Great customer service. The updates have helped a lot over the years. I've been using this app for a long time and my kids always ask me to check it to see if they have money. It works great for them to understand how to save for something. The most recent update scared me though, as I thought I had lost everything; years worth of savings info, etc. I emailed the developer with my panicked frustrations. He got back to me almost immediately with instructions on how to fix my account. They worked perfectly and I'm back in business. I was very impressed with his customer service. :)

Once you sync it all gets messed up and goes away 😭. I set this up meticulously for all 6 of my children. Spent hours (days). Then I synced it to their iPads and poof half the stuff was gone, some stuff deleted and everything mixed into different categories. So I tried to fix it. Then I opened it again and the same thing happened! Then every single time it syncs something goes missing or changes. I bought this on two devices. What a waste of $6. Let me know if you find an app that does all this stuff but actually works 😭😭😭😡

Frustrating and glitchy. I liked that this app was not a subscription like many of the other options out there, but I regret buying it. First after I spent all the time creating a profile for each of my kids and setting up their respective chores I wanted to delete a copy profile I had and all 3 profiles got deleted. Now I’m adding everything again and I see the app somehow downloaded twice to my profile so now I have 2 versions of the same app on my phone. I tried contacting the developer but their server is bouncing the emails…

I love the app. I love the app even though some things are not very intuitive and user friendly and I know as I design apps myself! I am unable to see if there is a glitch though or is it something to do with settings that I’m not able to see all the stars earned by my child on the chalkboard or under the Stars...it is showing a partial amount though!? Please help. This has been the most efficient app so far with my three kids being motivated to do chores but it would help to make it more user friendly and not complicated to figure out certain problems like one I have. Thanks!

Do not recommend any longer. I do not recommend this app any more it has been great until the last update where now you are not allowed to is the app without creating an online cloud account. I do not want to create an online account i want to keep track on my phone how i have always done. Now i have no way to tell what my kids balances are since i am not allow to open the anymore with out a big brother type account.

I want to love this!. I have set up this app to be used with my two children. They each have their own device, an iPad and an iPhone and every time I sync it between devices it jacks up the currency’s and the stars and even deletes chores and rewards. I have added the chores and the responsibilities back in there several times and they keep getting deleted. The order and the sections keeps hitting deleted and chores are put into certain areas and mixed up. Also the Curren$y keeps getting altered. I have all the parental controls on no one else has access to this account. I am using my Dropbox to sync all devices due to the fact that everyone has their own iCloud account. We are all using my dropbox account. Please get back to me - I want this to work.

Lost my data but was able to recover it. Thankfully another person had my same issue and wrote a review about the updated version of iAllowance. The updated version appears to have erased all of your data. The message that pops up even says that it might have. Thankfully, once you create a new account with your same credentials, the data returns. It doesn’t return immediately so give it 24 hours.

The Best Option. I went through about 5 of these apps and none of them would track chores and allowance/time effectively. The programmers were clearly not parents. I don’t know the story of this developer but they get it. We went from months of struggling through various other options to a streamlined process managing chores across 3 kids. Love it!

Such a helpful tool!. We were recommended this app a year ago so we gave it a try and we have loved it so much! Instead of our kids walking around with money, we keep track of all their transactions on the app, helping them learn how to track their expenses and see what their spending habits are. We love that we can have different savings categories and if we ever choose to add chores or rewards then we can do that too. I recently had issues with the new update and Jim, the app developer, was extremely helpful with my questions and helping me get it setup correctly- thanks!!

Makes allowance so easy!. We have 2 kids and want to instill good financial understanding in them. We tried a few different methods and nothing ever stuck. I found this app recommended on a page on Pinterest and thought I’d give it a try. My only hang up is that it takes a while to set up and figure out how and what your families reward system looks like (not really an issue with the app at all). When I did have a question, I emailed the developer Jim and he solved my problem super quick! Overall, this app is a great motivator for kids and helpful for parents to track behavior, chores and of course the money! Thanks so making it so easy!

8 years & Counting. This has been a great app to keep track of the kids’ allowance and birthday gift money. Very easy to use and nice that it’s possible to download this information into an email to save and share with the kids. Thanks for making it available, and for the responsive customer service when questions (about settings) have come up!

We’ve loved this for years!. My children have different privileges based on their ages. This app allows me to customize what percent of their allowance goes toward spending, saving, charity, etc. They also earn interest for money they keep in their savings. All of this is done virtually, so I can easily allow them to spend money after checking their balances, all while we’re out in the world. My mom always forgot to give me my allowance & we both felt terrible about it. I set up my preferences and iAllowance does all the thinking for me. My kids and I couldn’t be happier. James is friendly and lightning fast when replying to app concerns. Thanks for helping me parent money-wise kids, James!

Used this for years. I’ve recommended this app so many times. Have four kids and have used it as their savings account. When we are out and about and they want a treat—they pay. It’s so good for all of us.

Makes it so easy!. We love this app! With three kids it makes it so easy to keep track of their allowance, what they are saving, spending and donating. Plus, it allows you to add chores and keep track of those, too.

Where is the support?. The app takes you to the website and the links on the website take you nowhere.

Great allowance app for kids. It’s one of the few apps I have paid for and enables me to encourage positive behavior and discourage negative behavior. As the kids get older I have modified this app from a chores earn stars reward system to a weekly allowance and enables them to track spending and savings habits.

Sync does not work with he apple family plan. Update!!!! They made an update that allows for a much easier sync. I now love this new process. The developer was very quick to respond and communicated the update. I was impressed. I synchronize the number of devices quickly. Although it was easy to set up on the iPad and synchronize with my phone, my kids phone is in entirely different story. We have a family iCloud plan to share apps. But we are separate account. The iCloud sync should work, but it does not. Not being able to synchronize this across the entire family makes it worthless. Dropbox is not an option When you already have ICloud family

Excellent Customer Support. We have used this app for a couple of years. It has been a great way to track our kids’ allowance and I love that it allows you to break out spending, saving and giving. We had a minor hiccup in the app last week. When I reached out to the developer, I had a response the SAME DAY. After a couple emails, we had a solution and we were back up and running. It was amazing to get such a prompt and helpful response. Thank you!

Love it!. Been using iAllowance for years and love it. My kids know exactly how it works and how to keep track of their chores. The updated version had some changes and each time I contacted Jim he was quick to reply and very helpful! Thanks for a great app!

Great app for kids and parents. My family has been using this for years, the latest update embeds syncing in he app making. It easier for kids to track their balances and spending. Highly recommended!

Data IS Still There — I owe developer an apology. I previously wrote a scathing review because the recent update appeared to have deleted my data. I followed the instructions for recovering data and it still was not there. Then, a day later (today), I tried it again and it went through the very same process and this time it was there. I wish the developer had provided a more clear explanation of what was going on and how to more seamlessly update, but it still is a great app.

Concerns with accuracy + poor update. The latest update (to 3.0) has a couple problems. First, you are now required to sync with the app’s developer, so Dropbox is no longer supported. You can’t even get into the app until you create an account with them to sync. Extremely inconvenient, as I needed to verify a balance for a kid, but didn’t want to set up an account yet. Next, I had previously disabled the allowance for one of my kids for the past several months. The updated app treated that whole period as if it were enabled, so suddenly they had a huge balance. I had to individually delete 28 entries in each bank. [Update re: the following paragraph: the developer is correct that the allowance was set up using percentage, explaining the periodic penny shift. Adding one star back.] As for the accuracy, as I was deleting each individual entry as described, the balance would occasionally be reduced by an extra penny. The whole-dollar amounts of the erroneously added entries were not tabulated as precisely. It was a difference of a few cents, but concerning nonetheless.

Now REQUIRES and Iallowance account. Opened up the app today to find that I can’t access my data unless i create an iAllowance account for syncing. This was a great app, but this requirement is ridiculous. I paid for this app partly due to its support for dropbox syncing. Now, it seems, they want my data and are going to force users to create an account before even opening the program. STAY AWAY from developers like iAllowance that force you to provide your data and remove functionality within a product you previously paid for.

Poor implementation. Fairly well designed, but the parent/child setup is wildly poor. Having to enter a password EVERY time I want to use it? No thanks. There needs to be parent accounts and child accounts, and the simple ability to restrict what a child account can do without tying it to a password. My kids have phones, they should be able to access and record their chores. I should be able to use the app as an admin without having to enter passwords all the time.

Useless. I have family sharing set up between my account and my kids. I'm logged into my phone using my iCloud account. My son is logged in through his iCloud account. This app doesn't sync between the devices like that. Unless you have same iCloud account in all devices, it won't sync. I feel ripped off.

Works well, needs more features. We've been using this for years and years, and it works fine. The syncing is great. I wish it had more advanced features, such as a built-in timer.

Useful app. I have found this very useful as I have found no other app for keeping track of the various currencies my kids accumulate (money, points, video game time). It also keeps track of chores and on this front the app is on par with other apps available. The only problem I’ve run into that needs to be fixed is that the Chore reminders do not follow the schedule of the chores. I can set a once a week chore but will receive reminders every day.

No interest?. User interface is not intuitive. It is not clear how to add interest to the savings account. This makes it difficult to justify savings over spending.

Extremely responsive developer and great app!. I never write reviews, but I’ve been using this app for a couple of years now, and it does exactly what I need it to do. It automatically adds allowance into the various categories for my three kids AND automatically subtracts money for my oldest’s cellphone service. And then adding or subtracting money based on what they’ve been gifted or spent is very easy. I really love it, and the paid version is totally worth it! But beyond that, my husband’s phone took a bath, and he had to recreate everything he had on it. That caused an issue where our data disappeared (long story), which would have been horrible for my kids to try to figure out who had what. However, Jim, the developer, was SO VERY responsive. He worked very hard and very quickly, even over a weekend, getting our data back and onto the newer version of the app. Everything is back and all set! Since the app now has a login and password, we are quite unlikely to ever have the syncing issue again. I have never dealt with such friendly and responsive tech support in my life!! As you can see, I think the app is wonderful, but more importantly, the developer is committed to making sure it works. Thank you for this great app and tech support!!!

*Sync fixed*Cannot get the app to sync. I just set up the app on my device and synced to iCloud. My kids iPads are in my iCloud but nothing appears for them when I sync. I went to the FAQ page on the website and watch the tutorial and my settings look nothing like the tutorial settings. I have a Dropbox account but do not have the option of choosing to sync to Dropbox in the app. Update I was contacted by the developer and was able to figure out how to sync between my device and my kids device. I am opting to use Dropbox. Setting up the Dropbox sync was much easier than iCloud. That being said we have just started to use it. I will update again once we get the hang of it.

Well done app, wish parental controls were better. I do really like the app but I really wish I could lock the kids out from making changes. It’s helpful and motivating for my kids to see how many stars/$ they are earning. I downloaded the app on both my phone and their iPad. That way I could mark their chores complete and they’d be able to see what they earned. Problem is, I am unable to lock them out from making changes on their device, so by the the next morning they’d each marked a month of chores already complete.

4-year user!. This app has been my trusty sidekick for tracking my kids’ allowance for the past 4 years! I don’t use much more than the basics, but there are plenty of functions you can access to customize to your family’s needs. I do have multiple accounts for each kid in the event that they want to save up for a specific item. Great app, highly recommend!

Awesome!. Was PERFECT for what I wanted to track. I love that you can track time and assign minute amounts as rewards for chores. We use chores as a way to earn "screen time" (tablet, video games, tv) and this has been an amazing way to track it. The kids love seeing that check mark that adds time into their "bank" and I added a monthly allowance that is automatically added to their bank on the first of every month. I can't recommend this app enough. Once you take the time to set it all up, it is a complete breeze to use. And changing or adding things is easy once you know your way around the app. Love it! Thank you for making something so useful!

Developer/Support seem to have fallen off planet. We’ve used this app for several years as a sort of ledger for kids’ birthday money, purchases, etc and some automatic allowance granting. When I recently deleted something I shouldn’t have and attempted to contact support, I came to realize that the developer seems to have vanished. All his apps haven’t been updated in a few years, online documentation/FAQs out of date & inaccurate, support email goes unanswered (except an auto-reply citing COVID delays), etc. Address for the company is a personal residence - and it was sold a few years ago - so doubt there’s anyone else who is taking the reins. Anyway, the app seems functional, but support has vanished, so beware.

Would love the app if it counts correctly. I paid for and downloaded the app to easily keep track of my kids allowances and thought this app would be perfect. I made accounts for each one of my kids and was able to set a personal allowance for each one. Unfortunately the app doesn’t count correctly. The sum of their allowances is not equal to the total displayed. The end up thinking they have way more money than they actually have. Love the idea, but unfortunately the app doesn’t work for multiple kids. I tried to contact the help line, but never got any response.

5 years and still happy!. Our family truly loves this app. W started using this app 5 years ago to initially track allowance for my two young children. Holding onto actual cash became daunting. It has been a great training tool for teaching them how to manage their money. Once, many moons ago, we had a glitch and the support was great and solved our problem. (my error, not the developers) We have it set up for Spend, Save, and Share. Each week their allowance is divided up and automatically placed in their “banks”. Birthday money and holiday gifts get added to The Spend account. We used to use it for chores and although it worked well in the app, it didn’t work for our family’s needs. We have used the rewards part when they were young but now that they are teenagers it isn’t needed. I have many friends using iAllowance now with much success.

Great app. Works really well and the customer support was great- I only needed it once and the issue was resolved on the first try!! Kids like to have this tracked using this app and it really helps them manage their money

I use it everyday!. This is the bank for my kids spending money and a great checklist for chores. We’ve definitely had syncing issues, but the app itself is so good that we use it regardless. I have a small allowance set up weekly, and chores set to run on a star system. When they have 25 Stars, they can trade that in for a dollar (I do this through two rewards transactions). Works great!

Not worth time-never mind $$. This is the absolute worst app I have ever used. I never write reviews but felt compelled to do so. After creating chores for my 4 kids I found that as I went back into the app it would lose its memory. Pre-canned chores like empty the trash would become “new chore” on my sons ipad. When I would select “fold laundry” I would come back in after closing the app and it changed to selection to “make bed”. There is no way to accurately track what is happening unless you remember every detail and constantly update. I’ve already spent too many hours re-fixing thinking perhaps it was a user error only to find out this app doesn’t work.

Great learning tool for kids. This app has been very helpful for our family. Gives our kids the tools they need to learn about money and how to manage it. It also stopped them from stealing from each other which, sadly, was a problem with real cash. :( I’m not thrilled that the developers changed the data storage without warning us first and giving us a chance to export the data, but in the end, the new system works better.

Great allowance app. This app has a lot of functionality and I’ve been using it for years. It’s improved over the years. The only problem I have now is it’s glitchy at times. It may not allow me to add a transaction after I log in, but once I switch bank views back and forth it fixes itself. Overall I really like it and appreciate the ease of tracking different balances for my kids and entering detailed transactions.

Great help for parents!. This app has helped me so much in managing my kids allowance. Now i don’t have to worry about them having their stash of cash at Target or remembering what they “owe” me later, i can just do it all digitally, and they can see it too. So helpful. I had a question about something and the developer got right back to me and helped me quickly. Loving it.

Great Expectations and Suggestion. I have three kids and with this app, rules and carrots as well as penalties are clearly set. No more having to repeat reminders, they are all their choice now.... hopefully anyway because it’s only been three days. While my hopes are high, ways to configure can and should be improved - am sure so many dads and moms have tons of potential feedbacks. And one of many other things in my mind (for multiple kid management) is to have “common chore” setting. Right now, the app allows choice from a list of chores to be allocated to individual kids-three kids in my case. After allocation, when I need to change the compensation (e.g. to increase stars for a chore), I need to visit the same chore three times when if there was a “common chore”control would simplify tremendously. But I am sure this is a greap leap forward and will stick to this app for a while. Great job!

Love this app!. A friend recommended iAllowance when we were talking about good ways to teach kids about money management. One of the best apps On my phone! This app has helped in so many ways : they can watch their money grow, they have to think about every purchase and if they can afford it and if they even need what they are thinking about buying! I recently had trouble getting into my account. I sent email and heard back (very quickly) from Jim, the developer. Problem was fixed quickly and easily. Really great customer service!

Excellent app. I wanted to give my kids allowance but the same time also help them understand the difference between money to be saved, money they can spend and money they would be able to donate to charity. The same time I needed to be able to give them money for various chores they help me doing, or things I wanted to award them for. This app does exactly all these things and more. It‘s super easy to setup and operate, and if you ever run into an issue- which happened to me- you can email the developer and he gets right back to you with a solution. Great app, and highly recommended.

Makes incorrect automatic allowance payments. I was relatively happy with the. One issue is that all family users use the same account. You can’t have different users with different functionality. But the biggest issue is that the automatic allowance payments often makes 2 or even 3 duplicate payments. Now I have to go back and correct the entries. And I can’t erase the entries easily. I have to edit the entry as a 1 cent deposit because I can’t erase and can’t leave the entry with a zero value.

I almost love it!. I love how easy it is to keep track of how much my kids have earned. It's great for on the go when we're at the store and they see something they really want, I can quickly check if they have enough money. Love that I can predetermine their savings and charity money and it works automatically. Some reviewers said navigation was hard, but I found it fairly intuitive. Yes, it takes a little bit of time to figure the app out, but it's not terrible. I do have two complaints though... I have always based my kids allowance on the amount of chores they've completed (getting the stars), but there is no option for this. They get their allowance whether they've done their stuff or not. I have to manually do a transaction to take money away that they didn't earn. I really wish there was an option to base allowance on stars. (Or keep it the same way since some people do pay the same every week no matter what.) Not sure why I put in there that each star was worth 10¢ because it doesn't really matter. Also, I've been able to sync to my iPad and my son's iPod, but not my other son's iPod. I've tried both the opulence syncing (all of their iPods are I my account) and through Dropbox, but for some reason it always syncs with the one iPod but not the other. It makes it hard when I have 4 kids trying to record their jobs everyday...they always want to record all at the same time, of course. If those two things worked, this app would be perfect in my opinion!

Everything I need, working perfectly. This has way more features than we need, but the base functionality that we use - an allowance as a percentage of their savings – is so much better than anything else that’s on the market that we couldn’t get by without this. As the kids have grown, they’ve been able to see the impact of their purchasing decisions on their long-term income. Now that they’re 12-year-olds, I wish it had a chart and long-range planner they could use to see the present value of future allowance. Or maybe a “read-only” version they could sign into. Not because I don’t love the app, but because I love scope creep more.

Iallowance stole my data. After years of using iAllowance to track spending savings and charity accounts for both of my kids, I allowed and suddenly and with no warning lock down the app unless I provide an email address. Why do they need an email address? This is an app for keeping track of children’s financial data. There is absolutely no reason they should have to associate it with any email account. And if I don’t provide one? My kids’ financial data is held hostage. Without access to this app, I truly don’t know how much money they’ve earned, or saved. I can make up amounts, but what does that teach my kids? I allowance, you’ve stolen years of my kids financial learning. I’m disgusted and done.

Love this!. This makes it so much easier to track kids allowance and easily set it up for spending savings and giving. With actual money, my kids were always getting into each other's piggy banks and playing with their money and never really had any clue how much they had. Plus it was a pain to remember to get actual cash to give them for their allowance. This is way easier. They are four, six, and nine years old.

IAllowance App. The IAllowance app is a great motivation tool for children. It has everything that I was looking for to set up a motivation system for my child. My son has been using it for the past 6 months and has almost reached his first goal. I believe it is a good tool for teaching the value of money.

Great Motivator. We use a combination of financial reward to accumulate a week allowance, and the star reward system to reward good habits and behaviour and penalise bad habits and behaviour. Also sync it across multiple devices using dropbox. Simple, efficient and motivating for the kids.

Great but looks ugly. The good: Great app, works as described. The bad: Looks ugly (like a 1970’s app). Needs refresh - colour, clean lines etc. Tutorial is incomplete. Small learning curve needed. Trial and error works.

Great app and stunningly good support. I've played with a few apps like this but none come close to this one in terms of flexibility and ease of use. I had a minor issue with the setup and emailed the app support. I had an answer and a fix within 5 minutes! Works brilliantly. Thanks

Fantastic App!!!. Wonderful app, just what I was looking for to manage chores & pocket money for my kids. Worth every cent for teaching kids how to manage their jobs & own money as well as giving me back my sanity by no longer having to "nag"!!!

Very glitchy. Considering I paid for this app I’m disappointed that it’s so glitchy. It randomly ticks chores I haven’t ticked all the time. Other glitches include missing icons and a funny way of jumping around to different chores when I select a chore in the edit screen. The idea of this app is great and it’s very comprehensive. Almost to the point of being overly complicated actually. There’s a lot to it. If the glitches were solved and the layout was improved or more customisable this would be top notch. I must mention the help I received from the app developer when I emailed while I was setting up the app. It took a few days and I’d already solved my problem but I appreciated that he got back to me (however he did ignore my comment about glitches).

Great App!. It makes it so easy to keep track of when the chores get done and automatically adds it all up! And it subtracts for misbehavior too. So helpful!

Kids love it. Since I was always forgetting to organize the cash for 'payday' my kids are loving the app that automatically deposits their pocket money. As parents we are loving that the kids are keeping track of the chores, not us. Mornings are hectic as it is so this app has made life easier and less stressful.

Waste of money. Lots of syncing problems between my son’s app and mine. It makes it impossible to know whether he’s done his chores or not and how much of his pocket money I should give him as a result, his chores are all valued for his total overall pocket money. I got this app so I didn’t need to keep giving him reminders to do his chores but he doesn’t get the notifications. I get them instead. I got this based on the other reviews but it’s definitely not met expectations and we’ve stopped using it.

Great app. We use this app with our 3 kids all under 12. We sync via drop box as iPad is first generation, also use the newer version of app on iPhone 6 and 5. Works well

Just get it! Awesome.. Fabulous incentive tool for kids allowances/chores/miscellaneous tasks. Looks great, functions brilliantly. Takes 15 minutes to play around with it and get the feel of how it works, then set it up for your own use. Replaces the lists/star charts around the house, and it's so easy to add new jobs and 'banks' in. It's flexible and dynamic. Banks can be based on money or stars. It also automates so much manual calculation, and uses list, bar and pie chart methods for representing info. Love the import picture option for rewards so kids see what they're working towards: would like to see this included as an option for chores list too, even in icon form, for young kids/people who find visual images easier to understand. I'd also like to be able to have additional categories like 'chores' so i can create lists for 'house chores', 'school work', 'behaviours' etc. At present they are all in one list, would be nice to have them grouped under headings. Brilliant tool, I'll be recommending it without question.

Brilliant! Amazing!. I would pay so much more for this app. It works at such a basic level for my 3yr old (stars) or can be made to suit teenagers. Fully customisable. Can take a little bit of fiddling to set up but there is great online support and you tube videos. Once you've got it how you want it it's off and running and easy to upkeep. I use this app everyday between my four kids and will be using it for years to come. Love it!!!

Fantastic. Great app for keeping track of where chores and rewards are up to. Gives the children something visual to work to. Very user friendly and easy to adapt for different currency. Love the copy feature so I can set up one child and copy those that apply to all!

Jenelle. This app is fantastic. Not only can we (and the kids) keep track of their allowance as it automatically accrues and separates into different 'accounts' (save/spend/invest/charity/etc) but we also add their expenditure in as they spend their allowance, track their chores, put a star value on rewards they want, and give them excitement and incentive in their daily tasks! Easy to use, highly effective app. Great interface and fantastic customer support. I had one buggy issue and it was sorted out immediately. Great value. I highly recommend this app!

Exactly what I wanted in a virtual pocket money for kids. I have four kids and I hate having to have cash around to give out weekly pocket money and for extra chores. I wanted an app that I could use on my device as a parent and have the kids get a read only view on their devices. There are so many apps out there but none could do this well. iAllowance has been great. I've had a couple of small issues with syncing. Maybe the newer iCloud syncing will fix that. But otherwise the app has been perfect. Well worth the purchase price. Feature requests: 1) Allow me to log into to my parent account using touchid on my device. 2) Use the Notifications page to quickly deposit/withdraw money from kids accounts for good/bad behaviour and extra chores. Cash days are gone and I'm loving it! Keep up the great work. Rob.

Very usable, but syncing doesn't work properly. We moved to this app from Kid Pointz. iAllowance is much more stable and intuitively usable. I have a gripe with its ability to sync across our iDevices (3). In most case I find the app does not sync properly. When changes are made, I find that they are not reflected on the other devices. I would have given the app 5 stars if not for the poor sync experience.

Happy. Very happy with this app we print our own reward chart every week and now we are gonna save a heap on paper and ink, plus my son will be able to track how far away he is from his reward.

Great app. Works perfectly for all our needs. Great to have pocket money tracking and rewards in the one app. No regrets upgrading to paid version at all. Updates have only improved the experience.

Good concept glitchy sync. It’s a great app, easy to set up and manage. But a nightmare to sync between devices. My son does his jobs and tucks them off on his iPad. I then check and approve the payment for the jobs on my iPhone. Drop box is a glitchy method to sync between devices. I’m looking for a better app.

Love it. I allowance is great, I love that you can have pocket money, savings & a star chart all in one. We also include my daughters clothes budget so she can manage it herself. The kids can see how they are going & I can control money & rewards.

Used to be a Great App. I loved this App until I got the latest version. It still works well on my iPhone4 but does not work on my new iPhone6. I tried syncing between the phones but the sync does not work. Please fix the version for the iPhone6 as I do want to continue to use this App.

Very useful app, highly recommend. I bought this app several months ago and have refrained from rating it until I could see how effective it would be for us. No regrets, I have recommended this app to many of my friends. We use is it every day and I print out a copy of their chores for the week, so they don't always need to use the ipad to tick off their jobs (they get distracted by the games on there). One of my top 5 apps.

Fantastic App to motivate the kids. We are using this app to teach our children the value of money and also encouraging them to do some extra chores around the house to earn extra rewards. They can manage their money via their itouchs which automatically sync with my iPad. Would highly recommend this app both due to the functionality of the app and the great customer service.

Allowance tracking made easy. Love this app. Has almost everything I needed for keeping track of chores and allowances for three children. The only thing missing is the ability to store money rewards for chores to be paid at a later date.

Just what I was looking for. Love this app. My kids can now track their own pocket money on their own i-devices (using their own Dropbox accounts) after I shared the iAllowance Dropbox folder with each of them. Perfect! And I can manage it from my iPad AND my iPhone!! Great for when we are out shopping and need to know how much they have in their account/s and for immediately recording transactions. I have been looking for an app like this for ages so am so excited to find iAllowance. Great work guys. One small extra thing I would like to see is the total balance across all accounts/children - since this is how much I owe them in total.

Time consuming -should be able to have a chore list the same for all children.. The more children you have the worse this is There should be a basic list that must be done that can be copied to all children. Having to repeat for each child is a waste - it doesn’t seem to sync well between parent and child

Great motivator!. This is a great app that helps with pocket money but even better is the rewards and chore chart that doesn't even have to be linked to money because I have a very driven young lady who was sending us broke! So many different features it was well worth the money!

Like it!. This is a great app that allows my kids to manage their own jobs and saving goals and what they would like as rewards. We had great fun creating it together and now I don't remind them of their jobs - they are keen to get in and tick off completed tasks. I would like the option to create my own category - this would give the kids the capacity to focus on our own goals. For example I would add an activities tab where I could create stars around reading, finishing books etc. My kids love the motivation of getting the stars - a bit more flexibility please. Mine drops out quite a lot after saving changes, not sure why..

The kids love it.. We use it for a star system - chores, rewards, penalties - and piggy bank. The kids love putting their stars on for completing chores. They can check out how many stars they have and how much money. It helps me to motivate them to do their chores. All in all, we're all finding it works really well.

Very useful tool. I love this for the kids as they can go in a tell me they have done a chore then I have set it up for parent control which enables me to confirm they have done the chore for the day or for the whole week. It also enables me to add additional times where the kids have been not been doing the right thing and I am able to minis which they get less allowance. The other item I like is the fact I can tax them as well so that the kids can see what happens in the real world. I just love and would recommended to any parent.

Great App!. A great app which is very easy to use, bewarned my 10yr old had it worked out before me. Also I got some excellent email support from the help feature to setup somewhat complicated timetables across a two house parenting arrangement. I say complicated, but the help desk guys had a same day solution for me which took 5mins to implement. My 10yr old loved it and it's yet another way to engage him with technology outside of the Xbox and tv...

So much better than a sticker chart on the fridge!. I am still customising iAllowance for my kids, but so far I love it. It makes setting chores an placing values on helping out at home so easy. I love the ability to combine financial rewards with stars - or what I am calling brownie points, my kids are working out the difference between the two. I also love that I can automate withdrawals, I can reward good behaviours like remembering homework without being prompted, or I can remove points for poor behavior. Again, my kids are learning that some behaviors, like backchat, so easy to dish out, can be 'expensive' on the brownie point scale! And what is more my kids love it, they love that these things are recorded and they can see what they have done, what they need to do, and what they are worth, while playing on Mum's iPad! And even better they know that Mum can see how much money they have easily, and will have to pay up one way or the other! Am finding the occasional unexpected quit frustrating, but at least the data doesn't get lost. Have yet to work out the permissions, I'll get to that. :)

Handy App. its great. It keeps track of kids money without them physically having control of it (which normal ends with it becoming lost). I also love that each job can be setup to have a certain value for each time it is completed.

Kids are excited to do chores. So many great features! Tip for big families: get your configuration right on your main device, then set up sync on all the others. Has a few minor issues, but overall exactly what I wanted to organise my kids and link their extra contributions with rewards.

Set up too long!. Takes so long to set it up..added all the chores but now I need to add them to each person and input dollar values each time!! Should be able to do all that in the set up and quick add chores to everyone

Flexible and fun. This app is terrific. Stops arguments and also teaches the children concepts such as interest and encourages saving. I particularly like the way it is so flexible and I have been able to make it work for my kids' changing maturity. We are now using a separate bank to manage clothes allowances which is great! Highly recommended.

Just get it - you won't be sorry. Absolutely fantastic pocket money tool that my kids (10 and 7) love. Much better than the well-used board (Doug and Melissa?) that we used before. It's great that the kids can mark off their chores, but that I can come along later and confirm it's actually been done. Also great that jobs which swap from week to week get done automatically. Regular updates add to the improvements. Highly customizable. So far we have just used it for regular pocket money but now my 10 year old wants to set up an account to save up for a particular toy. Can also be set up to subtract money for poor behavior, ours face losing 10c every time they grumble when asked to do a chore! To the previous reviewer who awarded 2 stars because she couldn't work something out - this is not the fault of the app.

Perfect for our needs!. I've been using this for several months and it's perfect for keeping track of my kids' allowance and bank accounts. They always know how much money they have and what chores they can do to earn more.

Love it. Have used this app for well over a year and love it. The kids all have it on their iPads and we manage their pocket money and spending through this. It is like having their own bank accounts and we don't have to worry about them losing their money. No real issues, perhaps a little slow to sync on occasion but as long as your aware of that its ok.

Confusing and complicated. I can’t work out whether my wife and I both paid for the app? Is it subscription based? Takes a combined degree in advanced computer programming and financial accounting to work out the jobs chart and payment schedule. Really disappointed.

Mrs. This is a great app! If you are creative it can be multi-functional. I would like the option of running / emailing reports for user selected dated periods. Great for tracking expenses, working to a budget. Oh, and good for keeping account with the kids too!

Superb app and support. This really is a great app as it has enough customisation to get the rewards just the way you need them. Had trouble with Sync but support replied in a few hours and mow working well. Kids love it!

Works for recalcitrant teenagers and terrible toddlers. iAllowance has transformed our family interactions. We have a 15 year old son who quite simply refused to contribute. Today we use iAllowance to manage his spending and saving. His long term goals and our expectations about his behavior, including rewards for effective anger management and a charity account to help him understand the obligations we have to others. At the same time this outstanding app works for our grandchildren who just need a simple star chart. This is the only app I have found with enough behind the scenes power to handle toddlers AND teenagers. Service from the developers is great and the latest update is just brilliant. Worth every penny. Thanks so much for a truly revolutionary parenting tool.

"The best way to keep organized". It took a bit to setup, but after that it has been really easy, and now I get help with the house work and they love being rewarded for their hard work.

Handy!. A very useful app that's helping my family be more organised and helping my kids learn to save. It takes some work to set it up but it's worth it! Tech support is also very helpful and very speedy.

Fabulous!. I'm so excited to have been recommended this app and will recommend to all my friends with kids :) The kids are going to love using this instead of the paper chart, and I think it will encourage them to do their chores :) One of the best thing about it is that I can mark off that they have done the chore, at the moment it's kind of my word against theirs lol I also added in some bonuses in the chores list, one is for good behavior which they can get multiple stars which after 5 stars they can pick a movie to watch as their reward (which is tallied in rewards and tells them how close they are) and the other is for completing all of their chores for the day they get 10mins accrued to either pay the computer or game console of their choice. This is such a fabulous tool and once it's all set up ( which will take some time as it does so much for you) you never have to worry again :) Thanks Jim for your super fast response to my questions and for your help :)

Wonderful support and an awesome app!. After looking at overly complicated Pinterest chore/allowance tracking ideas, I decided to check the App Store to see if there was an electronic solution and I was not disappointed! After reading some online reviews I decided to get the full version and I am so glad I did. My daughter wanted to start her chores right away! It's a really fun and user friendly interface, and tracks way more than you could easily via other means. And the support is wonderful, extremely quick reply to a question I had. I would recommend this app to any parent looking for a way to simplify chores and allowances. 5 stars on all fronts! :)

Changed how our son looks at earning. Unbelievable app. Our son fought it at first, but after 2 days of CHA-CHINGing in stars for getting his stuff done, and seeing how his money is being earned/saved/invested...he’s doing the dishwasher without being harangued, he’s making sure his laundry gets into the machines, and the first time he got a red sad-face for back-talking, the whistle goes off, and I hear from the other room “WHAAAAAAAAAY is this?!” Hasn’t gotten one since! HA!! Super excited abt the next update; hoping to see parents get a notification when the child checks something and says the chore’s been done...that way he won’t have to bug US to keep checking the Piggy so we can update and confirm the chores are done. This app is great!!

Excellent. We have been using this app for quite sometime now and are amazed at how easy and effective it is. Our children actually like that they can track and analyze their own spending habits. Two boys aged 10 and 13

Update made it worse. This app used to work very well, but since they have updated it it’s horrible. It is extremely slow and sometimes the amounts you deposit or take out of the accounts don’t show up for days so you’re never really sure if it worked or not.

Great app!. We really like this app. No more forgetting to give out allowance, or "forgetting" to do chores; it is all tracked with the app. If we are out and they would like to buy something I check the app for their balance and then deduct the amount of their purchase then and there. Definitely worth the price, highly recommended.

iAllowance - Excellent. Excellent product. Required some time to setup but, after that, it requires very little effort. I set it up for chores which pay $ or stars and it's very handy to be able to see what has been done during the week. My kids (9 & 10) enjoy it and they really love to check their bank balances. I e-mailed the tech support address with a question after one of the product updates. I heard back within hours and my question was fully answered. Great product! Great support! I am impressed. Well worth the money.

Excellent app - worth every penny!. Just before I got this app we were using marble jars for rewards and cash allowances for three kids, each with different needs and rules. This app has simplified our lives by combining both into one system. You don't have to use both but for us it's like this app was made with us mind. Each child has their own profile which is fully customizable and can be adjusted with the changes that accompany growing children. No more disputes about whether or not marbles were doled out correctly or if an allowance payout was missed. Truly awesome!

Amazing. I no longer pay out allowance to my four kids, and they don't feel bad about wasting their money on silly stuff. They tell me what they want and we place it in rewards so they can see how much to earn it. We have a star account for all good deeds, and mandatory care ( brush teeth, homework) 5 stars gets you 30 min. Gaming, t.v or Internet time. We have the dog account, All poop pick up, walks, bushings goes into this account for dog food and vet bills all extra money goes to SPCA. The third account is theirs, for trips, iPods,video games, toys @ 0.05 to .50 cents a chore it takes a bit longer for them to add it all up, much better then just handing out 20.00$ a month. I love it

Love it!. I am loving this app so far! It’s working so well to motivate my 6 and 3 years olds to do their ‘chores’ and reward their good behaviour. My daughter is actually practicing piano voluntarily and asking if she can practice reading which NEVER happened before this app! I love how you can customize it with different ‘chores’ or behaviours and different ‘currencies’ depending on what motivates your kid. I absolutely recommend this to all parents out there!!

Very useful for wide age range!. Been using this app for a long time. When the kids were younger, it was a great way to give rewards (ie piano practice for screen time). Now we use it to keep track of gift cards and money. iTunes gift card for birthday? Add it to our iTunes account, but keep track of the child's purchases so we know when their's is used up. Cheque from grandparents for both kids? Enter the amounts in their iAllowance accounts to keep track of their purchases with their money.

An end to shopping arguments. I can’t praise this app highly enough. With automated allowance deposits, the kids’ accounts are always up to date and so when we go shopping and the kids start the “can we have...” nagging, I pull out my phone, show them their account balance and ask if they want to spend *their* money. More items have been returned to shelves, and faster, since we had such immediate visibility of their savings. The multiple separate accounts are a great feature, allowing me to track, for example, birthday money separately from weekly allowance or savings for a particular item. Overall the app has significantly helped my kids manage their money and start to appreciate the value of things. Increasing my appreciation of this app is the terrific customer support provided by Jim. I ran into a problem this week and received immediate and helpful support, getting me back up and running in no time. It’s rare to find such proactive and friendly technical support!!

Almost perfect. This app has eliminated the ad hoc 'Dad you owe me my allowance' calculations that use to happen once every couple of months. The app keeps track of allowance by savings type (long term, short term and charity) and allows me to easily deduct the random money I give my kids for spending from their accumulated allowance. Only wished it synced via icloud instead of dropbox but 5 stars nonetheless.

Doesn’t work properly. The app doesn’t work properly. When we enter the stars or money the totals are never the same in the bank, in the main page or in the reward section. I tried contacting the developer and the automatic response says : « Due to the issues surrounding COVID-19, my ability to respond will be limited. I will contact you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience ». Come on Covid is not a reason anymore. I am not happy with my purchase ☹️

Was the Best app. This WAS an incredible app! I absolutely loved it until this round of updates that have frustrated me to no end. It is now awkward to transfer funds and crashes non stop on my iPad forcing me to use my iPhones much smaller screen. With the last few updates it has lost data every time which means extra work for me...please bring back the old iallowance it was a far superior product!

Great app. Worked great to motivate my 7 and 4 year olds. Use it mainly for the star points. The kids love it because they can see how far they are from the next big reward.

Great app and great support. App inspires my older kids to do more chores and help around the house! Especially helpful with a newborn in the house. Multiple banks and chore types matches how we were already managing our kids. Easy and intuitive to use. Support is also great. Found a problem on my 3G after installing it and Jim replied with a workaround in under 12 hours and posted a patch the following day. Look forward to using it more.

Easy, flexible, awesome. We've been using this app for 1 month now and it's great. Took a bit of time to set up (not hard stuff - but to get it set for our needs), and now is so simple to track and motivate my boys. Next I'll be setting up my personal fitness / food tracking. I looked at a bunch of apps before trying this one ( reccomended by my sis) and none compared. The Dropbox synching is terrific too. Thank you!!!

Would be perfect with a few tweaks. I like all the flexibility this app offers: allowance ($), earnings (stars), child-specific login and parental approval. But, we are having a very difficult time syncing across devices. When my kids each update their chores on their iPods, the data usually doesn't get saved or synced, despite trying several different potential trouble-shooting attempts. I would also like to share all the chores, and the order of display, between kids, rather than having to edit all that manually. Thanks! Looking forward to updates :)

Good App, but...... App keeps crashing when I click or unclick a chore. Getting annoying.

Excellent tool for "fairness". Having a 5 and 2 year old, we find ourselves having the "What's Fair" conversation all the time. This app helps us set expectations around chores, but more importantly around acceptable behaviour by age The developers have been very responsive to the community.

Great chore tracker. Works great. Tracks chores and allows us to pay out to three different "buckets" : spend, save and charity. Kids like it and actually are doing their chores and tracking it.

One of the Best App I Ever Purchased. I bought many apps since the Iphones came out and I would rank this as the best value and one of the most used. Syncs across both mine and my wife’s phone to track the allowance and different accounts our kids transfer that allowance into. The allowance and transfers are automatic with virtually no work by us once created. Keep up the good work.

Fantastic app. Loving this app to help my kids work towards and allowance and screen time. Had a question as I was setting up and was frustrated as it was the weekend and I assumed I’d have to wait until Monday. However, not at all!!! Jim answered me that same day with a screen shot and instructions on what I wasn’t doing right. Everything worked immediately with his suggestions. Now if only I could get my husband added to the list! Lol.

Great App and great support!. The kids are quite excited to be using this app to track their chores for credit. The initial setup on the first device took a bit of time, but the setup wizard walks you through it. The dropbox sync is what makes this app so useful for me. I have it installed on 2 iPhones and 4 iPads. The sync is a bit slow the first time, but fast for updates. I ran into an issue I couldn't figure out from the help so emailed the support address. I was very happy to get a prompt reply to help me sort out my issue.

Solid app, continues to shine. I've been using this app for a couple of years now. My children are migrating to brick and mortar/internet banking, but they still rely on me for some purchases, and they always like to keep money in iAllowance so they are covered. One of the worst apps ever. Interest doesn’t calculate properly and randomly is added to the account and my user data was deleted. These are just some of the problems.

Setup Frustration. I can’t even get this thing through setup. Every time I accidentally hit part of the screen outside of the setup wizard, it erases my progress and I have to start over. It also keeps getting stuck when I try to set up the date for an allowance. I hope this experience gets better when I make it through setup.

Lost all of our transactions except recurring. When the “upgrade” happened and we created an account, we lost all of our transactions for about the last 4 months, except the recurring allowance. Very disappointing!!!

Great way to start. Chores and responsibilities are hard enough to make a habit for younger ones. iAllowance is a great tool to help both parents and make it fun for kids.

Not easy to navigate. To me it’s hard to understand and not easy to find where to go in the app. There needs to be more options readily available and maybe a permanent toolbar at the bottom.

Some magic I can’t figure out to make it update. Only randomly takes my updates. At first I thought it was that I needed to be on WiFi. Then I thought I had to hit one button and not the other. still totally inconsistent at working.

Sync does not work at all. That’s 4bucks wasted. You can’t try the function with the free version. Very dishonest way to make money

Crash. When iAllowance crashed it forgot our account. So then we had to get our kids debit cards with no idea how much money they had previously. If you use this app still keep track of the money on paper!

Sync issues. After syncing to one other device, I was not able to sync to any others. Very frustrating when both parents cannot have access to the same iAllowance account.

I hate this app. The app will make kids spoiled and bratty and you will try to torture them with a chore app? I mean really kids will hate parents once you install the app. Just saying

Good but needs work. The concept was good but I think the app still needs work. For example I could not delete an entry and when I intuitively clicked on an already checked box he app entered two checks or doubled the amount owed for work instead of unchecking.

Adding Chores and General Use. I initially added the chores when I first set up. None of them took. Now I’m trying to add them all again and it’s a bloody royal pain. NOT HAPPY. Got through adding the chores without a problem, when I finally realized you need to be in landscape mode on iPad (really?!?!?!) in order to do this. Working through the app and still NOT HAPPY! Extremely disappointed.

Don’t Upgrade!. I’ve been using this app for years but when I upgraded to the version that requires the new account my balances were wrong and some deposits were duplicated but on the next day.😡😢 Anyone have a suggestion for an app that will work?

This app is terrific!. We love iAllowance and have been using it for 7 years. Has become an integral part of how we do “business” as a family.

Deleted my account. I actually loved using iAllowance to track my kids’ allowance. But they suddenly deleted my account and now I have no idea what my kids’ balances were.

App doesn’t work. Every time I try to setup an account or log in it closes to app and drops me back to my phone home page

Incredibly poor UI/UX during setup. I don’t understand these reviews but am glad others have found success where this thing is an absolute failure for me.

Does Not WORK!!. I have iPhone 11 and my iPad 11 pro. It does not work it locks up and freezes. I can’t even add a child and I can’t add any chores to it or anything does must be very old and needs to be taken off Apple. I very much would like a refund as soon as possible.

Update won’t allow app to be accessed.. This has been a wonderful app this past year but all my daughter’s hard work and allowance tracking are fine as your app won’t work after the latest update. It tells me I need to go into the parent portal but then immediately crashes.

Child. If a child have a device, this app should communicate between devices what the child needs to do.

Lost all the data tonight. Just tried to log in. Says it’s all new but I can log into existing account. When I put my email it it says they have no record and all my data may have been deleted. I’ve been using this app for about 4 years! I keep my kids money tracking in it and don’t seem to have access at all now! So upset!

Losing sync.. Keeps losing information when synced between two phones. Tried multiple times to resolve. Even worked with developer. He asked me to give it one more try and it worked for a bit and then stopped

Ridiculously Complicated. I wanted a way to track allowance, not launder money for the mob. You can’t even track a simple withdrawal without giving it a label. If I needed to label it, I would have labeled it. It’s like it was designed by Microsoft.

Account got deleted with no notice. I haven’t used the app in a while but have it to keep track of how much money my kids have. I just tried to log on and it tells me it doesn’t recognize my identifier and my account was deleted. I searched my email looking for notifications from them, but nothing.

Erased All My Data. I have my kids accounts and have used this app for a few years with no issues. Suddenly, it erased all the data and says my account has been deleted. I didn’t have a record of how much my kids had earned so obviously this led to a lot of arguing. Very unhappy with the deletion of my data without asking me.

Excellent and well supported app. I’ve owned and used this for years and have been so impressed with the fact that it just works. Excellent and prompt support from the developer. It’s one of my most used apps ever.

No support. I managed to lose my password and any attempt to reset the password disappears into the ether. All attempts at contacting customer service ran into a wall as well.

Not impressed. Off the bat, the app doesn’t provide enough clarity on how it should be used. The setup assistant is clunky

Waste of time. It wasn’t easy to set up and I can’t share the app with the kids they have to pay for the app also. What’s the purpose of one person having the app when 3 other people need to use it to do the chores 😒

Virtual allowance!. So nice to provide cashless payments and allowance to my kids!!

Was our account deleted with the recent update?. After the most recent update, we can’t log into our account. We get a pop up box that says: Problem signing in. There is no user record corresponding to this identifier. The user may have been deleted. I don’t remember our totals, so this would be a bummer. Wait.....had to sign up again and then it seemed to import our data. Weird. Rating adjusted.

Best app for chores and rewards!!. I have been using this app for years and love it. I have tried several other apps but this is by far the most versatile there is. It takes a little while to figure out but can customize own chores for each kid and can make them appear only on days you select. You can also pay an allowance either in reward money dollar amount or set up to reward in stars then kids select from things they can use stars(rewards). I use the money system feature and set up banks for each of my kids. It works just like a regular bank. It will automatically add whatever dollar amount you set up per chore or per day if they do their chores. When you check their chore as complete, it will automatically add money to their account. I can also add deposits such as money they get for their birthday etc. An optional feature is that you can set up and use is you can have each kid have a savings account and set it up so it will take a percent weekly or daily such as 25% of their earnings from allowance will go into savings account. This is the best app for kids. The developers have put a great deal of effort into this program. I don’t understand the negative views. My guess is they didn’t take the time to work through the program to figure out how to customize. It does take a little while to customize it to your own needs and set up. Another great thing is that there is no annual fees. The only thing I would change now is to somehow make it interface with Alexa. I set up iAllowance with its own password protection as I didn’t want my kids giving themselves raises or extra stars. IAllowance does let them view it without having to put in password but only a few of my kids have their own device to be able to do this. I think if they could add Alexa somehow my kids could ask Alexa what their chores were for today. Just a thought. Thank you, for such a great app!! Kevin

Sync is the key feature for parents, but no loans. I can't find any way to track a loan that my son must repay me. There's no "official" way, plus, it prevents a negative opening balance on accounts I create, so I can't even hack my own way. Shortsighted IMO.

Good app but syncing is very poor. Nice UI and easy to set up My 10 yr old daughter loves it But syncing between just two iOS devices just is not working at all Shouldn’t be that difficult I’m a tech savvy user too

Alright. It's difficult to set up... had to watch utube videos to try to get through the set up - and I'm still having trouble.

Horribly frustrating. I’ve had the app for a total of 5 minutes and I already hate it. I love the concept but for spending any amount of money it’s just not worth it. It bugs/ cliches and requires restarting. It’s so hard to navigate and figure out how to go back and edit or add things. I’m really disappointed!

Lost my data. It was great but when they updated the app I lost all my data.
