel standard (as of 2018).Top Tier fuels must maintain levels of detergent additives that result in a higher standard of engine cleanliness and performance as compared to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirement. In addition, Top Tier fuels may not contain metallic additives, which can harm the vehicle emission system and create pollutants. As of 2018, Top Tier Detergent Gasoline is available from 61 licensed retail brands and Top Tier Diesel Fuel is available from 5 licensed retail brands.

Awesome lil app ‘til 2023. Data could be made better by.... Great app ‘till 2023. I’m not sure what happened but it’s total crap now: they’re not showing most stations – they only show ones that pay fees of some kind, I guess, or are they getting dramatically fewer price updates from fellow users, or are they throwing them away way faster? in any case it’s really bad! Old review: ALSO, why don’t they keep track of which stations accept credit cards for gas? I mean I know most Arcos r like that but not all and it would be super helpful!! Did they take away this feature!? -2 ⭐️. And, I just want gas prices and all the new extra features I am not interested in mean more clicks to get gas prices. So -2 more ⭐️, till I can again set it to zero clicks to gas prices near me. Also, show estimated price when no recent data is available. Stations generally have a predictable mark-up over competitors’ and/or wholesale prices. Use grey and ~ to denote when this is done. +4 ⭐️ for this! 🤩 OLDER ISSUE- HANDLED BETTER NOW: Great app. But, data could be made better by a)making it clearER to us that CREDIT price is what is to be entered and what is shown, AND/OR B) have users pick cash or credit when entering prices. Users near me USUALLY enter CASH prices.

Scam and a rip off!. Thought this would be a great way to save money on gas. We use A LOT of gas between all the cars we have and places we go. Especially hoped it would help me save money on diesel for my truck. I got the card and connected it to my bank. I went to use the card, however, and it made the pump stop after only 9 gallons!! I had used some of my Marathon points to get 50 cents off a gallon and only got 9 gallons!! Finally had to move to a different pump. Then it stopped after only 4 gallons!! It wasn’t my truck, it wasn’t the pumps - I used my regular bank card the third time and was able to finish filling the remaining 7 gallons of diesel. The Gas Buddy card cost me my 50 cent discount! And I have emailed customer service and have received absolutely no response whatsoever except “Do you still need help? We are experiencing a delay due to multiple inquiries” I BET!! Probably other people having trouble using their card!! Save your time and your money and just sign up for Marathon Rewards, Fuel Rewards from Shell, and whatever other gas station around you offers fuel discounts!!

Service takes too long to set up!!. So I got the Gasbuddy card and wanted to start using it for savings as soon as I got it. I was very very hesitant to even sign up as I was skeptical as to whether or not it would work. So I get my card in the mail and immediately went to open the app and activate only to find out my account was not verified. I’ve used several apps that wanted to link to my account and the moment they were linked I was verified so I was super sketched out when this wasn’t the case and was told to wait 4 business days to verify and activate. I waited over a month and kept getting the same response from support until finally Cailin a manager with gas body reached out and said the account had become “frozen” and that she unfroze it and once a charge of .01 would appear and I’d be able to activate. WRONG!! So I go and wait the 2 business days for the charge to appear and process and still there is no sign that it was verified on the app and I’m still unable to activate. I immediately wrote to support about my new frustrations with my needs still not being met! I’m waiting on a response but now I’m even more doubtful that this service will work at all! I’ve never been so annoyed to actually ask for my penny back ! Like really!

Thank you!. I just want to write a quick note of thank you to the developers of this app. You were a real lifesaver this past week down here in South Florida during hurricane Irma. I was frozen in terror of whether not to get on the road with the stories of all the gas outages. I have a toddler and couldn't imagine driving around town looking for stations and waiting in long lines. Once I read about your app and website online, I downloaded it. Within five minutes I found a gas station that still had gas and not too long of a line. I was able to make my drive up Orlando a little less scared knowing that I had you guys on my side. As soon as I got to my evacuation point, I used the app again to find gas before the storm hit so I was immediately able to get back on the road afterwards to get home. I can't say thank you enough! During an incredibly anxious and scary time, you made things a little bit easier and that means the world to me.

Love the concept but. I have had this app for about 6 months, I had a similar experience like one other review I read, customer services nonexistent. I had to make a ticket for not receiving the discount in the beginning of June and every five or six days I get an email back saying they have a high ticket volume, so I am to type above A specific area in the email and respond saying if my ticket was taken care of or not. Of course it isn’t taken care of they’ve never given me the discount….. why continue to send the messages? Hoping I wouldn’t respond and the ticket would close….. I mean it’s pennies on a dollar for the discount I get and everyone in the household has to have their own card to even use them to be useful because there is a dollar limit on the amount you can fill up…. It’s really not worth asking for the discount to be applied but now it’s the principle of saying it will be given and it wasn’t. How is that helpful at this point? I’m very close to finding another app that would work better for discounts.

Terrible. Signed up for this and got my card in the mail. When I went to activate my card the app would send me an email link to click on. Each time I did (cause I tried multiple times) the link sent me back to the App Store to download the app I already had installed. Frustrated by this, I called the customer service line.... it’s 100% automated. Meaning, you only get to talk to someone if you leave a message and wait around till they decide to call you back. There’s a number in the app and a different number on the card... guess what? Leads you to the same automated system where you can’t reach a real person. So good luck getting any help there. I also sent an email, to which, I never received a reply. Brand new card and I already want to throw it in the trash. Companies like this really need to take more stock in their customer service because what I encountered is a joke. I’m sure if I could actually use the service as it’s intended it would be great but sadly whoever structured this company clearly has no real consideration for its customers and the lack there of with offering actual customer service. Thoroughly dissatisfied. I hope more people read this review and proceed with caution before signing up to this service.

Best app!. I use this app more than any other. It has gotten painfully slow. It is also unfair that some users have more opportunities to get daily points than I and others (I assume). How can I improve my ranking if I can't get credit for all of my reporting? Also, when I update a gas station, the updates are ignored. That is annoying because I stop and take the time to update station info, only to find on my next visit that nothing has changed. Do they need 100 reports before accepting an update? Lately, some stations, that I drive into on a regular basis and were included before, don't come up in your app. I try putting in the address...nothing. This happens a lot. Before, when temporarily closed for renovations, it still showed up On the list. Now I can't get them on the screen. I tried customer service but got no response.

Don’t do any memberships!. I’ve been on a memberships for over a year. They have charged me $5 every month since I’ve started. I email after I get billed every month to take my membership off. A bot will answer and tell me how to report a loss card every time and I emailed again and again. They saving I make is less than $5 a month and therefore I am at a loss. GasBuddy is practically stealing money from me. They even messes up and double charged me 40$ twice once when I got gas them another time because they said I didn’t have the money in my bank and I had to pay an extra $10 fee. I had emailed them and said I’m not repaying my gas when I had proof it went through and then a fee and told them to cancel my card but when I looked at my bank they charged me the fee and to repay gas that I had already payed for and on top still didn’t cancel my card. That was months ago. I’ve been still trying to email them but to no prevail. Stay way from this app until they can real people and be able to solve their problems. I don’t want other people losing money and getting their money stolen from these people.

It does not work as they say. First, after getting my card activated I went to use it for the first time with the proper discount activated through the GasBuddy app and the card was denied 4 times, send a message to GasBuddy customer service and no solution. Second the drive offer that gives you Teo extra cents per galon does not work neither, it says tha my GasBuddy app is not allowed always in the location services, but it is. I’m conclusion, I was very excited about using this app and saving on gas but it looks like just another simple company trying to use a bunch off advertisements (aka marketing) to sell our information, I’m tired of being treated as a product. I will use it for one more week because I believe everybody deserves a second opportunity, but if I find more problems or false promises, I will delete it forever.

GasBuddy is not supporting iPad. I have reported problems to this company for months, but the issues still have not been resolved. Now with their new "challenges" the company has decided to leave the iPad users out of the "challenges". Also, if one was interested in getting their points which are used to try to win a free gas card, forget it as I found that they never gave me all the points I have earned. Even told them about it, but adjustment as of today, has not been made. Prices can be over 24 hours old. Why? Because when you use your iPad to post a price the price is not updated promptly. I have seen it take 12 or more hours for my prices to be updated. And, I think some people are just posting prices just to get points and not really seeing the prices at the stations. Ran my own test and saw the same old price being posted at the staion to the entrance to my development. I did not update to the price just to see what would happen. If my freshly posted prices are not showing up promptly, then how reliable can this app be for finding where the lowest gas price is? I don't like to do bad reviews, but when a company just does not seem to care what else can I do? Yes, I am not going to use the app starting day. Might check it out again a six months to see if the company has fixed their many issues.

Location setting discrepancy. When I logged in using my Apple login private relay GasBuddy asked for my location setting preference. I selected only ‘while using the opened app,’ not the ‘always’ option. I went into the app’s setting menu and where it listed the location setting it showed ‘Always.’ I clicked on it which sent me to iPhone settings location and that showed what I originally selected as ‘while using app’. I then changed that setting trying all the others ‘ask next time’, ‘never’ and then ‘always’. Then each time GasBuddy app’s location preference correctly showed my iPhone’s setting. Thus, it looks like when logging in at least the first time on my new iPhone or even when creating an account the app is able to ‘Always’ access my location even though I selected something else. Will iPhone’s location setting override the app? Is this intentional on GasBuddy’s part? I don’t know but I’m skeptical and reported it to Apple. I tried the app a few yrs ago and immediately after (less than 5 mins) giving them my phone number I got many spam text msgs not relevant to GasBuddy and still do. Rarely did before. Heads up and be forewarned.

Scam. Simply stated, this company is a scam. I made my first online purchase at Walmart, after clicking on the “deal” link that’s in the app. Presumably, the idea is that as long as you use the link and complete your purchase online, they will give you 4% “gas back” on your purchase that can be redeemed at the pump. I spent over $500 on tires, and submitted my proof as requested (email confirmation for purchase being the same as on file with gas buddy acct, order number, etc). Took 3 days for a response and it was quick and rude when I received it. “Thanks for the email” followed by telling me pickup orders aren’t eligible for gas back, as well as saying I should check the fine print (which I carefully read the disclosures before I completed my purchases and nowhere does it say your choice of delivery or pickup affects anything). I work in banking so disclosures are everything to me because I see people all the time have their expectations not met because they never read the disclosures they agreed to. If I had paid for the premium membership, I’d be even more annoyed because it was something I paid for to be treated as such, like we are bothering them for asking to hold up their end of what they are promising. But since it is free, I will be simply removing my bank account from the gas buddy card and going back to using my fuel rewards card at Shell stations like I used to. Not worth the hassle. At all.

Hardly user friendly hardly worth the effort. Followed the initial instructions. Verified the small deposits in my bank. Card arrived. Tried to activate card. Error. Sent request for support. Solution: enter banking info again and wait “x” days for deposits to then verify. Meantime: I have a card in my possession. All I wanted to do was make use of saving money at the pump. At this rate I may as well not bother at all. Total time wasted on this app: 3 weeks. Also there is NEVER anyone “free” to take your call should you have a question ( like mine ) about setting up, or anything else for that matter. As loyalty bonus and payment cards go this one is pretty shoddy. Update: even premium membership month to month doesn’t get anything by way of rapid or transparent support. You can call the number all you want and still get an automated message to leave your name and email?? And someone will return your call... if you actually need to use what you pay for you’re pretty much SOL. The “offers” are for online only purchases. So if you use your VISA card anywhere, for example , it has to be online to get the added bonuses. They have been rolling out forever some winsome ideas that on paper look great but have yet to manifest - parking , car detailing , oil changes - how about you get customer service right first and then work from there ?

Like it a but could use improvements. Update again 2/8/23: very frustrated it doesn’t tell about ethanol fuel. Drive all over looking for non ethanol fuel. Exit numbers on interstates would still be helpful! Update: it would be nice to know if the fuel has ethanol or not. Exit numbers on the map would still be extremely helpful. Love this app for finding fuel prices but some added features would improve it significantly. Improvements I would make are: 1) It would be very helpful if it showed exit #"s for interstates (especially for times when location services was not working) 2) If it showed wether the stations were truck & trailer / RV accessible & if they had lanes for such or just for semi's. (We ended up wasting time stopping at stations that we couldn't get our truck & trailer into or that was really only for semi's which was inconvenient & we got charged extra road tax on.) 3) If prices were to show weather it was cash or charge or both. For using with a car only, it is great but exit #'s would still be great.

Keep up with the times. GasBuddy was and is still a great concept, and I was happy using it once upon a time - when gas was cheaper and they hadn’t “sold out”. Times change. As they became more popular, it seems the discounts became less focused on fuel savings and more focused on cash back to spend in stores (I.e. sponsored advertising). But it came to a head with the record fuel prices and I gave up on them. At this point, saving less than $1 per fill up doesn’t help anyone like me. Maybe if you have a small car and/or don’t drive much, but to me it doesn’t help. The “premium” membership isn’t worth paying $10/month for either, because on average I’d only save about $7.50 in a month with their rate. Not worth it! But the final two nails in the coffin were this: Several times I had fueled up using my Pay with GasBuddy card on deal alerts and didn’t get the deal even acknowledged or applied in the app. CS was less than responsive about this, basically saying they didn’t know why it wasn’t working. Lastly and most importantly, they have a $75 daily spending cap and $300 weekly spending cap. I can’t even get 3/4 of a tank with $75 these days! They claim they can’t and won’t raise the cap for contractual obligations. Well, I’m gone. That does me no good. With the entire nation at $4.50+/gal now, y’all need to get with the times or lose once loyal customers such as myself.

Unreliable Crowd Sourcing. The app itself is designed very well. The user interface is attractive, it’s very easy to use, and it gives you filters to select what kind of gas you want and the map works seemlessly. Honestly the app would be above and beyond 5 stars if there was any accountability or way to report abusers of the app. For weeks now two people in my area have been consistently reporting the wrong diesel prices by 40-50 cents at a number of stations. One of them doesn’t even sell diesel and people are reporting diesel prices. There’s no way to report them, there’s no way to contact customer service listed anywhere in the app, and it just makes the whole entire app useless if you can’t trust people. This app was designed for people to help each other find gas prices by crowdsourcing the information and basically using an honors system in the hopes someone else would come behind and also verify the same price. If people are being dishonest or just ignorant and misreporting the price for the corresponding fuel type, then there either needs to be a way to flag it, or flag them for not knowing how to use the app properly. Either way, the app is great but the fact that the app doesn’t hold anyone accountable for false reporting makes it useless if people aren’t using it correctly.

Input. I really like this app for a long long time but lately you guys always update things changing the app now you’ve got things on here that has nothing to do with Gas Buddies this app is something to do with gas prices not my personal vehicle or car there is no need for all the updates that you guys do I’m constantly updating this app I like to report gas prices I really enjoy it but there is no reason for my personal vehicle to be on this app and all of the advertisements in between gas stations I just did an update this morning now I can’t Hardly find my points how to get on my points also leaderboard’s are for my area I have people on the leaderboard‘s that were in Chicago 500 miles from me that is not my area it’s not right or fair make this app fun once again to do as it used to be bring back the old Gas Buddies instead of adding all of this garbage to the app like your vehicle and other things there’s no need for it people want to check gas prices not their vehicle. Thank, snuffy 1963

Terrible user interface. I’m still frustrated with how hard it is to enter the price/prices for gas. Gas Buddy knows we are entering these prices while driving or sitting at a red light trying to enter them quickly, it should be so much easier to do. Not only that, but there’s ads. Even on top of the list of closest gas stations. So if you want to quickly tap on the closet top gas station, you may tap on the one which is advertised and 15 miles away. Remember, we are all doing this app a service really. Everyone is entering gas prices for free for them, and as a thank you and complication, they throw ads in there. They also need to do something about those who cheat and just update prices without seeing them. In my small town I’m one of the only one who actually updates prices. Even when the prices change, people are still updating the wrong price. There needs to be a closer distance limit. Or you should get more points when entering the price while you are very close to the station compared to being let’s say more than a quarter of a mile away. But seriously, get rid of the advertised gas station on top of the nearest list. And to top it off, now there’s a pop up window to link your card before you can access the app. No, I’m not linking anything and I’m not updating prices anymore either. So long.

Hidden Gem. I had this app installed on my phone for a solid 6 months and probably used it twice in that time. When I went to fill up my vehicle (2019 Mercedes-Benz sedan) last month and noticed I was paying nearly $70 for a single tank of gas, I had to find some solution that would work for my needs. This is when I realized the full feature set GasBuddy packs into their easy to use UI/UX. I have since been earning real cash back (gas back is the term - credits redeemed in fuel) every time I pay with my GasBuddy card and get to be apart of an actual community of members who are usually locals or people who visit the same gas stations you do. Can’t say enough good things about this app so far. I pay $9.99 (this is not required! The app is free and is useable without ever paying for anything). I wanted to opt-in on their $9.99/month plan for two reasons: 1. I wanted to have full access to the apps features and 2. The amount I save using this system far outweighs the fee I happily pay each month. I’ll pay for quality every time. This app is that. Try it out! Also, nobody asked me to write a review or had any impact on my opinion. GasBuddy included. I’m just here with the facts!

Use to like this app. I have had the GasBuddy app on my phones for many many years (with an iPhone 4) and it has worked great. In the beginning it was easy to use and throughout the years the developers kept adding new features to it. The Recall feature for your car, I don’t use. I think that it does not need to be there because I get those notifications from other sources. But this last update makes it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to find the gas station near you. I have updated the price of a 7-Eleven that was listed at the top of the list, but that station was 5 miles away. This app is supposed to be quick and easy to update and see where the cheapest gas prices are near you. It is not supposed to try to sell you other gas stations that ain’t even close to your location. One more thing. With all of these new features, this app takes forever to open, load, and update the locations of the surrounding gas stations. I wish this app was simple and easier to use like it use to be.

Beware of fake gas prices.. I have had very mixed results with Gas Buddy over the past two years of using it. The gas price can be easily manipulated by anyone (gas station owners?) who want to lure you in with a low gas price, only to find out that is far from the actual price at the pump. One gas station in particular showed their Gas Buddy price at 50 cents less than what the price at the pump was. I corrected the price on the app and left to find another gas station. A week later, same gas station, same scam. I pulled in and it was 50 cents more per gallon than what Gas Buddy showed. I noticed it was the exact same person who had “updated” the price the week before. Frustrating. I drive by this gas station all the time so I thought I’d just see how often this happened. It was almost every day by the same person. There is no way to notify Gas Buddy when this happens and it has happened at several other gas stations as well… not just a few cents off, but significantly off. Gas prices fluctuate but not by 50 cents a day. Definitely room for some checks & balances on this app.

Doesn’t work well. I’ve used gas buddy online for years. Appreciated it about 80% of the time but some gas stations report their own prices and draw you in on a lie. Anyway, The site has been glitchy so I downloaded the app. I’ve tried to use it a few times since I downloaded it a day ago and it’s very glitchy, freezes up etc. I decided to figure out how to create an account and report price at a Sam’s that that’s easier today was listed as lower than it is this afternoon. Since my husband has an account I tried using his phone & app first but he said since he got the GB gas card they will not load Sam’s clubs for him anymore. So I went into my app and I’m not even a member/ contributor yet, and it refused to load Sam’s club. I typed Sam’s, selected the preloaded address from a list, and the app STILL won’t load it for me to select that I want to report a price. My husband said he thinks they only want to air gas stations now that take the GB credit card. So this app and website is now useless to me and those who want to find who has the cheapest gas in their area! I deleted the app from my phone.

Stop with the teen eye candy crap. Ver. 6.20.1 come on more dumb eye candy crap. Seriously. We don't need full screen animated graphics for entering points, we are not 12. Just simple positive feed back to let us know you got the prices is what is needed. The full screen and 1/3 screen black stuff is annoying and gets in the way when you sit at a corner trying to enter multiple stations pricing. Now you showing station prices with the $.05 off if we use the app for special deal except is NO BETTER then what I get on the card already and it taking up more screen space so I need to scroll LOTS MORE. I want option to turn it off. Same for locations that don’t honor the card as I don’t shop them already but somehow they get more screen space this more promotion. Way back on Ver 3 we could see 6-8 stations no problem now lucky if you see 4. Make a reporting persons job easier not harder and more time consuming. I want version 2.4 back it was so much simpler, efficient and easier to use. We used to have a setting that would take us directly to the station list we want it back. The home screen that shows 1 station and other stuff is really useless. The sorting option does not need to be a banner across the top of the station list ALL THE TIME. We want to see the stations so we can get pricing and enter pricing. Everything you do to take away from that is bad.

Totally Worthless!. Today August 28, 2022, for the first time I required Roadside Assistance as I had a dead battery and the company let me down big time. Gas savings is good but to guarantee Roadside Assistance when you’re stranded in a desolate location within the $9.99 per month fee and not being able to find my information even though I’m using the card on a regular basis is just absurd. First of all they couldn’t find my information in their system! then the representative asked me for a customer ID number which is not printed on the card that they give you and only listed within the app. I had a dead battery, a low phone battery and panic was setting in. The representative could not find my information even searching through my first or last name, phone number and address. After a lot of tinkering around, he said Yes! he found my information but that my membership did not have Roadside Assistance and asked me if I would like to use the pay per use service. WTH! I paid $9.99 per month membership fee and this is what I get? For anyone that’s planning to call Roadside Assistance through this company with a low phone battery and one that does not have the phone app Will not be able to get through the first step of finding the customer ID enhance will not be able to be provided Roadside Assistance. I immediately canceled my membership. Gas Buddy you scum bags! I will be doing a charge back for the entire year and there’s nothing you guys can do about it.

Scam. Waiting over a month for the card to show up. Bot emails. Find out today in order for a replacement I might have to pay a shipping fee. Seriously?! Bad business right there. Fishy. Punish members because GasBuddy can’t seem to properly mail out cards? Yeah thank goodness I was experimenting with the free membership and not paying for premium. Get it together GasBuddy or you’ll lose big time. I’ve seen reviews for the app where cards haven’t been received. Currently I save more money with Safeway gas rewards. You got competition. Update: still getting the run around. I’m being told to wait till July 5th, which is still part of the holiday meaning it won’t be delivered. I basically told them if I don’t have it by then or a few days after they can forget me requesting a replacement. I’ll be requesting to close my account and I will be leaving bad reviews as well as recommending people not use it. If I were paying for the premium I’d demand my money back and if they were giving me the run around I’d be going to my bank and claiming fraudulent charges for a product never received.

Terrible app. Used to be wonderful.. I have to agree with so many users who have posted negative reviews lately: this app has devolved into one of the worst apps ever. Too many ads. Please put static ads up. Not the animated ones that hijack your phone, obscure pertinent gas data, and eat massive battery power. The vast majority of users need to locate stations on the fly. Not sit in some parking lot scrolling through endless stupidity (ads, login requests, etc.) searching for the spot that shows gas stations and prices. Too many games/challenges/ads/extraneous junk cluttering up the app, which cause it to run slowly or crash. And what’s the deal with eliminating Sam’s Club prices? Ridiculous. I had one near me marked as a favorite, yet GasBuddy has deemed it not worth including. Let users make that decision. Your job is to include ALL stations. Users choose which to visit. Very sad. This used to be one app I used constantly. Please consider users’ needs when “improving” your app. This one hasn’t been improved in several years. It’s cumbersome, tedious, and time-consuming — a chore just to find the best gas prices. ☹️

Great App. This is one of the best apps that I use, I like to look at it before my wife and I go out for a day of shopping. This way I know where the best price for gas is in my area. Plus we use it when we are traveling as well. I wouldn't be with out this APP. I can't say that I like the latest update, it makes it harder to navigate from 1 location to the next. I don't understand what was wrong with the old App. Why don't you listen to what users tell you? You have taken a great App and turned into something one has to wonder why you have it on your phone. I can't enter a Sams Club location that I have on my I pod but can't get it on my I phone. What the hell have you guys done??? I still don't like your new format, but I still use it.I have been trying to get the Walmart station located in Henrietta New York back on my list but you guys fail to do so. It's a good thing i have it saved under favorites because that's the only I can get the prices when i need it. Get with it and fix your app.

New or unlisted stations. It’s way too hard to Add a station or edit a station, actually it’s impossible!! I find it impossible to add Diesel to stations that have diesel and get it to stay up. And it’s also impossible to list the cost of no ethanol fuel which I search for quite a bit. in my town I go to the trouble to make sure that the prices stay up but it’s a constant battle I can post them late last night and this morning half of them are gone. Why ? some of these stations only change their prices a few times a year only a couple of stations once or more than once a month. I love planning my route when I come back from California driving across the country around the gas stations. This last time most of the stations had no prices !! stop dropping the prices !! my gas buddy card has been on the way for almost 2 years when is it gonna show up !! yes I should’ve asked to get one resent but you can’t do that on the app !!

Can support PLEASE contact me?. On multiple occasions I have tried contacting support. I’ve been (attempting) to use this app since 2019- it did work in the beginning until the GasBuddy card was introduced. It took numerous exchanges with support over a timespan of months and 1 entire year to receive a card…that was expired. The card doesn’t work and I’m losing out on my cash back because of it. I cannot for the life of me get support to respond. To deal with one single issue, the email thread went on for literal months, and that’s when I actually received a human response. My most recent message to support was sent in October and included all of the issues I’ve been trying to get fixed. I received the automated emails requesting a reply if I still need assistance, which I kept replying yes to, but as usual those automated emails have stopped and I have not received any response from support. I know from my past attempts that this means I have to start the entire process over. GasBuddy has great reviews here, which I don’t understand because my experience has been a continuous issue for years and I can never get a human to respond to support requests. I just want someone to help me fix this.

Don’t Trust It. When I first downloaded this app months ago I was surprised that it seemed legit. It would save me a handful of change at the pump, and it gave me an overview of all the gas stations in my area prices. The prices were off at times, but that’s also just gas prices. It claims that people win free gas, but I’m honestly not sure how true that is. It takes little effort to fake an account with a stock image. So I can’t verify that. Things were going well until last month. I got gas with the Gas Buddy card. It came out of my account as usual. Then I got an email saying my transaction couldn’t be processed. I was confused because my account showed that they’d withdrawn the money, then deposited it back in my account. I thought maybe there’s an issue on their end and it’ll resolve itself…couple days go by and I see an email from Gas Buddy. They’re telling me that I could be sent to collections because of the money I owe. I’m confused and check my account. Nothing’s changed and it still shows that they took the money, then put it back. I email them on the issue - they tell me that there’s insufficient funds in my account - which I checked and wasn’t true. I show them proof via a screenshot (no personal info included) and they’ve not responded. I just deleted my account and the app, but wanted to come here to leave this review. Be careful here.

Not what it was. I am taking this off my phone. I don’t open this app every day but on the few times I opened it in the past several months it’s been pretty good. However, it may be related to the sudden surge in gas prices due to the Russian invasion but it has been extremely inaccurate especially this last week. I had to fill up in Bishop last week and as my wife was driving I open the map and found the best price when we were a few miles outside of Bishop. When we got to the fuel station the price was $.17 more than what was in the app. A few days later we were several miles away from Van Nuys and I saw the best price was $4.75. We ended up paying $5.19. I tried to correct the price in the app but it wanted me to sign in. I submitted the correct price without signing in and checked the price on the app and it then said $4.85. I was just now waiting at the traffic light and saw the Arco price was$5.35. I checked the app and it read $5.18. I again submitted the correct price and again checked it five minutes later and it went back to $5.18.

Good carrot 🥕. Let’s be clear, First it will not report the correct fuel prices as they get defaulted back to lower prices and others who are more preferential get their prices reported. Second always needing you exact location turned on all the time is suspicious. Thirdly the gas buddy car needs youDrivers license number and a personal checking account number all for a discount card!?! Those two things are very sensitive information and this company is supposedly based in Massachusetts and has another website that treats the main gas buddy website is like it doesn’t exist or as second thought so this is a big red flag right there. Don’t give them your ID number along with a checking account number unless you really want an identity theft crisis especially coming from a business from the East Coast. And forth the so-called points system that allows you to win $100 fuel card if go around reporting fuel prices….. well that’s a good carrot to entice people to use your service. The main rule and warning for using this app is don’t give them full access to your device and do not give them any form of identification especially an ID number and a bank account number. Second there are people who are going around reporting false gas prices that are .35 below the real costs.

Love This App. I have been using Gas Buddy for quite some time now and have experienced no issues with it. On our recent drive out of the state of Florida and then back in after Irma passed, our search for gas would have been far more difficult had we not had the Gas Buddy app. Kudos to the Gas Buddy team for quickly updating the app to include information about stations out of gas and out of power. For those dinging the app for having incorrect information, you have to know that the gas price information is provided by the app users and it is helpful to look under the price to see when that price was submitted. The older the submission, the more the chance that the prices have changed. The prices are not a guarantee, but it is still far better than having no information at all. And saving money on gas over time using this app is the biggest benefit. Thank you Gas Buddy!!!

Crappy app. People put wrong prices on thais app all the time . It’s very unreliable .

Easy to use and abuse. I report accurate prices yet they don’t show up and blatantly wrong prices posted by unscrupulous users stay up for days despite my update efforts. Without the abuse the app is very convenient and easy to use.

What did you do!!!. It asks me to sign up now when I open the app. However, when I click “Skip” nothing happens and still on the sign up page. I don’t want to sign up.

bad update. Can’t skip sign in and when you do sign in it says you have the wrong password Revert it back and fix this

Laggy App. Don’t know what they did with the recent updates, but the app is visibly laggy. You don’t see a pop-up for points earned anymore. Please fix it !!

Costco gas stations REMOVED. Why were the Costco Gas Stations removed?

Quebec. Like usual Quebec is left out of the contests. We are apart of the country still. Gas Buddy is a disgrace and should wake up and realize that even in quebec we should be included in the prizes!!

Price is never right.. Used to be a great app until the free gas give away. Now we have a bunch of local idiots entering any price as it’s earns them points. Price is out by $0.08.

Extremely bugged right now. Some issue with trying to go back from viewing a gas station, hangs up.

Too many ads. The app is basically okay but uses up way too much data on sending unwanted google ads to my phone. I would rather pay for an app that does not steal my data and blast me with ads that I really don’t give a damn about.

Too many ads. Get rid of ads

Very useful app. Two suggestions.. Overall I ind this very useful. However it would be nice to be able to sort by time of entry as well as distance and fuel grade. Don’t find entries that are day(s) old especially useful in the time of volatile fuel prices.

Proactive. Amazing that I am informed of recalls from Gas Buddy before my car manufacturer.

Skip does not working.. Give you a couple days to fix otherwise goodbye.

Drains your battery like crazy. The app works well, it does what it is supposed to, finds you the best price on gas wherever you’re going, but it drains your battery because for some reason it runs in the background 24/7. I turned off background usage and it was still the highest drain on my battery. Even when I wasn’t driving and just sitting at home it would be running in the background. If the battery drain issue could be fixed then it would be an alright app.

Closed Gas Station !. Woodlawn and Nicklin, Guelph Ontario Mobil Station is closed for renovations, people are reporting fictitious prices which causes others looking for a cheaper price to waste time going to this location for nothing.

Garbage, now with McD Ads???. What's this intrusive advertisement garbage which now adds random McD pins to the map?

Not so great anymore. The ads have killed a decent app & the prices are too slow to update. I paid 11 cents more a litre after lining up for 35 minutes not knowing that the Gas Buddy app was way off with the listed price.

Stopped working well.. This used to be a very reliable app but since the last couple of updates it has trouble loading the map and showing the stations. The last app has rendered it not able to load the map any longer. Hope it get fixed soon so that it is back to its old self.

Great app, data hog!!. GasBuddy is invaluable in Québec, where gas prices fluctuate frequently, and prices can shoot up 10 cents/L or more over night. But as someone who tries to control his data usage, GasBuddy is a beast. In less than a week since my billing cycle started, the app has consumed over 20MB of data while only being active for a total of about 3 minutes. How much actual data does an app need to use updating price data? Especially since the prices only seem to refresh when the app is in the foreground. I can only guess that the app must be actively uploading my location data in the background. If this is the case, I'll be deleting the app from my iPhone.

Change Size of Favorites Button!. When you make the ‘Favourites’ button bigger, I’ll put it back to 5 stars.

Add new feature - Out of Gas button. So after the snowstorm of January 2019, 40% of Ontario Canada are out of gas, so a new button should be available to notify us that the gas station is out. Thx

We rebuilt our app foundation ... to report something has gone wrong. Rebuilt app ... and now reports something has gone wrong. Rebuilding an app should be tested more thoroughly before released. Finer font (harder to read), seems like more emphasis on ads ... signs of progress (sarcasm). App locks up at times ... who codes this???

Ads platform now. Rebuilt from the ground up just for ads. Ugh.

Track you all the time!!!!!. Something happened with the app. I have to close it several times during the day as the blue oval on the top left of the screen shows the app is active. I have not open the app thru the day, but it keeps popping by itself. Please fix it!!!

Nice app. I love this app but there is just one thing that bothers me a LOT! I would like to be able to have a setting that i can filter to see only reported price from the last 1 hour or the last 4 hours, because here the prix changes multiple time a day in Montreal so i have to always check when the price have been reported one by one to know if I can rely on this information. Pleeeaase!

Useful. Great app Prices are accurate and map is plus

Update April 2022. This used to be an easy to use app. Can no longer use after updating yesterday - cannot use the Skip option at the top of the page. Touching the Skip option does nothing. Need to login now.

This Version is awful. Upgrades are supposed to be improvements, not the case here. Gas Buddy upgraded for money and not their users, the app is now awful but there are lots of ads

Works. Nice app works well and is for the most part up to date The last app update lost all my favorite locations and gas

System is broken. Currently there’s a lot of users posting the wrong price. Not by a little, by anywhere from 20-30 cents per litre. No use in using the app to predict where the best price is when ALL the local gas stations have incorrect prices. Cya gas buddy

Wrong price!. I have been fool by this up a few times... Going to the certain location and to find out that actually the price of gas is same like elsewhere...

Needs CarPlay support. I like this app but when I need it, it’s stuck on my phone. Why? CarPlay is right in my car, I should be able to see gas prices close to me or my favourites.

New update. App updated recently since my last use and now it doesn’t work at all. Keeps saying there’s a connection issue no matter what wifi I’m on or on LTE. Useless app right now :(

New version - maximized advertising. Was a good app, time to find something new, I have lost confidence. They have sold their soul, and have maximized ads. Pricing on some stations are spun by members to benefit stations. I would rate less than one (1), however, you cannot post with less than one (1) star.

Update is terrible.. New update has made the app nothing but frustrating. All my history is gone, and when I search my city, it shows me prices from 3 hours away from that location and won’t let me filter by price and distance. Not worth using at this point.

Opens on its own and kills my battery. Since that last update the app will open on it’s own. I’ve had to disable location services as it was killing my battery searching for my location. I’m inside all day at work, usually not on my cell. At the end of the day if the app opens and I don’t notice it, my battery is pretty much dead after 8 hours. Will most likely be deleting the app soon if this isn’t fixed.

Used to be good. This app was great for a while, then something must have changed and now in list view I can only sort prices by “Distance” which isn’t helpful as I would prefer “Distance & Price” but no matter how many times I make the selection it never changes. The price is the most valuable part of the app! Fix it please, or I may just get rid of the app entirely. As it is now I’m already just guessing and hoping I’ve found one of the lower priced places in town.

One complaint. Great app and accurate regularly updated prices by users and owners. Complaint: If you apply to win the daily $100 free gas prize, unless you have over a Million points you probably won’t win it. I’ve been checking the winners and 98% of them have 1,2,3 or 4 Million points. Occasionally I’ll see someone with 100,000 points win. But that is RARE. Great app otherwise 😊

Laggy mess.. Not sure why it takes 5 seconds to open the Find Gas page after tapping the button. Tell your developers to stop doing work on the main thread.

NEW VERSION 👎🏼. New version terrible! Poor response and information. Obviously, poor quality control. Need new programmers!

Good app, too many ads. The app is quite good, but the advertising has become so invasive it’s making the app difficult to use.

Lots of improvements still needed. Widgets still do not show default fuel type. Very poorly designed yet trying to move into banking?! If they can't figure out how to get the widgets working properly I wouldn't trust them with ANY banking info.

Great app but..... Wish there was the option to add an alert for when gas prices or a specific gas station drops to a certain amount (that you can choose). For example, if I wanted to know when gas price drops below 99.9/L, I’d receive an alert or something. Also wish they had an option to input hours of operation for gas stations.

Good app. Be nice if app worked with Apple car play

Great. Great app. Love watching the spread. Amazing reveal to how to industry works. Watch OS app need Spread, and favourite Brand.

Great, very useful app.. Use this all the time. It would be great if it would get some CarPlay support though.

Suggestion. Hi I really like your app. I use it regularly for gasoline log. May I suggest if you can add maintenance log so i can monitor what my vehicle needs. Such as oil change filter change so I have one stop app for all my vehicle needs. That would be awesome.

Roll back the “updates”. This app was much better in previous versions. The widget doesn’t even work anymore :(

Less Responsive After Recent Update. The older version of this app was more responsive. The animations were more fluid and there was less overall lag.

Using the discount. I’m going to be honest here. There’s one MAJOR flaw that I noticed. Whenever I use the GasBuddy card, I activate the discount that it offers, but then the gas pump asks me for my Driver’s license after that. When I enter my driver’s license, it tells me to go inside the gas station to use the discount the card offers me and give them my driver’s license number. After the gas station employee attempts to activate the discount on their end, they say that it doesn’t work. Even the gas station people don’t know how to use the GasBuddy system. Since it doesn’t work, that means I have to pay the non-discounted price of gas per gallon. That was a huge waste of time and energy even creating the GasBuddy account just to be told that you have to still pay the full price of gas that GasBuddy should have been able to apply discounts to. The company behind GasBuddy needs to do a huge overhaul of the app and service so that the gas pumps and gas station employees know what to do with GasBuddy cards and discounts.

Save money at the pump. I enjoy the gas buddy app and community to save money. I just started using the pay with gas buddy card and it's great. Since they know your odo and fuel purchase history, it would be cool if they gave you stats about fuel economy, etc. I see potential for more features with this data. I wish main app screen was a bit less cluttered, for example the "trending" section should stand out from the other bits. Docking a couple stars because in spring 2022 they made the app more spammy, eg. When you enter the contest the app auto-opens some App Store spam app to get you to download it. Also, the app sometimes uses full gps tracking (as if you’re running navigation but you’re just using the app). I like that I save 2-5% on gas, but GasBuddy is one of those scammy tracking apps that probably sells your location and data, so beware unless they start coming clean and become less sus.

Been doing this over a decade. I'm retired and post every day. I find the pricing very helpful when it's time to fill up. I have several favorite places to do business and all have quality fuels. Prices do influence my choices as I'm sure it influences most others also. When I first joined over 10 years ago my goal was to get the limo as my status icon. I am disappointed, as are others that after achieving the limo status, we lose it to a final icon exactly like the little clunkers we began with, only red in color. Taking back the limo after years to earn it seems petty and shows no appreciation to the members. Please reconsider the final icon that members with the highest points scored will end up with. I love Gas Buddy and it's members and losing the limosine is my only complaint.

Needs EV charger stations! Too many adds. This app would be great if it also had data on electric vehicle charging stations! The app’s already got all needed functionality, just add another option for specifying electric charger types. This is especially useful since electric chargers aren’t as common as gas stations, and you often don’t know how much the charge will cost until you get there. It might be free, but it might not. This is where GasBuddy could shine! Update: At this point, another app, PlugShare dominates this niche, and many EVs (and soon Apple Maps) automatically navigate you to chargers as needed. Too bad gasbuddy missed out on the chance, and will now likely die out along with the fossil fuel industry and legacy auto manufacturers. Also there's so many ads, both endlessly promoting their own credit card, and other 3rd party ads, often 3 banner ads and 2 "deal alerts" on screen at the same time. Plugshare has a much nicer interface, without ads cluttering the screen!

Convenient & Resourceful. I use this app to find great deals on gas, help other drivers stay informed of the constantly fluctuating prices, and go keep track of my fuel usage and driving. That’s a lot and it’s not even all! I signed up for the free version of GasBuddy. It’s relatively convenient, works at all but a few stations, and pretty much guarantees a ~2-3% discount when processed. My only complaint is likely specific to Iowa. The majority of stations offer 3 basic choices for gasoline: 87 Octane (10% EtOH) “Midgrade or Super,” 87 Octane (no ethanol) “Regular” and 91 Octane premium (usually ethanol-free but varies). “Mid grade” is the cheapest, followed by “Regular” and then Premium. Some stations offer 89 octane mid-grade, while others don’t carry “Regular” ethanol free 87 octane. This gets confusing when searching! Standardized rules that apply here or greater flexibility in reporting prices would be helpful.

Please allow search on stations. UPDATE: Now that I've had this app forever, it just keeps getting better & better! I really can't understand why everybody doesn't use this app! It should come preloaded on all new iPhones - it's that great! OLD POST: I love this app and have used it for over 2 yrs. Now it's time for some upgrades: please allow search based on stations. Many users probably are members of a store loyalty programs like Krogers, Ingles, BP, Shell, etc. and want to search on those stations. I am located near three different Kroger stores and it always seems their prices are different. But I must put in the city to search for these different stations then scroll to find the station. PLEASE ADD ADDITIONAL SEARCH FEATURES!! PLEASE!!

Good. Works very well when users update correctly. 3 stars because not always updated or Information provided in the areas I've driven to is wrong or stations are closed- so in those cases not helpful at all. Also wouldn’t allow me to update information while I’m refueling it became frustrating for me. Update (12/18) Now 5 stars, I love the app now it’s made many improvements and hopefully things I’ve had trouble with in the past don’t show themselves again. I do a lot of driving and I heavily rely on this to be up to the minute information so I have a chance to make a good decision on gas prices and other things that are in the area. For example some of the gas stations are in grocery stores and I could pick some things I need while I fill-up. So far so good thanks everyone!

Extremely high gasoline prices. Living in elpaso tx a very very car dependent city fuel is ridiculous you cannot afford to get in your vehicle on any day of the week and enjoy a leisurely drive to the country it’s no longer affordable we have a president in the White House that does not really care about the publics needs people who are retired are forced to make incredible decisions about the extremely high cost of fuel besides going to the super market and all prices have doubled due to the shipping costs for fuel for products to be delivered this country is definitely going down the drain Biden needs to step down and resign as well as Kamala Harris we need a president like trump who will not put up with the nonsense the foreign country’s are doing to the good old USA

Misleading discounts! False price sorting!. Gas Buddy started scamming with their advertised discounts when you look at gas pricing. It used to be that you could use a credit card, now they have some very hard to find find fine print that you have to use the gas buddy debit card otherwise you get no discount. No way to use my credit card and get a discount. 😵‍💫 Gas buddy is no longer sorting prices properly, they put prices in some other regular gas category down below which is cheaper than the one at the top! This makes the app worthless if it doesn't sort the lowest price and put it at the top. Then you have to look through the whole list to find the real low price. It's like some gas providers are paying to have their prices listed above others that are really lower price. No Different than Cheap Gas! app that's been out for *years*... Would have expected at least SOMETHING better, new or unique, like say propane tank gas pricing added, which I could also use! Results are good in Chicago suburbs.

Definitely worth it. If you are on a budget or just trying to find the nearest gas station this app is perfect!! I love it, what a fantastic concept!! I would have given it 5 stars BUT there are only two complaints I have which are really not that bad. 1 they need to stop with the promoting premium features, let people use the app, it will market itself and people will want to buy the premium stuff. Stop trying to shove those features down our throats. And 2 it is pretty reliable but I've had some times where I'm going toward a gas station and I come across one that is listed higher than the actual price advertised on the board. I think this is just from a lack of people in my area actually updating the prices but the inaccuracies are definitely something that is a hinderance although it is tough to fix that. Overall it is a great app and really did execute the idea perfectly. Great job!!!

What a waste of my time and gas!. I hadn’t used the app for several months until I tried today because my rewards card from a local store was a better discount before. I decided to try again today by going to a station that was on the list for an additional discount of $.05 per gallon. When I drove to that station and started to activate the discount the station was no longer on the list. I went on to the next lowest priced station on the list, activated the discount and there was no way to use the Gas Buddy card at the pump. The attendant knew absolutely nothing about Gas Buddy. I went on to the next one which was on my way home and it is a pay-inside-only station that doesn’t even participate in the program. The owner asked me to shown him the app and he said he didn’t do it and had no idea why it was on the app with an additional discount. I then went to my usual station and paid $.16 more per gallon because I was almost on empty by then. I’m done with the app and the card. It’s far too complicated and useless.

GasBuddy Abandons You When Gas Issues Arise. I pay $9.99/month for the premium membership which allegedly gets me up to $.40 off/gal. In 4 months I have yet to see more than $.20 to $.22/gal even when traveling. Then suddenly the app stopped giving even the usual $.21/gal from regular Shell station I use locally. There was no email or anything to let me know & that hardly any of the stations in my area now give me a deal. I emailed customer service 3 days ago but no one has bothered to answer it, other than a stupid bot that didn’t even get close to the answer. This seemed to coincide with the cyber attack on the pipeline. Apparently, they dessert you when nod get bad. Perhaps they’re too busy writing blogs t actually help customers. I need to know where to get my gas cheaper not read their blogs. I can get all that from the news. What a rip off! Will be going back to the free version once this billing cycle is over!!

Would be great if it worked, or if customer service existed. I used the gas buddy card twice, both times there was well over than the amount of my gas purchase in the linked checking account. Both times they sent a message saying the payment didn’t go through and my card would be suspended, and they would charge the gas price plus an additional $5 fee to retry the transaction. So, the card has been off more than it has been on and the amount they’re charging in bogus fees is more than the measly amount I’m saving in discounts on my fillups. It took a while to hunt down the “contact us” feature, and no customer service phone number to be found. I sent a message to customer service with screenshots of my bank account ledger, showing that I had more than enough in the account to cover the transaction and there is absolutely no reason it shouldn’t have gone through, and they need to remove the bogus fees because they’re not from any issues on my end. I ONLY use this checking account for gas, nothing else goes out of it and I made sure the money was there before I left the pump. NO ONE RESPONDED to my message and they went in and took the bogus fees out. GasBuddy, you owe me an email and a fee refund. I’m hesitant to ever use your card again because I think it might be a scam to get more than the purchase amount by charging illegitimate fees.

They need to do something about the wrong prices and abuse by certain members. This app has gone downhill and it is a shame that they can not do anything about constant cheating and wrong information. I have been complaining to the support department at least 2 to 3 times a week for over a month or more now and not getting any response back. Too many members are cheating and getting away with updating wrong prices because they want to be the top spotter for a certain station. Multiple times a day I am seeing the same GasBuddy members updating prices for multiple stations that are miles apart from each other at the exact same time. The main problem with this is a lot of time they are updating the wrong prices because they have changed. I can’t depend on this app anymore to get the correct gas prices because of this. They need another app like this that doesn’t allow the constant cheating this one does. They should do a better job policing the members who are not visiting the stations themselves and who are posting the wrong prices.

Numbers don’t lie $215 in a year saved.. I’ve had Gas Buddy for just over a year. I travel for my job in a non fuel efficient truck. Gas Buddy has been a great tool for me. Sometimes I’ve saved .75 cents but others I average 5$ if I use the deal alerts on a low tank. It all adds up, its 215$ more in my bank account then I would have had. Great thing is with the card the savings are automatic! No turning in receipts or only certain stations. It’s great. I pay for the premium service. It’s 5$ a month for extra usage on the card but for the average driver in a car ITS NOT NECESSARY so don’t fret. For the pickup truck or SUV drivers who do a lot of driving it could be worth it. Usually one good transaction savings pays for itself then the rest is bsck to me essentially. I waited a month before I realized for me it was worth doing and I would suggest the same.

Too many resets, station errors. I've been using this for over a year and I'm not impressed. The main issue I have is the price resets. Periodically I check the app and none of the stations have prices. They all have the "report price" on them. So I have no idea what prices are. Even if the price is a few days old, I'd rather know something than nothing at all. Locally I know which stations are cheaper than others but I need to be able to rely on the app when I'm traveling. The second issue is the accuracy of the cash/credit portion. Some stations I want to update prices on have separate cash and credit prices but the app only has one price. Also the app filter is "cash or credit". It needs to be separate options for "cash" or "credit" so I know which station to go to. Third is when the app updated, I got logged out. That in itself isn't a big deal, but lowers my overall opinion of the app. Disappointing app.

Gas Buddy. I had wrote a review that was pretty good last summer when it was used for a long road trip. Have to change it due to updates. I had a problem with data usage on my plan and Gas Buddy showed up in my battery consumption list pretty high. I have not taken an out of town long distance trip for some time so I checked the settings for the app.I had it for cell access from when I used it a lot last year. The app went bonkers for usage this last billing period for some reason and I figured it was due to my stupidity. I locked down the app no cell service allowed and I turned off auto updates as well as I was not sure how often it was updating. Lo and Behold this AM I noticed an app updating this morning when I had not initiated a manual update and there was GasBuddy updating itself. I deleted the app. When you use this app it provides good info, but apparently - through other updates - it can not be trusted any longer. I dislike the crap it does on its own and can no longer recommend this tool.

The app functionality is great, but an expensive caution. So the primary function of Gas Buddy is great. Simple, intuitive, functional. It gets 4 stars from me, mainly because it could do a little better flagging Cash Only prices in various display modes. That’s really my biggest complaint on primary functionality. However I had a nasty surprise this month. One I feel compelled to write this review for. This app is a profligate data hog, and one that if you use on a cell phone you must be aware of. Last month I noticed an excessive amount of data usage in System Services. Largely Time and Location. On the order of 5.5 GB for the month, just for this. No usage, this was passive data consumption I could not turn off, or so I thought. At the start of the new billing period I reset my data statistics and did a test while driving. Over a 40 minutes trip, when the phone was not even touched and not in use, it used 96mb of data. This was all Gas Buddy using location services. If you say ‘yes’ to allowing Gas Buddy to using your location, it defaults to setting it to using location always. Not just while I’m use. This consumes a massive amount of data as you drive, one that can lead to nasty billing surprises on your cell plan. So turn off location services from ‘always’. I switched it to ‘only while in use’ and, magically, my data for the same drive today was .6mb. So very useful app, but please be aware of this to spare yourself the same $45 surprise I had last month.

Add three options for bank card users. I commute 500 miles a week for work and I would like for the app to add three things that cause the price of gas to increase for bank card users debit & credit. Your app is for cash prices only. The transaction fee is profit for the gas station owner. Don’t trust the gas station owner story about the bank charge fee. 1). For card users there is a transaction fee. This fee is not disclosed anywhere only once you pay. I seen it range from 35 cents to 50 cents per transaction for purchasing gas. 35 cents is usually at the gas pump or if the pump card machine is down you pay inside the store and get charged. If you decline to pay the fee your card is rejected and you can’t put gas. 2) Also, I have seen on numerous occasions the pump card machine is not working so you pay inside with your card and that is where I seen them charge me 50 cents to put gas. 3) the gas station sign will promote there gas price at $2.89 and once I stop to put my card in at the pump to pay once it’s completed the price changed to $2.99 because I used my bank card. That is a 10 cents increase! This is done with debit/credit cards. This is happening everywhere. It’s seems to be the new norm. I would like to see your app have an area to add the FEE price for card users. PLEASE

Great. I have used GasBuddy for a long time. It had always been accurate and helpful. Suddenly (7/6/22) after I updated the app on my iPhone, the interface was drastically changed. Well, ok. I can learn the new interface, but the ads are quite annoying. However, trying to add back my favorites (why didn’t the new version pick up my favorites from the old version ?), I simply cannot add my favorite station - Costco - to my favorites. And it does not show up like it used to in searching prices. And the search radius is too small and not settable, as far as I can determine, which might be why Costco does not show up. Or not. Frustrating! If these issues don’t get fixed quickly, I will be looking for a different app.

Can’t earn points for reporting gas prices and premium membership is not worth it. I earn points for the first 2 or 3 stations then afterwards it says thanks and I receive no points. Where I live we have a ton of gas stations located fairly close together so when driving through town you can score a ton of points. Well I guess not anymore please fix this. Now on to the premium membership, I’ve paid for that for about 3 thinking maybe I’ll save a couple extra bucks when I fill up, turns out I break even when I hit my discount limit for the month according to the app. So in order to make the premium membership worth it, Gas Buddy should up the discount limit to 100 gallons of fuel or heck make it unlimited for subscribers and up the cost a few bucks! I will be canceling my premium membership soon if there is not change in the near future sorry, I don’t see any savings here.

Questionable Limits. I’ve been using the the app for the past several months now. I’ve seen decent savings. The problem is that you have a spending limit each month. Make sure you have a backup credit card if you expect to take a road trip that requires you to fill up three or four times in a day. Even more important,...I can no longer make purchases over $75 at certain locations, which has now become an even bigger hassle. I cannot fill up fuel tanks. I leave with 3/4 of a tank. They won’t allow you to run the pump a second time. You have to wait until the next day to make another purchase. I have pickup trucks with 56, 52, and 35 gallon fuel tanks. Let’s be honest,...$75 isn’t gonna buy you that much fuel. I don’t see the benefit of partial fill ups. I hope others see this before they experience what’s happening to me. UPDATE: THIS APP DOES NOT BENEFIT ANYONE WITH MULTIPLE VEHICLES OR VEHICLES WITH LARGER FUEL TANKS. IT CREATES TOO MUCH OF A HASSLE WITH PURCHASES.

CHAD. 5 stars just because chad gave such good customer service ! My account was still charging after I cancled it a couple months ago. I called it rang and rang and rang then eventually was notified all lines are busy, so I called again right after lol same thing happened. About 10 mins go by and It was gas buddy returning my call , mind you I didn’t leave a call back number but instead of Chad going to the next call he called me back cause he figured it was urgent since I called back to back lol. He solved my issue right away for me and got me my 2 refunds and on top of that he’s going to keep and eye on my account so it doesn’t happen again. This has to be one of the best on the phone customer service I’ve received lol thanks chad (if that’s your real name lol) give this man a raise 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽😂!

5¢/gal discount.... Love this app. It is not only helpful in knowing where the best prices are, but also what type of stations and of course their locations with directions — ALSO, Get The Gas Buddy Card. Not a credit card, just a card that links to your bank account and charges directly from there (like your debit card would). The only difference is, you also get a 5¢ per gallon discount when you use it too. Most gas companies have their own credit card that does the same thing, but this isn’t credit (that’s a good thing) and you can use it at most gas stations, not just that one company. You can see reports, as well, of how much gas you have purchased each month too. So helpful for budgeting. I’ve used this app for years now, and have yet to come against any problems or cons to its use. Get it 👍

Unfair. Just because they took so long to get there money from my bank account I went overdrawn now had I just went on and just use my debit card I wouldn’t of been overdrawn at the time I had the money to fill up my truck, so I was asked at the pump to insert gas buddy Card I’m new to this, not realizing that that was gonna be how they got their money. I thought that afterwards I would take out the gas buddy card and insert my debit card but they went on and said OK I’m done so I said that was fast and cool cause they went and got the money you know from my debit card but it didn’t work that way they took. I don’t know how many days and then I look at my bank account and I’m overdrawn and what pisses me off is that they charging me an extra $15 because of it so what gas did I save so I make arrangements to pay them the $74 and some change plus the $15 for being overdrawn or making a late payment to them i’m just gonna go ahead and drop out of this program. They could keep the card.

Useful, but w/ room for improvement. Several improvements needed to make ap easier to use on-the-fly and more accurate: 1) ap needs setting for default start-up zip for when location services are off. GPS is a HUGE battery drain, and turning it on or typing a zip while driving is not a safe option. 2) a setting for app to load by default to my "Favorites" list would be even better, since I've put together a list that covers the parts of my metro area that I drive most often. As it stands, getting to "Favorites" requires two additional taps while looking at the screen: punchline also *not* a safe option while driving. 3) bring back the option for “display credit prices only.” The best stations in town offer same price for credit & cash. Most if us have *no interest* in rewarding second-rate stations for penalizing card-users w/ higher credit rates.

I wanted to love it!. I had high hopes for this thing to work in my favor and let me save some money on the gas. So I was supposed to save 15 cents on my first fill up, so I of course got the car down till the light came on. First gas station, wouldn’t take this card, second gas station refused as well, by that time i was scared to make any more experiments before the car dies on me and I had to take the next best gas station, of course a way more expensive one and on top also charging more for using credit cards (you have to use this as a credit card when prompted) and so I paid in the end way more than I would have had just using my debit card even with the 15 cents savings on the first fill. What’s the purpose of it to have to use it as credit card when most gas stations charge you more for doing so and all the others that don’t charge extra deny your card. I tried it again today at Arco. Again no success.

FIXERS. When I 1st began, (bout 4 yrs ago), with G.B. I'd a give it 10 stars. Since then, ur fixers & their updates have eliminated phone #'s altogether, & @ 1 time, all location info was right up front, didn't have to do a thing. Not handicap, just seems with each fixers upgrade, the user friendliness takes a downgrade. STOP! Fixin, what ain't broke yall! Undrstnd???? I have, after several updates on ur end had to add a ⭐️ to my rating. I could possibly throw a few more in if, G. B. would reimplement stations ph #, & make it possible to edit our favorites. When traveling, it's nice to be able to look at prices down the road, but then back at home, all those down the road prices, along with my own misspelled locations create a lot of unnecessary clutter. Why is an edit feature still not an option? Can't believe that I am the only person who has addressed these issues???

Convince. The GasBuddy App tends to be really convenient wherever you're at. It doesn't matter what city or place, GasBuddy will give you a location to the nearest Gasoline station, whether it's price or the distance I use it on an everyday basis wherever I'm at. The only issue I might have with it is that sometimes I will have to put current location again When I believe it should be automatically already buffer/refresh in your current location as you had placed it previously or whatever other option you decide to, that is the only issue I have with it so I will give it 4 stars for that reason only other than that I would give a 5. The app itself is great but if they upgraded to have it refresh as soonest GasBuddy is being opened ever better.

Bad CS. I really want to like Gas Buddy. I’ve used it to find the cheaper gas station for about two years. Last month I signed up for the gas buddy card, it came, but I have no way to actually activate the card. I accidentally “logged in” somehow with the incorrect email, which they informed me is why. First off, I don’t know how you log in with an incorrect email. Anyway, every time I attempt to log in using the other email, because I can’t remember a password, I can’t get in. Instead of there being a “reset your password” button, there’s a button that sends your email address a link to access your account. That would be great and all, but the link takes me back to the log in screen 😭 so I can’t access my account, I can’t log in to activate my card and have wasted way to much time trying to figure this out. It’s 2022. Make a reset your password button and get better customer service. Avoidance is terrible Customer service

Recent deals are terrible, losing money on membership. Confirmed immediately after canceling, app shows a higher local deal than was showing as premium member!! Now 1-star. Been a Premium member @ 9.99 for 24 months. Total app tracked savings = $242, total membership cost $240. This app did nothing but transfer my cashback discounts to GasBuddy instead of me. Deals are not good enough to recover membership cost. Recent year they been 10c or 5c per gallon, rarely higher. Previously this was worth it, at least first few months of membership. The app may have been promoting better deals when new, and tapering off. But even trying to maximize when you fill-up to get the deal active and full fill-ups I have been falling behind in membership vs savings; previously deals were much higher in 20-35c per gallon. Not worth it. Not out-performing cash-back deals on credit cards at all or even the 1% back I would have from debit card. Canceling. I will still use the app for gas prices, but not funding them anymore.

Lacking accuracy. I have been using this app for well over five years and it has been great except I do notice that when the gas price keeps going back-and-forth in a short amount of time the app cannot keep up with current prices. Lately I have corrected prices a few times for the gas station that I use regularly and it still keeps going back to showing it’s a dollar more than what it is and a couple other gas stations have been the same way as well. That needs to be fixed because I’m wasting money wasting gas by going to the stores that are listed as being cheaper but they are over a dollar more than what the app is showing and then the ones that are cheap is showing a dollar more on the app. It’s as if you might as well go to the ones that are listed with the higher price because they’re more likely to be lower. nothing is consistent and correct it doesn’t make sense

Simply wrong. This app is a “buddy” only if you’re buddy was a crack-addled moron with no sense of direction whatsoever. Was on the 5 fwy in mid California passing by the cow pastures headed back to LA when I noticed I needed fuel. Looked up the nearest station which told me it was 50 miles in the opposite direction from what I was traveling. Less than 5 miles in the direction that I was traveling was a town that had just about every station in the OPEC circle (Exxon, Shell, ARCO, etc.). While fueling at a 76 station I decided to see what the app said so I refreshed it a guess what?…it still said the nearest station was now 55 miles in the opposite direction. Had I not known better and attempted to follow it’s ridiculous direction, I’d be sitting in the middle of the upper desert waiting hours for AAA to come find me and then getting berated by the driver for actually paying attention to this worthless application. Seriously, this this app worse than my wife at directions, and she has to fire up the GPS in order to get back to the house after a trip to the local supermarket.

Good but. I am giving it a four out of five because it does a very good job of letting me know of close gas stations and their prices. But as someone who has used this app since it was pretty much first released, I would warn them that the number of ads he’s getting a bit insane and a big reason why I don’t use it as much as I used to. For example, I just loaded the app to find out what the prices were around me and I had to deal with two different pop-up ads just to get to the first page. Then there are the ads that are in between gas stations in prices which I can deal with for the most part. But I hope the developers realize that if they continue to push and push ads on top of what is already there, customers like Myself will likely leave rather quickly

Latest Update Not So Good. Loved this app when it first came out. Wrote a glowing review. In the last few years it has slowly evolved to where ads are everywhere and they are gigantic. Take up more than half a page. It’s almost impossible to scroll to view info without touching the ads. This makes the app significantly more annoying and less usable. It takes much longer to find the info which used to be listed right in front of your eyes. Instead of. Simple list of the 10 nearest gas stations listed by price or distance you get one gas station, a giant ad which you have to somehow scroll past carefully without touching it, then another couple of small ads, then another gas station, another gigantic ad...etc. ridiculous! I realize the hard work of the developers deserves compensation but I would rather pay for the app than deal with the gigantic ads which are in your face. I’m on the verge of deleting this app from my phone. I’m sure someone can provide a more usable product.

Worth it. I have been using the app and the basic card they have for almost 4 years (next month) now. I use it every time I fill up except for when I go to Costco. If you don’t have a Costco membership or are not near one this app is great. In my area Costco is usually cheaper, plus I get cash back on the credit card I have for Costco when I fill up there. Otherwise I use this card at every other station. The app is relatively intuitive and easy to use. It is clearly listed if Gas Buddy is not accepted at a station on the app. I recommend it. The 5-25 cents a gallon you can save really adds up. I do not pay for their premium membership and I have never used any of the gas back deals for shopping at other places through gas buddy. I just stick to the basics and it works well.

Most Convenient Thing since Sliced Bread. You know if I whip out the iconic dad quote to describe something that it’s serious. Whenever surveys ask “Would you recommend this to a friend?” my answer is always “no why the heck would i recommend something minorly convenient to a friend? I don’t care enough to do that”. But my god, this app has probably saved me a few hundred dollars in the ~year and a half i’ve had it. As someone who feels much safer when i’m the driver I always offer to drive friends and family whenever i’m spending time out somewhere. So using a lot of gas like I do, the 60-70 cents I save a gallon going somewhere cheap as opposed to Chevron really racks up. There really isn’t an app or item i’d say is a must download but I pretty much always recommend this app whenever I discuss gas or saving money. This app is easily my favorite app aside from Moviebox Pro (every movie or show you could think of for $3/month) purely based on convenience. If you couldn’t tell already, there’s no reason not to get this app, it’s free, and one could argue it actually gives you money by owning it so it’s paying you to download it. If you don’t have it after reading this review, you’re not intelligent, do better, and get this app. :)

Gas buddy app going downhill. When I first discovered gas buddy app years ago I loved it. Would have rated 5 stars. Now in order to have a favorite list you need account. And login is difficult. I used to advocate for the app just a few months ago. But some marketing idiot decided they needed my identity. So now I will tell people to use something else. Added: after posting this review I went looking at other recent reviews. Some guy posted about current location not giving stations closest to you and I was yes thinking yes that happened. We'll developer posted condescending response about it shouldn't do that and he should make sure he had all sort options correct. I checked and my sort options were correct so developer is going have me reduce my rating. They never will fix problems with that attitude. Now 1 star.. UPDATE: Now it keeps logging you out of the app and login process sends an email with link to log in. I’m done finding better option after being a GasBuddy early adopter and advocate.

Beware, wrong price, then app would not change after I input real price. Very disappointed. Drove to 2 gas stations supposedly reported prices 7 hours ago. Very different price, but worst thing on top of it that I submitted right prices over and over and the app would not update to the right price after I closed and opened the app again. It shows as if it’s updated, but if you close the app and open again, no it’s old low and wrong price of the gas still showing. I noticed also that it changed on one of the stations, but on another one where a poster named “arseniol “ reported price supposedly 7 hours ago, it would not update to the real price I have seen, and I have tried to update many many times over and over. I find it to be such a waste of time. 2 gas stations, 2 very much not at all close prices, and on top they ask us to participate and add real time price, but they really do not update it. So this is why I am writing this review.

Became a bandwidth hog with ads. First things first, GasBuddy is a FANTASTIC app for finding low gas prices in the neighborhood. Nothing else comes close. And I try to do my part, submitting gas prices when I'm stuck at intersections or when my partner is driving. (Don't GasBuddy and drive, folks.) Everything was great. Until some ads start popping up that hijack your whole screen. The current offender (as of late July, 2018) is an ad for Super Trooper bluray. The trailer for the movie will, without any warning, take over my phone's screen, and I'd have to click on that X icon to get out of it. Now, that in and of itself was nothing more than an annoyance. It's terrible from useability standpoint, but still nothing to stop using GasBuddy for. Then I noticed that my phone's mobile data usage had gone waaaay up. I thought there's gotta be something wrong, as I normally don't do anything that would eat up mobile data bandwidth. So I go into settings and check the data usage, and lo and behold, GasBuddy has eaten up GIGABYTES of my mobile data. Absolutely ludicrous. Being a longtime user of GasBuddy, I know that's not its normal behavior, and I can only conclude that the new pop-up video ads are the bandwidth hog. So until I hear that the video ads are gone, I am stopping using GasBuddy. I already know where the low-priced gas stations are in my neighborhood, so I won't miss it. Poor handling of ads has cost GasBuddy a longtime user and submitter.

Room for a little improvement.... Hello, I really do like GasBuddy. However, I think your rules could use a small tweak. In your rules, it states: 1 report per station per hour. I will continue with the assumption that that rule includes all octanes, as 1 report. I believe, that if you make a report, and then see that the price changes within (sometimes within seconds of), that hour period, you should be aloud to make an adjustment to your prices. Then, your hour would start again, with the accurate report. I have seen this happen within seconds of making a report... *I have also inverted prices, and made a report, only to correct the mistake, and wonder if either of those reports counted? If you do not agree with my suggestions, and continue with rules as they are now, I will understand it would complicate things too much to make such changes. Plus, when traveling, and a station is not listed, the system says to ‘suggest’ a station. I have done this more than once, and was able to report 1 set of prices, while not being permitted to report another station not listed. I think this is another area with room for improvement. Please consider these options ! (*) = I am dyslexic... Thank you very much ! Con Gubser aka “cresbug”

What happened?. I have had this app for at least 6 years, since I first got an iPhone. It seems like it was faster on my first iPhone SE, and my iPhone 8, than it has been for the last year on my newer (bought new a year ago) iPhone SE with 64Gb! Does the app just not support a cellular connection of 5G with only 2 bars? For months, I’ve hardly used it at all because EVERY TIME I load it to report prices, I wait and wait…and when it finally loads nearby gas stations (IF it does), I’m either so far away from the ones I’ve remembered the prices at, or I’m home! I know it’s not my phone, because all the other apps I’ve been using are fine. Only thing I can think of is that I NEED to have 3 bars on my cell connection for it to work—or it just hates Mint Mobile! I can’t possibly be the only frustrated person with an iPhone SE, Mint Mobile (using T-Mobile’s towers), and many months of GasBuddy crawling along!

Selling location information. I can understand wanting to generate revenue to keep the site free but, not giving us the right to say no to sell our information and location to your trusted partners is wrong. I could not continue on the app until I pressed the continue button. You state that we can opt out under privacy but, our information is already out there for your partners once we press that button. Also only persons in California can opt out. I cannot use your app unless I agree and I don’t. Knowing my location is not necessary, putting in find gas near me is all that’s needed and I have places already saved. It’s amazing this happens with all that is going on now. Why is location so important now? There should be an X or NO or close window button not press continue if you still want to use our app and agree to our selling your information location to our TRUSTED PARTNERS. App will be deleted. That’s sad too because we loved this app. I still want control over my information and location.

Hate the new feature where you have to search areas. I loved the old version where you could move along the map with your finger and see gas prices, up ahead. It automatically posted price changes as you moved along your route. now you have to search each area to see the prices. What a step back. What a bummer. This is a new feature that is just not good. Now I have to search each area to see the prices and since I don’t know where the gas station are I have to continue to review each area. I loved the old feature since I could automatically view prices ahead of where we were going, some times hours ahead and find the cheapest price. Please change this back to the old version. Just Like Every App, They Know How To Get Out Of Their Obligations. I just signed up to test this app. If you read the fine print, which a ton of you don’t by reading tour reviews, they state if you use the app in combination with other discounts (such as Shell, Mapco, any gas stations’ reward program), it defaults to 3.5¢ off a gallon instead of what the app says you’re getting. ALSO…..if your gas receipt DOES NOT HAVE THE GRADE OF FUEL, which my Shell receipt I just got DOES NOT (it says unleaded under ‘product’. Not ‘87 unleaded’. So the app is not going to honor their discount due to all these fine print regulations and stipulations. READ THE FINE PRINT. So my advice: DELETE THIS APP, DONT SUPPORT CROOKED APP DEVELOPERS, OR AT LEAST ONES THAT PRACTICE THIS TYPE OF BAIT AND SWITCH TACTIC like these developers. They can’t make money off you if you don’t let them. These discounts and apps like this in general aren’t your savior. They just want your personal information to sell it. Just get your gas stations discount program and use it. It’s DEFINITELY the lesser of the two evils here.

Too Many Ads. I always upload new gas prices on my drives, but the ads have gotten out of control. I have it set up so the gas stations closest to me would show on the top, but a promoted gas station shows instead (the gas station is not even close to me, extremely irritating). Fast food restaurants and other gas stations are also promoted everywhere, overly displeasing. There are big sponsor ads throughout that are immensely aggravating, why not just leave the slick bottom ad, and move all the other ads to the other tabs. Why is there no option to turn off “deal alert,” greatly unnecessary alert. All of this is just under 1 tab, “Find Gas” tab. All I’m trying to do is update gas prices but the user experience is vastly infuriating and disappointing. To the developers-> make a separate tab ad free for users to update gas prices, the app depends on users like myself to update gas prices, if the experience becomes horrible (like it is now), then the app will suffer the consequences.

Having fun saving money!. Others play games with cartoon characters trying to accomplish a task, or they try and crush the right pieces of candy, but I find hunting for prices at real gas stations to be kinda fun and challenging. Plus, I just like driving my Wrangler. What’s better is the Gas Buddy Card. If you don’t have one, get one now. You’ll thank me on your first fill-up for telling you to get one right now. Don’t wait until tomorrow when you’ve forgotten about it. Do it now!! It’s so easy to use and you can choose the bank account, debit card, or credit card you want to link it to for actual payment. So, thank you Gas Buddy for saving me 15 cents off my first fill-up and for the 5 cents or more I save off of these current high prices at every fill-up.

Not Your Buddy at All. This app actually has potential, if not for the shortsightedness of the developers. To date, I have not found a gas station with the GasNotBuddy listed prices. Usually, the difference isn’t even close in price. This app will cost you more in gas usage, and will cost you even more at the pump, because the gas you end up getting is 10 miles out of your way and is .30¢ more a gallon than the stations you will pass along your way. Also, at night, the app takes you to closed gas stations, costing you even more. Rename this app to GasWaster, and you’re on to something. How about using photo verification for people reporting prices, rather than pranksters listing false prices just to cause ham to unwitting strangers. Seriously, fix this gas waster app. There are other apps available that aren’t as convoluted to use as this one. Pull up, get gas and receive the discount immediately, is far better than GasWaster’s search-for-gas app. A former user…

Used to be Better. I used to love gasbuddy. I signed up, got the card and was getting good discounts and reporting prices regularly. Then they changed it so that 5 cents off (standard with their card) became a deal alert, and without activating you only get 3 cents off, which is fine I always activate my card for the “deal” before filling up. But since that change I haven’t once gotten a deal of over 5 cents savings. I used to get anywhere from 5-23 cents off per gallon. Those bigger deals were incentives for me to use the app more, and report prices. I’ve slowly stopped reporting and checking for deals because of this, and it appears others have done the same. Hardly any stations in my area have reported prices anymore. I’ll take the 5 cents off per gallon, but I’m disappointed in the changes they made earlier this year, and as a result engage far less in their app.

Wrong Prices On Premium!!!!. No longer reliable as people are reporting incorrect gas prices to try and lure people to their stations knowing they’ll probably fill up rather than go and try another incorrect station nearby. The owners of stations have started to report lower prices and GasBuddy isn’t banning them or correcting the issue. Problem is that these people report correct prices for regular and maybe plus, but report premium grade as much lower than others around and this is what brings people to their station via the trick. Most newer cars require premium and this is why this is being done. Also, GasBuddy doesn’t do anything about it because their system doesn’t properly catch or punish these users who do 2 correct and 1 incorrect price because they deem it an acceptable error, which IT IS NOT! It’s a way for them to circumvent and game people into going to their stations in hopes of the lower price and then just end up filling up because they can’t keep hunting down incorrect low prices for premium fuel. Get this junk fixed!!!!
