A useful application. OffMaps 2 has been a wonderful tool for me as I travel extensively. It has been brilliant when I don't have access to internet. Not all the maps I needed were available, unfortunately, but the majority were and hopefully more are on the way. Some of the capabilities are not in this version (as can be seen from previous comments) though I am hoping they will be reinstated on future upgrades. I recently had issues with my account and they replied to me fairly quickly and were quite helpful. All in all a very useful app with a very nice interface.

Awesome App, Awesome Support Team. I love this app. Its so convenient for travel, the fact that it even exists, and that I had the fortune of finding it, is unreal. Having an offline map and wiki for almost any location you could go is a godsend. And not only is the app great but the support is also top notch. They worked with me, in a very prompt manner, to solve some obscure issue I was having. I believe this app is well worth the small cost, and that life time flat rate is very reasonable. I went for it from the get go and have never been happier with an app. This will be one of the most used apps on my up-coming trip to europe. Thank you offmaps2!

Terrific offline maps for the price. This is a great offline app and it includes quite a bit of detail. If you are using it for foreign travel you need to know the specific region where a city is located before you can search for a city. For example, if you want to know where a small city in France is, you must first know which regional map it is in before you can search for it. For the lifetime flat rate price you get unlimited maps and unlimited upgrades. If you're concerned about data storage just download the map and delete it when you're done - you can always load it again later. To get the lifetime flat rate, first pay for the app. Log in using your device. When you've downnloaded 2 maps the app will ask if you want to upgrade.

not really as good as they claimed. pros: it's offline cons; if you buy the whole world maps ( which I did) , you will find out later that still some areas are missing! I used it in Italy , it never shows the areas on the perimeter of Rome which are vital areas of Rome! I used in Milan , it never shows the Rho fiera which is one of the most important areas in Milan on trip from Castle-Francho to venice , I had to use other map program to show our exact location because this one will show only cities !! shopping malls , restaurants , interesting places are not up to date , hence , you hear about many interesting places but this program fail to spot it out for u! as a conclusion , download maps with me, i am not saying it is not better , but it is really the whole world maps including cities borders and in between highways, also it's free!

Works great. I have an Ipad which includes the gps/cell feature, but I have no data plan. This app works great at finding directions. Do check the publisher's web site to see if the maps for your region have been generated. If it hasn't been send a request, they added a new region I wanted very quickly.

Look Ma! No 'net!. When traveling, this is an absolute must, you never know when you might be 'just out of range' and yet still need maps for where your heading. This app allows you to plan ahead & have a set of maps for where you will be on-hand without the need of phone connection to the net.

Handy & Accurate. I'm new to this app, but I used it very successfully in Mainz, Germany just a few days ago. It helped me find a shop quickly that would otherwise have taken much longer, and I probably would have had to ask for help from passersby in the street. I really like the public transportation overlays. My only complaint so far is that I couldn't search successfully for a manually-entered street address in Mainz. The closest I could get was the street level. On the London map, however, my street address searches were successful. Yet both city maps have 3 stars in the store.

Very useful. I liked version 1 better with its ability to customize maps. But this is quite useful too if one is in a metro area. This version uses vector maps which are more compact and download more quickly. Any way to to combine custom maps with vectors?

Saved me from being lost a few times. This is a very good app to move around coties you dont know well. it helps you locate yourself and the compass feature lets you know the direction in which you are walking. It's also very helpful in the fact that it does not use any data other than to load maps. Load maps while in your hotel with the free Wi-Fi and go about visiting the city.

Absolutely fantastic!. Honestly the perfect solution to either not having wireless data and/or not having access to public WiFi. Maps load very fast, and interface is battery-friendly. Only issue I could see is if you are outside the United States or internationally outside a relatively large city. The coverage of the US seems near complete. I would like to perhaps see other regions separated by province/state/county like the US. In the maps available for Canada, for instance, it would be nice to have the metropolitan areas categorized by province. But, that's just a nit-picky thing. I recommend purchasing the flat rate price to download an unlimited amount of maps if you travel frequently. If not, the $7.99 may not be worth it. (Since it includes 3 maps and 2 additional maps for $0.99, if you think you'll use less than 19 maps, it's more economical to just use tokens.)

Ehh .... Probably fine for the selected maps that exist, and there is, of course, an option to request a map, but more trouble than it's worth. Not for me. Unfortunately, we can't get our money back. Oh well. I'll keep it in the off chance I'll need it someday. You won't know this unless you buy this, but in the USA, this seems to cover areas that have ready access to a cell signal. It may be useful overseas, though,

Best app ever!. This app is help me immensely since I am moving to Germany. I don't have a data plan yet however off maps can still triangulate my position. It works for navi, trails, and other businesses. It is an excellent product. I only wish that I could pay perhaps a large amount and download all the maps of Europe. This is now the best app I have on my phone. Don't leave home without it!

good map but transit options cause crashes. I have used the Paris map extensively and it is good, but there are some buggy parts of it: If you are looking at bookmarked spots and one of the public transit overlays at the same time, the app crashes VERY frequently. Similarly if you are looking at a transit overlay and start zooming in or clicking on a bus stop or train station - frequent crashes. On the other hand, for just map use including gps referencing, and for bookmarking spots on your map and for finding certain things nearby your spot - it is really quite good - stable, good detail, and sufficient stored data for local sites. I have also used the Madrid map a fair bit and it has the same problems that the Paris map does. Also - surprisingly, I wanted to buy a Manchester UK map and it is not available. That seems odd - it's a good sized city.

Offmaps2. This is strictly a map. It does connect easily with adjacent maps if you have them, BUT, it provides no other useful data on hotels/ restaurants/pubs etc. When searching for these it lists all the hotels etc that it has in the county without indicating which are in the area of the identified town. It has a search button for "nearby" but it bumps the user back to the general selection!!! It does not find towns/hotels in the area listed in the Michelin! Even within the provided listing, many Michelin hotels are omitted eg. Boom/Trehellas House; chafford/Gidleigh Park (2 star restaurant) !!!!???! Your best bet is to use TRAVEL ADVISOR rather than OFFMAPS2. I can find no productive use for this app.

Still bewildered. An amazingly WORKING app TO DATE! I still miss some features from the old offmaps such as the ability to download routes, but this passes it with your love to stabilize this and improve it when it first appeared to be a failed app. For those who don't understand what it does, this app downloads maps (which can be a city or county [ex. Orange County, Los Angeles, etc.] or a national park. IF you cannot read (lots of 1 star reviews from idiot people [old reviews]), the $1 purchase ONLY GIVES YOU TWO MAPS. Seriously, I mean, READ THE DARN DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU BUY THE APP. The flatrate (which gives infinite downloads) costs something like $5, but it's worth it. And if you still don't like that, reinstalling the app gives you your two free map downloads back. This app can determine your location WITHOUT SERVICE, and can do so accurately. And it works seamlessly. The maps are loaded in DETAIL, and within them you can search for ALMOST ANY ADDRESS, OFFLINE. How nuts is that!? Suggestions: as stated above, you should re-add routing into the app. Also, I miss one part of the iOS 6 version of the app: the guide in that was a lot quicker and easy to use than the new one. It was more elegant too. Currently sing iPhone 6, iOS 9.3.3 Previously used with iPhone 4 on iOS 5, iPhone 4S running iOS 5, 6, and 7, as well as my 6 with all versions of 8, 9.0.2, and 9.2

Great for the price, great support, growing map selection. It's not yet as polished as it could be -- in particular, street and landmark names can be hard to see and should resize/reposition themselves when zooming/scrolling around. And I wish redraw could be faster. But for the price it can't be beat and it meets my needs for offline map access anywhere. Why buy another app with limited map selections? The developers of this app are growing the map selection constantly -- you can request a custom map of your area by zooming in and positioning a rectangle on a lower-detail world map. The developers added my map request quickly, and support was responsive when a map didn't download.

Not very useful for Spain. The map list for hotels does not have Le Meridian Westin which is right on La Rambla. The query tool for hotels does not find it, either. Not finding it very useful for upcoming trip.

Near perfect!. Living in Europe, I need offline maps to avoid roaming data in all of the nearby countries. Off Maps 2 works great! Flat rate is a good value My only quibble: sometimes the labeling on the maps is inadequate. For example, in Manhattan, the avenues are labeled once very 20 or 30 blocks and you have to zoom in to read them. This requires you to leave your current navigation area and can be annoying or downright detrimental.

A DOWNGRADE from version 1. The KEY feature from the original Offmaps that I purchased this app for was the ability to download maps for any location anywhere in the world at any level of resolution. So, in buying version 2, you would expect that you could still do that, right? After all, that's what made it a great app. No, now it only has a library of maps. Limited in number and pay for play. Sure, I guess I could REQUEST a map, but I'm pretty sure it won't be ready before I leave for Laos in 2 hours. Previously, I could download a map of a new location before I left and be all set to go when I arrived. It's probably an okay app if you're going to one of the cities they cover, but for those of us who wanted to use it for maps of locations off the beaten path, I guess we'll have to find another app to try.

Excellent. Easy, reliable and great customer support.

Needs Work. The maps are incomplete. For example, I downloaded the Washington DC map and it has large chunks with no map information and does not have all the shops and points of inerest marked properly. Since they are charging for additional map downloads you should consider carefully if this is the app for you. I'm also discouraged to see this is the second iteration of this application, did those who purchased the first version get support for a buggy product or just told it was no longer supported? You can always download a pdf map and view it offline, perhaps that is a better way of going.

Seemingly useless. I can download google maps offline for free. This doesn't seem to add anything better and I was hoping for excellent transit capabilities, which this doesn't seem to have. Hoping it "seems" better once I arrive in the cities I downloaded. I had planned on lifetime access, but it seems really unlikely at this point. $0.99 already feels like a huge waste for this.

Best app ever. I never rate apps but this is a first because of how much I like the app. This app totally saved me while I was studying abroad in Europe. Compared to hauling around lots of maps and trying to figure out where you are, this app is so much better. It even shows you the nearest public transportation system (some cities only) so you can find your way there.

Great app. I used this for a month in and around Germany and was very happy with how it performed. The subscription for all maps is well worth the price. Navigation was fast and I didn't have any problems with it on either iPhone or iPad. The subscription for maps applies to all your devices (you don't have to buy for each one). The way to do this seems a bit strange. I could't find it and emailed support -- they were quite fast and explained how. Local storage of maps is exactly what I wanted (i.e. no need for cellular connection to get map info)

OffMaps2. I used this on a recent trip to England. The London and Oxford maps were excellent and the GPS worked like a charm. It's great knowing that you are not being charged by the mobile operator to load the maps so that you can use OffMaps with abandon. The nearby attractions is helpful as is the bookmarking feature. I wish there was a way to tie addresses in contacts to the maps and some other functionality such as showing transport routes from one place to another--maybe there is but did not figure how to use it. But for getting me "unlost" it worked great. Highly recommended.

Great tourist app!. I downloaded this app for a trip I'm taking to Europe. I've fiddled around with it and it's great! It pinpoints destinations of interest for you and has wiki articles available for download so you don't have to use 3G to look something up about the area. It hasn't crashed on me once, which is more than I can say for Citymaps2go (it crashed every time I entered a street address). I plan to use it all the time on my trip.

Great app for gen navigation. What it needs though is a way for users to submit suggestions/changes/additions, and your company could go through some process to accept those changes. Great general location checking, but you pretty much need to crosscheck location with a guide book map...

Fantastic travel companion. I love this app. I can have maps with me (on my iPhone or iPad) regardless of having a wi-fi connection. Better yet, at the end of the trip, I can delete them -- confident that the next time (if there is such an occasion) I can download them again, and probably get an updated map. I have the $5.99 version -- worth every penny.

A vacation-saver in France. We recently went to France on a two week vacation to Paris and then Nice. I was taking my Verizon iPad and knew I would not have persistent affordable data access throughout my trip, so I searched for a a map app that gave me locally-cached (i.e. stored on my i device) maps. I tried a couple of them before we left and OffMaps2 seemed the best. But it really shined once we got to France. Best features: - Ability to use the iPad's built in GPS receiver to show where in France I was at that point in time. - Very accurate maps of both locations - Great street search (even lots of stores and restaurants) all offline and plotted on the map - Bookmarks of located search results so they could be used to easily see and determine how to get from point A to point B I HIGHLY recommend this app. It was INVALUABLE in helping us find and navigate unfamiliar territory. It saved us countless hours and effort and let us maximize our vacation time. I dare say it even helped us avoid those annoying family arguments when trying to plan daily itineraries. GET THIS APP!

Has potential, but not worth the time or cost. As a frequent traveler to Japan, the thought of having a single high quality, offline street and subway map sucked me in. The street maps are nice, but the subway/rail maps are horrible!!! There are several of the Metro lines that are missing...not just the newest line (Fukutoshin) that opened 5 years ago. The map is missing the Ginza line, the Namboku line, and a few others. The Metro lines that are on the map are in the wrong locations, don't use the same colors as the Tokyo Metro lines, names are missing for numerous major train stations, and the maps don't include the Metro stations at all. The POI information is awful. The are are more than 70 sushi places and 3 pizza places in a city of 20 million people! If the Tokyo map looked as good as the Berlin map in the freebie app, then this would be spectacular application!

Fabulous find!. We used OffMaps last summer to navigate through Italy: Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Bologna, Venice with ease and assurance! The ability to use the maps without wifi saves the day when you are in open spaces and want to save your roaming charges. The apps are intelligently designed. You can pin info as well as have Wikipedia info on hand in a snap. The transportation routes are at tour fingertips. Highly recommend their "flat rate" plan that allows unlimited map downloads. We Already have next summers venue :Paris, Athens , Turkey and are working the maps magic! No serious traveler should be without! The folks at OffMaps even answer your emails and customize your requests ! Can't ask for better service!

Reinstate Flat Rate?. I love this app for travel and am a "flat rate" user. Usually, if I haven't used the app in a few months, I get a message to pay 99¢ or reinstate flat rate. In attempting to reinstate I kept getting a message that my Apple ID was invalid, which I tested on other apps and it worked. I tried a hard reset on my iPad which did not work. Not wanting to change my Apple ID again, I emailed the customer contact link and got a prompt reply from Daniel who sent a voucher for a new flat rate membership. In the meantime I had deleted and reinstalled the app and this fixed the problem. I was impressed with the prompt response from Daniel and highly recommend this app.

A Superior App. One of the most useful apps on my iPad. If you travel or intend to this is a must have app on your Apple device. I'm guessing Offmaps is so named because it works beautifully offline. If you are GPS enabled (All phones and 4G iPads) it works even better with a location cursor that as fast as any I have ever used. As far as maps...cities, regions, (not whole countries) worldwide, highly detailed, easy to read with the really useful ability to easily "bookmark" (notate) sites, restaurants, hotels, anything. I've discovered that these bookmarks are especially handy if one has returned to a city you were in a few years ago and you just can't seem to remember where that great restaurant was located. No problem now! Once you get the hang of it, you'll be "bookmarking" and adding notes to all kinds of sites. I am in Amsterdam a lot! I have 100 plus notations and I can easily display all of them, zoom in to where I am and go directly to that wonderful little cafe I discovered a few months back. The $7 or $8 dollars you pay for unlimited maps is a very good deal. One is easily able to download, use, then delete (for space) and the download again as needed. Obviously I like this app, you will too.

Essential for any traveler. I can't count the number of times this app has saved me from getting lost abroad! It's free to use in every country after you buy access to their maps. It doesn't use wifi or cellular signals...just the gps in your phone. It's not perfect...some of the subway lines don't show where the stops are and the interface is pretty utilitarian. But this is the app I use the most exploring a new city. Absolutely essential for any traveler!!!

Great app, super useful!. I used the app in Spain, France and Switzerland! It was great!! No need of going online! The only thing missing would be the chance of getting directions to or from somewhere, though following the blue dot you can figure it out, it might be helpful. The maps worked well and helped me a lot!

Went from great to useless. Version 2 is a complete waste of money. No longer has ability to download user selected map regions. Now you have to buy maps from the store. Might be ok if you live in a covered area, but makes this 'upgrade' completely useless for me. Wish I'd read the reviews first before wasting my money. But I bought it based on the misguided belief that an upgrade wouldn't take away functionality. Too bad the old version doesn't work with iOS 4.2.6.

Simple and good. Not many features, just beautiful, detailed, offline maps. Maps tend to cover a large area and the app makes it clear what region the downloaded map covers. Maps cost $0.33 each--well worth it.

Support Excellent. Getting from the screen with a map back to "My Maps" is not obvious. I emaild my queston to "Support" on the OffMaps website and Felix was back to me very quickly with an email and instructions. FYI there is a curled corner of the map at the bottome right of the screen. Tap this and a screen appears that has a button for "My Maps". This gets you back. I am told there will be an upgrade with this corner colored so you will see it. The wideo on the website shows how tapping the corner works. I rated rated the app 5 stars for the selection of maps, their clarity and the many features. I will soon put the maps to use in Europe and see how it performs. More when I return.

BEST international travel app!!. I downloaded the Dublin, Ireland maps. Wow!! This worked amazingly well. I have an iPhone 5, and I switched to airplane mode for my entire trip abroad. The GPS on the phone was able to detect my location on the Offmap, so it was perfect for navigation with no data plan or cell signal. This was extremely helpful as I navigated through the city. The rail map was helpful for the light rail routes (including stops) and the street maps were helpful as we navigated on foot or in a cab. The bus maps were slightly helpful, although there were so many lines running through the city that it was difficult to determine how each bus line traveled through the city or where the actual stop was. Overall, I would definitely recommend this app to anyone planning to travel abroad without using expensive international data plans. When you download the app you get credits to download a couple city maps. Double-check the Offmaps website first to be certain that the map for your desired destination exists, as I believe the development teams are still working to complete some countries.

Invaluable. While this app isn't completely comprehensive with every street number or restaurant, it has been invaluable for the four months I travelled in Europe with my iPhone suspended. Every destination I went to, including small towns in Flanders, Bavaria, and France had maps. Being able to see transit maps and being able to pin all relevant landmarks prior to arriving in a new place has been amazingly helpful. I honestly don't know how I would have traveled without it. Thank you, app makers!

Does not work as advertised.. I watched a video about the application before I purchased. Complete faults advertisement the videos said it showed a turn by turn directions from current location it does not do this at least in the new version of the app. It is a complete waste of money sense they charge for map downloads, the initial 99¢ only includes two map downloads after that it's 99¢ or a $5.99 one time fee but for the features it has it is way too much. They have free offline maps that do exactly what this one Does just need to look.

OffMap2: New buyer review. Experienced traveler. Used to using a variety of maps and mapping tools, GPSrs, &c. I purchased this after reading good reviews, including one that mentioned that the maps were free after the initial purchase. I visited the vendor website, browsed several of their pages, and found no reference to the cost of downloading maps. Imagine my surprise when. after installing the app, I saw a reference to 2 maps left to download. I don't disagree with charging for maps, but the charge should be right up front. I eventually found a reference and explanation on their support page - not the first place I go for a product that I don't own. The cost for the maps ($1 USD for a "map") seems high given what seems to be a relatively small map area. The colors are not the best for distinguishing the various elements on the map. The color of buildings, for example, is similar to the general background - at least on the one map I have downloaded to date. It nonetheless seems that it will suffice, especially when I don't have my GPS (topo, street maps, sat images) and|or netbook w mapping program. I can see the benefit of using this during travels to load maps when WiFi is available, then use off line. Smooth running so far. ~R~

Cannot Restore Purchases. I paid for unlimited maps, yet it will not enable it in the app. I've tapped "restore flatrate", it prompts for my iTunes password, then nothing happens. No error. Edit: I had to tap the button to buy unlimited again. It says it will charge me a second time, but it instead restores the previous purchase. That is a scary way to restore, since it says it will charge you again.

Everything I was looking for except one (or two). Perfect for my uses. However, it would be nice to have icons (hotel, restaurant, etc.) to attach to my book marks as a way of organizing them. Also, please add a separate field for entering an address. Thanks for your hard work.

Terrific!. Having now happily used this in Paris and London, I have come to regard this as a must-have for any new place I go. I get the map before I leave home and can navigate while there without being dependent on Internet access to use it. A vast improvement over the paper maps I used to depend on. OffMaps also gives great support: I downloaded a map of a more obscure city, didn't understand aspects of the map so emailed my questions and they responded right away and were very helpful. This is one app that is gives great value.

Accurate Maps Offline. I just spent three weeks with no cell phone service and no data plan. Google maps allows maps to be cached - but the maps lose definition the further you are away from start. Offmaps shows names of streets everywhere within the purchased map. Triangulate off cell towers and you are good to go with a blue position dot. Oddly, freeway numbers didn't show up.

A Great Value. I honestly cannot figure out how someone could give this low-cost app a low rating. Even a high-end garmin unit (I have several) will steer you wrong in step-by-step navigation, and that's not a reasonable standard to judge OFFMAPS by. It's not a substitute for a full-blown use-every-day GPS. For travel, backup GPS, and use off the data network this is a terrific bargain. Worth more than I paid. Good work, OffMaps.

Promising, but not-yet-realized potential. This app exhibits enormous potential, but it's more of a public beta than a finished product. Aspects are remarkably polished, but gaping holes in the content and presentation quickly become evident. (I'm basing this review on the London and Paris maps, which should be amongst the most refined.) Some examples: most landmarks on the map such as park names are missing or hard to find/read; icons for restaurants, lodging and bus stops are un-labled and cannot be tapped for more information; you can add your own pins (bookmarks) but the app stops displaying them (infuriating), so there's no way to set up a bunch of weigh-points in a city and see them all at the same time and their respective relationships in order to plan a tourist day; the subway and bus map overlays are downright hilarious because none of the stops are actually labeled (!). The guide feature is pretty cool, however, once you begin to dig into it, and the ability for the app to cache a library of wikipedia articles about the city is killer. In short, this app is worth watching, and you might be able to wring some value out of it in its current form, but prepare to be frustrated. Hopefully the developer will aggressively refine it. p.s. I did not want to assign a star rating to this app in its current form, because none of the choices are even remotely appropriate: there's no choice that is fair to the developer or the customers.

Amazing map app!. I have been looking for a good offline map app. There are many out there. Most of them are not very good. I liked the layout of this map app. The look and feel are great. I like that this is a map as well as a guide, all rolled up in one. You do not have to download both the guide and the map. This makes it easy to use. I especially like the customer service. It is great! Felix is very responsive to my questions and when I needed some maps of some counties and cities, I had them in a very short time. Great Customer Service. One thing that would be helpful to people is to have more landmarks, such as park names, restaurants, parking garages, and other businesses and lodging. But, I know that this app will be improved in the future. This is a very good map app with room to grow. Keep up the good work.

Not perfect, but still pretty darn amazing. First of all, folks - patience! Give the dev team some time! Although the app is still missing a ton of land coverage, all major cities are on there and (in case you haven't noticed), a nifty email link for "request missing map" appears when you scroll over a mapless area. I feel like this app has become more of a "digital atlas" from the past version; true, you can't cache for free any area of the world. Instead, though, you buy individual maps loaded with much more content than version 1. The polish in the UI is truly appreciated; it looks really nice and feels like a sturdy, useable app now. Rendering is slightly slower than version 1 - kinda a downside - but is more reliable. The developers have done an admirable job creating the base for an app that, with map updates and time, is guaranteed to become a useful and comprehensive product. By the way, between oMaps and OffMaps, this wins hands down.

Amazing. I highly recommend this for users with an iPod touch. This is absolutely amazing

2 maps for free. The rest is for a fee.. Otherwise everything is good: street search and details. One more thing, it often crashes on ipad2. Pls fix.

Lynne. This is a great app. Found all the places I needed, and for those which I couldn't locate, I received helpful and fast advice by return email. Very handy!

Saved me many times!. Great app when travelling without internet access. So much more convenient than carrying a paper map, plus the ability to locate yourself on the map and drop a pin to find your way back to your rental car or hotel is fantastic.

Pretty decent. Has some nice features and a fairly slick ui. Could do with a few extra features though such as importing bookmarks from contact addresses and/or google maps starred locations. I guess routing is too much to hope for though. Minor issues: duplicate street names displayed at close zoom

Excellent maps for travelers. Just returned from a five week trip to five different cities and was lucky to have bought this app for my new iPad before I went. It was just great for planning and then using in each location to find our accommodation, restaurants, places of interest etc. Such a low price made it a really good buy with no additional cost to pay overseas. Have just loaded more maps for the next trip!

Great app. Covers Australia well, but if you need a map and its not available simple email the team and they will make one available. Top stuff well done guys!

Needs More. The first app was amazing, $1.19 (until price spike, so you buy the new version) for ipad compatible as well, but this has dropped the ball. You cant even plan a route. Unless I cant find it, which i have searched a lot for. To the developers, please add this basic feature.

Vietnam. In Vietnam first time using maps best friend a traveler could have . I have used it everyday multiple times a day. Worth every cent and no internet connection needed to use. Brilliant

Great Maps. We work in areas where there is no 3G, now we use Offmaps and it is easy, if there isn't a map, a quick request and it is there within a few days, great service, great app.

Great support. Off maps was recommended by a friend who has just returned from Europe. Faced with the task of driving through Paris to return a hire car to CDG I downloaded Offmaps2lite not realising it was a demonstration site only. Getting nowhere I emailed support on 3 occasions, receiving an extremely courteous reply each time. With the thought that even as a non paying customer I received such great service I paid my dues and downloaded the full App. I am delighted with the clarity and fullness of the maps and look forward to using them in Europe next year.I will report again upon my return. Best wishes, Peter Keam Adelaide,Australia

Highly Recommended for iPad 3. I've been looking for an offline gps app for some time. Having read the various reviews, I selected OffMaps 2. It is fantastic and very accurate. I live in Melbourne (Australia) and it even shows streets that Navman, Garmin and Tom Tom don't show. I run it on an iPad 3 (with Location Services running) and can highly recommend it.

Offmaps2. We used offmaps2 in Spain and found it to be excellent. We also used google maps which we discovered worked offline on the iPad (but not on the iPhone). Google had some advantages when driving long distances as it was easier to see where you were in the country rather than only being able to see one small area at a time. Also it had highway numbers whereas offmaps did not. Apparently they are working on this for the next version. In the cities offmaps had the advantage of Wikipedia links and easy bookmarking. Much easier in cities to follow where you are on a phone than on a map. You will never get lost with offmaps as all you have to do is bookmark your destination and a blue dot will reveal your present location.

Love it!. Works even better than the last version.

Frustrated. Why am I not able to transfer my purchases to my upgraded iPhone? I bought the package as well as individual maps. Why is not the “flat rate” activating ?

Beautiful rendering but maps no longer free. The new Offmaps 2 has beautifully rendered maps worthy of the iPhone 4 retina display. Unfortunately, unless I'm missing something, the maps themselves now have to be paid for. Maps that are downloaded by manual browsing using a data connection, while free, are no longer cached for later use with data unavailable or switched off. And the map packs (which are cached) are no longer free, apart from the complimentary starter pack of two small map areas.

I love this app!. I am so glad I found this app! I am going traveling around Europe for 3 months and have been stressing about roaming charges versus not having access to my maps. Awesome! Would be good to get directions with it, and to be able to get wider area maps, but have now downloaded 32 maps for $8!! Can't argue with that! Thanks!

Great to use and fun. Have been busy adding hotel bookmarks and looking at places interest for upcoming trip and have no complaints. So much easier than carrying around guide books on so many countries! Lovin' it.

A great companion to Google Map. I am traveling thru Germany, I basically downloaded entire German maps. It cuts down on my mobile data usage and get me out when I don't have mobile data. Google map is far more detailed, but OffMaps is its offline companion for travelers.

Brilliant!. This app is worth every cent. I just completed three weeks in Europe where I used this app every day (especially good for getting back to the hotel after getting lost in Venice). By far the best feature of this app was the ability to set favorites and drop pins. This allowed me to plan ahead of time what to see and do and never worry about remembering where to go or what direction to take. One thing I would like to see in future updates: the ability to have your favorites synced between devices. This would allow me to use the larger screen of my iPad to plan and set up the map and then use my iPhone while out and about. Regardless, with data roaming switched off and location settings on, this app cost me absolutely nothing while I was overseas. Will be sure to use again on my next trip. Highly recommended.

Works well. Great app for travelling around Europe. Handy while walking and driving. Does lack some detail out of the main part of the cities and routing would be nice but otherwise it does a great job.

Useless in Tokyo. The Tokyo maps are tiny requiring multiple downloads and constantly switching between maps to move around the city. It also couldn't find asakusa via search. Unusable in Tokyo.

Very good. Have used this in Madrid and was great. Location function and direction facing is very good also. Worth the price as also trialled other free ones which were no where near as good.

Thanks for the maps. I'm not rich enough for an iPhone or iPad, but I wanted an offline mapping solution that will work with Geosphere. Offmaps fitted the bill, except for some missing 'local' maps. Noticing the map request link, I gave it a go, really not expecting a response - but low and behold not only did they produce the map, they also emailed to say to say it was available. Top marks! Thank you.

Really useful app. Used this recently in Spain and Germany with no Internet access- extremely useful and saved us trouble numerous times. The train and bus line info has been very useful (although perhaps line numbers could be more obvious). Highly recommend this for traveling without Internet.

Great for travel. Really handy to have offline maps when travelling and you don't have access to data, made my life a lot easier on many occasions.

Off maps. Excellent app. Works perfectly

Works well, flexible, and OFFLINE!. Signed up for the flat rate maps. Really good value for the minimal outlay. Downloads reasonably fast. When I asked for a semi-obscure area without a map, they generated it, so kudos for listening to the customer. Maps fairly good tho a bit tricky to somewhere like South Korea due to spelling eccentricities. Now, if I could just figure out how to group them in folders, I'd be totally satisfied.

Very useful but.... ... Wish public transport icons were more distinctive. Having tiny tiny blue icons for ALL public transport options is very confusing. In London where the tube is so important, they should be a different colour to buses.

OffMaps2 - Offline Maps. Good quality maps of Jerusalem, although the old city should be more detailed

Brilliant. I have a trip coming up to Chicago, Amsterdam, Brussels, and London. This app is so useful for planning where to stay, what to see and will, save a lot of roaming charges enabling us to expire and navigate new cities.

Top material & top support. Not only high praise for the maps but the support is A-1, too. From Australia, I recently queried an obscure Dutch locality for our next holiday. Offmaps staff rapidly responded to our query, with extensive information re our destination. I'm more than pleased with the lifetime flat rate price, it's tremendous value. Absolutely loads of info for a one-off fee, plus that super support is there for free!

Great app, but still a work in progress. It's got a lot of info and is reasonably easy to use. It does however appear to be lacking some public transport information. I've only had a good look at a few German cities but a lot of train lines are missing from the public transport overlay. I could not use this to plan a short rail journey as it is currently. Other types of transport appear to be ok (i.e. bus, tram etc.) I can appreciate how much work it would have taken to get any public transport data together for this to begin with, but it is still a work in progress (as of the date of this post), so keep that in mind when plotting your journeys. If I could suggest that route names also be incorporated into the public transport overlay (perhaps as floating tags) so that one could identify bus, rail or tram lines without having to tap a network node. This would make navigating much quicker and easier. Overall a great product. Highly recommend

great app for OS travellers. I rate this app highly. Having just returned from Honolulu i used this app every day of my trip. I was so impressed that i am now writing my first review ever, and i am an app junkie! I have read comments that its not as good as google maps, why not use googlemaps blah blah blah, the point of this app to me is that it works flawlessly OS without occurring data roaming charges. Download your destination map, research your destination, bookmark your points of interest and your off! We hired a car and navigated the entire island using offmaps2 driving from bookmark to bookmark, the little blue dot indicating your location/direction of travell as accurate as any google maps i use at home. I dont believe you can "get directions" but this is not a problem if you can read a map, its not hard to see which direction you are going and how to get there. This app is an absolute must for Overseas travellers. If there is a better alternative i would like to know, i did a lot of research and tried some similar apps before deciding this was the best and i was not dissapointed.

Perfect for travel. Great app to use while traveling to avoid roaming charges. If only it had directions. Still very useful though

Lifesaver. Fantastic for both iPhone and iPad. Current maps, no data mobile data usage required and now access to a fair bit of info about the place you are traipsing around. Street indexing is AOK. Some puddling around working out how pins and bookmarks work, though. Highly recommended.

Fab app. This is a really great app, especially for travelling - when you don't want to be paying roaming Internet charges or you're far from towns. You can do everything you're used to with online maps: zooming in & out, bookmarking etc without the Internet. It's worth buying the flatrate then you can download whatever maps you need. I have also been impressed with the support offered through the offmaps website. It has been both very clear and very prompt.

Excellent maps on the go. Very useful app for iPod touch. Works well and i have been using it for a few years. Comprehensive coverage!

What a great app. When overseas data rates for cell phones are too expensive and you want to use google maps this app is the best alternative - AWSOME

Extremely useful for travelers. A fantastic app, have had it (and the previous separate app) for years. The developer is fast at responding to requests, and quickly added map/guide coverage to two areas that I requested. Only caveat is that it's missing the freedom of the previous app where you could simply select any area of the world and download map info directly. But then that's why I keep both versions around! 😃

Excelent Maps and excelent support. Very useful to have maps where you do not have 3g coverage, or when you are overseas and do not want to spend roaming money just to download maps. The map that I asked for was promply added by the support team! A+++

Very well thought out app. Excellent for travellers. Love how you don't need to have data roaming on when overseas and still can get gps position on map!

Brilliant for overseas travel. Get this app and purchase the flat map rate. Why ? If traveling overseas especially may major capital and smaller cities you have all your maps on the iPhone - no massive fold out maps or books. Also no data roaming charges - connect to a wifi to get extra maps if you change your travel plans.

Offmaps2. Bought an downloaded a few maps for upcoming trip...seem to offer good alternative to multiple SIMs. Also help desk provided quick, courteous resolution to minor query.

Really useful.... When in Bolivia, South America, earlier this year, having these maps already on my phone was incredibly useful. Just now the creators responded to my request for two extra maps! Now, isn't that good? I think so... Belinda

help desk. I had a bit of trouble (not because of the app, but cos I am not very practised) but I got very prompt, helpful service from Daniel at the help desk. Thanks so much, I wish all apps had such helpful support.

Good app and don’t think twice, buy the flat rate.. I’ve been using this app for a few years now and it’s great value. The flat rate enables a generous quota of maps; I’m about to delete some downloads which I no longer need and add others; I think the app allows this. And so important to have a map app which works offline. Face it, Google Maps sweet as it is simply doesn’t.

Terrible - doesn't work overseas!. I'm not sure what went wrong, but when I purchased the app it worked fine at home, but as soon as I went overseas (Rome, and Istanbul) the app completely froze and nothing worked. Once I got home, it was fine.

Brian. Relatively new user with iPad & apps but used this app extensively when on recent overseas 8 week holiday when excessive data charges using google maps nearly bankrupted us!. Took a while to familiarise with the full functionality & still learning but would happily recommend to any traveller. Seems to lack the ability to give directions as per google maps which some may see as a disadvantage but everything else worked a treat. Excellent support as well.

Point to Point directions?. Only purchased this because I thought it was possible to pre map routes. Maybe that feature is there, but I haven't found it as yet. However I do like this app regardless.....the maps are nice and crisp.

Excellent App!. An excellent map app! Very easy to use

Great tool for travelling. I have been using this app for a few years now in a lot of countries. It is an extremely useful tool, especially when the internet connections are rare or unreliable. The data is as openmaps can be and to my surprise i often found it had hikings trails in some areas. The support is great, they even went as far as fixing a map i had a problem with. Even if nowadays google allows you to save offline maps, i still find myself alternating between the 2 and they complement each other very well.

No street named. Do not buy this app. It purports to be an offline map solution but does not provide street names beyond the main thoroughfares! I downloaded Tokyo and Kyoto for an upcoming trip to Japan - well-documented cities! No street names? I'm glad I forked over my $0.99 if only to write a review to warn others to stay away from this worthless app. There must be something better.

Impressive and awesome. Bought this app for travel to other cities and have an offline map with gps enable. Impressive details and easy to use. I have download my hometown city map and it is accurate, gps location right on spot, many usefull information. Map are updated. Awesome support, if you need help or have a question, it is really fast and kind. Highly recommended app! And best of all, you pay only for what you use. App is free with 2 maps and for more you pay per download. No ads. No tricks, just a good app.

Great App. I think this app is great! I deliver in Vancouver but mostly rural Fraser valley and outlining areas. For the price and ease of this app it beats map books hands down. I can bookmark several addresses and route myself and for us drivers find restaurants and gas stations. Good work and is pretty up to date with growing subdevisions. BUDDYBEAR Driver 2740

Limited Maps. Only useful if you need maps for the major urban areas you may be in. Doesn't have maps for medium or small towns.

Quite Good. Street names are missing on some maps but overall I think it's good value for the price

Not good. Needs some basics. A map should be able to search for any address or zip code when it doesn't know the name of the place one seeks. This one fails in this regard. It should recognize intersection descriptions. It comes back with an error that the address is not on the map. The smarts in the address search behave oddly. Typing in " E 3rd " begets a response of 111 street. The bus map for New York does not work. Subway one does. Zooming is good. Lot of Hotels do not show up in the search. All in all, less than stellar. Won't want to buy any more maps until they improve the basics. Roadtrip update 110820: 1) Address search makes mistakes, rarely correct. In a word: Incompetent. 2) Bookmark utility acceptable however changing views looses the displayed map pins forcing you to re-enter bookmarks and remake your selections. In a word: Clumsy 3) Database for restaurants etc. very incomplete. In a word: disappointing. 4) Street names hard to find. Scroll long distances to read the names. In a word: tedious. 5) Bus overlay map shows stops but not routes. In a word: Useless. 6) Subway map show routes and stops. Popups show connections but you must drill down. The one for NY in incomplete and incorrect. Many better subway maps avail. 7) Correction to previous review. Pin dropping works great. Bookmarking new and existing sites works great. This product is not recommended until some basics are fixed. Not sure why some rated it excellent. A paper map performs better. I am willing to pay more for maps that work correctly, display useful metadata, remember my preferences and don't require me to repeat myself every time I open the map.

Very disappointing. I was hoping this would be a better version of OffMaps which is an app I really like. But instead it seems more like a downgrade. In fact it is a stretch to even call it a map application. It is more of a tourist guide app that includes maps for the regions covered by the guides you purchase. I greatly preferred the original which gave you maps of everywhere without having to specifically download them, then allowed you to purchase guides for the areas you are interested in. I had purchased guides for pretty much every location I have travelled to for which they included a guide. The old app was useful even in the areas where they did not provide guides. The guides were simply a valuable addition. But in the new version the guides seem to be the center and the map a mere afterthought. There are some things I like about it's interface better than the original, and if they would go back to allowing you to view the map of the world with the guides being the addons, then I would give this app more stars. Or if it were advertised as a collection of tourist guides rather than a mapping application I would rate it better. But for its advertised purpose it is definitely a big step down from the original.

Strange, but good. The crashes stopped once my first map finished dowloading and expanding. Sorry about the big scare.

Offmaps 1 better. The older version of offmaps was better, you only had to pay for maps, not guides AND maps. And you could choose a custom area, not premade. And it had 4 map themes!

Off maps. Great when I needed some maps for unusual areas they delivered, quickly really good Gysbertha Meessen

Maps are out of date. When I pay for a map, I want the latest version, with street and new highways that were open a year ago. This app does not deliver it.

useless. as all know, a map w/o data is useless, well this app is very close to it: I bought the flat rate for “unlimited" download for maps, only to find out that most street names are missing: you are lucky if you can find any street with name. Save your money. Google maps is much better with way more data, and free.

Mr. Saved maps don't have correct city boundaries. The search function doesn't let you search street addresses.

Works perfect, great maps!. Used this for 2 weeks in Germany, Sweden, and Denmark. It even showed paths inside of parks. Very happy :) thanks OffMaps for improving my trip!

Don't buy. The first version was difficult to use but this one is incomplete and they are only after your money by adding extra costs on a map that is incomplete. Save your money the same map (complete) is available free. I would hove rated this at zero stars, if it had let me.

Awesome. Awesome app. Great job guys!!

Awesome offline maps, amazing customer service!. Being able to download maps before you go and being able to access them without a wifi connection is a godsend! The maps work great and it's well worth the price you pay. Get the flat rate and download all the maps you need before you go. I was leaving very shortly for a trip and there was only one map of a smaller town that I didn't have. I thought what the hell and contacted customer service; a day and a half later I got a response saying that they added the map I needed! I mean seriously, where do you get service like that these days. Awesome. All in all a great purchase!

Great travelers resource!. I have traveled to SanFran and Copenhagen this year with this app and I have found it very useful and reliable. I have another trip to Ecuador this summer and I had hoped there was a map for some cities there but sadly they didn't. I simply contacted the development team with a deadline for my trip departure, and they managed to get the city fully set up on there in time! Customer responsiveness, and the apps usefulness, ease of operation, and reliability make for a 5 star recommendation from me!

Useless outside cities. Unlike other OSM mapping apps, the maps are individual, discrete, and organized around cities. If you want to travel from one city to another, then you may or may not be able to download enough maps to cover the trip--I found no way to tell whether the mapping is complete--but you will need to find the maps alphabetically by city and download them one at a time. For cross-country travel this app is useless.

Best Travel App. This is the best offline map app there is on the market. It's a great tool to have when your on the go and have no wifi signal.

Décevant. I touche I would get the same features like in the first version. Its a downgrade...

Crash a lot in ios5.1. It was ok in my old ipad, but now it crash a lot in my new iPad with ios5.1.

Awesome app. I've used off maps since version 1,it's always been my #1 go to for navigation. I don't like paying for data and this has always been my solution for that when I don't know how to get somewhere. I would however like to see the possible implementation of multiple bookmarked locations :)

Money grab.. I wish I had of read the reviews, but as an original version user I followed the upgrade prompts only to find out everything costs money. At least I could get maps free with the first version. I do not recommend this app to anyone.

Disappointing. Not only is it centered on cities only, and does not offer like the previous version the possibility to manually download maps, but on my 3 gen iPad it crashes after 2 minutes of use. I had already paid for Offmaps 1; when I had to pay for the upgrade that was disappointing enough, but this isn't even a quality app...

Great when traveling without roaming. Great tool. I was traveling in Vietnam and downloaded a few maps (Saigon and Hanoi). Was able to better understand where I was when walking around or taking taxi.

Wonderful App. Good heavens people, stop whining about the map cost in v2. When did you last get a good city map for 33c, and 2 are included in the app purchase. It's an excellent application and having an offline database is quite the rescue when no wifi is around. I recommend it.

Great for walking/ biking, not so great for public transit. I've used this app a couple of times where I got lost (no gps on an iPod) and was able to find my bearings and get back on track. However when you're thinking of using this app to get a route for public transit, you're out of luck. Instead of route numbers, all you get are colored lines that show the routes themselves. My advice to the developers, add route numbers to the public transit likes and make the bus stop markers a little more opaque.

Off maps 2 a Great App. This is a fantastic app. I have used it for over 2 years now, and it's worked great. You download the cities you're going to visit when you are in a wi-fi zone, and then when you travel your GPS tracks on a map that doesn't use Internet data, which is expensive out of country. It's a great app for Cruisers travelling to foreign ports.

Highly Recommended. The quality of the maps are great and the support is quick and responsive.

This app is a ripoff. This app is vastly inferior to version 1 because: -You must pay for maps. -Maps can only be downloaded in specific areas, you can't select an arbitrary bbox to download. -The maps are not the latest data on OSM, they are out of date. Download version 1 of this app, it is much better.

Map quality needs to be improved. Map quality is rather poor to the point that the application is virtually impossible to use. Road names are visible for largest roads only on the average zoom and in very small font only. To get smaller road names user must go maximum zoom, average zoom map has practically no labels.

Very Handy. Used this app on a recent cruise. I downloaded city maps for each port of call before leaving home. The maps were accurate and easy to use. Because the maps are on my iPad I didn't need to pay for data plans or roaming charges in the various ports.

Not Compatible. No one mentioned that this app is NOT COMPATIBLE WITH iPod Touch 2G!

Does not work. All of my maps now are just blank pages (it was working for all of 3 minutes to start) and I have yet to hear back from the 'support team.'

Highly Recommended. Travelled to 9 countries and 16 cities in Eastern Europe. Downloaded app in advance, researched sites of interest, bookmarked them on map which made it easy to plan our site seeing routes in each city. Always worked well. Only drawback is that sites are often listed in the language of the country so sometimes difficult to find in the lists provided.

Excellent service. I bought this app 3 days ago, and it didn't have the map I wanted. I emailed the company, and here is my map, just 3 days later. You cannot get better service than this.

Offmaps 2 is a downgrade. Biggest pros • pretty interface • searchable (finally) Biggest cons • A pay app that charges for the very function you thought you were paying for?? Version 1 does offline maps at no extra charge. Stick with it. • developer left first version to die. Expect them to do it again to this one.

Good but Incomplete. sort tripple street names mess, bit more accurate. needs update.

Hangs up constantly!. ...

Works really well. I paid for the unlimimited maps because I will be taking a very long trip later this year. I've already downloaded about city maps, most of which will be new to me. But I did download a map of an area in the UK that I familiar with as a test. I was amazed at the detail you can get from the map. I looking forward to using the app I'm the Middle East & S E Asia later this year .

Nice. Would be nice to be able to connect the different parts of maps we download. Exemple: we are visiting Italy. We have to open to much different maps to make our itinarery.

Street names missing. Only get 3 maps for the purchase price and only shows about 10% of the street names. Prob worth 99c but would not buy any other maps knowing not all street names are shown.
