Using this app for our Summer Reading lending library. We are an elementary school PTA using this app for a lending library of over 1,000 books. It is really easy to use and the app developer is very responsive. That’s important because we didn’t want to invest our time and energy scanning the books into an app that was not well-supported (or might be discontinued)! Syncing via Dropbox allows multiple volunteers to check-out books to kids at the same time. Our big request would be to have the app populate GRL and Lexile level when adding books to the catalog, as we need all books to be leveled for the kids!

Needs multiple genres option. The app has been easy to use. Searching via online could be improved but after trying other similar apps, this seems to be something that all apps struggle with. Doesn’t seem to be this programmer’s fault. There are two things I would like to see added. The first is the ability to list more than one genre for each book. Being able to customize genres would be a huge help. The second is being able to tabulate a running total of list prices for selected books. Thank you for a solid app.

Best app for cataloging a book collection. As an avid reader and book collector, I love using Goodreads and thought for a long time I didn’t want/need another book app/site, but Bookstagram kept talking about this one and I just love it! I mainly use it to track read/unread in my collection, but it is SO functional and user-friendly there are so many fantastic options so you can use it how YOU want to. I hardly ever buy app upgrades, but the BookBuddy Prob has been a worthwhile exception.

So far, so great!. I was pretty excited to find out this app exists because I’ve been longing for a tool to catalog our home library for a long time. We homeschool and have a LOT of books. I’ve already entered over 400 books and it’s been working really well except for one or two little crashes. No huge deal. My friend is also using this app so we can more easily find out what one another has. My one wish is that she and I could access each other’s libraries.

Worth it!. I did not want to pay for an app to organize my books, so I tried about 10 different free methods and apps. Hated every single one of them. Someone on a Facebook group suggested Book Buddy, even sent me a video of them using it, I was cautious but within a day I was in love. Easy to scan in new and old books, create separate libraries for your kids, keep track of loaned books, and best of all, you can personalize the categorization of your library! Need a 1,000 word novella, no problem. Need a grade 12 standard, no problem. I am loving it. Only downside is textbooks. But to be honest only a few of us are likely to keep to many of them anyway, and you can always manually search by title, author, or isbn. And you can link up with other app users, so yeah. I kinda recommend if you have more than 100 books, after that I couldn’t memorize them well enough, but hey. You do you. But seriously, why try a free app that limits the books you can catalogue when Book Buddy is cheap enough and worth so much more. Bask in the glory of a well catalogued book collection!

Fabulous!!. This app is nearly perfect in organizing books among my children, students and myself! I love the options of organizing my books into professional, personal, and children categories; I love that I get the option to add more categories or edit the ones already provided. I also LOVE the loaned out option; you can assign a book as loaned out/returned. I would give this app five stars if I could access my library online, but also if the loaned out option would be more streamlined, such as, you could click on "loaned out" and it would automatically assign the current date. It just requires too much clicking to assign a book as "loaned out" and then you have to toggle to the current date. I wish you could just scan or click a book and it would automatically assign it as loaned out and include that day's date, maybe provide a default option in settings? Hopefully, those features will be added later. I plan on keeping this app and hope these changes can be made or that some other developer will include these options. Until then, it's the best library app out there!

Adjustment needed. This is a great app. We have book giveaways and need to keep track of books taken by students. Two suggestions: allow for scanning of duplicate books. Whenever students take the same book I have to save the current scanning session and start a new one in order to scan a duplicate. And second, after a few books have been scanned it just stops accepting new scans, so I have to start a new session. However, I love how it just adds all of the books together even though I have to start a new scanning session, and exporting the list is a life saver.

Life Changer. I love this app! It’s a game changer for those of us with a large library of books! The extra for the paid version is easily the best decision I’ve made when buying any app. It’s made my tracking of my library so much easier than ever, PLUS now I know how many unique translations of the Bible I have and exactly all the details about each one as I hunt and search for other unique Bible translations I don’t have to purchase the same ones over and over again. I have all that information in one handle and well organized place! It’s a life changing app for me and my library of unique translations of the English Bible which is well over 250!! I’m thankful and happy!! Mike

Pretty Great. The app is truly pretty great! It’s a fantastic way to organize your classroom libraries or personal collections. That being said, I wish when you “loan” a book to someone, it kept a log for that person...like a history of all the books they’ve checked out, if that makes sense. I also wish they had a student version of this app that synced with my own that way I could put the app on my classroom iPad & not worry about them messing up any of my settings. They could just check out or turn in their book & move on.

A wonderful tool!. We loaded our titles onto the app a couple years ago and it had made it so much easier to keep track of everything. We discovered that we had many multiples (sometime three copies!) sitting in various bookcases. I load every new book that comes into the house as well as often check titles while indulging in wandering through book stores. No more multiple copies. I love this app. If only it could help organize the shelves!

Excellent app! Just what I needed. I just spent three days scanning and organizing 800+ hardcover, paperback and trade paperback books. It was so easy!! The only reason it took three days was because my five year old twins helped (For certain values of “help”) Highly recommend. Very easy to use. Great barcode scanning feature and easy input of ISBN if the scanning doesn’t work. Use select to grab multiple books and change fields on all of them at the same time. Each book can have one “category” but multiple tags. Allows for multiple levels of sorting. While there is a field for “physical location” I decided to use category for this. As I shelved my books, I used the app to move them from “Uncategorized” to the shelf I was putting them on. If the cover picture doesn’t match in the app what you have on your volume there is an easy search feature or you can snap your own picture.

Love this app. I really enjoy this app. It is truly a great way to organize my home library (I have over 1000) books. The only complaint I have is it doesn’t or I am not sure how to have this available in both my iPad and I phone with all of my book information. The app contains a way to log books with locations and list books in series which I find amazingly useful.

Just keeps getting better and better!. The PERFECT app to corral all of your reading and listening. Continually being updated but remains both simple and full of features you’ll use. You’ll easily save ten times the price of the Pro version by not buying a duplicate. Search is extraordinary and automatically does whatever word you want (like author’s middle name if it was input) without the need to specify ‘field’. I am SO pleased with this program and have my 6,631 books, audiobooks, and manuscripts easily locatable. Perhaps my best iPhone app buy in 10+ years!

Book Buddy is essential if you own more than one book. This app is an easy to use very powerful and unbelievably useful app for keeping track of books. It’s not expensive it is unbelievably useful for the price just use it and if you don’t like it you can eliminate it and you won’t be out very much money but if you use this program and you are interested in keeping track of books you will love it.

Fantastic. This is a great deal and I love this app. It is a breeze to enter books, find images or take them, and export them with any filter you want. It IS a little tricky to figure out how to scan a book to either check it out or edit it’s category or tag or other info (hint: look for the camera icon after selecting the search magnifying glass). Nicely done and compared to other choices I explored a clear winner! Spring for the pro. Really, it’s a bargain.

Affordable and Very Functional. I looked at several apps to make a record of private collections of books used at home and work. This app easily scans, accepts isbn, and looks online to incorporate titles accurately. PDF listings and database exports are easy to make, as are printouts of library listings. I contacted the help email to receive assistance as I was learning all the functions and received a reply email with step to step instructions to aid me the same day. Worth the money and great functionality. I highly recommend this app.

Best library cataloging app!. I am very thankful for this app that keeps track of my library of books that includes over 1,200 titles. I appreciate that the paid version of the app is only a small flat fee. The features of the app are fantastic and the scanning of ISBN barcodes is much faster than scanning the covers of books, which I tried to do when trying to keep track of my library in goodreads. I also love the wishlist that helps me keep track of book recommendations from friends, books I see but can’t purchase yet, or books I want to be on the lookout for at the next book sale. It is also nice to look up whether I already own a certain book or not. I appreciate all the information it lists about each book and the simple, but helpful organization and categories one can implement. I have recommended Book Buddy + to many friends, many of which try it and love it, too.

Really enjoy using the app, only one complaint. I’ve got a lot of e-books, audiobooks, physical books, etc. I appreciate being able to use the app to stay organized and keep track of things. My only complaint is that I was prompted to write a review at least three times in a 15 minute span. I love the app, but would appreciate it if you put a 24 hour timer on requests for reviews once I indicate “maybe later”. If I didn’t find the app so useful, I would’ve made this review much harsher.

Great app. This is a great app for cataloging your collection is books. After scanning a lot of my book collection, I'm still really liking this app. A big problem I had originally was no batch editing, but they have since added that option so I'm very happy with that. And they have finally added the option of decimals in series volume numbers!!! I can actually order all my series correctly now!!

Want to love it but am unable to add new categories. I was really excited to buy this app. However I am using it strictly to organize a large personal home library. With 10 bookcases, having around 10 shelves each. The only way I am able to figure out how to categorize where the books are i.e. shelf one row a, is to use tags. I would prefer to use the category feature but I'm unable to add new categories within the book or settings settings section. I Would love to increase the review to five stars if the developer can please tell me how to add categories :-) thank you!

Great App. I’ve been using Book Buddy for months to catalog everything in my collection, from books to comics to magazines, and it’s fantastic. I’m nearing 5500 entries with no issues whatsoever. Other apps I’ve tried have struggled with less than a thousand titles. They recently added a feature to log each individual author separately, which has been a huge improvement… it lets you find authors amidst compilations and collections super easily. I’d LOVE to see that feature rolled out to the Illustrator column. Between graphic novels and art books, I can have twenty or more artists per title. I’d love to keep track of those names more consistently. It’s such a user friendly program! I’d give it six stars if I could.

Exactly what I needed. I wanted a way to record every book I read, both for my personal library and for homeschooling purposes. I have a day each week dedicated to reviewing children’s books and I wanted an app that would 1) easily import book details via a barcode scanner, 2) store my personal notes for future access, and 3) organize titles by a variety of sortable tools. This app delivers. I greatly appreciate how “tweakable” the app is. My usage of the app has changed since I honed in more on my specific library management needs. For example, I no longer consider the app to be a catalog of my physical library, but a log of every book I read and review. I am very pleased with the way the settings give me the freedom to customize my app experience. I once panicked, thinking that the app lost one of my books. It didn’t. I had changed the title’s rating and forgot that the library was being sorted by rating, thus moving the book to a different section. The backup and syncing settings give me great peace of mind that the hours I’m devoting to recording my book reviews will not be lost. This app is worth every penny.

Finally one book management app that is worth paying for. My family reads a lot. My child owns over 550 books with many series. I’ve tried to keep track of the books he has read and struggled with a couple of different apps. This is the best app and for the money it is great. I would give it 5 stars if when I search my books it did true keyword combinations instead of being exact phrase. So if I was looking for warriors: graphic novel I could put in warriors graphic or warriors novel and the books would come up. I love that you can apply tags in groups. I also love if the book cover can’t pull up I can take my own picture or if the cover I have for the book is different I can override what is there. Since the system is so good I’m going to start entering my 5000 books. Then after that my husbands.

Sync no longer working. I have been a very satisfied user of all of the developers apps for quite some time, but recently the iCloud synce is broken, and my iPad an phone no longer sync. Have contacted developer and followed instructions to no avail. Developer suggests I have disabled or otherwise altered my sync settings…I have not, and then that apple iCloud itself is to blame. I find this unlikely as no problems ever before and I use iCloud for everything. Further suggested that I use Dropbox instead, which I do not want to do as just another complication and cost. Other developer apps working fine, so I do not see why apple is at fault. Please fix the sync functionality so app is 5 star again.

Brings organization to something hard to organize.. I still like and use this app. I recommend occasionally exporting your booklist. I had to buy a new phone unexpectedly and I thankfully was able to import my list back into the app. It was as though my account disappeared and I had to start over. This app has been useful in organizing my reading collection. I mostly read professional or work-related books and lend to co-workers. I have a collection that’s half on my Kindle and half read books, with about 30% that overlap. I can track who has what, take notes/comments (especially useful for books not on Kindle). Having a better way to add Kindle items would be useful, as well as tracking those items. I’m using the tags feature. There is a format; however, for the 30% overlap, this was not working well.

Maravilloso. I have been waiting for an app like this for decades. Literally. An amazing database that actually works. Very stable. Allows you to import and export. Recognizes an incredible amount of published material and authors. It's easily customizable to fit your specific needs in the data you want to know and access. Very well thought out and organized. Bravo. The one thing they could do to break it would be to move the databases online and charge a monthly fee. But that would make them into just another crappy scam app. So, please don't. It will ruin everything. I like my information kept local where I can control it. As tempting as it might be, it's a terrible way to do business. No matter how hip it seems to make you look.

Works like a charm!. This app fits by needs by far. It can catagorize books by, name, price, publisher, etc. The app gives you unlimited amount of books in you personal library. The best benefit of this app is the barcode scanner. It can always find the name and other information about your book just by scanning the barcode! If your book can't be scanned, they even give you a little internet to search for your book. If it isn't on the internet or it can't scan on the barcode scanner, you can add it manually. I only had to do this once for a local book I bought. As you might see, I did take off a star. I took of this star just because it costs money. I don't think it is necessary to cost money. Newsflash, you're not going to make a lot of money with this app! They even have a free one that I originally had, but it only let you have forty books in your library. Guess what?! They didn't even tell you about the forty books only rule. Consequently, when I had took my time to scan 40 books, it shut me off! Telling me only 40 books! Anyways, that is their problem. The rest of the app was really good, if I could I would give it a four in a half rating. But now I'm happy to give it a 4 out of 5 star rating!

Outstanding book collection app. I just purchased the Pro version and am jazzed. As a librarian and educator this is the sleekest, most user friendly app for managing my personal collection of over 5,000 books and growing. Fast scanning, ability to enter ISBN manually, and iCloud backup fast. Love the filter options. Would have gladly paid triple. Thanks for the super development. I will always love my books.

Great app with better customer service. This app is a must for any bibliophile with a personal collection. While GoodReads is nice for the social aspect of your reading lists, this app allows me to have privacy, manage my library intuitively and peruse my own collection easily. I love the flexibility of tags and how natural the app is to use. It is fast to add your books and the ability to track borrowing is convenient. But above all, I am beyond impressed with the customer service. They really listen to feedback!

Very useful, responsive developers. I have used this app for years and years to track the books I read. And I find it perfect for that. It’s easy to add books, and import the information; this can be done by scanning the book’s ISBN barcode, or typing in information about the author or title and letting Book Buddy find it for you or you can add things manually. And there are lots of categories for describing the book and keeping track of things like whether you lend it out to someone else. You can define tags to put books into a certain category like genre (mysteries, sf, etc.), or author’s gender, if you read it for a class or book group, or whether the copy that you read was from the library or your own copy. Add long notes in the Notes space. I see that it’s also great for cataloging one’s library, and perhaps someday I will have the energy to do that! Also I would like to say that the developers keep improving it and responded to my request which was to have a category of Unfinished as well as the categories of Unread, Being read, & Finished. At my age I think if I truly don’t like a book and I’ve given it a good chance, I get to stop reading it! So I can record in the book buddy that I started this book, so I had an interest in it, but I didn’t finish it and then there’s a place to record the reason for not finishing it if you wish to do so. And that’s very helpful. Finally you can easily export your lists to different formats: CSV, TSV, PDF, or HTML.

Needs streamlining. I love the concept of the app, but there are definitely some streamline changes to be made (too many clicks to get to changing the status-reading the book is the only purpose it serves, so it should be as easy tapping a toggle next to the name of the book) & some feature I'd like added. There needs to be a way to put a book in two categories-I'd love to keep my books sorted by genre or author while also having a list of current reads or TBRs. The developers said I should use tags for this but that takes too many clicks and is hard to find too, you can't see how to add a tag to a book without clicking edit first or if you try to add a book to the tag itself, you have to rescan it- you can't just add it from your list of books already in the app. Also, I knocked off a star bc the developers were a condescending I their reply to my previous use, I know how to use the app, thank you very much, I just think it could be streamlined.

Best app on my phone. The process of uploading my library has been a nice way to end my day lately. One shelf at a time and I actually don’t want it to end bc it’s been relaxing and meditative! I’ve decided I will upload my teens’ books (under their own categories) bc of course I’ve wondered if they have a book when I see a great one. I love the ‘condition’ field: I made one called ‘terrible, replace’ so if I see a better copy of a book it’s just a click away to see if I should bring it home. I love my home library and I love this app!! I asked about ‘original copyright’ date bc a scan will fill in the date of that specific books publication. I like to know the original date even more so for context...the after publications are not so important. They said that feature would be coming within the year.

Room for improvement but very handy. I am finally getting around to categorizing my books. We are a book loving family and between the 10 of us (8 kids and 2 parents) we have acquired a nice sized library. I’m still figuring out how this works, but my main disappointment is that scanning the isbn of a book does not identify if it’s a paperback or hardback. Since all books have a unique isbn for either one, I’m disappointed that it’s not known. Also, it surprises me how many books are not in the system yet and we have to manually add, but maybe this will get remedied over time. Overall, I am happy with the product.

Great, but could use a few tweaks!. I have several kids who all love to read. Our book collection is overwhelming and this app makes it easier to keep up with them and to be able to make sure each kid is reading books appropriate for their level. I’m using this app to keep our large book collection organized and want to be able to search books by age appropriateness or things like a grade level required summer reading. It would be a huge time saver if we could make bulk updates to a selected set of books and if more fields auto populated. I’m especially interested in the AR related fields. I have 300 or so AR books that I’d like to search through based on AR level, and points!

The best app of its kind!. I just used BookBuddy for five minutes and I am in LOVE! It is so easy to use, and you can try it for free up to 50 books. I’ll definitely be going to Pro version when I get to book 51. It’s only five bucks! Plus, I can feel great that all my data will be safely backed up in my Dropbox. I am over the moon! Oh, and EVERYTHING can easily be done from my iPad or iPhone. I am seriously excited over entering just one book in there to try it. What took five minutes was trying to stand still long enough to show my family my new lovely thing!

a great app, but with so much more potential!. A great app! Fairly easy to import new titles. Some suggestions to optimize usability of the bookbuddy (and moviebuddy) app: 1) batch edit function. at present you can only edit items one at a time, field per field. provide for the ability, in list view, to select multiple items; then have the ability to apply an edit, to a single or multiple fields, to all selected items. 2) search query. at present the search function will only search the titles of items. provide a module that allows for a multi-parameter or multi-field search; for example by tag(s), genre, or combination of fields. 3) desktop app, or desktop web browser-based interface. a lightweight desktop app or desktop web browser interface that syncs with your mobile device(s). this would greatly aid in database management, as managing from the mobile device interface is clumsy esp. when needing to edit each record one at a time, field by field.

A Bibliophile's Best Friend. I'm a retired English teacher and novice author, so I read and analyze a variety of genres to improve my craft. Book Buddy is affordable and user friendly. Book ISBN codes can be scanned or entered manually, then Book Buddy does the rest! I can add categories such as "Library Loan" or "Cozy" to further organize my personal library. No more carrying lists for long book series as I search for the ones I haven't yet read. This app is a game changer.

Has gotten good at scanning codes. In the past I’d often have to manually enter book titles because the app would be unable to pull up the information through the scanner but now I haven’t had to do that in forever. It’s been flawlessly producing the relevant info for the books. Only downside if you collect manga like me is that quite a few of the series just have the basic title so you end up having to enter Volume 1, Volume 2 in the title to prevent the app from claiming you already have this book. It’s not a major downside for me but it’s definitely something you’ll have to deal with if you’re scanning in a large number of manga titles in one go.

BookBuddy. For three years I’ve been trying to figure out how to take an inventory of my classroom books and my home books for the 3 year olds I teach. I wanted a simple inventory list. BookBuddy to the rescue, it has been fantastic. I can’t even stop uploading my books I’m enjoying it so much. It was not complicated trying to figure it out and it works easily. It will make my lesson planning so much easier. It is fantastic for the upper grades because so much data can be collected.

BEST book app EVER!. I have been searching for a good app to input my home library for about six months. I tried several but this one won out. It has all the right spaces for all the book information I like to input. It is super easy to use and your books can be sorted or tagged in any way you wish. A must have if you love books!

Best library app available. This app allows you to scan barcodes and isbn numbers. You can tract what you’ve read and what’s being borrowed. This is hands down the best book app I’ve used. I’ve experimented with five others. I have a library of over 1000 volumes of rare books that aren’t easily found or cataloged. This is by far the best.

Nice App - a little tricky. Nice app, easy to use, especially like the location field. Using it to annotate which box my books are in for a move so I can find them later- will need to be in storage for a few months. I can default the location as I scan the books and sort on it. CAUTION: After multi-scanning 2 dozen books, the "Done" button doesn't work... Had to force quit the app and my work was not saved. It works ok with about 7 books in multiple scan. That said I like that I can use Dropbox to access data from various devices. So far so good.

Great app and prompt service. I have purchased other book inventory apps but didn’t use any of them for some reason. I purchased the Book Buddy Movies and Music and love the Book Buddy. Haven’t used the other two yet. A couple of days after I purchased the app, had a question about adding location field; I emailed the web site in the middle of the night and within half an hour or so received a detailed satisfactory answer from them. I am happy with the app and the service.

I love Book Buddy!!. This is totally awesome!! I use it for my classroom and its so, soo easy to use!! I can enter each book, and digitally keep track of who checked it out. Note: to all teachers, do not cover the ISBN barcode on the back of a book with a label. It makes scanning the book impossible and You have to use the search online feature to locate the book, which means messing with the publisher if you cant find the right version or its from scholastic. The online search is easy to use, but adds an extra step to cataloging. Other than that, i totally recommend this!!

Great, but I wish I could access my library online. I’ve been using the paid version of this app for ever a year to catalog my 1000+ book library. I love it—it’s easy to use and logically laid out. My only issue is that there is no way to access a saved library online (or outside of the device). I recently had an accident in which my iPhone was completely destroyed. When I setup my new phone, I was surprised to find that my iCloud backup had failed and, because there was nowhere for me to access my catalog, I lost all of my BookBuddy data. I’m now in the process of re-cataloging my collection, which is fun but incredibly tedious. I can’t help but think that if I could have logged in somewhere and insured data backup outside of my iPhone, I could have saved myself a lot of time.

Great for getting my books organized. This is a great app for simple and moderately detailed organization of one’s books, because I work in a library, I am particularly specific for the abilities of this app. I am pleased that I can find my imported books in the database (sometimes needing some editing). I would give it 5* if I could save the book’s information without authors, using the editor’s name instead. I love the export ability for backups and using the camera to get isbn/barcodes to pull info quickly. The process gets faster the more books I put in because of familiarity and the app pulling info from prior entries.

Book collector must-have. While I’ve only been using this app for a couple of days, I’m thoroughly impressed. After one too many “do I already own that?” incidents, I decided to purchase it to help keep track of my home library and so far it’s been a breeze. The data entry options allowed me enter and tag half of a bookshelf (around 80 books) in just a couple of hours. Also, a little side note for my fellow librarians: YES, it does have an “ignore prefixes” option for title sort. Hooray!

Been using for years. I have over 1,000 books cataloged in in this app, and I’ve never had a single problem with it. It’s a huge help when thrifting for books and keeping track of different aspects of maintaining a large book collection, like loaned out books, which one are signed, the physical quality of the books, etc. My favorite feature is the custom tags you can add. This makes for unlimited organization capabilities. Some of mine are “signed”, “omnibus”, “companion books”, and “bought new”. There’s nothing wrong with this app, literally 5/5 stars.

Absolutely great!. This app lets you add books by scanning, typing in isbns, searching, or manually. Then you can edit any aspect of a books information, including picking the correct picture or taking one yourself, book location, and even the condition and price paid! The flexibility of the information input is the best of any app I’ve seen. The Dropbox sync and backup is great and quick, as is the pdf and spreadsheet export option. I love that these outputs are customizable in every way. I also like that the pictures are in the document. The best part is the ability to make separate libraries with each one having the ability to specify physical locations of books (shelf, etc.). I am so glad I tried this app and have since bought their movie and music apps because the interface is far better than any other apps that I’ve tried. So far I have scanned close to 900 books. Worth every penny!

Highly recommended. I tried other apps that I wasn’t nearly as impressed with. Instead of using the free app I just went for it and purchased the app, best thing I did! Very easy to use, I highly recommend this app. With that being said I have one recommendation (unless I haven’t found it in the app itself): I wish they would add a category so you can scan/add books you want to purchase. It would be easier than carrying a notebook or putting it in notes on your phone. You could go to the category, open and scan the isbn while in stores and add to future purchases. Or if someone recommends a book you can add it and boom, there it is when you go to the bookstore. Love the app!!!

Best Book Tracker of All. So many features and so easy to use! I have over 900 books on my bookcases and another 150+ in my wish list and this makes it so easy to keep a record to ensure I don’t double up. It even keeps a record of where you’ve stored each particular book and has books borrowed and loaned out categories. I use it constantly and rate each book and then write a review in the notes section of each title. I can’t recommend it highly enough and have recommended it to many folk in Facebook bookclubs I belong to. 10/10 stars from this author/bibliophile!

Fantastic and Unser Friendly. I bought this app to track my library of read and unread books. It does a very good job and is very user friendly. An addition to this app that would greatly improve it, and save me using another app for this feature, would be recommendations based on my ratings of my ‘read’ books. Is there any scope on this feature being applied?

Great library manager app. I am using this app to manage my 450+ Kindle collection. If I get time before I die, I will try to put my "real" books into it as well 🤔😖😆. The app works well. So far it has been able to find all but one of my Kindle books. Online search for different book covers is really easy. If you still need a correct cover then you can upload it from your Photos app. There are a few things that are mildly annoying: 1. Categories and Tags are confusing. 2. You have to create new genre on the go, you can't create a list first and then select the one you want. 3. You can only have ONE genre!!! 4. New books have their genre pre-set to "Fiction" so that has to be deleted and the correct one added. If these issues were dealt with it would be very very good! Regards, Peter

Widget please!. Can we get a widget that shows a random book each day. Would be great to be reminded of the covers of our book collections seeing as how we mainly see the spines only on our shelves.

Disappointing. Was hoping for a simple book tracker app that allowed for tracking of past books read and current. Unfortunately online search to add an already read book is hopeless. Gives maybe 5% of authors books to choose from. I'm hoping there's a way to get more but at this stage I just wasted 7 bucks:(:(

My companion. I love this app. It gives me the freedom to enjoy book browsing in stores and purchasing books that I don’t already have! Prior to my Book Buddy I was purchasing books I do already have but are not yet read. Yes, I am a compulsive book buyer but this app keeps me on track!

The way an app should be. This is a stunning app, the way an iPhone app should be designed: clean, simple, intuitive and highly effective. It's a breeze to scan barcodes, add a wish list and keep track of which books you've loaned to whom. Love it!

Very powerful. Easily the most powerful book tracking software in the App Store. The devs are always working on making it more powerful, and easy to use. Very easy to use. I have close to 4,500 books in my house, many of which are still to be added. This has allowed me to sort them into my own definitions of Categories, and allows me to note the bookshelf they live on. More than that, tech support actually know the product!! Can you believe that?! They are amazing! Not only do they know it enough o answer all my questions, if what I am asking is not presently available, they offer a workaround or something to provide similar results. And then, several times I have seen the feature added on a later update. This app is so easy to use, and super powerful. And the ability to share my database online means people don’t double up my books when they purchase me gifts! Thanks Kimiko, you have made a fantastic app.

Love this app. Previously used My Library. BookBuddy is easily as good as that, only does not include movies and music (note separate apps for those). In the process of adding all my books, and it is quite easy and quick. The sync between my iPad and phone is automatic. The only thing it doesn’t do that I would love is a quick move function between locations. There is a move function, but it relates to moving between categories, a field I don’t even know the purpose of. I am planning to use it for Collections, as there isn’t a field for this, and I have some old Herron books that come in collections of books by different authors with the same theme. Anyway, love this app. Please, keep updating it. It is heartbreaking to spend days entering all your books into an app only to find some time later it is no longer being supported and doesn’t even open in the current iOS.

Nice and simple way to track my books. I like having a list of what I’ve read and the ability to flag favourites. I also use the notes to say why I loved (or didn’t like) a book or author style. Well worth the money for this app!

Just one thing.... I really love this app and would be giving it a 5 star rating if not for one thing. I love to include publication years for my book lists but the only option is to add an entire publication date, day month and year...it is hard to find this for every book and I don't want to just make up the date. It would be nice if you could add only the year, or if you could create your own field to include.

Absolutely fantastic. Really useful app, a lot of customizations. I really like the ability to get cover images from Google directly. It’s really good if you want to customize your bookshelf a lot, and have a lot of books that aren’t published. Also updates with new features continuously. One thing I wish could be added is to go to the authors tab directly from the book. So when I’m on a book I can click the author and it’ll show me all of their works. Also I think the cover images aren’t really optimized for iPad, I feel like it can all be a bit small. Works great on the phone though.

Exactly what I needed. This app blew all other book cataloguing apps I tried out of the water. It’s fast, accurate, and easy to change the information (picture, author’s name, etc) when it gets it wrong. The price is well worth it! I purchased it in the bundle that also comes with an app for movie and music cataloguing so it was like getting all 3 for the price of one. Very well done app.

Perfect for the at home library. This app is amazing. With over 1000 books it helps me stay organized, makes sure I don’t buy a book I already have when I’m out and browsing and lets me categorize by subject so that books are easier to find. I recommend it for every home library that is large.

Improved. I originally wrote a review for this app on Jan 31, 2017. I was disappointed at the time because the barcode scanner on app recognized less than half of the books I scanned, including some books in a series, but not others. The app developers responded to my concerns saying that they were working to address the issue. I have since updated the app and I can say that the scanning function has significantly improved, although it still didn't recognize a couple of my books, it did recognize ones that I had unsuccessfully tried to scan prior to the update. I still feel the price is a bit steep for what you get.

Pretty good. I like the app but I'd like to see the option to post to Facebook what I'm reading. Also would be nice to have a field for series title and number, and to be able to choose more than one genre for a book would be awesome.

Fun and useful. ...if you enjoy this sort of thing, this is something you'll enjoy a lot! You can use it to catalogue your books, but I find the "wish list" most useful. I'm not sure it was technically worth the money, but I'm very happy I bought it.

User-Friendly. This app is simple to use and user-friendly. It's search engine could be greatly improved. Often, you search for an ISBN from a scan and it brings back nothing; but when manually enter that same ISBN, it works.

No results. It really annoys me when I do a title search and “no results” appears, but then the title does if I pursue the search under the author’s name. I have over 10,000 books and sometimes can’t remember if I’m missing one in a series so it’s a hindrance when the title search comes up negative, I order it and when I catalogue it, I’m told I already have a copy saved. More covers are required, it’s a lengthy process when there are no ISBNs, and when you do multiple scans, it doesn’t say which ones haven’t scanned. Book Buddy is still the best system for many other reasons and I’m definitely glad to have most of my books inventoried relatively easily. Update: books that didn’t scan are now noted in the multiple scan section, but I’m still having problems with searching for a book (I’ll use several ways of writing the title/author), having it show as no results, will then order the book, only to find I do have it after all. I now have several duplicates…However, it’s still the best system so far.

Amazing App. Very, very useful for inventory on books. Easy to use and sort my books. As with the movie one, it would be great if you could add box sets and then see the individual books that the set contains, along with separate pictures and info. Otherwise a flawless app.

Ou alors on fait une recherche internet avec le titre et les champs se remplissent seuls. Si plus d’une image de couverture pour un même livre, on peut choisir celle qui correspond à notre livre ou la prendre en photo et l’ajouter. Le résumé de la 4 e couverture s’inscrit souvent seul lorsque disponible. Sinon on peut l’ajouter nous-mêmes. On peut gérer les prêts de nos livres faits à nos amis. Inscrire le prix payé. Il ne manque qu’une seule option : faire un total du montant dépensé pour l’achat des livres, mais comme on peut exporter en excell, on peut faire le calcul dans ce chiffrier. Je recommande fortement, un petit coût très bien investi!!

Surprisingly Easy to Use. Love this app! Super easy to use and has a great look. You can put in as little or as much info you want. Scanning is a breeze, or a quick search online. I’ve been wanting to catalogue my collection now for awhile. It’s going great. Would suggest making the keyword search even more useful by allowing it to search notes or summaries. Would help when cataloguing short story collections as that’s were I put individual titles or authors in the collection. Best app ever!

BookBuddy+. Great App. Don't have the ability to show $ values of list and/or purchased price of books. Would be nice as it would show value of library.

Great app!. I got this app in January 2023 and I’ve been recommending it to others. It’s handy to avoid repeat purchases, especially with the various formats out there. It is also great to have for insurance purposes but hopefully it won’t ever be necessary. There are so many great things about this app. I do have some suggestions and I’m wondering if there is a place we can send in ideas. For example, I’d like to hide that which I don’t require. I’d also like to see more options for audiobook listings. Audiobook photos don’t fit properly so we have to spend time altering a photo or use the hard copy photo, which often differ. For each format, I’d like different options to choose from. Since I have some audiobooks, I have to have Narrator enabled but then it’s still there for my Kindle e-books and hard copies. Again, the ability to hide that which we don’t use, which can vary by format, would be wonderful. Another thing is like to see if the ability to enter the Amazon ASIN number for Kindle e-books and Audible Audiobooks instead of the ISBN. I had to enter in the ISBN for all my Kindle books and then edit to ASIN and change the page count because that differs between hard copies and e-book copies. I look forward to seeing this app develop even further.

Best App Ever. This app has saved me many times from buying doubles! I always have my phone with me so it’s helpful to scan to see if I have a certain book before I buy it! It also tracks books I have lent out so that’s awesome!! Love this app soooo much!!!!

Excellent! But.... This is a great app. The big problem (and it is a big problem for me) is the lack of an option to add series names and numbers to books. If this is added I will review with 5 stars because this is a fantastic app.

Can’t share library with my sister. My sister and I share a library, and we have 2 different Apple IDs. I would like a way to share our very large library with her, since the library is already on my app. But she cant access it since she has a different Apple ID. Is there a way around this? Or a computer/desktop way to access my library, so my sister has it as well?

Absolutely amazing. The app is working flawlessly. I am able to organize my books into different categories and give them different tags. I have logged 300 books so far and I find this app so easy to use!

Functional Organized Easy. Love this app. So easy to use. You have the ability to tag and search for like books. Organize into categories and physical locations. And when I loan them out I know exactly who has them. I use this in a small library in my coffee shop. Brilliant.

Cross Reference Capability and Multiple Genres for Books. It would be nice to be able to cross reference my books on this book app and have more than one genre applied to some of my books.

Helpful, not always efficient. I love the concept of this app! However, I am finding that it is taking quite a bit of time to get books scanned in. I would love to see more efficiency with the tagging feature. It seems that the middle step of having to confirm how you’ve tagged it is unnecessary. It would also be really nice to be able to add tags to multiple books at once! Overall, I’m excited for my classroom to use the app.

Best app ever. I never buy apps. Bought this one. Best purchase ever. Easy and fun to use. The only thing I would change is a color option for books by genre. Or books vs audio. It’s difficult to look at a book that you have that’s paper AND audio and know the difference.

Manga Collector. I’ve been looking for a convenient way to list the current manga I have and this app allows me to customize my list to almost any end. I now have my entire manga collection organized and separated all at my fingertips. It also has the barcode function allowing you to scan an entire series at a time and input it that way, I find the database is spot on in most cases auto filling almost all of the relevant information. I would highly recommend this app to anyone looking to sort a collection of substantial size. I literally have nothing bad to say about this app Thanks for the great work! :)

Love it. This app is by far the best app to manage your book collection and to help you keep track of who you loaned books out to. It even does graphic novels. I just wish it do individual comic books. Great app and I love the movie buddy app as well. Good job.

Lifesaver. Book buddy allows me to keep up with the extended library I have at home... the books I’ve borrowed from my hometown library..as I get older I don’t always remember what I’ve read and I can also go back and reread my favorites.

BookBuddy Pro. I’ve just started using BookBuddy Pro. It is extremely easy to use. I’ve not found any problems that have held me back. I would like to suggest an add by ISBN. But, I love this app. You can backup to the cloud and other places. You can even write it out to a CSV file. Only another 5000 books to go.

The Best Way to Organize My Classroom Library. I have tried many apps to help me keep track of my classroom library. I was looking for a system to help me organize them by bin numbers. I was also looking for a system that allowed me to search for a book and then see which bin number it was in. This system is PERFECT for all of those things. Thank you :-) the best $4.99 I’ve ever spent.

Love this app!. Whether you have a dozen books in your library or 500, this is a must have app for any book lover/collector. A friend introduced me to it and I’m so glad he did. I had a couple of questions when I went from the free app to the Book Buddy Pro; I emailed my questions and heard back within a few hours. I highly recommend this app!

Customer Support. As a first user of this app, I had some issues with my initial import files from multiple sources. I contacted support and they were able to resolve my issues with my files. Their response time was excellent and very professional. I am extremely happy with the support and app so far. Happy reading!

Needs share library feature. AWould love the option to allow others to “view” my library. For Instance: The granparents want to buy books for my children and I own over 400 books. Id love to be able to let them “view/search” my library so they can see what books we already have as opposed to me having to search each one for them.

Life Saver. Best app I’ve used in a long time. I have well over 1000 books in my personal library and I’ve been putting off logging and categorizing them. This app is saving me untold hours in organizing and classifying. Get it, you won’t be disappointed.

Book Buddy. I am a volunteer librarian in a small private school. Book buddy has allowed me to enter all 3500+ books, and the teachers and students can now find books by genre, reading level, Dewey decimal number, author as well as title. It also lets me know what student and teachers have books checked out as well as return date.

Good, but not great app. This app does some things right, but you can only put a book in one category. If I listen to audio book that’s a biography of Winston Churchill, I could put that book into at least four categories: Winston Churchill, English history, non-fiction, and audio books.

Love this app. Been using the paid version for several years and so appreciate it. I keep a wish list and log the titles I’ve read with a date read and a rating: for those tasks it’s perfect.

Great app. I love being able to keep track of my books with Book Buddy. Being able to scan my new books into the app using the barcode scanner is great. I just wish that when the books are sorted by author it was by the author’s last name not their first name.

Great app. This is a great app. I just bought it and spent 2 hours at my bookstore loading books to my wishlist by scanning the barcode. I would give it 5 stars but as yet I have not been able to sort my series lists by when they came out or in order by how the books fit in the series without scanning them that way. If I could scan them all and the move the book into order then I would give this app 5 stars.

Not always reliable. It’s great for keeping track of books you have and read but I find that book buddy does not “ keep all entries”. I find books that I have scanned in disappear.

best book manager ever. i have what essentially amounts to a personal library and i’m a very organized person. i’ve used several other book managers- free and premium- and they’re not that great; there’s always some kind of glitch or it’s so clunky and old school i don’t like opening it and perusing. book buddy solves all those problems! it’s like goodreads on steroids. i’m especially happy with the “search for online image” for covers and the group isbn scan. i do wish that series and volume are two fields that are automatically added when a book is added to the library but other than that this app is absolutely perfect.

Don’t buy if you used the free version!. I was using the free version but got to the 50 book limit so wanted to “upgrade”. The App Store led me to this so I purchased it to find out it’s separate and I would have to start over and input the 50 books I already entered in the free version. I tried to ask for a refund for this so I could go back and pay for the upgrade in the free app but it won’t let me submit a refund request so I am out $5 and will use Libib instead.

Excellent App, one request. This is an excellent app, well worth the price! I tried multiple apps before deciding on this one. My one request would be for there to be some way to search online for non-physical books (e-books, especially Kindle). Entering my physical library was quick and seamless, but I have to enter each Kindle book manually.

The best book library app. This is awesome. I was at our library used book sale, when a gentleman introduced me to this app. I knew I had to purchase immediately. It detects duplicate books. Easy to use and keeps track of books you lent out. Highly recommend

Amazing. I really liked how I could scan all my library and sort them into the bins I keep. I wonder if there is a way to see a list of who checked out the book prior, just to see if the book is damaged who did it and if it is being read at all. Still learning new things on this app but totally worth it.

Easy, convenient. Great tool for my classroom library. I just wish there was a way to turn in multiple books at one time (all from one person; mark them all as returned).

Easy to Build Catalog. I wanted to catalog my books and this is easy to use and fast to scan in your hard copies. I wish there was a was to import my books from audible because I do a lot of “reading” with my catalog there too. I guess I will need to add those manually.

Love this. I love this app so much. If I had one suggestion, it would be that titles would not alphabetize as if the word ‘the’ is the first word. I have to go through and manually edit the titles so that the word ‘the’ comes last.

This is AMAZING. I have wanted to catalog my children’s books for my classroom for quite a while. However, it always seemed like such a daunting task. This is making it so easy! I have over 300 books catalogued already and probably about 700 more to go. Thank you so much for this!

Couldn’t have done it without this app. I live in a senior apartment building and am the volunteer librarian. I now have over 2,000 books and have been able to Inventory all of them by area of the library where they can be found. For example, they are divided by large print, paperback, hard back, biographies etc. I couldn’t have done it without this wonderful app.

📚. I absolutely love this app. I have been using a spreadsheet for years and that had its issues. This gives me everything I need! My only wish is that I could sort the wish list by author. When I go to a bookstore books are typically shelves by author and I find it a bit clunky to figure out what books I need. But otherwise this meets all my needs!

Great app. I love this app and find it very helpful in keeping track of my reading. I occasionally don’t finish a book and would like to have a Reading Status that indicates Unfinished. Is this possible?

Awesome App!. I love to browse book sales and frequently bought duplicate books. This app changed that ! My only additions would be a donated list and automatic suggestions for books in the series I have read.

Excellent, but.... I have 1000’s of books on this app & over time have been able to flex the information for my needs. The problem that can’t seem to get fixed is the inability for it to recognize the apostrophe. If the title has an apostrophe, when you try to search, if you enter the apostrophe the search shows no titles found. Very frustrating.

Stop duplicate purchases. I bought the three Buddy apps for books, movies, and music. All fairly easy to use, though it takes time to do it right - not all ISBNs can be found so sometimes you need to wing it. Easiest way to keep up is to input the book/music/movie when you buy it. I’m glad I got this app.

Book enthusiast. I am loving this app. The app has kept me from duplicating books and has also allowed me to create a wish list to help me find the books I’m looking for especially to fulfill a series I want to read.

Saves my mind when I’m looking for a book at home. PLUS I can categorize! I also have a hoard of magazines that I don’t want to part with & I have added them manually!!

Love the app mostly. I love this app mostly, but I hate that it is so difficult to back up my library and reload it onto new phones. Having to pay for the app and pay for a cloud service defeats the purpose of buying the app.

Loving it.. Easy to use. I love having my catalogue of books with me as I shop. In logging them have found multiple copies of multiple titles unintentionally duplicated. This has already helped me avoid additional duplicates. I simply wish I could also sort by genre and author. My library is too extensive to simply search by title or series.

These are terrific programs!. I’ve been using BookBuddy and MusicBuddy for a couple of months now putting together inventories as we downsize ahead of moving. We have about 600 LPs to catalog and I can’t begin to image doing that with out MusicBuddy. Same with the books which are well over that. Exact and complete lists will also be useful for selling and for insurance coverage.

Love this app!. I love how quickly you can add books by scanning the bar codes. It’s easy to add and edit books manually. Highly recommend!

Best I’ve used. After several different book tracking apps in both apple and pc formats, this one comes closest to being the total package. Helps me keep track of nearly 2000 books and periodicals from my phone or my tablet. An excellent product

Great App. I am loving it so far. The only things is I wish it would show me how many books are in my wish list. I wish it would give recommendations based on the books you have.
