Many Problems. This app is amazing i would say but i have a lot of problems and it is bothering me. So when I first got it, the app was amazing and it was fun I would say but when i kept using it, a lot of strangers would always text me and say “hey I’m a horny sexy girl looking for sex and I’m single” or “stop calling me man your soo Gay” But I don’t know how people get my number and it’s angry and kept on bothering me and told them to stop and it never ended it. I am very angry but so far, it was a OK app but I have a lot of glitches and every time my mom calls me, it would say “unlock pin” then I’m done but I call them but it then it shows me that I accept the call or decline and when I am done it shows me calling them with was angry and annoying but I would say that I would love that if you update it so people won’t automatically text or call you and I have been getting robot calls but I was aloud to block them so I was happy about that. Very Misleading NOT Unlimited Free. I’ve had this app for several years. Tonight after sending out maybe 6 texts, I get a notification from them saying that I am sending out too many texts and am now forbidden from sending, presumably for good. It says to refer to the “Fair Use” rules but I don’t see any such thing in the terms of use. Regardless; they have no right advertising this as UNLIMITED TEXTS AND TALK when they pull this kind of crap! I see here other people complaining about this same problem and you reply that unlimited only applies to texts or calling to other Talkatone users. I found this in your terms and that’s not how it reads to me. Seems like you just want to force people to upgrade. Not me, I’ve a dozen other free text/calling apps and several google voice numbers as well as my cell carrier Straight from your Terms of Service: “The Talkatone unlimited free texting app will let you message with most U.S. phone numbers. You won’t have to convince your friends and family to download a new app or buy the same phone as you, like with WhatsApp or iMessage. Text who you want for free. garbage (and that's being kind). if you enjoy endless frustration, go ahead and get this awful app... if you need to get a text reliably through, don't bank on this at all... EVERYthing i ask it to do results in a huge delay of 40 seconds to a minute... not kidding at all... EVERY...thing! waiting for conversations to load takes forever! calling up the text box takes forever! seeing actual contact names instead of their numbers takes forever! even just trying to complete a text to someone TAKES FOREVER because of hiccups and long delays!! i have to pretty much count on a five minute ordeal just to send a simple text to someone, EVERY time! my god, even the ads don't fit the spaces provided for them, ads from local business here... i bet they don't even know what they're getting for their advertising dollars... even aesthetically this app is awful... COULD THIS APP GET ANY WORSE!? (sadly, probably)... oh! a new update! hopefully they've addressed the delay issue! .....oh, no, no they haven't.... i just sent a text that took a minute and 15 seconds to go through... everything still takes a millennium... the app won't even rotate from portrait to landscape in less than 45 seconds! IT CAN'T EVEN DO THAT REASONABLY QUICKLY!! what in the living hell is the problem!? PLEASE sell this app to a developer who cares.... PLEASE!!

Hands down the BEST VOIP app Great value, great service. My mobile phone stopped working and I needed a texting solution. After reviewing and trying several options, I couldn’t find an app that was free unless you were contacting someone else who was also a subscriber to the same app. Then I stumbled across Talkatone! The free version allows you to dial and speak to anyone on any number whether the subscribe to Talkatone or not. I loved it so much I upgraded it! Now for only $1.99 + $3.99 per month I have no ads (which were not intrusive at all anyway) for the $1.99 and a stable number, voice mail transcription, call forwarding and other great features. That’s less than $6.00 per month for a full-featured VOIP service with crystal clear calls, MMS texting, address book, unlimited domestic calling, voice mail and customizable options like ringtones etc. I just cannot stop being impressed. Even with the free version you get unlimited domestic calls and MMS. It puts Skype and so many other apps to shame. Download it and give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.

NOT unlimited texting. Unlimited “access” to texting is not the same as unlimited texting. Only a few texts allowed outbound per recipient. I text a lot, my guy barely does but still reads everything. I guess this may be considered spam? But wouldn’t that be sending the same or similar text to multiple numbers? Not a bunch of messages to one person. Everyone has a different situation, if there could be unlimited texting this app would outdo the others. I’d even pay for it, unfortunately that’s not even an option. If you want to be the app that beats the competition, please consider my suggestions. Users vary in communication styles. An app that allows one to text several messages to loved ones would be preferred over the others. Even at a price.

Not unlimited talk or text. So in the beginning of starting this app it seems like I was able to have the unlimited talk and text. Within a week I started getting censorship on my text messages saying my messages are failing they’re not going through and then I started receiving text messages from within the app saying that I used up all of the data and I’m trying to find out how much dada views and I don’t see anyLimit. But it’s still sending me text messages saying oh within 24 hours we’re gonna cut your text messages off or within 24 hours we can every story meanwhile none of my messages are going through. After that I get some kind of message to says I need to delete all of my messages and delete the entire app and now I have no access to the fail messages that I wanted to resend and for some reason I cannot get the app to restore so I cannot call I cannot text the app will not restore. Hopefully I can get it back up soon and I can resend those filed messages. I am perceiving this is a reliable app even if you wanted to make purchases with an app in the future I do not recommend.

Decent. This app does everything that a normal Smartphone would, but I only have one problem with it. The problem is that in order to receive calls, you have to have the app open in the background, and calls appear in a notification at the top of the screen, making it so that if you are in another app, you have to quit whatever you were doing, and rush to the app to answer the call. I recall missing a call at least once, and today my Mom called me, and sense I swiped away all my apps, and couldn’t answer the call. She had to call a different number, and let me know that it didn’t work. That really frustrates me, but other than that, the app works just fine. PLEASE fix this problem, and other apps like Skype or FaceTime just interrupt what your doing, which in my option I like a LOT better than missing the call every time.

May not be what you need from an extra number. I use this to dial in to a community conference call almost every morning. (My regular phone company started charging extra fees for dialing in to conference call numbers which wasn’t in my original contract, so this was my workaround.) -Sometimes (okay, often) the connection is terrible, has static, echoes, disconnects, etc. I would not use this for a work or any type of call where a bad connection would look unprofessional or cause a serious problem. Since the group I’m dialing is a casual one, not at all related to work or anything time sensitive, it’s not the end of the world if I lose my connection. -Recently, in addition to the ads at the bottom of the screen, there is a nag screen that blocks the keypad and prevents me from dialing unless I allow tracking. I’d rather not, so I may have to find something else. -Last, there is always a little ad saying that you can dispose of the phone number and burn a new one. Seems like it would help if you wanted privacy, right? But it also seems that when I dialed out my full real name is displayed to the call recipient, so there goes the privacy aspect. If you want a private second number I don’t think this would be good for that.

Great app - I’ve been using w/same # for years. Everyone knows my Talkatone number as a good and dependable second/backup way to reach me. I recently lost my cell phone while out walking and because of COVID-19 lockdown needed to order a new one online. Having Talkatone on my iPad, I quickly shot out a text message letting everyone know to call or text me on my Talkatone number until I could receive my replacement cell phone three days later... it was the first time I had to rely on Talkatone as my main contact number and the app worked flawlessly! Thank you Talkatone, you allowed me to keep in contact easily with everyone in my life during this crazy pandemic. Sincerely, Lynne B.

The app censors your words. It took forever for me to figure this out, but I was getting “message failure” when sending some messages. I finally realized that the app will not send a message if it contains certain words. Weird, but I guess I can understand some words, but it wouldn’t let me send a message with the word “stupid” in it. I was telling someone I was on a flight that got in “stupid early.” I tried sending the message 8 times, and then sent sections of the message, some of which worked and some didn’t. I finally narrowed it down to that one word. I sent the exact same message one last time with every word identical except I changed the message to “very early” instead of “stupid early,” and it worked. I can’t imagine why the developer would restrict a word like that, especially completely out of context. I don’t want to run into a situation where I might be in a hurry and have to figure out which word they find offensive in order to get my text through. If they don’t like “stupid,” then any word could be on their ban list. And it’s got nothing to do with my provider. I use that word and others that are worse all the time and they go through just fine on my phone. Very strange!

WORKS WELL ESPECIALLY FOR FREE. My son found this app for my granddaughter who is 7 so she is able to use her “new cell phone.” It’s actually an older phone that my son gave to her to use with select people and there is no charge like you would have if you needed to activate and buy minutes or a phone calling card. He pre-programmed the numbers she is allowed to call and now that her and I and a few of her friends from school and in another state that they used to live in can have phone conversations for as long as we want as often as we want we are all happy. I found the app very easy to use and have not had any issue thus far. Neither has my granddaughter. It also works on my tablet so that we can text if wanted but she is only starting to write sentences and its just easier for her to talk. She does get a kick out of this as do I. Thank you for keeping it free.

This App Works So Well. So as a 15 year old with a small family and low income my mother doesn’t make much money she could only afford to pay for service for one phone and I couldn’t call or text people so I went on a hunt to find a legit app that would let me talk and text for free it was hard but I came across talkatone this app is AMAZING not even joking I can now call my mother and text her or anyone else FOR FREE this app works and is definitely work downloading no free trials needed the only problem is that we can have ringtones from songs in our Apple Music section but instead we have premaid ringtones that would be nice to have custom ringtones if possible but otherwise this app works very very well and I do recommend downloading this app if you can afford service to call chat or text people I give it a 5 stars

Great app, really just missing text to short numbers, explained below. Works well over WiFi and cellular in the U.S. and over WiFi where I live in Japan. It gives me a U.S. number I can use even though I live overseas. Voice quality is good, even hands-free using the speaker or earbuds. With a subscription, ID verification from short numbers works with most places like banks, card companies, and even the IRS. They have a proper iPad app. The chat and call history is great. For voicemails, they also send transcripts to you by email so you can listen on any device you check email with. I am back as a paid Talkatone Plus subscriber now. I hope that at some point they get messages to short numbers working! Banks and credit cards have a reply option to do things like check on balances. Talkatone is the only VoIP app I’ve tried which can receive ID verifications from short numbers but can’t reply. This is a useful feature for communicating with places like your credit card accounts. I’ll change my review to 5 stars if you add that! But basically I'm pleased with Talkatone on my trip. I'm on a monthly Talkatone Plus plan right now.

Disappointed. I had Talkatone for a couple years now. I know apps can have bugs and need a tweak every once in a while, but I haven’t been able to use my Talkatone for a week now. I have reached out to customer support three times. I get the auto messages but nothing is ever done to help me fix my issue. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times. I pay for a permanent number. I even gave it some time thinking it’s a system glitch , it will clear up in a few hours. Nothing… nothing….and not even a call to help me… I’m truely disappointed. This app helped me so much when I was in the hospital with no cellphone service but only wifi… I could always call my elderly mom ( who has the app) and we could keep contact during the hospital stay. Especially useful during the pandemic as you can’t go in with your loved one. This is why I am so upset ! How can the app not work all of a sudden?? I can’t place calls or get them either. When people call I just get a notice of a missed call ! Or a message! I can’t text out anymore, can’t send a pic. Nothing!! I’m so upset! I want to be refunded for the charges to maintain a non working number!! What’s the point of keeping it if I can get my calls right??

Use to be my favorite Wi-Fi telephone app. When it worked it was THE BEST! Since an 'update' somewhere earlier, AFTER it was working GREAT with my REALLY OLD iPad-3, I can no longer use the app on the same iPad-3 because I can't update the iPad to version 12. Unlike a lot of app developers that allow for you to be able to download an earlier version that worked, when I try to download through my purchased apps page, all I see is that d@mn info regarding needing to upgrade my device! I have been trying to contact the company regarding this for about a year now, and I'm getting nowhere. As a result of the above, all I can do is caution people from even thinking about using this companies' apps. It is my opinion that they do not care about the customers' needs, but rather only the revenue that their apps can generate for their coffers. In other words THEY don't give a crap about the customer. End of story.

OLD RELIABLE!. I have had TALKATONE for several years now and it has always been a life savor. When I don’t always have a regular phone service and when I need to make an important phone call I can always rely on TALKATONE. Wherever there is Wi-Fi and I need to make an emergency phone call I turn to my TALKATONE. I truly appreciate having this service and it’s been my go to app for many many years. The only that has changed since the start of my journey with this company is they started putting restrictions on the amount of calls you can make but I can accept that. With all that being said TALKATONE is one of the oldest and best free apps for phone calls. If you don’t want limited calls, they offer upgrades with other perks and features for a minimal fee. I would be lost without my TALKATONE.

Always works. I use it overseas and in places in the usa where i have wifi but no cell service. Never had a problem. Been using for a couple years. Even over foreign cell services. Yes it has some ads, but it is free. Confused why folks give it negative reviews. Like it to be able to have a Los Angeles number when using it for booking things in France. I get noticed, even though I am New England based. Something about a LA phone number gets in a table in France. The ads are minimal, it doesn’t like some VPN’s. After several years of use I had to delete and reload the program from the App store which corrected the problem. I don’t think this company does this to make money.

1.5 stars updated review. I planned to write here in a week but its been something like a month. After a period of time suddenly the app stops notifying when messages come in. Also the app progressively got less consistent with message delivery as time has passed. Day 1 review: "I deleted this before because it was to glitchy I decided to give the app another try today, so far so good. There have been two crashes already today but Nice layout everything has been sent and received quickly, no other glitches or obtrusive adds, service is actually free :)) all good so far. Lost half a star cuz two crashes in less than a day and you lost one full star because the "do not disturb" setting on my iphone does not impact your app. Not sure if that last one is within the devs power but i feel like it aught to be, perhaps i just didnt see a do not disturb within the app or have some other setting arri, i will update review in a week or two after i have used it more."

great burner # that doesn't show as a burner (usually). i've been using Talkatone for about 2 1/2 or three years, and I deal with a lot of people that get weird when they see something iffy on caller ID so when I use Talkatone somehow there less uptight. I've never asked what it says on their caller ID, but I know it must be something better than what Google talk shows up as on their caller ID that's for sure. The only thing it asks of me is to use it once every month or so which I'm already doing. But, for those times when for whatever reason I haven't used it in a while it always makes sure to let me know with an alert that I have to use it just once to keep my number. which is reasonable. Talkatone is worth it, and the micro transaction upgrades are also fairly priced and reasonable. verdict: it's a winner! Do yourself a favor and try it.

U should try it!. This app actually works better than expected. The only reason y I think I recommend this app is because all the other texting and calling apps say they are free until you get the app sign in and then u have to pay a subscription. But this app is different… I have been trying to look for an app that texts and calls without any payment (besides google voice) and out of the 10 (or somewhere near there) I finally found an app that works. This app is great in many ways: 1. New number is free 2. Texting and calling is free 3. Can sync contacts (everything syncs even photos for each contact syncs) 4. Can text from this app through the apple messages (I alr tested it my texting myself and the message came out perfectly on my messages app) 5. You can call people through the messages/phone app (if u have iPhone idk bout android)(ps. U can literally call urself) The only part about this app that requires payment it literally to have 0 ads and other unnecessary things. Not only that but there really isn’t a lot of ads so I think this app is one of the best texting and calling apps on the App Store!

Reliability Not To Be Expected! 🫤. Forget using Talkatone If you intend to keep the same phone number for the long term. Even after using this for way over 3 years with the same number & email address they suddenly blocked me. No warning or reason! When I emailed their customer service I finally received a typical auto response explanation along with the suggestion to just create a new account with a different email address to start using their app again. However, I would NOT be able to have access to my original phone number again! I would be given a new one. So, if you are wanting to use this app to have a separate number for business purposes I wouldn’t recommend depending on it at all! FYI: It is an early red flag to customers when certain types of businesses keep changing their contact info without a heads up. If you want a clear path to success in regards to a fruitful business then I don’t recommend using Talkatone due to the way they do business.

Best Free Text/Calling App. This is by far the best free app I have used. The pandemic has left me jobless, my phone and internet turned off, and recently my car taken. You could say it’s been rough for my husband and I. This app has allowed me to at least have contact with the outside world again when I’m able to acquire free WiFi or at a friends house. The interface is very easy to use and clean. The adds are in no way disruptive which is totally amazing compared to the other apps. The best feature by far is the FREE calling. I don’t have to buy minutes- and right now I’m struggling to even feed my self so having a tool that is free for me to use has been a blessing. Thank you Talkatone for everything you do!

Talkatone review. Best app ever. I’ve gone through multiple phones and numbers, but have always been able to keep this one. Also, if you lose your phone you can download this app on somebody else’s and get your contacts and text history. Doing that though can sometimes add the contacts that you have on Talkatone to their contact book on their phone, so be careful about that. One other issue is sometimes incoming calls won’t ring, but you’ll usually get notified that you just missed a call, and can just call them back right away. Lastly, I personally have never paid a cent for this app and I’ve been using it for 6 or 7 years.

Does the job. Talkatone is a great option for a second line. I've used the free version for about a year and have gone through a couple of phone numbers without any issues. I've been able to talk (within USA), text and send pictures with no issues and all for free. I only use talkatone for selling stuff online and other occasional social events. As long, as the former owner of the phone number didn't post that number online or they owe money to creditors, the talkatone number doesn't get bot or phishing calls. That can happen with any number. I'm just having a little trouble finding the voicemail messages. I forgot where to retrieve the voicemails. Keep up the good work. Update: voice mail appeared again after reinitiated the app. I didn't reinstall but I enabled background refresh and it did the job.

I never write reviews for apps...buuuut. I never write reviews for apps, but this app is wonderful. It does drain the battery a bit; but the reason it does that is because it’s constantly running in the background. I need an app that acts like a genuine phone. That means anyone can call me...anytime! The other apps shut down entirely after a period of time. That means missed calls, missed texts and well.. just not what I’m looking for. This app also sends full photos (MMS) texts and does not attach the application logo or link. The recipient receives typical messages without advertisements! Other apps don’t even let the recipient open photos unless they download their texting app! This one works like a regular cellular service, which no others seem to. Love it!

Never lets you answer calls. Calling out can be spotty - often it will seem to connect but there’s no sound so you have to disconnect and call right back. Other times you could be mid-call and all of a sudden it gets very staticky. Doesn’t matter if it’s WiFi or 3g or where you are located. Signal doesn’t improve. If you hang up and call back suddenly it’s clear again. MASSIVE battery hog. A few programs can be battery hogs but this one will drain you after only a few mins on a call. It’s best to be plugged in or near a plug especially if you plan to talk more than 15 mins. The BIGGEST issue is I cannot get it to let me accept any calls. Most of the time I get a quick chirp letting me know I just missed a call even though it wasn’t ringing. Other times it sends the caller straight to voicemail and I only know about it because there’s a missed call/voicemail notification. On the rarest of occasions where it actually rings it still doesn’t actually connect you. When you click to connect it’s just dead silence even though the phone counter is ticking as if the call is connected. Most of the time I just disconnect and try calling the person back. Anytime I give out the number i tell people to just email me or leave a message so I can call them back since this app never works. It worked not horribly initially so I’ve started to establish it as a steady number but it’s gone so down the drain it’s barely functioning anymore.

Work well at first. I really hate leaving bad reviews on things because not everyone has the same experience and sometimes people are just too over dramatic but this app is really really bad. It worked well for me for a while so if you just need it for short term, like traveling out of country or something, this app is fine. But the app really started getting glitchy and slow as time went on. Sometimes my texts won’t send and most times I don’t receive an notification for a text unless I have the app open. Also, let me call any one from the actual dial pad until the app has been open for an hour or so. Plus, when I get a get the notification for an incoming call on the app while I’m in another app or my phone is off it either comes through a few seconds before the call ends or when I answer the call it doesn’t work. This is my experience with this app. I just wanted to share.

Garbage I would vote 0 stars if there was 😡. At first I loved this app it was fine but like 4-5 months later it went down hill. One day I’m doing what ever and I want to text my friend witch this app is good because you can text people without a apple device and people around the world but here is when it went down hill ok so I was doing what ever and I go to pick up my phone. To remind you I never logged out of this app so I pick up my phone and i start texting my friend then all the sudden it won’t send.. my phone turns black then goes where you sign in and I never did anything so I swiped my apps out and let it go but every time I texted someone for about 2-6 minutes it would say ( you have been logged out please sign back in) I never pressed any thing to sign out all I wanted was to text my Friend and others so now here’s the part we’re this app is disappointing so it happen for the rest of the day then I’m like ok I’m done so I tried to logg in with my number or email and it says Please check your internet and clearly I’m on the internet! So now please fix it or I’m done because this app is a disappointment to the App Store. Now there is no way to text my friend and other people I know that doesn’t have a apple phone SO THANK YOU FOR RUINING THIS.

Giving it four stars because of the quality.. Overall, this app is pretty cool. You can make unlimited calls in the US and Canada. Most apps would make you buy credits for all calls. Since I have no use for the international calling subscriptions for credit I don’t need to buy them. But the reason my review is 4 stars is the quality. I keep hearing static and some weird long beep and sometimes the caller on the other end sounds like they have helium in their voice. If you could improve the quality of calling, I would give it five stars. And also when I am receiving an incoming call and the app is not open, I click on the notification that I receive and it doesn’t answer the call. I have to call the other person back. Improve the quality and fix the incoming call issue and it’s five stars.

DO NOT USE. Terrible app, terrible service. UPDATE: Months after reaching out to Talkatone Support, nothing has been done to address my problems. And there are more problems now! The app still doesn’t ring when calls come in. But now it also confuses text messages in group chats, sends texts only on occasion, and sends some calls to the wrong numbers! And you can bet Support doesn’t care, not even for a paying customer. Give this app a hard pass! There are plenty of other ones to try, where they’re more likely to treat you like a (paying) human being! OLD REVIEW: This app does not ring when it receives phone calls! It just makes a loud beep when the caller is leaving a voicemail. This costs me valuable work! I pay $1.99 a month for this app. The least it could do is tell me when I’m getting a phone call! Instead of beeping after the call as if to say, “oh, a job was trying to reach you, but they’ve hung up now”!!!

Started at a 5 and now we’re here.. At first this app worked wonderfully. I talked to one person, and it worked perfectly fine. But, after about a month and a half of using the app, it started to glitch. Where i could only see the other person’s side of the conversation when i opened the app. But, closing the app and then opening it fixed the problem. Now, whenever I try and do that, the app either crashes, or shows that I have 800 different threads with the person i’m talking to. And that just means more lag and more crashing. It takes me 10-15 minutes of repetitively closing and opening my app (at some points completely soft resetting my phone multiple times) to finally get it to work properly. And that properly working takes a good hour before it crashes again. Mini complaints is that sometimes the app doesn’t give me the notification that i got a text. it also heats my phone to the point of where it scares me to touch it. An edit to this post: When the update happened, the app began to work just as fine as it did when i first got it. But, again, slowly over time it started to lag or crash. Then finally, it’s gone back to the 10-15 minute opening closing. It’s even to gotten where I can’t text and it slowly follows my movement to where the text takes 5 minutes to register what I typed.

Save your $$$ for soda and not this app!. Well sad to say in Theory it’s a 5 stars app! Works great to test it Until you pay the $3.99 for better VM and $1.99 to remove ads. It worked perfect for a day and once I decided I would keep the app and pay up it went down hill from there. Looking back I should have paid someone $5.00 to just kick me in the nuts and call it a day! It would have been less painful. The phone rings one time and that’s it. You have no idea people are calling you. Unless your phone screen is on 24/7 a call will not show up. Text messages are 50/50 that you receive. I’m a tech guy and tried every single notification option on my IPhone and on the app and ALL calls are missed. Nothing worked! Tried to email tech support on the app! MIA for days no response at all. I have cancelled the subscription and gone back to Google that is 100% free and reliable for a work line. I’m out $6.49 and 2 days of aggravation! Trust me Keep your $$$

MaisonDeLamar. A really great app for making calls back to North America when traveling abroad. Also great for making calls to Canada and to the USA from Canada for free (as long as Google Voice remains free). Easy to setup and instructional guides are easy to follow. Suggest that you print or email to another device. Contact options are not fully integrated with ios Contacts, yet I do like that one can add newly created contacts to groups. For those that have more then one GV account the app remembers which account you called from so in case you use one for business and another for personal you can keep the separate. You can also IM your google contacts even if they are international as long as they have a Google account.

Solid. I use WIFI in one location a lot and I don't chat or talk when outside. Although, free app do not give up your SIM or SMS. I can not say how well it works when using SMS or SIMS from the major cell phone services outside. TALKATONE is perfect in home when everyone wants to use the land line phone. I can talk for a long time on my smartphone using WIFI & Talkatone. can make calls, rec’v calls for free. They have a reminder system that warns you to make a call before the assigned phone number is loss. In other words you must make a call every 30 days ,if not the account is closed. It happened once, then ,they offered another phone number and I have had it for years. I am going to try the low monthly service that guaranties never losing my number, + voice mail.

Customer Support is USELESS. I have not been able to log into this app for a month but since I use the number attached for many accounts, I tried reaching out to these people for help. They are absolutely USELESS. I not only submitted help through the app to get help logging in (the app keeps saying there’s an issue with me signing in although there’s nothing I can think of that give the app issues as I rarely use it to actually call/send messages) but they will literally send you the same unhelpful email saying basically I did something wrong but no further helpful information. I emailed them several times asking is they can clarify the issue but they send the EXACT same message. If anything goes wrong with this app they will refuse to give you a refund and will keep denying the refund through Apple and Apple is just as useless as helping with the issue for some reason. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP. There’s no customer support unless you’re leaving a review and you WILL NOT Get your money back. There are better messaging apps out there

I would give it five stars but...... So this app has worked perfect for me while I’m living in Japan. I get calls from the states I can text everything goes through quickly I’m not sure why everyone else is complaining about lag I don’t experience any of it. I do however experience a very very annoying treat and I’m not sure if Talkatone is responsible for it or not. But I’m gonna blame them anyway because it is their app. Whenever I am texting someone my phone opens the App Store. Even if I close it it really opens it and it takes me to some dating site or something weird sometimes it says I’m in the wrong App Store. Which I assume means that I’m trying to get the American app Stor when I’m really in Japan not sure what that’s all about but even if I close out talk atone and reopen it and go back to texting it’s only a matter of seconds before the App Store starts opening up. And then it’s frustration time because you have to close both applications the App Store and Talkatone and then re-launch Talkatone to continue were you were texting only for a few minutes later to start the process all over again. Talk atone if you are listening to this review I love you guys I can even send you video of what I’m experiencing but something needs to be done because this is crap. Otherwise I am extremely happy I’ve even thought about buying the package to disable ads and my only worry is that it would not fix the App Store opening up.

Worst customer service! "Message failed" error message. I've been using this app for a while and was working fine before. But for the last couple of weeks I keep getting a "message failed" msg when trying to send msgs. Not sure why I have done anything that may cause them to block me from sending message. I emailed them about it a few days ago, they said I could not send messages for 24 hours,,,why? I have no clue! Anyhow they responded to my first inquiry listing reason I may have gotten blocked. To make a long story short, I have not violated any of there rules which leaves me in the same confused position. I responded to there email three days ago and have been ignored ever since. I have been recommending this app to others but now I regret doing so. They respond to reviews, but for some reason not to emails. I'm assuming because these are public. Not sure what happened to the "talkatone" I knew before...

Sluggish and too many “Message Failure”. I’ve been using this app for almost 3 years, and everything has been great. There was a lag and it is a little slow, but that wasn’t an issue. However, these past two weeks, I haven’t been getting any notifications, and my notification settings is always on. Sometimes I would get one notification out of every 10 or so messages I receive. Plus, when I double tap to erase a word in text, and select the whole message. It makes it really hard to edit the message after I’ve typed it. There also is a lot of message failure when I try to send images, it just shows up as a link and then it says message failure! It’s very frustrating! Every time I want to check that I got a message I have to open up onto the app. I would really like it if it was fixed, thank you!

Not happy. At first I thought it was the best after TextNow crashed and I was introduced to this by a friend. My signing up was war and eventually it did, it won’t allow me login during the day and at night it would. I got tired and through it needed to be updated but the app is up to date. Sometimes it says technical issue please contact support. Crap right ?. It also won’t let me send some words like “God” in the context of the text, “sex”, “stupid” and others unless you modify the phrase to a more suitable one. I mean who does omit God, I guess this developer is a mini god for omitting God in text context and now I can’t signup, it keep saying “too many signup requests “ try again later. I only tried once

Nothing but lagging and glitches. Let's start with the notifications, once you get them it disturbs EVERYTHING you're doing on your phone (apps slow, music stops etc) then when you open it you have to wait 1-3 minutes before ALL of your messages show up then IF they do it's not even the one that you were notified for! Half the time the messages split into two different conversations only displaying one side of it LITERALLY it's either yours or the person you're talking to! If you open the message sometimes you only see the current message sent and if you dare start replying the app will freeze and you will have to go back and start all over again when they allow you to see the full conversation! Ok let's say it's a good day you're on WIfi and it's a nice sent and received day why is it that when you type of message IT HAS A 10 SECOND DELAY on your words! FIX IT

Scam + Info breach. This is my first review on apple store ever and it’s as serious as it is disturbing I’m shocked at this company’s malicious intent to use my personal info to harm me and take advantage I received a call on my actual phone number today twice stating my name and that a complaint has been filed against me for a serious crime *which i would never do* The suspicious call is of course from an Indian male telling me to call them back or else… Now the most funny thing is that after threatening me on my personal number, he calls me on Talkatone from the same number LOL. I’m glad i only signed up for the app as a joke and prank to one of my siblings They probably go through hundreds and thousands of personal stuff with bad intentions I will definitely be making a complaint against this app for threatening me with scams from third party fraud organizations and calling me with rubbish on my PERSONAL CELL NUMBER which i used for verification purposes on the app THERE’S ABSOLUTELY NOBODY ELSE WHO WOULD GIVE MY NUMBER TO SCAMMERS OTHER THAN TALKATONE they are the devil themselves looking for extra cash through bad deeds

If I could put 0 I would. Everything was perfect the number worked and I was able to get my job going with this app since I still don’t have a working phone. Right when I needed it the most, I suddenly could not text out or make calls. I would receive calls and texts but I could not respond or call back. I messaged support and they said it would be fixed in 24 hours and my account had violated some guideline and that I had been sent an email about it. I NEVER GOT A EMAIL ABOUT BREAKING ANY GUIDELINES OR RULES. I sent another email requesting that they look into it. Never got a response. I still cannot make calls or texts. I signed out, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still nothing. Now no one will email me back or fix the problem. This made me almost lose out on a job. I wouldn’t recommend this app to anyone if they will not help and it’s unreliable

Not for Good Texting. I've been using the app for a year but decided to upgrade to Talkatone Plus in order to send and receive texts. Voice is great, but texting has a lot to be desired. After sending 11 texts yesterday in order plan a family trip, my texting ability has been blocked. Support said I should have received an email, about violating Fair Use (I have no idea what this is as I didn't receive an email). Let me emphasize texting was frozen for 11 texts in a family chat that was created by my cousin. Do not pay for this app in order to get texting because there are better apps for this. It is not worth the money. On hour 32 of being locked out of texting, I still do not have access and may be permanently banned...after 11 texts mind you. Find another app. You have been warned.

Free candy!. Free candy, yeah, nothing comes for free. I was impressed at first. My own private phone number, texting, yada yada. And just when people I’m close to get used to my private number an add pops up from the developer saying I must agree to their policies of information sharing before I can use the app again. So I go and read the policy. Are you F@$#ing kidding me? This policy is worse than those I see on windows apps disclaimers. It boils down to, we demand the right to assume your identity. And if you say, “yeah, whatever” then they get total access to your texts, photos, phone calls, messages, videos, and everything else on your device. And they will sell that to whoever’s walking by with a buck. Or hand it over to the authorities should there be something on your device they find suspicious. “Dude, that party last night was bomb”. Clearly a terrorist, arrest him. Nice try Mr. Trumphole. I bet he was like, you must call it “trumpatone”! Anyway. I can’t use it anymore because I don’t like my info being out there like that. You decide but please read that policy first.

Big fat zero. This is an absolute worst app I ever had to deal with. First of all it’s only good for text messaging really because when’re someone tries to call you your phone simply does not ring. I tried everything. It just doesn’t ring. And yes I even picked out a ring melody out of offered ones. Second of all, it takes forever for the app to warm up once u open it. Third, if you are a fast texted/typed, this app is not got you as your fingers will moving 10 times faster then this app will respond , it won’t even comprehend the words you are typing. I It freezes. Half the times it is very selective with what msg it will send and which ones it would not. Sometimes it shows it send, but all it looks like on ur screen is just s small cloud with three dots, there’s no text. As I come to find out that means that text didn’t go through. I can keep going. Don’t use this app. It’s the worst of the worst. Real shame on its creator or developer, such shame.

I think it’s a bug but...?. The app does its job very well, I’ve usually been able to call and text with little effort. However, the last few days I haven’t been able to access my contacts or my text messages (it shows the previous text, but not the name of the contact/their number) I presume this is a simple glitch that they’ll fix quickly, since with that exclusion, it’s a very good app. It has ads, but they aren’t really annoying or excessive, which I like. But yeah, just want to rate an app for once and will definitely change it too 5 stars whenever the glitch is fixed (or whenever it stops affecting me who knows lol)

Group messages blocks you and restrict your messages. Got a new number and sent a group message to friends and family of my new number and was instantly cut off from sending messages because Talkatone flagged my group text as going over the daily usage limit. Just for context there were less than 10 friends and family members In the group text so they would know how to contact me. Also, this was the only text I sent. Talkatone instantly blocked me and didn’t allow me to respond back to family and friends who I just sent my new number to. This makes no sense to be blocked for sending one group chat. If group chat isn’t allowed or not supported then it should be known from the start, or not possible to even do rather than blocking people for simply sending your new number to your friends and family members. If group chats are supported and this is just an error or bug than it really needs to be fix.

Excellent 100% FREE calling & texting. There are reviews on here that claim things like “it takes forever to send messages” or, “calls don’t work” or, “app takes forever to load” BUT, I personally have used this app and tried others that CLAIM to be free but then want to charge after the “free credits” are used - I have had occasional issues with the app “freezing” and sometimes the sound quality on calls could be better but, after restarting it, it works flawlessly and reliably and, it really IS 100% FREE ! Ok, so there are ads ... it’s a FREE calling & messaging app and, if the tiny, unobtrusive ads at the top or bottom of the window bother you, then pay to have them removed because NO app is going to give 100% truly free calling and messaging without ads. I only ding Talkatone one star for the occasional hiccups that I already mentioned but, overall it is a very good app that I use every day. Thanks and keep up the good work !

Greedy for money. I did give this app 4 stars but I’m changing it to 1. I paid for Talkatone plus to use features, and there are still ads! To remove ads you have to pay $1.99/month on top of the monthly subscription of $3.99 to be able to use call forwarding. Honestly, if you pay a subscription you shouldn’t have to see ads, period. I am just so grateful that I can use this app while my phone service is temporarily shut off. It works with only WiFi, which I didn’t believe until it actually worked. I’m only giving 4 stars because, while it is a lifesaver (jobsaver too!), the call quality is really bad - and sometimes when people call me it’ll ring 7-8 times on their end & they’ll hang up but it won’t actually ring on my phone until 3-4 minutes later. The moral of the story is... it will keep you in communication with the rest of the world 👍 -but don’t count on it for emergencies.

Four and a half stars!!. UPDATE: I’ve been using this app for years.. same phone number, no issues. Recently I found need for another 2nd phone number (hehe) and after trying out all the others and checking the subscription pricing.. I realize Talkatone is the best value too! I got lucky with my first number as I got in at the beginning when they offered one time fees! I rounded up rather than down because people should know how wonderful this app is and how much it's simplified my carrier switches. With Talkatone I have been able to keep a set number where I can be reached. I can text and call and my credits usage seems to be nonexistent. I tried many many other apps and when I found this one I knew I had found a keeper. I spent the $10 (one time fee) to go ad free and it feels like a normal part of my phone. The only complaints I can find is the poor ring tone selection and that I wish voice calls were a bit louder.. All in all, it's exactly what I needed! Have recommended this app to many!

Static and voice. There is often a faint static on the line. Worst is when I’m a phone call and suddenly everything goes silent. Just tried to set up appointment and after 4 episodes of call turning silent in middle of conversation I gave up.

Free so can’t complain too much but terribly full of bugs. Messages always disappear, it’s super buggy and hard to type messages without having bugs, last message I sent the receiver said it came out mostly in Japanese. Please fix all your bugs!!

Works fine in Australia. FYI, it's the free calls that don't work here. But if you put money on your google talk account you do get very cheap international calls over your Internet connection. The app is a little clunky, but it's very useful

Misleading Fraud. Was told I was sending too many text messages, and was blocked. Was told “to avoid these limits, subscribe” so I did. I was then blocked again anyway and was told it was “Too many”. (No specific number was given). Totally misleading. Also, I sent a total of NINE text messages. NINE. That was too many—even if you are a paid subscriber. Fraudulent company. Avoid avoid avoid.

Extremely poor customer service. The concept is wonderful. The ability to enable incarcerated loved ones to maintain family contact is extraordinarily positive. The consultants can be incredibly rude and even vindictive if they don’t like you. I have had the most absurd problems trying to reload credit onto my account, despite having had the same number for over 7months! I have been wondering if global tel link prefer to employ extremely rude, inconsiderate and poorly trained employees as opposed to providing a good service to people who are prepared to spend considerable sums of money reloading phone credit! Get it together GTL and sack poor workers! It won’t bother me to go back to letter writing if your employees continue to provide such a poor service!

Can’t even sign up. My first attempt at even registering an account and it said I had an “excessive amount of login attempts”. On the first try? Seriously? It said to try again later. I did. It said the same thing. So I’m out. Too buggy to bother wasting my time.

Though the app works fine, but there is no unlimited texts as promised after about 4 to 6 texts you will receive a message that you are reaching you texting limit and then you wil be cut off the service for twenty four hours. Being someone who like likes to support my apps I hate the lies and false advertising I have started saving their posts warning me about over using and I will have all the conversations available for all to view. Lastly who do you know that only makes 5 texts a day, I paid for the extras on the app…don’t give them any money they won’t honour any thing they problem …worse support ever. The only reason I am still on here is because I have clients who have the phone number and it is their only way to reach me. Took my number back. What a stupid, I had this number over one year, and today I came to know this number of mine is taken away from me, and asking me to choose a different number. Why should I....

Excellent. Talkatone works great. I’ve tried a lot of similar apps and find Talkatone to be one of the best for communicating with other devices with or without the app. Using Talkatone on multiple devices works perfectly.

Unauthorized charge. Charged me even weeks after I cancelled my subscription. I want my refund back

Used to be great now it’s unreliable. Have no idea what has changed but lately it terminates all outgoing calls; incoming get cut off; text bubbles are empty and outside of wifi it just plain doesn’t work. What happened? I’ve used this app for 10 years and suddenly it’s garbage.

Scam. Like most apps, you get bombarded by ads and that would be fine if it was actually free to use, but you HAVE to pay in order to use basic features and STILL be bombarded with ada. Don’t bother downloading this scam

Cut my call off. 30 minutes max then it completely drop my call that’s on each call also hard for other party to hear me sometimes calls go in&out you would have to wait that if it don’t cut my call off I give 3 starts because I like the short calls I’m a busy person but when I’m on a help call it’s not the way to go if call drop some help desk don’t you call back. So you would have to start at the beginning with a new representative explaining you’re problem again. Irritating I know right Other than that everything is perfect I love it I think the app has a fantastic layout call messaging al simple well maintain from Google I support every business willing to grow keep up the good work

Literally the best app ever. This is literally the best app I’ve ever download. I have a phone that doesn’t make calls, so all I had to do was put in my email and they gave me a phone number! It is completely free, other than if you call out of the US or Canada, even if you do though, it is only $0.99 for 60 calls. You can burn your number and get a new one (which means if you were using the number for online dating, and it didn’t work out, you can burn your number and get a new one so that a person can not use your number to get a hold of you.

Good features-terrible app quality.. This app is amazing in terms of what it allows you to do. If you have wifi, you can call/text any time you please, as much as you please. There is a lot of bugs and twitches on the app. There will be times you will get kicked off the app, times you can't hear whoever is on the other side of the call, and worst of all, your writing a long message and hit send-it never sends! Though there are a lot of bugs associated with the app, I am very respectful of it because it is a one-of-a-kind app that's features are actually what they say they are. You don't have to buy or watch videos for minutes, it's literally unlimited free calling/texting. I'd give the app one star because the bugs outweighs the features:(

Logged me out now I can’t log back in. I was apparently logged out automatically earlier today and I am unable to log back in using my email or Facebook log in. I get the message Not Connected and says Talkatone is unable to establish connection. All my settings are set to my home WiFi account and all other internet apps and webpages are working fine. The app has been working great for me the last few weeks using it regularly for texts and calls. Now I can’t log in. When I go to try and uninstall the app, when asking if I want to delete the app it says I’ll lose all data. I’d like confirmation as was told to another reviewer that by uninstalling, I will not lose my data once I am able to log back in to my account.

It's great and all but. This is a overall great app. I can call and text anyone as long as I got connection. BUT -since there's always a but- it's kinda slow. It could be my phone tho but, to be honest, that's not my main concern. The reason I came here is that I want to be able to call people on no caller ID. Just like if I were to put in *67 before the call and my number suddenly can't be seen. When I try this, it doesn't even ring. I want this to be an option. Yes I could burn my number but at the same time, I only got one burn. Unless I pay for more. And I'm not on this app because I got money. This is an overall amazing app but like I said, there is almost always a but. That's just all I gotta say

Keypad doesn’t work. When it rains it pours y’all. So, Verizon shuts my phone off during a pandemic, so I’m left without a phone. Thankfully the state has been helping those affected. I got a card today with funds on it for relief. But... I have to activate it only by phone! Ahhhh I was hopeful that this app would work. It did let me call. But the keypad didn’t work so the system could hear my selection. My rating is based on it not being able to do what I needed it to do. I’m sure it would work great as a phone. Which I’ll also be using to call anyone that doesn’t require a keypad to talk. Right now I’m going to pack up my child in a stroller, walk through this hurricane rain to the nearest gas station to hopefully call and get my money card activated.

Not meeting up to it Word. The meaning of this title is this app failed to provide info about adding a second account linked other words Gmail yahoo things like that basically if you try to use Facebook it will not tell you that you needed to put a Gmail or any mail connected to the account that you have created due to that this account gets a one star for not letting the user know about this ahead of time and the lack of Service all my contacts every single bit of it was gone now I can’t remember the numbers that I have in contact with the people that I need to pay rent and stuff like that I will never trust an app like this please learn from the mistakes it will help you not to make the same mistake as I did of trust in an app like this.

Hacked how to catch a predator. Persons who manufacture and distribute child pornography browser history and ransomware all while remaining anonymous and alerting authorities from the El Paso paper box located in El Paso Texas use this app this is true because I have caught these google representatives manipulating apps like this one. Somehow hackers manipulate apps like these to “hack” persons by conducting phishing scams and changing app settings to gain sensitive information. For some reason I was not able to send verification codes but with my old account I can. Hackers have embezzled money thru this app by charging me money for services otherwise available without paying.

Terrible don’t get. Ok so I was using it and then I realized I didn’t get notifications when I was oof of the phone and on the phone my gramma calls me Avery day because of the corona virus she feels lonely and I can’t get the call when I see thee is a missed call and call back it doesn’t let me here the other persons voice it sounds all glitchy when I text it doesn’t get though and I can’t see what the other person texted ether the app has doubled avryone on it it has one of the person for what she texted then me that I only text in hate this so much whoever created this app should not be a good person he probably is just doing it so people get the app it’s called clickbait if you didn’t know creator. Good idea but needs work. This app used to be 5 stars hands down! However, I don’t know what they did but this app is very inconsistent now.. sometimes the calls aren’t coming through, sometimes you cannot respond to messages it. It tells you to wait for it to load and you have to wait awhile for it to load. Other times the messages won’t deliver successfully. Someone used my Textatone number on straight talk and I don’t know how this was possible… which freaks me out because were they able to see & read my messages!? It’s very scary knowing that there may have been a security breach in this app… be careful that’s my warning to everyone who uses this app in the future.

Scammers 😡. Talkatone is a good app to use to talk to people, like family, friends, etc. But I have been getting random text from scammers that tell me that I am cheating, and sending me fake pictures! This was really annoying me, especially when I worry about my own safety. This app can be really bad in ways to leading people to talk to scammers, and sharing their information with them. If you download this app for your kids to talk to you incase of an emergency, be careful that your children don’t put their trust in random numbers. This is why I gave the app one star, because it can be dangerous! 😡 Note to developer: this app shouldn’t allow random numbers/ people messaging you. It should only allow numbers that you know to message you; so, I suggest to change the messaging part. Thank you.

Not 100% terrible.. but close... I’ve tried very seriously to use Talkatone as a phone service replacement for 6 months... DON’T DO THAT! Super extremely astonishingly unbelievably slow to load.. it literally takes a full minute to boot up on iPhone 6. No notifications.. missed calls.. missed texts. Riddled with obnoxious adverts. UGLY AS ALL SIN. Glitchy, will often get stuck in a certain orientation while the keyboard gets flipped in the other orientation, necessitating a restart. Terrible connection quality through public WiFi. Get this, if you want to send a text longer then around 500 characters TOO BAD. It’ll send the first part, chop off the rest and delete it from existence. GARBAGE. I can't tell you how many times I've booted up this app to find that someone tried to get a hold of me the day before and the app just plain didn't let me know!!! Well there goes that job! Guess I’ll have to explain to that girl why I didn’t answer her text for two days! It’s totally unreliable!!! Ugly. Very ugly. Did I mention it’s ugly? Because it is ugly. It’s totally covered in ads everywhere that slow it down and you accidentally hit and they charge you the predatory 1.99$ A MONTH to get rid of them. If I could give it ZERO stars I would. Fix your crappy app!

Poor Customer Service. I was super happy with this service for the past six months. However Saturday it logged me out to the sign up/sign in screen for no apparent reason. I have been paying $3.99 a month to keep my number and use voicemail. Now since I can’t use the service it is worthless. I have and still want to use a VPN as I always have for privacy and security. The customer service takes up to 3 days to respond when you contact support. They don’t answer your questions. Just say use a different network, whatever that means. I want my account back to the way it was working before Saturday and I will be happy again along with the use of my VPN. Please help! Plus make sure to add a signature line and title so the customer knows who is answering the question in return email.

Good but could be great. its good for what it does like calling & texting HOWEVER the 2 things that annoy me is anytime i wish to check my facebook while on the call it disconnects me, its either maybe a video embedded or something that makes it disconnect. The other thing is sometimes when the call goes through & they pick up there is nothing but silence on my end, i see the call is active but hear nothing. If they can allow use of phone & videos while on the call & fix the no audio the rating would shoot up to 5 stars no question about it

Excellent but.... This app is great for calling and stuff. But one thing, the ads making sounds are the problem. There shouldn’t be sounds with the ads. I have been making sure I can deal with the ad to be on there because They don’t really bother me I mean it’s one thing if the ads are on there showing up, but if they keep making noise and I hear sound in the background that’s another because what if I’m on a phone call and then I hear an ad making noise. I think that needs to be fixed, because the 1.99 a month should be if you don’t want the ad at all not because of the sounds

Greatly appreciated app. As long as you have good wifi signal this is an amazing app. I have been using for several months now and have never had to purchase call minutes or spend any money for the use of this app. It works great, except for every once in a while on an outgoing call when the other party answers after 9 seconds it reads on my screen, VOICE TRAFFIC BLOCKED BY NETWORK.... Not really sure what causes that but can usually end call and make again right away and most of the time it goes through then

Great for nonCell connected Wifi devices. Contacts does not allow me to delete a contact, even after deleting or moving a contact in my iPad contacts. Just reporting here that Optimum blocks the phone connection on their OptimumWiFi network which is installed on Optimum-supplied business and residential routers (but off-LAN on the residential side), because the ISP has its own residential cable phone service. It works fine on one's own residential Optimum-connected LAN (which I have). Perhaps the merger could convince their new European owners to change this policy. The app is running much more slowly than it used to. I don't recommend anyone paying for it. The contacts problem above is still not resolved.

This App is outstanding to be a FREE APP!!!!. I rated it a 4 star because most of the time when it rings it will stop ringing before I can get into the app so therefore I missed all my calls and I have to call back but it is a get out to be free. It just needs a little work done to it or it don’t lock up so quick or your face can can open it or something but basically it’s a very good app I’ve enjoyed it and I will continue to enjoy it is the second time I’ve had it and I love it oh most. Doesn’t work 95% of the time.. Calling is very staticky, people have a hard time hearing on the other end. Basically yelling and repeating myself 95% of the time. Multiple people have said when they try to call me on several occasions another woman answers the phone. I’m not sure if you have people sharing the same number? And lastly I have to open and close the app like 5 times before I can send a text message because in the message thread it’ll only show the incoming messages from the person you’re texting and when you try to send a message it won’t go thru. So then you have to open and close the app until your messages also appear in the message thread. This used to be one of my favorite messaging and calling apps.

Looks like my previous review was removed.. Ooma owns this company. And Ooma is a VOIP company. I’ve used them for my home phone service for about 10 years now. I’ve tried MagicJack. Not so good. And two other services that were also not so good. Their is only one that is as good as Ooma and it requires a Obi box to use it. Oomas call quality is great. Provided you are using a third party cordless phone that is pretty good. Oomas cordless hand set is no good. Expensive purchase that was. Unfortunately the quality of the Ooma service. Does not translate over to TaT. Calls are static filled. And my personal biggest issue is ads. Most of the time ads are at the top and bottom of the screen. Small and out of the way. But far to often ads just pop up. My screen just goes away and I’m being redirected to something I didn’t ask for. That. Will get any app kicked off all my devices quick as crap. And this app did get kicked. Sad that I had to reinstall the app on my tablet before I was given the option to make another review. Another sad is. Many places are removing truthful reviews. Honesty in business is no longer a goal for many. Rather than THE goal.

I have made Talkatone my primary number.. I give my review after a couple of years of using Talkatone. Overall it’s been great. I can use it with talk, text, pictures, emoji, gifs. Everything associated with phone use. No hesitation no echo. The only downfall I’ve came across is lost connection. This can be a issue when trying to place a call in time sensitive matter. Although most times it will reconnect quicker when closing and reopening app. Biggest downfall NO EMERGENCY CALLS for first response. Leaving me to still carry my cell phone. Oh did I mention, I have an iPad Pro. I carry it with me everywhere also. Would love to only have one device to keep up with. Thanks for your services they are well appreciated.

Not the best..... Ok so I like Talkatone but the thing is that you can’t even send anyone videos and if you get a app and you have to put your phone number you can’t do your own from Talkatone you have to pay to do that and all the things you can do is photos and that’s pretty much it so whoever did this app if you could just change that it would be great because I have a lot of videos that I want to show to a lot of people but I can’t because it doesn’t let me and same with if you get a app you have to put someone’s else phone number because you have to pay to do it with your own phone number so please change that for me because I’m not trying to spend money.

Great App for International Travel. This is a great app for international travel. This app works just like a regular cell phone to US numbers. I was having trouble with my credit card and had to spend countless hours on the phone with the credit card company. Thanks to Talkatone I didn’t have to worry about huge international fees. It also allowed me to call my son from French Polynesia when What’s App would not. If you are a digital nomad or want to be able to call the US from overseas, I highly recommend this app.

Great app!. This app is very good!!! The only reason why I put 3 stars instead of five is for this simple reason... Sometimes. The app is slow and I cannot load my messages... sometimes I’m sent messages and I don’t receive them... Just recently my calls aren’t going through, my text conversations sometimes only show my messages and not the other persons.. sometimes it’s the opposite and only their messages are showing... It’s very inconsistent and inconvenient but however, when this app is working perfectly or as it should it deserves 5 stars! This app is 100% free and I absolutely love how they were smart when they created this app and you can use your cellular network and still continue to use your app number.. This is very important as sometimes WiFi isn’t around and you still want to send text messages using a different number! Please update or fix the bugs!!’ Idk what happened! It worked perfectly the first few months but now it’s starting to have bugs and lots of issues.

Great app but grabs the microphone from iOS &doesn’t release it. The title says it all. Tested several phone I’d lose the microphones immediately after making a Talkatone call. Fortunately I found a workaround : I go to google select their microphone and it comes on and I exit google and immediately and microphone is back for everything. At one point the microphone problem went away but then came back again after another update. Not sure if it was a talkafone update or not. Developer please confirm. The other issue I have is being able to get to the Tallkafone screen to answer a phone call before they hang up. They are mostly always BOT phone calls. I wish there was a way of answering them faster so I could tell them off. It takes me extra time to answer a call bc I am usually not using my iPad when the call comes in and I have to 1j swing my iPad holder arm into position and 2) enter my lock screen password. This takes several seconds bc I am bedridden and have a swing-arm iPad holder attached to the tray table that’s multipurpose and wheels over my bed.

Bad connectivity. This app usually works well for me, as long as I have a strong data or LTE connection. Sometimes it will cut out or drop calls, or have bad sound quality. But my real issue lately is the app keeps telling me that there is a problem with my connection. My connection works fine for the rest of my apps. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my phone it still will not connect. And now I can't even log back in because of the connection issues. The app is virtually unusable because I can't sign in. This is the second time in the last month that this has happened.

Best APP EVER. This app is by far the best I've ever had I no longer have to pay for cell phone service as I completely 100% now use wifi for all my calling texting and data usage it's amazing! Updated review: this app keeps getting worse and worse. Sometimes I get incoming calls, sometimes I do not. Sometimes I get texts, sometimes I do not. It’s gotten so bad that I’ve had to go out and purchase phone service again which defeated the whole purpose of getting the app to begin with. I still have it downloaded on one of my Phones cause I need the number, but now I get signed out of the app constantly and even deleted and reinstalled the App hoping it would work and NOPE :/ I’m getting close to deleting it for good since it’s been over a year and we still can’t send videos thru this app.

Really good has some flaws…. This is a really good app! But there is a couple suggestions I have… I stopped getting the notifications for a new text on my Notification Center and wasn’t able to reply to some people cause I didn’t know I had a message. I also can’t really hear anything even with sound fully up when listening to a voicemail. A lot of times it will give me a notification that it can’t send my message and so I have to type it again and then it will finally go through.

Glitchy useless app. Tried to tell me I was exceeding my outbound text message limits. I’m only sending no more than 20 texts a day, and that’s like once a week. Whatever. They said I could text again after 24 hour block. Right now, it’s been past several days, and I still get the Message Failed error. I think they are going out of business. The tech support team doesn’t even fix their problem. If you want people to pay for your service, then say so! Don’t lie and use some sort of excuse. End all free texting and charge everyone. Don’t lie and and say that I’ve been exceeding my limits. You would think I was texting 5,000 messages or something 🙄. I’m only sending no more than 20 a day!! 😡

Second review because of the pathetic response. I’ll go ahead and write another review. To the developer, you can’t give the same lazy and generic response to everyone with sign up issues. Yes, I’ve tried different networks. Yes, I’ve tried different devices. To even dare suggest that someone needs to use a different network or device JUST TO SIGN UP is ludicrous. I am a software developer. Never have I ever heard of a requirement to use a different device or network strictly for a sign up process. That’s absurd. Based on the lazy responses I’m reading to reviews and the lack of support and the terribly beginner-level app issues, you can now guarantee I certainly won’t subscribe to this app. I mean I can’t even sign up so how would I subscribe? Pathetic.

Not as good as it seems. I initially thought I struck gold with this app. I’m from the US but travel a lot for work so having an app like this comes in handy. It worked well for the first few days then all of a sudden logged me out and when I tried to log back in, it said my account had been banned. I contacted support by email and they replied saying it could’ve been banned for one of three reasons. Either using it in a country that isn’t supported, using a vpn or violating the terms. I do use a vpn for obvious reasons if I’m a foreigner traveling in foreign countries and accessing my banking on my phone. This is a non logical rule, and inconveniences people who rely on your app. I see others in the reviews saying the same thing happened to them so I would suggest finding a more reliable app.

This App Is Obviously Not For Free!. I was very excited when I got this app. I have texts forwarded to me from clients looking for quotes. I used it successfully for a 4 hour conference call. I tried calling, texting my mother, it would not work. I tried next day, nothing. I tried calling my doctors office I receive a message that I am out of credits. I never purchased credits. I was under the impression this was a free app?!? Tonight, I tried calling a number not listed in my phone book, it works. I tried calling mom, doctors office again, I am asked to purchase credits. Sending texts, asked to purchase credits. There isn’t a help desk with a explanation as to why this is happening. I am giving this app a 1. It is unreliable, useless.

Needs issues addressed but good start. So this app does everything it says it does. You can receive and send SMS text messages. you can receive voicemails phone calls and dial out as well as long as you’re connected to Wi-Fi. I would give it 5 stars however there issues that need to be fixed before I do so. 1. Increase volume on calls. Speakerphone setting is way too low. Even when your phone volume is maxed out. You have trouble hearing. 2. you cannot add a person to an active phone call, so conference calls are out of the question. 3. you cannot access anything else in the app while you were on a call. you cannot view your text messages the keypad or anything. you’re stuck on the phone call screen. 4. if you’re on a call and you switch over to Facebook, Instagram or any other app for some reason the call mutes itself and you’re unable to hear the person you are speaking to. It’s dead air on the call and the only way to fix that is if you close all the open phone apps and return back to the talkapp itself.

I Love this app!!. So, I broke my phone for a while, and I needed something to communicate with, so I downloaded this app on an iPod that I had, and I have to say, this app is THE BEST! Subscription is cheap, and you can creat and join group chats without having awkward “sent from the ______ app” or stuff like that, and the best part is that you can use it for company sign ups, like when you need to use a phone number to verify an account, this app lets you do that! I’ve tried almost all of the free texting apps, and even big ones like “TextNow” don’t compare to this! I completely recommend for anyone!

Read this because you won’t find out until after you sign up. The pricing is disappointing as is the privacy issues. First off- privacy. This app does not allow you to manage separate contacts within the app. To use contacts you are required to give them access to your contacts which are then completely uploaded to their servers. This is unacceptable and there is no reason that a company needs to acquire your entire phone book. It also prevents you from easily separating your contacts depending on which phone number you want to use. This app used to have separate contacts on your phone in the app but they disabled it so they can take your personal information. The app has ads and to remove them is only $1.99/mo. However purchasing a full monthly subscription for $4.99 does not remove the ads. Paying customers are still presented ads and a bar on the screen you can’t dismiss telling you to pay to remove the ads. So you pay $4.99 per month for the service, then $1.99 in addition to that to remove ads. This is ridiculous. A paying customer shouldn’t have to pay a 40% increase in monthly charges when they are already paying. Immediately cancelled subscription and wasted my money.

Talkatone Wows Me.. I can’t believe I came across this app. I lost my phone and wondered if there was an app I could use on my iPad that would allow me to use my iPad as a phone. Talkatone was the first app I did research on and the first and only app I’ve used. I went so far as to read the terms of use, privacy terms and legal purposes. Talkatone app, in my opinion is very well thought out and implemented. I can find nothing but good things to say about Talkatone. Thank You Talkatone, I’m glad you were there when I needed you.

Logged me out out of nowhere. All of the sudden after using for years, logged me out. Causing me to lose access to important accounts I had this number in. I used this as a business phone number to keep it separate and now I am losing clients. Very frustrating after I have recommended so many people to use this. I am so disappointed and this has caused me so much unnecessary trouble. Now I truly do not recommend to anyone. Stay away if you need a wifi phone.

Messaging. The phone aspect of the app is great but the messaging has a lot left to be desired I’m constantly being told that I’m texting too much and I have to wait 24 hours what kind of nonsense is that and that only after sending four or five Messages to different people… people in general said 10 or 20 messages or more throughout the day to different people without any problems I think you need to fix that in order for the app to be up to par with other apps

Down hill. I have had this app for years. In recent months they have added a untrustworthy feature that force-clicks on ads and sends you to the app store to their ads without your consent. I happen to be leery of this. If the app can force-click something for you, what else is it doing without my consent. It gets worse. This force click feature at first was happening when you're off a phone call. This past week or two they have gotten more aggressive and have been force-clicking ads during the middle of phone calls which therefor cuts your phone call off because once the reroute leaves the app you can no longer hear the person and they can't hear you. So you then have to scramble to try to get back to the app and then by then the audio from your active call may or may not return. So they are basically hanging up on people's calls now to falsely receive advertising counts for clicks that never really happened. This also causes me to question ethics. Do these ad companies pay per click? Because if so then they getting charged for tons of fake inauthentic clicks. 1) Not trustworthy to force actions on people's personal phones 2) Not cool to hang up people's phone calls to do so and 3) Not okay to fake clicks

Talkatone is connecting, please try again in a few seconds. Have been using talkatone for many years. Last couple of months have been nothing but problems. Text messages still work, but that’s not why I use talkatone. Please fix and I will update this review when all is well again The fix suggested does not work. Uninstalling and reinstalling still comes up with the same error message. Was good while it lasted This update has brought back the Talkatone I am used to knowing, the one that works. Updated review to 5 stars. Thanks for the fix!!

New Version. Talkatone is a great app! I’ve been using it for over a year now and it’s been working fine. But the new version, however is really time exhausting. I’ve been waiting for my contacts to load on the app for over 45 mins now, still waiting as I’m writing this. My contacts don’t load and display anymore, if I write the number and try to send message, I’m not able to send because the number of isn’t inputted. Arrggh!! Is slowing me down, I shouldn’t have upgraded. How do I go back to the last version?

Iffy. I’ve had this app for a couple years now and for the most part there isn’t a better app to download. Recently the app has prohibited me from making calls for unexplained reasons. I’ve done everything possible to try to correct it on me end and still same results call terminated. I’ve messaged support more times this year than I ever have and my issue is never really fixed. Because this app is so good imo I deal with the frustration and headache to continue to use it because I haven’t found anything on the market better. If you never run into this issue this is by far the best app to download for those stationed or living overseas...

Glitches with newest update. First off, this is a great app for international travel when you still need to have people contact you with a US number. That being said, the updates are getting super annoying. It seems like every time I update, something weird happens. This time around the screen is freezing on me and I can’t answer phone calls. Another update ago, I would have to log in every time I opened the app. The developers seem to make a new glitch every time they fix a different one. It’s getting frustrating to the point that if the next update doesn’t work, I’ll probably ditch this app altogether.

Works but not as well as you hope. This app does what it says. It gives you a number, it allows you to call and text. So from that standpoint it does work. It has glitches and limitations, however which are annoying. It likes to freeze up a lot. Sent texts doesn’t always go through. This happens with some regularity. You cannot send/receive vids via text. And lately it has begun duplicating my contacts. I now have one person listed 27 times with the same info, but the app does not have a way to delete contacts because it uses your contact list from the phone, not within the app. Needs lots of upgrades.

Life saver. This app is a life saver. I’m using a phone without service and only WiFi at the moment because my phone with service suddenly stopped working. I needed to make an important phone call and felt stuck because I had no service. So I decided to look up a phone calling app in the App Store and found this. I honestly didn’t think it was going to work or that they would want credit card info. But nope, I downloaded, signed in, and made my phone call. Thank you guys so much.

Best Free Call and Text App. I had my phone shut off but still needed to make calls and text. I’ve used this app in the past and it was always useful. But now that I haven’t had a phone all year this has helped me with people who don’t have iMessage. I recommend it to anyone. Is it perfect, no, but it has kept me going without any teal issues. I once paid for the add removal, but it made no difference so I don’t recommend paying for that. I talk to my mom for hours and don’t drop calls. There are no credits to buy or videos you have to watch this is the best app for calling and texting.

Works for me!. Bottom line is I need a second number so I can make a few texts and so I tried a couple other apps before I came across Talkatone, Download app(free)connected to my(any)WiFi, started making calls and text immediately . It has voicemail and easy to read layout,Its been 4-5 months now and I’ve kept it for a second number. I havent notice any ads and haven’t spent a dime. You might be able to upgrade and get a few more options,not sure.I can text and I can call, thats all I need.

One of the Best I seen. This app is so easy to use. I love how clear each call is and unlike my current cell phone provider, it does not drop continually drop calls, and I don’t have to keep repeating myself or ask them what did they say. The only drawback I have found with this app, is if the app is not open, the phone will not ring. It would be nice if they could keep it active in the background so that it would work like a regular phone. Other than this, I think it’s fantastic.

Easy. Simple. Works.. Somehow I think I bought something from this app.. but not sure what it was lol. Anyways even with out accidentally doing that .. this app works awesome!! I was using Google Talk, and because I couldn’t remember my password from years ago due to being locked up... I had no way to Prove my Identity of being so and so.. SMFH. It was seriously bullsh*t because ALL/EVERYTHING from Money to Conversation I can’t get back.. will never be replaced. This app (forgot the name haha) is the best app I’ve used since Google Talk. It works . It’s sufficient. No dropped calls. All that good stuff! Ya welcome!

Worst. Do not get this app. It was so bad I kept on getting random phone calls from people that I didn’t even know once I got a text message from some random guy I thought it was my cousin but I was wrong. Who does that like I thought, this would actually be a low-key good app until the first couple weeks it was so bad, I hate this app and I would never use it again. I kept on getting random text from this person. I thought I was safe with my phone number but that was such a lie. Don’t get this app, and I even tried to burn my phone number and it didn’t work. I hate this app and I would not recommend talk to him that’s why I braided it one out of five. Please don’t try it if you don’t want to get a call from some random person.
